- 1:19Speaker 4: Let me get you caught up on news of the day.
- 1:23Speaker 4: If you just joined us, we were talking about some
- 1:25Speaker 4: of these stories that were out there. Brett mc murphy
- 1:27Speaker 4: has released his Top twenty five courtesy the AP. The
- 1:30Speaker 4: official AP will be out Sunday. Your Monday Sound of
- 1:35Speaker 4: your Monday. I do want to get into Bill Conley
- 1:38Speaker 4: ESPN dot com his sp plus. He is a final
- 1:43Speaker 4: projection before the season. Breaking down the Final sp plus,
- 1:46Speaker 4: he said, it starts with Buckeyes and Ducks. We'll get
- 1:48Speaker 4: into this underrated, who's overrated? Brand new day for teams
- 1:53Speaker 4: like Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, and even UCLA brand new
- 1:57Speaker 4: day for North Texas and Yukon, but a different kind
- 1:59Speaker 4: of day. A Notre Dame red hot projection for national
- 2:03Speaker 4: championships for Notre Dame.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Some of the news that's out there, though.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Daboshweni Clemson Dabos when he asked about his team in
- 2:11Speaker 4: fall camp, he said, everybody's just working.
- 2:14Speaker 1: He says, we just a bunch of nobody's.
- 2:15Speaker 4: We'll see if anybody becomes somebody as we play some games.
- 2:20Speaker 4: So you know, Dabos when he's trying to and again
- 2:23Speaker 4: talking to Rafield sparsa last hour Clemson has a national
- 2:27Speaker 4: championship odds value of seventy five to one going into
- 2:32Speaker 4: the season. I don't have this on authority yet. I
- 2:35Speaker 4: don't remember them being that low down the pecan order
- 2:39Speaker 4: in ten fifteen years. I mean, you have to go
- 2:41Speaker 4: back to Dabo's first or second year when he took over,
- 2:45Speaker 4: you know, that program for Tommy Bowden. They have really
- 2:49Speaker 4: fallen off, and Dabo's doing everything he can to try
- 2:52Speaker 4: to motivate this team in the media. And again I
- 2:54Speaker 4: think as spars have hit it and other people have
- 2:56Speaker 4: hit it every they have not conformed to modern day
- 3:01Speaker 4: college football, meaning he doesn't take players in the transfer portal.
- 3:05Speaker 1: If he does, it's one or two.
- 3:06Speaker 4: I get that he wants to have a developmental program
- 3:09Speaker 4: and do things you know the quote unquote old school way,
- 3:12Speaker 4: which is five years ago. But Clemson uh in Dabosweeney
- 3:16Speaker 4: not not a great relationship. But if they go down
- 3:18Speaker 4: to Baton Rouge week one.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And they get beat.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Handily, it's gonna be it's gonna be a tough year
- 3:25Speaker 4: for Clemson. And you know, if I go in here,
- 3:26Speaker 4: you can go to Maristar Casino dot Com, forward slash
- 3:29Speaker 4: Vicksburg and go ahead.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And get in on some football odds.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Here.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Let me see here, it's hard to believe TCU in
- 3:39Speaker 4: North Carolina play. That's the I believe Dublin Ireland game
- 3:43Speaker 4: that TCU is a only a seven and a half
- 3:45Speaker 4: point favorite. But I'm gonna tell you this right now.
- 3:48Speaker 4: You hammer TCU against North Carolina, they are going to
- 3:53Speaker 4: there is no way I will be blown away on
- 3:56Speaker 4: August twenty ninth, eleven o'clock kick in the morning if
- 4:00Speaker 4: North Carolina hangs around.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I mean, this is a program.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I'm getting to Clemson LSU here in just a bit
- 4:04Speaker 4: so squirrel brain here, I just saw this from this
- 4:07Speaker 4: line on North Carolina TCU. North Carolina with Bill Belichick.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Their general manager is you know, on leave for an
- 4:16Speaker 4: HR issue. Their defensive coordinators not there.
- 4:20Speaker 1: He is on leave.
- 4:21Speaker 4: The program is under investigation.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You have.
- 4:24Speaker 4: There is not an easier win than TCU minus seven
- 4:28Speaker 4: and a half. Maybe all year, maybe all year, but
- 4:30Speaker 4: when you look at some of these, you know Week
- 4:32Speaker 4: one ball games, Colorado is a seven point underdog the
- 4:37Speaker 4: Georgia Tech And I don't know if you guys have
- 4:39Speaker 4: seen this, and I'd have to find it. Colorado has
- 4:43Speaker 4: locked their practices down, Like if you're a media person,
- 4:46Speaker 4: now you know. And there's been a lot of quote
- 4:49Speaker 4: unquote negative publicity coming out of Colorado camp. The most
- 4:51Speaker 4: negative that I've seen is there's people posting pictures saying
- 4:53Speaker 4: they look like a high school team, but they have
- 4:56Speaker 4: locked their practices down. If you're a media member, based
- 4:59Speaker 4: on the ports that are coming out of Colorado, the
- 5:02Speaker 4: state of Colorado, if you have a phone, you have
- 5:06Speaker 4: to put it in a bag and you can't take notes,
- 5:08Speaker 4: and it's just they have really locked this thing down.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Colorado is a seven point dog at Georgia Tech Week one.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Miami is a twenty three point favorite over Stanford on
- 5:18Speaker 4: the road. Let's see here, Nebraska, Ohio. I'm just looking
- 5:24Speaker 4: for some of these games.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Here.
- 5:25Speaker 4: I'm looking for that. There it is LSU Clemson. LSU
- 5:28Speaker 4: is a nine and a half point favorite at home
- 5:31Speaker 4: September fifth against Clemson, and I feel pretty good about
- 5:36Speaker 4: LSU at that nine and a half.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Pretty good.
- 5:37Speaker 4: I mean, I probably won't play this game. That total
- 5:40Speaker 4: is sitting around fifteen and a half right now. But
- 5:42Speaker 4: if Clemson goes down there and they get beat and
- 5:46Speaker 4: LSU covers, for instance, if so I say LSU wins
- 5:48Speaker 4: fourteen to twenty points, it's gonna be a bad year
- 5:51Speaker 4: for Clemson and it's gonna be a bad time for
- 5:54Speaker 4: Davos Twining. Let me see here, I'm looking to see.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Is there anything else early two lane Duke. There's some
- 6:01Speaker 4: intrigue there, believe it or not. Minus nine and a half.
- 6:04Speaker 4: That's the Darien Mensi Bowl, right because Dairy Minsill was
- 6:07Speaker 4: at two lane a few years ago than transferred to Duke.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Of course, now he is at Miami. Missippi State is
- 6:12Speaker 4: a twenty eight point favorite right now against Louisiana Monroe.
- 6:16Speaker 4: That's a big spread. I mean, I would say hammer
- 6:18Speaker 4: the twenty eight. If Missippi State wins that ball game
- 6:21Speaker 4: about fourteen points, there's gonna be a lot of groaning,
- 6:24Speaker 4: a lot of growing. Missippi State needs to win that
- 6:26Speaker 4: game convincingly against Louisiana Monroe. Also Ole Miss and Louisville.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Ole Miss is a six and a half point favorite
- 6:34Speaker 4: over Louisville. That's September sixth, Sunday sixth, September sixth at
- 6:38Speaker 4: six thirty pm. And September seventh, watch SMU at Florida State.
- 6:45Speaker 4: That's a big ball game in the ACC. It's a
- 6:47Speaker 4: big ball game for both programs because when you look
- 6:50Speaker 4: at Florida State and Mike Norvelle and what they're trying
- 6:53Speaker 4: to do, which is bounce back. Mike Norvell make no
- 6:55Speaker 4: mistake about it, He's trying to save his job SMU.
- 7:00Speaker 1: They have not only.
- 7:02Speaker 4: ACC aspirations, they have college football playoff aspirations. They were
- 7:06Speaker 4: a team that made the initial twelve team College Football Playoff.
- 7:09Speaker 4: They're trying to get back there to watch that game.
- 7:12Speaker 4: And then September twelfth, Texas A and M brings in
- 7:15Speaker 4: Arizona State. Texas A and M is a sixteen point
- 7:17Speaker 4: sixteen and a half point favorite and down in College station.
- 7:21Speaker 4: In week two, also Oklahoma at Michigan. Michigan is a
- 7:24Speaker 4: two and a half point favored over the Oklahoma Sooners.
- 7:28Speaker 4: And I'll tell you another one September twelfth, to keep
- 7:31Speaker 4: your eye on just looking at some of these lines
- 7:34Speaker 4: is of course, you got Texas and Ohio State. Texas
- 7:36Speaker 4: is a one and a half point favorite. Oregon travels
- 7:38Speaker 4: to Oklahoma State in week two, they get Boise State.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Week one, they have to travel to Oklahoma State. That's
- 7:45Speaker 4: a revamped Oklahoma State team. Oregon better watch themselves. I mean,
- 7:50Speaker 4: they're gonna win the ball game. They're a seventeen and
- 7:52Speaker 4: a half point favorite on the road in still Water
- 7:54Speaker 4: against Oklahoma State.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But I don't know that.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I don't even play that game. There's not a total
- 7:58Speaker 4: on that game yet. And that makes sense because you
- 8:02Speaker 4: don't really know how Oklahoma State's gonna play offensively. You
- 8:04Speaker 4: think you kind of know because the coaching staffs there.
- 8:07Speaker 4: They they're high team, you know, left lane hit the
- 8:10Speaker 4: gas type of team. But watch that game. Just watch
- 8:13Speaker 4: that game, all right, let's see here we're talking. Also,
- 8:15Speaker 4: I want to get into the best college football jersey
- 8:18Speaker 4: patch sponsorships. You know, Arkansas has Tyson Foods on the jersey,
- 8:23Speaker 4: Wisconsin has Culver's on the jersey.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I don't even know who that is.
- 8:27Speaker 4: For Washington States, a US Double A is on Army
- 8:31Speaker 4: Air Force on their jersey, and Memphis with FedEx Woodside
- 8:35Speaker 4: Energy on LSU JP, Morgan Chase on Ohio State.
- 8:41Speaker 1: And then you know, if I.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Had to say who's the best right now, I like
- 8:44Speaker 4: the Tyson Foods on Arkansas. It looks clean, it makes sense,
- 8:47Speaker 4: it makes sense of most of these. To give me
- 8:50Speaker 4: the Arkansas Razorbacks also.
- 8:53Speaker 1: LSU slowly adding.
- 8:55Speaker 4: They started the week with only four basketball players as
- 8:59Speaker 4: school starts down in v rouge four basketball players on
- 9:03Speaker 4: you know, early late summer early fall workouts for basketball
- 9:07Speaker 4: only four. They've added now sky Clark from UCLA. They've
- 9:11Speaker 4: picked up a couple this week as a wiel Wade
- 9:14Speaker 4: slowly slowly feeling filling that roster, and the Florida Gators
- 9:18Speaker 4: have put out courtesy Gators Football on x A quick
- 9:22Speaker 4: video Florida Gators for the.
- 9:23Speaker 1: First time ever, they'll wear all blue.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Florida ounces were all blue for the first time this season,
- 9:30Speaker 4: for the first time ever. I thought they had done this.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Maybe I'm just wrong. But blue tops, blue bottoms, blue hats,
- 9:38Speaker 4: and maybe it was the blue tops, blue bottom, blue bottoms,
- 9:40Speaker 4: orange helmets. Maybe that's what I'm thinking of. Uh, maybe
- 9:43Speaker 4: it was an orange Gator helmet with the blue top
- 9:45Speaker 4: and the blue bottom. But they're going blue head to
- 9:47Speaker 4: toe this year and it looks good.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I mean it does. It's a it's a good look
- 9:52Speaker 1: for the Florida Gators.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Six or one eighty to five, three seven, seven six

- 11:21Speaker 4: six two seven nine two four to two zero one
- 11:23Speaker 4: Corvin Greer construction. Today we'll have Michael Turner, the defensive
- 11:27Speaker 4: coordinator for Brandon End. Next segment, let me get over
- 11:30Speaker 4: here to Bill Conley's final sp plus. Let me get
- 11:37Speaker 4: off this Florida Gator uniform. We were sitting here talking
- 11:39Speaker 4: about that. I think I think what I'm in. Brod
- 11:41Speaker 4: did too. We've agreed, Florida's played in all blue before,
- 11:45Speaker 4: but it's it's been blue top, blue bottom, orange helmet,
- 11:49Speaker 4: Danny Warfol and all those guys a Ward, so it's
- 11:51Speaker 4: it's but it's going to be the blue top, blue bottom,
- 11:55Speaker 4: in the blue helmet, all right. Final preseason sp Plus
- 11:58Speaker 4: courtesy of Bill Conley. And I'm gonna be honest with
- 12:01Speaker 4: you when you start talking about who do you trust
- 12:03Speaker 4: as far as rankings, I'm taking Bill Conley over most people,
- 12:08Speaker 4: just because he puts so much thought into it, and
- 12:10Speaker 4: it's a numbers base. Still, He's been doing sp plus
- 12:13Speaker 4: for a long time.
- 12:16Speaker 1: He says that I'm looking at.
- 12:20Speaker 4: He says priors and predictives. However, even in the Transfer
- 12:25Speaker 4: Portal era, preseason rankings like sp plus paint an interesting
- 12:29Speaker 4: and reasonably accurate picture, the formula doesn't get it right
- 12:33Speaker 4: on every team, he said. It wouldn't be any fun
- 12:36Speaker 4: if it were that way, he said, but I can
- 12:38Speaker 4: tell it can tell us quite a bit. Of last
- 12:41Speaker 4: year's projected top fifteen sp plus, he said, seven finished
- 12:44Speaker 4: within one regular season win of their August projections, and
- 12:50Speaker 4: of that eight that didn't close games, and therefore some
- 12:53Speaker 4: randomness played an enormous role.
- 12:56Speaker 1: He says.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Six teams Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Omes, Oregon, and Texas
- 13:01Speaker 4: A and M overachieved their final win total projections from
- 13:03Speaker 4: last year by at least one point four regular season wins.
- 13:07Speaker 4: They were projected to win fifty two point one combined games,
- 13:12Speaker 4: but went sixty six and six instead, primarily because of
- 13:16Speaker 4: the combined twenty one to three records in the one
- 13:19Speaker 4: score events or one score games. Two teams, Clemson and
- 13:21Speaker 4: Penn State significantly underachieved. And you know they both teams
- 13:27Speaker 4: did fall off last year. Penn State Drew Railer got hurt.
- 13:31Speaker 4: That whole thing went south for James Franklin. Dabosweeney with
- 13:34Speaker 4: that whole thing went south for him. Their quarterback, Kate Klubnik,
- 13:38Speaker 4: was not nearly the quarterback they thought he would be,
- 13:41Speaker 4: says they were expected to win nineteen point three combined
- 13:44Speaker 4: games on average, but instead went thirteen and eleven the
- 13:47Speaker 4: regular season. Those two teams, he said. There'll always be
- 13:50Speaker 4: some Clemson style whiffs, he said, but you know, basically
- 13:55Speaker 4: the sp plus has has hit it within the number.
- 13:58Speaker 4: His final sp plus going into the season. He does
- 14:01Speaker 4: this a few weeks before the season starts. Ohio State
- 14:04Speaker 4: number one. He has them with the second best offense
- 14:07Speaker 4: and the first and the number one defense in the country.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Strength of schedule ranking third. He has Oregon number two,
- 14:15Speaker 4: Notre Dame three, Georgia four, in Indiana five. And you know,
- 14:20Speaker 4: when you start looking at some of these units here
- 14:21Speaker 4: and we'll get into this in a minute, it's very,
- 14:24Speaker 4: very interesting. A lot of these teams with projected offensive
- 14:27Speaker 4: and defensive units, even special teams.
- 14:30Speaker 1: You know, in special teams not so much.
- 14:32Speaker 4: I mean, obviously you got to have a great special
- 14:33Speaker 4: team o miss number one in the country and special teams,
- 14:37Speaker 4: and that that matters. I mean, you're gonna be in
- 14:39Speaker 4: some really close ballgames at times, so you want to
- 14:42Speaker 4: have those really.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Good special teams units.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Where Ohio State sixty seventh in the country, Oregon fiftieth
- 14:48Speaker 4: in the country, preseason Notre Dame forty seventh. Now Georgia
- 14:52Speaker 4: is fourth, and they fourth in the country, but they
- 14:54Speaker 4: are fifth offensively, fifth defensively in SP plus and then
- 14:57Speaker 4: third and the special teams.
- 15:00Speaker 1: He has Ole Miss as the.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Sixteenth best team in SP plus, right behind Michigan and
- 15:05Speaker 4: right ahead of Penn State. Ole Miss eleventh offensively, twenty
- 15:09Speaker 4: six defensively first special team strengthen schedule eighth, but Texas
- 15:14Speaker 4: at six, Miami seven, Texas Tech eight, Texas A, and
- 15:17Speaker 4: M nine, LSU ten. Follow about Oklahoma, USC, Alabama thirteen,
- 15:21Speaker 4: Tennessee fourteen, Michigan fifteen, Ole Miss sixteen, Penn State, Washington, Missouri,
- 15:27Speaker 4: and Florida around at the top twenty BYU Iowa, Clemson,
- 15:31Speaker 4: South Carolina, and smu are through twenty five. Just looking
- 15:35Speaker 4: at some notables here, he has Mississippi State. Let's find
- 15:38Speaker 4: the Bulldogs at fifty second. He has them with the
- 15:43Speaker 4: thirty seventh best offense in the country, seventy fourth best defense,
- 15:47Speaker 4: and twenty first best special teams unit twelfth overall, hardest
- 15:50Speaker 4: schedule Missisippi State since between Arizona State at fifty one
- 15:54Speaker 4: and Wisconsin at fifty three. And you know, for Missippi State.
- 15:58Speaker 4: If they can live somewhere around thirty seventh thirty to
- 16:02Speaker 4: thirty seventh offensively, that's that's good enough.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I mean that that gives you a lot, a lot
- 16:07Speaker 1: of offensive production.
- 16:08Speaker 4: That's seventy four defensively, and that that's where they got
- 16:12Speaker 4: to improve if they if they can get that thing
- 16:14Speaker 4: into the fifties. As far as national rankings, they're going
- 16:18Speaker 4: to be a lot better. I mean, and look again,
- 16:20Speaker 4: think about Missippi State in the context of you know,
- 16:24Speaker 4: breaking down games and breaking down weeks for Misssippi State last.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Year, all the close losses.
- 16:30Speaker 4: If you can play offensive football like you played it
- 16:34Speaker 4: last year, and I think you're gonna be better offensively.
- 16:36Speaker 4: If you're Missisippi State fan, I think State's going to
- 16:38Speaker 4: be better offensively. A Camark Taylor is going to make
- 16:43Speaker 4: defensives play eleven on eleven, and that is that is
- 16:46Speaker 4: tough to do when you have I mean, Trinidad Chambliss
- 16:49Speaker 4: makes teams play oh Miss eleven or eleven, arch Manning
- 16:53Speaker 4: Texas eleven or eleven. Meaning you have to account for
- 16:56Speaker 4: the quarterback in the run game. If you don't account
- 16:59Speaker 4: for the quarterback in the run game, they're gonna burn you.
- 17:03Speaker 4: You know, it's it's third and six, third and seven.
- 17:06Speaker 4: That team drops back to pass. Now the quarterback breaks contain,
- 17:10Speaker 4: which means he gets outside the pocket. The defenses down
- 17:13Speaker 4: the field covering the receivers, and he sees an easy,
- 17:15Speaker 4: easy stick, you know, to go grab, and he boomed,
- 17:18Speaker 4: gets the first down Camaro. Taylor's gonna make you play
- 17:20Speaker 4: eleven eleven. That defense, though, under Zach Arnett, if it
- 17:24Speaker 4: can improve, State's gonna win not only five ball games
- 17:28Speaker 4: this year, They're gonna win probably two or three more.
- 17:31Speaker 1: And they just are the law of averages.
- 17:35Speaker 4: I mean, you lose that many games by close, you know,
- 17:38Speaker 4: close outputs last year and then sometimes that flips this year.
- 17:43Speaker 1: That's just the way it is.
- 17:44Speaker 4: And you know, had a friend of mine text me
- 17:46Speaker 4: yesterday about, you know, Ole Miss and some other teams
- 17:50Speaker 4: if you were pretty healthy this past year off you know,
- 17:52Speaker 4: as far as health on your team, odds are you're
- 17:55Speaker 4: gonna lose a couple guys this year. And you know
- 17:57Speaker 4: you're not cheering for that, but you're gonna have a
- 17:59Speaker 4: guy go down that's you know, on the offensive line
- 18:01Speaker 4: with an ankle. You're gonna have a guy go down
- 18:02Speaker 4: defensive line with a knee. You know, something's gonna happen
- 18:05Speaker 4: to a guy that's gonna be a hip. That's just
- 18:06Speaker 4: kind of the way the law of averages are. Let's
- 18:09Speaker 4: see here looking at some of these other teams. Uh,
- 18:13Speaker 4: let's say I always go to the bottom. I always
- 18:14Speaker 4: want to see who the worst is. You Mass, You
- 18:16Speaker 4: could say that every year. I again, I don't know
- 18:20Speaker 4: what U Mass does or doesn't do in football, but
- 18:23Speaker 4: they are always at the bottom, along with Georgia State
- 18:25Speaker 4: and Louisiana Monroe and MTSU.
- 18:29Speaker 1: You know, Sam Houston's down here. Let's see, Southern Miss.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Won twenty eighth, one eighth out of one hundred and
- 18:34Speaker 4: thirty eight teams. Boo yeah, And again Southern Miss may
- 18:38Speaker 4: be better than one twenty eighth, you guys, you hope
- 18:40Speaker 4: so right. I mean, we'll see what what this new
- 18:43Speaker 4: staff does here. But uh, you know Bill Conley talks
- 18:46Speaker 4: about week zero. Uh he has TCU in Dublin by
- 18:49Speaker 4: five point eight points.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I mean, you got four ball.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Games and week zero that they're looking at NC State
- 18:55Speaker 4: at Virginia, Jacksonville State at North Dakota State, and then.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Memphis at UNLV.
- 19:03Speaker 4: He has LSU by nine point eight points against Clemson.
- 19:06Speaker 4: In Week one, Ole missed by five point four points
- 19:09Speaker 4: over Louisville and SMU by zero point four points.
- 19:14Speaker 1: That's half a point over SMU.
- 19:18Speaker 4: And also he's got what's interesting is Texas is a
- 19:22Speaker 4: one and a half point favorite in real Week one
- 19:25Speaker 4: over real house State. He has a house State by
- 19:28Speaker 4: seven and a half points seven. Bill Conley has him
- 19:30Speaker 4: bout seven and a half, which is interesting to me.
- 19:33Speaker 4: And he's got Oklahoma or Michigan by almost a point
- 19:36Speaker 4: zero point seven and then Arizona at BYU.
- 19:39Speaker 1: That's Week two. That's a big one.
- 19:41Speaker 4: In the Big twelve, he has BYU by seven point
- 19:44Speaker 4: nine points. We are brought to you by Taylor Power.

- 21:48Speaker 4: Turner on your radio, and he has sprinted up here.
- 21:52Speaker 1: He's coached. Thank you. How are you?
- 21:54Speaker 6: I'm doing well. Yeah, forgive me if I'm breathing in.
- 21:56Speaker 1: No, that's okay.
- 21:57Speaker 4: I mean, you guys are doing a lot today, like
- 21:59Speaker 4: a lot of schools. I mean, y'all are getting ready
- 22:01Speaker 4: for meet the Dogs tonight. You got a scrimmage tonight.
- 22:03Speaker 4: You've been watching films, so it's been a fast and
- 22:05Speaker 4: furious day for you guys.
- 22:06Speaker 6: Man, we're excited. Uh, you know, everybody's hyping it up,
- 22:09Speaker 6: but there's just noise right now at this point. You know,
- 22:12Speaker 6: you got so many guys that have elected to be
- 22:15Speaker 6: a part of this team and in this community, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 6: at Brandon and man, like I said, I'm sorry, Shaping, No.
- 22:20Speaker 1: You're good.
- 22:21Speaker 6: You're good. But it's so cool to see these guys
- 22:23Speaker 6: kind of buy all in. We're just talking to about
- 22:25Speaker 6: this off the air. It's like, man, these guys are
- 22:27Speaker 6: showing up then asked to show up? Who wants to
- 22:29Speaker 6: be in at five forty five in the morning. And
- 22:32Speaker 6: you've got parents that are trying their best to say, hey,
- 22:34Speaker 6: we're dedicated. So the fact that the kids are showing up,
- 22:37Speaker 6: the parents, like you're seeing the whole buy in from
- 22:40Speaker 6: the community saying hey, we're all in, let's go. So
- 22:43Speaker 6: from a coaching standpoint, we can't be more grateful, you know,
- 22:46Speaker 6: we're thankful for that. And so man, we're just thankful
- 22:49Speaker 6: for parents that are allowing us to coach their little
- 22:51Speaker 6: ones and they're to make them become you know, better men,
- 22:55Speaker 6: you know, for the future. And we've got some athletes man,
- 22:58Speaker 6: like I'm excited to see what going to do. Retired
- 23:00Speaker 6: of playing ourselves, I'm sure.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 6: Gach Hunter said that, like they know what we're doing.
- 23:05Speaker 6: We know what they're doing. We're like, all right, when
- 23:09Speaker 6: can we play? Man?
- 23:10Speaker 1: Let me ask you this.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Me and Rod with misospechprets Medis, we're just talking about
- 23:13Speaker 4: this and this is not a shot at Brandon and all.
- 23:16Speaker 4: This could happen anywhere. I was talking about it's amazing
- 23:19Speaker 4: how quickly you can lose it in football. And then
- 23:22Speaker 4: how quickly you can get it back. And what I
- 23:24Speaker 4: mean is you know and Sam Williams, you know him well.
- 23:27Speaker 4: You and Sam, I believe were at stayed together. Sam
- 23:30Speaker 4: had it rolling, and then when Sam left whatever whatever
- 23:32Speaker 4: happened last year just didn't work for whatever reason, and
- 23:36Speaker 4: they lost it. And now it feels like it's back,
- 23:40Speaker 4: like the energy is different here. Visiting with Tyson Robinson,
- 23:43Speaker 4: visiting with Slaton Shack, Coach Clinton, you know, visit with
- 23:46Speaker 4: Coach Hunter, visiting with yourself, and we've talked off the
- 23:48Speaker 4: air and stuff. It's it's weird how you can lose
- 23:51Speaker 4: momentum but then it can shift and you can get
- 23:53Speaker 4: him back.
- 23:53Speaker 6: Leadership matters right right, no doubt Coach Clinton's doing a
- 23:57Speaker 6: great job. He's given Coach Hunter and an opportunity to
- 23:59Speaker 6: just say, hey, do what you feel best. I'm putting
- 24:02Speaker 6: a ball in your quarter on defense for me and
- 24:04Speaker 6: offense for Coach Owner, and he's doing some things. I
- 24:06Speaker 6: love what Coach Owner's doing and bring into it for me.
- 24:09Speaker 6: It's kind of finding out what we can attain, you know,
- 24:11Speaker 6: coming from a college background, what can we absorb and
- 24:15Speaker 6: know because there's no reasons and putting something out there
- 24:17Speaker 6: that we're not gonna be consistent with right. But everything
- 24:21Speaker 6: that we do, uh, you know, defensively is all about alignment. Assignment.
- 24:24Speaker 6: We're I mean, we're really good. We feel comfortable with that.
- 24:27Speaker 6: But it's it's cool to see Coach Clinton kind of
- 24:29Speaker 6: just say, hey, man, I'm not going to try to
- 24:31Speaker 6: micro Hey, I trust the guys that I brought in.
- 24:34Speaker 6: You know. You know I was telling that we were
- 24:36Speaker 6: talking to a parents this summer is like, man, you
- 24:39Speaker 6: trust him, Like keep trusting us that we're gonna we're
- 24:41Speaker 6: gonna do everything under his leadership and to make this
- 24:44Speaker 6: thing like everybody's desiring to be right. And so we're
- 24:47Speaker 6: excited about it. We really are. It's it's just fun.
- 24:50Speaker 6: It's a it's a new chapter for me and my family,
- 24:52Speaker 6: but it's it's it's really fun to see this all
- 24:54Speaker 6: come to fruition. You know.
- 24:55Speaker 4: So for those that don't know, talk a little bit
- 24:58Speaker 4: about what kind of defense you're gonna put on the field.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Mentioned that you come from a college background. You know,
- 25:03Speaker 4: you obviously were with Jackson Academy last year part of
- 25:05Speaker 4: a state championship team. What kind of you know, kind
- 25:09Speaker 4: of your philosophy and just kind of you know, at
- 25:11Speaker 4: a at a high level ten thousand foot what a
- 25:13Speaker 4: coach turner defense looks like.
- 25:14Speaker 6: Man, we it really goes back to being sound like
- 25:17Speaker 6: I've learned this from a lot of people from being
- 25:19Speaker 6: in so this being my third year in high school
- 25:23Speaker 6: and it's probably the only time I actually say this
- 25:25Speaker 6: is just talk about me, Like I'm not the kind
- 25:26Speaker 6: of guy's flashy tweet, Twitter whatever, like or x whatever
- 25:30Speaker 6: he's calling now, Like I'm not a I've told somebody like,
- 25:33Speaker 6: if you know less about me, I'm doing my job right.
- 25:36Speaker 6: But if you know me, I'm not doing my job.
- 25:39Speaker 6: And so my background is more college setting, you know,
- 25:43Speaker 6: almost a decade in junior college with the East Smissippi
- 25:46Speaker 6: National championship with Jack Hilly and all those guys at
- 25:51Speaker 6: sorry you will, with Napier's last year there, we won
- 25:55Speaker 6: a conference championship with him, Delta State with Ron Roberts
- 25:58Speaker 6: and Pete Golden when he was a d C at
- 26:00Speaker 6: Delta State, you know, a national championship we lost, and
- 26:03Speaker 6: we won conference championship then, like I've been blessed to
- 26:06Speaker 6: kind of be a part and then obviously our thing
- 26:09Speaker 6: when the coach Doug and at JAA like it was
- 26:11Speaker 6: a fun experience to see different ways and how people
- 26:15Speaker 6: interpret it. But at the end of the day, it's
- 26:17Speaker 6: always started with the player led team. And so here
- 26:22Speaker 6: you have these caliber athletes that are player led and
- 26:25Speaker 6: they're learning their role. They might not be as vocal,
- 26:28Speaker 6: but their action led base right, And so that's what's
- 26:31Speaker 6: so cool. So you see the lot of buying going
- 26:33Speaker 6: back to where we were talking about, like a lot
- 26:35Speaker 6: of guys showing up the summer, pushing themselves even this
- 26:37Speaker 6: spirit like this fall camp, like hey, coach, we hear
- 26:40Speaker 6: let's go you know where these guys gonna show up
- 26:43Speaker 6: where they're not like it's a different high school. Like
- 26:44Speaker 6: I'm learning this stuff, but it's like like I don't
- 26:48Speaker 6: know the outside noise. I promise you I don't. I'm
- 26:50Speaker 6: off of media, Like I just a like the reason
- 26:53Speaker 6: I'm running up here is we were just meeting with
- 26:54Speaker 6: the defense staff, like going over things, Hey, how we
- 26:56Speaker 6: see this, how we see that, like or we're on
- 26:58Speaker 6: the same page, we teaching it the same way, or
- 27:00Speaker 6: were hearing the same thing, and we you know, are
- 27:01Speaker 6: they hearing the same thing. And it's just fun like
- 27:04Speaker 6: when you have all the sky's the limit, you know.
- 27:08Speaker 4: So you know, it's interesting to hear you say, hey, look,
- 27:11Speaker 4: I don't know that outside noise, and I believe you
- 27:12Speaker 4: when you say that. I was reading a story on
- 27:16Speaker 4: one of the Little League baseball team because you know,
- 27:18Speaker 4: a Little League World Series is going on right now,
- 27:20Speaker 4: that tournament is and one of the schools or one
- 27:23Speaker 4: of the teams rather said that they felt like their
- 27:26Speaker 4: level of success is due to they have a policy
- 27:28Speaker 4: where five hours before every game or every or before
- 27:32Speaker 4: every game, they make their kids put put their cell
- 27:34Speaker 4: phones and backs like their backs like you can't touch them.
- 27:37Speaker 4: We don't want the outside of afference. How important is
- 27:41Speaker 4: that to teach your young men that too, because we
- 27:43Speaker 4: know this young people. You know, we were talking to
- 27:47Speaker 4: Jacob Vinstra earlier and he was talking about AI and
- 27:50Speaker 4: how they're trying to teach kids in school that hey,
- 27:52Speaker 4: you know, it's a tool. It's not a friend, it's
- 27:54Speaker 4: not a social platform, but just to get guys to
- 27:57Speaker 4: buy in and then push out all the stuff that's
- 28:00Speaker 4: out there.
- 28:01Speaker 6: It's funny you brought that up because most recent guy
- 28:04Speaker 6: was TJ. White that I had on my defense over
- 28:06Speaker 6: at JAA and talking with him like he was all
- 28:09Speaker 6: about the social media, and it was the old saying,
- 28:13Speaker 6: you live by the sword, you die by the sword,
- 28:15Speaker 6: you know. And I was like, man, can't you can't
- 28:17Speaker 6: let the outside noise motivate you because that same energy
- 28:21Speaker 6: can also flip on you. Talking about earlier, like the change,
- 28:24Speaker 6: it is like a roller coaster ride, right, and so
- 28:27Speaker 6: like if you let that build you up, you are
- 28:30Speaker 6: also going to let that tear you down. And where
- 28:33Speaker 6: I'm trying to teach these guys, it's like who cares? Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 6: like even for me, who cares? If they don't think
- 28:38Speaker 6: I can coach you? What? Who cares? Like just the
- 28:41Speaker 6: coach Clinton and I were just having this conversation then
- 28:44Speaker 6: a very high percentage I'll just make it up. Ninety
- 28:46Speaker 6: nine percent of the time people were fighting with their
- 28:48Speaker 6: own self conscious and their own thoughts and their own
- 28:50Speaker 6: voices in their head when nobody else could care less, like, Okay,
- 28:53Speaker 6: you messed up. Keep it moving, like, don't dwell on it.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Like I teach these guys this, don't let life speak
- 28:58Speaker 6: louder in truth? Right, y'all were made wonderfully and perfect
- 29:02Speaker 6: right obviously in the image of God. But like like, guys,
- 29:06Speaker 6: y'all have a platform, y'all have a purpose. God has
- 29:08Speaker 6: blessed y'all with this ability. And you're at a great institution,
- 29:11Speaker 6: a great community. Go have fun, like in the means right,
- 29:15Speaker 6: doing the right way, but like like, go fly around,
- 29:18Speaker 6: go do your job. Little things matter, right, they've snowball
- 29:21Speaker 6: and the bigger things, so we can master the small things.
- 29:24Speaker 6: Everything else is going to handle in the big times
- 29:25Speaker 6: when the big moments come up, right, And so that's
- 29:28Speaker 6: what you're trying to teach these guys to say, believe
- 29:30Speaker 6: in yourself. That's the one thing when on conversation with
- 29:33Speaker 6: Coach Clinton before the hire, like we kept calling and
- 29:35Speaker 6: talking to since I've been in high school, even at JAA,
- 29:38Speaker 6: Like I found myself teaching young men to believe in
- 29:41Speaker 6: themselves rather than anything else. And it's cool to see
- 29:45Speaker 6: these guys believe and say, hey, man, like, Okay, I
- 29:48Speaker 6: messed up, but I can live the fight another day.
- 29:50Speaker 6: Like let's keep moving forward, right cause I'm a firm believer.
- 29:55Speaker 6: I'd rather see you mess up and let's learn from it.
- 29:57Speaker 6: Then you do a perfection and be like, oh I
- 29:59Speaker 6: ain't got and learn because you can't learn from me in.
- 30:02Speaker 4: Perfect You know, it's interesting because that's one of the
- 30:05Speaker 4: shifts that I've seen here, even just today visiting with
- 30:07Speaker 4: you and Coach Clinton and Coach Hunter is you know,
- 30:11Speaker 4: we can talk schematics, we can put stuffing it on
- 30:13Speaker 4: a board that looks real good. You know, we can
- 30:16Speaker 4: go three wide on one side and go two about
- 30:18Speaker 4: whatever you want to drive defensively. You can twist and
- 30:20Speaker 4: flip and move a lot. Today has been about this
- 30:24Speaker 4: culture and it's you can feel it's in Unison, Like
- 30:27Speaker 4: you guys aren't just saying it. This is what you're walking.
- 30:30Speaker 4: And we were talking about Chris Jones over at Hines,
- 30:32Speaker 4: who we do. I do Hines weekly with him and
- 30:34Speaker 4: on our radio station. And Coach Jones is a big,
- 30:37Speaker 4: big culture guy, and he will not talk to you
- 30:39Speaker 4: a whole lot about scheme, and he will not talk
- 30:42Speaker 4: to you a whole lot about It's like, hey man, look,
- 30:44Speaker 4: it's way more than just what we do on a
- 30:46Speaker 4: on a ball game night. Like I need to see
- 30:49Speaker 4: what we're doing in the mornings, in the afternoons in
- 30:51Speaker 4: the day. And I feel like that's where you guys
- 30:53Speaker 4: are here. Yeah, I mean, and I didn't really answer
- 30:56Speaker 4: your question on what's the scheme of.
- 30:58Speaker 6: Coach Turner, Like I mean and taking right, Yeah, but
- 31:01Speaker 6: like at the end of the day, like it's football man,
- 31:03Speaker 6: Like I learned from going back to what I was
- 31:05Speaker 6: saying earlier, like NFL guys, like I watched what's his name? Uh, shoot,
- 31:09Speaker 6: he's the DC right now, you will, Like I was
- 31:11Speaker 6: this contact he got in and and from what I heard,
- 31:14Speaker 6: he was like he was like, go basic, you know,
- 31:17Speaker 6: like just play simple football alignment in Simuth keys is
- 31:21Speaker 6: the number is the name of the game on defense, right,
- 31:23Speaker 6: And so if we are mastering that, we're mastering over
- 31:26Speaker 6: half of what defenses need to know right in order
- 31:29Speaker 6: to play football, Like if you line up, you got
- 31:31Speaker 6: a chance, right, and so here schematically and learning all
- 31:35Speaker 6: the schemes and stuff. Yeah, what coach Hunter does, I'm
- 31:38Speaker 6: a big fan of it. I'm hoping what we do
- 31:40Speaker 6: is going to be something that's like a monkey wrench
- 31:41Speaker 6: thrown into it. And I've talked to coach Davis multiple
- 31:44Speaker 6: times over at m ra A. You know, he's still
- 31:46Speaker 6: on the defense now. He's been calling me up like, hey,
- 31:49Speaker 6: what's your thoughts on this? And I'm telling my thoughts
- 31:51Speaker 6: and uh, you know, and it's just like just talking ball,
- 31:55Speaker 6: Like I got no problem talking ball. But my philosophy
- 31:57Speaker 6: with that is, you know everybody's coach. Dugan used to
- 31:59Speaker 6: get uh, mess with me about man, you will you
- 32:03Speaker 6: give things away rather than you're supposed to want to
- 32:06Speaker 6: be a receiver not a giver. And I was like, well,
- 32:09Speaker 6: the way I look at it is, it's like, at
- 32:11Speaker 6: the end of the day, I can have my mom's
- 32:13Speaker 6: recipe or my grandmother's recipe on making this one dish
- 32:16Speaker 6: one thousand percent. I'm not going to get it right.
- 32:18Speaker 6: So I can give you all this, But if you
- 32:19Speaker 6: don't know the rhyme, the rhyme and reason, the whine
- 32:22Speaker 6: and when what to do and why to do it
- 32:24Speaker 6: and why you're doing it, then I mean, good luck.
- 32:26Speaker 6: It's like throwing stuff on the wall and hoping it sticks,
- 32:28Speaker 6: and it's going to match the same way like Nick
- 32:30Speaker 6: Saban you can do his defense and his philosophy, Like
- 32:33Speaker 6: Kirby's not doing the same thing as Nick. I mean,
- 32:35Speaker 6: you heard Pete Golden say the same thing. When he's DC.
- 32:37Speaker 6: He tell you what he wanted, but then what he
- 32:39Speaker 6: liked and what coach you know, Saban liked and what
- 32:42Speaker 6: he didn't like, you know, but at the end of
- 32:44Speaker 6: the day, like you got to know the rhyme and
- 32:45Speaker 6: reason and you only learn that from culture, right right,
- 32:49Speaker 6: being in the fox hole, if you will, like understand
- 32:52Speaker 6: the rhyme and reason and what you saw and oh
- 32:54Speaker 6: this makes sense because of this and this and this. Right,
- 32:56Speaker 6: So anyway, we've all been there, We've had our pass
- 32:59Speaker 6: and our and and it all united us to this
- 33:02Speaker 6: point of being at Brandon High School.
- 33:03Speaker 4: You know, before we get you on your way here
- 33:05Speaker 4: a visit with coach Turner defensive coordinator he brand hig school,
- 33:07Speaker 4: le't ask you about one player, Trevion Washington.
- 33:10Speaker 1: How good can he be?
- 33:12Speaker 6: He's good? Uh, yeah, he's he's he can do his thing.
- 33:17Speaker 6: His is going to be the mental aspect, you know
- 33:21Speaker 6: forgetting moving on now. He is a he's that guy
- 33:25Speaker 6: and we were watching the play a while ago, is like, well,
- 33:27Speaker 6: technically he's supposed to do this, but he did this,
- 33:30Speaker 6: and he's just an Athlete's always gonna be an athlete, right,
- 33:34Speaker 6: So yeah, it's like dang if you didn't dang if
- 33:37Speaker 6: you did type deal like small things, right you go
- 33:40Speaker 6: on or to block you better make the play. If
- 33:41Speaker 6: you don't, you're gonna get chewed out, right, And so
- 33:44Speaker 6: it's just he is gifted. He really is. Like his
- 33:47Speaker 6: closing speed is uh uh, I haven't seen I mean
- 33:53Speaker 6: J T or TJ. White had some closing speed, but yeah,
- 33:57Speaker 6: this he's got some closing speed. You know. We made
- 34:00Speaker 6: a comment about that just when it comes to tackle,
- 34:02Speaker 6: like he's like in there quick. We've got some things
- 34:06Speaker 6: for him that we're gonna kind of allow the offense
- 34:11Speaker 6: to have to figure out what they want to do
- 34:12Speaker 6: with that. So but at the end of the day,
- 34:14Speaker 6: is that's all it is on offensive defense. You just
- 34:16Speaker 6: put your athletes in position what they can do, and
- 34:19Speaker 6: you just let them go play ball, like, don't over
- 34:21Speaker 6: complicate it.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Well, look, we appreciate you jumping in. I'm sorry you
- 34:24Speaker 4: had to run and do all that.
- 34:25Speaker 6: So all good, all good. I'm just ready for next
- 34:27Speaker 6: week when we we face off with Warren Central.
- 34:30Speaker 4: So it'll be fun. Coach Michael Turner. He's the defensive
- 34:33Speaker 4: coordinator here at Brandon. One more segment to go. Daniel

- 35:40Speaker 4: at Brandon Coach.
- 35:41Speaker 10: How you doing, I'm doing good, Man, Appreciate you for
- 35:43Speaker 10: having me on.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Man. Absolutely, it's always baseball, isn't it?
- 35:46Speaker 10: Always you're around?
- 35:48Speaker 4: So, uh, let's talk a little baseball. You guys had
- 35:51Speaker 4: another really good year this year. We were talking about
- 35:53Speaker 4: just how weird in baseball. People know this, how weird
- 35:55Speaker 4: baseball is.
- 35:56Speaker 9: Uh.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Pedal comes out of you know, the region as a
- 35:59Speaker 4: four seed. They go on to win the state championship.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Oklahoma came out of nowhere, you know, Ole miss did
- 36:04Speaker 4: it a few years ago, you said, you guys did
- 36:06Speaker 4: Baseball is just a weird game, and it's a weird
- 36:07Speaker 4: but fun game.
- 36:08Speaker 10: Yeah, it's all about getting hot at the right time.
- 36:10Speaker 10: That's why I can't stress too much over the way
- 36:13Speaker 10: season starts. It's all about how it ends. We saw
- 36:16Speaker 10: that in twenty four and we won it with three
- 36:18Speaker 10: freshmen on the field, and we're thinking it's more of
- 36:21Speaker 10: a rebuilding year and start the season off below five
- 36:23Speaker 10: hundred and find a way to get hot at the
- 36:25Speaker 10: right time and ended up winning state championship and again
- 36:29Speaker 10: enough to go back the second year, and Madison took
- 36:31Speaker 10: that one and then again Pedal last year started off
- 36:33Speaker 10: really slow, but Pedal had a really good team. Coach
- 36:35Speaker 10: Douglas did a good job with those guys, and again
- 36:38Speaker 10: they got hot at the right time. But they'd had
- 36:40Speaker 10: the talent all year, just didn't really play real well
- 36:43Speaker 10: early in the season, but then put it together and
- 36:45Speaker 10: they were gonna be tough for anybody to handle late
- 36:49Speaker 10: late in the season. And they were one that was
- 36:51Speaker 10: projected pre season in the top one or two in
- 36:55Speaker 10: the state, and both of us were up there and
- 36:57Speaker 10: ended up being both of us left in the South
- 36:59Speaker 10: so yeah, hats off to them really good year. But yeah,
- 37:02Speaker 10: they got they got really hot, and they were tough
- 37:04Speaker 10: to handle.
- 37:04Speaker 4: You know what's interesting about like baseball, just take Pedal
- 37:07Speaker 4: for instance, and I don't remember because I don't have
- 37:09Speaker 4: the stats in front of me. They didn't hit a
- 37:11Speaker 4: ton of long balls in the regular season, and it's
- 37:13Speaker 4: like when they got in the postseason, the ball just
- 37:15Speaker 4: came off the bats game after game after game. What
- 37:19Speaker 4: do you what do you attribute that to something like
- 37:21Speaker 4: that or you know, just something in baseball that teams
- 37:24Speaker 4: maybe were very average at, but then you get them
- 37:26Speaker 4: in a situation and you see it, you see it
- 37:28Speaker 4: in all levels of baseball, then all of a sudden,
- 37:30Speaker 4: they just wow you with it.
- 37:31Speaker 10: Yeah, I think that's just just like we talked about earlier,
- 37:33Speaker 10: getting hot at the right time that players build confidence.
- 37:37Speaker 10: That confidence bleeds into the rest of the team. A
- 37:39Speaker 10: guy gets hot and hits a home run, and the
- 37:41Speaker 10: next thing, you know, everybody's hip. The next guy gets
- 37:43Speaker 10: in there, he feels good about it because what he
- 37:45Speaker 10: just saw, and then he runs one out of the
- 37:46Speaker 10: park and they just get on a run and hit
- 37:50Speaker 10: multiple over over a few games where they may have
- 37:52Speaker 10: not hit any in previous games. Pedal was, like you said,
- 37:55Speaker 10: a little slow to start, but then put it together
- 37:57Speaker 10: and swung it really well. And that's that's just where
- 38:00Speaker 10: it goes.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Visit with Daniel Best, he's the head baseball coach here
- 38:04Speaker 4: at Brandon Thursday edition of your program. You guys, players
- 38:08Speaker 4: that play football play multiple sports. I know that you are,
- 38:12Speaker 4: but just talk. Some coaches are not an advocate of
- 38:15Speaker 4: specialization kind of where you've kind of moved and Ben
- 38:18Speaker 4: mean in your career as a head coach, and of
- 38:20Speaker 4: course you played ball, played at Southern mess where you
- 38:23Speaker 4: were on specialization or not.
- 38:24Speaker 10: For kids, yeah, I think they should play all they
- 38:27Speaker 10: can play, be well rounded athlete, competing year round. It's
- 38:31Speaker 10: one thing to practice part of the year and then
- 38:33Speaker 10: compete another part of the year. It's different for guys
- 38:35Speaker 10: that are competing year round, no matter what the sport is.
- 38:38Speaker 10: The year that we wanted, we I think we had
- 38:40Speaker 10: ten football players on roster that year and that's the
- 38:42Speaker 10: most we've ever had. Nine the next year and we
- 38:45Speaker 10: went back. This year, we're down with I think we
- 38:48Speaker 10: only have three with football this year. A couple of
- 38:51Speaker 10: injuries or we may have a couple more that would
- 38:54Speaker 10: that would be out there, but yeah, they need to
- 38:57Speaker 10: play it as long as they can play it. A
- 38:58Speaker 10: lot of these guys at this level are really good athletes,
- 39:01Speaker 10: and they're they're good enough to play both and come
- 39:03Speaker 10: over and pick up the next sport and be ready
- 39:05Speaker 10: to roll. And if you look at your rosters for
- 39:07Speaker 10: your your big time college programs or SEC schools, those
- 39:11Speaker 10: guys that are that they're signing to play baseball or
- 39:13Speaker 10: guys that were playing multiple sports in high school, they're
- 39:15Speaker 10: not guys that are that were specialized. Yes, there are
- 39:18Speaker 10: some of those guys, but but a lot of those
- 39:20Speaker 10: guys play both ways. And for me, I don't I
- 39:23Speaker 10: don't think you tell a kid or try to get
- 39:25Speaker 10: a kid to do one unless a kid is average
- 39:30Speaker 10: and not really playing a lot at one and an
- 39:31Speaker 10: elite at another one and he knows that right, that's
- 39:34Speaker 10: what he's gonna do and he makes that decision, then
- 39:36Speaker 10: I'm okay in that in that instance. But for guys
- 39:38Speaker 10: that are just wanting to compete and get after it,
- 39:40Speaker 10: just play them all, play them as long as you can.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Got a couple of minutes left here with coach Daniel
- 39:44Speaker 4: best head baseball coach. We've seen obviously guys from Brandon
- 39:48Speaker 4: want to play at a high level, uh, you know,
- 39:50Speaker 4: college and even beyond. We've seen here recently in the
- 39:53Speaker 4: state of Mississippi, from the Parkers, uh you know, to
- 39:56Speaker 4: Jackson Prepp players and others going to the major leagues.
- 40:00Speaker 1: It seems like the competition is stake. It's better every year. Yeah.
- 40:02Speaker 10: Absolutely, there's a lot of good baseball and a lot
- 40:05Speaker 10: of good players. You look at all the draft picks
- 40:08Speaker 10: here lately with with Connor Griffin and then Booth goes
- 40:11Speaker 10: in the first round out of Oak Grove this year,
- 40:12Speaker 10: Kevin Roberts goes all just really good players and there,
- 40:17Speaker 10: like you said, the Parker brother there's a lot of
- 40:19Speaker 10: them and a lot of them playing at a really
- 40:21Speaker 10: high level. They're not guys that are just getting picked
- 40:23Speaker 10: up and not really doing any They're guys that are
- 40:25Speaker 10: going in and competing like right off the bat. So
- 40:27Speaker 10: that just shows you the type of talent that they
- 40:29Speaker 10: have and the type of talent coming out of Mississippi.
- 40:32Speaker 4: He's daniel best head baseball coach here, Brandon coach.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Thank you for jumping in.
- 40:36Speaker 4: I know it's been a busy day and it will
- 40:37Speaker 4: continue to be tonight, y'all got what I think?
- 40:39Speaker 1: Meet the dogs for everybody tonight.
- 40:40Speaker 10: Yeah that's right. Get out here in the heat and
- 40:43Speaker 10: see the fans and go over here and do a
- 40:45Speaker 10: little home run derby on the softball field.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Very nice, coach, Thank you so much. Thank you Daniel
- 40:49Speaker 1: Best on your radio.
- 40:50Speaker 4: As we put a bow on today's program, I want
- 40:53Speaker 4: to say thanks to Brandon High School, thanks to Jacob
- 40:55Speaker 4: Instra that had principal coach GG and Clinton, Daniel Best,
- 40:58Speaker 4: Justin Hunter, Koala, Turner and Moore. We appreciate you guys today.

- 41:08Speaker 4: tomorrow Friday.
