- 1:51Speaker 1: game edition of Disguise Coverage, pretty simple, pretty straightforward. We
- 1:54Speaker 1: will be going over the Buffalo Bills twenty twenty five
- 1:58Speaker 1: Week one preseason law to the New York Giants, some
- 2:02Speaker 1: stock up elements, some stock down pieces to talk about
- 2:06Speaker 1: some players, some sides of the ball, some position groupings,
- 2:11Speaker 1: things that you have come to expect here from Disguise
- 2:15Speaker 1: Coverage as we get into you know, kind of close
- 2:18Speaker 1: to regular season. Board have been doing the postgame show
- 2:20Speaker 1: for the preseason. I think this is the third year
- 2:23Speaker 1: in a row, so I'm excited to kind of continue
- 2:26Speaker 1: on this trend for those of you joining me live
- 2:29Speaker 1: here on YouTube, as several of you already have in
- 2:31Speaker 1: the comments, and I'm gonna continue to go through everything questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, likes, dislikes, worries, pros, cons,
- 2:41Speaker 1: your stock up, your stock down, anything and everything that
- 2:44Speaker 1: you folks have on your mind coming out of this
- 2:46Speaker 1: Week one game, Feel free to put it up into
- 2:50Speaker 1: the comments. I will bring up anything and everything as
- 2:53Speaker 1: much as humanly possible. As always, super chats get the
- 2:55Speaker 1: priority one because I respect the monetary donation. Two, the
- 2:58Speaker 1: color distracts me from my notes and pulls me back
- 3:01Speaker 1: towards everything. So anything you got, feel free put it
- 3:03Speaker 1: into the chat. Let's have as much of an open
- 3:05Speaker 1: discussion as we can about this Bills start to the season,
- 3:10Speaker 1: even though it's kind of not live but it is, well,
- 3:14Speaker 1: it is live bullets, but you know, preseason aspect. Let's
- 3:17Speaker 1: see how everybody feels about that. But let's start to
- 3:20Speaker 1: go through. Just a tippy canoe opened up with the
- 3:22Speaker 1: first comment said, if you got a sponsorship with post serial,
- 3:24Speaker 1: this could be the post postgame coverage. Crunchberries is where
- 3:27Speaker 1: it's at. I think that's actually a really smart comment.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I like that Jason saying some almost real football to
- 3:32Speaker 1: have a postgame show about. Finally exclamation point, Ah feels good.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Oh I gotta stop because we've got a super chat.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Appreciate you, Greg, thank you very much for being here.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Thank you very much for the super chat. I don't
- 3:43Speaker 1: know if you had meant to have a comment attached
- 3:45Speaker 1: to the super chat. If you do put it in there,
- 3:48Speaker 1: you don't need to do a super chat again. Just
- 3:49Speaker 1: put whatever comment you got and I'll bring it in.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But thank you very much for the super chat, and
- 3:53Speaker 1: thank you very much for being here. Let's go. I'm
- 3:56Speaker 1: gonna rip through a bunch of the comment here, death
- 4:00Speaker 1: taxes and the Bills defense giving up third and longs.
- 4:03Speaker 1: That is an aspect we will I do want to
- 4:05Speaker 1: touch on that within this episode. I'll probably lead off
- 4:08Speaker 1: with it as we kind of go through several of
- 4:09Speaker 1: the comments because it was hilariously ironic, if not maybe
- 4:13Speaker 1: kind of painfully ironic, But I do want to put
- 4:15Speaker 1: some context into it. But yeah, it was a bit disappointing,
- 4:18Speaker 1: but also it's the preseason. It's hard to kind of
- 4:21Speaker 1: hang your hat on that being the expectation, but we'll
- 4:24Speaker 1: see going forward. Titan jumping on that as well, saying
- 4:26Speaker 1: so much for our d being aggressive. Juba comes in
- 4:30Speaker 1: and says, five and twelve is your assumption that the
- 4:33Speaker 1: Bills are gonna be five and twelve off of this
- 4:34Speaker 1: preseason loss to each their own, but I don't know
- 4:38Speaker 1: if that sound processed. Tim says, win or loss. It
- 4:41Speaker 1: was Bill's football and I loved it. Ben coming in
- 4:45Speaker 1: and saying in response to Titans comment, saying, to be fair,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it's week one of the preseason. They aren't playing anything exotic.
- 4:51Speaker 1: That is very true, Gordon. I see your comment here.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Thank you very much for the kindness. I didn't mean
- 4:54Speaker 1: to pull it up, but I like that.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Appreciate you.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Lou saying are we really going to be doing the
- 4:59Speaker 1: third down gnashing of teeth again this year? Okay, there's
- 5:03Speaker 1: my big ripe with Dwayne Carter being associated with that.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Yes, we will be.
- 5:09Speaker 1: We will be talking about the third down defense and
- 5:11Speaker 1: some of the pieces in terms of pass rushing coverage
- 5:13Speaker 1: in general.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Steve, what's up, Steve?
- 5:15Speaker 1: Steve says Jacob Byer cost us something specially, Yeah, maybe
- 5:18Speaker 1: potential game winning drive to go down and win things
- 5:20Speaker 1: in week one. Bit of a high snap you sell,
- 5:24Speaker 1: Bucil Buchelle. I never know which. I've heard it both ways.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna say you shall unable to get on it.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Giants recover essentially kind of ices and ends the game.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Comment here is saying from Azy and Swims repeat after me,
- 5:36Speaker 1: I will not overreact to the preseason kaya Morey's saying,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I'm disappointed we didn't get to see a shame you
- 5:41Speaker 1: shall legacy drive.
- 5:42Speaker 3: To Dion Cain.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Jacob following up Bass there John Roberts saying Jacob byer
- 5:47Speaker 1: Stock is down just to the canoe very uh way
- 5:50Speaker 1: to stay ahead of here, saying being healthy is the
- 5:52Speaker 1: biggest priority. Ryan mccowisch was saying ty Johnson looked good.
- 5:56Speaker 1: He did look good, and I think follows in conjunction
- 5:59Speaker 1: with Mars comment. You're saying, Frank Gore Junior is ready.
- 6:01Speaker 1: That's all I got to say. Yeah, Ti Johnson looked good.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Frank Gore Junior look good. I think most of us
- 6:06Speaker 1: know Frank Gore Junior had a really good preseason last year.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Looks like he's on track to have that again. Thought
- 6:12Speaker 1: he really looked good. Tim saying I enjoyed the flashes
- 6:15Speaker 1: from some of the young guys. The first team O
- 6:17Speaker 1: line had a fight on their hands with that Giants
- 6:19Speaker 1: D line. Yeah, we'll talk about that as we start
- 6:21Speaker 1: to get into kind of my official notes and pieces
- 6:24Speaker 1: going forward. But yeah, the Giants D line, I mean
- 6:26Speaker 1: the Giants defense in general. I like Andrew Phillips, you know,
- 6:30Speaker 1: coming back from last year. I like Tyler Nuban. They
- 6:32Speaker 1: add Javon Holland, they add Paulson to debo. We'll see
- 6:36Speaker 1: what Banks can be. As you know, the corner two.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Opposite of debo, but opposite of a debo. He had
- 6:41Speaker 1: a really strong rookie year, a bit of a down
- 6:44Speaker 1: second year. If he can get back to his rookie
- 6:46Speaker 1: form in year three, that secondary seems to be really good.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And even if Banks isn't solid, you have four other
- 6:53Speaker 1: players that are really solid. And then the front is
- 6:56Speaker 1: just nasty and the linebackers aren't anything bad to and
- 7:00Speaker 1: sneeze at either, especially like lit Karak there and even
- 7:02Speaker 1: McFadden shows the ability to make plays.
- 7:04Speaker 3: He had a nice scrape over the.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Top on the on the wheel against ray Davis early
- 7:09Speaker 1: on in the game. But yeah, that front is nasty.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Abdul Carter had two real clean wins the day. The
- 7:14Speaker 1: first one actually wasn't completely clean. He rushed inside against Torrance.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Torrean's got a piece of him, but Carter had the
- 7:20Speaker 1: edge and Torres kind of let him go to out
- 7:21Speaker 1: draw the holding. And then the other one he just
- 7:24Speaker 1: Carter beat Dawkins clean off the left edge with an
- 7:27Speaker 1: inside movie.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that front is gonna be nasty. Oh, interesting comments.
- 7:33Speaker 1: What are the chances More and Samuel don't make the
- 7:36Speaker 1: roster after Shavers his day today? I would say, I
- 7:41Speaker 1: think one, let's not react too much to one game,
- 7:45Speaker 1: but more I think could be a potential cut. I
- 7:47Speaker 1: don't think it was a guarantee that he's gonna make
- 7:49Speaker 1: the roster anyway. The tough piece with Samuel is if
- 7:52Speaker 1: you cut Curtis Samuel, he carries a dead cap hit
- 7:55Speaker 1: of essentially twelve point one million. Even if you release
- 7:59Speaker 1: him after or you know, June first, Yeah, you're getting
- 8:01Speaker 1: a dead cap hit of eight point six million this year,
- 8:04Speaker 1: three point four million next year. So Samuel, I think
- 8:07Speaker 1: is almost a not even almost. I think he's a
- 8:09Speaker 1: lock to make this team. I don't see them eating
- 8:11Speaker 1: twelve million in dead cap unless somebody really emerges and
- 8:17Speaker 1: or he falls off the face of the earth. So
- 8:19Speaker 1: what kind of see Max says, is there a schematic
- 8:23Speaker 1: reason why the Bills struggle to defend screen passes?
- 8:25Speaker 3: I think it could be twofold, especially what the type.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Of defense they are. If you're attack minded and you're
- 8:30Speaker 1: like a one gap penetrating, let's get up field type
- 8:33Speaker 1: of defense, your natural movement is pin your ears back,
- 8:37Speaker 1: let's go. You take some steps up field, and then
- 8:40Speaker 1: a screen pass gets hit behind you or gets hit
- 8:41Speaker 1: on the outside, and then if you're also pairing that
- 8:44Speaker 1: with like kind of the you know, the softer coverages underneath,
- 8:47Speaker 1: it just creates a lot of space, you know, from
- 8:50Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage to traditionally where the first down is,
- 8:52Speaker 1: that space gets filled with the blockers guys have to
- 8:55Speaker 1: come from. Depth angles are in question. If one guy
- 8:57Speaker 1: misses a tackle, you're almost done and dusted. So I
- 9:00Speaker 1: think it's a bit of just kind of who the
- 9:02Speaker 1: Bills are philosophically as a defense and within their identity,
- 9:06Speaker 1: it just kind of tends to work against them. You
- 9:08Speaker 1: have to really id the screen quickly before you get
- 9:11Speaker 1: into your drop, before you get into your rush, and
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think that affects a bunch of defenses, but the Bills,
- 9:17Speaker 1: especially because their front really is attack minded, get a field.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Then you also have smaller guys at the second level
- 9:23Speaker 1: Bernard Mulano, Tarren Johnson, So you have smaller guys trying
- 9:27Speaker 1: to fight through bigger offensive linemen and sometimes tight ends.
- 9:31Speaker 1: So it's kind of a perfect storm for them taking
- 9:36Speaker 1: taking a beating in that regard. Green Ducks is how
- 9:38Speaker 1: do you feel about.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Benching Josh Allen over a mustache?
- 9:41Speaker 1: Micah Why is the why isn't the third down defense
- 9:44Speaker 1: or why is the third down defense not successful? We're
- 9:47Speaker 1: gonna talk about that. John Roberts and the defense stunk. Yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and everybody's kind of going through Jackson with some positivity
- 9:54Speaker 1: saying Dion Walker was impressive. Ryan saying the rookie defensive
- 9:58Speaker 1: tackles flash good seeing them roll O Bosa, he looks healthy,
- 10:01Speaker 1: fingers crossed. Absolutely everything that we say positively in this
- 10:04Speaker 1: episode his fingers crossed, and no jinks. I want to
- 10:08Speaker 1: kind of preface that with everything, Lou saying I was
- 10:11Speaker 1: skeptical about the Walker pick in the draft. My goodness,
- 10:14Speaker 1: I may have been very wrong about him. He looked outstanding, quick,
- 10:18Speaker 1: violent and hard slash, impossible to handle. I'm excited to
- 10:21Speaker 1: see the tape. I always kind of reserve judgment on
- 10:24Speaker 1: offensive line and defensive line stuff on postgame shows just
- 10:27Speaker 1: because I feel like the broadcast doesn't do it just
- 10:29Speaker 1: the same thing with a lot of coverage pieces. So
- 10:32Speaker 1: I really want to get into the tape to really
- 10:34Speaker 1: give a full assessment or analysis or thought on the
- 10:36Speaker 1: trench stuff, the coverage stuff.
- 10:38Speaker 3: But I am excited to kind of get into that.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I appreciate the comment here, I'm here after an eight
- 10:45Speaker 1: hour shift and forty hours of nas whatever it took
- 10:48Speaker 1: to get you through the day. I appreciate you getting
- 10:50Speaker 1: through your day, and we're joining us here. Thank you
- 10:51Speaker 1: very much. John says, I like Tyrol Shavers. I like
- 10:55Speaker 1: Tyrol Shavers as well. We're going to get into that.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Jimmy saying, almost like their afraid to give up a
- 11:01Speaker 1: big play. I think that also ties into the screen
- 11:03Speaker 1: piece as well. If you're trying really hard to kind
- 11:04Speaker 1: of protect things over the top and put a cap
- 11:07Speaker 1: on an offense and not get beat vertical and get
- 11:10Speaker 1: beat over the top, kind of by default or definition,
- 11:14Speaker 1: there's going to be more space to attack underneath for
- 11:16Speaker 1: an offense, and so guys just kind of go through there.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Lou saying Frank Gore looks like he had more juice
- 11:23Speaker 1: than he had last year. A lot of positivity for
- 11:26Speaker 1: Frank or going out there. Titans saying, Jason, this is
- 11:31Speaker 1: always the response, but we do this in the regular
- 11:33Speaker 1: season two. We are bad on third down. It's not
- 11:35Speaker 1: a preseason issue. See a lot of comments on the defense.
- 11:38Speaker 1: John Saint Bill didn't have enough pressure, Mark saying, where
- 11:41Speaker 1: the hell was the defense. John Saint Bosa had a
- 11:43Speaker 1: lot of pop out there. You could see why he's healthy,
- 11:45Speaker 1: why he's elite when healthy. Yeah, I like Bosa, you know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: I thought he was one of the positive standouts with
- 11:51Speaker 1: the first teamers. It's kind of just jump right into,
- 11:54Speaker 1: you know, the preseason postgame aspect. I want to start
- 11:57Speaker 1: with the third down defense, and I want to say
- 11:59Speaker 1: on two things right. I tweeted this during the show.
- 12:03Speaker 1: It was very painfully ironic that the Bills had the
- 12:08Speaker 1: struggles that they did in twenty twenty four on third
- 12:11Speaker 1: down overall, like third down as an entire down, but
- 12:14Speaker 1: then especially with struggling on third and long like they
- 12:19Speaker 1: did in twenty twenty four. So for them to have
- 12:23Speaker 1: those third down struggles in general last season and the
- 12:25Speaker 1: struggle especially on third and long, it was painfully ironic
- 12:29Speaker 1: that coming into this opening preseason game of twenty twenty five,
- 12:32Speaker 1: that there was a good handful of third and longs
- 12:35Speaker 1: and the Bills gave up conversions.
- 12:37Speaker 3: On a lot of them.
- 12:40Speaker 1: And I'm also including the one where it was like
- 12:41Speaker 1: early on it was like third and eight and the
- 12:43Speaker 1: Giants got seven and then went for it on fourth
- 12:46Speaker 1: down and got the first down, So I'm also including
- 12:48Speaker 1: that is kind of like a third down even though
- 12:49Speaker 1: it's not a third down conversion.
- 12:50Speaker 3: I'm kind of throwing it in there.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it was disappointing to see, I will say
- 12:55Speaker 1: this and not to kind of put it out there
- 12:58Speaker 1: because we have seen what the Bills have been the
- 13:00Speaker 1: past several years. But for all the talk that there's
- 13:03Speaker 1: been this year of you know, Ryan Nielsen coming in
- 13:06Speaker 1: more five man pressures, more six man pressures, more more sims,
- 13:11Speaker 1: more creepers, more man coverage, all of that, if we
- 13:14Speaker 1: are going to see those changes this year to the
- 13:16Speaker 1: Bills defense again, changes in terms of how they've operated
- 13:19Speaker 1: schematically on defense in high leverage situations or overall the
- 13:23Speaker 1: past several years, we're not.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Going to see those changes in the preseason.
- 13:27Speaker 1: So I hate to kind of almost put a pin
- 13:29Speaker 1: in that, but we're not going to see the Bills
- 13:31Speaker 1: aren't going to come out in the preseason on third
- 13:33Speaker 1: downs and run a bunch of exotic five man pressures
- 13:37Speaker 1: or run a bunch of sims or creepers. They're not
- 13:39Speaker 1: going to start to get into their bag in that
- 13:42Speaker 1: regard because that bag is different than what they've been previously,
- 13:46Speaker 1: so they're not going to want to show that it's
- 13:47Speaker 1: very It's still going to be very generic, very you know,
- 13:50Speaker 1: quote unquote vanilla defense type of stuff. I will say
- 13:53Speaker 1: the one, the one that I really noticed in the
- 13:55Speaker 1: third quarter, I believe it was a fire zone pressure.
- 13:59Speaker 1: So they brought five and then it was three under
- 14:01Speaker 1: three deep. From a cover standpoint. They dropped Landon Jackson.
- 14:05Speaker 1: He was almost a pole runner in the middle of
- 14:07Speaker 1: the field. That looked like Jackson's covering somebody they're matching underneath.
- 14:11Speaker 1: They brought Jenkins on the blitz, and they brought Jordan
- 14:15Speaker 1: Hancock on the blitz. Hancock came almost like a free runner,
- 14:19Speaker 1: got chipped a little bit, but he heated up the quarterback.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Winston threw it, Dorning Strong got the PBu. That was
- 14:25Speaker 1: really the only glimpse of like something exotic or creative upfront.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I like that. I mean, I gravitate towards that type
- 14:30Speaker 1: of defense anyway. But I thought that was somewhat encouraging
- 14:33Speaker 1: because I expect I expect more of that from the
- 14:36Speaker 1: defense when the bullets are live, especially when Michael Hoyt
- 14:40Speaker 1: comes back. I think Hoyt is going to be a
- 14:41Speaker 1: big one in terms of front variation, versatility guys you know,
- 14:46Speaker 1: traditional guys and non traditional alignments, guys dropping into coverage,
- 14:51Speaker 1: guys rushing. I think a lot of that is going
- 14:54Speaker 1: to be wait and see. But it is annoying right
- 14:57Speaker 1: to see the defense kind of operate in a similar
- 14:59Speaker 1: vein as they have the previous year, especially after so
- 15:01Speaker 1: much the off season conversation was like, you bring in
- 15:03Speaker 1: Mike Pellegrino, you bring in Ryan Nielsen, You're so bad
- 15:07Speaker 1: on third down, and it's like, Okay, more man coverage,
- 15:09Speaker 1: more games up front, more five man pressures, more six
- 15:13Speaker 1: man stuff, sims, creepers, all the things we continue to mention,
- 15:16Speaker 1: like more marriage of coverage and pass rush, and then
- 15:18Speaker 1: they come out in the first preseason game, give up
- 15:20Speaker 1: thirty plus. There's a lot of space underneath for guys.
- 15:23Speaker 1: They're missing some tackles, and there's several third not even
- 15:27Speaker 1: several more than several third and long conversions. So I
- 15:29Speaker 1: understand the frustration I am in that boat. I'm just
- 15:34Speaker 1: not ready to get too upset about it because I
- 15:37Speaker 1: didn't expect to see the changes that I want that
- 15:40Speaker 1: I've been kind of clamoring for the past several years,
- 15:44Speaker 1: and I've been saying this, if you especially with a
- 15:45Speaker 1: regular watcher the show, I've been saying this for years,
- 15:47Speaker 1: like I wanted more blitzing from the Bills. I in general,
- 15:49Speaker 1: I just love simulated pressures and creepers and zone blitzes,
- 15:53Speaker 1: fire zone stuff. I love match coverage. I love mixing
- 15:55Speaker 1: in more. Man. I'm all about, you know, changing the
- 15:58Speaker 1: front and coverage structure post snap as best as you
- 16:01Speaker 1: can and making life hard on a quarterback, changing the
- 16:05Speaker 1: picture on them, keeping offensive offenses guessing and playing really
- 16:09Speaker 1: on the forefront or on the forefoot i should say,
- 16:11Speaker 1: and kind of dictating towards them. The Bills haven't really
- 16:13Speaker 1: ever been that, even when they've been a very good defense.
- 16:17Speaker 1: So I've been kind of clamoring for several of these
- 16:19Speaker 1: changes for years. And so I'm very firmly in that
- 16:22Speaker 1: camp of the Bills defense needing several tweaks schematically and
- 16:26Speaker 1: from kind of an identity perspective. I wasn't expecting to
- 16:28Speaker 1: see them in the preseason, not just in general in
- 16:32Speaker 1: Week one, but in preseason overall.
- 16:35Speaker 3: I'm not expecting that.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And even what's even more frustrating, again, like I mentioned,
- 16:39Speaker 1: like even if they don't do the things I'm looking
- 16:42Speaker 1: for to start the season, part of me is still like, well,
- 16:45Speaker 1: let's see what happens when Michael Hoyt comes back, because
- 16:47Speaker 1: I think he's going to be an important part of
- 16:49Speaker 1: the variety and versatility they have up front and tying.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Things in together. So we'll see. But yeah, it was disappointing.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I don't fault anyone for being annoyed, even if it
- 16:58Speaker 1: is the backups, even if it's pre seas and so
- 17:00Speaker 1: on and so forth. Just to all the third down
- 17:02Speaker 1: conversions in general in this game, but especially the ones
- 17:05Speaker 1: from third and long, and I kind of want to
- 17:08Speaker 1: pull up let me pull up the I want to
- 17:12Speaker 1: see what the final third down conversion rate was for
- 17:19Speaker 1: the Giants in this game. The Giants ended up nine
- 17:24Speaker 1: of nineteen on third down, so pretty good ratio. And
- 17:28Speaker 1: I wish I knew how many of those were third
- 17:29Speaker 1: and long, but it was. I feel like it was
- 17:30Speaker 1: at least six or seven, which is unfortunate. And John
- 17:35Speaker 1: was saying, yeah, not getting much schemed up stuff in
- 17:37Speaker 1: the preseason. I just like to see how individual players look.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'm right there with you. I'm not looking for too
- 17:41Speaker 1: much other than a couple of little flashes like that
- 17:44Speaker 1: one third down look that I talked about. I saw
- 17:47Speaker 1: that and I immediately made note of it. I'm gonna
- 17:48Speaker 1: pull That's gonna be one of the first plays I
- 17:50Speaker 1: you know, kind of cliped from a film perspective and
- 17:53Speaker 1: go in and look because I was like, oh, this
- 17:55Speaker 1: is nice to see. But I wasn't expecting too much
- 17:58Speaker 1: of that throughout the season, especially because it's not their identity.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I don't think they want to show that stuff or
- 18:04Speaker 1: show their hand early. I think they're just gonna work
- 18:06Speaker 1: on it more kind of behind the scenes. But we'll
- 18:08Speaker 1: see Titan saying the d line has to has got
- 18:12Speaker 1: to get home. I don't want to hear about pressures.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It struggles to actually get to the quarterback. I think,
- 18:16Speaker 1: you know, I feel you on that. I do think
- 18:19Speaker 1: you have to get home to kind of make the
- 18:21Speaker 1: pressures worthwhile. But I do think there was something to
- 18:23Speaker 1: be said for the value of pressures. I think my
- 18:26Speaker 1: bigger takeaway in this game was I felt like there
- 18:28Speaker 1: weren't a lot of pressures, especially from just a front
- 18:31Speaker 1: four perspective. Again, I think the table kind of put
- 18:34Speaker 1: more into perspective than just the broadcast, but I just
- 18:38Speaker 1: felt that QBS had too much time and I felt
- 18:40Speaker 1: like there was a bit of a disconnect between the
- 18:42Speaker 1: rush and coverage. But again, preseason, I'm not putting too
- 18:45Speaker 1: much stock into it, but I would like to see more,
- 18:48Speaker 1: I should say.
- 18:49Speaker 3: In that regard.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Gordon says, I don't love the pause with Hoyt. The
- 18:54Speaker 1: scheme shouldn't rotate around one rotational defensive player. I don't
- 18:58Speaker 1: think it's gonna rotate a revolt around him. I think
- 19:01Speaker 1: it's more his skill set allows you to do certain things,
- 19:06Speaker 1: and his skill set isn't tremendously common, not just on
- 19:08Speaker 1: the bills, but for a lot of guys. Right, So
- 19:11Speaker 1: I think it's more of a niche role and we'll
- 19:14Speaker 1: see kind of what he becomes, or maybe they try
- 19:17Speaker 1: to drop somebody into that role, or maybe we just
- 19:20Speaker 1: see more blitzes, maybe we see more man coverage. There's
- 19:23Speaker 1: something to cobble together. But I think I do think
- 19:26Speaker 1: hoy Is there's an element of chess pie SERI with
- 19:30Speaker 1: Michael Hoyd. Not to say that he's this great mismatch creator,
- 19:34Speaker 1: an advantage for any defense, but he is a bit
- 19:36Speaker 1: of a unicorn with what you can do with him
- 19:38Speaker 1: from a rush perspective, from a coverage perspective, inside outside
- 19:42Speaker 1: off ball. I think there's kind of a variety to
- 19:44Speaker 1: what he can be. And I don't think that's necessarily
- 19:47Speaker 1: a thing that's readily prevalent or available, not just on
- 19:51Speaker 1: the Bills, but on a lot of different teams. And
- 19:52Speaker 1: also especially for the Bills, they don't traditionally gravitate towards
- 19:55Speaker 1: those type of guys. I like building defenses out of
- 19:58Speaker 1: those type of guys. Are getting more of those type
- 20:01Speaker 1: of guys within that so within the defense, so you
- 20:05Speaker 1: can have more hybrid looks, more questions that the offense
- 20:08Speaker 1: potentially has to answer. But the Bills just traditionally have
- 20:12Speaker 1: not kind of gone in that direction. So those are
- 20:14Speaker 1: my thoughts on the third down defense a bit disappointing,
- 20:18Speaker 1: and Charles saying, I'm concerned about our defense versus the
- 20:21Speaker 1: quick passing game case he killed us with it, and
- 20:22Speaker 1: today it seeing the Giants had some success targeting Tray,
- 20:25Speaker 1: I really want to see the coverages I noticed early on. Yeah, Trey,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and I don't really think necessarily targeting Tray. I think
- 20:32Speaker 1: it was just they were working those kind of no
- 20:34Speaker 1: cover zones or that underneath space that to your point,
- 20:37Speaker 1: was readily available and readily prevalent. I think for you know,
- 20:40Speaker 1: to credit Tray, I think more often than not he
- 20:42Speaker 1: came up and did make some decent tackles. He missed
- 20:45Speaker 1: that tackle on the first third and long. I think
- 20:47Speaker 1: it was the first third down of the game, which
- 20:50Speaker 1: was disappointing, But I think overall he was, you know,
- 20:52Speaker 1: pretty good. Coming forward, We're gonna have to see what
- 20:55Speaker 1: they look like. And again with everything like being concerned
- 20:58Speaker 1: about the defense versus the quick passing game, I don't
- 21:00Speaker 1: think we're gonna feel better in the preseason. We need
- 21:03Speaker 1: to see it in the regular season because the way
- 21:05Speaker 1: they combat that, if they do play more man, if
- 21:07Speaker 1: they do play more press jam, if they do work
- 21:11Speaker 1: in more exotic looks and pressure packages. Again, I don't
- 21:14Speaker 1: think we're gonna see that. And I'm not saying you're
- 21:16Speaker 1: saying this, but I don't think we're gonna see that
- 21:19Speaker 1: in the preseason, which you know, for me just annoys
- 21:22Speaker 1: me because it's very much like okay, wait and see,
- 21:25Speaker 1: Like Okay, I see these things that I don't like.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Let's wait until the regular season to see if maybe
- 21:31Speaker 1: they fix it, like how much of these are red
- 21:32Speaker 1: flags versus them just not trying to not tip or
- 21:36Speaker 1: show their hand right now at this point, it's a
- 21:39Speaker 1: little frustrating, but you know, I feel you. I feel
- 21:42Speaker 1: you on that. Let's talk about, you know, some more
- 21:44Speaker 1: of the positives. We'll stay on the defensive side the box.
- 21:48Speaker 1: We started talking about the defense. A couple of really
- 21:51Speaker 1: nice flashes from TJ. Sanders, one in particular on the
- 21:55Speaker 1: first touchdown of the game for the Giants, the deep
- 21:57Speaker 1: one to low Jordan Humphrey from Jackson Dart. I tweeted
- 22:02Speaker 1: it when it happened, like it's gonna get lost in
- 22:04Speaker 1: the touchdown of the play, but Sanders, whoop, the left
- 22:07Speaker 1: guard stabbed, swiped the hands, got through, put Dart on
- 22:11Speaker 1: the ground or put a hit on him as Dart
- 22:14Speaker 1: put the ball up. That was a really nice clean win.
- 22:16Speaker 1: And then Dian Walker maybe like a couple of drimes
- 22:18Speaker 1: later beat that same right guard with some quickness on
- 22:22Speaker 1: the snap as well. So good to see those flashes
- 22:24Speaker 1: from those guys. Somebody in the chat earlier mentioned Joey Bosa.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I thought Joey Bosa did look good again. We all
- 22:29Speaker 1: know health is the most important thing with him, right,
- 22:32Speaker 1: But the amount of run defense reps that he got
- 22:36Speaker 1: today I thought was really interesting. My assumption for the
- 22:38Speaker 1: year really has just been kind of like similar to
- 22:41Speaker 1: von Miller roll with Bosa right where you roll group
- 22:45Speaker 1: and Epanessa with the ones and then Bosa comes in.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Kind of is like that headhunter that mercenary on third downs.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Mainly because of his health, you want to keep mone
- 22:55Speaker 1: pitch count. But as I've said, throughout his career, when healthy,
- 22:59Speaker 1: he's been very good, an elite overall edge player in
- 23:03Speaker 1: defensive end. Like he's good in the he's good against
- 23:05Speaker 1: the run. He gets talked about if he or most
- 23:10Speaker 1: of the things that he would get talked about was,
- 23:13Speaker 1: you know, the pass rush, the pressures, the sacks, the
- 23:16Speaker 1: force fumbles, all that kind of stuff. Right, But he's
- 23:18Speaker 1: always been a pretty good to very good run defender,
- 23:21Speaker 1: and we saw several good run defense reps from him,
- 23:24Speaker 1: and it maybe I'm very interested to see how much
- 23:27Speaker 1: early down work we see from him to kind of
- 23:30Speaker 1: fill out this season, especially again, if you have injury concerns,
- 23:33Speaker 1: do you put him on a pitch count? Do you not?
- 23:36Speaker 1: What's his role? How much is he rotating along with
- 23:38Speaker 1: rotating everyone else. I didn't expect him to play today
- 23:44Speaker 1: at all, let alone how much he played and then
- 23:46Speaker 1: how much he played on early downs. But I thought
- 23:48Speaker 1: he looked good and nice pressure at one point drive
- 23:52Speaker 1: in the left tackle back into the backfield. I think
- 23:54Speaker 1: that was one where he collapsed the pocket a bit,
- 23:56Speaker 1: and then Ed Oliver drove the left guard back and
- 24:00Speaker 1: got his hand up and knocked the pass down. So
- 24:02Speaker 1: that was really nice. I thought, folks, I had some
- 24:04Speaker 1: nice flashes today. Was encouraged by his play, and Oliver
- 24:08Speaker 1: looked good in his reps. A couple pressures, driving some
- 24:10Speaker 1: guys into the backfield, heating up the quarterback, not going
- 24:13Speaker 1: to pass down, had a couple of played nice plays
- 24:16Speaker 1: against the run. Ed's played with juice this offseason and
- 24:21Speaker 1: not this offseason, through training camp and through the scrimmage.
- 24:23Speaker 1: So I thought that was really nice to see on
- 24:25Speaker 1: the defensive side of the ball. I had hoped to
- 24:28Speaker 1: see more from Javon Solomon in this game, not necessarily
- 24:32Speaker 1: more in terms of snaps, but just kind of productivity.
- 24:35Speaker 1: And again not to say the broadcast is the definitive part, right,
- 24:38Speaker 1: I think a lot of it. You got to get
- 24:40Speaker 1: into the tape and really see kind of what was
- 24:42Speaker 1: happening and the whys behind it, But I'd hope to
- 24:44Speaker 1: see a little bit more from him. Similarly, for Landon Jackson,
- 24:48Speaker 1: I'm not the I wasn't the biggest champion of land
- 24:52Speaker 1: and Jackson coming out, mainly just because guys that are
- 24:54Speaker 1: high cut like him said it a bunch on the show.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Guys that are high cut really long legs and don't
- 25:00Speaker 1: have a lot of bend or flexibility to their lower body.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Those kind of dudes give me pause and worry me
- 25:07Speaker 1: a bit. So you know, I think the biggest stand
- 25:11Speaker 1: out for him today was a negative where he was
- 25:13Speaker 1: off sides on that Jordan Hancock interceptions. That was probably
- 25:16Speaker 1: pretty disappointing for him or for anybody kind of keeping
- 25:18Speaker 1: tabs on him. But again, one game, we'll see where
- 25:21Speaker 1: he fits in with the rotation and then kind of
- 25:24Speaker 1: work in everywhere else. I feel I saw Dwayne Carter
- 25:27Speaker 1: getting washed down a little bit, which isn't great, but
- 25:30Speaker 1: it's also kind of part for the course for him,
- 25:31Speaker 1: unfortunately with what he was last year. And I'm really
- 25:34Speaker 1: interested to see what t J. Sanders looked like against
- 25:36Speaker 1: the run what Dean Walker looked like against the run again,
- 25:39Speaker 1: especially with him having some nicer flashes from a pass
- 25:41Speaker 1: rush perspective, kind of seeing what that all looks like
- 25:45Speaker 1: in totality, and it's kind of moved towards I'm trying
- 25:49Speaker 1: to think anybody else on the D line that I
- 25:51Speaker 1: had notes for.
- 25:52Speaker 3: No, not really moving towards the second level.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I thought, Mulane continues to look healthy, quick trigger. Think
- 26:01Speaker 1: what the first play of the game is that passed
- 26:03Speaker 1: the flat triggers on it makes the stop. He looks
- 26:06Speaker 1: like he's getting back to that healthy version of himself,
- 26:09Speaker 1: and the healthy version of himself when he last saw
- 26:11Speaker 1: it several years ago, was an All Pro and one
- 26:13Speaker 1: of the best linebackers in the league. So really cool
- 26:15Speaker 1: to see him continuously moving like he's got health right.
- 26:19Speaker 1: No brace on the arm, no brace on anywhere on
- 26:22Speaker 1: his lower body. He just he's seeing, he's reacting, he's reading,
- 26:25Speaker 1: he's reacting, he's triggering, he's shooting, he's finishing really nice
- 26:29Speaker 1: plays for him and Joe and Reeson. I thought had
- 26:34Speaker 1: some positive reps. I thought he had a couple of
- 26:36Speaker 1: good ones in pass coverage, which is really the biggest
- 26:39Speaker 1: area for me that I think we need to see
- 26:40Speaker 1: improvement from him when he kind of balled out last
- 26:43Speaker 1: year against the Steelers in the preseason. A lot of
- 26:45Speaker 1: it was coming forward right him, shooting gaps, making plays
- 26:49Speaker 1: against the run. I thought the biggest thing for him
- 26:51Speaker 1: was improven from a coverage perspective, being able to robot
- 26:55Speaker 1: pick up routes, playing in some match coverage stuff, but
- 26:59Speaker 1: just being sound in your zone, not playing too soft,
- 27:02Speaker 1: not being unaware, and just necessarily covering grass, but kind
- 27:05Speaker 1: of being more efficient and productive. Not necessarily from a
- 27:09Speaker 1: stats standpoint, but I thought we saw some encouraging reps
- 27:12Speaker 1: from him today, But the middle of the Bills defense
- 27:14Speaker 1: kind of got picked on a bit at times, So
- 27:16Speaker 1: I want to see what that coverage element looked like.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Disappointing that we didn't get to see Shaq Thompson today.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I think he's competing for kind of one of those
- 27:24Speaker 1: depth spots. Especially Lauren says, season's over. Can't believe we lost. Yeah,
- 27:27Speaker 1: super Bowl window was closed.
- 27:29Speaker 3: It's done.
- 27:29Speaker 1: They should just pack it up. I wouldn't even bother
- 27:31Speaker 1: playing this year. Yeah, I wanted to see some Shaq
- 27:36Speaker 1: Thompson today, especially with Specter being done, and but you know,
- 27:40Speaker 1: Jenkins had some flashes.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Well, the Fohio had one.
- 27:43Speaker 1: That linebacker competition I think is really just depth and
- 27:46Speaker 1: special teams battling at this point. Although again Andresent had
- 27:50Speaker 1: a couple of nice stops against the run. We know what,
- 27:52Speaker 1: he's a good run defender, like, he's good triggering, reading,
- 27:56Speaker 1: he fits well, he understands where the blocks are going
- 27:59Speaker 1: and how to kind of get around them and get
- 28:01Speaker 1: through them, at least against you know, I should say
- 28:04Speaker 1: like not against the starter, because we haven't seen that
- 28:06Speaker 1: with regularity. But the coverage piece I thought was the
- 28:08Speaker 1: biggest question for him. So I'm interested to just kind
- 28:11Speaker 1: of put on the tape and see how we functioned
- 28:12Speaker 1: within that regard. Somebody said earlier in the chat, Jordan
- 28:16Speaker 1: Hancock looked good. Yeah, I thought Hancock had some nice
- 28:18Speaker 1: plays that third and one conversion for the Giants where
- 28:23Speaker 1: Hoyt got pinned inside a little bit, the running back
- 28:25Speaker 1: took it up the sideline. Hancock came from the other
- 28:27Speaker 1: side and gave him a good stick, drove him to
- 28:29Speaker 1: the ground. Should have had an interception. When he did
- 28:32Speaker 1: have an interception that was called back because of off
- 28:34Speaker 1: sides looked like the second level got good depth on
- 28:37Speaker 1: that throw and then the quarterback had to sail it,
- 28:40Speaker 1: and Hancock was right there driving on that route and
- 28:44Speaker 1: he was in position to make a nice interception. I
- 28:46Speaker 1: also liked that they blitzed him a lot. I thought
- 28:48Speaker 1: that was really interesting. It seemed I want to see
- 28:51Speaker 1: what the blitzeres were in response to if they were
- 28:54Speaker 1: kind of just a natural call in the field, or
- 28:56Speaker 1: if it was an adjustment to a motion or a shift,
- 28:58Speaker 1: or if they were coming against certain formations or certain alignments.
- 29:02Speaker 1: But he had a lot of blitzes today, and I
- 29:03Speaker 1: thought he was largely effective on them. I mentioned the
- 29:06Speaker 1: one on third down where he got the pressure and
- 29:09Speaker 1: heated up Winston that led to the throw and a
- 29:11Speaker 1: during in a strong PBu on the back end. But yeah,
- 29:14Speaker 1: they're really sending Hancock a bunch. I also thought it
- 29:17Speaker 1: was interesting too with the second teamers that to Corey
- 29:19Speaker 1: Couch was the second string nickel and that Hancock went
- 29:23Speaker 1: right in its safety. I was kind of wondering what
- 29:27Speaker 1: reps Hancock would see and where, and today it was
- 29:29Speaker 1: all safety, And to Cory Kouch had been working with
- 29:32Speaker 1: a lot of the safeties in. He was a nickel
- 29:35Speaker 1: at Miami, but he had been working a lot with
- 29:38Speaker 1: the safeties in camp, but he was really the nickel
- 29:42Speaker 1: for the heavy majority of the game. As soon as
- 29:43Speaker 1: Taron Johnson went down to Cory, Couch came in for
- 29:47Speaker 1: Tarn and pretty much ran as that nickel from that
- 29:52Speaker 1: time until I really think early into the fourth quarter
- 29:54Speaker 1: until Brandon Codrington kind of stay stepped in and stayed
- 29:57Speaker 1: in that role. Couch had a couple of nice plays,
- 29:59Speaker 1: and I think it was more due to the quarterback
- 30:02Speaker 1: being late than you know, necessarily Couch being in phase,
- 30:07Speaker 1: but he had a couple of good coverage reps from
- 30:09Speaker 1: the broadcast angle. I'm excited to see what else he did.
- 30:11Speaker 1: He had a couple of really good run fits. I'm
- 30:13Speaker 1: not worried about with him though he's good physically, you know,
- 30:16Speaker 1: in and around the box, tackling, making plays against the run.
- 30:18Speaker 1: We'll kind of see what he can be from a
- 30:21Speaker 1: coverage standpoint, because he's not the most athletic or fleet
- 30:23Speaker 1: of foot type of dude, so we'll see what that is. Richie, Corey,
- 30:26Speaker 1: Couch and I liked some of what we saw from
- 30:32Speaker 1: Cam Lewis. A couple of really good run fits early
- 30:34Speaker 1: on Cleuding one from depth again another one on a
- 30:37Speaker 1: third down conversion, Bolsa went inside the running back balance.
- 30:41Speaker 1: It was a light box. I think it was third
- 30:42Speaker 1: and one, and cam Lewis came down and made the
- 30:44Speaker 1: tackle for like a gain of two. So the Giants
- 30:46Speaker 1: ended up getting the first down by like a yard.
- 30:48Speaker 1: But it was a nice, nice fit from cam coming
- 30:50Speaker 1: from depth. I think he offers you a lot of
- 30:53Speaker 1: positional value because you're gonna get special teams reps from him.
- 30:56Speaker 3: He can be the second team nickel, and.
- 30:59Speaker 1: It looks like like safety three, maybe Safety four. I
- 31:04Speaker 1: don't know if I think Forrest is behind Hamlin and
- 31:08Speaker 1: cam Lewis at this point, it's just a matter of
- 31:10Speaker 1: who is Safety three? Is it Hamlin or is it
- 31:12Speaker 1: cam Lewis, And you know, just Jordan Hancock make any
- 31:15Speaker 1: noise in that safety room and in that safety battling
- 31:19Speaker 1: within that as well. I thought Dorrian Strong had a
- 31:23Speaker 1: nice PBu, but again, I really want to see a
- 31:25Speaker 1: lot of the coverage pieces elsewhere, some of his tackling stuff.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I had a mistackle on one. DeMarcus Ingram had some
- 31:32Speaker 1: stuff that he gave up underneath but came up make tackles.
- 31:35Speaker 1: But again, I don't know if that's necessarily on him
- 31:36Speaker 1: or the coverage. So that's something I think we need
- 31:38Speaker 1: to see come film time and tape time. What else,
- 31:43Speaker 1: anything else? Anybody got any thoughts, questions, comments, concerns on
- 31:46Speaker 1: the defense. I'm gonna go back take a peek at
- 31:48Speaker 1: some of the comments here before we move on to
- 31:51Speaker 1: the other side of the ball. Yeah, Dan Jackson got
- 31:55Speaker 1: torched on that early touchdown a little Jordan Humphrey, but
- 31:57Speaker 1: then it made a really nice play deep later in
- 32:01Speaker 1: the game, got his head around. It looked like he
- 32:02Speaker 1: almost kind of one hand picked it on a deep shot.
- 32:05Speaker 1: But yeah, I thought that, you know, I think Dane
- 32:09Speaker 1: is Dane at this point. I'm I'm really more concerned
- 32:11Speaker 1: on if not concerned, but can Dorian Strong and or
- 32:15Speaker 1: JaMarcus Ingram kind of supplant Dane Jackson. So you're looking
- 32:19Speaker 1: at a corner room of Benford Trey, not including Harriston
- 32:23Speaker 1: right now because he's banged up, But Benford Trey, JaMarcus Ingram,
- 32:28Speaker 1: Dorian Strong, or is Dane Jackson going to be locked
- 32:30Speaker 1: in his kind of.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Corner three, corner four?
- 32:32Speaker 1: And that means you're losing one of stronger Ingram or
- 32:35Speaker 1: even daikwon Hardy. But I think Hardy's kind of further
- 32:37Speaker 1: down now at this point. So I'm interested to see
- 32:39Speaker 1: how that kind of competition works. I don't, I don't know.
- 32:43Speaker 1: People are I don't, I don't. I think this is
- 32:46Speaker 1: referenced into what I mentioned the TJ. Graham pressure or TJ.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Graham Chier Sanders pressure earlier. The comment here from Titan
- 32:51Speaker 1: see this is the problem. Who cares if TJ won
- 32:54Speaker 1: when he didn't get home in time and stop the pass.
- 32:56Speaker 1: But he did him not he won that rep. I
- 32:59Speaker 1: think think that ball came out in about two seconds
- 33:01Speaker 1: or under. No one's getting home in that time. The
- 33:05Speaker 1: quarterbacks saw the pressure and decided to throw the ball up.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Dart saw the pressure, decided to throw the ball up,
- 33:13Speaker 1: and he ended up making a great throw. Like sometimes
- 33:15Speaker 1: a defender or a defense makes a great play and
- 33:17Speaker 1: an offensive player or an offense makes a better play
- 33:20Speaker 1: and they win the rep. You should care if TJ.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Sanders won the rep because he won clean. It was
- 33:25Speaker 1: a nice move and he got a quick pressure. It's
- 33:28Speaker 1: not his fault and it doesn't take away from his
- 33:31Speaker 1: win up there, that Dart made a great throw, or
- 33:35Speaker 1: the receiver got opened, or the corner didn't make a play,
- 33:37Speaker 1: or the coverage on the back end didn't match what
- 33:39Speaker 1: happened up front. You still should care about an individual
- 33:42Speaker 1: player's development, and them having a really successful play on
- 33:48Speaker 1: a downplay for the defense is still important. You still
- 33:51Speaker 1: want to track those those players. That's part of their evaluation,
- 33:54Speaker 1: like what are they doing that? That's why it matters,
- 33:57Speaker 1: like you, you want to see him getting through there regularly,
- 34:01Speaker 1: and that's with anybody. I don't know why you would
- 34:03Speaker 1: say who cares I TJ One when he didn't get
- 34:05Speaker 1: home in time and stop the pass, especially if you
- 34:07Speaker 1: look at that play like I feel like Dark got
- 34:09Speaker 1: that ball out in about two seconds. That's not on Sanders.
- 34:11Speaker 1: He won his rep initially and cleanly, and Dart felt
- 34:14Speaker 1: it and saw it and was like, all right, let
- 34:16Speaker 1: me take the one shot. And the shot that he
- 34:17Speaker 1: took was a low percentage throw. They just happened to
- 34:20Speaker 1: make it. I know, just based on how upset you
- 34:22Speaker 1: are at everything, you're probably gonna say I'm making excuses,
- 34:24Speaker 1: But I don't like what you're saying. Who cares? I
- 34:27Speaker 1: TJ one. You should care like he won. He had
- 34:30Speaker 1: a really good rep. You want to see more of that.
- 34:32Speaker 1: You want your guys on the up front winning quickly.
- 34:36Speaker 1: The more they do that, the more the offense is
- 34:38Speaker 1: going to have to try lower percentage throws and plays.
- 34:41Speaker 1: And if you play through the law averages and percentages,
- 34:44Speaker 1: odds are it's going to not work out for the offense.
- 34:47Speaker 1: We need the Bills need more guys up front winning
- 34:50Speaker 1: and winning and winning in some.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Way or shape or for form form.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I should say, budge or COMMENTCI for Jordan Hancock, mm hmmm.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Positive for Cam Lowise Yep, yep, yep. Steve coming in
- 35:05Speaker 1: and saying Shavers better be on the fifty three. He's
- 35:08Speaker 1: earned it. Yeah, we're gonna talk about the Tyrol Shavers
- 35:10Speaker 1: as we get into the offensive side of the ball.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Oh there's some I wasn't expecting all this negativity, but
- 35:19Speaker 1: fair enough, Okay, Man to each their own on how
- 35:27Speaker 1: they see see things. So you don't you don't think
- 35:31Speaker 1: like a guy winning one on one, beating his man
- 35:35Speaker 1: right off the snap and barreling down on the QB
- 35:38Speaker 1: and the QB just making a better play. You don't
- 35:41Speaker 1: see that as like a win for that individual player.
- 35:44Speaker 1: So that's not a win for TJ. Sanders because someone
- 35:47Speaker 1: else got beat or someone else made a play like
- 35:50Speaker 1: he beat his man almost instantly, but that doesn't count
- 35:55Speaker 1: as like a win. I don't, I don't. I know,
- 36:00Speaker 1: you have to get man. I just think this is
- 36:02Speaker 1: a oh man, we're on the extra preseason week one.
- 36:07Speaker 1: What is happening? What is happening? It's Ky Moore. He
- 36:09Speaker 1: says no positivity allowed and we lost. Yeah, I mean
- 36:13Speaker 1: again to easter On. I understand being frustrated with the defense,
- 36:16Speaker 1: being frustrated with the third down stuff, especially with what
- 36:18Speaker 1: we've seen in the past couple of years. Right, I
- 36:19Speaker 1: think the defense is very much kind of on the
- 36:22Speaker 1: chopping block with how they performed in the playoffs, and
- 36:27Speaker 1: not just last year, but kind of year over year,
- 36:29Speaker 1: even though they've had a lot of injuries. I think
- 36:31Speaker 1: people have kind of passed all of that to the
- 36:33Speaker 1: side and have said, like, the defense is bad, and
- 36:36Speaker 1: then you had the third down struggles in and everything,
- 36:39Speaker 1: and all of that you're saying, yeah, it's cool, I'll
- 36:44Speaker 1: shut up for wanting to perform. I also want the
- 36:46Speaker 1: Bills to perform. I just think you're being super pessimistic
- 36:49Speaker 1: and trying to pooh pooh anything that sounds good, because,
- 36:53Speaker 1: like you, even you called out earlier, didn't you say
- 36:55Speaker 1: in the comments that cam Lewis had a couple of
- 36:56Speaker 1: good plays. Some of those good plays he had were
- 36:59Speaker 1: still on plays that generated in first downs. So he
- 37:02Speaker 1: had a really nice tackle on a third and short
- 37:04Speaker 1: that the Giants got a first down on. So by
- 37:07Speaker 1: your logic, does that mean cam Lewis didn't perform on
- 37:10Speaker 1: that play because he made a good tackle but the
- 37:12Speaker 1: Giants got a first down. I'm genuinely asking. I would
- 37:14Speaker 1: like to know, because if he makes a good play
- 37:18Speaker 1: and you called him out for making some good plays,
- 37:20Speaker 1: he was making good plays on completions that were positives
- 37:24Speaker 1: for the offense, runs that resulted in first downs. So
- 37:29Speaker 1: I just don't know. I do want the Bills to perform.
- 37:32Speaker 1: So that was a loss for the Bills defense.
- 37:34Speaker 3: That TJ.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Sanders play I'm talking about, but that rep was a
- 37:37Speaker 1: win for Sanders. So obviously you gave up a touchdown.
- 37:41Speaker 1: That's a negative for the defense, but TJ. Sanders had
- 37:44Speaker 1: a win because he beat his man instantaneously and off
- 37:49Speaker 1: off rip. Yeah, I okayo lu saying, my big problem
- 37:57Speaker 1: from today's defense was Dwayne Carter. Dude just had so
- 38:00Speaker 1: many reps where he's on the ground. Yeah, I think
- 38:05Speaker 1: you know, someone else, I forget who DM me or
- 38:09Speaker 1: Messa with somebody said something similar. Actually a couple of
- 38:11Speaker 1: people said something similar to me during the game, And yeah,
- 38:16Speaker 1: I just I don't want to be too again because
- 38:22Speaker 1: I want to watch the tape. That's my biggest thing,
- 38:23Speaker 1: right I want to see what was, what the call
- 38:29Speaker 1: was from the offensive side, for the defensive side, what
- 38:31Speaker 1: someone's responsibility was, kind of putting all of that together.
- 38:35Speaker 1: So from that perspective, I kind of want to see
- 38:40Speaker 1: what he looked like and what he did. But yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 1: he continues to kind of get washed out field washed out.
- 38:45Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 38:46Speaker 1: It's also hard to see the interior all the time
- 38:48Speaker 1: from the broadcast angle. But I'm worried for him. I
- 38:51Speaker 1: thought he had a really down year last year in
- 38:53Speaker 1: disappointing fashion. I also think them trying to play him
- 38:56Speaker 1: at like one tech and three tech is necessarily best
- 39:00Speaker 1: just set him up for success, and that's hindering him
- 39:03Speaker 1: even more because he's more of a penetrator, get upfield
- 39:08Speaker 1: pass rush kind of guy who plays off the juice,
- 39:10Speaker 1: and if he doesn't have that juice and he's playing heavier,
- 39:13Speaker 1: I think it kind of catches him in no man's
- 39:15Speaker 1: land between two different kinds of roles, and instead of
- 39:19Speaker 1: allowing him to play both, it almost not even almost,
- 39:22Speaker 1: it allows him to essentially play neither, and that's not great. Oh,
- 39:28Speaker 1: Steve saying that rep with Sanders has looked at differently
- 39:30Speaker 1: if White or Benford was in coverage, if the pass
- 39:32Speaker 1: is incomplete, Sands Surrenders's win as a highlight. That's a
- 39:35Speaker 1: very great way to say it's Steve, That's kind of
- 39:37Speaker 1: what I was alluding to, I guess.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Without necessarily saying it.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Titan, you're saying cam Lewis did make some good plays.
- 39:44Speaker 1: There were tackles for no gain from the bot from
- 39:48Speaker 1: according to like some stats, he officially had no tackles
- 39:50Speaker 1: for no gain in that in that game against the Giants.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I just kind of want to put that in perspective
- 39:56Speaker 1: as well.
- 39:59Speaker 3: What, Yeah, we'll kind of see.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Comment you're saying. I get fans being frustrated with the
- 40:07Speaker 1: lack of pressures becoming sacks, but you are you are right,
- 40:09Speaker 1: and you want guys to win would be concerning if
- 40:11Speaker 1: Sanders couldn't beat any lineman. Yeah, you want to see,
- 40:14Speaker 1: just again, if the defense loses the rep as a team,
- 40:19Speaker 1: that is a thousand percent of thing. But there still
- 40:20Speaker 1: can be good performances within that rep. You know, you
- 40:24Speaker 1: might have great coverage on the back end, but nobody
- 40:27Speaker 1: upfront got home or generated any pressure. You might have
- 40:30Speaker 1: somebody win up front immediately and generate pressure, but the
- 40:34Speaker 1: coverage is too soft on the back end, or somebody
- 40:35Speaker 1: got beat on the back end. So there can be
- 40:37Speaker 1: a loss for the side of the ball in general,
- 40:40Speaker 1: but there can still be wins for individual players. I
- 40:45Speaker 1: guess I just didn't I didn't think that would be
- 40:47Speaker 1: so I didn't think I'd have to kind of explain
- 40:49Speaker 1: that out. I obviously you don't want to give up
- 40:51Speaker 1: scores and you want results, but I didn't think it
- 40:54Speaker 1: was It was so controversial to be like, hey, the
- 40:56Speaker 1: defense gave up a touchdown on this play, but this
- 40:59Speaker 1: guy I had a win on that rep individually and
- 41:02Speaker 1: made a good play. But yeah, Beato saying more things change,
- 41:07Speaker 1: the more they remained the same to defense and third
- 41:09Speaker 1: down conversion, Who's to blame it's the disconnect between the
- 41:13Speaker 1: pass rush and coverage.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Honestly, it's a lot of things.
- 41:16Speaker 1: It's the coaching design or the schematic design, I should say,
- 41:22Speaker 1: the disconnect between the back end and the front. You know,
- 41:25Speaker 1: relying on your and then tied into that too, is
- 41:27Speaker 1: not necessarily having the horses up front that you want. Like,
- 41:30Speaker 1: if you're just gonna rely on your front four to
- 41:33Speaker 1: win and beat guys and cause havoc, you have to
- 41:36Speaker 1: have horses up there, like Sean McDermott had with Carolina
- 41:38Speaker 1: when they went to the Super Bowl, or like the
- 41:40Speaker 1: Eagles had last year. You know, I know people are
- 41:43Speaker 1: going to point to that Super Bowl between the Eagles
- 41:46Speaker 1: Chiefs last year and be like, you know what, Yeah,
- 41:49Speaker 1: just you just need to rush for and you can
- 41:50Speaker 1: get home with that and play coverage. And you can.
- 41:52Speaker 1: But the Eagles had like seven, eight, nine guys deep
- 41:56Speaker 1: on that defensive line that were capable of getting pressure
- 41:59Speaker 1: and or winning the run like they were monsters up front.
- 42:03Speaker 1: So I think it's a bit of as it is
- 42:06Speaker 1: with most answers with football, it's like a bit of
- 42:08Speaker 1: several different pieces. I think it's one not necessarily having
- 42:11Speaker 1: the Jimmy's and Joe's to win individually, and then on
- 42:14Speaker 1: top of that, not necessarily doing anything schematically to kind
- 42:19Speaker 1: of overcome that or mitigate any areas where you're vulnerable.
- 42:23Speaker 3: So we'll see.
- 42:24Speaker 1: But I also think, too, we really need to wait
- 42:27Speaker 1: for the regular season see how much this is. This
- 42:30Speaker 1: is gonna change now, Like sitting here and having this
- 42:32Speaker 1: performance in the preseason, it's not ideal. But I'm also like, man,
- 42:37Speaker 1: if we're having this same conversation after week one where yeah,
- 42:42Speaker 1: they had the Ravens and I mean, then you also
- 42:44Speaker 1: too like Lamar's and Unicorn and can make those plays
- 42:46Speaker 1: all day. But if we're sitting here having these same
- 42:48Speaker 1: kind of conversations after week one, two, and three, where
- 42:52Speaker 1: the Bills have had like twenty third and longs on
- 42:55Speaker 1: defense and they've given up like fifteen first downs, and
- 43:00Speaker 1: it's a completely different thing. Like once you're starting to
- 43:02Speaker 1: show more of your hand and play with live bullets,
- 43:06Speaker 1: if the struggles are still continuing, then I think it's
- 43:09Speaker 1: time to panic a little bit more. Even though it's
- 43:11Speaker 1: not ideal today, But as far as blame, it's it's
- 43:14Speaker 1: really kind of a bit all over. I think they
- 43:16Speaker 1: just need to do more things schematically in general, but
- 43:19Speaker 1: also to kind of overcome some of the Jimmy's and
- 43:21Speaker 1: Joe's pieces. Oh we'll see Jason's saying a lot of
- 43:25Speaker 1: short sighted feelings about preseason games and performance.
- 43:27Speaker 3: No offense to anyone.
- 43:28Speaker 1: I don't know how you can judge preseason without studying
- 43:30Speaker 1: tape first, since.
- 43:31Speaker 3: The ask is different.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I think it's yeah, fair for with you know, depending
- 43:35Speaker 1: on what you're looking at. But yeah, I think that's
- 43:37Speaker 1: a that's a very first time. But it which why
- 43:39Speaker 1: always kind of put the disclaimer out there for like
- 43:41Speaker 1: O line stuff, coverage stuff. You know, we got to
- 43:44Speaker 1: see what they're rolling, what they're calling, and especially to
- 43:49Speaker 1: again like not even knowing that. But in the preseason
- 43:52Speaker 1: you're not really getting a lot of variety, or you're
- 43:55Speaker 1: not getting any game planning or situational calls. It's really
- 43:57Speaker 1: just like, hey, we're just gonna run our stuff. We're
- 44:01Speaker 1: gonna run our stuff. Hey we're gonna run our stuff
- 44:03Speaker 1: and kind of go from there. M hm hmmm. Lewis
- 44:09Speaker 1: talking about I just hope we draft the development QB
- 44:12Speaker 1: next year. Mike White looked decent, but the other seemed
- 44:13Speaker 1: to stuggle we're gonna talk about the VBS when we
- 44:15Speaker 1: switch over the offensive.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Side of the ball.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I want to grab any other comments here, buy anything else,
- 44:24Speaker 1: anything else? See more comments going in? All right, see
- 44:29Speaker 1: a lot of you guys having conversations with each other,
- 44:31Speaker 1: which is awesome. I'm not saying that negatively, but we're
- 44:33Speaker 1: saying okay, cool. Any other thoughts on defense, feel free
- 44:39Speaker 1: to put him in there. I want to move towards
- 44:40Speaker 1: the offensive side of the ball. We'll start with the
- 44:42Speaker 1: QBS because that was the most recent comment. I was
- 44:44Speaker 1: pleasantly surprised with Mitch Trubisky today. Granted Shavers was wide
- 44:51Speaker 1: open on that deep ball to kind of end the half,
- 44:54Speaker 1: but him making, you know, taking some more throws. I
- 44:57Speaker 1: felt like he's been timid the past couple of years.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I mentioned it on several shows over the last couple
- 45:07Speaker 1: of weeks, both on my show here and on other
- 45:10Speaker 1: shows that I've been on. I feel like Trubisky, what
- 45:14Speaker 1: happened with him in Chicago like broke his spirit. And
- 45:17Speaker 1: even in camp let alone the preseason, it's just always been.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Like kind of check it down.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I don't want to try anything. I don't want to
- 45:23Speaker 1: try and fit this throw I don't want to take
- 45:25Speaker 1: a shot. I felt like he was looking for some
- 45:26Speaker 1: more chunks and kind of taking some shots, which was
- 45:29Speaker 1: nice to see from him. Even the ball to Davidson
- 45:32Speaker 1: was pretty decent. I think I'm still a Trubisky throw.
- 45:36Speaker 1: But the ball to Shavers was good. He had to
- 45:39Speaker 1: throw on the run to Palmer, which I think he
- 45:41Speaker 1: could have potentially hit him a little earlier, but he
- 45:42Speaker 1: still got that done. It was nice to see him
- 45:45Speaker 1: moving and throwing a little bit, and I thought Mike
- 45:46Speaker 1: White had some nice throws as well. I thought overall,
- 45:49Speaker 1: again got to see the tape and see what reads
- 45:51Speaker 1: were available, what the concept was, you know, who's number one,
- 45:54Speaker 1: who's two, who's three, what does the progression look like?
- 45:56Speaker 1: But I thought both of them played fine today. I
- 46:00Speaker 1: had some moments on the back end pre this game.
- 46:03Speaker 1: I was very much Mike White over Mitch Trubisky. I
- 46:05Speaker 1: just thought Mike White had more kind of gun slinger
- 46:07Speaker 1: in him and was willing to push the ball a
- 46:10Speaker 1: little more and try some things, whereas again Trubisky was
- 46:13Speaker 1: very timid. But I thought both both played fine from
- 46:17Speaker 1: a preseason standpoint and from a backup standpoint. So we'll
- 46:21Speaker 1: kind of see what happens with good performances. I thought
- 46:23Speaker 1: for both qbs, largely from a box score standpoint, just
- 46:26Speaker 1: from a game standpoint, we'll see what happens with him
- 46:28Speaker 1: going forward, staying in the backfield. Just a quick, quick clip.
- 46:33Speaker 1: I like Reggie Gilliam. Give me more Reggie Gillium. The
- 46:36Speaker 1: run game started to click a little bit with him
- 46:38Speaker 1: in there. They were running some traditional counter and power.
- 46:40Speaker 1: It looked like with him, you can just do so
- 46:43Speaker 1: many things, whether he's a full back, whether he's an
- 46:44Speaker 1: offline tight end, you put him in motion. He had
- 46:47Speaker 1: that nice design to him with the or that looked
- 46:49Speaker 1: like by design. Again, I got to see the tape.
- 46:51Speaker 1: I don't know if he released on his own or
- 46:53Speaker 1: if that play was by design. Based on the timing,
- 46:55Speaker 1: it looked like it was by design. With when Gilliam
- 46:58Speaker 1: he caught that like twenty yard pass where came in
- 47:00Speaker 1: motion play action looked like he was gonna settle the
- 47:03Speaker 1: block and then snaps across the Trubisky's face right as
- 47:05Speaker 1: Trubisky hits the top of his drop and he checks it,
- 47:08Speaker 1: you know, checks it down to Gilliam. I really liked
- 47:10Speaker 1: that play design from Brady if it in fact, again,
- 47:13Speaker 1: if it was by design, but I gotta see the
- 47:14Speaker 1: tape for it. I like Reggie Gillium.
- 47:16Speaker 3: I think.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I just think he's athletic enough to do some things
- 47:20Speaker 1: that you want athletically in the past. But he's a
- 47:23Speaker 1: hammer as a blocker. There's a couple of runs and
- 47:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna show him on Twitter in the coming days,
- 47:29Speaker 1: like him just crunching linebackers. One. I think he crunched
- 47:32Speaker 1: Burns inside the one where Ray Davis like fell down
- 47:36Speaker 1: but then got up and still ran for another like
- 47:38Speaker 1: four or five yards. Reggie Gilliam caved that entire sided
- 47:42Speaker 1: like he ran the defensive end I think was Brian
- 47:44Speaker 1: Burns cut inside. Gillium logged him, pushed him down and
- 47:48Speaker 1: then caved in that whole side. That was beautiful to see.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Ty Johnson I see in the comments. Yeah, Ty Johnson
- 47:53Speaker 1: looked good. A couple of really good runs for Ty Johnson,
- 47:56Speaker 1: some broken tackles, stiff arms, some speed, some juice. I
- 47:59Speaker 1: think Ty Johnson underrated as a back. I think it's
- 48:01Speaker 1: awesome that he's RB three for the Bills. I think
- 48:04Speaker 1: he's more than capable of being a solid RB two
- 48:09Speaker 1: for a team. Davis looked fine today. Gore we talked
- 48:15Speaker 1: about earlier. Frank Gore continues to just look really good again.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I know it's the preseason, but man, he just his
- 48:24Speaker 1: movements like one cut. Guys seem to kind of melt
- 48:27Speaker 1: and fall off him. He's able to shake guys, break tackles.
- 48:30Speaker 1: He's got enough speed, He's got some shake to him.
- 48:32Speaker 1: He falls forward, he's got some power. Yeah, he's just
- 48:36Speaker 1: I don't think he's the sexiest in any regard, but
- 48:38Speaker 1: he just seems to be above average in a lot
- 48:41Speaker 1: a lot of ways. It was really good to see
- 48:43Speaker 1: him balling out. Even Darrnton Evans, you know, Darrynton Evans.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Get him running those little Choice routes or Texas routes
- 48:49Speaker 1: out of the backfield. He's nice. He's got some speed,
- 48:51Speaker 1: he can get up field a little bit. I thought
- 48:52Speaker 1: the Bill's running backs had a good day today. The
- 48:54Speaker 1: backfield in general, thin QB's made some nice plays. I
- 48:56Speaker 1: thought Reggie Gilliam had had some really good reps pass
- 49:00Speaker 1: catching one but several really good ones as a run blocker.
- 49:02Speaker 1: And then the running backs looked good receivers. You know,
- 49:06Speaker 1: go to it earlier I forget who.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Let me go back to it.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Who had it? I think I would say, I think
- 49:12Speaker 1: it was Charles, Yeah, Charles saying Shavers with the rocket icon. Yeah. Man,
- 49:18Speaker 1: nice catch early on, nice deep ball from Trubisky to
- 49:22Speaker 1: end to end the first half, even the incompletion to
- 49:25Speaker 1: start the second half with Mike White where it was
- 49:28Speaker 1: kind of that miscommunication. I think it was more on
- 49:30Speaker 1: White throwing to the wrong spot than it was Shavers
- 49:35Speaker 1: going to the wrong spot. But you could see him
- 49:38Speaker 1: stem that route release outside sell up field, Bank snaps
- 49:43Speaker 1: it right back down, sits down, created some separation. He's
- 49:47Speaker 1: had some flashes throughout the you know, the past couple
- 49:49Speaker 1: of years as well. But in a year where Samuel's
- 49:53Speaker 1: banged up. But again I don't think he's going inwhere
- 49:55Speaker 1: because of his cap hit, but Samuel being banged up.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Elijah Moore has missed some time, Kalushakir has missed some time.
- 50:02Speaker 1: You've got guys getting a lot of reps with the
- 50:04Speaker 1: ones throughout training camp, and I think that's benefited Tyrell
- 50:07Speaker 1: Shavers and a man I. Shavers has made a really
- 50:13Speaker 1: good case for being wide receiver five. He's also got
- 50:15Speaker 1: a really nice combination of like size and length and
- 50:19Speaker 1: frame and hands and also some long speed. I think
- 50:22Speaker 1: for a lot of people, myself included, I thought they'd
- 50:25Speaker 1: keep five wide receivers, and I thought the fifth wide
- 50:27Speaker 1: receiver would be Elijah Moore. The four in front of him,
- 50:29Speaker 1: I thought would be Kurtis, Samuel Khalushakir, Kean Coleman, and
- 50:33Speaker 1: then Josh Palmer. But if you told me the Tyrol
- 50:37Speaker 1: Shavers is wide receiver five right now, I don't think
- 50:39Speaker 1: that's crazy. Elijah Moore does give you the benefit of
- 50:43Speaker 1: kind of playing some of that Khalishakir role. So we'll
- 50:46Speaker 1: kind of see what starts to happen with him, you know,
- 50:49Speaker 1: going forward meeting Shakir and kind of how do you
- 50:52Speaker 1: supplement that role and then more being able to kind
- 50:54Speaker 1: of fit it in addition to wearing you know, multiple hats.
- 51:00Speaker 1: But Shavers look good and he's a guy that you know.
- 51:03Speaker 1: I think they during the broadcast, they had that quote
- 51:05Speaker 1: from Benford about you know, guy's pulling for him because
- 51:08Speaker 1: they've seen how hard he's worked. He seems to have
- 51:10Speaker 1: a lot of got his support behind him from the team,
- 51:15Speaker 1: And yeah, man, I thought he played really well today.
- 51:18Speaker 1: It literally. Shavers rocket ship up. Wilkerson I thought had
- 51:23Speaker 1: some nice moments today. Really wish he could have gotten
- 51:26Speaker 1: his feet down in bounds on that one handed grab
- 51:28Speaker 1: around the corner. That would have been crazy. But Wilkerson
- 51:32Speaker 1: had some nice moments. Gosnell finishes with some good stats
- 51:35Speaker 1: in the box score, but mostly garbage time, so I
- 51:38Speaker 1: kind of want to see how that kind of shakes out.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Saw some nice things from Palmer. I like the way
- 51:42Speaker 1: he stemmed his route on that cross or from Trubisky
- 51:45Speaker 1: we talked about earlier, where he released kind of hesitated
- 51:48Speaker 1: and kind of dead legged and then hit that cross
- 51:50Speaker 1: or separated against Banks and then continue to create separation
- 51:52Speaker 1: across field. I thought that was nice.
- 51:56Speaker 3: Didn't see much from Keon.
- 51:57Speaker 1: I bet again a lot of it comes down to
- 51:59Speaker 1: kind of what the offensive doing at that point, the
- 52:01Speaker 1: Giants defensive line causing chaos and having pressure, so the
- 52:05Speaker 1: receiver is always going to suffer anytime there's pressure or
- 52:08Speaker 1: anytime the qbs aren't necessarily up to snuff. But I
- 52:10Speaker 1: was really encouraged by Shavers. Wilkerson had some moments. I'm
- 52:13Speaker 1: excited to see the tape for both of them, and
- 52:15Speaker 1: especially on the Shaver's play at the end of the
- 52:17Speaker 1: first half.
- 52:17Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I don't know how he got so wide open. I
- 52:23Speaker 1: feel like, was it a busted coverage. Did he just
- 52:25Speaker 1: burn by somebody. I don't understand how you let somebody
- 52:27Speaker 1: behind you at the end of the first half like that,
- 52:28Speaker 1: But we'll see. But either way, good for him. He
- 52:31Speaker 1: had some nice moments in this game. Tight end oh Man.
- 52:36Speaker 1: A couple drops for Davidson, disappointingly, the second one over
- 52:40Speaker 1: the ball coming out of the backfield. I thought he
- 52:42Speaker 1: should have caught it, but it was a bit on
- 52:43Speaker 1: Mike White. White put it a little like it came
- 52:46Speaker 1: in a little hot and was a bit outstretched and
- 52:48Speaker 1: kind of hit Davidson more on one hand than it
- 52:50Speaker 1: did hit him in two. Had that deep drop, which
- 52:53Speaker 1: again the ball was a little bit behind him, but
- 52:55Speaker 1: he could have adjusted a bit better, protected himself, kind
- 52:58Speaker 1: of shielded the defender a little bit. But a couple
- 53:01Speaker 1: of disappointing drops. Disappointing dropped for Hawes. I also thought
- 53:04Speaker 1: we'd see more of Hawes in this game. I felt
- 53:07Speaker 1: like we saw just as much of the other depth
- 53:10Speaker 1: chart tight ends as we did Hawes, if not more so,
- 53:14Speaker 1: I thought I was a little disappointed in that I
- 53:15Speaker 1: wanted to see him a bit more. I also thought
- 53:17Speaker 1: we would see him a bit more, but alas we
- 53:20Speaker 1: did not. I really liked the tight end leak for
- 53:24Speaker 1: the touchdown to Dawson Knox. I think tight end leak
- 53:29Speaker 1: concepts and delays have a ton of value in today's NFL,
- 53:32Speaker 1: especially if you're a good running team, especially if you're
- 53:35Speaker 1: a good running team that uses play action. So love
- 53:37Speaker 1: seeing that. Also on that drive, something I just mentioned,
- 53:40Speaker 1: I love seeing them hit play action. They ran the
- 53:43Speaker 1: ball and then play action, play action, play action. That
- 53:45Speaker 1: drive was filled with play action. This team last year
- 53:49Speaker 1: one of the best run games in all of football,
- 53:51Speaker 1: but only an eighteen percent play action rate, which was
- 53:54Speaker 1: twenty seventh in the league last year. One of my
- 53:57Speaker 1: few qualms and gripes with this offense last year it
- 53:59Speaker 1: was it's criminal that they did not use more play action,
- 54:02Speaker 1: and especially with how the instructure passing game struggled at
- 54:05Speaker 1: times and how they struggled to generate explosives or create
- 54:09Speaker 1: separation or create chunk plays. Play action is such an
- 54:14Speaker 1: I don't want to say easy, but a nice way
- 54:17Speaker 1: to add separation or create explosives for you, or create
- 54:21Speaker 1: some space, create some tim says Pistol with the sad face.
- 54:25Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't see.
- 54:27Speaker 1: We didn't really see a pistol. But again, maybe they're
- 54:29Speaker 1: gonna bust it out in the regular season. They just
- 54:31Speaker 1: wanted to do it. They don't want to tip their
- 54:32Speaker 1: hand right now. I'm still still holding out faith for it.
- 54:34Speaker 1: If they are, and not all jokes aside, not even
- 54:37Speaker 1: to just play Devil's advocate. If they are going to
- 54:39Speaker 1: work in more pistol this year, we're not really going
- 54:42Speaker 1: to see it in the preseason. We might see a
- 54:43Speaker 1: player to hear from it, but if that's something that
- 54:46Speaker 1: they're really kind of tweak into the offense this year,
- 54:48Speaker 1: we're not gonna see it until the regular season. I
- 54:51Speaker 1: am still holding out hope, but we'll see. But yeah,
- 54:55Speaker 1: I love that play action drive that first touchdown of
- 54:58Speaker 1: the game. Again, they move, they work play action throughout
- 55:01Speaker 1: the rest of the game, but that second that touchdown
- 55:04Speaker 1: drive really felt like they were just you know, spamming
- 55:06Speaker 1: play action, which I thought is tremendous because it's an
- 55:09Speaker 1: area that I think will further help this offense ascend.
- 55:12Speaker 3: In twenty twenty.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Five and be an easier way to create some instructure
- 55:17Speaker 1: passing rhythm, instructure passing success, create some chunk plays, create
- 55:21Speaker 1: some twenty yard throws, create some fifteen plus you know,
- 55:24Speaker 1: being able to take the intermediate, being able to attack
- 55:26Speaker 1: the deep and then create some separation too potentially if
- 55:31Speaker 1: they can so. I like that as well. In conjunction
- 55:35Speaker 1: with the overall flow of the offense today, offensive line
- 55:41Speaker 1: I saw some issues in protection. I felt like Lunt
- 55:45Speaker 1: got driven back into the backfield several times. Again, the
- 55:49Speaker 1: offensive line I think is a bit of from a
- 55:53Speaker 1: death perspective with all the guys that are banged up
- 55:55Speaker 1: like Cedric vampiren Grangers out, Alec Anderson is out, so
- 55:59Speaker 1: the depth guys have are missing some bodies. Vandermark I think,
- 56:03Speaker 1: had a rough rep early on where he got some
- 56:05Speaker 1: push pull from Brian Burns and Burns just dropped into
- 56:08Speaker 1: the ground. But again, the Giants have a crazy good front.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Shout out to them for their starters and kind of
- 56:12Speaker 1: what they built and how they attacked. I really do again,
- 56:16Speaker 1: I don't want to pass judgment or decision on the
- 56:19Speaker 1: trenches right now, really for either side of the ball,
- 56:21Speaker 1: but especially on the offensive line.
- 56:22Speaker 3: Because I need to tape for that.
- 56:24Speaker 1: You got to see what the protections were, what the
- 56:26Speaker 1: run call was, what the past call was, five man protection,
- 56:29Speaker 1: six man. You know what they were iding and the
- 56:32Speaker 1: pressure that came, so on and so forth. How they lost,
- 56:35Speaker 1: why they lost, how they won, why they won. But
- 56:40Speaker 1: I thought they struggled at times. Thought they solidified a
- 56:43Speaker 1: bit as the game went on, But early on I
- 56:46Speaker 1: thought they struggled a bit sporadically and even just the starters.
- 56:50Speaker 1: But again, I think that's more of a testament to
- 56:54Speaker 1: the giants front. Giants got they got dudes up there.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Yeah, they got a squad on that side of the ball.
- 57:04Speaker 1: What else offensively, if you have question the thoughts, common turns,
- 57:07Speaker 1: anything on the offense, feel free to put it up
- 57:08Speaker 1: into the chat.
- 57:09Speaker 3: I'm gonna go back and start going.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Through where did ca Where did I leave off? Charles saying,
- 57:22Speaker 1: can Shavers be the wide receiver version of Ty Johnson?
- 57:24Speaker 1: Good on teams and can contribute as a wide receiver
- 57:27Speaker 1: when called upon? That's an awesome comp He would be lucky.
- 57:31Speaker 1: I not say lucky like it's out of Roman possibility,
- 57:34Speaker 1: but if we got that, like, he would be lucky.
- 57:36Speaker 1: To be the wide receiver version of Ti Johnson. That
- 57:37Speaker 1: would be very successful and I would take that. If
- 57:39Speaker 1: you could give me that, I would take that. Elashaar
- 57:43Speaker 1: is saying, if Davidson wants to make this team, he
- 57:45Speaker 1: better catch every pass that comes his way, because we
- 57:47Speaker 1: all know he's not much of a blocker. You have
- 57:49Speaker 1: very fair Connor talks Buffalo reping Ty Johnson. Yep, Ty Johnson,
- 57:55Speaker 1: you like we talked about Ben. I had a good
- 57:57Speaker 1: day today. Kay Morey's saying, I think all the running
- 57:59Speaker 1: backs show good flashes. Yeah, I you know, similar to
- 58:01Speaker 1: kind of last offseason or last off season, last preseason
- 58:04Speaker 1: where the running backs all had good days. Yeah.
- 58:07Speaker 3: I thought the running backs looked good today.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Gordon saying Jackson Hawes's drops were disappointing. Was it
- 58:12Speaker 1: drops plural or was it one? It might have been two,
- 58:16Speaker 1: but yeah, disappointing. Richard saying Jordan Hancock was pretty good
- 58:20Speaker 1: out there. Great athleticism, look quick. I agree. I agree, Yeah,
- 58:24Speaker 1: Gordon messing this to a lot of guys slipping today. Yeah.
- 58:26Speaker 1: I don't know if it was the field or guys
- 58:28Speaker 1: picked the one kind of cleats, but a lot of
- 58:29Speaker 1: guys were you know, having lack of stability in their
- 58:33Speaker 1: footing coming forward, dropping backs. I decided I didn't know
- 58:36Speaker 1: what was going on, disappointing Mark saying and thinking, I'd
- 58:41Speaker 1: rather keep Shavers is the sixth wide receiver instead of
- 58:44Speaker 1: exposing him to the practice squad. I'd cut Dwayne Carter
- 58:49Speaker 1: as opposed to Shavers on ability as a gunner on
- 58:52Speaker 1: special teams. If they can get quality special teams reps
- 58:59Speaker 1: from time rel Shavers, that would be absolutely tremendous. If
- 59:05Speaker 1: they could get that from him in some form or fashion.
- 59:08Speaker 1: I'm trying to think right now, little bit. Yes, some
- 59:13Speaker 1: kick return and some punt return last year twenty twenty three,
- 59:17Speaker 1: no special teams snaps. Yeah, if they can get something
- 59:20Speaker 1: out of him on special teams, like if he can
- 59:21Speaker 1: be a gunner, especially with that length and that long
- 59:23Speaker 1: speed in the size and frame, that would be great.
- 59:26Speaker 3: I do think it's hard for Carter.
- 59:29Speaker 1: If Larry Ogunjobi wasn't suspended, your top four is pretty
- 59:33Speaker 1: locked at at Oliver Daikwon Jones, Larry Ogunjoby, and TJ. Sanders,
- 59:38Speaker 1: And then if you're keeping a fifth defensive tackle, I
- 59:40Speaker 1: really think it's between Carter and Walker and The big
- 59:43Speaker 1: thing was just was Carter or was Walker going to
- 59:45Speaker 1: be healthy? Could he repurpose some of his body weight,
- 59:47Speaker 1: change his body composition, get his back and right shape.
- 59:52Speaker 1: At this point, even though it's just one game, the
- 59:53Speaker 1: small set, the sample size is far too small, but
- 59:56Speaker 1: he's shown more flashes than Carter. I'm fine if you
- 59:59Speaker 1: wanted to cut hard to keep Shavers or if it's
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: cutting Carter too, because Walker's making it ahead of him.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: I said it coming into.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: This season, I thought Carter, you know, depending on what
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: the Bills did on their defensive line, it was gonna
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: be a little worrisome for him and the Bills drafting
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Sanders and Walker and trading up for both of them.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: I think it's hey, I think it's yeah.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I feel like there's a chance Carter could be odd
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: man out, which is unfortunate for him and for the
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Bills because they used the third round pick on him
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: last year. Josh saying, Hawes might be my favorite draft pick.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: You could see his strength, which he didn't drop that pass,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: but it was cool to see the blocking. Everyone has
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: been talking about dude as a monster and a masher
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: as a runner, as a run blocker, He's also got
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: some bursts and some explosion in the zero to ten
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: yard areas. But yeah, I can't drop that pass. Can't
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: drop that pass this point, Lawrence s has so many
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: ole Miss players scoring points in this game. Very fair.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Oh good call here, Gordon. I did not see the presser,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: so I like hearing this, Gordon says, McDermot said, and
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: his presser. He needs to see Shavers do more in
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: special teams. They know what he is at wide receiver.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: That's interesting because they know what he is at wide receiver.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: That makes me think do they already think like what
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: he's shown is what he is, or do they think
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: he can do more and they think that he will
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: do more. That's very interesting, Very interesting, Steve says, some
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: of us forget Shaver's ran a four three seven, which
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: is amazing at his size. Did he run a four
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: three seven? I'm not saying you're incorrect. I did not
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: know that. I knew it was faster than you would think.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: But fair. Jefferson's of them just here for the sparkler
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: versus snake talk. I love snakes and Sparklers. Great Joe
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Dirt reference. Mm hmmm, loucing early in the game. It
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: looked like our offensive line was surprised, question mark by
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: the violence from the Giants d line. Carter got Dawkins once,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: and I'm just not used to seeing anyone do that. Yeah,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: he got them on an inside move that I talked
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: about earlier. Was real clean, real nice. I don't know.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I think some teams get you know, get geeked up
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: more for preseason maybe than others. I don't know if
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: it was the Giants care more, of the Bills cared less.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: The Giants are better, the Bills are not. There's any
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: complacency there. I also think Abdul Carter is just really
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: frigging good and it's possible to get got by anybody
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: at any time, any given Sunday. But yeah, it looked
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: like they were pretty juiced up to start the game.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: I will say that. But I also think they're just
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: a good unit. I think that Giants defensive line is
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: going to be a problem for a lot of offenses
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: to deal with us, not even because they have talent,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: but they've got rotational ability, like just what they are
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: from a high end standpoint, you know you have Abdul Carter,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: you've got Dexter Lawrence is one of the best defensive
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: tackles in all the football. Then you have Abdul Carter,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: You've got Brian Burns, and then what you get from
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: just the rest of that grouping on the interior, even
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: you know Roy Robertson Harris I think is an underrated
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: type of player. And then you're parent again with the
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: second level dudes, like we talked about Bobby o'caarak is
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: a nice piece Mike with Mike mcfadd and I forgot
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: about freaking Cavon Thibodeau. Like, they just have dudes who
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: can rotate. They're just mean and quick and violent and nasty. Yeah,
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: they gotta, they gotta, they gotta. They got a good group,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: like I don't. I don't know what else to say.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: They got a good group. Bum oh good pull from
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Charles Charles saying Shavers was an outstanding gunner in college.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I thought he played good teams, but I could not remember.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: That's fair, Tim says, I thought the Laviska. I thought
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Leviiska should not kept his hive on life support. That's
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: fair he did. I think that's fine. Yeah, Elish are
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: saying aunt Landon Jackson doesn't seem to have much of
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: a pass rush arsenal. What are your thoughts of his
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: play of late and what are your expectations for him
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: this year. Yeah, I don't think he has much of
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: an arsenal. I think he's really just a compression guy
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: and a cross chopped guy. He can extend that long arm,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: drive somebody into the backfield, or kind of just go
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: through them speed to power, use that length and create
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: some leverage and drive a guy into the backfield, compress
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: the pocket, or he'll use that cross chop, pin the
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: outside arm in and try.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: And get around the arc.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: But I don't think he has much from a move
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: set standpoint, And I also wonder what he can get
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: to because, like I mentioned earlier, he.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Is high cut, so he's got long.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Legs, and he doesn't have a lot of you bend
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: flexibility dip to him because of how he's built physically,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: so there's only so much you can do. I think
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: he really is always kind of gonna be a compression
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: guy and a power type of guy, where it's just
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: let me play good run defense, let me set the edge,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: and let.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Me try to go through guys.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: My expectations for him this year are more of a
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: bottom of the depth chart type of role. I think
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: if everyone's healthy at edge and when Hoyt is back
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: from suspension, your top four, not necessarily in disorder, are Russou, Epanessa,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Bosa and Hoyt. That's what you're getting at edge, and
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: then on third downs or certain situational elements, they'll hoit
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: inside and do different things with him or line him
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: up as that spinner hopefully. So I really think it
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: comes down to do the Bills keep five defensive ends
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: and is that fifth defensive end of von Solomon or
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: land In Jackson. I think Jackson could get more snaps
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: him or for Solomon, they could get more snaps if
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Bosa misses time, especially in those first six weeks while
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Hoyde is out. But I don't really have the highest
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: expectations for land and Jackson. I wasn't too high on
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: him coming out of college. I think the value was
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: fine in the third round considering where a lot of
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: people had him pegged and what I think his floor is,
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: which is a good run defending edge who can compress
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: the pocket a little bit, great motor, plays with violence,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: plays with tenacity, but because of the physical build, I.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: Think that limits him a bit.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: So my expectations from him are just kind of like
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: a bottom of the depth chart contributor. This year. You
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: can kind of see what he pairs that together with
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: how he develops, and he can kind of stack some
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: things and improve. Okay, what else? Good call from Lauren.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Lauren says Hard Knocks will probably highlight Shavers. Now, I
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: that's fair, that is fair that in the contract situation.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I think that think the I think the lead in
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I'm calling it now, I'm gonna shoot my shot. The
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: lead in for episode two is they do the intro
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: or maybe it's even before if they do like the
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: cold open type of deal. But I think the opening,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: like the main opening shot is Cook from that Sunday
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: practice two days after the scrimmage, him and his white hat,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: the white top, the white pants, sitting.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: On the bike, riding the bike.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: That's what I think the opening shot is, or something
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: of like Cook walking or not practicing or just standing.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: I think the first like fifteen minutes highlight Cook or
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: focus on the Cook contract situation. And then yeah, maybe Shavers,
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: especially with the injury and he balled out in this game,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: maybe they show footage and when he got that injury
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: on that first Sunday practice and everybody got carted off
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: and all the players were checking on him. And going
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: from that to play really well in this game. I
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: think that's a good call. I think Shavers gets a
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: highlight and I think Cook gets focused. Yeah that and
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: seeing comm Yeah comment here that Giants d line is serious,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: but yeah they are no nonsense and they got some
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: do it on the back end.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: They could play.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Man mm hmmmm hmm. Okaymore so, I think the Giants
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: will not be great at the very but uh will
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: not be great, but at the very least fun with
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: their defense at some of their offense. Yeah, I think,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: you know, we'll see what Russ does. I think they'd
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: be more fun on offense with Jackson Dart. But even
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: just like throwing moon balls to Malik Neighbors from Russ
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: to Neighbors, that should be fun in and of itself,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: and that defense on top of it, Yeah, you could
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: get that. Spirits saying even though Bosa did not show
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: up on the statue, he was consistently getting pressure. I
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: think that's fine. What Marx's and looking at the roster
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: projection I posted, I think safety is an area for improvement.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: What do you think about adding Justin Simmons. I didn't
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: want watch him with Atlanta last year, so I don't
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: know what he was last year. My most recent tape
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: study of him was from twenty twenty three. I would
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: take him.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: And potentially put him over Hamlin.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: I know that might be mean or sound bad to
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: some people, but I what a thousand percent take a
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: look at Justin Simmons. But what's also tough is.
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: Too Then you're bringing in Simmons now.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: And Grantedy's a vet, a smart dude, I don't know
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: if he can acclimate to all the things that they
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: need mentally from that safety spot in addition to the
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: physical on top of with him had miles on the tires.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know, but I think that's
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: a fair question to ask. Bill's fan seventy eight eighty
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: three says Frank Gore Junior looks like an NFL running back.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: That's fair, that's fair. Multiple comments here for who is
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: who is forty nine? I want to get back to
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: the I was like A said, no, Nu, Yeah, forty
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: nine was all over the field? Is he a walk on?
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Another comment here? Yeah, whoever forty nine was at linebacker,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: definitely everywhere. I think it's funny because he's wearing forty
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: nine and he's got dregs, so he looks like Tremaine Edmonds.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: A little bit. But that is Keyanta Jenkins, who yeah.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Bit undersized, a little skinny, but yeah, he was flying
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: around a little bit making some place. Nice to see
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: him making those plays. Yeah. Any final questions, thoughts, comments, concerns,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: anything and everything you folks want to get into. Feel
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: free to start to put it into the chat. Oh, Charles,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: you're preaching the choir here. Charles says, if I'm looking
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: to add another speed wide receiver, Jaalen Coker would be
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: a great target.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: Not saying the Bills will do it, but someone should.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: I love Jalen Coker. I liked him coming out of
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: Holy Cross. I put out a bunch of tape from
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: him going into last year's draft, and if you remember,
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: after Day three, Greg and I did the post show
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: and read from someone or thought he read from someone
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: that the Bill's got Coker as a UDFA and I
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: jumped for joy literally on the stream and then found
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: out it was incorrect. I really love Jalen Coker. Yeah,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: I like this tape. A bunch at holy Cross. He
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: just he has a good mix of size and athleticism
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: and hands and speed, and.
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: I like his game tremendously.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: And he's over six feet like two hundred and fourteen
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: fifteen pounds somewhere around there. I really really like Jalen Coker.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: I would be.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I would pull Jalen Cocher in immediately as wide receiver
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: five right now and not think twice. And I think
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: he's better than being a wide receiver five on this team.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: I'll just say that I really do like, I really
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: do like Jalen Coker. Yes, Gordon says, Jaalen Coker is
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: a Panther, isn't he? Yes?
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that Panther receiver room is kind of interesting.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: You got Coker, you have feeling, You've got McMillan, You've
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: got Laget, Bryce Young looks like he's starting to kinda.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: Find his way with that team. Yeah.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Coker had one touchdown last night and another really good catch.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: He had some moments too last year, even with the
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: the Panther struggling, had some moments and had some plays
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: where am I yep dating Corker's But Lou says, I
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: don't see anyway Carolina, let's Coker go at this point
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: with a gat consistently shooting himself on the foot. Don't
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: put that negativity out here, lou No, you should see
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: all the ways that Carolina let's Cocer go. Think positively. Oh,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: you should only be thinking that they let him go.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: That's it. They should just outright cut him. Let's not
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: worry about why. Let's not worry about if it makes sense.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: Let's just think, you.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: Know what, They're gonna cut him, and the Bill should
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: take him.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: And bring him in immediately. I man, I would be.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: I would be crazy. Oh, that's actually fair. Att Alesha
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: just says in the comments, if Coker is a panther now,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: he'll probably be on the Bills in a few years.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: That's super fair. Yeah, I just need to wait. I
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: just need to wait until he finishes out his rookie
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: contract and then he'll be on Carolina North. That's super fair.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: That's super fair. Well said, Oh that was good. You
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: know what else is good? The best pizza in Buffalo,
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: New York One Pie Pizza. I don't say that they're
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: the best pizza in Buffalo because they sponsor this show.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: They sponsored the show because I think They are the
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: best pizza in Buffalo, New York. Sweet sauce, pie cup
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: and char pepperoni, homemade blue cheese. I did a couple
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: of shows with Drew and Chris from The Rock Pile
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Report this past Thursday, and it's always awesome to see
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: them and hang out with them and talk football with
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: them and talk bills and we just hang out, you know,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: before the show and after the show. But they always
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: get one Pie pizza every time I'm over there, and
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: it's always so good and it hits so hard on Thursday.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I'm probably gonna get some one Pie pizza tomorrow actually,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: on the way back doing from running some errands. Yeah,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: best pizza in Buffalo, so good. I also, and I
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: mentioned this every time, like the main points. If you
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: get like toppings, they'll chop them all up and then
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: sprinkle them evenly across the pie.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: It's just so good.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Like everything they do is quality, The ingredients are quality,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: the way it comes out is quality. It's just honestly tremendous.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: And they named a pizza after the show and the brand.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: It's called the Cover One Alan Goat. It's delicious. I'm
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: not going to spoil what the ingredients are. You can
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: find me online menu in the episode show notes, or
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: they're here on YouTube or whichever podcasting Apple platform you're
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: listening to this show on. Look up the cover one
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: Alan Goat and who. It reads deliciously and it tastes
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: delicious as well. They also have a catering division called
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Elevated Catering of Buffalo that I can purpose not purposefully,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: that I also get my stamp of approval for because
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: they're catering stuff is great. I've had them to multiple
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: events over the years. Awesome, different kinds of mac and cheeses, is,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: coconut rice and chicken dish, even good salads and I
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: don't even like salad, like their salads hit.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: Everything they do is just delicious and they're really good people.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: On top of it, doing a lot for the community
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: of Buffalo, Toys for Tots, partnering with Roswell, the Knockout Cancer,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: the SPCA, the Alzheimer's Foundation, just a lot of good
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: stuff from them in every way, shape and form. So
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: if you're in the Buffalo area, or if you're visiting
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: at any point this year for a Bills game, get
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: yourself someone pie pizza. You will not be dispointed, describe
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: some more comments that I missed here? Ah, as we
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: went through, where was one? There was one I wanted
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: to see. I left off at Frank or Junior looks
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: like an NFL running back. Oh the Coker comment?
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Yeah, where was something else?
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Oh? Steve saying I wish Christian walkersiker return kicks because
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: he sneaky good a wide receiver. I wanted to bring
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: this up to talk about the returner position in general.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: It's just I like Codrington as a returner. It's gonna
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: be hard for me to cut one of the DB's
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: or receivers or anybody to kind of make space for
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: a guy who just plays one thing. Codrington doesn't do
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: any other special teams, and he's probably not seeing the
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: field as an actual nickel corner, so it's gonna be tough.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: I would love if some other position player could somehow
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: make up the returner piece, and I value special teams.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: But even if it was like Ray Davis and Ty
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Johnson as kick returners like they were at points last year,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: or if Shakiir was the part returner, or Shakir could
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: be the kick returner too. Honestly, like I I just
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: want the ball in Shakir's hands. But yeah, I wanted
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: to bring this up because the returner piece in general,
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: I think is a wonky one because if you're keeping Codrington,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: you're essentially keeping him just for that spot, which isn't
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: a lot of positional value and roster flexibility that you're
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: building into that. So kind of see what happens with
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: that a little bit. Lew says, am I allowed to
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: wish cast for Hunter Renfro. Instead we get all our returners.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: We get a returner in all phases, our wide receiver
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: five who can cover the Shakiro role. M be a gunner.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: That's fair Hunter Renfro suite, especially the pre the Oakland
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Ray version of Hunter Renfro. But I refuse to not
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: stand for Jalen Koker.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: But I I respect your choice.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: I respect your choice. Bam, what else do we got? Yeah?
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: I think I see a lot of questions about like
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: the fifty three man roster and who you know kind
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: of makes this based off of you know, or the
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: initial roster or the fifty three or the kind of
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: have the depth chart shaken out. I am not ready
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: to make any kind of case of that right now.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: I think we have to see how preseason week two
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: I need to see more live game action, and the
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: fact that we only get three games instead of four
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: makes it even harder. I think let's continue to see
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: that so I'll be in more of a position to
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: answer roster questions, the initial and the final once we
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: get through preseason week two. But that'll be a conversation
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: for next week. I'm gonna throw up the banner that
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: says tootles folks, because we're gonna.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: Start to say itobye here.

- 1:17:25Speaker 1: So from an internet standpoint, a website standpoint, so please,

- 1:18:26Speaker 1: But if not, I'll be doing these shows regardless, going
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: again for each of the preseason games, having post shows,
