Transcript
- 0:00Hello everyone. My name is Olivia and welcome to
- 0:03another episode of for Azeroth. This one is a special one.
- 0:07We're having a have seized episodes to 19.5 maybe, but One
- 0:15thing hasn't changed and that is it, I'm joined by my lovely
- 0:20co-host. True Villain.
- 0:21Manny Manny. Why are we here today?
- 0:23What are we doing? What are we doing this?
- 0:26This episode? Okay.
- 0:28That's not the usual question. So yeah.
- 0:30My work and wow was being amazing.
- 0:32Thank you for asking. We we actually do Vin to Mythic
- 0:37finally and we got the first boss down so I can now say till
- 0:41I'm actually a Mythic Raider. After all these years of people
- 0:45being like you're pretty much a myth the grader and I'm like, no
- 0:46I'm not, it's like yeah. Okay.
- 0:47Now I've now we're actually doing some Mythic rating have so
- 0:52many, so many has achieved a new title, Mythic Raider.
- 0:55Okay. The first the first boss, I feel
- 0:59like keep the first usually in the way these go like the first
- 1:03two, three bosses are kind of gimmes.
- 1:05And then you actually start dealing with some real
- 1:08progression. So we got the okay.
- 1:10Yeah. So we'll see how that goes.
- 1:12I'm not going to be able to read with the team on Thursday
- 1:15because I'm heading out of town. Yep.
- 1:20So we're recording this episode which is actually going to be
- 1:24220 unless something crazy happens in the Last two days of
- 1:29the week, this will be episode 220.
- 1:31I'm, I'm just saying here, and if you do a special episode with
- 1:38which you can do while I am unplugged away from all the
- 1:45Doom, scrolling on Twitter and stuff.
- 1:46Now, I'm still gonna have internet access, but still, I'm
- 1:49still not gonna record an episode, but yeah.
- 1:54I also was working on my Demon Hunter, alt trying to get that.
- 2:02Yeah, trying to get that all geared up and also working on
- 2:07making some gold off of that. And I realize that legendaries
- 2:14our way to cheaper than they used to be.
- 2:17Okay, Yeah. Soon as the demand drops down, I
- 2:22bought a 291 for 11k, huh? Yeah, the so I got my my warlock
- 2:32up and running, right? And I think, I think for both of
- 2:38the legendaries that I got It was like maybe maybe 25k total,
- 2:46maybe so, yeah, like legendary is super cheap right now, but
- 2:50that's of course because we've had months and months and months
- 2:53of people farming out all the materials in order to make all
- 2:56the upgrade pieces that that needed to go into, you know,
- 3:01boosting the, the base legendary items up to item level to
- 3:04anyone. So that's, you know, to be
- 3:06expected, the markets just been absolutely.
- 3:10Lately flooded and there is no there is no end in sight.
- 3:15Like if you have any legendary base item in your bags that you
- 3:20have crafted for any reason, they're not going to sell period
- 3:25unless it's anyone and even then like the markets just super,
- 3:30super saturated. Honestly, I hate that for the
- 3:36market. I think that those things should
- 3:39have come down, of course the initial stuff, but what's Makin
- 3:45these? Professional people money.
- 3:46So, come on, dragonflight give give some sort of like,
- 3:50long-lasting actual intrinsic value to professions.
- 3:54I say that again, it's not just about power.
- 3:59Cosmetic things have value that stays something will be strong
- 4:05and powerful until the next tier until the next expansion.
- 4:09But something that just looks cool.
- 4:12It stays cool forever which is quasi shoot, Shigeru Miyamoto.
- 4:17I know I'm gonna do like a deep cut their.
- 4:19That was a, that was a bastardization of his quote,
- 4:23where he says, let you know a late game is late until it
- 4:26ships, but a bad game is bad forever.
- 4:29Yes, it is. That is a true fact.
- 4:32True words have never been uttered by any, any human at
- 4:38all? I'm gonna use that quote later
- 4:41on though. But anything happen to you, in
- 4:45the short period of time, let's say three days between
- 4:48recordings. I spent $70 That's what
- 4:54happened. What will we talk about last
- 4:59episode? Literally three days ago and I
- 5:06believe if because like, you know, I added these things.
- 5:09So, it's more fresh in my head, but I can think of the words of,
- 5:13oh, I'm gonna wait. What?
- 5:16How, and we can put this down in less than 72 hours of waiting.
- 5:20A set less than 72 hours of waiting.
- 5:24I Got the what is it? The heroic Edition is it's like
- 5:29a like the normal than heroic that epic rate.
- 5:32Yeah, and you were all like a so again getting the Epic because,
- 5:35hey, I'm never going to play a pay for game time.
- 5:38No, that wasn't it. It was no.
- 5:40Hey, I don't think that these things are cool.
- 5:43Now that wasn't it. It was hey, I'm gonna wait, no,
- 5:47that doesn't work either. Okay, well, you know what?
- 5:50Don't listen to the last episode.
- 5:51All of its been made invalid by absolute Splurge, spending 100%
- 5:58100%. So actually, this was motivated
- 6:02by I have been, I've been neck-deep in classic.
- 6:10In anticipation for wrath classic naturally and I've been
- 6:15leveling a shaman and I am just so utterly.
- 6:21Enamored with can be cash or like, oh, geez.
- 6:24This Classics. Good.
- 6:26But I'm being weighed down by all this money in my pocket.
- 6:30I don't get the connection here. Toe, explain this to me, but
- 6:33I've just been I've just been so completely smitten, spins a good
- 6:38word, that's a good. That's a good word.
- 6:39I've been Smitten by the shaman and I was like, you know what,
- 6:43it's been a while since I've had a shaman at max level there's a
- 6:47easy, easy level, 60 boost that I can get Baby, you know, not
- 6:53for free, but, you know, for a much reduced cost than it would
- 6:57normally be to get a level 60 boost.
- 7:00And I get the expansion that I'm already going to be spending the
- 7:04money on anyway. So like like, who's losing here?
- 7:07It's not me. Yeah, um, let's see, there's
- 7:12this, there's this, there's this guy I know goes by the name
- 7:18Nath. Really, he's a Demon Hunter.
- 7:21I think he loses out and there's this warlock that I do it again.
- 7:27And like there was a question about, oh yeah, yeah I'm gonna
- 7:30bring him this warlock, that our Aid because it's, you know,
- 7:33bitter geared, and it's sorry it's what I had.
- 7:37And then it's like, Nana's. Forget that warlock I'm gonna go
- 7:39play this Demon Hunter because that's why I was playing earlier
- 7:41in the tear and it's better geared because it's the Demon
- 7:44Hunter has better gear. Now they're all getting pushed
- 7:46to the side for this no-name Shaman.
- 7:50That just popped into existence less than 72 hours ago.
- 7:54Got it. All right, don't even know.
- 7:56Even lose like 24 hours ago. What I like about you live.
- 8:04You stick to your guns but well he didn't write your taste or
- 8:08your your commitment to your characters.
- 8:12Now like this, the Isle of got, the feeling for Shaman.
- 8:15I love all of my characters equally.
- 8:18They are all queens in my book. They are all fantastic.
- 8:22I love every single one of them and Just really want to my focus
- 8:29and attention is on the show. Is you Shaman?
- 8:33I love you all. Did you give it a shot?
- 8:35And don't wait up. Okay.
- 8:40But yeah, but yeah, there's there's quite a lot happened in
- 8:44the World of Warcraft for me these days, which is, which is
- 8:50weird, because we don't technically have any new content
- 8:55to chew through. I'm I'm just I'm just completely
- 8:59in it right now like I can't explain it any other way, other
- 9:02than I'm just I'm having a blast.
- 9:05I'm having a real good time. Yeah I mean it's not new content
- 9:11but there is still content there is still like all the changes
- 9:15that they made for a shaman so playing it on classic is
- 9:18different than playing it on Modern right now.
- 9:23And yeah just like there's been a lot happening for you in game.
- 9:28There's actually been a lot of news that's come out in between
- 9:32shows. So let's talk about the main
- 9:35piece that we didn't have time for last time because we Again,
- 9:40keep getting sidetracked at all a little conversations but the
- 9:43Wrath classic beta is here. I'm in it, I'm also in it.
- 9:49Yeah confirm this afternoon. I'm also in it.
- 9:53You're finally in it. You were you were sad for a
- 9:55couple of days but like hey so if you two hours later A lot has
- 9:58changed clearly and yeah, we got A lot of news around wrap
- 10:09classic, I'm actually more interested in this beta because
- 10:13they are definitely making some changes.
- 10:16They're really looking at that, some changes line and adjusting
- 10:20things. I really liked that they are and
- 10:24honestly, I think that this conversation that they are
- 10:29putting out around wrath classic, makes me feel like
- 10:32wrath, classic is the last in the line.
- 10:35Because they want to make it feel like vanilla. right, and
- 10:41classic is the last time before you get the entire world, being
- 10:45undone by the cataclysm, And it almost feels like a bookend.
- 10:51It kind of does. It kind of doesn't away?
- 10:54I will. I will refute the they want it
- 10:58to feel like vanilla thing because that was a quote from
- 11:01one of the developers a couple of months back.
- 11:04I think probably close to like four months ago.
- 11:06Probably around the time that they were making the
- 11:09announcement of Wrath classic and all that.
- 11:10They did a couple of initial interviews and this is, I'm just
- 11:16going to cut this. Right up to the top here because
- 11:18we have this in a separate. Do story all the way down at the
- 11:21bottom of the notes, but I'm going to pull it up because it
- 11:24is relevant to this, I feel, but in this interview they said that
- 11:28they wanted the they wanted wrath classic to feel like
- 11:32vanilla and as such that they were going to be removing the
- 11:37quest helper that came in patch 3.3.5.
- 11:41Which, you know, that's that's something that if you've been
- 11:44playing the game since what was it, 2009 2010, that something
- 11:51that is just something that's part of the game.
- 11:54Like it's just part of the experience of playing World of
- 11:58Warcraft as they have a built-in Quest.
- 11:59Tracker that helps you determine like, where where you need to
- 12:04go, what you need to be collecting, what you need to be,
- 12:07you know, what enemies to dispatch all that.
- 12:11Has been in the game since Pat 3.3 and they said that they were
- 12:16going to take it out that they weren't going to put it in at
- 12:19all and this was the initial interview again.
- 12:22There are several interviews that said this but They decided
- 12:27against that, given the feedback that basically everyone was just
- 12:31like, no, like you do realize like we're all just using
- 12:35exactly this but an add-on form rate.
- 12:39Like everyone has questi installed, everyone has what?
- 12:42I don't want to say everyone that's that's not entirely true,
- 12:45but the vast majority of people that play classic use these as
- 12:50tools to help them in their in their quest to reach in game
- 12:55because Otherwise, we'd be flipping back and forth between
- 12:59the game and and Wowhead and like just trying to like any
- 13:05other resource that they that they would use without them in
- 13:11order to get these Quest completed.
- 13:13And I think, I think the actual like, I don't, I don't want to
- 13:18mask what they would just throw in an add-on to the replaces.
- 13:22Everybody knows people would throw in her add-on but the
- 13:24people who wanted the more Pure experience, I'm hoping there's a
- 13:28may be a way to turn this off and you're right.
- 13:30This was that the post, that was from a grand who said that,
- 13:35like, yeah, you know, that was something or thought has come a
- 13:38long way from there. But man, maybe we get Alakazam
- 13:43back know. Obviously, it's going to be well
- 13:44head. He's not.
- 13:48But yes, yes, all of that. Um, but I think that For who
- 13:56have been playing on the beta, and several of them, I've seen
- 14:00the comments I've had, I've seen the conversations, they are like
- 14:06jumping back into like, oh, you know, I don't have a bunch of
- 14:08add-ons. And there's something, there's
- 14:09something pure about that is something magical about that.
- 14:12So, I don't think every convenience factor needs to be
- 14:16in. I think that even if they do
- 14:19include things that are like the quest log and the map you, I and
- 14:23all that sort of modern convenience stuff.
- 14:27It still can feel like classic in in ways, in other, in ways,
- 14:32that aren't just like, oh it's not, I don't want to call it,
- 14:36janky or unrefined but in a rustic sort of early feel right?
- 14:47Yeah. The world is still the main
- 14:50character. That was something that was
- 14:52being talked talked about. Yeah but I don't necessarily
- 14:57agree with the notion that having something in the game
- 15:00like a quest helper takes any of the, any of the the focus off
- 15:07the world itself. If anything, I think it adds
- 15:10more to the focus of who are you?
- 15:12Because you are explain this. Yes, go ahead.
- 15:14So In in modern wow. I think it's a little bit easier
- 15:21to to get away with having having your players not
- 15:26necessarily read the quest text like the actual like Quest
- 15:31dialogue that is happening on the screen because most of most
- 15:34of the, the important beats that are being handed out through
- 15:37these quests. There's there's someone there's
- 15:40a talking head. That is delivering, basically,
- 15:44the gist of what's happening in the Dialogue.
- 15:49But that doesn't meet like having these having these tools
- 15:54having the quest tracker and having, you know, the map be
- 16:00populated by by map markers. And, and so on and so forth that
- 16:06I don't think that that necessarily takes away from the
- 16:09quest text. Like the quest dialogue being
- 16:12ridden, read read, and read they're being read, you know,
- 16:17the quest act. That's the Scrolls in front of
- 16:19you. It's you're saying it doesn't
- 16:20take away from that. I'm highly disagreeing with you
- 16:23but keep going. Well, I mean like for us for
- 16:27players like us that have been playing the game for over a
- 16:29decade, you know this is all stuff that we've kind of seen
- 16:34before. So a lot of our experience going
- 16:40through and playing the game, especially if we're like going
- 16:42through leveling other characters going through, like
- 16:46similar content, we're not necessarily paying attention to
- 16:50the quest text, but someone else is coming in.
- 16:53That's new to the game. Is.
- 16:57Okay, it's they're more inclined to do that than they would
- 17:01otherwise. And I think that to leave to
- 17:06leave out the the quest helper in Wrath specifically, is going
- 17:11to be kind of a, kind of a turn-off for a lot of players
- 17:14because it like, yes, there's a convenience factor to it.
- 17:18You're not having to flip back and forth.
- 17:20You're not having to read through and scrutinize every
- 17:22line of quest. Text to make sure you're getting
- 17:24it right. They're not wasting time. but,
- 17:32It is, it is a tool that helps people to figure out where they
- 17:38need to be in order to do the objective that they're trying to
- 17:41accomplish, okay? So modern, wow, I'm going
- 17:46around. I don't care any any Zone.
- 17:51Quest comes up, shut down window because talking head, which way
- 17:56do I go? Here's the Waypoint that
- 17:58automatically shows me on my screen, right?
- 18:01And if that's not a big enough thing, there's usually somebody
- 18:04being like follow me and running off in the right direction.
- 18:07The quest objective is two feet away from where I pick up the
- 18:12quest or is automatically given to me when I walk into the area.
- 18:17Mmm. If all of that fails, the
- 18:19mini-map gives me a big outline of the area that I can do this
- 18:22in and out and the enemies are highlighted.
- 18:26The quest text is so little of doing quests that you need to
- 18:33actively be wanting to slow yourself down to do it to read
- 18:37through Quest text. That's what modern, wow is right
- 18:41now. Mmm, and there's no, if ands or
- 18:45buts about it. That's what modern wow, is, if
- 18:48they want you to actually pay attention to something is fully
- 18:51voiced and it will stop you and even then you can hit us.
- 18:56And skip it right? Modern wow.
- 18:59Is handhold through request through text is without the need
- 19:05of you actually reading text. In fact, the entire thing is a
- 19:08meme of oh, you read Quest X, right?
- 19:12Contrast that to much earlier where it's like, oh Yugi to
- 19:17could combat this thing. And they'll tell you this guy,
- 19:21and this guy, and there isn't a pop up in your Heads up display,
- 19:26the enemies aren't highlighted, or the objectives aren't
- 19:29highlighted, and they're in a different part of the world.
- 19:33So you have to go over that part of the world, especially back in
- 19:36Old vanilla days, where it's like, oh, you need to kill that
- 19:39troll under the bridge and it's like the bridge by the blah
- 19:43blah, blah tree, anybody, okay? So which tree is that?
- 19:46And they'd be like Northeast of town you make, okay Northeast of
- 19:50town and you would actually need to orientate yourself get
- 19:55they're look for this bridge and then there would be a troll
- 19:58there to go kill And you're telling me, you're telling me
- 20:04that the on rail theme park of current.
- 20:07Wow, is more immersive. No requires you to use the quest
- 20:13exported like that. It's just it is a completely
- 20:15different feel because of all of the on Rails convenience factors
- 20:21that they have put in to Modern wow including Quest helpers
- 20:28including highlighting relevant Quest objectives.
- 20:32Shooting all the verbal audible text tells that they do for it.
- 20:41Well you're not wrong, you're not wrong.
- 20:46I think it's a difference of perspective on it because like
- 20:50for me the the having having an NPC run along with you when you
- 20:56accept a quest and they're running towards the objective
- 20:59and all you gotta do is follow him.
- 21:01That's much more immersive than. Oh I've just arrived at this.
- 21:05NPC, let me read. Two or three pages of quest,
- 21:09text to figure out where I'm going that takes me out of it.
- 21:14That is the opposite of immersive.
- 21:18So on that level because another thing to remember is that he had
- 21:23many novels I read plenty exactly.
- 21:27And you get immersed in them. Yeah but so why don't you
- 21:32questions are not impressive in the same way that a book is
- 21:36there are two completely separate things.
- 21:38I get immersed in a game like gotta work.
- 21:43That is an immersive game because you are constantly going
- 21:45through. And there are times where you're
- 21:47slow down and forced to listen to dialogue as you're as you're
- 21:50traversing through this place and you're being, you know,
- 21:55spoon-fed the story and it's not, but I think there's
- 21:58different level. There are different ways of
- 22:00immersion and vanilla was more about the quest text, not the
- 22:04helper Bots, to help you. Right.
- 22:07Right. And Wrath of the Lich King, the
- 22:09zones had vast areas that weren't being used, particularly
- 22:13for thing that have spaces in between the quest objectives,
- 22:18whereas modern, they are very much close together.
- 22:21Very much guided through, right? Where you go from, like East to
- 22:25be where you went from like point A to point B and then
- 22:28you'd have to back it, go back to point a and then that would
- 22:31take you to point C and you would be going around and doing
- 22:33these various hubs and now it's like you go This little twisting
- 22:37line, you have to hit every every little place and nook and
- 22:41cranny in the zone as your quest.
- 22:43Takes you there through rails? And it used to be that you would
- 22:49stop. You be like, okay, let me bring
- 22:50up my quest log in. What exactly am I supposed to do
- 22:53here? Yeah.
- 22:55I mean if it was even if it was like this little guy following
- 22:59you, oh I'm supposed to be killing the Troll Headhunters
- 23:05not the patrol acts throwers because it would be two
- 23:08different types of trolls in the area and only one of them
- 23:11actually gave you what you wanted.
- 23:13Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:15Which I mean the, the tooltips, the tooltips even in in classic
- 23:19they they have the like if there is like an enemy that you know,
- 23:25you need to kill for a quest, even the tooltips themselves
- 23:28have that in there. So that's something that's
- 23:30that's kind of baked into classic even at a base level.
- 23:32Even if that As an in the original.
- 23:35Wow add I can't confirm or deny that but what I'm what I'm
- 23:40getting at is that the the quest helper that's being added in to
- 23:45wrath from day. One is the 3.3 Quest helper like
- 23:50it's that version of the the quest helper.
- 23:53So it's not what we have in modern.
- 23:56Wow. Where everything's highlighted,
- 23:57you know exactly like your heads up display gives you literally
- 24:02boundless. Ocean about the current
- 24:04objective. It is, it is very much.
- 24:07Just a, here's an area where the enemy mostly is on your map and
- 24:14then a box next to it that has all the objectives of the quest
- 24:21that you're currently on. That's it.
- 24:23That's the only thing you get that is any different from The
- 24:29regular, like, classic will say classic, but the like the
- 24:34vanilla and BC versions of the game or even RAF pre pets 3.3.
- 24:41Like that's just, that's just it, like, it's nothing super
- 24:46special. It just gives you a general
- 24:48guideline of where you need to be standing in order to get the
- 24:52objectives that you have in your quest like done.
- 24:55That's it, that's it. Okay.
- 24:57All right. So then what about the group
- 25:00fighter tool? Because that's the other thing
- 25:03that's Crossing line between modernization and old school
- 25:06house that being implemented. Well, they don't think that it's
- 25:12fully implemented which I had I'd literally just got home from
- 25:15work sat down at my desk saw that I was in the in the Wrath
- 25:19beta and haven't been able to like jump in and see anything
- 25:22for myself. So I'm just going off of
- 25:25information that I've that I've seen around the internet but
- 25:28From what I've seen they have said that they're updating the
- 25:33the group finder tool to be more in line with the retail version
- 25:38of of the group finder. So if you go in, go and look
- 25:42through the pre-made groups, that's basically what they're
- 25:46implementing into into Rath classic, so that you'll be able
- 25:49to select roles, you'll be able to see exactly how many players
- 25:54are in a party. You'll be able to list groups
- 25:57listed individually. Search for groups, both or not
- 26:01even both. But for all three raids Dungeons
- 26:03and PVP exactly how you are able to in retail.
- 26:10Obviously, it's not going to be a one for one thing.
- 26:13There, there are differences in that.
- 26:21You can search you can still like search by dungeon but you
- 26:25can also do like batch searches, so you can select like multiple
- 26:28dungeons. You can select multiple
- 26:29difficulties of a dungeon that kind of stuff.
- 26:38So that's that's a pretty big departure from where they've
- 26:42been because I have been playing burning Crusade classic.
- 26:47And there is a group finder tool that is available in burning
- 26:51Crusade, classic and I Have to say 100% right out of the gate,
- 26:58I don't like the burning Crusade group finder.
- 27:01I don't think that it was well designed or well implemented
- 27:05into burning Crusade, classic. even though it is bounds better
- 27:10than the group finder tool that they had added in original
- 27:13burning Crusade, back in the day, It's still just lacked.
- 27:18A lot of Polish like Robert convenience factors.
- 27:25No no, that's not even, that's not even the level of Polish and
- 27:29I'm talking about with a with a riveting tool developed by
- 27:35blizzard, the lack of polish that I'm talking about is say,
- 27:40say your level 35 and you queue up for some dungeons.
- 27:46And they're not even cute. But you you you know, post
- 27:49yourself to you're looking for these these three Dungeons and
- 27:54you're looking at groups and other players that are also
- 27:57looking for those dungeons in that range and you you know
- 28:02continue about questing and you level up to level 36 you no
- 28:06longer level 35 but you queued at level 35 it does not update
- 28:13your level in the group finder tool.
- 28:16So you're still reading is 35 and it won't update your level
- 28:20until you log out and log back in.
- 28:23So that is a Just a plain oversight of something that
- 28:28should be fairly easy to take care of for one would think.
- 28:33So that's, that's going to be where my testing is is going to
- 28:36be, like, how adaptive is this tool compared to its burning
- 28:40Crusade counterpart. How easy is it to search for
- 28:45specific content? That I'm looking for?
- 28:47How easy is it to find other people that are searching for
- 28:50that particular content? That's, that's the kind of thing
- 28:52that I'm going to be judging it on and that's Be the feedback
- 28:56that I provide is going to be how how does this tool enhance
- 29:01my experience of whack classic. Because if it, like how I'm
- 29:07looking at the quote unquote or I guess, hashtag some changes
- 29:13that they're putting into Rath classic.
- 29:16I'm looking at it from a perspective of yeah, that's
- 29:20cool. That's great.
- 29:22How does it make it better? And does this actually make
- 29:26something? Does it make some aspect of the
- 29:28game better for, for myself and for other players?
- 29:32And that's kind of how I'm going to be judging, a lot of the
- 29:36changes they Implement into Rath classic.
- 29:38Okay. I have this weird thing about
- 29:41wrath where I find it was like kind of a Tipping Point between
- 29:45convenience factors and the old identity thing, like we've
- 29:52always had that conversation about server.
- 29:54Versus convenience factors. Hey, cross realm dungeon groups,
- 30:00right cross realm reading, faction to separation.
- 30:05All these sort of things that have gone away over to over the
- 30:09time and it it definitely has a plus and adds to convenience and
- 30:17ability for people to play very quickly into group content.
- 30:22But I feel like there has Being a loss to that.
- 30:26And it's funny because you were complaining about like oh no new
- 30:31content for at the top of the show for modern but still being
- 30:37able to enjoy stuff. And I think that with season 4
- 30:43and with this raid group that I'm in, I think I'm going to
- 30:46have a blast in season four. I think that there's going to be
- 30:50a lot there but I know other groups once they get Let's say a
- 30:55OTC. Like, if the group gets ALDC on
- 30:59Sunday, I don't expect them to be consistently rating after
- 31:03that. I think they're, they hit their
- 31:05goals and their done, right? So being able to quickly put
- 31:12together a group and jump, cross realm, and jump into a group
- 31:18that is just getting their Jailer kill and then get that.
- 31:21And be like, okay I'm done, I don't need anything like, I feel
- 31:24that that it's this weird thing and I like and I and I know I'm
- 31:29writing this line. So I know immediately this this
- 31:33this line that I'm falling into those guys who are like oh you
- 31:36cheated the game and you cheated yourself litter, dude.
- 31:39It's like a know like they would but like there is a reward for
- 31:47Starting from the beginning and working all the way through in
- 31:53concert with people. Getting my Keystone master was
- 32:00an accomplishment that I work towards and it and I love to
- 32:05getting Keystone Master with Joss and with Xander and with
- 32:10NIMBY and with the guys that I well, you know what, I'm
- 32:12literally missing, what one person?
- 32:14So let me just say Matt and Season right.
- 32:22And getting that together and actually getting Keystone master
- 32:27and I like getting it working in my way and get it myself, I
- 32:31think I feel a lot less happy or satisfied with it if I just had
- 32:39bonus and his guys take me around this week and be like,
- 32:42okay just we're going to cure you come along and I got KSM
- 32:47this week without working my way through the higher levels.
- 32:51And or is the lower levels to get there?
- 32:53And I think and I think that When everything becomes
- 32:59automated, you don't have that attachment when everything
- 33:02becomes almost an instant gimme. You don't have that attachment.
- 33:06Like, it's just it if Poindexter Furious was alive and kicking
- 33:12today, and we got the and Owen kill together.
- 33:17That would mean so much to me and frankly more to me than
- 33:21getting the Jailer kill when I got the Jailer kill because we
- 33:26worked together, we strove to get that.
- 33:29And and who would fight is a epic fight.
- 33:32Oh yeah, killing Sylvanas would get your kit together.
- 33:37Awesome. I know Pete.
- 33:38Some people were really burnt at the end of it because that was a
- 33:42struggle of a tear. Hmm.
- 33:44But getting that was great. And there is no, like there is
- 33:50nothing taking away from when we got our first kill.
- 33:56Of sired and a threose. That was just like nerd screams
- 34:00and everything that was wonderful.
- 34:03So, I I feel like when you put in all these convenience
- 34:09factors, when you have, oh let me throw gold at it and get
- 34:13myself the carry from this cross realm group, that is do is doing
- 34:19these things then like, it doesn't mean.
- 34:22As much like, I still love the spawn of gallic gross because I
- 34:27did that with a team that was working their way up.
- 34:32I still remember. The first tier that I did heroic
- 34:40with get your crit together. And I still remember how on top
- 34:45of the world we were doing all dear because that was when we're
- 34:50like we're going to go hard and we're going to make this work
- 34:53and then we were killing old ear at the top of our Guild.
- 34:56Like that was when we were in a ie and there were so many raid
- 34:59groups within a ie that's like going from being a little-known
- 35:06team non-factor team and I apologize.
- 35:11You were part of The converter Aid Mega Guild as well.
- 35:16Right? Yes, yes, II LED several teams
- 35:20in the converter Aid Mega Guild. It's similar similar thing.
- 35:24Like it's something like you you join a team or you start a team
- 35:28and you get the people together and you're there, you know,
- 35:32going through chugging through this content with your friends
- 35:36and it's awesome to have a goal set out.
- 35:42To to accomplish that goal and achieve it for yourself from the
- 35:46very beginning. And that's like, like you
- 35:50mentioned, you mentioned the get your crew together kill of
- 35:52Saturday. I threose I was there.
- 35:55I was there for that that was hands down.
- 35:57My favorite moment of this entire expansion was that first,
- 36:01a OTC that we got together. That was fantastic and Moments
- 36:08like that. I think are kind of the point of
- 36:13going back to Classic. It's it's going back and not
- 36:19trying to recapture that, but to create new experiences like
- 36:23that. But with older content like I
- 36:27The Guild that I'm in in classic, we got kael'thas.
- 36:33We got kael'thas and Lady Vash while I Still raining in in
- 36:38classic and similarly, like those were fights that we were
- 36:43spending weeks on trying to get them and we got them right right
- 36:48under the patch that came in with the, the next content,
- 36:52that, that was really. So right before black Temple
- 36:55came out and had the nerd screams were just as loud there.
- 36:59As they were with our kill, with great to get your crew together
- 37:03in this arid and a serious fight.
- 37:05So yeah. That's something that I don't
- 37:07think is necessarily going to be diminished in this because of
- 37:12the, the fact that the convenience factors aren't going
- 37:17to be there, except for they're just adding something that that
- 37:22ubiquitously, people are using anyway, in the form of an
- 37:26add-on. So a lot of people, the majority
- 37:29of people are using add-ons, like questi.
- 37:31And that's all that they're adding in with with the With the
- 37:39with the quest helper add-on. That's that's all that's being
- 37:41added is just a hey, here's where you need to go to.
- 37:46Look at this, you don't have to sift through all of this Quest
- 37:49text or go to a third party site in order to find this stuff and
- 37:53you still get the satisfaction of completing the quest and
- 37:56getting through the content on your own at your own pace, but
- 38:00here's where my analogy comes in, right?
- 38:04Many people more. Our Quest that, you know, you
- 38:08really had to work towards, you really have to figure out many.
- 38:12People will remember Green Hills of stranglethorn.
- 38:18Yeah, and getting those pages and oh, my goodness, searching
- 38:21for those pages all over the place.
- 38:23I I have a scrubs verse the world story that I will tell
- 38:27some time about my friend and I dying a million times and in
- 38:31stranglethorn but I don't think people remember the quest that
- 38:40they quickly looked at the quest helper ran over there.
- 38:44Did some unremarkable thing and got it done.
- 38:50Right. And I think that.
- 38:52Yeah and I think that helps lessen it right?
- 38:56I remember Quest where I like I was confused what to do and
- 39:01somebody and somebody in the world would come up to me and be
- 39:04like oh You trying to do this, come over here, here's where it
- 39:07is and I would follow a person and it would create a social
- 39:10Bond because I wasn't but like I think that is so hard to do in
- 39:16modern days where I have a second screen and I can have Lao
- 39:19head up and be like, okay, what do I do this?
- 39:22Right. Like imagine even in there with
- 39:24mortise where we have to find those like Exiles journals.
- 39:30Yeah, right. That would be Similar if you
- 39:36like, okay, let me just look around the world and maybe I
- 39:38climb up this hill and oh I found it or you find something
- 39:41else and that becomes a moment. Those are moments that are
- 39:44utterly lost with modernization and I don't think you can say
- 39:49that the quest helper isn't just part of that.
- 39:52It may not be the biggest part of it, and it may be something
- 39:55that because it's not. The biggest part is easily
- 39:58replaced by having, wow, head up on that second screen or
- 40:02whatever or an add-on that would immediately replace. but, When
- 40:08you make it Baseline feature, it's intended.
- 40:14Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 40:17And it like I'm I'm not disagreeing that there isn't
- 40:20there isn't validity to the assertion that things like that
- 40:26kind of kind of like helped to cheapen the experience.
- 40:30But in my experience in classic, it's not cheapening it at all
- 40:34but that's for me. That's my taste personally and
- 40:38they're going to be people that argue with me and they're going
- 40:40to be people that are agree with you on this.
- 40:42It's just like I would much Rather than have a not janky
- 40:47Quest helper in the game. So I don't have to keep relying
- 40:50on the janky add-on questi. In order to get my questing
- 40:54needs met, that's just my personal opinion, but but there
- 40:59are, you know, or like they're just going to make it like, you
- 41:03know what? Again, I was asking for an
- 41:05option to turn it off. So if I wanted to have Mike,
- 41:07well, Yankee experience. Yeah, I totally immersed myself
- 41:11in that. Totally agree.
- 41:13They should, they should have A a toggle for that.
- 41:16But, you know, well, well, the feedback is given.
- 41:19I've seen multiple people provide, that feedback myself,
- 41:23so hopefully they'll take it to heart, because I do think that,
- 41:25that would also be a good idea. But there are several other
- 41:29things we need to talk about. So I'm gonna go ahead and chew
- 41:32through the rest of these the rest of these things that
- 41:35they've brought up there looking to change.
- 41:38So they said that they're exploring ideas like having
- 41:42tinted 25 player raids. Drop the same loot making heroic
- 41:46dungeons, more difficult and offering better gear to
- 41:49compensate throughout the expansion.
- 41:52There, we close on that was on the okay, sorry.
- 41:55Okay? Because this was something that
- 41:57became sort of a kerfuffle and then people were reading too
- 42:01much into it because they're like, oh, heroic isn't something
- 42:06that I can, you know, quickly out gear and you remember back
- 42:10in Wrath of the Lich King AOE fast, pull pull, pull, pull pull
- 42:14Everybody, everybody is just upset because Hunters would be
- 42:17able to like use the rain of arrows on the run too.
- 42:21Like, cap out the thing or you would just have a shaman, just
- 42:25be like, chain lightning, everything, but, or just one
- 42:30boomkin, it's just entering the dungeon interesting for anything
- 42:37to them. Yeah, and I don't know they're
- 42:41there, this is something. Blizzard.
- 42:46Left because of the design restraints that they had at the
- 42:51time and now that they have the ability to do something, they're
- 42:55adjusting it where they're going to be like, okay each phase that
- 42:59comes through each tear that that comes through they would
- 43:02adjust the heroic dungeon so that they are relatively scaled
- 43:08up to what people would need. They would be relatively scaled
- 43:14to the difficulty. people, so that they're not the I don't
- 43:22want to call what's the opposite of white vest.
- 43:24I don't know. GG, easy kill, kill sprees.
- 43:28Yeah, Yeah. So basically basically all that
- 43:31they're considering doing is just as the patches get
- 43:35released. They just increase the health
- 43:37and damage of the enemies in the dungeons.
- 43:40That's it. That's all that they're doing.
- 43:42There's no, like, I've seen a lot of people throw around stuff
- 43:45like, oh, it's heroic, plus, they're doing heroic plus
- 43:49tangent, they also are increasing The rewards of
- 43:52course. Yeah, yeah, it has best to scale
- 43:55with the the difficulty of the Dungeons and it's it is a way
- 44:00for people to jump in. It's a way for people to jump in
- 44:04and be able to acquire loot that is appropriate for the content
- 44:09that they're going into and not just have to have all the badges
- 44:13farmed and go through with each patch and, you know, purchase
- 44:19all that gear. It's just giving a another way
- 44:21for people to get at least a little bit of gear in order to
- 44:25catch up that kind of cash. I guess, I guess a better way to
- 44:29put this would be this is more like salt ketchup friendliness
- 44:34like it's not necessarily about your main because your main if
- 44:36you're rating that raid gear is going to carry.
- 44:39You just straight into the next raid to your period or
- 44:42latecomers as well. People who might join you in
- 44:44later, I just feel like there's obviously going to be the
- 44:47conflict between these and the ICC dungeons at will come out at
- 44:50the end where Those were supposed to be the catch-up and
- 44:53so people would be chain running those.
- 44:55In fact, they were actually relevant for some people who
- 44:59were doing rating at the time as well as don't forget, there were
- 45:04dungeons that came out later in the expansion for Wrath of the
- 45:07Lich King along with trial of the Crusader.
- 45:11We had a five-man dungeon, I think Hall of stone and Hollows
- 45:15and Halls of lightning were those later or did no, I mean,
- 45:19leave on release. Nice.
- 45:21I believe that they were available.
- 45:23I think that they were just in game dungeons.
- 45:25So they were ones that were unlocked because wrath Lich,
- 45:29King was strange in that, there were two level 80 zones, there
- 45:34was Ice crown and storm peaks that both of them were level 80
- 45:40zones. So the dungeons that were
- 45:42available in the storm Peak so Halls of stone Halls of Valor.
- 45:48So they would be kind of like the Mythic only dungeons that
- 45:51Got. In the current expansions where
- 45:54it's like once you've leveled, then they're available, but
- 45:57these would be quote, unquote, normal than heroic only.
- 46:01Yeah, I guess a better. A better analogy would be.
- 46:04It's like the serum are dungeons Kings Rest?
- 46:08Yeah. All right.
- 46:10Christopher Ellis. Yeah.
- 46:11Right. And again, there were multiple
- 46:15dungeons that were like that in Shadow lands as well.
- 46:18That came once you can hit cap, then you could do it.
- 46:22But I think yeah that might cause a weird sort of conflict
- 46:28with those where it's where you used to have those dungeons, be
- 46:34the dungeons to do and therefore the dungeon pool would be much
- 46:39more concentrated on that. But in the same time, you're now
- 46:43going to have these weird itemization things where your
- 46:47best trinket may come from one of these earlier dungeons, where
- 46:51before it had leveled out, like it's the same.
- 46:54Issue that they have with Mythic plus today.
- 46:56So they're already going to be needing to do adjustments for
- 46:58it. I do think it's it's an odd
- 47:00thing. I definitely loved doing badge
- 47:04runs where it was just like. Yeah, this is going to be.
- 47:07Hey, new guy, follow me and you would just blazed through the
- 47:10entire thing, yeah. Oh yeah.
- 47:13Oh. Oh, man, on my death knight.
- 47:17I remember one of my favorite memories of Wrath was getting
- 47:20in. As as Frost in a tank like a
- 47:26frost tanking spec and just going through pulling an entire
- 47:30dungeon and just not caring about anything such good times
- 47:37saying it. Like or you be like on your alt.
- 47:39And I remember because I started somewhat late in knots.
- 47:43Yeah, somewhat late in RAF. I think I was I reached cap and
- 47:48part way through Old Wire so I had Miss naxxramas I had missed
- 47:54obsidian sanctum and I have attorney when they were current,
- 47:59but I remember just being like, oh, let me just follow behind
- 48:04this guy and loot and loot and then fall in line in Loot and
- 48:08like, yeah, it wasn't me. Learning how to play exactly.
- 48:11But it was still like a much more positive experience than
- 48:16you might get when everything needs to be.
- 48:21At level properly. Scaled, everybody needs to do
- 48:25their part and so they're upset at you for not doing your part
- 48:27even though like your new. It's a very strange thing.
- 48:31That's why that meta exist in time.
- 48:35Walking doesn't accelerate doesn't exist in time, walking
- 48:39where people can equip their cloak and and neck piece and go
- 48:43berserk versus in Mythic and Mythic a-pluses where it's like,
- 48:48do you really need to be holding up?
- 48:51Bring your own because I don't want to untie a knot time this.
- 48:55So, again, I don't I understand it being relevant, but there was
- 49:01always relevant dungeons. Yeah, and I think I think the
- 49:04goal and I'd have to go back and look through.
- 49:09I have to go back and look through the blue post.
- 49:11It was talking about this, but I think the goal is just to make
- 49:13it so that it's not something that's incredibly boring because
- 49:17that is something like after after like your You're, you
- 49:22know, fourth week of, you know, going through and getting your
- 49:25Valor cap, basically, in an hour's worth of gameplay, it
- 49:30gets stale real fast, real fast, just going and queuing up for
- 49:34Heroic dungeon and just not having to care.
- 49:37Like, basically everything's hitting you like wet noodles and
- 49:42you're just plowing through everything, it gets boring very
- 49:46quickly. So I think for the sake of
- 49:48longevity, it does make sense for them to kind of scale.
- 49:51Things up a little bit as the expansion goes through, but not
- 49:55to the level that we see with the scaling of say Mythic
- 49:58dungeons, where every new season of modern.
- 50:01Wow. They're basically resetting
- 50:03everyone back to zero and saying.
- 50:05Okay, now everything is as deadly as it was the day.
- 50:09You hit level cap. I don't think they're doing
- 50:12that. I mean, hopefully not but
- 50:15there's two things, they consider one.
- 50:17Is that classic has always had a condensed to release schedule.
- 50:21Also, it's is so it doesn't become as stale because you are
- 50:30seeing new content period. And to, is that when we were
- 50:36doing this, you weren't immediately on, at the end of
- 50:39naxxramas being able to solo dungeons.
- 50:41It wasn't until we were a much later and expansion that you
- 50:44could have a person solo Dungeons and getting to that
- 50:47point where you could Soul over almost solo dungeons.
- 50:51Was part of the fun and power fantasy of like, oh I'm such a
- 50:57strong hero, I'm a DPS, they can tank the boss myself and kill
- 51:01it, right? I'm I'm a Healer that can like,
- 51:04run through and tank. All of these things.
- 51:06I'm a tank that like, says you guys sit here and and clean up
- 51:10after me, because remember group, Luke wasn't a thing.
- 51:13So people were learning one of the time while you just like,
- 51:16kill em. Oh um, that like that power
- 51:19fantasy. Is going to be most expressed in
- 51:25those dungeon runs and is now going to be lost in those
- 51:28dungeon runs. So, again, they're like Bears
- 51:31positives. There was definitely positives.
- 51:33But again, there's this is where you're at it.
- 51:36You're at a Tipping Point. Yeah, anyways, yeah, keep going
- 51:40moving through. And hopefully, hopefully, we can
- 51:42get through the rest of these a little bit more quickly, but
- 51:44here we are. The initial raid.
- 51:47Next Ramos will have the difficulty scaled.
- 51:51Up from where it was initially released in 2008, with health
- 51:56and, and damage scaled to be a little bit more difficult than
- 52:00it was back then. Because they willingly admit,
- 52:04that they kind of messed up with, with the re-release of
- 52:08naxxramas because of how difficult it was in vanilla.
- 52:11They were just like, maybe we need to scale stuff back.
- 52:14So they did for its release in Wrath of the Lich King is the
- 52:17first raid that was available and they favorite He knows that
- 52:21that was a bad idea because they want us to have something a
- 52:26little bit more meaty to chew through until all the work gets
- 52:29released which you know, it won't be the same length of time
- 52:33as it was back. Endeared, initial release but
- 52:35still still is going to be, you know, we're going to be in next
- 52:38Ramos for quite some time. Team is contemplating ideas to
- 52:43make heroic dungeon content remain relevant through the
- 52:45entire expansion. We've already talked about the
- 52:47best, but something else is that Are they said that turton was
- 52:56initially purchased by badges. So, you know, the the problem of
- 53:02having badges be relevant, throughout the entire expansion,
- 53:05kind of gets resolved, by the time, you get to tier 10.
- 53:08But basically what they're talking about is expanding that
- 53:11out to the rest of the tears that are available.
- 53:14So all like, okay, this remind this reminded me.
- 53:21Cuz you could purchase the old, tear re-tear with badges by
- 53:28chain running dungeon. So they were relevant rewards
- 53:31and they were like, they were way easier and stuff and then
- 53:34the stuff for the current here. You would then need to like
- 53:38actually start diving into into the more challenging content.
- 53:42So yeah, again like like I said by the like they said rather by
- 53:48tier 10 it absolutely solved itself.
- 53:51They're making it that same sort of structure all the way through
- 53:55so sure I think that's fine but you know what, this is exactly
- 54:00what we keep asking for in modern be like, you know,
- 54:04instead of doing 20 different currencies, why don't you just
- 54:09make it uniform Valor and and honor or whatever you want and
- 54:16this is for old tear stuff to get you caught up.
- 54:20And this is What you do for current tear stuff?
- 54:23Yeah, yeah. So emblems emblem, will drop the
- 54:28same way. Every tear set pieces would be
- 54:30acquired the same way every tear and they're looking at making
- 54:36the raid lockouts function the same way, but also making it to
- 54:39where 10 and 25 player. Raids drop emblems of Valor and
- 54:44heroic dungeons, will drop emblems of heroism.
- 54:47The question that I have that, I don't think we'll have an
- 54:50answer. For a couple more weeks yet is
- 54:55if they plan on every patch resetting emblems.
- 55:00Because if they do, then that also furthers, the idea that
- 55:07heroic dungeons are going to be something that everyone's
- 55:09looking to do throughout the entire expansion because there
- 55:12are going to be pieces that are going to be purchasable with the
- 55:16with the emblems of heroism that you get from the heroic
- 55:18dungeons. But you kind of you kind of also
- 55:23have to know that they definitely will be doing this
- 55:27with emblems of Valor because the ability to go run a raid,
- 55:31get everything, get all your tear farmed out and then go
- 55:36through and recap your Valor going into the next year, just
- 55:40so you can just purchase everything that that every what
- 55:45they did with every season is that your Valor would Grade.
- 55:53You can become to become the lower tier, and your lower tier
- 55:56would get converted to Silver. Gotcha, right.
- 56:01So then you would start fresh building up your Valor for the
- 56:05current stuff. Without anybody getting a leg
- 56:07up. Mmm, right.
- 56:09Yeah. And you could fill in holes but
- 56:11you could have always filled in the holes because you had the
- 56:13Valor last season, but now it becomes way faster to acquire
- 56:17the lower tier badge. Yeah, just yeah.
- 56:20Jump mechanic that again. Hey, ba turn dragonflight.
- 56:26Yeah, we've done the work in their weak, Link in the judge.
- 56:29But yeah I think that that that is a great idea.
- 56:32I think that's something they could definitely do.
- 56:34The last thing, the last thing is that they said that all the
- 56:38original rattle Hitch, King rate and dungeon items will be
- 56:40available in the game and will retain their unique art.
- 56:45So there are a few items that I think this could be talking
- 56:51about may be corrupted ashbringer, Slayer of the
- 56:54lifeless? I it's hard.
- 56:57It's hard to think. What other items they could be
- 57:01talking about? Like there's there's maybe like
- 57:04a couple of dungeon items that I think got like a maybe got a
- 57:10upgrade in in retail that they're talking about, but I
- 57:16don't know of any off the top of my head that this could be
- 57:19talking about. So I am at a loss as to what
- 57:22this actually is talking about personally, Well, maybe the
- 57:28release, there's no. Maybe they can write in, and let
- 57:31us know about some unique artwork that was on items in
- 57:35Wrath of the Lich King. Now, that being said, I really
- 57:40took more time reading about their principles and what they
- 57:45were trying to do that entire thing about making the world,
- 57:49the main character, that's from an article that they just
- 57:51released. So, there are three pillars were
- 57:54protect social experiences. Something I We were talking
- 57:57about a lot, just now you have approachable in familiar.
- 58:02That's something that is especially when you have a
- 58:05system that stays the same throughout the expansion that
- 58:08allows it to be approachable and familiar.
- 58:10You're not having to learn about shards of domination, this tear
- 58:13and about the Catalyst of creation next year.
- 58:17And hey, are we still trying to put together whatever it was
- 58:21back in Castle natural. Yeah.
- 58:24It's like, no, no. You don't get those emblems
- 58:26anymore. You get your weapons out of the
- 58:28out of the raid and every tear it was it was changing making it
- 58:32approachable. And familiar means having a
- 58:35consistent way of doing things, lower tier stuff being one
- 58:40badge, higher tier stuff, being higher badge, not 20 different
- 58:45forms of so lash cinders, Soul floss, whatever.
- 58:51They want to put out. Good grief him and then the
- 58:58world being the main character. I think is something that we had
- 59:03a lot of in Mists of Pandaria as a last really big one, but just
- 59:09the creatures and the environment and that section of
- 59:13the world is so storied in Wrath of the Lich King.
- 59:17Because The Spire of ice and Sarah Knight that makes up
- 59:24icecrown. Citadel the ever-varying locales
- 59:29that works toward within the tight in Citadel of older war--,
- 59:37right? Those are all very historic
- 59:39things, the broken world tree, That we end one of the zones
- 59:45that I still think is one of the, my favorite zones to this
- 59:48day, Grizzly Hills, that's all Wrath of the Lich King.
- 59:53So, hopefully, that sort of thing is being thought of again,
- 59:59because classic has definitely influenced shadowlands, be
- 1:00:05seized come and gone. And now we're moving in the
- 1:00:07Wrath of the Lich King, and that was in development.
- 1:00:10Same time as the other beta that we talked about earlier this
- 1:00:12week. Which was shadowlands as I'd
- 1:00:16rather not shadowlands, dragonflight.
- 1:00:18And so if those two can Be in development.
- 1:00:23Same time. Have they have those
- 1:00:24conversations? They're remembering these things
- 1:00:27into dragonflight, I'm super happy for it.
- 1:00:30I want to see what kind of changes how these changes pan
- 1:00:34out as we get deeper into this beta.
- 1:00:36Which today, we now can get to the level cap of 80.
- 1:00:41That is something that came out today.
- 1:00:43And yeah, I'm gonna try and play the thing is that, you know
- 1:00:48what, I'm going to have to play a death knight because I have no
- 1:00:51classic. Then they don't have templates
- 1:00:53yet. So I'm going to do a death
- 1:00:54knight and have to run it through BC to get into Rath.
- 1:01:00Could they just give me the like maybe they like do they have
- 1:01:03templates? I honestly I meant by playing
- 1:01:05this weekend. I think there are level 70
- 1:01:08templates, I think there are. So you may be in luck there,
- 1:01:12they're not, but I will doing that.
- 1:01:14I know that there was talk about templates in in the forums and
- 1:01:19stuff. So that's, that's something that
- 1:01:21I would, I would I definitely think that they would be doing.
- 1:01:26But again, I came home, notice that I was in the beta and, you
- 1:01:31know, hey, well, jump in there, get a chance.
- 1:01:33I'd be fine with 68 template, 68, damn plate.
- 1:01:36That means I can go into howling Forge, that means I can go into
- 1:01:39the borean tundra and just start leveling and that's all I'm
- 1:01:42looking for. Hopefully when I come back from
- 1:01:45vacation we can do a little play, maybe see what you're up
- 1:01:50to and we can level up together. But with that said, we've been
- 1:01:55talking a little bit About dragonflight and what influences
- 1:01:58might have and this week, the dragonflight alpha build was
- 1:02:05detected on the central distribution Network the CDN.
- 1:02:09If anybody wants to know what they're talking about with CDN,
- 1:02:11That's essential distribution Network and right now it's
- 1:02:15flagged for blizzard affiliate, so internal testing, but it is
- 1:02:22there. It cannot be data mind you can't
- 1:02:24see content from it. But it's a matter of time until
- 1:02:30we start getting a larger Alpha and the floodgates open up and
- 1:02:34we really start getting into the office.
- 1:02:36So I am really hyped for this live.
- 1:02:39You got any guests on when we will see this?
- 1:02:46Don't I think I think we're still okay, so obviously, okay,
- 1:02:52where we got to make this out. Obviously they have to get
- 1:02:56Expansion at the door by the end of the year by December, 31st
- 1:03:002020. That's when Dragon flight has to
- 1:03:02be released on or by I think that a healthy beta cycle for
- 1:03:12Modern World of Warcraft lasts, at least four months at a bare
- 1:03:20minimum, the beta cycle lasts for months.
- 1:03:26So if we're looking at getting this by the end of the year, by
- 1:03:31December 31st, which it's not going to be December 31st.
- 1:03:34I think we talked about it last episode.
- 1:03:35It's like, December 27th. I think that Tuesday is the
- 1:03:39Tuesday before the end of the year, so if we're to get it by
- 1:03:45then, In that 26th to 28th window worldwide, we are going
- 1:03:54to have that also have pre patch.
- 1:03:56So that's going to be at least. I would I would say probably
- 1:04:01where they would be the most comfortable with.
- 1:04:03It would be about two, maybe three weeks if pre patch before,
- 1:04:08actually getting it out the door.
- 1:04:10So we're looking at, like, by Thanksgiving.
- 1:04:14To get the pre patch to us. So, end of November, so, I think
- 1:04:23the latest that they can get the beta out, but not Alpha, which
- 1:04:31is what we immediately, headed. Quickly, cut the math for you
- 1:04:35here. Yeah, you're saying November,
- 1:04:38right? Let's count people of November
- 1:04:41and say that you're at the 11th month, you subtract the for you.
- 1:04:45Go to seven year at July and July is your beta which means
- 1:04:49that you're looking at three weeks four weeks of alpha if
- 1:04:54they release it literally next week.
- 1:04:57Yeah. And I think it's going to be 6.
- 1:05:00Not and that right? Is July.
- 1:05:06And if they released an alpha in July, they're eating into your
- 1:05:10beta time. Now, like I think I think your
- 1:05:13premise is faulty photo. Same reasons that we said last
- 1:05:16week, it ain't happening end of this year.
- 1:05:20Yeah. Yeah, like that.
- 1:05:23Like, mathematically, it's stupid tight on how fast they're
- 1:05:30moving with this and how fast they'll have to move with the
- 1:05:33beta test. Like this, the alpha would need
- 1:05:37to be relatively close to how this thing's going to look like,
- 1:05:42when it launches, and we only have two talent trees.
- 1:05:47Like me and I'm terrified. Okay.
- 1:05:52So, Just to put it Forward, right?
- 1:05:57The beta has to be feature complete, which means
- 1:06:00everything's available the entire leveling experience.
- 1:06:03All of the features including the talent trees for all of the
- 1:06:07classes, all of the classes and races that they're going to put
- 1:06:10in there, right? And what we would be doing a 10
- 1:06:14game. I honestly suspect an alpha is
- 1:06:19going to take something like five.
- 1:06:21Like I want to say, six weeks, I want to say six or more weeks is
- 1:06:26tight because six weeks means that every week the releasing a
- 1:06:31new zone for zones is for weeks, right?
- 1:06:35And on the fifth week, They're doing any.
- 1:06:41They're doing endgame stuff. And a six-week could be them
- 1:06:48testing them, testing just make sure everything stable before
- 1:06:52saying beta. So let's say right that's like
- 1:06:56super tight that means they did. They literally do not have a
- 1:06:59week where they cannot be releasing a major thing to test.
- 1:07:04Right? Yeah.
- 1:07:04And that's assuming zones there. There are is the for leveling
- 1:07:08zones plus the starting zone for the volcker / Drac Drac fear,
- 1:07:13right? There's endgame content.
- 1:07:15I met, six weeks, every week, something needs to be hitting.
- 1:07:20Yeah, we're going up on on certain weeks.
- 1:07:24Yeah, that's assuming that nothing is in a broken state
- 1:07:29that they can't put it out to test.
- 1:07:32So, you know, forbid, anything going wrong with with the alpha,
- 1:07:38which could set the team back weeks.
- 1:07:42If something comes out that they aren't at a place where they can
- 1:07:47put it out for testing, because they do have to get all that
- 1:07:49stuff tested before they can get into the Beta.
- 1:07:53But I guess they don't technically have to but like it
- 1:07:55would be a really good idea for them to do that.
- 1:07:59I have I work in, I have Worked in project management.
- 1:08:03Right now, I'm just an account managers or that you don't do
- 1:08:05the project management, but I have worked in project
- 1:08:07management. And the number one thing that
- 1:08:09screws people over is not leaving enough time.
- 1:08:12For testing happens all the time.
- 1:08:14You're like, hey, we can get this website out and it's like,
- 1:08:17oh you should leave a month for testing.
- 1:08:19And then you say, oh it's going to be ready by by the end of the
- 1:08:23month and suddenly you need that month for testing.
- 1:08:26You, you cut it out because you're like that should have
- 1:08:28been fine. These are things that costly
- 1:08:30happen. Now.
- 1:08:35What blizzard is doing is they're making some strides to
- 1:08:38make sure that they do have the Manpower and that's our next
- 1:08:42piece of news. Prolia.
- 1:08:45Sorry proletariat Studios has been acquired by blizzard and
- 1:08:51that it news was actually put out yesterday.
- 1:08:56That is a team of 100. Designers that are going to be
- 1:09:01moved directly to the World of Warcraft team.
- 1:09:05No other team is getting them. They're not being put to work on
- 1:09:07like Warcraft, Arcane, ArcLight, rumble, or any of those games
- 1:09:13into in the incubator, like, the unnamed Survival game.
- 1:09:17No, they're going straight to work on World of Warcraft and
- 1:09:21they're being put to dragonflight now these are
- 1:09:25conversations that actually work.
- 1:09:28Started up in December of last year, December 20, 21.
- 1:09:32And John height went on record saying that hey, we know that
- 1:09:39there was struggles to actually put forward content for, for
- 1:09:44shadowlands stating the obvious there.
- 1:09:47And there were sizable gaps between the content updates.
- 1:09:51So they also recognize that it has been hard hiring.
- 1:09:58Ali with blizzards weakened reputation.
- 1:10:04And we were talking about this in the Discord and it's like the
- 1:10:08this article was basically addressing all the points.
- 1:10:11I said, because every week it's my last day at blizzard, I'm
- 1:10:15taking my photo in front of the statue.
- 1:10:17I'm not going to put a put any of those words around the statue
- 1:10:20there because right. Mmm, people leaving their
- 1:10:24hemorrhaging Talent. There has been Headhunters and
- 1:10:29stuff who have reached out to people who have been very
- 1:10:31critical of Blizzard saying, could you tone it down, you're
- 1:10:34making it very hard for me to find people.
- 1:10:37There have been positions that have been open for almost a year
- 1:10:42for a company that used to have to turn people away left, right
- 1:10:46and Center because they were going there. and so in order to
- 1:10:54quickly bring in talented people, They are requiring this
- 1:11:01studio and setting them to work on World of Warcraft.
- 1:11:04Now that was something that that isn't in the notes that live.
- 1:11:09And I were talking about before we started started recording
- 1:11:14where we were saying We had heard reports.
- 1:11:18And again, this is on confirmed that these guys had actually
- 1:11:21started working or ready, as early as last month in May.
- 1:11:26Again, I don't recall exactly reading that anywhere.
- 1:11:29So it's an unsubstantiated thing.
- 1:11:31But it is clear that they want to make sure that they are
- 1:11:36hitting the ground running, and if they can get these hundred
- 1:11:39people going. Remember that onboarding is a
- 1:11:44slow process. It's not only Having somebody
- 1:11:48start and them not being familiar with it but having
- 1:11:50somebody mentor and guide those people so that they do it.
- 1:11:53Not only well but in the way that you as a company wanted to
- 1:12:00be done, blizzard has a particular way that they do
- 1:12:03things just like any company. And that's, especially important
- 1:12:07when you're bringing in 100 new faces, and these 100 new faces
- 1:12:11have all worked together, doing things their way.
- 1:12:14So it's going to be a process to onboard.
- 1:12:18Yeah, yeah. And that like, we know we know
- 1:12:23from from the article that the the work that they're putting
- 1:12:26forth will be seen as early as dragonfly.
- 1:12:31I don't know. It's impossible to say like
- 1:12:34we'll have to look and see what the credits are on on the actual
- 1:12:39expansion, once we get there. And if we see any of these these
- 1:12:43names like cross-referencing because this studio, Area
- 1:12:47Studios. The, the studio that made was
- 1:12:50spell break, I think is the name of the, they're like, major
- 1:12:53title that was released from the studio.
- 1:12:56All of the, the developers, it proletariat worked on.
- 1:13:00It is as far as I, as far as I know, but That is a very
- 1:13:08different game from World of Warcraft.
- 1:13:11They have worked on one game and even still some of the, like,
- 1:13:17some of those disciplines do cross over.
- 1:13:21If you have people who are doing modeling, you have people who
- 1:13:24are doing rigging, you have people who are doing
- 1:13:26environmental design, your people who are doing Graphics
- 1:13:29effects and just because The game plays a different way
- 1:13:34doesn't mean that all of those different.
- 1:13:40Those different disciplines do not apply over the game, right?
- 1:13:47It's sure that a game that works differently might have been on a
- 1:13:53different system plays in a completely different.
- 1:13:55Genre, they're not going to be doing balancing the same way,
- 1:13:58but at least they know, How to create a character to balance,
- 1:14:04how to create a fireball if they're doing a volkers, right?
- 1:14:09How to create a dungeon to run through and they're just working
- 1:14:14with the wow, team and becoming part of the wow, team to do it
- 1:14:18as the, wow, team would. So it's not the same as 0, we
- 1:14:21have to teach you how to make an RPG.
- 1:14:23No. You're just yeah.
- 1:14:25Teaching them how to do the lighting, the Wow.
- 1:14:27Way to make it look like everything.
- 1:14:29Assistant Lee in. Wow, yeah.
- 1:14:32And and this is like, it's good news.
- 1:14:35It's good news that they're bringing on 100 developers on to
- 1:14:38the wow team. But there are there are you know
- 1:14:42some things that also need to be considered because anytime you
- 1:14:46have a company come in like this where you're just wholesale
- 1:14:50bringing one team into another and folding together.
- 1:14:54There are inherently going to be Overlaps in in what one person
- 1:15:01is able to do with the the abilities and capabilities of
- 1:15:05another person that exists. So I I don't want to be Debbie
- 1:15:11Downer necessarily especially since this is, you know, this is
- 1:15:17good news there. There is a little bit of of
- 1:15:23worried that there is going to be a little bit of downsizing in
- 1:15:26the wake of this addition to the team because they're like I
- 1:15:30said, there are just going to be redundancies, but there's going
- 1:15:32to be multiple people that are basically trained in the same
- 1:15:37disciplines that. At the better person in the eyes
- 1:15:42of Blizzard is gonna get the position over the other.
- 1:15:45So, can I sure? Can I be more negative than you?
- 1:15:49Absolutely. All right, there isn't going to
- 1:15:53be any redundancies, nobody's going to get canned for Simply
- 1:15:58Having the same discipline of somebody else Blizzard's
- 1:16:02hemorrhaging. If there's a redundancy, now,
- 1:16:06three months later, there may not be, if there's remains of
- 1:16:10redundancy, there's other teams that can use these qualified
- 1:16:13people, they can shift them around as they need to.
- 1:16:16They need these people 100 people.
- 1:16:18They need these people. They're not after 94 people or
- 1:16:2450 of the hundred people to then cut a to cut down.
- 1:16:28If they did that, they would just bought up a smaller studio
- 1:16:30and save themselves the time as well as all of the Money that's
- 1:16:34going to cost them for letting people go in quote, unquote
- 1:16:37downsizing as well as the morale of downsizing right after you
- 1:16:42brought a people, when you're ready hemorrhaging it is suicide
- 1:16:46to downsize. These people they're going to
- 1:16:48lose a lot of these people. Anyways in the this is not the
- 1:16:52company I signed up for or the people at blizzard who are
- 1:16:57already leaving and giving their notices anyways.
- 1:16:59They made these talks in December and they've only been
- 1:17:02losing more people. Since like, you think that they
- 1:17:06have the wiggle room to downsize is incredibly generous and the
- 1:17:11update of the estate. It's, I ain't missed it returned
- 1:17:16but like I love and I'm literally quoting a blizzard
- 1:17:21staff, member who said their former blizzard staff member to
- 1:17:24set this. I love blizzard games, I love
- 1:17:27the people at blizzard. Currently I hate the company.
- 1:17:33Right there, making this buyout, and this absorbing less than a
- 1:17:40year away from them themselves, being absorbed into.
- 1:17:44Microsoft, the future of these guys.
- 1:17:48Shifted again. Sorry shifted and will shift
- 1:17:52again. And if you worry about
- 1:17:55redundancies and such now wait until Microsoft comes in And
- 1:18:00they start, merging non-development places that
- 1:18:04Activision already took. Right?
- 1:18:06Developers are the last ones are going to going to go after.
- 1:18:10Yeah, because they they want to put out more stuff.
- 1:18:13Hopefully. Microsoft is the benevolent
- 1:18:19savior that people want to hope that it is.
- 1:18:23I'm I'm more hoping for the people at blizzard to make the
- 1:18:27changes that they need in their environment.
- 1:18:29But regardless It seems like a the right company to go for in
- 1:18:34terms of what companies can say on their thing.
- 1:18:37They, they are a studio that says that they are about the
- 1:18:40audience first or about Innovation there about quality.
- 1:18:43They're about loving what we do, which is very reminiscent of
- 1:18:47what blizzard has said that they strive for Of course, these are
- 1:18:52words and what will come forward?
- 1:18:55Is proof in the pudding. But that's part of it too.
- 1:18:59Because, in the talks, they said, yeah, blizzard has a
- 1:19:03damaged reputation and they need to fix that.
- 1:19:07And the company proletariat could have resisted more and
- 1:19:13they had those conversations. I said, okay, you're trying to
- 1:19:17do more All right, but I can hope that add a studio level
- 1:19:25blizzard. Is doing more for their staff.
- 1:19:31And that this influx of people who maybe adhere to the values
- 1:19:37on their webpage, more will be a positive influence.
- 1:19:42Yeah. But at this point, I, I will
- 1:19:47wait and see based on what is done because you can put a
- 1:19:53non-binding clause that you're going to actually put forward,
- 1:19:57the real incidents that are happening in your company and
- 1:20:01then you can put Bobby kotick in For another year.
- 1:20:09And I'm going to wait and see if we actually see those reports
- 1:20:15come out to the shareholders. Yeah, at this point.
- 1:20:19Yeah, hopefully this helps hopefully, they're good people.
- 1:20:24Hopefully, we see these things and thus, yes, John height says,
- 1:20:29okay, you're going to see this in dragon fight, but he didn't
- 1:20:33say at dragonflight launch, you didn't say, 10.0 or ten point
- 1:20:370.5, they'll be up and running. He just said within dragon fight
- 1:20:41which as a expansions go, is anywhere within the next two and
- 1:20:45a half years because we've got half a year before it launches.
- 1:20:48And then another two years after that right.
- 1:20:51Insurer. Yeah, that'll definitely happen.
- 1:20:53I have no doubt. About that.
- 1:20:55How much we see early enough for it to matter.
- 1:20:59That's what I want to know. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:02I think the, The Testament to their ability to come in and get
- 1:21:09business taken care of, is gonna be how they're being brought on
- 1:21:15improves or doesn't improve or negatively.
- 1:21:19Impacts the the level of Just the level of cadence that we've
- 1:21:30known about in in, you know, blizzards history.
- 1:21:34Like we look at Legion and the content Cadence.
- 1:21:37They were able to hit during that expansion and kind of
- 1:21:42everything since then has been directly looked back.
- 1:21:46And compared to say, why can't you do that again, that was
- 1:21:51fantastic. Can we go back to that, please?
- 1:21:54So I think This is going to be another expansion where we're
- 1:21:58looking at the the Cadence of content and are going to be
- 1:22:03judging it. You know, not only in in the
- 1:22:08wake of Legion but also in the wake of shadowlands where we did
- 1:22:13have large quantities of time where we weren't getting
- 1:22:17anything and will continue to that, get anything until this
- 1:22:22Alpha comes out. So hopefully, hopefully will be
- 1:22:24in an alpha soon. Soon.
- 1:22:26And hopefully, the addition of these 100 developers roughly 100
- 1:22:31developers will Decrease the time that it takes for them to
- 1:22:36get these these content patches out to to the player base
- 1:22:39because I think that that is desperately needed.
- 1:22:44Okay, I think that's a great thought to end on.
- 1:22:50Um that said we did have two questions but I feel like we
- 1:22:55kind of already asked the answered them in our earlier
- 1:22:58conversation just through way of our conversation epidemia had
- 1:23:02asked as blizzard has told us about and shown us at ease of
- 1:23:07the revamped. You I coming with dragonflight
- 1:23:10would you like to see the same wrath as right?
- 1:23:12Same revamp and For the Lich King Classic.
- 1:23:16And in that yeah I think you and I are on the polar opposite of
- 1:23:21that where you think that the sort of modernizations and stuff
- 1:23:25should be in our classic and that and I guess I'm falling
- 1:23:28more towards the be no changes thing.
- 1:23:30Pure sort of play where it's like if I want to play classic,
- 1:23:33I want to play it as it was original and with that sort of
- 1:23:37stuff, and there is cost to there is costs to the
- 1:23:43modernization or conveniences that are through.
- 1:23:46Obviously UI stuff is something that you said people will just
- 1:23:52grab their mods and grab their week orders and shimmy it in.
- 1:23:56So why not offer it? I don't know, I think, I think
- 1:24:03that the purest will be there and whether it's an option or
- 1:24:08not, if blizzard puts it in, as an option, sure.
- 1:24:12But typically, they don't retroactively put in old school
- 1:24:15things, once they've modernized it, they're like, yeah, here you
- 1:24:18go. This is how it's supposed to be
- 1:24:20well, and, and I'm, you know, for the sake of clarifying,
- 1:24:25where my stances I hundred thousand percent with them to
- 1:24:29put in the modern auction house, and to Classic.
- 1:24:32Yeah, yeah. Here definitely.
- 1:24:34Definitely wanting all your modern Comforts with your no
- 1:24:38suck. It's not all the modern Comforts
- 1:24:41that I want. It is, it is just a polishing of
- 1:24:46how, how the game operates at a base level, which I think there
- 1:24:52could be some amount of it brought in.
- 1:24:54I don't, I don't think that I would go.
- 1:24:56As far as to say that I want every last bit of the UI that's
- 1:25:01coming revamped. I think, we don't know what
- 1:25:04every last. If it is like that smoke, but
- 1:25:07like, okay, what from the modern auction house, would you not
- 1:25:10want in put back and retroactively?
- 1:25:15I don't know, I don't know the answer that question, right?
- 1:25:19It's a hard thing to say. It's an easy thing to say, not
- 1:25:24all of the modernizations. It's a harder thing to be like,
- 1:25:27oh, what is the monetization that you would leave on the
- 1:25:30table? And I think that's kind of the
- 1:25:33thing to put forward. But again, that's a, that's a
- 1:25:38question for another day because we literally do not know what
- 1:25:41the dragonflight modernization. Entails or we can't tell you
- 1:25:46what we would leave out. Yeah.
- 1:25:50But that's going to do it for us today.
- 1:25:53I hope you guys enjoy your candidate.
- 1:25:56If you are in Canada, your Independence Day, happy July
