- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the program. In
- 0:03Speaker 1: this episode, we're going to spin back up to Moscow
- 0:06Speaker 1: and we're going to hear from Kaylee Gonsalvas's parents from
- 0:10Speaker 1: their latest interview with Sean Hannity. And I think that
- 0:14Speaker 1: one of the things that gets lost a lot here
- 0:17Speaker 1: is the fact that these families are suffering on a
- 0:20Speaker 1: daily basis. No matter what happens, these kids aren't coming back.
- 0:25Speaker 1: And that's the reality that these families have to face
- 0:28Speaker 1: every single minute of every single day. And then think
- 0:31Speaker 1: about the time that they were killed right around the holidays.
- 0:36Speaker 1: So if you want to talk about somebody that's looking
- 0:39Speaker 1: to really cause the most amount of pain and suffering,
- 0:43Speaker 1: is there a better time? I hate to use that word,
- 0:45Speaker 1: but a better time to do it. And I think
- 0:48Speaker 1: that Brian Kolberger shows that time specifically to maximize the
- 0:52Speaker 1: pain and suffering. And I also think that he is
- 0:55Speaker 1: doing the same thing now, but I think that it
- 0:58Speaker 1: could really backfire on him because if it goes to trial,
- 1:02Speaker 1: I think that Brian Colberger gets the death penalty. So
- 1:05Speaker 1: you know what they say, right, be very careful what
- 1:08Speaker 1: you wish for. Today, we have an article from Fox
- 1:12Speaker 1: News and the headline. Parents of Idaho massacre victim faced
- 1:15Speaker 1: daily nightmare while demanding death penalty after shock plea twist.
- 1:20Speaker 1: This article was authored by Madison Colombo. The parents of
- 1:26Speaker 1: University of Idaho's student Kaylee Gonsalves opened up about the
- 1:30Speaker 1: daily reality of losing their daughter, revealing their morning thoughts
- 1:34Speaker 1: and nightly prayers since her murder. Speaking on the Hangout
- 1:38Speaker 1: with Sean Hannity podcast, Christy and Steve Gonsalves detailed their
- 1:41Speaker 1: emotional struggle as convicted killer Brian Colberger attempts to withdraw
- 1:46Speaker 1: us guilty plea in the murder of four University of
- 1:49Speaker 1: Idaho students in twenty twenty two. I can't even imagine
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'd be on some law abiding citizen shit trying to
- 1:56Speaker 1: get myself in jail with Brian Colberger so I could do.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I'm fucking pincushioning. And I'm not even kidding when I
- 2:04Speaker 1: say it, especially right now. Can you imagine being a father,
- 2:09Speaker 1: a mother, a brother, a sister, whatever, and knowing that
- 2:13Speaker 1: this disgusting fuck is now trying to walk it back,
- 2:17Speaker 1: is now trying to say that he's not guilty after
- 2:19Speaker 1: all the nonsense, after all the carrying on, and in
- 2:23Speaker 1: my opinion, there's only one reason, and that's because Brian
- 2:26Speaker 1: Coberger is not done making these families suffer. The first
- 2:32Speaker 1: thing every single morning, I often ask myself, is this
- 2:35Speaker 1: going to be forever? Will this eventually end? Will it eventually?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Will it not be the first thing that I think
- 2:40Speaker 1: about when I open my eyes. Christy told host Sean Hannity,
- 2:46Speaker 1: and the amount of shit that the Gonsales family was
- 2:48Speaker 1: taking from people is unbelievable. I remember at the time
- 2:52Speaker 1: being just shocked. Honestly, how could anybody criticize a father
- 2:58Speaker 1: or a mother in the wake of them losing a
- 3:01Speaker 1: child the way they did, The audacity of people to
- 3:04Speaker 1: try and tell others how to grieve, And then of
- 3:07Speaker 1: course you add people out there saying all kinds of
- 3:09Speaker 1: crazy stuff about how they're hampering the investigation, et cetera,
- 3:14Speaker 1: by trying to hold people accountable. And I said at
- 3:16Speaker 1: the time that anybody that's criticizing them should just shut
- 3:19Speaker 1: the fuck up until you're in the position that they're in,
- 3:25Speaker 1: until you lose your daughter, your son, your loved one
- 3:28Speaker 1: to some maniac who comes into the house and murders
- 3:30Speaker 1: them while they're sleeping probably a good idea to give
- 3:34Speaker 1: people some room to grieve how they want. But at
- 3:36Speaker 1: this point I've learned that it's just a new way
- 3:38Speaker 1: of life, she added. Kelly Gan saw This was one
- 3:41Speaker 1: of four University of Idaho students killed in November of
- 3:44Speaker 1: twenty twenty two. Brian Colberger pleaded guilty in July of
- 3:48Speaker 1: twenty twenty five the four accounts of first degree murder
- 3:51Speaker 1: and one count of felony burglary as part of a
- 3:54Speaker 1: deal that spared him the death penalty. He has since
- 3:57Speaker 1: sought to withdraw as guilty plea. And we have a
- 4:00Speaker 1: system that affords people like Coburger chance and chance again
- 4:05Speaker 1: when it comes to trying to get out of prison
- 4:07Speaker 1: or trying to get off of capital punishment. Meanwhile, we
- 4:12Speaker 1: have people like the Gonsalva's family, like the Mogan family,
- 4:15Speaker 1: like the Chapin family, like the kern Odles, and nobody
- 4:19Speaker 1: cares what's going on for them, Nobody cares how this
- 4:22Speaker 1: affects them. I find it gross, and I think that
- 4:26Speaker 1: there is a large gap with how the families the
- 4:28Speaker 1: victims are treated and with how the accused and now
- 4:31Speaker 1: convicted are treated. Look, I get it, we have to
- 4:34Speaker 1: do everything we can to make sure that Brian Colberger
- 4:37Speaker 1: gets a fair trial if we go that direction, and
- 4:40Speaker 1: I'm certainly on record talking about that. But at the
- 4:44Speaker 1: same time, there has to be a medium ground and
- 4:48Speaker 1: the victims' families, they have to be respected. Gonsalva's father,
- 4:55Speaker 1: Steve added that every night Christy hopes their daughter visits
- 4:58Speaker 1: her in her dreams so she can tell Kaylee she
- 5:01Speaker 1: loves her. This shit is heartbreaking, and reading through those
- 5:04Speaker 1: autopsy reports, I almost regret that I started. It's so
- 5:11Speaker 1: disgusting and it's so evil what happened to these people,
- 5:15Speaker 1: these kids, that it's hard to quantify it with words.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Do you know how demented and how evil and disgusting
- 5:21Speaker 1: you have to be to do what Brian Koberger did,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and not only that, but leading up to it, stalking them,
- 5:30Speaker 1: watching the house, the whole thing. This fucking guy was
- 5:33Speaker 1: one step away from becoming Frances Dollar Hide first and foremost.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Before she goes to bed, she's praying that Kaylee comes
- 5:40Speaker 1: and visits her. She wants to have a conversation. She
- 5:43Speaker 1: wants to talk to her, she wants to tell her
- 5:45Speaker 1: she loves her, she wants to say everything that we
- 5:47Speaker 1: can't say, Steve said, and then if you don't have
- 5:50Speaker 1: that dream, you wake up disappointed that you didn't have
- 5:53Speaker 1: a dream about your baby and had that conversation, and
- 5:57Speaker 1: then you just try to fake through it. He added,
- 5:59Speaker 1: I don't even know what to say to that. The
- 6:01Speaker 1: pain has to be so severe and the suffering has
- 6:03Speaker 1: to be so traumatic that it must feel like you
- 6:07Speaker 1: can't even breathe. I know all of us have lost
- 6:11Speaker 1: loved ones, right, cancer, whatever it might be, and there's
- 6:15Speaker 1: a hole, even though you know that it was natural causes,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and you know the medical system did everything they could
- 6:21Speaker 1: to help them. Whatever, this is something different. We're talking
- 6:25Speaker 1: about kids who are laying in bed on a regular
- 6:29Speaker 1: night and who were murdered in a brutal fashion by
- 6:34Speaker 1: an absolute monster. And now this monster thinks he should
- 6:38Speaker 1: get a new trial after pleading guilty. Somebody please make
- 6:43Speaker 1: it make sense. Colberger is now seeking to withdraw the
- 6:47Speaker 1: guilty plea that spared him the death penalty for the
- 6:50Speaker 1: murder of Gonzalez, Madison Mogan, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle.
- 6:54Speaker 1: He was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences in prison
- 6:57Speaker 1: without the possibility of froll us ten years for burglary
- 7:02Speaker 1: helicopters volcanoes. Either that or we could have him and
- 7:06Speaker 1: Chad Daybell fight to the death and then the winner, well,
- 7:09Speaker 1: they get thrown into a volcano. In his post conviction challenge,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Colberger argues he received ineffective assistance of council and was
- 7:18Speaker 1: manipulated by the court appointed attorneys into accepting the deal.
- 7:22Speaker 1: He also alleges he was led to believe the deal
- 7:25Speaker 1: would give him better prison conditions, and he now maintains
- 7:28Speaker 1: that he's innocent. Say what now, you thought you were
- 7:31Speaker 1: going to have good prison conditions as a lifer. Is
- 7:34Speaker 1: that what you really thought? Sounds to me like you're
- 7:38Speaker 1: just grasping at straws because you know that you're fucked,
- 7:41Speaker 1: and you know that you're not a story anymore, and
- 7:44Speaker 1: you know that you're going to be in prison the
- 7:45Speaker 1: rest of your life. That's what it sounds like to me.
- 7:50Speaker 1: The gonsalvast family said Colberger's attempt to withdraw his plea
- 7:53Speaker 1: has been difficult for them after years of legal proceedings,
- 7:57Speaker 1: but Christy Gonsalves said his latest challenge could provide it
- 7:59Speaker 1: another opportunity for prosecutors to pursue the death penalty. And look,
- 8:05Speaker 1: that is the big problem for Coburger. If he does
- 8:08Speaker 1: get this thrown out, he's gonna have to face that.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And I think that he's going to be found guilty
- 8:15Speaker 1: if he gets another trial. With all the evidence we've seen,
- 8:19Speaker 1: especially going through it now, is there anybody out there
- 8:22Speaker 1: that still thinks this guy's innocent? Like, honestly, probably the
- 8:27Speaker 1: same people who are trying to tell you that Tyler
- 8:29Speaker 1: Robinson isn't a very good suspect. Now, of course we
- 8:33Speaker 1: don't know all the details there yet, right, but it's
- 8:36Speaker 1: sure looking like they got the right guy. Just like
- 8:38Speaker 1: I told you after they arrested Coburger. When you go
- 8:41Speaker 1: through the arrest AFFI David, and you start looking at
- 8:43Speaker 1: the circumstantial evidence, it becomes pretty hard to dispute it.
- 8:48Speaker 1: And talking about Coburger, there was an abundance of evidence
- 8:51Speaker 1: that pointed directly to him. God is looking out for us,
- 8:55Speaker 1: Christy said, and maybe this is because the first time
- 8:58Speaker 1: around it was wrong, and this time around he's going
- 9:01Speaker 1: to make sure it's done right, you know, And that
- 9:03Speaker 1: is the death penalty. So look, I think that the
- 9:07Speaker 1: death penalty should have always been what they were looking for.
- 9:11Speaker 1: They should have never entered into this plea. They should
- 9:14Speaker 1: have never given Brian Colberger any room to maneuver, and
- 9:18Speaker 1: they certainly should have put the families through this nonsense.
- 9:21Speaker 1: And that's most certainly what all of this is a
- 9:23Speaker 1: bunch of nonsense. If Brian Colberger was innocent, why did
- 9:28Speaker 1: he get up in that courtroom and tell the judge
- 9:30Speaker 1: that he was guilty? Why not tell the judge then
- 9:33Speaker 1: that you're being coerced, that you didn't have the proper
- 9:36Speaker 1: legal counsel, and that you're not going to plead guilty
- 9:39Speaker 1: because you're innocent. Could it be because the evidence was
- 9:42Speaker 1: stacked against you? Could it be that you knew that
- 9:45Speaker 1: you'd be cooked, And could it be that you think
- 9:49Speaker 1: that this is the only way that you're going to
- 9:51Speaker 1: get back in the spotlight. In my opinion, that's what
- 9:54Speaker 1: it is. I have a hard time believing that Colburger
- 9:56Speaker 1: thinks he's going to be successful here. Instead, what he
- 9:59Speaker 1: wants to do is get his name back out there
- 10:03Speaker 1: and give one last fu to the families. But that
- 10:06Speaker 1: grandstanding could lead directly to Brian Colberger getting lined up
- 10:10Speaker 1: for a trip to the firing squad. But I think
- 10:13Speaker 1: that we're a far way away from any of that occurring,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and I think that there's a long road before we
- 10:18Speaker 1: get anywhere near a new trial or anything that looks
- 10:22Speaker 1: like it. And as things continue to shake out, we'll
- 10:25Speaker 1: continue to follow along, and when we have some more information,
- 10:29Speaker 1: we'll get it added to the catalog. All the information
- 10:32Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
- 10:35Speaker 1: description box.
