- 0:00The newborn child has a mind, but it is not yet fully focused,
- 0:05awakened, and in control of the sensory instruments.
- 0:10Over time, as the child grows and matures, he can gain more
- 0:15precise control over his senses and his powers of action, and
- 0:20eventually the mind matures, can be trained and developed, and
- 0:26comes into its own with powers far exceeding those that were
- 0:30evident in the newborn child. The powers were latent,
- 0:35undeveloped and immature, and their ability to act was thereby
- 0:41very much circumscribed. We can look at this as a
- 0:46framework for understanding the growth and development of the
- 0:49psychic being and its influence and increasing mastery over the
- 0:54external instruments of the body, life and mind.
- 0:59Once it gains a measure of strength, it begins to project
- 1:02its influence more completely and more effectively on the
- 1:06outer instruments, and instead of being veiled by their normal
- 1:10lines of action, it begins to direct the action.
- 1:15Shrioro Bindo notes quote In the ordinary consciousness in which
- 1:20the mind, etcetera are not awakened, the psychic acts as
- 1:25well as it can through them. But according to the laws of the
- 1:29ignorance. The psychic being is there in
- 1:32all, but in very few is it well developed, well built up in the
- 1:37consciousness, or prominent in the front.
- 1:41In mind it is veiled, often ineffective or only an
- 1:45influence, not conscious enough or strong enough to support the
- 1:51spiritual life. End Quote Reference Sri
