- 0:24SPEAKER_00: I am too.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: We did a lot.
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: It feels like it was a long time ago because time's just flying by.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: But I think, yeah, we do have a lot to go over.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: And we haven't sat in these seats in a while.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: We're sitting here in my dining room for the first time in maybe a month.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: We've been in demand.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: We've been out there in the wild.
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: We've been at all of our subsquad sessions.
- 0:46SPEAKER_03: We've been hosting guests at all of a variety of locations.
- 0:49SPEAKER_03: So we're back to studio number one.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: And honestly, it feels good.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: It does feel good.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: It's nice and cozy.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: We were sipping on some red wine tonight.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: This is thanks to a wine, a wine pole that I did at the Holiday Galleria preview night a couple weeks ago with our friend Hannah Crickman.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Fun.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: That was fun.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: That was a good night.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: So yay.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: We can't have great podcasts without great sponsors.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: So shout out to Vue Events.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Vu Events had to be Vuo.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: It had to be Vuo.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And to our lovely friend Jennifer at Color Therapy.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Making our hair look nice.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And of course, Backspace Media, which is my company.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Always doing us well.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Yay.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: All that social media goodness.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: We have a lot to dive into tonight.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: We went to Spirit Bride.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: We went to Urban Nails Grand Opening.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: I signed a couple of really exciting clients officially since the last time that we were on here.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: And started a part-time job that I'm excited to tell you guys about.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And you busy lady over here.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And you have a little bundle of joy coming to your house maybe sooner than later.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: So we're going to dive into all of that tonight.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: But before we get too far into things, we're bringing back the trend decoder.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Dun dun dun.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Oh god.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: I bring it every time because it's been so long that we've done one alone that I can do that.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Well, I was scrambling to find trends today, but I did find a couple of really cute ones that I think will be fun to pick your brain about.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: See what I got.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the way that this goes is I give Rachel a name of a popular TikTok or Instagram trend.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And as she is not as chronically online as I am, this tends to puzzle her quite a bit.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And her idea of what the trend could possibly be is a lot of the time much more entertaining than what the trend actually is.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: Because I feel like I have nailed it the last time.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: You have you have been nailing it.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: I tried to find some with really tricky titles this time.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So we'll see.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Okay, the first one is called Out and In My Control.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: Out and in my control.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: This feels like something that the life coach would post.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: What's in my control?
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: What's not in my control?
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: I feel I don't know.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: This is a toughie.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to relate it to my everyday life.
- 3:20SPEAKER_03: I feel like if this was like a mother or something, they might be like things I can't control.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't know, starting the dishwasher, starting laundry, things I can't control.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: When my kids hit random buttons and interrupt the things that I could control.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: That's out of control.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: Oh man, can I get a hint?
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: I am afraid I will give it away.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: If I give you a hint.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: Just taking things I can control.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: I can control when I stop my vehicle.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: I can't control when other people stop theirs.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Okay, that's very true.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: I can control how much effort I put into something.
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: Things I can't control the weather or other people's actions.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'm going too hardcore with this.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: I think you're getting close, actually.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: You're kind of getting the first one, it was not too far off base either, but I feel like you're getting a little bit closer.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: I can imagine, especially in like a work setting, like I can control what my job is to do.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: And if I do everything and I deliver it, and someone takes that, and the next step is moved on to that person, and let's say it goes sideways for whatever reason after you finished it and gave it over to them.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's a good one.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: I like that one.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: I think, yeah, you're gonna do it.
- 4:42SPEAKER_03: I feel like it should be more fun.
- 4:44SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to think of a more fun one.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: It's very it this one is very exact.
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: There's not a lot of gray area here because there's one focal point.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: That is it, that is this.
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: I've been so exact.
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: I give up.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: What is it?
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Okay, this one is funny because it pulls in another thing that we do together.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: So the focal point of this, what is in control?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It's a so the the image is a flat lay.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, and it's over a cup of coffee.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, and the cup of coffee is labeled in.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: And then there's a whole lot of outliers like my agenda, my gum wrapper, just all these things.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: My car appointment, my dentist appointment, my kids' schedule, like all of these.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: So the the one thing that's in control is the coffee.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: I get that, and all the outer stuff is the stuff that's out of your control.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: But I'm also like, you can schedule your appointment and but there's only so many times available.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: There is, and then what if the doctor gets behind?
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And then you're there for forever.
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 5:51SPEAKER_03: I like the idea behind that where it's like you're in control of how you start your day, and you're also in control of making all the other things that don't work work.
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: That's true, and it is as the guy on Project Runway says, make it work, make it work.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: It's all in how you handle things, my dear.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Make it work.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: So, what's one thing on your out of my control list right now?
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Schedule.
- 6:14SPEAKER_03: If I can use that, like it is to an extent, but it's not because it's at the will of others, it's at the will of my time restraints and my goals of when I want to get stuff done.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: So that definitely that gas prices, that's out of my control.
- 6:29SPEAKER_03: So incredibly true related.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: Just doesn't matter.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: I have to do it.
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: Um, definitely the coffee in the morning can relate to that.
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: Every morning, I'm ahead of that.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: I prep my coffee.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: I lately I've been I brew it and then like the night before or nights before, and I pour it in jars and keep it in my fridge.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: So I have cold coffee the morning, and all I have to do is add my creamer and put it in a cup and go.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: But now I think it's almost time to just prep it in the pot so I can roll over and turn it on so I can have hot coffee.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: I love how you can just at your house the way she has her coffee station next to her bed.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: It is the most lit thing I've ever seen.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: I am so incredibly jealous.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Roll over and push the coffee.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she doesn't even have to get out of bed.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Nope.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Don't even need an alarm, just have to hear that.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: So in her control.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: I need to reset the timer so it does it itself.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, even better.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then I just hear it and smell and be like, okay, so I can get up.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: Coffee is the alarm clock.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because it is colder in the mornings now.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: It's 70 when I get up.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: 60 or 70.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: It's about to be like in the 30s in the morning, like later this week.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: Oh, gosh, it's already time to bring in my plant.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 7:44SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I can control that to an extent.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: But I totally get that now that you ask me that question.
- 7:49SPEAKER_03: Personally, definitely can't control all of your schedule.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: No.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: Mine just for tomorrow got changed, actually.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: So whatever, but I'm making it work.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: I think right now, the big thing that's out of control for me and it's driving me, no pun intended, absolutely insane is I have like my car is being a problem.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: It is, and it has such a big problem to it that I don't speak car, but I I know it's not good.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: I hear that.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't like it, and it's terrible and it's scary, but we're hopefully it's in the works of getting figured out.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Yes, I think it is.
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: And I guess if yeah, that was my sleight of hand of what I couldn't control.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: If you guys do I do now have transportation, you got a new car, and back on the road, which yes, does make shape.
- 8:39SPEAKER_03: She's on easy off.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, honestly, great timing.
- 8:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, for real.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: It's crazy how our lives do that.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: Look, we even wore the same shirt today.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: Not planned, the same line of our merch.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Yes, which by the way, you can check out on our Link Tree.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Dig it, Rachel.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Okay, are you ready for our next trend?
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, this one's uh yeah, I did this one so on purpose.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: The next one is called Rock, Paper, Scissors.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I really hope you haven't seen this one anywhere yet because I'm hoping it's just simple enough to trick the crap out of it.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I love playing rock, paper, scissors, but it can be frustrating because some of those people know how to just time a second behind.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, they there are those people cheaters.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: Matt cool.
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: What could this be?
- 9:29SPEAKER_03: Rock, paper, scissors.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Hee hee.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: I love this.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: Is it literally rock, paper, scissors?
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Is this another literal one?
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: I'm not telling you.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: You have to guess.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, where's the fun in that?
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: I feel like this is a new game.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Are kids now literally taking a rock, some paper and scissors, and going outside and throwing it at each other?
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: That is a at that rate.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: Anyone with paper would lose, even if it was a rock.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: You can try to stuff it.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: What like why is paper?
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Like, why?
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Because scissors cut paper.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: So paper loses and paper cut.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Paper covers rock, but I don't understand how that kills because rocks don't breathe.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: It's not like they're smothering.
- 10:05SPEAKER_03: None of the items breathe.
- 10:07SPEAKER_03: That's true, also.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: Rock, paper, or scissors.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: I could see this being kind of like a mind game, or if you're in the boardroom and everyone's throwing around an idea.
- 10:17SPEAKER_03: I feel like one could be the paper, one could be the rock, and one could be the scissors.
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: But I don't know, Jen.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: What is this?
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: Rock, paper, scissors.
- 10:27SPEAKER_03: I'm just gonna keep saying it over and over again.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: Rock, paper, scissors.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to think.
- 10:31SPEAKER_03: There is no way to make that game more creative unless you have a giant rock, a giant paper, and a giant scissors.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Is this a game show thing?
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: No.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: I although I did see some giant scissors this week.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the ribbon cutting.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the ribbon cutting, yeah.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: So I don't know.
- 10:49SPEAKER_03: I have no idea.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: I'm at a loss.
- 10:52SPEAKER_03: I feel weak minded for not coming up with anything.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: Let's see.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: You might have cut some of this out.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: I think this is good.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: This is good conversation.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Any so there's no other iterations that you can think of.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: Like I could think of like the Powder Puff girls.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: There's a that's three of them, right?
- 11:08SPEAKER_03: Sugar spice, everything nice.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: There's trying to think of triads here.
- 11:14SPEAKER_03: Rock, paper, scissors.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: Rock, paper, scissors, paper, rock.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: What about what if you just picture somebody playing rock, paper, scissors?
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: What can you think of any trend that could come of that?
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: I could see if like they're trying to choose between this person want to do something and this person wanted to do playing rock, paper, scissors.
- 11:34SPEAKER_03: I think I've heard of that in like marriage counseling suggestions.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Like you can't decide rock, paper, scissors for it, which is lovely and juvenile all at the same time.
- 11:47SPEAKER_03: I also feel like I would rather flip a coin because let fate completely have it.
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: I don't want my hands to get it at all.
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I'm guessing they could rock, paper, scissors, and oh, I I think I have seen something.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Tell me all about it.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: There's food on a plate, and let's say it's two people playing.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: So you play rock, paper, scissors, and whoever wins gets to eat a bite while the other person runs to the other end of the store, or we're at whatever length of run, and then they run back, and so the person there gets to eat as much food, which I'm not a fan of this trend.
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: I think it's like I think it's developing a poor relationship with food, but for people, but then whoever gets back, and they play rock, paper, scissors again, and then whoever wins still gets to stay there and eat, or the other person that won that just ran gets to eat as much food of it as they want.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I just don't think this would be well taken in places where they don't have very much food and they share.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: This is not, but that's the only thing I've seen rock, paper, scissors related online is like one of those little relay, rock, paper, scissors relays where they're eating food, and whoever wins gets to eat more food.
- 12:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's all I can think of.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: That is not the trend I'm talking about.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: But that is enlightening.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: That's what I have you not had any of those on your feed?
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: No, I haven't seen that one on my feed.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: I'd say I've seen this other one on my feed, but no, I haven't seen that one.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Are you ready for a reveal?
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: I guess so.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: I'm bummed that I'm sucking this week.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: You're not sucking.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: I just really found some tricky ones.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: I'm really excited about it.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: But this one is cool because I picked it also because it relates to the way that I can see it is relating to urban nails, and I can see it relating well for color therapy.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: It's services.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: So would you rather like for instance?
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: This one had a really funny one, but I guess okay.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: So paper at or whatever, one rock or scissors would be uh a gel fill at Urban Nails.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: And then scissors or whatever would be uh full acrylics, whatever, you know, or a design or so one's a manny, one's a petty, and one's like facial.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: Or something like that.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: Or there doesn't even need to be three.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: There's like this or that, basically.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, the whole idea of rock, paper, scissors is that there's three, Jen.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: I think I don't know how they fit the third hand in there to make it symmetrical.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Because you have one hand coming in this way and the other hand coming in this way in the visual, so it's like they're facing each other like this, that's and then labeled it over, labeled over it as the uh the service.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: The service that you're gonna get.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: So I guess if you can't choose something, you flip a coin.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: So I was close to the case.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you were yeah, you were getting really close.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: In fact, I feel like for each one you get a point, at least a point because you got really close.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: I wasn't relating it to services, I was just relating it to if you have a decision to make, then because it's I mean, a rock paper is banks or no banks.
- 14:42SPEAKER_03: It's two people fighting over what the decision is or trying to decide it, but the idea of them having three options is what makes the odds different.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: If it was 50-50, you both could shoot the same thing and you wouldn't win.
- 14:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but with there being three things, it changes it to where there's more, it's more, it's less likely that you're gonna draw the same thing.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, and here's another version, another iteration of that one.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: It's for the for hair services, go see Jen for a full color transformation, and then the scissors is box dye at 11 p.m.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: One's like the obvious answer, definite killing.
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: I could see that.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, there no, I think so.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: I see you getting one point each, so that's two out of four.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: You're being generous.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: I'm definitely not.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: You were close, you did so good.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it wasn't a perfect sore like you had been, but yeah, I had to break the streak somehow.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: You're right, you're right.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: The seasons are changing.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: The seasons are changing.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: We are well into October, my friends.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Would you do you have any scissor confessions that you would if you excuse me?
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: No.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: What did you just ask?
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: I know we both absolutely not.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: One time in Kansas City, actually.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Tell me more.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: What is your scissors' confession?
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Is this a new segment?
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: We've already heard that story.
- 16:02SPEAKER_03: I have no any confessions as far as that.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: No, not that really relate to the trend because that makes it sound worse.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: I love it so much.
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: Not really related to the trend because I usually impulsively order stuff.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: Or if I'm at a restaurant, it kind of relates.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: If I'm at a restaurant and I don't know which item to get that I've never had, I'll just ask the waiter or waitress.
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: I'll be like, I'm deciding between this and this.
- 16:29SPEAKER_03: And then I'll listen to what they think.
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: And then if they convince me with their face and what they say, yeah.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: With they're like, I usually get this, then I'll be like, okay, I'll get that.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: I literally saw this in action the other night at dinner with you and Sharika when we were doing the pizza night at Vora.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: I do it all the time.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: You did that, and I was like, oh, that's so smart.
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I did it yesterday too.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: Did you?
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: I did it yesterday with at dinner with my mom and Kayla.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: No.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: I was like, I've never had the fish and chips here, and I've never had the gumbo.
- 16:57SPEAKER_03: And I want to try something new, and I don't know what I'm in the mood for.
- 16:59SPEAKER_03: So honestly, pick my meal.
- 17:01SPEAKER_03: So that's kind of my rocks, paper, scissors situation.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: But I've never had I haven't ever done it where I'm dueling with someone.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: I think that I'm gonna implement this next time I'm deciding something with somebody.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: Definitely gonna be like, okay, because if we have three options, we can be like, okay, whatever the winning hand is, that's what we're gonna go do.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: I think mine was definitely my, I guess, weird confession for a decision that I've had to make in the last few days is I was trying to get my car fixed earlier last week, and it was between so there's a car shop right by work, right by my office, and it's a block away.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: But I knew my co-workers were going to lunch at Blackbird Burger, and there's the same and there's the same auto place a block from there.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: And I was like, what I'll do, since I know that my co-workers are going to lunch, is I'll take my car and drop it off, and then I'll just walk over to Blackbird and meet my co-workers there.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: But but then I was also, or I could take it to the one that's close to work and drop off my car and then ride to Blackburger, Blackbird Burger with my coworkers, and that would be really fun.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: And I spent so much time trying to make the decision that I ended up having to take it to the one next to Blackbird Burger.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: And then they said, we can't take your car today.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: So it was a waste of time.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: I see.
- 18:30SPEAKER_03: So what we learned here is call ahead.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: Don't rock paper scissors, make sure you just call ahead.
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:37SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 18:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:38SPEAKER_03: I guess.
- 18:39SPEAKER_03: If you didn't already, did you call ahead?
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: We called ahead to the other place that we're gonna take my car to now after my car spent the whole day at that car place.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: We've chosen another car.
- 18:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, you always call ahead because I know when I got stranded in western Kansas because my whole wheel almost flew off my vehicle.
- 18:58SPEAKER_03: At no fault of my own, I might back.
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: It's freaking scary.
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: I was I had to get towed, of course.
- 19:02SPEAKER_03: So that was like an hour or two-hour wait.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: And then I was waiting to get it done because it was just last minute.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: It was just the man of this little shop in western Kansas.
- 19:12SPEAKER_03: I was he had a whole shop filled, so I had to wait for six or seven hours.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: The man just had a sweetheart for stranded voice passengers or whatever stranded travelers on the road, especially me being a young woman.
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: He's so it was like, Yeah, I just waited for hours and hours and they all stayed late to fix it.
- 19:31SPEAKER_03: So thank goodness.
- 19:32SPEAKER_03: But if you go ahead and not do things last minute, dang, dang, do it.
- 19:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, for sure.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: Planning is good, it's good to have a plan.
- 19:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: And a plan B too.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: As far as logistics go, oh yeah.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: I feel like I usually talk that out with you.
- 19:45SPEAKER_03: You and I paper scissors it in our brain.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: That is so true.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: We do workshop a lot of things together, and that's that's I think that's really good for both of us.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: One, it's therapeutic and we get all the feelings out, and two, we come out with a rational decision that we can actually work with.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: So the only thing I'm really comfortable doing that for is food because I'm easy to please when it comes to foods.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: I'm not that picky.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: I feel like I'm just like, unless I specifically know I want at least one thing.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: No, that makes sense.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: What and that's funny because I am the opposite with food.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: I order these, I have my places that I go, and I order the exact same thing at every single place that we go.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: Hey, I order usually a range of three things at the same if it's one of my consistent places.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, maybe one or two.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: That's why I'm like, ooh, I really want to go here for that one thing that I know I love.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: But sometimes I get a little wild hair and I'm like, I've never had this.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the adventurous.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: Or if one of my friends orders it and then I'm like, wow, I didn't even realize because my brain didn't open up to the possibilities of this menu.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: I just always knew this is what I come here for.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: And then I'm surprisingly pleased.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: That's always a good thing.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:55SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 20:55SPEAKER_03: I like rock, paper, scissors if it's like burger-fried hair tops or nachos or something like that.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 21:02SPEAKER_03: I don't think that I'm willing to give rock, paper, scissors the power over anything other than my food at this point in my life.
- 21:07SPEAKER_03: Probably a good plan.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: Probably a good plan, yeah.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: So it's time to get to meet in of our conversation today.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: We've been doing some things.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: We've been getting around town.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: We've been seeing some people.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: So, so it was Friday night.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Why does that seem like a lifetime ago already?
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: It did.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: It yeah.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: So Friday night we went to see Ballet Wichita's Spirit Bride at Newman University.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: And wow.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: It was nice.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: I loved it.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: I was very well shocked.
- 21:46SPEAKER_03: I didn't know what to expect.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: I didn't either.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: I didn't know the storyline at all.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I like going in blind like that.
- 21:52SPEAKER_03: As always, they did a lovely interpretation of it.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: They really did.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: To where even doesn't know exactly what the storyline is beforehand, you still can really understand it.
- 22:03SPEAKER_03: And that's why I love it too, because it really makes your mind work in a different more.
- 22:07SPEAKER_03: Creative way.
- 22:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: So the costumes, she's they're gorgeous.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: I I loved the whole Dia De Low Smartos thing.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: That was really cool.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: Thought out as far as how they did the flowers and so yeah, you they open up and it was glow-in-the-dark head rose headbands or flap floral headbands in the dark, and super cool.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: I loved that.
- 22:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was really neat.
- 22:37SPEAKER_03: I think they did a great job with that.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: And then that little altar over on the side of the stage, too.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: So stage.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: Of course, you have to have an altar if you're doing Day of the Dead stuff or whatever.
- 22:48SPEAKER_03: I said it wrong.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Day of the Dead.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was gorgeous.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: It was absolutely gorgeous.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: I love I wish I would have taken more photos of that, but I just remember thinking it was so pretty.
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: And yeah, we were right in the front.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: And so I feel like they were kind of yeah, we're on the opposite side of where that fixture was.
- 23:06SPEAKER_03: I'm like, we don't, I don't know.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: With the ballet and everything, we try to be respectful and not take too many, especially during the midst of it.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: But yeah, they and plus they took really great content as well.
- 23:18SPEAKER_03: So true.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: So yeah, and I know that Hannah Crickman was official photographer for Ballet with Shutter that.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:24SPEAKER_04: So brava to her.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: Wonderful, always wonderful work on Hannah's part.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: She does a great job.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: So incredibly talented.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: Man, she's got a hell of an eye.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: I thought they wrapped the whole thing up really well together.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:38SPEAKER_03: I loved how the ending was like the beginning and it was like at an emotional moment.
- 23:43SPEAKER_03: I feel like they ended it perfectly timed.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:46SPEAKER_03: And I loved that she was at the end the haunting figure overhead.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, it was heartbreaking.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: It was absolutely heartbreaking.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: It was good.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: It was so good.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: There were so emo the facial emotions.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: And even like when sh the bride, the girl that was being wooed by the main guy, the main girl that was being wooed by the guy.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: Like when so she was so put together and flouncy around and happy at the beginning.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: And then she the she's given this bracelet.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: And then apparently the bracelet was cursed.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Is the way that I was interpreting that?
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: I was either it's cursed, or I think that she like Yeah, she must have cursed it.
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think it was battery bag.
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: Otherwise, I was like, I thought they accused her of stealing it or something and killed her.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: I don't know because I think they did just curse.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: I think it was cursed by I think it was the in those the elder I were they the elders.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: They gave it to her, very obviously, and then but it then it fell off, and when it fell off, that's when she just started going crazy.
- 24:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: She w started getting very emotional and not know what's going on.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: And then she was and her hair was like very visibly frazzled all of a sudden, and her mannerisms were like almost possessed, it seems like.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you're right.
- 25:07SPEAKER_03: I think it was it definitely was cursed.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: That's a better interpretation of it.
- 25:12SPEAKER_03: See, oops.
- 25:13SPEAKER_03: And then they stole her heart.
- 25:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:16SPEAKER_03: And she died.
- 25:17SPEAKER_03: She still had one in the afterlife because they still kept searching and dancing around each other.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, that was so beautiful.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: So they were the way they were able to move through each other too.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, it was haunting.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was nice.
- 25:29SPEAKER_03: I think they did a good interpretation of the haunting.
- 25:32SPEAKER_03: And it was really neat to see the pairs dance together when they did.
- 25:37SPEAKER_03: I always love it when you can find a good matchup and make that move with the music and everything.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: I think they did a really good job too, especially for having.
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 25:47SPEAKER_03: I always think about the music too, because it goes with their movement so well.
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: Who's making this music or do they find it beforehand and then go with it?
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: That's a really good question.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: I think I always thought about that.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: I know that's all Logan's kind of area.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: I and I know that this was okay.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Spirit Bride to know if this is something that they fully design themselves.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: But I also know that this is a spin-off of Giselle.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: So I don't know enough about either.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: They did well with the music and everything, and they all hit point.
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: But yeah, what you were saying with the facial expressions too.
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: All the other, what would you call them, brides?
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, all the other script the dead brides.
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: Their facial structure, because they had to just look like they didn't care.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: No emotion.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: Completely blank.
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: And I'm just thinking that would be so hard too because you're watching your fellow dancers dance.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: You want to watch them, but they all just had to look like RBFs, like the whole time.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: The whole time.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: And with the makeup.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: And at first, too, like the movement.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: The first, the main spirit bride had to wear that mask first before she had taken it off.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: And oh my gosh, could you imagine doing all that and breathing?
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 27:03SPEAKER_03: And that's like I could all because we were like in the front of the room.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: I could hear her breathing.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: And I was like, girl, which honestly almost helped.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: It made it more haunting.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: I don't know if they did that intentionally or not, but it almost made it more haunting to watch her move around.
- 27:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, Vader, come on.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:21SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was really good.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: I enjoyed it as always.
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: I thought it was really well done.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: It was wonderful.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: The whole team, the whole cast, beautiful.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: The whole crew of the set was even haunting.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: Like the lighting was nice.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: The lighting was great.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: The setting was just yeah, so haunting.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you guys have seen the reel that we put out there, but definitely take a look.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: And I'll make sure to post some more pictures as well after this, after this episode goes live, so you get you guys and see.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: You do not want to miss this in the future.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: And also, by the way, Nutcracker is coming up.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: So get yourself get your little fingers ready to start buying some tickets because you're not gonna want to miss Nutcracker.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: No.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: If you miss Spirit Bride, I'm so sorry, but don't miss Nutcracker because it's gonna be amazing.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: I do love that they do a full one though, because like this brought back memories from Dracula last year.
- 28:17SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 28:18SPEAKER_03: I think that's why it's nostalgic.
- 28:20SPEAKER_03: Is it crazy?
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: It was this time of year last we were going to that, right?
- 28:24SPEAKER_03: I can't believe that it's already a year ago.
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: We were newbies.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: That was our first, that was like our first intro into the whole Ballet Witch Toss thing.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: So much fun.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: And now look at us.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: We're all friends.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: And we had so much fun.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: So after curtain, we a lot of us met up at Goldfinch for a fun little after-the-curtain meetup, which is a lot of fun to just sit around and hang out.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: Things yeah, seeing them looking to give a speech and all that, and some of the dancers show up to that too, which is really nice to get to tell them how wonderful they did and just revel in it all because it's so magical.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was a fun evening.
- 29:05SPEAKER_03: I it seemed like everyone was really pleased with how it went, too.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: Yes, for sure.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: I think what a good warm-up into the other holidays.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't want to start thinking to Christmas yet, but everywhere I go, there's a hallway of Halloween, and there's way more Christmas stuff.
- 29:22SPEAKER_03: I'm like, can we give Halloween a minute?
- 29:24SPEAKER_03: Can we give Halloween a little bit more gumption?
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: But they've gone so heavy on Christmas, and I'm like, don't be doing that.
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: And poor Thanksgiving just gets skipped.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: Well, and I don't know.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: I'm a thing, I love Thanksgiving.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: It's not my favorite holiday, but I definitely love it.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: I do love it.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: I leave up my Halloween stuff throughout it.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: I don't think that's a bad thing.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: And then I'll put Christmas up like end of no and December, all through February.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: I know we definitely did that.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: In fact, last year we left the Chiefs tree up the whole entire year.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: I guess I could get away with it a little bit easier, Jen, because I don't have a tree.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, and I don't have like a market for a new one.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: I mostly just do garland and lights and stuff like that.
- 30:10SPEAKER_03: I used to do stockings and things like that, but now it's just me.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: I don't have any of that other stuff.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: I mostly just want all the lights and the garland.
- 30:17SPEAKER_03: And that to me, garland and lights is winter-y, so it can be out all winter.
- 30:20SPEAKER_03: That's so true.
- 30:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that is so true.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: And chiefs are until February.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'll give you that.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: I'll give you that.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: But before we get into Christmas on this podcast, we have a right.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: That was a Christmas tangent.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: It's coming.
- 30:37SPEAKER_03: Involved the markets doing this to my brain.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: It's being shoved down in my throat and my face.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: Everywhere we go.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: Not everywhere, but a lot of places.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: I've already been to Holiday Galleria, which is a whole holiday thingy.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's here.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: Whether we like it or not, once October hits, everyone just goes a little bit crazy.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: I want a Halloween gallery.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I do too.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: I think that would be so much fun.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Let's talk to the Junior League.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: See if they'll do that.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: I would love that.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: They'd probably be like, hard no.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: So Urban or Urban Nails.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: Urban Nails.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: This was a whirlwind.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: So I was hired by Urban Nails, by Na at Urban Nails to help her do a few logistics for her event.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Just to kind of take some things off her plate.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, she was not going to have this event.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: Tell this lady.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: She's got to celebrate herself.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: She deserves it.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: She's worked so hard for seven years, and now she's built this two beautiful nail salons.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: And she has a beautiful staff and every a great community.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: And then so she hired me to do some event logistics for her as well as content creation and some social media marketing to promote her event.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: And we blew it out of the water.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: It was so much fun.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: There was a ribbon cutting on Friday.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: There were tours and raffles and snacks and a coffee pop-up by Coffee Days.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: Oh, I also got to give a shout-out to Boun to Brew.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: Macy at Boun to Brew on Friday came out with her beautiful little coffee pop-up and her delicious cinnamon roll pumpkin coffee.
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: That was amazing.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Sounds good.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: Holy moly, it was delicious.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: It tasted like a holiday in a cup.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: I told her probably too many times.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: And then Coffee Days was out there on Saturday and delicious.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: They they still had a lavender matcha.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: So I was you know we love that lavender matcha.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: And so I had on Saturday, I had so Vu events has hired me to do content creation for them.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: And so I had been at a wedding early Saturday morning.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: Busy lady.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: And drove out to Andover to hang out at Urban Nails for a while to grab content and get some posts out and everything.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: And got my lavender matcha to go back to the wedding and do more content for Javon and her crew.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, coffee days.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: It's down the street from this house.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: And I'm now that I'm out on my own, I yeah, I go there probably two or three times a week.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: I thought you were gonna say a day.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: I was very tempting because it's right there.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: I swear, between larchers and coffee days, you better get you a punch card.
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: And then Greater Grounds is really close to the office at ICTSOS.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: So that's great.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: You get to switch it up with the local.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like that.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: And then Sunday, yesterday was the big great.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: That was yesterday.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: It was yesterday.
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: So we're talking uh bouquet bar, yeah, mimosa bar.
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: She had this beautiful food spread, it was delicious.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: Cookies by 145 Cookies, dragon dancers from All Saints.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: All dressed up with big old heads and stuff.
- 33:45SPEAKER_03: Incredible.
- 33:45SPEAKER_03: It was so fun, it was so much fun.
- 33:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:49SPEAKER_03: I showed up with my sister-in-law Kayla right before you guys popped the champagne, whipped it right up in the front parking spot.
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and right before you popped it, and then they all started dancing and doing their music.
- 34:01SPEAKER_03: And I was like, not expecting this, Jen.
- 34:04SPEAKER_03: Jen told me.
- 34:05SPEAKER_03: I told her she might you might want to show up earlier.
- 34:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:08SPEAKER_03: Now I see why.
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: Because I was like, what the?
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: You started with a bang, okay?
- 34:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you did.
- 34:13SPEAKER_03: A big bang.
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: They did it.
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: The performance went on for quite a while.
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: It was nice and it was really traditional.
- 34:18SPEAKER_03: I feel like it was wishing them good wishes and good luck.
- 34:20SPEAKER_03: They've had the dragon's lettuce and laid it at the door and all of that.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: It was so cool.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: I'm guessing lettuce represents money.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: I don't quote me.
- 34:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, maybe it just makes sense.
- 34:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: Beat the dragon all your money.
- 34:32SPEAKER_03: That's what yeah, it was fun.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: The dragon costumes were so cute.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: Whoever this group is definitely should get more gigs.
- 34:40SPEAKER_03: I'll say it.
- 34:40SPEAKER_03: So they definitely dragon and lion dancing.
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: They definitely need more gigs around town.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: They were so fun, yeah, and so lively.
- 34:46SPEAKER_03: And they were like jumping on each other's backs, and the dragons would stand up.
- 34:51SPEAKER_03: That's so cool.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was really cool.
- 34:54SPEAKER_03: And her salon is beautiful.
- 34:56SPEAKER_03: It is stunning.
- 34:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it just kept going too.
- 34:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:59SPEAKER_03: And it's very clean.
- 35:01SPEAKER_03: It's very like they keep it spotless.
- 35:04SPEAKER_03: It's so nice.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: Spotless.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: The chairs just to get your nails in are nice, but the chairs that you get your pedicures done in are really nice.
- 35:11SPEAKER_03: They're top notch.
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: They are top notch.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: And like you can tell their brand's banking new.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: So okay, let's help keep this place open.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Well, that's where I'm making my next appointment.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: Nah definitely did a thing.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: Like she, oh my gosh, the place is stunning.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: And her staff is oh, they're just all wonderful, wonderful supportive people.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: And it was great to see the community come out and support her.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: And yesterday it was funny to sit some o sip some sip samosas.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: Sip mamosas.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: We were doing something.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: Sipping some things.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: Sip mamosas and do flower bouquets.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I built a little flower bouquet.
- 35:53SPEAKER_03: Keila and I both got one and it's in water and it's doing great now.
- 35:58SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I think that's a really sweet idea.
- 36:00SPEAKER_03: That's a really sweet idea.
- 36:01SPEAKER_03: I loved the flower bouquet bar.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was a lot of fun.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: That was so fun.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: And it's funny because I had told you right before you left.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: Well, I think she's she might go home with a few flowers.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: And then right after you left, she's hey, I have more flowers in the back.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Do you mind refilling them?
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh my gosh, absolutely.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: That I literally refilled the whole.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: When I left yesterday afternoon, the bar the flower bar was like I would have known that.
- 36:27SPEAKER_03: Oh, she had so many more flowers.
- 36:29unknown: Yeah.
- 36:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 36:33SPEAKER_03: Because I'm like, free flowers, what?
- 36:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:35SPEAKER_03: But no, I just grabbed a few little items and made a little cute bouquet.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: And it looks nice.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: I like it.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: I didn't even think I should have done that before.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: I didn't, I was you didn't even bring you one.
- 36:44SPEAKER_00: Didn't even think to do it.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: I had I did have a couple of mimosas, but I didn't even think to make myself a cute little bouquet.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: I wish I was like, we're busy working, girl.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: I was oh my gosh.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: It was so much fun creating content though.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: And then I delivered all of her content to her today in a big, fat, ginormous Google folder.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: Oh good.
- 37:03SPEAKER_00: So excited to see what she decides to use that for in the future.
- 37:07SPEAKER_00: But it was so much fun to tie that up with a nice little bow.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: And now it's behind us.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: And now she and I are gonna get together and just go celebrate at larchers with memosas.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: That'll be nice.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:19SPEAKER_00: So we're working on a date for that.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: That'll be soon.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: But I just I don't know.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: Uh watching her community just surround her and it was a huge showing.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: It was a huge showing.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: And not only that, it was like that on Friday.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: It was pretty, it was amazing on Saturday.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: The vibe was incredible on Saturday, too.
- 37:39SPEAKER_00: And on Sunday.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: And Sunday, holy cow.
- 37:41SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you what, she knows how to party.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: She knows how to she knows how to freaking get it going.
- 37:48SPEAKER_03: She really does.
- 37:49SPEAKER_03: And what I love her outfit.
- 37:50SPEAKER_03: She's a class lady.
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: It was nice to meet her.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: She saw me and she said hi to me before I she must have recognized me or something.
- 37:59SPEAKER_00: Probably from the podcast and all the photos here all over my social media.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: Same.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: And she I know that you and I went in there for my wedding nails too before my wedding.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: Did you go with me on that time or was it a different time?
- 38:12SPEAKER_03: I think I went we went together to a different salon.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: I remember that.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: I was like, I know for sure I got my wedding nails.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I thought you were.
- 38:27SPEAKER_03: So maybe she recognized me from there too.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:30SPEAKER_00: It's a good possibility.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, tell me about it.
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: So wow, yeah, we've been doing the things.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:38SPEAKER_03: And then Sunday after that, Kayla and I left.
- 38:40SPEAKER_03: We dropped stuff off at Goodwill.
- 38:42SPEAKER_03: We're preparing the house for the baby.
- 38:44SPEAKER_03: So, like the office seems cleared out because my mom's gonna come stay for a couple weeks or a week or two.
- 38:49SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 38:49SPEAKER_03: We'll see whatever works out.
- 38:51SPEAKER_03: And so we needed to get that space cleared out.
- 38:54SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna slowly and surely work on that.
- 38:56SPEAKER_03: Seems like we're gonna need to work on it a little quicker.
- 38:58SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's right.
- 39:00SPEAKER_03: But uh yeah, so that's exciting.
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: And then we went to dinner with her, and we were gonna go to the Cheesecake Factory, right?
- 39:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's right.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: I remember you mentioning that.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: So they're not taking reservations, and so you just have to walk in and wait for four hours.
- 39:17SPEAKER_03: And it's I you can just tell that the hostess is there are you so used to that because they their smile and their face, and they just already are gonna say what they're gonna say when you walk in.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, but we're like, okay, no, we're not waiting too much.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: So they're perpetually the bearers of bad news.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, that's gonna be draining.
- 39:34SPEAKER_03: Poor souls.
- 39:35SPEAKER_03: I gotta like I just want to make a button at that point.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: Like says all people must wait two hours, like at least.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: So that's crazy.
- 39:46SPEAKER_03: Oh my goodness, it was still great, it was delicious, and then we all chatted on the back porch for a while, and it was a good night.
- 39:51SPEAKER_03: Nice, it's good.
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: Sounds like it was a good visit with your mother.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: Yes, it was with my Aunt Jemothy, and so that was good.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: And then now we're back onto the work week and we're trucking along.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, this week's gonna just fly on by, too.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so like so you you are you're preparing a house for a bebe.
- 40:13SPEAKER_03: I mean, I say I am, but I'm the aunt.
- 40:16SPEAKER_03: So just so you guys know, it's not mine.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: I just am excited.
- 40:20SPEAKER_00: I'm excited for you.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: So how are the vibes at home?
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: Good, good, nothing bad to report.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: Really, no.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: Are you all excited or anxious or I think we're all excited?
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, there's nothing bad to report.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: I think we're just like, No, oh, it might be sooner.
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: It might be sooner.
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: We better nest a little harder.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: Um Kayla's been nesting and everything like crazy and doing an excellent job.
- 40:46SPEAKER_03: She's a badass.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: Like, honestly, yeah.
- 40:48SPEAKER_03: Out of like, I'm like her and Hannah both.
- 40:52SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm just like, okay, maybe I don't know if y'all just got lucky or like or like I'm just hoping that the after is the same positive vibes, and I really feel like it will be.
- 41:04SPEAKER_03: I think that we have a very relaxed way of like being and keeping our energy in our home.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: Like, I really don't see anything crazy happening, but you never know.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: We always like to just we're just like we're gonna do what we can do.
- 41:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, such a relaxed vibe at your house.
- 41:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I love it.
- 41:21SPEAKER_03: I love that Gail's so strong and so awesome.
- 41:24SPEAKER_03: She might not agree with me, but she is.
- 41:27SPEAKER_03: She really is.
- 41:28SPEAKER_03: She's a badass, and she's just I can't believe she just cooked a baby that quick.
- 41:32SPEAKER_03: Like I know, boom, it's done.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: I should give my brother some credit too here, but he's not carrying her.
- 41:37SPEAKER_03: I love you, bro.
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: But I don't know, it's gonna be interesting to see how we watch Brother and Kayla evolve as parents.
- 41:45SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be really oh I know, no, and it's gonna be really neat too to see how I get to interact with her.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: And like I think it's and I'm just picturing future girl nights like with her Kayla and I, baby, even when she's a little older too, like doing hair and watching chick flicks.
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: And so, what kind of aunt are you gonna be?
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: Are there categories?
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: Fun aunt, crazy aunt, silly aunt.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna be everything when I need to be.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: I feel like you're gonna be incredibly nurturing and grounding.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: I'm also but also fun.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna put up with anything if they do anything stupid, like that's when they're older, of course.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: With babies, I'm gonna be like, oh, how can I help?
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: But I don't know, maybe Kayla won't want to give her up.
- 42:32SPEAKER_03: So but I'm also one that's like usually with babies.
- 42:36SPEAKER_03: I'm not like, oh, I love babies.
- 42:38SPEAKER_03: Of course, I don't not like babies.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: That would be a crazy thing to say.
- 42:43SPEAKER_03: But it's the first baby of my own blood that I'm gonna see.
- 42:47SPEAKER_03: So excited.
- 42:48SPEAKER_03: I'm like, wow, I probably will be like, come here, you're my family.
- 42:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, get in my arms.
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: I feel like it'll be, I feel like it'll be really good.
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: I think it will too.
- 42:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm so excited for all of you.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: Just always sending, I'm just hoping everything goes very smoothly, all of that.
- 43:05SPEAKER_03: But it seems like everyone's super on top of it.
- 43:08SPEAKER_03: So yeah, yeah.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: I don't want to like spread her story.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: I feel like I might no, but she was just absolutely glowing yesterday.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: And it was so good to see her.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm just really excited for you.
- 43:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we'll see.
- 43:22SPEAKER_02: She's on her way.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: Cheers to Gemma.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: Cheers.
- 43:25SPEAKER_00: She comes.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: So I don't know if I've talked about this on the podcast yet, but my lovely bonus daughter Josie has asked me to be mother of the bride, which is something that I never thought I'd be since I'm a boy mom.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: But this weekend coming up, we're gonna go wedding dress shopping in Oklahoma City.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: So I'm scooping up Brenda, my mother-in-law, and we're gonna drive down to Oklahoma City and just spend some time with Josie and her friend Scout and go dress shopping.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: And I'm just, oh my gosh, it's gonna be so much fun.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: I just I can't wait.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: I'm so freaking honored too.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: It's just been like it's bananas to me.
- 44:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think it'll be awesome.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: I think that's great.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: You get the bonus of that too, because you don't have girls of your own.
- 44:15SPEAKER_03: But they you guys have a great relationship.
- 44:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: It's really that's really awesome.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: That you guys are gonna have a fun girls weekend.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: I'm really looking forward to that.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: And it's nostalgic a little bit too.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: It just wasn't that long ago that we were doing that.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: And it was it's wild to me.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: And it's I'm just so excited to see her and see what her vision for it.
- 44:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I want to see her vision and her favorite dress.
- 44:39SPEAKER_00: And I know she's gonna look amazing in anything that she chooses.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: She's Josie.
- 44:44SPEAKER_00: She's beautiful.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I cannot wait to see what her dream dress looks like.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: And it's wild to be back in wedding planning mode.
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: I gotta say that for sure.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you got it across the board too.
- 44:56SPEAKER_03: Not only are you, yeah, you you've got it all across the board, you're getting to see a lot of that now.
- 45:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but this one's so personal, so timing for you to enter that mind.
- 45:04SPEAKER_03: I know, yeah, I know.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know that literally events are my life now.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: I do a little social media on the side for Walnut River Brewing, but now my life is events, it's bananas.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: I do love it, it's a lot of work, it's a lot of work, and it's very exhausting work, but it's so much fun.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: I am having the time of my life.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: Yay! Yay! And I I uh launched my first event for ICTSOS last week.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: So I'm really excited about that.
- 45:35SPEAKER_02: Love that.
- 45:36SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited, and yeah, we're all full force.
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: My everything is just kind of ironing itself out.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: So we have one more segment.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: Oh boy, and I almost forgot about it because we were getting so far into like just everything else.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: So we can't forget our hits different segment.
- 45:53SPEAKER_00: This is a segment that we only have when it's just the two of us on the podcast, where I assign a Taylor Swift song to Taylor, to Rachel.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: I thought you were gonna call me Tim.
- 46:05SPEAKER_00: Oh to May.
- 46:07SPEAKER_00: Where's my brain today?
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: I assign a kind of a theme, a themed-ish type of song that relates back to our episode or the time of year that we're at to Rachel.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: She's never heard it before, so she listens to it, and then we just chit-chat about it.
- 46:22SPEAKER_00: This week's song was Willow from the Evermore album by Taylor Swift.
- 46:28SPEAKER_00: And I am dying to hear what you think about Willow.
- 46:34SPEAKER_03: It's my first time hearing it today.
- 46:37SPEAKER_03: And you're not gonna like this.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: I had a feeling this was coming because I think I already know what you're gonna say.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: It sounds toxic.
- 46:51SPEAKER_03: It sounds like I get the heart throb even when it's not right situation.
- 46:59SPEAKER_03: I first of all, positive note, I do love the comparison of a willow tree and its waving branches to A, the change in seasons, B, the wispiness of whatever love you're in.
- 47:13SPEAKER_03: I like that comparison and I like that little metaphor or whatever that she used, but I him just like, oh Taylor, don't do it.
- 47:21SPEAKER_03: Every time I'm listening to the song, I was like, oh, the more he says, the less you know.
- 47:27SPEAKER_03: That's not good.
- 47:28SPEAKER_03: Oh, I know, that's not good.
- 47:29SPEAKER_03: That's not good.
- 47:30SPEAKER_03: But she sings it so sweet.
- 47:32SPEAKER_03: So you're like, oh yeah, that is so good.
- 47:36SPEAKER_03: But no, I'm over here.
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: Red flag, red flag in my head, but which is gives it, it makes me hurt a little bit, nostalgically hurt because I'm like, girl, I've been there, don't do it.
- 47:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, don't I can see that you don't want something broken that you have to fix.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: We're too old for that.
- 47:57SPEAKER_03: No, get your shit together, go find you a willow tree that's nice and well established, okay?
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: Has things figured out for itself, maybe has a nice rope swing hanging from it and stuff, a little birdhouse in it, something comfortable.
- 48:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you don't want one of those willow trees that's in crummy ground that's just gonna lose branches that whip you in the face on their way down.
- 48:22SPEAKER_03: That's what her that song sounds like.
- 48:25SPEAKER_03: It's doing to her.
- 48:27SPEAKER_02: So that's my feedback.
- 48:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I like I think that's awesome.
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: It was a good song.
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: I know it's a good song.
- 48:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it just made me cringe for her a little bit.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 48:40SPEAKER_00: She is such a lyricist, she really is, and it's funny because before I get into what the song means to me, I want to talk about what the song means to me.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: So I this album is probably the one that I listen to the least.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: I know a lot of people there are a lot of diehard evermore people out there that really like that vibe, and I love the vibe and everything.
- 49:07SPEAKER_00: It's just that the album came out directly after folklore, like months after folklore.
- 49:13SPEAKER_00: So they're sister albums, and they're both very folksy, and I I like them.
- 49:19SPEAKER_00: I love them.
- 49:20SPEAKER_00: I love all the songs of them, but it's it I'm more of a upbeat, let's more kind of a are you ready for it kind of queen.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm more or any anti-hero or those kinds of things.
- 49:32SPEAKER_00: I like midnights and I like reputation more of that kind of and life of a showgirl.
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: I like those biases.
- 49:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Alexa's listening.
- 49:43SPEAKER_00: So it's talking to you.
- 49:45SPEAKER_00: But what but when Willow really started to grow on me was when it was popping up during the Aerosaur on my TikTok all the time, and then and the choreography, so they dance around with these big yeah, these uh ginormous glowing orbs, and they're in these cloaked witchy outfits.
- 50:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, so that's why you sort of spooky, because to be honest, it doesn't like it's not spooky.
- 50:09SPEAKER_03: No, no, the only thing spooky is gonna be that this man's gonna haunt you for the rest of your life.
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: Yes, it's almost like I know, but then here's the other thing it's what she was experiencing was instead of it being a him talking down to her, it's a more the more that he shows her, the less she realizes about herself because she expected herself to like something else and she's actually liking more of what he's got going on.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: So the more that he says, the less she realizes about, the more she's kind of doubting her taste.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: She's like, oh, maybe I kind of do kind of dig this.
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: If I think it's if I think I have you correctly, what I did get from that too is you do throughout this song realize that she's like, Oh, I'm realizing that my taste in choosing you is bad in that specific maybe not bad, but just unexpected.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: Like, oh, I didn't expect this.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: Here's the way I see it now's trauma.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: But here's the thing I remember insisting, like when Travis Kulce had a crush on her and was gonna take her on a date.
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: I remember being like, she is never this is not gonna happen.
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: This has to be like she's not gonna like it.
- 51:24SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 51:25SPEAKER_03: Her first song was like he's a football player, and I'm exactly a teacher.
- 51:29SPEAKER_00: She blew me out of the water.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: I love this, and I love that she's so freaking happy.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: But I remember four years ago me being like he can shoot his shot, but she's way better than that.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: And I love Travis Khelps.
- 51:41SPEAKER_00: I have nothing against the guy, I think he's a great football player.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: But now I know more about her.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this is long before.
- 51:48SPEAKER_03: This is long before that.
- 51:50SPEAKER_03: I could see it going both ways, so I do agree with that for sure.
- 51:53SPEAKER_03: But I also was like, I felt like it could have gone either way with it.
- 51:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, she that is because especially because how she ended it with that is my man, which I do love that line.
- 52:03SPEAKER_03: I love being like, That's my man.
- 52:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like I want that one day.
- 52:07SPEAKER_03: I want to be like, That's but I don't want to have any of the dowdy stuff before us.
- 52:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I totally get that.
- 52:12SPEAKER_03: I think you could see the transformation either way, whatever realization it is that she's having.
- 52:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it could be like, Oh, that is my man, and I should probably not be, or it could be, oh, that is my man expect it.
- 52:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I could see both ways playing out, and I that's exactly why she's Elizabeth is because it relates to everybody.
- 52:33SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 52:34SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 52:35SPEAKER_00: Like, where are you?
- 52:36SPEAKER_00: Like where yes, that's that's you said it exactly there.
- 52:39SPEAKER_00: It doesn't like wherever you are in that journey, you can take it whatever way.
- 52:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's the beauty of her lyrics.
- 52:47SPEAKER_00: I feel like it's literally like a masterpiece situation.
- 52:50SPEAKER_03: You can take it however you want, yeah, and in a wherever you're at in life, too, or whatever you've experienced is gonna allow you to not listen to certain lines, but focus on the line.
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, for sure, definitely.
- 53:00SPEAKER_00: Or just focus on the choreography like I do.
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: But it is important.
- 53:04SPEAKER_03: On certain songs like this, though, like you can't sorry to go off topic here a little bit, but like you can't do that too much with songs because imagine if I were to send this to the man I'm seeing as a romantic song because it says that's my man, but like all this other all the other meat to it, bad things that he could hear and be like, wait, what that's not good.
- 53:26SPEAKER_03: Or okay, even better example, did you ever see what song was it?
- 53:31SPEAKER_03: This it was for a father-daughter dance at a wedding, and it was like it was a song that was like sexual, but like the but that wasn't they didn't realize because it was just a fun upbeat hip-hop song.
- 53:45SPEAKER_03: Oh no, and they did father-daughter dance to it at her wedding.
- 53:49SPEAKER_02: I wish I could remember the song right now.
- 53:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I'm with y'all on that.
- 53:53SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 53:53SPEAKER_02: And it was like and everybody was looking at each other, like we have to stop this, but you can't because they choreographed the whole freaking dance.
- 54:01SPEAKER_03: So you just had to sit back and be like, okay, whatever.
- 54:05SPEAKER_03: Meaning is what you make it, but let's not read too much into this.
- 54:08SPEAKER_03: True.
- 54:09SPEAKER_03: I'm like, oh, but anyways, that's just an example of how people can perceive music differently.
- 54:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:16SPEAKER_03: Let's hope that one did perceive it.
- 54:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 54:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 54:25SPEAKER_00: Where does the song land for you personally?
- 54:27SPEAKER_00: Any chapter of your life that it reminds you of?
- 54:32SPEAKER_00: No matter how you think of it.
- 54:35SPEAKER_03: Oh it kind of blurs together a few of my romantic relationships for me.
- 54:44SPEAKER_03: So I can't really pinpoint a specific one, but it kind of just gave me more love bommy vibes, which has happened to me.
- 54:55SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 54:55SPEAKER_03: I've been involved in that scenario a couple times.
- 54:59SPEAKER_03: So I feel as though those ideas kind of just blended together for me.
- 55:04SPEAKER_03: As far as a specific time, I couldn't say, but that's I think maybe why I hit the transformation in her tone and in the transition of it too.
- 55:13SPEAKER_03: There were points where I would be like, this is happening, and boom, that let me turn that switch on in my brain to recognize that.
- 55:20SPEAKER_03: And then boom, but I still love him, and that's my man.
- 55:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 55:25SPEAKER_03: The Maury says there's a lot of big talk that I've witnessed.
- 55:28SPEAKER_00: And she does talk about bait and switch being a work of art, too.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: There is that.
- 55:33SPEAKER_00: So there is a little manipulation there.
- 55:35SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 55:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:36SPEAKER_03: So definitely I'd say the one with all the kids and the big talk and romance and love and all that, and then the bait and switch, which happened real quick.
- 55:46SPEAKER_03: And then before that, I feel as though there's not a specific time it reminds me of, though.
- 55:51SPEAKER_03: I don't yeah, I don't know.
- 55:53SPEAKER_03: I've had a few, but it definitely just gave me warning flags related to all of those experiences of bait and switch.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: Bait and switch, or like a I hate that love bomb is overused now because there definitely is a good place to use it and a bad place to use it.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: Oh, for sure.
- 56:07SPEAKER_03: But love bomb, bait and switch is ideally the same thing, right?
- 56:11SPEAKER_03: How much a differentiation?
- 56:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, no, I think a love bomb is definitely a bait and switch for sure.
- 56:16SPEAKER_03: That's a great bomb's the bait.
- 56:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the switch is the after for sure.
- 56:22SPEAKER_03: Fuck, I've been there for sure.
- 56:24SPEAKER_03: And I've just witnessed it with one of my best friends, so I think that's where I'm relating it too closely is that I've seen, yeah, one of my beloved best friends going through that.
- 56:36SPEAKER_03: And not Jen.
- 56:38SPEAKER_03: No other but I'm just like, oh god, there goes that again.
- 56:43SPEAKER_00: Like not cool.
- 56:45SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, for me, like oh a long time ago.
- 56:51SPEAKER_00: I think it would be the guy that the guy that I was dating right before my ex-husband was very like definitely gave this.
- 56:59SPEAKER_00: Your face said that he definitely gave this looking back on it.
- 57:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there was a lot of love bombing and then a lot of oh, just cringe activity.
- 57:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I guess I'd like because yeah, because she said after all the cheating and stuff, she even mentioned that at one point.
- 57:16SPEAKER_03: Like, how the hell would you ever love somebody after they cheated on you, at least to that certain extent?
- 57:20SPEAKER_03: I understand that there's a different situation for everybody, whatever.
- 57:23SPEAKER_03: But no excuses here.
- 57:25SPEAKER_03: But what I think I want to focus on more about that, because I don't want to dwindle Taylor's song into such a negative thought.
- 57:33SPEAKER_03: But the reason that it's art is because it makes us feel something, because it does bring us back to our past experiences and experiences that we know of.
- 57:39SPEAKER_00: But are things that we may have completely forgotten about, maybe buried in there and it brings it out.
- 57:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's true too.
- 57:46SPEAKER_03: Good point.
- 57:47SPEAKER_03: But I feel whenever I think of those changes that have happened or those moments of transition that I've gone through with my thought process about how I feel about a certain relationship or time frame of relationship.
- 58:00SPEAKER_03: I now, anyways, then it was much more painful now.
- 58:03SPEAKER_03: I feel the little magic about it.
- 58:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 58:05SPEAKER_03: As as weird as that might sound, I feel as though it's like I have so much knowledge, and knowledge is power.
- 58:15SPEAKER_03: Although it was able to get that knowledge, I do still feel like I wouldn't be here today if I hadn't gone through all that or witnessed all that.
- 58:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 58:23SPEAKER_03: And I wouldn't be able to hear the song I hear it now.
- 58:26SPEAKER_03: But the way I hear it.
- 58:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 58:28SPEAKER_03: Also, it I think that those painful moments bring you closer to the people that are close in your life.
- 58:33SPEAKER_03: Like you and I, we both know every experience that we're talking about.
- 58:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 58:36SPEAKER_03: Even if we're vague or not.
- 58:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 58:39SPEAKER_03: And that's that also is it's a weird mile marker.
- 58:43SPEAKER_03: We shouldn't have had to have it, but I also think it's good that we did.
- 58:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, in a way.
- 58:48SPEAKER_03: And I think that's like the good feeling that Taylor brings out in her lyrics when she does sing about stuff this way.
- 58:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 58:53SPEAKER_03: And I think that's really cool.
- 58:55SPEAKER_03: Because I would be probably the like back in like middle school or high school.
- 59:00SPEAKER_03: I'd probably be like the depressing poem writer.
- 59:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, like box girl, emotional girls, or whatever.
- 59:05SPEAKER_02: Versus she's over here making it is all pretty and stuff.
- 59:08SPEAKER_00: I know, but then like sometimes the words are just like if you actually look back at look, take a look back at them, you're like, oh, it's not what I expected that song to be.
- 59:18SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I just wanted to focus that a little bit on.
- 59:21SPEAKER_03: I think there's a really good side.
- 59:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 59:24SPEAKER_00: There I feel like there always is.
- 59:25SPEAKER_00: You have to appreciate the art behind it.
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: And I do feel like, okay, you asked about seasons.
- 59:29SPEAKER_00: Do you know how many breakups I've had around the fall time when the seasons change?
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: Let's talk this.
- 59:35SPEAKER_00: Let's talk this through.
- 59:37SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 59:37SPEAKER_02: Do you remember when I got broken up with the five years?
- 59:39SPEAKER_00: Yes, I do, because I remember I was down at the ostrich farm when that happened.
- 59:43SPEAKER_00: On Facebook.
- 59:44SPEAKER_00: Because I had been trying to text you and you were not answering me.
- 59:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: Because it shut off my phone.
- 59:52unknown: Yeah.
- 59:52SPEAKER_02: I had no idea.
- 59:54SPEAKER_02: It did.
- 59:55SPEAKER_02: What?
- 59:56SPEAKER_02: I was totally befuddled.
- 59:58SPEAKER_02: My family couldn't get a hold of me.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_02: I was like, dude, on Thanksgiving.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_02: Like on having a lot of time.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_02: On Thanksgiving.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_00: This is why the podcast is called So This Happens.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: Why would you what?
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_03: My family's trying to reach out to me.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_03: So not only do I already have to go to my family event without my boyfriend at the time of years, but You don't have a way to communicate with them.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_03: I also have to explain to them why I haven't been communicating with them, which the reason is because he's a big I guess is breaking up with me because all he did was shut off my phone.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_02: Crazy.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_02: Insane.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_02: So not adult.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_02: Dude.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_02: Are you kidding me?
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_02: Terrible.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_02: That was a weird Thanksgiving.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_02: That was a weird Thanksgiving.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_02: And yeah.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_03: That was weird.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_03: And then the whole thought of stuff transpired after that.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_03: Like, I ended up drinking and playing ping pong with my cousins and tearing up a bit.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_03: Oh and then everyone was like, where's your main friend?
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_03: And I was like, I don't know.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, I have another Taylor's one for that.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_03: But then, oh yeah, that was the whole thing.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_03: And then so then my friend, best friend of the time, started staying with me.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_03: And then she started hooking up with my brother.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_03: And then that was all.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_03: Which was fine.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_03: I was like, whatever.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_03: Because I'm a good friend.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_03: Just throwing that out there.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_03: You might want to.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_03: We know that I know you're a good friend.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_03: But, anyways, a lot of stuff happened.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_03: And then I had to go get a new phone with my dad at the time because I was down on my luck at that point.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_03: And got it all sorted out.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: And you know what?
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: It's for the better.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_03: Because you can't communicate with me.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_03: You just ghost me.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_00: You can't even break up with me.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: You just shut my phone off with the actual fuck.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_03: And this is why I'm terrified to ever have a joining plans with any lover or partner in my entire life ever again.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_03: That makes sense.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_03: And that's why I haven't.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_00: I think that makes sense.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_00: It's highly justified.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_00: My gosh.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_00: Why is that?
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_00: See, this is under control.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_00: We're like in our back, in our control, out of our control.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_00: Here we go, full circle.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_03: I can control so many things, but I can't if the if someone else has the freaking passcode or whatever.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_03: Golly, which also was screwed up because I was paying the majority of the bills.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_03: What the fuck?
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_03: And I was paying my phone bill too.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_03: It just was on the same account.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_03: To save money for the same one to throw a wine bottle at him.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_03: So I was also paying the majority of the bills.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_03: Motherfucker.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_03: For real.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_03: So whatever.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_03: For the better, but it couldn't have come at a more shocking moment.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_03: How they're texting my brother, like, why is Rachel not responding?
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_03: And because usually I'm the one that talks to them, not my brother.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_03: When we're going traveling together somewhere.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_03: And so it had to be like, he was like, Why aren't you responding to them, Rachel?
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_03: And I was like, brother, I can't.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_03: Like, I can't.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_03: This doesn't work.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_03: He said enough.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_03: So that was an interesting experience.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: Wow, I forget about that quite often, but I that's funny.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that all went down.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_03: That was wild.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_03: That was really wild.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_03: How petty?
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_03: Adults can't even have conversations.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_03: Just catch me off guard.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_03: Like, I know I paid my bill.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_03: Well, to be fair, his brain was not fully developed.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_03: Also, yeah, I paid the full month or a month ahead, and he shut my phone bill off.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_03: So that means I paid for his own next month's.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_00: Is what I'm hearing you say.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_02: What else is new?
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_02: What else is new?
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_02: Oh man.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_02: Let him come and take it.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_02: I dare him.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_02: Dare him.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_02: Anyways, sorry, that's what I think of that song.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_02: That one deep.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_00: Matt of Transformative Chine.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, I can't wait for the next hits different because I already have a song picked out for that one.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be awesome.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_00: Fabulous.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be a time investment, that is for sure.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_00: And that is a teaser for you, twisties.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_00: It's not gonna be a time warp, but it's gonna be a lot of time.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_00: It's a long song.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
