Transcript
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: There had been so many reports and just so much smoke over the last couple weeks about the Brownside coaching position Kevin Stefansky has officially been fired after six seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about it.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we're here to do today.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_02]: We just had our recap episode last night where we spent a ton of time talking about whether or not the Browns will or should fire Kevin's to fancy.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: So if you want to hear those conversations go back and watch last night's episode after the Bangle's win.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_02]: But here we are, today the decision has been made.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: We knew Black Monday would be the day that we find out the future for Kevin's defense.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_02]: And honestly Andrew Barry is what we're going to talk about him alongside this whole Kevin's defense continues because the two came in hand in hand and now they are supporting ways, but the you know, the situation surrounding the team is still very much both of their responsibilities.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: Before I dive into some of this information and my opinion on everything, make sure you guys had to join the dogs.com.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to be part of our official dog pack community, join the patreon over there, sync up with the private discord that thing has been popping off like crazy today.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: This is the time where the dog pack is like a must be for diehard Browns fans, because the conversations in there today have been
- 2:00[SPEAKER_02]: just going crazy and and we're going to have this type of stuff happening the entire off season because now we have a head coaching search now we need to be talking about candidates and who who the brown should be looking at to replace the fanskin who can fix this mess and all that kind of stuff.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: We got the draft, we got prospects, we got free agency, we have all this stuff coming down the road here really quickly, honestly.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: So join the dogs.com if you want to be part of those conversations.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: Every day plus we do the dog pack discord episodes live once a week in their every week.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: So as now that the season is over and it's not Thursday preview shows, the schedule will will probably vary based on work schedules and things like that for each week, but we'll let you guys know ahead of time which day that will be each week.
- 2:47[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's talk about this.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: So Kevin's defense key six years with the Browns.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just go through the numbers.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let's see, 2020, the inaugural year of the defense key and Andrew Barry.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: Eric, hey man, during COVID, if you guys remember the COVID insanity, nobody was allowed to, basically you weren't even allowed to look at another human being.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: Let alone get anywhere close to him.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: So the Browns had to conduct everything.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: via zoom, virtual meetings, and all that kind of stuff.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: You got your whole roster that was just here from, you know, the Hugh Jackson and Greg Williams, debacle those years, and then you come in with ready kitchens after that.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: And now you're getting this new head coach coming up to financing you, everybody's meeting him.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: He's meeting all the players over the computer and all this stuff.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: It was just a really questionable time to be bringing in a new head coach as far as how is this going to work?
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: Can this work?
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: You can't even meet your players face to face in person until I don't even know when they were allowed to get together and somehow made it work.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_02]: Got everybody
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: in a cohesive manner brought the team together.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: That was the last year in the NFL, by the way, that it was a 16 game season in 2020.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: So that was 11 and five record that he took the Browns to the playoffs, if you guys remember.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: Man, that season finale, that playoff win against the Steelers.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's right, Steelers suck it, you guys still suck.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: We beat the Steelers at home.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Two clinch, a playoff spot, a wild card spot, to go to Pittsburgh, the following, we can play the Steelers again in their house.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: And we whipped them there.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: And that's why the Browns have the more recent playoff win.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: Then the Pittsburgh Steelers, who, by the way, did,
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: managed to squeak out a win last night against the Ravens, the Ravens missed a last second walk off field goal that would have sent them to the playoffs.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: A week from tonight playing the Houston Texans, but instead it will be the Pittsburgh Steelers skating by the skin of their booties to play the Houston Texans.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I said it before and I'll say it now again.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't matter who's one in the AFC North Steelers Ravens either way, they will be a first round exit.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: But getting back to the 2020 season, that was phenomenal.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: We got our only playoff win in what modern history since 1999.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we didn't win a playoff game back in 2002, right?
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: So...
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: this was extraordinary.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: We've been waiting years for this and it was like, hey, we've got something here.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: We finally have that we got our quarterback.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: We got Baker Mayfield.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: We've got Jarvis Landry, got O'Dell, Nick Chub, Miles Garrett, Denzo, where we've got the, we got a team, David and Joku, Joe Paton, where we've got a team.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: We got a team.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: Then 2021 comes around the first 17 game season in the NFL and the Browns fall to 8 and 9.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: Just not great.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously that was the year that Baker injured his shoulder and what was a week two or three.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: It was just hurt all your Tampa Bay buck and your fans.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: You guys just lived it this year.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: What we lived in 2021 after the Baker Mayfield injury.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's essentially what you guys got to deal with this year.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: it happened again.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: It happened to get hurt as left shoulder struggled you know at the beginning of the year MVP talks like he was playing so great and everything and
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it didn't end so well.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: Now the Panthers are going to the playoffs as a, what an 8 and 9 team, the Browns are 8 and 9 and 2021.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: And now you got an NFC South division winner at 8 and 9.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: I saw somebody post on Twitter the other day that you, it doesn't matter if you win your division.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: If you are below 500, you should not make the playoffs.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: Only like the only way and a below 500 team should make the playoffs is if there's not seven teams
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like if the wild card spots that everything should go to teams that actually had winning records Thought that was interesting because it is kind of bogus that the Carolina Panthers can go eight nine And make the playoffs, but Discussion for another day.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: So then obviously the Brown say see a later Baker may field This isn't working out anymore.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: We're going all in on to Sean Watson in 2022
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: that was the worst move they've ever made and obviously now today you got information coming I swear the dirty laundry is gonna come to air so fast I feel like after this firing because already it was Pete Prisco on CBS Sports said that from what he was told
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin's defense.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: He did not want that trade made for Deshawn Watson.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: So here we go.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: We got information leaking out all over the place.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin's defense key not bought into the Deshawn Watson trade.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously there's a lot of stuff going on.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: You can read between the lines.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: like all the all the reports that all Kevin Spansky could get traded to a new team or whatever like there's stuff that his agent and that the team is putting out there to boost up his stock to get him that next job obviously they're all there's their stakes to be had for all these people in him having a job the agent doesn't get paid if Kevin Spansky doesn't have a job all that kind of stuff
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: I saw this posted to I would definitely be out there saying I didn't want to that trade as well just to try to make myself look a little bit better from my next job interview.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: But who knows, maybe this is all true.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: You got to put some stock into these reports at least from what we saw in the field because it never looked like.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin Stephanski was comfortable coaching to Sean Watson running the offense with to Sean Watson never looked like to Sean Watson wanted to be in his offense or cared about his offense.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: We had those reports at the end of the last season.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: If you guys remember, it was a Jason Lloyd.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: I forget published an article from players were telling him certain things.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: It was like now we're starting to get some leaks out of the locker room.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: Just a fan ski would never hold the Sean Watson accountable during film meetings the front of the team What in coach him up in front of the team never criticized him and things like that?
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: Just all this kind of stuff like that move derailed Anything positive the Browns had going for them when this new regime took over in 2020
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: So, that's 2020, obviously, to Sean Watson's out for 11 games.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: He comes back, it's like, holy crap.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: He's not that great, but it's rust, but it's rust.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: So the Browns go 7 and 10.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_02]: Turn around in 2023 and hey, things are looking up.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, to Sean Watson got hurt and everything.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: But the Browns were able to put everything together down the stretch and go 11 and 6 and clinch the playoffs, which is why I'm wearing this shirt.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: This was our, this was our, like, motto theme shirt for the 2023 season because it was every single post game victory speech that Kevin Stafinski did had the line, whatever it
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: And so I wanted to wear this one last time and honor of that season.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, before I go on here, I wanted Kevin's to fanski to get fired.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: If you guys watched the show all season, like I wanted to clean house.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: I want to Andrew Barry to get fired, too.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about that in a little bit.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: I was ready ready for new regime, ready for new voices, ready for new direction.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like whatever we're doing right now, just ain't working.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: But it doesn't mean, and I've said this plenty of times, it doesn't mean I don't like Kevin.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: I do, I like Kevin.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a good guy.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a good coach.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think his offense has flaws.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think it has been figured out.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think he has stubborn.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think he refuses to change the way he does things.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying this is like an indictment on him or anything like that.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is just how a lot of coaches are, you think about it.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: There are a lot of coaches that will take a reclamation project because they say I can fix this guy.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: I can make that work.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's all about ego.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's all about ego.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: This is my offense.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: This is my offense.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_02]: I can make this work.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: I can make this work.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: And unfortunately, he wasn't able to.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: It got figured out, talked to Jake Burns from Browns filmed breakdown about this stuff a while ago.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: Defense is, we talked about this all the time.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: The Houston Texans play off game back in 2023 where we got absolutely warped on because the, the Texas defensive players were calling out our offensive plays before they happened.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: Based on our alignment and every, they knew what we were running.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_02]: They know what we're running.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: There's no mystery in our offense.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just time for a change.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's time to get something new, something more innovative in here.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: And again, even if we get a head coach in here next year who brings in an offense or say we get a defensive coach and we get an OC that brings in an offense.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: And it works.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: And why will least successful?
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'll still be
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: because we need to see consistency.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is what happened with Kevin's defense game Cleveland, came in 2020 with his offense with his scheme.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: He had the right pieces, the right players to execute that scheme.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about this a lot too, also had a favorable schedule over the back half of the season to help get you those wins.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_02]: And it all worked, it all worked, but ever since, and it's like teams have just figured this out.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: And we're stoppable.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: We're completely stoppable.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: And that rolled into last year.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: 2024, we know the story.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: Fired Alex van Pelt, after, I mean, we questioned this.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: I know a lot of people questioned the moves before last season, ahead of 2024, when the Browns are coming off in 11 and six season, with five starting quarterbacks, they make the playoffs.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: and they fired pretty much their entire offensive staff, except for Chatochet, by the way, which, you know, we haven't really gotten any confirmation as far as which coaches are officially fired along with Kevin Stephansky yet, unless I've missed that report since I started recording this, but he is the one who has been fired.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: We don't really know the fate of all the other coaches yet.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: Chattoshay better, be nowhere near this team, nowhere near this organization, moving forward.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: I want nothing to do with people like Chattoshay, who, you know, if you're not familiar with the name, wide receiver's coach, and I believe passing game coordinator for the Browns the last six years, and what has been the weakest part of our offense for the last six years, the wide receiver group and the freaking passing game.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_02]: Get him out of here, get him out, get bubble vent, drone, the special teams coordinator out of here.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: The only one that I'm even remotely interested in keeping around is Jim Schwartz.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: That will be a conversation for another day, whether the Brown should consider him for a head coaching position Blake does not think so.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little more gray area on Jim Schwartz right now.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: because I kind of could see the benefit of hiring him as the head coach.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: Again, we'll talk about that another time.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: Today is more just, let's focus on the history of a defense game Barry and, you know, what the, what could be the future moving forward for this team?
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: This episode is sponsored by Butcher Box.

- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: the fact that after 23 they fired pretty much everybody other than Chadochet they got rid of Alex Fantelt the offensive coordinator they got rid of Stump Mitchell the running backs coach who he went on like a media tour bitch in a moment about the team and airing some dirty laundry and stuff and I was like oh boy here we go and we also have more dirty laundry air today which I'll get to uh... that was interesting
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: Anyhow.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: So Alex VanPelt gone offensive roster or staff pretty much turned over for the most part 2024 you bring at Kent Dorsey as the offensive coordinator.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: Just terrible.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: Just an absolutely terrible move.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_02]: The Browns go 3 and 14.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: They retain everybody obviously except for Dorsey.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: They promote tight end coach Tommy Reese to the offensive coordinator position and we just finished
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: So that's 8 and 26 over the last two seasons, just not going to cut it, and I mean really when you just look at the history of it all, Kevin's defense, he overall 101 games coached in Cleveland over six seasons, he had a 45 and 56 record that's a 4, 4, 6 win percentage.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_02]: I can go through the offensive ranks here too and a minute I do want to talk about that.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: I know I've done it before but I'm going to do it again because I think it's important to rehash that.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: But in all reality we're talking about two winning seasons in six years and Jimmy has them said this in his press conference today.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_02]: just not consistent enough.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's not consistent enough.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: He was talking about basically bouncing around on the record each year, like 2020, you go and you have a winning record.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: You go to the playoffs in 2021, 22 losing seasons.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: And then bam, 23, we're back to winning and it's back to the playoffs.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: And then 24, 25, we're bottom of the league.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: And we just cannot have that.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: He said the fans deserve better.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: And they're going to, they, they plan to put a better product on the field.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: I have my skeptical
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: or I'm very skeptical about Andrew Barry retaining his position as the GM considering the garbage we've watched the last two years on offense was built by Andrew Barry.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: and the Deshawn Watson debacle was facilitated by Andrew Barry.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: And while I don't, I don't agree that Andrew Barry should still be here.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: I understand the reasons for it.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: I understand that the cap situation.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I said this to a guy on Twitter today.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: Andrew Barry's very smart.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: He is a very
- 18:27[SPEAKER_02]: into the cap.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_02]: He came in here in 2020, got control of the cap and said, not only am I going to manipulate this thing, which I'm not saying he's done a bad job.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's actually done a fantastic job in manipulating the cap.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: It not very many general managers, in my opinion, could give to Sean Watson the contract and you know, allocate the cap space each year to that position.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: only to have it tank and yet still be able to sign meaningful free agents and extend every single player the team wanted to extend in that timeframe.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's, I mean, that's a hats off to Andrew Barry for his cap management.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, he also built in his own job security with the way he has structured these contracts.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: So I understand keeping Andrew Barry did he have a fantastic
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: or his five drafts prior to that.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Not so great.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they really weren't.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: Did he not have three first round picks to work with for three years?
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's true, but it was also his doing.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: I love it when people tried it and make the excuse for Andrew Barry like, well, he didn't have three first round picks to work with for a while there.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: that was his call.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: He made that decision.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: That was his call.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to use the dudes mistake as an excuse for his mistake.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's the one who did that.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: So I think we all need to just be realistic about the situation, but I understand it.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: They're moving forward and like I've said multiple times today his seat better be the hottest freaking seat anybody has ever sat on.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: moving forward because I'm telling you right now, you get 20, 20, 6, Andrew Barry.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: I am watching, you're under a microscope.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_02]: I, me, this podcast, the Browns organization better have the same mindset.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_02]: Don't f this up.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: You better fix this.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: You better fix this and you're getting one shot.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: one shot because I just fired the and and Blake is not on board with fire and chemistry things.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: I know he said in multiple episodes here recently like he understands if they do.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_02]: We've been texting back and forth today.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: He's still very not much not on board with this firing.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: and I'll give it to him.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, the fancings have been the best head coach that we have had since 1999.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: Since the Browns returned to the NFL, Kevin's the fancings of the best coach he's brought us the most success that we have had.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Since that time now,
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's I agree with the Haslam, it's not good enough.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not satisfied, I'm not content.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not good with it, like, and I appreciate everything Kevin did here.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to say, I hope he has success wherever he goes after this.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: I do, because I like him.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: I've said, I like Kevin, Stephansky.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: But if he goes somewhere and has success, takes another team to the playoffs in the next year or two.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: I know people are going to freak out and all the Browns are such a clown show and all this stuff guys, it wasn't happening here, it wasn't going to happen here, it's kind of like the the whole Baker may feel situation, people the the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win a game, Baker may feel throws three touchdowns and they're all the Browns are idiots.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it was happening here.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: Baker even said that himself.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: He kind of had to hit rock bottom to get where he is now.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: Things happen for a reason.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: You can't just copy and paste somebody's success on another team and say, but that would happen here.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: Not the case, just because if Kevin goes and wins somewhere else doesn't mean it was ever going to be happening here again, because history shows it hasn't happened here.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, for losing seasons out of six, 23 episodes before I know I get a lot of pushback from people, but 2023 was on track to be another losing season.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: And Blake and Art, you with me only once, but I, I stand with it.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: Joe Flacco came in here saved everybody's hands and high nends that year.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: Um, that's the way I see it.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, here we are.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin's done ABC here, leading the head coaching search.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: Who's out there?
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: I see that one a lot.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, who are they going to get?
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to replace him?
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: There's quite a few candidates.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: I have not compiled a list.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: I have not put anything together.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going off any notes right now.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just talking to you guys.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: about the situation and how I'm feeling and I want to hear from you guys in the comments, send me some voicemails.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: I got a couple to play here today at the end of the show, and we'll go from there, but I've been reading the last couple days about Grant Odinsky, is the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jake Wires.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying he's at the top of my
- 23:20[SPEAKER_02]: But I like what I've been reading about him.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: He was the assistant to the head coach.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: He was a Dwight to Michael Scott in Minnesota with Kevin O'Connell for a year or two.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: And what I liked about the history of Odinsky's coaching career was how quickly and expedited his escalation through the ranks went.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: and the Minnesota Vikings and again, I don't have all this pulled up to make sure I'm actually correct but I'm pretty sure he went from assistant to the head coach to assistant quarterback coach to assistant quarterback coach and assistant offensive coordinator to offensive coordinator to now offensive coordinator hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars and the guy seen he's young.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_02]: But if you go back and you look at the years where he was there and you think about the quarterbacks he was the assistant quarterback coach and all this stuff He worked with these guys the Sam Darnold year last year the Trevor Lawrence year this year with Jacksonville.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm very intrigued by Grant you didn't ski if I'm even saying it right
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but again, that's a guy that until they lose and they're out of the play us, these off limits.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: We can't really talk to them.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's some other people, obviously name slow to around.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: You got guys like Joe Brady, the offensive coordinator for the bills.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: You've got...
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: We've already mentioned, I mean, Jim Schwarz could be a candidate.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, people have thrown around about Brian Flores, the DC for the Vikings.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: You've got Chris Schula, the defensive coordinator out in L.A. for the Rams.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's another interesting name, defensive-minded head coach.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: But again, I'm not opposed.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to keep my mind open to all possibilities here.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's Jeff Haffley, that is named Jeff Haffley.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: The DC up in Green Bay, I think, is gaining some traction for head coaching.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: interviews and things like that.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's Jesse Minter, I think the guy's name is, there's all kinds of names out there.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's just important to have an open mind that, you know, before Kevin Stephansky came here to be the head coach of the Browns.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: He was just a one year offensive coordinator for the Minnesota leggings.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: before that he was what was he was he the assistant quarterback coach or something for them to I can't even remember exactly but you know he was sort of obviously people knew of him but he was an unknown commodity at the time and he just got to take a chance on people when you interview them and feel like they're the right fit.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: and give it a shot.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what the Browns are heading towards.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: So if we want to just look at, I'll pull this up real quick, the offensive ranks for the Browns under Kevin's defense ski have not been good.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: And that's another reason why I was out on him earlier this season, just saying it's time to move on because you're an offensive head coach.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: You've had to turn over offensive play calling two years in a row.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: Now your offensive has been one of the worst in the league.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_02]: What are you really bringing to the team?
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's been my thing, like, what are you doing well over this 5 and 26 stretch where the offensive numbers have been the worst, some of the worst in the league.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_02]: So, when you first got here in 2020, the offense, let's go yards, well, we'll just do it by year.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, back that up, 2020.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_02]: We finished 14th and yards, 16th, I'm sorry, 16th and yards, 14th and points.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: the following year 2021.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: We felt 18th in yards and 20th in point scored.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: 22 back up to 14th in yards, but only 18th in point scored.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: 2023 was the best season under Kevin's defense ski for the offense.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: We were 16th in yards and 10th in point score.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: So if anybody says, well, Kevin's, you know, he had a top 10 offense here, not really.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: And in terms of yards,
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yards per game, we were never top 10.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: The highest we ever were was 14 in the league.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: So you could say we had a top 15 offense in yards, but we've never been top 10, and we've only had a top 10 scoring offense once, and we were 10th in 2023.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: 2024, obviously, terrible.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: We were 28th in yards and 30 second for getting dead last.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: In point scored, ending this year, 2025, the Browns finished 30th.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_02]: In yards, that would be the third worst in the league, and we were the 31st in point scored second to last.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: Over the last two years, you had the worst scoring offense and the second worst scoring offense in the league.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_02]: Again, go back to what I said earlier.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: Is this 100% on Kevin Stephansky?
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's not.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: Gotta be real about it.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: Part of it is.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: Part of it is.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: But there's a large part of this that's Andrew Barry building the worst offense of personnel grouping ever.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: Then you go to the debates of, well, how much of it was, you know, a certain personnel.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: And then the coaching staff not getting the most out of that personnel.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen a lot of people complaining about, you know, Kevin's to ask you over the years, put too much faith in the wrong coaches on his staff.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: Kept Joe Woods too long.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with that one.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with that one wholeheartedly.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: Joe would should have been fired after the first year if not that then definitely after the second year, but we kept him a third year.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: Terrible decision making.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: But but then Trump, not getting fired when the special teams unit is the worst in the league and it's costing you games.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: I know Blake said only, you know, dumpster fire teams, fire coaches during the season.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: What was it, the Rams?
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't the Rams just a couple of weeks go fire of the special teams coordinator because they were given a big place on special teams?
- 29:12[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty sure they were a playoff team in a Super Bowl favorite.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes you just have to make those decisions when things aren't going right and Kevin's fanski would not hold anybody accountable.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: If it was last two wins over division rivals were great but it doesn't change that fact that there was never accountability here.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: and the decision making was always questionable.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_02]: So, let me know what you guys think.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: Are you on board with the firing?
- 29:37[SPEAKER_02]: Are you upset about it?
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think we should have kept them?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe give them another year, give them some more pieces.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: Let me know what you guys think, but it doesn't change the fact that it is over those six year.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Stint for Kevin's Advancing Cleveland has come to an end.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: The Browns are moving forward with a head coaching search if you've got candidates that you like.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: Drop them in the comments.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: Let me know who I should be doing some research on to bring you updated information on this search in the coming weeks.

- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: This one is from Nick.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: Hey guys, this is Big Nick for Memphis, and once again, you guys have a wonderful podcast, got a wonderful show.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: I wanna get you guys shout out to you guys or a really middle of the road, you don't play favorites to play sides.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: You say what you gotta say, and it's all good.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: But let's be realistic.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: You guys found your QB1 in the fifth round, by accident, fell over and by mistake.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: Hey.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's the guy, real talk.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't know what quarterback play looks like, he's the guy.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: Next, real talk is your defense is set.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_00]: You've got all the players to need.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now all you need to do is get your offensive line, get Jared Judy, find him somewhere else to be other than on the field.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_00]: Get you a gumma one receiver that's going to fight for the ball because the intercepted a guess Pittsburgh The entire dude is in an even fight for the ball.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's just like while like it was some thing that he'd never seen before is horrendous He needs to be out of field.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: You need to have judgekins bond
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: fan in 84, I can't think his name right now, but I really believe them with a upper echelon receiver, whether you trade for one or whether you, you get one in the draft, you just need a number one because the rest of your receiver court really has the participants will be great, but you've got to have one lead and he's still needs his tight hands and both tight hands being
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, first of all, Nick, thank you for the compliments there, the top of your voice mail, but I, you know, we agree, I agree, should or standard seems like he's got what you're looking for in his worth giving an opportunity in 2026, the old around him, like you're saying here, we have 100% with you on the Jerry Judy stuff, man, we've got to get an alpha number one receiver in here.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody who will just fight for the freaking ball and be the, the, the, the, the, the,
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: throw it to me throw me the ball I will make a play and you know we we've got a lot of talk coming up here in this offseason and everything as much as I like Mason Graham I was thinking about this the other night and I do I think Mason Graham had a great rookie season I think he's going to be a good player on our defense for a lot of years into the future Man is sure we're to be nice to have Ted Aero McMillan on this offense
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: would have been nice to have Ted McMillan for sure.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then if you go and you look at everything though, we did get the NFL's second as a second or third now, I can't remember.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's the second leading reception rookie, Harold Fan and Jr.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: So that's cool.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_02]: We have got to get some offensive pieces in here for Shidorah.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: I 100% agree with you.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: And actually Nick sent in a second voicemail.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: So let's listen to that one now.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: My whole thing is, I am one of the list you guys know in Cleveland, Eric B.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: Enemy is the Gaff you guys.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: Real talk, he took patch my home from nothing or something.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_00]: as the ability to coach players that are off schedule, but are great in improv, and he puts in plays that players that can play off schedule can win with.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: And real talk, if you make him air being in the middle, you also your HC, and real talk, he has to be the ability to change Cleveland sports.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I hope right now, if they get rid of the seven, comes fast, get Eric Banimous should be the only coach that is on your radar.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_00]: He should be the only one.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: There is nobody else.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's proven it, he's done it.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: He has approval rings, and we have seen how bad that my home looks without Banimous.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: Those first five, six years with Banimous,
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: These last three years, four years without the enemy, are totally different.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: They are totally different.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead and look at this fast, look at the numbers, look at this performance, it's, he looks like a totally different player.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: And with that he end up giving himself hurt this year.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm telling you what to tell him I should do,
- 35:29[SPEAKER_00]: with a close ticket that that is often to a player players.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: Chris are well, first of all, I don't think their Vietnamese departure from Kansas City caused Patrick Holmes to get injured, but I'm just messing with you.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: I know that's not what you meant.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: No, the thing is, I know Blake said the other night about Eric Vietnamese somebody in the chat mentioned his name.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: Former offensive coordinator for the Kansas Disease, if you guys haven't picked up on that or didn't know who he was.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, he's a coach that I have not kept tabs on.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't kept up with him, especially since, you know, he was up for some head coaching, candidate interview, things like that over the last couple years, and never got higher, just never really came to fruition, and he's a guy though, you know, when you mention about how the chief's offense has changed since he left their team and their organization.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's worth looking into.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not going to just say no on Eric B.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: Enemy.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate your voice mail.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: You've given me something to think about and I'm going to look into the stats.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'll look into him and we will make sure that he is at least included whether we are in favor of or not in favor of the enemy moving forward, but I'll make sure he's included.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: In our head coaching candidate episodes that I'm sure we'll be doing a ton of here in the next few weeks.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: So thank you for the voice Mel's Nick.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: Always appreciate hearing from you guys.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: The next one is from our girl Hannah.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_03]: What's up dog tag?
- 36:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's Hannah.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_03]: I got to go to the game.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_03]: I had to wait until today to
- 37:10[SPEAKER_03]: amazing to watch it in person.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_03]: The crowd went absolutely wild.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_03]: Even Bengals fans were going wild for him.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe not the ones that I was sitting next to.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: They were giving me the whole game and they opened their mouth and said, well, I don't think he's gonna get it.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_03]: And boom, next play.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_03]: You fucking got it, I ripped off my jacket, I had my jersey, my mouth Garrett jersey on and I said who the fuck was it get it get it?
- 37:46[SPEAKER_03]: And I just went and pulled a stick, my sister had to pull me back and it was skinny weed, I'm so fucking pumped that he got it, I'm so happy it came with a win.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_03]: I still had the bagel source to go for two when they said it just kicked it.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's not that it really would have helped him, but my God, it was elite.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_03]: I can't wait for Shador to have a full off season to really get himself together.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you guys so much.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_03]: Can't wait to talk off season.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Hannah, thank you for the voicemail.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_02]: So awesome.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: To hear the jubilation from Browns fans about Miles Garig in that Zachary record yesterday was awesome, so much fun.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about it forever last night on the show.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: Can't get enough of it, and we're going to enjoy that one.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: First, long as we can kind of fitting that it came in the very final game of the season, and it's great that it came in a win over a division rival.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: Little brothers, Cincinnati Bengals out there.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: I know Bengals fans hate.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_02]: everything to do with the Browns because you guys lose to us all the freaking time and I know they came out today and said they're keeping their head coach and everybody intact.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_02]: Good luck.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: Good luck.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: I've thought very little is Zack Taylor over the entire tenure.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_02]: He's been there and I will continue to think very little of Zack Taylor.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_02]: But Hannah, that was awesome.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, I too.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited for Shidorah Sanders to get an entire offseason here to get ready for
- 39:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's the case because again, with Kevin Stephansky being out, new coaching staff coming in, it does really put things up in the air for Shador's future.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think we all need to be realistic and understand that.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: A new coaching staff coming in may very well demand their own quarterback the guy that they want in here to run the offense.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_02]: That is a real thing that happens when coaching changes are made, especially since the new coachy staff comes in, they have no allegiance to any of the players that are currently on the team.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, you've got allegiance to their contracts.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: You've got allegiance to Miles Garrett and Denzel Ward and anybody in here that's got a big contract.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: You've got allegiance to the rookies who are on rookie deals and are going to be here, but you don't have allegiance to a fifth round rookie quarterback that you have to play him.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: That is very true, so it's going to be interesting to see what the deal is, the new coaching stuff, are their stipulations, are, do you have to keep Jim Schwartz as defensive coordinator if you want to take this job to Shador Sanders have to be your quarterback, are you bringing in a new quarterback?
- 40:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's, everything's going to change.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: Things are going to, I shouldn't say everything, but things are going to change with this team, the way it's run, the way it's looked upon, the certain players and it,
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: Changes are coming, so just be ready for whatever those may be and whatever they may bring.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Hannah again, thank you and the last, this is the last one, right?
- 40:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, last voice, my god for today, this one is from Andrew.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_04]: What's up, guys?
- 40:53[SPEAKER_04]: Hope you're all good.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_04]: My name's Andrew, and I'm from Newcastle, England.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_04]: I apologize in advance if you can't understand anything I'm saying because of my accent, but
- 41:09[SPEAKER_04]: He has every right to feel that he's been screwed over, especially when you look at the quality of offensive players you've been given the past two seasons.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_04]: Almost looks as if he's kind of been put forward as the sacrificial lamb for the team.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't know, I don't even show on McVey or Carl Shanahan could put together a competent offense with the offensive line and receivers that we currently
- 41:35[SPEAKER_04]: I do get why Brown's fans wanted him to be fired, but I don't understand how you could expect an offensive head coach to have success.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_04]: With Cam Robinson is your left tackle and Jerry Judy is your wide receiver one.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_04]: It just doesn't make any sense.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: Go Brown's.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_02]: International voicemails.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_02]: Is something about it just gets me tingly, man.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_02]: I love it from you guys.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I could understand you with your accent.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_02]: So not a problem whatsoever, Andrew.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for the voicemail.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we talked about this last night again on the show.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: We agree with your sentiment over all that.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: very difficult to expect much out of this offense with the personnel that was handed to the coaching staff.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I'm very skeptical on Andrew Barry and him continuing to be in charge of the roster building and all that kind of stuff because
- 42:26[SPEAKER_02]: What we got this year is what he built.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Mr. Barry.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was total garbage, at least on the offensive side of the ball.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, you got some really great young players in the draft last year, but you got zero of them at the premium positions.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: You got no left tackle or right tackle.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: You had no tackles.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't invest anything in the offensive line.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: Your last offensive line in pick was Zach Zinter, who was a freaking healthy scratch.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_02]: All year.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_02]: had to play back up guard and center yesterday when Luke with I still don't even know what happened to Luke with her.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't even looked it up because he got darned this team.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you what.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't invest in any wider severs.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like we're good with Jit Rowland into a season with Jerry Judy as the only receiver of note on this team who's ever done anything whatsoever in the NFL.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else is a rookie or a UDFA or practice squad guy.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_02]: Come on.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: The more I talk about it, the more I'm really pushing myself into not so okay that Andrew Barry's back.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, that's the case, so I guess we just got to deal with it, but I do agree with you Andrew, like the roster building.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_02]: not good.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_02]: Very difficult to expect anybody to succeed here.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_02]: I guess for me the thing is even when we did have a good core of offensive players on this team, the offense and I just went through the numbers before the break, the offensive numbers still weren't tops of the league.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_02]: We still weren't running one of the best offenses in the league with Kevin's defense key here, despite what some people may think.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_02]: Just go look at the numbers.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_02]: That is the truth.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_02]: It is what it is.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_02]: So again, thank you to everybody who sent in voicemails here for today.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to leave a voicemail to get on the show, go to thedocspodcast.com, tap leave voicemail to drop down menu, send in your message, or you can even type out a written message and send it to the email there.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_02]: There's a little box there, all you have to do is type your message, hit send, boom comes right to my email and I read it on the show.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: So that's always something you can do as well if you don't want your voicemails on the show.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_02]: We got a lot of stuff to talk about here.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_02]: We knew this was coming.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_02]: We knew there's going to be a head coaching search.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_02]: I was like 99% sure.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_02]: I was honestly going to be pretty shocked if this wasn't going to be the case.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think as much as it was a firing of Kevin Sefansky, I would also be very surprised if this was not actually a very neutral parting of ways between the two parties.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: I do not think
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin Stephansky wanted to continue coaching this team.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think he probably is ready for an opportunity.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: Some were else, changes scenery.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: We see how a change scenery can be good for players.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: It can also be good for coaches.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_02]: And now Kevin Safanski is in that category and the Browns are looking for a new coach.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_02]: Let me know what you guys think I do believe as much as we would probably prefer an offensive minded head coach.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_02]: I do think we're probably going to be looking heavily.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just my my initial opinions here on day one of the search.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know if it's begun yet.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_02]: probably going to be looking at a lot of defensive candidates because this job and my view would be more attractive to a defensive coordinator looking for a head coaching job.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_02]: because you've, I mean, the defense is great.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_02]: It really is.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_02]: You've got Miles Garrett.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: You've got Denza Ward and Grant's Elpit and Carson Swesinger and Mason Graham and Tyson Campbell and Alex Wright and hopefully Devin Bush comes back, hopefully J.O.K.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_02]: can play again.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like the defense is very attractive.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's a very attractive position if you are a defensive guy and you're like, I can go.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_02]: I can go win with that defense.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: You get these offensive minded guys and think I can go win with that offense Ben Johnson going to Chicago.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: I can do this.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_02]: Just get a good defensive coordinator and here's, you know, to help me out.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_02]: Flip it on the other side of a defense corner.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_02]: I can go to Cleveland and win with that defense, just give me a good offensive coordinator.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see how it goes.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: I just, that's the way I currently see it happening.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's why guys like Shula and Half-Lee, and these defensive coordinator names get thrown around and I'm like, okay?
- 46:42[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go down that route if we need to and might be the best plan of attack for the Browns.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_02]: But let me know what you guys think.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate you guys tuning in, interacting with the show, on social media and sending in voice mails and everything.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: You guys are the best.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_02]: You guys are the best.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_02]: You make this possible.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_02]: Wouldn't be possible without you guys.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_02]: So from my heart, you love you guys.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: Love you guys.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: We're about to go into a very interesting offseason for the Cleveland Browns.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: And I like there's never not one.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's always interesting.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_02]: But just a little bit more interesting this time around.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: So, oh, by the way, we got the six-lover all pick.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_02]: If we didn't mention that last night, I can't remember.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_02]: We are picking sixth in the NFL drafts.
