- 1:37Speaker 6: of Halloween.
- 1:40Speaker 7: What's up?
- 1:40Speaker 4: Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:42Speaker 7: I'm Nora.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm Phillip.
- 1:43Speaker 4: And happy Halloween!
- 1:45Speaker 7: Wee!
- 1:46Speaker 4: It's the Halloween Spooktacular! You guys are excited, right?
- 1:51Speaker 8: For the holiday, yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Again, I'm nodding in a non-visual medium, but yes.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Anyway, we are coming to you live via digital recording
- 1:59Speaker 4: from Haddonfield, America's favorite quaint small town. That is the
- 2:04Speaker 4: Oddity Studios. We'll get back to that in a minute.
- 2:07Speaker 4: In the meantime, plenty of ground to cover on this
- 2:10Speaker 4: very special holiday episode. I guess first, if you've been
- 2:14Speaker 4: paying attention lately, which this is going out on our
- 2:17Speaker 4: normal feed, so you probably haven't been, so this is
- 2:19Speaker 4: an advertisement to tell you you could be hearing the
- 2:22Speaker 4: rest of this story if you join the club and
- 2:25Speaker 4: listen to the rest of this, because we're throwing this
- 2:27Speaker 4: out on the main feed to let people know we
- 2:29Speaker 4: have a horror club if for some reason people haven't
- 2:32Speaker 4: been paying attention. I'll get to my update in a minute,
- 2:36Speaker 4: but the other thing I was going to do as
- 2:38Speaker 4: a tie-in to the Horror Club and our Patreon special benefits,
- 2:45Speaker 4: as I logged in this past month, at the very top,
- 2:49Speaker 4: it has this special little thing that pops up, and
- 2:51Speaker 4: it says, click here, because the U.S. government requires us
- 2:54Speaker 4: to collect taxes.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:57Speaker 4: So this is like a new thing, which says a
- 2:59Speaker 4: lot about the government, that they're so on top of
- 3:01Speaker 4: things that they just realized, wait, people are making money
- 3:04Speaker 4: off this? Like, how many years has Patreon been a thing?
- 3:08Speaker 4: And they just realized it. But yeah, so now we
- 3:11Speaker 4: have to give them a cut of it.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Oh.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Screw those guys.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Do you have to fill out fancy forms?
- 3:18Speaker 4: And that's what it is. It's click on this link
- 3:20Speaker 4: to take you to the tax forms that we have
- 3:22Speaker 4: to provide the government now.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Do you have to do this every year?
- 3:26Speaker 4: I'm assuming. As long as you have one set up
- 3:29Speaker 4: and are clearing something off of it, you now have
- 3:31Speaker 4: to declare it. Which is, I get it. That's how
- 3:35Speaker 4: our dumb system works. I don't think I'm above paying taxes.
- 3:38Speaker 4: So it's fine on some level, but at the same time,
- 3:41Speaker 4: we don't really make anything. Like I still, I added
- 3:44Speaker 4: up the other stuff like last year and I'm like, yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 4: we're still not coming out ahead with Patreon. Don't get
- 3:49Speaker 4: me wrong. I appreciate the hell out of everybody who
- 3:51Speaker 4: supports us. But if I factor in all the other stuff,
- 3:54Speaker 4: like the fact that I have to have a functioning
- 3:56Speaker 4: computer and every couple of years it totally keels over
- 3:59Speaker 4: and I have to buy another one. So you factor
- 4:01Speaker 4: in that. And like, I just had to get like,
- 4:04Speaker 4: even the newer one that I got filled up immediately
- 4:06Speaker 4: because I guess that's the way they make them now
- 4:08Speaker 4: as part of the scam. So like, because the, freaking
- 4:11Speaker 4: audio files are so huge and all the other crap
- 4:13Speaker 4: I have on there so now I had to go
- 4:15Speaker 4: reload on like external hard drives to be able to
- 4:18Speaker 4: store everything so that it's not clogging up the computer
- 4:21Speaker 4: and like that cost a damn fortune too so the
- 4:24Speaker 4: other dumb stuff I have to buy that's not officially
- 4:27Speaker 4: tied to it but it can't happen without it that
- 4:30Speaker 4: yeah so there's stuff like that that I'm like yeah
- 4:32Speaker 4: we're not making anything guys I hate to tell you
- 4:34Speaker 4: I'm still going in the hole on this so It's
- 4:37Speaker 4: just a thing we do because we like talking about movies.
- 4:39Speaker 4: But the government still wants their cuts. So, join the
- 4:42Speaker 4: Meltdown Horror Club and help us pay taxes.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:46Speaker 4: There's the real world tie-in. But also, we're going to do...
- 4:51Speaker 4: This one's going out on the main feed because it's
- 4:53Speaker 4: Halloween and it's super special and we're horror and that's
- 4:55Speaker 4: what we do. But we've also got two more upcoming
- 4:59Speaker 4: special holiday features that are only going to be on
- 5:02Speaker 4: the Patreon feed. So, if you want to see what
- 5:04Speaker 4: nonsense we're doing for Thanksgiving... You better join. Christmas, we're
- 5:09Speaker 4: still deciding. I've got a couple of ideas. Hopefully you
- 5:14Speaker 4: guys have a better idea. So, yeah, we'll figure it out.
- 5:17Speaker 4: But we've got exclusive Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes coming out
- 5:21Speaker 4: on Patreon. So join up now and help us figure
- 5:24Speaker 4: out what the hell we're doing to pay our taxes.
- 5:28Speaker 4: That out of the way. There's the business out of
- 5:30Speaker 4: the way. My update was going to be, if you've
- 5:32Speaker 4: been listening to the Patreon feed, you know we have
- 5:35Speaker 4: a pumpkin patch out front. So I've been giving the
- 5:38Speaker 4: update these last couple of months and the update is
- 5:41Speaker 4: mine is gone.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah, sadly.
- 5:44Speaker 4: It came through again right after we recorded last time.
- 5:47Speaker 4: So we might be tied to this somehow. But as
- 5:50Speaker 4: soon as we finished, I told you last time I
- 5:52Speaker 4: had like one little strand coming up on my side
- 5:55Speaker 4: and it was back far enough into like the garden
- 5:58Speaker 4: area where they should just leave it alone and it'll
- 6:01Speaker 4: maybe reform itself and become another giant pumpkin patch up
- 6:04Speaker 4: front of my place. They came through a couple days
- 6:07Speaker 4: later and cleaned out the underbrush area, which don't get
- 6:10Speaker 4: me wrong, it looks better, and I sure as hell
- 6:11Speaker 4: wasn't going to do it. So thanks a lot. But
- 6:13Speaker 4: they also cleared out that one little piece. No. So
- 6:17Speaker 4: the last little sliver of pumpkin patch I had left
- 6:20Speaker 4: has been stolen.
- 6:22Speaker 1: But your neighbor still has her pumpkin patch.
- 6:24Speaker 4: But right across the way.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Which is very pleasant looking. Like when this whole experience started,
- 6:29Speaker 1: it was just a wild mess. But now it looks
- 6:32Speaker 1: neat and manicured.
- 6:33Speaker 4: It looks so cute.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it looks great.
- 6:35Speaker 4: So we are still coming just a few feet away
- 6:37Speaker 4: from a pumpkin patch. So that still holds true. But
- 6:40Speaker 4: it also, the wrap up for it, I guess, unless
- 6:44Speaker 4: we need to come back and throw some like gourds
- 6:46Speaker 4: and other random things out there for Thanksgiving. But the
- 6:51Speaker 4: cornucopia of pumpkin fun out there. But that aside, if
- 6:55Speaker 4: we're wrapping it up, I think my takeaway is I
- 6:58Speaker 4: went and Googled when the best time to plant pumpkin
- 7:01Speaker 4: seeds is. And then next year, I think just out
- 7:03Speaker 4: of spite, I'm loading up that whole front area with
- 7:06Speaker 4: pumpkin seeds. I make most of my decisions based on spite. So,
- 7:10Speaker 4: you know.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Is there another way?
- 7:12Speaker 4: It seems like the way to live. I don't know.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I mean, I'm here because I'm mad at something, but
- 7:17Speaker 1: I don't remember what it is.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Sucker.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I've been doing this show long enough that I forgot
- 7:23Speaker 1: what spited me into coming here.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Yeah, it has been a while. So, even I don't
- 7:28Speaker 4: remember why this all came here.
- 7:30Speaker 9: I'm just here every time.
- 7:31Speaker 1: It was a hateful reason.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I remember that.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Actually, it was.
- 7:36Speaker 4: It was so long ago now. But I remember listening
- 7:39Speaker 4: to another podcast and going, well.
- 7:41Speaker 1: This is terrible.
- 7:42Speaker 4: I can do better than that. And then here I am.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Hey, I got a good piece of advice one time,
- 7:48Speaker 1: which is if you feel like you can do something better,
- 7:50Speaker 1: just go ahead and do it.
- 7:51Speaker 4: And it's arguable that it is. But I feel that
- 7:54Speaker 4: I certainly enjoy what I do better than that thing
- 7:56Speaker 4: I was listening to a million years ago.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And here we are 30 years later.
- 8:00Speaker 4: I feel like I've accomplished something.
- 8:01Speaker 1: This show has been going on since before the internet.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Yeah, pretty much.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I mean, actually.
- 8:06Speaker 4: It feels like it. So that aside, there's your pumpkin update. Uh, the,
- 8:12Speaker 4: the next in our pre-movie, uh, breakdown here for every Halloween,
- 8:16Speaker 4: we have these things that become, you know, tradition. So, uh,
- 8:21Speaker 4: Phil noticed as he came in that there's a surprise
- 8:23Speaker 4: waiting over there. There's a new Lego adventure. Now I've
- 8:27Speaker 4: done this last year for a couple of the holidays.
- 8:30Speaker 4: So I thought this time it's more fun with the
- 8:33Speaker 4: grand reveal. So I've built an elaborate set of curtains.
- 8:37Speaker 4: It's very beautiful as you can see.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I'm about to go unleash this new Lego adventure.
- 8:43Speaker 8: Yay. I love the Lego. Oh, spooky haunted house.
- 8:54Speaker 4: So since last year, I decided we needed a spooky
- 8:57Speaker 4: falling apart house to go and hang out at. So
- 9:01Speaker 4: I've decided, number one, We got suckered in because in
- 9:05Speaker 4: front of the house, there's a wild pumpkin patch. And
- 9:08Speaker 4: we being the dorks that we are, we're like, oh, cool.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Let's go look at the pumpkin patch. And as we
- 9:13Speaker 4: go walking up there, that is also not so luckily
- 9:16Speaker 4: the exact same moment when a zombie outbreak kicks in
- 9:20Speaker 4: and we are about to be, you know, taken down
- 9:22Speaker 4: upon by a whole bunch of Lego zombies. You are
- 9:26Speaker 4: once again of a bitch, Nora. So I figured you
- 9:29Speaker 4: would like that butt upgrade because last year we decided
- 9:32Speaker 4: that To be a witch with the witch hat, you
- 9:34Speaker 4: also had to be bald. There's a new one, and
- 9:37Speaker 4: you have some hair tucked up under the hat. So
- 9:40Speaker 4: now you're not a bald witch. Got that going for you.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Very good. I stuck with pirate. I think I found
- 9:46Speaker 4: a different hat, actually. So it's similar, but I think
- 9:48Speaker 4: you have a different colored feather. So you're a fancy pirate.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Fantastic.
- 9:52Speaker 4: But I also gave you a hook hand. Because I
- 9:55Speaker 4: feel like if you were going to be a pirate,
- 9:56Speaker 4: it would not be long, and you would lose a hand.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Oh, wait.
- 10:00Speaker 4: No matter what i do it's probably not going to
- 10:02Speaker 4: be long even if you're not a pirate i'm surprised
- 10:04Speaker 4: now you have two hands so i just thought that
- 10:07Speaker 4: was that was fitting but i decided to go with
- 10:10Speaker 4: zombies as a tie-in for nora's recent Online mention of
- 10:16Speaker 4: how much she loved The Living Dead and Manchester Moore.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Did you want to share with people the thing you
- 10:23Speaker 4: ran across on some streaming service that we're not sponsored by?
- 10:26Speaker 8: What?
- 10:26Speaker 4: They gave it how many skulls?
- 10:29Speaker 8: They gave it five out of five skulls.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Five out of five. If you'd said five out of 37.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I know.
- 10:37Speaker 8: And I was shocked because usually their recommendations are really good.
- 10:41Speaker 8: And I'm like, did I miss something? Should I have
- 10:44Speaker 8: liked that movie more than I did?
- 10:46Speaker 4: You posted it and I was like, dude, I swear.
- 10:48Speaker 4: That's the only reason I knew of it was by reputation.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Horror hardcore fans love that movie and have tons of
- 10:56Speaker 4: respect for it. Five out of five doesn't surprise me.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Maybe there's something.
- 11:01Speaker 8: I don't get it.
- 11:01Speaker 1: They couldn't even spell the name of the office right
- 11:04Speaker 1: on the door.
- 11:06Speaker 4: I like they couldn't even decide how to name their movie.
- 11:10Speaker 4: If you remember, it's also let sleeping corpses lie. Don't
- 11:13Speaker 4: open the window. Don't spell my name right and put
- 11:17Speaker 4: it on my window. I don't know. There's like 14
- 11:20Speaker 4: other titles for this movie. As we know, so many
- 11:23Speaker 4: of these movies that we watch have.
- 11:24Speaker 5: So.
- 11:26Speaker 4: So anyway, that's why I thought it was even funnier
- 11:30Speaker 4: to go with a zombie attack.
- 11:31Speaker 8: I wish one of us had one of those little strainer.
- 11:34Speaker 8: scanning devices that the guys in the field had, but
- 11:37Speaker 8: other than that, it's pretty good.
- 11:39Speaker 4: I mean, I think I've seen a piece similar to that,
- 11:42Speaker 4: so I can give you one of those as the
- 11:44Speaker 4: month goes on. I can give you a, we can
- 11:46Speaker 4: put like a colander on your head and have you
- 11:49Speaker 4: holding a strainer on a stick or whatever the thing
- 11:52Speaker 4: is that helps you find electromagnetic zombies or whatever all
- 11:55Speaker 4: that bullshit. You also have to stand next to like
- 11:57Speaker 4: a thrashing machine or that giant tractor or whatever that
- 12:00Speaker 4: thing was they had out in the field that Somehow
- 12:03Speaker 4: is creating zombies out on us. I don't know.
- 12:06Speaker 1: It's inkling. Maybe we're just not smart enough to understand.
- 12:08Speaker 4: That could be it too. So if you're a really
- 12:12Speaker 4: smart horror fan and you have problems with what we're saying,
- 12:15Speaker 4: you can let us know.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Please let us know.
- 12:17Speaker 8: Please tell me why it's good. I need to know.
- 12:20Speaker 4: I will give him credit that it was groundbreaking. I
- 12:23Speaker 4: think we said that on the episode. That like it
- 12:25Speaker 4: was ahead of all those other movies that came out. American-wise, but...
- 12:30Speaker 4: I mean, outside of Night of the Living Dead, it
- 12:32Speaker 4: was like the next big wave there, and it was
- 12:34Speaker 4: before all those other ones, mostly.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Maybe that's the problem. Maybe we just didn't realize it
- 12:39Speaker 1: was groundbreaking because we'd seen all that.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Yeah, by the time we watched it, you know, last year,
- 12:44Speaker 4: we'd seen a million other knockoff zombie movies that, you know,
- 12:47Speaker 4: have come out since then. So that's probably part of it.
- 12:51Speaker 4: If we were around in England in the 70s, it
- 12:54Speaker 4: would have been super cool, I suppose, but.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Still no 5 out of 5 skulls maybe 3 and
- 13:02Speaker 4: a half I'll give them credit for the groundbreaking attitude
- 13:06Speaker 4: but yeah it still wasn't anything above and beyond it's
- 13:09Speaker 4: still not a night of the living dead kind of
- 13:11Speaker 4: thing so yeah anyway Lego zombies.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yeah I always knew that I'd be taken out by
- 13:19Speaker 1: a horde of the undead but it's refreshing to know
- 13:22Speaker 1: that you guys will be with.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Me and I did put a little mixture together we
- 13:26Speaker 4: do have a cheerleader zombie over there And I've got
- 13:28Speaker 4: the one is a coffee shop zombie. She's wearing the
- 13:32Speaker 4: old timey striped outfit, but she's still holding the decanter
- 13:35Speaker 4: of coffee. She's still got the coffee pot in her
- 13:38Speaker 4: hand as she's about to eat her brain.
- 13:41Speaker 8: And at least we get to die in a pumpkin patch.
- 13:43Speaker 4: I mean, maybe we can fight our way out of this.
- 13:45Speaker 4: I don't know. Nora, you're scrapper.
- 13:48Speaker 8: That's true.
- 13:49Speaker 4: You can take it.
- 13:50Speaker 8: I can fight.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I feel like we need to stay out of that
- 13:53Speaker 1: house because I'm pretty sure it'll collapse.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure we'll run right in there.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Well, clearly.
- 13:58Speaker 4: And there's a ghost inside.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Well, yeah. I mean, you can't tell me that that's
- 14:02Speaker 1: not haunted.
- 14:03Speaker 4: If you open the door, there's a ghost hanging out
- 14:05Speaker 4: right inside.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Neat.
- 14:06Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 14:08Speaker 3: All right.
- 14:09Speaker 4: In the oldest ongoing tradition of all time. Ooh.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I always forget about this.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Uh-oh.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Are we going to be disgusted this year?
- 14:18Speaker 4: I'm scared. Not necessarily. All right, so candy is the
- 14:22Speaker 4: oldest for all holiday traditions, specifically Halloween. Now, this one
- 14:26Speaker 4: I went with standards first off. You got your Reese
- 14:29Speaker 4: cups with little skull heads on them. This one I
- 14:32Speaker 4: know everyone is disgusted by pumpkin-flavored stuff, so pumpkin-flavored Kit Kats.
- 14:36Speaker 4: In a fancy new Day of the Dead bowl. I
- 14:39Speaker 4: didn't have this last year, so that's fun.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Is that candy corn Kit Kat, or is it just
- 14:44Speaker 1: a different wrapper?
- 14:44Speaker 4: No, I think it's just pumpkin spicy.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Pumpkin pie. Oh, here's what it was. Yeah, I thought
- 14:50Speaker 1: that was.
- 14:51Speaker 4: But those were the standard. That was what we started
- 14:54Speaker 4: off with. But then I was like, well, we need
- 14:55Speaker 4: something else, obviously. Our tradition is trying something gross. Oh, no.
- 15:00Speaker 4: So I saw these and went, oh, God. Well, we
- 15:03Speaker 4: have to have those.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Do I hate you now or later?
- 15:05Speaker 4: All the time.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Have you tried this month's recipe?
- 15:09Speaker 4: Well, that's why I was like, you can hear it
- 15:10Speaker 4: in the wrapper because I didn't open them up. These
- 15:13Speaker 4: are ghoulish green Snickers. Ooh. There's green goo inside.
- 15:18Speaker 8: Ooh.
- 15:19Speaker 6: Now.
- 15:20Speaker 1: What's the tagline on the bag there?
- 15:22Speaker 4: Let's see. Same great taste with ghoulish green nougat.
- 15:26Speaker 8: Well, that's not so bad.
- 15:29Speaker 4: You guys know how you love ghoulish green nougat.
- 15:31Speaker 7: I do.
- 15:31Speaker 8: At least it tastes the same.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Well, then it led me to my other.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Too bad we don't have any ecto coolers to wash
- 15:38Speaker 1: these down.
- 15:40Speaker 4: My other question, because I know sometimes we get into
- 15:42Speaker 4: food items. Are you in fact a lacto-ovo vegetarian?
- 15:51Speaker 8: Yes?
- 15:52Speaker 4: I would hope you knew what it was, because I
- 15:53Speaker 4: really didn't. But I was like, I know there's settings
- 15:56Speaker 4: on this mode.
- 15:57Speaker 8: I think that means I still eat.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Dairy and egg.
- 15:58Speaker 4: It means dairy.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Dairy and egg products.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Look, even the wrappers are green. That's pretty cool. So.
- 16:04Speaker 8: Oh, cute.
- 16:04Speaker 4: If you want to claim something, you can escape from it.
- 16:07Speaker 4: But if you're cool with the dairy.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I am.
- 16:11Speaker 4: We can all partake in this green nougat.
- 16:14Speaker 8: As long as it tastes fun. I don't care how.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Weird it looks. Fine.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Green.
- 16:20Speaker 4: It tastes green.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I'm splitting mine open first because I want to see
- 16:24Speaker 1: the green. Now, this is where my brain is going
- 16:28Speaker 1: to be upset because this nougat looks like it should
- 16:32Speaker 1: be mint flavored. And I know it's not. And I
- 16:36Speaker 1: don't want a mint flavored Snickers.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Wouldn't that be more leprechaun-y? Shouldn't that be like... I
- 16:42Speaker 4: don't know. Or make it peppermint and then it's the
- 16:44Speaker 4: Christmas version, but I think that's a different holiday. Tastes
- 16:48Speaker 4: like a regular Snickers.
- 16:49Speaker 8: Which is what I was hoping.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I'm going to disagree with you guys on that. Because, no,
- 16:54Speaker 1: this is not a bad thing. I feel like there's
- 16:56Speaker 1: more nougat than normal here.
- 16:59Speaker 4: They're showing off.
- 17:00Speaker 1: And fewer peanuts. So this is almost, almost, but not
- 17:06Speaker 1: quite like a Three Musketeers with a hint of peanut
- 17:10Speaker 1: to it. Which is what I've been saying that Three
- 17:13Speaker 1: Musketeers have been missing anyway.
- 17:16Speaker 4: I've never really figured out what the hell's going on
- 17:17Speaker 4: with Three Musketeers. I've eaten them since childhood.
- 17:20Speaker 1: They're deliciously light and fluffy.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I don't, yeah, I don't, they're not my favorite, but
- 17:25Speaker 4: I never was like, ew, gross. I'd still be like, well,
- 17:27Speaker 4: it's a candy bar. I mean, shit. So, but every
- 17:29Speaker 4: time I'm like, what is this exactly?
- 17:32Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 17:33Speaker 4: They just advertise how fluffy it is, but I'm like,
- 17:35Speaker 4: they also act like it's the biggest chocolate bar ever.
- 17:37Speaker 4: I'm like, most of this isn't chocolate, guys.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Very little chocolate.
- 17:41Speaker 4: I always felt there were false advertising on that one
- 17:43Speaker 4: with like stacking it next to like a Hershey bar.
- 17:45Speaker 4: And I'm like, Yeah, but the Hershey bar is all chocolate.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Yours is mostly fluffy crap that may or may not
- 17:51Speaker 4: be nougat.
- 17:51Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 17:53Speaker 4: It's not green, I can tell you that. So there
- 17:56Speaker 4: you go.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Oh, that was delicious.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Candy. We always have to throw in some candy. So,
- 18:02Speaker 4: our normal week in and week out kind of tradition is,
- 18:06Speaker 4: have you seen anything creepy lately? In the meantime, this
- 18:11Speaker 4: is a prop heavy show. Nora also brought a knife.
- 18:14Speaker 8: I did. I brought my Michael Myers stabby knife.
- 18:18Speaker 4: We do need more visual props on this side. As
- 18:22Speaker 4: I unveiled a Lego house and busted out green candy
- 18:25Speaker 4: that you can't see. Making stabby motions.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I appreciate the knife, but you brought it to a
- 18:30Speaker 1: Halloween show and you keep referencing Psycho every time. We
- 18:34Speaker 1: make the stabby noises.
- 18:37Speaker 8: Well, I don't know. Michael Myers doesn't say anything fun
- 18:39Speaker 8: when he's down.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Well, neither did Norman Bates.
- 18:41Speaker 8: That's true. Beep, boop, boop, beep, boop, boop, beep, boop, beep, boop.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I like dead animals. He literally just starts a conversation
- 18:50Speaker 4: while he's... You ever stuff a weasel?
- 18:53Speaker 1: That's great.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I love taxidermy.
- 18:56Speaker 7: Hey, get up.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Come on.
- 19:00Speaker 8: I'm trying to think. I know I've seen a lot
- 19:02Speaker 8: of scary movies lately, but now I can't remember.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Now is the time. More than ever. I mean, every
- 19:08Speaker 4: month is kind of the time, but you know. October,
- 19:11Speaker 4: you gotta step it up. Ooh, I do.
- 19:13Speaker 8: Okay, I remember one. I saw one called Deadstream, which
- 19:17Speaker 8: just came out on Netflix. The aforementioned streaming service.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Is this Al Gore's new documentary on the waterways being polluted?
- 19:26Speaker 8: Dead stream.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Streams are what's killing this planet. We got to stop them.
- 19:31Speaker 8: I think it was a pretty low budget, small team
- 19:35Speaker 8: kind of movie. It's found footage. It's some guy who
- 19:39Speaker 8: was a YouTube star and then got canceled for... I
- 19:42Speaker 8: think he had some prank video and then actually hurt
- 19:45Speaker 8: the person or something like that.
- 19:47Speaker 4: It could be any number of YouTube stars.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Stars.
- 19:51Speaker 8: And it's very self-aware and goofy. So he's not obnoxious.
- 19:56Speaker 1: With a title like Deadstream, I was not expecting digital...
- 20:01Speaker 1: Content I was expecting like zombie fish. Now I'm upset.
- 20:06Speaker 8: It's like live stream, but dead stream.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Oh, I see what they did there.
- 20:10Speaker 4: They were going with like zombie fishing or something. Which actually,
- 20:13Speaker 4: that's a show that could take off.
- 20:16Speaker 8: But he gets like one sponsor to come back. But
- 20:20Speaker 8: in order to get the sponsorship, he has to, like,
- 20:22Speaker 8: go spend the night at this haunted house and stream
- 20:25Speaker 8: the whole time. When does that happen? And, like, can't leave.
- 20:27Speaker 4: I wish that would happen for this show. And if so,
- 20:29Speaker 4: where is our sponsor? I know.
- 20:30Speaker 1: We sign up.
- 20:31Speaker 7: For this show.
- 20:31Speaker 4: We do it. We totally do.
- 20:32Speaker 8: And then it's, like, you know, then spooky stuff happens
- 20:35Speaker 8: and he finds the ghost. But it's really, like... It's
- 20:38Speaker 8: very creative, because when I read the description, I just
- 20:42Speaker 8: threw it on. I was like, it's dumb. I've seen
- 20:44Speaker 8: it before, but I'll just put it on in the background.
- 20:46Speaker 8: But it was really fun, and it was kind of
- 20:48Speaker 8: Evil Dead-y. There were a lot of jump moments. There
- 20:51Speaker 8: were moments where I genuinely yelled. I've seen most things
- 20:56Speaker 8: like that that don't make me like, ah! But it
- 20:59Speaker 8: was really fun.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Dead stream, you say?
- 21:01Speaker 8: Dead stream.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I will have to check that out.
- 21:03Speaker 6: So, yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 8: It looked kind of like your run-of-the-mill found footage kind
- 21:08Speaker 8: of thing, but it surprised me.
- 21:10Speaker 7: Nice.
- 21:13Speaker 4: If you don't have one, I definitely remembered a pretty
- 21:16Speaker 4: recent one. All right, what is up on your list?
- 21:18Speaker 1: I recently sat down, finally, to watch the new Munsters movie. Oh!
- 21:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:25Speaker 7: Yep.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Speaking of Halloween, there's our old pal Rob Zombie.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I will say this. I did not hate it. Like,
- 21:34Speaker 1: a lot of people.
- 21:35Speaker 4: I mean, everybody got so up in arms just when
- 21:37Speaker 4: that first trailer came out. And, like, I'm looking at
- 21:40Speaker 4: it going, yeah, it looks dorky. But, I mean, have
- 21:43Speaker 4: you watched The Monster?
- 21:44Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Don't get me wrong. I love that show. I grew
- 21:47Speaker 4: up on that show. And I understand why people would
- 21:49Speaker 4: get so precious about it. But, like, when I see
- 21:52Speaker 4: them doing their impression of them, I'm like, I mean,
- 21:55Speaker 4: they're still kind of doing that same goofy thing that
- 21:57Speaker 4: they did on the TV show. I don't know how
- 22:00Speaker 4: you can be this upset. You can be like, maybe
- 22:02Speaker 4: I don't like these actors that are doing it. Except
- 22:04Speaker 4: Daniel Roebuck is pretty awesome. But the other two, if
- 22:07Speaker 4: you want to get mad at them, okay. But I
- 22:10Speaker 4: was just like, they're not that far off. Have you
- 22:12Speaker 4: seen it? How can you be mad? No, I have
- 22:13Speaker 4: not watched the entire movie. Just the trailer.
- 22:17Speaker 1: It is not the worst movie I've ever seen. It
- 22:20Speaker 1: falls flat pretty much everywhere.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Right.
- 22:25Speaker 1: And there's a lot of choices that make zero sense.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Like they show the creation of Herman Munster, which really
- 22:33Speaker 1: didn't need.
- 22:34Speaker 4: We kind of get it, but all right.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But they do the whole classic Frankenstein switch up. We're like, oh,
- 22:39Speaker 1: the brain of this genius that we're going to use
- 22:41Speaker 1: gets destroyed. So let's use the brain of this other
- 22:44Speaker 1: guy who turns out to be a stand-up comedian. So
- 22:49Speaker 1: now we've explained why Herman is so silly.
- 22:51Speaker 4: I guess.
- 22:53Speaker 1: But then... Instead of making him a stand-up comedian, they
- 22:57Speaker 1: put him in a rock band, which looks cool. But
- 23:02Speaker 1: it's him and like two or three zombies on the
- 23:05Speaker 1: other instruments. And it looks amazing.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Okay.
- 23:07Speaker 1: But it's like you're not even following what you've already
- 23:10Speaker 1: established in this movie. And then we get to the
- 23:13Speaker 1: end of it. Oh, and by the way, a lot
- 23:14Speaker 1: of people were talking smack about Sherry Moon Zombie before.
- 23:18Speaker 1: play Lily Munster, but she did a fine job.
- 23:21Speaker 4: See, that's the thing. She can do what she does
- 23:24Speaker 4: really well. I don't know that she's got a whole
- 23:26Speaker 4: lot of potential to play other types of roles, but
- 23:30Speaker 4: sometimes he uses her really well. It does get ridiculous
- 23:33Speaker 4: that she's in every movie, but he married her. What
- 23:37Speaker 4: are you going to do? You've got to support the household.
- 23:39Speaker 4: It's twice as much income coming in.
- 23:42Speaker 1: And then the movie just goes on for a while,
- 23:44Speaker 1: and then just sort of stops like there's no real
- 23:48Speaker 1: ending it's just like that movie's over see you.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Later weird but see that that what you just said
- 23:54Speaker 4: is like right on track with everything i've said about
- 23:57Speaker 4: all these movies because i've had so many problems with
- 24:00Speaker 4: a lot of rob zombie stuff and i know the
- 24:02Speaker 4: internet's full of people with that but i think so
- 24:04Speaker 4: much of it comes back to that he's so obsessed
- 24:07Speaker 4: with his own stuff yeah that like he's beyond self-indulgent
- 24:12Speaker 4: as a director and it's like you've got to at
- 24:13Speaker 4: least make things serviceable for an audience like unless you
- 24:18Speaker 4: just want this to be like your really expensive hobby
- 24:21Speaker 4: you know this is this side project of like here's
- 24:23Speaker 4: what i want to do is make this stuff that's
- 24:25Speaker 4: exactly the things i like i'm like okay but it
- 24:28Speaker 4: still should be functional story-wise.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah i mean the whole movie is the the whole
- 24:32Speaker 1: movie serves as a prequel for the tv show yeah
- 24:36Speaker 1: because it's before the kids and yeah because there's no
- 24:41Speaker 1: there's no eddie there's no maryland yeah um It's just
- 24:45Speaker 1: them hanging out in Transylvania. It shows how they find Spot,
- 24:49Speaker 1: which was.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Kind of cute. That could be fun, yeah.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Except they actually show you what Spot looks like, which
- 24:54Speaker 1: kind of kills the whole thing.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I liked the way he was presented on the show.
- 24:58Speaker 1: They get chased out of Transylvania, not by the way
- 25:01Speaker 1: you would normally think monsters.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Would get chased out of Transylvania.
- 25:05Speaker 1: No torches and pitchforks?
- 25:05Speaker 3: No.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Well, no, and... Then they wind up in America and
- 25:10Speaker 1: they find the house, the famous house that they live in.
- 25:13Speaker 4: 1313.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And then the movie's done. Sequel. I guess.
- 25:20Speaker 4: And again.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Was it the worst movie I've ever seen? No. Was
- 25:24Speaker 1: it the best movie I've ever seen?
- 25:26Speaker 3: Not even close.
- 25:27Speaker 4: The things I've heard about it that were positive were
- 25:30Speaker 4: the things I've always said about Rob Zombie. Visually.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Oh, visually it looks great.
- 25:34Speaker 4: And that's what... Yeah, they're like, everything's lit and green
- 25:36Speaker 4: and it looks amazing if you're a horror dork. And
- 25:39Speaker 4: I'm just like, yeah, that's what he does.
- 25:40Speaker 1: My one complaint about visually of the movie is it's
- 25:44Speaker 1: a little too high def.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Like, it was shot on a really nice but amateur...
- 25:51Speaker 1: quality camera um the lighting's good the the props are
- 25:55Speaker 1: great um.
- 25:58Speaker 4: It's probably just shit from his house it's nothing but
- 26:03Speaker 4: a collector dork with a lot of money.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Uh the makeup amazing yeah the uh the another thing
- 26:09Speaker 1: about it is it's full of jokes which is fine
- 26:13Speaker 1: But none of the jokes are, like, laugh out loud. Like,
- 26:15Speaker 1: even the ones that landed, I was just kind of like, oh, okay.
- 26:18Speaker 4: That's about it. Like, is he known for joke writing?
- 26:22Speaker 8: No, he's not.
- 26:23Speaker 4: You know, I was like, he can sort of skate
- 26:25Speaker 4: by as a horror director because at least he's really
- 26:28Speaker 4: into horror. Again, I think he's more self-indulgent than he
- 26:31Speaker 4: needs to be. But still, like.
- 26:33Speaker 1: But I saw what he was going for. He was
- 26:35Speaker 1: trying to be silly, which was fine.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Which is not his normal thing.
- 26:38Speaker 1: The show is silly.
- 26:39Speaker 4: Good to branch out.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And it's hard to be silly on purpose and make
- 26:43Speaker 1: it good.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 26:47Speaker 4: I will still probably eventually get to it. You know,
- 26:50Speaker 4: check it out.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Give it a shot.
- 26:52Speaker 4: I've pushed off a lot of his later movies.
- 26:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 4: These last several. One of which I bought a copy
- 26:58Speaker 4: of and got about five minutes.
- 26:59Speaker 7: In and went, no.
- 27:00Speaker 4: I need to stop for a minute. Like it was
- 27:02Speaker 4: already so self-indulgent. I was just like, I'm just going
- 27:05Speaker 4: to save this for an episode. Like then I'll have
- 27:07Speaker 4: a reason to watch it because right now I cannot
- 27:10Speaker 4: give myself enough reason to keep going. I get really
- 27:13Speaker 4: frustrated with him as a director.
- 27:14Speaker 1: The soundtrack was great.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Again, I agree with most of his things that he's
- 27:20Speaker 4: into because he put together that compilation of like it's
- 27:23Speaker 4: Halloween Hootenanny and like I bought that. It's a great album.
- 27:26Speaker 4: So like he can pick other songs that are really cool.
- 27:29Speaker 4: And like, that's so many things he does. I think
- 27:32Speaker 4: he's good at, but like, it's the way he does
- 27:35Speaker 4: it and puts them together in his movies. A lot
- 27:36Speaker 4: of times I'm like, it just rubs me the wrong way.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I will give him, I will give him credit. It's
- 27:41Speaker 1: obvious that you can tell that he loves the source
- 27:44Speaker 1: material that he's working with.
- 27:45Speaker 4: And that's, that's cool. I like that. I just, again,
- 27:49Speaker 4: it's the delivery system through him that somehow messes things
- 27:52Speaker 4: up for me.
- 27:53Speaker 8: But yeah, Yeah, I wish he had a really good
- 27:56Speaker 8: writing partner.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:58Speaker 8: Someone who, because he does visually great stuff, but he
- 28:01Speaker 8: needs someone to be like, this doesn't make sense.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Did he write this? I don't know.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Because I almost feel like the version of the screenplay
- 28:09Speaker 1: that we get in the movie, if whoever had written
- 28:13Speaker 1: that had taken that and then given it to somebody else,
- 28:16Speaker 1: given it to a fresh set of eyes to go over,
- 28:20Speaker 1: it would have made a huge difference.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Yeah. But that's what I've said all along with a
- 28:24Speaker 4: lot of directors these days. But in general with him,
- 28:29Speaker 4: I remember specifically, and we'll come back to this later,
- 28:31Speaker 4: but like the Halloween stuff, there's so much of that
- 28:35Speaker 4: that I was like, visuals. Like some of that stuff
- 28:38Speaker 4: in Halloween 2 is phenomenal to look at. And then
- 28:41Speaker 4: the plot happens, you know? I was just like, you
- 28:43Speaker 4: need just the... To interrupt myself, yes, he co-wrote. So
- 28:49Speaker 4: he did have somebody else, but it's... rob zombie and
- 28:52Speaker 4: norm liebman and based on characters developed by ed haas
- 28:56Speaker 4: right old school version but yeah those he co-wrote which
- 29:00Speaker 4: again i'm like maybe you just don't need to write
- 29:02Speaker 4: any of this just hand it off and let somebody
- 29:05Speaker 4: else do it but i do really like daniel roebuck
- 29:09Speaker 4: and everything i've seen i follow him on facebook or
- 29:12Speaker 4: whatever and he keeps posting stuff and like He seemed
- 29:15Speaker 4: so thrilled to be part of this in general. Which
- 29:17Speaker 4: one was Daniel Robo? The grandpa. Oh, okay. He was good.
- 29:20Speaker 4: And that's the thing. He's just like, this is like
- 29:22Speaker 4: my dream come true. Like, he's the biggest monster kid ever.
- 29:25Speaker 4: And he's just like, this was all I've ever wanted,
- 29:27Speaker 4: you know? So it's like, yeah, it's like super cool
- 29:30Speaker 4: that he got to do this. I wish it was
- 29:32Speaker 4: a better version. You know, whatever. He's he's friends with
- 29:35Speaker 4: rob zombie so like it's awesome that he got to
- 29:38Speaker 4: do this mine i it was a one-two punch and
- 29:43Speaker 4: it happened because of part two but um i revisited
- 29:47Speaker 4: one of my favorite movies from my ute um have
- 29:51Speaker 4: you seen the original the hitcher Not the dumb remake
- 29:55Speaker 4: that just happened, which I'm only saying. I haven't even
- 29:58Speaker 4: watched it, so I don't know. It could be functional.
- 30:01Speaker 4: But I was just such a big fan of the original.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Notice he said functional. Not good, not great, not okay.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Again, I'm already biased. But that first one, it was
- 30:11Speaker 4: one of those things I saw as a kid on
- 30:13Speaker 4: cable that I probably didn't need to be watching. And
- 30:15Speaker 4: then I recorded it because I thought it was so awesome. So, yeah,
- 30:19Speaker 4: I just watched it a ton more. growing up and
- 30:23Speaker 4: like really loved how like weird and over the top
- 30:27Speaker 4: this this crazy version of this hitchhiker story is because
- 30:31Speaker 4: it's similar to most of your hitchhiker horror stories but
- 30:35Speaker 4: like maybe up a notch it's rutger howard who is
- 30:39Speaker 4: amazing yeah yeah i mean rutger howard anything is amazing.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Same thing i watched it on cable when i should not.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Have been and like he's so good at being this
- 30:48Speaker 4: like creepy detached weird guy and like he's that's what
- 30:52Speaker 4: he does best he's rocker howard but also like see
- 30:55Speaker 4: thomas howell at that point was so i forgot like
- 30:58Speaker 4: watching it again i'm like he's so young like he's
- 31:00Speaker 4: such a clean-cut kid that you're just like oh man
- 31:03Speaker 4: i feel so bad for this kid because he's thrown
- 31:05Speaker 4: in the middle of all this insanity and jennifer jason
- 31:08Speaker 4: lee's in it and adorable and super great and like
- 31:11Speaker 4: so all that stuff comes together The reason I went
- 31:14Speaker 4: back and rewatched it, I mean, other than I remembered
- 31:16Speaker 4: it being great, but what prompted me to was I
- 31:18Speaker 4: picked up, as I've said many a time, I buy
- 31:20Speaker 4: a lot of dumb DVDs for nothing. I ran into
- 31:24Speaker 4: a copy of The Hitcher 2.
- 31:26Speaker 8: Oh.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Which happened.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I didn't know existed until just a few minutes ago. Wait, what?
- 31:31Speaker 4: Not the dumb remake?
- 31:32Speaker 1: Oh, man, I forgot. I forgot just how dreamy C.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Thomas Howell was.
- 31:35Speaker 4: See what I'm saying? Especially now, because have you seen
- 31:38Speaker 4: him lately? He has a crazy old man beard now.
- 31:41Speaker 1: He's got the... If you've noticed this as well, let
- 31:46Speaker 1: me know. But it seems like since whatever the second
- 31:52Speaker 1: newest Star Wars movie was, it seems like there's a
- 31:54Speaker 1: lot of guys that age that are adopting the grizzled
- 31:58Speaker 1: hermit Skywalker look.
- 32:00Speaker 4: He wanted to be lettered.
- 32:01Speaker 1: This is what he looks like now.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Oh.
- 32:04Speaker 1: And not a bad looking guy, but just crazy looking.
- 32:07Speaker 4: But yeah, it looks, again, it's the Letterman look now.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Like once he got off TV, he's like just growing
- 32:12Speaker 4: a crazy old man beard.
- 32:13Speaker 1: But that's what he looked like in The Hitcher.
- 32:15Speaker 4: See, he's adorable.
- 32:16Speaker 8: He's cute.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Look at him. So yeah, I love the original movie.
- 32:20Speaker 4: Had no idea. Maybe I knew and forgot, but like
- 32:24Speaker 4: in my current mind, had no idea there was a sequel.
- 32:27Speaker 4: So I pick it up and I'm like, well, I'm
- 32:29Speaker 4: going to have to, because it did have him in it.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I was like, wait, so. see Thomas Howell came back
- 32:33Speaker 4: to do this. Like that's weird. So, um, yeah, the
- 32:38Speaker 4: one side I was like, well then I need to
- 32:39Speaker 4: rewatch it. Cause it's been years since I watched the
- 32:41Speaker 4: first one. I watched the first one, man. It is awesome.
- 32:44Speaker 4: At times almost moves into action because there's car chase
- 32:49Speaker 4: stuff that happens. And I'm like, how did they even
- 32:51Speaker 4: like for a low budget movie? Like there's some impressive
- 32:54Speaker 4: car stunt stuff going on. And I'm like, that's awesome.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Like I didn't even remember how elaborate some of that
- 33:00Speaker 4: stuff gets. But, yeah, there's just every time you think, see,
- 33:05Speaker 4: Thomas Howell couldn't get screwed more, this evil bastard finds
- 33:08Speaker 4: a way to take it up a notch. So, like, that,
- 33:11Speaker 4: revisiting that, so much fun. The second one. What a
- 33:16Speaker 4: weird idea.
- 33:17Speaker 8: What's the plot?
- 33:19Speaker 1: So, it kind of happens again. Hitchhiker with a shotgun.
- 33:22Speaker 8: Yeah, he just comes back.
- 33:23Speaker 4: He comes, it's like. It's the amount of time it
- 33:26Speaker 4: had been. Let me double check on the year.
- 33:29Speaker 1: 86 was the first one.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it was 86. Let me look it up and
- 33:34Speaker 4: make sure. Because it's way later.
- 33:38Speaker 8: Not everything needs a sequel.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 4: If it weren't for sequels, we wouldn't be.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Sitting here today.
- 33:45Speaker 8: Exactly my point.
- 33:47Speaker 4: This wasn't even the time of let's reboot everything. It
- 33:49Speaker 4: was that early. It was a random ass sequel. Let
- 33:53Speaker 4: me see what year.
- 33:56Speaker 9: 2003.
- 33:57Speaker 4: What? So I guess the wave of, you know, that
- 34:01Speaker 4: 2000s new blood horror coming along and they went, well,
- 34:05Speaker 4: let's find a way to tap into this old one,
- 34:07Speaker 4: but kind of do a new thing. But it makes
- 34:11Speaker 4: no sense. There's so many times, again, like I can
- 34:14Speaker 4: go along with Farfetch'd. I can, again, if you pull
- 34:17Speaker 4: a diehard move, And you go, how can the same
- 34:20Speaker 4: shit be happening to the same guy? It makes it okay.
- 34:22Speaker 4: You're just like, all right, you've acknowledged this is ridiculous,
- 34:25Speaker 4: that it happens again, and it's all right. But there
- 34:28Speaker 4: are times when they very obviously try to make it
- 34:34Speaker 4: seem like this new hitchhiker character, which, by the way,
- 34:37Speaker 4: played by Jake Busey. Don't get me wrong, I love
- 34:40Speaker 4: some Jake Busey.
- 34:42Speaker 1: But for the wrong reasons.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, that is a weird move from Rutger
- 34:46Speaker 4: Hauer to Jake Busey. And then... At times they hint
- 34:51Speaker 4: at the fact that it's the same guy. Even though
- 34:55Speaker 4: we know it's not. And they don't explain how it
- 34:58Speaker 4: could be or why it would be.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Oh my.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Did you get the car yet?
- 35:03Speaker 1: No.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Because it's really.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I'm on the Hitcher 2 Wikipedia page. And what you've
- 35:07Speaker 1: left out but makes sense compared to everything that you
- 35:11Speaker 1: just said. The full title of this movie is The
- 35:14Speaker 1: Hitcher 2 I've Been Waiting.
- 35:17Speaker 4: And don't worry. They work that line in and it
- 35:21Speaker 4: doesn't make any damn sense when it gets used. And
- 35:25Speaker 4: then later they come back to things about it sort
- 35:28Speaker 4: of maybe and they don't explain them. It is so
- 35:31Speaker 4: ridiculous that I'm just like there. And again, there are
- 35:33Speaker 4: moments that are functional. Back to my word that work
- 35:37Speaker 4: as an action movie work as a horror ish kind
- 35:40Speaker 4: of movie. Um, luckily I'm at least enough of a
- 35:43Speaker 4: dork that I like Kari worse. So like it is
- 35:46Speaker 4: kind of a Kari vehicle more than anything. So yeah,
- 35:50Speaker 4: she comes in as the new person that, uh, see
- 35:54Speaker 4: Thomas Howell is with. And a lot of what goes
- 35:57Speaker 4: on becomes about her. So the, I, I.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I know all of the words in this description. This
- 36:05Speaker 1: makes no sense.
- 36:07Speaker 4: I mean, it is, if you like the first one,
- 36:10Speaker 4: normally I say if you like the first one, just
- 36:11Speaker 4: don't go there. Leave it alone. To me, if you
- 36:13Speaker 4: like the first one, or if you need to watch
- 36:16Speaker 4: the first one so that you can get to this ridiculous,
- 36:18Speaker 4: please do. Because the first one's awesome. But just to
- 36:21Speaker 4: watch the second one and go, wait, who said to
- 36:25Speaker 4: do this? Like, why would you? And you have to,
- 36:28Speaker 4: you can't just not explain this part. And they don't.
- 36:31Speaker 4: They just don't.
- 36:31Speaker 8: They don't care.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Is there any overlap between? cast and crew apart from C.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Thomas Howe in the two movies.
- 36:40Speaker 4: One of the cops that is the one that tries
- 36:43Speaker 4: to help him more than most because most of what
- 36:46Speaker 4: happens in the first one is the cops just think
- 36:48Speaker 4: he keeps doing all this stuff. Sure. So eventually there's
- 36:50Speaker 4: one that like starts to be like oh I think
- 36:52Speaker 4: something weird is going on here. That guy is still
- 36:54Speaker 4: around and like is sort of the tying like he
- 36:57Speaker 4: calls him up and is like hey man I'm going
- 36:59Speaker 4: through some shit. He's still got PTSD essentially. He's trying
- 37:03Speaker 4: to carry on with his life as a normal person
- 37:05Speaker 4: but He's still got a lot of issues he's dealing with.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Nope, different director, different writer.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. Just kind of a cash-in, which I can see
- 37:15Speaker 4: them doing, but that's what I thought was weird that C.
- 37:17Speaker 4: Thomas Howell came back for it. So I'm like, well,
- 37:20Speaker 4: then maybe it's at least an interesting story, which I
- 37:23Speaker 4: guess to some extent it is, but it is a
- 37:25Speaker 4: weird way to take it. Anyway, yeah, that's what I watched.
- 37:33Speaker 4: One and two. Have not gotten to the reboot yet.
- 37:36Speaker 4: I guess I will eventually.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Speaking of revisiting things, that same night that I watched
- 37:40Speaker 1: The Munsters, I also went back and watched the Jeff
- 37:43Speaker 1: Goldblum version of The Fly.
- 37:45Speaker 4: That holds up.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Which holds up really well.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Cronenberg knows what he's doing, man.
- 37:50Speaker 1: You know, I sat down to watch it with a
- 37:52Speaker 1: group of people and some people there had never seen it.
- 37:56Speaker 1: So I mentioned, oh, it's a David Cronenberg movie. And
- 37:58Speaker 1: they were like, whoever heard that was like, oh man,
- 38:01Speaker 1: what am I getting into? And I was like, Well,
- 38:03Speaker 1: it's really kind of tame for his stuff. And then
- 38:05Speaker 1: I watched it and I was like, it's tame for
- 38:07Speaker 1: his stuff, but not for other mainstream movies.
- 38:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 38:11Speaker 4: It's sort of maybe the most Cronenberg-y. What's weird is.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's spread out.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Speaking of weird sequels, I went back in the last
- 38:21Speaker 4: year and rewatched The Fly 2, Son of the Fly, whatever.
- 38:27Speaker 4: It's actually, again, it's pretty good. good for what it
- 38:31Speaker 4: is like it's certainly not gonna be david cronenberg because
- 38:34Speaker 4: he did not come back obviously but it's it's interesting
- 38:38Speaker 4: what they do and then as they get into the
- 38:40Speaker 4: creature effects type stuff i'm like oh maybe this is
- 38:42Speaker 4: the most cronenbergian thing ever with no cronenberg involved because
- 38:47Speaker 4: the as now rick and morty use the term cronenbergian
- 38:51Speaker 4: as a thing the thing comes into play a lot
- 38:55Speaker 4: in that movie so i'm just like oh this is
- 38:58Speaker 4: very cronenbergian without cronenberg So, yeah, The Fly 2.
- 39:02Speaker 1: It's watchable.
- 39:04Speaker 4: That's a nice young Eric Stoltz movie.
- 39:08Speaker 8: Oh, I thought of one more.
- 39:09Speaker 7: Okay.
- 39:09Speaker 1: All right.
- 39:10Speaker 4: What do you got?
- 39:10Speaker 8: Since we're on the topic of The Fly and things,
- 39:14Speaker 8: I finally watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Original issue.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Wow, what'd you think?
- 39:19Speaker 4: OG.
- 39:21Speaker 8: There's something about that movie that really unsettled me.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Yes.
- 39:24Speaker 8: It's unnerving. Like, I felt nauseous the entire time I
- 39:27Speaker 8: was watching it. Like, I thought I might throw up.
- 39:29Speaker 7: It's unnerving.
- 39:30Speaker 8: It was I don't know why.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Because it's one of those I don't like want to
- 39:34Speaker 4: revisit it kind of love it like I respect it
- 39:37Speaker 4: more than anything exactly like I respect what it did
- 39:39Speaker 4: and how early it did it once again like like
- 39:42Speaker 4: the thing we were talking about earlier like it was
- 39:44Speaker 4: groundbreaking in ways that we weren't even prepared for horror
- 39:47Speaker 4: movie wise like well before any of your slashers came along.
- 39:51Speaker 4: They did that, and not for that reason, because there
- 39:54Speaker 4: was no slasher genre. So it was just a weird movie. Yeah.
- 39:59Speaker 1: What I love about it is, given its subject, given
- 40:01Speaker 1: what the plot is about, there's almost, almost no gore
- 40:06Speaker 1: in that movie.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:08Speaker 1: And it's still terrifying, and like you said, disturbing.
- 40:10Speaker 8: Awful, yeah.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Because you walk away.
- 40:12Speaker 4: From it going.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Is that going to happen to me tomorrow?
- 40:16Speaker 4: I know.
- 40:16Speaker 8: It's so dirty and mean. Another reason why I don't
- 40:18Speaker 8: go to Texas.
- 40:20Speaker 4: It is great.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Mean is a good way to describe it.
- 40:23Speaker 8: It's just a mean movie.
- 40:25Speaker 4: I think that's why I don't like to revisit it.
- 40:27Speaker 4: I've watched it once or twice in the last 20
- 40:30Speaker 4: years or more. It's because once you get into it,
- 40:33Speaker 4: the setup is really cool, but once you get in
- 40:36Speaker 4: there and you deal with the family... They're all so horrible.
- 40:40Speaker 4: Leatherface is the charming one of the bunch. Everybody else
- 40:43Speaker 4: is just so terrible.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Every time I watch it, I feel just a little
- 40:47Speaker 1: bit more compassion towards Leatherface.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 40:50Speaker 1: And for what he's going through.
- 40:52Speaker 4: It's such a mess. He has no control over this.
- 40:56Speaker 4: He was forced into this life, essentially.
- 40:58Speaker 1: There's a scene that always freaks me out, and it's...
- 41:03Speaker 1: I don't remember what leads up to it, but basically
- 41:06Speaker 1: Leatherface has screwed something up and he's getting yelled at
- 41:09Speaker 1: by the, by the old guy. And he has like
- 41:11Speaker 1: a freak out moment. And then he just, he sits
- 41:14Speaker 1: like on the edge of a chair and he's like
- 41:17Speaker 1: rubbing his head. And then he just looks right into
- 41:19Speaker 1: the camera and there's nothing behind his eyes. And it's
- 41:24Speaker 1: just so terrifying. It's unnerving.
- 41:28Speaker 4: And that's what I realized. Like that's so much of
- 41:29Speaker 4: what's weird and raw about that movie is like it,
- 41:32Speaker 4: It's unnerving and it makes you feel creepy and grimy
- 41:35Speaker 4: and gross.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:36Speaker 4: That's the part that's held up so amazingly well. Yeah.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Well, and the fact that the big critics of the day,
- 41:44Speaker 1: We're like, this is actually a well put together movie
- 41:46Speaker 1: and it is like more terrifying and better made than
- 41:50Speaker 1: it needs to be.
- 41:50Speaker 4: And made for nothing. Like you look at that, like
- 41:53Speaker 4: they were skating by on no budget. And like it doesn't, again,
- 41:57Speaker 4: because of the nature of the grossness of the movie,
- 42:00Speaker 4: like all you need is a house falling down. Like
- 42:02Speaker 4: that's pretty much it. So like once you got that.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Just cover everything in grime. Throw a lot of flies
- 42:07Speaker 4: in there. Make it 900 degrees because you're in Texas.
- 42:10Speaker 1: That's what everybody forgets about that movie. It's Texas in
- 42:13Speaker 1: the summer.
- 42:14Speaker 4: They were shooting and Leatherface is in that freaking mask.
- 42:17Speaker 1: All those scenes where they're in the van just had
- 42:21Speaker 1: to be torture because of the heat. But then, yeah,
- 42:25Speaker 1: then you add in the rotten smells and everything that
- 42:29Speaker 1: we as the viewer don't pick up on. But the last...
- 42:32Speaker 1: Day of filming, they were so far behind, they did
- 42:35Speaker 1: a 24-hour shoot. Oh, God. And, yeah, it drove.
- 42:39Speaker 4: People insane, basically. Well, and then you get to the
- 42:44Speaker 4: funny thing as you look back on it now and
- 42:46Speaker 4: the thing that it's known for and the thing that's
- 42:48Speaker 4: in the title. Were you expecting more chainsaw murder?
- 42:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:52Speaker 4: Because we get one. We get one. Granted, he's the
- 42:55Speaker 4: most annoying character in the damn movie. I know we're
- 42:58Speaker 4: probably supposed to feel bad for him, but we don't.
- 43:00Speaker 1: I don't feel bad.
- 43:01Speaker 4: He's obnoxious.
- 43:01Speaker 1: I don't feel bad for Franklin.
- 43:03Speaker 8: No, he was the worst.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I feel bad for Sally.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 1: She's the only character that I... Well, that and the
- 43:08Speaker 1: girl when they open the freezer, she's sort of still alive.
- 43:12Speaker 1: I feel bad for her.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:13Speaker 1: But I feel really bad for Sally. Because her life
- 43:17Speaker 1: after that day had to be just.
- 43:19Speaker 4: How do you deal with that? Not great. But yeah,
- 43:23Speaker 4: that's what I later went back and was like, wait,
- 43:26Speaker 4: it's mostly bludgeoning. This could be the Texas bludgeoning murder massacre.
- 43:31Speaker 4: He just mostly bludgeons people. And then the one jerk,
- 43:35Speaker 4: he takes him out with the chainsaw.
- 43:36Speaker 1: He saws Franklin in half and he cuts his own
- 43:39Speaker 1: leg off.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Yeah, he swings it around and does his cool dance.
- 43:42Speaker 4: But other than that, it's mostly bludgeoning.
- 43:45Speaker 8: Yeah it was i mean i'm glad i watched.
- 43:50Speaker 4: It had you seen any of the sequel prequel crazy
- 43:53Speaker 4: bullshit that's happened.
- 43:54Speaker 10: Because i've lost i don't think there's so many other
- 43:57Speaker 10: like i knew the original four run back in the
- 44:00Speaker 10: vhs kind of days but since then like i remembered
- 44:03Speaker 10: the remake i saw that from that point on i've
- 44:05Speaker 10: lost track because they have done A prequel to that
- 44:09Speaker 10: and then another prequel since then and then another remake
- 44:12Speaker 10: and another remake.
- 44:12Speaker 1: There's at least two remakes and at least two prequels.
- 44:16Speaker 4: Because then they do that weird 3D one that was
- 44:18Speaker 4: also a remake. I can't keep track.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Well, there's prequels to the original one. I think there's
- 44:25Speaker 1: two of those. There's prequels to at least one of
- 44:33Speaker 1: the remakes.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Original sequel prequels?
- 44:36Speaker 1: And as the movies go on, they made what I
- 44:39Speaker 1: feel like is a huge mistake starting with part two.
- 44:42Speaker 1: They started to develop Leatherface's character.
- 44:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:46Speaker 1: And it makes him less terrifying.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Well, yeah. I mean, by the fourth one, he is
- 44:51Speaker 4: a joke.
- 44:51Speaker 7: Yes.
- 44:52Speaker 4: He is completely silly.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Wait, is the fourth one the Matthew McConaughey one?
- 44:59Speaker 4: Yes, which don't get me wrong. I'm not saying don't
- 45:02Speaker 4: watch that because it is a joy.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Matthew McConaughey is amazing. He's a madman.
- 45:08Speaker 8: Is that the one with him and Renee Zellweger?
- 45:10Speaker 1: Yes, it is.
- 45:11Speaker 4: She is entertaining, but not near the level of insanity
- 45:16Speaker 4: that is Matthew McConaughey. Oh my God. It is so
- 45:20Speaker 4: much fun because of him.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Part three has my favorite joke in the entire series
- 45:24Speaker 1: because Leatherface has one of those old speaking spells and
- 45:28Speaker 1: it shows a picture of a clown and he's supposed
- 45:32Speaker 1: to type in what it is. Well, you see him
- 45:34Speaker 1: type F-O-O-D and the speaking spell is like, that's incorrect.
- 45:39Speaker 1: So he types it in again, and the more he
- 45:41Speaker 1: types it in, and the more the speaking spells like
- 45:43Speaker 1: this incorrect, the madder he gets.
- 45:45Speaker 8: Oh, my goodness.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Oh, it's so great.
- 45:47Speaker 4: I haven't watched Leatherface slash the third one in, like, again,
- 45:50Speaker 4: I think I saw it one time years ago.
- 45:53Speaker 1: I know everybody loves part two, which I didn't care for.
- 45:57Speaker 4: It was okay. Again, I haven't seen it in a
- 45:58Speaker 4: long time, but at the time, I loved it again
- 46:01Speaker 4: because of one reason. insane cast member you add Dennis
- 46:04Speaker 4: Hopper to anything and I'm gonna love it who disappears
- 46:08Speaker 4: for about a half an hour which again is a
- 46:10Speaker 4: problem with any movie you need more Dennis Hopper especially
- 46:13Speaker 4: insane Dennis Hopper so yeah for that reason two and
- 46:18Speaker 4: four have great special cast members that make it worth
- 46:22Speaker 4: watching even if like story wise they don't make any
- 46:24Speaker 4: damn sense.
- 46:25Speaker 8: But I feel like that would, yeah, make it better
- 46:28Speaker 8: to watch and feel less like.
- 46:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:30Speaker 8: Because the first one just felt so real and it's
- 46:33Speaker 8: like you don't recognize any of the people and it just.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Yeah. And it is weird.
- 46:36Speaker 8: So I think throwing that in might help me a
- 46:38Speaker 8: little bit.
- 46:39Speaker 4: It is weird still having that same director, but like
- 46:42Speaker 4: he just loosened it up and was like, we're going
- 46:45Speaker 4: to have fun and we want to make a comedy
- 46:46Speaker 4: this time, kind of.
- 46:48Speaker 1: At one point he said that the first one is
- 46:52Speaker 1: full of jokes that nobody picks up on. And he
- 46:56Speaker 1: was disappointed by that. So he's like, screw it.
- 46:58Speaker 4: This next one is going to be Aldrich. We're turning
- 47:00Speaker 4: up the comedy. Again, that's one of the more inspired
- 47:05Speaker 4: roles of Bill Moseley. So another reason to watch because
- 47:09Speaker 4: he is, if there's something creepy going on there, it's
- 47:12Speaker 4: Bill Moseley more than Leatherface. But yeah, he is very
- 47:15Speaker 4: entertaining in his role as well.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Watch part two while part one is fresh in your mind.
- 47:23Speaker 1: There's a couple of references that you'll you'll need to remember.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Totally different beast.
- 47:28Speaker 4: Yeah, tone-wise, you'll be safe. It's not creepy like the
- 47:32Speaker 4: first one. It's fun and over the top.
- 47:35Speaker 1: You'll either walk away thinking that's one of the funniest
- 47:37Speaker 1: movies I've ever seen, funniest gory movies I've ever seen,
- 47:40Speaker 1: or you'll walk away going, what the hell?
- 47:42Speaker 4: Well, I mean, you've seen the poster of the second one,
- 47:44Speaker 4: haven't you? Okay, go ahead and bring it up. I
- 47:48Speaker 4: don't know. Because it's not like he was pretending to
- 47:50Speaker 4: do something else with the movie. The poster itself is
- 47:54Speaker 4: a joke. So he should have clued everybody. I don't
- 47:57Speaker 4: think people realized it at first either. Like, I think
- 47:59Speaker 4: they're like, oh, look at that. But like.
- 48:04Speaker 1: It's actually an amazing poster.
- 48:06Speaker 4: It's brilliant. I will give them, especially at the time.
- 48:09Speaker 1: It's very, before I show it to you, I will
- 48:12Speaker 1: say this. It's very Breakfast Club.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:18Speaker 8: Oh my.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Like, exactly. Like, it went out of their way. to
- 48:23Speaker 4: do it.
- 48:24Speaker 8: Now I do vaguely remember seeing that.
- 48:27Speaker 4: I mean, it's exactly laid out just like The Breakfast Club.
- 48:33Speaker 8: That's funny.
- 48:35Speaker 4: I mean, it came out with that poster. It was
- 48:37Speaker 4: a joke from day one. What a weird turn. Again,
- 48:42Speaker 4: horror fans didn't pick up on it right away.
- 48:44Speaker 1: People love it now, though.
- 48:46Speaker 4: It's got a huge cult following now.
- 48:48Speaker 1: What's funny is I never... piece together how exactly oh
- 48:52Speaker 1: yeah it is exact i just always thought oh they're
- 48:55Speaker 1: ripping off they're kind of ripping it off now that
- 48:57Speaker 1: i see it i'm like oh my god it is
- 48:59Speaker 1: exact it is hilarious wouldn't it be great though if
- 49:04Speaker 1: part two came out before the breakfast.
- 49:06Speaker 4: Club they were like you know that texas chainsaw sequel
- 49:13Speaker 4: that's what i'm thinking for our poster that's the vibe
- 49:16Speaker 4: that's the yeah you know molly ringwald she's kind of
- 49:18Speaker 4: leather facey you know all get it.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Alright, so everybody remember this date? Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part
- 49:25Speaker 1: 2 came out August 22nd.
- 49:28Speaker 4: I think it was really close too.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Now we're going to look up the Breakfast Club release date.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I really want Alright, Breakfast Club was February 15th, 1985.
- 49:44Speaker 1: But still, that's pretty quick turnaround.
- 49:47Speaker 4: That's pretty quick turnaround. Again, you've got to be pretty
- 49:51Speaker 4: damn funny to be like, guys, wait. We're getting ready
- 49:54Speaker 4: to put the press materials together. I've got an idea.
- 49:57Speaker 4: That's pretty awesome.
- 49:58Speaker 7: Come on now.
- 49:59Speaker 8: Wow.
- 50:00Speaker 4: So yeah, there you go. We found a lot of
- 50:03Speaker 4: great movies. We're done with this episode, right?
- 50:05Speaker 6: No.
- 50:06Speaker 7: No.
- 50:07Speaker 4: Guess we should start getting started on our movie-o-the-episode. Get
- 50:14Speaker 4: more out of life.
- 50:16Speaker 5: Go out to.
- 50:21Speaker 7: A movie.
- 50:29Speaker 4: It's been four years since Michael Myers vanished.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Without a trace.
- 50:36Speaker 7: Hello?
- 50:59Speaker 4: I was certain that I saw him.
- 51:02Speaker 7: Watching me.
- 51:05Speaker 1: You pretend like you moved on, but you're actually just
- 51:07Speaker 1: obsessed with Devin. What are you gonna do when Michael
- 51:10Speaker 1: comes back for you? Because he is coming.
- 51:15Speaker 4: But this time, something feels different. He's more dangerous. He
- 51:41Speaker 4: killed my daughter. But tonight, I will kill him.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Come and get me.
- 51:48Speaker 7: Police!
- 52:01Speaker 4: Maybe the only way he can die is if I
- 52:03Speaker 4: die too. It all ends now.
- 52:23Speaker 11: Through the nauseous night I'll.
- 52:25Speaker 3: Soar Through the pools.
- 52:27Speaker 11: Of rancid war Through the sewer pipes I'll crawl To
- 52:32Speaker 11: the horror hall To the hall.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Where vampires scream Ah!
- 52:40Speaker 11: Happy Halloween. From the cold and ancient graves. From the
- 52:46Speaker 11: coffins and the caves. From the rocks and werewolf nests.
- 52:51Speaker 11: Come the ghastly ghasts. Gonna have a nightmare dream.
- 53:00Speaker 4: Happy Halloween. So little witch we've got. So, this Halloween
- 53:06Speaker 4: edition Horror Club sofa theater feature slash out on the
- 53:09Speaker 4: town feature is Halloween Ends.
- 53:12Speaker 1: I hope so.
- 53:13Speaker 4: The year is 2022. The director is David Gordon Green
- 53:17Speaker 4: and the plot, according to IMDb, and I feel like
- 53:20Speaker 4: this came out of the press junket. The saga of
- 53:23Speaker 4: Michael Myers and Laurie Strode comes to a spine-chilling climax
- 53:27Speaker 4: in this final installment of this trilogy.
- 53:30Speaker 8: Really?
- 53:31Speaker 4: Are you just patting yourself on the back there? Because
- 53:33Speaker 4: I feel like Not so spine-chilling. But we'll get to that.
- 53:37Speaker 4: Spoiler alert! There was a lot to ruin here, and
- 53:39Speaker 4: we're going to ruin every bit of it if I.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Have anything to say about that. I kind of feel
- 53:42Speaker 1: like we have to.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, I have a... I'm going to... Before
- 53:49Speaker 4: we even get to the movie, I'm going to get
- 53:51Speaker 4: to what happened, because you both watched it in the
- 53:53Speaker 4: safety of your homes, right?
- 53:55Speaker 1: I saw it in the theater.
- 53:56Speaker 4: Did you? Oh, that's right. I remember you said that.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Thankfully, unlike the last two, it was a mostly empty theater.
- 54:02Speaker 1: We'll get into that.
- 54:03Speaker 4: Well, that's what I was going to say. I was
- 54:06Speaker 4: going to describe my experience as soon as the movie ends,
- 54:09Speaker 4: and that kind of puts in perspective how the whole
- 54:13Speaker 4: thing went and my feelings at the time and whether
- 54:16Speaker 4: or not I've changed them. I don't know. So I
- 54:19Speaker 4: get there, and I'm in the theater, and I got
- 54:21Speaker 4: a seat well ahead of time, and I probably didn't
- 54:23Speaker 4: have to because I got there, and there was one
- 54:25Speaker 4: guy in my row. And then eventually, right when the
- 54:30Speaker 4: movie started rolling... Another guy sat down on the other
- 54:32Speaker 4: end of the aisle. So there were three in the
- 54:34Speaker 4: entire row. And it wasn't even a huge theater because
- 54:37Speaker 4: that was the next. I didn't do the Super XD
- 54:40Speaker 4: version because I'm like, really, Halloween? Who cares? It's not
- 54:43Speaker 4: like this is freaking Avatar.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Being the middle person in that scenario would have driven
- 54:46Speaker 1: me nuts.
- 54:47Speaker 4: Well, we were on opposite ends, though. They weren't right
- 54:50Speaker 4: next to me. Are you saying because I couldn't escape?
- 54:53Speaker 1: Yeah, well, regardless of what movie I'd be watching, if
- 54:57Speaker 1: there's me and two other people in a movie theater,
- 55:00Speaker 1: no matter how far away they sat, if they were
- 55:01Speaker 1: both in my row and I was the one in
- 55:04Speaker 1: the middle, I'd be like, no.
- 55:07Speaker 4: I was fine because I had the better seat. They
- 55:08Speaker 4: were both at a weird angle, so tough luck for them.
- 55:11Speaker 4: But I could have escaped before the movie was over
- 55:13Speaker 4: because guy on the left end got up left.
- 55:17Speaker 3: Wow.
- 55:17Speaker 4: How far into the movie? Pretty far in.
- 55:19Speaker 7: Okay. Like.
- 55:21Speaker 4: jumping we've already thrown out the spoiler alert when they're
- 55:24Speaker 4: loading up the body at the end before they finished
- 55:28Speaker 4: just walked out i was like okay you wasted this
- 55:31Speaker 4: much of your day and then you're gonna leave without
- 55:34Speaker 4: seeing the end i was like what is that like
- 55:36Speaker 4: if you get 20 minutes in and you're like screw
- 55:38Speaker 4: this i got better things to do all right i
- 55:40Speaker 4: don't agree with that in a movie but i can
- 55:42Speaker 4: understand your reason.
- 55:43Speaker 1: In this movie i would have understood leaving at the
- 55:45Speaker 1: 20 minute mark See, we'll get to that, but I
- 55:50Speaker 1: didn't finish. Oh, I forgot these are pumpkin pie flavored.
- 55:53Speaker 4: Sucker! That's why I got them, just to kind of
- 55:56Speaker 4: annoy people a little bit. They're like, ah, Kit Kat, yeah!
- 55:59Speaker 1: A lot of ginger and cinnamon there.
- 56:01Speaker 4: There you go. I like them in small doses, and
- 56:04Speaker 4: then when I don't eat that many, and you guys
- 56:06Speaker 4: don't eat that many, I take them over on Halloween,
- 56:08Speaker 4: and I'm like, here kids, have some candy. And then
- 56:10Speaker 4: they go, Kit Kat! So, I can pass on the
- 56:14Speaker 4: annoyance to the next generation. So my other portion of the,
- 56:20Speaker 4: that was just while the movie was going on. What
- 56:23Speaker 4: may have been the creepiest and most effective thing in
- 56:26Speaker 4: this trip was as the movie was coming to an end,
- 56:29Speaker 4: the credits are rolling by, I'm the dork still sitting there,
- 56:32Speaker 4: and the lights are like still halfway on at that
- 56:36Speaker 4: point because once the credits started rolling, they turned on
- 56:38Speaker 4: the lights. So the one over on the right side
- 56:41Speaker 4: is going flicker, flicker, flicker. And I'm like, Is it
- 56:46Speaker 4: supposed to be doing that?
- 56:47Speaker 1: Wait, was he saying one on the right side was flickering?
- 56:50Speaker 1: Do you mean the light?
- 56:51Speaker 4: The light itself was doing a weird horror movie flicker.
- 56:55Speaker 4: And I was like, did they do that on purpose?
- 56:57Speaker 4: Like that's an extra special. Is this like a 4D
- 57:00Speaker 4: experience I'm in the middle of here? So it kept
- 57:03Speaker 4: doing it. And I was like, all right, whatever. So
- 57:05Speaker 4: then it gets to the end of the credits and
- 57:08Speaker 4: all the lights go down. It is pitch black. And
- 57:12Speaker 4: it stayed that way for like 10 seconds. So I'm
- 57:16Speaker 4: just sitting there and I'm like, I think I'm the
- 57:18Speaker 4: only one left in the theater. Guys, did everybody go home?
- 57:23Speaker 4: I was just like, if they turn the lights on
- 57:26Speaker 4: and there's somebody in full Michael Myers get up and
- 57:29Speaker 4: right in front of me, I will shake your hand.
- 57:31Speaker 4: That would be the coolest thing ever.
- 57:33Speaker 1: I feel like you would have gotten your money's worth.
- 57:35Speaker 7: Yeah, they should have.
- 57:36Speaker 4: The fact that they don't do that more often is
- 57:38Speaker 4: really a little annoying. I mean, they're a chain theater.
- 57:41Speaker 4: I guess they don't get a whole lot of leeway
- 57:43Speaker 4: with that kind of fun stuff. But still. come on
- 57:45Speaker 4: they really should have done that eventually the lights came
- 57:48Speaker 4: back on and it was normal and there was no
- 57:50Speaker 4: michael myers no blood everywhere at least nora should have
- 57:53Speaker 4: shown up with her stabby knife and like so that
- 57:59Speaker 4: was maybe the most effective portion of the creepiness i
- 58:02Speaker 4: was like huh this seems like something went wrong like
- 58:07Speaker 4: but it didn't end there i thought that was it
- 58:09Speaker 4: i was getting ready to go walk outside As I'm
- 58:11Speaker 4: coming through, I'm rounding the corner and we're just going
- 58:14Speaker 4: to call him Usher Kid. So Usher Kid comes around
- 58:17Speaker 4: the corner and we about run into each other. And
- 58:19Speaker 4: I just kind of do the head nod and, hey,
- 58:22Speaker 4: just acknowledging there's a person there and we didn't run
- 58:24Speaker 4: into each other. So as I get around the corner,
- 58:27Speaker 4: he looks over the top as he's going up the
- 58:29Speaker 4: stairs and he goes, so did you like it? And
- 58:32Speaker 4: at that point, like I just finished this nonsense. So
- 58:35Speaker 4: like I'm still processing a whole lot. So I'm just like,
- 58:38Speaker 4: I literally went, it was just a pause and I went,
- 58:41Speaker 4: I don't really know what I think. And so he
- 58:46Speaker 4: just kind of went right on. He didn't really even laugh.
- 58:48Speaker 4: He was just like, all right, whatever. He's like, okay,
- 58:50Speaker 4: one question. He's like, did he die? He was maybe 17. Like,
- 58:56Speaker 4: there's no way he was any older than that. So
- 58:58Speaker 4: I was like, number one, I'm not cool with spoiling
- 59:01Speaker 4: things for other people. Even if you're one of those
- 59:02Speaker 4: people who doesn't care about it, that's for you. I'm
- 59:05Speaker 4: not here to do that. And also, really? I mean,
- 59:09Speaker 4: are you gonna, sum it up in that one sentence
- 59:12Speaker 4: so I gave him the usual me being the dork
- 59:15Speaker 4: but I am kind of an answer which is as
- 59:17Speaker 4: much as Michael Myers dies in every movie now technically
- 59:22Speaker 4: maybe a little more maybe a little more in this
- 59:25Speaker 4: one but really would you be shocked if he came
- 59:27Speaker 4: back he might I've seen Jason and Six. He might
- 59:32Speaker 4: come back, no problems. I just watched a Freddy movie.
- 59:35Speaker 4: He reformed his bones and re-put skin back on him
- 59:38Speaker 4: and stood up and put his hat on. So, you know,
- 59:41Speaker 4: they're never really done. If a horror movie wants to
- 59:43Speaker 4: have a sequel, they'll have a sequel, damn it.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Which I would have even given them credit if they
- 59:48Speaker 1: did that in this movie. Like he goes through the
- 59:50Speaker 1: thing and just pops up like, hey, what's up guys?
- 59:54Speaker 4: So, yeah, that was my interaction with the Usher kid.
- 59:58Speaker 4: He just kind of laughed and was going on about it.
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: He was like, yeah, you know, so not really going
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: on about it. I was like, good. That means you
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: got to watch it now, sucker. So that was my
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: before we get into it experience.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: My I had a this is a recurring thing for
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: me whenever I go see horror movies. It never happens
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: at comedies, never happens at animated movies. But, like, I'll
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: get out, and if the movie is just the teeniest
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: bit scary, you know, every time I leave the theater,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I go straight to the men's room because I'm an
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: old man and can't hold it for more than 20 minutes.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: That's part of the routine.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: But I go in the bathroom, and it's always completely empty.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: And, yeah, that's what happened this time, and I was
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: just like, I mean, yeah, it's not as effective as
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: your flickering light.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: Well, again, sometimes when you're enough of a horror geek,
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: you start to see it happen in the real world.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: You're like, oh, am I about to die? So I'd
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: say where do we begin? But I mean, we get
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: the intro before we even get to the finishing the
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: credits part. We get our DJ guy before they're even
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: done showing you the logos and shit. Was he a
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: thing before?
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I don't remember.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: I don't remember him being a thing before, but they
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: work him in like he's been the biggest part of
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: this trilogy.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I will get to this more later, but I feel
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: like this movie rips off a lot of other movies,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: and he's one of many examples of that.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: Speaking of Texas Chainsaw 2?
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: No, actually, I was thinking The Warriors.
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: Well, yeah, definitely. But, yeah. I mean, I don't have
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: a problem with him. It's just they came in like
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: he was a thing already. I'm like, shouldn't you have
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: done that in the first one? If you're going to
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: make this part of the overarching identity of the community
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: of Haddonfield. I mean, I don't know. It seems like
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: that was a weird add-on that you didn't think of
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: until the third movie, really. That was just a weird
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: part of it. But he picked a good song. I
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: liked our intro song.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Again, the music was great.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: That was fun.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: But he was, yeah, when he first, well, the first
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: time you hear his voice in this movie, oh, it's
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: going to be one of those, where you have a
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: movie where the narration is carried on, or the narrative
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: is carried on by some sort of unseen person, whether
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: it be a voiceover or a DJ, and we get
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: both in this one.
- 1:02:32Speaker 8: What if they had zoomed out and it was Michael Myers?
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: Hey, guys!
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: That would have been great. here we are yeah yeah
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: that'd be kind of awesome actually i mean so i
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: mean we can try to hit some.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: Specifics but i have very complex yeah i feel like
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: we're gonna have a whole lot of bouncing all over
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: the place and what about so i.
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: Think the fair warning the.
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: First scene was maybe the best.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Part With the babysitter?
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, the babysitter.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Well, my first thought right there was like, okay, they've
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: switched it up. It's a male babysitter instead of a
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: female babysitter.
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: All right, I can get this.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: And then it leads right into, it's like, oh, he's
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: killed somebody on Halloween. This is going to come back later.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: I will go ahead and say, and this might be
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: annoying to everyone, there was so much of this I
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: was enjoying most of the way through.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: And that's the part that was almost confusing me. I
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: will give them credit because I said to you guys beforehand,
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: I was like, I'm trying not to watch the commercials
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: because I feel like they're showing you way too much.
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: Way to plant those commercials so that it looks like
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: an entirely different movie in those commercials.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: So once you get into this and it was doing...
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: weird shit and i was not expecting i was like
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: all right points to you this is off the rails
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: but in a way i did not expect so i will.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Give you credit you guys remember during the first installment
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: of this trilogy i had said i really hope that
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: the third one they do like they did with the
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: original third one and it has nothing to do with
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: michael myers and about 25 minutes into it i'm like
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: this has nothing to do with Michael Myers. And then
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: I was like, I'm watching a very special episode of Dawson's.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: Creek right now. They did do a spooky Halloween episode.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Because it is a troubled, it's not a slasher movie,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: it is a troubled teen relationship movie.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: And the thing is, that's the part of it I liked. Like,
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: as we go on, and that's where I feel like
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: David Gordon Green and the other three writers, we needed
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: four people to write this, But between all of them,
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: I feel like they copped out by the end and
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: gave us the boring traditional part one, kind of part two,
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: like a mixture of one and two thrown together in
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: the last 15 minutes episode that they were like, well,
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: we got to do this because that's what people expect. Yes.
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: But everything leading up to that, like before, especially before
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: we even get to Michael, like before we even ran
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: into the Michael Myers that we see, I was having
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: a lot of fun with it because it was so different,
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: because it was so weird. And even as it went on,
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: it went in weird directions. And I'm like, okay, this
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: is at least doing different stuff and kind of Halloween
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: 3-ing it in a way of like, screw you guys.
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: We're going to do whatever the hell we want.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: Here's one of my... Rip-offs. Because, well, I mean, it
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: becomes pretty obvious after a while with all the focus
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: we're giving on Corey and how much we're not seeing
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Michael Myers. You know, it's like, okay, so maybe Corey
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: is going to be the new Haddonfield boogeyman, which was
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: rip-off to me of Friday the 13th Part 5, where
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: we think Tommy's going to be the new Jason.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: But in a way, I'm like, I kind of wish
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: they would have done that. like not to jump to
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: the end but I'm like if they left it as
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: like and then he gets.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Away wait which one are we talking about Halloween or no.
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: This movie okay like if we wouldn't have because we
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: already wrapped it up like if you want I would
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: have liked better again because I've had problems with the
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: other two especially the last one I'm like, what if
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: we introduced him at the beginning and this whole overarching story,
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: we've got this guy and his problems and like, he's
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: trying not. And by the end, he's been through so
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: much shit that he does become the new killer of,
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: of Haddonfield. And like, that would at least be different
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: and an interesting way to take it. And kind of
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: Halloween or kind of part five, Jason, but in a,
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: in a better way, you know, cause we definitely developed
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: his character along the way. Like even in this one movie, Like,
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: I'm mostly on his side through a lot of this movie.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: I'm like, man, this kid got screwed over. And like,
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: everybody's against him in this town.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: I really thought that the movie was going to end
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: with the real Michael Myers being killed. Corey puts on
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: the mask and just disappears in the night. And then
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: there's our whole new series. And I was fine with that.
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: It felt like such a waste. I was like, then what?
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: was all that for.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: And it takes such a hard turn with his personality
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: i'm like he's just victim victim victim and then all
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: of a sudden he's just like and i'm gonna start
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: killing people but wait no you weren't the killer that
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: was the thing everybody treated you like that yeah you
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: weren't doing it and now in this one little weird
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: move you've become crazy and like every Other scene, he's
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: murdering people. I'm like, but where did this come from?
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: Like you haven't been that guy. That was the whole
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: point of the first half of this movie up to
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: now was you had none of that. Everyone just assumed
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: you did and made up stories about you, but like
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: you weren't that guy. So now weirdly, like it would
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: make more sense if this was a three movie arc
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: and midway in, like slowly as we go along, he
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: really does start to take this stuff in and it
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: starts to weigh on him so much that he starts
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: to lose it. But here it's like flip on a
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: switch and now he's a homicidal maniac.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: I remember thinking so clearly. I was like, okay, this
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: is the exact moment where this movie goes from being
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: kind of okay to dumb. And I was kind of right.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: I mean, it kind of redeemed itself a little here
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: and there, but it's the part where he's in the sewer.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: Michael grabs him. And for some reason, maybe they have
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: a psychic connection.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: I'll tell you the answer if you want.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: But I just... And then we have... Now we've ripped
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: off Jason Goes to Hell, where Jason's hopping around in bodies.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: I'm just like, good lord. I.
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: Well, I haven't... I was gonna see if you got
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: the same thing from that scene that I did that's
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: a different movie that we're kind of ripping off but
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: we didn't fully go there I wish they did really
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: but before that and I assumed there was part of
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: that's kind of the story I was making up of
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: the didn't kill him in the sewer scene but in
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: getting the piecing this together on Wikipedia I On Wikipedia,
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: it says, as they're in the sewer, they're doing a
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: bad job of like recapping and jumping all over. But
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: when they get to the sewer scene, Michael sees the
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: emptiness in his eyes and decides to let him live.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: So he basically sees this mirror image of him. According
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: to Wikipedia?
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: See, that was kind of what I was.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: Which is what I thought.
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: I guess.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: But I was like, the fact that Wikipedia took it
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: upon itself to break down the behind the scenes for you.
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: So my go-to in the sewer, though, was... when we
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: get to that scene and like, he like comes in
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: and we've got this big monster attacking him kind of,
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: but not really. And then they sort of like stop
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: and they're kind of getting along. I was just like,
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: did we just get into a Frankenstein thing where now
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: he's like him and the blind man and like, he's
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: going to like take care of him now. And like,
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: he's not afraid of him like everybody else is. So
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: they're going to create that kind of relationship. And for
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: a minute I was like, I think I'd be okay
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: with that. Like if that's where we're going to go
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: and you're all in, that could be cool. And because
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: later we get them like, teaming up yeah i was
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: like well if we would have gone all in on
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: that i would have totally been like this is awesome.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: I did love the scene as far as people being
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: murdered goes i did love the scene where they team up.
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: And yeah that could have been great like why but
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: i had i had.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: This i had this fear when when after when he
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: came back the the when he came back to visit
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: michael i just had this this this It's just overwhelming
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: dread of like, oh, great. They're going to give Michael
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Myers character development. We're going to learn more about how
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: we don't need that. He's supposed to be a mindless
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: killing machine. And thankfully, that's, you know, we didn't get anything.
- 1:11:06Speaker 8: There was a scene like right after one of the
- 1:11:09Speaker 8: sewer scenes where then it cuts to Corey on the bike.
- 1:11:13Speaker 8: And it's kind of like starts it close in on
- 1:11:15Speaker 8: his face, but you see someone's behind him. And I
- 1:11:17Speaker 8: was really hoping it was going to be Michael Myers.
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: Well, just knifed him on the bike.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: It was so funny. I had the same thought because
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: when he's on the bike, for some reason in my mind,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: he looked like He looked like the kid from My Bodyguard.
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: Actually, I've seen, again, I tried not to look at
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: a lot of what people said on the internet. And
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: then this morning I looked at a few and a
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: bunch of people said something about My Bodyguard as like
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: one of the references, whether on purpose or just the
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: way everybody's reading it now.
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: Well, good.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Now I don't feel like such a weirdo for thinking that.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: But yeah, I had the same thought. I'd be like,
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: it'd be great if Michael's just nestling his head.
- 1:11:57Speaker 7: On his shoulder. Yeah.
- 1:11:58Speaker 8: That'd be cute.
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: Finally, someone cares.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Cory gives him a little pat and is like, let's
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: go turn someone inside out, baby.
- 1:12:04Speaker 8: Somebody cares about me. That's what I wanted.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: One thing about this, and you see this in a
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: lot of movies where it's got, oh, the dork kid,
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: and suddenly they're popular by taking their glasses off. As
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: somebody who wears glasses, if you took them away from me,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: I would not be able to drive a motorcycle. successfully
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: yeah definitely and it's not like he sorta needs him
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: cause when they he's wearing them all the time well
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: when they knock him off his head he pulls a
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: velma and is like searching around on the ground my.
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: Glasses well that whole scene felt very it and I
- 1:12:40Speaker 8: guess in combination with the series but the bridge scene
- 1:12:42Speaker 8: where they end up like throwing him over and they.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Beat him up the one before at the gas station
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: like they're totally like yeah and then like It's one
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: more reason I kind of felt for this kid and
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: was totally on his side through that first half of
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: the movie. But I'm like, it's bad, dude. I'm like,
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: you're what, 25? And number one, you're being picked on
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: by high schoolers. But it's not even like the football players.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: These are band geeks.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: These are marching band geeks.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: These are band geeks that are kicking your ass, dude.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Because kids in Marching Man are not that cool. And
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: this is coming from someone who spent four years in
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Marching Man.
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: I was going to say, you of all people get
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: to make fun of them. But I was like, still,
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: that kid's not even a big dude. He's a dork.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: And his dad's rich. And the other dudes, the rest
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: of them are just useless. The one just likes to
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: start stuff, but she doesn't really get involved. She just
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: likes to start. Everything gets escalated because she's there.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Well, and then the one girl just sort of half-assed, no, no, no.
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: She's like stone stoned.
- 1:13:41Speaker 8: Be nice to him. Yeah.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: They were just a weird bunch of bullies. At least
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: in It, you're like, oh, yeah, those are your typical
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: old-timey bullies.
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Corey can't fight back. Because he's already got this reputation
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: of being a child killer.
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: And then I was also like, that's kind of the
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: worst scenario to be in because you're over 18. They're not.
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: You kick their ass. You can go to jail. They
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: can beat the hell out of you and they'll just
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: be like, guys, cut that out. I'm going to call
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: your parents. But they can't legally do anything unless they
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: murder you and they really want to try you as
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: an adult. But for most purposes there, you're at a
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: disadvantage when kids are messing with you. So I was like,
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: If they were a little more intimidating, this would be
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: a terrible situation because you really can't fight back, legally speaking.
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: But they're just so dorky. I was just like, man,
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: this makes.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: You look terrible.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: Like, I know we already feel bad for you, but damn,
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: they're laying it on thick when band geeks are kicking
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: your ass.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: And then along comes Lori with her giant knife, which
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: he doesn't give back, by the way. And then he
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: kills a guy with, yeah, I mean, that was not
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: a cheap little.
- 1:14:54Speaker 8: And I just don't... The entire relationship of him and Allison,
- 1:14:59Speaker 8: I just did not get. I was like, none of
- 1:15:02Speaker 8: this doesn't make sense.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: In the beginning, kind of. I get it in the beginning, yeah.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: Because of.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Because he's been through some shit. She's been through some shit.
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: They both are, like, children that have been damaged by,
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: you know, horrible situations. So, like, I can see that helping. Plus,
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: they're both kind of dorks.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Like.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: I do like that grandma set him up. So if
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: this was a different movie, like that would be adorable.
- 1:15:26Speaker 8: Yeah, but it was just like less than a week.
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:15:30Speaker 8: It was like all flirting and stuff. And then all
- 1:15:32Speaker 8: of a sudden, like, I'm moving away with you. Let's go.
- 1:15:34Speaker 8: When he is clearly going, like getting crazier and crazier.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Becoming more and more hinged. And at no point is
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: she like, ah.
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: She doesn't seem to notice that at all.
- 1:15:44Speaker 8: I've had enough crazy in my life. It was to
- 1:15:47Speaker 8: the point where I thought she was also somehow turning evil.
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: I was kind of hoping for that. Which would have
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: been interesting at least.
- 1:15:53Speaker 8: Because otherwise, why are you not noticing how dark this
- 1:15:58Speaker 8: dude's energy is? Why are you so... To the point
- 1:16:02Speaker 8: where you're going to be horrible to your grandmother and
- 1:16:05Speaker 8: go on team him when you didn't even know him
- 1:16:07Speaker 8: five days ago.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: And on that point you just made a second of,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: that If she had started to go evil, it would
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: actually make a little bit more sense than Corey going
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: evil because she is Michael Myers' great niece. Insanity or
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: mental illness, I'm sorry, does run in families.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought it was going to be her. I
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: thought they threw that out.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Is she what?
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: Is she technically related to him? I thought they got
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: rid of her.
- 1:16:33Speaker 8: Oh, yeah, I guess not.
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: That got, yeah, that got.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Send your angry letters to.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: People start writing their e-mails.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: No this just goes to show how this whole confusing
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: this whole series has become.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: A weird series as a whole it's a weird series
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: and this is a weird movie but still i would
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: have bought it because like she's as she said like
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: when she's attacking her grandma and at times i'm like
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: no i can see why you'd be pissed at her
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: mostly i'm pissed at her because you brought him in
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: and now as soon as i'm attached to him you're
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: like no you got to get away from this guy
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: and i'm like you started it like so number one
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: i'm with her on that one but i mean she
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: lists off like because of you and your bullshit and
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: this guy i've lost both of my parents all of
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: my friends like my entire life has been ruined and
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: it's all you're doing and i'm like no she's got
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: reason to get unhinged and go down the dark path
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: so like if she did that again if by the
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: end we killed what's his face here and cory and
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: And then she picks up the mask and goes off
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: to become the new Michael Myers. I'm like, I can
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: buy that. That's cool. Again, we don't get anything that different.
- 1:17:42Speaker 8: No, instead she just comes back at the last moment
- 1:17:45Speaker 8: and is like, I'm sorry, I didn't mean any of that.
- 1:17:48Speaker 8: Then what was just.
- 1:17:50Speaker 4: 10 minutes ago when I went off on you? And yeah,
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: never mind all that. And I was right, by the way.
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:57Speaker 8: But I changed my mind.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: She still has no proof that her grandma didn't murder
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: her boyfriend.
- 1:18:02Speaker 8: That's true.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: At no part does Lori say, well, he stabbed himself,
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: which does sound very unbelievable.
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: Well, it was funny that she immediately went up and
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: grabbed the knife. I'm like, yes, fingerprints.
- 1:18:12Speaker 9: Good going, Lori.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: Good going.
- 1:18:14Speaker 8: Leave it in there.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: At least before, if it was nothing but his prints
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: on the knife, you could at least say, hey, I
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: didn't do it. And they had no real proof. But
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: you just grabbed the knife, Lori. Looks like you stabbed
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: him in the neck. Way to go.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: And Laurie's, and again, we're skipping way ahead.
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: I told you.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Laurie's plan, I mean, it made sense because she was
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: trying to fake out, you know, Corey. But Laurie's plan of, hey,
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: I want to report a suicide.
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: It was my own sin.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: If her plan was to lure Corey or Michael, it's
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: still not really clear.
- 1:18:47Speaker 8: On who she thought was in the house.
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't. sure really.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: But if her plan is to lure one of them out,
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: kill him, and then the cops show up, there's going
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: to be all sorts of questions that she's not going
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: to be able to ask. And the cops already know
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: who she is and know that there's problems when she
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: shows up.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: I mean, I guess as long as they're in your house.
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: That's the rule, right? Drag the bodies into the house.
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: Be like, he broke in.
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: Not my fault, man.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: I'm not sure what those laws actually vary from state
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: to state.
- 1:19:15Speaker 8: I don't know what they are in Illinois.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: And frankly, I can't be bothered to look them up.
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: Well, as we find out, the rules in this town
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: are pretty fluid.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: They're pretty fluid. And their 911 service is a joke because.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: Everyone was dying.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Well, that. And her granddaughter, who knew nothing of this plot,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: got there... Even after the cop was like, hey, we
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: got a 911 call to your grandma's house. She still
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: got there quicker than the police did.
- 1:19:41Speaker 8: It's true.
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: They only have like five. This is Mayberry. They're like,
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: hold on, Marty's at the donut shop. Let me get
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: a hold of him.
- 1:19:48Speaker 8: Well, I'm just like, why is anyone still celebrating Halloween
- 1:19:52Speaker 8: in this town? You just can't anymore. And I'm sorry,
- 1:19:55Speaker 8: that's the rules. You just can't.
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: While we're on those kind of questions, we'll jump back
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: to the very beginning. Because as we're introduced to Corey... We.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Catch up with the granddaughter.
- 1:20:04Speaker 4: I'm so mad I'm having another recently.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Actually, put those.
- 1:20:08Speaker 8: Candy.
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: We need more candy to deal with this.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: I've managed to lose eight pounds.
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: I don't want to keep it that way. So we're
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: introduced to Corey. We see his nonsense he's gone through
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: and the way the whole town's treating him. The granddaughter's
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: there dealing with everything she's... If I.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: Can bring a point up to Corey, only half the
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: town hates him. The other half seems to be like, oh,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: the poor bastard.
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: So.
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: Pick a lane. A few people. That's all I'm saying.
- 1:20:35Speaker 8: Anyway.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: Most people seem to hate him. I'm sorry, please. But, well,
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: I mean, then, like... Just move. We know what... Well,
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: that's my thing. We know what the granddaughter's going through.
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: We know everybody in town knows freaking Lori. And they
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: all know she's crazy and everything. And they're blaming her
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: for shit.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: I'm like.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: why do any of you still live in this town
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: right all three of you pack up your shit and
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: go like even if you don't want to move to
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: the big city there's a lot of other little towns
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: out there and they won't know you go to the
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: beach yeah i was like if anything even if they
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: hear a story second hand through the internet like they're
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: not gonna blame you for their mom getting paralyzed like
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: what was that they're not gonna have all this baggage
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: that like every day walking around you have.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: To I kind of like that.
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: I did.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Because it felt realistic.
- 1:21:21Speaker 8: It gave it stakes. I think I just didn't get
- 1:21:23Speaker 8: the reasonings as to why they were mad.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: Well, again, it was misguided in its blame.
- 1:21:29Speaker 8: I was like, did she do something in the first, like,
- 1:21:32Speaker 8: not the 1970-ish one, but the 2018.
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: First of these?
- 1:21:37Speaker 8: Like, did she do something? Because from what I remember,
- 1:21:40Speaker 8: he just kind of showed up.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but they were next-door neighbors.
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: He's in the murder spree area, and he just starts
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: killing everybody in the vicinity of her. Oh, so that's why. Okay.
- 1:21:50Speaker 8: I was like, what did Lori do?
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Well, I think everybody's like, well, this guy is clearly
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: after Lori.
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: It's because of you.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: And then he just mows down people getting in his way.
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: You would have killed him in 1978 like you were
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: supposed to. None of this would be happening. Mm-mm. Okay.
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: That was my thing. I was like, what? So, I mean,
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: it sort of nullifies everything after that. I'm like, okay,
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: the fact that you're all dealing with this bullshit in
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: this small town is because you're there. Get out. I mean,
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: Jamie Lee, you had a good reason. Your house burned down. Like,
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: there's no reason for you to pick another house.
- 1:22:22Speaker 8: In this same downtown.
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: Like, You now take that insurance money, I hope to
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: hell you had a lot of insurance, in your bunker,
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: and then, like, take that money, go move, buy a
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: nice house in any other town in America, move to France,
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: I don't give a shit, like, just get out of
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: that town.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: But, you know, wasn't that the plot of H2O? Yeah.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: She changes her name and moves to a new town.
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: And it worked out just fine. She had a kid
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: with messy hair.
- 1:22:51Speaker 8: Oh, and he still finds her.
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:53Speaker 7: Ugh.
- 1:22:54Speaker 8: She can't catch a break.
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: That's a different series and that universe doesn't exist.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: So, if we take into account the universe that no
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: longer exists and the current universe, how many... illegitimate children
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: has Laurie Strode had? Because we never meet any of
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: the fathers.
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that's true. But in every timeline, she has some
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: bastard child that has to deal with her stuff.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: And that makes sense in all of the original timeline,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: but not in this new one.
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: It's too much to get into.
- 1:23:27Speaker 8: I can't think about.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: It too much. My brain hurts. When she got to
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: the suicide scene, I was like, ugh. Is this really
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: how they're going to do it?
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why.
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: Because I was like, because they were doing the swerve
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: of like, in the trailer, it's like, and I'm going
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: to take you out. And if it has to kill
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: me to do it, kind of a thing. And I'm like,
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: so are they faking us out? And then she's going
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: to kill herself. And then the granddaughter will come in
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: and have to actually kill Michael Myers. Like, is that
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: where they're going with this? And on the one hand,
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: I was like... do I really want Laurie to go
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: out like that? No, but then I thought about it before.
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: I was like, realistically, is that where it would probably go?
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: I mean, after what she's been through, that might, I mean,
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: knowing how people deal with stuff in the real world,
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: that's probably what would have happened. But I don't want
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: it to happen.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: I felt like going into this movie, I was like, okay,
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: if Laurie dies in this movie, that's okay. Depending on
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: how she dies. Because she can die and still technically
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: win this role.
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: Yeah, if she dies for a reason. If she's like
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: nobly sacrificing herself to save her granddaughter and take out Michael. Okay,
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: we can be like, well, at least she did it
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: for a reason. This all came full circle. You know, whatever.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: But the only solution I can see to her killing
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: herself is that Michael's like, well... I got nothing else
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: to do, and then just stops being.
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: I mean, that could have happened. As we said, why
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: is he after this one weird woman?
- 1:24:49Speaker 8: Well, then I thought we established in Halloween Kills that
- 1:24:53Speaker 8: he really just wanted to go be in his sister's
- 1:24:55Speaker 8: room and stare out the window of the house.
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: Yeah, he didn't even care about Lori.
- 1:24:58Speaker 8: But then, like, the house isn't even a factor in
- 1:25:00Speaker 8: this one. No. It goes back to.
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: the more i thought about it was again like this
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: almost works as a sequel to the first movie right
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: yeah nothing that happened as i said when we watched
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: it i was like this just feels like spinning our
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: wheels for an entire movie yeah of like we don't
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: know what to do in the middle section so how
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: about we just have them walk around and kill some
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: more people and nothing really changes from the end of
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: the first movie to the beginning of the third movie
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: and like that's kind of how it went.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I knew that we as an audience were in trouble
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: during The opening title sequences because you see the pumpkin
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: and another pumpkin bursts through it and then another one
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: and then another one and they're all jack-o'-lanterns until you
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: get to the last one and it's just a blank pumpkin.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: And I remember thinking, this is a metaphor for something,
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: but I'm still not sure what. But I know this
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: is a metaphor for something. We're going to be in
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: a lot of trouble.
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: But I also knew like early on, I was like,
- 1:25:56Speaker 4: now I get the feeling that they're not going to
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: kill Lori because they keep setting up this thing with
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: the cop. Mr. Retired Cop.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: I'm like, that again is almost frustrating. Like, you two
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: obviously have chemistry. Neither of you have anything else going on.
- 1:26:14Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: Just go.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: Just go.
- 1:26:16Speaker 4: Before you leave the grocery. Hey, you want to come
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: over for dinner? Like, let's just get this going. Like,
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: what are either of you waiting for?
- 1:26:22Speaker 8: It's been like four years now. Yeah, I was like.
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: Well, it's longer than that, really. Yeah, but at least
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: in the first of this town, yeah. It's like, what
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: are you waiting for?
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: Just be like, Laurie, I'm going to swing by the
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: liquor section. Yeah, you want me to swing by Family Planning.
- 1:26:38Speaker 8: I'm like, yeah, something, but let's make another illegitimate child.
- 1:26:42Speaker 4: Well, we don't want that. But I've seen Weekly World News.
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: It could happen.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: I just felt like it'd be classier for the cop
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: to say family planning as opposed to condoms.
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: I just thought you meant lube. Well, that too. Get
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: a grande size. No, let's not go there. But the reason,
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: as soon as they set that up and we get
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: to the cherry blossoms thing, I was like, we have
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: to make good on that now. Again, they're kind of
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: hacky writers, but they're not that hacky. They set it up.
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: I'm like, At least he's going to have to have
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: some happy ending. And more than likely with Laurie. I
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: was trying not to go there. But I did say
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: pick up Lou. But yeah, I was like, the cherry
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: blossoms thing is such a setup that I'm like, you
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: have to make good on it now. And like, you
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: can't do that if she sadly commits suicide.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: Well, I thought when he said, let's go to Japan together,
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: more or less. I just had this thought of, oh, great, yeah,
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: she should get out of town. She should move away
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: from this town.
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: Travel girl, yeah.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: And then I thought, wouldn't that be great if the
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: next one is Michael Myers in Japan? He's just towering,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: head over.
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: You know, all the.
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: Screw this Jason Takes Manhattan bullshit. Michael goes to Japan.
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: It's totally gonna kick off a whole new series.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: Fights Godzilla.
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: What I think would be cooler now that we've thrown
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: that out there was like, okay, so what if we
- 1:28:10Speaker 4: have like a side spinoff now and we just get
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: one of those like old people rom-coms that's just the
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: two of them in Japan and then like nobody gets
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: killed and it's just sweet.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: They don't even mention the past.
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: Because like, we'd like to see Jamie Lee do other stuff. Like,
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: why wouldn't, let's give her like one of those like
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: Marigold Hotel old people rom-com movies. Yeah. And like her
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: and the, just, Chief, go over there and see some
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: cherry blossoms. It'll be a lovely time.
- 1:28:38Speaker 8: Eat some sushi.
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:40Speaker 8: It'll be a fun couple's massages it'll be.
- 1:28:42Speaker 4: A fun movie let's see if we can get that
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: off the ground and.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: There's some sort of Through a series of wacky misunderstandings,
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: he ends up in a sumo competition.
- 1:28:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: I'd watch this.
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: I'm just saying.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: Is anybody writing this down?
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: I'm just saying. If only we were recording this.
- 1:28:58Speaker 8: Why is this like our third Japan-centered movie spin-off that
- 1:29:03Speaker 8: we've proposed on this show?
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: We obviously want to see the cherry blossoms. That's what
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: I'm saying.
- 1:29:09Speaker 8: I did feel like Laurie's character also, from the last
- 1:29:13Speaker 8: movie to this one, it was like.
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: 180 degrees better like she's had she just turned four
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: years i guess but she.
- 1:29:23Speaker 8: Had however many from 1978 until 2018 and that just
- 1:29:28Speaker 8: turned her into like a prep basket case.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: 78 to 19 she went full sarah connor but.
- 1:29:34Speaker 8: She's out in the desert but it's not even like
- 1:29:37Speaker 8: she thinks he's dead And then he comes back and
- 1:29:41Speaker 8: she knows he's out there somewhere, but somehow she's like, well,
- 1:29:44Speaker 8: I'm writing a book. I'm baking pumpkin pies.
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: She's writing a book.
- 1:29:49Speaker 8: I know, I was like, of course you're writing a memoir.
- 1:29:51Speaker 8: I was like, really?
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: If you weren't such an old lady, you'd know you
- 1:29:54Speaker 4: should be doing a True Crime Podcast. We've already introduced
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: her a thing in this universe.
- 1:29:58Speaker 8: True.
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: That was the whole first movie.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: My thing about the book thing, though, was, well, okay,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: True Crime Podcast, but... I am certain that publishers would
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: have been knocking down, we need to know your story.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: It's a truckload of money. At least.
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: But at the same time, I was just like, in
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: the real world, once again, I was like, think about
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: if the person involved, knee deep in the middle of
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: an actual crime that the entire country knew about, did
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: their own true crime. People lose their mind for the
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: boring NPR versions. What if she actually did it herself?
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: That would take off. So once again, this is a
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: better side universe that we're creating. She's just making millions
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: on podcast advertising.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: Why aren't they calling us for ideas?
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: They really need to.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: I mean, granted, in their defense, they would have to
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: write the movie first, make it, and then we'd have
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: to be like.
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: No, change this. This is wrong and this is wrong.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: That's our job. We're punch up.
- 1:30:57Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but Way post-production.
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't want to have to read your dumb script.
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: So just go ahead and make most of the movie,
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: and then I'll tell you how to reshoot it all.
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: Because you did it wrong.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: If I wanted to read scripts, this would be a
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: book podcast.
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: Yeah, really. I don't know how to read. Let's get real. So,
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: of other things we need to hit along the way, Nora,
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: your housewife girl, came back. She didn't really have much
- 1:31:24Speaker 4: to do.
- 1:31:25Speaker 8: No, she did nothing.
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: She's still pouring drinks, but other than that, she cashed
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: a paycheck.
- 1:31:30Speaker 8: Yeah, she was there. I was like, oh, that's it.
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: Alright, she's done. She's gonna come back at the end.
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: No.
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: Alright, well, whatever. She was working that day at the
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: other job. She didn't have time for the wrap-up scenes.
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: Other weird tie-ins and special guests? I thought, once again,
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: they don't come to me for their ideas, but Wouldn't
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: it have been funny when we get there and we're
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: under the overpass and there's a crazy old homeless guy
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: with a giant beard rambling to himself, throwing cans in
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: a grocery cart. If that person was played by Rob Zombie.
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: Because he's a weird old guy with a long beard.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: Like he would look like a homeless man if he
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: didn't have lots and lots of money. So wouldn't that
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: have been a nice little nod to the other series
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: that people don't like?
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: Why not?
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: I think it would have been a nice little peace
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: offering between the two series that piss off the fans
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: the most.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: I want to know where was Ben Tramer? Which, for
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: those who don't remember, he's a character that Laurie mentioned
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: in the first one and she's got a big schoolgirl
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: crush on it in this whole series. I'm waiting for
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: him to just show up and sweep her off her feet.
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: Are we talking first, first one?
- 1:32:42Speaker 7: 78.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: Original 78.
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: And he does die in the original part two, but
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: now we're pretending that that doesn't exist anymore. So where's,
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: where's Ben Dreamer? I just want to see them together.
- 1:32:59Speaker 8: Who was the cop at the end with the cowboy hat?
- 1:33:02Speaker 4: He was in the same one. Yeah, he was in
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: that last one because I did remember him a little bit.
- 1:33:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I was like, he's familiar, but I don't know
- 1:33:08Speaker 8: why you're here.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: He kept trying to keep order when everybody was going
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: nuts and they're like, we're going to kill this crazy
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: guy who we're pretty sure is Michael Myers.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: Oh, right.
- 1:33:18Speaker 8: But then he shows up at the end for the
- 1:33:19Speaker 8: dead body parade.
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: We're like, yeah, let's go. So, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: Now I'm just... Trying to hit the other weird things
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: along the way.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: Well, I did appreciate in the scene where Michael finally
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: attacks Laurie, she is pulling out... Well, number one, she
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: takes a beating that in reality a person would not survive.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: But we'll look past that. But she's pulling out no stops.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: I mean, she's got both of his hands... By the
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: time she's crucifying. Yeah, she's got both of his hands
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: nailed to the counter and then... Just to be on
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: the safe side, she pushes the refrigerator on top of him.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: And I thought, okay, you've done this well.
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: In a different movie, that scene would be super satisfying.
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: In this one, where none of that led up to that,
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: I was just like... Well, this seems out of place.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: But again, it's the most traditional ending to the other
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: thing that you started years ago. So I guess I
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: do like when she's just hammering that second knife. Like
- 1:34:23Speaker 4: when he pulls out and she's like, nope, clang, clang.
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: I was like, damn. So again, there's a little bit
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: of satisfying in that element of it.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: Well, just for me, it was satisfying in the, okay,
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: the final girl's using Some common sense.
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: Yeah, finally.
- 1:34:42Speaker 7: In a movie.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Normally they just scream and run around.
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: Or do the thing that you know isn't going to
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: help her. Like, aha, I got him pinned down. And
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: he's immediately going to pull right out, which he did.
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: And she's like, okay, let's go a couple of steps
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: on top of that. So that part is, again, satisfying
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: in a different movie.
- 1:35:03Speaker 8: I was hoping she would just chop his head off.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I've been saying in all these movies.
- 1:35:08Speaker 8: Like, you need to go full vampire.
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: They did do what I've thought in these movies where
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: you have the unstoppable killer. It's like, they didn't cut
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: his head off, but cut his head off, move it
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: away from the body, and then just destroy what's left.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: Which I'll give him credit for doing that. Even though
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: I feel, given everything we've seen in a Halloween movie...
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: He should have resurrected the moment they untied the ropes.
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:35:32Speaker 4: Kind of. Yeah. I mean, even based on our last movie,
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: when the entire town lined up to beat his ass.
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: I know. He's just like, and whatever. So the fact
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: that this old lady takes him out now, I'm like,
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: how stupid do the rest of you need to feel?
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: He showed up with guns and tire irons and all
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: kinds of shit. He just beat your ass.
- 1:35:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I didn't really get why he... Died?
- 1:35:57Speaker 4: Yeah, why this time he just died.
- 1:35:59Speaker 8: I mean, I was glad for it, I guess. I
- 1:36:01Speaker 8: was like, okay, but that doesn't seem like something that
- 1:36:03Speaker 8: hasn't happened to him before.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: She did drain all the blood out.
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: Of his body.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: I guess.
- 1:36:08Speaker 8: Is that the way you kill him? Because he's been
- 1:36:11Speaker 8: shot before?
- 1:36:11Speaker 4: Is Laurie Strode a vampire?
- 1:36:12Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: Again, back to Weekly Royal News for me. That's the
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: headline next week.
- 1:36:18Speaker 8: That also, the whole contrast between Michael in the last
- 1:36:22Speaker 8: movie and this one, it was like... You know, last one,
- 1:36:25Speaker 8: they're like, he's the personification of evil. He cannot be killed.
- 1:36:29Speaker 8: And this time the kid goes to the sewer and
- 1:36:31Speaker 8: just has a fist fight with him.
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: Oh, he's gonna address that.
- 1:36:34Speaker 8: And takes his mask and just knocks him over on
- 1:36:36Speaker 8: the ground. It's like, oh.
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: That first movie, when he goes into the killing the neighbors,
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: I know he is just a machine that is just
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: murdering everything in the vicinity. And then I'm granted it's
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: been four years of living in the sewer, but still
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: like the dorky kid who was beaten up by band
- 1:36:52Speaker 4: geeks goes in and beats his ass, which then I
- 1:36:55Speaker 4: was like, okay, if we were again in a different movie,
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: that would make sense. Cause I'm also sitting there going,
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: he's an old man. He's 65 and he spent most
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: of his life not moving in an insane asylum. Like
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: he did. That's why it made no sense when he
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: came out and just started murdering everyone. I was like,
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: He should barely be able to walk at this point.
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: He hasn't even had functional movement for most of his
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: adult life.
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: What's interesting was I was reading today different factoids about
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Michael Myers specifically, and a very common consensus is he
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: has catatonic schizophrenia, which means he physically cannot move very well,
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: which is why he's always walking instead of running. So, yeah,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: when he got into a fight with that kid, unless
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: some sort of survivor's instinct kicked in.
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: Which apparently it did, but that's never been an issue
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: before when someone's tried to fight him because he's just like, whatever.
- 1:37:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: Dead.
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: So, in a way, I kind of liked that scene.
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: I was like, well, I mean, he is an old man. And, like,
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: this kid is kind of looting his shit and is
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: determined to take that mask with him. So, by the end,
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: I was like, I should call bullshit, but I kind
- 1:38:11Speaker 4: of don't. Like, I kind of liked it.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: I sort of wondered if there was some sort of
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: thing where, you know, oh, he puts the mask on
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: and he feels whole, so then he can go out
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: and murder.
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:38:19Speaker 12: You take it off and he feels useless i think
- 1:38:22Speaker 12: we threw that out before right like the i think
- 1:38:25Speaker 12: in that first one we're like is the mask itself
- 1:38:27Speaker 12: supernatural and like that well even even.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: If it's not supernatural it could still just be a
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: mental thing yeah but then the other thought i had
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: and i was like oh this will be so stupid
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: it's like if he goes a long time without killing
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: people he just loses all of his energy and then
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: the more he kills the stronger.
- 1:38:44Speaker 8: Yeah that was the only thing i could think.
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: Of power up super michael myers you gotta eat some
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: mushrooms which might have been what he was living on in.
- 1:38:55Speaker 8: The sewer i was gonna say what was he eating
- 1:38:57Speaker 8: rats well in the original in.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: The original he did survive on two dogs so.
- 1:39:03Speaker 4: That's the part i don't agree with in that first
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: movie i know but i don't like that part you
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: can kill all well i also you know It is
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: fun that they brought in PJ. We got a couple
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: of shots of her from the old days. But yeah,
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: I don't like him killing PJ. I don't like him
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: killing the dog. The rest of these idiots, I don't
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: really care about. Yeah.
- 1:39:21Speaker 8: I wish they had just stuck with supernatural or not.
- 1:39:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:39:25Speaker 8: Because then with the Corey guy, it's like, is he
- 1:39:30Speaker 8: mind controlling you?
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: When he goes and visits Mr. Spock and they.
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: Do the mind meld.
- 1:39:36Speaker 8: How does he make him a murderer?
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: Well, and again, if.
- 1:39:41Speaker 8: He's just a weak old man, they would have led
- 1:39:43Speaker 8: up to any of this.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: That's why I think it's weird that in the third
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: movie we bring in this entirely new character, which don't
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: get me wrong. Like I said, I like him. As
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: a character, again, that opening scene and his story is
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: really compelling. So I'm like, this is a cool addition.
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: I really was kind of enjoying what they did that
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: first 20, 30 minutes with him. But then it has
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: to escalate so quick to get to their end that
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: they also came up with. And I'm like, again, if
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: we were to put him in even the last movie,
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: or definitely the first movie, and we watched all this happen,
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: and we either see him start to turn into the
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: killer and take over as Michael Myers... Or we see
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: him start to see how bad Michael is and, like,
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: you know, forget about his problems he dealt with and,
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: you know, try to help the granddaughter, try to help Lori. And, like,
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: he ends up being the one that helps kill him. Like,
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: then it would lead somewhere. But instead we've got to
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: hurry up and get from he's a victim, oh, now
- 1:40:37Speaker 4: he's insane, oh, now he's the new Michael Myers. And, like,
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: we've got to cram that all in in two hours
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: and be done with it. And then we kill him anyway.
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: So what have we accomplished?
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:40:47Speaker 4: So yeah, that's what was most frustrating with him is like,
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: it takes such an awkward turn in the middle and
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: that we really didn't even have time enough to build
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: up through, like you said, even with the relationship with them.
- 1:40:57Speaker 8: Yeah. It makes no sense.
- 1:40:59Speaker 4: If you would have spent more time, if it would
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: have been two movies, if like the boyfriend gets killed
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: on the first movie, the second movie she meets him,
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: they go through this two movie arc of like him
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: being there for her and being really useful. And then
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: by this movie, we start seeing him turn and like,
- 1:41:15Speaker 4: Him start to be evil and she has to kill
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: him at the end. That would be a believable arc, maybe. But, yeah,
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: in this span of a couple of days, all of
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: this happening seems kind of crazy.
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: Four days. The movie takes place over four days.
- 1:41:31Speaker 4: And how bad do we feel for the stepdad? Number one,
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: he has to live with mom. yeah mom she's horrible
- 1:41:38Speaker 4: she's the real evil in this movie i was just
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: like are we going carrie here like is this that
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: was very carrie-esque i'm like.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Even the point where she smacks him yeah And she's like, oh,
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: Look what you made me do. That evil girl poisoned
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: in your mind. Like, I was just like, oh, Lord. Like,
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: this is crazy.
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: Anything you should be encouraging him to go out.
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: Yeah. Get around real life. Get away from you. But yeah,
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: I mean, he was. the stepdad which I didn't know
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: again Wikipedia says it's a stepdad I was like maybe
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: he's just the boyfriend boyfriend uncle stepdad by then I
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: realized they were a couple but still I don't know
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: if they were married but yeah the fact that like
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: he's kind of helping him even in the beginning he
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: gives him the motorcycle like he's trying to help him
- 1:42:27Speaker 4: like lead a normal life but by the end he's
- 1:42:30Speaker 4: still like trying to help the dorky annoying band kids
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: and gets killed by accident.
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: I love that actor and that character all the way
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: through the movie And then especially at the point where
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: he just looks at him and goes, I hope you
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: find somebody who can love you.
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: And he says it in such a sincere way. And
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: when he said that, I was like, this guy's going
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: to die by the end of the movie.
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: But like, he was just at every turn helping him,
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: even to the point of like, don't tell your mom
- 1:42:55Speaker 4: about the motorcycle. You know, that's like his entire life
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: is like, what can I tell you to keep you
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: from getting in more shit with this crazy woman that
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: we both live with?
- 1:43:03Speaker 7: Like.
- 1:43:04Speaker 4: They seem like they formed a nice little bond, which
- 1:43:06Speaker 4: of course means he has to die. So I did
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: like that. Yeah.
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: I'm just glad Corey didn't kill him.
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: I was like, at least I was afraid it was
- 1:43:14Speaker 4: getting to that turn. And I'm like, if he kills him,
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: like that's going to suck. So of course we have
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: to have the accidental death by somebody else, but it's
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: better than him doing it. I suppose.
- 1:43:23Speaker 8: But that whole junkyard scene was wild. There's a lot
- 1:43:27Speaker 8: going on.
- 1:43:27Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: But again, so out of place.
- 1:43:31Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: Because, and because, uh, Corey just bounces back and forth
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: from one scene to the next. So like when he's
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: back talking to the granddaughter, he's pretty normal and rational.
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: And then the next scene, he's just murdering four people.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: You know, I'm just like, wait, like you're not that
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: good at it. Like how can you switch back and forth?
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: It'd be different if once again, we were building up
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: to this and he's got some sort of switching schizophrenia
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: mode that kicks in, but like, that's not you, man.
- 1:43:59Speaker 4: So like, how is this the same guy from one
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: scene to the next? And, I don't know. That part
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: seemed weird too.
- 1:44:06Speaker 8: And it had that fun trope of a car coming
- 1:44:10Speaker 8: straight at you so you just keep running in a
- 1:44:12Speaker 8: perfectly straight line.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: That's not a strategy.
- 1:44:15Speaker 8: Never go in any other direction whatsoever.
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: If Prometheus has taught me anything, don't run sideways.
- 1:44:22Speaker 8: Make it as easy as possible for them to just...
- 1:44:25Speaker 8: I was like, girl.
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: So that seemed kind of one of the questions I
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: wanted to get to. What about the violence in this? Now, granted,
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: all of these in this trilogy have been very violent.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: This one has a lot less violence and gore than
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: I felt like the last two.
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: But when it happens, it's pretty hardcore. Especially our finale.
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: I was like, they did a good job on the grinder.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: So that is the ultimate, you know, goriness.
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: Well, they at least showed, I'm glad that they showed
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: us his body going through the grinder because as I've
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: said for years, you can't, You can't trust an off-screen death.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Most definitely. And I think, again, as much
- 1:45:07Speaker 4: as I kind of call bullshit on the whole wrap-up,
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: at the same time, I'm like, Laurie kind of needs
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: to see that.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: And we as the audience, if we've really been along
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: for this whole journey, kind of need to see that. So, like,
- 1:45:19Speaker 4: I don't know if the whole rest of the town
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: had to be there, but Laurie needs to see him
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: die for this to really kind of come to an end.
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: But it looked like Lori was going to jump in there, too.
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: Kind of.
- 1:45:30Speaker 8: I thought he was going to, like, wake up and
- 1:45:31Speaker 8: grab her.
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: At the last second.
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: Oh, I figured that was going to happen.
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: What I thought was the most irresponsible was, like, granddaughter
- 1:45:37Speaker 4: just throws on the machine. I'm like, your grandma's right there.
- 1:45:41Speaker 7: I know.
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: I was like, you want to make sure she's clear first?
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: She's just like, crank. I was like, oh, okay, you
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: might have just killed Lori, but whatever.
- 1:45:50Speaker 8: Also, I wonder what are the, like, legal implications of
- 1:45:54Speaker 8: the police being there and just being like go for
- 1:45:56Speaker 8: it instead of like doing a coroner or any coroner
- 1:46:00Speaker 8: like regular procedure that you just decided to bypass.
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: Well there's a whole town of witnesses yeah.
- 1:46:09Speaker 8: Just don't say that yeah maybe they're all just gonna
- 1:46:11Speaker 8: not tell anybody if.
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: We're on that scene how did the whole town know Well.
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: They showed one guy on his cell phone.
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: One guy on his cell phone got a hold of
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: the whole damn town. Because I was like, well, you know,
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: if they got on the radio, oh no, we murdered
- 1:46:25Speaker 4: the only guy with a radio station in this town.
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: So you think if they would have had him still,
- 1:46:30Speaker 4: he could have been on the voiceover going, hey, anybody
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: who wants to go burn Michael Myers, come on down.
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: We're going to have an old time roasting of a
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: serial killer.
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: What I liked in the beginning of this movie was
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: there was Well, apart from the boy falling face first
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: to his death.
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: That's a harsh scene.
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but there was a lot less gore and there
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: was a lot more tension and atmosphere than there had
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: been in the two previous movies. But then by the
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: third act, it's just blood and guts everywhere.
- 1:47:05Speaker 8: Yeah, that poor DJ's death. Oh, I forgot about that.
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: Bad for him. Again, that's the part when you're like,
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: oh yeah, these are comedians that are making this one.
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: As the tongue bounces over the record, over and over
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: and over.
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: What was great about, yeah, the tongue on the record
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: player was, I remember sitting there thinking, man, this would
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: suck to whoever's listening.
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: To this station right now. And then it jumps to her.
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: And it cuts to the granddaughter and she's like, what's
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: wrong with the radio?
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: What is this bullshit? Although that's an awesome song and
- 1:47:35Speaker 4: I think I've worked it into this episode before. I
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: think one of the Halloweens previously I had that song
- 1:47:40Speaker 4: in there.
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: He did at least pick some good stuff, even though
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: he was kind of a jerk.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: He was kind of a jerk.
- 1:47:47Speaker 8: But he's the only one who told the truth.
- 1:47:48Speaker 4: I mean, he was right. I'm not saying he wasn't right,
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: but he's still kind of a jerk about it.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: That's also like the people being like, well, Thanos was right.
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: That's usually right. But he's still a jerk. But again,
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: down that road, did we see him light the station
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: on fire? Nope.
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: She just looks over and there's fire.
- 1:48:09Speaker 4: And I was like, well, I mean, he was just
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: there laying waste to everything. Which, so it seems like
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: by the end he could have lit it on fire,
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: but like, did we miss a scene? I was just
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: making sure it wasn't just me.
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: Which what upsets me about that is, and I think
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: I said this during the first one of these. And
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: at least the first one, maybe the second one, I
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: don't even remember now. They keep focusing on those towers
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: over and over and over, but there's no payoff in
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: any of those first two movies. And in the third one,
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: Corey starts talking about it. I'm like, yes, we're finally
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: going to find out what the tower's about.
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: And then they burned the damn thing down. I thought
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: eventually Michael Myers was going to climb up it and
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: little planes were going to fly. That's how they made it.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: That's how Corey made it sound. I thought that was
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: going to be the big showdown. Corey snaps out of
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: it and he climbs up the tower and Michael chases
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: after him and he's like, well, and then grabs him
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: and falls off. Or Laurie would have done that. Or whatever.
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: Anybody at this point.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: Which would have been much more fascinating than like, oh,
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: we're just going to burn that tower.
- 1:49:13Speaker 4: Burn the tower down throw them in a grinder it's
- 1:49:15Speaker 4: all good i don't know i was just that whole
- 1:49:19Speaker 4: weird tacked on ending that didn't match everything else i
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: was just like all right again like it matched the
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: other two movies kind of yeah but it didn't match
- 1:49:30Speaker 4: anything we've done in the first 75.
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: Of this movie yeah it's just like okay like.
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: I guess again was it contractual you had to like
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: pay off that other thing you set up two movies
- 1:49:40Speaker 4: ago Because you really went an entirely different way the
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: whole rest of this. And then here we are.
- 1:49:47Speaker 8: It's like not only do the movies in this trilogy
- 1:49:51Speaker 8: feel like they were not made by the same people,
- 1:49:53Speaker 8: but this movie, it feels like one person wrote.
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: You write this scene. I'm going to write this scene.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: You write the end.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: Well, I'm certainly wondering too if somebody wrote, somebody started
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: to write a screenplay about troubled teenagers or whatever.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: And then somebody else was like, I need to write
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: this new Halloween movie. You got any ideas? We'll just
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: put it together. We'll put some blood in here. It'll
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: be cool.
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: I mean, I heard different things. Again, like I said,
- 1:50:24Speaker 4: I avoided everything until this morning and then I was
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: looking at stuff because I avoided it yesterday before I
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: saw it. Then I'd already pretty much made my mind up.
- 1:50:32Speaker 4: So this morning I was like, okay, what were they saying?
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: And this was somebody on my feed. But I do
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: like that they started off with man, what the fuck
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: was that shit? But then continued on and was like,
- 1:50:44Speaker 4: after the confusing mess in 2018 and the ridiculous train
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: wreck of kills, how the hell did Halloween Ends turn
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: out to be this damned great? I couldn't take my
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: eyes off of it and that's a rare thing these days.
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: Fucking fantastic, zero notes.
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: So like it turns and I'm like, on the original
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: end of it, I'm with you. But also, the turn
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: at the end totally took it all back for me.
- 1:51:10Speaker 8: And I'm like, but now what?
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: Like, that just became so conventional that I'm like, well,
- 1:51:14Speaker 4: now it's back to the dumb thing you did last time. So,
- 1:51:17Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:51:18Speaker 6: I enjoyed it.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: That was James, by the way. So, thank you.
- 1:51:20Speaker 6: Yes, James.
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: Thank you very much. I don't know you in the
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: real world, but I've known you in the internet world
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: for many, many years.
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: My only thing was, for the most part, I did
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: enjoy this movie. I have tons of notes on it.
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. I had issues with it and liked it
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: at the same time.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: But when I got to the end of it, I
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: was like, did I really enjoy this movie? Or did
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: I just enjoy this movie better than the last two?
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: And I'm still not sure.
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: I mean, I just enjoyed how weird it was taking things.
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: And how unconventional compared to what it did. Especially the
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: first movie. Like I said, that first movie is... a
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: like almost cookie cutter version of a slasher movie it's
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: just turned up the you know violence and threw in
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: a bunch of jokes for Halloween fans but like for
- 1:52:05Speaker 4: the most part it still operates like an old time
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: slasher with just a big budget and well it's very
- 1:52:10Speaker 4: flashy about it but it still works like a regular
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: old slasher movie yeah And then two is insane, but
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: goes nowhere. And this at least was like, okay, now
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: it's back to the insane part, but it's still functioning
- 1:52:22Speaker 4: like a horror movie. And it's doing all these weird
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: things along the way that I'm like, if you would
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: have picked a couple of modes in that, you know,
- 1:52:30Speaker 4: two thirds of the beginning there, I'm like, any of
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: those would have been great to stay on that train
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: and finish out the story. But they kept bouncing back
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: and forth. And then by the end went right back
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: to the old time version of wrapping things up the
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: way we assumed that they would. So that was my
- 1:52:46Speaker 4: issue was like pick any of those other weird avenues
- 1:52:49Speaker 4: and go with it. And it would have been way
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: more interesting.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: If you were to ask me if I thought this
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: was a good movie, I would have two answers.
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Which one would be like, yes, because I think it
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: tied up this new trilogy in an effective sort of way.
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: And it kept my attention. And I had fun with
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: some of the kills and the suspense was good. But
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: on the other hand, is this a good movie? No,
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: because it's still kind of a mess.
- 1:53:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:53:18Speaker 4: It's not as big a mess as the last one. No,
- 1:53:21Speaker 4: but it's not as polished as the first one, really.
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: So of the three, I think the first one's the
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: most functional. I think you can watch the first one
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: on its own by itself and just be like, all right,
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: it's a horror movie.
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: I feel like the people who've watched this new trilogy
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: are going to, you're going to be divided into two camps.
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: You're going to have the people kind of like us
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: who were just like.
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: Last two movies, I don't know. And then this one.
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: And then you're going to have people who liked those
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: first two movies because of all the gore, because of
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: all the kills. And they're going to hate this one
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: because of the lack of all that.
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: But again, there was another person on there that was like,
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: this was a great trilogy and I guarantee it will
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: be reassessed favorably down the road.
- 1:54:06Speaker 11: And I'm like, Maybe.
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: Maybe you're right.
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:54:09Speaker 4: I can't tell on these things sometimes because there are
- 1:54:12Speaker 4: things that, again, looking at going back like we did
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: earlier with Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that second one didn't make
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: tons of money at the box office, but eventually down
- 1:54:23Speaker 4: the line, people were like, this is a classic. So,
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: Maybe 20, 30 years down the line, people will be like, man,
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: I really love those David Gordon Green Halloween movies.
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: People were up in arms about Season of the Witch
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: when it came out. Oh, yeah.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: As a good example.
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: Now there's a lot of people who think it's one
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: of the better movies in the installment. Once they got
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: past the fact that it has nothing to do with
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: anything else.
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: And in a way, I agree. I remember not even
- 1:54:50Speaker 4: knowing what the hell to do with it as a
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: kid when I shouldn't have been watching it. And I
- 1:54:53Speaker 4: don't really remember much about it. And it was only
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: when we went back and watched it years ago on
- 1:54:58Speaker 4: the show that I was just like, this movie's insane.
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: It's creepy as fuck.
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: But in like the weirdest way. And again, it's what
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: this started to do. And that's why I thought they
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: really are doing their own Halloween 3 in this trilogy.
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: And if they would have gone with that, I would
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: have been like, okay, I'm on board because this is
- 1:55:15Speaker 4: weird and fucked up and good for you for doing it.
- 1:55:17Speaker 4: But because it took that turn and went back and
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: got super boring again, I was just like, you missed it.
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: That's where the third movie in the old trilogy nailed it.
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: It is completely detached and it never caved in and
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: became something else by the end. It's weird all the
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: way through. It finishes its story and finishes with a
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: way that you are not prepared for if you're expecting
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: a normal horror movie. It does a thing that if
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: you haven't seen it, I will not ruin, but I'm like...
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: By the end you're like, holy shit, did they just?
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: And they do. And so like it ends in an
- 1:55:54Speaker 4: insane way. The rest of the movie was insane. And
- 1:55:57Speaker 4: I'm like, that's how you stick the landing on your
- 1:55:59Speaker 4: weird ass movie. And this one got halfway in and
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: then went, I guess the studio wants us to do this.
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: Maybe that's not even the case. Maybe they planned this
- 1:56:07Speaker 4: from the beginning, but that's the way it feels watching
- 1:56:10Speaker 4: it is that it got really cool and creative at
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: different points and then had to wrap it up in
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: the super conventional way, which is let's murder him and
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: everybody watch and they can applaud and have a party
- 1:56:21Speaker 4: afterwards or whatever the hell they need.
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: Yeah, what do they do?
- 1:56:24Speaker 4: Go back to the bar and hang out with their
- 1:56:26Speaker 4: housewife girl as she pours them some more drinks.
- 1:56:28Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:56:29Speaker 4: Another little Smirnoff ad.
- 1:56:30Speaker 8: That's what I do.
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: That seemed very well featured, by the way. Yeah. It's like,
- 1:56:34Speaker 4: who paid for this movie?
- 1:56:36Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess they'd just be like, well, I gotta
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: go to work tomorrow.
- 1:56:42Speaker 4: I mean, I guess if you've got a whole town
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: of people that are like, shh, just don't say anything.
- 1:56:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: Like, Because they're all parading down there. It really was
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: a huge group of people. I'm like, it's a lot
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: of people. Just be like, we don't talk about that.
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: So are we getting some sequel down the line where
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: we don't talk about those times in some weird future
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: sequel offshoot reboot?
- 1:57:07Speaker 8: Yeah, that was another weird thing.
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: When....
- 1:57:13Speaker 8: I guess just generally it was weird at the beginning
- 1:57:15Speaker 8: when Laurie kind of gave us a recap of the
- 1:57:18Speaker 8: first two movies that we'd already watched.
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: I guess in case somebody didn't bother to watch the other,
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: you just want to come in for Halloween ends? I know.
- 1:57:26Speaker 8: And then she, like, and they, you know, they showed us, like, oh,
- 1:57:29Speaker 8: she's writing her book. But I'm like, still, we didn't
- 1:57:32Speaker 8: really need that. But then she kind of talks about how, like,
- 1:57:35Speaker 8: the evil has infiltrated the town. And it's like, wait,
- 1:57:39Speaker 8: are the townspeople, like, bad?
- 1:57:41Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:57:42Speaker 8: Is it like a dairy thing?
- 1:57:43Speaker 4: Again, that would have been a more interesting movie.
- 1:57:46Speaker 8: Where there's some evil force within the town that's making
- 1:57:49Speaker 8: the people be bad to each other.
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: You do get the montage of the couple that were
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: shot in the head. The lady who, I don't know
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: if she hung herself or someone hung her or whatever.
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: And they were just like, nope, it's not Michael Zema.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:58:02Speaker 8: So I was like, wait, so are more people just.
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: And like you said earlier, i didn't know what that
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: was just cancel halloween yes move out of that town
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: cancel halloween like it's.
- 1:58:14Speaker 8: My favorite but if everybody kept getting murdered i'd be
- 1:58:17Speaker 8: like maybe we just celebrate.
- 1:58:19Speaker 4: In our houses not a good idea let's let's just
- 1:58:21Speaker 4: take a few years off a good decade or so
- 1:58:24Speaker 4: gap here and we'll try it again later see if
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: anybody dies yeah But no, wouldn't that be an interest
- 1:58:30Speaker 4: if we're going to continue that? What if, because they
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: can't really pick a lane with all their crazy theories
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: they're putting in their own movie, what if he really
- 1:58:39Speaker 4: was the embodiment of evil?
- 1:58:41Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: And you just destroyed him. So did the evil then
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: get released? And then all these people crowded around the
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: Mangler are now infected with the evil that made Michael Myers.
- 1:58:54Speaker 4: So what if this entire town just becomes... evil now
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: i'm like that would kind of be an awesome way
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: to spin off and do a whole new thing if.
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: It was the first one or the second one but
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: they do laurie is like i realize he's not that
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: he's after me he's trying to infect this entire town.
- 1:59:11Speaker 4: I feel like that was that second one because the
- 1:59:12Speaker 4: first one they kept like the whole build-up is like
- 1:59:15Speaker 4: he's after me like you know and then by the
- 1:59:18Speaker 4: second one i thought they realized he's like he just
- 1:59:20Speaker 4: wants to go home like he doesn't even know who
- 1:59:23Speaker 4: you are lady calm down get over.
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: Yourself After that wholesale slaughter that is the second one,
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: because he kills an entire fire department.
- 1:59:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: An entire neighborhood.
- 1:59:34Speaker 4: That's the beginning, yeah.
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: Who even is left? Like, what's the economy of this town?
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: Because there's got to be nobody left.
- 1:59:41Speaker 4: Pretty much.
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: And then the ones who are left don't have the
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: common sense to move.
- 1:59:45Speaker 4: Well, and they were all witness to a murder and
- 1:59:48Speaker 4: kind of willing participants.
- 1:59:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:59:51Speaker 4: I guess technically she'd already killed them first, but. Technically.
- 1:59:56Speaker 4: We all know he would have come back anyway.
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: Really, that four years between the last movie and this
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: one would have been filled with lawsuits. The whole town
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: would have been shut down. Yeah, family members trying to
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: be like, well, it's the cop's fault, or he fired
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: a bullet at Michael, but it actually killed this guy,
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: and this guy talked to my husband, and then Laurie
- 2:00:21Speaker 1: probably has something to do with all this.
- 2:00:22Speaker 4: We're all going to blame her.
- 2:00:24Speaker 3: I mean....
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: I really feel like the citizens of Haddonfield, when they
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: walk down the street, whoever they are, whether they're a
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: lawyer or not, don't make any eye contact, don't say anything.
- 2:00:36Speaker 4: I tripped on the sidewalk, I'm suing!
- 2:00:38Speaker 8: It was Michael Myers' fault.
- 2:00:41Speaker 4: His evil spirit pushed me. Evil of Michael Myers.
- 2:00:47Speaker 8: Evil dies tonight.
- 2:00:49Speaker 4: We didn't even have a chant.
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: Did anyone see the graffiti on the wall that said,
- 2:00:55Speaker 1: Love Lives Today?
- 2:00:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: At first, I was like, okay, this is Haddonfield trying
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: to rebuild. But again, they don't touch on any of
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: how we're trying to put all this behind us. We're
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: just like, we know it's.
- 2:01:06Speaker 4: Going to happen again. What a hopeful and uplifting tagger.
- 2:01:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:01:11Speaker 4: That was not normally the message you get on the wall.
- 2:01:14Speaker 4: So that was pretty nice of them.
- 2:01:17Speaker 8: It's like one of those live, laugh, love signs.
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:01:21Speaker 8: Like graffiti. That's nice.
- 2:01:23Speaker 4: That's the worst.
- 2:01:26Speaker 8: Love lives today.
- 2:01:27Speaker 7: Wow.
- 2:01:28Speaker 8: I think I dislike that even more than evil does tonight.
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: I lived in that town and saw that. And regardless
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: of whether I, especially if I knew of the background
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: behind it, I'd be like, you need to get out
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: of my town.
- 2:01:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:01:47Speaker 4: Have we figured any of this out? I think I've
- 2:01:51Speaker 4: hit most of my weird points, but I don't know
- 2:01:54Speaker 4: that we've made sense of any of this.
- 2:01:56Speaker 8: I just saw it this morning. It's all still scrambled
- 2:01:59Speaker 8: up in my brain. I think I didn't like it,
- 2:02:04Speaker 8: but I didn't hate it as much as the second one.
- 2:02:06Speaker 4: I expected way worse and I liked a lot of
- 2:02:09Speaker 4: what was there along the way. I just wish we
- 2:02:12Speaker 4: would have picked something and gone with it. It At
- 2:02:16Speaker 4: least did better than last time. Last time we didn't
- 2:02:19Speaker 4: know what to do with it. We had no direction
- 2:02:21Speaker 4: and we didn't do anything. This one they at least
- 2:02:24Speaker 4: went somewhere but they went about five different places and
- 2:02:27Speaker 4: they didn't match each other and then in the end
- 2:02:28Speaker 4: they went entirely different direction anyway. So I think that's
- 2:02:32Speaker 4: my frustration is there's so many good things in the
- 2:02:34Speaker 4: middle and we just didn't really pay off on any
- 2:02:37Speaker 4: of them.
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: My takeaway is your kids are probably safer if you
- 2:02:41Speaker 1: don't hire a sitter.
- 2:02:42Speaker 4: Probably. Just take them to the party with you.
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: That's what this whole series has been about. It's anti-babysitting.
- 2:02:51Speaker 4: He doesn't kill kids, just babysitters. Then I was like,
- 2:02:55Speaker 4: that's kind of true. He's had chances to kill a
- 2:02:58Speaker 4: lot of kids. Yeah, that's true. The little kids that
- 2:03:01Speaker 4: survived the first movie, that baby in the second. I'm like, yeah,
- 2:03:05Speaker 4: he could have killed a lot of kids, but he
- 2:03:06Speaker 4: really doesn't like that. Just grown-ups. Where did I get that?
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: Grown-ups are annoying.
- 2:03:10Speaker 4: Teenagers in particular. But by that second, new one in
- 2:03:13Speaker 4: this trilogy, like, he's just taking out grown-ups right and left.
- 2:03:16Speaker 4: They don't have to be babysitters. It doesn't even, like, again,
- 2:03:19Speaker 4: that became the lore even within this own trilogy, which
- 2:03:23Speaker 4: doesn't match the reality because he murdered all these regular-ass people.
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:03:29Speaker 4: They're still telling this babysitter story because it looks better
- 2:03:32Speaker 4: in the wrap up in the newspaper i guess but
- 2:03:35Speaker 4: i'm like what about all these other people that he
- 2:03:37Speaker 4: killed for no real reason what about the street fight
- 2:03:40Speaker 4: he had in the middle of the second movie like
- 2:03:44Speaker 4: none of that's babysitters so where does this story come.
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: From the firefighters could have been babysitters we don't know.
- 2:03:54Speaker 4: Once again if he can take out a whole troop
- 2:03:56Speaker 4: of firefighters but yet This old lady takes him out
- 2:03:59Speaker 4: with a knife. What's going on here? This is all
- 2:04:03Speaker 4: out of whack.
- 2:04:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:04:07Speaker 4: So there you go. Happy Halloween.
- 2:04:10Speaker 1: No, seriously, they have to be bankrupt for all the
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: what they had to pay out to the family.
- 2:04:19Speaker 8: That's why the radio station is on fire. Nobody cares.
- 2:04:23Speaker 4: We'd put it out, but all those guys are dead.
- 2:04:25Speaker 1: No, last time there was a fire in Haddonfield, we
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: lost our entire crew. Was it like a five alarm blaze? No,
- 2:04:33Speaker 1: some guy just walked out and started killing everybody.
- 2:04:35Speaker 4: We tried to recruit some new volunteers, but they were
- 2:04:39Speaker 4: just like, not after the last time. So we just
- 2:04:41Speaker 4: can't keep anybody anymore. We just hand out extinguishers to
- 2:04:44Speaker 4: everybody when they move in. You're on your own.
- 2:04:47Speaker 1: Not even extinguishers, just like a damp cloth.
- 2:04:53Speaker 4: All right. I guess we've gotten as much out of
- 2:04:56Speaker 4: this movie and trilogy as we're going to.
- 2:04:59Speaker 1: I'm trying to think if there's anything that we left out.
- 2:05:02Speaker 1: We've tackled a little.
- 2:05:04Speaker 4: Granddaughter got ripped off on her job.
- 2:05:07Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 2:05:08Speaker 4: What was up with that?
- 2:05:10Speaker 1: Well.
- 2:05:10Speaker 4: Good thing she moved away because that was a bullshit job.
- 2:05:14Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 2:05:15Speaker 4: We all knew she was sleeping with the doctor. Come on, man. Which,
- 2:05:19Speaker 4: that was a weird moment. If you're to the point
- 2:05:22Speaker 4: in a relationship where you're sleeping with someone, even if
- 2:05:25Speaker 4: it's relatively casual, do you still not call them by
- 2:05:28Speaker 4: their first name? Like, when she's saying it in the
- 2:05:31Speaker 4: other room, like, isn't his name, like, Richard or Roger
- 2:05:34Speaker 4: or some bullshit? Like, why wouldn't you, like.
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: I mean, that could be a turn-on for him, and
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: he seems like the sort of guy that.
- 2:05:41Speaker 8: Yeah, but, like.
- 2:05:42Speaker 4: In the bedroom. Not when I think you might have
- 2:05:45Speaker 4: just got murdered. When you'd be like, hey, you okay
- 2:05:48Speaker 4: out there? Maybe later when you're playing the game. But
- 2:05:52Speaker 4: that just seemed like an odd time to be very proper.
- 2:05:55Speaker 1: She did seem kind of dumb. She might think that's
- 2:05:58Speaker 1: his first name.
- 2:05:59Speaker 4: She might.
- 2:06:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:06:01Speaker 4: Just thought that was a weird... Again, real world moment.
- 2:06:05Speaker 4: When do you still, at that point in your career
- 2:06:08Speaker 4: and life, refer to somebody by their professional title? As
- 2:06:13Speaker 4: you're getting in the shower to have.
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: Sex with them. If you're stabbed in the stomach, can
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: you no longer scream?
- 2:06:18Speaker 4: I guess it depends.
- 2:06:20Speaker 1: Because he did his whole, you know, pinning to the
- 2:06:22Speaker 1: wall trick, which is still effective after, you know, 44 years.
- 2:06:25Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a little throwback, yeah.
- 2:06:27Speaker 7: But, um.
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: Yeah, my reaction to that would not be hers, which
- 2:06:31Speaker 1: was like, well, I guess this happened. But it would
- 2:06:34Speaker 1: just be nonstop screaming until my life force.
- 2:06:37Speaker 4: I have to work tomorrow. Get me off of this wall.
- 2:06:40Speaker 4: I just got this promotion, damn it. I can't not
- 2:06:43Speaker 4: show up.
- 2:06:44Speaker 8: Cool house, though.
- 2:06:45Speaker 3: Yeah, great house.
- 2:06:46Speaker 4: I mean, he's rich. He's a doctor.
- 2:06:47Speaker 8: All right.
- 2:06:53Speaker 4: Well, we don't need to roll the die. As previously mentioned,
- 2:06:57Speaker 4: we are going through the holidays here. So next up,
- 2:07:02Speaker 4: I don't know that we're better off. Next up was,
- 2:07:06Speaker 4: I think we decided Blood Rage, which I went through
- 2:07:10Speaker 4: today because I knew we were here. We had to
- 2:07:12Speaker 4: figure out how and why and why is still going
- 2:07:14Speaker 4: to be addressed next month, but how we're watching it.
- 2:07:17Speaker 4: So in looking it up, 1987's Blood Rage is on Tubi.
- 2:07:24Speaker 4: ooh canopy midnight pulp which i didn't have but i
- 2:07:28Speaker 4: downloaded today uh all for free i'm assuming with tons
- 2:07:32Speaker 4: of ads uh it's also on prime video to rent
- 2:07:36Speaker 4: it's also on voodoo to rent and on apple tv
- 2:07:39Speaker 4: you can buy it if you're one of those weird
- 2:07:41Speaker 4: apple people and obviously apple people have tons of money
- 2:07:44Speaker 4: because they just make you buy it there's not even
- 2:07:45Speaker 4: a rental option so if you're one of those apple
- 2:07:48Speaker 4: peoples you can also buy it and then it's good
- 2:07:51Speaker 4: luck to you because you own it forever So, I also,
- 2:07:55Speaker 4: fair warning, looking at the rundown, it gives it one star. Excellent.
- 2:08:00Speaker 4: one skull for you. Good luck. But there's also, it
- 2:08:06Speaker 4: has a lot of.
- 2:08:07Speaker 1: And is this a Thanksgiving thing?
- 2:08:10Speaker 4: It has a specific tie-in according to... Now, we may
- 2:08:12Speaker 4: get here and be like, there's barely any Thanksgiving. But it,
- 2:08:15Speaker 4: at least in the write-up, says it happens somewhat on Thanksgiving. So, whatever.
- 2:08:20Speaker 4: Just enough of an excuse for us to do it.
- 2:08:22Speaker 1: Oh, what a relief. Okay, because I started to read
- 2:08:24Speaker 1: a description of what I thought was for this movie.
- 2:08:27Speaker 4: I wouldn't spoil it for yourself.
- 2:08:28Speaker 1: Well, no, I got down to the last line in
- 2:08:31Speaker 1: the review, and I'm like, now this makes sense. Because
- 2:08:34Speaker 1: apparently there is a board game called Blood Range. But
- 2:08:38Speaker 1: here's what I was reading. It's the Vikings' last chance
- 2:08:40Speaker 1: to go down in a blaze of glory. And secure
- 2:08:43Speaker 1: their place in Valhalla at Odin's side. I was like,
- 2:08:45Speaker 1: this sounds like a weird Thanksgiving movie.
- 2:08:48Speaker 4: Huh. So wait, the Vikings created Thanksgiving?
- 2:08:53Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 2:08:54Speaker 7: I can't.
- 2:08:55Speaker 4: Well, I mean, if I see it in a clay
- 2:08:57Speaker 4: animation special, I will totally buy it.
- 2:09:00Speaker 1: So I'll get to work on that.
- 2:09:01Speaker 4: Rankin and Bass, get on that. So, yeah.
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: This guy looks like, in the pictures, he looks like
- 2:09:07Speaker 1: he's having a good time killing ass.
- 2:09:09Speaker 3: He does.
- 2:09:09Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. So, maybe we'll have a good time.
- 2:09:12Speaker 4: We'll find out. There is an extra weird editing thing,
- 2:09:17Speaker 4: so fair warning for anybody else that's joining in and
- 2:09:20Speaker 4: for everyone here. there is an edited version and a
- 2:09:24Speaker 4: non-edited version. They said there's the same running time because
- 2:09:27Speaker 4: they took a scene that was taken out and put
- 2:09:30Speaker 4: it back in so that it comes out to the
- 2:09:32Speaker 4: same running time, but they took out all the nudity
- 2:09:35Speaker 4: and gore, but put in this extra weird scene that
- 2:09:38Speaker 4: obviously wasn't that needed because the original person took.
- 2:09:41Speaker 5: It out, so.
- 2:09:42Speaker 4: Fair warning, none of them seem to match up because
- 2:09:45Speaker 4: I went looking and like Roku listed as an hour
- 2:09:49Speaker 4: and 24 minutes for all those versions I listed earlier.
- 2:09:51Speaker 4: You get to YouTube, there's an hour and 22 minute
- 2:09:55Speaker 4: version that is edited. There's a free version on YouTube
- 2:09:59Speaker 4: that's an hour and 18 minutes. And none of them
- 2:10:04Speaker 4: match up. When you get to the Wikipedia description, it's
- 2:10:06Speaker 4: longer than all of those. So I don't know what
- 2:10:09Speaker 4: version we're going to see. So if we want to
- 2:10:11Speaker 4: pick one specific one and all watch it on Tubi
- 2:10:13Speaker 4: or something, at least we will all watch the same version.
- 2:10:16Speaker 1: I will do that, but part of me wants us
- 2:10:18Speaker 1: to all watch a different version.
- 2:10:19Speaker 4: We've done that several times now. We're like, what about
- 2:10:22Speaker 4: that one scene? You're like, what are you talking about?
- 2:10:23Speaker 4: There's no werewolf in this movie. There's a werewolf chasing
- 2:10:27Speaker 4: the woman in office clothes.
- 2:10:29Speaker 1: Blood close to Dracula's castle.
- 2:10:32Speaker 4: That was a fun movie.
- 2:10:33Speaker 1: That was a fun movie. At least I remember it
- 2:10:36Speaker 1: being fun now at the time.
- 2:10:38Speaker 4: I think you complain a lot then. It was fun
- 2:10:40Speaker 4: to talk about. I enjoyed that a lot. So maybe
- 2:10:45Speaker 4: that's what we'll have with this.
- 2:10:46Speaker 1: That's one of those movies I feel like if I
- 2:10:48Speaker 1: watched with a group of people who could all have
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: fun with it, I would enjoy the hell of it.
- 2:10:52Speaker 7: That's what this is.
- 2:10:53Speaker 4: We get together after the fact and we all enjoy
- 2:10:57Speaker 4: the ridiculousness of all of these movies.
- 2:10:59Speaker 1: I do remember liking Count and Mrs. Dracula a lot.
- 2:11:02Speaker 4: They were both pretty damn cool. Yep.
- 2:11:07Speaker 3: Alright.
- 2:11:08Speaker 4: Anything else to pass along for these wonderful Halloween times?
- 2:11:12Speaker 8: Happy Halloween.
- 2:11:13Speaker 1: Happy Halloween, everybody.
- 2:11:16Speaker 4: All right. Otherwise, that about does it. We will return
- 2:11:18Speaker 4: next time. Same geek feed. And until then, keep it spooky.
- 2:11:30Speaker 2: One night when the moon was tall The midnight monsters
- 2:11:35Speaker 2: had a ball At the county moor till the break
- 2:11:38Speaker 2: of day You could hear those monsters say.
- 2:11:43Speaker 9: Hey goo, you're a coo And.
- 2:11:46Speaker 4: The midnight monsters hopped.
- 2:11:50Speaker 2: He was a frontin' the band On the yackin' sax,
- 2:11:53Speaker 2: the invisible man A zombie on the voodoo drum And
- 2:11:58Speaker 2: the guitar man was a real weird one They.
- 2:12:02Speaker 4: Scowled and they howled.
- 2:12:27Speaker 2: Dragula was standing at the bar Sipping blood from an
- 2:12:32Speaker 2: old jar The werewolf was a acting clown Gnawing on
- 2:12:38Speaker 2: a leg of sand Face could taste good It should,
