- 24:17of radio, and especially CBS Radio or its legions of listeners across the land.
- 24:22The last time anyone counted, there were over one hundred and five million
- 24:26radio sets in America and people really use them. How else could a phenomenon
- 24:32like this take place? Next Tuesday Night in California. Jean Herscheldt will receive
- 24:36an honorary MD degree awarded to him in recognition of fifteen years as Country Doctor
- 24:41on CBS Radio's Doctor Christian Series. Radio and especially CBS Radio where America listens
- 24:49most, is proud to carry on its leading role in bringing America news,
- 24:53public service programs, and diversion day and night. Dan Coverly speaking, and
- 25:08remember a Marria who listens most to the CBS Radio networks Welcome back. Well,
- 26:07there were a couple of things that really stood out about this episode.
- 26:11I loved the way they did the crime scene and kind of the panic.
- 26:15In some cases on these shows people are all too calm. Here they show
- 26:19there are a variety of actions, and in this particular case, you just
- 26:25very alarmed to find themselves experiencing this, and I think quite believably. There
- 26:30was also it seemed to be more chit chat than usual among the officers about
- 26:36matters other than the case. Of course, Dragnet's most famous for this with
- 26:41the Friday Frank Smith partnership. But as we've talked about on the show,
- 26:47the back and forth between Ben Guthrie and Matt Grebb actually predated that duo,
- 26:55and here it was at maximum level. It didn't get too much, I
- 26:59think, and it was probably just on the edge of being too much,
- 27:03but it was really just enough to establish that these people work together like each
- 27:08other and our friends and have a lot going on other than just their work.
- 27:14So it definitely adds some depth to characterization. All right, Well,
- 27:18that'll actually finish it up for the week. Thanks again so much for listening.
- 27:22We will be back on Monday with yours truly Johnny Doller, and then
- 27:26join us back here on Saturday for another episode of the lineup. In the
