  is a tragic love story of two teenagers who ended up killing themselves. Yeah,

  Kim. Maybe Olivia and Ethan because we see in this episode the writing is

  kind of on the wall that things are getting rocky for them. I hope

  he took it. Well, It's like, no, he's talking about

  Barry and how I told Barry and he didn't say anything. He just said

  it was sad. But he never told me not to date anybody. Well,

  you said you wanted to see other people and you wanted a divorce,

  So what is he supposed to fucking say. But every opportunity she can take

  to kind of drag Barry and make him look bad. She seems to take

  it even though it's pretty passive aggressive, but contrasts that with what Barry's doing

  rely very nice. I mean, he's still showing up to family meetings with

  his adulterous wife. I know, he's still speaking respectfully to and of her,

  and every chance she gets around the kids, she's just throwing that subtle

  shade at Barry. I'm like, oh god, so immature, the little

  jabs. Yeah. I mean, while Berry's talking about how he's growing from

  his faith and trying to be a good person, be a good dad,

  and I'm just like, Barry, I love you. Yes, thanks Ba.

  I'm starting to like Barry a lot more final than in previous seasons,

  I must say. Okay, let's get into the episode. Yes, we

  begin back in Minnesota with Ethan and Olivia, and we see Olivia going to
• 4:20
  Floyd's bar, which, by the way, is the same bar that they
• 4:26
  took pictures of Ethan and that young chippy brunette girl, and I was wondering,
• 4:30
  is it the other bartender? Is it the bartender that Olivia was within
• 4:33
  this episode? But that's the same bar, Scandalo so Olivia shows up and
• 4:40
  I guess she had talked to the manager previously. She's only been in Minnesota
• 4:44
  for three weeks. Yeah, and she wants to put herself out there and
• 4:46
  start getting involved in the community and serving alcoholic beverages because she's really into mixology.

  I'm a mythologist, I'm a photographer, in a dancer, I strip
• 4:59
  on a pole, Jack of all tree. She's what did you think of

  this? This is so fucking cringe, dude. And I don't know what

  came first, Like did Olivia get her bartending license first or try to and

  then Mariah copied her? Or did Mariah go first and then Olivia's copying her

  on the end? I don't know. I think it's cringe. I don't

  want to see her pretend to be like all fun and flirty and like,

  I'm just like trying to find myself and I'm like trying to find friends in

  Victoria, like because I don't want to be so bored depressed from the cold

  weather. Meanwhile, last episode, she's like, it's so magical and I

  love it Winter Wonderland. It's so magical for Ethan and I. Three weeks

  later, Yep, she hates it. She said a couple of things that
• 5:40
  I thought were pretty telling. For example, she said that people think and
• 5:45
  inspecific maybe her friends think that something might be amiss with her and with Ethan
• 5:50
  based upon the amount of time they spend together because they're not actually spending a
• 5:55
  lot of time. Yeah, And I think it's because Ethan has already found
• 5:59
  a job, He's already got some bros. He's kind of clicking back into
• 6:03
  his faith community, his Christian community, through these bros. And so he's
• 6:08
  occupied. His time is occupied, his interests are occupied. And Olivia is
• 6:12
  just sitting home in that apartment in the cold winter Victoria, Minnesota. And
• 6:16
  she's like, well, he's not allowed to live a happy life without me.
• 6:19
  Well, I'm gonna get out there and I'm going to be a bartender.
• 6:24
  I'm going to be a better one than Mariah. But I'm like,
• 6:28
  that's interesting. She's already sort of starting to Pepper in doubt about their relationship.

  She's setting up the whole narrative. It's pretty interesting. And I'm like,
• 6:38
  I don't know if people are actually making those assumptions. You've only been
• 6:41
  in Victoria for three weeks, right, nobody knows you right, nobody cares
• 6:45
  about your guys's marriage or anything like that. There's nothing wrong with having a
• 6:48
  little bit of independence in your marriage and doing your own thing. It's not
• 6:51
  like you're going outside doing yard work with your husband, fucking digging holes and
• 6:56
  shit. Now let him do his own shit. Yes, and please leave

  me alone too. I'm doing my own show. I'm watching my reality TV

  right. That's part of a healthy relationship. But it feels like it's bothering

  her. Yeah, like Ethan isn't spending enough time with her, giving her

  enough attention. He's probably working on his big dumb cars, spending time with

  his family that lives in the area, and she wants more. It's never
• 7:16
  enough, though, with Olivia, it never is. It really is never

  enough. And I don't think she's happy that he's happy there. I think
• 7:24
  she really does not like that because she took him away from his family,
• 7:28
  moved him up to Victoria and thinking that it was going to be great,
• 7:30
  We're going to work on our marriage, and now he's thriving and doing fine.

  He loves the cold, he loves the cold, and he's just chilling
• 7:38
  up there, and she's just like, how dare you? I don't think
• 7:43
  it's going to plan for Olivia, and maybe it's surprising to her as well.

  Maybe she thought she would be happier. Yeah, maybe, But I

  think she's a very cosmopolitan kind of person. I think she loved traveling across
• 7:55
  Europe. I think she loves traveling for her photography business. I think she
• 7:59
  loves kind of being in the mix of the social scene. Ethan, strikes

  me, is not that at all. So I think these differences as they're
• 8:07
  getting older, are just going to become sharper and they're going to have to
• 8:11
  make a decision. And I do believe by the end of this season we're
• 8:13
  going to have them splitting up. I'm just wondering, is it Ethan who
• 8:16
  initiates it, because in the preview we see him getting pretty mad. His
• 8:20
  tomato face is real red, really red? Or is it going to be
• 8:22
  Olivia Because Olivia has threatened divorce many times, she has separated before, So
• 8:30
  which one is going to initiate? I don't know. Oh God, I
• 8:33
  hope it's Ethan. I do too. I really hope it takes that bitch

  to the curl. Moving on, we go back to kro We've got a
• 8:41
  scene with Kim and Isaac. As we've discussed, Kim is going back to
• 8:46
  the Plath family farm because she'd like to convert it into a wedding venue,
• 8:50
  which seems like a good use of the farm. I generates some income,
• 8:54
  it's a nice piece of property, and she wants Isaac to be able to
• 8:58
  help her with some of the projects. Yeah, And as Kim tells it,

  she doesn't really get to sit down with Isaac, just the two of
• 9:03
  them, very often, and so she wants to have this time, this
• 9:07
  space so that she can break the news that she's throwing that puss it down
• 9:13
  for can Tom or laying it low and spreading it breadant wow or innocent Isaac
• 9:20
  dude, and he like doesn't know what's coming. I mean, she just
• 9:24
  brings it up too, like she doesn't really ease him into it or anything.

  She's like, I got something to say. So I'm fucking your friend,

  been fucking for the introduction. Yeah he's awesome, Yeah he's great.

  It's your new daddy. I hope you like him because he's your new daddy.

  Oh my god, this whole scene is so awkward and I just feel

  so bad for Isaac. The whole entire time, Like in his talking head,

  he's like, I don't really know what to think, Like it's sad,

  but like I want my mom to be happy, I guess, and

  so I just kind of have to accept it because it's what's happening. But

  like in the moment he tells her a like oh okay, like that's cool.

  Well, he asks, have you told dad? Yeah, and so

  he's immediately concerned about Barry. Yeah. And she also places kind of the
• 10:11
  responsibility of her meeting this guy onto Isaac, which is just wild to me
• 10:15
  that you wouldn't think that through ahead of time, what you're going to say
• 10:18
  to your son who has a pre existing relationship with this guy. But of
• 10:22
  course this is Kim. She didn't think about anything but herself. Yep.
• 10:24
  So Isaac asks after Barry, and this is where we learned that Kim had
• 10:28
  told Barry a year previous that she intended to see other people, which is
• 10:33
  code for she's probably already seen somebody and it was probably Ken. Oh yeah,
• 10:39
  totally. At the time that she told Barry a year before, Barry
• 10:41
  didn't have anything to say to that, of course, not what can you
• 10:46
  say? Yeah, He's like, I want to be married to you,
• 10:48
  but like, you're obviously making these choices. I cannot stop you. Yeah.

  All he said was well, that's really sad, because it is.
• 10:56
  And then she told him specifically that she was dating Ken, and again he
• 11:00
  just said, well, that's sad. Yeah, I bet he's angry that
• 11:03
  it's Ken. And I just also think it's really cringe that she just jumped
• 11:07
  to the first man she was introduced to that was not Barry, Like she
• 11:13
  meets Ken Palmer because of Isaac, I guess. And she's like, yeah,
• 11:16
  I thought he was a really cool guy. And I started texting him,
• 11:18
  and I knew immediately that we had a connection. I'm like, okay,
• 11:20
  so you were already trying to flirt, like right off the bat,
• 11:24
  Like I understand if your marriage was so terrible to Barry, which I'm just
• 11:28
  like, I don't see it. Kind of I don't either. I don't
• 11:31
  want to judge, but I don't want to judge. I mean, I
• 11:33
  understand it probably wasn't passionate, it wasn't super I mean, they had ten
• 11:37
  children. I feel like it was maybe a little passionate maybe. I mean,

  well, they made out in that one scene he stuck his tongue all

  the way down her throat Onnie. Yeah, so maybe it was passionate,

  but maybe not what she needed emotionally or something. I don't know. And

  I understand if you're like just ready and itchin to get out of a marriage,

  you do just want to go to like whoever is open to boinking you.

  But I'm just like, ken Palm, who are really? I mean,

  yeah, I don't really see it. And when we get to their

  date, I'm like, is there really chemistry here? This feels awkward as

  I also felt with this scene with Isaac that it was super inappropriate for

  her to divulge to Isaac that she had had this conversation with Barry, that
• 12:18
  Barry didn't tell her not to date other people, that Barry didn't respond or
• 12:24
  react the way maybe she thought that he should or would. I'm like,
• 12:26
  why are you telling your sixteen year old son, who is just trying to
• 12:31
  make it through this terrible divorce that you said you promised would never happen,
• 12:35
  not in this family, right? How do you expect him to carry that
• 12:39
  information? What do you expect him to be your friend. You wanted to
• 12:43
  be your friend in this moment, you're his mom. Yeah, that's a
• 12:46
  really good point. It was really inappropriate that she brought that up. And
• 12:48
  I also wonder if maybe she was looking for some kind of approval from him,
• 12:54
  like you know, oh, well I told your dad and he didn't
• 12:58
  react, so therefore, like he didn't care, so I'm gonna go screw

  somebody else. Like I think she was trying to get some kind of reaction

  from Isaac that would have validated what she's doing. But he's not gonna give

  her that, which is so wrong. Yeah, totally, Which kind of

  speaks to the fact that Kim doesn't really strike me as a woman with friends
• 13:18
  or a social circle. Obviously we were introduced to Mama Sue and last week

  Alicia, but these feel like fake prop friends that aren't really in her life.

  Like she doesn't seem like she has the ability to connect in a human
• 13:33
  way with anybody. Oh no, it's very strange. So she's trying to
• 13:35
  connect with her son. But I'm like, even that's inappropriate and weird.

  Kim, stop, yeah, really stop. And maybe it's because she's been

  on the farm the last twenty five years raising a bunch of children and homeschooling

  them terribly. Like maybe she didn't even have time to like branch out or

  have any friends. So now we're seeing the product of that, or like

  her midlife crisis at fifty something, just leaving a marriage of thirty years and
• 13:58
  breaking up her whole entire family for what, like because you felt a little
• 14:03
  tingle in your Kucie for Ken Palmer, I mean for Ken Palmer. God,

  I don't jay at all. After this scene, we bop on back

  to Victoria, Minnesota. We have Ethan and Olivia preparing for the visit of

  Lydia Grace and her boyfriend CJ. She bought all of her cocktails out because

  she's a mc fage. I'm a MCXA. I've got a license studying a
• 14:26
  little future bartender. So she's like making an old fashioned or so and Lydia
• 14:33
  Grace and CJ come on in. So what did you think of CJ?

  He's kind of weird, kind of a vanilla milk toasty, kind of a

  dough boy, a little bit kind of guy you date when you're too young

  to know any better. Yikes. He's kind of cringey and They're like,

  it's so awkward because Lydia and Olivia aren't like super close. Yeah, I

  mean they're trying to rebuild their relationship, as Lydia says that they had no

  relationship for the last twenty two years. And I'm like, okay, but

  a couple episodes ago, didn't you guys say you used to be friends a

  little bit before her and Ethan got married. I don't get everybody lies.

  And then Ethan's just awkward because he doesn't like people. He's socially awkward.

  Oh, he was weird. It was so weird, very strange. When

  they walk in and Ethan's just like busying himself in the kitchen and he doesn't

  really direct any conversation towards the guests. It's just like a little awkward.

  And you can tell Olivia is more gregarious and more outgoing and kind of wants

  to have a good time. So they have drinks, they sit down to

  play Two Truths and a Lie. Yeah, and this is where we learn,

  in effect that Ethan doesn't like butt stuff yeah, and Olivia does like
• 15:45
  butt stuff. Olivia is intrigued by butt stuff. I know, so he's

  never done it in her butt, I guess not. And I think she

  wants to stick a digit in his butt and he's just like, no,

  loved this whole scene. I watched it twice. I'm just like, I

  love you so much. He's basically just saying that. Over the course of

  this divorce, it's been really hard for him because it's twenty five years of

  Barry down the fucking tubes, and he was sad about it, and he

  struggled a little bit with depression, and he had those thoughts coming in of

  I'm not worthy, I'm not good enough, I'm a fuck up. And

  then he turned to his faith and turned to working out and getting jacked and

  realized that he couldn't let those thoughts get to him and that he has to
• 20:19
  be better for his kids and be better for himself. And he talks about

  how he has to couple that with taking responsibility because he knows he wasn't perfect

  to Kim. That's why they're in this predicament. That's why they're divorced,

  because he couldn't value her. But she also did some shit to him.

  He's like, I could be mad about that, but I'm sure I pissed

  her off too, and now I can learn from it. Yep. But

  have a proper education. Right. You have a technical job with a full
