- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today I want to start us off by reading a quote from one of
- 0:33my favorite authors, Anne Lamott.
- 0:36And I think this quote just screams everything that I often
- 0:40talking about with people. Lighthouses don't go running all
- 0:44over an island looking for boats to save.
- 0:46They just stand there shining. I mean, honestly, how brilliant
- 0:51is that? Because it's so true.
- 0:54Lighthouses save lives. They are beautiful.
- 0:58We flock to them when we're on the coast to look at them and
- 1:00take pictures of them. And it's such a great metaphor
- 1:03for what the job that they do, they stand there and they just
- 1:09do. They just shine.
- 1:10They just do their work and they just shine.
- 1:12And they show up consistently all the time.
- 1:15And isn't that a great metaphor for us?
- 1:18Isn't that just something for us to all think about, About how we
- 1:21have to just recognize that we need to just be able to shine,
- 1:26do our work, show up, stand there, and stop running around
- 1:30looking for people to save? I think so many of us have our
- 1:34identities tied to other people and what other people think of
- 1:39us and what we can do for other people instead of just residing
- 1:44in ourselves and focusing on the good stuff that we have within
- 1:49us to just put out there in the world.
- 1:51Just being that beacon of hope, being that beacon of light.
- 1:54I mean, honestly, that's what I try to do with this podcast is
- 1:57putting it out here and having everybody just have those
- 2:00moments of clarity that come through it.
- 2:03And I can't run around and save everybody in the world, but if
- 2:06it helps one person in the morning hear something that they
- 2:09need to in order to have a great day, it was worth all of it.
- 2:12It was worth getting up. It was worth coming out.
- 2:15It was worth creating this whole idea of doing it.
- 2:20And I, I want to stress that in our world right now, a little
- 2:26kindness goes a long way because it seems to be in a large
- 2:29deficit. So just asking someone in a, in
- 2:33a genuine way, you know, how's your day going or smiling at
- 2:37somebody or doing something simple.
- 2:41The act of paying it forward is shining a light, the buying a
- 2:46coffee for the next person in line behind you.
- 2:49I mean, we all like to think that we would do those things,
- 2:51but how much of it do we actually do?
- 2:54Do we really take the time to think about what what is the one
- 2:57thing that I can do today to be kind to somebody?
- 3:01I think people in public service out there, whether it's, you
- 3:06know, waitresses, waiters working behind the counter at
- 3:10any of our stores that we go to and frequent all the time.
- 3:14I really make it a point to ask people, how's your day going?
- 3:18And if I see someone that looks like they're off, I'll often say
- 3:22to them, hey, I'm sorry you're having a bad day.
- 3:24I hope it gets better for you. And you'd be surprised how many
- 3:27people, when you say that, don't get angry.
- 3:30They look at it and they say, thank you.
- 3:32I really needed to hear that. Or you just smile at somebody
- 3:36and you say something nice about them.
- 3:39Oh my gosh, it just changes everything because so many
- 3:42people are just depleted. So the theory of the lighthouse
- 3:45about putting your light out there, it doesn't have to be
- 3:48complicated. It can be super simple.
- 3:51You know, I, I get, obviously with all these chickens, I have
- 3:56a lot of eggs and we don't sell our eggs.
- 3:59I give them away to people. I like to make them happy and I
- 4:02just like to give them away. So a lot of people that come out
- 4:05here to drop stuff off, we live way out in the middle of nowhere
- 4:09and I have lots of stuff shipped in, but I have water delivery
- 4:13and we get those five gallon jugs of water delivered.
- 4:16And my water guy is just the sweetest, sweetest kid.
- 4:21And I couple months ago I started giving him eggs and
- 4:25today he delivered the water and I said to him, hey, do you need
- 4:29eggs? And he's like, oh, I always need
- 4:31your eggs. They're awesome.
- 4:33I'm so excited. He goes, I love it when I get
- 4:35this route. I love that I get to come out
- 4:37here and see your chickens. I love that you get your eggs.
- 4:39He goes, it's so kind of you to share them.
- 4:41And I'm like, they are absolutely abundant.
- 4:45All the girls are happy to provide them for everybody.
- 4:47And you can just see him light up when he gets these eggs.
- 4:53And to me, it's like the easiest thing in the world.
- 4:56Package them up and give away a rainbow in a box.
- 5:00And it makes me happy. It fills my heart to do that.
- 5:04So when you act like the lighthouse and you turn the
- 5:07light on and you put those things out there, you are
- 5:10getting yourself into an amazing state for attracting what you
- 5:15want in life. You're also shining the light on
- 5:18somebody else and helping light the way for them, and you're
- 5:21filling yourself back up in the process.
- 5:23So go out there today. Find a way to shine a light.
- 5:27Be that lighthouse. Listen to that theory.
- 5:31Don't go running all over the place to try to find people to
- 5:35save. Just put your light on and be
- 5:37happy. Walk around and just be bright.
- 5:41Show off that piece of it and you will find a way to help
- 5:45brighten somebody else's day, I promise.
- 5:48I hope you guys have a very blessed day and I will see you
- 5:50all tomorrow. Bye.
