- 0:00So in a world that's so focused on professional
- 0:03development, how can companies actually help
- 0:07employees enrich their personal and cultural
- 0:10lives? That's a great question. Well, today we're
- 0:13looking at a really inspiring example from the
- 0:16Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, or DIWA.
- 0:19Okay, so during the recent holy month of Ramadan.
- 0:22Yeah. DIWA's Women Committee launched this whole
- 0:25series of initiatives. They were aimed at strengthening
- 0:27the very fabric of community, you know, family
- 0:31and societal bonds. Wow. And this wasn't about
- 0:34spreadsheets or deadlines. It was purely about
- 0:37connection. Exactly. They organized awareness
- 0:41lectures and these hands -on workshops for over
- 0:43200 female employees. 200? Wow. Yeah, and it
- 0:48was in collaboration with a group called Huam
- 0:50Culinary Arts Canvas. Okay. And these sessions,
- 0:53they focused on everything from essential cooking
- 0:56and baking skills to the traditions of local
- 0:59hospitality. That's such a powerful way to promote
- 1:02the values of Ramadan, right? Cohesion, tolerance,
- 1:06and respect. Totally. The driving force behind
- 1:09this was explained just perfectly by Fatima al
- 1:12-Jokhar, who's the chairperson of the Diwa Women's
- 1:15Committee. She said, and I'm quoting here, During
- 1:18the holy month of Ramadan, we celebrate our cultural
- 1:21identity by equipping female employees with practical
- 1:24skills that reflect a harmonious blend of authentic
- 1:27local heritage and contemporary creativity. While
- 1:31keeping pace with the rhythm of life in this
- 1:33blessed month that embodies the highest values
- 1:36of compassion, generosity, and goodwill. And
- 1:40she goes on. Throughout the UAE's Year of Family,
- 1:45we are keen to empower female employees to achieve
- 1:47balance between their professional and personal
- 1:50lives and encourage them to invest their time
- 1:53in strengthening family, social, and professional
- 1:56connections. That's the key right there. Exactly.
- 1:59And the final part is we also place great emphasis
- 2:03on preserving national identity and passing on
- 2:06our cultural heritage to future generations in
- 2:09a modern and meaningful manner. That statement,
- 2:12it really just says it all. This is such a multi
- 2:14-layered initiative. It really is. It's about
- 2:17empowerment. It's about achieving that work -life
- 2:20balance. And I think crucially. Yeah. It's about
- 2:24ensuring cultural heritage isn't just some memory,
- 2:27but it's a living, breathing part of the future.
- 2:30Right. A living thing. And with participants
- 2:33just praising the events, it's so clear the effort
- 2:36made a real, tangible impact. It's such a powerful
- 2:39reminder that a company's greatest asset is its
- 2:42people. Absolutely. And investing in their well
- 2:45-being, their family, and their culture, well,
- 2:47that can yield the most meaningful returns of
- 2:50all. So that brings us to a question we'd like
- 2:53you all to think about. In an increasingly globalized
- 2:56world, what is the responsibility of a modern
- 3:00workplace in actively preserving and, you know,
- 3:03passing on local culture?
