- 0:01Speaker 1: Charge about.
- 0:04Speaker 2: All right, So here's the plan.
- 0:06Speaker 3: CBS put out an article titled what all thirty MLB
- 0:09Speaker 3: teams should be thankful for. We don't have time to
- 0:12Speaker 3: run through all thirty of them, and some of them
- 0:14Speaker 3: I think are more notable than others. So we will
- 0:19Speaker 3: pick out a few of our favorites and KP, you
- 0:22Speaker 3: can take the rock first and pick out some favorites
- 0:24Speaker 3: from that list.
- 0:25Speaker 4: What do you like?
- 0:26Speaker 5: Okay?
- 0:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I wrote two down here, and I kind of
- 0:29Speaker 4: wanted to give at least one team that we don't
- 0:32Speaker 4: spend a lot of time talking about team that I
- 0:34Speaker 4: played for, kind of near and dear to my heart.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I'm going to go with the Angels and Joe Odell's
- 0:39Speaker 4: kind of breakout season in terms of power, he did
- 0:42Speaker 4: hit thirty seven homers. The on base percentage, which I
- 0:45Speaker 4: know a thing or two about having a low one
- 0:48Speaker 4: was still two ninety three. But when I was with
- 0:50Speaker 4: him in twenty three, he talked about his potential of
- 0:53Speaker 4: being this thirty forty homer home run type of guy.
- 0:58Speaker 4: And at that time, I think his career high was
- 1:00Speaker 4: maybe even under twenty at the time, and you know,
- 1:03Speaker 4: as a guy who's been in the game. I'm like,
- 1:04Speaker 4: it's kind of disrespectful for you to talk about you
- 1:07Speaker 4: being this elite power hitter when you haven't shown it yet.
- 1:10Speaker 4: And trust me, this guy puts on one of the
- 1:12Speaker 4: best BPS I've ever seen. But I know how important
- 1:14Speaker 4: BP is in terms of actually showing power in the game.
- 1:18Speaker 4: So good for Joe for believing in himself and actually
- 1:21Speaker 4: going out and you know, putting his money where his
- 1:23Speaker 4: mouth is and hitting thirty seven homers. Now that he's
- 1:26Speaker 4: proven he has, you know, thirty five forty homer potential,
- 1:29Speaker 4: I think he has to spend a little bit more
- 1:31Speaker 4: time being a little bit more selective at the plate
- 1:33Speaker 4: in order to really take that next step, and he
- 1:36Speaker 4: did a decent job of, you know, switching from right
- 1:39Speaker 4: field to centerfield. I think he's part of kind of
- 1:41Speaker 4: that young core of the future of the Angels, and
- 1:45Speaker 4: he's still young. He's been in the league for you know,
- 1:47Speaker 4: four years now, and he's still I think twenty five
- 1:50Speaker 4: years old, So he's.
- 1:52Speaker 5: Part of the future there.
- 1:53Speaker 4: And then the second one that stood out to me,
- 1:54Speaker 4: which I thought was kind of a funny headline was
- 1:56Speaker 4: the Baltimore Orioles and it just said season's over. We're
- 2:00Speaker 4: thankful that it's over, and I think that team's just
- 2:02Speaker 4: got too much talent to be bottom of the barrel
- 2:05Speaker 4: of the AL East. I know it's a very competitive division,
- 2:08Speaker 4: but they got so much young talent. They got a
- 2:11Speaker 4: new manager there that's coming in hopefully he can kind
- 2:14Speaker 4: of turn that ship around. And I love the new
- 2:17Speaker 4: ownership group there. I feel as like they have this
- 2:20Speaker 4: kind of passion like a Steve Cohen has, that this
- 2:23Speaker 4: isn't about making money for them. This is about putting
- 2:27Speaker 4: a winner on the field, and I think they're going
- 2:28Speaker 4: to go out and spend some money to add to
- 2:30Speaker 4: this already exciting young corps of guys. But I thought
- 2:34Speaker 4: it was a kind of a clever sort of what
- 2:36Speaker 4: they're thankful for just that the season was over.
- 2:39Speaker 2: That was one of the more crafty answers, and it
- 2:41Speaker 2: was on point.
- 2:42Speaker 5: You're right.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Yeah, there's some core players there to be excited about,
- 2:45Speaker 3: and there's a pitching staff that needs a lot of
- 2:49Speaker 3: work and there's a lot of time this offseason to
- 2:51Speaker 3: get that done. I like those two Krafts, you have
- 2:54Speaker 3: two three whatever, I've got like ten bolded. So whatever
- 2:57Speaker 3: you don't pick, I'll probably rapid fire through the rest
- 2:59Speaker 3: of them.
- 3:00Speaker 6: My two are what they said about the Brewers. Bryce
- 3:03Speaker 6: Terran kind of it's not even a coming out year
- 3:06Speaker 6: because he's a Platinum Glove winner all that stuff, but
- 3:09Speaker 6: it was more of like a coming out month when
- 3:10Speaker 6: he hit I think it was like fourteen home runs
- 3:14Speaker 6: in August. Like, this is a guy when you look
- 3:16Speaker 6: at him, you're like, I'm.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Not sure he plays on the team.
- 3:20Speaker 6: Like he's a skinny, wiry type of player that has
- 3:25Speaker 6: kind of emerged from the first rounder that he that
- 3:28Speaker 6: he was back in twenty seventeen or eighteen. But he
- 3:34Speaker 6: kind of encapsulates what the Brewers are. It's a bunch
- 3:37Speaker 6: of dudes that do what they do successfully for one
- 3:42Speaker 6: hundred and sixty two games.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So I love that headline.
- 3:45Speaker 6: And I think Thanksgiving is always a time when, hopefully,
- 3:48Speaker 6: when I sit around the table with my family, my
- 3:50Speaker 6: dad is always like, hey, you know, i'd like before
- 3:52Speaker 6: we eat, everybody say what they're really thankful for. And
- 3:55Speaker 6: sometimes it's things that are brought up that, yeah, are
- 3:59Speaker 6: like monumental for this year or whatever, or things that
- 4:03Speaker 6: we've kind of missed other years, but we take it
- 4:05Speaker 6: for granted. And then at Thanksgiving, you're thankful for it.
- 4:09Speaker 6: That's why I picked the New York Yankees. They have
- 4:11Speaker 6: the best hitter on the planet. Shohiotani is still the
- 4:15Speaker 6: best player. Juan Soto is still awesome. Aaron Judge is
- 4:20Speaker 6: the best hitter on the planet, and I think he
- 4:22Speaker 6: is forgotten. So at Thanksgiving, why not give a little
- 4:25Speaker 6: bit more thanks for the things that maybe you don't
- 4:29Speaker 6: really you're not really that thankful for throughout the year,
- 4:32Speaker 6: as much as you should be thankful, you take it
- 4:34Speaker 6: for granted. And you can't take Aaron Judge for granted.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Good call.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah, stuff that eventually gets into expectation status, but you
- 4:43Speaker 3: still need to make sure you're grateful for it because
- 4:45Speaker 3: eventually it won't be there anymore.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Every career comes to an end. I'll add a few
- 4:50Speaker 2: more some quick hitters.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I mean, I think we have to mention the Dodgers
- 4:54Speaker 3: back to back titles. You don't see that very often folks.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Quarter century. So I think Dodger fans are pretty appreciative
- 5:02Speaker 3: of what they've gotten here the last couple of years.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I think many of them didn't expect to win the
- 5:06Speaker 3: World Series last year, especially one loss away from elimination
- 5:09Speaker 3: against the Padres, and then this year there were plenty
- 5:11Speaker 3: of moments where they probably thought, I don't know, it
- 5:15Speaker 3: was not a cake walk in the World Series for them,
- 5:17Speaker 3: and they pulled it off. Next one here on my list, KP,
- 5:21Speaker 3: I think you'd like this one. A thirty homer season
- 5:24Speaker 3: from a San Francisco Giant player, Williadamis pulled it off,
- 5:27Speaker 3: and he's a guy they spent a lot of money
- 5:29Speaker 3: on the reason why it stands out is he was
- 5:31Speaker 3: the first one to pull it off. It's twenty twenty
- 5:33Speaker 3: five right now, since two thousand and four Barry Bonds.
- 5:37Speaker 3: That's crazy how long they went without a thirty homer season,
- 5:40Speaker 3: not a forty, not a fifty, a thirty homer season,
- 5:43Speaker 3: and Adamas was catching a lot of crap in the
- 5:45Speaker 3: beginning of the season because he had a slow start.
- 5:47Speaker 3: He ended up having a pretty nice year for them.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Yeah. I looked at that one too.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I was going to touch that one too, obviously a
- 5:53Speaker 4: place I played too, and I think when I got
- 5:55Speaker 4: traded over there there there was also even a small
- 5:58Speaker 4: gap from maybe the last time that Barry had played
- 6:02Speaker 4: to even a twenty home run hitter that played the outfield,
- 6:05Speaker 4: and I was the first guy to do that, and
- 6:07Speaker 4: hitting twenty home runs is not like a great feed.
- 6:10Speaker 4: It was a great feat for me, but the fact
- 6:13Speaker 4: that no one had hit thirty home runs, and I
- 6:15Speaker 4: know it's not the best ballpark to hit in, but
- 6:17Speaker 4: I think it's just it's good that someone was able
- 6:19Speaker 4: to do it, because it's been a long time since
- 6:21Speaker 4: Barry did it. But I think it's also good that
- 6:23Speaker 4: Willia Domas was the guy to do it because they
- 6:25Speaker 4: went out and spent a lot of money on him.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Some people would say maybe they overspent on him, but
- 6:30Speaker 4: you know, he got up to a slow start, but
- 6:32Speaker 4: he is such a lovable guy. He's a leader, he's
- 6:35Speaker 4: a great shortstop. And for the fact for him to
- 6:37Speaker 4: be the first guy in you know, over twenty years
- 6:40Speaker 4: to go out and hit thirty home runs, money well
- 6:42Speaker 4: spent by the San Francisco Giants, and hopefully that kind
- 6:45Speaker 4: of leads to some more spending.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Hey, for all the parents out there with teens, it's

- 7:49Speaker 3: Next up, Seattle cal Raley sixty homers sets a record
- 7:53Speaker 3: for catchers for switch hitters for any Mariners player in
- 7:56Speaker 3: a single season and brought the team pretty damn far
- 7:58Speaker 3: in the postseason.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Two crats.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I mean, we're probably never going to see something like
- 8:03Speaker 3: that again from a home run perspective. Chances, Let's say
- 8:06Speaker 3: say in the next twenty years that a catcher hits
- 8:09Speaker 3: sixty or more homers, not high.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I'll take the under.
- 8:14Speaker 6: I mean, if it's if it's said at zero point
- 8:16Speaker 6: five times it happens, I'll take the under. It is
- 8:19Speaker 6: so crazy what he did, not saying he should be
- 8:22Speaker 6: the MVP, but just saying what he did.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And then he never faded.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Yes, his batting average faded a little bit, but his
- 8:30Speaker 6: home runs I think he had five total in the postseason,
- 8:34Speaker 6: and he brought his team pretty much as close as
- 8:37Speaker 6: you can get to going all the way. So I
- 8:40Speaker 6: think it's something that I'm glad I got to watch it.
- 8:42Speaker 6: I'm glad we got to chronicle it this year on
- 8:45Speaker 6: this show. And man, like, you don't know what he's
- 8:50Speaker 6: gonna do next year, But if he hits forty eight homers,
- 8:53Speaker 6: are people gonna be like, oh, he's regressing. It's like
- 8:56Speaker 6: that's a good regression year. If he hits forty eight pumps.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Yeah, it reminds me. It reminds me of the record
- 9:03Speaker 5: with Yeah traveled with.
- 9:07Speaker 4: I was with Matt Olson when he hit the fifty
- 9:09Speaker 4: four homers, the old time record for the Atlanta Braves,
- 9:12Speaker 4: and it was just it seemed like it was so easy.
- 9:14Speaker 5: For him to do.
- 9:15Speaker 4: And then the following year, I think he he he
- 9:17Speaker 4: came back and hit like forty homers and it's like, no,
- 9:20Speaker 4: it's this crazy regression. It's like no, just what he
- 9:23Speaker 4: did was so special in that year, And it's going
- 9:25Speaker 4: to be so tough because, to your point, Kratz, everyone
- 9:29Speaker 4: he's gonna he's proven that he has legitimate power, that
- 9:32Speaker 4: he's an MVP type of player, But the realistic chances
- 9:36Speaker 4: of him even hitting fifty homers to follow up the
- 9:38Speaker 4: year he had next year is going to be so rare,
- 9:42Speaker 4: so slim that he does that, that whatever he does
- 9:44Speaker 4: is going to seem like he took a major step back.
- 9:47Speaker 4: But really it's just going to show how historic of
- 9:49Speaker 4: a year that he really did.
- 9:50Speaker 7: Have.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Three more.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I'll let you comment on the last one here. Geraldo
- 9:54Speaker 3: Perdomo's breakout a seven wins season wins above replacement wise
- 10:00Speaker 3: finished in fourth place.
- 10:01Speaker 2: In n L MVP.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I don't think anybody had him as a top five
- 10:03Speaker 3: finisher in MVP that was a breakout year. He adds
- 10:06Speaker 3: to the core of Corbyn, Carrol and ca Tell Marte
- 10:08Speaker 3: if he sticks around Cleveland with the greatest comeback ever
- 10:13Speaker 3: to win a division from down fifteen and a half
- 10:15Speaker 3: games and also erasing an eleven game deficit in September.
- 10:20Speaker 3: And lastly, I'll let you guys comment with a trivia
- 10:22Speaker 3: answer if you have it. Trek Scouble winning back to
- 10:25Speaker 3: back cy Young Awards were going over reasons to be
- 10:27Speaker 3: thankful for teams who are the only two pitchers to
- 10:31Speaker 3: win three straight cy Young Awards.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Randy Johnson, Yes, I'd say Roger Clemons Maddox would have
- 10:43Speaker 4: been my have my.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Maddocks Maddox is the other one, guys, not Clemens. Three
- 10:49Speaker 3: in a row at least I gotta look at when,
- 10:51Speaker 3: but not three in a row. I mean maybe two
- 10:53Speaker 3: in a row, but not three in a row. According
- 10:55Speaker 3: to this article, So Trek Scooble has a chance to
- 10:58Speaker 3: do it in what would be his free agent season. Actually,
- 11:02Speaker 3: one more bonus went on the way out Blue Jays
- 11:04Speaker 3: for signing Ladie Junior to five hundred MILKP. Otherwise we
- 11:07Speaker 3: would be talking about him all off season long coming
- 11:09Speaker 3: off a ridiculous postseason performance. If anything changed and he
- 11:14Speaker 3: ended up playing in the postseason like he did, we
- 11:17Speaker 3: would be like, oh wow, this is going to bring
- 11:19Speaker 3: a lot of heat on the Jas to try and
- 11:20Speaker 3: keep him.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And instead they got it done in spring training.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, hopefully that's a kind of you know,
- 11:25Speaker 4: playbook for maybe like the Detroit Tigers to not let
- 11:28Speaker 4: Trek spuebl walk. You know, maybe you have to quote
- 11:31Speaker 4: unquote overpay a little bit to keep your guy there.
- 11:34Speaker 4: But like you said, I mean, if if the Blue
- 11:36Speaker 4: Jays did not sign him the type of season he
- 11:39Speaker 4: had and more importantly, the type of postseason he had,
- 11:41Speaker 4: putting that team on his back, you know, arguably being
- 11:44Speaker 4: the best player on the field every time he stepped
- 11:46Speaker 4: on the field, he would be all we would be
- 11:49Speaker 4: talking about in free agency right now. So good for
- 11:50Speaker 4: the Blue Jays to you know, quote unquote overspend a
- 11:53Speaker 4: little bit to keep their guy there. Hopefully some other
- 11:56Speaker 4: teams kind of, you know, kind of follow that kind
- 11:58Speaker 4: of playbook the Blue Jays put up there.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Off season to do list for the Rangers.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Who but Evan Grant, Dallas Morning News Rangers Feed writer,
- 12:06Speaker 3: He's going to lay it out, Evan, good to see
- 12:08Speaker 3: you as always, and we'll do what we do on
- 12:10Speaker 3: these First just give us all three the top three
- 12:14Speaker 3: on the offseason to do list in your mind for
- 12:16Speaker 3: Texas and then we'll dig into that.
- 12:20Speaker 7: Well. I think they've checked off one item already and
- 12:24Speaker 7: that was the trim the payroll. They were not going
- 12:27Speaker 7: to go to the CBT threshold for twenty twenty six
- 12:33Speaker 7: and they want to be significantly below it, and I
- 12:35Speaker 7: think with the actions that they've taken in the last
- 12:37Speaker 7: ten days they've accomplished that. Now, the money that they've
- 12:41Speaker 7: saved with the demo for Simion deal with non tendering
- 12:46Speaker 7: Adulas Garcia and non tendering Jonahian, that's got to go
- 12:50Speaker 7: to rebuild a bullpen that really overachieved last year. It
- 12:53Speaker 7: was a bullpen built on the cheap, and it overachieved.
- 12:57Speaker 7: The Rangers may have some guys come, I don't think
- 13:00Speaker 7: they're going to be ready for the start of the year,
- 13:03Speaker 7: but they've got to go out and get all the
- 13:06Speaker 7: pieces in the bullpen all over again. I think the
- 13:09Speaker 7: only guys who are returning are Jake Latz, who very
- 13:12Speaker 7: well could be in the starting rotation, Robert Garcia, who
- 13:16Speaker 7: ended up pitching some high leverage innings last year. Cole
- 13:19Speaker 7: Winn kind of established himself as a big league reliever,
- 13:22Speaker 7: but there's a lot still to do in the bullpen.
- 13:25Speaker 7: And then the last thing for me is they've got
- 13:27Speaker 7: to get a catcher without hanback there Kyle Hagashioka. I
- 13:32Speaker 7: don't expect Kyle to start eighty plus games, so I
- 13:36Speaker 7: think they've got to go out and get somebody who
- 13:40Speaker 7: is capable of sharing the load with him. It's not
- 13:43Speaker 7: a straight backup. I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of
- 13:47Speaker 7: like a Victor Karratini. But even a Victor Karattini is
- 13:50Speaker 7: going to cost six or seven million dollars this year,
- 13:52Speaker 7: and that would cut into, you know, what they've got
- 13:55Speaker 7: to do in the bullpen. So they've got their work
- 13:59Speaker 7: cut out for him. It's a thin market at catcher.
- 14:02Speaker 7: I don't think they're players andreal Muto because of the price,
- 14:05Speaker 7: and I ultimately expect him go to Philadelphia or since
- 14:08Speaker 7: Boston has reached out, but they do need to go
- 14:11Speaker 7: and get somebody who can catch some innings ahead of Kyle.
- 14:14Speaker 7: And Higgey really produced for the Rangers last year, but
- 14:16Speaker 7: he had a number of, you know, small nagging injuries
- 14:22Speaker 7: that kind of limited his ability to play, and the
- 14:24Speaker 7: Rangers have to be mindful of that.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Hey have them. Good to see you again. I'm going
- 14:29Speaker 5: to touch on the how we're doing. We're good, We're good.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Good to see you.
- 14:34Speaker 4: I want to touch on the bullpen again since I
- 14:37Speaker 4: was there and I kind of know the bullpen kind
- 14:39Speaker 4: of through and.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Through last year.
- 14:41Speaker 4: They used Luke Jackson, Chris Martin, Robert Garcia, Seawan Armstrong
- 14:47Speaker 4: at times to close games. Do you see them kind
- 14:50Speaker 4: of dipping in the waters of potential a high end closer?
- 14:54Speaker 4: And of those guys that I mentioned, the Shawn Armstrongs,
- 14:57Speaker 4: the Hoby Milleners, which guy do you see they feel
- 15:00Speaker 4: is the most important to bring back?
- 15:02Speaker 7: Well, you know, they feel like lefty lefty pitchers are
- 15:05Speaker 7: more successful in a globalife field, and obviously Milner with
- 15:08Speaker 7: a local connection is somebody I think that they'd like
- 15:11Speaker 7: to have back. I thought Sean Armstrong was just absolutely outstanding.
- 15:15Speaker 7: He dominated right handed hitters last year, I think, and
- 15:19Speaker 7: you can speak to this better than I can, but
- 15:21Speaker 7: I do think he was the glue that kind of
- 15:23Speaker 7: helped that bullpen bond. And I think they're gonna need
- 15:27Speaker 7: somebody like that, a veteran that you know, can bring
- 15:31Speaker 7: a group that's reformed on the fly together. I'd like
- 15:36Speaker 7: to see them go out and get an established closer.
- 15:39Speaker 7: You know, since Joe Nathan was here in twenty twelve,
- 15:42Speaker 7: in twenty thirteen, Rangers have not had an established closer.
- 15:47Speaker 7: It's pretty much been a rotation of guys who have
- 15:50Speaker 7: just come and gone and coming gone without any real
- 15:53Speaker 7: stability at the back end of the bullpen. But you know,
- 15:57Speaker 7: even a guy like say a Devin Williams of he's
- 15:59Speaker 7: gonna be and I make good kind of contract after
- 16:01Speaker 7: some after some downtimes last year, what's that going to
- 16:05Speaker 7: cost ten million bucks or more? So? I don't see
- 16:08Speaker 7: them playing in the closer market. And I think their
- 16:11Speaker 7: general philosophy dating back to John Daniels, is that closer
- 16:16Speaker 7: money is, especially on a multi year deal, is bad money.
- 16:21Speaker 5: And I know, I know Bochie's not there anymore.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Of a Bochie's kind of superpower was kind of figuring
- 16:26Speaker 4: out bullpen matchups, you know, riding the hot hand. What
- 16:30Speaker 4: do you see the difference in a guy like Skip Schumacher.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Is he more of a Roles type of guy. Where
- 16:34Speaker 4: is he kind of a you know who's hot, we're
- 16:37Speaker 4: going to use closure by committee or is he more
- 16:39Speaker 4: of like a traditional like I like to have my
- 16:42Speaker 4: lefty specialists, my closer, my setup guy. If everything worked
- 16:46Speaker 4: out in a perfect world, I.
- 16:48Speaker 7: Think that's going to kind of depend on the personnel
- 16:51Speaker 7: that you get, you know. I think that the Rangers
- 16:53Speaker 7: are going to go into camp and there's gonna be
- 16:55Speaker 7: a lot of competition for roles in all likelihood, uh,
- 16:58Speaker 7: and they will let that kind of as it goes.
- 17:02Speaker 7: I think Skip is very amenable to him being malleable
- 17:07Speaker 7: to what the pitchers have for him, rather than designating
- 17:11Speaker 7: rules or dictating that it's going to be a roleless bullpen.
- 17:15Speaker 7: I think he's going to let it play out a
- 17:17Speaker 7: little bit see where it goes. That is, we know
- 17:22Speaker 7: what Boach did with bullpens in multiple spots, you know,
- 17:26Speaker 7: and he came with that reputation. Skip's only had two years,
- 17:31Speaker 7: one with a competitive team and one with a team
- 17:33Speaker 7: that was being turned over completely. And so I don't
- 17:37Speaker 7: know that there's a whole lot of trends on who
- 17:39Speaker 7: Skip Schumacher is as a bullpen manager at this point.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Kratz we picked you to talk about Meundi's not just
- 17:47Speaker 3: because they're ridiculously comfortable, but also because they're very festive.
- 17:52Speaker 3: When the holiday season hits, you go on the website
- 17:55Speaker 3: and there are just so many more designs to check out,
- 17:58Speaker 3: and they just scream Eric krats getting little matching sets
- 18:03Speaker 3: with everybody that he knows.
- 18:05Speaker 1: You know what.
- 18:06Speaker 6: They're called me Undies, not you undies. So you go
- 18:09Speaker 6: in and you say, this one's for me, this set
- 18:12Speaker 6: is for me, this is what is good for me,
- 18:15Speaker 6: not you undies. Me Undies a lot of different ones
- 18:18Speaker 6: to choose from.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I'm so confused, But what I do know is that
- 18:21Speaker 3: you can knock out all of your holiday gifting needs
- 18:24Speaker 3: today with me undies.
- 18:25Speaker 2: And to get the.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Exclusive holiday deals up to fifty percent off meyundies dot
- 18:30Speaker 3: com slash foul enter promo code foul. That's me undies
- 18:34Speaker 3: dot com slash foul promo code is foul for up
- 18:39Speaker 3: to fifty percent off matching holiday prints with your person.
- 18:43Speaker 3: You can't beat that.
- 18:45Speaker 6: All right now, all you talked about is money, money, money, money, Okay,
- 18:49Speaker 6: so we got to get some more money off of that.
- 18:51Speaker 6: He trend a little bit of payroll but you don't
- 18:52Speaker 6: have enough to spend Evan so.
- 18:55Speaker 7: I know where I know where this is going.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Where is it going?
- 19:00Speaker 5: Well, I mean, what's or where is he going?
- 19:03Speaker 1: Don't don't lead the witness. It was your words that
- 19:07Speaker 1: were misconstrued. I do think.
- 19:13Speaker 7: Look, I do think the Rangers have to at least
- 19:15Speaker 7: be open to the idea of if they've got to
- 19:18Speaker 7: trim more more payroll and they want to add quality players.
- 19:24Speaker 7: And this was all before the Nemo Semion deal, but
- 19:27Speaker 7: you've got to at least be open if somebody approaches
- 19:29Speaker 7: you about Corey Seeger or Jacob de Gram, you've got
- 19:32Speaker 7: to listen. Now, de Graham has a complete no trade clause.
- 19:35Speaker 7: I think it's going to be hard to trade him.
- 19:37Speaker 7: Seeger has limited no trade protection and after next year
- 19:41Speaker 7: he would have full no trade as a five to
- 19:44Speaker 7: ten guy. But I don't think the Rangers are motivated
- 19:48Speaker 7: to trade either guy. And I think, quite frankly, as
- 19:50Speaker 7: far as twenty twenty six goes and the needs that
- 19:53Speaker 7: they needed to meet, that Nemo for Simion deal on
- 19:56Speaker 7: the short term really is going to pay dividends because
- 19:59Speaker 7: it saves you a eleven million dollars. And I thought
- 20:01Speaker 7: the most they'd be able to save on Simeon was
- 20:04Speaker 7: about five or six million, and if they did that,
- 20:07Speaker 7: they weren't going to get a real quality player in return.
- 20:11Speaker 7: They've gotten a guy who slides right into the outfield mix,
- 20:14Speaker 7: and that's where they needed to really backfill. So I
- 20:18Speaker 7: think that it changes the dynamic a little bit, and
- 20:21Speaker 7: I don't think that the Rangers are going to be
- 20:23Speaker 7: motivated necessarily to move Corey Seger. I think the challenge
- 20:28Speaker 7: right now is going to be for Chris Young to
- 20:29Speaker 7: say to Ray Davis, hey, look, if you want us
- 20:32Speaker 7: to get to two hundred, we can do that. I
- 20:35Speaker 7: don't know if we can completely contend. If you give
- 20:38Speaker 7: me another ten million dollars and we get to two
- 20:40Speaker 7: ten and we're it's still a full ten percent fifteen
- 20:43Speaker 7: percent cut from what the payroll was in twenty twenty five.
- 20:48Speaker 7: I think the Rangers have some ability to add a
- 20:50Speaker 7: couple more pieces that they really need in the bullpen.
- 20:53Speaker 6: But doesn't this question about Corey Seger getting moved kind
- 20:59Speaker 6: of be because or has to be brought up because
- 21:02Speaker 6: of the fact that they went on a hot.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Stretch when he was out.
- 21:08Speaker 6: When he came back and wasn't necessarily playing his best
- 21:11Speaker 6: because his value will be never greater than it is
- 21:15Speaker 6: today because of the fact that he comes off another injury,
- 21:19Speaker 6: a few injuries during the season. But I think he
- 21:21Speaker 6: had like above a six war. He's still thirty thirty
- 21:27Speaker 6: one years old today. I thought he was thirty two.
- 21:29Speaker 6: He'd be thirty two during the season. Like, you're still
- 21:32Speaker 6: looking at a elite level shortstop with teams that could
- 21:37Speaker 6: use a player like that that will impact their team
- 21:39Speaker 6: for three years, and they still won without it.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Is it? Are we?
- 21:43Speaker 6: Are we ignorant to say that the Rangers shouldn't be
- 21:47Speaker 6: listening to this.
- 21:49Speaker 7: No, I mean I think that they should listen if
- 21:52Speaker 7: there's if there's conversation. I don't know that they are
- 21:54Speaker 7: motivated to move him. I do think that there are
- 21:57Speaker 7: teams that are going to be interested and will approach
- 21:59Speaker 7: the Rangers, and then that's when it gets interesting. But
- 22:02Speaker 7: to your point, I say, I think that was a
- 22:04Speaker 7: very short sample size that we were looking at in
- 22:07Speaker 7: September of this year when you had that full influx
- 22:11Speaker 7: of young kids and it kind of energized everybody. You
- 22:14Speaker 7: look at the numbers when Seger starts for the Rangers
- 22:17Speaker 7: versus when he doesn't over the four years that he's
- 22:20Speaker 7: been here, and it is there is a significant difference.
- 22:23Speaker 7: He makes a huge difference on the plus side offensively.
- 22:27Speaker 7: So I don't think the Rangers would look at that
- 22:30Speaker 7: and see what happened in September and say, hey, we
- 22:32Speaker 7: can win without Corey Seeger. They know that Corey Seger
- 22:35Speaker 7: is the anchor to their offense.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to go back to the Marcus Simeon trade.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Do you believe this was strictly money motivated? Do you
- 22:45Speaker 4: think this has anything to do with their internal belief
- 22:49Speaker 4: in finding a place for Josh Smith to play? And lastly,
- 22:53Speaker 4: is it just you know, kind of breaking up the
- 22:55Speaker 4: band a little bit? You know, they had this World
- 22:57Speaker 4: Series championship a couple of years ago, they haven't had
- 23:00Speaker 4: a lot of success, and they felt like they needed
- 23:02Speaker 4: to just kind of break it up a little bit.
- 23:05Speaker 7: I think I think it's all part of it.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Kevin.
- 23:08Speaker 7: I think you know, and you saw this when you
- 23:10Speaker 7: were here that twenty twenty three team. So many players
- 23:15Speaker 7: have now moved on from it, and that's a long
- 23:18Speaker 7: time ago in baseball years, and the idea that hey,
- 23:22Speaker 7: maybe this was kind of a one off thing. There's more,
- 23:26Speaker 7: there's more substance there. Right, The Rangers had four losing
- 23:29Speaker 7: seasons before twenty three. They've had two non winning seasons
- 23:33Speaker 7: since twenty three, and so they may need to change
- 23:36Speaker 7: some of the personnel add to that. Look at the
- 23:39Speaker 7: three big moves the Rangers have made in terms of
- 23:41Speaker 7: moving on from players in the past year in the
- 23:44Speaker 7: past two weeks who were all part of that twenty
- 23:47Speaker 7: twenty three season. Marcus Simeon, Adolas Garcia, Jonahan all had
- 23:51Speaker 7: consecutive seasons with down trending ops's all below seven hundred.
- 23:58Speaker 7: You know, one year is a slump. Two years is
- 24:01Speaker 7: a trend, especially with players getting into their thirties, and
- 24:03Speaker 7: I think the Rangers were very cognizant of that. And
- 24:07Speaker 7: to your point about Josh Smith, Look, I'm not sure
- 24:11Speaker 7: if Josh Smith is an everyday player or if he's
- 24:13Speaker 7: a just a great super utility player. I think there's
- 24:16Speaker 7: still some questions about he's got to figure out a
- 24:20Speaker 7: way to hold up a little bit better in the
- 24:21Speaker 7: second half because the second half falloffs have been really,
- 24:27Speaker 7: really significant. But he's a good fielding second baseman. He
- 24:32Speaker 7: can play the position. He's shown the Rangers the ability,
- 24:37Speaker 7: at least for the first half of the season, to
- 24:38Speaker 7: be a very productive everyday player, and so I think
- 24:42Speaker 7: the Rangers are open to the idea that Josh Smith
- 24:46Speaker 7: would get the first shot to kind of lock that
- 24:50Speaker 7: spot down. I think it also presents the opportunity for
- 24:53Speaker 7: Ezekiel Durant, who we all have looked at and said,
- 24:56Speaker 7: this guy's a really talented athlete, why is he not producing.
- 25:01Speaker 7: I think it gives the opportunity for Duran to have
- 25:04Speaker 7: a more defined role as kind of the right handed
- 25:08Speaker 7: side of a platoon with Josh Smith, which still gets
- 25:12Speaker 7: Josh about one hundred and twenty starts and I think
- 25:14Speaker 7: at maximum that's probably his best and it gives Duran
- 25:17Speaker 7: the opportunity to occasionally play some shortstop for Seeger when
- 25:20Speaker 7: he goes to a DH role. So I think that's
- 25:24Speaker 7: how the Rangers are looking at things. They also feel
- 25:26Speaker 7: like Cody Freeman really energized that clubhouse at the end
- 25:30Speaker 7: of the last season, and so he could be in
- 25:32Speaker 7: the mix as probably a part time player, but I
- 25:36Speaker 7: think he figures in they're gonna bring Michael Hellman back,
- 25:39Speaker 7: who really had a nice breakout year for them, but yeah,
- 25:44Speaker 7: there's gonna be competition going in, but Josh Smith has
- 25:48Speaker 7: to be and deserves to be at the top of
- 25:50Speaker 7: that list. I don't see them feeling it from the externally.
- 25:53Speaker 7: I don't see them going out and signing a free
- 25:56Speaker 7: agent like Lewis Rise. And it gets back to Cratsy's point,
- 25:59Speaker 7: it's all about the money, money, all right.
- 26:01Speaker 5: Real quick.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Of those three guys you mentioned, Jonahi A Medulas, Garcia,
- 26:05Speaker 4: Marcus Simeon, who you beting on to have a bounce
- 26:08Speaker 4: back year.
- 26:10Speaker 7: I guess my bet would be a Dolies. I think
- 26:16Speaker 7: if he's in the right, I think this gives him
- 26:18Speaker 7: a fresh start. And I think there were times last
- 26:20Speaker 7: year and really in twenty four where he carried the
- 26:23Speaker 7: weight of being the World Series and the ALCS, you know,
- 26:29Speaker 7: MVP and Superstar of two series. Obviously, so you ended
- 26:34Speaker 7: up with the trophy at the World Series, but he
- 26:37Speaker 7: was great in both those series. I think he carried
- 26:39Speaker 7: the burden of that pretty heavily. I think that he's
- 26:43Speaker 7: still very athletic. He played a great right field this year.
- 26:47Speaker 7: He was a Gold glob finalist. I think that he's
- 26:51Speaker 7: got the best ability to bounce back. I look at Marcus,
- 26:54Speaker 7: and I see a thirty five year old who's going
- 26:56Speaker 7: to turn thirty six in September, and the his street
- 27:00Speaker 7: for second baseman. And I've had this conversation with Ian Kinsler,
- 27:04Speaker 7: I had it with Brett Boone, the history for second basement.
- 27:07Speaker 7: When they hit about that age thirty five season, it
- 27:10Speaker 7: really starts to become a struggle, and so the trend
- 27:13Speaker 7: is not going in Marcus's favor. And Jonah, I don't
- 27:17Speaker 7: know what to make of Jonah. You know, he was
- 27:19Speaker 7: an All Star in twenty three, but the last two
- 27:21Speaker 7: years he's just been He's not been a good player
- 27:24Speaker 7: and most disturbing over the last season. And I think
- 27:28Speaker 7: even you were aware of this in the time you
- 27:30Speaker 7: were here. It just looked like he wasn't enjoying playing
- 27:33Speaker 7: baseball very much. And so I don't he could have
- 27:37Speaker 7: a real fork in the road moment here, and he
- 27:39Speaker 7: could as a switch hitting catcher with some power who's
- 27:42Speaker 7: a great framer, he could really bounce back too, But
- 27:45Speaker 7: I have some doubts about how much he enjoys playing
- 27:49Speaker 7: a game at this point.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Evan, we always appreciate it really good insight. We went
- 27:54Speaker 3: right to the brim here with the time that we had.
- 27:56Speaker 3: That's the Rangers offseason to do list. We'll see what
- 27:59Speaker 3: they do. Have a great Thanksgiving.
- 28:01Speaker 7: My friend Kevin, when can I come out to the
- 28:04Speaker 7: lawns anytime?
- 28:06Speaker 5: You got my number?
- 28:07Speaker 7: Call me all right, ma'am.
