- 0:52Speaker 1: my um people I call when I need when I
- 0:56Speaker 1: make a tough decision. He's one of the five people
- 0:58Speaker 1: I call, Hey, man, what's you think? And he never
- 1:01Speaker 1: should the co said. He always kind of gives me
- 1:03Speaker 1: sound advice, always answers my calls. Always either if you
- 1:08Speaker 1: can't answer, he'll text me right back. I also wanted
- 1:10Speaker 1: to say that on camera. I appreciate you and definitely
- 1:13Speaker 1: want to salute you for everything. Now you're hosting the
- 1:16Speaker 1: show with us. Is that okay? Bill Board announced that
- 1:22Speaker 1: formal Apple executive Larry Jackson is embarking on a new
- 1:26Speaker 1: business venture, Gamma, that will allow major artists and brands
- 1:30Speaker 1: to work in kandem with music, films, merchandise, fashion, and
- 1:33Speaker 1: other areas. The first artists to join Gamma roster were
- 1:37Speaker 1: Usher and Rick Ross. So you guys excited to see
- 1:40Speaker 1: or hear this type of news. Always excited about news interest,
- 1:44Speaker 1: especially people that's in the culture. You know what I'm saying,
- 1:47Speaker 1: actually benefit off the coach. Yeah, I'm glad behind the
- 1:50Speaker 1: scenes people are getting their chance to Like Larry Jackson
- 1:52Speaker 1: been behind the scenes with Apple for so long. You've
- 1:54Speaker 1: seen them pop up on college Timeline a couple of times.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You've seen him around Jay, you seen him at some brunches. So, uh,
- 2:01Speaker 1: just to have these like minds get out here and
- 2:03Speaker 1: just get some real backing, Like for a long time,
- 2:05Speaker 1: we didn't have a chance to get any backing from people.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So to get these people, excuse me, get these people
- 2:10Speaker 1: out here and just being in front of the movement
- 2:13Speaker 1: and pushing the culture. Uh feels really good, you know
- 2:17Speaker 1: to me, because you know it's a lot of us.
- 2:19Speaker 1: We talk about it a lot um and I want
- 2:22Speaker 1: to get to a point where we're all in that position,
- 2:24Speaker 1: you know, to make other positions. I don't think a
- 2:27Speaker 1: lot of people know you had a lot of executive
- 2:29Speaker 1: roles in your career. I did. I did, and you
- 2:32Speaker 1: know it's it's it's different from me DJO. Yeah. I
- 2:36Speaker 1: mean I took some roles because you know, I did
- 2:39Speaker 1: a bid with DJ and and you know, certain things,
- 2:42Speaker 1: and I wanted to get in and really learn the
- 2:44Speaker 1: business and get out, you know what I mean. I
- 2:46Speaker 1: got in. You know, I took a position at def
- 2:48Speaker 1: JAM early in twenty twelve vp an R. And when
- 2:53Speaker 1: I took that position, you know, I tell the story
- 2:54Speaker 1: at the time, I lifted the hood up and I
- 2:56Speaker 1: was like, oh they got nitrogen, Okay, cool, you know
- 2:58Speaker 1: what I'm here And that's what you know, helped me
- 3:00Speaker 1: learn a lot of things I didn't know, Like I
- 3:03Speaker 1: had a publishing deal prior to that, but you produced,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I produced, And when I got to deaf Jam, I
- 3:10Speaker 1: was like, Hey, what don't I know you know, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: what are the books saying, how's a budget? Ran? You know,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I need to know those things in order to advance.
- 3:19Speaker 1: So that was you know, the exact roles, just having
- 3:21Speaker 1: that on, you know, on your shoulder. And a lot
- 3:23Speaker 1: of us don't want to do that because a lot
- 3:25Speaker 1: of us looked at as bad people when we step
- 3:27Speaker 1: in building and do things, you know, the respect level
- 3:29Speaker 1: goes down. But you know, fortunate, you know, I held
- 3:32Speaker 1: my head high. Was good. How did you get to
- 3:35Speaker 1: a JEF jam? They actually came and saw me? You
- 3:38Speaker 1: know what I mean? Yeah, it was DJ and producing.
- 3:41Speaker 1: But I tell you like a little inside story and
- 3:43Speaker 1: you know some of the guys a test too of
- 3:45Speaker 1: rich On M. Kuam was one of the first dudes
- 3:47Speaker 1: I wanted to sign at def jam um A Sap
- 3:50Speaker 1: Rocky and an ASAP mob like. I had this vision
- 3:53Speaker 1: on them being dip set Um, Slash Bone Dougs and
- 3:57Speaker 1: Harmony Um for New York and you know that was
- 4:00Speaker 1: one of those things that I really wanted to bring
- 4:02Speaker 1: to the building. Um. I actually missed out on those deals.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I was a little too late on one with a
- 4:08Speaker 1: SAP and then Richilmei Kwan was already with tig Um,
- 4:12Speaker 1: and then I wanted to do Iggy Azelia, which I
- 4:16Speaker 1: think was introduced to me through Rocket and she wounded
- 4:20Speaker 1: up beyond already talking to death jam there and wound
- 4:23Speaker 1: up biling a deal. So you know, as you know,
- 4:25Speaker 1: the Eyes and Ears people was like, yo, we respect
- 4:27Speaker 1: your Eyes and Ears. Come in and help us, you know,
- 4:30Speaker 1: move the ship. So how long did you stay there?
- 4:33Speaker 1: I did a three year um turn with them, and
- 4:37Speaker 1: the reason why I came out of it, it's because
- 4:39Speaker 1: I wanted to come back to Atlanta. I was in
- 4:40Speaker 1: LA at the time. I wanted to come back to
- 4:42Speaker 1: Atlanta and lived in Yeah. I love in La. Yeah,
- 4:46Speaker 1: j Elijah uh La was cool. Um, I like it
- 4:50Speaker 1: to visit more in my East Coast person. Um, my
- 4:53Speaker 1: family's here, you know. And I was also DJ, and
- 4:56Speaker 1: people don't know, like just get your insider than DJAN.
- 5:00Speaker 1: When you're getting flown to different cities the DJ, it's
- 5:02Speaker 1: really hard to get back to Charlotte or Texas or Miami,
- 5:06Speaker 1: you know, with the prices. So I felt like some
- 5:08Speaker 1: of my DJ gigs that I was doing monthly didn't
- 5:11Speaker 1: want to fly me from LA to get back to
- 5:13Speaker 1: these you know cities, and it just was, you know,
- 5:16Speaker 1: wearing tear on me, trying to pay for it out
- 5:18Speaker 1: of my pocket. You're trying to still make that you know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: club day in Atlantic City. So I just had to
- 5:23Speaker 1: make a you know, I had to make a transition
- 5:25Speaker 1: back to the A so I can just be in
- 5:26Speaker 1: a triangle Atlanta, La, New York and back so I
- 5:29Speaker 1: can just got Spirit now. I don't know how long
- 5:35Speaker 1: because trying to buy Spirit right now. And you know,
- 5:40Speaker 1: if Jet Blues buy Spirit, it won't be as cheap anymore.
- 5:43Speaker 1: So in the government need the least spirit alone, man. Heard.
- 5:46Speaker 1: If that happens, they're going to upgrade the plane. Yeah,
- 5:49Speaker 1: so it will be classes in the man. They need
- 5:52Speaker 1: the least spirit alone, man. Well, the government is trying
- 5:55Speaker 1: to stop it right now. They need the least spirit alone, man,
- 5:58Speaker 1: because Jet Blue is on a great job being Jet Blue.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Spirit is Spirit is crazy, bro. I've been on Spirit
- 6:04Speaker 1: planes where they flew in a whole different airport. For real,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I'm supposed to go to Texas. I was in Orlando.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I'm like, why I'm the Lando bro, what's going on? Well,
- 6:12Speaker 1: we had to fly the plane. We had a little issues,
- 6:14Speaker 1: so we had to. We're laying here. I'm like, man,
- 6:17Speaker 1: but you know those days I was trying to be cheap.
- 6:19Speaker 1: We're trying to get to the hustling. Hustling. All right,
- 6:23Speaker 1: now you're you're a big sports guy, right, yes, sir,
- 6:25Speaker 1: all right, let's let's get into players ball. It is
- 6:27Speaker 1: now time for players ball. I'm a fowl up. It
- 6:32Speaker 1: seems scary to man. John Morant will not face charges
- 6:37Speaker 1: for appearing to flash his gun on it's a fake gud.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I told you it was a fake an that wasn't fake. Okay,
- 6:46Speaker 1: I'm man that no charges. I hope that he learned
- 6:49Speaker 1: his lesson and I hope he just continues to, you know,
- 6:52Speaker 1: grow from these types of Hope he gets new friends,
- 6:55Speaker 1: you know, I hope much friends also learned that you
- 6:57Speaker 1: have to protect the ask No. I hope he gets
- 6:59Speaker 1: new because that was a close call, very close and
- 7:02Speaker 1: they could have got it, could have went all the
- 7:03Speaker 1: way left. Yeah, we need we need to have more
- 7:07Speaker 1: mentorship on how these young guys are getting one hundred million,
- 7:11Speaker 1: fifty million, two hundred max deals and you're twenty two
- 7:14Speaker 1: years old, bro, what do you expect out of us
- 7:17Speaker 1: at this young you're giving me a hundred million dollars.
- 7:20Speaker 1: A lot of these players who come from unfortunate circumstances,
- 7:24Speaker 1: they come from the hoods, so like they're not they
- 7:26Speaker 1: don't have like you know, like you said, a buffer
- 7:29Speaker 1: or a therapists or anybody to tell them how to
- 7:32Speaker 1: do certain things. Bro, everything changes if you're twenty two,
- 7:36Speaker 1: everything in your neighborhood changes. Every phone call you get,
- 7:39Speaker 1: every text message you get is going to change. I
- 7:42Speaker 1: don't know if most people have seen that in success world, Bro,
- 7:45Speaker 1: they's going to change. And those calls, Hey, my cousin
- 7:50Speaker 1: is sick, they're about to die. We need five thousand dollars. Hey,
- 7:54Speaker 1: Homie is picking on your sister. Yeah, it's so much stuff.
- 7:59Speaker 1: You're lawyer, feeds and taxes, taxes, taxes, so it's so
- 8:05Speaker 1: much going on. So I wanted to see more mentorship
- 8:07Speaker 1: because I can't blame Homie, Like I see a lot
- 8:09Speaker 1: of people on there just saying, man, he's a fool,
- 8:11Speaker 1: and you making money. You ain't the streeting on a suburb.
- 8:13Speaker 1: He's a kid, Yeah, your suburb hood. He's a kid. Bro. Like,
- 8:17Speaker 1: these guys need to get, you know, some help with
- 8:19Speaker 1: this stuff. And you know, I'm glad that he got
- 8:21Speaker 1: off because this is, you know, hopefully the last time
- 8:24Speaker 1: he has to get involved in something that's you know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: this deep. And keep in mind they took away to
- 8:28Speaker 1: Kyrie Shoe and they gave him a shoot. NICKI. Yeah,
- 8:31Speaker 1: and only thing Kyrie did was posted a book. You
- 8:36Speaker 1: know what I'm saying? Okay, all right? Create three star
- 8:41Speaker 1: Jonathan Majors to play Dennis Rodman in the film fortyen
- 8:45Speaker 1: Hours in Vegas. Many I burned Jonathan Mayors out. Do
- 8:48Speaker 1: you remember the Hours in Vegas? Remember this? Yeah? When
- 8:52Speaker 1: I've heard the story when they when you had to
- 8:54Speaker 1: go get him. He was with Karma Letcher and you know,
- 8:57Speaker 1: Jordan was like, hey, man, Dennis Rodman was off the
- 8:59Speaker 1: chain back then. Yeah, he can a big story. Go
- 9:02Speaker 1: to the wrestling match. Yeah, the wrestling match, got married.
- 9:07Speaker 1: This is gonna be a wild uh. The documentary, that's
- 9:11Speaker 1: gonna be crazy. And dudes playing he looked just like him.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Definitely favor she was liking. Yeah, you know, he a
- 9:17Speaker 1: great actor, so he's probably gonna get all into character
- 9:19Speaker 1: with the hair. When you said that, I immediately went
- 9:22Speaker 1: to the picture on Ebony with the roses and with
- 9:25Speaker 1: the COVID. Yeah, get them ear rings and them sunglasses over.
- 9:33Speaker 1: He's gonna lose. I feel like he probably needs to
- 9:35Speaker 1: lose aesome weight too, because he kind of buff. Yeah
- 9:38Speaker 1: he can't, Yeah he can, he can lose a couple.
- 9:40Speaker 1: But he looked just like it. Yeah. Now you're a
- 9:42Speaker 1: big Lakers fan fan or both. I'm a Lakers fan.
- 9:47Speaker 1: So I started liking Kers. Okay, So I give you
- 9:50Speaker 1: a short story. When I was growing up, like the
- 9:52Speaker 1: seventy six is, Charles Barkley was my favorite player. Everybody
- 9:55Speaker 1: everybody like Jordanlly, I liked Charles Barkley. When he got
- 9:58Speaker 1: traded mean Prime out of there, I said, yo, I
- 10:03Speaker 1: would never watch the Sixers again. And all they recruited
- 10:06Speaker 1: with Sean Bradley, and I was like, bro, we had
- 10:09Speaker 1: Charles Barkley, Like what's going on? Yeah, So I just
- 10:12Speaker 1: stopped watching the Sixers for a little bit. Uh. In
- 10:15Speaker 1: high school, we played against Kobe Bryant a lot, you
- 10:18Speaker 1: know what I mean. I knew his father, he coached
- 10:19Speaker 1: this and some playground. Yeah, so so cope was you know,
- 10:23Speaker 1: he'd become all these games his sister played. Um, so
- 10:27Speaker 1: they were like what I wanted to be when I
- 10:30Speaker 1: used to watch him train at seat watch Kobe in
- 10:33Speaker 1: high school. Yes, wow, that's crazy. So I always say
- 10:37Speaker 1: this thing about I played with him, so I didn't
- 10:39Speaker 1: play on his team so many I used to play
- 10:41Speaker 1: against Kobe. Yeah, and people don't believe me, but anybody
- 10:44Speaker 1: will tested it. Like his one league called the Sunny
- 10:46Speaker 1: Hill League, and we would go down there and that's
- 10:48Speaker 1: where he would be at. So our team would play
- 10:50Speaker 1: sometimes they'll pick mismatch, but he would be at the
- 10:52Speaker 1: school called Saint Joe's University was a college, and he
- 10:55Speaker 1: will shoot a thousand jump shots. So when we left
- 10:57Speaker 1: the AU tournaments and stuff like that, I would like
- 11:00Speaker 1: on the gym and people be in the stand just
- 11:01Speaker 1: watching them, like practice by myself shoot thousand. He went
- 11:05Speaker 1: straight out of high school. Yeah, he was crazy. So
- 11:07Speaker 1: when he got drafted, I was like, damn, I'm gonna
- 11:11Speaker 1: be a hornete you know, or Lando Magic fan. Then
- 11:14Speaker 1: they wound up being the Lakers. I was like, I'll
- 11:16Speaker 1: rock with the Lakers. And since ninety six I was
- 11:18Speaker 1: rocking with the Lakers. Okay, playing at that time, did
- 11:20Speaker 1: you ever have your own hoop dreams? I did. I
- 11:22Speaker 1: wasn't good. I was flat foot it sometimes you know what,
- 11:26Speaker 1: I never said this to you on you know a
- 11:30Speaker 1: lot of people in high industry are kind of short.
- 11:33Speaker 1: You might be the TA tallest, DJ tallest, like you
- 11:38Speaker 1: had to bend down to walk in the door. Yeah,
- 11:43Speaker 1: test done Canada six seven And I can hoop a
- 11:47Speaker 1: little bit. That's what I'm saying. I'm good like when
- 11:49Speaker 1: you go out here. But I'm only saying that towards
- 11:52Speaker 1: like if I'm out there Trey Young here, I can't hoop.
- 11:55Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. If you know college players,
- 11:57Speaker 1: I can't hoop. If we industry, I can hoop. I'm
- 12:00Speaker 1: gonna get y'all thirty. So you like, you're like you
- 12:04Speaker 1: like the LA fitness balling, Yeah, but Lifetime probably like
- 12:12Speaker 1: matches fitness. But they're trying to go to the league.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I'm like, brother, you forty, you're gonna league? Now. I
- 12:18Speaker 1: value every time all that scratching and on that. I'm cool.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Are the Lakers making the playoffs? Number one and two?
- 12:24Speaker 1: Two questions? Are the Lakers making the playoffs? And I
- 12:26Speaker 1: know you're gonna say some B team and are they
- 12:28Speaker 1: gonna If they do, are they gonna make it out
- 12:30Speaker 1: the first round. They will not make the playoffs, still
- 12:32Speaker 1: make the play in right, So the playing is goofy
- 12:36Speaker 1: because I still don't know. If you lose, you might
- 12:38Speaker 1: be out. You lose twet the bronze, you know what
- 12:41Speaker 1: I'm saying. So I don't think they'll make it to
- 12:44Speaker 1: the playoffs. We have too many we have the jail
- 12:46Speaker 1: first with the new team, and we have too many injuries.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I think the whole game for the Lakers is riding
- 12:52Speaker 1: on eighty you know what I mean. Like the new editions,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I do. I love the new editions. I like d Low.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I think it's a small player, all the young guys.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I like Reeves, He's crazy. Lebron is the greatest basketball
- 13:06Speaker 1: player to ever live in my opinion. Um, but I
- 13:10Speaker 1: think the Lakers have a little bit more time on
- 13:12Speaker 1: their hands before we get back in death. You know.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I don't want them to discredit our our a ring
- 13:17Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one, Like, come on, Dawk, I don't discredited.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I don't think anybody discredited. But you know what I
- 13:23Speaker 1: think that h No, I love, I love the Lakers,
- 13:28Speaker 1: but I keep I keep it, I keep it real.
- 13:30Speaker 1: They should have never let Lebron try to be the gym.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Let him be the great basketball. You don't make no decisions?
- 13:35Speaker 1: Yes he does. How did they get Russell? How did
- 13:39Speaker 1: you get Mellow? He just that's Lebron said. These are
- 13:42Speaker 1: my friends and we're old and we all came up together.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Everybody not like you, Bro, I don't think so. I
- 13:48Speaker 1: think he's like, hey man, that would be a good look.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I can play with anybody. That's how he's saying. He did.
- 13:52Speaker 1: GM would be like, we're getting this, we're doing that.
- 13:55Speaker 1: So you mean to tell me. You don't think Lebron
- 13:57Speaker 1: is over there telling them go get him, go get Nah. No, no,
- 14:01Speaker 1: you think they getting traded because when they get traded,
- 14:04Speaker 1: like he wouldn't get somebody to get traded, like he
- 14:06Speaker 1: won them before they made a bad decision, and then
- 14:10Speaker 1: I think they was like, hey now we got to
- 14:12Speaker 1: be business people and we gotta get rid of them. Bro,
- 14:15Speaker 1: he's smart as hell. They don't really make them bad decisions. Okay,
- 14:18Speaker 1: you make no bad decisions. I just wish they started
- 14:21Speaker 1: off with this team that they have right now. I
- 14:23Speaker 1: wish they did too. Listen, all the players we should
- 14:25Speaker 1: have had, all of them, we should have been had. Uh,
- 14:29Speaker 1: what's my man over? Why should have d low? Y'all
- 14:32Speaker 1: should have had? Uh? Oh momok, like all those players
- 14:35Speaker 1: should have all those young core players should have already
- 14:38Speaker 1: in position. They said, I did you hear about Sean
- 14:44Speaker 1: Kemp being arrested after allegedly dri drive by shooting. Um
- 14:49Speaker 1: he was arrested. He three years old, by the way, UM,
- 14:52Speaker 1: two of them old dispute with another driver outside of
- 14:55Speaker 1: uh Tacoma, Washington shopping mall on Wednesday, cops saying altercation
- 15:00Speaker 1: broke out between the two cars around two pm. According
- 15:03Speaker 1: to the police dispatch, Witnesses claim Camp fired five to
- 15:06Speaker 1: ten shot at the other vehicle during the incident. Sources
- 15:10Speaker 1: tell Fox thirteen that Kemp was acting out of self defense.
- 15:14Speaker 1: He was attempting to retrieve a stolen item and when
- 15:18Speaker 1: someone opened fired him him. First, yeah, have y'all seen
- 15:23Speaker 1: a video? First of all, Now I've seen a video
- 15:26Speaker 1: this morning, and first of all, didn't look like a
- 15:29Speaker 1: drive I look like he just started shooting at somebody. Yeah,
- 15:32Speaker 1: And it's like, bro, you can't take that video. If
- 15:35Speaker 1: that video is on the video, yes, if that video
- 15:38Speaker 1: is real, then you can't take that. The court and said,
- 15:42Speaker 1: you know, it's self defense. It's self defenses, you flee
- 15:44Speaker 1: in scene and having to defend yourself. But he didn't
- 15:48Speaker 1: look like he was scared at all. Yeah, I didn't
- 15:50Speaker 1: have enough information. I thought it was one of the
- 15:52Speaker 1: moves where you know, you have a registered gun and
- 15:55Speaker 1: some of your potness take your gun and do Oh
- 15:58Speaker 1: you thought it was somebody else. I didn't see the
- 16:00Speaker 1: I'm thinking he would never do that. Man. I'm thinking like, oh, somebody.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Anytime I hear Sean Camp, I think about how fire held.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I just think about how fire he used to be
- 16:12Speaker 1: before he got hurt. Seattle's sumer Soignics. He used to

- 16:16Speaker 1: much energy and he got hurt and it was rapp
- 16:18Speaker 1: and he was on he was on that you know,
- 16:21Speaker 1: Oh he was on that Sugar Booker booking Sugar I
- 16:24Speaker 1: smoking a lot of weed. Yeah that's what that's allegedly.

- 16:57Speaker 1: in this joint Stay tuned, Baby ball Look, welcome to
- 17:00Speaker 1: the Ball of Show podcast. We have bad Don Cannons
- 17:03Speaker 1: in the building. We appreciate you hosting with us. Sir.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Now you've been promoting this app called the Tomorrow App, Yes, sir,
- 17:11Speaker 1: and of course CEO Generation Now, yes, sir. I would
- 17:15Speaker 1: love to talk about both at the same time, but
- 17:17Speaker 1: that's not possible. So let's talk about the Tomorrow app. Tomorrow.
- 17:21Speaker 1: What is the Tomorrow app? And why is it spelled
- 17:23Speaker 1: that way. It's the greatest thing for creatives to hit
- 17:27Speaker 1: the market in a long time. Man. This is a
- 17:29Speaker 1: market place app for creatives to make money and clients
- 17:34Speaker 1: to find creatives. And the only reason I dove into
- 17:36Speaker 1: this is because when I go to speak in front
- 17:38Speaker 1: of people, a lot of people their first questions to
- 17:41Speaker 1: raise their hand and say, hey, how do I get on?
- 17:43Speaker 1: I had no answer. All I can say is YO,
- 17:46Speaker 1: just keep working hard, guy, gonna lead you away. I
- 17:50Speaker 1: wanted to be able to give them something that they
- 17:54Speaker 1: can live by, and this is one of the things
- 17:56Speaker 1: that I created to live by you know what I mean.
- 18:00Speaker 1: My partner, Kayla, she also had a similar She was
- 18:03Speaker 1: working in the field and when our friends was a
- 18:06Speaker 1: designer and she was working on sets and things, but
- 18:09Speaker 1: the jobs were, you know, in between. She had to
- 18:13Speaker 1: do with some door dashing just to keep the bills paid.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And we were just like, how do we keep people
- 18:18Speaker 1: in their field? How do we keep people working? There's
- 18:20Speaker 1: no marketplace for them to be where they can consistently work.
- 18:24Speaker 1: And the reason why we named it tomorrow because it's like,
- 18:27Speaker 1: not only work get paid as early as tomorrow. When
- 18:30Speaker 1: you get in these places, you don't get paid that fast.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Sometimes you get a net thirty, sometimes you get in
- 18:35Speaker 1: that sixty net ninety. You're on DM with people, you
- 18:38Speaker 1: give them the good work, they go shoot, they don't
- 18:40Speaker 1: pay you. We wanted to start a portal to where
- 18:44Speaker 1: you're in this marketplace and you do the work for somebody,
- 18:47Speaker 1: The money goes into escrow and it sits there until
- 18:49Speaker 1: the job is done. Once they hit bun the money
- 18:52Speaker 1: is in your account. And that's where fiber fever whatever
- 18:57Speaker 1: sort of you know, fiber is a little bit more broad.
- 19:00Speaker 1: We're more focused on entertainment in the music business. When
- 19:03Speaker 1: we first started, I had something really broad and we
- 19:06Speaker 1: were going after people that wanted to do photography of
- 19:08Speaker 1: weddings and stuff like that. But um, I got to
- 19:11Speaker 1: a point where I was like, people were coming up
- 19:13Speaker 1: to me like, how can I get the music business?
- 19:15Speaker 1: I can music business. So that was another pain point
- 19:17Speaker 1: of me saying, hey, let me offer this. This is
- 19:20Speaker 1: still a dream job for any buying the world. We've
- 19:23Speaker 1: made this culture for everybody to be a part of,
- 19:25Speaker 1: from any you know, entertainment, lawyers, chefs now uh, producers, rappers, stylists,
- 19:33Speaker 1: makeup artists, haircut people. Um barbaris. I'm sorry, um, but
- 19:39Speaker 1: everybody liked case. So I made that and you know
- 19:45Speaker 1: tomorrow it's like the big statement. It's like everything happens tomorrow,
- 19:48Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Obviously, if I said today,
- 19:51Speaker 1: I would be lying that you could get paid today.
- 19:53Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, you get paid tomorrow. So
- 19:56Speaker 1: that's that's what I felt like. The name felt, you know,
- 19:59Speaker 1: good and just. I never told the story. When we
- 20:01Speaker 1: first started, the app was called Connect and we were
- 20:04Speaker 1: trying to get to a space where we connect to people.
- 20:07Speaker 1: You know what I mean. But then I was like, man,
- 20:09Speaker 1: it's gotta be something about people getting paid. Like people
- 20:12Speaker 1: don't get paid, you know, creatives, creatives do not get paid.
- 20:17Speaker 1: And then clients that want to pay, like your client,
- 20:20Speaker 1: you need to find somebody who does videography. You can
- 20:23Speaker 1: go in there and find somebody. Creatives can use the
- 20:25Speaker 1: app as a portfolio, like you can use the scan
- 20:28Speaker 1: and just be like, Yo, this is my work. Check
- 20:29Speaker 1: me out. You got your Spotify lengths. If you're a rapper,
- 20:32Speaker 1: you got your portfolio pictures, if you're you know, taking pictures.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Everything's in there. Like it's just one of those things
- 20:38Speaker 1: that's just a vehicle for the future for creatives. And
- 20:42Speaker 1: that's what I wanted to do. I wanted to bring
- 20:43Speaker 1: that and just have that piece. I want to give
- 20:46Speaker 1: back to the community. I always talk about how much
- 20:49Speaker 1: I've done in my career, but how much of that
- 20:52Speaker 1: has paid forward to creatives and you know, clients. Just
- 20:56Speaker 1: trying to help people connect. So that's my way of
- 20:58Speaker 1: doing it. All right, Uh that's dope, And uh why
- 21:03Speaker 1: did you spell it like that? Is there any particular
- 21:05Speaker 1: way because it's no particular way. I just felt like, um,
- 21:09Speaker 1: uber is for letters, tomorrow. How can I make it
- 21:12Speaker 1: as simple as that is something that people could be like, Yo,
- 21:16Speaker 1: that's simple and it looks good. It's not all drawn out.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So I just wanted to be able to like have
- 21:22Speaker 1: it like you know, quit not crazy, you know what
- 21:24Speaker 1: I mean? And is it available already? Yeah, it's been
- 21:27Speaker 1: out two years. Um, you can get on there now.
- 21:29Speaker 1: It's in the Apple Store. We're working on an Android
- 21:32Speaker 1: version for this year for the people. I've found out
- 21:35Speaker 1: through research that a lot of people use androids a
- 21:38Speaker 1: lot more than people on iPhone. People were still on
- 21:41Speaker 1: blackberries too before that game that got canceled. Yeah, all right,
- 21:48Speaker 1: so that's what that's what I'm wanting. I'm just you know,
- 21:50Speaker 1: I'm surveying the scene and just getting into everybody needed. Well.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I'm glad you're here, man, because I always wanted to
- 21:55Speaker 1: ask you these questions. And I talked to Drama too,
- 21:57Speaker 1: that's my guy. But I wanted to talk to you
- 22:00Speaker 1: about Generation now. Um Philly. Now, so you and Drama
- 22:05Speaker 1: from Philly, we're both from Phillies. Where's Lake show Flakes
- 22:08Speaker 1: from Los Angeles? Lake is from That's how he got
- 22:10Speaker 1: the lake? Cheasy? Okay, So how did you guys. I
- 22:13Speaker 1: know that you guys were together. First of all, I
- 22:15Speaker 1: always wanted to fill this chance. I want to chance,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I love I love the Phillis. How did you guys
- 22:22Speaker 1: come together to form Generation Now? Generation Now first started
- 22:26Speaker 1: as a mixtape in early two thousand and two three
- 22:29Speaker 1: and uh it was part like Gangster Grills was moving
- 22:32Speaker 1: so fast, but I think Drama didn't feel like everything
- 22:36Speaker 1: fit under Against Girls brand, So we wanted to make
- 22:39Speaker 1: a brand that like it just was a part of
- 22:43Speaker 1: like the new upcoming people coming. People like Jay Mills,
- 22:47Speaker 1: Corey Gunns, Kanye West, Joe Buttons. Those were all the
- 22:49Speaker 1: guys we were breaking at the time. But everybody couldn't
- 22:52Speaker 1: get against the girls. So we formulated the brand Generation
- 22:56Speaker 1: Now and even some of the Gangster girls, like I
- 22:58Speaker 1: think Killer Mike's Gangster Girls just like Gangster Girls, Killer
- 23:01Speaker 1: Mike been in the corners like Generation Now. Addition, it
- 23:04Speaker 1: was like breaking a new artist, so I think we
- 23:07Speaker 1: just we always dibble and dabble with the name. We
- 23:10Speaker 1: did some a couple more tapes, but Gangster Girls had
- 23:13Speaker 1: took so far off that we was like, okay, let's
- 23:17Speaker 1: just rock with you know, Gangster Girls and pushed behind it.
- 23:20Speaker 1: We all had our separate brands. Trendsetter Sense was with us.
- 23:23Speaker 1: He had an R and B BRANDUM And as we
- 23:26Speaker 1: moved on, we just kind of like branched into you know,
- 23:30Speaker 1: I branched into learning in the business. Drown was being
- 23:33Speaker 1: a face. Lake was always around. He was bringing us
- 23:36Speaker 1: uh brown bags every now and then for you know,
- 23:39Speaker 1: he's right, that's money. So he was moving around. Uh.
- 23:46Speaker 1: He was managing Mace and Freeway and just doing a
- 23:49Speaker 1: lot of stuff with corrupt and everybody. And he would
- 23:51Speaker 1: just always just be a part of this situation, you
- 23:54Speaker 1: know what I mean. M After I went to def
- 23:56Speaker 1: JAM and learned all the stuff that's going on with it,
- 24:00Speaker 1: I came back home and I was like, man, how
- 24:03Speaker 1: can we set up another label? Um? So I was
- 24:06Speaker 1: in Philly, and this is one of the reasons why
- 24:08Speaker 1: to come back to Atlanta. I was able to still
- 24:11Speaker 1: keep my jobs in Atlantic City Charlotte, DJ. And you
- 24:14Speaker 1: know what I mean. I went to Atlantic City one
- 24:16Speaker 1: day and on the drive from Philly it was about
- 24:19Speaker 1: fifty miles. I had the radio. I just checking on
- 24:21Speaker 1: what's going on in Philly, just like to hear real rap.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I heard this kid on radio going crazy. It would
- 24:27Speaker 1: happen to be Uz and uh, well, he was freestyling. Nah.
- 24:31Speaker 1: He had a song. It was called the Real Ouzy,
- 24:33Speaker 1: but it felt like a freestyle and it was just
- 24:36Speaker 1: running it back, running it back, and I'm like, yo,
- 24:38Speaker 1: what the hell is this? You know what I mean?
- 24:40Speaker 1: I wind up calling the radio Diamond Cuts, which was
- 24:44Speaker 1: in the Academy Diamond Cuts, Yeah, with US DJ crew,
- 24:48Speaker 1: and she was like, yeah, it's this kid Ouzy. I'm
- 24:50Speaker 1: working he dope. I was like, yeah, I want to
- 24:52Speaker 1: meet him when I come back from Atlantic City to
- 24:54Speaker 1: go to Philly and I came back, I met him.
- 24:58Speaker 1: You know, kid was phenomenal. Was like, bro, I really
- 25:00Speaker 1: do this, but I really, I'm a rock star from Yep.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I'm really a rock star. Bro, Like, I really know
- 25:08Speaker 1: what I'm doing. I'm gonna show you. And he was like,
- 25:11Speaker 1: you know, just trying to use a vehicle to get there.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I think at the time he started growing so fast,
- 25:15Speaker 1: locals getting I think um Kanye had reached out to
- 25:18Speaker 1: him on favor you already already had him, not quite
- 25:21Speaker 1: I was working on manager or Diamond Cuts manager, but
- 25:26Speaker 1: he wasn't signed. He wasn't signed to a production company
- 25:29Speaker 1: or anything like that. I'm signed so Diamond Cuts and
- 25:32Speaker 1: her husband they were managing them and just moving them around.
- 25:37Speaker 1: But I think Charlie Heat, I never mentioned his kid's name.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Charlie Heat was a producer. He did some stuff with Kanye.
- 25:42Speaker 1: He was working with Good Music. He was doing a
- 25:45Speaker 1: lot of Ouzi's early beats, you know, with Molly row
- 25:47Speaker 1: on him. And I think that he was making a
- 25:49Speaker 1: connection with Kanye. And I think that I went to
- 25:52Speaker 1: see Oozy a couple of times, and uh Philly, and
- 25:55Speaker 1: then I was like, yo, you need to come to Atlanta, bro, Like,
- 25:58Speaker 1: just come to Atlanta and see what we got going on,
- 26:01Speaker 1: saying he was like he's just playing oh cool, yeah
- 26:04Speaker 1: whatever he was. He was in this Philly mode. And
- 26:08Speaker 1: then when I got in to Atlanta, he was like, yo,
- 26:11Speaker 1: um what we're doing? Bro? Like I already know what
- 26:14Speaker 1: you do? Like, like what do we do? He like
- 26:16Speaker 1: pressed yeah, but yeah, he like what's going on? Like
- 26:19Speaker 1: come on? He was like, yeah, I'm gonna go to Philly.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna grab some clothes, I'm coming back down here.
- 26:23Speaker 1: But I had no way of getting in touch with him,
- 26:25Speaker 1: so I remember just going to store and just buying
- 26:28Speaker 1: my phone, like Hunt, take that back home with you.
- 26:30Speaker 1: We're staying in touch, and the rest is history. He
- 26:33Speaker 1: came down. I went to the guys and I told
- 26:35Speaker 1: Lake and John. First I told John, I said, Yo, bro, listen,
- 26:38Speaker 1: we need to do this shit over again. You know
- 26:40Speaker 1: what I mean. I don't know if John was interested.
- 26:42Speaker 1: I already say that I didn't feel like he wanted
- 26:44Speaker 1: to get back into a label space because so much
- 26:47Speaker 1: you know, heartbroken stuff that that we've been through with it.
- 26:51Speaker 1: But when I played him, he was like, man, let's
- 26:54Speaker 1: do it, and you know, the rest is history. Lake
- 26:57Speaker 1: was always around. He put in you know, blood, sweat
- 26:59Speaker 1: and tears. He was first one like, listen, bro, I'm
- 27:01Speaker 1: trying to change my life. I got this amount of
- 27:04Speaker 1: money I'm ready to put in and just rock out.
- 27:06Speaker 1: He was the one who did it. Was it really
- 27:08Speaker 1: a gut punch when um it was? He left the generation. Now,
- 27:12Speaker 1: he didn't let relieve, you know, left he kind of
- 27:15Speaker 1: with you all now. Yeah, so I don't explain what
- 27:17Speaker 1: he did. He went, he went and got management with
- 27:21Speaker 1: rock Nation, but it was always put out there that
- 27:23Speaker 1: he left. He signed. Yeah, he was still signed to us,
- 27:26Speaker 1: he just had different management. So as of to this day,
- 27:29Speaker 1: he still signed with Generation. You know, you know he
- 27:32Speaker 1: can't Yeah, you can't just leave. Yeah. Yeah. So when
- 27:36Speaker 1: they were when they went into it, it was just,
- 27:38Speaker 1: you know, a lot of the Internet was thriving. That's
- 27:40Speaker 1: why you never seen us talk about it, because I
- 27:43Speaker 1: like how y'all handled that situation. Y y'all had a
- 27:46Speaker 1: professional Yeah. I mean, it's all about the asset, and
- 27:49Speaker 1: we know we built and we're not gonna we're not
- 27:51Speaker 1: gonna ruin it over anything that's going on. Like I
- 27:55Speaker 1: never bought into nobody's Internet. I never had to face
- 27:59Speaker 1: nobody and say nothing. Even if I just wanted to
- 28:02Speaker 1: take out of the space that if I wanted to
- 28:03Speaker 1: say something out there about how I felt, it wasn't
- 28:06Speaker 1: gonna be like, oh he talking about Uzy, Oh he's
- 28:08Speaker 1: talking about this person. I don't want to be in
- 28:10Speaker 1: that space because I'm not that guy. Y'all didn't say anything. Yeah,
- 28:13Speaker 1: Sometimes not saying yeah, it's nothing to say, especially when
- 28:17Speaker 1: it's like we're living for the artist. The first thing
- 28:20Speaker 1: is the artist, that's the asset. We are the verising
- 28:23Speaker 1: network behind pushing the artist. Why get in front of
- 28:26Speaker 1: the train and stop it from moving when it's being
- 28:28Speaker 1: the best asset it can be. Let's just figure out
- 28:31Speaker 1: what it's going to be. And you know that it
- 28:34Speaker 1: was from what was going on the internet. Some stuff
- 28:36Speaker 1: was painful, and you know there's conversations that you hear
- 28:39Speaker 1: and then you'd be you know, you move, but until
- 28:41Speaker 1: nobody we were all in the room and then nobody
- 28:44Speaker 1: said nothing. Crazy. So it's like, want to just put
- 28:47Speaker 1: on a boxing just like? Man, I would love I
- 28:49Speaker 1: would love to. But again you know what I'm saying.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Do you know who we're gonna fight it with? This family?
- 28:56Speaker 1: That's what family is, bro. I love to box everything
- 28:58Speaker 1: that's I think that that is the key to autist.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Put the blocks and gloves on this. Yeah, just like
- 29:03Speaker 1: I'm ready for that. Yeah. Anything. So it's his contract
- 29:06Speaker 1: based off of albums or is it years? Say yes, albums?
- 29:10Speaker 1: No years? Yeah? Years is unfair. I mean if you
- 29:13Speaker 1: got any deal that's based on years because somebody though, no,
- 29:20Speaker 1: it's not unheard of. But I mean, as an upstanding businessman,
- 29:24Speaker 1: I don't do unfair business. Two things. I ride on
- 29:27Speaker 1: doing fair business that anybody doesn't want to work with me,
- 29:29Speaker 1: you can walk. I don't want to be in business
- 29:32Speaker 1: with anybody. Don't want to be in business with me
- 29:33Speaker 1: because it's never gonna work. I want to I want
- 29:36Speaker 1: to be able to give you everything you need to
- 29:39Speaker 1: live your vision. And that's across the board. That's me
- 29:42Speaker 1: doing stocks, that's me doing anything. I don't want to
- 29:45Speaker 1: be in business with anybody. Didn't want to be in
- 29:47Speaker 1: business with me or my partners. We don't want to
- 29:51Speaker 1: be in that space. We'll be right back stayed with
- 29:53Speaker 1: more of the Baller Alert Show. You're listening to a
- 30:03Speaker 1: special edition of The Paul Or Alert Show. Check it out, man,
- 30:06Speaker 1: the number one co sign of Don Cannon. You know
- 30:08Speaker 1: I'm rocking with the family. Faul Alert Show were in
- 30:11Speaker 1: this joint. Stay tuned, baby. Did you guys think Jack
- 30:14Speaker 1: Carlo would be as big as he is down? Oh yeah,
- 30:17Speaker 1: I did um when I met him. So the funny
- 30:21Speaker 1: thing is I heard him around the same time because
- 30:23Speaker 1: soon you graduated high school, came up to the station.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I actually got suspended for two days having him come
- 30:28Speaker 1: freestyle on my show. You just graduated, he came up there,
- 30:31Speaker 1: and then I remember maybe twenty four hours later he
- 30:33Speaker 1: was here and R's bragging about him too, because I
- 30:36Speaker 1: remember when Jack Carlo was like, man, this jew can
- 30:40Speaker 1: really rap, and I'm looking at him like I literally
- 30:43Speaker 1: posted him a couple of days ago. Because he would
- 30:45Speaker 1: come to compound with Wyatt and getting wasted. I would
- 30:50Speaker 1: have to go get him for my side and he
- 30:52Speaker 1: would come in and he would like, for all, I'm
- 30:54Speaker 1: just hanging out with you. That was my guy. Yeah,
- 30:57Speaker 1: he's still my guy now. But the funny thing is,
- 31:00Speaker 1: and again you got an exclusive. I heard three songs
- 31:04Speaker 1: before he even came to meet us, and the three songs,
- 31:08Speaker 1: one of them was with our artists game, and like
- 31:10Speaker 1: a couple of others at when I heard the songs,
- 31:13Speaker 1: I didn't see urgent potential, you know what I mean.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I did see urgent potential when he came to the office.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Is when I seen urgent potential. He came in, he
- 31:26Speaker 1: had his producer too for wine with him. They sat
- 31:29Speaker 1: down and it's the same thing over again. So I
- 31:33Speaker 1: have this thing where I see things and I know
- 31:35Speaker 1: what it's going to be because we saw it before.
- 31:37Speaker 1: He did the same thing. He's not oozy, but he
- 31:40Speaker 1: had the same conviction when he came to the office
- 31:43Speaker 1: to talk about how he was going to do this,
- 31:46Speaker 1: what he was built for, and what each and every
- 31:49Speaker 1: step he wanted to do. He was very intelligent and
- 31:54Speaker 1: he had his own producer, which was like his metro
- 31:57Speaker 1: to the future. And I was like, man, this kid
- 32:00Speaker 1: got everything we need to do. We don't have to
- 32:02Speaker 1: do nothing, like we don't have to hold his hand,
- 32:04Speaker 1: artist pay attention. All we have to do is groom
- 32:07Speaker 1: it and get it to where it's supposed to be.
- 32:09Speaker 1: And that when he came to see us, that was
- 32:11Speaker 1: the moment I felt like, Oh, this kid is urgent.
- 32:14Speaker 1: And another thing with generation now. We never want to
- 32:16Speaker 1: sign two oozies. We never want to sign two Jacks
- 32:19Speaker 1: like people bring us. I got another Jack for y'all.
- 32:21Speaker 1: We don't want that. These superstars are superstars on their own.
- 32:25Speaker 1: There's only one Jack Harlowe, There's only one Oozy verb
- 32:28Speaker 1: And to anybody that we extended help with Playboy Cardi,
- 32:31Speaker 1: there's only one Playboy Cardi. You know what I mean us. Yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 1: one time I said, it's only one of these guys
- 32:38Speaker 1: that we're gonna leave. I'm not gonna sign to Columinatis,
- 32:41Speaker 1: I'm not gonna see you know what I'm saying. Like
- 32:43Speaker 1: the regular labels, they if it ain't broke, don't fix
- 32:46Speaker 1: it thousand percent. But some labels there's label heads want
- 32:50Speaker 1: to get to Kevin Gates to you know, little Babies,
- 32:55Speaker 1: to City Girls. We just signed all this. You see
- 32:57Speaker 1: it all the time because it'd be like a label
- 32:59Speaker 1: or sign somebody that's similar, that's their biggest artists, and
- 33:02Speaker 1: you like, these people are not gonna gravitate to this
- 33:05Speaker 1: person because they're already focused on this. Yeah, I alreadys
- 33:07Speaker 1: had that issue too, even when I'm produced, Like people
- 33:09Speaker 1: would come and say, bro, I need to go crazy.
- 33:11Speaker 1: It's like, no, that was Taylor made for jay Z
- 33:13Speaker 1: and jeez, you know what I'm saying, geez murk that
- 33:17Speaker 1: I'm not gonna give you that that that destroys my
- 33:19Speaker 1: legacy by doing that same beat. I'm not gonna do
- 33:21Speaker 1: Cannon twice. I'm not gonna do money longer twice. I
- 33:24Speaker 1: want to get like those live as pieces on the wall,
- 33:28Speaker 1: like boss Yat You're only gonna get one of those,
- 33:31Speaker 1: see you know what I'm saying, And that's that and
- 33:33Speaker 1: I can make you something, but they ain't gonna be
- 33:35Speaker 1: that beat. I just don't live like that. I feel
- 33:38Speaker 1: like if people thought like that in the industry, we
- 33:40Speaker 1: wouldn't have radio sounding the same with the same song
- 33:44Speaker 1: for so long. Now we have like you know, we're
- 33:46Speaker 1: finally getting too different sounds in women, you know what
- 33:49Speaker 1: I'm saying in the culture in general. So I wish
- 33:53Speaker 1: that had a lot of labels thought like that. Yeah,
- 33:56Speaker 1: I want to get into space. So like we're talking
- 33:58Speaker 1: about women's mouth right now, Like I want to get
- 34:01Speaker 1: into space where we have not necessarily Queen Latifa, but
- 34:05Speaker 1: somebody that has a voice in different spaces, like a
- 34:09Speaker 1: message behind she don't really get the yes, but she's
- 34:14Speaker 1: not she's alone. So it's like we need five in
- 34:17Speaker 1: that area. Company, like we're staying together, Like when you
- 34:21Speaker 1: did Ladies Night they had all the women on there,
- 34:23Speaker 1: or you remember I Want to Be Down remix, they
- 34:26Speaker 1: was all on that joint. Like we got too much
- 34:28Speaker 1: separation with the women now with how they're how they're
- 34:32Speaker 1: working together, or they work together, and then now that
- 34:34Speaker 1: fall out, Like it's the egos because if you if
- 34:38Speaker 1: you notice, it's the same thing that happens you know
- 34:40Speaker 1: a lot with with male rappers. You know, once they
- 34:43Speaker 1: get big guys like, oh, you don't rock with this person.
- 34:46Speaker 1: I don't want to do a song with you. But
- 34:49Speaker 1: the one thing that I do like is um I
- 34:51Speaker 1: love how you know popular. You know, the women's music
- 34:55Speaker 1: is now its sounding different, like Lola doesn't sound like
- 34:59Speaker 1: Ice Spice. You know that's what Spice don't sound like?
- 35:02Speaker 1: Doja cat? You know? He said, well, I said all
- 35:05Speaker 1: of sounds like she's six. Yeah, I love. I love
- 35:12Speaker 1: all that, like I love, I love the difference and stuff,
- 35:15Speaker 1: but I just want to see more of it. Like
- 35:17Speaker 1: we've been tackling this sound that we have now for
- 35:22Speaker 1: about two years, and soon we're just gonna get still
- 35:25Speaker 1: as human beings. We're gonna be like, man, we're tired
- 35:27Speaker 1: of that. Yep. You could be young, you've been old.
- 35:30Speaker 1: We're just gonna get tired of that. So we need
- 35:32Speaker 1: to kind of like make some different feels for people
- 35:35Speaker 1: to vibe to. It's even getting worse when we're playing
- 35:38Speaker 1: new artists for people and the first thing that says, yeah,
- 35:40Speaker 1: so vibe, like that's becoming a bad word to me,
- 35:43Speaker 1: Like it's a vibe. Oh that's what you're hearing a
- 35:45Speaker 1: lot of meetings, yes, just people run up on me
- 35:48Speaker 1: be like, yeah, that's just a little vibe. Like that's
- 35:50Speaker 1: becoming a bad word to me because I don't want
- 35:53Speaker 1: the vibe. I want energy, like I want I want
- 35:56Speaker 1: to feel something. People want to feel something like what
- 35:59Speaker 1: are we feeling? Like? I want to test to whatever
- 36:02Speaker 1: you're saying and feel a certain way. We're all from
- 36:05Speaker 1: the Mud, but I think we're drilling the fact that
- 36:08Speaker 1: we're all from the mud. Like, you know, each of
- 36:10Speaker 1: all of us have done something out of the mud.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I don't want to hear ten records about it, you
- 36:15Speaker 1: know what I mean, that's not what we're living for.
- 36:17Speaker 1: We always use hip hop as a vehicle to get
- 36:20Speaker 1: out of the mud. It's always since the eighties. Always mine, Man,
- 36:22Speaker 1: I'm getting out the projects, I'm getting out the situation.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I want to live a better life and still make
- 36:27Speaker 1: comparable music. But that's where we're getting stuck at in
- 36:31Speaker 1: the space where we're just like, man, you don't think
- 36:33Speaker 1: it's the label's fault. No, well, we make it, but
- 36:37Speaker 1: but the labels are the ones that's that's putting the
- 36:39Speaker 1: money behind. But we're making the records because they know
- 36:42Speaker 1: we're gonna give them a million dollars you're gonna give
- 36:44Speaker 1: them two million dollars. That's where it's at. When the
- 36:46Speaker 1: money don't kind of like dictate what we make. That's
- 36:50Speaker 1: when you're gonna see difference because people are gonna be
- 36:53Speaker 1: all broke, and people gonna be like, well, I'm doing
- 36:54Speaker 1: this broke and I'm happy. Well, I'm doing this broke
- 36:57Speaker 1: and I'm happy. Everybody's doing things based on their money,
- 36:59Speaker 1: and they change. You know, who got the best chain? Like,
- 37:03Speaker 1: we ain't heard no music from it. We ain't heard
- 37:05Speaker 1: no these rappers like you see, you see all these
- 37:08Speaker 1: rappers in the club. The ship that pisses me off
- 37:10Speaker 1: the most is like you will see a you know,
- 37:13Speaker 1: an independent rapper and he in the club with a
- 37:15Speaker 1: million chains, and he tries to get a DJ twenty
- 37:17Speaker 1: dollars to play a record. Yeah, And I'm looking at
- 37:19Speaker 1: him like yeah, because they're starting at a low ball situation.
- 37:22Speaker 1: So they always had that relationship. But I don't have
- 37:25Speaker 1: no issue with your hustle, in your chains and anything.
- 37:30Speaker 1: I want everybody to look different. If I have little
- 37:33Speaker 1: baby coming in with a Dior suit, I want to
- 37:35Speaker 1: see somebody elsewhere of a Sachi suit. I don't want
- 37:38Speaker 1: you to wear with little babies wearing my brother that's
- 37:41Speaker 1: his little baby, that's a superstar on its own. He
- 37:43Speaker 1: would get some influenced bodies by the artist, though, you know,
- 37:46Speaker 1: it's it's it's hard because people to see somebody like
- 37:49Speaker 1: little Baby or Oozy and they're on top of the game,
- 37:52Speaker 1: and then they like, I should imitate that, because then
- 37:55Speaker 1: people would think, you know, my success is simo too.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Like think about Ouzy, right, there's a lot of people
- 38:03Speaker 1: that wouldn't dare wear what he wore. But but they
- 38:06Speaker 1: starting to try to. It's started trying to dress like
- 38:10Speaker 1: uzi Um, you know, like trying his formula. They try
- 38:14Speaker 1: this formula, like even with the beats and yeah, the
- 38:18Speaker 1: new sound. But happening, you know, all stuff has been
- 38:23Speaker 1: happening in the industry. Doing a song and dance people
- 38:25Speaker 1: are like, hey, they're about to give me five er thousand,
- 38:27Speaker 1: I might as well copying. They would have it. You know,
- 38:31Speaker 1: it's just it's just difference, Like I'm stuck in the
- 38:33Speaker 1: mode of everybody being individuals. We did that when Will
- 38:37Speaker 1: Smith wore Nike's bus, Markey wore Poema, Puma wore uhha,
- 38:44Speaker 1: and then you wore dadas. They wore new shoestrings, So
- 38:46Speaker 1: it was like, bro, you we know you copied. You
- 38:49Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, I'm gonna wearing my hat. I'm
- 38:50Speaker 1: gonna take it out and it's gonna be open like
- 38:52Speaker 1: you do that. You know you're copying me. Now It's
- 38:54Speaker 1: like it's okay. Yeah, I think it's okay to being
- 38:56Speaker 1: a club. Did you and do things that you're doing?
- 38:59Speaker 1: I never thought that was okay. I want to see
- 39:02Speaker 1: him do his thing, stand on the couch and do
- 39:04Speaker 1: what he has to do, pouring shots to everybody. That's
- 39:06Speaker 1: where the past of I want to see. I don't
- 39:09Speaker 1: want to see another one of those. Social Media has
- 39:12Speaker 1: a lot of large part in that, Yeah, because it
- 39:16Speaker 1: makes it accessible to uh be able to get that
- 39:21Speaker 1: feel right away. Like you know, if you come on
- 39:24Speaker 1: there and you're wearing that jacket, I could just look
- 39:25Speaker 1: up your fit and I want the jacket and not
- 39:28Speaker 1: even give you respect for I saw this jacket on
- 39:30Speaker 1: and like you did it first. That's all I'm saying. Like,
- 39:33Speaker 1: we're not We're not in that space, and I feel
- 39:36Speaker 1: like we need to get back into a space where, um,
- 39:40Speaker 1: we're not doing the same thing. I love to be
- 39:42Speaker 1: an influence. But like, I'll come here and there's nothing
- 39:45Speaker 1: on this hoodie. You know what I mean. I would
- 39:47Speaker 1: love for somebody to get their own blue nothing on
- 39:51Speaker 1: this hoodie. You know what I'm saying. I don't because
- 39:55Speaker 1: do what you want. I'm just saying I wore this.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I found this in the office and I wanted to
- 40:00Speaker 1: have on something different than what I had on the
- 40:02Speaker 1: Supreme T shirt, which it's like, hey man, everybody has sprint. Okay,
- 40:05Speaker 1: how about this, It's a five dollar hoodie. Quick question though,
- 40:09Speaker 1: Did you do the dance to the just want to Rocky? Nah?
- 40:13Speaker 1: I don't. I don't have the I don't have a
- 40:15Speaker 1: rhythm for that, Like for that dance, who made their dance?
- 40:19Speaker 1: Did that go viral? I think it's a Philly dance.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I feel like it's one of those things where people
- 40:25Speaker 1: were battling, like member had to dance and the start
- 40:29Speaker 1: would be and I would throw it up and hit
- 40:32Speaker 1: the baseball. Somebody would twist they had like it started
- 40:36Speaker 1: out like that. So I think that Oozy added something
- 40:39Speaker 1: parts to his that made it his. But there's people
- 40:42Speaker 1: that I think they start here like oh you want
- 40:44Speaker 1: to battle and to start Yeah, I say the video
- 40:47Speaker 1: him that rolling out, ye want viral? Yeah, it started
- 40:50Speaker 1: as a battle, like they'll be in a circle, they'll
- 40:52Speaker 1: be on TikTok and they'll start with this and then
- 40:54Speaker 1: somebody will do a split, come up and do some
- 40:57Speaker 1: shit like that. I think that everybody got their own piece,
- 41:00Speaker 1: so it's no start to it. It's just like, hey,
- 41:02Speaker 1: it's like what we started the hood and how we started,
- 41:05Speaker 1: you know, rock, paper scissors, whatever. My question is, what
- 41:09Speaker 1: was it that you took from the labels to generation
- 41:12Speaker 1: now to make your your labels so successful. One of
- 41:16Speaker 1: the things was partnership. I feel like, uh, when I
- 41:20Speaker 1: was at death Jam, my partner with so many people too.
- 41:24Speaker 1: So so when I was coming up, HyG was there,
- 41:27Speaker 1: Big Sean Janet, King Logic, Little Dirt Loorice, Alicia carr
- 41:35Speaker 1: Iggy was there. I don't know if you'll remember the
- 41:37Speaker 1: double XL when they had the deaf Jam pull and
- 41:39Speaker 1: they pulled out the spread and it was like all
- 41:41Speaker 1: the rappers that was rocking at that moment. I felt
- 41:44Speaker 1: like when we were doing all that of Jeremiah, when
- 41:48Speaker 1: we were working with all these artists us as a
- 41:52Speaker 1: round table of the best brains Sycamore, Noah, no Id,
- 41:59Speaker 1: all a tag app, all these guys. We were sitting
- 42:02Speaker 1: in the room and was like, hey, we're gonna do
- 42:04Speaker 1: it together. Nobody was off in the corner like I'm
- 42:07Speaker 1: doing Dirk, I'm gonna break this and show you I'm
- 42:09Speaker 1: the best and our best executive ever. We was like, hey, man,
- 42:13Speaker 1: Sycamore was like, Yo, let's do it together. If you
- 42:15Speaker 1: fall off, I got your back. I fall off, you got,
- 42:17Speaker 1: I got your back, you know what I mean. We
- 42:19Speaker 1: did Jeremiah together, you know what I mean. And we
- 42:21Speaker 1: wasn't worried about who got the credit for nothing. We did.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Me and him did watch You together. He wanted wanted
- 42:26Speaker 1: me to pull in excuse me, some some records for him,
- 42:30Speaker 1: you know. Uh the rich Homi Kwan, my hitter came
- 42:33Speaker 1: out of me helping Sycamore with his project, you know
- 42:37Speaker 1: what I mean. And uh, no Noah was doing logic
- 42:41Speaker 1: in Janet and we all put in pieces to help
- 42:44Speaker 1: him do that. Dirk was one of the things that
- 42:46Speaker 1: I put my arm around and was like, yo, you're
- 42:48Speaker 1: the next guy. Me and Dion did that together, you
- 42:50Speaker 1: know what I mean. So it was like we all
- 42:53Speaker 1: had our back, so when Big boss Man came in
- 42:55Speaker 1: the room, He's like, so what we got was I'm worried.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I got Geez Me and Sycamore doing Jeezy me and
- 43:00Speaker 1: you know me and Beon doing this, and it was
- 43:02Speaker 1: like they wanted to separate it and make it in
- 43:04Speaker 1: a space where everybody could get blamed. It's something that happened,
- 43:08Speaker 1: but we were sticking together, and I feel like that
- 43:10Speaker 1: partnership kind of allowed everything to work and move smooth,
- 43:16Speaker 1: and I think that's what happens now. It's like, even
- 43:18Speaker 1: though I may have been the first one off the
- 43:21Speaker 1: ship to find Oozy and start to set up, everybody
- 43:24Speaker 1: added day piece to make it work. You know what
- 43:28Speaker 1: I mean, you know, finding something that's whatever, making it
- 43:32Speaker 1: making a vision grow. It's something totally different. And that
- 43:36Speaker 1: was that was the main staple, was like partnership, Like
- 43:40Speaker 1: any of us easily. Drum could start a label on
- 43:42Speaker 1: his own right now. I could start a label on
- 43:44Speaker 1: myself right now, same as they anybody else. But I
- 43:47Speaker 1: felt like the partnership allowed us to do a ton
- 43:52Speaker 1: push instead of me just turn around, sweat and trying
- 43:56Speaker 1: to make it work. So that was the main thing
- 43:58Speaker 1: I learned outside of that if we're talking about seeing
- 44:04Speaker 1: how budgets work is a different thing. You know, you
- 44:06Speaker 1: don't see that seeing on the streets. Like I'll always
- 44:09Speaker 1: work with artists and some of the mixtapes we've done,
- 44:12Speaker 1: we didn't understand budgets, you know. So I wanted to
- 44:16Speaker 1: learn how budgets worked, How product managers add tool you know,
- 44:21Speaker 1: the conveyor belt product, the products of the conveyor belt.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Marketing people why they market that way? Radio people, why
- 44:28Speaker 1: do you target those certain radio stations? Execs? Why are
- 44:32Speaker 1: you only spending this amount of money in this quarter?
- 44:35Speaker 1: So all those things, like I wanted to learn, like,
- 44:38Speaker 1: you know, a playbook on Tom Brady arn Like, I
- 44:40Speaker 1: wanted to know all the plays so I knew when
- 44:43Speaker 1: we come out of there and I go back in
- 44:45Speaker 1: that building, they're like, hey man, you can't do this,
- 44:47Speaker 1: and I'm like, well, I know how to do that.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I know why, I know why you're coming like that,
- 44:52Speaker 1: and I know what we deserve. So that's the things
- 44:55Speaker 1: that I wanted to work on coming out of that building,
- 44:58Speaker 1: and that's what I learned. You know, don can't appreciate
- 45:01Speaker 1: you joining us, son. Yeah, it is now time for
- 45:07Speaker 1: PEP talk. Yo, Yeah, what's up. It's the legend self
