- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to the Daily Writer Podcast.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: You know, there are a lot of advantages to being an introverted writer.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: You enjoy being alone, which is a big benefit when trying to get your writing done.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: You'd mostly rather spend time with books than with people, which can help you dive deeply into literature and learning.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: You'd rather observe than participate, which can help you approach life like a journalist or researcher.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: However, those same tendencies can backfire sometimes.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: The very strengths that help you become a great writer can also make it hard for you to build an audience, which is something that every writer has to do.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: So here are five quick tips for introverted writers on building an audience.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Number one, don't be afraid to put yourself and your writing out there.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Life is not all about observing others or writing about other people's experiences.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: We want to hear what you have experienced and what you have to say about your topic.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Number two, remember that writing is all about serving people.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: Don't get hung up on what you think that other people think about you.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Keep in the forefront of your mind this idea that writing is about helping and serving people.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Number three, get out and have real conversations with people.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: As introverts, we often live in our heads and we avoid life in the real world.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: But this is where the action happens.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Don't think of people as exhausting.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Think of people as your best teachers and the reason that you do what you do.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Number four, test out material by blogging, podcasting, guest posting, and writing for other websites.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: The only way to get better is to write consistently.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: So don't worry about trying to build a perfect system.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Just start writing and testing out material in as many places as you can and then get better by learning from those experiences.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: And then finally, number five, don't overanalyze this process.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Just start writing and you can course correct as you go.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: You have to let go of the need to be perfect and to have it all figured out.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Just relax, get to work, and know that you are intelligent and you'll figure it out as you go along.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: You know, your greatest strength can also be your greatest weakness.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Don't get sucked into the lie that people are the enemy.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: You're there to serve them, enjoy them, and first and foremost to learn from them as well.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question which of these five tips do you need to put into practice the most?
