But today, I want to learn how to tell time. Lucas: Perfect choice. Knowing how to ask and tell time is super useful. So, let's start with the question: 'ሰዓት ስንት ነው?' — that means 'What time is it?' Luna: ሰዓት ስንት ነው? Say it again? Lucas: ሰዓት ስንት ነው? — ሰዓት ስንት ነው? Luna: ሰዓት ስንት ነው? That's a mouthful but I think I got it. Lucas: You did great. Now, to answer, we say 'አንድ ሰዓት ነው' for 'It's one o'clock.' Luna: አንድ ሰዓት ነው. One o'clock. Lucas: Exactly. And for two o'clock, it's 'ሁለት ሰዓት ነው'. Luna: ሁለት ሰዓት ነው. That sounds similar. Lucas: It does. The pattern is number + ሰዓት ነው. So three o'clock is 'ሦስት ሰዓት ነው'. Luna: ሦስት ሰዓት ነው. Okay, I think I can do this. Let me try asking you: ሰዓት ስንት ነው? Lucas: ሰዓት ስንት ነው? Perfect! And I'll answer: አንድ ሰዓት ነው. Luna: So if it's two, you say ሁለት ሰዓት ነው? Let me try: ሰዓት ስንት ነው? Lucas: ሁለት ሰዓት ነው. You nailed it. Now imagine you're meeting a friend. You could ask them the time.
