Speaker 1: Last question, Thanks sir.
• 0:02
Speaker 2: Governor Gavin Newsom has floated this idea of a one
• 0:05
Speaker 2: hundred percent state tax on Californians who have received money
• 0:09
Speaker 2: from President Trump's anti weaponization fund. Your response to the
• 0:12
Speaker 2: Governor's call from from seven.
• 0:14
Speaker 1: There's no cure for stupid update. Okay, okay, thank you all.
• 0:20
Speaker 3: Today you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with
• 0:24
  Speaker 3: Ben Ferguson.
• 0:25
Speaker 4: Good Saturday morning. Nice to have you with us on
• 0:27
Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got one big
• 0:29
Speaker 4: story for you. The Democrats are in a civil war
• 0:33
Speaker 4: over the ideas of what they're running on. Is it Marxism,
• 0:36
Speaker 4: is it socialism? Is it communism? Well, there's a lot
• 0:40
Speaker 4: of fighting over it, and what they have decided on
• 0:43
Speaker 4: truly is shocking. It's the forty seven Morning Update and
• 0:46
Speaker 4: it starts right now.
• 0:48
  Speaker 3: Story number one.
• 0:49
Speaker 4: Well, the good news is if you're a Republican, there's
• 0:51
Speaker 4: a full blown civil war unfolding inside the Democratic Party
• 0:55
Speaker 4: right now and it's not getting a lot of attention,
• 0:58
Speaker 4: but voters are paying a time and one of their
• 1:01
Speaker 4: own senators just admitted it publicly. Corey Booker started talking
• 1:07
Speaker 4: openly about desperation inside the Democratic Party. You know, the
• 1:12
Speaker 4: panic has moved from private conversations behind closed doors now
• 1:16
Speaker 4: into public view. And that's exactly what we witnessed in
• 1:21
Speaker 4: the last twenty four hours. Corey Booker recently acknowledged that
• 1:25
Speaker 4: millions of Americans, and frankly millions of Democrats, well, what's.
• 1:29
Speaker 2: Something they already know?
• 1:30
Speaker 4: The Democratic Party is struggling to find not only new energy,
• 1:34
Speaker 4: but new leadership and then a message that actually connects
• 1:38
Speaker 4: with voters outside of the elite activist circles. Now, Booker's
• 1:43
Speaker 4: comments about Democrats needing a new fresh set of faces
• 1:48
Speaker 4: and ideas may sound simple on the surface, but politically
• 1:52
Speaker 4: those words are devastating to a party that thinks they're
• 1:56
Speaker 4: going to clean up in the midterm elections. When a
• 1:59
Speaker 4: senior Democrat says the party needs fresh faces, new faces,
• 2:03
Speaker 4: and new ideas, what he's really saying is this, the
• 2:07
Speaker 4: current leadership isn't working, the current strategy isn't working, and
• 2:13
Speaker 4: the current leadership and strategy may be actually dragging the
• 2:17
Speaker 4: party towards another election day disaster. Now, this isn't just
• 2:22
Speaker 4: about one quote from Corey Booker either. This is about
• 2:26
Speaker 4: a Democratic Party that is fractured in multiple competing factions,
• 2:31
Speaker 4: all of them point the finger, all of them blaming
• 2:34
Speaker 4: each other for why they're losing support with working class voters,
• 2:39
Speaker 4: with independence, with Hispanic voters, with young men with suburban parents,
• 2:43
Speaker 4: and even parts of their traditional urban coalitions. And the
• 2:48
Speaker 4: infighting is getting uglier by the day. I want you
• 2:52
Speaker 4: to take a listen to what Corey Booker had to
• 2:54
Speaker 4: say on TV as he described this publicly for the
• 2:57
Speaker 4: first time. So take a listen Corey Booker in his
• 3:01
Speaker 4: own words, talking about the Democratic Party and saying what
• 3:06
Speaker 4: many Democrats wished he never would have talked about.
• 3:09
Speaker 2: What's the message from Leader Schumer or Leader Jeffries on
• 3:14
Speaker 2: helping the American people. I mean, I cover this for
• 3:17
  Speaker 2: a living, and I'm not sure there's a coherent message
• 3:19
Speaker 2: about elect Democrats because this is what we're going to do.
• 3:22
Speaker 2: I mean, I know you all hate Trump, but what else.
• 3:24
Speaker 1: Well, that's again plainly what I've been saying. You are
• 3:27
Speaker 1: not going to win this election just by what you're against.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: You need to start articulating who you're for and what
• 3:33
Speaker 1: you're for. Have a vision that's compelling that not only
• 3:36
Speaker 1: engenders trust, but makes sense for the American people.
• 3:38
Speaker 2: You still have faith in the Schumer to be in
• 3:41
  Speaker 2: charge of you.
• 3:41
Speaker 1: I am telling people left and right, we are five
• 3:44
Speaker 1: months out from election. What is going to make the
• 3:46
Speaker 1: Republicans gleeful is if we're talking about each other in
• 3:49
Speaker 1: the Democratic Party and not talking about the realities that
• 3:52
Speaker 1: Americans are facing. I am tired of all this machination
• 3:57
Speaker 1: about party politics in a crisis right now, millions of
• 4:02
Speaker 1: Americans losing their health insurance, their costs skyrocketing. I talk
• 4:06
Speaker 1: to more and more New Jerseyans who are barely staying
• 4:09
Speaker 1: afloat enough of normal party politics. We need to focus
• 4:13
Speaker 1: on the people, and the Democratic Party desperately needs new leadership.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: And that's what's exciting me about this cycle. It's not
• 4:19
Speaker 1: only new leaders emerging, but a new vision for our party.
• 4:22
Speaker 1: But you can damn well be sure that I'm going
• 4:24
Speaker 1: to be talking about what our party needs to do
• 4:26
Speaker 1: to change and what our party needs to go. And
• 4:28
Speaker 1: the biggest issue for me, and I think what makes
• 4:30
Speaker 1: me frustrated with politics as usual is the massive corruption
• 4:34
Speaker 1: going on in all three branches, from a Supreme Court
• 4:37
Speaker 1: that's taking unlimited gifts from billionaires who have interests in
• 4:40
Speaker 1: matters before them to Congress, people trading stocks and accepting
• 4:44
Speaker 1: corporate cash and corporate pack money to a president who
• 4:47
Speaker 1: is setting records for being the greatest grifter in chief
• 4:50
Speaker 1: we have ever seen. We need real change that engenders
• 4:53
Speaker 1: trust again in American politics, but more importantly in the
• 4:57
Speaker 1: people that are standing up right now and swaying now.
• 5:00
Speaker 4: The end fighting is getting uglier by the day. You
• 5:03
Speaker 4: got one wing of the Democratic Party that says, well,
• 5:05
Speaker 4: we've gone too radical, and then you have the other
• 5:08
Speaker 4: side saying, are you kidding me, We're not radical enough?
• 5:12
Speaker 4: And then one faction says the party has abandoned Middle America,
• 5:16
Speaker 4: and another side of the party says, well, we just
• 5:19
Speaker 4: spend too much time trying to appeal to moderate so
• 5:21
Speaker 4: let's just stop doing that. And underneath all of this
• 5:25
Speaker 4: is the brutal reality Democrats cannot escape. They still don't
• 5:30
Speaker 4: know how Donald Trump keeps winning the political conversation. That's
• 5:34
Speaker 4: the part that's driving them absolutely crazy, because after years
• 5:38
Speaker 4: of investigations, media attacks, impeachment efforts, even the criminal cases
• 5:44
Speaker 4: in the non stop political warfare, Trump still dominates the
• 5:48
Speaker 4: national conversation. He still controls the Republican Party, Unlike any
• 5:52
Speaker 4: political figure that we've seen literally in modern political American history,
• 5:58
Speaker 4: and Democrats are looking around asking themselves the big question,
• 6:02
Speaker 4: how are we losing ground after all of this? And
• 6:06
Speaker 4: that's why Corey Booker's comments became so interesting, because what
• 6:10
Speaker 4: he's really describing is a confidence crisis inside of his
• 6:14
Speaker 4: own party. Just think about what Democrats are facing right now.
• 6:18
Speaker 4: Twenty twenty four post election autopsy exposed major weaknesses with
• 6:23
Speaker 4: younger voters and also refusing to admit their own flaws.
• 6:27
Speaker 4: One of the great examples is they completely admitted the
• 6:30
Speaker 4: fact that, well, there was a massive cognitive decline of
• 6:33
Speaker 4: Joe Biden. If you do an autopsy on how you
• 6:36
Speaker 4: lost an election with Kamala Harris, but you don't look
• 6:39
Speaker 4: at that, and you don't look at the fact that
• 6:41
Speaker 4: no one voted for Kamala Harris. That's right, she was coronated.
• 6:45
Speaker 4: There was also another problem there. Now the polling also
• 6:49
Speaker 4: shows something else that's interesting. There is now growing frustration
• 6:53
Speaker 4: within the Democratic Party on issues like inflation, even immigration, crime,
• 7:00
Speaker 4: and then cultural extremism. That's not good for Democrats running.
• 7:05
Speaker 4: You've got Democratic governors that are increasingly at odds with
• 7:08
Speaker 4: progressive activists. You've got moderates in the Democratic Party that
• 7:12
Speaker 4: are nervous about the far left messaging that's coming from
• 7:15
Speaker 4: all the activist groups and the donors are beginning to
• 7:19
Speaker 4: quietly worry, apparently that the party, the Democratic Party, has
• 7:23
Speaker 4: become so disconnected from normal Americans that they've completely lost
• 7:27
Speaker 4: sight of reality. And that's why you're hearing phrases like
• 7:32
Speaker 4: new faces or new generation, or new ideas, or rebranding
• 7:36
Speaker 4: or course correction, all of those have been used in
• 7:39
Speaker 4: the last several days by Democrats on TV. Now, these
• 7:43
Speaker 4: aren't hopeful slogans at all. These are actually slogans of
• 7:47
Speaker 4: warning signs that they now realize are right in front
• 7:50
Speaker 4: of them. Look, political parties, they only start using language
• 7:54
Speaker 4: like this when they believe the current model is in
• 7:57
Speaker 4: a disaster spiral. And then there's also another major issue,
• 8:03
Speaker 4: who is actually the leader of the Democratic Party, who
• 8:06
Speaker 4: exactly is leading on the issues, And that's becoming harder
• 8:10
Speaker 4: and harder to answer. Former President Joe Biden remains deeply
• 8:14
Speaker 4: polarizing figure within his own party, and he's nowhere to
• 8:17
Speaker 4: be found. You've got Vice President Kamala Harris continues to
• 8:20
Speaker 4: struggle with approval ratings in voter enthusiasm even as she
• 8:24
Speaker 4: says I'm running for president again more than likely. And
• 8:27
Speaker 4: progressive stars like AOC excite activist audiences, but then they
• 8:33
Speaker 4: create bigger concerns among the moderates. Governors are also trying
• 8:38
Speaker 4: to emerge nationally. Look, governors are even trying to emerge
• 8:42
Speaker 4: politically for the White House, but none have fully consolidated
• 8:46
Speaker 4: their support outside of their own state. And then you've
• 8:49
Speaker 4: got sentaters like Corey Booker. Yes he's looking at running
• 8:52
Speaker 4: for president, but he's also signaling that the Democratic Party
• 8:56
Speaker 4: is in need of an entirely new makeover and other forwards,
• 9:00
Speaker 4: a new direction he believes. Look, there's not a lot
• 9:03
Speaker 4: of unity right now. There's no framework for how they're
• 9:06
Speaker 4: going to get back on top, and the generational divide
• 9:09
Speaker 4: within the Democratic Party is becoming impossible to hide. Older
• 9:13
Speaker 4: establishment Democrats still dominate much of the party infrastructure and
• 9:17
Speaker 4: their donations. But the younger radical activists, well, they want
• 9:22
Speaker 4: aggressive ideological confrontation on everything from climate policy to policing,
• 9:28
Speaker 4: to immigration, to foreign policy to trans issues. Moderates, by
• 9:33
Speaker 4: the way, they want things totally different. They want electability.
• 9:38
Speaker 4: Activists want ideological purity, which doesn't happen on either side
• 9:42
Speaker 4: of the aisle very often, and then donors are saying, Hey,
• 9:46
Speaker 4: they just want stability in America and they want stability
• 9:49
Speaker 4: around the world. The grassroots organizers, many of them, have
• 9:53
Speaker 4: dried up because they don't believe in going to war
• 9:57
Speaker 4: on behalf of some of these radicals, Which brings me
• 10:00
Speaker 4: to one Democratic candidate that is being supported by the
• 10:03
Speaker 4: elites of Washington, and that's a guy who has a
• 10:08
Speaker 4: Nazi tattoo. Yes, Graham Platner. He is in Maine, and
• 10:14
Speaker 4: he is the guy who's got the most wild opposition
• 10:18
Speaker 4: research file I've ever seen any candidate have. And the
• 10:22
Speaker 4: Democratic Maine Senate candidate even had to dodge questions this
• 10:26
Speaker 4: week about an apology. He was confronted over a deleted
• 10:29
Speaker 4: Reddit post where he said a purple heart recipient didn't
• 10:34
Speaker 4: deserve to live. Yes, he actually said that. He was
• 10:39
Speaker 4: asked if he wanted to apologize after saying that, and
• 10:43
Speaker 4: here is the response from the Democratic leading candidate in Maine.
• 10:47
Speaker 5: I was wondering, if you regret the posts about the
• 10:51
Speaker 5: purple heart veteran, if you think you need to apologize
• 10:56
Speaker 5: to him, what you would say to the voters who
• 11:01
Speaker 5: might up said FY.
• 11:04
Speaker 1: Four tours the Infantry. Any attempt to say that I
• 11:09
Speaker 1: disrespect Cutters is slanderous and offensive.
• 11:12
Speaker 5: Do you think you allm an apology?
• 11:16
Speaker 1: Do you know how many of my friends of Purple Arts?
• 11:18
Speaker 5: Do you know how many of my friends go winded? Charlotta?
• 11:21
Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you.
• 11:25
Speaker 4: So there you have it, a Democratic Party that insults
• 11:28
Speaker 4: our men and women that serve this country, refuse to apologize,
• 11:32
Speaker 4: and then there's massive infighting on top of that. What
• 11:35
Speaker 4: we now know, and it's pretty darn clear, is the
• 11:38
Speaker 4: Democratic Party has no idea who's in charge or even
• 11:41
Speaker 4: what they actually stand for. And that's where we are
• 11:44
  Speaker 4: right now.
