- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:53Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:55Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and stories along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:07Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations,
- 1:11Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:19Speaker 1: for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:26Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:32Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:39Speaker 2: But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each
- 1:42Speaker 2: one for the profit of all, or to one is
- 1:46Speaker 2: given the Word of wisdom through the Spirit. As we
- 1:51Speaker 2: have studied, we are looking at the nine gifts of
- 1:55Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit. We discussed more in detail the Word
- 1:59Speaker 2: of Knowledge in yesterday's segment. Today we are going to
- 2:03Speaker 2: cover the word of wisdom. What is the difference. Wisdom
- 2:09Speaker 2: and knowledge are not the same, but they can work
- 2:13Speaker 2: in conjunction with themselves. The Holy Spirit can use a
- 2:20Speaker 2: direct word of knowledge, and he can also completely solve
- 2:25Speaker 2: a problem or a dilemma that we may be dealing
- 2:28Speaker 2: with by giving us the wisdom as to how to
- 2:33Speaker 2: apply that knowledge. You know, there are times when the
- 2:38Speaker 2: word of knowledge is not quite enough to solve a
- 2:42Speaker 2: particular problem. This is where we need a word of wisdom.
- 2:48Speaker 2: The word of wisdom gives us the ability to properly
- 2:53Speaker 2: apply the knowledge that we've been given. Sometimes in that
- 3:00Speaker 2: application we learn that there is a difference between the
- 3:06Speaker 2: knowledge and the understanding and the wisdom. As an example,
- 3:13Speaker 2: you might have the instructions to assemble a particular type
- 3:18Speaker 2: of machine, and you may have all of the manuals
- 3:22Speaker 2: in everything that show you how the parts are assembled.
- 3:28Speaker 2: But if you don't have the wisdom as to what
- 3:33Speaker 2: it means, then you more than likely are not going
- 3:37Speaker 2: to be able to assemble that mechanical part or machine.
- 3:43Speaker 2: But when you do have the wisdom, you will then
- 3:47Speaker 2: be able to put the machine together and it will
- 3:50Speaker 2: function as it is supposed to. So what good is
- 3:56Speaker 2: it if you have knowledge without wisdom. There's one thing
- 4:02Speaker 2: for us to have a gift of the Word of knowledge,
- 4:06Speaker 2: supernaturally provided to us by the Holy Spirit. But He
- 4:11Speaker 2: also will not just leave us with that word of knowledge.
- 4:16Speaker 2: In many cases, he will impart the word of wisdom
- 4:21Speaker 2: to complete the use of that word, and it will
- 4:25Speaker 2: generally be to help someone else. There are ways that
- 4:31Speaker 2: we can see this applied in a real life situation.
- 4:38Speaker 2: You know, we can all look at words of wisdom
- 4:43Speaker 2: from the Holy Spirit in our daily lives, in practical
- 4:49Speaker 2: in practical situations, so we will know at that point
- 4:55Speaker 2: how we can handle even more complex types of problems
- 4:59Speaker 2: or issues that can occur, sometimes even at a moment's notice.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Here are just some of the ways that we can
- 5:08Speaker 2: receive words of wisdom directly from the Holy Spirit. Now
- 5:15Speaker 2: these are not necessarily the same, but an example, your
- 5:21Speaker 2: boss has just given you a new tough assignment and
- 5:25Speaker 2: you're not sure as to how to get the job
- 5:29Speaker 2: properly done. You now need God's knowledge and wisdom on
- 5:35Speaker 2: how to get this new assignment successfully completed. Here's another one,
- 5:40Speaker 2: because it applies to many of us very realistically. Today,
- 5:46Speaker 2: your finances have spiraled out of control, and you now
- 5:50Speaker 2: need God's guidance and wisdom on how to keep yourself
- 5:55Speaker 2: out of bankruptcy or sometimes even other financial failures. Perhaps
- 6:02Speaker 2: you've been named in an unjust lawsuit. You'll now need
- 6:07Speaker 2: God's wisdom on how to properly handle it. As you
- 6:13Speaker 2: can see, there are literally an infinite number of possibilities
- 6:18Speaker 2: where you will need God's wisdom to get you safely
- 6:22Speaker 2: through the problem or dilemma you are now having to
- 6:26Speaker 2: face again. Since our own human intelligence is so imperfect
- 6:32Speaker 2: and so limited in its ability to apply real wisdom
- 6:37Speaker 2: to handle and solve some of life's real tough problem,
- 6:43Speaker 2: we all need the wisdom of God flowing through our
- 6:47Speaker 2: lives on a regular basis so we can handle and
- 6:52Speaker 2: overcome many of life's adversities that can get thrown our way.
- 6:58Speaker 2: At any time, we're reminded of how God imparts wisdom.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Sometimes it is a solution to a problem that cannot
- 7:11Speaker 2: be naturally solved. Other Times it may be a direction
- 7:17Speaker 2: where we don't know where we're supposed to go. We've
- 7:21Speaker 2: been given a map, but we don't have the wisdom
- 7:26Speaker 2: as to which way we are supposed to direct our path.
- 7:32Speaker 2: We know that in the Bible we are told of
- 7:36Speaker 2: a very definite example where wisdom is imparted to a king,
- 7:43Speaker 2: King Solomon. He's actually attributed to be one of the
- 7:49Speaker 2: wisest of the men ever applied in scripture. Why was
- 7:56Speaker 2: this example paramount in this demonstration of the gift of
- 8:02Speaker 2: wisdom given to a man. What had happened was very
- 8:08Speaker 2: difficult to understand. Two women who had both had children.
- 8:16Speaker 2: One of the women lost the child, perhaps at childbirth.
- 8:22Speaker 2: The child died, and the other woman had the child
- 8:27Speaker 2: and it was able to survive. The one woman who
- 8:33Speaker 2: had lost the child wanted desperately to have a child,
- 8:39Speaker 2: but she couldn't have another child, perhaps at that time,
- 8:45Speaker 2: and so what she thought to do was to take
- 8:48Speaker 2: the baby while the other woman was sleeping. She took
- 8:54Speaker 2: the baby and in effect claimed it to be hers,
- 9:00Speaker 2: and so an issue was raised. The two women are
- 9:05Speaker 2: fighting about whose baby the child actually is, and so
- 9:13Speaker 2: they come to the king, and the king addresses the situation,
- 9:19Speaker 2: and this is how the wisdom is used. What he
- 9:23Speaker 2: says to both of the mothers of whichever child would
- 9:31Speaker 2: have belonged to them. There's one child and two mothers,
- 9:36Speaker 2: and so what King Solomon says is take the child
- 9:42Speaker 2: divided in half, give one half to the one mother
- 9:47Speaker 2: and the other half to the other mother. Now, obviously
- 9:52Speaker 2: that would kill the child. But the wisdom here used
- 9:58Speaker 2: was to find out who the real mother was. And
- 10:03Speaker 2: so the woman who had stolen the baby, whose child
- 10:08Speaker 2: had actually died, she agreed to that method. She actually
- 10:16Speaker 2: said I can accept that, whereas the other woman said no,
- 10:23Speaker 2: give her the baby because she did not want to
- 10:28Speaker 2: see the child suffer or die. In this example, King
- 10:35Speaker 2: Solomon knew that the woman who was willing to give
- 10:41Speaker 2: up her own child so as to save its life
- 10:46Speaker 2: was the true mother.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 10:53Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard King, you can hear
- 10:57Speaker 1: this message innis entirety again online as well as Richard's
- 11:00Speaker 1: entire archive at Talknetwork Radio dot com. We would like
- 11:05Speaker 1: to acknowledge our theme song, how Great is Thy Faithfulness

- 11:17Speaker 1: which is published by Homan Bible Publishers from Nashville, Tennessee.

- 11:25Speaker 1: K include Great is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread
- 11:29Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 11:33Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 11:37Speaker 2: This was an example in the Old Testament of how
- 11:41Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit anointed a king with special wisdom. That
- 11:49Speaker 2: wisdom today is available by the same Holy Spirit only
- 11:57Speaker 2: in our lives. Now that the Holy Spirit in dwells us,
- 12:03Speaker 2: we just have to be more willing to allow him
- 12:08Speaker 2: to impart that wisdom. Remember, when a gift of the
- 12:13Speaker 2: Word of knowledge is given, it may be exactly what
- 12:19Speaker 2: is needed for that situation, but knowing it is one
- 12:24Speaker 2: thing and applying it with wisdom is another reason for
- 12:31Speaker 2: this gift. When we look at the gift of the
- 12:35Speaker 2: Word of wisdom, we understand it is God's means of
- 12:41Speaker 2: explaining to us how to use the knowledge he provides.
- 12:48Speaker 2: And that is today's reflection on the Word.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 12:57Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Work your
