- 0:00SPEAKER_01: This is Brenda, and I'm back with Brenda's horror movie reviews, and I have Stacy with us again.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: I didn't think she'd be back this soon, but she kind of laid back on the couch and I put Trilogy of Terror on since we were going to talk about Karen Black again.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: She was in the review that I did about burnt offerings, and now it's Trilogy of Terror, where she plays a character in all three segments of that movie.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: Do you remember the movie?
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I remember it being the three different, kind of like Twilight Zone, sort of, you know, right.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I relate a lot to Twilight Zone when I'm watching scary stuff.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I think as a kid I was intrigued by Twilight Zone and terrorized a little bit.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: So just it being broken up into totally three different stories.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Was neat.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: It is neat.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: We'll just start with the first one and go from there.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Do you remember?
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: The first one had us a little concerned because I hadn't watched the movie in decades and it did not stand the test of time.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: It's one of those questionable actors where was it supposed to be high school or a college and he's hitting on his professor?
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: And luckily it is college.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I did look it up, so I'm gonna assume he was over 18.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: And he puts her in a position where he took pictures of her and drugged her up.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: I'm getting a look already.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: It's one of those that it it's so cringy to watch.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: But luckily the tables turn on him at the end.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: You know, it was all planned and she got him where she got him.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: And good for her, and good for her being able to come back and being like, oh no, got him back.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: So I loved it.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Basically, she said, I'm bored.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I'm bored now.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Entertained me.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: And I think he was shocked.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, he thought he had the upper hand because he had pictures of her and was using her, but it was really the other way around.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: She was playing him.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Love that.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Gotta love it.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: And then the second story, she played two different characters, supposedly twins or sisters.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Do you remember that?
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: And the psychologist kept coming over, and sh one of them was kind of whoreish and the other one was very prudish.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Straight laced, you're making the face.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Well, it doesn't that one doesn't ring a bell with me as much as the first and third one.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know what I was doing in the second one, but it just doesn't ring that much of a bell with me.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I do like movies back in those days.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: I love looking at the decorations and not the different things.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I think the twins lived in a really nice house, right?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Big house, antiques.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, antiques everywhere.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: And I think I was more in tune with the way it was decorated than Okay.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: But I know that's one of your things.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: You like the atmosphere.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: I do, I like the atmosphere.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: That's a that's a big deal.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: It has to be.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: I think all three of them did.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Even in the third one, I love her apartment.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: I think it is adorable.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: That was good.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Does that one stand out?
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: That's the one that stood out to me that affected me when I was younger.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, the last time I'd watched it, I was pregnant with Camille.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: And Camille is 38, almost 39, so it's been a long time since I've watched it.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: That little Zuni statue.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'd never seen any of these, the little segments, and I liked it.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Watch that again or something like that.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Would you?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: I think it's the old stuff that's coming back to me and wanting me to watch things I've never seen before, I guess.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: ABC got a bunch of phone calls the night that it aired because it was for TV.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: And they were accused of playing nightmare cult TV songs.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: You know that wasn't a thing back then.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that this was originally a for TV.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: Yes, it was for TV.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: And I started looking up little bits and things because that um the Zuni statue wasn't supposed to move initially.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: And it was all done with like strings and different things.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: And the noise that it makes, ying ying, it's a piglets that they sped up and slowed down because they were trying to get the flight or fight response.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: But it just freaked me out.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: That little booger gives me the wheelies.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: But then by the end, I think we were both saying, like, I want one of those.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: I know I was looking them up on Amazon.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: See if I can find a zooni.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: You need a zoomy.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: You're just thinking of stuff now.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: I'm just thinking of stuff.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Nothing wrong with that.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: And I also heard that Karen Black would not watch the movie after it was made.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: She almost backed out of it twice.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: What a pretty, pretty woman, too.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Isn't she?
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she's like one of those women who like you're just put in a trance watching her.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: And why I mean, you know, it's not like when you think about it, like she's that spectacular.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: That there's just something about her and her aura.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: And when she's talking, then you just want to hear more.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Tell me more.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I wish people felt that way about us.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Somebody needs to listen.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: But here we are.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Um I know.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: How about she's actually watching more scary movies?
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: I'm loving it.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: So how many wine glasses would you give this movie?
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: We'd like the environment.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Of course, we like the old house.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: That's a big deal.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: I don't feel the empathy level was high on this one.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, but you know what?
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: She shouldn't have never gone out with him if it was gonna go that direction, but it went a different direction.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: So more power to her.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: That's all I have on that one.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: It was entertaining.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: It was very entertaining.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Especially that third story.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: That's the one that stands out to everybody.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: If you mention trilogy of terror to anybody, I bet that's the story that sticks out.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: That little statue running around with his little spear, his little knife.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Creepy.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Creepy.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: He is creepy.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Erie?
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: I look I think of Erie as being dark on this.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: It's just not, it doesn't have that.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: None of the stories did.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: So what are we saying?
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Two and a half?
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Wine glasses?
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: I'd give it three.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Three?
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: I'd give that little statue three on his own.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: I would.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: He deserves it.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: I wonder if he'd sit and drink with us.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: You think he'd try and stab us after that?
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking we do.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll get our research department right on that.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: I know, which is me.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: We'll find out more information and uh be back here next time.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: Well, I guess we're gonna wrap this up.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: I know we went over our little five minutes, and that's fine.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Um, the next episode is gonna be on Sleepaway Camp.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: I might not watch that one.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: That's another one that I don't think stood the test of time.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I might not watch that one.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: It sounds a little scary.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: I don't like camps.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I know, I might be on my own on that one.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Until next time.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Bye.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Bye.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Doodle.
