- 0:03Speaker 1: This is JAGSA. I'm the first edition in our brand
- 0:06Speaker 1: new podcast studio in our brand new building, the Miller
- 0:10Speaker 1: Electric Center. Guys, what's your favorite thing about the NEC The.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Windows, every single one of them. Twenty nine years in
- 0:15Speaker 2: a building without them, natural light is appreciated.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Well, look around you at the TV studio, the TV
- 0:21Speaker 3: studio and the podcast studio.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Jags A. I'm presented by Carshield. You can call car
- 0:42Speaker 1: shield now if your cars out of manufacturer's warranty. Do
- 0:45Speaker 1: not get stuck with expensive mechanical and computer repairs. Call
- 0:49Speaker 1: car shield Now. I'm your host, Ka Nannie Stevens, Brian Sexton,
- 0:53Speaker 1: John Osier with me today. Not to brag, but look
- 0:56Speaker 1: at where we are a little bit of a change
- 0:58Speaker 1: of venue. I'd say we're going up here. Obviously everyone
- 1:02Speaker 1: has seen what the practice facilities look like for the players,
- 1:04Speaker 1: but we've got our new studios as well. So I'm
- 1:07Speaker 1: enjoying the new digs, the new normal, if you will.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Well, you know we're talking about being a consistent playoff team.
- 1:13Speaker 2: They're talking about championship caliber football. Here you have championship
- 1:17Speaker 2: caliber facilities, both for those of us at broadcasting and
- 1:20Speaker 2: for the football folks. It feels like it's happening at
- 1:22Speaker 2: the right moment, not an accident.
- 1:24Speaker 3: If you're going to be one of thirty two, you
- 1:27Speaker 3: have to keep up here in the stadium, which we're
- 1:31Speaker 3: gonna be talking about, you know, for the next couple
- 1:33Speaker 3: of years. You must be state of the art and
- 1:37Speaker 3: you must be you know, the best that there is
- 1:39Speaker 3: out there, and this is that And.
- 1:41Speaker 1: We joke around, oh yeah, there's windows, there's natural light.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But that's talking about the word joking, because when you
- 1:47Speaker 1: go to work and you don't know what time of
- 1:49Speaker 1: day it is, it's a little bit different. And not
- 1:50Speaker 1: only that, you're trying to recruit players to come here.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Jacksonville's on the up swing. You've got a great young quarterback,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and when you want to come to work, maybe you
- 1:58Speaker 1: want to stay in the off season and actice out
- 2:00Speaker 1: of this facility that has to help this team moving forward.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I would think.
- 2:04Speaker 4: So.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I can't tell you how many times I talked to
- 2:06Speaker 2: coaches who would come through here over the years and
- 2:08Speaker 2: they'd be like, yeah, you feel disconnected when you're in
- 2:11Speaker 2: the cave, right, And Tom Coughlin loved that because he
- 2:15Speaker 2: wanted the guys focused on nothing but football. But it
- 2:19Speaker 2: tend to your mind, Wanders. It's it really It matters
- 2:23Speaker 2: that you can see what's going on in the world outside,
- 2:25Speaker 2: and then I can tell you, for one, that sitting
- 2:28Speaker 2: at a desk with a window is I'm not going
- 2:30Speaker 2: to be in such a hurry to get outside like
- 2:32Speaker 2: I had been all these years.
- 2:34Speaker 1: John, I know you like your corner office in the darkest.
- 2:38Speaker 3: We well, let's not call it a corner office.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I'm being generous by calling it a corner office. It's
- 2:43Speaker 1: literally a corner of a room. Are you going to
- 2:45Speaker 1: come over here now that we have some more space?
- 2:49Speaker 3: If invited, I will attend fair enough.
- 2:51Speaker 1: We're gonna get into the details of nitty gritty all
- 2:54Speaker 1: the fun fancy stuff that they have in this building
- 2:56Speaker 1: a little bit later on in the show. But let's
- 2:58Speaker 1: talk about one of the bigger stories this offseason. Evan
- 3:00Speaker 1: Ingram has signed a new deal. We did not know
- 3:02Speaker 1: if it was going to be a franchise tag or
- 3:04Speaker 1: if he was going to get a longer term deal done.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I think the team wanted it done, Evan Ingram wanted
- 3:08Speaker 1: it done. Finally we get the specifics of it, that
- 3:10Speaker 1: three year deal. Brian where what does this mean. For
- 3:14Speaker 1: it to finally be the offense that we've already talked
- 3:16Speaker 1: about is excellent. But to now have this back.
- 3:18Speaker 2: And well he is going to in today's game. It's
- 3:23Speaker 2: about space. It's about creating space and letting your playmakers
- 3:28Speaker 2: go one on one with someone out in space. And
- 3:30Speaker 2: Evan Ingram is going to create space, Calvin Ridley's going
- 3:34Speaker 2: to create space. Guys like Christian Kirk and Zay Jones
- 3:37Speaker 2: and Travis etn we'll all benefit from the space. Let
- 3:42Speaker 2: me take it from a different angle, right, John can
- 3:44Speaker 2: talk a little bit more about the football.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Side of it.
- 3:45Speaker 2: For me, it creates space with the salary cap, right,
- 3:48Speaker 2: because there were only a few guys kai where they
- 3:50Speaker 2: could go and create room. One of them is obviously
- 3:55Speaker 2: Evan Ingram, and you did it. You're not going to
- 3:57Speaker 2: do anything with Josh Allen because he's on his fifty
- 3:59Speaker 2: year ten. You're not going to do anything with Kyviri
- 4:02Speaker 2: Ridley because you want to see something from him. And
- 4:06Speaker 2: then you come up against Cam Robinson and you're probably
- 4:11Speaker 2: not gonna do anything there either. So he was one
- 4:13Speaker 2: of the few places where you could create salary cap
- 4:15Speaker 2: room heading into the season, John The Jaguars have the
- 4:17Speaker 2: fifth most salary cap space, and if they need to
- 4:21Speaker 2: go and sign a veteran pass rusher, if there's a
- 4:23Speaker 2: corner that they decide they want to chase, they've got
- 4:26Speaker 2: the room to be able to do it.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it gives them some flexibility. If they don't do it,
- 4:31Speaker 3: then it gives them some options at the trade deadline.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I don't know that they're going to be in it, like,
- 4:38Speaker 3: I don't know that they feel panicked to do anything.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Keep getting questions about pas Rusher, et cetera. You still
- 4:44Speaker 3: want to not be silly with what you do now
- 4:46Speaker 3: because the roles are in the future and they've got
- 4:48Speaker 3: issues going forward.
- 4:50Speaker 1: So then they got another guy they're gonna have to
- 4:51Speaker 1: pay a lot of money to coming up.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so you got to be smart about it, you know.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I think it's more of it of a cap space
- 4:59Speaker 3: story than it is a twenty twenty three story. Evan
- 5:02Speaker 3: was going to be here. He had the right attitude.
- 5:06Speaker 3: What was impressive was, even if he had had to
- 5:09Speaker 3: play under the franchise tag, you never got any impression
- 5:13Speaker 3: that it was going to be a negative situation. He'd
- 5:17Speaker 3: gone out to Arizona with the guys he was going
- 5:19Speaker 3: to be here. He was all in on this. What
- 5:22Speaker 3: this does is he keeps them all in for two
- 5:24Speaker 3: years here.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I was able to cover the giants a little bit
- 5:28Speaker 1: while Ingram was there, and he was a completely different person.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I'm sure he's told you guys as much, just what
- 5:33Speaker 1: he was able to come here in a one year
- 5:35Speaker 1: and do. Brian, I know you said he's one of
- 5:37Speaker 1: the guys you go to go to God. He's become
- 5:40Speaker 1: that vetter in presence a little bit.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Well, first of all, every time I talk to him,
- 5:44Speaker 2: he was grateful to be here, right. I mean, he's
- 5:46Speaker 2: from outside of Atlanta, he played at all this He
- 5:49Speaker 2: had nothing negative to say about playing in New York.
- 5:51Speaker 2: But we all know that's a completely different planet, let
- 5:54Speaker 2: alone a different part of the country. I mean, that's
- 5:56Speaker 2: completely different. He felt comfortable here with the coaching staff,
- 5:59Speaker 2: with the ski, especially with the quarterback, and all season long,
- 6:03Speaker 2: even during that five game losing streak where they were
- 6:05Speaker 2: losing at the end of the game, he saw something
- 6:08Speaker 2: and he kept telling his younger teammates just keep working.
- 6:11Speaker 2: This thing is starting to arrive. I was not surprised
- 6:16Speaker 2: that they got something done maybe the timing of it,
- 6:19Speaker 2: but it was clear he wanted to be here.
- 6:21Speaker 1: John, You've worked in other markets, obviously, you've seen free
- 6:24Speaker 1: agents come and go. It really feels like he just
- 6:26Speaker 1: felt at home here and this was a place where
- 6:28Speaker 1: he could blossom and it was the right time for
- 6:30Speaker 1: him to come to Jacksonville.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Ya as Brian was talking just now, the comparison, and
- 6:37Speaker 3: it's so far removed, it's three decades later. But remember
- 6:42Speaker 3: Jeff Lockman was drafted in New York, came here, played
- 6:46Speaker 3: I think three seasons with the Jags, and if I'm
- 6:49Speaker 3: misremembering his career, I apologize three or four seasons here,
- 6:53Speaker 3: and it made his home here. Clearly thinks of himself
- 6:56Speaker 3: as a Jaguar. Now he's gone on to work for
- 6:59Speaker 3: the team for years. All that makes but you know,
- 7:02Speaker 3: it feels to me like Evan, even after a year,
- 7:06Speaker 3: considers this his football home. Maybe I'm exaggerating that, but
- 7:11Speaker 3: that's how it felt. So a good move. Happy for him,
- 7:17Speaker 3: and I think it settles him going into the season,
- 7:20Speaker 3: which can be nothing but positive.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And I think it bears mentioning this a couple of
- 7:23Speaker 2: years ago was thought to be a place you didn't
- 7:25Speaker 2: want to go right.
- 7:26Speaker 1: And now we're getting.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Exactly the facility, the coach, the quarterback, the market, the
- 7:31Speaker 2: state right with all of the weather and the tax
- 7:35Speaker 2: issues that worked to a player's advantage to play here
- 7:38Speaker 2: as opposed to a California or in New York or
- 7:40Speaker 2: in Illinois. This is a place where all of it,
- 7:44Speaker 2: and the quarterback in particular is going to attract a
- 7:47Speaker 2: lot of people. And you can tell we.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Talk a ton about the offense. I do want to
- 7:51Speaker 1: get to the defense a little bit because I know, Brian,
- 7:53Speaker 1: you have a little bit of a hot take that
- 7:55Speaker 1: you read it and brought to me. I won't give
- 7:57Speaker 1: it to you. I won't like to make you go
- 7:58Speaker 1: with it, but you brought it to me that I've
- 8:00Speaker 1: found very interesting thought. Let's discuss it.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Randy Mueller, right, longtime general manager in this league, most
- 8:07Speaker 2: visibly in Minnesota. Recently he was in Seattle. His brother
- 8:10Speaker 2: Rick was one of the key personnel guys here as
- 8:13Speaker 2: Tom Coughlin built this team twenty nine years ago. I
- 8:15Speaker 2: know you remember him, John. He writes for the Athletic
- 8:18Speaker 2: Now and he wrote a sentence about the Jaguars defense
- 8:22Speaker 2: that really caught my attention and that was that the
- 8:24Speaker 2: Jaguars defense has more players who are tough to block
- 8:30Speaker 2: than any other team in the league, any in the
- 8:33Speaker 2: league exclamation point. He said, it hasn't shown up yet,
- 8:37Speaker 2: but when you look at these guys, you see big
- 8:40Speaker 2: guys who run, who have the measurables, and they will
- 8:44Speaker 2: be a good defense this year if given the chance
- 8:48Speaker 2: to go and chase the quarterback.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It's very interesting wording.
- 8:51Speaker 3: John.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Do you feel like some of that is the uniqueness
- 8:53Speaker 1: of certain position players that we.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Have maybe some so much of its projection, because I
- 9:01Speaker 3: can't say that any fan who is reading that and saying, well,
- 9:04Speaker 3: that's ridiculous is wrong because we haven't seen it.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I haven't proven yet.
- 9:08Speaker 3: It hadn't been proven yet. I still think a lot
- 9:11Speaker 3: of it goes back to what Brian alluded to. This
- 9:15Speaker 3: defense really in recent memory, even last year when this
- 9:19Speaker 3: team was good, did not play with a lot of leads.
- 9:22Speaker 3: You know, you think about the playoff game. I think
- 9:25Speaker 3: they led for what thirty seconds in that game, So
- 9:29Speaker 3: that was the trend coming down the stretch late in
- 9:31Speaker 3: the season. If you think about it, in games where
- 9:35Speaker 3: the defense stood out late in the season, you really
- 9:39Speaker 3: think of the Jets and the Texans, well, they never
- 9:44Speaker 3: got down in those games, so the defense was able
- 9:47Speaker 3: to play its game against offenses that had to be bound.
- 9:50Speaker 3: You know that we're not able to run and protect
- 9:54Speaker 3: the quarterback the whole time. I believe they will play
- 9:57Speaker 3: with more leads. I think if they do, you we'll
- 10:00Speaker 3: see players like Trayvon, like Josh Allen, make Randy Mueller
- 10:04Speaker 3: look like a prophet.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Not just him though. Roy Robertson Harris is a really big, long,
- 10:09Speaker 2: physical guy. Fully fought Takasi. I don't think he was
- 10:12Speaker 2: healthy all season long. Devin Lloyd, I mean, here's a guy,
- 10:17Speaker 2: and of course Tyson Campbell is a big corner. So
- 10:20Speaker 2: I think that there's just a lot of guys to
- 10:22Speaker 2: choose from. One other thing that he said that is
- 10:23Speaker 2: worth mentioning is he said, if you have a couple
- 10:25Speaker 2: of bucks just for giggles, throw it down on Trayvon
- 10:28Speaker 2: Walker to be the defensive player of the year.
- 10:31Speaker 1: He's that good. And even hotter take within the hot take.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I love a hot take, not us. Oh no no,
- 10:37Speaker 1: we're all absolve ourselves. We just heard about it, so
- 10:40Speaker 1: we'll bring it back. We'll do the receipts later hopefully
- 10:42Speaker 1: he is a prophet and that all comes true. Stay
- 10:45Speaker 1: with us. We're going to look ahead and a little
- 10:47Speaker 1: bit about seeing who will be needing to make this
- 10:51Speaker 1: training camp roster or make their best effort out there
- 10:54Speaker 1: in training camp coming up. Jags Am is back with
- 11:10Speaker 1: you. You can call car shield now if your cars out
- 11:12Speaker 1: of manufacturer's warranty, do not get stuck with expensive mechanical
- 11:16Speaker 1: and computer repairs, call car shield now. We are certainly
- 11:21Speaker 1: happy to be in this new studio with jags Am.
- 11:24Speaker 1: We got a new name for you guys as well.
- 11:26Speaker 1: We're going to try out some new things. We want,
- 11:28Speaker 1: you know, our fans and everyone to be involved a
- 11:31Speaker 1: little bit more so. We hope that you get to
- 11:34Speaker 1: us on social media or wherever, right into John and
- 11:36Speaker 1: let us know what you think or what you want
- 11:38Speaker 1: to see, because we've got some new things we're working
- 11:41Speaker 1: on and hopefully you like them. One of them is
- 11:43Speaker 1: the fifty three we're looking at. His early training camp
- 11:45Speaker 1: has not begun yet, but who's going to make this
- 11:47Speaker 1: final roster and who are some people we're looking at
- 11:49Speaker 1: that need to have a good training camp if they
- 11:52Speaker 1: want to make the roster. Brian will start with you y,
- 11:53Speaker 1: I'll be getting.
- 11:54Speaker 2: The fifty three with Gregory Junior. It's no surprise because
- 11:58Speaker 2: quarterback was an area of emphasis this offseason. We talked
- 12:01Speaker 2: about it a lot, and the Jaguars were often identified
- 12:04Speaker 2: in the first round of the draft with one of
- 12:06Speaker 2: those cornerbacks, and there were a number of them. Of course,
- 12:08Speaker 2: they didn't end up that way. They took Canton Harrison.
- 12:11Speaker 2: The Jaguars grabbed a young man last year in the
- 12:13Speaker 2: sixth round named Gregory Junior from what Cheetah Baptist in Arkansas,
- 12:18Speaker 2: smallest of schools. He's the first player ever drafted from
- 12:22Speaker 2: that school. Now, he's not the first player to play
- 12:24Speaker 2: in the NFL. A guy named Cliff Harris is in
- 12:27Speaker 2: the Hall of Fame. He went undrafted back in seventy
- 12:30Speaker 2: and was a great safety with Cliff Waters or pardon me,
- 12:33Speaker 2: Charlie Waters during the seventies. Okay, that's a sidebar.
- 12:37Speaker 1: That's me.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Here's the pro ready. He's a big corner. He's six foot,
- 12:44Speaker 2: one hundred and ninety pounds, but he's muscular. He's big
- 12:48Speaker 2: up top. He's got a big set of legs on him.
- 12:51Speaker 2: He's got long arms. He looks the part of a
- 12:54Speaker 2: physical corner. What he lacks, John, is that experience against
- 13:00Speaker 2: elite level athletes, because you didn't face that NCAA Division
- 13:04Speaker 2: two right, you faced small college players. So he's behind
- 13:08Speaker 2: the curve of players who played in the SEC or
- 13:10Speaker 2: the Big Ten. He needs time on task. But talking
- 13:14Speaker 2: to guys last year about him, he got better on
- 13:16Speaker 2: the practice field and a number of the coaches said
- 13:19Speaker 2: he's got a chance, which coming from which he'd a
- 13:21Speaker 2: baptist in the sixth round. You didn't say that necessarily.
- 13:25Speaker 2: He earned the chance to be in the conversation this year.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I don't know whether it's fair to say, but the
- 13:31Speaker 2: Jaguars really need him to step up and to have
- 13:35Speaker 2: a great training camp because he's a guy with the
- 13:38Speaker 2: physical capabilities to play John, But you and I both
- 13:41Speaker 2: know it's an intellectual game. You got to know how
- 13:44Speaker 2: to read an offense and figure out what's coming, and
- 13:46Speaker 2: we'll see if he can get there.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I think got cornerback depths. As much as people have
- 13:51Speaker 3: talked about past rush, I think got cornerback depth in
- 13:53Speaker 3: training camp is a huge story. You've got Tyson Campbell,
- 13:57Speaker 3: Trey Herndon, and Darius Williams well you got those three
- 14:01Speaker 3: guys who you feel good about. We're not sure what's
- 14:04Speaker 3: going on with Chris Claybrooks some off the field stuff lately.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Where is the fourth, fifth, sixth corner. I think he's
- 14:11Speaker 3: got to come out of the group. They have drafted
- 14:13Speaker 3: it late last year, they drafted it late this year.
- 14:18Speaker 3: At some point, if you're going to take that approach,
- 14:20Speaker 3: somebody from that group needs to step up and be
- 14:24Speaker 3: that death we're talking about. They have to have some
- 14:30Speaker 3: production and have to have those guys develop.
- 14:34Speaker 1: And I think going into training camp, you know, having
- 14:37Speaker 1: that depth is never a bad thing, so no matter
- 14:39Speaker 1: what position it is, so hopefully we can get that.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And if you're trying to make you know, cornerback or
- 14:43Speaker 1: anything like that, obviously playing special teams is a huge
- 14:46Speaker 1: part of that as well. John, is there anyone you
- 14:48Speaker 1: have your eye on that needs to have a good
- 14:49Speaker 1: training camp? In your eyes?
- 14:50Speaker 3: I'm always tight end. Garrett Prince. I think he's a
- 14:54Speaker 3: first year guy, second year out of school, was on
- 14:56Speaker 3: the practice squad all last year. I think people who
- 14:58Speaker 3: have watched these shows, who've listened to us is not
- 15:01Speaker 3: surprised that I went that direction. We talked about him
- 15:03Speaker 3: a lot during the off season. The tight end room.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I don't want to say it's set, but you've got Ingram,
- 15:11Speaker 3: Luke Farrell, and you have Briton Strange and I think
- 15:14Speaker 3: I think Prince will be.
- 15:14Speaker 1: The fourth guy.
- 15:16Speaker 3: You usually have four that you like that you sort
- 15:18Speaker 3: of have interchangeable parts with. I think Ingram and Prince
- 15:22Speaker 3: feel like the move guys. Feral and Strange feel like
- 15:29Speaker 3: guys who can block and bring a little bit more
- 15:30Speaker 3: of that. That's usually the combination, Brian, that you go
- 15:35Speaker 3: with out of that bunch. But out of the four,
- 15:38Speaker 3: Prince is clearly the guy who needs training camp to
- 15:41Speaker 3: sort of solidify what's been whispered and talked loudly within
- 15:46Speaker 3: this building about. They like him, they think that he
- 15:49Speaker 3: has a lot of potential, but he has to show
- 15:52Speaker 3: that with pads during practice and in preseason.
- 15:54Speaker 2: So you recall we were standing on the practice field
- 15:56Speaker 2: one day last year and a member of the personnel
- 15:58Speaker 2: department kind of tapped us on the shoulder. Don't sleep
- 16:00Speaker 2: on him. He's got good height, he's got really good length,
- 16:04Speaker 2: he moves well, has a feel, and he's not scared
- 16:08Speaker 2: in the middle of the field. You know, not everyone
- 16:10Speaker 2: operates well in the middle of the field, but he
- 16:12Speaker 2: clearly is comfortable out there. I think he's a terrific
- 16:15Speaker 2: looking prospect. Whether he becomes a terrific player or not,
- 16:18Speaker 2: that's up to him, but he certainly has a chance and.
- 16:21Speaker 1: He's in a good position here. Obviously, Evan Ingram has
- 16:24Speaker 1: been around a little bit, and he's really taken on
- 16:26Speaker 1: that veteran role where he's helping younger players now that
- 16:29Speaker 1: he's come here and felt comfortable, So I have no
- 16:31Speaker 1: doubt he'll be very helpful in that tight end room.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I think I'd be really.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Helpful with thirteen point six million dollars, I think anything
- 16:37Speaker 2: could make me for a year. Yes, you need baby,
- 16:41Speaker 2: really I wish for me.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I'm looking at one of the picks from this year.
- 16:45Speaker 1: We had a lot of draft picks this year. Yeah,
- 16:47Speaker 1: Cier Abdullah out of Louisville. A lot of people think
- 16:50Speaker 1: he's undersize. You know, he's not gonna be able to
- 16:53Speaker 1: translate that numbers. If he's a sack guy in college,
- 16:56Speaker 1: as some would say, he can be a sack guy
- 16:58Speaker 1: in the pros. I'm a fan. Just in our limited
- 17:02Speaker 1: interaction they talk about culture around here. This man will
- 17:04Speaker 1: fit in absolutely perfectly. And just to see the way
- 17:07Speaker 1: he goes about things. You see some of these rookies
- 17:09Speaker 1: come in. Their eyes are real big. They don't know
- 17:11Speaker 1: what's going on. They're just trying to figure it all out.
- 17:13Speaker 1: He seems like he's been here for five years already.
- 17:16Speaker 2: You're looking for guys who can multitask, who could do
- 17:19Speaker 2: different things, and he's got the body because he's a
- 17:22Speaker 2: bigger pass rusher. He's got the body to be able
- 17:25Speaker 2: to get up towards the line of scrimmage and be
- 17:27Speaker 2: effective against the run and not just that edge rusher.
- 17:30Speaker 2: But he's also got the quickness based on the numbers
- 17:32Speaker 2: that he put up at Louisville, when you have twenty
- 17:34Speaker 2: three twenty four sacks in his career, he's got the
- 17:36Speaker 2: ability to play in space as well. In today's day
- 17:39Speaker 2: and age, you get a fourth or fifth round pick,
- 17:41Speaker 2: you need the guy to be able to do multiple
- 17:42Speaker 2: things and probably play on special teams. He looks to
- 17:45Speaker 2: me like a guy who can handle that.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's always tough. People have listened to me for
- 17:49Speaker 3: a long time. No, I don't love talking about rookies
- 17:53Speaker 3: in training camp because I'm always skeptical how much a
- 17:56Speaker 3: rookie's going to produce in this league, especially outside the
- 17:58Speaker 3: first round. But there is a spot edge rusher, pass
- 18:04Speaker 3: rusher on this defense. I think the team will be
- 18:08Speaker 3: watching to see if they have that depth we were
- 18:12Speaker 3: talking about earlier Trayvon, Josh Allen and obviously youre set
- 18:16Speaker 3: calebon Chase on. We'll see there's a spot for a
- 18:20Speaker 3: young player and if do it can be that spot
- 18:22Speaker 3: to step in and I get a real opportunity. I
- 18:26Speaker 3: think for him, there's an unusual opportunity for a rookie
- 18:31Speaker 3: to come in and produce early on a lot of teams.
- 18:34Speaker 3: I don't know that you would have that clear cut
- 18:36Speaker 3: spot if it was last year with arden Key still here,
- 18:38Speaker 3: I have a clear cut spot. There is an opportunity
- 18:42Speaker 3: for Abdula to make an impact.
- 18:43Speaker 1: This year, and if anybody's gonna come take it, I
- 18:45Speaker 1: wouldn't doubt that it would be him. He certainly isn't
- 18:47Speaker 1: starstruck by the lights or anything like that, so we'll
- 18:49Speaker 1: see what he's able to do in training camp. We
- 18:52Speaker 1: want all of you to stay with us. Coming up,
- 18:53Speaker 1: we're going to talk about the Miller Electra Center, our
- 18:55Speaker 1: new studios and all of that right here in the
- 18:58Speaker 1: Hyundai studios. So stay with us. Yes, move the freight,
- 19:07Speaker 1: Move the freight. Magellan Transport voted coolest office space in Jacksonville.
- 19:11Speaker 1: You can apply online at Magellanlogistics dot com. I know
- 19:15Speaker 1: they're the coolest office space, but when they vote again,
- 19:18Speaker 1: we might have a chance of that because this new
- 19:21Speaker 1: facility here, this is just our podcast studio. We also
- 19:24Speaker 1: have a new studio where jags Am will be in
- 19:26Speaker 1: the future, and just this building as a whole. It's
- 19:29Speaker 1: better than advertised, at least in my opinion.
- 19:31Speaker 3: I gotta think Dougiep's office is gonna trump Magella in
- 19:33Speaker 3: now than you's pretty good. It's pretty good, I'm sure.
- 19:39Speaker 3: And yeah, it's an unbelievable facility, and I would think
- 19:43Speaker 3: pretty cool on the cool scale.
- 19:45Speaker 1: We want you guys to take a look at a
- 19:47Speaker 1: little bit what this ribbon cutting was like earlier this
- 19:49Speaker 1: week and what the new facility looks like on the inside.
- 19:59Speaker 6: Jacksonville is rising, Our football team has a great promise,
- 20:03Speaker 6: and downtown Jacksonville is beginning to fulfill its potential.
- 20:08Speaker 3: One two three.
- 20:14Speaker 6: The Miller Electric Center is symbolic of our core value
- 20:17Speaker 6: of community in Miller Electric and our shared commitment with
- 20:21Speaker 6: the Jaguars and investing in the city of Jacksonville.
- 20:25Speaker 4: The Jacksonville Renaissance is underway, and I am so glad
- 20:28Speaker 4: to see the Jaguars playing such a big part of it.
- 20:31Speaker 2: It takes all of us. It's not about one individual
- 20:33Speaker 2: or one person, you know, it takes a village to
- 20:36Speaker 2: build something.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Like this, and that's what we have here in Jacksonville.
- 20:38Speaker 1: And that's why I'm so proud to represent this football team.
- 20:49Speaker 4: I look forward to our shared future and I know
- 20:52Speaker 4: that no matter what it holds, we're gonna all take
- 20:54Speaker 4: it a play at a time and we're gonna get
- 20:56Speaker 4: it done.
- 21:00Speaker 1: You guys have been here longer than I have, so
- 21:02Speaker 1: this has been in the works. Brian. Are you impressed
- 21:04Speaker 1: with what they were able to deliver here?
- 21:06Speaker 4: Oh?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah, It's hard not to be. And I've been fortunate.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I have friends around the league have seen some of
- 21:12Speaker 2: these standalone facilities. I've seen the Star in Dallas, which
- 21:15Speaker 2: is obviously a huge deal. You talk about keeping up
- 21:18Speaker 2: with the Jones, is that's what the rest of the
- 21:19Speaker 2: league has been doing for all these years. Try to
- 21:21Speaker 2: keep up with Jerry Jones. But you know, you judge
- 21:24Speaker 2: a job number one on the quarterback, right, the ownership,
- 21:27Speaker 2: the quarterback, the facilities, it's a big factor. And we
- 21:32Speaker 2: talked earlier about this not having been a job that
- 21:35Speaker 2: people would associate with being a good one. It's a
- 21:38Speaker 2: great one right now. I mean the facilities, the ownership,
- 21:41Speaker 2: The market showed itself off well late last season against
- 21:44Speaker 2: the Chargers and Titans, and now you mix in these facilities. Yeah,
- 21:48Speaker 2: this is a really good job.
- 21:49Speaker 3: And these things are always a process, and you know,
- 21:51Speaker 3: I don't want fans to sit here and think, well,
- 21:53Speaker 3: the Jeduares have been behind forever. There's usually a cycle
- 21:57Speaker 3: with these things. Facilities last and there's a shelf life
- 22:02Speaker 3: on them. The Jaguars facilities were built twenty eight, twenty
- 22:06Speaker 3: nine years ago. It was it was time for this.
- 22:10Speaker 3: It's going to be time for the stadium soon. They're
- 22:13Speaker 3: back where they ought to be.
- 22:14Speaker 1: We talked earlier. You know, you joke about the windows,
- 22:17Speaker 1: but it's different when you're not joking, when you're not
- 22:19Speaker 1: underneath the stadium. I know, it's not a joke. Like
- 22:21Speaker 1: when you have no time, no idea what time of
- 22:23Speaker 1: day it is, it's different. You know, you have we
- 22:25Speaker 1: live in Florida. Like, if players want to practice in
- 22:28Speaker 1: the off season, they have a nice facility to come to.
- 22:30Speaker 1: They're going to stay in town and they're gonna do that.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And when you're trying to attract free agents, that's something
- 22:34Speaker 1: you can roll out there of course, as well as
- 22:36Speaker 1: this is where you're coming to work and have some
- 22:38Speaker 1: pride in that. Uh, you guys said your favorite things.
- 22:42Speaker 1: My favorite thing is actually for the fans because to
- 22:44Speaker 1: see the stands there with shade, with fans, physical fans
- 22:49Speaker 1: to blow the air around and chuirbacks and bucks. Not
- 22:53Speaker 1: to miss that, it's actually going to be comfortable somewhat
- 22:55Speaker 1: for you to watch training camp. You're not gonna be
- 22:57Speaker 1: out in the beating sun trying to you know, stand
- 22:59Speaker 1: dround and see a practice and that was no fun.
- 23:02Speaker 3: The NFL is supposed to be fun for fans. You
- 23:06Speaker 3: don't necessarily want to make people work and suffer to
- 23:09Speaker 3: see you. And as much as people love the Jags,
- 23:14Speaker 3: it is tough on August sixth just to stand out
- 23:17Speaker 3: in the blazing sun. I don't know that most fans
- 23:20Speaker 3: we qualify it as being fun for the entire time.
- 23:23Speaker 3: I think it's got a chance to be really cool.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Think fans are gonna love it.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I think there's what two thousand seats times thirteen open practices.
- 23:29Speaker 2: I mean, do the math by twenty six something like
- 23:32Speaker 2: twenty six hundred, John Oh, twenty six thousand.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah, math is in our strong suit.
- 23:38Speaker 2: There will be a lot of fun. You got it right,
- 23:41Speaker 2: You got it right. I think almost all of them
- 23:42Speaker 2: are claimed fair enough.
- 23:44Speaker 1: If they aren't sold out, they will be sold out
- 23:46Speaker 1: by the time we're talking about this right now. I'm
- 23:48Speaker 1: sure it has been by this point. Coming up, we're
- 23:51Speaker 1: going to talk a little bit about what we have
- 23:53Speaker 1: for content coming up now. The training camp is around
- 23:55Speaker 1: the corner, and also some feature pieces that we worked
- 23:58Speaker 1: on during the off season. Chad's fans, If you want
- 24:06Speaker 1: customized Jaguars furniture for your home, you can check out
- 24:09Speaker 1: zipchair dot com to browse all customizable options. That's zip
- 24:13Speaker 1: chair furniture for fans at zipchair dot Com. I don't
- 24:18Speaker 1: know if they got any of that gear in here,
- 24:19Speaker 1: but this place is decked out to the gills, so
- 24:21Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if zip chair had something to
- 24:24Speaker 1: do with it. I know we talked a lot about
- 24:26Speaker 1: the studio. We are happy to be in here. This
- 24:28Speaker 1: has been a work in progress, especially because of the
- 24:30Speaker 1: off season. We haven't done our shows for a while,
- 24:34Speaker 1: so we're happy to see everybody back. We're going to
- 24:35Speaker 1: start doing shows more frequently. But it did give us
- 24:37Speaker 1: a little bit of time to work on some other things.
- 24:39Speaker 1: John and I were able to go to Thomaston, Georgia,
- 24:42Speaker 1: which is where Trayvon Walker is from, and we got
- 24:45Speaker 1: to do a video piece and also a written piece.
- 24:48Speaker 1: And I want you to take a look at just
- 24:49Speaker 1: the beginning of the video piece. Guys, sound tracked Thomason.
- 25:04Speaker 1: What do you tell people ask where you're from?
- 25:06Speaker 5: How I said, A small town, like twenty five minutes
- 25:09Speaker 5: outside of making Then I'll come and be like Thomas
- 25:12Speaker 5: and Georgia for the simple fatal Not many people going
- 25:14Speaker 5: to know where it's at. It's home to me, but
- 25:17Speaker 5: a lot of people still want But even if I
- 25:19Speaker 5: try to explain it to them, they still want to
- 25:20Speaker 5: know where it is. You see the same people every day,
- 25:26Speaker 5: like you go to school, see the same people in
- 25:29Speaker 5: school every day you get out of school. You got
- 25:30Speaker 5: a little routine, go to the store after school, like
- 25:33Speaker 5: you go see the same exact people every day. When
- 25:36Speaker 5: I was younger, I always wanted to get away from
- 25:39Speaker 5: just for the simple factor is not not really many
- 25:42Speaker 5: businesses h I supposed to be doing, being raised in
- 25:49Speaker 5: this small time. I have to say it was obviously
- 25:52Speaker 5: my family who put the most into me. Everybody in
- 25:55Speaker 5: the town knows me, shows support, been showing support since
- 25:58Speaker 5: I was a little kid. Veroh appreciably.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Now that's the opener to the piece if you have
- 26:08Speaker 1: some time. The full video is on the Jaguars YouTube page.
- 26:11Speaker 1: The companion written piece written by John is on the
- 26:14Speaker 1: website at Jaguars dot com. I think what I enjoyed
- 26:18Speaker 1: most about this is just the chance to go and
- 26:20Speaker 1: see where someone is from. Is a completely different view
- 26:22Speaker 1: of them than maybe what you see at work. And
- 26:25Speaker 1: Trayvon is very kind, but to actually meet in person,
- 26:28Speaker 1: when you meet him, but when you meet his family,
- 26:30Speaker 1: see where he comes from, it's just a different level
- 26:33Speaker 1: of understanding. And if you don't come out of watching
- 26:35Speaker 1: that or reading about him and your rooting for him
- 26:37Speaker 1: this season, then I don't want to meet you, because
- 26:40Speaker 1: I'm now hoping for success for him on the field
- 26:43Speaker 1: and off the field.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it gives you an idea. When you
- 26:49Speaker 3: meet and talk to Trayvon, you get the idea of
- 26:53Speaker 3: reserved kid who's very solid, confident in himself and doesn't
- 27:00Speaker 3: feel like he has to shout to be an effective person.
- 27:04Speaker 3: If you follow me, he's confidence in himself. And then
- 27:07Speaker 3: once you get to that town and you meet his
- 27:10Speaker 3: parents and spend time around people have been around him,
- 27:13Speaker 3: you see that he gets it honest, so to speak.
- 27:15Speaker 3: That's where he's from, and so I enjoy talking to him.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I think the pieces that we did portray him accurately,
- 27:23Speaker 3: and I think if people watch them, they'll get an idea.
- 27:25Speaker 3: And like you said, I don't think any Jaguars fans
- 27:29Speaker 3: are rooting against this guy. He's a very easy kid
- 27:31Speaker 3: to root for and I'm expecting a big season from him.
- 27:36Speaker 2: If they watch the video, they will be rooting for
- 27:39Speaker 2: him rapidly because he is a great young man and
- 27:43Speaker 2: if he's half the player that he is as a
- 27:47Speaker 2: personnest he will be in great shape.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Absolutely check that out. If you guys have not the
- 27:52Speaker 1: videos on YouTube and Jaguars dot Com for the written
- 27:55Speaker 1: piece as well. This has been our first edition of
- 27:58Speaker 1: jags Am. We're in the books. Things are a little
- 28:00Speaker 1: bit different. We're going, we're moving, We're figuring out as
- 28:03Speaker 1: we go along. We thank you for joining us throughout
- 28:05Speaker 1: this process. We'll see again soon. We're here in the
- 28:07Speaker 1: Hyundai studios. We'll see you on Jack's amm
