- 1:19Speaker 5: It's been a few times, y'all. This is Brandon Collins

- 1:30Speaker 2: Nice?
- 1:30Speaker 1: Very nice, welcome back.
- 1:32Speaker 4: That's an old that's an old record held by like
- 1:35Speaker 4: just Blaze right being mayor of for All Nerds or
- 1:39Speaker 4: Joe Illedge. Nah, just top up in a random Oh.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I mean I mean for two hours. I
- 1:47Speaker 3: mean when you talk about for that Yeah, it was
- 1:49Speaker 3: definitely just ba. It's like the most random, you know,
- 1:53Speaker 3: conversations that were also very intellectual and enlightening.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Definitely just place. I'll just talk about the mayor.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I remember when when you were the mayor of was
- 2:00Speaker 3: that thing four square?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Oh my god, I know, throw bad.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I don'tly remember it because somebody brought it up on
- 2:09Speaker 3: Thursday the other day because I was like, oh ship.
- 2:10Speaker 3: People will used to be like, yo, I'm here, here, here,
- 2:12Speaker 3: I'm the mayor.
- 2:13Speaker 4: It used to me that that girl, I ain't gonna
- 2:16Speaker 4: hold you. It used to be that girl. I used
- 2:17Speaker 4: to be mayor of a few places, and you would
- 2:19Speaker 4: battle it out, like somebody take your may of ship
- 2:22Speaker 4: if you just miss a visit or whatever.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I never once thought of it.
- 2:25Speaker 5: I was a school counselor at a private all girls
- 2:28Speaker 5: high school.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:29Speaker 5: A lot of them were posting on four Square. They're
- 2:31Speaker 5: talking about me about like there was creepy dudes ever
- 2:33Speaker 5: popping up. Yeah, because you keep publicly sharing where you're at.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Like yeah, I mean listen, it was all right until
- 2:39Speaker 4: it wasn't.
- 2:41Speaker 2: No, it was never all right. People.
- 2:43Speaker 4: People wasn't doing all that extra stuff until until it
- 2:46Speaker 4: got real popular, and then all of a sudden, the
- 2:48Speaker 4: creatures fucked it up.
- 2:49Speaker 3: So I was like, fuck, yeah. I never was into
- 2:52Speaker 3: telling people where I was at, but I.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Would check it after I had already left, which is
- 2:57Speaker 4: how you're supposed.
- 2:57Speaker 5: To do it.
- 2:58Speaker 2: True.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Indeed, Yeah, I was raised in suburbs where like quite
- 3:01Speaker 5: a few white kids would tell like too much about
- 3:04Speaker 5: what their families were doing, and some of them would
- 3:06Speaker 5: get ribbed during spring break or like the vacation. So
- 3:09Speaker 5: like I was just like, I'm not telling people ship.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Wow, factory five hours ago.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Time to kick in the Dome? No?
- 3:21Speaker 5: Yeah not yeah Lingering right, wasn't the movie about that?
- 3:27Speaker 5: Like it was a real story too, Like that was
- 3:29Speaker 5: about I don't know, Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I know what it was about, but I didn't know
- 3:32Speaker 2: they were for Squaring.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Well, no, they weren't four squarings, but the teens were
- 3:35Speaker 5: basically watching like uh like Perez Hilton and sh like that.
- 3:38Speaker 5: And so when celebrities were on vacation, yeah, like we
- 3:41Speaker 5: just go to Paris Hilton's house, Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 3: And just basically walk in because people leave their house
- 3:47Speaker 3: was open, because you know, they would think, who's no
- 3:49Speaker 3: breaking in that neighborhood?
- 3:50Speaker 2: Wow?
- 3:51Speaker 5: Yeah, teenagers that's who think about it, right?
- 3:54Speaker 2: You know other white people that's who.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Yeah, people with no sense, just like you then going
- 4:02Speaker 3: there with.
- 4:02Speaker 5: His glasses on.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Let me tell you how one time I always talk
- 4:06Speaker 3: about this. I grew up in Houston, and there's this
- 4:08Speaker 3: area of Houston called River Oaks. If you know River Roads,
- 4:10Speaker 3: you know, it's Beverly Hills in Houston. It's outrageous. And
- 4:14Speaker 3: me and my boy were going to a party that
- 4:16Speaker 3: wasn't in River Roads because you know what we'd be
- 4:18Speaker 3: doing going to a party of roads. But I think
- 4:20Speaker 3: we were going through River Roads to get to this party,
- 4:22Speaker 3: and we stopped because of his car might have been
- 4:24Speaker 3: having car trouble or whatever. I mean not thirty seconds
- 4:28Speaker 3: and there was a cop on our ass, like what
- 4:30Speaker 3: are you doing in this neighborhood?
- 4:31Speaker 2: Boy? You know like get on out of here.
- 4:35Speaker 3: So no, yeah, I already know I'm not trying to
- 4:37Speaker 3: break into missus Hilton's house, miss.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Hilton whatever, none of the above.
- 4:43Speaker 3: But this is for all nerds where we're always not
- 4:46Speaker 3: just talking about kit those and beds. You know, sometimes
- 4:49Speaker 3: we talk about geek and pop culture as well, and
- 4:52Speaker 3: we do have mister Brandon American columns here, and since
- 4:57Speaker 3: we don't want to talk about you know, your middle
- 5:00Speaker 3: name too much because it's all trifle the news for.
- 5:02Speaker 4: That America America problem, you know, I'm damn it, I'm
- 5:09Speaker 4: gonna I said, I was just saying a little bit.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I'm gonna say something because I'm gonna post this threat earlier,
- 5:14Speaker 3: and now you know I deleted it before I posted it,
- 5:16Speaker 3: So why not just say it on here?
- 5:20Speaker 2: Yeah, always a good strategy.
- 5:21Speaker 3: You know, less chances of it being like spread around
- 5:24Speaker 3: and somebody showing it in my face later in court.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I'm sure to just play it or use my voice
- 5:30Speaker 2: as AI anyway that'd be.
- 5:32Speaker 5: That would be hilarious if like you got caught up
- 5:34Speaker 5: with some audio they just played episodes of four on
- 5:37Speaker 5: Nerds and you just got your head of your heads.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Like gosh, we'll see the thing that I'm already told
- 5:41Speaker 3: me not to say that, the thing that I've already
- 5:43Speaker 3: accepted is because there's thousands of hours of me talking,
- 5:47Speaker 3: they can make me say whatever I want.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Yep, I mean whatever they want. So I'm already doomed if.
- 5:54Speaker 3: That, you know, being the case, because people aren't gonna
- 5:56Speaker 3: believe me when I say I didn't say that.
- 5:59Speaker 2: They're gonna be like, no.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Ben said that, you know, being you know, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 3: you know, Yeah, that's to be the end of it.
- 6:05Speaker 3: So there's you know, I have no hope already. So
- 6:08Speaker 3: let me just say what I was going to say anyway,
- 6:10Speaker 3: I was gonna say that my thread was what I
- 6:13Speaker 3: was gonna post was I don't think it's possible to
- 6:16Speaker 3: fit some America because I don't think it's broken in
- 6:20Speaker 3: terms of the people who created it. Like in terms
- 6:23Speaker 3: of people who created it, it's working just fine. It's
- 6:25Speaker 3: working to its maximum for that matter. So I don't
- 6:28Speaker 3: think it's possible to fix something that isn't broken. Is
- 6:31Speaker 3: what my thread was going to be about, and why
- 6:35Speaker 3: I'm you know, looking at stradaddling because I don't think
- 6:40Speaker 3: it's possible to fix something that's not broken.
- 6:43Speaker 1: That is the statement in and of itself. I don't
- 6:46Speaker 1: have no notes.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Yeah, we're not gonna let yeah, we're not gonna say hey,
- 6:51Speaker 5: change your mind, man, like, no.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Wrong, because it's not broken.
- 6:58Speaker 3: So you know it's not it'll get better for the
- 7:00Speaker 3: people who made it, you know, for everyone else.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So what about the people who can't leave.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Hunker down an informed community, like because that was my
- 7:11Speaker 3: other option, you know, that was my real and that's
- 7:13Speaker 3: still an option I'm considering because I really do love
- 7:15Speaker 3: my community in Brooklyn. And I just had a recent
- 7:18Speaker 3: experience that we've you know, yet to really talk about.
- 7:20Speaker 3: But this summer I got to visit off Noel Farm
- 7:25Speaker 3: in Vermont for a fellowship, the Better Sales Fellowship.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And so you and I talked about it.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Well, yeah, you and I have definitely talked about it obviously,
- 7:33Speaker 3: you know, and you're born and I will let you know.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And I've talked to a bunch of other fellows. You
- 7:37Speaker 3: might meet some of them this weekend. But we had
- 7:39Speaker 3: a distression about it, and it's very difficult to talk
- 7:42Speaker 3: to people who haven't been there for it, and most
- 7:46Speaker 3: of them haven't. Some of them have significant others they
- 7:49Speaker 3: barely distrusted with. So that's you know, I consider you
- 7:53Speaker 3: a very valued friend for that.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Thanks and sister.
- 7:56Speaker 3: But one thing I definitely am human being to be
- 8:00Speaker 3: more you know, accurate, because that's something else I learned there.
- 8:04Speaker 3: But another thing I've already learned there is the value
- 8:06Speaker 3: of community. I mean extreme What I learned there is
- 8:08Speaker 3: the value of community and how important it is in
- 8:11Speaker 3: situations like this, and how important it's always been to
- 8:15Speaker 3: black people and African people worldwide and indigenous people, et cetera.
- 8:20Speaker 3: You know, people, the people you know, as I would say,
- 8:23Speaker 3: the majority of people on this planet.
- 8:25Speaker 2: You know, as I would say, it's always been very important.
- 8:28Speaker 3: So I would say, just hunker down and you know,
- 8:31Speaker 3: work on your community, because that's something I'm seriously doing.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Even as I'm making plans for Skadetto. I want to
- 8:38Speaker 3: see about getting a because we have a refrigerator a
- 8:42Speaker 3: few blocks down that people can just put food into,
- 8:45Speaker 3: but I want to see about getting one on our corner.
- 8:48Speaker 3: You know.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Things to that nature.
- 8:49Speaker 3: I would love to if I do stay in this house,
- 8:51Speaker 3: I'm going to plant a garden on our roof, you know,
- 8:55Speaker 3: things of that nature. So I would that is My
- 8:58Speaker 3: advice to people is to serious work on your community,
- 9:02Speaker 3: help out ignore the capitalist system as much as possible, Like,
- 9:07Speaker 3: learn to barter and trade with each other, learn to
- 9:10Speaker 3: talk to your neighbors, put down your phone, stop looking
- 9:14Speaker 3: at screens, and talk to people.
- 9:16Speaker 2: All of these things.
- 9:17Speaker 3: So that's the advice I would give right now, and
- 9:19Speaker 3: that's the advice I would give in any situation. That's
- 9:21Speaker 3: how you know we've survived through everything. And I mean
- 9:24Speaker 3: that's just how humanity has survived through everything.
- 9:27Speaker 5: I know about bartering. Man, I play animal crossings, and
- 9:29Speaker 5: my bartering skills are not good.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But animal crossing.
- 9:32Speaker 3: From what I'm saying, it's some ruthless There ain't no
- 9:35Speaker 3: bartering because my man got you.
- 9:37Speaker 2: In like tom Bell, Man, tom Bell got you on
- 9:40Speaker 2: some straight slavery.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I mean yeah, sharecropping, right, Like you had to work
- 9:45Speaker 3: for him and you had to buy stuff from his store, right,
- 9:48Speaker 3: Am I correct?
- 9:48Speaker 2: Right?
- 9:49Speaker 1: He controls the market.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and like he pays you and you buy stuff from.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Him, yes, yes, and the money the bells are his currency,
- 9:57Speaker 4: and you also work for him.
- 9:59Speaker 1: That is kind of share croppers.
- 10:01Speaker 5: You live on this land, right, It's like what a
- 10:04Speaker 5: college professor makes you buy their textbook.
- 10:05Speaker 4: You're like, what, yeah, I did buy a land from
- 10:09Speaker 4: from from tom Nook rather tom Nook, okay.
- 10:12Speaker 3: And yeah, so you're a sharecropper and.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Across a lot of slaves love differentsitions.
- 10:20Speaker 5: Well that's why a lot of people just spend time
- 10:22Speaker 5: fishing and ship. You know, they got they gotta have
- 10:24Speaker 5: some peaceful time away from the slavery.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Because you gonna go fishing by yourself.
- 10:28Speaker 4: It's just a stick on the ground that had.
- 10:31Speaker 2: That is so sad.
- 10:32Speaker 5: They just real quiet.
- 10:34Speaker 3: They know how, they know how slavery based their game is,
- 10:37Speaker 3: so they keep some type of relaxation.
- 10:40Speaker 5: And you know, there's gonna be a game like this
- 10:46Speaker 5: and this is the Sstopian world with living and there's
- 10:48Speaker 5: definite gonna be an RPG at some point where you
- 10:50Speaker 5: were black sharecropper and like your pastime it is just
- 10:53Speaker 5: a road to get some fresh water from the well.
- 10:57Speaker 5: Like that's like that's like a side mission.
- 11:00Speaker 2: You're you're you're taking it easy on America, bro. I
- 11:03Speaker 2: can't believe. I'm sure there already has been.
- 11:06Speaker 3: You know, you're a slave for a day, you know,
- 11:08Speaker 3: video game, but yeah, that is coming.
- 11:11Speaker 2: If not but oh god, if.
- 11:12Speaker 5: There's roots the video game for PS five, I'm gonna
- 11:14Speaker 5: lose my ship.
- 11:15Speaker 3: PS seven definitely let's go back. Yeah, we gotta wait. No,
- 11:21Speaker 3: we got to wait till America fully gets there, you
- 11:23Speaker 3: know what I mean. But let's go back to the Animal
- 11:25Speaker 3: Crossing being a share cropping game, because I'm not.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I'm really mad.
- 11:34Speaker 3: The game is so slavery based that they really had
- 11:36Speaker 3: to give you a time to relax. Do you want
- 11:40Speaker 3: to talk to Stopian? It's right there, that's that. It's
- 11:42Speaker 3: just you know, Stopian, And.
- 11:44Speaker 5: I mean that's all hours right every Dystopian book there's
- 11:46Speaker 5: always like a free period right for people to like decompress,
- 11:50Speaker 5: whether that's like you know, they're doing like exercising, or
- 11:53Speaker 5: they're like allowed to communicate with each other for like
- 11:56Speaker 5: an hour or something that, like whether it's George Orwell
- 11:58Speaker 5: or some other like ship.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Why has nobody talked about this about Animal Crossing? I
- 12:03Speaker 2: know people hate because.
- 12:04Speaker 4: It was an escape, but I will say this, if
- 12:06Speaker 4: you haven't been in your Animal Crossing house in like
- 12:10Speaker 4: a very long time, do you know what happens when
- 12:13Speaker 4: you go back into your house?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Tom whips you.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Jesus don't you lose things?
- 12:20Speaker 4: You get roaches, Yeah, okay, you get roaches, and then
- 12:25Speaker 4: you have to stop out, find and exterminate each and
- 12:28Speaker 4: everyone in roaches, every animal animal across the one you
- 12:34Speaker 4: played during the pandemic. If you like, say, for example,
- 12:37Speaker 4: you know like if I went in my game right now,
- 12:39Speaker 4: you going your game right now. I don't know the
- 12:40Speaker 4: last time you played. I haven't played in years. Go
- 12:43Speaker 4: in your house right now, and anybody listening going, I
- 12:45Speaker 4: know you haven't touched animal cross in a mini Go
- 12:48Speaker 4: into your house right now.
- 12:50Speaker 5: It's gonna be like Resident Evil told be way worse
- 12:55Speaker 5: than that.
- 12:55Speaker 2: For what would be like ghosts and ghoules and gopins
- 12:58Speaker 2: up in there.
- 12:59Speaker 4: Well you want you know something when you step on
- 13:01Speaker 4: the roaches, little ghosts comes the little spirit pops up stuff.
- 13:04Speaker 5: No, like the Luigi mansion Ship.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I would have been a band in my house just
- 13:10Speaker 2: to do that joint.
- 13:11Speaker 5: That's wild. I mean games are really intensity these days.
- 13:14Speaker 5: So I would believe Tatiana because I played I tried
- 13:16Speaker 5: to play in Resident Evil seven, and that's in first person,
- 13:19Speaker 5: like it's the first person.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Oh yes, no, I remember when I sho came out.
- 13:22Speaker 4: I said why the fun would you want to play
- 13:24Speaker 4: that first person?
- 13:26Speaker 5: It was scary, so you can't get out?
- 13:28Speaker 1: Can you get out of that review at all?
- 13:30Speaker 2: Nope?
- 13:31Speaker 5: Nope.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I remember it being that way.
- 13:34Speaker 2: And it ramps up.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Too because it's like vampires and white kens and then
- 13:37Speaker 5: like there's these tall women in this mansion.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's fucking scary. No, Like that's like, there's
- 13:44Speaker 3: this damn I can't remember a name of it. They
- 13:45Speaker 3: may be a sequel for it too, But it was
- 13:46Speaker 3: PS five and you're you play as a woman first person.
- 13:51Speaker 3: It's like you're a tribal indigenous person and the game
- 13:55Speaker 3: deals was like psychosis and other things of that nature.
- 13:58Speaker 3: So there's definitely a lot of ill you know, things
- 14:01Speaker 3: you see and stuff, but the game itself is just
- 14:04Speaker 3: you know. It was one of the first PS five
- 14:05Speaker 3: games where I saw where it just click it there
- 14:07Speaker 3: where it was so beautiful, and I was like, I'm
- 14:11Speaker 3: never you know, I played like, you know, twenty minutes
- 14:13Speaker 3: to the demo or whatever. I'm like, no way, because
- 14:15Speaker 3: this game looks so real and it's about horror and
- 14:18Speaker 3: horrible things happening to this person and his first person.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I'm good. And then they went and made a sequel,
- 14:24Speaker 2: and I've never seen either.
- 14:25Speaker 4: You know, the Harbor ones are usually the most beautiful,
- 14:28Speaker 4: just like.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it was so that was like the way that
- 14:33Speaker 3: woman looked, you know, was so real that it was
- 14:36Speaker 3: scary to me. Like I'm not seen a game other
- 14:39Speaker 3: than like The Last of Us Too, which is another
- 14:42Speaker 3: one I'll never play because I watched the trailer when
- 14:45Speaker 3: they dropped that joint at whatever you know, the big
- 14:48Speaker 3: conference was, and I remember being like, Yo, this is
- 14:51Speaker 3: the most beautiful game I've ever seen it.
- 14:53Speaker 5: I'll never play because it's intense. No, like the first
- 14:57Speaker 5: one gave me anxiety. I remember that it was like,
- 14:59Speaker 5: is this what it is?
- 15:02Speaker 3: Not that like because when you know you're slitting somebody's
- 15:06Speaker 3: throat and it looked nah, man, that was way too much,
- 15:09Speaker 3: way way.
- 15:10Speaker 5: At least if the words The Last of Us Too,
- 15:12Speaker 5: Jesus the least the disturber that you're going to see
- 15:16Speaker 5: in that game, well.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Then yeah, that's why I'll never played, and why I've
- 15:20Speaker 3: never watched anything but the first episode of the second season.
- 15:23Speaker 3: And I'm good kind of like you know, talk town
- 15:26Speaker 3: of saw a movie today that you know, we really
- 15:28Speaker 3: can't talk about just yet. But it's another one I
- 15:31Speaker 3: ain't never gonna see.
- 15:32Speaker 4: I can tell you what I saw, not I saw, No,
- 15:35Speaker 4: I just thought about it, like I don't even know,
- 15:37Speaker 4: so I'm not trying to get in trouble.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was a dark fucking movie.
- 15:40Speaker 6: I'll say that, Yeah, Bargo, Right, Yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Margo.
- 15:46Speaker 4: It was dark as fuck. And you guys will know
- 15:48Speaker 4: as soon as I can't tell.
- 15:51Speaker 5: You, like speaking nature, dark in tone, everything.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Like all of the above, all of the above, all.
- 15:59Speaker 5: Of the a I have a film written for some
- 16:01Speaker 5: like dark movies in the fall, yeah, which is Avatar.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Looks like it's gonna be the darkest one even Definitely
- 16:08Speaker 5: I did a lot of dark tone things.
- 16:10Speaker 4: But you know, I find it interesting because like these
- 16:13Speaker 4: films have been and granted, you know, all the horrible
- 16:16Speaker 4: stuff has happened the last like the extra extra horrible
- 16:19Speaker 4: on top of the horrible has happened the last two
- 16:20Speaker 4: three years. These things are in development for two, three, four,
- 16:24Speaker 4: sometimes more years, so when they're there is in a
- 16:28Speaker 4: different error when they're creating it, and then by the
- 16:30Speaker 4: time and release it, it tends to coincide with what's happening.
- 16:34Speaker 3: But not writers that's the thing. Yeah, writers are usually
- 16:37Speaker 3: reading and when you read, you're gonna you know, see
- 16:40Speaker 3: friends and that's right, anticipate like.
- 16:44Speaker 5: And also the directors too, right, we're talking about like,
- 16:46Speaker 5: you know, upcoming movies with James Cameron, Paul Thomas Anderson,
- 16:49Speaker 5: like rich white guys. Yeah, very specifics have the circle.
- 16:52Speaker 5: So they're hearing things way way ordinary people sorty hearing
- 16:57Speaker 5: things that are already emotion years. Oh, I want to
- 17:00Speaker 5: take a I want to give my take on like
- 17:02Speaker 5: what that's go look like for society. So by the
- 17:04Speaker 5: time they finally get to this thing.
- 17:06Speaker 4: And actually matching up with you know, our imertaining life
- 17:09Speaker 4: type shit.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 3: And then also that's the other thing that we talked about.
- 17:14Speaker 3: We've been talking about a lot on the show recently,
- 17:16Speaker 3: is how a lot of sci fi and fantasy, especially
- 17:19Speaker 3: so fi, because it helps determine the world we live in,
- 17:23Speaker 3: has not been showing hope. And I feel that's a weakness.
- 17:26Speaker 3: And you know, as much as I don't like contributing
- 17:30Speaker 3: things to whiteness, it's yet another weakness of whiteness because
- 17:36Speaker 3: it's a I mean, a lot of writers, for one,
- 17:38Speaker 3: working writers in Hollywood are white males, and a lot
- 17:42Speaker 3: of these white males don't have hope in their own
- 17:45Speaker 3: lives because they tend to be quite self destructive, et cetera.
- 17:49Speaker 2: They got their own issues and they don't know how to.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Look inside and outside of themselves for inspiration, Like you know,
- 18:00Speaker 3: of a spiritual base, I would say, is what made
- 18:02Speaker 3: people not have that inner hope or be able to
- 18:05Speaker 3: see a better future.
- 18:06Speaker 5: To that point, I would also say lack of shame
- 18:08Speaker 5: and like this is that I think, you know, lack
- 18:11Speaker 5: of humility and something like these. You know, I did
- 18:14Speaker 5: a drumk Black History show a few weeks ago and
- 18:16Speaker 5: use him a food and drink and I talked about
- 18:18Speaker 5: Ryan Cooler. So how we started talking about centers Ryan Googler.
- 18:21Speaker 5: I talked about how humil like he showed a like
- 18:23Speaker 5: humility in the press run in regards to like how
- 18:26Speaker 5: much he listens to the black female creatives and how
- 18:30Speaker 5: much he takes like them and like his wife's word
- 18:33Speaker 5: and advice, Like he's not just like, you know, like
- 18:36Speaker 5: most white dudes in Hollywood who are just like my
- 18:38Speaker 5: idea is the best idea debate? That's like why when
- 18:41Speaker 5: you hear other people outside but directors say like, oh, yeah,
- 18:44Speaker 5: this person's really great collaborator and communicator. Blah blah blah.
- 18:47Speaker 5: I take that seriously there, versus a director being like
- 18:49Speaker 5: I listen to everybody, I'm the best, but yeah, like
- 18:54Speaker 5: to to the initial initial talking point, like, yeah, I
- 18:56Speaker 5: definitely think some of these creatives just they have insight
- 18:59Speaker 5: into a world that will never understand, like and like
- 19:02Speaker 5: master level of wealth and access that just like is
- 19:05Speaker 5: so foreign and abstracted, even like the people that like,
- 19:08Speaker 5: you know, writer, you know, writers and creatives on this call,
- 19:11Speaker 5: like I don't even think you can't even imagine the
- 19:13Speaker 5: dark channels that I mean, James Cameron literally made a
- 19:17Speaker 5: ship where he could go to the bottom of the
- 19:19Speaker 5: ocean like no one else had like done the ship before.
- 19:22Speaker 5: That's crazy.
- 19:23Speaker 3: And then you want to talk about you know, hubris
- 19:26Speaker 3: and nihilism that also goes into it as well. What's
- 19:30Speaker 3: his name Joe ez Eras I think it is. He's
- 19:32Speaker 3: the screenwriter of Just Slip My Mind. It's Basic and
- 19:38Speaker 3: se right, Sharon Stone, et cetera. That's Basic and sing
- 19:41Speaker 3: right film.
- 19:42Speaker 1: That's Sharon Stone.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah, he's the screenwriter Basic and see This Man,
- 19:46Speaker 3: Girls and show Girl. Oh my god, no, no, no,
- 19:49Speaker 3: not did he write show Girls, sugarl No, because I
- 19:53Speaker 3: thought that was who.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yet he wrote show Girls. I'm reading it Girls.
- 20:00Speaker 2: One, yeah, Paul, second one. There was a second one,
- 20:06Speaker 2: but that just came up.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Wait wait can we just watch that right now?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Can we just? I wish we could.
- 20:12Speaker 3: But that just came up on threads today and I
- 20:14Speaker 3: didn't know it was real either. Somebody was like, but
- 20:16Speaker 3: show Girls too is even better, and I was like,
- 20:18Speaker 3: I didn't know it was even you know, I'm watching
- 20:21Speaker 3: it tonight. I was sorry, alien Earth, I'm definitely watching
- 20:25Speaker 3: show Girls perfectly.
- 20:27Speaker 2: She's not at it right, I don't think so. All right,
- 20:31Speaker 2: but why you look up that?
- 20:33Speaker 6: Where are you from? Different places? This man so wild?
- 20:37Speaker 6: It is so wild, different places. It was crazy. You
- 20:46Speaker 6: know the sex scene in the pool?
- 20:48Speaker 5: God, was that a poor Yeah it was a pool.
- 20:51Speaker 5: I thought it was a fountain, but yeah.
- 20:53Speaker 3: It looks like a found because they're like up against Yeah. Anyway,
- 20:57Speaker 3: that screen writer was recent paid two million dollars for
- 21:04Speaker 3: de spec script of a Basic Instinct sequel that he
- 21:09Speaker 3: said would destroy wotness. So like, when we that's what
- 21:15Speaker 3: I'm talking about. When we talk about, you know, predictive.
- 21:18Speaker 3: You have to remember these are the type of people
- 21:19Speaker 3: who are in power, who are not only predicting things,
- 21:23Speaker 3: but they're creating themes that lead to the things they
- 21:27Speaker 3: want to see, right right, And so that's what I
- 21:29Speaker 3: was talking about. You know, when we don't have hope
- 21:32Speaker 3: in films and things of that nature, when you have
- 21:34Speaker 3: someone who's actively saying, I want to destroy wokeness with
- 21:37Speaker 3: whatever goofy ass sequel they made to you know, a
- 21:40Speaker 3: thirty forty year old movie that's probably gonna be trashed
- 21:43Speaker 3: in the first place. Secondly, they get two million more
- 21:46Speaker 3: if they even make the damn faith. So this man's
- 21:48Speaker 3: about to make full million, possibly off of this million
- 21:52Speaker 3: off of this movie. And then they want and then
- 21:53Speaker 3: their goal is to destroy the very thing that would
- 21:57Speaker 3: basically save humanity.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Is who's giving you the money?
- 22:02Speaker 2: Studio?
- 22:02Speaker 1: Is that who?
- 22:04Speaker 2: Someone? Who? You know? Also?
- 22:06Speaker 4: I would like to That's what I want. I just
- 22:08Speaker 4: want to know what a source of all this ship is,
- 22:11Speaker 4: you know.
- 22:11Speaker 3: The devil, And by the devil, I means some you know,
- 22:17Speaker 3: living and breathing, you know, possibly you know, allegedly Caucasian male.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Has anybody seen world of the War, War of the World,
- 22:35Speaker 1: the new one.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Our fans have been for Median Poker have been like,
- 22:38Speaker 5: please please review this movie. Wrong break right now.
- 22:40Speaker 4: But man, Brandon, I've seen the stuff I've seen. When
- 22:49Speaker 4: it comes to this, it has a three percent Rotten Tomatoes.
- 22:52Speaker 2: That's better than the zero, which.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Is actually better than a lot of ship on it.
- 22:55Speaker 4: I looked at the list's there's ship.
- 22:57Speaker 2: That's worse, but it had zero for a minute. It did.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm talking about who gave it two tomatoes to
- 23:03Speaker 4: even get to that.
- 23:04Speaker 5: But I'm telling you it's gonna be like, it's gonna
- 23:06Speaker 5: bump up a little bit. It's probably because my co host,
- 23:08Speaker 5: Justin Brown's couldna give it a positive review. Just speak.
- 23:12Speaker 4: I'm hearing from like the worst movie I ever made,
- 23:14Speaker 4: type shit to like it's so bad as good type
- 23:17Speaker 4: shit like.
- 23:17Speaker 1: No, it's nice and it's a nice Cube thing. From
- 23:20Speaker 1: what I've seen, it don't even look so bad is good.
- 23:22Speaker 3: It just looks it's a horrible Amazon commercial. And that's
- 23:27Speaker 3: the most disrespectful and disturbing thing about it.
- 23:30Speaker 5: That's an Amazon movie.
- 23:31Speaker 4: It's an Amazon movie and literally talks about Amazon products
- 23:35Speaker 4: throughout the movie.
- 23:36Speaker 5: I don't know anything about Amazon. Like I stopped watching
- 23:39Speaker 5: Amazon stuff after Invincible, Like I'm just I can't support
- 23:42Speaker 5: the company, right, so I'll just I'll watch the screens
- 23:45Speaker 5: when I get for Invincible season four. But that's it, Like,
- 23:48Speaker 5: so I can't that's Amazon movie, Like that's crazy.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Yeah, now I've been canceled Amazon Prime, so that was
- 23:53Speaker 3: the end of that. But I do know it's an
- 23:55Speaker 3: Amazon movie because at one point to save the world,
- 23:59Speaker 3: I used Toe son daughter. Yeah, Amazon Prime Daughter's boyfriend, Yes,
- 24:08Speaker 3: happens to be an Amazon drone pilot. Yes, so ice
- 24:13Speaker 3: Cube has to go on Amazon though, because the dude
- 24:15Speaker 3: just can't do it without ice Cube actually placing the
- 24:18Speaker 3: ordery so my man can then pilot the drone to
- 24:22Speaker 3: ice Cube with a USB in it.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Mind you, mind you.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Ice Cube has been hacking every three sight unseen throughout
- 24:29Speaker 4: the entire movie, but for Amazon, he has to place
- 24:32Speaker 4: the order like a record person.
- 24:34Speaker 3: And also can't unlock his door at this place because
- 24:37Speaker 3: he's no.
- 24:39Speaker 4: It's like the most wildest thing and it might have
- 24:41Speaker 4: even been shot during pandemic.
- 24:43Speaker 2: It was okay during pandemic, and.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Everything takes place from the viewpoint of his computer screen
- 24:50Speaker 4: and then there's like a you know, two dollars budget
- 24:54Speaker 4: when it comes to the CGI and the effects. Like
- 24:57Speaker 4: I was just a pall. Like I was like, like,
- 25:00Speaker 4: y'all are like did they releases? Because they knew it
- 25:03Speaker 4: was so bad and they wanted to like get popular
- 25:05Speaker 4: off the hype like they thought there was gonna be
- 25:07Speaker 4: a cult classic Like why why bother?
- 25:09Speaker 5: It's possible. I mean it's possible because ice Cube it
- 25:12Speaker 5: doesn't shy away from like you know, terrible row on
- 25:14Speaker 5: ice on Twitter and all that stuff. And yeah, they
- 25:18Speaker 5: probably trying to like do a flip like you know,
- 25:20Speaker 5: the way to B movies sometimes do it or like
- 25:23Speaker 5: you know, people like her, but.
- 25:24Speaker 1: To me knows what it is.
- 25:26Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying like this is this is
- 25:27Speaker 4: odd to me just for it's just like now, are
- 25:31Speaker 4: y'all to high hard in terms of trying to find
- 25:33Speaker 4: a cold classic too?
- 25:34Speaker 3: Like I remember there was this two B show I
- 25:37Speaker 3: think it was that I always wanted to watch that
- 25:39Speaker 3: I never got to see, where this woman had like
- 25:41Speaker 3: a golden arm or something. And I remember seeing the
- 25:44Speaker 3: scene where the doctor was like, you know, I have
- 25:46Speaker 3: to cut it off and she's.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Like no, doctor, I love my gold.
- 25:48Speaker 5: In the arm, and I was like, I just so literal,
- 25:55Speaker 5: so literal. It's like, so you kid on me with
- 25:57Speaker 5: my sister and got her pregnant. But then all so
- 26:01Speaker 5: you've been sleeping with my aunt in the bedroom that
- 26:04Speaker 5: we shared. It's so lately just long diatribes that are
- 26:07Speaker 5: just insane. It's all about cheating. A lot of black
- 26:10Speaker 5: to B movies about cheating.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the white woman they're going on on.
- 26:14Speaker 5: I'm sure. I'm sure white to be movies that were insane.
- 26:18Speaker 5: Oh my god.
- 26:19Speaker 3: I know you had something else to say about c
- 26:21Speaker 3: but you were also talking about how he was trolling
- 26:23Speaker 3: all the time. And you know, remember this is the
- 26:27Speaker 3: man who just recently was like yo, I can't believe
- 26:29Speaker 3: what's happening right now with the government.
- 26:34Speaker 4: I'm tired of these people like living long enough to
- 26:37Speaker 4: see themselves become the villain like.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Legend. You do not.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Understand how much this like, like you know, Cube was
- 26:47Speaker 3: ice Cube.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Everybody's just going off the deep and I'm like, what
- 26:54Speaker 4: the I mean going on?
- 26:55Speaker 2: You running around, you know, in her career with Giant
- 26:58Speaker 2: Dido's on her headlines, even talking about.
- 27:00Speaker 4: That creative side I never saying why are you just
- 27:05Speaker 4: villainizing yourself like this and then just come like are
- 27:08Speaker 4: you okay?
- 27:09Speaker 3: She was already the villain of me. That's Hugh started
- 27:11Speaker 3: off as like, you know, fuck the police. You know,
- 27:14Speaker 3: once upon a time in the projects, like his early albums,
- 27:18Speaker 3: you know, just insane, classic run. That man had a
- 27:22Speaker 3: pure classic hip hop. I mean I'm talking way before
- 27:26Speaker 3: you know we'd be clubbing a trash tube to me,
- 27:28Speaker 3: you know, I'm talking classic. This man was a god
- 27:32Speaker 3: of rap and yeah, and it was him.
- 27:35Speaker 2: And now.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I don't know this man, I don't know who.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I think it started with are We There Yet?
- 27:43Speaker 1: It did start there.
- 27:44Speaker 4: He got that Hollywood money, still borderline himself.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Yeah, but I just blamed that. That's where it starts,
- 27:51Speaker 3: you know, like cause Friday was cool. But when you
- 27:53Speaker 3: start doing are we there yet? Type movies, that's when
- 27:55Speaker 3: it's like, oh no, it's you know.
- 27:57Speaker 5: I played Triple X, State of the Union. There we go,
- 27:59Speaker 5: you right, That's when like things start getting roll. Top
- 28:02Speaker 5: of Survey because I remember I remember Teenager when they
- 28:06Speaker 5: the trailer for it, I was like, wait, wait, so
- 28:08Speaker 5: y'all just going to place Ben Diesel little but notice I.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Asked questions when here did that come out?
- 28:16Speaker 2: Who thought that switch? That's like, there's gotta be I mean,
- 28:22Speaker 2: he's up there with like when.
- 28:24Speaker 5: They switched to Jim Carry with Jamie Kennedy for.
- 28:26Speaker 3: No, wait, okay, that's another one. But we can we
- 28:30Speaker 3: can make a list right here. This might need to
- 28:33Speaker 3: be one of your net and then we can talk
- 28:34Speaker 3: about the show. But this might be another one we
- 28:36Speaker 3: need to talk for your show. When people end the
- 28:41Speaker 3: series franchises, George Pony and Batman is like, you know,
- 28:45Speaker 3: the legendary example. But ice Cube might be up there
- 28:49Speaker 3: for ending the Triple Les franchise. You know, because Vincisa
- 28:53Speaker 3: was rolling strong.
- 28:55Speaker 1: There were a lot of movies before that.
- 28:57Speaker 4: It was.
- 29:00Speaker 5: There's a Triple X movie. Then you know Vin Diesel
- 29:03Speaker 5: was acting all crazy.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Oh came after Yeah, there was a.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Third one after that. Oh they were both in it
- 29:10Speaker 5: with Samuel Jackson. It's no, no, so bad Pops from
- 29:16Speaker 5: the third add it's so yeah, it's everything is crazy,
- 29:23Speaker 5: Like I think. I think because I'm such a fan
- 29:25Speaker 5: of movies, especially like from starting the nineties, like nothing
- 29:29Speaker 5: surprises me anymore.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Like Vin Dison really needed to fast in the furious, like,
- 29:34Speaker 2: have I told?
- 29:35Speaker 5: Have I told the story on this podcast about when
- 29:37Speaker 5: I ran walked by Vin Diese with the Universal Lot.
- 29:39Speaker 5: I was walking like with some other writers for the program.
- 29:42Speaker 5: We were just walking to the gate to get out,
- 29:45Speaker 5: and in front of us ahead is a suv, a
- 29:48Speaker 5: bodyguard looking dude, and then a ball guy talking to
- 29:51Speaker 5: a little white lady that we can see but we
- 29:53Speaker 5: can't see the ball dude from the front. But he
- 29:55Speaker 5: has a fast nine jacket. He's wearing a fast nine
- 29:59Speaker 5: leather jack. He's a ball dead guy. And I'm like,
- 30:02Speaker 5: there's no way this has been Diesel on a Universal
- 30:04Speaker 5: Lot wearing a fast nine jacket. That just be so insane,
- 30:06Speaker 5: Like it's so unnecessary and of course you will get
- 30:09Speaker 5: closer to me here. Hey, you know, I was talking
- 30:11Speaker 5: to the director about fast too, and it's just I'm
- 30:13Speaker 5: just like, God, what.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Do you do?
- 30:17Speaker 5: But you don't need to do this?
- 30:18Speaker 2: They know who you are. No, No, they don't.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Not enough for him, you know, it needs to be
- 30:23Speaker 3: instant when everybody sees him.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, long.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Enough to see yourself come the villain.
- 30:28Speaker 5: I just love that. Every Timeking like it's always talking
- 30:30Speaker 5: about how weird Ben Diesel was like, he's just like
- 30:33Speaker 5: it's an open secret how crazy this guy is. But
- 30:35Speaker 5: no one like like still, I have a friend.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Who used to date Vin Diesel and they were quite upset.
- 30:44Speaker 3: She was proud upset that, uh, he has a twin
- 30:46Speaker 3: brother that he never spoke about.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of people don't know that he has
- 30:49Speaker 5: a brother.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yeah she also has, so she was kind of you know,
- 30:55Speaker 3: like upsetting him for not you know what. Yeah, he's
- 30:59Speaker 3: also to the Dragons role player game, so I always
- 31:02Speaker 3: thought it was school for that. But you know, in
- 31:03Speaker 3: saying for everything else, like I mean this should you play?
- 31:07Speaker 5: Want to speak directer who works with the Diesel and
- 31:10Speaker 5: he said, uh, for this movie called Knock Around Guys,
- 31:13Speaker 5: and Diesel has like a small role in this fucking movie.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 5: He said that Vin Diesel will like go off by
- 31:18Speaker 5: himself and be like I'm just trying to get in
- 31:20Speaker 5: the mindset of a man who everyone knows his name,
- 31:23Speaker 5: Like it so weird. Shit, It's like you you're like
- 31:25Speaker 5: ten pages of the script, Like what do you okay?
- 31:28Speaker 4: I've been Diesel's twin brothers, like the Nigazone version of him, Like.
- 31:33Speaker 1: What I've never looked it's like literally the inverse.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I've known this role, I've known this fact forever, and
- 31:41Speaker 2: I never got hair.
- 31:42Speaker 5: It's been Diesel's real name, Mark Sinclair.
- 31:47Speaker 4: That sucks wild wow, crazy enough, But this is a
- 31:53Speaker 4: great segue because we're talking about all of these bad
- 31:55Speaker 4: movies and you actually have a new live show out
- 32:00Speaker 4: and then tell us about it.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:02Speaker 5: Starting on Thursday, September fourth, I'm starting a new monthly
- 32:04Speaker 5: show called What the Film aka WTF, where I'm just
- 32:08Speaker 5: talking about crazy ass movies, the productions behind them, FuMB
- 32:12Speaker 5: movie at Trivia. We're gonna have some people doing some
- 32:15Speaker 5: movie soundtrack karaoke and stuff. It's just like, you know,
- 32:18Speaker 5: like I want to kind of capitalize on like the
- 32:20Speaker 5: successful format like drum black history and like apply it
- 32:23Speaker 5: to film and television, like cause it's just so much fun.
- 32:26Speaker 5: Like films are universal and stuffy that I think they're
- 32:29Speaker 5: like there's a lot of opportunity to bring people together
- 32:31Speaker 5: in like a fun, positive way, especially like you know,
- 32:35Speaker 5: community spaces. Like you know, we were talking offline about
- 32:38Speaker 5: need for community and stuff like that. So that's what
- 32:39Speaker 5: the basis of What the Film is. Okay, I'm excited
- 32:43Speaker 5: to have you both want to talk about. We haven't
- 32:45Speaker 5: decided on the movie that y'all want to talk about,
- 32:47Speaker 5: but given like what already people have pitched, I'm excited
- 32:50Speaker 5: to get into the nineties because that's gonna be the
- 32:51Speaker 5: first show's theme.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Say what other people will pick?
- 32:55Speaker 5: No, no, no, that's gonna be surprised. You gotta come
- 32:57Speaker 5: through to the show.
- 32:58Speaker 4: So so when we come through, we're not gonna know
- 33:00Speaker 4: or do we get to pick any.
- 33:01Speaker 5: You'll pick your movie. You'll know what the movie is,
- 33:03Speaker 5: but you want to know what the movies the other
- 33:05Speaker 5: guests that they picked got it. I'm doing. I'm doing
- 33:07Speaker 5: a montage of all like the crazy nineties, like teen
- 33:11Speaker 5: movies and just what white kids were able to get
- 33:13Speaker 5: away with in the nineties and how that's like led
- 33:15Speaker 5: to where we are now.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Yeah see, I'm thinking eighties when like weird because a
- 33:22Speaker 3: weird science and can't buy.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Me lover to the eighties.
- 33:24Speaker 5: That's eighties.
- 33:25Speaker 2: What's some nineties ones?
- 33:27Speaker 4: Like what specifically what we just talked about earlier?
- 33:30Speaker 1: Actually I might want to do that one.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Well, I'm talking a lot about like the early like
- 33:33Speaker 5: the mid to early nineteen nineteen. I'm talking like coming
- 33:38Speaker 5: of age, like I'm talking about blank check heavyweights, First Kid,
- 33:45Speaker 5: First Kid, I remember nowhere, I'm talking about unhinged like
- 33:50Speaker 5: young white kids just wow it out movies. Yeah, and
- 33:54Speaker 5: now those kids are older. You know the guy was
- 33:56Speaker 5: in First Kid. He's like a crypto currency pioneer who
- 33:59Speaker 5: likes high own to Puerto Rico, take advantage of tax
- 34:02Speaker 5: and syentis and shit.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Of course he does, of course he does. So how
- 34:06Speaker 1: many shows are you having?
- 34:08Speaker 5: So right now we have September and October books and
- 34:11Speaker 5: then hopefully if things are successful with continue in November December,
- 34:14Speaker 5: and it's just going to constantly change every month to
- 34:15Speaker 5: different themes. Obviously had October will be horror themed and
- 34:19Speaker 5: then November will hopefully be like family film themes and stuff.
- 34:22Speaker 5: So there's a lot you can do there, especially like
- 34:24Speaker 5: with movies like Soap Food and The Family Stone and
- 34:26Speaker 5: stuff like that.
- 34:28Speaker 1: And where where and when?
- 34:30Speaker 5: Yes, Thursday, September fourth at Littlefield in Brooklyn, New York.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Tickets are a buil but proto Blackens dot com for
- 34:36Speaker 5: all you know those tickets and yeah, looking forward to
- 34:39Speaker 5: having me on. We also have Afeir of Eisenberg from
- 34:41Speaker 5: NPR and the Homie Justin Brown from the Media Poker
- 34:44Speaker 5: podcast on Nice.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Oh Yes, what up, Justin?
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 34:48Speaker 1: What the film? W twe s.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so crazy that you mentioned all those movies
- 34:52Speaker 3: and I'm like, where do I mean? I was going
- 34:55Speaker 3: in the movie theater every weekend in the nineties, especially
- 34:58Speaker 3: the early nineties, and I have no idea about it
- 35:00Speaker 3: any of them joints.
- 35:01Speaker 5: Okay, what about obviously, like you know, the big Blockbusters
- 35:04Speaker 5: Independence Day and Been in Black Oh yeah, I mean,
- 35:05Speaker 5: but I had to talk about like I was talking
- 35:07Speaker 5: about the first time seeing Independence Day in the theater opening,
- 35:09Speaker 5: Oh my god, and being like, oh, Will Smith's gonna
- 35:12Speaker 5: be a movie star? Like I remember the audience reaction
- 35:14Speaker 5: like oh this, this motherfucker is gonna blow.
- 35:16Speaker 3: I definitely, yes, I had an Independence Day poster. I
- 35:21Speaker 3: was like, you know, into and just before the film
- 35:24Speaker 3: came out, you know, I was like into theories about
- 35:26Speaker 3: what this movie was gonna be poster everything, Yeah.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Because like this I'm supposed to see that movie.
- 35:31Speaker 3: But the ship had all kinds of designs on the bottom,
- 35:34Speaker 3: so people were like, Oh, it's trying to be like
- 35:36Speaker 3: Egyptian related and this and that, and you know, then
- 35:39Speaker 3: that's just.
- 35:39Speaker 5: The guy that those guys at Stargate, right, yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so there's nuts, Yes it is. Movie Stargate is
- 35:48Speaker 3: definitely nuts. Okay, yeah, but all those I mean like
- 35:51Speaker 3: and then also in the nineties, around that time, I
- 35:53Speaker 3: was really like into you know, I was being a
- 35:56Speaker 3: film door, so I was watching all like independent joints,
- 35:58Speaker 3: and you know, I was heavy and the Reservoir Dogs
- 36:01Speaker 3: when they first dropped, and.
- 36:02Speaker 1: You know the bad nineties movie right, oh.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it makes you more fun. Yeah, I
- 36:09Speaker 5: mean's just so unhing. I mean, does Belly still.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Make the nineties?
- 36:14Speaker 4: This is what when it gets subjective and I'm like,
- 36:16Speaker 4: is it bad or is that just a classic at
- 36:19Speaker 4: that Billy.
- 36:19Speaker 5: Belly nineteen ninety eight, Oh my god, but oh my god,
- 36:23Speaker 5: opening is one of the best open Oh my god
- 36:26Speaker 5: is iconic.
- 36:27Speaker 2: But that's why the movie talk about, sure you don't
- 36:31Speaker 2: eat no.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Books, but if that's the case, then you open up,
- 36:34Speaker 4: you opening up. Cameron's whole catalog paid in full all
- 36:37Speaker 4: this ship.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Oh I mean paid in ful. But that paidful I
- 36:40Speaker 5: think came out in two thousand.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I knew short he was be paid for.
- 36:46Speaker 5: You know, I have a friend named Sid who lives
- 36:48Speaker 5: in Long Island City. He's got like one of those
- 36:50Speaker 5: like nice ass apartments, like those high rises and stuff.
- 36:54Speaker 5: He out of nowhere just has a mural of wood.
- 36:57Speaker 5: Harris Cameron and I forgot the other dude from paid
- 37:02Speaker 5: him full nice and they're just it's on his walls.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Indian dude.
- 37:07Speaker 5: He had no context about the movies, just like yeah,
- 37:09Speaker 5: just really like this art was like, yo, you got
- 37:11Speaker 5: an iconic paid him. Wow, I can't believe.
- 37:16Speaker 2: First movie out. I kind of came, oh my brother brother.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Yeah, first movie out, murk oh Man, I might have
- 37:28Speaker 3: to do Belly. I have like so many Belly stories
- 37:32Speaker 3: because I was you know, and I was like Howard
- 37:34Speaker 3: and we had the bootleg.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Like the Belly Bootleg is.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Complete, not completely different, but as a completely different score.
- 37:41Speaker 3: And the Belly Bootleg is what got me into PJ.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Harvey and Trick.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Well.
- 37:45Speaker 3: I was already in the Tricky but PJ. Harvey I
- 37:47Speaker 3: had no idea about. And the Belly Bootleg has Broken
- 37:51Speaker 3: Homes by PJ. Harvey on it, and it's incredible. And
- 37:54Speaker 3: the movie, yeah, about how far into that movie does
- 37:58Speaker 3: that song play? What do you mean broken Home? It's
- 38:02Speaker 3: a scene where what's the name is walking around oiled
- 38:05Speaker 3: up in the prison.
- 38:06Speaker 5: God, there's so much baby oil on that, but.
- 38:09Speaker 2: It's just shorty what's the you know, uh DM girl,
- 38:13Speaker 2: the one that.
- 38:13Speaker 5: Just keeps Keisha Keisha the way and she's flowed up
- 38:17Speaker 5: the whole movie.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and she's.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Oiled up in prison and they play broken homes over
- 38:22Speaker 3: her scene. But yeah, the music is a bit different
- 38:24Speaker 3: than the Blue Leg. And I watched the Blueleg so
- 38:26Speaker 3: many times before I ever saw the final cut.
- 38:29Speaker 5: The crazy thing about that movie is they've ran out
- 38:31Speaker 5: of money, and it's so plaintly obvious by the time
- 38:33Speaker 5: we get to the end. But it shows times Square
- 38:36Speaker 5: at New Year's Eve. But he's like Africa. I can't
- 38:39Speaker 5: believe what.
- 38:43Speaker 3: I mean, egregious, the fact that this movie goes about it.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Could you chop it up now? Like I'm gonna do it?
- 38:50Speaker 2: Oh no, I mean we're gonna do it live. But
- 38:51Speaker 2: I'm talking about you know, like there's a don't trust me.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I can go on and on about Belly, I can
- 38:56Speaker 3: quote this ship like anyway. But the movie goes from
- 39:00Speaker 3: a couple of drug dealers to a whole conspiracy film
- 39:03Speaker 3: about the president and some other ship.
- 39:05Speaker 5: So it is I don't remember that the church, and.
- 39:08Speaker 3: It is so because it's it's like it's something turns
- 39:11Speaker 3: into hype Williams trying to have a conscience. I guess
- 39:13Speaker 3: about all the nonsense, and he went on screen and.
- 39:17Speaker 5: Because he realized to sell his soul to the double
- 39:19Speaker 5: to get the rest of this movie made Yeah.
- 39:21Speaker 2: I mean he told us so to the devil a
- 39:22Speaker 2: long time before that.
- 39:23Speaker 5: So, I mean in that movie, DMX literally says fuck
- 39:26Speaker 5: a book.
- 39:27Speaker 3: It's the same, No, Shorty can't eat no books. It's
- 39:30Speaker 3: one of my favorite lines of all time. That's exactly yes.
- 39:36Speaker 3: And then when it rains, niggas get wet. I mean no,
- 39:40Speaker 3: I can quote DMX in that movie all day and night.
- 39:43Speaker 3: You want to go home, I'll take you home. Does
- 39:48Speaker 3: every line it's all you want to go.
- 39:54Speaker 5: One of my first meetings with the Malcolm D. Lee
- 39:56Speaker 5: shout to Malcolm Lee and Black Belt Productions, I pitched
- 40:00Speaker 5: maybe Like because I had to pitch a bunch of
- 40:02Speaker 5: ideas to possibly write. I did pitch DMX the story
- 40:06Speaker 5: about DMX in Persone, the FBI agent and what would
- 40:09Speaker 5: have happened if like he actually got away with it
- 40:11Speaker 5: for a little bit, like what kind of things that
- 40:12Speaker 5: he got into? And then but there was like no,
- 40:15Speaker 5: they're there, you know, like it was just a long joke.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Yeah, did you pitch this with a straight face?
- 40:20Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I pitched a lot of the saying stuff. Yeah,
- 40:23Speaker 5: it was great, Like yeah, mediapocoron fans would love all
- 40:26Speaker 5: the stuff I pitched to the studio. They'd be like,
- 40:28Speaker 5: oh he really said Okay.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I used to be the same way in writing rooms.
- 40:32Speaker 3: And then and he pitched me I've always and it
- 40:35Speaker 3: comes from being at Howard. I always tell people that
- 40:36Speaker 3: because I used to tell people like because one at
- 40:39Speaker 3: Howard my name was you know, d just signified or
- 40:41Speaker 3: been I mean, and people would not believe either one.
- 40:44Speaker 3: And then so I would start to tell people my
- 40:46Speaker 3: name was, uh, Scrooge mc duck, and I would just
- 40:50Speaker 3: say it with a straight face and people would believe me.
- 40:54Speaker 1: The top of the delivery.
- 40:55Speaker 2: That's yeah.
- 40:56Speaker 3: Like you know, if you meet someone on Howard's campus
- 40:58Speaker 3: and they don't know you from ship and you telling
- 40:59Speaker 3: me name is Scrooge mc duck with a straight face, people.
- 41:03Speaker 4: I guess that's not what he goes by, because who
- 41:06Speaker 4: am I to say anything to the contrary, I'm like,
- 41:08Speaker 4: I just got here too, I'm just my third day
- 41:10Speaker 4: out here.
- 41:11Speaker 3: So after that, I learned you can pitch things to
- 41:14Speaker 3: anybody if you just say it.
- 41:15Speaker 5: With a f.
- 41:18Speaker 3: My goodness, yo, Scrooge mid Duck and people would be like, okay, Scrooture.
- 41:24Speaker 3: I had to stop myself from crying, like you know, yeah.
- 41:28Speaker 5: But I mean a lot of the stuff, like especially
- 41:30Speaker 5: when it comes to writing anyway, like things change, Yeah,
- 41:34Speaker 5: like somebody just people are excited about, like they're like
- 41:36Speaker 5: a week later, we're gonna we're gonna cut. Oh my god,
- 41:39Speaker 5: who cares if you pitch a bunch of crazy stuff
- 41:41Speaker 5: like worre saying they can say is no, we're just
- 41:43Speaker 5: stare at you blakely yep.
- 41:45Speaker 3: And that's like I said, I always tell people it
- 41:47Speaker 3: goes back to Howard because like when whenever I'm being
- 41:50Speaker 3: rooms and people are like, oh my god, you're so brave.
- 41:52Speaker 2: You're telling all these pitchers and stuff.
- 41:55Speaker 3: And I'm like, I used to walk across the campus
- 41:57Speaker 3: and broad daylight to holler at a shorty you know
- 42:00Speaker 3: what I mean, Like everyone looking at you and you
- 42:03Speaker 3: had to walk up to her cold and be like, hey,
- 42:05Speaker 3: how you doing.
- 42:06Speaker 5: It all in those sunglasses?
- 42:09Speaker 6: Nah, it would have been much easier, like your big daddy,
- 42:14Speaker 6: she can't see me.
- 42:18Speaker 3: If I had these when I was telling people I
- 42:20Speaker 3: was scrowged with duck. Oh my god, it has been over.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Oh.
- 42:24Speaker 5: They would have been ripping you apart. On Facebook. They
- 42:26Speaker 5: would have been like, hey, this is a crazy dude.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Then scrooged with duck with glasses and dreads and these.
- 42:32Speaker 5: I don't know, y'all.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Hey, we didn't have Facebook. Thank god.
- 42:36Speaker 5: He keeps asking me about Marble.
- 42:40Speaker 3: That was the thing I didn't talk about none of
- 42:41Speaker 3: that ship at Howard because it wasn't cool, you know
- 42:43Speaker 3: what I mean?
- 42:44Speaker 5: What did y'all get Facebook?
- 42:46Speaker 1: It was cool when I was there.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Facebook came right when I was leaving high school.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Facebook right when I was leaving it from Facebook.
- 42:54Speaker 5: Did you get access to Facebook and high school or no?
- 42:56Speaker 1: I got I got asked to it when I got
- 42:58Speaker 1: to Howard.
- 42:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I missed.
- 43:00Speaker 1: That because I was one.
- 43:01Speaker 4: Like back in the day when it was just college students,
- 43:04Speaker 4: we were like one. We were probably the one chocolate
- 43:06Speaker 4: Chip cookie school and you know Chip and the cookie,
- 43:09Speaker 4: because I was like, well, the black schools was on there,
- 43:11Speaker 4: but we.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Was on that bitch because honestly, I remember my man
- 43:14Speaker 3: was like, I'm a former black Facebook you know, that
- 43:17Speaker 3: was just playing like he was going to go and
- 43:18Speaker 3: do like that's how early it was, you know, and
- 43:21Speaker 3: I was really like, okay, but I'm about to graduate.
- 43:23Speaker 3: Why would I give a ship about something that for college?
- 43:26Speaker 2: You know.
- 43:26Speaker 3: That's because that's how they opened it up. Yeah, and
- 43:29Speaker 3: then it was like yeah, and then it became you know, worldwide.
- 43:32Speaker 3: At the time, I was like, I don't either way.
- 43:35Speaker 4: And then our moms got on it, and then it
- 43:37Speaker 4: became the dystopian state.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Yeah, because for a while, Facebook was beautiful for a
- 43:42Speaker 3: quick minute, how well, it was beautiful and I'm sorry, sorry,
- 43:50Speaker 3: then we all died. You missed all of that. It's
- 43:52Speaker 3: all out there on the internet.
- 43:55Speaker 5: Facebook when it was exclusive was like pre thanos m.
- 43:58Speaker 2: C u mm hmmm. And then you know, now now
- 44:03Speaker 2: it's pick and choose. You might get a banger, you
- 44:06Speaker 2: might not.
- 44:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you might learn that a lot of your friends
- 44:10Speaker 3: from back then have turned into you know, yeah. I
- 44:15Speaker 3: saw a comedian say that, like, you know, social media
- 44:17Speaker 3: they have different uses, this for this, just for this
- 44:20Speaker 3: and Facebook is for finding out what your.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Friends have turned, you know, conservative, crazy.
- 44:24Speaker 4: Reprobably Oh yeah, yeah, I wouldn't know because I haven't
- 44:26Speaker 4: used Facebook in years.
- 44:28Speaker 5: Years.
- 44:29Speaker 2: We'll go on there years. Why why would I do that?
- 44:33Speaker 3: Just so you can know, Like that's before you get
- 44:35Speaker 3: to Howard homecoming this time you'll be like, oh yeah.
- 44:38Speaker 2: This one.
- 44:39Speaker 1: I don't need to associated with them anyway.
- 44:42Speaker 4: It's like that, like if I haven't associated with you
- 44:44Speaker 4: all this time, basically just like Facebook to me, you know, straight.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Up, And I'll say this on the show. This dude,
- 44:50Speaker 3: I'm not gonna say your name just because anyway, like
- 44:52Speaker 3: I barely knew them at Howard, you know, you one
- 44:55Speaker 3: of them catching and you'd see you know whatever, you know,
- 44:57Speaker 3: like people might be in the party, et cetera. You know,
- 44:59Speaker 3: I'm beating uh woo whoop. The other day, you know,
- 45:03Speaker 3: he came up on my feed Facebook again and he
- 45:06Speaker 3: had a picture with our current mayor hashtag. I like him,
- 45:11Speaker 3: mister MIXI, mister Mixie. My man and him are hugged
- 45:14Speaker 3: up tight. So you know, my man just roasted in
- 45:17Speaker 3: the comments, I mean obviously roasted in the comments, of course,
- 45:22Speaker 3: And I'm roasting him in the comments at one point,
- 45:24Speaker 3: and he's asking me, do you know how to turn off,
- 45:27Speaker 3: you know, the comments so I can just poost a
- 45:29Speaker 3: picture and net him.
- 45:31Speaker 2: I was saying, no, Negro, I don't know how to
- 45:33Speaker 2: turn off ship, but I do know.
- 45:36Speaker 5: While you ask, well, you're asking homies pr team because
- 45:39Speaker 5: I wondering why you're asking me roasted all the time too, Yeah.
- 45:43Speaker 3: And I'm like, no, I don't know how to turn
- 45:45Speaker 3: it off, but I do know how to turn on
- 45:46Speaker 3: me boasting your ass for the dumb ass ship.
- 45:49Speaker 5: Did y'all see did y'all see Adams talking about how
- 45:51Speaker 5: he must be Dominican because every time the Dominicans he
- 45:55Speaker 5: feels part of the community.
- 45:56Speaker 1: So this is over his mouth.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Like he's just, hey, hey, you do not.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Like that, nigga, don't.

- 46:37Speaker 4: with the law enforcement, you know, the alleged alleged Luigi.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Aligi Luigi freedlow my nigga Luigi.
- 46:47Speaker 4: But just the way he was just involved, I'm like,
- 46:51Speaker 4: why is the mayor of New York involved in this?
- 46:53Speaker 1: Like what the do you have to do.
- 46:54Speaker 2: With this my city? That's fine?

- 48:22Speaker 5: you know.
- 48:23Speaker 3: To wrap this up, I recently saw a study they
- 48:26Speaker 3: said that a lot of CEOs of big corporations qualify
- 48:32Speaker 3: for all the things that would label somebody's sociopath.
- 48:35Speaker 2: In real life.
- 48:36Speaker 5: You have to, I think, in order like in order
- 48:39Speaker 5: to be as cut throat as you need to be,
- 48:40Speaker 5: especially in business, and like I used to be not
- 48:42Speaker 5: even thinking like you don't have to be cutthroat to
- 48:45Speaker 5: be in business, especially entertainmently, it's like giving like everything
- 48:48Speaker 5: any business. You know, the writing stuff with Gordon with
- 48:51Speaker 5: drunk black history and stuff. It's like, oh no, even
- 48:53Speaker 5: people you think you can trust, like will screw you.
- 48:56Speaker 5: Wilburt it's oh yeah in business in general, Like I've
- 48:58Speaker 5: talked to so many people who are like and like
- 49:01Speaker 5: big companies and be like, oh yeah, Like the people
- 49:03Speaker 5: I thought we were gonna be my writer or die like
- 49:05Speaker 5: turned against me. Blah blah blah. I literally saw we
- 49:07Speaker 5: work leadership fall apart and they were like as stick
- 49:10Speaker 5: as thieves and ship. I saw that close and personal.
- 49:12Speaker 5: That was crazy.

- 49:17Speaker 3: I mean not ly, you know, like I said, buildia
- 49:20Speaker 3: community of folks, you know what I mean. Don't don't
- 49:22Speaker 3: we focus on this capitalist un you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 49:27Speaker 3: I mean that's very that's the really the biggest problem.
- 49:29Speaker 3: But like I say, people a lot of us too
- 49:32Speaker 3: much want to emulate, you know, this system instead of
- 49:35Speaker 3: getting rid of this system. That's the problem. Like as
- 49:38Speaker 3: much shout out to those brothers who own that clothing line.
- 49:41Speaker 3: This is this is logar. We need more black billionaires
- 49:43Speaker 3: and it's just so like, no, we need no billionaires.
- 49:48Speaker 3: You know, no one ever needs that much money ever
- 49:52Speaker 3: in the story. Yeah, yeah, we need more black community airs.
