- 0:10SPEAKER_00: I get to um meet people and share music in many, many levels and connect with people's hearts and understand also what are their dreams and aspirations.
- 0:22Dayna Roselli: Our new interview from the strip is straight ahead.
- 0:25Sean McAllister: And Vegas goes goo-goo for Gaga.
- 0:28Sean McAllister: Lady Gaga sets the return of her hit show, Jazz and Piano.
- 0:32Sean McAllister: We've got all the details.
- 0:34Dayna Roselli: Plus, we all know that Vegas is a foodies paradise.
- 0:38Dayna Roselli: We sit down with a longtime friend who does deep dives into the culinary scene here in his new podcast.
- 0:44Dayna Roselli: Let's get that wheel going.
- 0:49Sean McAllister: Let's go to Vegas, baby.
- 0:51Sean McAllister: Let's go tonight.
- 0:57Sean McAllister: Welcome to episode 83 of Vegas Revealed.
- 1:00Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister here along with Dana Roselli.
- 1:04Sean McAllister: And uh, Dana, you're calmed down a little bit from a bit of a debacle down on the strip.
- 1:10Dayna Roselli: I guess you could call it that.
- 1:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Sean, I usually go on the strip, I feel like weeknights.
- 1:13Dayna Roselli: Uh-huh.
- 1:14Dayna Roselli: It's been a while since I've actually like hung out at night on the weekends on the Las Vegas strip.
- 1:19Sean McAllister: But you kind of turned into a little bit of a party animal.
- 1:21unknown: I know.
- 1:22Dayna Roselli: I had all sorts of stuff going on last week.
- 1:23Dayna Roselli: Actually, I was there Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night, all different locations.
- 1:28Dayna Roselli: The Wynn, the Cosmopolitan, and then the Venetian.
- 1:31Dayna Roselli: Jeez.
- 1:31Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 1:32Dayna Roselli: But here's the deal: the Wynn has free parking.
- 1:34Dayna Roselli: The Venetian has free parking, but the Cosmopolitan did not on Saturday night.
- 1:39Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 1:39Dayna Roselli: And that's where I got a little huffy on Twitter.
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:42Dayna Roselli: And we're getting lots of responses, lots of favorites and uh retweets and everyone's two cents, so I thought I would address it here on the podcast.
- 1:51Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 1:52Dayna Roselli: I didn't say what hotel I was at on Twitter, but now I just am mentioning it was the Cosmopolitan.
- 1:57Sean McAllister: Because it's Vegas Reveal.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 1:59Dayna Roselli: I was there Saturday night, and yes, Saturday on the strip is very busy.
- 2:03Dayna Roselli: Uh parked.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: I have no problem paying for parking.
- 2:06Dayna Roselli: I get it.
- 2:06Dayna Roselli: Some hotels want to charge for parking.
- 2:09Dayna Roselli: But I was there with six people.
- 2:11Dayna Roselli: There was a dinner.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: The bill was over a thousand dollars plus tip, the whole nine.
- 2:17Dayna Roselli: I go to leave, and then I had to wait 50 minutes just to get out of the parking garage because they were wanted my, you know, my$10 parking charge after we spent over a thousand.
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: And I thought, 50 minutes, this is just a bit extreme, right?
- 2:33Sean McAllister: Because I almost an hour just to wait to get out of the garage.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 2:38Dayna Roselli: And you know, it's because one by one, everyone needs to go through, pay at the thing, the arm has to lift.
- 2:45Dayna Roselli: Sometimes people have trouble paying and they're not taking their credit card.
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: So the whole thing was backed up.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: There's floor after floor.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: It's underground.
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: It's hot in there in the summer, you know.
- 2:55Dayna Roselli: And you know what I was just thinking?
- 2:56Dayna Roselli: Like, these garages were not meant or built for paid parking.
- 3:01Sean McAllister: No, they weren't.
- 3:01Dayna Roselli: And so it's just my frustration came from we need a better plan.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: This was ridiculous.
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: People were frustrated, people were beeping, and 50 minutes went by, and I thought, I don't even know if this is safe, to be honest.
- 3:15Dayna Roselli: Anyway, it had nothing to do because everyone's coming at me on Twitter, well, it's paid parking, that's the world of a big city.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, no, I get that.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna pay for I'm gonna pay to park, you know.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: As I mentioned, we paid a lot of money at a restaurant inside there.
- 3:27Dayna Roselli: And I thought, all this for my$10, there has to be a better system.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: Something that I chimed in with was like, you know, you and I live in uh are from, I should say, New York State, where the New York State throughway is.
- 3:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: And you had mentioned, I had mentioned, first of all, that maybe we could have like an easy pass sim system, and then you were saying, yeah, this works really well on the New York State throughway.
- 3:47Sean McAllister: Well, it does, and just recently, within the the within the past six months or so, the New York State Thruway has gotten rid of toll booths.
- 3:55Sean McAllister: It's a toll road.
- 3:56Sean McAllister: You have to pay to get on and off the throughway and drive all the way across the state.
- 4:00Sean McAllister: And they used to have actual toll booths where you had to stop and pay a person that toll fee.
- 4:06Sean McAllister: Well, they've gotten totally rid of the toll booths, and it's all an electronic automated system now.
- 4:12Sean McAllister: They have this big archway of cameras and sensors that uh span the entire throughway, the highway, and they take pictures of your license plate.
- 4:23Sean McAllister: If you have an Easy Pass transponder in your windshield, they'll scan that, and then your credit card, which is all set up in your Easy Pass system, is just automatically charged.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: Right.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: So I don't know why.
- 4:36Sean McAllister: And if you don't have an Easy Pass transponder, your license plate is caught on camera, and the state will eventually charge you for the toll if you didn't pay for it.
- 4:49Sean McAllister: So I don't understand why that technology can't be used in parking garages.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: I mean, on the throughway, people are going up to 100 miles per hour speeding through there.
- 4:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 4:59Sean McAllister: People aren't going that fast coming out of a parking garage.
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: No, it's like just it should be able to read something and then the arm goes right up so we can keep the flow going.
- 5:07Dayna Roselli: It just ruined my night.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: I had had a nice time, and you know, I just it was like 10 50 that I left.
- 5:12Dayna Roselli: I think I got home at like 12.15.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: Jeez.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: And I was like, this is just not a good system.
- 5:17Dayna Roselli: Uh Friday night I went to the win uh free parking, in and out.
- 5:20Dayna Roselli: I had a pleasant night.
- 5:21Dayna Roselli: Sunday I went to the Venetian.
- 5:23Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 5:23Dayna Roselli: It just makes your experience overall better, you know?
- 5:28Dayna Roselli: And like I understand, I'm not like I'm not like picking on the cosmopolitan, but that's where I happen to be where this happened.
- 5:33Dayna Roselli: It has happened to me many times before in different parking garages.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: Had a couple people chime in and say, somebody said they were leaving the mirage at 3 p.m.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: in the middle of the day on Friday, and it took them 30 minutes to get out of the garage.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: Eventually they just lifted the arm and let everyone drive through because it was such mayhem.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: So we have to come up with a better system.
- 5:50Dayna Roselli: This isn't good business, and I don't think people should have to deal with this.
- 5:54Sean McAllister: Well, and especially now when everything is experience-based.
- 5:59Sean McAllister: I mean, the parking situation, like you said, if they need to have paid parking at their properties, we get it.
- 6:08Sean McAllister: You gotta make your money, whatever.
- 6:10Sean McAllister: Right.
- 6:10Sean McAllister: But at least have a system that doesn't ruin the experience of Las Vegas.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: Because what I said was if somebody suggested to go to dinner there on a Friday or Saturday anytime soon, I this bad experience will say, I'll come up with different ideas.
- 6:24Dayna Roselli: Well, no, why don't we go here?
- 6:26Dayna Roselli: You know?
- 6:26Dayna Roselli: Well, why don't we check out, you know, this over or this, you know, places that I know the parking is just a better situation to try and avoid that again.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: And everyone will say, Well, Uber.
- 6:35Dayna Roselli: Well, no, we can't find an Uber at night.
- 6:37Dayna Roselli: Everyone's canceling.
- 6:38Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:38Dayna Roselli: So I mean, it's like, you know, we have to drive ourselves a lot lately.
- 6:41Dayna Roselli: So anyway, that's my experience.
- 6:43Dayna Roselli: We can go in depth and talk about it forever, but you know, we want to move on because we got a lot to talk about today here on Vegas Reveal.
- 6:50Sean McAllister: So the moral of the story, park at your own risk if you're at a property that makes you pay to be there.
- 6:56Sean McAllister: And you know, I was actually out on the strip also on Friday night over at the Mirage for their aces of comedy series that is ongoing over there.
- 7:07Sean McAllister: Um, we saw Fortune Feemster, who is, you know, she rose to fame uh as one of the sidekicks on Chelsea Lately.
- 7:15Dayna Roselli: Okay, yeah.
- 7:15Sean McAllister: Chelsea Handler's late night show on the e-network.
- 7:18Sean McAllister: And she's gone on to have her own big stand-up career, and she's an actress, she's been in a lot of movies.
- 7:24Sean McAllister: Uh, she was performing along with David Spade.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 7:28Sean McAllister: So we went over there to see that absolutely hilarious show.
- 7:32Sean McAllister: I think Fortune Themster, if you don't, if you're not aware of her, look her up because she is hilariously funny.
- 7:41Sean McAllister: She has a comedy special on Netflix.
- 7:43Sean McAllister: It's called Sweet and Salty.
- 7:45Sean McAllister: Like we were laughing so hard that our faces hurt.
- 7:48Sean McAllister: I had tears rolling down my cheeks from laughing.
- 7:52Sean McAllister: Great time.
- 7:53Sean McAllister: It was a great show.
- 7:54Sean McAllister: And you took in comedy too.
- 7:56Dayna Roselli: I did.
- 7:56Dayna Roselli: When I said I went to the win, I saw my favorite comedian of all time, Sebastian Manaskelko.
- 8:00Dayna Roselli: It's my third time seeing him.
- 8:02Dayna Roselli: I saw him at the Venetian, I saw him at the Coliseum, and now I got to see him at the win, and freaking hilarious.
- 8:08Dayna Roselli: I mean, he is the most brilliant comedian I've ever seen, heard, and I've followed him for years and years and years.
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: The show was great because he had, let me tell you, obviously, a lot of these comedians have great material from the last year and a half.
- 8:22Sean McAllister: Sure do.
- 8:24Dayna Roselli: And he was funny from start to finish.
- 8:26Dayna Roselli: He welcomed us all to the super spreader event, he called it.
- 8:30Dayna Roselli: Because we were all in the theater, you know, and like kind of making light of everything.
- 8:34Dayna Roselli: But uh, it was such a great, great show.
- 8:36Dayna Roselli: Loved it so much.
- 8:37Dayna Roselli: Went to Delilah after for some dinner.
- 8:40Dayna Roselli: Uh I saw Dana White walking by.
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was the win was packed, Sean.
- 8:44Dayna Roselli: Packed.
- 8:45Dayna Roselli: Like it was so busy there.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: Everyone is out.
- 8:48Sean McAllister: And Dana White, head of the UFC here in Las Vegas.
- 8:51Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 8:51Sean McAllister: Really, head of the UFC everywhere.
- 8:53Sean McAllister: Right.
- 8:53Sean McAllister: He just happens to live and work here in Las Vegas.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: Everyone was kind of pointing, like, there's Dana White.
- 8:58Dayna Roselli: But went to Delilah.
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: Quick note, we had talked about Delilah, the Supper Club at the Wynn.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: It's pretty new there in the past.
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: So this time I went a little bit later because we went after the comedy show.
- 9:08Dayna Roselli: So we got there about 9:30, 10.
- 9:11Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 9:11Dayna Roselli: And I just wanted to let everyone know the menu changes over to a late night menu.
- 9:14Dayna Roselli: Keep that in mind.
- 9:16Dayna Roselli: Um, so it's a little bit like cut down.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: And then also it's a little bit louder in there.
- 9:20Dayna Roselli: It was kind of like more of a nightclub vibe.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they had a live performance in there.
- 9:24Dayna Roselli: The music was a bit louder, it was a little bit darker in there.
- 9:27Dayna Roselli: Great night out, but just different vibe the later you go.
- 9:30Dayna Roselli: So keep that in mind.
- 9:30Sean McAllister: That is good to know.
- 9:31Sean McAllister: And especially uh with a paired back menu that's not the same as what they offer for normal dinner hours.
- 9:38Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 9:39Dayna Roselli: And they were, we were like right on the verge, and so something that we wanted on the other menu, like they were like, we are out of that, sorry, you know, because we're moving to the other menu.
- 9:46Dayna Roselli: So keep that in mind.
- 9:47Sean McAllister: Yeah, so call ahead, make sure that your timing works with what your stomach is ready for.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: Um speaking of like kind of a supper club vibe and like the swanky old school Vegas kind of feel, Lady Gaga just announced that she is coming back to Las Vegas with her jazz and piano show, which is just like classic old school glamour, fantastic show.
- 10:17Dayna Roselli: And you've seen it, right?
- 10:18Sean McAllister: I have seen it.
- 10:19Dayna Roselli: Okay, because I haven't seen that one.
- 10:21Dayna Roselli: I saw her other show because she was doing, remember, she was doing like Variety.
- 10:24Dayna Roselli: She was doing a couple of like her show with her pop music.
- 10:26Sean McAllister: Enigma.
- 10:27Dayna Roselli: Enigma.
- 10:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I saw that one.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: That was great.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: And then she was doing jazz and piano and kind of going back and forth.
- 10:33Dayna Roselli: But this one that she's announced in October is gonna be all jazz and piano, right?
- 10:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 10:39Sean McAllister: Yep, so it's essentially uh the last half of October.
- 10:43Sean McAllister: She's doing nine shows of jazz and piano.
- 10:47Sean McAllister: And this show is like um so Lady Gaga, you know, she's known for being outlandish, for the meat dress, for showing up in an egg to an award show.
- 10:58Sean McAllister: You know, crazy stuff, kind of.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: And even during her uh Super Bowl performance, she dove off the top of the stadium and you know what you would expect from Lady Gaga.
- 11:07Dayna Roselli: Right, right, over the top.
- 11:09Sean McAllister: In this show, she is all Hollywood glamour, she has gorgeous dresses, she looks absolutely beautiful, she sings jazz standards, she does incredible, like the Sinatra kind of music, but then she also does really stripped-down versions of her pop music.
- 11:32Sean McAllister: She'll just sit down at the piano and play some really stripped-down versions, which is so cool.
- 11:38Sean McAllister: And I feel like in this show, it really highlights the talent that Lady Gaga has, both vocally and i instrumentally.
- 11:49Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 11:50Dayna Roselli: Because I think you know, with her her pop music, it I don't want to say it's hard.
- 11:54Dayna Roselli: You know it's good, uh, but like the talent comes when you when it kind of slows down a little bit, and like you said, this this kind of version of a singer and songwriter and musician.
- 12:04Sean McAllister: Yes, and she is just so good.
- 12:07Sean McAllister: This style it just highlights all of her talent so perfectly.
- 12:12Sean McAllister: Again, uh Lady Gaga jazz and piano over at the park theater at Park MGM for nine dates, uh, starting October 14th, going through Halloween on October 31st.
- 12:25Sean McAllister: That'll be fun.
- 12:25Sean McAllister: It will be fun.
- 12:26Sean McAllister: I bet all the little monsters will be out that night.
- 12:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and Lady Gaga's in that movie that's coming out called The House of Gucci.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: So I forget when it comes out, but sometime this year, that looks good too.
- 12:36Dayna Roselli: She's really talented.
- 12:37Dayna Roselli: Real quick, wanted to mention Sunday night.
- 12:40Dayna Roselli: I went to a show called The After Party.
- 12:42Dayna Roselli: It was sold out.
- 12:43Dayna Roselli: Some friends were there.
- 12:44Dayna Roselli: They had some extra tickets that were left over and they said wanna come down.
- 12:47Dayna Roselli: This features Nick Carter, Joey Fatone, AJ McLean, and Wanye Morris, all from different boy bands.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: The show was fantastic, okay?
- 12:56Dayna Roselli: It was so much fun.
- 12:58Dayna Roselli: It was packed in there.
- 13:00Dayna Roselli: They just mashed up a bunch of songs.
- 13:02Dayna Roselli: They they did even like they were singing like TV television theme songs.
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: They were coming together for a Backstreet Boy song or a or an in-sync song or a boys to men.
- 13:11Dayna Roselli: Then Coolio came out as like a guest performer and sang Gangster's Paradise.
- 13:16Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was a blast on.
- 13:17Dayna Roselli: So that show's done, but I have a feeling it's gonna be back.
- 13:21Dayna Roselli: It was too popular.
- 13:22Dayna Roselli: They were sold out every single night.
- 13:23Dayna Roselli: I think they did Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
- 13:25Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 13:26Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 13:26Sean McAllister: So And then, of course, the Backstreet Boys are coming back to Planet Hollywood for a Christmas show at the end of the year, which I know a lot of people are excited about.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 13:35Dayna Roselli: I ran into Jeff Timmins from 98 Degrees.
- 13:37Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna give Jeff a little mention here.
- 13:39Sean McAllister: Oh, it's just like a boy band movie.
- 13:42Dayna Roselli: And and he's got a show September 16th with 98 degrees at Mandalay Bay Beach.
- 13:46Dayna Roselli: So um, if you want to see 98 degrees, the boy band thing is, and I'm going to see Debbie Gibson and Joey McIntyre, you are too, you're coming with me on Saturday night.
- 13:53Dayna Roselli: So it's like, you know, all these revivals, but people are loving it so much because it is just fun.
- 13:58Dayna Roselli: You know the music, then they mix in some new stuff, but it's and it's just great.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: I saw some Debbie's costumes that she's gonna be in.
- 14:05Dayna Roselli: It's it's it's just so much fun.
- 14:07Sean McAllister: It is, and it's uh such nostalgic music, too.
- 14:11Sean McAllister: And you mentioned Jeff Timmins, he's been a you know longtime friend of each of us since we've lived here, so we'll need to find a time to sit down and and talk with Jeff.
- 14:22Sean McAllister: Although I know that 98 degrees is just all over the place right now, too.
- 14:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's all right.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: So we'll have to try and pin him down.
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: They're always rising, 98 degrees.
- 14:30Dayna Roselli: Isn't it wasn't that one of their album names?
- 14:32Dayna Roselli: 98 Degrees and Rising.
- 14:33Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 14:36Dayna Roselli: I look forward to 98 degrees in Las Vegas at some point.
- 14:39Dayna Roselli: It's been a long hot summer.
- 14:40Dayna Roselli: 109 today, by the way, everyone.
- 14:42Sean McAllister: I long for the temperatures in the 90s.
- 14:45Sean McAllister: And listen, for people outside of Las Vegas, just taking a little detour here to talk about the temperatures.
- 14:52Sean McAllister: When it hits a hundred or even ninety-eight degrees or ninety-five degrees, it is like the whole world changes.
- 15:02Sean McAllister: You're able to go outside again.
- 15:04Sean McAllister: It's just the right amount of warmth where it makes you feel like just warm.
- 15:09Sean McAllister: Right.
- 15:10Sean McAllister: Instead of like just being in a sauna.
- 15:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's different.
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: It's it really is different.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: It feels like fall.
- 15:18Sean McAllister: People always say they're like, oh, a hundred degrees.
- 15:20Sean McAllister: They're like, oh, a hundred degrees, a hundred and ten degrees.
- 15:23Sean McAllister: What's the difference?
- 15:24Sean McAllister: Well, there's a big difference.
- 15:26Sean McAllister: 100 degrees is really nice, and 90s are even better.
- 15:29Sean McAllister: Tangent over.
- 15:30Dayna Roselli: Okay, love it.
- 15:31Dayna Roselli: Love a good tangent.
- 15:32Dayna Roselli: All right, let's talk about Carlos Santana.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: Uh gosh, legendary guitarist.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: He's back at the House of Blues.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: We had the opportunity to go over to the House of Blues and sit down with him this week.
- 15:42Dayna Roselli: What a pleasure.
- 15:43Dayna Roselli: He's back on stage once again, and this will be his ninth year performing here at the House of Blues.
- 15:50Sean McAllister: And of course, he's performed here in Las Vegas for even longer than that, but really, over at the House of Blues, Carlos Santana has become such a fixture and a fixture here in Las Vegas.
- 16:01Sean McAllister: So it's always great to talk to Carlos Santana.
- 16:04Sean McAllister: Carlos, how are you, man?
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: I'm very grateful and very happy.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: You could go anywhere to have your show here in Las Vegas.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: What do you what do you love about it?
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: The energy, the the dreams, they're very tangible.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: People in all walks of life come here, and sometimes it feels like being in Las Vegas, it's like being in a movie with uh the Avengers, you know, because you have like people who have the superpowers doing this, the Cirque of the Soleil.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, just the Cirque of the Soleil alone, uh it's a whole ocean of artists who are really in shape, you know, and so I it's it's a it's a place where tangible dreams are very tangible and they become um people will their dreams to be here.
- 16:47Sean McAllister: And over the past two years when you haven't been able to be with people in an environment like this and play your music live for people, I mean have there been difficult moments for you as an entertainer, especially given the joy that you bring so many people with your music in a live venue?
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you for asking that.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Uh life is not difficult for me.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Um everywhere I go is home.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: You know, I've been traveling probably since 58, 57.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Uh I've been to Europe since 1970, everywhere.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: So every every city, every nation, everywhere I go, is the same house, just a different room.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: So I'm always happy wherever I go because I get to um meet people and share music and many, many levels, and connect with people's hearts and understand also what are their dreams and aspirations.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Um the reason I'm happy is because I don't see life like an entertainer or or a show business.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: I am like a person that brings living water to people who are really thirsty.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: It's funny, I was chatting with my mother on my way over, and she said, I saw Carlos in Greenwich Village in New York City in the 60s.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: It was the best show.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: And I know I obviously like you said, you've been doing this for so long.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: And Sean was just at the uh preseason Raiders game and you did the halftime show.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: How was that?
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: That was a lot of fun.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: You know, the energy was so incredible to witness um the eyes and the hearts and God bless the Raiders.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: You know, I think the energy that they bring here at Las Vegas um is it's incredible.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Uh so uh especially that mothership that they have, who you know, uh we can go straight from there to Area 51.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: Take me a minute.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: It's like, wait, where?
- 18:42Sean McAllister: Far out of this world experience, right?
- 18:44Sean McAllister: Yes, yes.
- 18:46Sean McAllister: Well, and and talk a little more for people who haven't been here to experience an intimate evening with you at the House of Blues.
- 18:54Sean McAllister: Can you talk to the energy that fills this room and that really makes a connection with everybody that's here?
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Light, spirit, soul.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Those are the main ingredients of your energy and who you are.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: And with that, you can create miracles and blessings.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: When you come to a Santana concert here at the House of the Blues, you're witnessing alchemy, uh, like a shaman creating, conjuring uh elements, nutrients, ingredients, elements that uh make you believe that you also can uh create you know, it's really something when Jesus created uh created a transformation from water to wine, the main transformation is to go from miserable to being happy.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: You know, that's like an alchemy in itself.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: That's what you witness when you come to a Santiana concert because when we play, people laugh and then they cry and they dance all at the same time.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: And you can you can just see them being uh shaking off fear and darkness and worry, resentment, unforgiveness, all that other crap that that is just illusion, and then you remember who you really, really are, which is like purity, innocence and a beam of light.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: I think I think more now than ever, people want that experience, right?
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, don't you think so?
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's just seems like everyone wants to be around people, and everyone says that music is really what's lifting them up right now.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: It's true because music um real music comes straight from the creator through us for you, and it helps you remember that you are immutable and indestructible, you know, not little me, little victim, eh you know, not wretched center, uh no.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: We don't we don't we know remember what Bob Marley says emancipate yourself from mental slavery.
- 20:53Sean McAllister: Well, it it's great to have you back here at the House of Blues, and I I can only imagine the energy that you're going to bring when you finally have all your fans back in this room again.
- 21:04Sean McAllister: Carlos Santana, thank you very much.
- 21:06Sean McAllister: Thank you for being here.
- 21:07Sean McAllister: Peace.
- 21:08Dayna Roselli: He's always so enlightening, Carlos Santana, you know?
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: I know his vibe is so, you know, peace, love, I love it.
- 21:14Sean McAllister: I feel like I'm never on the same plane, though.
- 21:16Dayna Roselli: No, I know.
- 21:16Dayna Roselli: I'm like, I'm trying.
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: I'm trying to get there, Carlos.
- 21:19Sean McAllister: He's like a whole Carlos Santana is a whole nother level, and I'm trying to get there.
- 21:23Dayna Roselli: His shows are at 8 p.m.
- 21:25Dayna Roselli: He started on August 25th, and there's a bunch of dates on the schedule through December.
- 21:30Dayna Roselli: So check out Carlos at the House of Blues Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay.
- 21:34Sean McAllister: So here on Vegas Revealed, we cover a wide variety of things Las Vegas, but mostly entertainment.
- 21:40Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 21:41Dayna Roselli: But you know, along with entertainment comes restaurants, because that's what Vegas is about cocktails, restaurants, and everyone.
- 21:47Dayna Roselli: I think like a major portion of our questions are revolved around where I should go for date night, where I should go when I come into Vegas.
- 21:55Dayna Roselli: It's really unique.
- 21:56Dayna Roselli: I only have three days.
- 21:57Dayna Roselli: So we just thought, you know what?
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: We're here, we're at the In Las Vegas.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: We're at an event and we ran into our buddy Al Mancini.
- 22:04Sean McAllister: And he has a new podcast called Food and Loathing.
- 22:08Sean McAllister: Al, how's it going, man?
- 22:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's doing great.
- 22:10SPEAKER_04: And I'm so happy I ran into you guys here.
- 22:11SPEAKER_04: I'm picking your brain so much on how to do a podcast because you guys are my heroes right now.
- 22:16SPEAKER_04: And every time I listen to what you do and I listen to what I do, I'm like, oh, I gotta learn from them.
- 22:20SPEAKER_04: So I'm just really happy to be here, man.
- 22:22Sean McAllister: Well, if there's anybody that knows the food scene in Las Vegas, it's you.
- 22:27Sean McAllister: So explain to our listeners what your podcast is all about.
- 22:33SPEAKER_04: Well, food and loathing, and of course it's a name as an odd to Hunter S.
- 22:37SPEAKER_04: Thompson because I I love his gonzo style, which is that you just go out and about and you immerse yourself in the scene.
- 22:42SPEAKER_04: So there's a little bit of everything Vegas, but at the heart of it, it's about where you eat and where you drink when you're in Las Vegas.
- 22:48SPEAKER_04: So it's me and Jason Harris, another well-known freelance writer in this town.
- 22:52SPEAKER_04: He's written about food, he's written about music, and he is a great stand-up comedian.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: So every week we start by talking about what restaurants and bars we've been to, and then we have some guests in who are super experts in the field, the top chefs, the top bartenders, and then we dig deep into a topic, and then we cut away, we come back, and then we goof off for a little while longer, you know.
- 23:12SPEAKER_04: But uh, you know, we've only done about eight or nine episodes right now, and I can't even list the number of amazing chefs that we've already had on the show so far.
- 23:20SPEAKER_04: I'm just so blessed that I have a lot of great friends in this town that are willing to come on and talk food with me.
- 23:25SPEAKER_04: So we're just trying to give you guys an idea.
- 23:27SPEAKER_04: I always say that anybody who takes the time to research where they want to eat, I want to be able to tell them a restaurant that's good for them.
- 23:34SPEAKER_04: And I'm not here to tell you only about the snobby places or only about one style of food.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: If you take the time to do a little research, I want to put you in a restaurant where you're gonna have a great time.
- 23:44Dayna Roselli: A lot of times when I go out, it's for a meal, but when you're on vacation, you want to try a little something here, try a little something there.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: And I think listening to a podcast like yours could really give people an idea of where what places to hit up and kind of make a plan and formulate an agenda.
- 23:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I really try to give people something in every price range, in every mindset, for every occasion, whether it's date night or party night, whether it's meet your one night stand night or celebrate your anniversary night, right?
- 24:11SPEAKER_04: I want people to have good a good time because this is a city where you can go to the double-down saloon and have a great time and punk see live punk rock and then go over to Delilah afterwards and you know just feel like you're the great Gatsby.
- 24:24SPEAKER_04: So I want to expose people to every aspect of this city.
- 24:29SPEAKER_04: I moved here 20 years ago thinking it was just gonna be a place that I visited for a year or two, and I fell in love with this town because there's something for everyone here, and that's just my message is I don't care who you are, there's a great restaurant for you.
- 24:42Sean McAllister: And I know that you uh just had a new episode that was all about pizza because people always want to know where is the best pizza and the pizza that tastes like my hometown.
- 24:53Sean McAllister: Uh you dive into that.
- 24:55Sean McAllister: Are there other topics that are kind of like that are based off of the most asked food questions that you get?
- 25:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the center segment of every I mean, first of all, the pizza, that's an episode and a half.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: We actually have a leftovers half episode that drops as well.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Um, because we had so much great material we couldn't fit it in.
- 25:13SPEAKER_04: And who doesn't like leftover pizza, right?
- 25:15SPEAKER_04: Let's be honest.
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: So so that worked for us.
- 25:17SPEAKER_04: But you know, in the middle of each show, we do 20 to 30 minutes on a topic where we take a deep dive, whether it's the state of Italian food in Las Vegas or LGBTQ friendly bars and restaurants in Las Vegas.
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: I mean, just the things that if you guys must know, people call you every day and say, where should I go for this?
- 25:35SPEAKER_04: Where should I go for that?
- 25:36SPEAKER_04: I've got a long list of the questions people ask me, and I'm just trying to answer them one week at a time.
- 25:41Dayna Roselli: Well, and sometimes don't you always feel like living here and working here for so long.
- 25:45Dayna Roselli: We're like, well, who doesn't know that?
- 25:46Dayna Roselli: But they don't know.
- 25:47Dayna Roselli: That's the thing.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: And we are actually providing really good information.
- 25:51Dayna Roselli: Like you said, double down saloon.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: I don't think that a lot of tourists know about it.
- 25:56SPEAKER_04: And I think a lot of locals, because this is such a transient city, people move here, they don't know how long they're gonna live here, they come and go.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: And there are a lot of locals that you remind them about a place.
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: I I wrote an article about it three years ago.
- 26:08SPEAKER_04: Well, I didn't live here three years ago.
- 26:10SPEAKER_04: Well, let me tell you about it again, right?
- 26:12SPEAKER_04: So I don't think you're ever in danger of and also things change really quickly, right?
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: So if I could do the best Italian restaurants this week, and then I come back a year from now, and there are going to be three or four great new ones that we need to talk about.
- 26:25SPEAKER_04: So that's the beauty of covering the scene in Las Vegas.
- 26:28SPEAKER_04: You guys know.
- 26:29SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's always something new, and that's why you you like me are out at multiple places every night.
- 26:35SPEAKER_04: That's why I see and wave to you so often.
- 26:37Sean McAllister: That's why we're here at at Win Las Vegas tasting cocktails today.
- 26:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, taking tasting cocktails in the middle of a Thursday afternoon.
- 26:44SPEAKER_04: It's a rough life.
- 26:46SPEAKER_04: It is rough.
- 26:46Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, we want to have a longer conversation with you at some point, but we wanted to let people know about your podcast because so many people have questions about food, drink when they visit Las Vegas.
- 26:56Dayna Roselli: So please go and listen to Al and his new podcast.
- 27:00Dayna Roselli: And it's on, what is it on right now?
- 27:01Dayna Roselli: Is it on Apple, Spotify, everything?
- 27:03SPEAKER_04: It is on Apple, it's on Spotify, it's on a hundred other services that I can't remember the names of, but my my technical producer Rich says it's on everything.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: It's called Food and Loathing.
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: Just remember Hunter S.
- 27:15SPEAKER_04: Thompson and um, yeah, please, please listen and drop us a line.
- 27:20SPEAKER_04: Let us know what you think about it.
- 27:21Sean McAllister: Food and loathing streaming everywhere.
- 27:23Sean McAllister: El Mancini, thank you.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: Always great to see you, man.
- 27:26Sean McAllister: Great seeing you.
- 27:26Sean McAllister: Thanks so much for the time.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: All right, we're gonna wrap up today.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: We have a certain amount of time every month in our subscription, and you know, this is why your podcast donations help folks.
- 27:38Dayna Roselli: We've done a couple long podcasts this month and we're running out of time.
- 27:42Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 27:43Sean McAllister: And we do have to pay a little extra to get a little extra time so that we can fit everything in that there is to share with all of you.
- 27:51Sean McAllister: So, just as a reminder, we do have a link down in our show notes uh if you do care to donate.
- 27:57Sean McAllister: And thank you so much to the listeners who have.
- 28:00Sean McAllister: It does make a big difference, even a few bucks.
- 28:02Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, we'll take five bucks, two bucks.
- 28:05Sean McAllister: On that note, Captain, how are things looking up front?
- 28:08Sean McAllister: On behalf of the flight crew, thank you for flying with us and have a pleasant day.
- 28:12Sean McAllister: Let's go to the day.
- 28:14Sean McAllister: Let's stay away.
- 28:16Sean McAllister: Let's go to the day, baby.
- 28:18Sean McAllister: Let's go.
