- 0:20Hey, thanks for tuning in. Welcome are those of the
- 0:27speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions
- 0:31of any entities. They represent the web at MB
- 0:35Radio. Dot.
- 0:37What's going on everybody? Welcome to the show Question.
- 0:43Are we using technology to improve our lives or are we
- 0:47slowly surrendering our ability to think?
- 0:54What do y'all think? What do y'all think?
- 0:56You know what I mean? Cause the world is changing, but
- 0:59are we paying attention? Everything around us is changing
- 1:03y'all. Are we paying attention to
- 1:06what's really going on? Welcome to Man talk 133.
- 1:11What men unit. I am the host.
- 1:15Y'all know me, Shaw, Whitaker. And today we're going to talk
- 1:19about some of the day. Y'all is it going to make people
- 1:21think? It's going to really make y'all
- 1:23think we're talking about technology, we're talking about
- 1:28artificial intelligence, AI, we're talking about data
- 1:31centers, we're talking about the Bible, and yes, we're talking
- 1:36about the end times. Y'all, we're going to get into
- 1:40all of that. But before anybody, because I
- 1:43know, I know, I know how this thing goes, y'all before anybody
- 1:51hops out there and before anybody get out there and start
- 1:56saying, hey, I'm putting out these conspiracy theories and
- 2:00all this stuff like that. Before they do that, before
- 2:03y'all do that, Listen, I ain't here.
- 2:09Let me be clear. I ain't here to frighten you.
- 2:12Listen, I ain't here to. I'm just here to make y'all
- 2:15think about what's really going on around us.
- 2:18Because I believe one of the greatest dangers facing our
- 2:25generation isn't simply technology that is getting
- 2:29smarter. I think people may be getting
- 2:34less intentional about how they think, right?
- 2:37So we have smart TV's, we got smartphones, we got smart
- 2:43vehicles, smart homes, and now we got AI, y'all.
- 2:48But here's my question, with all this small technology, why do we
- 2:54struggle to make wise decisions? Why we have access to more
- 3:01information than any generation before us, yet misinformation
- 3:07spreads faster than ever. Or to me, just like soon,
- 3:11somebody to say something, bam, before it, even before people
- 3:14can even confirm it. Guess what folk and all the way
- 3:20to to put out some misinformation.
- 3:22We have more ways to communicate yet people are struggling with
- 3:25loneliness. We have access to thousands of
- 3:29sermons, Bible studies, Christian podcast, yet many
- 3:33believers still struggle to explain what they believe.
- 3:38How? How is that even possible?
- 3:41Y'all How? Maybe because information and
- 3:45transformation are two completely different things.
- 3:49You can download information, but transformation requires
- 3:54something deeper. Romans 12 and two tell us not to
- 3:58be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing
- 4:02of our minds. Notice that scripture doesn't
- 4:06say we are. Excuse me, All doesn't say we
- 4:09are transformed by collect, by collecting information.
- 4:13It says we're transformed by the renewing of our minds.
- 4:17And today I want to ask a difficult question.
- 4:22Who's who's renewing your mind? God's word or the algorithm
- 4:28algorithms on your phone? Because somebody's competing for
- 4:35your attention, somebody's competing for your loyalty,
- 4:39somebody's competing to influence your decisions.
- 4:42Y'all, the question is whether you recognize that competition.
- 4:49You know, I'm saying tonight we're going to talk about these.
- 4:53It's all over the news, y'all. It's all over the news.
- 4:56Tonight. We're going to be talking about
- 4:58massive buildings being constructed around the county.
- 5:02Call the country. I'm sorry, we call data centers,
- 5:05y'all. We're going to talk about data
- 5:07centers. We're going to discuss what they
- 5:09do while companies are investing billions of dollars into them
- 5:13and how technology they support is changing society.
- 5:18Y'all, for real? We're going, we're going to get
- 5:20into that, but we are going to also ask the Christians, shit, I
- 5:29mean, what, what should Christians, what do Christians
- 5:31think about this surveillance and this, this, this artificial
- 5:35intelligence and this digital identity and the properties
- 5:39found, prophecies found in Revelations, y'all, We're going
- 5:45to separate the biblical truth from speculation.
- 5:49We're going to separate technological, technical,
- 5:55logical facts from fear. We're going to get into this
- 5:58tonight, y'all. And most importantly, we're
- 6:00going to talk about spiritual discernment.
- 6:05We got to get into that because everything that is technology,
- 6:09technology, y'all. I can't get the word out.
- 6:12Technology I need. I need my wife to help me with
- 6:15this word technologically possible.
- 6:20It's not necessarily spiritually beneficial, y'all, And
- 6:24everything that is new is not necessarily evil because some
- 6:28people think, some people think that AI causes new is evil.
- 6:35It ain't evil, y'all. It ain't everything that is new.
- 6:42It ain't evil. AI ain't evil.
- 6:44I think. I think AI actually helps more
- 6:48than it hurts. That's my personal opinion on
- 6:51it. I think it helps people do
- 6:53things easier, but I also don't think we should be really
- 6:57dependent on it. You know, I think some people,
- 7:01excuse me y'all, I think some people are really dependent on
- 7:05AI. Don't.
- 7:05I don't think we should be dependent on AI.
- 7:08Although I think AI is one of those things where we can, if we
- 7:13use it the right way, we can grow.
- 7:17So it's been all over the news. Y'all heard about these data
- 7:20centers, right, Right. I know y'all heard about them.
- 7:22They what are exactly data centers and where are why are
- 7:28they, why are they all over the place?
- 7:30Like they, you know, people want them in there areas and stuff
- 7:35like that. A data center, basically this is
- 7:38the definition of a data center. A data center is a facility
- 7:42filled with servers, networking equipment, and systems designed
- 7:47to store, process, and transmit digital information.
- 7:53Think about it. We do everything online.
- 7:58We open Facebook, watch YouTube, check your bank account, order
- 8:03something from Amazon or ask AI, which is chat BT, ChatGPT and
- 8:08other things questions. You know computers somewhere
- 8:14it's processing those requests, right?
- 8:17Y'all y'all y'all know that right?
- 8:19Many of these computers are located in what they call data
- 8:23centers, and these facilities are growing because of our
- 8:27demand for digital services is growing.
- 8:32That's why. That's why basically they're
- 8:36putting up these data centers everywhere.
- 8:38Now, do I agree with them? I'll tell you all about that in
- 8:41a little while. AI, which is artificial
- 8:45intelligence, is particularly important because developing and
- 8:49operating advanced AI models can require enormous computing
- 8:53resources, right? But let me ask you something.
- 8:57Have you ever wonder why companies are willing to spend
- 9:00so much money in these facilities, in these buildings?
- 9:04Have you all ever thought about that?
- 9:08The answer is that digital infrastructure has become
- 9:13essential to modern economies. I'm to my you think of
- 9:19businesses needed, hospitals needed.
- 9:23Think about it, governments needed, financial institutions
- 9:27needed and everyday people depend on it.
- 9:33That's why it's so popular, right.
- 9:36But with this growth comes serious questions, right?
- 9:40I know y'all think yeah, it got to come with some kind of
- 9:42serious questions, right. What is it like this electricity
- 9:46come from the power all these big buildings because you know,
- 9:49if you got a computer, if you if you remember back in the day,
- 9:51they had the old school computers, the, you know, CP us
- 9:56and they burnt a lot of lot of lot of power, right?
- 10:02The room would be hot and it'd be blowing and doing all this
- 10:05other stuff when it was old, right.
- 10:07The old ones, they don't do too much because you know, we own
- 10:10laptops and stuff like that. How much water is needed for
- 10:13cooling? What happens when communities
- 10:16experience pressure on the on their electrical infrastructure
- 10:21because these big buildings, these big pretty buildings, they
- 10:24putting up everywhere. Who benefits economically from
- 10:28these projects and who ultimately controls the
- 10:34information processed through these systems?
- 10:38These are, these are legitimate questions, right?
- 10:40Some y'all will probably want to know and they ain't putting it
- 10:44out on the news. Not conspiracy theories, not
- 10:47paranoia. Legitimate questions about
- 10:51resources, accountability, and power.
- 10:57And here's where the spiritual conversation begins.
- 11:00This where it begins when it's. Excuse me, y'all?
- 11:04When a society becomes deeply dependent on something, that
- 11:09dependency can create vulnerability, right?
- 11:12You think about. You think about when everybody
- 11:16you know, depending on like online paying stuff online,
- 11:20guess what hackers was just were able to hack into it because it
- 11:24created vulnerabilities and people would hack into people's
- 11:28stuff and you know, get the information right.
- 11:31Now, I'm not saying dependence on technologies is is
- 11:35automatically sinful, y'all, That's not what I'm saying.
- 11:39I'm saying we need to recognize the difference between using A2
- 11:45and becoming controlled by our own relationship with that tool.
- 11:50In other words, not let the tool control you, you control it.
- 11:55You know what I'm saying? And sometimes, you know, we, we
- 11:58are, we don't understand how powerful these these tools and
- 12:05things are, right? So we got to start thinking.
- 12:10We got to start thinking like, hey, we got to start thinking
- 12:18that. Excuse me, y'all, I'm sorry.
- 12:23I, I kind of, I'll renew my stuff.
- 12:28I really know my stuff y'all. And I messed around and hit the
- 12:31wrong button and it just took me somewhere where I did not meet
- 12:35the need to be. This is what live radio and
- 12:39stuff doing. You got to be able so the people
- 12:42that want to record and want to do this stuff like this, you got
- 12:44to understand that this is what will happen when you're doing
- 12:48live radio. Live radio it'll cause people to
- 12:52lose a place and you got to be able to understand this is what
- 12:57happened happens doing live radio right?
- 13:01So I'm still trying to find my place because I'm I'm being for
- 13:05real y'all. I hit I hit a button, everything
- 13:07just flew off of it off the screen.
- 13:09Y'all. I don't even know what happened
- 13:12to it. Honestly, I really don't know
- 13:14what happened, so just give me one second y'all I mean this is
- 13:18lives. I mean I can't stop it.
- 13:20It's live, so I need to you know find my information while I'm
- 13:25alive. How everybody doing this evening
- 13:27while I'm finding this out how how's everybody doing hope
- 13:30everybody doing good out there while I continue to look for my
- 13:34information right that just my research just shot off the
- 13:40screen. I don't I don't really know what
- 13:41happened. You know what I'm saying?
- 13:43Like, all right, so I I'm saying we need to recognize the
- 13:50difference between using the tool and becoming controlled by
- 13:54that tool. Y'all, Let me give y'all an
- 13:56example. I'm back on track, y'all.
- 13:59How many people wake up and reach for their phone before
- 14:02they pray? How many?
- 14:06How many people spend an hour scrolling through social media
- 14:10but struggle to spend 10 minutes reading scripture?
- 14:14How many? I know y'all lot of people
- 14:18right? How many people become anxious
- 14:22when their phone battery dies and they can't?
- 14:26They ain't got to actually access to their phone.
- 14:28How many people? How many people do that?
- 14:32You know what I'm saying? Now compare their reaction to
- 14:37what happens when they miss an important prayer or worship
- 14:41session. They I ain't listen.
- 14:46I ain't asking these questions to condemn y'all and make nobody
- 14:49feel bad and none of that. Excuse me, I'm asking because
- 14:54our habits reveal our priorities, right?
- 14:57That's normally what happens. Our habits reveal our priorities
- 15:02and right before before I go to break, I want to say this, Jesus
- 15:05said in Matthew 6 and 21 for where your treasure is, there
- 15:10will your heart be also. So I'm just saying we got to
- 15:14understand that's why our treasure is in these things like
- 15:20our phones and stuff like that. Hey, so I will be right back at
- 15:27the the break if I can find my stuff.
- 15:32Y'all, I'm telling you know what?
- 15:34Will you take some time off? Will you take some time off?
- 15:38This really throw you off? So I apologize y'all for not
- 15:41being off a little bit, but I'm back.
- 15:43We back at it. Be right back after the break
- 15:44y'all. Stats tell that each day 22
- 15:47veterans commit suicide due to PTSD.
- 15:51These stats shook us and urged us to do our part.
- 15:55After hours and hours of thinking, beekeeping for
- 15:58veterans was born. Beekeeping for veterans combines
- 16:02beekeeping with mindfulness meditation.
- 16:05Why combine them? Here's why beekeeping causes
- 16:09positive rush of adrenaline. While beekeeping you have to be
- 16:12calm during it you are mindful of your movements.
- 16:16Each week, a veteran will receive a mindful meditation to
- 16:19build emotional and mental skill sets.
- 16:22Mindfulness is a set of three attentional skills that work
- 16:26together, concentration, sensory clarity and equanimity, mental
- 16:31calmness, composure, evenness of temper.
- 16:34Every time mindfulness is practiced, we build these
- 16:37skills. Beekeeping for veterans not only
- 16:40helps veterans overcome emotional trauma but also aids
- 16:43our environment as without bees there is no food.
- 16:47Come forward. The people who have supported
- 16:49your country now need your support.
- 16:57Military broadcast radio, the station that's giving veterans a
- 17:02voice. Find us on the web at MB Radio
- 17:05dot US. Opinions expressed in this
- 17:07program are those of the speakers and do not necessarily
- 17:12reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent.
- 17:18Welcome back to Man Talk 133 what men and unite.
- 17:25Welcome back to the show y'all this evening.
- 17:27You know what I'm saying? So we're talking about tonight
- 17:30about data centers. We're talking about we're
- 17:33talking about data centers AI and we also talking about end
- 17:41times and stuff like that. So before I went to the break, I
- 17:44was, I read about, I read in Matthew, I think it's Matthew 6
- 17:51and 21. Where it talked about.
- 17:55Where it talked about. Yeah, my bad.
- 18:01Yeah. Well, I talked.
- 18:02We're talking about where your treasure is or where your heart
- 18:06will be also, right. The most times, most times, if
- 18:09we're honest with each other, you know, we will.
- 18:13We will reach for our phone before we even read a scripture
- 18:18or before we pray, before we do anything.
- 18:21And we will make priority is Matthew 6 and 21.
- 18:25And we also will make other things priority other than, you
- 18:30know, reading the word or doing whatever it is.
- 18:33You know, I'm speaking from a Christian perspective, you know
- 18:36what I mean? So that's the perspective I'm
- 18:38speaking from. So other people, you know, they
- 18:40may read whatever they read. I don't know, right?
- 18:43I'm not here to judge all that. So let me ask you, let me ask
- 18:46you, of course, where is your attention?
- 18:50Where your attention at? Where is your time?
- 18:54Where is your trust because of whatever consistently captures
- 19:02your attention can eventually influence your thinking no
- 19:06matter what it is, right? Because the Bible just, it's
- 19:09clear where your treasure is, is where your heart be also.
- 19:12And whatever influences your thinking can influence your
- 19:15behavior. Think about it, y'all, I mean,
- 19:18OK, think about, think about this.
- 19:22I'm asking these questions y'all, I'm asking these
- 19:24questions you know and you can answer.
- 19:27You can answer in the in the in the in the comments.
- 19:31Can you go 7 days without social media?
- 19:35Can you do you do you believe technology is making us more
- 19:41intelligent or more dependent? I'm going to say more dependent
- 19:45because the more people start to understand how AI works and how
- 19:50how it makes things more simple or how they can figure out a
- 19:55ways to kind of scam around through it, the more they figure
- 19:59it out, the more they're going to want to start using it,
- 20:01right? Should communities have more
- 20:04influence over where data centers are built and how they
- 20:09use use resources? Of course I think they should.
- 20:13I wouldn't want to do a data center by my house because what
- 20:16I was going to do is cause electricity and water and all
- 20:19this stuff going to go up because these things require a
- 20:22lot. You know what I'm saying?
- 20:24They're going to require a lot. So hey, go in the depth in the
- 20:27comments section. Y'all, y'all, let me know, you
- 20:29know, tell me why. You know what I'm saying.
- 20:31Just, I mean, honestly, just tell me why, you know what I'm
- 20:35saying? It's technology replacing our
- 20:37dependence on God. Think about it.
- 20:42Now we're going to get into something a little deeper.
- 20:44You know, we're going to get into it 'cause just I want to
- 20:48talk about spiritual dependency verses, you know, data centers.
- 20:52Exodus 20 and three says thou should have no other gods before
- 20:57me. None.
- 20:58No other gods. If you're a Christian, you
- 21:00supposed to believe that, right? You have no other gods before
- 21:03me. When people heard the word
- 21:06idolatry, they often imagine somebody like bound down to a
- 21:10statue or something like that, right?
- 21:12That's that's mostly what they think about.
- 21:16But idolatry can't involve giving something created, the
- 21:21ultimate loyalty and trust that should belong to the creator.
- 21:29You think about that. That's all our our Dollar Tree
- 21:32is. And that brings us to AI
- 21:36autovisual intelligence. AI can write essays.
- 21:40It can answer questions. It can analyze information.
- 21:45It can help create music, images, videos, books, whatever
- 21:52you wanted to create. All you got to do is just take a
- 21:55picture and say hey, create different and it'll create it.
- 21:59But here's the question. Here's the question.
- 22:05Just because AI can produce religious language, does it mean
- 22:10it possess the spiritual understanding?
- 22:15Do you think that AI has? Absolutely yes.
- 22:23Do Some words about faith is not the same, not at all, not at
- 22:31all. Generating a prayer through AI
- 22:35is not the same as praying. It's not because God is going to
- 22:39give you when you're praying, He's going to download to you
- 22:42what he wanted to say. Summarizing scripture is not the
- 22:45same as living in obedience to the scripture and producing a
- 22:50sermon is not the same as being called to preach.
- 22:55Some people think they can go on AI create a sermon or book and
- 23:02that makes them an author. That does not make you a
- 23:05preacher or an author. Now don't get it mixed up.
- 23:10Don't misunderstand what I'm saying.
- 23:12You know, as I said, technology can be extremely helpful.
- 23:16Even in ministry, technology can be like extremely helpful, but I
- 23:21believe it can help us communicate, organize and study
- 23:26and reach people. I do believe that, but it's but,
- 23:31but but that too should never become the ultimate authority
- 23:36over a person's over the person that's using it.
- 23:40Some people let this AI thing take over and run them up do
- 23:47whatever they don't even think for they self no more.
- 23:51You know I I need to figure out how to do a a chat.
- 23:54It used to be YouTube, YouTube you know people used to go to
- 23:57YouTube. Hey YouTube search a video, how
- 24:00do I do XYZ now is AI Hey go to whatever, hey how do I do blah
- 24:05blah blah blah blah in seconds. They got it.
- 24:08You know what I'm saying? Think about Proverbs 3 verse 5
- 24:12and 6, right? Trust in the Lord with all that
- 24:15in heart and lean not to thy own understanding in all thy ways.
- 24:20Acknowledge Him and he shall direct thy paths, right?
- 24:25And think about that. Now imagine if we begin
- 24:28replacing prayer, prayer for prayer, prayerful discernment
- 24:34with whatever and answer appeared on the screen.
- 24:40Think about that. Whatever popped up on the
- 24:44screen, that's what we're going to go with.
- 24:45We ain't going to try to pray and seek none.
- 24:48That what chat said. Chat said I need to do this.
- 24:52That's what I'm going to do. Think about that for once.
- 24:56I really want y'all to think about that for one second.
- 25:00Imagine if we stop examining the scripture for ourselves because
- 25:06a computer could summarize it for us, give you all different
- 25:10type of variations of it and all kind of stuff.
- 25:12Think about that and then some of y'all might say, hey, well
- 25:14shoot, count me in and I ain't got to do much studying.
- 25:20Now imagine if, if, if pastors stop preparing spiritually
- 25:28because the program could generate a sermon in 30 seconds
- 25:33just like that. Don't we got to do no studying
- 25:37none of that don't got to do they don't have to do any of
- 25:40that no more. What would be would that be
- 25:45technology, technological advancement or spiritual
- 25:51negligence? I would say spiritual
- 25:53negligence. That's that's just me.
- 25:55I'm I'm a you study and where the guy you study it, you don't.
- 26:02I mean, you have to do research and you know, net AI so
- 26:05integrated into all the what you call the things is so integrated
- 26:12into everything now that sometimes your answers are going
- 26:16to be through AI. It's just what it is.
- 26:18You just ain't nothing. You can change that, but you
- 26:22shouldn't base everything on that when you're doing your
- 26:24research and whatnot, right? So here's a statement that I
- 26:33want you to remember. AI or artificial intelligence
- 26:39can organize biblical information, but it cannot
- 26:43replace the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a
- 26:48believer. Let me say it again so y'all can
- 26:51really get that and I'm going to get closer to Mike as I can get.
- 26:55AI can organize biblical information, but it cannot
- 27:01replace the work of the Holy Spirit period.
- 27:09The Bible tells us in John first John 41 to test the Spirit by
- 27:15the Spirit. That is a call for discernment.
- 27:21I don't know why I got this coffee.
- 27:23I just started like a couple days ago my badge are sorry, but
- 27:29that's a that's a call for spiritual discernment.
- 27:31It means we shouldn't blindly accept every spiritual claim
- 27:35that we hear. We should seek the Holy Spirit.
- 27:41Think about it. You're accepting every claim
- 27:45that we hear and that claim includes delivered through
- 27:50digital platforms. Think about it.
- 27:54It's through digital platforms. It's nobody's taking and nobody
- 27:59is talking to taking the time. Nobody's taking the time to say
- 28:05I'm a sit down and seek the Holy Spirit on nothing.
- 28:10You know, I'm saying they just, I'm just print it out and preach
- 28:14it. They do a lot, a little bit of
- 28:16yelling, a little bit of spinning around, a little bit of
- 28:19this and that and, you know, look like it's anointing.
- 28:22And the message can sound powerful and, and still be
- 28:26accurate and the video can look convincing and still can be
- 28:30fabricated. A voice can sound like someone
- 28:34you know and still be artificially generated.
- 28:39We got to be careful. We got to have discernment.
- 28:42So how do we respond? How do we respond?
- 28:45We verify the information. You won't just take whatever.
- 28:49We verify that information. We examine Scripture and
- 28:55context. We seek wise counsel.
- 29:00We pray and we we refuse to confuse popularity with truth.
- 29:08That's what we do. A challenging question for
- 29:13pastors, pastors, ministers, teachers, and church leaders.
- 29:22Let me ask y'all something real quick.
- 29:23Let me ask y'all something. If AI can generate a sermon in
- 29:29seconds, what distinguishes a spiritual prepared message from
- 29:35a computer generated speech? Is it the vocabulary and how it
- 29:41is it's done how how I word it? Because you know certain things
- 29:46that AI has a certain cadence. You know what I'm saying that
- 29:49you listen to. Is it the structure in the way
- 29:52you structure your script? I mean your, your sermon.
- 29:56Is it the emotional delivery or is it the preacher preacher's
- 30:01understanding, integrity, prayer and study and commitment to the
- 30:10living word? Which one is it y'all?
- 30:12Now, I said this before and I'm going to say it, you know, I'm
- 30:16going to say it again. You know, I'm not saying pastors
- 30:21and everybody else and people that bring forth the word of God
- 30:24like myself, you know, and other people like my wife and people
- 30:28like that and, and pastors and leaders and all that.
- 30:34I'm not saying a minister cannot use technology assist with the
- 30:37research. I'm saying spiritual leadership
- 30:41requires, requires more. It requires more spiritual it
- 30:48it, it requires more y'all. I'm just saying it's, it's not
- 30:52just something that we can, it's not just something that we can
- 30:59just sit and we can just you know it sometimes, OK, let me
- 31:06say it like this before because I'm up against the break y'all.
- 31:09Let me say it like this. Sometimes we think that we can
- 31:12just whatever our way through like a like message, like if
- 31:23you're a spiritual leader, we feel like we can just hey, I got
- 31:28this, I'm going to do this, I'm going to do that and boom boom,
- 31:31boom and it don't work like that.
- 31:32Y'all. We got to put time in with God
- 31:36y'all period is no question about it.
- 31:39So before I go to the break, y'all, 'cause I'm getting ready
- 31:42to go, I'm getting ready to head to this break.
- 31:44Y'all think about it, leaders, pastors, leaders, think about
- 31:50it. Are we going to let AI be the
- 31:59tool that takes us away from the Holy Spirit or we are we going
- 32:05to, or are we going to use AI as it not like we're supposed to,
- 32:11you know, as a, as a, in a way where it's responsible.
- 32:14Hey, I'll be right back after the break.
- 36:20Military broadcast radio, the station that's giving veterans a

- 36:30expressed in this program are those of the speakers and do not
- 36:33necessarily reflect the views or positions of any entities they
- 36:38represent. Welcome back to man Talk 1/3
- 36:42through me and your name. Don't forget check it out on my
- 36:46check me out on my platforms all over Instagram, Facebook.
- 36:52I heart Dora, don't forget the clothing line Man talk 1 three
- 36:57man talk 133 apparel co.com check it out.
- 37:04So we've been to get into something that's a little bit
- 37:07yeah, little bit out there, right?
- 37:09But we could talk about data centers, digital control and the
- 37:15mark of the beast, right? So let's address something that
- 37:21address the subject some of y'all been waiting on the mark
- 37:26of the beast right found in Revelations chapter 13.
- 37:31Go read it right now Revelations 13 y'all go check it out digital
- 37:39characters, which you know crypto and all that AI we
- 37:43already know about that and biometric identification, which
- 37:47means read your eyes, open up your phone and all that stuff
- 37:49like this. Surveillance and the possibility
- 37:54of a future society in which participation in economic life
- 37:59is controlled through technology, technological
- 38:03systems, right. So before we go any further, I
- 38:10want to establish something the Bible does not mention mention
- 38:16Martin data centers. This this is not in the Bible.
- 38:19I haven't read it in there. It does not identify AI
- 38:24intelligence as the beast, as the mark of the beast.
- 38:27It does not do that. And it does not say that using
- 38:31digital technology means someone has accepted the mark of the
- 38:35beast. I want to be clear on that.
- 38:38I want to be. We got to be clear.
- 38:41I look, we must be careful not to add to the scripture and not
- 38:46to take away from it. The scripture does not say that.
- 38:49OK, I'm just putting it out up front.
- 38:52The scripture does not say that, so don't go back to say it.
- 38:55Man. Talk 133 said, you know, AI and
- 39:00all this stuff is the mark of the beast.
- 39:01That's not what I said. But we can still examine these
- 39:06questions raised by technology, right?
- 39:08Revelations 1316 and 17 describes people receiving a
- 39:13mark and restrictions on buying and selling right.
- 39:17We all you know, if we don't know what go to go to read
- 39:20Revelations 13 that tell you about it right.
- 39:24Excuse me now, precious interpretate interpret this
- 39:30patches different. You know, some some
- 39:34understanding as as as describing as future events.
- 39:37You know others, you know, emphasizing the symbolism of
- 39:42allegiance to worldly powers opposed to God.
- 39:46What do y'all think? What do y'all think?
- 39:48It's sage when if you go when you go read it or if you know
- 39:51about the mark of the beast. What do y'all think?
- 39:53And some understand this patches in relation to both its 1st
- 39:59century setting and broader and broader patterns of opposition
- 40:05of opposition to God, right. We should acknowledge those
- 40:11differences. I'm not saying.
- 40:14Excuse me y'all, I'm not saying that neither one of them is
- 40:18right or wrong, right? But here's what interests me
- 40:25now. Modern technology.
- 40:30Modern technology. Hold on for one second y'all.
- 40:33Give me one, right? I'm struggling with this call
- 40:38but I don't know where it come from.
- 40:39Y'all, I'm sorry. Now, modern technology makes it
- 40:42possible, makes it possible to identify people, process
- 40:48financial transactions, and restrict access to digital
- 40:52services at enormous scales, Right?
- 40:56It does. That is a technological reality.
- 41:02Does that prove Revelation 13 is being fulfilled through today's
- 41:06data centers? Do y'all think that's what that
- 41:10mean? I don't think that's what that
- 41:12mean. That's just me personally that I
- 41:16don't think that's what it mean. But we should discuss at least
- 41:20discuss the ethical implications of, you know, concentrating
- 41:25power over identity, money and information, right?
- 41:31That's what she I would say absolutely yes, we should the
- 41:35issue of control and all that, right?
- 41:38I would say so, so imaginable side with almost every
- 41:47transaction is transaction is digital.
- 41:49Now you think about that everything is almost like that.
- 41:53You can pay your phone cat beside that boop boop and to pay
- 41:57your identification is digital. Your banking is digital.
- 42:03Think about this stuff, right? Just imagine a a world like
- 42:06that. Everything is digital.
- 42:09Your medical records are digital.
- 42:12Your transportation depends on a a a connected on connected
- 42:18systems. You think about all this stuff.
- 42:21Your employment depends on online platforms, which they do.
- 42:24If your stuff ain't done online, you, you might not get paid, you
- 42:28know what I'm saying? And everything is transformed
- 42:33electronically. Now imagine losing access to
- 42:36those systems. How would how would we function?
- 42:42How would the world function? How would we function?
- 42:49I'm just saying, how would you purchase food if you won't put
- 42:52up no cash? How would you receive your
- 42:55paycheck? If it's digital?
- 42:59How? How would you communicate if
- 43:04your phone cell phones off of offline, how would you travel
- 43:08when everything is is done through done digitally, through
- 43:11digital? Think about that.
- 43:17Think about this now, this is not a prediction that you know
- 43:22that a system will inevitably be used for religious persecution.
- 43:26That's not what I'm saying. It's a question about how
- 43:29dependent we are on centralized systems and how it can affect
- 43:34freedom. Think about it.
- 43:37It's a question worth asking regardless of who you are,
- 43:42because think about it, your religious belief, it don't
- 43:45matter. Your skin color don't matter.
- 43:48We do a lot of stuff that's digital, a lot of stuff that's
- 43:51digital. And what if the system go down?
- 43:58If you think about that, the Christian response should not be
- 44:03panic. We shouldn't panic when those
- 44:05things happen. It should be wisdom.
- 44:07How do we work this thing out? Because fear can make people
- 44:11just as vulnerable to manipulation as an ignorance as
- 44:18ingredients can. It can just make you it make
- 44:22people trip out. In other words, because of
- 44:25because of fear. Fear make people do some crazy
- 44:27stuff, right? Second, Timothy one and seven
- 44:31reminds us For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of
- 44:37power and of love and of a sound mind.
- 44:43Sound mind, not a frightened mind y'all, not somebody that's
- 44:48fearful, not a gullible mind, not a mind that believes every
- 44:52viral video that pops out and half of it done by AIA sound
- 44:57mind. So so when somebody tell you
- 45:03that a new data center is secretly fulfilling, obviously
- 45:07ask for evidence. That's wisdom that's show me.
- 45:14Show me when somebody claims a particular technology is the
- 45:18mark of the beast, ask him to do this to demonstrate that claim
- 45:26from Scripture. Show me.
- 45:29I need to see it. I need to see it.
- 45:33Somebody, somebody show that to me.
- 45:35If you said that, if you got that claim, I want to see it.
- 45:40I want somebody tells you that Christians should ignore every
- 45:44concern about surveillance and digital control.
- 45:50Ask whether that position is wise.
- 45:55Ask is that wise? Is what?
- 45:59They don't make sense to me. Why?
- 46:00Why? Why should Christians?
- 46:02They know that. Why?
- 46:06We need to know that stuff too, y'all?
- 46:08As Christians, we got to be wise.
- 46:10We have to be. We do not have to choose between
- 46:15freedom and complacency, y'all. We don't.
- 46:19There's another option. Discernment.
- 46:24Discernment. That's it.
- 46:27Do you believe Christians are discussing modern technology
- 46:32responsibly, or are we allowing fear and speculation to dominate
- 46:39our conversations? I want to hear from y'all in the
- 46:44in the in the comments. Y'all do we?
- 46:47Do we think about it? Do we?
- 46:52Is that what we doing? I don't know.
- 46:56I mean, y'all put y'all comments, y'all answers in the
- 46:58comments. Are algorithms becoming the new
- 47:00authority? Think about it.
- 47:05Or is it, It's something we got to discuss?
- 47:09Y'all algorithms for the people who don't know, excuse me.
- 47:16An algorithm is a set of instructions used by computer
- 47:22systems to process information or make decisions.
- 47:27In other words, when you start watching something, when you
- 47:31start watching something on YouTube or whatever or Facebook,
- 47:36the computer going to start sending that stuff your way.
- 47:39Excuse me, it's going to start sending that stuff your way.
- 47:43That's what we're going to start doing.
- 47:44Online platforms use algorithm for many purposes and can
- 47:49including which content to recommend.
- 47:53If you watching Man Talk 133, which I hope y'all are watching
- 47:58Man Talk 133 with me and Unite on YouTube, they're going to
- 48:02send y'all more content on it. It's going to be recommended.
- 48:09You know what I'm saying? Now think about think about the
- 48:11implications. Two people can open the same
- 48:15social media platform and see completely different versions of
- 48:19the world, totally different versions of the world.
- 48:25One person sees constant political conflict, right?
- 48:30It's what we see. And now, you know, you have
- 48:32different platforms. Fox push one thing, the other
- 48:35one MSNBC and all the others push whatever they push and the
- 48:39other sees conspiracy theories. Another one sees financial
- 48:45success stories, another one sees religious debates, another
- 48:50one sees entertainment. Over time, repeated exposure to
- 48:55certain messages can influence how we understand reality.
- 49:02Like think about it. You got people now that that are
- 49:04believe anything that certain politicians say anything, it
- 49:10don't matter what, because they've been influenced by the
- 49:14algorithm. The algorithm know they're
- 49:16looking at it and they push it straight to them and they just
- 49:20keep eating it, eating it, eating it, eating it, eating it
- 49:23and eating it until they use they lose touch with reality.
- 49:30This is especially important when digital systems prioritize
- 49:35content that keep people in to keep that keeps people engaged.
- 49:39You ever notice you watch one worship song and they just keep
- 49:44sending it. They keep sending.
- 49:46And then sometimes they'll send, you know, some little sliders in
- 49:50there like some, some, you know, conflict and you know, and it
- 49:56and it keeps the people engaged and keep their attention.
- 49:58You're like, I need to see the more that debate that now they
- 50:01got shorts where they're sending shorts and you go look for the
- 50:05whole video. You know what I'm saying?
- 50:08And because you like the, the sensation of it and how you want
- 50:14to just push it. You want to see it.
- 50:17You want to see more of it, more of it, more of it.
- 50:19Fear can attract attention. Conflict can attract attention
- 50:24and controversy can attract attention.
- 50:27This is the reason why when you're looking at social media
- 50:31drama and fights and all this stuff sells.
- 50:34Anytime you talk about some spiritual, excuse me, it rarely
- 50:38gets views like all the other stuff with people fighting and
- 50:41acting crazy because controversy and all this stuff like that
- 50:47attracts people. But what attracts attention does
- 50:53not necessarily is what nourishes people's soul here.
- 50:57Seeing people fight at the convenience store or what does
- 51:01that do for people? Honestly, Philippians four and
- 51:05eight, it instructs the believers us to think about,
- 51:11think on things, are pure, honest, just lovely, worthy of
- 51:16praise. You know, all of this stuff.
- 51:18That's what encourages to do. So here's the challenge.
- 51:22Here's the challenge. Take a serious look at what your
- 51:28social media feeds. You look at your social media
- 51:32feeds. See what it's give me.
- 51:33Does it encourage wisdom? Does it encourage compassion?
- 51:41Does it encourage truth? Or does it constantly provoke
- 51:45anger, comparison, jealousy, and suspicion?
- 51:51What it, what it? Just look at your feet and see
- 51:53what's coming up in it. They'll let you know if you got
- 51:57a lot of controversial stuff. They'll let you know if you're
- 51:59messy or not. Now I'm just playing as you
- 52:02know, if you're messy, you keep getting all that other stuff
- 52:05that you're supposed to get. So we need to understand that
- 52:08protecting our spiritual lives includes being intentional about
- 52:13what we consume. We got to be.
- 52:19We have to be. When we convince, when
- 52:24convenience becomes dependent, y'all, we got to understand.
- 52:30We got to. We got to.
- 52:32Anyway, let me move on. Let me ask another question,
- 52:36y'all. Are we losing the ability to sit
- 52:38quietly? Think about it.
- 52:41Just think about it for a second.
- 52:44We don't like waiting no more. We want everything fast.
- 52:48We don't like silence, we don't like uncertainty.
- 52:55If we have a question, we want an answer now.
- 53:00That's why ChatGPT is so popular right now.
- 53:03Because you can put in a question less than 30 seconds,
- 53:06you got your answer. And the 9th time I know little
- 53:09bitty answer, I'm talking about a fool answer, almost an essay
- 53:13answer. If we feel bored, we reach for
- 53:18entertainment. We can't.
- 53:19We got to watch TV or some phone or something, but we feel
- 53:22uncomfortable. We look for distractions.
- 53:27Think about that. But spiritual growth often
- 53:31requires patience, prayer, prayer, our prayer.
- 53:36When we pray it requires attention meditation on
- 53:40Scripture, which requires reflection or everything so
- 53:45quick healthy relations require presence got to be around each
- 53:50other. If you want a relationship with
- 53:52the Lord, you got to spend time with him and in this presence.
- 53:56Now I know for people that that are not Christians and when we
- 54:02say hey you spend time in his presence, it sounds weird like a
- 54:06way how you going to spend time with somebody you don't see.
- 54:09The same time you spend time with the devil when he talking
- 54:11to you and saying old crazy stuff to you and you go act on
- 54:14it same the same way you act on that spirit.
- 54:18It's the same way Christians can sit in the presence of the Lord
- 54:23and listen to him tell themselves the same way you can
- 54:25sit in the spirit of the devil and let him tell you something,
- 54:28you go act on it. Same thing y'all.
- 54:34And wisdom often develops through experiences that cannot
- 54:38be rushed. You cannot rush.
- 54:41You can try it, but I'm telling you right now it does not work.
- 54:47Psalms 46 and 10 says be still and know that I'm God be still.
- 54:56Be still now that's difficult for a generation surrounded by
- 55:01notification, their phone go up thing thing thing all day long.
- 55:07They got to reach for it. Excuse me, I got to reach for it
- 55:09got to reach for it got to reach for it.
- 55:13So maybe one of the greatest spiritual disciplines that we
- 55:15need to we need to recover is the ability to be still without
- 55:22reaching for a screen. A challenge to me, men, I know,
- 55:32I thought, I know y'all though, but it's man talk y'all.
- 55:35So it's man talk 133. So I got to throw something
- 55:39there for the men. I want to speak directly to
- 55:43y'all for a moment before I get out of here.
- 55:46We talk about leadership, we talk about protecting our
- 55:50families, we talk about responsibility.
- 55:54Well, how can we lead effectively?
- 55:56Effectively, and we are constantly distracted.
- 56:01How? How can we teach our tears and
- 56:05discernment if we believe everything we see on the screen?
- 56:10You got some folk and I ain't knocking none of the people
- 56:12that's doing this. You got some folk that's 4050
- 56:17years old still believe wrestling is real.
- 56:20You got some folk that's 30 years old, 40 years old, still
- 56:25believe in Santa Claus. I'm just like how?
- 56:33How can you teach your tear and discernment when you telling
- 56:35them Santa Claus is it going to come down to chimney?
- 56:38And the kids don't really understand that they ain't got
- 56:41no chimney. So how does Santa Claus going to
- 56:43come down to chimney and you ain't got no chimney on your
- 56:45house. What if you stay in the
- 56:48apartment? How does Santa Claus going to
- 56:50come down to chimney in the apartment?
- 56:55Stop doing that, y'all. How can we encourage spiritual
- 56:57maturity if we never createspace for prayer, reflection, and
- 57:02meaningful conversation? Tell me leadership requires
- 57:06intentionality. You got to be intentional and
- 57:09spiritual leadership begins with personal accountability, y'all.
- 57:14That's what it begins with. So before I get out of here, we
- 57:20got to examine we, we, we got to examine our habits.
- 57:26We can establish boundaries. We can teach our families to
- 57:30question what they see. Don't believe everything you
- 57:33see, because we can teach independent thinking, not
- 57:39ChatGPT and all this stuff. And we can make sure that
- 57:43technology remains A servant rather than becoming our master.
- 57:49So before I get out of here, y'all listen for the next 7
- 57:55days, I want you to try something.
- 58:00Spend your first 15 minutes awake without social media.
- 58:04Read scripture, pray, reflect, write down something you
- 58:12grateful for. Then ask yourself whether you're
- 58:19beginning the day differently changes your mindset.
- 58:24Ask yourself with me change is starting to date differently.
- 58:27My mindset change. Just don't talk about the
