Transcript
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, welcome to Pink Shade. It is Thursday, so
- 0:17Speaker 1: we're going to talk about pop culture and Bravo. And
- 0:19Speaker 1: I've got an expert today. His name is Jason Zephyr.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I'm I saying that right. You're saying that right, Okay,
- 0:26Speaker 1: Jason Zephyr, and he is a pop culture expert and
- 0:30Speaker 1: a Bravo expert.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I would say, yes, definitely. I love Bravo. Real Housewives
- 0:36Speaker 2: of New York City is not only one of my
- 0:39Speaker 2: favorite Bravo shows, are my favorite housewife entry into the franchise,
- 0:43Speaker 2: but it's one of my favorite all time shows. It's
- 0:46Speaker 2: a comfort watch if I'm ever homesick, I am putting
- 0:49Speaker 2: on like season six of Real Housewives of New York.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Do you live in New York?
- 0:55Speaker 2: I do live in New York. I've been here for
- 0:57Speaker 2: like twenty years.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay. Now you are also a writer.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I am a writer.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Yes, You've written a really good book called Zombies of
- 1:08Speaker 1: the Upper east Side. Okay, tell me about this book
- 1:11Speaker 1: because it's like a campy It's like a take on
- 1:16Speaker 1: these like Upper east Side like fancy ladies, but then
- 1:18Speaker 1: there's like a zombie apocalypse.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yeah. So it's it's a horror comedy. It's definitely campy
- 1:25Speaker 2: in all the best ways. I really lean into that. Yeah,
- 1:29Speaker 2: it's a it's about an Upper east Side lady. Her
- 1:32Speaker 2: name is Charmaine Starling. She's kind of a typical kind
- 1:36Speaker 2: of society lady. She married into a lot of money,
- 1:41Speaker 2: but she's going through divorce. Her husband cheated on her.
- 1:44Speaker 2: He's like he has separated. He's holed up in a
- 1:48Speaker 2: suite of rooms at the Carl Hotel with his mistress.
- 1:51Speaker 2: With his mistress, and so they're going through a divorce.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You know, she didn't have any money in the beginning,
- 1:57Speaker 2: so it was all him and his family land. So
- 2:00Speaker 2: now they're trying to make sure that she doesn't leave
- 2:03Speaker 2: the marriage with anything. So she also has like that
- 2:06Speaker 2: stink on her of she's gonna be broke. So yes,
- 2:10Speaker 2: So all the Upper east Side lady, she's a little
- 2:12Speaker 2: bit of a priya. Now, Now, if that wasn't bad enough,
- 2:16Speaker 2: if she wasn't already just stressed out about not, you know,
- 2:19Speaker 2: leaving her marriage with nothing and maybe going back to Yonkers,
- 2:23Speaker 2: which is where she was originally from, God forbid, If
- 2:27Speaker 2: that wasn't bad enough, the Upper East side is painted
- 2:30Speaker 2: as a place where all kinds of weird stuff can happen,
- 2:33Speaker 2: because it is a little bit of a weird place.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I think it has the highest propensity or or population
- 2:40Speaker 2: of billionaires per capitist square mile than anywhere else in
- 2:43Speaker 2: the world, so it's a very Yeah, so it's a
- 2:46Speaker 2: very There's also like Park Avenue is like Billionaires Row,
- 2:50Speaker 2: so it's like the highest number of billionaires to exist
- 2:53Speaker 2: anywhere in the world and like such a small place. Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So if all that wasn't bad enough, there's some weird
- 3:01Speaker 2: things going on in the background. In the first half
- 3:04Speaker 2: of the book, people are getting sick, there's like a
- 3:08Speaker 2: another sort of illness going on, bodies are missing from
- 3:12Speaker 2: the morgue, and then like in the middle of it,
- 3:14Speaker 2: she wakes up and it's a full on zombie apocalypse.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So it's kind of funny watching these kinds of ladies
- 3:20Speaker 2: kind of like fight against you know, the zombies, and
- 3:24Speaker 2: they're a little bit scrappier than you would think.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Well, isn't that always the case with our housewives?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Right? Yes?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Yeah, And there's a character in the book whose name
- 3:35Speaker 1: is oddly enough, Margot Pain, not to be confused with
- 3:38Speaker 1: Mary Pain. But as I read the book, I was like, no,
- 3:41Speaker 1: wait a minute, I don't want my name to be
- 3:44Speaker 1: so closely associated with this guta rat lady. Ah.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Well, the interesting thing about that character in particular, like
- 3:52Speaker 2: she is her. So her name is Margot Pain. She
- 3:57Speaker 2: was married to a doctor, she divorced. She's sort of
- 4:00Speaker 2: of like a warning to what could happen to Charmaine.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Now what's interesting about that character they called they call
- 4:08Speaker 2: her the Upper Upper east Side spit Her, And that's
- 4:12Speaker 2: based on a real person. There was a real person
- 4:15Speaker 2: on the Upper east Side who was with her shopping carts.
- 4:18Speaker 2: She was unhoused individual, and they ended up finding and
- 4:22Speaker 2: she would like spit on children or you know, sort
- 4:27Speaker 2: of like young upstarts. She was not a happy lady. Wow.
- 4:31Speaker 2: And then they ended up finding out that she, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 2: she was divorced and she had had a lot of
- 4:35Speaker 2: money at one point. So I sort of, you know,
- 4:38Speaker 2: it's a minor character in the story. But I when
- 4:42Speaker 2: I was writing the book, I read and I watched
- 4:46Speaker 2: everything to do with the Upper east Side. So I
- 4:48Speaker 2: tried to absorb as much as I could. And I
- 4:51Speaker 2: had heard that story and I just wanted to incorporate
- 4:54Speaker 2: it in some way into the book.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Okay. Well, it unfortunately is very close to my name,
- 4:58Speaker 1: but that's okay. You didn't know me at the time.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So and I love I love the name Pain too,
- 5:05Speaker 2: you know, because it can mean so many things, and
- 5:08Speaker 2: it can be taken literally not literally, like I I
- 5:11Speaker 2: really like it.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Well, it's a family name and in my family obviously
- 5:16Speaker 1: that's why I've got it. But you know, there's there's
- 5:19Speaker 1: Payne Stewart, There's uh it was a famous golfer. There's
- 5:23Speaker 1: Payne Lindsay who's a famous podcaster. And I have a
- 5:26Speaker 1: nephew that said his next child he wants to send
- 5:28Speaker 1: the child Pain as a boy. And I was like,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'm here to tell you it's going.
- 5:32Speaker 2: To be rough.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, rough, it'll be rough to have that name, but
- 5:35Speaker 1: go go for it, go for it.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Okay. Now you have got a very popular Instagram. I'm
- 5:42Speaker 1: always obsessed with people who get like a huge following
- 5:45Speaker 1: on Instagram because I'm out here, like hour myself out
- 5:47Speaker 1: for every follower.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I'm proud. I feel like I'm in that
- 5:52Speaker 2: in that sort of box. Now because a lot of
- 5:54Speaker 2: things have changed over the last few months, when they
- 5:57Speaker 2: had that big purge, I lost I don't know a
- 6:00Speaker 2: crazy amount, but like a thousand followers, and my growth
- 6:03Speaker 2: sort of stopped, and it stopped right when I was
- 6:05Speaker 2: launching the book. So that wasn't That wasn't great, but
- 6:09Speaker 2: it's okay. I still have a lot of followers. I
- 6:12Speaker 2: got those because I do things like right now, I'm
- 6:15Speaker 2: doing one hundred days of Buffy because I love Buffy
- 6:18Speaker 2: Vampire Slayer and I was devastated when Hulu canceled the reboot. Yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 2: so I do things like that. I've had like Martha
- 6:27Speaker 2: Mondays where I do some sort of post about Martha
- 6:30Speaker 2: Stewart because I love her, funny Lady Friday because I
- 6:34Speaker 2: love funny women. They're probably the people that have inspired
- 6:37Speaker 2: me the most of anybody. Yeah, so things like that,
- 6:41Speaker 2: And oh also, I think it's and I just literally
- 6:46Speaker 2: saw this yesterday, so it's like fresh in my mind.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Every so often, somebody pops up and I'm like, wait,
- 6:52Speaker 2: they follow me. So yesterday it was Wendy McClendon Covey
- 6:56Speaker 2: follows me. I'm like, what when did that happen? I
- 7:00Speaker 2: love her, I love her so much.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I love her. Yeah, that's cool. Now. Sonia Morgan commented
- 7:10Speaker 1: on your book does she follow you?
- 7:13Speaker 2: She does not follow me. Oddly enough, not many of
- 7:18Speaker 2: the New York Housewives follow me. I think only Jules Wainstein,
- 7:22Speaker 2: who was on one season, but yeah, I really liked her.
- 7:26Speaker 2: She follows me, but none of the other og rony women,
- 7:30Speaker 2: which is a little disappointing because I love them so much.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I'm so excited for the Golden Life coming out. I
- 7:37Speaker 2: love them so much that they may have worked their
- 7:42Speaker 2: way into my book.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You have to read it to find out.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I guess yes, you will have to read it to
- 7:48Speaker 2: find out. But I find it very interesting that Sonia Morgan,
- 7:53Speaker 2: who doesn't follow me, commented on my book post when
- 7:56Speaker 2: I announced the book, saying congratulations. She also liked bunch
- 8:00Speaker 2: of other posts. But I find it very interesting because
- 8:03Speaker 2: there may be a character in my book whose name
- 8:06Speaker 2: is Sylvia, and she might live on the Upper east Side,
- 8:11Speaker 2: and she might live in a crumbling townhouse. She might
- 8:16Speaker 2: also be allegedly broke. She may have a daughter, and
- 8:21Speaker 2: she may be divorced from a very old man who
- 8:24Speaker 2: left her for her friends.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Does she have a storage unit full of old birkins?
- 8:32Speaker 2: She sold them already. Okay, she doesn't have a bag
- 8:35Speaker 2: to her name? Does she her basement? You don't want
- 8:42Speaker 2: to go in the.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Basement, No Crisco, no basics. Oh so funny. Okay, Now,
- 8:51Speaker 1: Sony Morgan, Now let's talk about the I keep calling
- 8:54Speaker 1: it the Golden Years. Is it called the Golden Life?
- 8:56Speaker 2: The Golden the Golden Life? Right?
- 8:59Speaker 1: Okay? The New Roney spin off on each Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 9:03Speaker 1: the Golden Life, like the well yes, but first of all,
- 9:07Speaker 1: like when is it coming? Because now they're adding like
- 9:10Speaker 1: Margaret and some other people which I love in kandas
- 9:12Speaker 1: push and all like great, but yeah, I assume they're
- 9:15Speaker 1: coming in as like a friend of like, uh, they're
- 9:17Speaker 1: just like letting us know that they're coming in as
- 9:19Speaker 1: like side characters to visit. But what are we getting
- 9:22Speaker 1: this show?
- 9:23Speaker 2: Okay? So, from what I've read and from what I understand,
- 9:26Speaker 2: filming went really well. So he wanted to add some
- 9:30Speaker 2: more episodes, and it was summer in the Hampton's and
- 9:34Speaker 2: Ramona and Luann are already there, so then they had
- 9:37Speaker 2: the opportunity to add Margaret Joseph's I guess she had
- 9:40Speaker 2: originally been in talks about being on the show, but
- 9:45Speaker 2: she was on some other show on Amazon that's coming out. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 2: so I guess she couldn't have been in it. Then
- 9:52Speaker 2: I think she actually makes sense. I wasn't like a
- 9:55Speaker 2: huge fan of her in New Jersey, but she has,
- 9:59Speaker 2: you know, established relationships with Ramona and with leu Anne,
- 10:02Speaker 2: and so I think and Durinda, and so I think
- 10:05Speaker 2: that makes sense. I'm totally okay with that. Candice Bush Now,
- 10:08Speaker 2: I love Sex and the City was also an inspiration
- 10:12Speaker 2: to the book because the early seasons are very centered
- 10:15Speaker 2: on the Upper east Side. I mean, they're Part two
- 10:18Speaker 2: of my book is called Scourge in the City, so
- 10:21Speaker 2: you know, there are definitely references to that as well.
- 10:24Speaker 2: So I'm excited to see her. So, from what I understand,
- 10:28Speaker 2: filming went really well, so they wanted to add some
- 10:30Speaker 2: more episodes during the summer, but I think we're getting
- 10:33Speaker 2: it in the fall. I think it's a really quick turnaround.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Maybe there will be a little bit of a break
- 10:38Speaker 2: so for editing, but I'm pretty sure we're getting this
- 10:42Speaker 2: in the fall.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I would imagine they don't want to go up against
- 10:45Speaker 1: Ultimate Girls' Trip because that's a little bit of the
- 10:47Speaker 1: same audience, or you know, and maybe they want to
- 10:51Speaker 1: wait till the new Roney season comes out and give
- 10:53Speaker 1: it a minute and you know, piggyback off of that.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Really Yeah, and I think I think it's a good
- 10:59Speaker 2: time for it to come out regardless. And I don't
- 11:01Speaker 2: think Ultimate Girls Trip. I think that comes out like
- 11:04Speaker 2: August tenth or something like that, And there probably won't
- 11:08Speaker 2: be a lot of episodes. If it goes by previous seasons,
- 11:11Speaker 2: it'll probably be what six episodes something like that.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna say, I was going to say eight.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I can't remember, though. Those are quick seasons. And for
- 11:21Speaker 1: you know, everybody says that it'll be great, and I
- 11:24Speaker 1: think everybody else because we'll watch anything on Bravo. Really,
- 11:27Speaker 1: the problem is going to be sort of to get
- 11:29Speaker 1: that audience to flip the channel over to E.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I think there is. I mean people, there's definitely buzz
- 11:36Speaker 2: about it. People are excited to see it. People wanted
- 11:39Speaker 2: the Ogs to come back to Bravo for whatever reason.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I did too. I freaking love that show. So I
- 11:47Speaker 2: don't I don't know, I don't know why Bravo didn't
- 11:49Speaker 2: do it. What do you think about that?
- 11:52Speaker 1: Well, my question for you is I'm sure you've seen
- 11:56Speaker 1: the new Rony trailer for the new season with you know,
- 11:59Speaker 1: we've got Si, We've got Jessel, we've got Carol Radziwell
- 12:04Speaker 1: that's it, right, Si and Jessel and Aaron, and then
- 12:08Speaker 1: we have some new people and Carol Radswell. I listen.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I've been fooled by a trailer before where I've been like,
- 12:14Speaker 1: this is gonna be the best thing, and then it sucks.
- 12:16Speaker 1: But I thought the trailer looked amazing.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I think the trailer looked amazing too. I thought it
- 12:21Speaker 2: looked really good. I think I did not like the
- 12:25Speaker 2: last two seasons. I watched them, so it wasn't completely
- 12:30Speaker 2: you know, biased, but I I did watch them. The
- 12:34Speaker 2: last season was really kind of dark and a you know,
- 12:38Speaker 2: it's not I'm actually a little bit surprised that it
- 12:42Speaker 2: even survived, that's to tell you the truth. But yeah,
- 12:46Speaker 2: I think the trailer looks really good. I'm interested in
- 12:49Speaker 2: seeing what happens. It seems like they may have been
- 12:53Speaker 2: trying to be too much like the old Ronian or
- 12:56Speaker 2: and the two seasons that they had. It does seem
- 12:59Speaker 2: like maybe their brand off a little bit more, which
- 13:02Speaker 2: is sort of ironic because Carol Radziwell is joining, but
- 13:07Speaker 2: I'm interested in seeing her on the show. I always
- 13:09Speaker 2: liked her. We do see, we'll see, and then sighs
- 13:14Speaker 2: going crazy about the Jeffrey absteeing things, And yeah, I
- 13:18Speaker 2: don't think she. I don't think Carol expected that going
- 13:21Speaker 2: into the show.
- 13:22Speaker 1: No, I didn't expect she. She thinks she'd be called
- 13:25Speaker 1: out on the street for that. And Si, of course,
- 13:27Speaker 1: just like they announced she's getting a divorce, you know,
- 13:30Speaker 1: right as they were filling. So we always love a
- 13:33Speaker 1: divorce during one of our Housewives seasons. It makes it spicy, yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 2: For sure, because she's like angry and she's you know,
- 13:40Speaker 2: Carol's gonna get it. It looks like.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Y'all by now. I hope you've seen my ad on

- 16:34Speaker 1: and Canadian Bunkies. Let me know what you got, you know,
- 16:40Speaker 1: speaking of divorce, you know Salt Lake City, we've got
- 16:43Speaker 1: their either filming or have wrapped, and I imagine we're
- 16:46Speaker 1: going to be because they usually launch that in the winter.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I feel like to go with the Salt Lakes theme. Yeah,
- 16:52Speaker 1: but we've got three divorces going on there. We've got
- 16:55Speaker 1: Bronwyn and Whitney and Justin are separated, and now we've
- 17:00Speaker 1: got the Angie k separation. The Angik just really like
- 17:05Speaker 1: that took me down. I was upsetting.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yeah, except when I watched the last season when they
- 17:12Speaker 2: did have scenes together with their child. Like, I think
- 17:14Speaker 2: you can see that there's a disconnect. I think it
- 17:17Speaker 2: probably became more of a friendship rather than like a
- 17:20Speaker 2: romantic relationship. Okay, interesting, that's kind of like I thought.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I I vividly sort of remember thinking that when I
- 17:29Speaker 2: would watch those scenes, I was like, oh, there's not
- 17:31Speaker 2: a lot of like there's no heat left.
- 17:33Speaker 1: It seems I see what you're saying. That they seemed
- 17:37Speaker 1: more like because they are like business partners and the
- 17:39Speaker 1: radio child together, and I think, you know, when they
- 17:42Speaker 1: I think this happens a lot when you have a
- 17:45Speaker 1: new franchise starting that. I think the husbands are always
- 17:48Speaker 1: pretty stunned when focus turns on them, like like you know,
- 17:53Speaker 1: like wait, why why is anybody asking what I'm doing?
- 17:56Speaker 1: You know, because I definitely than Seth. It definitely happened
- 18:00Speaker 1: bron went and Todd, and of course Todd did not
- 18:03Speaker 1: like that.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Oh no, he was terrible.
- 18:05Speaker 1: So Sean, I think, was very stunned to find that
- 18:08Speaker 1: people were now chatting about his sexuality and this, that
- 18:11Speaker 1: and the other. So that wasn't great for their marriage.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Probably no, it probably yeah, yeah, for sure, definitely not good.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Mary Cosby susband too, just it was like nope, I'm out.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I live in Florida. Now fuck this.
- 18:25Speaker 2: There's like, no, there's only Lisa's husband, Lisa's husband and
- 18:31Speaker 2: Meredith's susband. They're the only They're the last one standing.
- 18:35Speaker 1: What did you think about Lisa's post with her and
- 18:39Speaker 1: John Barlow and like matching jeans and white T shirts
- 18:42Speaker 1: with their Veta tequila in their hand, being like still
- 18:44Speaker 1: standing strong.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I thought it was kind of bitchy, but like in
- 18:50Speaker 2: the best possible way. Clearly she must not be on
- 18:54Speaker 2: good terms with Angie k right now, because that's rubbing
- 18:58Speaker 2: it in a little bit. But I wouldn't expect anything
- 19:01Speaker 2: less from her. But I still love her.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I love her too. I thought it was not nice. No,
- 19:08Speaker 1: you definitely nice, sort of like haha, I'm still married
- 19:12Speaker 1: and you're not. I mean, I don't know, but I
- 19:16Speaker 1: was very sad about that. But it's going to be
- 19:17Speaker 1: a great season.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. I like Salt Lake. I think it's interesting.
- 19:23Speaker 2: I think they still have a lot of story left
- 19:25Speaker 2: in them. Oh yeah, I'm curious what this new season
- 19:30Speaker 2: is going to be like because it starts filming like
- 19:32Speaker 2: literally right after Mary's Son past. Yeah, it's that's.
- 19:42Speaker 1: That's a lot. Yeah, it is going to be a
- 19:44Speaker 1: speaking of dark my god. Yeah, So we've got Salt Lake.
- 19:49Speaker 1: So are you watching oc? I mean, are you watching
- 19:53Speaker 1: it or you hate watching it? Are you like me?
- 19:55Speaker 1: I'm just like I'll watch anything they give me. So
- 19:57Speaker 1: I'm just watching it.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I'm watching it. Oc is not a show that I've
- 20:03Speaker 2: watched from the very beginning. I don't even think I
- 20:05Speaker 2: found it until COVID when I was looking for other
- 20:08Speaker 2: things to watch. I tried to watch the early seasons
- 20:12Speaker 2: and I just couldn't because like the production value is
- 20:16Speaker 2: like terrible, and it's just it's so hard to watch.
- 20:19Speaker 2: But I did go back and I watched up until
- 20:22Speaker 2: when Shannon's first season. So there's a lot of like
- 20:26Speaker 2: criticism about Shannon, but I've always found Shannon to be
- 20:29Speaker 2: a really interesting character. Yeah, so I'm watching it. Is
- 20:34Speaker 2: it like the best show ever? No, I mean it's not,
- 20:40Speaker 2: but I mean I like it. It's I'm interested in it.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I'm glad that Vicky's back. I do find her to
- 20:49Speaker 2: be like just an interesting individualist, like a writer who
- 20:53Speaker 2: looks at things like character wise. I think she's an
- 20:55Speaker 2: interesting character. I don't know that she's somebody that I
- 20:58Speaker 2: would like in real life, but I like watching her.
- 21:02Speaker 1: That's interesting because a lot of people have also been like,
- 21:04Speaker 1: we didn't need it. Why is Vicky back? I was like,
- 21:06Speaker 1: it's the twentieth season. They had to bring it back.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It was a great step and it works and she's delivering,
- 21:13Speaker 1: you know, and you know, lover hate Vicky and people
- 21:17Speaker 1: get mad at me when I say this. She is
- 21:19Speaker 1: the og of the OC and people will be like, no,
- 21:21Speaker 1: Gina was cast first. I don't care. Vicky's the one
- 21:24Speaker 1: that's been on the longest, you know.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's like nostalgics. I have her back on.
- 21:29Speaker 2: She's literally the og of all of them, like she
- 21:33Speaker 2: she started this, so yeah, I think it was only
- 21:36Speaker 2: fair to have her back on.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I completely agree. Did you have did you have opinions on?
- 21:43Speaker 1: People had a lot of strong opinions about Gina Keo
- 21:46Speaker 1: doing a GoFundMe for her health care. I mean, in
- 21:48Speaker 1: my mind, I'm like, if she doesn't have the money
- 21:50Speaker 1: to pay for her healthcare, I don't think there's any
- 21:52Speaker 1: problem with it. That's where we are in this country.
- 21:54Speaker 1: But people are like, no, it's tone deaf because they
- 21:56Speaker 1: went on a vacation to Tahiti. And I'm like, well,
- 21:59Speaker 1: two things can be true, you know.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's it's complicated. We don't know the
- 22:05Speaker 2: details of you know, her finances. Would I personally start
- 22:11Speaker 2: to go find me, no, but you know, to each
- 22:16Speaker 2: their own. Apparently she can't work now, she's a real
- 22:21Speaker 2: stag agent. She can't talk like she had part of
- 22:23Speaker 2: her tongue removes. So this is I don't know what
- 22:27Speaker 2: I would actually do in a situation like that. Yeah, so,
- 22:31Speaker 2: I mean I don't falter in it at all. Like
- 22:34Speaker 2: I hope she has a you know, speedy recovery and
- 22:38Speaker 2: only good thoughts towards her.
- 22:41Speaker 1: God bless, it's terrible. Okay, speaking of things that are
- 22:45Speaker 1: dark and God bless and terrible, I am obsessed with
- 22:49Speaker 1: The Valley. I love the Valley. I love everything about
- 22:51Speaker 1: The Valley. I am upset to hear rumors that it's
- 22:55Speaker 1: going to be canceled. At the very least, they've got
- 22:58Speaker 1: to keep it around for Jack's Day, his ex publicist,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and Michelle Danny doctor Dre. That's that's enough to give
- 23:05Speaker 1: us another season, right there.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so The Valley is definitely my hate watch. Okay,
- 23:14Speaker 2: it's but I actually watched a couple of like, rewatched
- 23:18Speaker 2: a couple episodes last night, and I was like, this
- 23:21Speaker 2: is good. Like I can't tell if I like it
- 23:24Speaker 2: or it just like activates me in some weird way.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I think, yes, there's lots of rumors about this being
- 23:32Speaker 2: the last season, and I think it'd be fine if
- 23:37Speaker 2: it was the last season, quite frankly, but if it's
- 23:39Speaker 2: not the last season, I think Jackson needs to come back.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I also think all of the men on that show
- 23:46Speaker 2: should want Jax back, because when he was on the show,
- 23:51Speaker 2: you didn't see how bad all of them were. Ninety
- 23:55Speaker 2: nine percent of those men are terrible individuals. The only
- 23:59Speaker 2: one that I can think of off the top of
- 24:00Speaker 2: my head, and we don't see him very much, but
- 24:03Speaker 2: he seems to be a decent guy and they have
- 24:04Speaker 2: a good relationship, is Janet's husband, Jason. All the other
- 24:07Speaker 2: ones are horrific, horrific individuals. Women should watch this show
- 24:13Speaker 2: and be like, I don't think I'm gonna get married,
- 24:16Speaker 2: Like they should all just go live in a commune
- 24:18Speaker 2: and raise their children themselves, because if you were to
- 24:21Speaker 2: look at these men as a sample of what's out there, no,
- 24:25Speaker 2: why would you ever? And Kristin. I feel so bad
- 24:28Speaker 2: for Kristin because she has this little child attached to her,
- 24:30Speaker 2: she's going through postpartum, and Luke is the worst of
- 24:34Speaker 2: all of them. I cannot watch that show and watch
- 24:37Speaker 2: him without it makes me crazy. I am screaming at
- 24:41Speaker 2: the TV like he makes me insane. And they wanted
- 24:45Speaker 2: that child very badly. They wanted that child, and now
- 24:49Speaker 2: that they have it, he's acting like a complete douchebag.
- 24:54Speaker 1: You think Luke is worse than Danny.
- 24:59Speaker 2: You know what, It's depends on the week, but they're
- 25:02Speaker 2: both horrible. They're both really really bad. Danny's really bad.
- 25:10Speaker 2: But my opinion of Nina actually or Nia lately has
- 25:15Speaker 2: changed when when I when I originally watched it, like
- 25:18Speaker 2: I thought that she was definitely a lot sweeter in
- 25:21Speaker 2: the beginning, but I'm getting like, like, I feel like
- 25:25Speaker 2: she's pulling the strings a little bit, and I think
- 25:29Speaker 2: she she's she's definitely covering for him in a lot
- 25:32Speaker 2: of ways.
- 25:33Speaker 1: And absolutely, yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 2: She's covering for him in so many ways, and it
- 25:38Speaker 2: makes me worried about her, like what is actually going on?
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yes, it makes me worried about her too, because you know,
- 25:46Speaker 1: she had a baby and then she had twins and
- 25:50Speaker 1: if that wasn't enough, they were like, let's just let's
- 25:53Speaker 1: just keep it going. I mean, and I understand a
- 25:56Speaker 1: lot of young people were like, well, if we're gonna
- 25:57Speaker 1: have kids. Let's just knock it all out, and they
- 25:59Speaker 1: get terrible for ten years and then you know, and
- 26:01Speaker 1: then we'll be on the other side of it. But
- 26:04Speaker 1: if you don't have a good relationship, I don't know
- 26:06Speaker 1: how you're going to get on the other side of it.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And if your husband is lying constantly about his drinking,
- 26:13Speaker 1: you know, let me tell you. You don't know this about me.
- 26:17Speaker 1: My husband is twelve years sober. So this Nia and
- 26:20Speaker 1: Danny thing is like super triggering for me because his
- 26:22Speaker 1: behavior is so familiar to me, and her behavior is
- 26:26Speaker 1: also familiar to me, the protecting and deflecting and look
- 26:29Speaker 1: over here, don't look over here, you know. But when
- 26:33Speaker 1: Lala called her a thug in a prairie dress, I
- 26:35Speaker 1: was like, now.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I know, right, Laala, you kind of definitely needed her
- 26:40Speaker 2: to like pop in here and sort of like express
- 26:43Speaker 2: her opinion, because she does sort of say what no
- 26:45Speaker 2: one else is saying. Yes, So when you watch it,
- 26:50Speaker 2: you can see Nia doing that.
- 26:54Speaker 1: She's absolutely protecting him and absolutely when he starts to
- 27:00Speaker 1: spire off, which I know that she just has to
- 27:02Speaker 1: feel sick going into any event knowing he's going to
- 27:05Speaker 1: be drinking. No what it's going to turn into, because
- 27:07Speaker 1: she knows once you get some drinks in him, I
- 27:10Speaker 1: can't control him. I can't get him to you know, one, two,
- 27:13Speaker 1: three eyes on me. She can't get him to focus
- 27:17Speaker 1: because now he's drunk, and now he's mad, and he
- 27:19Speaker 1: hates a la la stands for everything he hates, you know,
- 27:24Speaker 1: like single woman, okaying for sexuality. You know, he just
- 27:27Speaker 1: can't stand that.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Yeah, he's terrible. Also, like I know that they are
- 27:34Speaker 2: on him a lot about it, about his drinking, and
- 27:38Speaker 2: I don't drink anymore. I wouldn't say that I was
- 27:40Speaker 2: an alcoholic, but like a year and a half ago
- 27:42Speaker 2: or so, I just realized it didn't work for me anymore.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Made me I felt a little depressed afterwards, no matter
- 27:48Speaker 2: how much I drink. And that might be where he
- 27:50Speaker 2: is too. Maybe he's not a raging alcoholic, but he
- 27:53Speaker 2: has an issue. There's an issue there. Also, he's doing
- 27:58Speaker 2: this on camera. What is he doing when he's not
- 28:01Speaker 2: on camera?
- 28:03Speaker 1: That's exactly the way he speaks to her makes you
- 28:06Speaker 1: think if you're speaking to her knowing that you both
- 28:08Speaker 1: have microphones on, yes, how are you speaking to her
- 28:12Speaker 1: when you take the microphones off that Nanny has seen
- 28:16Speaker 1: some shit, you know.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Yeah. I also think that she's got some fight in
- 28:21Speaker 2: her too, So I'd like to hear how she talks
- 28:24Speaker 2: when the cameras aren't rolling and when she's not maked up, too,
- 28:27Speaker 2: because I don't think she puts up with nearly as
- 28:29Speaker 2: much as people are thinking that she does, or if
- 28:33Speaker 2: she is putting up with it, there's a different side
- 28:36Speaker 2: of her that we have yet to see.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I think that's right because we have seen it before
- 28:42Speaker 1: when last season they were on the phone and she
- 28:45Speaker 1: was like, let me tell you something. You go home
- 28:47Speaker 1: and do this and then you go you know, and
- 28:49Speaker 1: you're like, yeah, glimpses, yeah, glimpses.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Yeah. I think there's glimpses of it. Yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I think that maybe that's why he drinks. I don't know.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. But it's interesting that you think Luke
- 29:02Speaker 1: is worse because a lot of people have such strong
- 29:05Speaker 1: feelings on Luke. And I did actually appreciate this week
- 29:08Speaker 1: when when they were in therapy and she said, I
- 29:12Speaker 1: she said, this will watch what happens. I've told him
- 29:14Speaker 1: when we're in therapy, say it, like, get it out
- 29:17Speaker 1: while we're in therapy. You don't talk to me like
- 29:19Speaker 1: that at home. But for him to say, you know,
- 29:23Speaker 1: I wanted you to have this baby, but then I
- 29:25Speaker 1: had never met pregnant Kristin. But then, but then he's
- 29:29Speaker 1: pushing to have another baby.
- 29:31Speaker 2: It's crazy. It doesn't make any sense to me. I
- 29:34Speaker 2: love that scene though, and the therapist in Kristin, I
- 29:38Speaker 2: thought they wanted I thought they were going to like
- 29:40Speaker 2: beat his ass. That therapist like looked at her like what, yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I love the therapists. Yeah whoa said it?
- 29:50Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. So she even had a huge reaction, so that. Yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 2: he's terrible. I feel bad for Kristen because she's like
- 29:59Speaker 2: in it. You know, she's got this small child attached
- 30:02Speaker 2: to her. But I'm curious, you know, where will she
- 30:06Speaker 2: be in five years? You know.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Yes, I'm excited for the reunion. I know they just
- 30:12Speaker 1: filmed it obviously, because they did some like looks of
- 30:14Speaker 1: the reunion. I'm excited to see sort of where we
- 30:18Speaker 1: are now because when you have just had that baby,
- 30:21Speaker 1: and I can imagine, especially for Nia has had like
- 30:24Speaker 1: back to back kids, and it's all filmed. And that's
- 30:26Speaker 1: why people don't like the show, because they think it's dark,
- 30:29Speaker 1: but in my mind, I'm like, it's really a real
- 30:31Speaker 1: representation of that time in your life. And you know,
- 30:35Speaker 1: while we have people that age on Summer House, you know,
- 30:39Speaker 1: we've got people in the valley sort of like in
- 30:41Speaker 1: it with like marriage and babies, and I don't know,
- 30:45Speaker 1: I find it. I find it fascinating and I'll be
- 30:47Speaker 1: very sad if they cancel it.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I like I said, I kind of hate watch it.
- 30:52Speaker 2: But then there are times when I'm watching it, I'm like, wait, no,
- 30:55Speaker 2: this is actually really good and there's some real stuff
- 30:58Speaker 2: happening here.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, yeah, Now question for you, what what else
- 31:05Speaker 1: are you watching? So if you're not watching like Bravo
- 31:08Speaker 1: or sitting around waiting for the E show to happen,
- 31:11Speaker 1: what are you watching.
- 31:13Speaker 2: I rewatch a lot of things. I watch a lot
- 31:15Speaker 2: of movies. I'm you know, I write horror and comedy
- 31:19Speaker 2: and those are the kind of things that I watch.
- 31:21Speaker 2: But I do love reality TV. I find it like
- 31:26Speaker 2: I'm able to watch it and I can kind of
- 31:28Speaker 2: like switch my brain off. I find that if I
- 31:32Speaker 2: It's the same way with reading, Like when I'm writing,
- 31:35Speaker 2: I don't read a lot of fiction. I can read memoirs,
- 31:39Speaker 2: like anything like a magazine or something on the subway
- 31:42Speaker 2: or whatever, because I like people's stories and I like
- 31:44Speaker 2: to absorb people's stories. But like fiction or something scripted,
- 31:49Speaker 2: I'm a little pickier about watching or reading. But there
- 31:54Speaker 2: are things in the horror world that I'm very excited
- 31:57Speaker 2: about coming up. Like there's a Crystal like series. There's
- 32:01Speaker 2: a Carry series happening.
- 32:03Speaker 1: I saw about the Carrey series. That's interesting.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm super excited about that. The new season of
- 32:09Speaker 2: American Horror Story is following the Coven storyline, which was
- 32:13Speaker 2: my favorite season. Yeah, so I'm super excited about that.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I started watching Real Housewives of London and I think
- 32:21Speaker 2: it's going well. I was very upset about uh, Ladies
- 32:25Speaker 2: of London being canceled because I loved.
- 32:28Speaker 1: It beyond I would listen to it. Listen. If they
- 32:31Speaker 1: said to me, we're going to cancel The Valley or
- 32:33Speaker 1: cancel Ladies of London, it would be a Sophie's choice
- 32:37Speaker 1: for me. But I would say, Okay, we're done with
- 32:38Speaker 1: the Valley, give me more Ladies of London.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yes, Because we were like, we're robbed, We're robbed of
- 32:44Speaker 2: what could have happened with that show. It was such
- 32:47Speaker 2: a great cast. It was so interesting. It made me
- 32:50Speaker 2: want to move to London. So Andy Cohen, they talked.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Andy Cohn was talking about that it was the ratings,
- 32:59Speaker 2: that that's reason why Ladies of London was canceled. Do
- 33:03Speaker 2: you believe that? Because it took him a while to
- 33:05Speaker 2: say that.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I don't know if I believe it or not believe it.
- 33:10Speaker 1: But every person I know, every Bravo podcast or every
- 33:15Speaker 1: you know, Bravo influencer, everybody was obsessed with it. You
- 33:19Speaker 1: didn't find me like like a lot of people were
- 33:21Speaker 1: kind of hot and cold on OC and you'd get
- 33:24Speaker 1: a lot of people hot and cold about lots of things.
- 33:26Speaker 1: But everybody loved the show.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Yes, it was great, and it was great because of
- 33:34Speaker 2: the cast. I mean, there wasn't a lot of drama happening.
- 33:38Speaker 2: It just was like this sort of just a magical
- 33:41Speaker 2: cast that they put together. Do you think. So there
- 33:46Speaker 2: was rumors about Margo's husband potentially suing, although she went
- 33:53Speaker 2: on Jeff Lewis's radio show and said that that was
- 33:57Speaker 2: not the case and that if it was the case,
- 33:59Speaker 2: you'd be able to find a lawsuit. So obviously a
- 34:01Speaker 2: lawsuit wasn't filed, But do you think that potentially he
- 34:05Speaker 2: threatened to sue and then on top of that, they
- 34:10Speaker 2: had you know, late uh Real Housewives of London potentially
- 34:14Speaker 2: in the can to use on Peacock or Bravo as well.
- 34:19Speaker 2: So do you think maybe they're like, uh, we'll just
- 34:22Speaker 2: cut our losses. Like I don't. I'm very fascinated on
- 34:25Speaker 2: what happened, and I do remember like she's made a
- 34:29Speaker 2: comment about going off of social media, but she literally
- 34:33Speaker 2: went off social media like right before this came out,
- 34:36Speaker 2: as though she like knew something was coming.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I think the margo of it is interesting, and
- 34:42Speaker 1: it's also interesting that she went on Jeff's show like
- 34:46Speaker 1: after it was canceled, right like because people were doing
- 34:50Speaker 1: so much press before that she wasn't doing anything.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Oh she did. She did appear. She appeared while the
- 34:57Speaker 2: show was airing. She did appear on Jeff's show also.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Okay, okay, so she appeared twice. Yeah, yeah, I found that.
- 35:07Speaker 1: It's also weird to me too that they had the
- 35:10Speaker 1: cast we had, Mark, we had, Kimmy, we had we
- 35:14Speaker 1: had almost every cast member was either on Watch What
- 35:17Speaker 1: Happens Live like Bartender or like sitting with Andy and
- 35:21Speaker 1: doing tons of press and tons of podcasts and everything.
- 35:24Speaker 1: So they were paying for all this pr and then
- 35:26Speaker 1: they haled it.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like we're not getting the full story.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Definitely not I like the full story. I'd like to
- 35:34Speaker 2: know what happened. I also, I really loved Mark Francis
- 35:38Speaker 2: on that show. I know that there's been like a
- 35:41Speaker 2: lot of talk because you know, Bravo's audience is women
- 35:44Speaker 2: and gay men primarily, and there's been a lot of
- 35:46Speaker 2: talk on how to incorporate like maybe a gay character
- 35:51Speaker 2: into the Housewives. And while that wasn't The Housewives, I
- 35:54Speaker 2: think that they did it brilliantly. Like he totally fit in.
- 35:58Speaker 2: He's a very interesting character. I mean, he lives in
- 36:01Speaker 2: Oscar wild, it's flat. Yeah, he's just he's very interesting. Again,
- 36:07Speaker 2: I don't know that i'd like him in person, he
- 36:08Speaker 2: seems like a lot, but as some as a viewer
- 36:12Speaker 2: watching something and you know, a writer who's interested in characters,
- 36:16Speaker 2: I found him very fascinating.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I completely agree. And then the whole thing with Hecate
- 36:22Speaker 1: dying and we didn't.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Get oh I know, I know, because he drowned, right,
- 36:28Speaker 2: he drowned in the bathtub. He drowned in the bathtub
- 36:31Speaker 2: during the heat wave.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and she said he was always so careful around water,
- 36:35Speaker 1: and then he I was like, oh my god, it's
- 36:38Speaker 1: like a wild bird she found in her yard that
- 36:41Speaker 1: she made her pet. You just can't you just can't
- 36:43Speaker 1: make it up. You can't make it up. It's fascinating. Well,
- 36:46Speaker 1: I hope with all the uproar about it, I kind
- 36:50Speaker 1: of hope that maybe they'll sort of revisit bringing it
- 36:53Speaker 1: back and sort of give us a Miami situation where
- 36:55Speaker 1: they'll make us wait a little bit and then they'll
- 36:57Speaker 1: bring it back with the same people.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think waiting would be a mistake. Though. That's
- 37:03Speaker 2: a problem. Like it was so magical right when it
- 37:06Speaker 2: was filming. They should have picked up cameras right away, unless, like,
- 37:09Speaker 2: do you think because it's in London that it's an
- 37:11Speaker 2: especially expensive show. I don't know, is that more expensive
- 37:15Speaker 2: than New York or Beverly Hills.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I can't imagine. They just have their team there that
- 37:20Speaker 1: does it.
- 37:21Speaker 2: You know, they're not paying them barely anything. You know,
- 37:24Speaker 2: it's first season, so I don't know.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Sure lay Real Housewives of London. I know that I
- 37:31Speaker 1: had a listener write me and said that they had
- 37:33Speaker 1: already seen the first season because it's aired in England. Yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 1: and they were like, I gotta tell you, it's nowhere
- 37:38Speaker 1: near as good as Ladies of London. I don't know
- 37:40Speaker 1: what Bravo was thinking by picking this up instead of
- 37:43Speaker 1: Lady's of London. It's just doesn't compare. I watched the
- 37:46Speaker 1: first episode and it kind of lost me. Is so
- 37:50Speaker 1: maybe I need to try again.
- 37:51Speaker 2: If you if you thought it was good, I think
- 37:53Speaker 2: it has promise. I think it's interesting. I don't think
- 37:56Speaker 2: it's as good as Ladies of London, but I think
- 37:59Speaker 2: you you can't really compare it to that. I did
- 38:04Speaker 2: see the trailer though, and Derinda pops up, which I
- 38:06Speaker 2: found very interesting.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Yes, she doesn't want you to ever forget she lived
- 38:10Speaker 1: in London.
- 38:11Speaker 2: No, never, and she's like, I forget them that character's name.
- 38:17Speaker 2: I don't have all the characters' names, but she is
- 38:19Speaker 2: friends with the one who seems to be the most reserved.
- 38:23Speaker 2: But in the trailer, she like loses her mind because
- 38:27Speaker 2: there's I think, like an American where there's like another
- 38:31Speaker 2: Juliette who's joining in like episode five or something like that,
- 38:35Speaker 2: and apparently like she comes in and really starts stirring
- 38:38Speaker 2: stuff up. So it will be interesting. It'll be interesting
- 38:42Speaker 2: to watch these women who are so poised and like
- 38:46Speaker 2: reserved and proper like lose their minds because they're going
- 38:49Speaker 2: to Yeah.
- 38:50Speaker 1: That's why I like Ladies of London. Yeah, okay, did you?
- 38:55Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure you did. What did you think
- 38:58Speaker 1: of Real housew as a Rhode Islander our newest franchise.
- 39:02Speaker 2: I loved every minute of it, loved every minute of it.
- 39:06Speaker 2: I have questions. I'd like somebody to do, like a
- 39:09Speaker 2: really in depth interview, because I want to know. I
- 39:14Speaker 2: pieced some things together based on social media and what
- 39:17Speaker 2: cast members have said, but I want to know when
- 39:20Speaker 2: was this cast, what was that process, who brought who?
- 39:24Speaker 2: Because it's perfect, it's perfect how it happened. But I
- 39:28Speaker 2: have a feeling like it's been in the works for
- 39:30Speaker 2: a long time and from what I understand, it's like
- 39:33Speaker 2: a two year thing and like it's but it's perfect.
- 39:38Speaker 2: I don't know how especially like and I don't know
- 39:42Speaker 2: no offense to Rhode Island, but I had no idea
- 39:44Speaker 2: about the personalities there, and just just the fact that
- 39:47Speaker 2: they were able to piece together this brilliant cast, each
- 39:51Speaker 2: one there is no weak link. They're all great, and
- 39:55Speaker 2: just the fact that they were able to do that
- 39:57Speaker 2: makes me wonder, Okay, where is Real Housewives of New Orleans?
- 40:02Speaker 2: Where is Real Housewives of Austin? Where is? It just
- 40:07Speaker 2: made me open my brain to potential new franchises, which
- 40:13Speaker 2: should also make established franchises a little bit worried. Because
- 40:19Speaker 2: if you have Real Housewives of Rhode Island coming on
- 40:23Speaker 2: and just like blowing it out of the water and
- 40:26Speaker 2: everybody loving it, and you know it didn't cost barely
- 40:29Speaker 2: anything for them to make it, none of them are
- 40:31Speaker 2: making money in the beginning. Then you have, you know,
- 40:35Speaker 2: cast like Orange County, which has been around twenty years now,
- 40:38Speaker 2: or Beverly Hills, which cost a fortune, although that's more
- 40:41Speaker 2: of a lifestyle show, so that might be exempt from this.
- 40:44Speaker 2: But all these other shows that have been around for
- 40:46Speaker 2: a long time, like I don't know, like I it
- 40:50Speaker 2: might be time to start retiring shows. What do you
- 40:53Speaker 2: think about that?
- 40:55Speaker 1: That makes me sad because you know, they did that
- 40:58Speaker 1: to our New York and we did like it. So
- 41:02Speaker 1: O C is a little different because I think we
- 41:05Speaker 1: generally the fandom doesn't feel as strongly about the OC
- 41:10Speaker 1: women as we did our og New York ladies. Yeah,
- 41:14Speaker 1: I think people just feel so strongly about that. You know,
- 41:16Speaker 1: the Luay and the Bethany of the Sonia and you
- 41:19Speaker 1: know Jill Zeron even God Bless and we feel so
- 41:22Speaker 1: strongly about that. I am excited about the E Show,
- 41:26Speaker 1: but and I'm also excited about the New New York
- 41:30Speaker 1: I think, and as a New Yorker you can speak
- 41:32Speaker 1: to this. I think they shouldn't have named it real
- 41:34Speaker 1: House as of New York.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that was their biggest mistake. It should have been
- 41:38Speaker 2: I mean, there's already in the city or the city
- 41:40Speaker 2: or whatever, but they should have they should have called
- 41:44Speaker 2: it something else.
- 41:45Speaker 1: That was a huge mistakes in Manhattan, just something.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Something something, or not even housewives. It could have been
- 41:52Speaker 2: like I don't know, it could have been the I think, well,
- 41:56Speaker 2: they weren't all moms. I was going to say, maybe
- 41:58Speaker 2: they could have gone back to the original life idea
- 42:00Speaker 2: of Roney and called in Manhattan Moms or something like that.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I just think the mistake was calling it the same
- 42:06Speaker 2: thing and not sort of refreshing the entry. So it's like,
- 42:11Speaker 2: what is it real Housewives of New York season whatever.
- 42:14Speaker 2: But it's like going to be their third season, right.
- 42:18Speaker 1: I didn't like that at all because they haven't earned that.
- 42:20Speaker 1: You know, season sixteen, seventeen, they were Season one. They
- 42:23Speaker 1: were a season one cast, and that's what we should
- 42:25Speaker 1: have done.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I would be really pissed off if I was
- 42:28Speaker 2: one of the ogs for them to be on season
- 42:32Speaker 2: thirteen or fourteen or whatever it is.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I mean they're trying,
- 42:38Speaker 1: you know, they're kind of rebranding New Jersey, and I
- 42:41Speaker 1: haven't really heard any buzz either way. We know that
- 42:44Speaker 1: Milania was in the news for you know, punching her
- 42:48Speaker 1: stepfather allegedly or her stepbrother. Not sure she punched somebody
- 42:53Speaker 1: with the initials l R. And hope that'll play out,
- 42:58Speaker 1: you know.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I I'm kind of concerned about New Jersey. I
- 43:04Speaker 2: feel like it's been a long time since filming, and
- 43:08Speaker 2: I just I don't know what that's gonna look like.
- 43:10Speaker 2: I am happy that Teresa Melissa seem to be on
- 43:14Speaker 2: a better page. Whether that's manufactured or not, I don't know.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Maybe it took Maybe it took Teresa. You know, a
- 43:23Speaker 2: couple of years pause and no paycheck to be like, eh,
- 43:27Speaker 2: I don't dislike you guys that much.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not. I'm not a giant. Teresa's Dan and
- 43:34Speaker 1: I hate that Louis, so I'll watch it just because
- 43:36Speaker 1: I don't want to hate watch that red face monster.
- 43:39Speaker 1: You know.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Well, yeah, Louis is definitely like a triggering individual. But
- 43:45Speaker 2: I do you know, watching jen h the New Gens show,
- 43:53Speaker 2: I Teresa, what I find interesting with her is as
- 43:56Speaker 2: wild and crazy as she seems to be, and she's arguably,
- 44:00Speaker 2: like maybe one of the most volatile housewives that we've had.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Gia seems so well adjusted like her kids. I know,
- 44:08Speaker 2: Milania is kind of having a little bit of issues,
- 44:10Speaker 2: but Milania arrived from the womb like that. Like Milania
- 44:15Speaker 2: was a wild child from the moment, like she was
- 44:18Speaker 2: on camera, like that's just her personality, Like that's just
- 44:21Speaker 2: how she was born. But all her other kids, and
- 44:25Speaker 2: Malania's too. Malanie is not a bad kid. But Teresa's
- 44:28Speaker 2: doing something right because she seems to have raised some
- 44:31Speaker 2: really great children.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think if you look at it,
- 44:35Speaker 1: Gia has had to be a parent, you know. Yeah,
- 44:37Speaker 1: and then Malania came along as a third daughter into
- 44:42Speaker 1: this TV world and then God bless Gabrielle. We never
- 44:45Speaker 1: see her and she's probably the smartest one of all,
- 44:48Speaker 1: you know.
- 44:48Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, Yeah, it's yeah. I'm not a huge teresastan,
- 44:54Speaker 2: but when you think about everything that she's put on TV,
- 44:58Speaker 2: it's kind of miraculous. Yeah, that's it's amazing what she
- 45:02Speaker 2: has gone through on TV.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I could agree. Okay, Now tell everybody about what they
- 45:09Speaker 1: can do if they want to get your book, and
- 45:11Speaker 1: also let me this is this is for real. I
- 45:14Speaker 1: saw you post that somebody was reading your book on
- 45:17Speaker 1: the subway. Was that real or was that your friend?
- 45:20Speaker 2: No comment?
- 45:23Speaker 1: Because I saw that, I was like that that would
- 45:25Speaker 1: be really something to be in the wild and see
- 45:29Speaker 1: somebody reading your book. That would really be something.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Yes, Yeah, a hot dude reading, hot dude reading.
- 45:37Speaker 1: That's that's what more do you want on your Instagram
- 45:41Speaker 1: rather than hot dude reading?
- 45:43Speaker 2: Yes, So you can find me on Instagram at Jason Zephyr.
- 45:47Speaker 2: You can find my book Jason Zephyr dot com. But
- 45:50Speaker 2: it's available everywhere online. You can also go to your
- 45:54Speaker 2: local bookstore and if it's not in stock, ask them
- 45:57Speaker 2: to put it in stock. I released it independently in
- 46:00Speaker 2: my own company after kind of severing ties with a
- 46:04Speaker 2: very big agency. This was after publishers sort of wanted
- 46:10Speaker 2: me to change the main character a little bit. They
- 46:12Speaker 2: wanted her they didn't find her to be likable enough.
- 46:16Speaker 2: But that's something that like female characters get a lot.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Uh the husband is cheating on the wife and like
- 46:21Speaker 2: has you know his mistress in a hotel suite, but
- 46:24Speaker 2: nothing about him, nothing about him, only about Yeah, he's fine,
- 46:29Speaker 2: but she's a little depressed in the beginning, and oh,
- 46:32Speaker 2: can't she be more likable or she needs to be
- 46:34Speaker 2: thinking about her child to her children at every step
- 46:37Speaker 2: of the moment. But so I decided to do it myself.
- 46:40Speaker 2: I started my own company called It's a Live Books.
- 46:42Speaker 2: I hired a cartoonist from the New Yorker to do
- 46:45Speaker 2: my cover, which is really a beautiful covers cover. It's beautiful.
- 46:50Speaker 2: His name is Dan Mistilla, so he designed the cover.
- 46:54Speaker 2: I hired editors, I did, I'm doing all the marketing,
- 46:57Speaker 2: and so I just kind of decided to do it myself.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Reviews have been really great. It's a great summer read. Yes,
- 47:03Speaker 2: I'm super entertaining. It's not the kind of book that's
- 47:06Speaker 2: going to sit on your nightstand and like stare at
- 47:08Speaker 2: you for six months. Like it's the kind of book
- 47:10Speaker 2: that you're going to read on vacation. You're going to
- 47:12Speaker 2: read it on the plane, You're going to read it
- 47:13Speaker 2: over a weekend. It's a lot of fun.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I am taking the book to we have a beach ouse.
- 47:20Speaker 1: I'm going to take it there and leave it there
- 47:22Speaker 1: so that when people come, because it's I think it's
- 47:24Speaker 1: a great beach read. So when people come, because a
- 47:27Speaker 1: lot of times people will come to visit, they're like, oh,
- 47:28Speaker 1: I don't have anything to read, and I'm like, well,
- 47:30Speaker 1: I've got these choices, So I'm going to take it
- 47:32Speaker 1: because I think it's a great a beach read as well.
- 47:35Speaker 1: And I got to tell you, there is a little
- 47:37Speaker 1: bit of a horror to it, but it is it
- 47:41Speaker 1: is very tongue in cheek funny. I think.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Yeah, so there is definitely horror to it, but it's
- 47:46Speaker 2: not necessarily for people for that only like horror.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Like it's because it's campy.
- 47:52Speaker 2: It's super funny. Even you know, it's zombies, so you know, spoiler,
- 47:57Speaker 2: there's some blood and guts and zombies eat people like
- 48:00Speaker 2: this is what they do. This is what they do,
- 48:02Speaker 2: but I try to write it with a sense of humor.
- 48:06Speaker 2: And you know, the response has been really good. The
- 48:09Speaker 2: editorial reviews have been great, the reader reviews have been great.
- 48:12Speaker 2: It's growing. I'm hoping that it pops off. I appreciate
- 48:17Speaker 2: you having me on your shows to tell people about it.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, so yeah, so you can. You can buy
- 48:24Speaker 2: it online everywhere. You can go to my website jasonzeffor
- 48:28Speaker 2: dot com follow me at Jason's effort, but also go
- 48:31Speaker 2: to your local bookstore and ask for it, and if
- 48:34Speaker 2: they don't have it in stock, that lets them know
- 48:36Speaker 2: we need to order this. Because they can order it.
- 48:38Speaker 2: It's available for every bookstore to order. I have a
- 48:41Speaker 2: couple of meetings actually at the end of the week
- 48:43Speaker 2: for a couple of big stores in New York City
- 48:46Speaker 2: and so yeah, so I'm excited.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Well, you know, fun fact, I used to work at
- 48:52Speaker 1: a little local bookstore here in Alexandria, Virginia, and that
- 48:56Speaker 1: was like, there's a few favorite things about working there
- 48:58Speaker 1: because I worked my regular job and I worked that
- 49:00Speaker 1: part time and I was in my twenties, and my
- 49:03Speaker 1: favorite thing was on Sundays. The people that got the
- 49:05Speaker 1: New York Times would come in and get their New
- 49:07Speaker 1: York Times and read it in the store. They would sit, yeah,
- 49:11Speaker 1: and read it, because you couldn't really get New York
- 49:12Speaker 1: Times delivered to your house at that way back in
- 49:15Speaker 1: the olden days. And what I really love too is
- 49:18Speaker 1: people coming in and asking for books, and if we
- 49:20Speaker 1: didn't have them, you know, we'd have to go into
- 49:22Speaker 1: our system and order them for people. And then we
- 49:25Speaker 1: would always order three, right this person wants someone, now,
- 49:28Speaker 1: we'll have two on the shelf. And it was always
- 49:30Speaker 1: great because it was a way to find out about
- 49:32Speaker 1: books I didn't know about because someone had heard of
- 49:34Speaker 1: it some way and they wanted they wanted to get
- 49:37Speaker 1: it from the local bookstore. So I think that's a
- 49:39Speaker 1: that's a hot tip to go buy your local bookstore
- 49:41Speaker 1: and ask people to order it.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. And for the bookstores because I'm in contact
- 49:45Speaker 2: with like three large bookstores if they're listening to this,
- 49:49Speaker 2: carry my book because I'm doing interviews and I can
- 49:53Speaker 2: point people in to where they can buy the book
- 49:57Speaker 2: in New York City. So yeah, yeah, so buy the book,
- 50:00Speaker 2: stop the book, do the book.
- 50:02Speaker 1: And try to buy local if you can. I'm very
- 50:04Speaker 1: I'm very into local booksellers. Okay, thank you Jason very much,
- 50:07Speaker 1: and everybody go buy the book and I'll have his
- 50:10Speaker 1: Instagram link here in the show notes so you can
- 50:13Speaker 1: click it. It's very it's a good follow as well.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you so much, Mary Payne. Okay,
