• 2:10
Speaker 5: Good morning to you, and happy Veterans Day, and thank you.
• 2:15
Speaker 5: As a grateful citizen of a great country. I thank
• 2:18
Speaker 5: all the veterans for their service absolutely.
• 2:21
Speaker 3: And your father, of course almost almost gave the ultimate
• 2:25
Speaker 3: sacrifice for his country, as did so many other people.
• 2:29
  Speaker 4: He did.
• 2:30
Speaker 5: He's the greatest generation, you know. He left Mountsville, West Virginia,
• 2:33
Speaker 5: and got on a ship and deployed to Europe to
• 2:37
Speaker 5: really save democracy and freedom. And he was shot on
• 2:42
Speaker 5: November the twentieth, interestingly enough, which is my wedding anniversary.
• 2:45
Speaker 5: He was shot in the faith and recovered. But let
• 2:48
Speaker 5: me tell your listeners something I found interesting. If you
• 2:52
Speaker 5: go on to the National Archives site, you can actually
• 2:56
Speaker 5: find more veterans records. Sometimes you can't get, you know,
• 3:00
Speaker 5: and I got like his dental records and things like that,
• 3:03
Speaker 5: which were interesting because he was obviously shot in through
• 3:06
Speaker 5: the mouth and everything, things that I'd never seen before,
• 3:09
Speaker 5: so I would call my office. We can give you
• 3:11
Speaker 5: the links, and maybe I'll put that out today because
• 3:14
Speaker 5: I think it's a good way to find out some
• 3:16
Speaker 5: other information about our veterans who served long ago.
• 3:19
Speaker 3: Senator Kapito, you're getting a new tag team partner in Washington,
• 3:23
Speaker 3: and Governor Jim Justice will be taking over the seat
• 3:25
Speaker 3: held by for so long Senator Joe Manchin. You're a
• 3:27
Speaker 3: good friend. First time. I understand since around the Great
• 3:31
Speaker 3: Depression that West Virginia has had an all Republican delegation
• 3:35
Speaker 3: in Washington. Is that right?
• 3:37
Speaker 5: That is true. We have all of our members of Congress,
• 3:40
Speaker 5: Carol Miller and Riley Moore and me and Jim Justice
• 3:43
Speaker 5: will all go as a united front, and I'm excited
• 3:47
Speaker 5: about that. I talked to the governor just recently in
• 3:50
Speaker 5: the last couple of days, told him I'm excited to
• 3:52
Speaker 5: see him on Capitol Hill this week. We will be
• 3:54
Speaker 5: hitting the ground running. For sure, it'll be a different
• 3:57
Speaker 5: look for him, but it's excited to think that we've
• 4:01
Speaker 5: got so much in front of us, and I think
• 4:03
Speaker 5: so much hope and optimism, So it'll be great to
• 4:07
Speaker 5: be serving with all these folks I know very well,
• 4:10
Speaker 5: and I want to.
• 4:10
Speaker 3: Talk about what your role is going to be in
• 4:13
Speaker 3: Washington because with all of these changes. Of course, you
• 4:16
Speaker 3: know we're not up for election re election this year,
• 4:19
Speaker 3: but you're about to get some more it looks like anyway,
• 4:21
Speaker 3: about to get some more responsibilities.
• 4:24
Speaker 5: I'm going to have enormous responsibilities, and I embrace this.
• 4:27
Speaker 5: I think it's great for the state. I am running
• 4:30
Speaker 5: for the number four leadership slot of the Republicans, and
• 4:34
Speaker 5: of course we were going to be changing our main
• 4:36
Speaker 5: leaders as we move into that vote on Wednesday. But
• 4:40
Speaker 5: I'm also going to be chairing the Environment and Public
• 4:43
Speaker 5: Works Committee, which is EPA, Fish and Wildlife corp of Engineers,
• 4:47
Speaker 5: all the transportation issues. These are really important issues to
• 4:50
Speaker 5: West Virginia and to our energy development and permitting and
• 4:54
Speaker 5: coal and natural gas. So I'm going to be leading
• 4:56
Speaker 5: that committee, and I'm also going to be leading a
• 4:59
Speaker 5: subcommit on appropriations, which is health. This is another area
• 5:04
Speaker 5: that is it's health, education, and labors. These are important
• 5:08
Speaker 5: issues for West Virginia, rural healthcare, rural delivery systems. To
• 5:13
Speaker 5: make sure that we're meeting the issues of the drug crisis,
• 5:17
Speaker 5: all these funding issues that are extremely important, and just
• 5:21
Speaker 5: overall being on the Appropriations Committee, We've got to start
• 5:24
Speaker 5: raining our spending in and I'm sure President Trump will
• 5:26
Speaker 5: be leading the way on that.
• 5:28
Speaker 3: And I want to ask you about the President before
• 5:30
Speaker 3: we let you the President elect, before I let you go,
• 5:32
Speaker 3: because I know you have a heart out. As we
• 5:34
Speaker 3: say in the business, it was not only a Donald
• 5:37
Speaker 3: Trump win on Tuesday night, Senator, it was a huge
• 5:40
  Speaker 3: Donald Trump win.
• 5:42
Speaker 5: It was a romp And I think I try to
• 5:46
Speaker 5: boil it down in the most simplest terms. I think
• 5:50
Speaker 5: going to the grocery store myself, I can see people
• 5:53
Speaker 5: when we talk all the time. I think it's when
• 5:56
Speaker 5: the people got to the register at the grocery store,
• 5:59
Speaker 5: especially those that are struggling and that have young families
• 6:02
Speaker 5: that have to feed a lot of people, and they
• 6:04
Speaker 5: saw their grocery bill going up and up and up,
• 6:07
Speaker 5: and Vice President Harris and President Biden are saying the
• 6:10
Speaker 5: economy's great, everything's good. They say to themselves, I need
• 6:14
Speaker 5: a change. And she never really presented a good alternative.
• 6:18
Speaker 5: And Donald Trump told us everything he was going to do,
• 6:21
Speaker 5: bring down inflation, curb illegal immigration, which is another huge issue.
• 6:27
Speaker 5: I cannot, for the life of me figure out why
• 6:29
Speaker 5: the Biden administration led ten million people, and I kept
• 6:31
Speaker 5: carping and carping and carping about it. And so I
• 6:35
Speaker 5: think Donald Trump owns this and it's his world now,
• 6:40
Speaker 5: and I look forward to supporting his policies and him
• 6:43
Speaker 5: and I think it's going to be a very busy
• 6:46
Speaker 5: and fast moving administration.
• 6:49
Speaker 3: And I realized, you know, on the campaign trail and
• 6:51
Speaker 3: even before the campaign started, that Donald Trump made a
• 6:54
Speaker 3: lot of promises of things that he wanted to do. Okay,
• 6:57
Speaker 3: he got the mandate. It wasn't even close, So it's
• 7:00
Speaker 3: time to get to work if we're going to get
• 7:02
  Speaker 3: these things done.
• 7:03
Speaker 5: Well, the good news for him and for us is
• 7:06
Speaker 5: in the country that gave him this mandate is we
• 7:09
Speaker 5: also got leadership of the Senate, and it appears as
• 7:12
Speaker 5: though we're going to keep the majority in the House.
• 7:14
Speaker 5: That helps, that helps a president put forward their agenda.
• 7:19
Speaker 5: And I hope that the Democrats and the Senate will
• 7:22
Speaker 5: join us together on bipartisan issues where we can work together,
• 7:25
Speaker 5: because we've got a lot of problems to solve.
• 7:27
Speaker 3: All right, Senator Capitau, I know you're out on the road,
• 7:29
Speaker 3: and I know you've got a lot of things to do.
• 7:30
Speaker 3: I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to
• 7:32
Speaker 3: be here. We'll talk soon. Thanks a lot.
• 7:34
Speaker 5: Always great to be on and next time I'll come
• 7:36
Speaker 5: back to the studio.
• 7:37
Speaker 3: All right, sounds good. You got to come see the
• 7:39
Speaker 3: all new digs here. It's all news since you were
• 7:41
Speaker 3: here last time. So you got to see the right
• 7:43
Speaker 3: and please bring us a fruit basket or something. It's
• 7:46
Speaker 3: just you know, it's the thing to do. Okay, it
• 7:48
Speaker 3: will do it all right, So you're Sheldy Moore Capito.
• 7:51
Speaker 3: Appreciate you being here. It's nine to fifteen. In the
• 7:53
Speaker 3: heart of West Virginia, there exist a profound force that
• 7:55
Speaker 3: goes beyond the realm of sports, transcending limitations and fostering

Speaker 3: my good friend Scott Edwards, that said, now, this was

Speaker 4: if you remember August twenty sixth first, the week high
• 15:05
Speaker 4: school football when he began. What happened was there was
• 15:09
Speaker 4: a ruling and Border of View got involved and they
• 15:11
Speaker 4: dropped down twenty three teams that each dropped down a class.
• 15:15
Speaker 4: But by then football was getting ready to start. Seasons
• 15:17
Speaker 4: were underway, so they had to come up with a
• 15:20
Speaker 4: rating system that said, hey, if you were a quad
• 15:23
Speaker 4: A school Capital Saint Albans or now you're going to
• 15:27
Speaker 4: be a triple A school and you'll get give triple
• 15:30
Speaker 4: A points, not Quada points. Even though you're on the schedule,
• 15:33
Speaker 4: say for a Huntington or whoever that's a quadi school,
• 15:36
Speaker 4: thinking you're going to get quada points. You don't get
• 15:38
Speaker 4: triple A points. That was a problem. Okay, so yesterday
• 15:42
Speaker 4: you had to go from well for one thirty five
• 15:45
Speaker 4: Saturday until about seven o'clock Saturday night. Bryce cast you
• 15:48
Speaker 4: know Bryce, he's the guy that does all the ratings
• 15:51
Speaker 4: and all of that.
• 15:51
Speaker 10: He had to really really.
• 15:53
Speaker 4: Bust his tail to go back and figure out what
• 15:55
Speaker 4: the ratings should be now. And that's what they went
• 15:58
Speaker 4: off of yesterday in the meetings, and the biggest changes
• 16:02
Speaker 4: was a lot of shifting as far as positions in
• 16:06
Speaker 4: the playoffs, the top sixteen. But there were four teams
• 16:09
Speaker 4: that went to bed on let's say Friday night after
• 16:14
Speaker 4: the games in the playoffs. They woke up Sunday morning,
• 16:17
Speaker 4: they're out of the playoffs. Four teams and who.
• 16:21
Speaker 3: Are those four teams. Okay, west Side was one, right.
• 16:23
Speaker 10: West Side was one, Saint Mary's was one.
• 16:26
  Speaker 3: Tulsa.
• 16:28
Speaker 10: Tulsa was in on it also, Oh.
• 16:32
  Speaker 4: I have it, I have it, I have it. I
• 16:34
Speaker 4: came prepared, okay. And the other team that was bumped
• 16:39
Speaker 4: out was Hampshire. Hampshire, well Hampshire and Point Pleasant was
• 16:43
Speaker 4: bumped out. Tulsa was not bumped out. Okay, okay, it
• 16:45
Speaker 4: was Hampshire, Point Pleasant, West Side and Saint Mary's. That's
• 16:50
  Speaker 4: the team's okay.
• 16:52
  Speaker 10: Now.
• 16:52
Speaker 4: The bad thing that really shows up here is the
• 16:54
Speaker 4: fact that in triple A, okay, in class Triple A,
• 16:58
Speaker 4: Point Pleasant was bumped out. Hampshire was bumped out. They
• 17:02
Speaker 4: were fifteen and sixteen by the.
• 17:06
Speaker 10: New ratings, so you had to go back to the
• 17:08
  Speaker 10: old ratings.
• 17:09
Speaker 4: The teams that finished twenty fourth and twenty fifth made
• 17:13
Speaker 4: it back into the top sixteen. Capital they went from
• 17:17
Speaker 4: twenty four to number ten.
• 17:21
Speaker 3: With all due respect to the Cougars, I not deserving
• 17:24
Speaker 3: to be in the top sixteen. Come on, exactly old,
• 17:27
Speaker 3: but it gets worse, it gets worse now.
• 17:29
Speaker 10: Yes, Saints Albans uh huh.
• 17:31
Speaker 4: They had a record of three and seven. They went
• 17:33
Speaker 4: from number twenty five to number fifteen. Now the bad
• 17:37
Speaker 4: part about when you look at schedules. Lincoln in class
• 17:41
Speaker 4: double A. Okay, they went from being out of the
• 17:45
Speaker 4: playoffs at sixteen into the playoffs at out of the
• 17:49
Speaker 4: playoffs at seventeen, into the playoffs at sixteen. They have
• 17:52
Speaker 4: a record of three and seven. West Side was in
• 17:55
Speaker 4: at sixteen, they're out. They had a record of seven
• 17:58
Speaker 4: and three. Well, this makes perfect That make perfect sense now.
• 18:01
Speaker 4: And I happen to know the coach of Westside very well.
• 18:04
  Speaker 10: His great guy.
• 18:05
Speaker 3: Well, he's a great player back for the and his
• 18:08
Speaker 3: father and I are the same age. That's how you
• 18:10
Speaker 3: know you're getting old when you make comments. But his
• 18:12
Speaker 3: father and I are the same age. And I know
• 18:14
Speaker 3: justin he's a quality young man. He'll do great things
• 18:16
Speaker 3: with that program. But he's got a reason Fred to
• 18:18
Speaker 3: be upset here, he and the others. I just happen
• 18:21
  Speaker 3: to know him.
• 18:21
Speaker 10: Yeah, he does. Indeed.
• 18:22
Speaker 4: In fact, let's be fair here that I don't think
• 18:25
Speaker 4: there's letting the cat out of the bag. There's going
• 18:28
Speaker 4: to be an injunction file tomorrow morning. Can't do it
• 18:30
Speaker 4: today because it's a holiday. At this day, they'll do
• 18:32
Speaker 4: it tomorrow morning. Where's this go is the big thing?
• 18:36
Speaker 4: I've been told the injunction is going to be filed,
• 18:39
Speaker 4: and he's going to be filed in front of a
• 18:40
Speaker 4: Wyoming County judge. What do you think the Wyoming County
• 18:42
Speaker 4: judge is going to do?
• 18:43
  Speaker 3: Oh?
• 18:43
Speaker 10: Yeah, okay, because they are elected official.
• 18:45
Speaker 4: Sure, so then that what happens is you have an
• 18:48
Speaker 4: injunction that will be in play from Wood County from Saturday,
• 18:52
Speaker 4: an injunction that will be in play from Wyoming County tomorrow.
• 18:56
Speaker 4: That gives you two injunctions that are both in playin say, see,
• 19:00
Speaker 4: by law cannot pick which one they want to use.
• 19:03
Speaker 4: So you got to go to a higher court. This
• 19:05
Speaker 4: is going to go to the Supreme the Supreme Court,
• 19:07
Speaker 4: which is not in session. They're not not supposed to
• 19:11
Speaker 4: be in session to again until January ninth or something.
• 19:14
Speaker 10: However, they can come in on an emergency basis.
• 19:17
Speaker 4: This would certainly entail an emergency basis because look what
• 19:21
Speaker 4: you're doing, I mean you are you are just upsetting
• 19:25
Speaker 4: everything that goes forward in high school sports, not only football.
• 19:29
Speaker 4: How many of these kids playing football play basketball?
• 19:32
  Speaker 10: Six yeah?
• 19:33
Speaker 4: Probably the girls basketball season practice starts today, so it's here,
• 19:38
Speaker 4: so they can't and is the University of Charleston Stadium
• 19:41
Speaker 4: going to be available. I think if you increase it,
• 19:43
Speaker 4: if you push it back one week, which is what
• 19:45
Speaker 4: we're hoping for, they're not going to play this week.
• 19:47
Speaker 4: They're just not this This day spent in Parkersburg yesterday.
• 19:52
Speaker 10: What a waste. What a waste?
• 19:54
Speaker 4: Okay, because they will I think, I think go back
• 19:57
Speaker 4: to the way it was when we started the football season. Okay,
• 20:02
Speaker 4: all of the ratings and that puts west Side back in.
• 20:06
Speaker 4: That's going to take Capital, Saint Alban's out, gonna take
• 20:08
Speaker 4: Lincoln out, so on and so forth.
• 20:10
Speaker 10: Hampshire would get back in.
• 20:11
Speaker 4: Hampshire's never been in the Football Championships and the playoffs.
• 20:14
Speaker 4: They were in this year until this new moving came out.
• 20:18
Speaker 3: They were in twenty they were in for twenty minutes.
• 20:20
  Speaker 3: Twenty minutes.
• 20:20
Speaker 10: That's it true out.
• 20:21
Speaker 4: So I think I think what will happen is they're
• 20:24
Speaker 4: going to postpone everything, maybe a week. I think the
• 20:27
Speaker 4: Supreme Court will get to it quickly, I really do
• 20:30
Speaker 4: because it does affect a lot of things. And found
• 20:33
Speaker 4: out yesterday that the SSAC has had to be had
• 20:36
Speaker 4: to present things before the Supreme Court five other times,
• 20:39
Speaker 4: and their record with the Supreme Court is five and zero.
• 20:43
Speaker 4: Supreme Court says, hey, lower court rulings, stay out of it.
• 20:48
Speaker 4: Because SSAC is a private entity. The schools do not
• 20:51
Speaker 4: have to be a member of the SSAC. That's a
• 20:54
Speaker 4: volunteer organization. You can still play a season, you just
• 20:57
Speaker 4: can't qualify for the playoffs if you're not a man
• 21:00
Speaker 4: for the SSAC, because it's the SSAC who puts on
• 21:03
Speaker 4: the player. Sure, so that's the way that goes. And
• 21:05
  Speaker 4: I think that's what's going to happen. I think we're
• 21:07
Speaker 4: going to lose a week. I think nobody plays this week,
• 21:11
Speaker 4: which should make game night really fun. Friday night can't wait.
• 21:15
Speaker 4: But again, you know, let the adults stay out of it.
• 21:19
Speaker 4: Please let it be about what it's supposed to be about,
• 21:22
Speaker 4: and that's the kids.
• 21:23
Speaker 3: So what does this all have to do with volleyball?
• 21:26
Speaker 3: How did volleyball get in this? I mean, because they've
• 21:29
Speaker 3: all started this thing. There were five injunctions in Class A.
• 21:32
Speaker 3: Volleyball five five one is being heard tomorrow morning at
• 21:35
Speaker 3: eight am and Romney okay, so it was too close
• 21:38
Speaker 3: to the start volleyball tournament is here.
• 21:41
Speaker 4: The state championship start this week. So Class single a
• 21:44
Speaker 4: volleyball postponed, don't know when it'll be played.
• 21:47
  Speaker 10: Don't know when.
• 21:48
Speaker 4: All of those young ladies that work so hard thinking
• 21:51
Speaker 4: they were going to go to a state championship this
• 21:53
Speaker 4: week in Charleston, with all the hooplaw around the state tournament,
• 21:56
Speaker 4: you've been there. They're sitting at home with you in
• 21:59
Speaker 4: Class single at there. They're not going don't know when
• 22:02
Speaker 4: they'll go, hopefully soon. But you've got these buildings that
• 22:06
Speaker 4: have other things going. Yeah, you're getting into basketball. See
• 22:09
Speaker 4: here in this basketball season, Charleston Coliseum stays busy all
• 22:12
Speaker 4: your time. Absolutely, the University of Charleston Ladleyfield, University of
• 22:17
Speaker 4: Charleston Mountain Lions are in the D two playoffs. They
• 22:21
Speaker 4: play at that place. So do you have if you
• 22:24
Speaker 4: move it back a week, are you gonna have to
• 22:26
Speaker 4: change the times you're gonna play your games?
• 22:28
Speaker 10: All of that is up in the area.
• 22:30
Speaker 3: How could this Fred, and and I know that you're
• 22:32
Speaker 3: you're the journalist and all this and you're trying to
• 22:34
Speaker 3: keep it austraight, but how could all of this simply
• 22:37
Speaker 3: have been avoided by Honestly, and.
• 22:40
Speaker 4: I've said this many many times, West Virginia is not
• 22:42
Speaker 4: a big enough state for four classes. Have we been
• 22:45
Speaker 4: triple A, double A, single A, none of this would
• 22:48
Speaker 4: have happened. It would not have happened. We when we
• 22:52
Speaker 4: triple AUA A single A. You'd hear people complaining. Coaches
• 22:55
Speaker 4: would complain about, oh man, I'm in triple A or
• 22:57
  Speaker 4: I'm in i ain't got a chance. And they always
• 22:59
Speaker 4: complained about what the private schools worked all of that out.
• 23:02
Speaker 10: They complained, but they never went to court.
• 23:06
Speaker 4: They just played. Now it's hey, you smacked me too hard.
• 23:09
Speaker 4: I'm going to take you to court. That's our problem today.
• 23:12
Speaker 3: Well, that's that's and that's not confined to the today
• 23:15
  Speaker 3: athletic career.
• 23:16
Speaker 4: No, you're exactly right, but that's the problem. Uh you
• 23:19
Speaker 4: know my I said yesterday, let's forget the whole thing,
• 23:22
Speaker 4: give everybody a trophy and let's all go.
• 23:24
Speaker 3: Well, that would be the twenty twenty four way to
• 23:26
  Speaker 3: do it.
• 23:26
Speaker 4: The way everybody I think it gets worked out. But
• 23:29
  Speaker 4: I do think there's a week that we're going to
• 23:32
Speaker 4: get an extra week off, which is not good. But
• 23:35
Speaker 4: if it is and we just get back to playing
• 23:37
  Speaker 4: next weekend.
• 23:38
Speaker 3: Okay, in high school game night this Friday, n would
• 23:40
Speaker 3: be Fred talking about his garden.
• 23:41
Speaker 4: Yes, and uh, Dave Allen will be on to tell
• 23:44
Speaker 4: me about all the good things going on wherever he
• 23:46
Speaker 4: wants to talk about he wants.
• 23:48
Speaker 3: You know what I thought about it right now, don't
• 23:49
Speaker 3: give me that option. I thought about.
• 23:51
Speaker 4: Opening it up to the general public, but I thought, no,
• 23:54
Speaker 4: that eight second delay might not.
• 23:55
Speaker 3: Be you know, eight minute delay. Yeah, all right, Fred,
• 24:00
Speaker 3: it's of high school sports in West Virginia. I appreciate
• 24:02
Speaker 3: you being here, man, Thanks a lot.
• 24:03
  Speaker 10: Anytime.
• 24:03
Speaker 3: It's about as clear as mud right now. Yes, I'm
• 24:06
Speaker 3: I'm glad I came in and that up. I'm glad you.
• 24:08
Speaker 3: I feel like one of those guys with the whiteboards,
• 24:10
Speaker 3: you know, on election night. You know this has got
• 24:12
Speaker 3: to happen, and this has got to happen, except we
• 24:13
  Speaker 3: don't have a white board.
• 24:14
Speaker 9: I feel for all the.
• 24:15
Speaker 4: People that really involved, but not directly because of these injunctions.
• 24:19
Speaker 10: They're just sitting there.
• 24:20
Speaker 4: And you know that if the new if the new
• 24:24
Speaker 4: ratings go back into effect, and I think they will
• 24:26
Speaker 4: be a lot of teams that were hosting is not
• 24:29
Speaker 4: going to be hosting. Now they're gonna be on the road,
• 24:31
Speaker 4: so it's all kind of a mess.
• 24:33
  Speaker 10: All right.
• 24:33
Speaker 3: Well, Fred, and and everybody else here is keeping a
• 24:36

• 28:44
Speaker 3: kids created by their wait for it Boomer generation parents.
• 28:48
Speaker 3: How come old people always complained about the results of
• 28:50
Speaker 3: their choices. I've said this all along. People that and
• 28:54
Speaker 3: myself included, want to crap on these kids today. Well,
• 28:57
Speaker 3: somebody had to raise these kids. And I'm a gen
• 28:59
Speaker 3: X guy, and uh you know I didn't have kids,
• 29:02
Speaker 3: but uh, you know somebody had to raise them. So
• 29:05
Speaker 3: to blame just the generation. I think sometimes and I've
• 29:08
Speaker 3: done it plenty of times, myself is a little short
• 29:11

• 29:17

• 29:20
Speaker 3: I'm doing well. Thank you for having me on. I
• 29:21
Speaker 3: had and I got Commissioner commission President Lance Wheeler. You
• 29:24
Speaker 3: guys were talking in the green room, and I appreciate
• 29:26
Speaker 3: you kind of. We had to move some schedules around
• 29:28
Speaker 3: to accommodate Fred this morning, and everybody just says, this
• 29:30
Speaker 3: whole thing's a mess, and we're not going to get
• 29:32
Speaker 3: into it with you, but this whole playoff thing is
• 29:34
  Speaker 3: a mess.
• 29:35
Speaker 14: It is a total mess, and it's been a disaster,
• 29:37
Speaker 14: it looks like, from the start till now, and hopefully
• 29:39
Speaker 14: we can get it resolved moving forward.
• 29:41
Speaker 3: Fred seems to think that they'll take this week off
• 29:43
Speaker 3: and maybe have it resolved by next week. That's what
• 29:45
Speaker 3: he said. Well, I think we need to sort of
• 29:46
Speaker 3: revamp everything. Oh yeah, yeah, I'm talking about short.
• 29:49
Speaker 14: Term, short short term, but long term. I think that's
• 29:51
Speaker 14: what we've got to get to fix.
• 29:52
Speaker 3: In let's talk about your campaign you won. Congratulations, Thank you.
• 29:55
Speaker 3: I appreciate congratulation. It was a hard campaign for you,
• 29:58
  Speaker 3: Yes it was.
• 29:58
Speaker 14: We worked really hard, knocked a lot of doors who
• 30:01
Speaker 14: were out meeting constituents, so but we pulled it through.
• 30:05
Speaker 3: What was it about your message, delicate lewis that you
• 30:09
Speaker 3: think resonated with people of your district.
• 30:11
Speaker 14: Well, again, you know, we're all politicians. I know sometimes
• 30:13
Speaker 14: people run away from that, but once you.
• 30:16
Speaker 3: Sign your name, once you sign your name on the line,
• 30:19
Speaker 3: you are a politicolitician.
• 30:21
  Speaker 10: Okay.
• 30:21
Speaker 14: However, I've been doing work in these communities for years now.
• 30:24
Speaker 14: You know, I've been a coach at South Charleston High School,
• 30:26
Speaker 14: Dunbar Middle South of South Charleston Youth. I've been an
• 30:29
Speaker 14: advocate and just been in the community for a long time.
• 30:32
Speaker 14: So a lot of people already were familiar with the
• 30:34
Speaker 14: work that I had previously done. So when they see
• 30:36
Speaker 14: me on a campaign trail and again I was out
• 30:38
Speaker 14: in the streets meeting constituents, just letting them know who
• 30:40
Speaker 14: I am. And I have a people first, community first
• 30:43
Speaker 14: mindset when it comes to campaigning and running.
• 30:46
Speaker 3: Overall, and I know you would admit this. I'm gonna
• 30:48
Speaker 3: gouldn't say the obvious here, Delegate, it was not a
• 30:51
Speaker 3: good night for for Democrats in West Virginia. Uh and
• 30:55
Speaker 3: and across the country for that matter too.
• 30:57
  Speaker 10: Uh.
• 30:57
Speaker 3: But the area dead up to a there, I mean
• 31:00
Speaker 3: the Kenov out it did op to elect not only you,
• 31:03
Speaker 3: but also Delegate Kaylee Young will be on the show
• 31:06
Speaker 3: I don't know one day this week, and also a
• 31:09
Speaker 3: delegate Democratic Party chair Mike Pushkin. So you're a survivor.
• 31:14
Speaker 3: That's one way of looking at it.
• 31:16
Speaker 14: But you know, like I said, it wasn't But like
• 31:18
Speaker 14: I said, we got to go back to the drawing
• 31:20
Speaker 14: board and we got work to do in order to
• 31:21
Speaker 14: get people entos and get people back voting.
• 31:25
Speaker 3: So what's that we're going to entail because I'll tell
• 31:26
Speaker 3: you why yesterday. I'm kind of a Sunday morning news junkie.
• 31:29
Speaker 3: I watch a lot of these shows. And I watched
• 31:32
Speaker 3: on Jonathan Carl's show yesterday this week and Donnasa or
• 31:35
Speaker 3: Donna Brazil talking. I watched Chris Steierwaldt, you know West
• 31:38
Speaker 3: Virginia native who has the show The Hill Sunday, and
• 31:41
Speaker 3: they all talked about that all of the mistakes that
• 31:44
Speaker 3: were made on the national level. You're not responsible for
• 31:46
Speaker 3: that on the national level from the Democratic Party. And
• 31:50
Speaker 3: it used to be the Democratic Party was the party
• 31:52
Speaker 3: of the working people. Many people say it is, but
• 31:54
Speaker 3: it doesn't seem like the voters. If that's the case,
• 31:58
Speaker 3: Hollis that the voters aren't getting that man message and.
• 32:02
Speaker 14: That and that very well could be true. So I
• 32:04
Speaker 14: think number one, we have to work on messaging.
• 32:06
Speaker 3: Right. We can't talk at people. We have to talk
• 32:08
  Speaker 3: to people.
• 32:09
Speaker 14: And we have to be more cognizance of the thing
• 32:11
Speaker 14: that people care about, you know, not only here locally
• 32:14
Speaker 14: but nationally. Right, we have to you know, get new
• 32:17
Speaker 14: leadership far as just from the ground up. So and
• 32:21
Speaker 14: I think Tommy matter if you're looking at a national campaign,
• 32:24
Speaker 14: if you look at a presidential campaign, I don't think
• 32:26
Speaker 14: VP Harris had enough time to actually run a thorough campaign.
• 32:30
Speaker 14: So it was a lot of factors that went into
• 32:32
Speaker 14: sort of the loss. And unfortunately when it comes to Democrats,
• 32:35
Speaker 14: I would say even Republicans.
• 32:36
Speaker 3: Two things that tend to work from top down. Yeah,
• 32:38
Speaker 3: no matter what the party is again, we're talking with
• 32:40
Speaker 3: that will get Hollis Lewisa, Dave Alan Chow and five

• 33:00
Speaker 3: I'm gonna go ahead and get into something. You know,
• 33:02
Speaker 3: I don't want to bring up any ill will or whatever,
• 33:06
Speaker 3: but your opponent on the show or not on the show,
• 33:10
Speaker 3: and the campaigner should say set on this show. Talking
• 33:13
Speaker 3: about Mark Carter, Republican challenger, he challenged some things about you,
• 33:16
Speaker 3: including saying or implying that maybe you supported a defund
• 33:21
Speaker 3: the police movement. Would you like to comment on them?
• 33:23
Speaker 14: Yeah, I would, And you know, all respect to mister Carter.
• 33:26
Speaker 14: That's totally ridiculous. I've said even when that slogan was
• 33:29
Speaker 14: popular a few years ago, it was silly. And my
• 33:32
Speaker 14: day job, I'm a CIT crisis ANVINCY Team director. I
• 33:34
Speaker 14: work with law enforcement every single day in order to
• 33:37
Speaker 14: help facilitate those trainings for twenty first century problems. So
• 33:41
Speaker 14: we don't need to defund the police. We need to
• 33:43
Speaker 14: actually look at their budgets and see how we can
• 33:45
Speaker 14: actually get more funding for trainings like cit mental health
• 33:49
Speaker 14: first or the twenty first century policing. So you know,
• 33:53
Speaker 14: I'm on the groundworking, So even to imply that about
• 33:56
  Speaker 14: me is ridiculous.
• 33:57
Speaker 3: And it goes from my work.
• 33:58
Speaker 14: As a magistrate judge working on the parole board to
• 34:01
Speaker 14: an adjunct professional criminal justice. I work with law enforcement
• 34:05
Speaker 14: every single day, and I want to see improvements not
• 34:08
Speaker 14: only to their training, but just to you know, even
• 34:11
  Speaker 14: their own mental health because it's a it's a very
• 34:13
Speaker 14: difficult job for our first responders, in our law enforcement personnel.
• 34:17
Speaker 3: So that's that's a hard note from you, Superno.
• 34:21
Speaker 14: And again, this is something I've said for years, not
• 34:23
Speaker 14: just I'm not saying it just now. I'm saying that,
• 34:26
Speaker 14: you know, five six years ago, when that was a
• 34:27
Speaker 14: popular thing to say and it was ridiculous, then it's
• 34:30
Speaker 14: ridiculous now, all right.
• 34:32
Speaker 3: Talking to Hollis Lewis again, who was reelected last week
• 34:35
Speaker 3: to the House of Delegates a district fifty seven. So
• 34:38
Speaker 3: we have interims going on right now. What's that look
• 34:41
  Speaker 3: like for you?
• 34:42
  Speaker 2: Oh?
• 34:42
Speaker 14: You know, I had we had several meetings yesterday, a
• 34:44
Speaker 14: couple of meetings today, So we're just getting information, you know,
• 34:48
Speaker 14: some very actually good information and just seeing if that's
• 34:51
Speaker 14: gonna be applicable or something we can do.
• 34:53
Speaker 3: One session starts, yeah, I know, and we've got stories
• 34:55
Speaker 3: up about it on the website wv metro News dot com,
• 34:57
Speaker 3: so you may want to go check out what's going on.
• 34:59
Speaker 3: And they continue I think through tomorrow. I think, is
• 35:01
Speaker 3: that right? What's the new session look like for you?
• 35:05
Speaker 3: With the with the new members coming in, there'll be
• 35:07
Speaker 3: some new members coming in, some familiar faces coming. Are
• 35:09
Speaker 3: you already looking I know you're always looking ahead, sir,
• 35:12
Speaker 3: but what are you looking at? What are you looking at?
• 35:14
Speaker 3: Wanting to get accomplished? Oh, it's several things I want
• 35:17
  Speaker 3: to get accomplished.
• 35:18
  Speaker 7: You know.
• 35:18
Speaker 14: Again, this campaign sorted to that was sort of my focus.
• 35:21
Speaker 14: So you know, we want to look at you know,
• 35:23
Speaker 14: obviously my expertise will be in criminal just so I
• 35:25
Speaker 14: want to look at issues around that to see how
• 35:27
Speaker 14: we can improve our systems in holistic you know, holistically.
• 35:32
Speaker 14: And also you know, like I said, it's going to
• 35:33
Speaker 14: be a new session. It's a lot of new faces,
• 35:35
Speaker 14: so it's going to be interesting to see how this
• 35:38
Speaker 14: you know, upcoming session goes, and.
• 35:40
Speaker 3: Of course what's what's been on a lot of people's minds,
• 35:42
Speaker 3: both Republican and Democrat, has been the childcare crisis in
• 35:45
Speaker 3: West Virginia. And you, because of your experience Dell to
• 35:49
Speaker 3: Gate have U in your personal life and and well
• 35:52
Speaker 3: your professional life, I should say you've seen a lot
• 35:54
Speaker 3: of this firsthand because as a magistrate you saw you
• 35:57
Speaker 3: eventually see the childcare issue and whatever manifests themselves in
• 36:02
  Speaker 3: the court system.
• 36:02
Speaker 14: Yeah, I've done ratifications. Unfortunately, I've had to look at
• 36:06
Speaker 14: some you know, even on the parole board, I've had
• 36:07
Speaker 14: to you know, read some very terrible things. So I
• 36:10
Speaker 14: think what we have to look at is not only
• 36:12
Speaker 14: you know, we have to see what we can actually
• 36:15
Speaker 14: do for DHHR and our cp CPS personnel, to see
• 36:19
Speaker 14: how we can get them better training, to see how
• 36:20
Speaker 14: we can provide them more tools to see a better pathology.
• 36:23
Speaker 14: Just once the kid has decided to be taken out
• 36:26
Speaker 14: of the home that they're just not placing the hotel
• 36:28
Speaker 14: placed in Falster care about how we can get kinship
• 36:30
Speaker 14: relationships going. So I think we're going to have to
• 36:33
Speaker 14: consider reworking the whole system in order to alleviate our
• 36:37
  Speaker 14: falster care problem.
• 36:38
Speaker 3: Uh so one wanted man to point out that you
• 36:39
Speaker 3: stuff some signs up out there, sir, Yeah, I'm getting them.
• 36:42
  Speaker 3: I'm getting them.
• 36:43
  Speaker 14: It's been a busy it's been a busy week, so
• 36:45
Speaker 14: I will get to them. That's what one of the
• 36:48
Speaker 14: plans for today is.
• 36:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, what head to dounebar.

Speaker 14: this belief in me to vote for me, all my
• 37:43

• 37:46
Speaker 14: you run a campaign, when you run a thorough campaign,
• 37:48
Speaker 14: you are not doing this by yourself.
• 37:49
  Speaker 3: This isn't a solo mission.
• 37:50
Speaker 14: This is a team effort, including the voters as you know,
• 37:53
Speaker 14: being part of my team. So again, all the people
• 37:55
Speaker 14: that I knocked on your door early in the morning
• 37:58
Speaker 14: or in the evening to disturb you, apologize, But I
• 38:01
Speaker 14: thank you for being gracious and allowed me, you know,
• 38:03

• 38:05
Speaker 14: So again I want to thank again my caucus of
• 38:09

• 38:11
Speaker 14: even to you, thank you for this platform.

Speaker 3: Formerhead of his campaign in West Virginia, Currency Senator Mike
• 41:18
Speaker 3: Stewart will be on the show tomorrow. Also, another winner
• 41:21
Speaker 3: from last week's election, Delicate jb Akers, will be on
• 41:23
Speaker 3: the show tomorrow as well. And also John Robertson will
• 41:28
Speaker 3: be on the show tomorrow as well because we have
• 41:30
Speaker 3: the Capital City arsen Crafts show coming to the Kyle
• 41:33
Speaker 3: Seemic Convention Center this weekend, so John will join us
• 41:36
Speaker 3: to talk about that. Coming up on tomorrow's show let's
• 41:38
Speaker 3: welcome to now kenaw Ant Commission President Lance Wheeler.
• 41:41
Speaker 9: How you doing, man, doing well? How are you doing?
• 41:42
  Speaker 10: Dam doing fine?
• 41:43
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. In the new year, you're
• 41:46
Speaker 3: gonna have a new commission member, of course, mister Kentcarper
• 41:49
Speaker 3: resigned earlier this year. He was replaced by Mark Slotnik.
• 41:52
Speaker 3: Mission Slocknik opting not to run. And then last week
• 41:55
Speaker 3: a hard fought battle between Democrat Natalie Tenant making history
• 41:58
Speaker 3: as the first female member of the Canawah County Commission,
• 42:02
Speaker 3: and she defeats not my a whole lot, but she
• 42:03
Speaker 3: did defeat Republican Chris Walters. So you got a new
• 42:06
Speaker 3: person sitting up there at the desk with you and
• 42:08
  Speaker 3: mister Slango.
• 42:09
Speaker 17: Isn't that exciting? It's exciting to have somebody new on
• 42:11
Speaker 17: the County Commission. You know, when I ran in twenty twenty,
• 42:14
Speaker 17: I said I wanted to come with new ideas and
• 42:15
Speaker 17: a fresh perspective. And it's going to be about four
• 42:18
Speaker 17: years now that I've been County Commissioner, and so having
• 42:20
Speaker 17: somebody come in with that new perspective of what we've
• 42:23
Speaker 17: done just within the last four years and offering new ideas,
• 42:27
Speaker 17: I'm excited to work with her and see where she
• 42:29
Speaker 17: wants to really show her value with the county, in
• 42:32
Speaker 17: the community, and what she wants to do and his
• 42:34
Speaker 17: sister if we you know, if we agree. You know,
• 42:36
Speaker 17: you had her on here and you said, it's a
• 42:38
Speaker 17: little different when you have Commissioner Slango, Commissioner Wheeler, and
• 42:41
Speaker 17: Commissioner Tenant. We all have to agree on something, and
• 42:44
Speaker 17: I think we're going to. We've always had that ability
• 42:47
Speaker 17: to work well with each other, and so I'm excited
• 42:50
Speaker 17: to bring her on see what she wants to do
• 42:52
Speaker 17: and how we can help facilitate that.
• 42:54
Speaker 3: You're out numbered now as far as the party goes.
• 42:56
Speaker 3: You realize that, right, I've always been out numbered, that's true.
• 43:00
  Speaker 3: Think about that.
• 43:00
Speaker 17: But you know I was talking to Hollis Delitt, Hollis
• 43:02
Speaker 17: just out there while we were waiting for him to
• 43:04
Speaker 17: come on, and I said, look, you know what you
• 43:06
Speaker 17: need to do is find that common ground, find that
• 43:09
Speaker 17: common ground that you can both agree on and work
• 43:11
Speaker 17: on that project. And that's what's going to help our community,
• 43:14
Speaker 17: help our state. Uh That's what I've done. You know,
• 43:17
Speaker 17: I have been out numbered, but you've never seen me
• 43:19
Speaker 17: stop doing a project. Whether it's the hat film McCoy's,
• 43:21
Speaker 17: whether it's water projects, whether it's investing our parks and
• 43:25
Speaker 17: rec and our businesses, supporting our communities, supporting the Sheriff's office.
• 43:30
Speaker 17: You know a lot of these are not really a
• 43:32
Speaker 17: bipartisan issues that we run into the County Commission, so
• 43:36
Speaker 17: we work well together. I'm going to continue to do
• 43:38
Speaker 17: that as with Natalie one, and I'm excited to see
• 43:41
Speaker 17: again what ideas she's going to bring to the table
• 43:43
Speaker 17: and how we can work the Betterkanall County.
• 43:46
Speaker 3: So what exactly happened to action night with the with
• 43:50
Speaker 3: the with the problems in getting the totals, Because I
• 43:52
Speaker 3: my Danny Jones and I were manning things here locally
• 43:55
Speaker 3: and the plan was, you know that we would handle
• 43:57
Speaker 3: the local stuff and then we'd send it to Morgantown
• 43:59
Speaker 3: for Jeff and Hoppy and Brad and crew, and Danny
• 44:01
Speaker 3: and I didn't have a whole lot to talk about
• 44:03
Speaker 3: because it wasn't really until seven am the next morning.
• 44:06
Speaker 3: We were long gone by then that we actually got results.
• 44:09
Speaker 3: Explain it in language that everybody can understand what went
• 44:11
Speaker 3: wrong in Kanan County on like sho night.
• 44:13
Speaker 17: Well, let me back up for one second and just
• 44:15
Speaker 17: say that when you go to vote, as we all did,
• 44:18
Speaker 17: when you go to vote, you go and put it
• 44:19
Speaker 17: in the machine and it prints out a paper ballot.
• 44:22
Speaker 17: Now that's important right there. We have paper ballots. There
• 44:25
Speaker 17: are individuals who tell us we got to get rid
• 44:27
Speaker 17: of the machines. That's where the fraud is. That's where
• 44:29
Speaker 17: the corruption is. We don't have machines. We have paper ballots.
• 44:31
Speaker 17: We have a printer, and we have a calculator, but
• 44:34
  Speaker 17: there's always a hard copy ballot. And that's why I
• 44:37
Speaker 17: always tell voters when you go to vote, make sure
• 44:39
Speaker 17: when that prints out that you look at it and
• 44:41
Speaker 17: those choices that you selected are printed on there. Now
• 44:44
Speaker 17: we don't think that everyone to be an issue, but
• 44:45
Speaker 17: that's a good checks and balances right there. And so
• 44:48
Speaker 17: when that ballot goes through that machine before you leave
• 44:50
Speaker 17: and they show you that it gets counted, it tabulates
• 44:53
Speaker 17: what you voted and it puts it onto a data stick.
• 44:56
Speaker 17: It's kind of a USB, but it doesn't work for
• 44:58
Speaker 17: any other device other than the tabulator machine for voting.
• 45:02
Speaker 17: And so that stick holds all of every time a
• 45:05
Speaker 17: ballot runs through that it holds every one of those
• 45:07
Speaker 17: votes where they were casted, and so then on election night,
• 45:10
Speaker 17: after the polls closed, we're able to take that data stick,
• 45:12
Speaker 17: put it into a computer and calculate all those votes
• 45:16
Speaker 17: and see what the results are at the end of
• 45:17
Speaker 17: the day. The unfortunate situation is that one of seventeen
• 45:22
Speaker 17: machines that we were using for early voting, that data
• 45:25
Speaker 17: stick was corrupted, and what that means is that it
• 45:28
Speaker 17: failed when it went to copy of the data after
• 45:30
Speaker 17: closing out after early voting, that data did not get
• 45:32
Speaker 17: stored on there, and so we knew it said that
• 45:35
Speaker 17: there were seventeen hundred votes, but we didn't know how
• 45:37
Speaker 17: they cast, who they went, which candidates they went to.
• 45:39
Speaker 17: And so we had thirty one, four hundred and fifty
• 45:42
Speaker 17: four early voting ballots. That's a number that will be
• 45:45
Speaker 17: etched in my brain for the rest of my life,
• 45:47
Speaker 17: of no doubt, and we knew that seventeen hundred of them.
• 45:51
Speaker 17: We could not get those counted. And the only way,
• 45:53
Speaker 17: because when you have an early voting location, anybody can
• 45:56
Speaker 17: go to that location where you live in Kennall County,
• 45:59
Speaker 17: we don't know where those ballots are. We have the
• 46:01
Speaker 17: paper ballots, we had them all stored and locked away,
• 46:03
Speaker 17: as state code says, but we didn't know which ones
• 46:06
Speaker 17: weren't counted. And so unfortunately, the only way that we
• 46:08
Speaker 17: could determine the integrity of the election and making sure
• 46:11
Speaker 17: that every vote that was cast is counted is we
• 46:15
Speaker 17: had to count all thirty one thousand, five hundred and
• 46:18
Speaker 17: forty five early voting votes on election night.
• 46:20
Speaker 3: So basically the system worked in all this, the.
• 46:24
Speaker 17: Checks and balances of it worked. Yes, the process worked.
• 46:28
Speaker 17: We counted all those until eight am, and when those
• 46:32
Speaker 17: numbers came through the the and we were crossing our fingers.
• 46:34
Speaker 17: When those numbers came back, they balanced. And what that
• 46:37
Speaker 17: means is the number of votes that we knew got
• 46:40
Speaker 17: were cast in the early vote were counted in the machine.
• 46:43
Speaker 9: And that means that.
• 46:44
Speaker 17: Our workers, our workers who worked tiresly, our volunteers, our
• 46:48
Speaker 17: county clerk's office employees, they counted every single one of
• 46:53
  Speaker 17: those ballots.
• 46:54
Speaker 9: And that's what that means. That it balanced.
• 46:56
Speaker 17: And I think that's extremely incredible because a lot of
• 46:58
Speaker 17: them were working twenty four hours. They came in at
• 47:00
Speaker 17: four am that day to start the election, twenty four hours,
• 47:04
Speaker 17: well over twenty four hours, and actually there was cheering
• 47:07
Speaker 17: going on, and someone from the media asked me, why
• 47:09
Speaker 17: are they cheering? I said, they just hit their twenty
• 47:11
  Speaker 17: four hour mark.
• 47:12
Speaker 3: Yeah again. We're talking to Kenaugh County Commission President Lance

Speaker 3: better health today. And I do need to correct something
• 47:43
Speaker 3: I said when Danny Jones and I were waiting back
• 47:45
Speaker 3: here without my producer, Ryan Nicholson. None of it goes
• 47:49
Speaker 3: on the air anyway, so I did want to make
• 47:51
Speaker 3: sure to Ryan that I did. That was pointed out
• 47:53
Speaker 3: to me that hey, it wasn't just me and Danny Ryan.
• 47:55
Speaker 3: Ryan's the guy that puts it all on the air.
• 47:57
Speaker 3: So without Ryan or whoever a producer is, there's no
• 48:00
Speaker 3: show period. So I heard the qu in shout out,
• 48:03
Speaker 3: shout out to shout out to right. All right, so
• 48:06
Speaker 3: canvas is going on now, right.
• 48:08
Speaker 17: Yeah, And before we move off of it, I just
• 48:10
Speaker 17: want to say that I'm very proud of the work
• 48:12
Speaker 17: that the County Clerk's done, did our county commissioners. You know,
• 48:15
Speaker 17: we were very transparent. We immediately issued a statement saying
• 48:18
Speaker 17: that there was an issue. We explained the issue to
• 48:20
Speaker 17: the candidates. I made the promise that we were going
• 48:23
Speaker 17: to count every single one of these thirty one, four
• 48:25
Speaker 17: hundred and fifty four ballots in front of the public.
• 48:28
Speaker 17: The courthouse was never going to be closed. You know,
• 48:30
Speaker 17: we heard a lot of rumors about Pennsylvania and Georgia
• 48:32
Speaker 17: back in twenty twenty. I didn't want anyone to think
• 48:34
Speaker 17: that that we were trying to hide anything, and so
• 48:37
Speaker 17: we were there up all night and counting those ballots
• 48:40
Speaker 17: open to the public. The media came in and asked
• 48:42
Speaker 17: can we put the camera here? And I said absolutely,
• 48:44
Speaker 17: we have nothing to hide.
• 48:45
Speaker 9: So very excited that we were able to say that.
• 48:47
Speaker 17: We're very transparent, and I think that's how an election
• 48:49
Speaker 17: should ran, even in a chaos situation.
• 48:51
Speaker 3: All right, so now canvus happens.
• 48:52
Speaker 17: Canvas is going to occur here tomorrow. Essentially, what that
• 48:56
Speaker 17: means is that we're going to recount three percent as
• 48:58
Speaker 17: an audit. So that's maybe about six precincts that we're
• 49:01
Speaker 17: going to randomly choose or we hand count every one
• 49:04
Speaker 17: of them. It's going to take us all day, maybe
• 49:06
Speaker 17: in the Wednesday, and then we're also going to look
• 49:08
Speaker 17: at the provisionals. Those are just ballots that are challenged
• 49:12
Speaker 17: or you know, maybe you're not ready to vote, you
• 49:14
Speaker 17: thought you were, you go to vote.
• 49:15
Speaker 9: You're not on the list.
• 49:16
Speaker 17: So we're going to as a county commission with Verer
• 49:18
Speaker 17: McCormick as our county clerk, We're to look at every
• 49:20
Speaker 17: one of those and.
• 49:21
Speaker 9: We'll have the official results.
• 49:23
Speaker 17: But there's about one hundred provisional votes, not enough to
• 49:25
Speaker 17: change any elections that we have unofficial at this moment.
• 49:28
Speaker 3: Let's talk about some water and sewer issues. That's always exciting.
• 49:31
Speaker 9: Yeah, well, I think so.
• 49:32
Speaker 17: You know, when I came in twenty twenty one, we
• 49:34
Speaker 17: talked about water. There was a lot of projects out there.
• 49:37
Speaker 17: Six of them now have been approved by the County
• 49:39
Speaker 17: Commission with funding from the federal government, the state government,
• 49:43
Speaker 17: and thankful to shelleymore Capito, Senator shellymore Capito for some
• 49:47
Speaker 17: of the funding for Leatherwood. Governor Jim Justice now Senator elect.
• 49:52
Speaker 17: His office brought a lot of funding as well. We're
• 49:54
Speaker 17: very proud that we're getting to the point now that
• 49:56
Speaker 17: we're running out of water projects.
• 49:58
Speaker 9: David, that's a great thing, good problem. It's a great problem.
• 50:01
Speaker 17: Now we have some that are out and you know,
• 50:02
Speaker 17: they're asked for water, and we'll look at those, but
• 50:04
Speaker 17: they're tough because it's going to cost millions and millions
• 50:07
Speaker 17: to get to them, just to get to them.
• 50:09
Speaker 9: So we'll we'll do what we can.
• 50:10
Speaker 17: But I think right now for twenty twenty five, my
• 50:12
Speaker 17: focus is shifting saying, hey, mission accomplished on the water projects.
• 50:16
Speaker 17: Let's start looking at sewer. We need to look at
• 50:19
Speaker 17: the sewer for environmental problems. We have waste going into
• 50:22
Speaker 17: waterways rivers that needs to be looked into.
• 50:25
Speaker 9: Here in the county.
• 50:26
Speaker 17: We got people who just they're losing their septic tanks
• 50:29
Speaker 17: and they're realizing they're costing twenty five thirty fifty thousand
• 50:32
Speaker 17: dollars to replace, and they can't afford it. So in
• 50:35
Speaker 17: the year twenty twenty five, I believe that you shouldn't
• 50:37
Speaker 17: have to be in a situation where you want sewer
• 50:40
Speaker 17: access and you don't have it. And I think it's
• 50:42
Speaker 17: going to help with redevelopment plans as we have more
• 50:44
Speaker 17: developers coming into the county looking at this investment. You know,
• 50:48
Speaker 17: with all the jobs going on around us and in
• 50:50
Speaker 17: the county, a lot of people are going to choose
• 50:52
Speaker 17: when they move here for a job to live in
• 50:54
Speaker 17: Kennall County. It's we're the fun county, right, the fun
• 50:57
Speaker 17: county with the City of Charleston. With everything we've got
• 51:00
Speaker 17: on recreation, I think that there's a lot of people
• 51:02
Speaker 17: want to live here and having those amenities when it
• 51:05
Speaker 17: comes to utilities, whether it's water, sewer, fiber optic internet,
• 51:10
Speaker 17: I think that's important for the development, not just next year,
• 51:14
Speaker 17: but for the next ten years.
• 51:15
Speaker 3: Got to vote coming up on playgrounds. I understand, Hey,
• 51:17
  Speaker 3: we've talked.
• 51:18
  Speaker 9: About this before.
• 51:19
Speaker 17: Our playgrounds are deplorable, they're broken down, they're twenty five
• 51:24
  Speaker 17: thirty years old.
• 51:25
Speaker 9: We've looked into it.
• 51:26
Speaker 17: We hired an architect, and tomorrow we're going to be
• 51:29
Speaker 17: voting one five hundred thousand dollars to go into our
• 51:33
Speaker 17: Meadowood Park Playground, our Coonskin Park Playground, and our Pioneer
• 51:37
Speaker 17: Park over in eastern Knall County. That's three playgrounds that
• 51:40
Speaker 17: we're not just replacing, we're building one. We're making them larger.
• 51:44
  Speaker 9: And I'm very.
• 51:44
Speaker 17: Excited for the community, for the kids and for the
• 51:47
Speaker 17: parents who have asked for this, because they go to
• 51:49
Speaker 17: these playgrounds and say, hey, I think we deserve better.
• 51:52
Speaker 17: This County Commission agrees. We've worked on it, and we're
• 51:54
Speaker 17: going to get these playgrounds back up and running and
• 51:57
  Speaker 17: beautiful as ever.
• 51:58
Speaker 3: Give me about twenty to thirty second, son, what's going
• 52:00
Speaker 3: on with the half of McCoy Trail that's kind of
• 52:02
Speaker 3: your baby out there out in Tornado.
• 52:04
  Speaker 9: It's booming. It's booming.
• 52:06
Speaker 17: We've got people coming in from Kentucky, Ohio, New York.
• 52:09
Speaker 17: It's bringing a lot of investment in and I know
• 52:11
Speaker 17: the city of Saint Abvin's is excited about how many
• 52:13
Speaker 17: people they've seen at their restaurants at the hotels.
• 52:15
Speaker 9: So let's continue to do that.
• 52:17
Speaker 17: In twenty twenty five and I'm excited to be a
• 52:19
Speaker 17: part of it with Commissioner Slango and Commissioner Tenant all.
