- 0:00So This is why girls with Asperger's syndrome may struggle
- 0:02with social interactions. Let's get into it guys.
- 0:04Welcome back to the aspy world. My name is Dan.

- 0:11believe it's my journey, my passion, my my.

- 0:17people to their full capacity of being awesome on the autism
- 0:21spectrum. So if you want to join me on

- 0:26Join me on this, Jen. So guys, why why do girls with
- 0:29Asperger's syndrome struggle so much with social interaction?
- 0:31Well, it's really interesting because autistic people in
- 0:34general will have an issue with social interaction because
- 0:36social conventions are something that people pick up generally as
- 0:39they grow through high school and primary school and meeting
- 0:41friends and going out and doing all these things.
- 0:43But autistic individuals are very much more conservative in
- 0:46their value of where they go and how they communicate.
- 0:48And so having a social interaction will be few and far
- 0:52between and maybe a massive struggle for people on the
- 0:54autism spectrum because they're not as used to it and not as
- 0:58absorbent of those things as typical people.
- 1:01Now girls and Nelson Spectrum have a harder time with this,
- 1:03and this is because social interaction between women or
- 1:07females is very different because females are more of a, I
- 1:11don't know how best to say, more of a clicky type of of
- 1:13interaction where girls want to impress other girls so they feel
- 1:17part of that tribe, right? And this means that the girls
- 1:20will try to do a lot of things to fit in, but when you're
- 1:23fitting in with a group of people that you don't really
- 1:25fully understand how to communicate with you, you're
- 1:28going to come across problems. Now, these problems could come
- 1:30out in all kinds of ways where you you don't really know how to
- 1:32maintain friends properly. You're not going to be able to
- 1:35talk to friends in a way where you know your boundaries, what
- 1:38you should talk about, what you can talk about, what's kind of
- 1:40like release sensitive topics and things like that.
- 1:42And then also how to keep up with friends, messaging them,
- 1:45maintaining the friendships for a long time, like knowing that
- 1:48hey don't reach out every single day and talk to that person
- 1:52incessantly because that's going to annoy somebody.
- 1:54All of these factors come into social interaction and are big
- 1:57issues for girls on the autism spectrum.
- 1:59This is why you'll see autistic girls or girls diagnosed with
- 2:02autism or Asperger's syndrome will have quite 1 hatch issues
- 2:06on maintaining friendships with other girls.
- 2:08They may actually have an easier time maintaining friendships
- 2:10with other boys because boys have a different way of kind of
- 2:13communicating their their emotions in terms of masking and
- 2:17things like that. They kind of just just fall into
- 2:19it really. They just kind of go along with
- 2:21it. And and boys are a little bit
- 2:23outside of the area of trying to oppress each other to be a part
- 2:26of a group, the quite a more accepting, incisive group.
- 2:28Now I'm not saying all girls even they try to make people
- 2:31conform to their ideas or social ideas.
- 2:33That's what I'm sorry to say. What I'm trying to say is that
- 2:35the behavioral traits of hunter gatherers are more kind of like
- 2:38they want to be accepting because mothers are protectors,
- 2:40they're carriers, they're people who who pull the tribe together,
- 2:43as when we were going back to gather days, would be the people
- 2:45who were pulling the people together, making sure that we
- 2:47were safe. The men would be out hunting and
- 2:49fighting off Saber to tigers, but the women would be keeping a
- 2:51social commune very close together.
- 2:54So This is why all the other females want to be very
- 2:58accepted, so they can move the tribe on.
- 3:00That's the kind of like anthropological idea there.
- 3:02So I do understand that girl singles instruction will have
- 3:05issues with social interactions. But there are ways to overcome
- 3:08it by spending time more with people who are more social than
- 3:11you, so you can ask questions and learn from those people.
- 3:13And then also putting yourself out there in more social
- 3:15situations will get you more accustomed to what typical
- 3:18conversations are like. Super interesting guys.
- 3:21If you'd like to download my PDF Life Hacks autism book, you can

- 3:25I'll see you in the next video, guys.
- 3:27Peace.
