- 1:17Without any further ado, guys, let's kick this
- 1:20show off.
- 1:21This is Inspirations For Your Life.
- 1:25The master topic for this week is how
- 1:27to let go and level up, series five,
- 1:30show number 27.
- 1:31The granular topic for today, Saturday, is how
- 1:36to face it honestly, series five, show 27,
- 1:42episode number one.
- 1:43The theme is radical honesty creates release.
- 1:48Interesting concept, right?
- 1:51Let's kick this off, everybody.
- 1:52Are you ready?
- 1:53Welcome to Inspirations For Your Life.
- 1:56I am John C.
- 1:58Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 2:02podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 2:09Montclair State University, passionate lifelong learner, and so
- 2:15grateful now to be a published author.
- 2:17Welcome, everyone.
- 2:19Today, I begin a new season with a
- 2:22new topic, as I said, a season not
- 2:25about adding more, but about removing what is
- 2:29no longer true.
- 2:31Because you see, growth does not begin with
- 2:34motivation.
- 2:35No, that's a misunderstanding.
- 2:38It begins with honesty.
- 2:40Yeah, it begins with honesty.
- 2:45So the core message for today is most
- 2:49people are not stuck because they lack knowledge.
- 2:53They are stuck because they avoid clarity.
- 2:57They avoid what they already know, but they've
- 3:00not admitted it yet.
- 3:02And that avoidance becomes the real barrier to
- 3:06everyone's growth.
- 3:07Honesty is not comfortable all the time, but
- 3:11it is efficient.
- 3:12And efficiency is what creates change.
- 3:17I know a lot of people don't like
- 3:19change, but it's important to understand change.
- 3:22So let's get into some points that can
- 3:23help you embrace this a lot more.
- 3:26Number one, you cannot heal what you refuse
- 3:29to acknowledge.
- 3:31Avoidance blocks recovery before it begins.
- 3:35What do they always say?
- 3:36Denial is not a river in Egypt.
- 3:39It's denial, not denial.
- 3:42Number two, guys, radical honesty is more powerful
- 3:45than fake positivity.
- 3:47I had one the other day, I went
- 3:49to an event, it was a networking event.
- 3:51And the leader of the group was very
- 3:53nice, but I felt that he was being
- 3:56a little bit over positive in the sense
- 3:59that he was coming off way too strong.
- 4:03And it was just really unsettling.
- 4:08Truth creates direction.
- 4:10Illusion creates the light.
- 4:14Number three, your habits reveal your real priorities.
- 4:17Behavior always exposes reality.
- 4:20Number four, pain is feedback, not identity.
- 4:24It is information, not definition.
- 4:27Number five, your patterns matter more than your
- 4:31emotions do.
- 4:33Repetition defines the outcomes.
- 4:35And number six, stop performing and start observing
- 4:38your life.
- 4:40Awareness requires distance from ego.
- 4:43If you got a big ego, well, you
- 4:45might need to put that in check.
- 4:47Number seven, admitting what is not working creates
- 4:50momentum.
- 4:51Clarity is the first form of change, so
- 4:54embrace it.
- 4:55Number eight, your past is data.
- 4:58That's all your past is.
- 5:00It's not your destiny.
- 5:01History informs us, but does not control us.
- 5:05And I think a lot of people today
- 5:07will say, oh my gosh, I don't wanna
- 5:08be that.
- 5:09I don't wanna be like that.
- 5:11You don't have to be like that.
- 5:13It's just, that's what you are right now.
- 5:18But you can absolutely, absolutely change that.
- 5:24Absolutely, you can change that.
- 5:27And I think that's where a lot of
- 5:28people, I think they get a little bit
- 5:30lost and they don't really understand like what
- 5:32goes on, but you absolutely can change the
- 5:36data from your past to be better in
- 5:40your future.
- 5:41People don't think it's possible.
- 5:43It may not be easy to do, but
- 5:45you definitely have the choice and the right
- 5:49to do it.
- 5:50Don't think that because it's on paper or
- 5:55because there's a record of something means you
- 5:57can't change.
- 5:58You can change anything you want with truth
- 6:02and intention and integrity.
- 6:05Number nine, self-awareness is the first upgrade
- 6:10in growth.
- 6:12Nothing improves without visibility.
- 6:15Number 10, avoidance is more draining than truth.
- 6:22And you don't realize it until you get
- 6:24stuck into the avoidance loop.
- 6:26But I think that's a very big problem
- 6:28to understand.
- 6:34And a lot of people get worried about
- 6:39what's happening or why things are going a
- 6:42certain way.
- 6:43And it's because of who you basically are.
- 6:48But you can change who you are.
- 6:52You can change who you are very, very
- 6:55easily.
- 6:57Okay, you can change that.
- 7:01Hiding costs more than facing reality.
- 7:05It might seem like it's gonna be worse
- 7:08because it's gonna be uncomfortable.
- 7:11And we said in the past that uncomfortability
- 7:14is where success starts to grow.
- 7:17It's just uncomfortable.
- 7:19Sometimes it's lonely.
- 7:20Sometimes you're the only one there.
- 7:22Number 11, you are allowed to decide you
- 7:27need change.
- 7:28There's nothing wrong with that.
- 7:31Some people may not like that you're gonna
- 7:32change, but that's not your problem.
- 7:36Permission is internal.
- 7:40It's not external.
- 7:41I think that's another thing that kind of
- 7:42trips people up because they're like, well, wait
- 7:44a minute.
- 7:46I can't make that kind of change, right?
- 7:51I can't make that kind of change.
- 7:54I think that's an understatement that a lot
- 7:56of people, they get lost with.
- 8:00And I think that's something that a lot
- 8:02of people don't understand today.
- 8:05But it happens because of an emotion we
- 8:09get.
- 8:10And if we operate only on emotion, we
- 8:14miss the gold in our life.
- 8:16Number 12, ownership is where personal power begins.
- 8:21It's not where ego takes flight.
- 8:23Let's be very clear about that.
- 8:25Responsibility creates control, okay?
- 8:30And number 13, blame freezes progress while responsibility
- 8:38creates motion.
- 8:42Think about that for a moment.
- 8:43Blame freezes progress.
- 8:46Accountability drives movement, drives movement.
- 8:52The question is why aren't more people accountable
- 8:54today?
- 8:58I think it's because they're not willing to
- 9:01commit.
- 9:02They're not willing to do what's necessary.
- 9:08I mean, that's a point that a lot
- 9:09of people, again, they get very lost about.
- 9:14And I think maybe when you hear that,
- 9:17you're gonna be like, I can change or
- 9:20can I not change?
- 9:21And the truth of the matter, guys, is
- 9:22you can change anything you wanna change, but
- 9:25it's not gonna be the easiest thing.
- 9:30And I say this to you because you're
- 9:33gonna have to grow when you change.
- 9:35It's not gonna be a simple, simple thing,
- 9:38right?
- 9:39It's not gonna be a very simple thing.
- 9:44And I think that's important to understand.
- 9:53And maybe you're gonna know that you can
- 10:00make change if you believe in who you
- 10:02are.
- 10:04Number 14, what you keep repeating keeps you
- 10:07stuck.
- 10:08Cycles define direction.
- 10:11You know, lots of people out there will
- 10:13say, I'm just not interested in that.
- 10:17But then they say they wanna participate, but
- 10:20then yet they keep making excuses.
- 10:22Those are people that are just definitely not
- 10:25gonna be part of your crowd.
- 10:27Number 15, identity is not fixed.
- 10:31It is constructed.
- 10:33So you are shaped by the decisions that
- 10:37you make.
- 10:39So choose your decisions wisely because they will
- 10:44determine your future.
- 10:48You might think, well, John, you know, one
- 10:50decision today isn't gonna matter.
- 10:52You see, your mind and body work in
- 10:54patterns.
- 10:55And when you start making certain decisions, it's
- 10:59kind of like Facebook, other social media, it's
- 11:00like, it's gonna keep giving you more of
- 11:02that or less of that, depending on what
- 11:05the decision is.
- 11:06Number 16, what you tolerate becomes your new
- 11:10standard.
- 11:11Oh, you know what?
- 11:12I'm just gonna let him get away with
- 11:13that today.
- 11:13I'm gonna let her get away with that
- 11:14today.
- 11:15You know, I don't wanna be a, I
- 11:17don't wanna be a problem.
- 11:19What you're telling yourself is you're not that
- 11:23important.
- 11:24I'm gonna let people walk on me and
- 11:27I'm gonna be okay with it.
- 11:29You're not just accepting one time.
- 11:33You're changing a standard in your life to
- 11:36be that way.
- 11:39And I caution you, ladies and gentlemen, because
- 11:41if you make that change, if you make
- 11:45that statement, I should say, more than once,
- 11:48usually two to three times, it becomes a
- 11:51pattern.
- 11:52And then you're wondering, well, how'd I get
- 11:55down this road?
- 11:56How did I start treating myself badly?
- 11:59How did I start, you know, not caring
- 12:04about things?
- 12:06You were lazy once.
- 12:08And that laziness basically got you to make
- 12:13a decision, a pattern change.
- 12:16Now that you're aware of it, you're having
- 12:19trouble changing it.
- 12:23Acceptance, ladies and gentlemen, defines baseline.
- 12:29I was having a conversation about this with
- 12:31someone today and we're talking about, you know,
- 12:34different business shows and the types of business
- 12:36that should be in a show and that
- 12:37other people can't be at that show.
- 12:39And we talked about respect.
- 12:44And if your show, let's say, is about
- 12:47an industry trade and suddenly that trade has
- 12:50nothing to do with windows or doors, and
- 12:53then you allow window and door people to
- 12:55come to that trade show, you cheapen the
- 12:58show and you lower the standard to the
- 13:03type of show and also pretty soon the
- 13:06type of people that come because, oh, I
- 13:08don't wanna go there.
- 13:10That show is a chocolate show, but they
- 13:12always have window and door people and they
- 13:14have cleaning people there.
- 13:15And I wanna learn about chocolate, not about
- 13:20pillow windows and doors and roofing and siding.
- 13:25I love when you go to a parade.
- 13:27This is my favorite.
- 13:28When you go to a parade and the
- 13:30parade is supposed to have vendors from the
- 13:32town to basically help people do business locally.
- 13:36Then you got national, like, roofer people, national
- 13:40siding people, national door people, bathtub fitter people,
- 13:45and it cheapens the whole experience.
- 13:49That's my opinion.
- 13:51And I wanna see more of the local
- 13:53businesses at these town fairs.
- 13:57Now, people that are from Oshkosh and places
- 14:01all over, I asked one guy who was
- 14:03at a trade show that was local, it
- 14:06was like a town fair.
- 14:08I said, are you in the town?
- 14:09He's like, oh, no, no, no, I'm remote.
- 14:12Well, where are you?
- 14:12Oh, I'm in Philadelphia.
- 14:14Well, how do you help?
- 14:16Well, I do everything by phone and I
- 14:18coordinate and I get people in your state.
- 14:21I was like, if that is not a
- 14:22stupid thing, I don't know what is.
- 14:25The whole idea of shopping local is you
- 14:27get to help the local business because when
- 14:29you help the local business, that local business
- 14:32helps the community, which helps schools and many
- 14:34other things.
- 14:35But a lot of people running these organizations
- 14:39don't understand this.
- 14:41And they just allow everybody in and that's
- 14:44a big problem.
- 14:45Number 17, comfort zones are familiar limitations.
- 14:51Safety can still restrict growth, guys.
- 14:54It can.
- 14:55You think, oh, I'm gonna stay safe, I'll
- 14:57be fine.
- 14:58Yeah, you're gonna stay safe and fine.
- 15:00You're gonna stay exactly where you are.
- 15:02Number 18, old narratives hide your current potential.
- 15:07Don't keep playing the old script.
- 15:09You know, you're playing the old script and
- 15:10the old program and you don't even know
- 15:12you're playing it.
- 15:13And suddenly you're wondering, why am I not
- 15:16getting different results?
- 15:17Well, this goes back to a definition.
- 15:23Einstein saying, doing the same thing over and
- 15:25over again, expecting different results.
- 15:28You know what that is, guys?
- 15:29That's insanity.
- 15:31But yet people do that.
- 15:32They keep doing the same thing over and
- 15:33over again, hoping that maybe it'll be different,
- 15:35but they haven't changed anything, so why would
- 15:37it be different?
- 15:39Stories can block evolution because a story is
- 15:47not something you just tell yourself.
- 15:49It's something you share with the world.
- 15:51It's something other people get to see you
- 15:53as.
- 15:55And I think that's the biggest thing is
- 15:57that, see, how we see ourselves projects off
- 16:01to how others see us.
- 16:03That can affect whether we get a job
- 16:05opportunity.
- 16:06It can affect a lot of things.
- 16:08And I can tell you that that is
- 16:11a big, big thing that many people don't
- 16:15understand.
- 16:17And the reason they don't understand it because
- 16:19they think they're gonna make it all work.
- 16:32I think many people today get a story
- 16:37inside them, either because of themselves or because
- 16:39of a loved one or friends or even
- 16:44strangers, coworkers.
- 16:50And when they get the story in their
- 16:51head, you know when you get a music
- 16:54song in your head, you can't get it
- 16:55out.
- 16:56Those are good things, right?
- 16:57If you ever get a song in your
- 16:58head, I'm like, oh, can you just stop
- 16:59singing that song?
- 17:00I even had a friend, he's like, he's
- 17:01singing a song, I was like, can you
- 17:02stop, can you stop singing that song?
- 17:04I can't, I can't, man.
- 17:06You gotta stop, like, you gotta stop.
- 17:11It creates an emotional thread.
- 17:13And the emotional thread has this auto replay
- 17:17button that's just stuck, right?
- 17:20Number 19, you are not your worst moment.
- 17:26Experience is not identity.
- 17:28So if you don't like who you are
- 17:29or where you're going, that's fine, that's okay.
- 17:38Experience never equals your identity.
- 17:43Number 20, you are not your insecurities.
- 17:53Nope, thoughts are not truth.
- 17:58They can become truth if we keep focusing
- 18:02on them, we'll bring them into existence.
- 18:08Number 21, honesty is uncomfortable, briefly.
- 18:13Denial is painful, constantly.
- 18:17So once you get over the truth, you're
- 18:20fine.
- 18:21When you're in denial, well, you have to
- 18:24keep making excuses over and over again.
- 18:30And pretty soon, you don't even remember the
- 18:32excuse or the white lie you told or
- 18:35the fib you told or even the bigger
- 18:36lie.
- 18:37Pretty soon, you trip up.
- 18:39Didn't you say you were out of town
- 18:42that weekend?
- 18:44Yeah, yeah, I was out of town.
- 18:46And pretty soon, people are gonna start putting
- 18:48facts and realize, like, you're not telling the
- 18:50truth.
- 18:53Short truth beats long illusion.
- 18:57People think when you give a long illusion
- 18:59that you impress others.
- 19:01What you really do is you put yourself
- 19:04in a hot seat because sooner or later,
- 19:07somebody's gonna call you on the carpet and
- 19:08say, look, you said that this could be
- 19:14done this way.
- 19:17Could be a salesperson, could even be a
- 19:20friend.
- 19:22That friend probably won't stay a friend very
- 19:24long.
- 19:25But these are things we have to think
- 19:27about, right?
- 19:28Number 22, stop romanticizing struggle.
- 19:35You think that struggle is, like, so amazing
- 19:39to think about.
- 19:40And you keep visualizing it.
- 19:42So you keep getting more of it.
- 19:44Start analyzing it.
- 19:47Clarify immediately.
- 19:49Because remember, clarity replaces confusion.
- 19:51And when we replace confusion, we get success.
- 19:56Success.
- 20:00Sometimes success becomes an illusion to others.
- 20:05Why?
- 20:08Because they just don't understand why things are
- 20:12working a certain way, right?
- 20:24And that can help a lot of people.
- 20:37And that can make you think.
- 20:48And that may be something that changes your
- 20:50way.
- 20:56And maybe it gets you to be a
- 21:00little bit different, right?
- 21:04Maybe.
- 21:05Then again, maybe it doesn't.
- 21:08But if you keep working the same way
- 21:10over and over again, and you don't change
- 21:15anything, you're gonna become frustrated.
- 21:18You're never gonna get the results you want
- 21:21because you think that doing the same thing
- 21:24over is gonna get you results.
- 21:25It's not.
- 21:28It's not.
- 21:29So you gotta be careful about that.
- 21:33Number 23, life improves when treated as a
- 21:37system.
- 21:38Consistency and structure are the keys to success,
- 21:40guys.
- 21:41Structure outperforms randomness.
- 21:46Number 24, one honest sentence can redirect your
- 21:51entire path.
- 21:53Truth creates pivot points, conversation starters.
- 22:06And that makes it easier for you to
- 22:09align with people.
- 22:12Number 25, self-respect begins with internal honesty.
- 22:17If you cannot be honest to yourself, how
- 22:23can you ever be honest to others?
- 22:25Like how?
- 22:26It's virtually impossible.
- 22:28You see, guys, integrity starts in private thought.
- 22:34And then it dominoes out into public thoughts.
- 22:39But if you are not happy with who
- 22:41you are, if you don't believe in yourself,
- 22:44I've talked about belief so many times, you
- 22:46never achieve.
- 22:48If you're not the person you are to
- 22:51yourself in public, then you're gonna have problems,
- 22:56just like hands down.
- 22:58Number 26, awareness does not fix problems.
- 23:03It reveals them.
- 23:05The question is, are you ready to make
- 23:08a change?
- 23:10When you find the problem, are you gonna
- 23:12do something about it?
- 23:13Or are you gonna say, Denial is a
- 23:17river in Egypt, which we all know it's
- 23:19not, it's the Nile.
- 23:25That's important.
- 23:33Important things, guys.
- 23:40And I think a lot of people get
- 23:43concerned about it.
- 23:50And that makes people think about things differently.
- 23:59Seeing is the first step, remember that.
- 24:01You've gotta admit it.
- 24:03Number 27, once you see and witness the
- 24:07truth, change becomes very possible, almost inevitable.
- 24:14Clarity opens action and you can never re
- 24:16-see it the way you do once you
- 24:19look at what needs to be changed.
- 24:23Number 28, facing reality is the first step
- 24:27in letting go.
- 24:29Release requires recognition.
- 24:33Number 29, facing reality is the first step
- 24:37in leveling up.
- 24:39Growth begins with truth, guys.
- 24:42So if you can't be truthful to yourself,
- 24:44you'll never be truthful to others.
- 24:47And you can't be truthful about your success.
- 24:52Number 30, today is about clarity.
- 24:55It's not about comfort.
- 24:58Comfort delays evolution.
- 24:59And the more that you understand that, the
- 25:02more that you will be able to reach
- 25:04the dreams that you want.
- 25:06In closing today, so here's the truth.
- 25:10Are you ready for the truth?
- 25:11Can you handle the truth?
- 25:13You do not need more motivation.
- 25:15You do not need more time.
- 25:18You need honesty because honesty ends confusion and
- 25:25confusion is what keeps people stuck.
- 25:31You don't get unstuck overnight.
- 25:34You have a realization about something and then
- 25:37you have to change patterns in your life,
- 25:41ways in your life, but it doesn't happen
- 25:44overnight.
- 25:45First, you're conscious about it.
- 25:47You know what you have to change.
- 25:49You work on changing.
- 25:50You have to be really diligent to change
- 25:54those patterns, to rewrite those programs in your
- 25:57mind.
- 25:57And then it becomes autonomous.
- 26:01Then it just works.
- 26:04Once you face it clearly, you can finally
- 26:09release it.
- 26:12And once you release it, remember, you have
- 26:16to honestly release it.
- 26:18You can do something really important.
- 26:21You know what that is ladies and gentlemen?
- 26:22Once you release it, you finally have the
- 26:27ability to grow.
- 26:30But many people hold everything inside.
- 26:35I'm better than everybody.
- 26:38I can't learn.
- 26:39That's what they say.
- 26:40And those people are destined for failure because
- 26:43those that don't wanna learn don't move ahead.
- 26:48And sometimes they go backwards because of their
- 26:51egos.
- 26:53And that's a real tough one ladies and
- 26:56gentlemen.
- 26:59Letting go and leveling up this week is
- 27:02not an easy conversation that everyone here is
- 27:06gonna like, but it's a necessary one that
- 27:11we all need if we wanna get better,
- 27:16if we wanna achieve more in our life.
- 27:18Ladies and gentlemen, I'm John C.
- 27:21Morley, and this has been Inspirations For Your
- 27:25Life.
- 27:26And this is where honesty becomes elevation.
- 27:33Don't be scared because it looks different, because
- 27:37change is something that you've always feared your
- 27:40life.
- 27:41You can move forward with this guys.
- 27:44The belief is the key.
- 27:49Consistency and structure implemented will put those new
- 27:55habits on autopilot.
- 27:57Have yourself a great one everyone, be well,
- 27:59and let's let go and start leveling up
- 28:01this week.
