- 0:00Speaker 1: Greetings is Danny Filth and Cradle of Filth and we're
- 0:04Speaker 1: coming to Australia in July. Henceforth I'm here talking about it.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Fantastic Danny, thanks for joining us this evening, No, thank
- 0:15Speaker 2: you right pleasure. As you mentioned, Cradle Filth have recently
- 0:19Speaker 2: announced a co headlining tour of Australia with Devil Driver
- 0:23Speaker 2: for a run of five shows, kicking off in Brisbool
- 0:25Speaker 2: on July the night, then hitting Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide
- 0:28Speaker 2: and finishing in perth und rather sixteenth, mate, like, what
- 0:31Speaker 2: the lights have you got in store for us of
- 0:33Speaker 2: this time around, brother.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Well, hopefully we'll be playing some stuff from our latest sound,
- 0:38Speaker 1: the Screaming of the Veil Crease. Obviously we're bringing Devil
- 0:43Speaker 1: Driver with us, which is a good thing. We've taught
- 0:48Speaker 1: of them twice now in the state, both and very successful.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Obviously Des is my manager as well and one of
- 0:54Speaker 1: my best friends, so it'd be good to come and
- 0:58Speaker 1: see that part of the world of him.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Very much looking forward to it.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I think we actually get a day off this time,
- 1:06Speaker 1: so the trip will be more than worthwhile because obviously
- 1:11Speaker 1: tour in the world do you want to want to
- 1:13Speaker 1: get out. You don't want just see the inside of
- 1:15Speaker 1: airports and hotel lobbies and venues. We're doing this obviously
- 1:21Speaker 1: for a long time now, so that's a progative of mine,
- 1:24Speaker 1: is getting out and seeing the local wildlife or you know,
- 1:28Speaker 1: something of interest.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:32Speaker 2: The two men's, as you say, initially joined forces in
- 1:35Speaker 2: twenty twenty three for the Double Trouble North American Tour.
- 1:38Speaker 4: So did it live up to its name of Double Trouble?
- 1:41Speaker 4: Did just get up much mischief?
- 1:45Speaker 3: I wouldn't say that much. Well, I don't know.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We're not as young as we used to be so
- 1:51Speaker 1: and I don't drink anymore, so the mischief is kind
- 1:54Speaker 1: of depleted. It's more like stuff and the like a
- 2:05Speaker 1: theme parks, and we did spoof them. We always spoof
- 2:08Speaker 1: them at the end of the tour. They they just
- 2:11Speaker 1: cover called sailing, and we all piled on dresses, sea creatures,
- 2:18Speaker 1: these elaborate costumes. We had a Yeah, we had balloons
- 2:22Speaker 1: and you know, confetti and choreography planned for that. It's
- 2:28Speaker 1: pretty funny. I think we put a video of it
- 2:31Speaker 1: up online. But yeah, the tours, I think we saved
- 2:34Speaker 1: ourselves for the shows.
- 2:36Speaker 3: They were very very full on.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Ye, when do you think about it, Like, it's actually
- 2:42Speaker 2: a bit of a strange music of combination with Devil
- 2:45Speaker 2: Driving more at a straight out wrecking machine and Train
- 2:48Speaker 2: of Field sort of bring more of a theatrical and
- 2:50Speaker 2: cinematical amateur music.
- 2:51Speaker 4: So how did it first come about?
- 2:53Speaker 2: We used to join them up on tour and we
- 2:55Speaker 2: confident from the outset that it would go all together.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Well, it came about because Days is my manager, and
- 3:04Speaker 1: we suggested it and I said, yeah, hell yeah, why not.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I think it's a great combination. Uh, it works very well,
- 3:11Speaker 1: tried and tested formula in the States. The fans are
- 3:18Speaker 1: not as different as you think, if they're different at all.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Usually the fans are you know, fans are both both bands.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Now.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I think it's a perfect combination. I think sometimes you
- 3:30Speaker 1: can go out with bands that are way too similar. Yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 1: we've done tours so it's been like four or five
- 3:36Speaker 1: bands or you know, very very of the.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Same milk, and.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I just don't think it works quite as well as
- 3:43Speaker 1: ones that are a little bit more liberal.
- 3:48Speaker 3: And a bit more diverse. And this, really, to be honest,
- 3:50Speaker 3: isn't that diverse?
- 3:51Speaker 1: Is a Devil Driver and Cradle of Film Film million
- 3:54Speaker 1: miles apart. They're more meat, meat and potatoes and we're
- 3:58Speaker 1: more like sort of the exotic dessert.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I think it's more in the actual stage show that
- 4:07Speaker 2: the difference is there. So do you have to sort
- 4:09Speaker 2: of work together with your sets to make it a cohesive,
- 4:13Speaker 2: flowing thing into each other.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I mean, yeah, the thing has come to Australia.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You're not able to bring our full stage show, so
- 4:21Speaker 1: we do our best and obviously it's a some there's
- 4:27Speaker 1: a there's a set up on the stage that has
- 4:29Speaker 1: to be navigated by the two crews, so it's you know,
- 4:34Speaker 1: the shifting over from Devil Driver to Us isn't like
- 4:38Speaker 1: I'm going to set people to sleep, because it's very
- 4:42Speaker 1: swift and yeah, we just want to make the show
- 4:45Speaker 1: as cool as possible really as well as great come
- 4:49Speaker 1: to Australia, very diverse audience. You you know, I believe
- 4:53Speaker 1: the audience feels safe there in a metal crowd despite
- 4:56Speaker 1: the fact that people are going you know, bananas, a
- 5:00Speaker 1: lot of diversity. Yeah, it's a good crowd. We came
- 5:05Speaker 1: last in twenty twenty four. I think of us sell
- 5:08Speaker 1: out and just had a fantastic time, hoping, you know,
- 5:13Speaker 1: to replicate that tenthold this.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Time, run that twenty twenty four to or from memory.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I think you're pretty much sold out every show, So
- 5:21Speaker 2: if you don't sell out every show this time, we
- 5:23Speaker 2: know whose far it is.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yeah Devil, Yeah, Desis.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I love the chow poster as well as bro just
- 5:35Speaker 2: got two schoolboys sitting there duking it outside and soe.
- 5:39Speaker 2: But that haven't been too kind of you because I'm
- 5:41Speaker 2: guessing you're the character with the face paint on and
- 5:43Speaker 2: you're a come from a massive uppercut spake of the daw.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's because I'm immortal, you know. I just like
- 5:50Speaker 1: letting him, letting him throw the punchries until he just
- 5:53Speaker 1: falls over.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Very true.
- 5:57Speaker 4: She builds a co headlining tour made so I know
- 5:59Speaker 4: that doesn't mean too much these days.
- 6:01Speaker 2: But what it does mean, as far as I know,
- 6:03Speaker 2: is that both bands are going to be getting full
- 6:05Speaker 2: sets every night.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, well as full as can be. It doesn't mean
- 6:13Speaker 1: that both bands will be playing at the same time.
- 6:15Speaker 1: That'd be awful, would be a bit much you try
- 6:20Speaker 1: and decipher what's going on. Yeah, I think we're closing
- 6:25Speaker 1: the show, but yeah, both bands get a very big
- 6:30Speaker 1: set each and I say, this is a tried and
- 6:33Speaker 1: tested formula We've done in the States.
- 6:35Speaker 3: People loved it.
- 6:36Speaker 1: They're begging us to do it in Europe at the moment,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and we're just like Jesus the logistics of it. We're
- 6:42Speaker 1: just so busy at the moment. And next year is
- 6:46Speaker 1: another huge year for us because we're gonna have a
- 6:49Speaker 1: new album and amongst other things coming out, and so
- 6:55Speaker 1: I don't know really when we can fit that in,
- 6:58Speaker 1: but it's on the cards, and it's great that it's
- 7:01Speaker 1: coming down to Australia. Very pleased with that, and it's
- 7:07Speaker 1: going to be a good opportunity to explore the place
- 7:10Speaker 1: with a good friend, you know, and good friends because
- 7:13Speaker 1: we know the Devil Drivers guys you know, off by heart.
- 7:17Speaker 1: In fact, we're sharing a bit of crew with them
- 7:19Speaker 1: because yeah, because we spent a lot of time on
- 7:24Speaker 1: the road together.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Now yeah, God, as you can imagine, bro like through Heavy,
- 7:30Speaker 2: We're part of so many chores that come out here,
- 7:32Speaker 2: But I honestly cannot remember the last time there is
- 7:34Speaker 2: excitement about a chore as much as there is about
- 7:37Speaker 2: you and Devil Driver coming over mad like people just
- 7:40Speaker 2: losing their ship and they're still only six months out.
- 7:43Speaker 3: That's good. Hopefully it will sell out and hopefully'll be
- 7:45Speaker 3: able to.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Extend the tour with any life, spend it across our days.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Off though You've still got to keep your days off, brother, Yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Absolutely, for the benefit of people then, my some people
- 8:00Speaker 2: haven't been to a Cradle or Fiel show before that
- 8:02Speaker 2: are gone along for the Devil Driver, so people are added,
- 8:05Speaker 2: maybe people who haven't seen it before. I run through
- 8:07Speaker 2: a typical Cradle of Field live show and what people
- 8:10Speaker 2: can expect when they come along.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Well, it's bombastic, it's loud, it's energetic, it's very visual.
- 8:21Speaker 1: We played a very eclectic set that.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Isn't just from.
- 8:25Speaker 1: One album that we try and diversify across the board,
- 8:30Speaker 1: across you know, much of our backcannon. So everybody's kind
- 8:33Speaker 1: of satisfied with having a very eclectic range of of
- 8:40Speaker 1: tracks and different you know, eras of our existence.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 1: It's just very colorful and visual, very gothic atmosphere. Ah yeah, fast, energetic,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you know, and.
- 8:58Speaker 2: As we said before, by like theatrics and atmosphere play
- 9:01Speaker 2: a large part of your music.
- 9:03Speaker 4: It's one thing creating.
- 9:04Speaker 2: That in the studio when you do an album, but
- 9:06Speaker 2: when it comes to recreating.
- 9:08Speaker 4: That live, like, is that difficult to sort of portray?
- 9:13Speaker 3: I think not.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think we managed to move out plenty of experience
- 9:17Speaker 1: at it over the years. Obviously we bring that to life.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I mean, we can't bring a full stage show to Australia,
- 9:23Speaker 1: but you know we bring it to life with theatrics and.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Whether we have.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Images going on screens and we've had performers and it's
- 9:36Speaker 1: just we are two different creatures. Obviously, a live creature
- 9:41Speaker 1: is much different from a studio one. Yeah, you know
- 9:43Speaker 1: we're predetting in costume, spikes and makeup and dry ice
- 9:50Speaker 1: and you know, lights to go in ten to a
- 9:53Speaker 1: dozen and it really works that camaraderie that that those
- 10:02Speaker 1: theatrics really lend weight to to what we what we're
- 10:07Speaker 1: writing and what we're expressing on stage. So yeah, it
- 10:12Speaker 1: feels ritualistic. It's it's cool as.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Fuck, messed before that you're going to be true.
- 10:18Speaker 2: And on the back of your most recent album, The
- 10:20Speaker 2: Scream Again of alcar Is that came out in March five,
- 10:23Speaker 2: So how was the reception for the album was it?
- 10:26Speaker 4: Was it? What you were hoping for.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, above and beyond screaming the val Cruz is it's
- 10:33Speaker 1: really chied high. The fans love it. It's in the
- 10:37Speaker 1: next step up in our evolutionary step. The next record,
- 10:42Speaker 1: which obviously we're we're writing at the moment, almost finished writing,
- 10:45Speaker 1: going to be in a studio in about three weeks again,
- 10:49Speaker 1: takes that to the next level. Yeah, we've had a
- 10:54Speaker 1: fantastic few years post Lockdown. Obviously there's been a lot
- 10:59Speaker 1: of catching up to.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Do this one.
- 11:02Speaker 1: We've been touring a lot one, We've been very creative. Yeah,
- 11:08Speaker 1: I think we were definitely walking into the right direction.
- 11:12Speaker 1: The fans seem to like it, and you know that
- 11:14Speaker 1: sort of matters.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah, at the time, he said there was a lot
- 11:18Speaker 2: of our old school sounds and vibes that went into
- 11:20Speaker 2: the album.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Is that something you're going to continue with on this
- 11:23Speaker 4: next album? You're right, and you know you're going to sort.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Of expand again on your sonic palid I guess, well, yeah, we're.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Moving the goalposts in all kinds of directions.
- 11:33Speaker 1: It's very hard to stipulate exactly what we're doing, and really,
- 11:38Speaker 1: to be honest, it's too early to be talking about
- 11:40Speaker 1: our new album.
- 11:41Speaker 3: We haven't even decided.
- 11:42Speaker 1: We've got a huge amount of tracks and we haven't
- 11:45Speaker 1: even decided which ones are going on the recorders yet.
- 11:47Speaker 3: That's up to me and a producer.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Next week it's going to come and visit my house
- 11:51Speaker 1: and we're going to cifle through everything, ciphon through everything
- 11:56Speaker 1: and decide what's keeper and what isn't. What my need development.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So yeah, again, very early to talk about it.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Sweet as mane roll. Thanks very much for your time, Bro.
- 12:08Speaker 4: It's being a pleasure speaking with you.
- 12:09Speaker 2: A tour kicks off in July, and it's one of
- 12:13Speaker 2: those rare occasions when you say it's going to sell out,
- 12:15Speaker 2: and it probably will, so go have long get your
- 12:17Speaker 2: tickets asap.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Brilliant, Thank you very much, looking forward to it.
