- 1:41Speaker 5: This is good content. Yeah, yeah, totally. Don't waste it here.
- 1:44Speaker 3: This is our shot at the big time, fellas.
- 1:46Speaker 5: 100% Jason is. You know, drive. Drive time radio.
- 1:51Speaker 10: Losers.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Joke.
- 1:52Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 5: You know, bricky radio. This is the big time. Yeah, man.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Someone's just got a good text here. Why don't you
- 1:57Speaker 5: play the national anthem? That's a great question.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I forgot all about it.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Oh, damn it.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah, we did too.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Oh, damn. Shocking. Damn it. We'll do that tomorrow.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Bugs.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah. Hey, do we still do in the breakfast?
- 2:08Speaker 7: Because I'm just sort of reacquainting myself here.
- 2:12Speaker 3: What's coming up on the show?
- 2:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I think we could do that.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Well, let's do that then. What's happening on The Big
- 2:21Speaker 5: Show with Old Mogi? It's a secret. Oh, is that
- 2:26Speaker 5: how they do it on breakfast? Yeah, yeah. That's how
- 2:28Speaker 5: I thought we could.
- 2:29Speaker 9: Alternatively, we would say that last couple of chances to
- 2:32Speaker 9: get yourself involved with Would You Rather.
- 2:33Speaker 5: We're drawing it on Monday, fellas. Yes, we are.
- 2:35Speaker 9: This is a competition where you could go to either
- 2:38Speaker 9: Bathurst or the NRL Grand Final in Sydney.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Listen out for the queue to call. Give us a
- 2:43Speaker 5: ring on 0800 HODAKI. And it could be you and
- 2:45Speaker 5: a mate.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Imagine if it was you and a mate. Oh, so good.
- 2:48Speaker 5: It's not going to be you if you don't call us.
- 2:50Speaker 10: Yes.
- 2:50Speaker 5: It definitely won't be you, Keezy. You're not going in.
- 2:52Speaker 5: You're going to Japan. That's right.
- 2:54Speaker 9: We've got, because we're on breakfast now, cool people want
- 2:57Speaker 9: to talk to us.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Jacob Laban.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 5: From the Warriors.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Is he a warrior?
- 3:02Speaker 5: Have we ever spoken to a warrior before? No. Oh,
- 3:05Speaker 5: one time we talked to Charns.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 5: But he thought he was doing brekkie and he was
- 3:10Speaker 5: gutted when he found out it was us. Yeah, that's right.
- 3:11Speaker 5: RTS came in, but he was injured. Does that count?
- 3:13Speaker 5: And he was gutted when he.
- 3:14Speaker 10: Heard it was us.
- 3:14Speaker 5: He was absolutely furious. He thought it was Jerry Mania.
- 3:17Speaker 10: He did.
- 3:18Speaker 3: He thought his career was over.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Yeah. He's like, where's Matt?
- 3:23Speaker 9: And also a couple of Auckland Football Club players, Callan
- 3:26Speaker 9: Elliott and Lockie Brook will be in later in the show.
- 3:28Speaker 9: And in between them, we'll be talking about all sorts
- 3:30Speaker 9: of cool stuff.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Probably a bit of farmer chat, fellas.
- 3:33Speaker 7: Yeah, we had a very controversial text last night. We'll
- 3:37Speaker 7: get into that later. Yeah, we'll address that later on.
- 3:39Speaker 7: In the meantime, let's kick off with some Foo Fighters.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Good morning. Good morning.
- 3:43Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:47Speaker 7: Yes, indeed, the tuts there on the Big Show breakfast
- 3:50Speaker 7: this Thursday morning. I want to say a big thanks
- 3:52Speaker 7: to who have received a couple of texts on 3483
- 3:56Speaker 7: saying you guys are absolute backbones. Not only did you
- 3:59Speaker 7: do the drive show yesterday afternoon, you're straight back into
- 4:03Speaker 7: it this morning.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Hardcore work, fellas. Well done.
- 4:07Speaker 5: That's up to, what is that?
- 4:08Speaker 9: Is that almost eight hours we're looking at doing across,
- 4:12Speaker 9: you know, sort of 18 hours.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Yeah, it's... Or 24 hours. It's a lot.
- 4:16Speaker 3: It's phenomenal. Hey, but listen... It's almost a full work day.
- 4:18Speaker 9: It's a huge mental load. Have you ever taken a
- 4:21Speaker 9: huge mental load before, Keezy?
- 4:23Speaker 5: Not to this.
- 4:24Speaker 9: Nah.
- 4:25Speaker 7: No.
- 4:25Speaker 5: Certainly not at this time. Jeez. I can't see that
- 4:28Speaker 5: text anywhere, Jase. Where is that?
- 4:29Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 4:30Speaker 7: You just need to scroll down a little bit there.
- 4:32Speaker 7: It's a new system we're running. You see, Keezy hasn't
- 4:34Speaker 7: quite got to grips with it.
- 4:35Speaker 3: But listen... It is different, isn't it? It is.
- 4:39Speaker 7: I was talking about when I was walking in today,
- 4:42Speaker 7: it's a very different place, the city, at 5 o'clock
- 4:44Speaker 7: in the morning.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I'll tell you that much.
- 4:46Speaker 7: And I always find when I'm doing breakfast, me old
- 4:49Speaker 7: sleep's a bit up and down because it's that classic
- 4:52Speaker 7: thing of going, oh, the alarm's about to go off,
- 4:54Speaker 7: and yet it's only 1 o'clock in the morning.
- 4:56Speaker 9: Yeah, I went to bed early. I was in bed
- 4:59Speaker 9: at 8, and then I got up and watched some TV,
- 5:01Speaker 9: and then I went to bed at 9.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Wow.
- 5:03Speaker 5: I'm a bit of a rebel, fellas.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you're hardcore, man.
- 5:06Speaker 9: And it was a pretty good sleep, but a lot
- 5:08Speaker 9: of dreams. And then my old mate, the Tui, got
- 5:12Speaker 9: a Tui that visited me, and he was an absolute
- 5:14Speaker 9: nightmare last spring and summer, and then buggered off. I
- 5:17Speaker 9: was hoping that he got electrocuted or something.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Right.
- 5:20Speaker 3: You all found a mate somewhere else.
- 5:23Speaker 5: More electrocuted.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 5:25Speaker 5: And now he's back.
- 5:26Speaker 9: And the good news is he's moved from the tree
- 5:28Speaker 9: out the back of our house to the tree right
- 5:30Speaker 9: outside my bedroom window.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Oh, lovely.
- 5:32Speaker 9: And it's great because he turns up at about four
- 5:34Speaker 9: o'clock in the morning. He's talking about his territory and
- 5:36Speaker 9: he wants to get laid. Are you sure it's the
- 5:39Speaker 9: same one?
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 1: 100% sure.
- 5:42Speaker 3: They're territorial birds, Keezy.
- 5:44Speaker 5: No, I know. It's just that there's a lot of
- 5:46Speaker 5: tui out there.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 5: You know, how can you be sure it's the same tui?
- 5:49Speaker 5: They look similar. They sound similar. It looks exactly the same.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 5: It sounds exactly the same. It's got a real, like.
- 5:55Speaker 9: Annoying sort of, you know, entitled sort of a vibe
- 5:59Speaker 9: to it, you know?
- 5:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Yeah, right. Shock and bastard. Whereas all the other Tui
- 6:02Speaker 5: I know are pretty humble and chill. Pretty humble Tui, exactly.
- 6:05Speaker 5: That's right.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Well, you know, where you live, it's pretty fancy pants. Oh, exactly.
- 6:08Speaker 3: That's right.
- 6:09Speaker 7: It's a sort of Pajero kind of Tui, whereas out west,
- 6:12Speaker 7: they're just, you know, they're just backbones.
- 6:14Speaker 9: And I think the only thing, because what we learned
- 6:16Speaker 9: last time, because we spoke to an expert, didn't we,
- 6:18Speaker 9: last year?
- 6:18Speaker 5: Was it a year ago? God.
- 6:21Speaker 9: And it's territorial and wanting to find a mate. So
- 6:25Speaker 9: I think what I need to do is get this
- 6:27Speaker 9: bird laid. So the question is, how do I do that?
- 6:30Speaker 9: How do you get a Tui laid?
- 6:33Speaker 5: Anybody know? 3483, text us.
- 6:35Speaker 8: While you're texting us about how to get a Tui laid,
- 6:38Speaker 8: by the way, why don't you text on three what
- 6:40Speaker 8: you're having for breakfast this morning?
- 6:42Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 6:43Speaker 3: How good.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Just relax, fellas. Just relax. I know it's exciting.
- 6:46Speaker 8: What's for breakfast, New Zealand? That's coming up shortly on
- 6:48Speaker 8: The Big Show. So text us 3483. Every text in
- 6:52Speaker 8: the draw for a prize.
- 6:56Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 6:59Speaker 12: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 7:01Speaker 7: Brian Mellon there on the Big Show breakfast this Thursday morning.
- 7:05Speaker 7: Keep those texts coming on 3483 for what's on the
- 7:08Speaker 7: breakfast with me, Keezy. In the meantime, we're trying to
- 7:11Speaker 7: figure out how to find a mate for a tui.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right.
- 7:14Speaker 9: I've got a recurring issue at my house where every
- 7:19Speaker 9: spring and summer a tui comes back, parks itself outside
- 7:22Speaker 9: my bedroom window and doesn't shut up from about 4 a.m.
- 7:26Speaker 9: It's territorial, Keezy. We worked this out last year, and
- 7:29Speaker 9: it's searching for a mate. Now, I can't do much
- 7:32Speaker 9: about the territory thing outside of buying a shotgun, but
- 7:36Speaker 9: what we can do is try and get this bird
- 7:38Speaker 9: mated up, you know, get him a missus, get him
- 7:41Speaker 9: to shut up. There's nothing that will shut you up
- 7:43Speaker 9: quicker than getting a missus.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Absolutely. Just lie back and just be content.
- 7:49Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. So, look, I've done some research, fellas.
- 7:52Speaker 8: I've been deep into the, you know, I just Googled it.
- 7:57Speaker 8: So one of the things it says is to make
- 7:59Speaker 8: your backyard a welcoming natural habitat for the local bird population.
- 8:04Speaker 5: I've already done that. Yeah, it's got trees in it
- 8:06Speaker 5: and all that. Nah, but you have to do it
- 8:07Speaker 5: even more.
- 8:08Speaker 8: So, for example, you have to plant a whole lot
- 8:10Speaker 8: of really nectar-rich plants, like, for example, tui.
- 8:14Speaker 5: They love kowhai plants.
- 8:16Speaker 7: Yeah, the yellow flower there. You can hang a little
- 8:20Speaker 7: thing of honey water.
- 8:22Speaker 5: That's a good idea.
- 8:22Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 5: It'll make it seem like my tui, who's going to
- 8:25Speaker 5: need a name at some point, is rich.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 8:29Speaker 7: What you want to set up, essentially, is a place
- 8:33Speaker 7: that's so amazing that the female Tui flies past and goes,
- 8:37Speaker 7: hang about, check this out.
- 8:39Speaker 9: So even if he is, in the scheme of things,
- 8:41Speaker 9: an ugly and unattractive Tui.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Which he probably is. He's got a sick pad. Yeah,
- 8:45Speaker 5: he's got a nice pad. So a mirror.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Some honey juice, as you say there.
- 8:50Speaker 3: A little jacuzzi or something like that.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Yeah, a bird bath.
- 8:53Speaker 3: A bird bath.
- 8:54Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 8:54Speaker 5: Like one with jets in it. Yeah, one with jets.
- 8:57Speaker 3: A bird bath with jets.
- 9:00Speaker 5: And like neon lighting and stuff.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, some mood lighting.
- 9:04Speaker 8: It says here to plant some bottle brush, puniri and
- 9:08Speaker 8: rewa rewa, or you.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Could just go for the bird bath. Yeah, I think so.
- 9:12Speaker 5: I think the bath.
- 9:13Speaker 9: I think that's the sort of stuff that you do,
- 9:14Speaker 9: you know, what you're saying there, Keezy, if you're really desperate.
- 9:17Speaker 9: I think the easier path and probably the more effective
- 9:20Speaker 9: path would be to go with a mirror and a spa.
- 9:22Speaker 7: Yes.
- 9:23Speaker 5: Disco ball? Disco ball. Little pole? Well, they love the reflections.
- 9:27Speaker 5: They literally do.
- 9:28Speaker 9: They grab sparkly things, don't they, like a magpie, and
- 9:31Speaker 9: they chuck them up in their nest?
- 9:33Speaker 5: Tooie do.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 9:34Speaker 5: What about a cool necklace then?
- 9:36Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, a necklace would be good.
- 9:38Speaker 7: Imagine, yeah, so the Tui could be wearing a necklace
- 9:41Speaker 7: in the birdbath with Jets, drinking a glass of honey
- 9:46Speaker 7: water as she flies past.
- 9:48Speaker 9: Hot.
- 9:49Speaker 3: That is going to work a treat.
- 9:52Speaker 8: What are you having for breakfast, New Zealand? Give us
- 9:55Speaker 8: a text on 3483. We've got prizes to dish out.
- 9:58Speaker 8: So get stuck in.
- 10:00Speaker 3: In in the meantime here's Audioslave the.
- 10:03Speaker 12: Hauraki Big Show weekdays from 4 on Radio.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Hauraki time for your latest sport headlines thanks to Export
- 10:14Speaker 4: Ultra the beer for here the Warriors are sticking with
- 10:18Speaker 4: Mount Smart as their main home despite a sold-out crowd
- 10:21Speaker 4: of more than 48,000 packing Eden Park for their play-off
- 10:25Speaker 4: clash with the Knights this Sunday. Boss Cameron George says
- 10:28Speaker 4: there's no plan to move more games there, but Eden
- 10:31Speaker 4: Park staff have made the switch an easy one. America's
- 10:37Speaker 4: five largest professional sports leagues– NFL, basketball, baseball, ice hockey
- 10:43Speaker 4: and football– have banded together to address the harassment of
- 10:46Speaker 4: players and staff by losing gamblers.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Go ahead. Oh, okay.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Brin Rutkin, baby. And keeping an eye on the Tiger,
- 10:59Speaker 4: Tiger Woods, see what I did there, has returned to
- 11:02Speaker 4: the golf range for the first time since his car
- 11:04Speaker 4: crash in March. The 15-time major champion has been spotted
- 11:07Speaker 4: in the wild playing with balls in New Jersey.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Brin Rutkin, b * * * *.
- 11:14Speaker 3: G'day, Brin. G'day, mate.
- 11:16Speaker 5: It's good to see you, fellas.
- 11:17Speaker 4: So they've... I've got you back on breakfast day.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Yeah, mate, it was inevitable.
- 11:21Speaker 9: You can't pull one over an old brin. You spotted that, man.
- 11:24Speaker 9: Can you just give us a little look behind the
- 11:26Speaker 9: curtain there?
- 11:28Speaker 5: How do you choose? Because there's a lot happening in
- 11:30Speaker 5: the world of sport.
- 11:32Speaker 9: That one there about Tiger Woods, you think to yourself, well,
- 11:35Speaker 9: you know, does anybody care? But you've made it something
- 11:38Speaker 9: great there by doing those little play on words. How
- 11:40Speaker 9: do you make your choices in the morning? What time
- 11:42Speaker 9: are you up?
- 11:44Speaker 4: I get up around four is when I get up.
- 11:47Speaker 4: But I don't actually look at the sport headlines till
- 11:49Speaker 4: about 6.30. Really?
- 11:51Speaker 3: You just go porn early?
- 11:53Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Do you? That's a weird thing.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Really?
- 11:56Speaker 5: Well, I don't know if it's.
- 11:57Speaker 3: That weird, Keezy.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Is that what you do as well?
- 12:00Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I'm not saying that I do that,
- 12:01Speaker 3: but I'm just.
- 12:02Speaker 4: We could share links, actually.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Well, I don't know how to do the link thing.
- 12:05Speaker 5: He uses the magazines, yeah. He's mostly magazine and memory.
- 12:09Speaker 9: Yeah, analogue.
- 12:10Speaker 5: He's analogue.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:12Speaker 5: So we'll see you in an hour, Bryn, for the
- 12:14Speaker 5: 7.30 headlines, man.
- 12:15Speaker 4: I suppose so, yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Yeah, good work, mate.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Thanks, mate.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Good to have you back.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Bec?
- 12:21Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 3: She's not in yet.
- 12:22Speaker 5: No, this is... Oh, don't worry about it.
- 12:25Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 12:28Speaker 12: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 12:31Speaker 7: Back there on The Big Show Breakfast this Thursday morning.
- 12:34Speaker 7: The time is 6.36, which means it's time for.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Hey, guys. Text here from Steve.
- 12:42Speaker 3: What's on the breakfast?
- 12:44Speaker 5: With me, Keezy.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right.
- 12:49Speaker 8: The segment where you text in what you're having for
- 12:51Speaker 8: breakfast this Thursday morning on 3483 and.
- 12:54Speaker 5: We read it out. Yeah, man. So good.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I love it.
- 12:57Speaker 5: People love it. Going for like five years. Yeah, man.
- 13:01Speaker 8: G'day there, guys. Sardines on toast with a black coffee
- 13:06Speaker 8: and a dart.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yes. Well, you were talking about that yesterday, Mogi. Sardines.
- 13:11Speaker 5: The breath of champions. Yeah, yeah. Sardines are a rare
- 13:14Speaker 5: thing to have for your breakfast. Hang on a minute.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Who's that from? Doesn't say. Black coffee and a dart.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Sounds like it's from Mogi. Mogi? G'day, guys. Kyle here. Sandylands.
- 13:31Speaker 3: McLaughlin.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Who's Kyle McLaughlin?
- 13:34Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Muesli bar while I milk the cows. Oh, yeah. That's
- 13:41Speaker 5: the dream, isn't it?
- 13:42Speaker 3: You know what I'd do in that scenario?
- 13:44Speaker 7: I would, as I was squeezing the teat, I'd squeeze
- 13:48Speaker 7: the teat and the milk onto my muesli bar, make
- 13:51Speaker 7: it like a muesli bowl almost.
- 13:53Speaker 5: A muesli bowl. Like a bowl of muesli. Yeah, a
- 13:56Speaker 5: muesli bowl.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Fresh, creamy milk.
- 13:59Speaker 5: G'day there, guys. I'm having a steak and cheese pie.
- 14:02Speaker 5: Who is it?
- 14:03Speaker 3: Come on, man.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Come on, man. Are we going to do this right
- 14:05Speaker 5: or not? We didn't ask them to include their names.
- 14:08Speaker 5: That's right. Okay. G'day, guys. Doug here.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Bracewell.
- 14:12Speaker 5: Oh, Doug Bracewell. He's a backbone, is it? Nah, Doug Howlett.
- 14:15Speaker 8: G'day, guys. Doug Howlett here. A steak and cheese pie
- 14:18Speaker 8: with a blue V.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Yeah. Is that a, what do they call that there,
- 14:22Speaker 5: a tradie combo? Yeah, definitely. Well, Doug Hallett's put hashtag
- 14:25Speaker 5: tradie life on the end of that text.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:28Speaker 5: I didn't know it was a blue V.
- 14:29Speaker 9: Do you know, I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but
- 14:32Speaker 9: I've never had a blue V.
- 14:33Speaker 3: No, neither have I.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Have you not?
- 14:35Speaker 3: No, I haven't. Wow.
- 14:36Speaker 7: And back in the day, I loved me energy drinks.
- 14:39Speaker 7: If he could chuck a pixie caramel in there as well,
- 14:42Speaker 7: I'd be very happy.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Pixie caramel for dessert?
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 11: G'day, guys.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Adam here.
- 14:47Speaker 4: And.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Sandler....
- 14:49Speaker 5: I'm going to read the text word for word. G'day, guys.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Adam here. Not Ant or Sadler. Just so you know
- 14:58Speaker 5: out there, Jason and I have not read the text. No.
- 15:02Speaker 8: Greek yogurt and buttered dark rye toast plus instant coffee
- 15:06Speaker 8: with a bit of honey mixed in.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Got too much time on your hands, man. Get a job, man.
- 15:10Speaker 5: What are you doing?
- 15:11Speaker 3: It's a bit fancy pants for me. Honey and coffee? No.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Instant honey. Instant coffee? Instant coffee with honey mixer. I've
- 15:18Speaker 5: never had that.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Is that a hack? That's foul.
- 15:21Speaker 5: That's disgusting. That sounds yummy, man. That's the behavior of
- 15:24Speaker 5: a lunatic. Yeah, totally.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Seek help.
- 15:27Speaker 5: G'day, guys. Regan here.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Ronald.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Have you got one, man?
- 15:34Speaker 7: No.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Okay, if you think of one, you just yell it out. G'day, guys.
- 15:37Speaker 8: Truckee Regan here. Steak and cheese pie. Couple of these
- 15:41Speaker 8: to really get those heart palpitations going.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Cheers.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Yeah, good. It's good to start your day off with
- 15:48Speaker 3: a good heart palpitation.
- 15:50Speaker 5: G'day, guys. Adam here. Adam again. Different Adam. Oh, right.
- 15:55Speaker 8: I'm having a Steinlager Classic, a Dart, and then I
- 15:57Speaker 8: might fire up the barbecue to get my day running faster.
- 16:02Speaker 5: Good stuff, man.
- 16:05Speaker 8: Coming up shortly, another chance to get yourself in the
- 16:07Speaker 8: draw for Would You Rather. So keep an ear out
- 16:09Speaker 8: and get ready to call 0800 HODAKI.
- 16:11Speaker 12: The HODAKI Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio HODAKI.
- 16:15Speaker 12: One simple question. One weekend of a lifetime. Would you rather.
- 16:22Speaker 7: Yes, indeed, Wazzle Cars is up to you, New Zealand.
- 16:25Speaker 3: You decide.
- 16:27Speaker 7: We're getting down to the pointy end of the competition,
- 16:30Speaker 7: so get in there whenever you can is my advice.
- 16:32Speaker 8: Yeah, we'll be doing a bit of a blitz while
- 16:34Speaker 8: we're on, Brekkie fellas. We'll put someone in the draw
- 16:36Speaker 8: every single hour.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Yes, we're going to draw the winner for that, by
- 16:39Speaker 3: the way, on Monday.
- 16:40Speaker 5: On the Monday morning breakfast show, which we'll be doing
- 16:41Speaker 5: as well.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:43Speaker 5: Hang on, just quickly.
- 16:44Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 16:44Speaker 8: Just in case people are listening that don't know, you
- 16:46Speaker 8: get to choose between either going to the NRL Grand
- 16:48Speaker 8: Final or the Bathurst 1000, everything taken care of, flights, transfers, hotel, everything.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Jase, that's 1,000 laps they do. Yeah. No, it's not true.
- 16:59Speaker 5: 1,000 laps. No, it's not. So that takes quite a while.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll take a couple of days, wouldn't it?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:04Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:06Speaker 7: Yes.
- 17:06Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Hey, let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Brock, how's life?
- 17:10Speaker 8: Life's good, thanks fellas.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Good on you, mate. Tell me, Brooke, what do you
- 17:14Speaker 3: do for a crust? I'm a nurse, actually.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Oh, backbone.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Bloody backbone. Yeah, there's a backbone.
- 17:23Speaker 5: How's it going there, mate? Things are pretty tough at
- 17:25Speaker 5: the moment for you bastards.
- 17:27Speaker 3: It's been pretty busy, actually, yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 10: I can imagine, I can imagine.
- 17:31Speaker 5: You don't want to be busy when you're a nurse.
- 17:33Speaker 5: You want to be bored.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Yeah, you want to be bored with nothing to do.
- 17:36Speaker 3: When do you start today, Brooke?
- 17:39Speaker 5: Nine minutes. Oh, a bit of crack.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, well, let's crack. Let's get on with it then.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Waz or cars?
- 17:47Speaker 11: Waz for sure, fellas.
- 17:48Speaker 5: Yeah, good on you. Good on you.
- 17:50Speaker 3: You're a backbone. Good on, mate. Thanks for the work
- 17:52Speaker 3: you do, by the way, Brooke. It's very important.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Oh, thanks, guys. No worries, bro. That was patronising.
- 17:57Speaker 3: What do you mean, man?
- 17:58Speaker 5: Hey, Brooke, who would you take with you if you won, man?
- 18:01Speaker 7: I'd take my partner.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Yeah, right. Yeah, nice. All right. Well, you're
- 18:05Speaker 5: in the draw, mate. You hold the line. See you, mate.
- 18:09Speaker 7: Bye.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Hang on. Probably there.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Get in, you mad bastard. It sounds like you're in
- 18:14Speaker 3: the shed, mate.
- 18:15Speaker 8: Yeah, I am, mate.
- 18:17Speaker 5: I am. How many head are you getting through today, man?
- 18:22Speaker 5: How many head?
- 18:23Speaker 10: He's 400 cows.
- 18:23Speaker 5: 400 cows.
- 18:25Speaker 10: 400.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Bloody hell.
- 18:26Speaker 7: I mean, Casey, here you are, mate, moaning about having
- 18:29Speaker 7: to do a bit of radio. Buddy Ian is bloody
- 18:33Speaker 7: breaking his back every day because he's a backbone.
- 18:37Speaker 5: That's right. Yeah. I could do 400 in my sleep, Ian.
- 18:42Speaker 10: Oh, you're a legend, mate.
- 18:43Speaker 3: You're a legend.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Ian, what are you thinking, mate? Bathurst or NRL grand final?
- 18:48Speaker 3: The grand final. Yeah, good on you, mate. Whereabouts is
- 18:51Speaker 3: your farm, by the way, Ian?
- 18:53Speaker 5: Red Rye.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 18:55Speaker 5: That's backbone country, Red Rye. And how many of you
- 18:58Speaker 5: is out there? Is it just yourself? Myself and my wife. Oh, yeah.
- 19:02Speaker 10: Classic.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Great life, hey.
- 19:04Speaker 5: Classic.
- 19:04Speaker 3: You know, working the land.
- 19:08Speaker 5: Yeah, and other stuff. Hey, Ian, you hold the line, mate.
- 19:12Speaker 5: You're in the draw, all right?
- 19:14Speaker 2: Cool.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Thanks, guys.
- 19:15Speaker 5: Back to it, brother.
- 19:16Speaker 3: You see, he's no nonsense, Keezy.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Did you hear that?
- 19:19Speaker 3: He's no nonsense. No moaning and groaning and stuff.
- 19:22Speaker 5: What are you talking about?
- 19:23Speaker 3: He just gets on with the job at hand.
- 19:25Speaker 5: Very economical with the words as well.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 19:27Speaker 9: You know, why say more words than are absolutely required
- 19:30Speaker 9: at any given time? A man of few words. Big actions, though, Keezy.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Big actions.
- 19:35Speaker 5: Big actions every single day.
- 19:38Speaker 3: You see, some people are just like.
- 19:39Speaker 5: When do you reckon the last time was he said
- 19:42Speaker 5: he loved his missus? Probably never.
- 19:44Speaker 9: But she knows by his actions. He's up every day
- 19:46Speaker 9: working like a bastard.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Because when he asked.
- 19:50Speaker 7: asked to marry her, it wasn't a romantic proposal.
- 19:53Speaker 3: It was like, what do you reckon?
- 19:54Speaker 5: It was like, I suppose we should get married.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Makes sense.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Suppose you'd be wanting to make an honest woman of you,
- 20:01Speaker 5: would you? Yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Right, I've got to go and put some posts in.
- 20:05Speaker 5: Backbone. Oh, you know your farmer's shit.
- 20:07Speaker 8: By the way, shout out to boyship.co.nz. If you're keen
- 20:10Speaker 8: to go to the grand final, it's sold out. However,
- 20:12Speaker 8: there are still some packages for the Bathurst trip.
- 20:18Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 20:21Speaker 12: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones.
- 20:26Speaker 7: Hope your Thursday morning's going along very calmly and nicely.
- 20:31Speaker 7: You're listening to The Big Show Breakfast, incidentally, brought to
- 20:35Speaker 7: you by Bunnings Trade.
- 20:37Speaker 8: Build big rewards with new Power Pass Pro rewards by Bunnings.
- 20:42Speaker 7: I've actually got a bit of stuff I've got to
- 20:44Speaker 7: do around the place in the weekend there.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Inside? Inside, yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 7: I like nothing better than a trip to Bunnings.
- 20:55Speaker 5: What are you going to do in the apartment?
- 20:59Speaker 9: You go to Bunnings and you just go in the
- 21:00Speaker 9: little playground they've got their own.
- 21:02Speaker 5: Yes. It's very handy while his wife sort of goes
- 21:04Speaker 5: around and gets a few bits and pieces. Do Bunnings
- 21:07Speaker 5: have a playground? Oh, yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 3: And then I go to the little cafe in there.
- 21:12Speaker 5: Have a fluffy.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Yeah, a little fluffy. A marshmallow on top.
- 21:17Speaker 5: God, that sounds great, man. And he's bouncing off the
- 21:19Speaker 5: walls for the rest of the day. Yeah, right.
- 21:21Speaker 7: Well, that's where my wife actually takes me to the
- 21:22Speaker 7: playground and just chucks me in the thing with all
- 21:25Speaker 7: the little balls.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Then there's an inevitable crash of your mood. You start screaming.
- 21:30Speaker 7: Yeah, I just have a full-on tantrum in the middle
- 21:33Speaker 7: of Bunnings on my back.
- 21:34Speaker 3: And she drags you out screaming. And she drags me
- 21:36Speaker 3: out screaming.
- 21:37Speaker 5: And then you fall asleep at the car seat on
- 21:39Speaker 5: the way home. Yes.
- 21:40Speaker 8: God, it sounds great, man. Maybe I should go to Bunnings. Hey,
- 21:46Speaker 8: big hour coming up, fellas. Another chance to get in
- 21:48Speaker 8: the draw for Would You Rather. Change to Jacob Laban soon.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Massive game.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Should I run that? You should probably leave that to
- 21:55Speaker 3: me predominantly. Yeah, good.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Mogi will just be quiet. Yeah, nice.
- 21:59Speaker 8: But coming up next, though, addressing a controversy involving farmers.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 22:05Speaker 3: It's awesome.
- 22:06Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 22:10Speaker 7: Nirvana there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show breakfast. It
- 22:15Speaker 7: is nine minutes past seven o'clock. Now, we got in
- 22:19Speaker 7: to work this morning and we saw a text on
- 22:21Speaker 7: the text machine from last night's show.
- 22:23Speaker 5: That's right.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Where we were chatting. We were asked some advice by
- 22:28Speaker 3: a farmer.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right.
- 22:29Speaker 8: So the advice question we were asked was, hey, I'm
- 22:32Speaker 8: a farmer. I'm coming up to the big smoke.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I'd love to go get a hot pot, which is
- 22:35Speaker 5: a restaurant and a style of food that, Jase, you're
- 22:38Speaker 5: addicted to.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Yes.
- 22:40Speaker 8: And then for some reason, I can't remember, but we
- 22:42Speaker 8: gave some advice and then we got a text saying, oi,
- 22:45Speaker 8: you C-words, better stop dissing farmers. So Pugs has actually
- 22:50Speaker 8: managed to get the audio for us so we can
- 22:51Speaker 8: listen back. Just have a listen to this. Does it
- 22:53Speaker 8: sound like we're dissing farmers?
- 22:55Speaker 3: I love it when people come up from up south.
- 22:57Speaker 5: From up south, yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 3: From down south.
- 22:59Speaker 5: Oh, you mean up north.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Down north. To the big smoke and the awe in
- 23:03Speaker 3: their eyes.
- 23:04Speaker 5: I know.
- 23:04Speaker 3: And they go.
- 23:05Speaker 5: All the possibilities.
- 23:06Speaker 3: It's like two-story buildings.
- 23:08Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 23:09Speaker 3: And there's like cars.
- 23:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 3: And trains.
- 23:14Speaker 5: Anyone's lining up to get their photo with the Sky Tower.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Et cetera, et cetera.
- 23:18Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:19Speaker 5: Or Kelly Tartan. Kelly Tartan. The amount of farmers, you know,
- 23:22Speaker 5: they've got that viewing platform up there. Yes, at the
- 23:24Speaker 5: Sky City.
- 23:24Speaker 3: At the top of the Sky City.
- 23:26Speaker 9: The amount of farmers I've seen crawling around on their
- 23:29Speaker 9: hands and knees because they're terrified they're going to fall
- 23:31Speaker 9: off the Sky Tower. I wish I had a dollar
- 23:33Speaker 9: for every time.
- 23:34Speaker 7: A mate came up from down south and he'd never
- 23:36Speaker 7: been to the big smoke and stuff. And I took
- 23:39Speaker 7: him to Mission Bay. He'd never seen the water before.
- 23:42Speaker 4: No.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 23:42Speaker 7: And he was just, he was almost having a panic
- 23:45Speaker 7: attack because he was so overwhelmed.
- 23:49Speaker 3: By the beauty of the ocean, you know what I mean?
- 23:51Speaker 5: All he'd seen before was a trough.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:53Speaker 5: Oh, wow. So he's like, so let me get this straight.
- 23:55Speaker 5: This is like a really big trough.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah, well, no, it's just a trough you have in
- 23:59Speaker 3: the paddock there.
- 24:00Speaker 5: No, no, no, he thought.
- 24:01Speaker 3: He thought the ocean was a trough.
- 24:04Speaker 5: Far out. Was he like, man, how big is the
- 24:05Speaker 5: cow that drinks out of this?
- 24:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, totally. That's all G, isn't it?
- 24:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I don't know what that person's complaining about.
- 24:14Speaker 5: Did they come in and use the C word?
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:18Speaker 5: A bit over the top.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Yes.
- 24:19Speaker 5: A bit over the top.
- 24:20Speaker 8: And it's not like we're, you know what I mean,
- 24:22Speaker 8: making stuff up or having a go or anything because
- 24:25Speaker 8: we live in Auckland.
- 24:26Speaker 5: Jase, you live in the CBD.
- 24:28Speaker 8: How many farmers have you seen here terrified of the
- 24:30Speaker 8: tall buildings and stuff?
- 24:31Speaker 5: It's just a fact.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Totally.
- 24:32Speaker 5: You were walking in this morning, Jase.
- 24:33Speaker 9: You said you saw a couple of farmers getting a
- 24:36Speaker 9: selfie taken with a set of streetlights.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:39Speaker 5: I've never seen light, you know, traffic lights before.
- 24:42Speaker 10: 100%.
- 24:42Speaker 5: I think that's cool, though.
- 24:43Speaker 10: Yes.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Like, it's celebrated.
- 24:44Speaker 7: Well, that's exactly my attitude too, Keezy, is I love
- 24:48Speaker 7: the innocence of it.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 24:50Speaker 7: You know, it's like a little kid seeing things for
- 24:53Speaker 7: the first time and the wonder.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:56Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 24:57Speaker 8: Have you ever seen, I think this was like last
- 24:59Speaker 8: year or maybe the year before, I was walking from
- 25:01Speaker 8: my car and I saw a farmer walking just outside here.
- 25:05Speaker 5: And an aeroplane flew overhead.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Wow.
- 25:08Speaker 5: And honestly, he stopped and pointed up.
- 25:10Speaker 3: He was just like, wow.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:12Speaker 10: Yes, yes.
- 25:12Speaker 8: And then tried to take a photo of it with
- 25:14Speaker 8: his phone. Yeah, so look, all I'm saying, I don't
- 25:18Speaker 8: think that we did anything wrong.
- 25:20Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right. So I think that person should just.
- 25:22Speaker 3: It's something to celebrate. You know what I mean?
- 25:24Speaker 5: Yeah, 100%.
- 25:25Speaker 7: And can I just say, farmers are always welcome in
- 25:29Speaker 7: the big smoke.
- 25:30Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 25:31Speaker 3: The CBD.
- 25:32Speaker 4: 100%.
- 25:32Speaker 3: We love our farmers.
- 25:33Speaker 10: 100%.
- 25:33Speaker 5: 3483, are you a farmer? Do we have B for
- 25:37Speaker 5: are we all G?
- 25:38Speaker 1: Yeah, cool.
- 25:38Speaker 5: Thank you. Just need to know, all right?
- 25:39Speaker 3: Here's the dandy Warhols.
- 25:41Speaker 5: Jacob Laban on up next.
- 25:43Speaker 6: Oh, wow.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Chat wars. How good.
- 25:51Speaker 7: The Kuranbury's there on the big show breakfast this Thursday morning.
- 25:56Speaker 7: The time is 20 minutes past 7 o'clock. And, fellas,
- 25:58Speaker 7: I don't need to say it, but I will. Massive
- 26:01Speaker 7: game this Sunday. The Warriors versus the Knights at a
- 26:05Speaker 7: sold-out Eden Park. We felt it was prudent at this
- 26:09Speaker 7: point to get on a warrior, to have a little
- 26:11Speaker 7: bit of a chitty chat before the game. And we've
- 26:14Speaker 7: got the one and only Jacob Laban.
- 26:17Speaker 3: G'day, Jacob. How's life?
- 26:18Speaker 10: It's good morning. Yeah, life's good.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Good on you, mate.
- 26:22Speaker 7: I've got to say, man, you must, I mean, I
- 26:24Speaker 7: know Mount Smart is your home, but a sold-out Eden Park,
- 26:29Speaker 7: you guys must be fizzing.
- 26:32Speaker 10: Yeah, no, we're pretty pumped.
- 26:34Speaker 2: When we got told it was under 20 minutes or so,
- 26:37Speaker 2: we were just like, wow, this is going to be crazy.
- 26:41Speaker 9: And pretty amazing facilities they've got there at Eden Park.
- 26:44Speaker 9: I mean, I've been going to Mount Smart since I
- 26:46Speaker 9: was a kid following you fellas, but it must be
- 26:48Speaker 9: a treat for you guys to have some hot water
- 26:50Speaker 9: in the changing rooms.
- 26:52Speaker 10: Yeah, it's pretty good. The facilities are good. As you know,
- 26:57Speaker 10: that's New Zealand's international stadium. So, yeah, they're pretty good.
- 27:01Speaker 8: Hey, Jacob, one thing that I've loved about the WAs,
- 27:04Speaker 8: especially this year, is you've got that nice mix of
- 27:06Speaker 8: young fellas coming through like you and Lekha and Tanner
- 27:09Speaker 8: doing a good job. But then you've got that great
- 27:11Speaker 8: experience here, James Fisher-Harris, your Kurt Capewah. And I feel
- 27:15Speaker 8: like they've struck the right balance. How is it for
- 27:17Speaker 8: you as a younger guy coming through playing with the
- 27:19Speaker 8: likes of, you know, Fish and Capewell?
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been pretty awesome. I feel like they've helped
- 27:25Speaker 2: us young boys develop even more. You know, he's like,
- 27:28Speaker 2: you would have heard, iron sharpened irons at training. There's
- 27:32Speaker 2: no egos and, like, they allow us to, you know,
- 27:35Speaker 2: challenge them and then they challenge us.
- 27:36Speaker 10: So it's good for healthy relationships and, yeah, good for training.
- 27:42Speaker 9: Fish is an absolute weapon. Won the Simon Manorine medal
- 27:46Speaker 9: the other night. He must have been stoked. Was that
- 27:48Speaker 9: an occasion....
- 27:50Speaker 5: Did you see him actually crack a smile after that, man?
- 27:54Speaker 10: No, yeah.
- 27:55Speaker 2: He's always got that serious face on, but underneath that,
- 27:59Speaker 2: he's a pretty funny guy.
- 28:00Speaker 5: I mean, we've heard that. We've heard he's a funny guy.
- 28:03Speaker 5: I just can't picture it. I really like to think so.
- 28:06Speaker 7: Jacob, obviously it was a disappointment last weekend for you fellas.
- 28:12Speaker 7: How do you feel the team has bounced back from that?
- 28:15Speaker 7: How's training been this week?
- 28:17Speaker 10: I felt like we balanced back pretty good. We tried
- 28:20Speaker 10: to focus on training.
- 28:21Speaker 2: We've got our big session today, but we had our
- 28:23Speaker 2: fundamentals training on, I think it was Tuesday.
- 28:26Speaker 10: Yeah, the boys dialed in, refocused, and I felt like
- 28:30Speaker 10: we were locked in and just concentrated.
- 28:32Speaker 5: How good.
- 28:33Speaker 8: You're taking on the Knights this Sunday, man, at Eden Park,
- 28:36Speaker 8: as we said. The Knights have had a pretty, like,
- 28:38Speaker 8: injury-interrupted season themselves, but they seem to be, everyone seems
- 28:42Speaker 8: to be firming nicely ahead of this game. Of course,
- 28:44Speaker 8: they've got a pretty dangerous left side, man, and obviously
- 28:47Speaker 8: you're going to be out there marking them as well.
- 28:49Speaker 8: So what's the homework on stopping the Knights?
- 28:53Speaker 2: Oh, I think a no-brainer, probably Kellen Ponga. Like, he's
- 28:55Speaker 2: their indicator, and wherever he is, that's where the sheep's
- 28:59Speaker 2: most likely.
- 29:00Speaker 10: Going to run, so... we, you know, identify him then
- 29:03Speaker 10: hopefully we can stop him.
- 29:04Speaker 9: It's a pretty simple message there, isn't it, Jacob? You
- 29:07Speaker 9: smash him hard and you smash him early.
- 29:09Speaker 10: Yeah, pretty much.
- 29:11Speaker 9: Hey, before you get out onto the field, mate, what
- 29:14Speaker 9: sort of music are you listening to to fire up?
- 29:17Speaker 10: Oh, pretty much anything and everything. Bit of rap, bit
- 29:22Speaker 10: of house music, bit of.
- 29:25Speaker 5: Tom Petty?
- 29:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Bit of Green Day?
- 29:28Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:30Speaker 5: Yeah, right, okay.
- 29:31Speaker 8: I don't know if Green Day would fire me up personally.
- 29:34Speaker 8: But yeah, so like Jacob, one thing I need to know, man,
- 29:38Speaker 8: is the blonde haircut.
- 29:40Speaker 7: Man.
- 29:40Speaker 5: Is that the go nowadays?
- 29:41Speaker 1: Is it?
- 29:41Speaker 5: Because I'm thinking of changing my hairstyle.
- 29:45Speaker 10: Nah, it's mainly for my mum so she can see me.
- 29:50Speaker 2: I had a blonde in college and every time I play,
- 29:53Speaker 2: she's like, oh, you should dive back to Bronx because
- 29:55Speaker 2: I keep thinking you're Eddie.
- 29:57Speaker 11: Yeah, right.
- 29:57Speaker 5: I think you need to get your mum a bigger
- 29:59Speaker 5: TV or something, man.
- 30:00Speaker 10: She has the biggest glasses and she still can't see me.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 30:04Speaker 7: Hey, well, Jacob, all the best, mate. Go out there
- 30:07Speaker 7: and do the business on Sunday, eh?
- 30:10Speaker 5: No, sweet. Thank you, guys.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Appreciate it. Good on you, man.
- 30:12Speaker 5: Have a good one.
- 30:14Speaker 8: And, of course, the WAA is taking on the Knights
- 30:15Speaker 8: this Sunday. Eden Park, if you've got tickets that you're
- 30:17Speaker 8: heading along, let us know on 3483. It's going to
- 30:19Speaker 8: be an absolute ripper.
- 30:21Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 30:30Speaker 5: Sport Headlines with Bryn Rudkin.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Time for your latest Sport Headlines, thanks to Export Ultra,
- 30:36Speaker 4: the beer for here. The Warriors are loving life at
- 30:39Speaker 4: Eden Park with a sold-out crowd of more than 48,000
- 30:42Speaker 4: ready for Sunday's knockout clash with the Knights. CEO Cameron
- 30:46Speaker 4: George says stadium staff have made the switch from Mount
- 30:49Speaker 4: Smart a breeze.
- 30:51Speaker 5: Brin Rutkin.
- 30:53Speaker 4: America's biggest sports leagues are teaming up to crack down
- 30:56Speaker 4: on gamblers abusing players and staff. Ironically, they all make
- 30:59Speaker 4: big money from sports betting advertising.
- 31:02Speaker 5: Brin Rutkin, baby.
- 31:04Speaker 4: And venues for the 2030 Winter Olympics have been confirmed.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Events will be held in Lyon and the French Alps,
- 31:10Speaker 4: except for speed skating, which will take place in the Netherlands.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Great! I was wondering about the speed skating, what they'd
- 31:17Speaker 5: do with that.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's going to happen in the Netherlands.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Good to have that ironed out.
- 31:21Speaker 7: Yeah, well, it's the place to have it, isn't it?
- 31:23Speaker 7: Can I ask you, Bryn, you're running the Kizimo there.
- 31:27Speaker 7: What was the thinking behind that?
- 31:30Speaker 4: Well, obviously, Keezy does a great job with his.
- 31:33Speaker 5: He does, doesn't he?
- 31:35Speaker 4: And I felt really motivated to do the same.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Follow suit.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Do you reckon.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Bryn Rudkin sort of looks like, I don't know, the
- 31:43Speaker 5: kind of Keezy that you'd actually want to take home
- 31:45Speaker 5: to your mum to meet your parents?
- 31:47Speaker 4: I have met a few mums, actually.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Steady on, man.
- 31:52Speaker 5: He's a shocker. He's right up there in the search history. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Come on, Bryn.
- 31:57Speaker 5: That's a second porn reference.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 32:00Speaker 5: Is this becoming a thing? An issue. Porn Rudkin. Porn Rudkin. Hey,
- 32:06Speaker 5: we'll see you.
- 32:06Speaker 3: In an hour, Porn Rudkin.
- 32:07Speaker 10: Sure.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Good on you, mates. Here's to Black Keys. Turn it up.
- 32:13Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 32:20Speaker 7: The Black Keys there on the big show breakfast this
- 32:23Speaker 7: Thursday morning. The time's 7.37 and we've had a bit
- 32:28Speaker 7: of a thing happen with farmers.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Misinterpretations, can I put it that way?
- 32:34Speaker 5: And that's the thing, right, because we love farmers. They're
- 32:36Speaker 5: the backbone of this nation.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Of course we do.
- 32:38Speaker 5: They're the backbone of the country.
- 32:39Speaker 8: A huge portion of our listeners are farmers and we
- 32:42Speaker 8: absolutely love them. So this morning when we got in,
- 32:44Speaker 8: we realised we had a text from late last night
- 32:46Speaker 8: which said, Oi, you C-words better stop dissing farmers.
- 32:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, they're plain talkers.
- 32:51Speaker 9: You know where you stand with a farmer, and that
- 32:53Speaker 9: text is a perfect example of it.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Men are few words and woman.
- 32:58Speaker 8: So, look, there's a lot of text coming in on 3483,
- 33:00Speaker 8: farm farmers and the like.
- 33:02Speaker 5: So....
- 33:03Speaker 8: You guys are farming bogeys and your giant honkers. So
- 33:06Speaker 8: that's obviously from a farmer trying to get back at us.
- 33:09Speaker 5: And fair enough.
- 33:09Speaker 3: He's having a little dig there.
- 33:12Speaker 8: Hamilton Dairy Farmer, 270 cows. Farming is just a grumpy industry.
- 33:16Speaker 8: So that's from a farmer.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That guy gets it. But, you know,
- 33:20Speaker 5: we don't want you to be grumpy. Well, that's fine.
- 33:22Speaker 5: But if you are grumpy, that's your choice.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Yeah. Just keep it on the farm, that's all. Don't
- 33:26Speaker 3: bring it to the big smoke.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Or do you? G'day, fellas.
- 33:32Speaker 8: Ruben here from Kamara. I'm out in the valley counting
- 33:36Speaker 8: my swedes at the minute.
- 33:37Speaker 5: Keep stiff, boys. Have a good day. You know, it's
- 33:39Speaker 5: a lovely technical term. That's nice. Counting swedes. It's a
- 33:42Speaker 5: bloody good one. G'day, guys. I'm not a farmer, but
- 33:44Speaker 5: I'm happy to call you guys a pack of C's
- 33:46Speaker 5: if that helps.
- 33:47Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Well, I mean, it's neither here nor there, really.
- 33:51Speaker 5: This is an interesting one. This is from the point
- 33:52Speaker 5: of view of a farmer. G'day, guys.
- 33:56Speaker 8: I was brought up on high country stations here in Canterbury.
- 33:58Speaker 8: Farming is piss easy. You just sit in a truck
- 34:01Speaker 8: or tractor half the day driving from block to block.
- 34:03Speaker 5: Your dogs do all the work.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, your farm dog.
- 34:06Speaker 5: Yeah, everybody knows that.
- 34:07Speaker 7: I read an amazing statistic about farm dogs and the
- 34:10Speaker 7: amount of area they cover in one day.
- 34:13Speaker 3: It's quite phenomenal.
- 34:14Speaker 5: What, a dog?
- 34:15Speaker 3: A dog, a farm dog.
- 34:16Speaker 5: They do a lot. And then you can compare that
- 34:18Speaker 5: to the actual farmer.
- 34:19Speaker 10: Yes.
- 34:20Speaker 5: Practically doesn't move at all, the farmer. He just sits
- 34:22Speaker 5: there on his four-wheel drive or his tractor. He's driving around.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Goes and twangs a few wires on the fence.
- 34:30Speaker 5: They do because they go over there and they play
- 34:32Speaker 5: it like an instrument. I think you in particular, Jay,
- 34:36Speaker 5: should probably just tone it down a wee bit. What
- 34:38Speaker 5: do you mean?
- 34:39Speaker 8: We've had a few texts come through from farmers that
- 34:41Speaker 8: aren't happy, and for some reason they seem to mostly
- 34:44Speaker 8: be in your direction.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Why would it be in my direction?
- 34:47Speaker 5: Well, I don't know.
- 34:48Speaker 8: I guess you're the one that's, I haven't noticed, but
- 34:49Speaker 8: you're obviously going quite hard on the farmers there. And
- 34:52Speaker 8: to be honest, there are so many of them.
- 34:54Speaker 5: You've referred to farmers off-air, Jase, as being your nemesis.
- 34:59Speaker 5: Did you?
- 35:01Speaker 3: I don't recall doing that, but I probably did, yeah.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Look at this text here. You're effing taking the piss
- 35:06Speaker 5: out of farmers now. Get effed, Hoyt.
- 35:09Speaker 7: Oh, that's pretty specific, isn't it?
- 35:12Speaker 3: Very specific.
- 35:14Speaker 8: So clearly, Mogi and I are trying to build a bridge,
- 35:16Speaker 8: and you are over there just lighting that bridge on fire.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Well, look, I've got to be honest with you. I
- 35:20Speaker 3: love a farmer.
- 35:21Speaker 7: I think the farmers, as we've said, are the backbone
- 35:24Speaker 7: of this country, and I love it when they pack
- 35:27Speaker 7: their stuff up and come to the big smoke.
- 35:29Speaker 3: I do. I do.
- 35:31Speaker 5: This is a good text.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Scrogging and.
- 35:33Speaker 5: What, a farmer?
- 35:35Speaker 7: You know, and they bring their big things of milk
- 35:37Speaker 7: there on the back of the truck so they don't have.
- 35:38Speaker 3: To buy any at the dairy.
- 35:40Speaker 5: This is a text from a farmer point of view,
- 35:42Speaker 5: all right? My dad's a farmer.
- 35:43Speaker 8: He hates Aucklanders with your knitted cardis and your swish hairdos.
- 35:47Speaker 8: He likes visiting the city of Auckland, but he hates
- 35:49Speaker 8: the people who live there with your no socks and
- 35:51Speaker 8: your boat shoes and your fancy lattes.
- 35:53Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Well, you see, now he's going pugs there, and I
- 35:58Speaker 3: won't stand for that.
- 35:59Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right.
- 36:00Speaker 9: It's like Pugs is just standing there and he's just
- 36:03Speaker 9: describing it.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Totally.
- 36:04Speaker 3: That's very personal. That's not cool, man.
- 36:06Speaker 5: What do you think a farmer would think of Pugs
- 36:08Speaker 5: in a beret?
- 36:10Speaker 3: I was actually thinking of Pugs in his shorts.
- 36:13Speaker 8: In his shorts from the other day with a beret
- 36:14Speaker 8: on and his tassel-y loafers. But to be honest, fellas,
- 36:16Speaker 8: the thing I like most about farmers, they have an
- 36:19Speaker 8: excellent sense of humour.
- 36:22Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 36:26Speaker 12: One simple question. One weekend of a lifetime.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Would you rather?
- 36:32Speaker 7: Yes indeed, Waz or Kaz. Last few days to get
- 36:36Speaker 7: in the draw. Two amazing prizes. And you choose which
- 36:40Speaker 7: one you want to do should you be so lucky
- 36:42Speaker 7: as to win.
- 36:43Speaker 5: Yeah, plenty of chances to get yourself in the draw.
- 36:44Speaker 5: And actually, we're doing a bit of a blitz over
- 36:46Speaker 5: the weekend as well, fellas.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 36:47Speaker 5: Just heard word.
- 36:48Speaker 8: So listening to Hodaki just right the way through, that's
- 36:51Speaker 8: your best bet. We'll be announcing the winner on Monday
- 36:53Speaker 8: morning's breakfast show. Of course, you're choosing between a weekend
- 36:56Speaker 8: of your life at the NRL Grand Final with the
- 36:58Speaker 8: races on Saturday and a pre-match cruise to the game
- 37:01Speaker 8: on Sunday or three nights in Cindy.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Cindy. Three nights in Cindy. Oh, dear. That sounds like
- 37:09Speaker 5: one of those shows that you watch shows.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Oh, come on, man.
- 37:13Speaker 8: That's the second package we've got available. The third package
- 37:15Speaker 8: is three nights in Sydney with shuttles to and from
- 37:19Speaker 8: Bathurst both Saturday and Sunday, fellas.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Jeez, Louise.
- 37:24Speaker 5: Yeah, let's quickly to the phone.
- 37:27Speaker 3: G'day, Jimmy, you mad bastard. How's life? Pretty good, man.
- 37:31Speaker 9: I was just thinking you'll probably trigger a few farmers
- 37:33Speaker 9: with that Cindy talk as well.
- 37:34Speaker 5: Careful, Keezy. That's true.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Tell me, Jimmy, what do you do for a crust?
- 37:41Speaker 5: I've done a civil contract thing. Oh, yeah.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Backbone.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Backbone, man.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Tell me, Jimmy, if you were to win, who would
- 37:49Speaker 3: you take with you?
- 37:51Speaker 5: If I picked the best, I'd take Ryan the Sparky
- 37:55Speaker 5: from Invercargill, I reckon.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Oh, yeah?
- 37:57Speaker 5: Yeah, nice. Right, okay. And is that what you're leaning towards?
- 38:01Speaker 3: I just have to choose, so, yep, I'll go with that.
- 38:04Speaker 5: Good on you, mate. Yeah, good on you, you massive backbone, Jimmy.
- 38:06Speaker 5: It's a tough one.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Good on you, mate. You're in the draw. Stay on
- 38:09Speaker 3: the line. Pugs will look after you.
- 38:11Speaker 4: Cheers.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Thanks, mate. G'day, Rach. How's life?
- 38:14Speaker 2: Are you talking to me?
- 38:15Speaker 3: Yes, I am. I think so.
- 38:17Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 38:18Speaker 3: I'm in the draw.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Well, I could be.
- 38:20Speaker 10: I could be going to see the Waz.
- 38:23Speaker 5: The Waz. Okay, I like it. Have you ever had
- 38:25Speaker 5: a conversation with someone before, Rach?
- 38:30Speaker 7: I have been told this before.
- 38:31Speaker 9: I get excited.
- 38:32Speaker 7: That's okay. Nothing wrong with being excited. What do you
- 38:35Speaker 7: do for a crust, Rach?
- 38:37Speaker 2: Oh, I'd do a bit of admin, a bit of reception,
- 38:40Speaker 2: a bit of admin, a bit of whatever.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you're a bad boy.
- 38:44Speaker 7: And who would you take with you to the NRL there, Rach?
- 38:49Speaker 2: I would take Emily, and she's my buddy.
- 38:51Speaker 5: Oh, yes. Rach and Emily in the grand final, man.
- 38:54Speaker 5: How good.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it'd be real cool.
- 38:56Speaker 5: Off their heads.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Now, I've been back in the Wasps.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Have you?
- 39:00Speaker 2: Since 95. Wow. This is the year.
- 39:04Speaker 6: This is the year.
- 39:05Speaker 3: How do you feel like they're going to go this
- 39:07Speaker 3: weekend against the Knights?
- 39:09Speaker 2: I feel there's going to be redemption.
- 39:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I like that. Yeah, I like that. Redemption. All right, Rach.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Good stuff, mate. You're in the draw, right? You hold
- 39:16Speaker 5: the line.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 39:17Speaker 6: Thank you so much.
- 39:18Speaker 5: No worries, mate. No worries, mate. How good.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:21Speaker 5: She's a bit of a mad bastard. I love that, though.
- 39:23Speaker 5: She loves it, man. Super passionate about the wars. That's
- 39:25Speaker 5: who you want to win it. Nothing wrong with that.
- 39:27Speaker 5: Of course, big shout out to boystrip.co.nzsports. Travel Made Easy.
- 39:30Speaker 5: Their NRL packages are all sold out. However, there are
- 39:33Speaker 5: still some Bathurst picages, fellas.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff. Hey, you guys like Lenny Kravitz?
- 39:40Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 39:43Speaker 12: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Yeah, welcome back, you massive backbones.
- 39:49Speaker 7: You're listening to The Big Show Breakfast, if you're just
- 39:51Speaker 7: joining us. And it's brought to you by Bunnings Trade.
- 39:56Speaker 8: Build big rewards with new PowerPass Pro Rewards by Bunnings.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Tell you what. Spring coming up, fellas.
- 40:07Speaker 9: Summer.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Well, it's already here, Jase.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Well, it's here.
- 40:10Speaker 5: It's sprung.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Yeah, forget it.
- 40:12Speaker 7: You know, you've got all those little jobs outside there.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Fix up the fence.
- 40:18Speaker 10: What are you?
- 40:18Speaker 3: Do a bit of work on the deck.
- 40:21Speaker 9: You've got all those sort of junkies that hang outside
- 40:24Speaker 9: your place, Jase. Of course, you live in the CBD
- 40:26Speaker 9: in an apartment building high above the peasants.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 40:30Speaker 5: So what do you do?
- 40:32Speaker 9: You must have a few odd jobs, sort of throw
- 40:34Speaker 9: things out the window, slingshots, et cetera, et cetera.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Oh, a bit of fun.
- 40:39Speaker 5: Do you slingshot people out your window?
- 40:42Speaker 3: Maybe, Keezy, maybe. But the point I was trying to make.
- 40:45Speaker 5: You get arrested for that.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Is that, you know... If you've got all those jobs
- 40:50Speaker 3: around the place, why don't you pop into Old Bunnings?
- 40:56Speaker 5: That's good stuff. They'll be stoked with that. They've got
- 40:59Speaker 5: everything you need. All right?
- 41:02Speaker 8: Coming up this hour, fellas, chatting to a couple of
- 41:05Speaker 8: Auckland FC players. Because breakfast gets all the guests.
- 41:08Speaker 5: They do. They really do, don't they? Who have we
- 41:10Speaker 5: had recently?
- 41:11Speaker 3: No.
- 41:11Speaker 5: Oh, well, that's not. We had Joel Little yesterday.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yeah, he was pretty cool. He was pretty rock and roll.
- 41:17Speaker 5: We had Jackie Van Beek and Joey Brough the other day. Yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 5: it was a good day. Sometimes pugs will come in.
- 41:22Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 3: That's when we've run out of content.
- 41:25Speaker 5: That's when we've risked. Really desperate. But hey, coming up next,
- 41:28Speaker 5: we need to chat. Come dine with me.
- 41:30Speaker 8: Big show doing that oh yeah i'm hosting this weekend
- 41:32Speaker 8: fellas and uh well i'm not freaking out but just
- 41:35Speaker 8: a few things i'm worried about no i'm not here's muse.
- 41:39Speaker 12: The horaki big show weekdays from four on radio horaki is.
- 41:43Speaker 7: Indeed muse there on the big show breakfast this uh
- 41:47Speaker 7: thursday morning the time is nearly 10 past eight o'clock
- 41:51Speaker 7: and uh We've been running a bit of a competition
- 41:54Speaker 7: at the moment called Come Dine with the Fellas, where
- 41:56Speaker 7: each of us has a turn hosting all the other
- 41:59Speaker 7: team and their partners at their place. They're in charge
- 42:02Speaker 7: of dinner, and then we score it afterwards.
- 42:06Speaker 5: That's right. Come Dine with the Fellas. So Mogi went first.
- 42:15Speaker 5: He did Hot Pot Mogi. Yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 8: Which is where we all went around to your place
- 42:18Speaker 8: and you had a couple of big pots of hot,
- 42:21Speaker 8: spicy broth, a whole lot of ingredients, and we all
- 42:24Speaker 8: sat around the table and dipped it in there, cooked
- 42:26Speaker 8: it in there.
- 42:26Speaker 5: You had dumplings for your entree. I did. For dessert,
- 42:29Speaker 5: it was like a mango number. It was a mango number.
- 42:33Speaker 5: Mango something. Mango something. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 9: That's about all I could tell you about it. I
- 42:36Speaker 9: don't know what the name was, but you're absolutely right.
- 42:38Speaker 9: It had mango in it.
- 42:39Speaker 5: That's right. And it was delicious.
- 42:40Speaker 3: It was very nice.
- 42:41Speaker 5: It was absolutely delicious.
- 42:43Speaker 8: For the entertainment, because there's four categories, entree, main, dessert, entertainment,
- 42:47Speaker 8: you took us for a walk around the block and
- 42:49Speaker 8: you took us for a tour of Mogi's Stinkhole, which
- 42:51Speaker 8: is a sinkhole.
- 42:52Speaker 5: That's right, which is still there now.
- 42:53Speaker 9: Not only is the road blocked for that sinkhole that's
- 42:56Speaker 9: just around the corner that's been there for 10 years. Um,
- 42:59Speaker 9: they've now blocked off the footpath.
- 43:00Speaker 5: Oh, good.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:01Speaker 5: So it's really good. That's starting to get bigger by
- 43:03Speaker 5: the sounds of it. Um, Jase, you were next, man.
- 43:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 5: So a few weeks ago you did, uh, late winter Christmas.
- 43:09Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 43:10Speaker 5: So entree was, what was it again? A pull apart
- 43:12Speaker 5: Christmas tree thing.
- 43:13Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:14Speaker 3: And, uh, crackers, some, uh, Savory cheesecakes.
- 43:18Speaker 8: Little savoury cheesecakes and a pull-apart garlic twist kind of
- 43:23Speaker 8: Christmas tree.
- 43:24Speaker 5: Yes. And for main, it was your standard. Wow, you're not.
- 43:27Speaker 5: The run of the mill, I guess. Right, your bog standard.
- 43:29Speaker 5: Bog standard.
- 43:30Speaker 10: Ham.
- 43:30Speaker 5: So, hams and potatoes. Ham and taties.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Pretty much.
- 43:33Speaker 5: A Christmas lunch.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Very, very, very Christmas lunchy. And then for dessert, you
- 43:38Speaker 5: had the.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Pav and meringues.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Pav and meringues and a trough of scorched almonds.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:45Speaker 5: For entertainment, Secret Santa. Very, very entertaining. It's my turn
- 43:49Speaker 5: this weekend, fellas. I will be announcing the menu tomorrow.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:53Speaker 5: I'm going to be honest. I've already been pretty hard
- 43:56Speaker 5: at work on this thing. It's a big thing. I
- 43:58Speaker 5: have to do all the cooking.
- 43:59Speaker 8: My wife's sort of supervising, kind of, because she's a
- 44:02Speaker 8: really good cook and I'm not.
- 44:03Speaker 5: Right. Why have you chosen to go that way?
- 44:05Speaker 9: Because I did the same thing, Keezy, because I thought
- 44:07Speaker 9: it was important to stay true to sort of the
- 44:09Speaker 9: vibe of the competition. Jase's wife did most of the
- 44:12Speaker 9: cooking for him.
- 44:12Speaker 3: That's bullshit.
- 44:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:16Speaker 5: Is that true?
- 44:18Speaker 3: No, that's not true.
- 44:19Speaker 5: Right, okay. Just did the potatoes and wandered around.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Hey, and the salad.
- 44:26Speaker 5: Right, okay.
- 44:27Speaker 8: Because if your wife did help you, that's fine, but
- 44:30Speaker 8: I'll just get mine to help me more is all.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Look, whatever you want to do, Keezy.
- 44:35Speaker 7: The only thing I want to say before you announce
- 44:37Speaker 7: your menu, because I don't know if you've done this.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Yet, dietary requirements.
- 44:42Speaker 10: Yeah, well, yeah.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Because you want to know what people do and don't eat.
- 44:46Speaker 8: Well, I assume it's the same requirements as when Mogi
- 44:49Speaker 8: did it and when you did it.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Because it's the same people.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Well, my wife, she can't eat anything with flour or cheese.
- 44:59Speaker 5: But she made a garlic pull-apart, and I saw her
- 45:01Speaker 5: hoeing into it.
- 45:02Speaker 3: She didn't eat any of it. She was hoeing into it. Cheese, basil,
- 45:07Speaker 3: and tomato. So just letting you know that.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Cool.
- 45:11Speaker 8: So my theme is Italy. and approximately 99% of their
- 45:16Speaker 8: dishes are made with those three ingredients.
- 45:17Speaker 5: You're in a world of trouble, Keezy. Oh, dear. I
- 45:19Speaker 5: worry for your scores. Very good scores for your evening, Jason, myself.
- 45:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 45:25Speaker 9: The thing is, and this came from me being a
- 45:27Speaker 9: huge fan of Come Dine With Me, originally, and talking
- 45:30Speaker 9: about it on the show. There's always, at some point
- 45:33Speaker 9: during the week, somebody bombs.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:36Speaker 5: Somebody has an absolute shocker. And just the vibe I'm getting,
- 45:41Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 45:42Speaker 3: Can I just say.
- 45:43Speaker 5: Thanks, fellas.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Can I just say that.
- 45:46Speaker 7: My wife said to me when it was our turn, Mokey,
- 45:49Speaker 7: it might be quite good if we just fall apart
- 45:52Speaker 7: completely and take the pressure off Keezy.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 45:56Speaker 5: Okay, you guys had that convo. Yeah. And it was
- 45:58Speaker 5: her idea. It was her idea, yeah. Okay, cool. The
- 46:00Speaker 5: one that doesn't eat flour or cheese or basil or tomatoes. Yes, yeah.
- 46:04Speaker 8: Well, look, to be honest, fellas, if you've got any tips...
- 46:07Speaker 8: Not now, but up shortly. You guys have done it now,
- 46:10Speaker 8: so some tips will probably go down well.
- 46:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I can certainly help you out.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll give you a few tips, Keezy.
- 46:16Speaker 5: No, you're all good, James.
- 46:17Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 46:20Speaker 12: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Yes, time for your latest sport headlines. Thanks to Export Ultra,
- 46:35Speaker 4: the beer for here. Warriors boss Cameron George has been
- 46:38Speaker 4: impressed by the move to Eden Park for Sunday's NRL
- 46:41Speaker 4: knockout match against the Knights. The club's long-term home, Mount Smart,
- 46:45Speaker 4: where the Warriors wanted to play, was overlooked by competition
- 46:48Speaker 4: bosses opting for the bigger ground. Meanwhile, Warriors second row
- 46:53Speaker 4: Kurt Capewell is promising to calm the farm during Sunday's
- 46:57Speaker 4: must-win playoff after being sin-binned for pushing and shoving in
- 47:00Speaker 4: the loss to the Dolphins.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Good stuff.
- 47:04Speaker 4: And Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will stage the first two
- 47:07Speaker 4: Grand Prix for the Formula One season next year. Australia
- 47:10Speaker 4: shuffles to third on the calendar grid across the first
- 47:13Speaker 4: weekend of April.
- 47:15Speaker 3: Hmm. Bryn. There's something that we've noticed, eh, fellas?
- 47:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:24Speaker 3: There's a little thing that you do in the news.
- 47:27Speaker 5: Yes, I do.
- 47:27Speaker 3: That we wanted to address with you.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Please do, by all means.
- 47:30Speaker 5: You just heard it, it's this.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 47:33Speaker 5: Just for you.
- 47:34Speaker 3: What is that?
- 47:34Speaker 4: Well, that there is paid for by the lovely team
- 47:37Speaker 4: at McDonald's.
- 47:38Speaker 5: Right, and then you have to say mmm at the
- 47:40Speaker 5: end of it.
- 47:40Speaker 4: That's right, yeah.
- 47:42Speaker 5: But we've noticed you do it after you talk about
- 47:44Speaker 5: Tiger Woods. It could be anybody. You're saying it's people
- 47:46Speaker 5: in the office?
- 47:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:48Speaker 7: Mmm. But one of the issues that I have with it, actually,
- 47:52Speaker 7: is I don't feel that you've actually committed to it.
- 47:55Speaker 4: Oh, you want me to go fully in?
- 47:58Speaker 5: You've got to draw a line underneath it, really stress it.
- 48:02Speaker 4: How would you do it, Jase?
- 48:09Speaker 5: See, that's good stuff.
- 48:11Speaker 4: It's a bit long, though, isn't it?
- 48:12Speaker 5: Nah, it needs to be longer, Brent.
- 48:14Speaker 2: Oh.
- 48:14Speaker 5: So when you do it at the top of nine there,
- 48:16Speaker 5: do you reckon you could, or whenever you're next doing it,
- 48:17Speaker 5: do you reckon you could really put some mustard on.
- 48:19Speaker 1: It for us?
- 48:20Speaker 3: Just sauce it up a bit.
- 48:21Speaker 4: Sauce it up, okay.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Give it a bit of vim and vigour.
- 48:24Speaker 5: Yeah, that's really good feedback. Make the people from McDonald's,
- 48:26Speaker 5: when they listen back to it, go, who the hell
- 48:29Speaker 5: is that? Yeah, that's what you want. Okay. Trust me,
- 48:32Speaker 5: that's what they want as well.
- 48:36Speaker 6: Mmm.
- 48:38Speaker 3: Yeah, now you're talking.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Everclear?
- 48:40Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 48:42Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 48:46Speaker 5: Yes, indeed.
- 48:47Speaker 7: Everclear there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show. This Thursday morning,
- 48:51Speaker 7: the time is 20 minutes to 9 o'clock.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Hey, fellas, did.
- 48:55Speaker 7: You know that Auckland FC are the current reigning champions
- 48:59Speaker 7: of the A-League?
- 49:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:01Speaker 7: Well, we thought to celebrate that with the season about
- 49:04Speaker 7: to kick off again, that we'd get one of the
- 49:06Speaker 7: fellas from the team in.
- 49:07Speaker 3: How do you feel about that? Sure, man.
- 49:08Speaker 5: I mean, it kicks off in a month, but I'm keen.
- 49:10Speaker 3: Yeah, well, you know, you can't be too early for
- 49:12Speaker 3: these things, Keezy. When are you thinking?
- 49:14Speaker 5: Should we get someone in next week?
- 49:15Speaker 3: Well, no, I'm thinking right now.
- 49:17Speaker 5: Oh, righto.
- 49:18Speaker 3: With that in mind, we've got a locking. Brook in
- 49:20Speaker 3: the show with us. G'day, Lockie. How's life, you mad bastard?
- 49:23Speaker 11: Yeah, no, good, mate.
- 49:24Speaker 3: Good.
- 49:24Speaker 5: Thanks for having me on.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Yeah, absolute pleasure.
- 49:27Speaker 7: So how's you guys all getting together now, getting prepared
- 49:30Speaker 7: for the next season?
- 49:31Speaker 3: How's the mood in the camp?
- 49:33Speaker 5: Nice.
- 49:34Speaker 3: Thanks, mate.
- 49:34Speaker 10: Good.
- 49:34Speaker 5: Yeah, no, it's been good.
- 49:35Speaker 11: We've obviously been back now for a couple months, quite
- 49:38Speaker 11: a long pre-season over in Aus and New Zealand for
- 49:41Speaker 11: our league.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:43Speaker 5: But yeah, no, it's been good. Obviously a few changes, a.
- 49:45Speaker 11: Lot of players left and obviously coaching staff leaving as well.
- 49:49Speaker 9: What's the story with that, man? You win a title
- 49:52Speaker 9: and then people just bail on you. Does that hurt, man?
- 49:54Speaker 11: Ah, look, it's the world that we live in. I'm
- 49:57Speaker 11: pretty used to it now, pretty numb to it all. Obviously, yeah,
- 50:00Speaker 11: it's quite sad. You know, you make friends and And
- 50:02Speaker 11: obviously build relationships. But at the end of the day,
- 50:05Speaker 11: they've all moved on to things that are positive for them,
- 50:07Speaker 11: better moves.
- 50:08Speaker 9: We actually have that here on the radio show because
- 50:10Speaker 9: we have people that come and go in terms of
- 50:11Speaker 9: the hosting and all that sort of thing. And then
- 50:13Speaker 9: the toughest thing is when they're not up to scratch
- 50:15Speaker 9: and we have to give them the ass.
- 50:16Speaker 5: Yeah, we have to, you know. The tough part is
- 50:18Speaker 5: dropping them out of the WhatsApp group. You know, they're
- 50:20Speaker 5: not in it anymore. You just see them leaving and
- 50:23Speaker 5: dropping out. It is sad. Is that why I'm not
- 50:25Speaker 5: in it?
- 50:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why you're gone. Yeah, there's something we need
- 50:27Speaker 3: to tell you, Keezy.
- 50:28Speaker 11: No, it's quite the same for us. We've obviously got
- 50:31Speaker 11: WhatsApp groups and all the rest of it. You know,
- 50:33Speaker 11: banter within the boys. But yeah, as soon as... as
- 50:36Speaker 11: soon as one of them leaves, we just say, yeah,
- 50:38Speaker 11: thanks for everything.
- 50:39Speaker 3: You're on your way, mate.
- 50:40Speaker 7: Lockie, I've got to say, man, uh, Auckland FC, uh,
- 50:43Speaker 7: since their, um, introduction to the league have been phenomenal. Um,
- 50:48Speaker 7: you know, it's a tough thing to back up being
- 50:50Speaker 7: the champions, isn't it?
- 50:52Speaker 5: Oh, it's very tough.
- 50:52Speaker 11: Um, hard enough winning it, let alone in the first
- 50:55Speaker 11: two seasons doing it. So, um, yeah, the, the, the
- 50:58Speaker 11: whole run in from the club's been, been great. And, um, yeah,
- 51:01Speaker 11: I think that it's, it's shown within the city, you know,
- 51:03Speaker 11: we've got a lot of good support. Um, And, yeah,
- 51:06Speaker 11: now for us again, third season, it's all about backing
- 51:09Speaker 11: it up again. Obviously, like I said, a lot of changes,
- 51:11Speaker 11: but hopefully can expect much of the same.
- 51:13Speaker 8: We're chatting to Auckland FC's Lockie Brooke at the moment. Lockie,
- 51:17Speaker 8: Mike and I, not Jase, are massive NRL fans, right?
- 51:20Speaker 8: We love our rugby league. And last season, the Broncos
- 51:23Speaker 8: won it. Amazing finish. A lot of excitement. This season,
- 51:27Speaker 8: there's nothing there, though.
- 51:28Speaker 5: Shithouse. You know what I mean?
- 51:30Speaker 8: It's like almost a hangover from such an amazing, especially
- 51:33Speaker 8: after two seasons like you guys. You know, how do
- 51:36Speaker 8: the guys that are sticking around, how do they fire
- 51:39Speaker 8: themselves back up again after just reaching the top of
- 51:41Speaker 8: the mountain?
- 51:43Speaker 11: I think for us it's, you know, the last two
- 51:44Speaker 11: seasons we've had a taste for it. And, you know,
- 51:47Speaker 11: it's such a good thing, such a good feeling. So
- 51:49Speaker 11: I think that's our main sort of goal. Yeah, obviously
- 51:53Speaker 11: a new coach now, a few new players, and obviously
- 51:55Speaker 11: the boys that have left. But I think the core
- 51:58Speaker 11: of the squad is still there. And, yeah, for us
- 52:01Speaker 11: nothing's really changed in terms of that mentality to go
- 52:04Speaker 11: out and win it again.
- 52:05Speaker 9: A massive motivator for you has got to be, you know,
- 52:08Speaker 9: you don't want to do a Phoenix, do you? You
- 52:10Speaker 9: don't want to be a Wellington Phoenix. You know, you'll
- 52:13Speaker 9: have a couple more games against them this year. You've
- 52:16Speaker 9: been pounding them time and time and time again. I
- 52:19Speaker 9: grew up in Wellington. I supported the Phoenix and I
- 52:22Speaker 9: had to drop them because I also supported New Zealand cricket.
- 52:26Speaker 9: I supported the Warriors who were garbage for years and
- 52:28Speaker 9: that was enough teams that were average for me. Um,
- 52:31Speaker 9: so then I had the Phoenix as well, and I
- 52:33Speaker 9: don't think I ever saw them win. I'd go to
- 52:34Speaker 9: every single game. So that's got to be a huge
- 52:36Speaker 9: motivator for you as well. So those local derbies, you
- 52:39Speaker 9: want to remain on top of, of the Phoenix.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:41Speaker 11: I mean, we're, we're already two ahead of them. So, um, Yeah,
- 52:44Speaker 11: we're not too stressed about that. But obviously, yeah, for
- 52:47Speaker 11: us as a club, we've never lost to them. So
- 52:50Speaker 11: that's always still the remaining goal, just to keep undefeated
- 52:54Speaker 11: against them.
- 52:55Speaker 7: Lachie, you talked about your supporters. Have you been surprised
- 53:00Speaker 7: at the level of support? Because it goes off, mate.
- 53:03Speaker 7: They're passionate, your soccer fans.
- 53:06Speaker 11: Yeah, before I'd signed, obviously this is my second season now,
- 53:09Speaker 11: I'd obviously seen you know, the, the turnouts and whenever
- 53:12Speaker 11: I was, you know, flicking the A-League on, um, he
- 53:15Speaker 11: obviously saw that and was aware of it. Um, but
- 53:17Speaker 11: until I got here, I didn't really realize how, how
- 53:19Speaker 11: big it is, even just walking around the street and stuff.
- 53:22Speaker 11: Usually day doesn't really go by where someone doesn't say something.
- 53:25Speaker 11: So it's, you know, as a, as a footballer, you know,
- 53:27Speaker 11: that's the sort of thing that is, is great. Um,
- 53:31Speaker 11: knowing that you've got people behind you and, there's nothing
- 53:33Speaker 11: better than walking out to a stadium filled with fans,
- 53:35Speaker 11: you know, cheering your name.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 53:37Speaker 8: That's a huge thing for New Zealand, right? Because for
- 53:40Speaker 8: years it was, you know, your netball, your rugby union,
- 53:42Speaker 8: your cricket. But for football athletes to be walking around
- 53:47Speaker 8: and getting noticed, especially in Auckland where no one gives
- 53:49Speaker 8: a shit what you've done, they mostly ignore you, you know.
- 53:52Speaker 8: So that's a really good sign that the game's growing
- 53:53Speaker 8: in New Zealand.
- 53:54Speaker 11: Yeah, and I think obviously, you know, the fact that,
- 53:58Speaker 11: you know, in the first two years they have won something. Yeah.
- 54:01Speaker 5: You know, that obviously helps. Yes.
- 54:03Speaker 11: I mean, the story might have been different if we
- 54:04Speaker 11: were absolute flops for the first two years, probably not
- 54:06Speaker 11: get noticed or maybe cop a little bit of a spray. But, yeah,
- 54:11Speaker 11: it's on a great trajectory at the moment and obviously
- 54:13Speaker 11: everything else that's going around with New Zealand football, yeah,
- 54:17Speaker 11: it's real positive.
- 54:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 54:18Speaker 8: There's a new Sky documentary coming out about you guys
- 54:21Speaker 8: as well. So I'm just reading here. It's out September 23rd,
- 54:24Speaker 8: which is in just under a week's time. It says
- 54:27Speaker 8: you feature heavily in this documentary.
- 54:29Speaker 11: Apparently so i haven't seen it myself but oh really
- 54:32Speaker 11: quite keen to see if they've um they've put some
- 54:34Speaker 11: good bits of me in uh hopefully yeah do.
- 54:36Speaker 5: You remember getting interviewed for it or anything.
- 54:38Speaker 11: Like that yeah yeah i definitely remember a lot of
- 54:41Speaker 11: the bits um but i mean it's this you know
- 54:43Speaker 11: you do maybe two or three one hour interviews but.
- 54:46Speaker 5: Yeah so a little bit of you smashing up the
- 54:48Speaker 5: changing rooms fuming.
- 54:50Speaker 11: Oh there might be a little bit of that there
- 54:52Speaker 11: might be a few yeah a few little head loss
- 54:54Speaker 11: moments but um Well, what.
- 54:56Speaker 8: About when it comes to like, you know, celebrating after
- 54:59Speaker 8: the championship, right? And then there's a documentary crew following
- 55:02Speaker 8: you around and you're, you know, you've just, you've finished
- 55:04Speaker 8: a long season, you've won the damn thing because you
- 55:06Speaker 8: wake up sometimes with anxiety.
- 55:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:08Speaker 5: Let alone when there's a documentary crew there.
- 55:10Speaker 11: I think the cameras went down after the game, I think.
- 55:12Speaker 5: I think. Yeah. Shut up. Shut us down.
- 55:15Speaker 11: I don't know if there was a few GoPros in
- 55:17Speaker 11: the corner or not, but I bloody hope not because
- 55:18Speaker 11: that wouldn't be ideal.
- 55:21Speaker 7: Hey, Lockie Brook, thanks so much for coming in, mate.
- 55:23Speaker 7: All the best for the new season. Come and have
- 55:26Speaker 7: another chat when the season's started, maybe.
- 55:29Speaker 11: Yeah, sounds good.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Good on you, mate.
- 55:31Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 55:31Speaker 9: Thanks, fellas.
- 55:35Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 55:38Speaker 12: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 55:41Speaker 7: The exponents there on The Big Show breakfast this Thursday morning.
- 55:44Speaker 7: The time is nearly five minutes to nine o'clock. And, fellas,
- 55:49Speaker 7: I don't know about you. I don't mind doing a
- 55:50Speaker 7: bit of breakfast radio. In fact, I quite enjoy it.
- 55:54Speaker 7: But I have concerns. As you know, I live in
- 55:57Speaker 7: the CBD now. In the big city. In the big city, yeah.
- 56:06Speaker 7: And the city at 5 o'clock in the morning is
- 56:08Speaker 7: a very, very different place. It's got some very sinister,
- 56:14Speaker 7: full-on vibes. There's some, can I put it this way,
- 56:18Speaker 7: unsavoury characters wandering about the place, eyeing up Hoity J.
- 56:24Speaker 3: Eyeing down.
- 56:27Speaker 7: I've got real concerns at times for my safety.
- 56:31Speaker 5: You're a tough little bastard.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Oh, look, don't get me wrong. If push comes to shove,
- 56:36Speaker 3: I can handle myself.
- 56:38Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 56:39Speaker 3: Don't you bloody worry about that, Mogi.
- 56:41Speaker 5: You can fall over with the best of them.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I can curl up.
- 56:44Speaker 7: Into the fetal position like nobody's business. And especially now,
- 56:49Speaker 7: because I've been a little bit shaken from our show today,
- 56:53Speaker 7: there seems to have been a feud that's erupted with
- 56:55Speaker 7: the farmers of this country.
- 56:57Speaker 5: Yeah, true.
- 56:58Speaker 3: And a lot of them have specifically targeted me.
- 57:01Speaker 5: I don't know why. No, it's because you're horrible to farmers.
- 57:03Speaker 3: I don't know why that is.
- 57:05Speaker 7: And now I have real concerns about my safety from
- 57:09Speaker 7: my apartment to work. So do you think it's... over
- 57:14Speaker 7: the top for me to go to management and ask
- 57:16Speaker 7: for some sort of security contingent to accompany me from
- 57:22Speaker 7: my door of my apartment to work just so that
- 57:24Speaker 7: Hoity J can, you know, make sure that he gets
- 57:27Speaker 7: to work okay.
- 57:29Speaker 5: How far is the walk?
- 57:30Speaker 3: How long? It's about a 10, 15-minute walk.
- 57:32Speaker 5: 15-minute walk.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:34Speaker 5: What about pugs? I mean, because Pugs worked security. He
- 57:37Speaker 5: did the security training course.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Oh, that's right.
- 57:39Speaker 3: He did too.
- 57:40Speaker 5: When he was a younger fellow. I mean, he got fired,
- 57:42Speaker 5: didn't he?
- 57:42Speaker 8: No, he did one shift and then decided he hated it.
- 57:44Speaker 8: But he's got the training. He's got the training, yeah.
- 57:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:47Speaker 9: He doesn't have the on-job experience, but this is an
- 57:50Speaker 9: opportunity for him to probably see through his apprenticeship.
- 57:52Speaker 6: 100%.
- 57:52Speaker 5: He needs to diversify and just look at other areas too.
- 57:56Speaker 5: A bodyguard.
- 57:57Speaker 3: I was thinking slightly bigger than that, but actually.
- 57:59Speaker 5: Bigger than Pugs?
- 58:00Speaker 7: Well, no.
- 58:00Speaker 3: I mean, in terms of the amount of people. I
- 58:03Speaker 3: was thinking like four or five just surrounding me. But
- 58:08Speaker 3: I'm not opposed to that idea.
- 58:09Speaker 7: What about? So an unsavoury character walks towards Hoity J.
- 58:14Speaker 3: I push pugs in front of him and then sprint off.
- 58:16Speaker 5: Well, what about, so we get pugs to do it, right?
- 58:19Speaker 5: Because he's producer and it can come under his sort
- 58:22Speaker 5: of umbrella. Yeah, it's his umbrella. Social media clips, recordings,
- 58:26Speaker 5: you know, bodyguards.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Security.
- 58:27Speaker 5: Bodyguards. So he'll arrive at your house 4.30 a.m. and
- 58:31Speaker 5: just sort of patrol outside.
- 58:33Speaker 3: Yes, just make sure the streets are safe.
- 58:36Speaker 5: That's right. And then you come out from the apartment,
- 58:38Speaker 5: maybe get a little walkie-talkie. He's like, yeah, all clear.
- 58:40Speaker 4: Yes.
- 58:40Speaker 5: You come out. Then he's got a little front pack
- 58:42Speaker 5: and he pops you in that.
- 58:43Speaker 1: Yep.
- 58:44Speaker 5: And then he runs to the studio as fast as
- 58:47Speaker 5: he can.
- 58:47Speaker 3: Like a little koala.
- 58:48Speaker 5: I'd be concerned. I think you need to be on
- 58:50Speaker 5: a backpack. I think you need to be on the back.
- 58:52Speaker 3: I prefer the back. I don't know that I want
- 58:53Speaker 3: to be pressed against Pugs' boozies.
- 58:55Speaker 9: Well, I mean, there's nothing wrong with that, but you'd
- 58:57Speaker 9: sort of be in a human shield situation there.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Very good point.
- 59:02Speaker 7: So if they're going to attack, they're going to go
- 59:03Speaker 7: from the front.
- 59:04Speaker 5: That's right.
- 59:05Speaker 7: So he can take the blows. I can get out
- 59:07Speaker 7: of the backpack and sprint off.
- 59:10Speaker 5: I reckon that's the way to do it. You can scarper.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 59:13Speaker 5: Would you be happy with that? We'll try that tomorrow.
- 59:14Speaker 3: Yeah, no, we'll do that tomorrow. I'll have a little
- 59:16Speaker 3: chat to Pugs.
- 59:17Speaker 7: Get him to see if he's got a little backpack
- 59:20Speaker 7: he can use for old Hootie Joe.
- 59:22Speaker 5: Yeah, perfect.
- 59:23Speaker 8: Hey, by the way, for listeners, not for you guys,
- 59:25Speaker 8: if you are interested in winning $ 100 cash and bonus cash,
- 59:30Speaker 8: thanks to TAB, keep an ear out for the cutie call.
- 59:32Speaker 5: It's going to play shortly. Get ready to call 0800 HOTA.

- 59:42Speaker 7: The time is 6 minutes past 9 o'clock, which means
- 59:44Speaker 7: it's time for.

- 59:51Speaker 12: Call 0800 HODAKI now with your finals footy prediction.
- 59:56Speaker 5: That's right, the finals footy prediction.
- 59:58Speaker 8: It is the finals forecasters with the TAB.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Someone calls through, they instantly get $ 100 cash.
- 1:00:04Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:00:04Speaker 8: They also get $ 100 bonus cash thanks to the TAB,
- 1:00:07Speaker 8: which they'll put on some sort of prediction ahead of
- 1:00:09Speaker 8: the NRL finals, which are in full swing at the moment.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: Let's go to the lines, fellas.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: G'day, Brad.
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: How's it going?
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:00:16Speaker 10: G'day, Areolis Major.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: How you doing? Yeah, great, man. Thanks for the nickname, man.
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: I like that, Areolis Major.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: That's very creative of you, Brad.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: What's Jase's nickname, Brad? Oh, the Jizzbot. The Jizzbot, right.
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: And Mogi? Butthead. Oh, yeah, Butthead.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: I enjoyed that. Jizzbot, Butthead, and Areolis Major. We need
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: to get all our show imaging remade.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: Yeah, totally.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: To have that in the title. Hey, listen, Brad, first
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: of all, what do you do for a crust, man?
- 1:00:46Speaker 10: I'm a greenskeeper down in Christchurch.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Oh, how bloody good.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: Jeez.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Is it looking pristine at the moment, Brad, coming into spring?
- 1:00:56Speaker 10: Yeah, we had a good few days there, but she's
- 1:00:59Speaker 10: a bit wet now.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:01:00Speaker 10: So it seems heat is on in the office doing admin.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Yeah, nice.
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: Good on you, man.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: Good on you.
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: Jase loves admin.
- 1:01:07Speaker 8: Um, Hey, Brad, so what we need from you, mate,
- 1:01:10Speaker 8: is a prediction for the finals this weekend, either of
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: the games, man.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: What are you thinking?
- 1:01:15Speaker 10: I reckon the Warriors are actually going to puzzle the Knights.
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: Okay. Yeah. So would you like to go Waz 13
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: plus or just Waz? Oh, yeah, Waz 13 plus.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 1:01:29Speaker 8: Okay, so Brad, you've got $ 100 cash instantly just for calling.
- 1:01:33Speaker 8: We will now put a $ 100 bonus cash bet on,
- 1:01:37Speaker 8: on Waz13 +, and if that comes in, you get
- 1:01:39Speaker 8: the cash from that man. And you're also in the
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: draw for the ultimate grand final set-up, which is a
- 1:01:43Speaker 8: Lazy Boy, a mini fridge, and a new television as well,
- 1:01:45Speaker 8: all right?
- 1:01:47Speaker 10: Oh, that'd be so good out on the course, fellas.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: Good on you, mate.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Good on you, Brad.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: You hold the line, and Pugsan will sort you out,
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: all right?
- 1:01:54Speaker 10: Cheers, you backbones.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: Hey, don't forget, T's and C's apply. R18 bet responsibly, fellas.
- 1:02:00Speaker 7: Yeah, can I, because we haven't really touched on this,
- 1:02:02Speaker 7: and we'll probably get into it a bit more tomorrow.
- 1:02:04Speaker 7: What's your vibe, fellas, for the Waz V the Knights?
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: Ah, look, the same vibe I had last week.
- 1:02:09Speaker 7: Oh, no.
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: Was that we'd flog them.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Yeah, we'd pump them.
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: I feel like we should, yeah. If we come out
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: and play that Waz brand of footy, eh, Mogey?
- 1:02:16Speaker 9: All you have to do is, and I think we
- 1:02:17Speaker 9: said it the other day on the Drive show, that
- 1:02:19Speaker 9: you just want them to die trying. Have it on
- 1:02:22Speaker 9: its crack, play your game, and if you lose, you lose.
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: But you don't want to lose at kicking twos.
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: Totally.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: Tune, a bit of tool.
- 1:02:32Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 1:02:36Speaker 12: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 1:02:38Speaker 7: Jane's addiction there on the Hauraki breakfast this Thursday morning. Now,
- 1:02:44Speaker 7: normally in our afternoon show, The Drive Show, we have
- 1:02:47Speaker 7: a regular segment called What's on the TV with me, Mogi.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: Yeah, do you want to do that now?
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: I think so. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: Yeah. Yes.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: Fellas, last night I was watching More Alone, a survival
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: series where people are sent out into the wilderness. Currently
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: the series I'm watching is The Arctic Circle, and they
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: have to see how long they can survive without being
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: eaten by bears. It's great stuff.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: Is that the international one? It is the international. Yeah, international.
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: Yeah, very, very good. And if you want to watch that.
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: because we've got a different audience at the moment, TVNZ Plus,
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: and you guys really rate it, don't you? Absolutely love it.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Five buzzies. But I went to bed, but a mate
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: texted me.
- 1:03:33Speaker 9: I got up, and I watched the first episode of
- 1:03:35Speaker 9: the sixth season of the show Slow Horses, which is
- 1:03:38Speaker 9: on Apple TV, and stars Gary Oldman and Kristen Scott
- 1:03:43Speaker 9: Thomas in a British spy-type thriller, a bunch of spies
- 1:03:48Speaker 9: that don't fit.
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: In anywhere else.
- 1:03:50Speaker 9: Can't be trusted, but always seem to find themselves right
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: in the midst of international terrorist attacks.
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:03:57Speaker 9: Very funny, very well acted, well written, all the other things.
- 1:04:01Speaker 9: The first episode was fantastic last night. Right back where
- 1:04:04Speaker 9: you left off. Very, very funny.
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: I give it a solid four and a half buzzies
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: out of a possible five.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: Buzzies being our rating system.
- 1:04:13Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: People know that. It's the standard rating system, really.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Isn't it? You'll recall yesterday I told you about a film, Sheena. Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: 1984.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: 1984, which I saw on Samsung TV.
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: A lot of nudity. A lot of nudity.
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: And I was sitting at home there last night, eating
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: my dinner, and it came on again.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: And I was like, you know what?
- 1:04:35Speaker 7: I cannot be arsed trying to find another show. So
- 1:04:39Speaker 7: I just watched Sheena again. Four buzzies.
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: So you watched the.
- 1:04:46Speaker 8: The movie from the 80s, which had 11% out of
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: 100 from Rotten Tomatoes.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: Yes. And like a four on IMDb. You watched it again. Yeah.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: Why? Oh, it's just a really light-hearted, warm.
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: Light on clothes.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: Light on clothes kind of show.
- 1:05:02Speaker 10: Movie.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: What is the climax to that movie, by the way?
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: I'm not going to get it. I'm not going to
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: get into that, Keezy.
- 1:05:10Speaker 10: Right, okay.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: Don't want to spoil it.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: No, I don't want to put any spoilers out there.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: Yeah, true. Last night, my wife and I watched a
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: YouTube video.
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: Oh, cool.
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: How to cook Italian food with me.
- 1:05:23Speaker 8: How to make ham and pineapple pizza the way Nona
- 1:05:25Speaker 8: used to make. Ahead of Come Dine With Me this week. No,
- 1:05:28Speaker 8: we watched a few travel YouTubers that we quite like.
- 1:05:31Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: These two... Americans, they're really nice. They get dropped in
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: the middle of Mongolia and they do.
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: This thing called the monkey run on little Honda 50cc
- 1:05:40Speaker 8: little mini bikes and they get dropped in the middle
- 1:05:42Speaker 8: of the desert there and they have to get back
- 1:05:44Speaker 8: to the main city and it's like a two week
- 1:05:46Speaker 8: journey on these little bikes. However, the girl's never ridden
- 1:05:50Speaker 8: a motorbike before so instantly she keeps falling off and
- 1:05:53Speaker 8: they both have no skills around how to fix it
- 1:05:55Speaker 8: or do anything.
- 1:05:56Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: Absolute shambles. You wouldn't have liked that. I liked it
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: because I want to do it.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Your wife must have found that very stressful.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: To be honest, yeah, she said we would never, ever
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: do anything like this. It sounds like my nightmare. Whereas
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: I was like, this sounds, this looks awesome. But yeah,
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: I don't know. It's all G. Buzzies, Keezy, buzzies.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: Come on, man.
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: I'll give it three and a half buzzies out of five.
- 1:06:18Speaker 8: Just because it's a YouTuber, like it's just a person
- 1:06:21Speaker 8: who's got a laptop and a camera and just made
- 1:06:23Speaker 8: it themselves.
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: Right, yeah.
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: It's not a big budget crew, so three and a
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: half buzzies out of five, guys.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: Good stuff, man.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: Do you like ads?
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: I love them.
- 1:06:31Speaker 12: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: Well, there you go.
- 1:06:46Speaker 7: That's the Big Show Breakfast wrap for your Thursday. Hope
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: you enjoyed it, New Zealand. Now, a lot of people
- 1:06:51Speaker 7: maybe haven't heard this show before. We also do a
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: bonus podcast called The Disclaimer. which we always do before
- 1:06:58Speaker 7: we start the show.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: It's kind of a warm-up, isn't it?
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: What's the clip we've got today from the podcast there, Keezy?
- 1:07:04Speaker 8: Today's clip was, first of all, recorded before 6am this morning,
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: so we were still half asleep. But it was Jase
- 1:07:10Speaker 8: admitting that he knows he's dying.
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: Why go to the doctor so that they can tell
- 1:07:16Speaker 7: you what you already know?
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: And then you have to pay 50 bucks and I'm
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: still dying.
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: That's so f * * * ed up.
- 1:07:25Speaker 9: I have to pay $ 50.
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: Actually, I was wrong there. It's about $ 90 these days.
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: Isn't it?
- 1:07:31Speaker 7: It's way more than $ 50.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: What if I paid for it?
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: Nah.
- 1:07:37Speaker 7: You've already wasted $ 400 on the pigeon there, Keezy.
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: You're having a shocking run of investments.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you are. How's your Lego going?
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: God, that's an old reference. Yes, I bought Lego. No,
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: it wasn't. Wasn't it? I think it's a share. It's
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: definitely the share. So I bought some Lego, which I
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: think is going to go up in value in like
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: 20 years. So I'm not looking at it. It's away
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: in storage. Anyway, what are you guys up to? Any
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: other references you'd like to bring.
- 1:08:07Speaker 7: Up?
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Mogi, back to work for you?
- 1:08:10Speaker 9: Well, yeah, I mean, I've got a day job that
- 1:08:12Speaker 9: I do, but this is the first time that I've
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: done breakfast where I'm actually going to have to go
- 1:08:16Speaker 9: and have a nana nap because I'm buggered. I've had
- 1:08:19Speaker 9: a few bad sleeps, but I've got to go and
- 1:08:21Speaker 9: have a lunch with someone today and I can't be
- 1:08:23Speaker 9: on zero energy, you know?
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: Yeah, sure.
- 1:08:25Speaker 9: So I'll just go and have a little 30-minute kip
- 1:08:26Speaker 9: and then I'll be back down the gym and ripping it.
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: Yeah, good stuff. What about you, Keezy, man? What have
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: you got planned, brother?
- 1:08:31Speaker 8: I'm going to go home and just make a start
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: on one of the dishes for this weekend's Come Dine
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: With Me.
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: The dishes.
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: Hosting you guys for dinner on Saturday. And then I'm
- 1:08:40Speaker 8: actually hosting Crowd Goes Wild tonight as well.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: Yeah, boy. which I can do when we're on breakfast.
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: Can't do it when we're doing our usual show. No,
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: you can't. Yeah, not allowed.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Yeah, good stuff, mate. Busy day for O'Keefe.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: What are you doing, Jase?
- 1:08:52Speaker 7: I'm going to go from here to the supermarket, buy
- 1:08:55Speaker 7: the ingredients for my world famous hot spicy chicken soup
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: make that for the whanau maybe see if Sheena's on
- 1:09:03Speaker 7: the TV again.
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: It's a movie from the 80s that Jase is watching
- 1:09:09Speaker 8: at the moment involving a lot of nudity yeah Jase's
- 1:09:12Speaker 8: foot he's like I'm just going to crowbar as many
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: references as possible.
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: Sheena and hot pot man that's the sweet spot.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Yeah yeah totally Then what am I going to do?
