- Sean Graver: So you already know the moment is coming. Maybe it's the client who slips an extra hundred dollars into your hand for moving their order ahead of others. Or maybe it's the coworker who will ask you to say that you both were in the meeting when you weren't there at all. You don't know exactly when, but you know it's coming because it's come before. Well, hey, this is Sean. Welcome back to Prayer Before Work. You know, the problem is that most of us don't think about What we'll do until we're standing right in the middle of it, with the other person looking at us, waiting for an answer. And that's exactly the worst time to be figuring out where you stand. Because pressure has a way of making bad ideas sound reasonable in the moment. But Proverbs 22, 3 puts it pretty simply. It says, the prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on. And suffer for it. Now, the word that stands out there to me is C's. Prudence isn't about being smarter in the moment of temptation. It's about seeing the danger coming ahead of time and already knowing what you'll do about it. So the simple person isn't necessarily foolish in character. They just never stop to think it through until it was already happening to them. So here's something worth doing. before you ever get put in that spot again. Think through the situations you already know tend to trip you up at work. A client who tips too generously or or gives you gifts for favors. The coworker who wants you to bend the truth a little to cover for them. The moment we're going along with it would be so much easier than doing it right. Well decide now, on an ordinary day with no pressure on you, what you'll actually say and do when it happens. And and I'm not talking about like a vague feeling, but an actual sentence you could say out loud. Now when you wait until you're in the middle of it to decide, then you're deciding under pressure, with your judgment already compromised by wanting to keep the peace or avoid an awkward moment. So decide now while your head is clear and the moment it actually comes You're not deciding anymore. You're just following through on a choice you already made. So let's pray. Lord, we know the situations that tend to catch us off guard and and we're tired of getting caught off guard by the same ones over and over. But help us think clearly today about where we're vulnerable and and give us the honesty to s to decide right now what we'll do before we're standing in the middle of it. When the pressure comes, let it find us already decided. Instead of scrambling. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Go make today count.
