- 2:41support today. Right now, we're going to be
- 2:44talking about a little bit, is something that we have covered a
- 2:48little bit about on my YouTube channel before.
- 2:50Maybe you've seen that video, if you've already subscribe to the
- 2:54channel and follow me on that platform and that is the
- 3:00different forms. Or variations of heathen read
- 3:04that we see come across. We're talking about things like
- 3:07terms that Refer to sort of the structure of heathen re various
- 3:13Heathen groups, May adopt. We're talking about things like
- 3:16Universal Heathen re tribal Heathen.
- 3:19Refocus, Heathen re, okay, I've talked enough a bit about, or
- 3:24actually, a bit about the concept of universal,
- 3:29Universalist heathens universalism within Heathen re,
- 3:33and that's just kind of a, the way I see it.
- 3:36Anyways, as it's just kind of this You know, just let
- 3:41everybody do it any and everybody do it and you know if
- 3:47you're a good person, you want to worship the gods, you want to
- 3:51learn more about Germanic paganism, then there's no
- 3:56criteria to be met. There's no requirements.
- 4:01As far as your ancestral ties. There's there's nothing,
- 4:05there's, there's, it's a very kind of open-ended invitation
- 4:08Vite to accepting folks into this this path.
- 4:14Then you've got tribal heat memory which Is is sort of the
- 4:22the the path or the direction that I want to lean more
- 4:26towards, while I'm accepting of everybody.
- 4:29And anybody, I don't feel that there's anything that should or
- 4:33could restrict someone from wanting to pursue Germanic
- 4:38paganism. The the tribal aspect of of
- 4:42heathen re it is is that there's a structure in tribe is
- 4:49Paramount within this path or within this particular approach
- 4:54to this path and what I mean by tribal Heathen re is that and
- 4:58then the structure of it all is that, you know, there is, there
- 5:02is a set sort of hierarchy within the collective of folks,
- 5:07you have your Chieftain, you have a sometimes, in some
- 5:13tribes, you have the, the title, or the Addition of Chieftain to
- 5:21be combined with that of the Goethe.
- 5:24The gozi being sort of the spiritual leader of the of the
- 5:29tribe, some tribes will have a Chieftain / go, the and that
- 5:34person sort of takes on the leadership role, and the
- 5:38religious leader role, other tribes will have a definitive
- 5:41separation between Chieftain and Goethe.
- 5:45You'll have quite often a Law speaker.
- 5:51Somebody who's, you know, sort of designated to be the order of
- 5:59Law and to keep things structured and orderly in the in
- 6:05a lawful manner within the tribe and you'll have other things to
- 6:10different tribes will have their structure set up differently.
- 6:12It's not that there's necessarily a one all you know,
- 6:18approach to it. Some folks will take a very
- 6:22historical approach to it to a tribal structure and you know,
- 6:27you will have your Chieftain, you have your go that your Seer
- 6:30you'll have your, you know, the law speaker.
- 6:34You'll have different positions that in our teeth and times had,
- 6:39you know, we can see from the sagas and stuff that there were
- 6:45definite positions held within the tribe.
- 6:51And every tribe will do things differently.
- 6:54I like this. I like the the approach to
- 6:56tribal Heathen re I like the fact that it's not so much
- 7:00focused on, you know, it's not like it, lets everybody in but
- 7:06there's there's there's a there's a structure, there's a
- 7:08need to establish trust. There's a quite often the
- 7:13Worthing process or vetting period for for new folks that
- 7:17want to become part of the tribe.
- 7:19Sort of prove their worth. I like that.
- 7:22It just kind of fits my interest and how he than I how I see.
- 7:29He even reworking from a tribal aspect and then we have the
- 7:35focus, focus focus, even re and this is, this is one of those
- 7:41things that My view on Focus sheet and reasons that I don't
- 7:48necessarily see Focus. She Landry.
- 7:53As inherently being a bad thing. But recently, and in very recent
- 8:00times that term has left, a really sour taste in my mouth.
- 8:06When I say it. And when I hear it, and it
- 8:08leaves a sour taste in a lot of folks, mouths that that are that
- 8:13are heathens. There's there's this sort of
- 8:16preconceived notion that when you talk about Focus Heathen re
- 8:21that there's a lot of Of racist undertones to that approach of
- 8:26heathen. During the reason for that is
- 8:29because you know, one of the things that make Focus heat
- 8:34Andre what it is, is that there's a, there's a very hard
- 8:38focus on your ancestral ties and there's a very hard focus on
- 8:44your own Heritage and, you know, sticking to your Your roots and
- 8:54not just your roots, but just the whole the Heritage thing.
- 8:58And the reason why it becomes such a problem for heathens
- 9:04nowadays, when they hear see Focus even groups is that, that,
- 9:09that that mentality, that thing of preserving, Heritage
- 9:13preserving the traditions of your heritage, you know, that
- 9:17that attracts the far right and the race Types of folks, okay?
- 9:24And that's just the facts. That's just how it is.
- 9:27You really, you really won't see runes or Norse Pagan symbols or
- 9:35the The names of our date, he's the symbols, the sacred, symbols
- 9:41of this fat of this Faith, or this path, you won't ever see it
- 9:45really misused or misrepresented in a negative way, or in a
- 9:49racist way from anything other than focus groups.
- 9:54Okay, I've not seen Universalist heathens or even tribal,
- 9:59heathens misrepresenting being misrepresented in a negative
- 10:03way, it's usually always with the focus, Oops.
- 10:07And that's where I have the problem.
- 10:11Do I see the value? And in the end, the importance
- 10:15of preserving Heritage. Yes.
- 10:16Absolutely. Because Heritage is something
- 10:19that is in, you know, tied to a region.
- 10:24It's not tied to a race. It's tied to the culture of a
- 10:28people from a region. So to, yeah.
- 10:33And you can't you can't tie race to that.
- 10:35You can't say that it's, you know, A northern European white
- 10:39thing. It's if it's if you want to get
- 10:41right down to it, you want to say that it's northern European,
- 10:45there's you know, hard archaeological, evidence
- 10:48evidence that can back up and support.
- 10:51The fact that it's, you know, our ancestors were not a pure
- 10:57white race when talking about the northern European side of
- 11:01things. And that's that.
- 11:02It's hogwash. It's absolute ridiculous.
- 11:06Propaganda to think that you are exclusive to being able to
- 11:16believe or worship or venerate a Pantheon of gods because you are
- 11:24not white. Okay?
- 11:27Now the caveat with that is that what what, what I see focused
- 11:32folks doing what I see. Focus heathens doing is saying
- 11:35that will hey Not, we're not racist.
- 11:37We're just saying that, you know, people should stick to
- 11:40worshiping if they, if they want to be polytheistic, if they want
- 11:43to have a Pantheon of gods to worship, then they should stick
- 11:46to the pantheon of gods that are indigenous to their ancestral
- 11:52regions, okay? So what they're saying is that,
- 11:55you know, if you're of a South American, Hispanic Latino
- 12:00descent and, you know, you shouldn't be focusing on the
- 12:04northern European Gods, you should And if anything be
- 12:07focusing on the gods that are indigenous or that are from the
- 12:13indigenous areas that your ancestors are from.
- 12:16So why would you feel a draw? Why would you feel a pull to
- 12:21venerate or worship gods that you have no literal Blood Ties
- 12:27to or Heritage ties to because within at least the anak
- 12:36paganism approach to things. Ancestral veneration is huge and
- 12:44is a big thing for us. We look to our ancestors for
- 12:48guidance and strength and comfort for our day-to-day type
- 12:52things, and the veneration of the gods are aside from our own
- 12:59individual. Cultic practices things that we
- 13:01do in our, within our home, how those practices come to
- 13:05fruition. Aside from that, the gods are
- 13:10venerated at certain and specific times of the year for
- 13:13certain. Holy tides that we have
- 13:16documented in the sagas, specifically, like angling a
- 13:20saga, where we see that, you know, the communities all come
- 13:25together and the tribes collect together.
- 13:28One on the, the community as a collective joins to venerate a
- 13:33God or Gods at a specific time of Here we have, you know, the
- 13:37summer, the coming of Summer, really like secret about the
- 13:40victory bloat that that ends the winter months and welcomes in
- 13:45the spring or harvest months. And then we also have the usual
- 13:51times of the year where there's a definite specific way of how
- 13:57our Chieftains pre-christian heathens venerated or celebrated
- 14:03their gods and stuff that time of year.
- 14:05So with the whole ancestor thing, you know, that's why we
- 14:10see Focus heathens say, you know, hey we're not saying we're
- 14:15racist, we're saying that you should just focus.
- 14:17Kisan. The, the pantheon of gods or you
- 14:19should focus on your answers from here.
- 14:23And that's, that's utter BS to me as well, because who's to say
- 14:29that, okay, you're not purely of anything.
- 14:32You can't say, like, you can trace your DNA, you can do
- 14:35these, you know, ancestry.com 23andMe, whatever these other
- 14:40online, give us your DNA. We're going to tell you where
- 14:43the hell you came from stuff that you pay out the ass for it.
- 14:49And so, what that tells you that that's where Your bloodline is
- 14:55connected with, right? Well, guess what?
- 14:58You also have ancestry to places that whether minimally or not
- 15:02through your bloodline, you know, places of the
- 15:06Mediterranean places of Africa, places of, you know, outside of
- 15:10where you think you maybe are from.
- 15:14So in that, in that sense, there's ancestral ties through
- 15:19your DNA through your blood to a lot of places.
- 15:22So if people want to venerate the gods and want to choose to
- 15:28focus on the ancestors of a certain area, let's take me for
- 15:31instance, okay, my my ancestry is largely focused in, you know,
- 15:41Germany. I'm I'm German, I'm Dutch, I'm
- 15:46English, Irish Scottish and Amongst other things like Sims.
- 15:55Don't Native American Indian Algonquin Nation Indian
- 15:58specifically Italian, okay? So, for instance, my mother is
- 16:03half Italian and half German. So I've got at least little up
- 16:08to a quarter part Italian. So that's a pretty good chunk.
- 16:14I think that's a pretty good, you know, ratio of my DNA as
- 16:19being low, even though a lot of it is northern European.
- 16:23Then you know why aren't I focused more on the
- 16:28Mediterranean side of my family? Why aren't I focused more on
- 16:33venerating? You know, the Roman gods of my
- 16:37Roman ancestors. I don't know a whole lot about
- 16:40them and but, you know, if I felt the draw to that, I don't
- 16:45think I would be excluded from from practicing that such as it
- 16:48exists. So, I feel like there's people
- 16:51out here who have and Social ties to parts of Northern
- 16:55Europe, maybe even, you know, medieval Scandinavia, all these
- 16:59places. Where are they?
- 17:00The Germanic God's sort of originated from and just because
- 17:05they don't look a certain way. Just because they don't have a
- 17:08certain skin tone, these Focus heathens want to exclude them,
- 17:12from being able to practice Heathen, re in that way.
- 17:17And it's in, it's, it's horrible and I don't back that up.
- 17:22Up in the very at all, you know my stance on on racism and
- 17:27bigotry is a zero-tolerance stand up against it, I'll speak
- 17:32out against it and when it comes down to it, you know if Focus
- 17:38Heathen re continues on in the way that it is in the majority
- 17:42of folks that that practice focused even re you know,
- 17:46display racist Tendencies. And I'm going to speak out
- 17:49against that. That's not what Heathen re is
- 17:52about. Our ancestors did not exclude
- 17:54People based off of their skin color based off of their race
- 17:58exclusion from the community exclusion exclusion from your
- 18:01tribe being outlawed, being gluten, God, you know, those
- 18:05things were based off of the Deeds that were done you
- 18:09violated for a few you broke, you know of that you broke your
- 18:13Oaths, you your oath breaker you were a Kinsler.
- 18:16You had very specific deeds done at that time, too.
- 18:24Make you such to make you a excluded and it wasn't because
- 18:28you were from another Nation or from another country or from
- 18:32another region and you look different and they say well
- 18:35that's not that's not a master race that's not what we're
- 18:39about. Blah blah blah, they didn't have
- 18:41that concept and have that mentality.
- 18:44You are superior you are better than somebody else based on the
- 18:47fact of your work your worth how you've done things.
- 18:51You know we may not Be all equal in the sense that I am not as
- 18:56strong as somebody else listening to this podcast right
- 18:59now. I may not be as fast.
- 19:01I may not be as, you know, attractive, I may not have all
- 19:04these other things. I am not equal.
- 19:05We are not equals, but equality is available to all of us.
- 19:11Do we can accomplish things, we can do things because we all
- 19:13have the resources, we all have the ability to do those things.
- 19:18You know what I mean? So to say that, To to say that
- 19:24there it exists. Exclusionary it, that it's
- 19:27theirs. You don't erase of people can't
- 19:33or shouldn't follow this path. Who the hell are you?
- 19:36Who do you, where do you come off?
- 19:38Saying that about anybody. Let people follow what they want
- 19:44to follow the people. Hey.
- 19:47Sorry about that. Very abrupt Interruption from
- 19:52the episode. That was a mistake on my part.
- 19:54But you know let people my whole point was as it let people do
- 19:58what they do, let people say what they want to let people be
- 20:01how they want to be if they want to hail the gods of Northern
- 20:05Europe and they you know they they have a less than you know
- 20:08third of their bloodline or whatever.
- 20:10Begin. Who the hell are you to
- 20:11determine? Because of will the way they
- 20:14look, you know, where they're, they're, they're patronymic
- 20:18their last name, anything like that.
- 20:19You have no right to say that. You shouldn't say that and you
- 20:23have no. Right.
- 20:24You know, guys I'm sorry for kind of going off on a rant
- 20:27there because that's, it's something that just really boils
- 20:31my blood. I want to see Heathen regrow, I
- 20:34want to see it become something that, you know, the more we give
- 20:38power to the, to our, to, the old gods, Seeing a Resurgence,
- 20:44we're seeing a rise in the interest in hearing from all
- 20:48parts of the world. And as that happens, the gods
- 20:51are getting the power. We are giving the power back in
- 20:54to the cosmos for the gods to to be recognized and to bring out
- 20:59those things that help us grow as heathens.
- 21:04I shared something today on the Facebook page, which if you
- 21:08follow midgard musings on Facebook you would have seen
- 21:11that in this was something that I had That I saw or heard
- 21:14actually posted on a fellow YouTuber, friend of mine.
- 21:19His name is Eric Sherman, he has a YouTube channel called the
- 21:22Ravens call. And, you know, he talked about
- 21:25it recently and it's, you know, the ordered structure of things
- 21:28of how he then we, you know, healthy Heathen practices is
- 21:33Hearth. Clan tribe Community.
- 21:36First and foremost is your Hearth.
- 21:38It's your home. It's your in and guard.
- 21:39It's the people who are live with, who are around you.
- 21:43Who share in your day-to-day lives that the people who are
- 21:47most your most closely you're connected to your spouse.
- 21:51For instance, you know, that is your that is your Hearth as an
- 21:54example. Then you have your clan, you
- 21:56know, your family, people who you've actually have Blood Ties
- 22:00to your kin, you know, and then you have the tribe that builds
- 22:05not necessarily from your blood can, but that can include your
- 22:09blood can. But that tribe is family that
- 22:12extends. Beyond blood.
- 22:14No, those who have Oath to their Legions who those who have owed
- 22:18themselves to you, who have tied weird with you.
- 22:21And then, you know, Community tribe comes from Community, you
- 22:25know? But your priority should be, I
- 22:29feel anyway, is Hearth Clan tribe, and Community.
- 22:33Worry about your in guard, worry about your close family first,
- 22:36and then your extended family, and then the tribe that develops
- 22:40and comes as results. Of efforts being made by people
- 22:44to worth themselves in a close Collective.
- 22:49And then, gather often gather and network with one another to
- 22:53build a community. So that way there's an
- 22:55opportunity for tribes to be formed and to build and to grow,
- 23:00quick being stuck on this whole thing of, you know, preserving
- 23:04your race preserving their preserving Heritage, and
- 23:07preserving Trot Traditions, preserving culture has nothing
- 23:11to do with your damn race. All right, the cultures of a
- 23:14region the cultures are adopted over time.
- 23:18You know, you have mixture of cultures you'll have, you know,
- 23:21Regional cultures that have stood the test of time because
- 23:23these are things that people have been doing for thousands
- 23:25and thousands of years. But do they not pick up on
- 23:28cultures from other areas as well?
- 23:30People who come in and then introduce cultures and of of
- 23:33their regions themselves, there's is there not a mixture
- 23:36of culture that happens over the over the years and over over
- 23:40time. Of course, there is There is no
- 23:43white culture, there's no black culture and, you know, culture
- 23:47is based off of your region and it's based off of the things
- 23:51that the people of that region does is nothing to do with their
- 23:54color. Their skin white isn't a race
- 23:56black isn't a race quit being stuck on this whole racial
- 24:00superiority garbage and it's all it is is garbage.
- 24:04If this Focus Heathen remove meant, stay stuck on preserving,
- 24:10white, Heritage and white, this and white that You guys can
- 24:13just, you know, neither dog. Not your ankles forever and made
- 24:20it his poison drip on you for eternity because that is
- 24:23garbage. And it's not what he even raised
