  God sees and God answers. Have you ever prayed for
• 0:15
  something so deeply, so desperately, that it felt like
• 0:19
  God just wasn't listening? Like your prayer was going up,
• 0:23
  but nothing was coming back down?
• 0:25
  That kind of waiting can mess with your faith.
• 0:28
  It can make you wonder if God cares, if He sees if he's even
• 0:31
  there at all. Hannah knew that feeling.
• 0:35
  First Samuel chapter 1, verses 10 and 11 say she was deeply
• 0:40
  distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.
• 0:43
  And she vowed A vow and said, O Lord of hosts, if you will
• 0:47
  indeed look on the affliction of your servant and Remember Me, I
• 0:50
  will give him to the Lord. All the days of his life.
• 0:53
  Hannah had been longing for a child for years.
• 0:56
  She had been mocked and dismissed, and in her deepest
• 0:59
  pain, she didn't walk away from God, She walked toward Him.

  She brought her mess, her tears, her honest heartbreak straight
• 1:07
  to God's feet. That's something powerful right
• 1:10
  there. We often think we have to clean
• 1:13
  ourselves up before we come to God, like we can only bring our
• 1:16
  prayers once we've got it together.
• 1:19
  But Hannah shows us a different way.
• 1:21
  She came broken. She came weeping, she came with
• 1:25
  nothing but her desperation and her trust and God heard her.
• 1:29
  And what's even more beautiful is what happened after, after
• 1:33
  God answered her prayer and gave her a son, Samuel.
• 1:37
  Hannah didn't forget where that blessing came from.
• 1:39
  First Samuel chapter 2 verse one says and Hannah prayed and said,
• 1:44
  my heart exalts in the Lord, My strength is exalted in the Lord.
• 1:48
  She didn't keep the blessing quietly.
• 1:50
  She turned it into praise. She let her answered prayer
• 1:54
  become a testimony. Now in the middle of this
• 1:57
  Proverbs chapter 17, verse 5 drops a word we shouldn't skip.

  Whoever mocks the poor insults his Maker.
• 2:04
  He who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished.
• 2:08
  God sees how we treat people who are hurting.
• 2:11
  Hannah was mocked and belittled in her pain, and God took note.
• 2:15
  He cares about how we respond to those around us who are
• 2:18
  suffering. Compassion isn't optional for
• 2:20
  the person of faith. It's a reflection of God's own
• 2:24
  heart. So what does this mean for us
• 2:26
  today? It means that God sees your
• 2:29
  tears. He hears those prayers you've
• 2:31
  been praying in the quiet late at night when nobody else knows
• 2:35
  what you're going through. He hasn't forgotten you, even
• 2:38
  when the waiting feels long. And like Hannah, your pain
• 2:42
  doesn't have to make you bitter. It can make you better.
• 2:45
  It can deepen your faith, soften your heart toward others who are
• 2:48
  hurting, and set up a story of praise that glorifies God in
• 2:52
  ways you never expected. Don't quit in the waiting.
• 2:57
  God is working even when you can't see it.

  Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 3:04
  hearing us when we cry out to You.
• 3:06
  Help us to trust You in the waiting, even when the silence
• 3:09
  feels long and the pain feels heavy.
• 3:12
  Teach us to bring our real selves to You, just like Hannah
• 3:15
  did, and to show compassion to others around us who are
• 3:18
  hurting. We believe that you can turn our
• 3:21
  pain into praise. We believe you see us.
• 3:24
  Help us to keep trusting until the breakthrough comes.
• 3:27
  In Jesus name, Amen. When the battle feels personal,

  The two sons of Eli, Hofni, and Feynhas, priests to Yahweh, were

  there. When the day came that Elkanah

  sacrificed, he gave to Penina his wife, and to all her sons
• 5:24
  and her daughter's portions, but to Hannah he gave a double
• 5:28
  portion, for he loved Hannah, but Yahweh had shut up her womb.

  Her rival provoked her severely to irritate her, because Yahweh
• 5:37
  had shut up her womb. So year by year, when she went
• 5:40
  up to Yahweh's house, her rival provoked her.
• 5:43
  Therefore she wept and didn't eat.

  Elkanah, her husband, said to her, Hannah, why do you weep?

  Why don't you eat? Why is your heart grieved?

  Am I not better to you than ten sons?

  So Hannah rose up after they had finished eating and drinking in
• 5:57
  Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting

  on his seat by the doorpost of Yahweh's temple.

  She was in bitterness of soul and prayed to Yahweh.

  Weeping bitterly, she vowed A vow and said, Yahweh of armies,
• 6:12
  if you will indeed look at the affliction of your servant, and
• 6:14
  Remember Me, and not forget your servant, but will give to your
• 6:18
  servant a boy, then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of
• 6:22
  his life, and no razor shall come on his head.
• 6:25
  As she continued praying before Yahweh, Eli saw her mouth.
• 6:29
  Now Hannah spoke in her heart only her lips moved, but her
• 6:33
  voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was
• 6:36
  drunk. Eli said to her, How long will
• 6:38
  you be drunk? Get rid of your wine.
• 6:41
  Hannah answered. No my Lord, I am a woman of a
• 6:44
  sorrowful spirit. I have not been drinking wine or
• 6:47
  strong drink, but I poured out my soul before Yahweh.
• 6:51
  Don't consider your servant a wicked woman, for I have been
• 6:54
  speaking out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation.
• 6:58
  Then Eli answered, Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant
• 7:03
  your petition that you have asked of him.
• 7:05
  She said, Let your servant find favor in your sight.
• 7:09
  So the woman went her way and ate, and her facial expression
• 7:13
  wasn't sad anymore. They rose up in the morning
• 7:16
  early and worshipped Yahweh, then returned and came to their
• 7:20
  house to Rama, then Elkin and knew Hannah his wife, and Yahweh
• 7:24
  remembered her. When the time had come, Hannah
• 7:27
  conceived and bore a son, and she named him Samuel, saying,
• 7:31
  Because I have asked him of Yahweh.
• 7:33
  The man Elkanah and all his house went up to offer to Yahweh
• 7:37
  the yearly sacrifice and his vow.
• 7:41
  But Hannah didn't go up, for she said to her husband, not until
• 7:44
  the child is weaned, then I will bring him, that he may appear
• 7:47
  before Yahweh and stay there forever.
• 7:50
  Elkanah her husband said to her, Do what seems good to you, wait
• 7:55
  until you have weaned him only. May Yahweh establish his word.
• 7:59
  So the woman waited and nursed her son until she weaned him.

  When she had weaned him, she took him up with her with three
• 8:06
  bowls and 1E for of meal and a container of wine and brought

  him to Yahweh's house in Shiloh. The child was young.

  They killed the bull and brought the child to Eli.

  She said, Oh my Lord, as your soul lives, my Lord, I am the

  woman who stood by you here praying to Yahweh.

  I prayed for this child and Yahweh has given me my petition
• 8:28
  which I asked of him. Therefore I have also given him
• 8:31
  to Yahweh. As long as he lives, he is given
• 8:33
  to Yahweh. He worshipped Yahweh there.
• 8:37
  Hannah prayed and said, My heart exalts in Yahweh, My horn is
• 8:41
  exalted in Yahweh. My mouth is enlarged over my
• 8:44
  enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.
• 8:48
  There is no one as holy as Yahweh, for there is no one
• 8:51
  besides you, nor is there any rock like our God.
• 8:54
  Don't keep talking so exceedingly proudly.
• 8:58
  Don't let arrogance come out of your mouth, for Yahweh is a God

  of knowledge. By Him actions are weighed.

  The bows of the mighty men are broken.

  Those who stumbled are armed with strength.

  Those who were full of hired themselves out for bread.

  Those who are hungry are satisfied.

  Yes, the Baron has borne 7. She who has many children

  languishes. Yahweh kills and makes alive.

  Yahweh makes poor and makes rich.

  For the pillars of the earth are Yahweh's.

  He has set the world on them. He will keep the feet of His

  holy ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness.

  For no man will prevail by strength.

  Those who strive with Yahweh shall be broken to pieces.

  He will Thunder against them in the sky.

  Yahweh will judge the ends of the earth.

  He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his

  anointed. Elkanah went to Rama, to his
• 10:04
  house. The child served Yahweh before
• 10:07
  Eli the priest. Now the sons of Eli were wicked
• 10:10
  men. They didn't know Yahweh.

  The custom of the priests with the people was that when anyone
• 10:16
  offered a sacrifice, the priest's servant came while the
• 10:19
  meat was boiling with a fork of three teeth in his hand, and he
• 10:23
  stabbed it into the pan or kettle or cauldron or pot.
• 10:28
  The priest took all that the fork brought up for himself.
• 10:31
  They did this to all the Israelites who came there to
• 10:33
  Shiloh. Yes, before they burn the fat,
• 10:37
  the priest's servant came and said to the man who sacrificed,
• 10:41
  Give meat to roast for the priest, for he will not accept
• 10:44
  boiled meat from you, but raw. If the man said to him, let the
• 10:48
  fat be burned 1st, and then take as much as your soul desires,
• 10:52
  then he would say no, but you shall give it to me now, and if
• 10:55
  not, I will take it by force. The sin of the young men was
• 11:00
  very great before Yahweh, for the men despised Yahweh's

  offering. But Samuel ministered before
• 11:07
  Yahweh, being a child clothed with a linen ephod.
• 11:11
  Moreover, his mother made him a little robe and brought it to
• 11:14
  him from year to year. When she came up with her
• 11:16
  husband to offer the yearly sacrifice, Eli blessed Elkanah
• 11:21
  and his wife and said, May Yahweh give you offspring from
• 11:25
  this woman for the petition which was asked of Yahweh.
• 11:28
  Then they went to their own home.
• 11:30
  Yahweh visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons
• 11:34
  and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before
• 11:37
  Yahweh. Now Eli was very old, and he
• 11:41
  heard all that his sons did to all Israel, and how that they
• 11:44
  slept with the women who served at the door of the tent of
• 11:47
  meeting. He said to them, Why do you do
• 11:50
  such things? For I hear of your evil dealings
• 11:52
  from all these people. No, my sons, for it is not a
• 11:56
  good report that I hear. You make Yahweh's people
• 11:58
  disobey. If one man sins against another,
• 12:02
  God will judge him. But if a man sins against
• 12:05
  Yahweh, who will intercede for him?
• 12:07
  Notwithstanding, they didn't listen to the voice of their
• 12:10
  father, because Yahweh intended to kill them.
• 12:15
  The child Samuel grew on and increased in favor both with
• 12:18
  Yahweh and also with men. A man of God came to Eli and
• 12:23
  said to him, Yahweh says, Did I reveal myself to the House of
• 12:27
  your father when they were in Egypt in bondage to Pharaoh's
• 12:29
  house? Didn't I choose him out of all
• 12:32
  the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to
• 12:36
  burn incense, to wear an ephod before me?
• 12:40
  Didn't I give to the House of your father all the offerings of
• 12:43
  the children of Israel made by fire?
• 12:46
  Why do you kick at my sacrifice and at my offering which I have
• 12:50
  commanded in my habitation, and honor your sons above me to make
• 12:55
  yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel, My
• 12:57
  people. Therefore Yahweh, the God of
• 13:00
  Israel, says, I said indeed that your house and the House of your
• 13:04
  Father should walk before me forever.
• 13:07
  But now Yahweh says, far be it from me, for those who honor me
• 13:11
  I will honor, and those who despise me will be cursed.
• 13:16
  Behold the days come that I will cut off your arm and the arm of
• 13:19
  your father's house, that there will not be an old man in your
• 13:22
  house. You will see the affliction of
• 13:25
  my habitation in all the wealth which I will give Israel.
• 13:29
  There shall not be an old man in your house forever.
• 13:32
  The man of yours whom I don't cut off from my altar will
• 13:35
  consume your eyes and grieve your heart.
• 13:38
  All the increase of your house will die in the flower of their
• 13:41
  age. This will be the sign to you
• 13:43
  that will come on your two sons on Hoffney and Feinhas.
• 13:47
  In one day they will both die. I will raise up a faithful
• 13:51
  priest for myself who will do according to that which is in my
• 13:54
  heart and in my mind. I will build him a sure house.
• 13:58
  He will walk before my anointed forever.

  It will happen that everyone who is left in your house will come
• 14:04
  and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread,

  and will say, Please put me into one of the priests offices that
• 14:13
