- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey again, everybody. Welcome to a new season of the
- 0:14Speaker 1: Eagles Bird Weekly Show. It is brought to you by
- 0:16Speaker 1: the Inside the Birds Network. The 2026 NFL season is
- 0:21Speaker 1: up and running, and it's a new season. And I
- 0:24Speaker 1: have a new co-host, and this man here is a
- 0:26Speaker 1: familiar face throughout the region. And he and I worked
- 0:29Speaker 1: together for a long time before he dumped me for
- 0:32Speaker 1: somebody else. But that's okay. I'm not holding it against him.
- 0:35Speaker 1: It's okay. It's quite all right. But, you know, Barrett,
- 0:37Speaker 1: the one and only Barrett Brooks and B. Brooks. You know,
- 0:41Speaker 1: there's an old song that says, we are together once again.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Just when you thought you got rid of me, we're back, baby. Yeah.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Bro, bro, you trying to get rid of me, man.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I'm just like that old cough that come back every year.
- 0:56Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? I'm that old cough. I'm
- 0:58Speaker 3: right here. I'm right here. You can't get rid of me, man.
- 1:01Speaker 3: You can't get rid of me.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Well, of course, the Eagles kick off the 2026 campaign
- 1:07Speaker 1: against a divisional foe. And what an entertaining game it was.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And what a game it was. You come out of
- 1:13Speaker 1: scratching your head at certain things that went on in
- 1:15Speaker 1: the game. And, of course... You know, the Eagles prevailed. Somehow, someway,
- 1:19Speaker 1: they prevailed 24-22, especially after that botched two-point try by
- 1:25Speaker 1: the commanders. But, Barry, first of all, give me your
- 1:29Speaker 1: overall general impression of the way you saw the game
- 1:32Speaker 1: and how it turned out.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Actually, man, I was encouraged.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I actually liked what I saw because I thought they
- 1:41Speaker 2: were going to be a lot worse.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I mean, a whole lot worse than they were.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I mean, we're considering the fact that they never have
- 1:48Speaker 2: played together full speed. And for them to go out
- 1:52Speaker 2: and play in a new offense, and this is really
- 1:54Speaker 2: a new offense.
- 1:56Speaker 3: This offense is nothing they've ever run before.
- 1:59Speaker 2: This is the closest to a new thing that I've
- 2:02Speaker 2: seen in the past six offensive coordinators they've had for
- 2:04Speaker 2: Jalen since his career.
- 2:06Speaker 3: So, I'm looking at it, and I'm like, it's considerably different.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 3: And he's very comfortable in running it.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So.
- 2:15Speaker 3: To me, it was a big deal.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So I thought they were ahead of the game, far
- 2:19Speaker 2: ahead of the game as far as where they need
- 2:21Speaker 2: to be at to really be a good team. And
- 2:24Speaker 2: I thought they were ahead of the curve as far
- 2:26Speaker 2: as Jalen's maturation in this offense. He knew where to
- 2:29Speaker 2: go with the ball. He made the right calls. He
- 2:31Speaker 2: put them in great situations. To me, he played a
- 2:35Speaker 2: great game.
- 2:37Speaker 1: You know, to have six different coordinators in six consecutive years,
- 2:41Speaker 1: is a lot to ask anybody at this particular level,
- 2:44Speaker 1: but I'm with you. I expected it to be a
- 2:47Speaker 1: little bit more raggedy because of lack of game reps
- 2:51Speaker 1: in the preseason. I saw some fluidity there that I
- 2:55Speaker 1: didn't expect. And obviously we haven't seen the full playbook
- 2:59Speaker 1: yet of what Sean Manion wants to run with this offense.
- 3:02Speaker 1: As he gets more comfortable with his personnel, the personnel
- 3:05Speaker 1: continues to get comfortable with him. But, What we did see,
- 3:10Speaker 1: even though it was a little jagged at times, we
- 3:13Speaker 1: saw the capability of it being a big play offense.
- 3:16Speaker 1: They have seven plays of 20 or more yards in
- 3:20Speaker 1: this particular game, and that's not bad for the first
- 3:22Speaker 1: game in a new offense where you really haven't been
- 3:24Speaker 1: playing with the bullets that have been flying. Now, do
- 3:27Speaker 1: they have a lot of work to do? Yes. But
- 3:31Speaker 1: you know what? You've still got 16 games to work
- 3:33Speaker 1: it all out, and you're starting in the plus ledger
- 3:36Speaker 1: instead of the minus ledger.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You're absolutely right, D-Gun. But one thing I did say,
- 3:40Speaker 2: I'm like, you know what? That's a lot of big plays.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I mean, seven plays of 20 yards or more. But
- 3:46Speaker 2: can they sustain that? I wanted to see a more
- 3:53Speaker 2: in-depth offensive running game. I wanted to see more consistency.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I don't want them to be a big play offense
- 4:00Speaker 2: all the time, and that's the only way they know
- 4:02Speaker 2: how to score or move the ball. I wanted some
- 4:04Speaker 2: consistency on how they ran the ball. I want to
- 4:07Speaker 2: see consistency as far as them, you know, executing the offense.
- 4:11Speaker 2: You know, and I saw things that were very. They
- 4:17Speaker 2: were very, you know, they were they were very good
- 4:20Speaker 2: at times.
- 4:21Speaker 3: And then I look and I saw some things where.
- 4:24Speaker 2: All they have to do is just one more step
- 4:26Speaker 2: or do this a little bit, and it will be
- 4:29Speaker 2: a big play or it will be a game, you know.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Four or five yards. You know, it's a marathon. It's
- 4:33Speaker 3: not a sprint.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And if they came out and just, you know, been
- 4:36Speaker 2: throwing the ball their way, and they'd be like, oh, man,
- 4:39Speaker 2: they sprinting instead of it being a marathon.
- 4:41Speaker 3: But I like the fact that they went out. I
- 4:43Speaker 3: saw some execution things.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I saw some stuff, you know, with the new scheme
- 4:47Speaker 2: that they have to coach and that, you know, something
- 4:51Speaker 2: they couldn't.
- 4:51Speaker 3: See when they were in practice.
- 4:54Speaker 2: These are things that I knew it was going to.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Happen to you.
- 4:57Speaker 2: So in-game changes from the commander's standpoint on the defensive
- 5:01Speaker 2: side of the ball to really put them in a
- 5:03Speaker 2: situation like, all right, we got to learn from this.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Let's take this, watch film on it, because this is
- 5:07Speaker 2: a copycat league. And you know you're going to get
- 5:09Speaker 2: the same stuff when you go to the Titans this
- 5:12Speaker 2: next week. So I'm glad that they, I'm glad they,
- 5:16Speaker 2: I'm glad that, you know, I saw the little things.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I know the stuff they're going to be trying to coach. And,
- 5:20Speaker 2: you know, as they go forward, they're going to be
- 5:22Speaker 2: pretty good. They're going to be pretty good.
- 5:24Speaker 1: All right, we're going to start with the trench warfare.
- 5:27Speaker 1: And each and every week, we're going to do a
- 5:29Speaker 1: little segment that we call Inside the Line. I came
- 5:32Speaker 1: up with that, by the way, Barrett, so just so
- 5:34Speaker 1: you know who came up with that. But we're going
- 5:37Speaker 1: to play to your strength, which is offensive line play.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And if there's one glaring weakness that we saw, it
- 5:43Speaker 1: was the inconsistency of the Eagles' offensive line. And the
- 5:47Speaker 1: two guys who really stood out more negatively than positively
- 5:51Speaker 1: were Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson. How surprised were you
- 5:56Speaker 1: that both of these guys came back in what appeared
- 5:58Speaker 1: to be a healthy state, but yet the offensive line
- 6:05Speaker 1: in general, from tackle to tackle, and let's also add,
- 6:08Speaker 1: you've got a lot of money invested in this whole line,
- 6:11Speaker 1: played as inconsistent as they did in this game.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you this.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I am so glad that, you know, everybody's heard the
- 6:20Speaker 2: news now that Cam Juergens, not Cam Juergens, but Dickerson
- 6:26Speaker 2: was put on IR.
- 6:27Speaker 3: I am so glad. It took a weight off my chest,
- 6:31Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying?
- 6:32Speaker 2: I'm like, whew.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Because if that was him and he played that way
- 6:37Speaker 3: and that's what he had going forward.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I thought we were doomed. I thought we were doomed,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you know, because I've never seen him play like that.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I've never seen an offensive line start and play like that,
- 6:48Speaker 2: number one. And it would have been very concerning to
- 6:52Speaker 2: me if that wasn't the case.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I mean, it had to be an injury. It had
- 6:55Speaker 3: to be an injury because he couldn't move.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I mean, I know he didn't get that old in
- 7:00Speaker 2: just six months of an offseason. And what I saw was.
- 7:06Speaker 3: A statue out there, a totem pole.
- 7:09Speaker 2: He just couldn't move. He wasn't effective. He couldn't bend,
- 7:13Speaker 2: and he couldn't explode. There was no pop at contact.
- 7:17Speaker 2: So because of that, he looked real bad, and I'm
- 7:20Speaker 2: so glad, man. I mean, I never want anybody to
- 7:22Speaker 2: get hurt, but I'm so glad he's hurt. And I
- 7:25Speaker 2: mean that with love, you know, because Dickerson is my dude.
- 7:27Speaker 3: That's my man. You know what I'm saying?
- 7:28Speaker 2: I just saw Dickerson at the airport last week, and
- 7:31Speaker 2: we talked, we chopped it up for a little bit.
- 7:34Speaker 2: And I'm glad that he was injured because if that
- 7:38Speaker 2: was the Dickinson that I was going to see for
- 7:40Speaker 2: the rest.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Of the year, we just couldn't do it.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And that's no matter how much money you paid him,
- 7:46Speaker 2: we couldn't go forward with those type of plays that
- 7:49Speaker 2: I saw. I mean, there were times when he was
- 7:50Speaker 2: just getting spun around. He couldn't, you know, he couldn't
- 7:52Speaker 2: snap off the stunts. And they took advantage of that,
- 7:55Speaker 2: you know, a stunt. They bring a linebacker in, he's
- 7:57Speaker 2: the penetrator, and they got the end will come up
- 8:00Speaker 2: and occupy Malata. And then as soon as, you know,
- 8:04Speaker 2: as soon as, you know, if he doesn't punch, if
- 8:05Speaker 2: Differson doesn't punch that linebacker and get separation, he blows
- 8:12Speaker 2: up Jordan Malata because he's trying to block that defensive
- 8:14Speaker 2: end that's sitting there, you know, baiting him and everything.
- 8:17Speaker 2: He's not even looking at that linebacker. And all of
- 8:20Speaker 2: a sudden, bam, he gets blown up on one side.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And then the end goes around. And Frankie Louvo and
- 8:26Speaker 2: the end weren't even touched.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I mean, at that point, Dickerson didn't touch either one
- 8:31Speaker 2: of them, the penetrator or the looper coming around. So, yeah,
- 8:35Speaker 2: it had to be something like that that was wrong
- 8:38Speaker 2: with him. You know what I'm saying? Even on run plays,
- 8:40Speaker 2: he couldn't move on run plays. And a lot of times,
- 8:43Speaker 2: you know, running backs getting hit in the backfield for
- 8:46Speaker 2: tackles for loss. So, yes, I was very concerned that
- 8:51Speaker 2: if it wasn't an injury, oh, my goodness, I would
- 8:54Speaker 2: have been so sick, you know, because I got to
- 8:56Speaker 2: tell the truth.
- 8:58Speaker 3: And he just did not play well. I mean, he
- 9:00Speaker 3: didn't play.
- 9:01Speaker 2: They weren't even playing well. It was, he looked disastrous
- 9:04Speaker 2: out there. So I'm glad that he, I'm glad it's
- 9:07Speaker 2: an injury and he's injured. I'm not glad that he's hurt.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Right, right.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I'm glad that what I put out on film was
- 9:13Speaker 2: something that's not of him because he was injured. That's
- 9:17Speaker 2: not the, that's not, because that's definitely not the guy
- 9:19Speaker 2: I saw in camp.
- 9:21Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 9:21Speaker 2: So, I mean, I don't know, that's a long dissertation,
- 9:24Speaker 2: but that's only because, you know, I care about this.
- 9:26Speaker 3: He's a great dude.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I believe if they'd have put in his backup and
- 9:37Speaker 2: they brought him out there, I really do believe that
- 9:39Speaker 2: it would have been a different story.
- 9:41Speaker 3: They'd have probably scored about 30 points. It was that bad.
- 9:45Speaker 2: If you'd have put any one of the two backups
- 9:48Speaker 2: in there, and I forgot his name, Drew Kendall. If
- 9:53Speaker 2: they'd have put Drew Kendall in there, they'd have scored maybe...
- 9:56Speaker 2: 30 points, 35 points, as opposed to the 25.
- 10:00Speaker 3: They scored so that's.
- 10:02Speaker 2: How much of a big deal him being out there
- 10:04Speaker 2: there was there were literally i counted like 10 to
- 10:08Speaker 2: 12 plays and was he looked so bad that you
- 10:10Speaker 2: couldn't run anything with the offense jaylen was running for
- 10:12Speaker 2: his life.
- 10:13Speaker 1: He didn't touch anybody or barely touched anybody. And basically,
- 10:17Speaker 1: guys were blowing past him before he got out of
- 10:19Speaker 1: his stance. And then on a couple of the hitch
- 10:22Speaker 1: passes to his side, you saw him just jogging. He
- 10:25Speaker 1: couldn't even pivot and get over there quick enough to
- 10:28Speaker 1: be a screen for the pass catcher. And you talked
- 10:33Speaker 1: about they put him on IR. and earlier, this is Monday,
- 10:37Speaker 1: so earlier on this day, he was on WIP, and
- 10:40Speaker 1: here's what he said, basically, I played like bleep yesterday.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I was a complete liability. It was my fault. I
- 10:48Speaker 1: should not have been out there until I feel healthy.
- 10:50Speaker 1: A few weeks ago, someone rolled up on me in practice.
- 10:54Speaker 1: We got some imaging on it today. Really, the best
- 10:57Speaker 1: plan going forward is to put me on IR and
- 11:00Speaker 1: so I can have a good stretch at the back
- 11:02Speaker 1: end of the season. I don't think anybody wants to
- 11:05Speaker 1: see that again. That was ugly. That was BS. This
- 11:08Speaker 1: is not related to last season. So after listening to
- 11:12Speaker 1: his statement and reading his statement, the first question I
- 11:15Speaker 1: asked Barrett is, they knew he was hurt. Why did
- 11:19Speaker 1: they even let him play in this game?
- 11:21Speaker 2: You can't really tell Dickerson not to play. He's earned cachet.
- 11:27Speaker 2: he's a player that, you know, he's going to give
- 11:29Speaker 2: a yeoman's effort. I mean, look what he did. Look
- 11:32Speaker 2: at the championship game when they won the Super Bowl.
- 11:35Speaker 2: He goes out there and he felt as though he
- 11:38Speaker 2: had to play simply because Juergens was more hurt than
- 11:42Speaker 2: he was.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:43Speaker 3: So he went out and played.
- 11:45Speaker 2: So, you know, and you know it all the time
- 11:48Speaker 2: and I tell you all the time, you can't trust
- 11:50Speaker 2: athletes when it comes to injuries.
- 11:51Speaker 1: You just can't do it.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Because we're going to want to play. We've got that
- 11:56Speaker 2: type of we've got that type of hard-headedness. And we
- 12:02Speaker 2: want to go out there and be players.
- 12:04Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? And that's the problem. We
- 12:06Speaker 3: want to be players. And, you know, think we can
- 12:09Speaker 3: fight through anything.
- 12:09Speaker 2: And he gave a yeoman's effort to go out there
- 12:12Speaker 2: and play what he did this time, you know, on Sunday.
- 12:15Speaker 3: He tried. He did the best he could. I mean,
- 12:17Speaker 3: he was held together by duct tape and bubble gum.
- 12:19Speaker 3: And for him to go out there and play, it
- 12:21Speaker 3: just goes to show that he's a competitive player. He
- 12:23Speaker 3: wanted to go out there and make it happen.
- 12:25Speaker 2: So, I applaud that effort, but, you know, to the
- 12:28Speaker 2: detriment of the team he played, he shouldn't have played.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And I think he understood it when he was out
- 12:33Speaker 2: there doing it. He couldn't move. He knew he couldn't move.
- 12:38Speaker 2: And I tell you what, most of all, you.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Got to look. Jalen Hurst was like, y'all see what's
- 12:47Speaker 3: going on? Help me.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Help me.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Help us.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Help me.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Help us. What do you want me to do?
- 12:56Speaker 2: You know, Jalen did a great job avoiding pressure, getting
- 12:59Speaker 2: out the huddle. You know, but he did, man, he
- 13:03Speaker 2: tried his best, man, and I applaud his effort.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I do.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I applaud his effort, man.
- 13:09Speaker 1: How surprised were you that Washington brought consistent heat the
- 13:12Speaker 1: way they did? Obviously, they have a new defensive coordinator
- 13:15Speaker 1: in Durante Jones. He's a direct disciple of Brian Flores
- 13:18Speaker 1: in Minnesota. And obviously Washington has a lot of new
- 13:22Speaker 1: players on defense. Man, they were bringing the heat almost
- 13:25Speaker 1: every down. They were coming up the middle. They were
- 13:27Speaker 1: coming off the edges. I don't think the Eagles were
- 13:29Speaker 1: ready for that. And the offensive line in particular was
- 13:31Speaker 1: not ready. Washington backed off a lot of the pressure
- 13:35Speaker 1: in the early part of the third quarter, and then
- 13:38Speaker 1: they ramped it up again once they figured, hey, we
- 13:40Speaker 1: got a chance to do something here. But I was
- 13:43Speaker 1: surprised that the Eagles had the consistent problem. And the
- 13:45Speaker 1: one play that rookie style blew up, Saquon, I mean
- 13:49Speaker 1: blew him up, But you shocked at the way Washington
- 13:53Speaker 1: kept bringing the heat on Jalen Hurts?

- 15:42Speaker 4: As I've gotten older, I've really tried to concentrate on
- 15:45Speaker 4: my physical health, my body, making sure I'm putting the
- 15:48Speaker 4: right things in and the healthiest things in. I've always
- 15:51Speaker 4: heard about creatine. but I wasn't really sure about using
- 15:55Speaker 4: creatine supplements until I did the research to find out
- 15:58Speaker 4: what it was really all about. That's when I found Momentous,

- 17:13Speaker 2: No, because the game counts. That wasn't preseason. So since
- 17:17Speaker 2: the game counts, I'm going to pull out all the stops.
- 17:20Speaker 2: And I just go to show we're a far better
- 17:21Speaker 2: team than they are because they gave everything in the
- 17:24Speaker 2: kitchen sink to beat us, and they couldn't. We weren't healthy,
- 17:27Speaker 2: and they still didn't beat us. We got a new
- 17:30Speaker 2: offensive coordinator like they had a new offensive coordinator. You know,
- 17:33Speaker 2: they had a defensive coordinator. But, I mean, this is,
- 17:35Speaker 2: you know, they did what they needed to do to
- 17:38Speaker 2: try to make the game as competitive as they could.
- 17:40Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 17:41Speaker 2: You know, especially with their offensive line.
- 17:43Speaker 3: And their offensive line played well also.
- 17:44Speaker 2: But they were able to take advantage and end-game coaching
- 17:50Speaker 2: do a great job of stopping the run game by
- 17:56Speaker 2: doing something as simple as sending the linebackers through the gaps.
- 18:00Speaker 3: They see a gap open up, just run straight through.
- 18:02Speaker 2: And the Eagles off of the line are still learning
- 18:04Speaker 2: how to run this track blocking that they used. See,
- 18:07Speaker 2: track blocking is where you're blocking an area. You're blocking
- 18:11Speaker 2: a space as opposed to blocking somebody that's there. Well,
- 18:14Speaker 2: if nobody's there, you keep going out. Well, you keep
- 18:18Speaker 2: going out and that linebacker comes through and you've gone
- 18:20Speaker 2: out too far and you can't get back, that's hard.
- 18:23Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? That takes a level of
- 18:27Speaker 2: understanding that they aren't at right now. They don't know
- 18:30Speaker 2: how to do it. So, I mean, that's what it was, man.
- 18:34Speaker 2: It was more so they need to be taught how
- 18:37Speaker 2: to do the scheme a little bit. They need to
- 18:39Speaker 2: be coached on the finer parts of running that zone-blocking concept.
- 18:44Speaker 3: And once they do learn it, I mean, it could
- 18:45Speaker 3: be great.
- 18:46Speaker 2: So that's why I say I wasn't as mad at
- 18:48Speaker 2: the fact that They didn't run the balls consistently because
- 18:51Speaker 2: you can't open up the offense without doing it because
- 18:53Speaker 2: you got to run play action.
- 18:54Speaker 3: You got to do stuff like that. We weren't able
- 18:55Speaker 3: to do it because we didn't run it consistently.
- 18:57Speaker 2: But I saw some things that even with us not
- 19:02Speaker 2: running it right because we didn't know how to run
- 19:04Speaker 2: it right.
- 19:04Speaker 3: We still don't have the hang of it.
- 19:06Speaker 2: There was still some good plays in there to give
- 19:10Speaker 2: hope in that situation.
- 19:12Speaker 1: You were talking about Jalen a little bit earlier and
- 19:15Speaker 1: he was running for his life most of the day.
- 19:17Speaker 1: But When he had to, he stood tall and made
- 19:20Speaker 1: some big plays with his legs and his feet. You know,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you know, they were talking about how they're going to
- 19:25Speaker 1: have more design running plays.
- 19:27Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:28Speaker 1: In this case, though, he was running for his life
- 19:30Speaker 1: out of necessity. When things weren't open, he didn't hesitate
- 19:33Speaker 1: to take off. And he had a big run there
- 19:35Speaker 1: for what, 18 yards. You know, that really kept the
- 19:38Speaker 1: momentum in their favor in a lot of ways. He
- 19:41Speaker 1: threw the ball away when he had to, made some
- 19:43Speaker 1: nice throws at the Octavian Wicks, and that throw he
- 19:46Speaker 1: made to Devontae Smith on the sideline right over the shoulder,
- 19:49Speaker 1: a thing of beauty. You know, again, let me reiterate,
- 19:53Speaker 1: playing for as many different coordinators as this man has
- 19:56Speaker 1: played for in his NFL tenure, and the man is
- 19:59Speaker 1: a winner. Basically, plain and simple, he is a winner.
- 20:02Speaker 1: His winning percentage in a regular season is 750. He's
- 20:06Speaker 1: been to two Super Bowls. He won a Super Bowl.
- 20:09Speaker 1: He was a Super Bowl MVP. What else do you
- 20:12Speaker 1: want for him? Now, people say I'm a Jalen hater,
- 20:14Speaker 1: and I don't care what people say because... I've gone
- 20:17Speaker 1: on the record applauding this man's efforts when it's warranted.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And I've also critiqued him on the other side when
- 20:22Speaker 1: it's warranted as well. But I am a fan of
- 20:25Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts. Your thoughts on what he's able to do.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And again, limited reps coming into a game, the first
- 20:31Speaker 1: game of the season against a hated divisional foe, bullets
- 20:34Speaker 1: flying for real. And he had pedestrian numbers, but they
- 20:38Speaker 1: were efficient numbers.
- 20:42Speaker 2: If you'd have told me and you gave me a
- 20:45Speaker 2: stat line of 202 yards passing, 47 yards rushing, three
- 20:53Speaker 2: thrown touchdowns. I'd have took that all day and twice
- 20:57Speaker 2: on Sunday. I'd have took those numbers and said, we
- 20:59Speaker 2: won the game. And we won the game. We were
- 21:04Speaker 2: imperfect in running the offense effectively. And he still had
- 21:08Speaker 2: those type of numbers. He still got a beautiful deep ball.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Sean Mayhew, is getting used to calling plays, and the
- 21:19Speaker 2: repertoires that he's going to open up and give are
- 21:22Speaker 2: going to be amazing also. So I was positive in
- 21:26Speaker 2: how Jalen just effectively ran the offense. He knew where
- 21:30Speaker 2: the ball was supposed to go. He got the ball
- 21:34Speaker 2: where it was supposed to go. When he was back
- 21:37Speaker 2: there and it was a decision to run, it wasn't
- 21:40Speaker 2: a hesitation.
- 21:41Speaker 3: He took the decision when it got the first downs.
- 21:44Speaker 3: He wasn't running phonetically out there just to run around.
- 21:47Speaker 2: And one of the big things, and a pet peeve
- 21:49Speaker 2: of mine, when he did get pressure and he did
- 21:52Speaker 2: to run to the sideline, he threw the ball and
- 21:55Speaker 2: he didn't get the sack.
- 21:57Speaker 3: He threw the ball.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Down the field, threw it out of bounds to avoid
- 22:01Speaker 2: negative yardage.
- 22:02Speaker 3: So to me, he learned a lot from last year,
- 22:05Speaker 3: number one.
- 22:06Speaker 2: He learned the offense from Sean Mannion, and those two
- 22:08Speaker 2: are teaming up, and they're going to get more and
- 22:11Speaker 2: more combined in this offense.
- 22:12Speaker 3: This offense is great for him, and I.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Think he felt comfortable in his day one introduction to
- 22:18Speaker 2: run at full speed in real conditions. I think he said, yeah,
- 22:22Speaker 2: I can do this, and it's only going to get
- 22:24Speaker 2: better as he goes. So, yeah, this is going to
- 22:26Speaker 2: be very, very good. It's going to be very effective. So, man,
- 22:30Speaker 2: keep going. I just can't wait, man. So I think
- 22:33Speaker 2: Jalen did a great job of executing the offense, making
- 22:37Speaker 2: great decisions, getting the ball out of his hands when
- 22:40Speaker 2: he had to, hitting his receivers when they were open,
- 22:44Speaker 2: getting guys to the line, getting them, you know, making sure,
- 22:46Speaker 2: you know, because they only had one time where they
- 22:48Speaker 2: made a, you know, it was a play where, you know,
- 22:50Speaker 2: the big long play to win.
- 22:53Speaker 3: And, you know, they didn't get the ball out.
- 22:54Speaker 2: But, see, that happens a lot anyways because when you
- 22:56Speaker 2: throw the ball that far down the field.
- 22:58Speaker 3: The offensive line has to get down. You know, everybody's
- 23:00Speaker 3: got to get down. They've got to get set. He's
- 23:02Speaker 3: got to get the play in, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:04Speaker 2: And the play clock starts going as soon as the ball,
- 23:06Speaker 2: you know, so he's got to go farther distance.
- 23:08Speaker 3: So that kind of happens sometimes.
- 23:10Speaker 2: But now Jalen showed his displeasure in it, and they're
- 23:12Speaker 2: going to make sure they get the ball to him
- 23:14Speaker 2: more timely next time.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Are you surprised still at this stage of his career?
- 23:18Speaker 1: And you heard me a moment ago highlight, you know,
- 23:21Speaker 1: his career as a professional quarterback and the accomplishments that
- 23:24Speaker 1: he's had, something that a lot of quarterbacks in the
- 23:27Speaker 1: National Football League for the duration of their careers never
- 23:30Speaker 1: get to achieve. Are you surprised still that there's so
- 23:33Speaker 1: much indifference towards Jalen, not just locally, but also the
- 23:37Speaker 1: national pundits as well? You know, another quarterback could have
- 23:40Speaker 1: a similar day like Jalen and say, oh, he just
- 23:42Speaker 1: had an off day. But when it comes to Jalen,
- 23:45Speaker 1: he's critiqued differently than most quarterbacks. And for the life
- 23:48Speaker 1: of me, I've never been able to figure out why.
- 23:50Speaker 1: He has never said anything negatively or controversial to get
- 23:54Speaker 1: himself in trouble. You don't see him out in public
- 23:56Speaker 1: doing things he shouldn't do. If anything, he doesn't give you,
- 24:00Speaker 1: when he talks to the media, he doesn't give you
- 24:02Speaker 1: a whole lot you can gravitate towards and hold on to.
- 24:05Speaker 1: All he does is simply go about his business and
- 24:07Speaker 1: finds a way to win more times than not. And yet,
- 24:10Speaker 1: it's still not good enough for a lot of people
- 24:12Speaker 1: out there And I don't think I've ever seen a
- 24:15Speaker 1: situation like this where a quarterback is critiqued in the
- 24:18Speaker 1: manner in which he is week in and week out.
- 24:21Speaker 2: D-Gun, you're absolutely right, man. And I don't get it either.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Look at his numbers. He's not that far from the
- 24:32Speaker 2: best quarterbacks in the league. And the biggest number is
- 24:36Speaker 2: his winner percentage. The fact he's been to two Super Bowls,
- 24:39Speaker 2: won one. Super Bowl MVP. He should have been a
- 24:42Speaker 2: Super Bowl MVP in the last one that he lost.
- 24:45Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, he lost the game. He's
- 24:51Speaker 2: always going to get some negative stuff simply because he
- 24:54Speaker 2: was second round pick that they drafted because they're a
- 24:57Speaker 2: quarterback factory.
- 24:58Speaker 3: They had already paid a quarterback.
- 25:02Speaker 2: And, you know, and He just doesn't fit the conventional
- 25:06Speaker 2: wisdom on what you want as a starting quarterback. And
- 25:09Speaker 2: I'm not talking about a black quarterback. I'm talking about
- 25:11Speaker 2: a starting quarterback. He doesn't have the running speed of
- 25:19Speaker 2: somebody like, you know, Baltimore's, what's his name?
- 25:24Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness. Lamar Jackson. Yeah.
- 25:27Speaker 2: He doesn't have the speed of Jackson. He doesn't have
- 25:31Speaker 2: the arm of Jackson, but yet. He wins more than Jackson.
- 25:36Speaker 2: You go to Buffalo, the same thing. Numbers are almost identical.
- 25:42Speaker 2: He just goes about winning differently, but he wins. You
- 25:46Speaker 2: go anywhere. Now, we're not going to say Patrick Mahomes.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes is a freak of nature, you know. But
- 25:51Speaker 2: at the end of the day, he's still up there
- 25:55Speaker 2: in winning percentage like, you know, Patty Mahomes. So he
- 25:59Speaker 2: just doesn't do it the conventional way, and they got
- 26:02Speaker 2: to find something wrong, and they just can't. He's not
- 26:04Speaker 2: going to give you, like you said, off-the-field trouble, and
- 26:07Speaker 2: he's not going to give you anything to say when
- 26:10Speaker 2: he's in a press conference.
- 26:11Speaker 3: So how else can they hate on him? By just saying,
- 26:16Speaker 3: we're just going to.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Think he's an average quarterback once the roster doesn't make
- 26:19Speaker 2: them good.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I'm not trying to hear all that. Those other guys
- 26:22Speaker 3: got great rosters also.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:24Speaker 3: But he does it consistently consistently. But he just doesn't
- 26:28Speaker 3: do it like everybody else does it.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Right, right. You look at this running game, B. Brooks,
- 26:33Speaker 1: and as a team they ran for $ 1. 36. Saquon, 83 yards.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Of course, he broke one off of 42 yards. But
- 26:42Speaker 1: we saw a lot of what we saw last year,
- 26:44Speaker 1: him getting hit at the line of scrimmage or getting
- 26:45Speaker 1: hit in the backfield when he touched the ball. Can
- 26:48Speaker 1: we expect to see that all season long again? Because
- 26:51Speaker 1: we knew early on in the season in 2025, teams
- 26:54Speaker 1: were making a concerted effort to take Saquon out of
- 26:56Speaker 1: the equation. And, man, he took a beating in a
- 26:59Speaker 1: lot of ways. He still had, you know, what, almost 1,200
- 27:01Speaker 1: yards rushing. But he took a beating in 2025. And
- 27:04Speaker 1: it appears it's going to be the case again in 2026. So...
- 27:10Speaker 1: I think it's going– it was a balanced game on Sunday. What,
- 27:13Speaker 1: 25 pass, 25 run? Balanced attack. I think if this continues, though,
- 27:18Speaker 1: you're going to force this Eagles team to put the
- 27:20Speaker 1: ball up in the air a lot more.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I think that.
- 27:25Speaker 2: With the new offense and how they're going to call
- 27:28Speaker 2: the run plays, I think that it's going to be
- 27:30Speaker 2: totally different than what the NFL is used to seeing.
- 27:36Speaker 2: They will have checks and balances.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Which will help them out and get that running game going.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Like I said, they got a few things they got to,
- 27:44Speaker 2: you know, tweak here and there. They may have to
- 27:47Speaker 2: tighten up their points on the offensive line of getting
- 27:53Speaker 2: to that, you know, because they tried to get outside,
- 27:56Speaker 2: so they had wider.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Steps to get to where they needed to go.
- 28:01Speaker 2: So they need to tighten that up a little bit,
- 28:03Speaker 2: you know, how they run, and then that way they don't,
- 28:06Speaker 2: If they do bring a linebacker, there'll be somebody there
- 28:08Speaker 2: to pick that linebacker up. And once you get a
- 28:10Speaker 2: block on a block and you bring that linebacker, what's
- 28:13Speaker 2: after that linebacker?
- 28:15Speaker 3: The safety.
- 28:16Speaker 2: So you get a hat on a hat and you
- 28:19Speaker 2: get Saquon one-on-one with a safety. So it'll be a
- 28:24Speaker 2: lot different on what you see next Sunday than what
- 28:27Speaker 2: you saw this Sunday.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 2: They'll tighten up their advantage points of where they're supposed
- 28:33Speaker 2: to be at.
- 28:34Speaker 3: They'll see where they're supposed to go.
- 28:35Speaker 2: They'll read things more effectively, and then they'll take care
- 28:39Speaker 2: of that.
- 28:40Speaker 3: But, man, you can start running the linebackers up like
- 28:42Speaker 3: you want to.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah, keep running the linebackers up, and they'll see big
- 28:46Speaker 2: plays from everywhere because you're trying to stop them. You're
- 28:49Speaker 2: trying to break it up. So that's how you break
- 28:52Speaker 2: up zone running plays with penetration. Penetration kills all run plays.
- 28:57Speaker 2: So if you're trying to stop a team from running
- 28:59Speaker 2: the zone, you've got to get penetration up the field.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Make the runner back slow his feet down.
- 29:05Speaker 2: They're not going to be able to do that because
- 29:06Speaker 2: once they tighten up the marks, the landmarks are where
- 29:08Speaker 2: their heads are supposed to go. And the landmarks are
- 29:10Speaker 2: seeing the linebackers come through and they get the linebackers.
- 29:13Speaker 2: And now nobody's in Saquon's face because they got the
- 29:16Speaker 2: linebacker that was in the backfield this time.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Now there's nobody at.
- 29:19Speaker 2: That second level. So then he's getting to the third level.
- 29:24Speaker 2: And that's when things start happening. You know, even teams
- 29:26Speaker 2: will start running stunts like E.T. stunts in the middle. And, man,
- 29:31Speaker 2: you mess around and cut off one of those guys
- 29:32Speaker 2: that is supposed to be in one gap. You cut
- 29:34Speaker 2: him off from being in that gap. And that means
- 29:36Speaker 2: you have two guys in one gap. And he's one-on-one
- 29:39Speaker 2: with the linebacker. Bro, these goals are going to start
- 29:43Speaker 2: opening up so much. So they got off. They did
- 29:47Speaker 2: their thing this last game. And they showed them what
- 29:49Speaker 2: they need to work on. But the same thing make
- 29:51Speaker 2: you laugh, make you cry. You want to send linebackers
- 29:54Speaker 2: and stop the run? Go ahead and send linebackers and
- 29:56Speaker 2: stop the run.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Not only do.
- 29:58Speaker 2: You, you know, lessen your chance of really getting Saquon
- 30:03Speaker 2: with a linebacker in the second level, you're going to
- 30:05Speaker 2: have a whole second level over them. But then when
- 30:07Speaker 2: they start running play action, you send that linebacker. Who's
- 30:11Speaker 2: going to be in that void that you just sent
- 30:12Speaker 2: that linebacker? Now you got a Dallas Goddard roaming in
- 30:15Speaker 2: the middle of that defense. You got, you know, I
- 30:18Speaker 2: know they tried to force Lemon to be that guy,
- 30:20Speaker 2: but now you got Smitty.
- 30:22Speaker 3: You got your wicks.
- 30:23Speaker 2: You got all these guys in the middle of that
- 30:25Speaker 2: defense with no linebacker to cover them.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Then you have to bring a safety down to cover
- 30:29Speaker 3: the safety. Man, you can't cover.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Everybody when you do that. So you just take one
- 30:34Speaker 2: more guy. You're taking these guys out of coverage. Who's
- 30:37Speaker 2: going to take their spaces? So it's going to open
- 30:39Speaker 2: up the offense immensely. So this will be one of
- 30:44Speaker 2: those opportunities that like, all right, you guys got your
- 30:47Speaker 2: shot off.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Wait, just wait. The rest of the league will be
- 30:51Speaker 3: on notice after this. They'll be on notice.
- 30:55Speaker 1: You were mentioning Dallas Goddard, and what a game he
- 30:57Speaker 1: had to come out of the gates in 2026. A
- 31:00Speaker 1: couple of touchdowns, 77 yards receiving. And here's a guy,
- 31:05Speaker 1: it appears on the outside looking in, that the Eagles
- 31:08Speaker 1: have done everything they could possibly do to try to
- 31:10Speaker 1: get rid of this guy over the last couple of years.
- 31:12Speaker 1: And all he does is keep producing. And I tell
- 31:15Speaker 1: you what, he got a little bit more speed in
- 31:17Speaker 1: this stage of his career than I thought he had.
- 31:20Speaker 1: when he broke that one for the touchdown, you know,
- 31:22Speaker 1: but you know, he's a warrior. He's becoming the accomplished block.
- 31:26Speaker 1: He's a complete tight end. He's, he's an accomplished blocker. Now,
- 31:29Speaker 1: obviously he wasn't that when he came into the league,
- 31:31Speaker 1: but he is now shorthanded catcher. And he's basically the
- 31:35Speaker 1: safety valve. And let's face it in this offense, which
- 31:38Speaker 1: is a direct derivative of what green Bay ran. The
- 31:42Speaker 1: tight end is an integral part of this offense. And
- 31:44Speaker 1: we got to see that in this particular game against Washington.
- 31:49Speaker 1: You know, tight ends are always the quarterback's best friend,
- 31:51Speaker 1: number one. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:53Speaker 2: They're a big target. Number two, that's the easiest pass
- 31:56Speaker 2: to get to him. And number three, he's just like,
- 32:00Speaker 2: I'm going to start calling Jalen Hurts Linus. And if
- 32:05Speaker 2: you ain't seen Peanuts or Charlie Brown, he's Linus. Always
- 32:08Speaker 2: has his blanket. Well, yes, Goddard is his safety blanket.
- 32:12Speaker 2: He needs that guy. And they have a.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Lot of camaraderie together. They, you know, they vibe.
- 32:19Speaker 2: And, you know, he's going to look for Goddard. You know,
- 32:21Speaker 2: Goddard's going to be one of his main targets because,
- 32:23Speaker 2: number one, he's got production. Number two, he's playing.
- 32:26Speaker 1: At an elite level.
- 32:28Speaker 2: You know, not many guys, you know, have, you know,
- 32:30Speaker 2: 14 touchdowns in the last, you know, season and one game,
- 32:34Speaker 2: you know, including the playoffs. You know, I mean, so
- 32:38Speaker 2: he's a threat. And I think, you know, more and
- 32:40Speaker 2: more teams are going to have to account for him,
- 32:42Speaker 2: which means now you can't bracket Smithy. Hmm. And once
- 32:47Speaker 2: you don't bracket Smitty, now he's going to take advantage
- 32:50Speaker 2: of guys. And you bracket Smitty, which opened up Wicks.
- 32:53Speaker 2: And Wicks had a great game. I mean, everything goes
- 32:56Speaker 2: hand in hand, man. So you can't stop them all.
- 32:59Speaker 2: And once we get used to running this offense full speed,
- 33:01Speaker 2: you're going to see it all.
- 33:03Speaker 1: You know, Devontae Smith only had three catches. And obviously,
- 33:07Speaker 1: Washington made a concerted effort to take him out of
- 33:09Speaker 1: the game. But I love what he said after the
- 33:11Speaker 1: game about it. He said he told Dontavion Wicks, you
- 33:13Speaker 1: got to pick it up. You got to take over.
- 33:15Speaker 1: They're going to try to take me out. You got
- 33:16Speaker 1: to take it over. We're not used to hearing that
- 33:18Speaker 1: because there was a number one receiver a year ago.
- 33:20Speaker 1: If he didn't get the ball, he would send you
- 33:23Speaker 1: cryptic messages, whether through social media or in very limited
- 33:30Speaker 1: conversations he would have. with the media, but I love
- 33:33Speaker 1: his demeanor in terms of, look, if they're going to
- 33:35Speaker 1: take me away, somebody else has got to step up,
- 33:38Speaker 1: and that's what this offense is about in the passing game.
- 33:40Speaker 1: You don't have a definitive number one. If you look
- 33:43Speaker 1: how they ran this offense in Green Bay, you don't
- 33:45Speaker 1: have the so-called definitive thousand-yard receivers. You had four or
- 33:48Speaker 1: five guys catching five, six, seven hundred yards worth of receiving. Now,
- 33:52Speaker 1: Devontae's Overall, numbers may suffer if this offense plays it
- 33:57Speaker 1: out the way I think it's going to play it out.
- 33:59Speaker 1: But it's also going to give him an opportunity to
- 34:02Speaker 1: be more of a big play receiver because if other
- 34:06Speaker 1: guys start stepping up and do what they're supposed to
- 34:08Speaker 1: do and all of a sudden they get the numbers,
- 34:10Speaker 1: then you're going to have a defense that's going to
- 34:12Speaker 1: start shying away from Devontae, trying to shade over and
- 34:15Speaker 1: cheat to help out on another side. Boom, there he
- 34:18Speaker 1: is right there getting the ball. But I love his demeanor.
- 34:20Speaker 1: It's not about me. It's always about we.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Not selfish. Unselfish guy, man. You know what I'm saying?
- 34:27Speaker 2: And usually I'll say that about receivers. Receivers are one
- 34:30Speaker 2: of the most selfless positions in the league. They're definitely
- 34:33Speaker 2: not selfless. But you got a guy who just wants
- 34:35Speaker 2: to win. And I think that comes from a Nick
- 34:37Speaker 2: Saban-led team where it's all about the team.
- 34:40Speaker 3: It's all about winning. And that's what he's all about.
- 34:42Speaker 3: He wants to win.
- 34:43Speaker 2: So you understand, they're going to run cloud coverage. Cloud
- 34:46Speaker 2: coverage is when you have two deep safeties. And whenever
- 34:49Speaker 2: you have a guy like, you know, Smitty right there,
- 34:53Speaker 2: They're going to cloud him. They're going to bring, make
- 34:55Speaker 2: sure there's a safety over the top of him, and
- 34:57Speaker 2: maybe a linebacker and a cornerback to really, you know,
- 35:00Speaker 2: high-low him.
- 35:01Speaker 3: They're always going to double cover him.
- 35:02Speaker 2: They're always going to put him in a position where
- 35:04Speaker 2: he's never going to be by himself.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:07Speaker 2: When you put him by himself, look what happens. Just
- 35:10Speaker 2: like when they motioned over, and he got that big
- 35:12Speaker 2: play with the toe tap. That's all by design, and
- 35:16Speaker 2: they designed it to help Smitty get open from that
- 35:20Speaker 2: cloud coverage.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Manny said, all right, this is what I'm going to do.
- 35:24Speaker 2: We're going to go, and they're going to go man-to-man,
- 35:26Speaker 2: and I'm going to run this play. And guess who
- 35:27Speaker 2: they had over?
- 35:28Speaker 3: Rasul Douglas.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Rasul Douglas, yeah.
- 35:31Speaker 2: He was never really fast when he was here. Now
- 35:33Speaker 2: he's into his ninth or tenth year. He's definitely never
- 35:37Speaker 2: gotten any faster. So that's one-on-one with a guy that,
- 35:41Speaker 2: you know, they could take advantage of. So they took
- 35:43Speaker 2: advantage of Rasul, you know. I mean, even though Rasul
- 35:45Speaker 2: has played well. You know, he played well yesterday.
- 35:48Speaker 3: He made some plays yesterday, but they took advantage of
- 35:50Speaker 3: that matchup knowing that he can't cover Smitty. And that's why,
- 35:54Speaker 3: you know, boom, catch.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Toe tap.
- 35:56Speaker 3: And we know Jalen throws some of the prettiest deep
- 35:58Speaker 3: balls in the league.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 3: This team will be ready, man. And a lot of
- 36:04Speaker 3: people say I got green colored glasses.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Yes, I do.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I got green colored glasses. Not rose, but green colored glasses.
- 36:11Speaker 2: But that's only because I see what I see. I
- 36:13Speaker 2: break down what I break down. I watched the film again.
- 36:17Speaker 2: I saw the negative plays. I diagnosed the negative plays.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I took why the negative plays worked and what they
- 36:23Speaker 2: need to work on. So I'm going to see next
- 36:25Speaker 2: week when I diagnose the plays, see if they cross
- 36:28Speaker 2: that inefficiency out. See if they cross this inefficiency out.
- 36:32Speaker 2: See if they work on this right here. Did they
- 36:34Speaker 2: go back to the things they do well? I mean,
- 36:36Speaker 2: I'm going to break down.
- 36:39Speaker 3: This is a book. You know, this is my dissertation
- 36:41Speaker 3: that I'm writing. You know what I'm saying? So at
- 36:43Speaker 3: the end of the season, I'll get my doctorate. You
- 36:45Speaker 3: know what I'm saying? I'm going to keep writing and
- 36:47Speaker 3: keep writing and breaking it down.
- 36:49Speaker 2: And as I see things going, I'm going to give
- 36:51Speaker 2: you viewers, you know, a taste of what I saw.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I'm going to give you a little bit of what
- 36:55Speaker 2: I'm trying to do. So, you know, this is what
- 36:57Speaker 2: football is all about. I just love the fact that
- 37:00Speaker 2: I've seen the potential and I've been in that offense before.
- 37:02Speaker 2: I've seen the potential of what it can do and
- 37:04Speaker 2: how it can help. So, yes, you know, I'm going
- 37:07Speaker 2: to look that way. It's not like this roster is bad.
- 37:10Speaker 2: This is a great roster.
- 37:11Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? We just don't have a
- 37:13Speaker 3: lot of depth.
- 37:14Speaker 2: But you'll see Drew Kendall come in.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Drew Kendall will definitely play.
- 37:17Speaker 2: And we also got that little wrestling fireball, you know,
- 37:21Speaker 2: saying that, you know, ready to play also, you.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Know, Willie Lampkin.
- 37:24Speaker 1: So it will be okay.
- 37:29Speaker 2: 5'11, 290.
- 37:29Speaker 3: But he's a– man, he's a fireball, man. He's a player.
- 37:34Speaker 3: He's a player.
- 37:35Speaker 1: All right, let's go over to the other side of
- 37:37Speaker 1: the ball. And I want to single out two players
- 37:39Speaker 1: in particular. I'm going to start with Zach Bond because
- 37:42Speaker 1: I thought– Overall, Zach Vaughn was the MVP of the
- 37:45Speaker 1: defense on Sunday. The man had 12 tackles. He had
- 37:49Speaker 1: seven solo tackles. He was all over the field, man.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Stuffing running plays, knocking down passes, defending pass plays. Zach
- 37:57Speaker 1: Vaughn is worth every dollar that the Philadelphia Eagles are
- 38:01Speaker 1: paying that man.
- 38:05Speaker 2: It's almost like we're spoiled because we go into the
- 38:08Speaker 2: offseason– Then we turn around, we go into fall camp,
- 38:14Speaker 2: and he's just doing his thing.
- 38:17Speaker 3: He's not saying anything to anybody.
- 38:19Speaker 2: We're not paying attention to him because we're spoiled in
- 38:22Speaker 2: the aspect that once those lights come on, 53 going
- 38:26Speaker 2: to be there. We're just used to that. We know
- 38:31Speaker 2: that 53 going to show up. We know that Zach
- 38:33Speaker 2: Bond's going to make some pivotal plays, and we ain't
- 38:37Speaker 2: got to worry about it. And that's us being spoiled
- 38:40Speaker 2: because we know we got something special in him. But, man,
- 38:43Speaker 2: I'll tell you what. He just diagnosed it. I mean,
- 38:45Speaker 2: it was that third and three. I think it was
- 38:46Speaker 2: third and three or maybe third and one. And he
- 38:49Speaker 2: shot the gap. They ran inside zone to the open side,
- 38:53Speaker 2: you know, to the guard to tackle. And they had
- 38:55Speaker 2: everybody else on the other side. And he had to
- 38:57Speaker 2: stay backside with Will Backers. So he stays backside, reads
- 39:01Speaker 2: his keys. As soon as he sees the opener, pow,
- 39:04Speaker 2: he darted into the hole, hits the running back. And
- 39:06Speaker 2: by that time when he hits him, Everybody else comes
- 39:09Speaker 2: and gangs tackle.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Boom. Fourth and one. Fourth and one. Let's get off
- 39:14Speaker 3: the field.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Go ahead and punt.
- 39:15Speaker 2: You know, we're just used to that. That is man
- 39:18Speaker 2: on man. You know, they're coming out. They're on like
- 39:21Speaker 2: the 20-something yard line. They're coming out. And he's got
- 39:25Speaker 2: the running back man to man. Running backs have a
- 39:27Speaker 2: pretty good game against. He's got a man to man.
- 39:30Speaker 2: on a screen play where they try to sneak the
- 39:32Speaker 2: guard out. And, you know, the running back kind.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Of bows out.
- 39:37Speaker 2: And as he's bowing out, he's got him man-to-man. And
- 39:40Speaker 2: the guard knows he has to get the mugger. We
- 39:42Speaker 2: call the mugger is the man-to-man guy.
- 39:44Speaker 3: So he's the mugger. So Zach Bond's the mugger. He's
- 39:47Speaker 3: got to get out and get him.
- 39:49Speaker 2: He reads the play, sees he has a man, he
- 39:51Speaker 2: outflanks the guard, gets the field, bam, tackle for loss.
- 39:55Speaker 3: We're just used to that. We're used to seeing it,
- 39:57Speaker 3: so we're spoiled, man. I love that kid, man. He
- 40:00Speaker 3: can ball. He can ball, man.
- 40:01Speaker 2: I know they are pissed off with the Saints that
- 40:04Speaker 2: they let that guy leave their locker room.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Your guy, Jomo, man, he's overshadowed by Davis and Carter,
- 40:15Speaker 1: but he is really coming to his own None bigger
- 40:18Speaker 1: than now he deciphered that shovel pass for the two-point
- 40:20Speaker 1: conversion and blew that play up. You know, he's going
- 40:24Speaker 1: to get his money eventually. You know, his time is coming. But, man,
- 40:27Speaker 1: can you talk about how you've watched him develop over
- 40:30Speaker 1: the last year or so and become a dominant force
- 40:33Speaker 1: in the trenches?
- 40:35Speaker 2: His penetration that he gets up the field is phenomenal.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Like I say, how do you kill a run play?
- 40:43Speaker 2: Get penetration. Make the running back stop their feet. He
- 40:46Speaker 2: gets up the field so quick, and he's so exposed
- 40:48Speaker 2: to getting up the field. And we already know on
- 40:51Speaker 2: pass plays, he can do.
- 40:52Speaker 3: The same thing. Well, I sat back and how he
- 40:57Speaker 3: did it.
- 40:57Speaker 2: He got up the field, he hit his guy, but
- 40:59Speaker 2: then he saw the guard pull, and he followed him.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Came around it, and he saw that tight end, bam,
- 41:06Speaker 2: made the play. Any other time I've been like, you know, hey,
- 41:09Speaker 2: Coach Bowe, the new officer coordinator. Yeah, David Blau, yeah.
- 41:15Speaker 3: David Bly, why would he run that play?
- 41:17Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 41:18Speaker 2: We could have ran that play with Dallas Goddard, and
- 41:21Speaker 2: it would have probably worked.
- 41:23Speaker 3: But he's trying something new. You know, he's trying to
- 41:27Speaker 3: see what works, what doesn't work.
- 41:28Speaker 1: That didn't work.
- 41:29Speaker 2: But I love the fact that we were ready to play.
- 41:32Speaker 2: They could have won the game. You know, they did
- 41:34Speaker 2: a great, fantastic job of just blowing that play up, man.
- 41:37Speaker 2: And that just goes to show how the team is.
- 41:40Speaker 2: They're on their P's and Q's, man.
- 41:42Speaker 3: They're ready, man.
- 41:43Speaker 1: You know, they.
- 41:44Speaker 2: They see things, and then you're going to see the
- 41:46Speaker 2: maturation of that defense start handling their business also.
- 41:49Speaker 3: You know, we got three great quarters, even though Coop.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Coop. Oh, my goodness. Sometimes I'll win, Coop.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Sometimes I'll win.
- 41:57Speaker 3: It's time to stop.
- 41:58Speaker 1: He got abused a little bit in this game. Yeah,
- 42:01Speaker 1: he got abused. You know what? But you know what?
- 42:04Speaker 1: I will say this.
- 42:05Speaker 4: Hey, I'm somebody who likes to work out. I get
- 42:07Speaker 4: to the gym at least three times a week. I
- 42:10Speaker 4: try to focus on certain muscle groups, my arms, my legs.
- 42:13Speaker 4: And it used to be really frustrating for me to
- 42:16Speaker 4: find jeans that fit someone like myself who likes to
- 42:19Speaker 4: work out. Sometimes those jeans can be awkward and tight
- 42:23Speaker 4: and you're sitting in a chair and you're constantly pulling at.
- 42:26Speaker 5: Your jeans, trying to get them to fit you.
- 42:28Speaker 4: Sometimes it feels like you have to buy jeans that
- 42:31Speaker 4: make you choose between your waist or your thighs.
- 42:34Speaker 5: But thankfully I found the perfect jean.
- 42:37Speaker 4: It's different from all other jean companies out there.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Especially for guys with athletic builds.
- 42:42Speaker 4: They actually let me move like a normal human being.
- 42:45Speaker 4: I can bend down and tie my shoes. I can
- 42:47Speaker 4: squat to pick up something without feeling restricted. I can
- 42:50Speaker 4: actually do a full squat, you know, bending down to
- 42:53Speaker 4: pick something up without feeling like I'm about to blow
- 42:56Speaker 4: a scene.
- 42:57Speaker 5: You know, the old standard jean sizing, it wasn't designed
- 42:59Speaker 5: to fit guys.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Who squat or deadlift, play sports, or just do anything
- 43:03Speaker 4: that actually builds your legs. But the perfect jean is
- 43:07Speaker 4: designed for just that, for guys like me.
- 43:10Speaker 5: Perfect Gene has six fits. It includes the athletic fit,
- 43:13Speaker 5: the slim, the thick.

- 45:24Speaker 1: Covering Stephon Diggs is not an easy assignment for anybody,
- 45:27Speaker 1: you know. Or Williams. Or Williams, you know. And so
- 45:30Speaker 1: that kid Williams can flat out play too, that rookie
- 45:32Speaker 1: that got there.
- 45:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:33Speaker 1: You know. But I wonder how much he misses his
- 45:38Speaker 1: safety blanket. You talk about Linus, you know, being in
- 45:40Speaker 1: the safety blanket. I wonder how much he misses blanket,
- 45:43Speaker 1: blanking ship, you know. Yep. You know, obviously. Blank, blank. Yeah. But, yeah, Coop, Coop, hey, Coop,
- 45:50Speaker 1: summer's over, man. Time to ball, bro. You know, you
- 45:53Speaker 1: got a lot of accolades for being that slot guy, dude.
- 45:56Speaker 1: And you know what? You got exposed a little bit
- 45:58Speaker 1: in this game. But, you know, obviously, there's still 16
- 46:01Speaker 1: games to get better, man. And we know you're going
- 46:02Speaker 1: to get it done. But, man, that was a little
- 46:04Speaker 1: rough for him in that game.
- 46:05Speaker 2: And I'm glad he got it done early and we
- 46:07Speaker 2: still won the game. I'm glad because I know he's
- 46:10Speaker 2: going to come back. He's going to evaluate the film.
- 46:12Speaker 2: And he knows he can't play like that. He can't continue.
- 46:14Speaker 2: But they need him too much. And– you know, sometimes,
- 46:18Speaker 2: you know, you, you feeling yourself a little bit, you
- 46:20Speaker 2: get out there and all of.
- 46:21Speaker 3: A sudden the NFL will bring you back down to
- 46:23Speaker 3: your place.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:24Speaker 2: You know, they'll show you how human you are and, and,
- 46:28Speaker 2: and not saying he hadn't worked hard. He probably has
- 46:31Speaker 2: worked hard. You know, in fact, what I saw, he
- 46:32Speaker 2: had worked hard. It's just, sometimes you, you just, you
- 46:36Speaker 2: need that kick in the ass. That's what it, you
- 46:38Speaker 2: need that kick in the ass to get you going,
- 46:40Speaker 2: get you motivated, get you ready to go out there
- 46:42Speaker 2: and ball. And he had his early, he had his,
- 46:45Speaker 2: the first game. And, I doubt seriously you see him
- 46:47Speaker 2: work like that again, you know. He just wasn't technically sound. And,
- 46:51Speaker 2: you know, he'll get back to what he needed to
- 46:52Speaker 2: do to be that pro bowler that he's been the
- 46:55Speaker 2: last couple years.
- 46:56Speaker 1: I got to give the back end of that defense
- 46:58Speaker 1: a lot of credit, though, because, man, they did a
- 47:01Speaker 1: yeoman's job on Terry McLaurin. I mean, Terry McLaurin has,
- 47:04Speaker 1: you know, been an Eagles killer for many years.
- 47:07Speaker 3: He's on kryptonite, wasn't he?
- 47:09Speaker 1: Oh, my goodness, man.
- 47:10Speaker 3: He's on kryptonite, yeah.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Hey, look, man, Terry McLaurin, He was in the witness
- 47:13Speaker 1: protection program Sunday because you didn't even hear from him
- 47:16Speaker 1: until the fourth quarter. He only ended up with two
- 47:18Speaker 1: catches for 14 yards. But, you know, historically, he's one
- 47:22Speaker 1: of only four Washington Redskins to ever go over 1,000
- 47:25Speaker 1: yards career-wise against the Philadelphia Eagles defense. But, man, you know,
- 47:29Speaker 1: Quinion Mitchell shot him down. They put him in the
- 47:33Speaker 1: dirt all day long. And, you know, that's where it
- 47:35Speaker 1: starts because he's been the biggest threat against the Eagles
- 47:38Speaker 1: for years. And, Ben, I can't say enough about what
- 47:41Speaker 1: they did in terms of taking him out of that game.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Well, Quinion Mitchell took his lunch money. Give me that
- 47:47Speaker 3: lunch money.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Give me that lunch money. You know, and Quinion said, look,
- 47:52Speaker 2: I'm not playing.
- 47:54Speaker 3: I came to work. You know what I'm saying?
- 47:56Speaker 2: Like, you could tell his focus this entire offseason, his
- 48:01Speaker 2: focus in camp, his focus going into this game. He
- 48:04Speaker 2: ain't got no time. He ain't playing with nobody. He
- 48:07Speaker 2: ready to ball. He know he about to get paid.
- 48:10Speaker 2: He going to make sure you're going to get your
- 48:12Speaker 2: money's worth. You know what I'm saying? And even going
- 48:14Speaker 2: from him, I think Davis had a great game also.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Davis balled out.
- 48:20Speaker 2: And the big fella up front, Carter, it was clash
- 48:25Speaker 2: of the types. Cosme is a really good guard. He's
- 48:31Speaker 2: a first-round draft choice out of Texas. I wanted to
- 48:34Speaker 2: draft him here. They did the right thing, put him
- 48:37Speaker 2: at guard. His arms were a little too short to
- 48:39Speaker 2: play tackle. They drafted him to tackle. They moved him
- 48:41Speaker 2: to guard. He's been Very effective. Man, it was one-on-one battles,
- 48:46Speaker 2: him and Carter.
- 48:46Speaker 3: They were going at it, you know what I'm saying?
- 48:48Speaker 3: And that's what you want to watch, football, you know?
- 48:50Speaker 2: It's not like, you know, Carter took any plays off
- 48:53Speaker 2: or anything. Carter was balling, too. It was tit for tat.
- 48:56Speaker 2: I beat you this play, you beat me that play.
- 48:58Speaker 2: They went back and forth. That was great football. That's
- 49:01Speaker 2: must-see TV. I just took, I went back and watched
- 49:04Speaker 2: the film over just to watch them two. Watch them
- 49:07Speaker 2: fight and battle, you know, all day. So, man, that
- 49:09Speaker 2: was a great, that was a great battle.
- 49:12Speaker 3: I know right now that Carter's a little mad.
- 49:14Speaker 2: He's a little pissed off that he didn't go off
- 49:16Speaker 2: like he wanted to. But that's good.
- 49:19Speaker 3: That's good.
- 49:20Speaker 2: But it wasn't like he wasn't getting his butt kicked
- 49:22Speaker 2: or anything. It was just two really good players battling
- 49:26Speaker 2: the entire day.
- 49:28Speaker 1: That defense, though, in the fourth quarter did look a
- 49:30Speaker 1: little gassed. And when you spend a whole game chasing
- 49:33Speaker 1: Jayden Daniels around, man, you know, that's a heck of
- 49:36Speaker 1: an assignment because the Eagles were getting good pressure on him.
- 49:40Speaker 1: But every time you thought they were about to get
- 49:42Speaker 1: him down, I mean, they officially got him down one time.
- 49:44Speaker 1: But he will step up, step to the outside, step
- 49:47Speaker 1: to the middle, take off and run. You know, that's
- 49:50Speaker 1: a lot to ask, man. When that kid's healthy, he's
- 49:53Speaker 1: like Houdini, man. And you can tell that defense was
- 49:56Speaker 1: a little gassed. And I'm going to attribute it to
- 49:58Speaker 1: You know, first game of the season, adrenaline's pumping. You know,
- 50:01Speaker 1: it was hot, high humidity in this game. It's not
- 50:04Speaker 1: an excuse. It's a fact of what it was. But
- 50:07Speaker 1: you can tell that defense at times was getting a
- 50:09Speaker 1: little winded there in that fourth quarter. That's what I'm saying.
- 50:11Speaker 2: The offense has got to do their part to be
- 50:13Speaker 2: three and outs in the second half. So when they
- 50:15Speaker 2: do that, and then they start running the rock on
- 50:18Speaker 2: them too, that's hard because when you run the rock,
- 50:20Speaker 2: it takes a little long for them to get back up.
- 50:23Speaker 2: You know, from getting chop blocked, you know, linebackers get
- 50:26Speaker 2: back up. So, They were effective in.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Running the rock.
- 50:29Speaker 1: I will say this.
- 50:31Speaker 2: The reason why, and I'm not making an excuse, but
- 50:34Speaker 2: you got to know who you're rushing to. And you're
- 50:36Speaker 2: rushing a guy that's great at, you know, going out
- 50:41Speaker 2: there and evading guys and picking up crucial yardage and
- 50:45Speaker 2: playing frenetically outside the pocket. He's a great guy at
- 50:48Speaker 2: doing that. So, you know, you got to treat Den
- 50:51Speaker 2: Daniels as a guy that, you know, you have to
- 50:54Speaker 2: rush him a different way.
- 50:55Speaker 3: Now, I'm glad that our defensive.
- 50:59Speaker 2: Ends played the way they played. And everybody's like, oh,
- 51:01Speaker 2: they didn't have any sacks. It wasn't a sack game.
- 51:04Speaker 2: You had to be selfless in this game when you
- 51:06Speaker 2: were a defensive end in this game. You had to
- 51:08Speaker 2: stay in your rush lane. You couldn't rush around him
- 51:11Speaker 2: because he'd go up underneath that and run for big yardage.
- 51:15Speaker 2: You had to rush him through the tackles. That means
- 51:18Speaker 2: you had to engage the tackles and drive him into
- 51:22Speaker 2: the Jaden Daniels. So you're not trying to take a side.
- 51:25Speaker 2: You take a side, he's going to make you feel
- 51:27Speaker 2: bad because he's going to be able to get out
- 51:28Speaker 2: and evade you to the other side.
- 51:30Speaker 3: You've got to drive him through. And they had to
- 51:32Speaker 3: push the pocket.
- 51:33Speaker 2: We call it mush rushing, but I think they did
- 51:35Speaker 2: a phenomenal job of just... you know, corralling him and
- 51:39Speaker 2: keeping him in. He got away a couple of times,
- 51:41Speaker 2: you know, but, you know, everybody's human and he sometimes
- 51:44Speaker 2: is unhuman the way he played and the way he
- 51:46Speaker 2: was juking guys and spinning and everything else. But that's
- 51:49Speaker 2: what he could have done if they would have rushed
- 51:52Speaker 2: the conventional way and just try to go get theirs.
- 51:54Speaker 3: You can't do that. You got to collapse the pocket.
- 51:57Speaker 2: You got to rush through the tackle to the the quarterback,
- 52:01Speaker 2: and I think they did a great job of that.
- 52:02Speaker 2: So everybody's like, oh, Jada Hunt. He was still, him
- 52:05Speaker 2: and both him, Nolan and Hunt were this close to
- 52:09Speaker 2: getting sacks, but they didn't get out their rush lane.
- 52:13Speaker 2: So you got to get them guys, you know, you
- 52:14Speaker 2: got to, and I'm going to make sure that I
- 52:16Speaker 2: tell everybody when I talk about this, that yes, they
- 52:19Speaker 2: did rush the pass the way we're supposed to.
- 52:22Speaker 3: You had to stay in your lane. You couldn't go
- 52:24Speaker 3: out there and play hero.
- 52:25Speaker 2: And as soon as you try to play hero ball,
- 52:27Speaker 2: you'll make him the hero because he can get out
- 52:29Speaker 2: there and run.
- 52:30Speaker 3: Here he is.
- 52:31Speaker 2: You work your butt off on first, second down, and
- 52:34Speaker 2: you get the third down, and you want to go
- 52:35Speaker 2: be the hero. And all of a sudden, he makes
- 52:37Speaker 2: you feel bad, look bad because you brush outside.
- 52:40Speaker 3: He runs up on a Niki for a first down.
- 52:42Speaker 3: So everybody's work. You know what I'm saying?
- 52:44Speaker 2: The other 10 guys on that field did everything they
- 52:46Speaker 2: were supposed to do, but you didn't do what you
- 52:48Speaker 2: were supposed to do.
- 52:49Speaker 3: So I love the fact that Hunt did it. Epiketty
- 52:52Speaker 3: did it. Epineza did it.
- 52:54Speaker 2: All those guys rushed through the tackles to him, which
- 52:58Speaker 2: allowed them to then keep him ground and make him
- 53:01Speaker 2: beat them from the pocket.
- 53:03Speaker 3: And he couldn't beat them from the pocket because we
- 53:04Speaker 3: ended up winning.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Were you surprised, though, at the success Washington was having
- 53:09Speaker 1: in a running game? Not to the outside, but they
- 53:13Speaker 1: were picking them four, five, six, eight yards in the
- 53:15Speaker 1: middle of their defense. And I was surprised that for
- 53:18Speaker 1: four quarters, now the Eagles defense did stand tall at
- 53:21Speaker 1: times when it had to, but Washington had 132 yards rushing,
- 53:25Speaker 1: and they were getting the bulk of their yards between
- 53:27Speaker 1: the tackles.
- 53:28Speaker 2: I was surprised at that, but once I watched the film,
- 53:31Speaker 2: like I said, watched the film, filmed the film, just
- 53:33Speaker 2: kept watching the film, I saw that they were a
- 53:36Speaker 2: play away from making a big play.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Okay.
- 53:38Speaker 3: And sometimes... you know, Campbell would run under a block
- 53:43Speaker 3: instead of over a block.
- 53:45Speaker 2: He'd run in the same gap as the tackle was,
- 53:48Speaker 2: or the tackle would take a gap, and he's not
- 53:50Speaker 2: supposed to take a gap.
- 53:51Speaker 3: And he's trying to, you know, undercut it, and he's
- 53:54Speaker 3: supposed to stay out of his gap.
- 53:56Speaker 2: It was just one little thing that kept them from
- 53:59Speaker 2: keeping it bottled up, and that's what it was. You know,
- 54:04Speaker 2: it wasn't like there was anything glaring of, you know,
- 54:06Speaker 2: anybody getting their ass kicked or anything like that.
- 54:08Speaker 3: It wasn't anything like that.
- 54:10Speaker 2: It was more so an assignment bust, gap integrity, those
- 54:14Speaker 2: little things that kept them from being a dominant run
- 54:18Speaker 2: play for the entirety of the game.
- 54:20Speaker 3: First half, they balled out.
- 54:23Speaker 1: They kept them.
- 54:23Speaker 3: They balled out.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Second half, with the offense going three and out and
- 54:28Speaker 2: guys trying to get off the field, sometimes they would.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Undercut blocks and try to run around plays.
- 54:33Speaker 2: You can't do that with an offensive line that they're
- 54:35Speaker 2: trying to run it just so they can keep from
- 54:37Speaker 2: passing it.
- 54:38Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 54:38Speaker 2: So, you know, they'll clean up their mistakes. They'll clean
- 54:42Speaker 2: up their mistakes. They won't be running through the same gap.
- 54:44Speaker 2: They won't be trying to jump gaps. They won't be
- 54:46Speaker 2: doing that stuff. You know, they're going to make sure
- 54:50Speaker 2: that they stay focused. And we know, you know, Vic
- 54:53Speaker 2: Fangio is going to have guys on the right page.
- 54:55Speaker 2: He's going to look at them. He's going to cuss
- 54:57Speaker 2: them out. This film study. And they'll see what they
- 55:01Speaker 2: did wrong. And they'll fix what they did wrong. And
- 55:03Speaker 2: they'll play a more solid defense than they did. They're
- 55:06Speaker 2: going to play the Titans. They better blow the Titans
- 55:09Speaker 2: out because when you got a Jets team that blew
- 55:12Speaker 2: out the Titans, you better blow them out. And I'm
- 55:14Speaker 2: not accepting anything like we just had. We're just barely winning. No,
- 55:18Speaker 2: we need to blow the Titans out.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Now, if the Eagles were giving out game balls, and
- 55:24Speaker 1: they do, teams give out game balls for a win.
- 55:27Speaker 1: If there's one guy who deserved a game ball, it
- 55:29Speaker 1: was Braden Mann. The dude there was 51 yards a punt. Man,
- 55:33Speaker 1: let me tell you something. He had that one punt, what,
- 55:35Speaker 1: with 64 yards? And the way he kept pinning Washington
- 55:39Speaker 1: deep in their own territory, oh, my goodness. Nobody deserves
- 55:43Speaker 1: a game ball more so than that man.
- 55:45Speaker 2: So why is it that when I'm doing my post-game
- 55:47Speaker 2: show and I say Braidman is my MVP, everybody looks
- 55:51Speaker 2: at me crazy?
- 55:52Speaker 3: I keep telling people he was my MVP last year.
- 55:54Speaker 1: Because you are crazy. You are a little crazy. So what?
- 55:57Speaker 1: I know.
- 55:57Speaker 3: But still, Braidman is one of the best players on
- 56:00Speaker 3: the team.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Period.
- 56:02Speaker 3: I keep telling people that. Braidman is a baller. He
- 56:05Speaker 3: should be a pro bowler. Last year, he averaged 49
- 56:10Speaker 3: yards a punt.
- 56:12Speaker 2: 49.
- 56:13Speaker 3: It should have been 50 because it was 49.5. 49.5.
- 56:19Speaker 1: He was.
- 56:19Speaker 2: 5 away from averaging 50 yards a punt. And he
- 56:24Speaker 2: all the time pinned those guys down and made them
- 56:28Speaker 2: do the entirety of the field. He wants you to
- 56:30Speaker 2: go the long way on the field. Brady Mann's my MVP.
- 56:34Speaker 2: That's my guy. Say what you want to say. That's
- 56:37Speaker 2: my guy.
- 56:38Speaker 1: And the way he worked the sidelines on some of
- 56:40Speaker 1: his punts, too, you know, putting it down to the six,
- 56:42Speaker 1: the nine-yard line. I'm like, man, this dude, I don't think,
- 56:46Speaker 1: you know, I think he's like an unsung hero. But
- 56:47Speaker 1: then again, how many punters get a lot of accolades
- 56:50Speaker 1: in a national football league? None.
- 56:52Speaker 3: And they shouldn't.
- 56:52Speaker 2: No, whatsoever. And they shouldn't. All the time, kickers and punters,
- 56:57Speaker 2: do your job. We don't want to know your name.
- 57:00Speaker 2: We don't know what number you are. We don't care
- 57:03Speaker 2: to talk to you. We just want you to do
- 57:05Speaker 2: your job. And that's what they do. They go do
- 57:07Speaker 2: their job.
- 57:09Speaker 1: Now, up next for the Eagles, as you mentioned, is
- 57:12Speaker 1: the Tennessee Titans. This is a team that's in a
- 57:14Speaker 1: rebuilding stage. They don't have a third of the talent
- 57:19Speaker 1: on that team that the Eagles do. But what they
- 57:21Speaker 1: do have is Robert Sala, who's one of the best
- 57:24Speaker 1: defensive minds in the game. So I expect Robert Sala
- 57:28Speaker 1: to try to emulate a lot of what Washington did
- 57:33Speaker 1: in terms of you know, blitzing gaps coming off edges,
- 57:36Speaker 1: coming off different angles, exotic looks in the trenches, so
- 57:40Speaker 1: on and so forth. Yeah. But the good thing is
- 57:44Speaker 1: Tennessee's offense can't score yet.
- 57:46Speaker 2: So that defense is crazy because they got the best
- 57:49Speaker 2: offensive minds in the league.
- 57:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:52Speaker 1: But they don't have, they don't have the personnel yet.
- 57:54Speaker 1: They have a few, they have the quarterback in the future,
- 57:57Speaker 1: but they still don't have the offensive personnel yet. You know,
- 58:00Speaker 1: And with that said, they only scored 10 points against
- 58:03Speaker 1: the Jets. Are you kidding me? And the Jets put
- 58:06Speaker 1: up 23? Jets put up 23? If the Eagles don't
- 58:11Speaker 1: score at least 30 in this game, and of course
- 58:13Speaker 1: we know the Eagles' offense is nowhere near what we
- 58:16Speaker 1: expect it to be, but if the Jets score 23,
- 58:18Speaker 1: the Eagles better put up 30 in this game.
- 58:20Speaker 4: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 58:25Speaker 4: long lines, we've all been there. But when it comes
- 58:28Speaker 4: to your cannabis... Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 58:32Speaker 4: the dispensary for sports fans. Just minutes outside of Philly
- 58:37Speaker 4: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast.
- 58:40Speaker 4: No hassle, no waiting. And they don't just care about convenience.
- 58:44Speaker 4: Camden Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their staff
- 58:49Speaker 4: makes sure you feel taken care of every time you
- 58:52Speaker 4: walk in. Plus, they carry only the best quality cannabis
- 58:56Speaker 4: at the fairest price. So whether you're stocking up for
- 58:59Speaker 4: the tailgate, the watch party, or celebrating a big win,
- 59:03Speaker 4: you know you're getting the good stuff without overpaying. They
- 59:07Speaker 4: even show love to the community with sponsors. Bro, they
- 59:00Speaker 4: got the big receiver, Cornell Tate, from Ohio State in
- 59:02Speaker 4: their first round.
- 59:29Speaker 3: They got Wendell Robinson. He's a carryover from the New
- 59:33Speaker 3: York Giants.
- 59:34Speaker 1: From the Giants, yeah.
- 59:35Speaker 2: They got Calvin Ridley. He's pretty good. Started his career.
- 59:38Speaker 1: How old is Ridley now?
- 59:41Speaker 3: Let me see. Let me see. He got drafted in 18.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 59:46Speaker 3: 31 years old.
- 59:47Speaker 1: 31 years old. Which is considered old for a wide receiver,
- 59:53Speaker 1: you know. Yes, yes.
- 59:55Speaker 3: Around Jacksonville.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he may have a little gas in
- 59:58Speaker 1: the tank, but still, you know. I mean, his players
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: and the team are still evolving offensively. Yes, yes. You know,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: they're not an offensive juggernaut, you know. So that's why
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: I said the Eagles should be able to cruise in
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: this game. Build a lead, let your defense pin back
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: its ears, and cruise to the finish line and start
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: the season off 2-0.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: They better.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: They better.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: They better come to win and not play a round.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: I want to see Lane to be able to go
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: sit down and have some Gatorade by the third, fourth quarter.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: That's what I need to see, man. You just got
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: to understand, you can't let teams play around. You can't
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: give teams hope. Everybody out there is an NFL player.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: I tell people all the time, an NFL player goes
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: against an average Joe, it's still an NFL player. Even
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: the worst NFL player in the league can ball. When
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: you let them hang around They'll stick around.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: And end up beating you. So they got to make it,
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: you know, they got to kill them softly but fast. B.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Brooks, always a pleasure chopping it up, talking football with you. And,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: of course, Barrett Brooks and I will be here each
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: and every week after an Eagles game to talk about
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: what the Eagles do, the pluses, and hopefully very few minuses.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: You know, Barrett, I expect you to be here unless
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: you go off on some exotic fishing trips like you
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: like to do and things like that. Leave me hanging.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Have to find somebody else to fill in until you
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: decide to come back. But I'm looking forward to it, man.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: It's been a long time since we had a chance
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: to just sit and chat football, and I'm looking forward
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: to doing it with you each and every week, my man.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: I can't believe, man, you let me still talk to you, man.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? You don't like to talk
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: to me. I text you. Why are you texting me, man?
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: I mean, come on.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Stop lying.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: Because I love you, bro.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: I only talk to you because my wife makes me
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: talk to you. Hey, look, man. Thanks, Chris. Appreciate it. Hey,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: this has been the first installment of the 2026 Birds Weekly.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: It is presented by the Inside the Birds Network. For
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: my man, one of my favorite people, and I call
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: him a brother because that's the way I see him,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: is family. And my wife made me say that also.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: But he's family to the Gunn family. So until next
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: week after the Eagles do business against the Tennessee Titans,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: for Barrett Brooks, I'm Derrick Gunn. So long, everybody.
