- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench. We have to Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The plays get broken down and science gets denied to
- 0:08Speaker 1: come off the bitch. Hour two of Off the Bench,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Kine Studio.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Welcome in our number two here on a Friday edition
- 0:29Speaker 3: of Off the Bench, A Taylor show up here with
- 0:31Speaker 3: the Elandavella, Rial, Braxton, Rosuto. Those asease while they look
- 0:36Speaker 3: like ours to me, that was a hectic first hour.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I mean I told you during the break, I was like, Braxton,
- 0:42Speaker 3: I applaud you because you're the only, like none everyday
- 0:47Speaker 3: member of the show and you've screwed up the least
- 0:50Speaker 3: between the three of us. So I shout out to you, ma'am.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We uh had a great time. I enjoyed the long
- 0:56Speaker 3: commercial break. Actually it was fun. I mean we sat there,
- 0:58Speaker 3: we were laughing about it. Wanted to talk about in
- 1:00Speaker 3: that segment. We just combined too, No big deal. We
- 1:04Speaker 3: made it work. You got to watch some SpongeBob like
- 1:06Speaker 3: I Honestly, that was a good first hour, guys. That
- 1:08Speaker 3: was That was a That was a Friday first hour
- 1:11Speaker 3: if we've ever had one. Okay, a little bit more
- 1:15Speaker 3: sportsy here in the second hour, do you want to
- 1:19Speaker 3: talk a little LSU football? Do you want to talk
- 1:20Speaker 3: some Saint's? LSU gymnastics coach Jay Clark will be with
- 1:24Speaker 3: us at eight thirty, and then the nine o'clock hour,
- 1:27Speaker 3: We're we're pretty busy there. Ralse Jackson'll be with us
- 1:30Speaker 3: at nine o'clock, nine to thirty. Former LSU pitcher Doug
- 1:33Speaker 3: Thompson will join us. I gotta get his thoughts of
- 1:36Speaker 3: what he saw on the opening weekend, what he expects
- 1:38Speaker 3: to see this weekend in Jacksonville, And of course we'll
- 1:41Speaker 3: close everything out like we do with ask the bench
- 1:45Speaker 3: right now. Though Paul fine Bomb was going get Up
- 1:50Speaker 3: earlier this week. Now, you guys know how I feel
- 1:53Speaker 3: about Paul fine Bomb. Typically, I would never bring up
- 1:56Speaker 3: anything Paul fine Bomb had to say. Only if I
- 2:00Speaker 3: was anonymously calling into his show would I ever interact
- 2:02Speaker 3: with him in the all likelihood. But he was asked
- 2:06Speaker 3: on Get Up and their college football segment of who
- 2:09Speaker 3: won the offseason, and fine Bom said, Lane Kiffen, how
- 2:13Speaker 3: many times do I need to say that he dominated
- 2:16Speaker 3: the end of the season with his move and then
- 2:18Speaker 3: he managed the college football chaos look at what he
- 2:21Speaker 3: brought in in the portal. He said he made major
- 2:24Speaker 3: acquisitions there. But I think even with a difficult schedule,
- 2:30Speaker 3: LSU is a college football playoff team. I mean, I
- 2:34Speaker 3: gotta tell you, I never agreed with anything. Paul Finebaum
- 2:37Speaker 3: says he nailed this one. Lane Kiffin did win the offseason.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Lank Kiffin won the off season before he has ever
- 2:48Speaker 3: won a game here. Because you have to admire what
- 2:52Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin's done. Whether you're the biggest Lane Kiffin fan
- 2:55Speaker 3: in the world or whether you were at aim In
- 2:57Speaker 3: Lee against him coming to this program, you gotta meyer
- 3:00Speaker 3: what he's done. There was so much chaos surrounding his
- 3:04Speaker 3: decision to leave Ole Miss, so many attacks on him.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Everybody in college football painted Lane Kiffin as this villain,
- 3:10Speaker 3: even though other coaches have done this multiple times. He
- 3:16Speaker 3: didn't care. He came in, he went to work. I mean,
- 3:21Speaker 3: everybody you know talked about, Oh, Lane Kffin's gonna be
- 3:23Speaker 3: so great for the media. I see anything really spoke
- 3:25Speaker 3: to the media, and I'm I'm I prefer it that way,
- 3:28Speaker 3: even as a member of the media, like we hear
- 3:30Speaker 3: want Lane Kiffen to go out and add transfer portal
- 3:33Speaker 3: players and retain your coaching staff and retaining key players
- 3:35Speaker 3: from a year ago.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And that's exactly what he did.
- 3:37Speaker 3: I mean, Lane Kiffin had his opening press conference and
- 3:41Speaker 3: you didn't really hear from him again until two weeks
- 3:43Speaker 3: ago when he was recapping his signing class.
- 3:47Speaker 2: That's it. So all this chaos surrounding his decision.
- 3:52Speaker 3: To move to Baton Rouge and leave poor little old
- 3:55Speaker 3: old Miss, everybody made a spectacle out of this. You know,
- 4:00Speaker 3: you're the only person that did not make a spectacle
- 4:02Speaker 3: out of this coaching change situation.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Was it was Lane Kiffin.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin's not in the national media pushing this on
- 4:08Speaker 3: TV every single day. Lane Kiffin's not one of these
- 4:10Speaker 3: unhinged old Miss fans who seemed to can't understand the
- 4:13Speaker 3: fact that, uh, Lane Kiffin left you to go to
- 4:17Speaker 3: the prom with the prettier girl. That's exactly what happened.
- 4:19Speaker 3: If you're an old Miss fan and you can't wrap
- 4:21Speaker 3: your head around that Lane coming to Baton Ridge, ignoring
- 4:26Speaker 3: all that outside noise coming in, putting his head down
- 4:29Speaker 3: and getting to work, That's exactly what you wanted as
- 4:35Speaker 3: an LSU fan, because if you look at the end,
- 4:37Speaker 3: of the Brian Kelly era and all the rumors and
- 4:40Speaker 3: news and reports that came out around Brian Kelly maybe
- 4:42Speaker 3: not having the best work ethic. Lane Kiffin seems to
- 4:47Speaker 3: be the complete opposite. Lane Kiffen seems to be somebody
- 4:51Speaker 3: who's like, hey, I came here to win. I know
- 4:53Speaker 3: there's massive expectations around me. I don't want to let
- 4:56Speaker 3: myself down. I don't want to let the people of
- 4:58Speaker 3: Baton rouge you down. I don't want to let LSU down.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna come in, I'm gonna work my butt off,
- 5:02Speaker 3: and I'm gonna symbable what could very well be the
- 5:05Speaker 3: best transfer a portal class of all time. You brought
- 5:08Speaker 3: in forty two guys. Find me a position did LSU
- 5:13Speaker 3: needed that LSU did not address in the offseason. Everybody
- 5:17Speaker 3: was waiting on offensive line. You got multiple guys who
- 5:19Speaker 3: I think are plug and play. I mean, Jordan Steeden's
- 5:21Speaker 3: is gonna start on this team. I talked about it
- 5:23Speaker 3: a little bit the other day with Aliu Bah kind
- 5:26Speaker 3: of an under the radar guy, but started twenty four
- 5:28Speaker 3: consecutive games at Maryland at guard. He's a plug and
- 5:31Speaker 3: play guy, can play either guard, spot. You were able
- 5:35Speaker 3: to retain Brayland Moore, You're able to retain Weston Davis,
- 5:37Speaker 3: whatever that means to you. Trey Dez is back, like
- 5:41Speaker 3: you didn't lose any major player in the portal by
- 5:46Speaker 3: and large. I mean we've talked about Carrius Kerrent. I
- 5:48Speaker 3: think Kyle Parker's actually a pretty big loss.
- 5:51Speaker 2: To me.
- 5:51Speaker 3: That one's gonna hurt more than Kerrn, just because I
- 5:53Speaker 3: Thinkyle Parker's gonna be great next year to Ohio State
- 5:56Speaker 3: next to Jeremiah Smith, with Julian saying throwing him to the football.
- 5:59Speaker 3: But again, whether you're the biggest fan of Lane Kiffin
- 6:04Speaker 3: in the world or whether you despise the guy and
- 6:08Speaker 3: thought LSU should have looked elsewhere, you have to admire
- 6:12Speaker 3: what he's done, Like hand up. If you had asked me,
- 6:16Speaker 3: like if I would have been the athletic director and
- 6:17Speaker 3: you'd have said, Taylor, who you're going to hire? I
- 6:20Speaker 3: probably would have hired Knny dialing him one. I didn't
- 6:23Speaker 3: know how gettable Lane was too. I didn't know how
- 6:25Speaker 3: long you were gonna have to wait. I wasn't sure
- 6:27Speaker 3: if Lane Kivin was going to pull that trigger before
- 6:29Speaker 3: the early signing period he wound up doing it wound
- 6:32Speaker 3: up working out perfectly. My thought was always if you
- 6:36Speaker 3: can get Kiffin, yeah go get him. Don't put all
- 6:37Speaker 3: your eggs in that one. Bask have a backup plan.
- 6:41Speaker 3: But you know what, it is worked out as good
- 6:44Speaker 3: as anybody could imagine, way better than I could have
- 6:46Speaker 3: imagined at this point. So shout out Lane kivin everything
- 6:50Speaker 3: he has done in the off season, everything I believe
- 6:52Speaker 3: that he will continue to.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Do in the off season as well. Want to stick
- 6:59Speaker 2: with LSU.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I kind of switching topics here before we take this
- 7:02Speaker 3: first break. Folks over at LSU Wire put out an
- 7:07Speaker 3: article of why this LSU football player can be an
- 7:10Speaker 3: All American in twenty twenty six, and the guy they
- 7:14Speaker 3: mentioned is DeShawn Spears. I think this is a great choice.
- 7:20Speaker 3: I think DeShawn Spears has all the potential in the world.
- 7:24Speaker 3: He's not a household name in the SEC YEP, but
- 7:26Speaker 3: he could be. They mentioned his PFF grade. Spears graded
- 7:30Speaker 3: out at ninety point one on PFF that was top
- 7:33Speaker 3: five in all of college football among safeties, a ninety
- 7:37Speaker 3: point three in coverage that was fourth in all of
- 7:40Speaker 3: college football. He was the second highest rated defensive player
- 7:43Speaker 3: on LSU's team last year, behind only Mansword Delane, who's
- 7:46Speaker 3: about to be a top fifteen pick in all likelihood.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I love the versatility that he could bring to this defense.
- 7:55Speaker 3: He's six foot three, he's around two hundred and fifteen pounds.
- 7:58Speaker 2: You get him up to two.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You could slide him in there at the nickel or
- 8:03Speaker 3: the star position that our guy Matt Flynn loved so much.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Haryl Perkins was around sixty three to two hundred and
- 8:08Speaker 3: twenty pounds, and I actually thought he did a pretty
- 8:09Speaker 3: good job for the most part at that star position.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I've been highled on this guy's as he stepped fot
- 8:15Speaker 3: on campus. Look, he's from my neck of the woods.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I'm born and raising Walker, Louisiana, and I still live
- 8:19Speaker 3: there to this day. He's right, he's a stone star
- 8:21Speaker 3: down the road in Denham Springs. So I was a
- 8:24Speaker 3: little bit biased, But I also saw the guy play
- 8:25Speaker 3: a lot in New York. Goodie could be and you
- 8:29Speaker 3: saw the flashes a year ago. Again, he wasn't an
- 8:31Speaker 3: everyday starter in the secondary now, he said, behind aj
- 8:34Speaker 3: Hawsey and Tamarcus Cooley, which no shame in that both
- 8:37Speaker 3: are those guys were stud for you a year ago.
- 8:40Speaker 3: But on the season last year, twenty nine tackles, three
- 8:44Speaker 3: tackles were lost, two interceptions. Both of those interceptions came
- 8:47Speaker 3: in that Florida game. One of them he took fifty
- 8:49Speaker 3: nine yards back to the house for a pick six.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I think he's losing with potential, which is why I
- 8:58Speaker 3: love the Tide benefit signing out of the transfer portal
- 9:02Speaker 3: so much. Anytime somebody asked me, favorite transfer portal addition
- 9:06Speaker 3: outside of the obvious, so you had to get your
- 9:08Speaker 3: quarterback and you had to get the offensive line, favorite
- 9:11Speaker 3: player might be Tid Benifield because of the versatility he's
- 9:13Speaker 3: going to bring to this defense. Bennfields a three year
- 9:17Speaker 3: starter at Boise State. Last year one hundred and seven tackles,
- 9:22Speaker 3: eight and a half tackles for a lost, two interceptions.
- 9:25Speaker 3: He can play at the line of scrimmage. He can
- 9:28Speaker 3: drop back deep and kind of be that center field
- 9:30Speaker 3: or at the back of your defense. The year before that,
- 9:34Speaker 3: eighty two tackles, five tackles for a loss, again, two interceptions.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Tid Benifield can do a little bit of everything. Tamarcus
- 9:40Speaker 3: Cooley's going to start in safety on this team. I
- 9:43Speaker 3: don't think there's any question about it. I thought he
- 9:44Speaker 3: was really good a year ago. Who's going to be
- 9:48Speaker 3: that guy next to him? All of a sudden, you
- 9:50Speaker 3: have a lot of options, And honestly, whoever's not the
- 9:52Speaker 3: starting safety next to Tamarcus Cooley's probably going to slide
- 9:55Speaker 3: down there into that star role. I would like it
- 9:58Speaker 3: to be Deshaun Spears because of the again, six foot three,
- 10:02Speaker 3: can he get up to two hundred and twenty pounds,
- 10:04Speaker 3: You're gonna have options there. I think Bennifield would be
- 10:06Speaker 3: great there. Even though Bennfield's a little bit on the
- 10:08Speaker 3: smaller size. He's hovering around six foot but he's physical
- 10:11Speaker 3: enough to do it. We saw it at Boise State
- 10:15Speaker 3: Cjjim Coyly. He didn't get a ton of reps in game,
- 10:18Speaker 3: but he repped the star position a lot during fall
- 10:21Speaker 3: camp a year ago. They're in the media viewing portion
- 10:24Speaker 3: of those fall practices. We got to go out there.
- 10:27Speaker 3: He was kind of the number two star at times
- 10:29Speaker 3: behind Harold Perkins. Got a lot of reps there. He's
- 10:32Speaker 3: a big bodied guy. He could play safety, linebacker, star
- 10:35Speaker 3: wherever you need him. But the talent of a Deshaun
- 10:38Speaker 3: Spears perrying that with a tie Benifield. Those guys are
- 10:41Speaker 3: basically interchangeable.
- 10:42Speaker 2: At this point.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I think the sky's the limit for this team. I
- 10:48Speaker 3: mean I mentioned, you know the potential of a Deshaun Spears.
- 10:52Speaker 3: People forget he was SEC Defensive Player of the Week
- 10:56Speaker 3: after that game against Florida, and he was Bronco Negirsky
- 11:01Speaker 3: National Defensive Player of the Week as well.
- 11:03Speaker 2: That was the two interception game. He was incredible.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Now he had the privilege of playing against a DJ Lagway,
- 11:09Speaker 3: who I don't think is a very good quarterback. Unl
- 11:12Speaker 3: you picked him off five times that game and probably
- 11:14Speaker 3: could have had another one in there somewhere. But he
- 11:18Speaker 3: was awesome in every opportunity he got. And yes, people
- 11:22Speaker 3: want to point out like when I mentioned he was
- 11:24Speaker 3: his second highest rated player on your defense, Well he
- 11:27Speaker 3: wasn't at every downstarter guys, he played over two hundred
- 11:29Speaker 3: snaps on this defensive year ago. That's enough of a
- 11:32Speaker 3: sample size. And think about the other players on that defense.
- 11:38Speaker 3: DJ Pikett was really good. AJ Halsey was awesome, so
- 11:42Speaker 3: Marcus Cooley was great. He greted higher than all three
- 11:44Speaker 3: of those guys that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to
- 11:48Speaker 3: translate into a big time role, and just because he
- 11:50Speaker 3: was great at high a year ago means he's going
- 11:52Speaker 3: to be an All American. But I think the potential's there.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I think the talent's there, and I think he's gonna
- 11:57Speaker 3: have every opportunity to make a big impact on this defense,
- 12:01Speaker 3: whether it's at star, whether it's at safety. I'm excited
- 12:03Speaker 3: to see what tomarcut school he can do next year
- 12:06Speaker 3: one Blake Baker's defense.
- 12:07Speaker 2: All right, we'll take a quick time out when we
- 12:09Speaker 2: get back.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Rals Jackson put out an interesting article on Louisianasports dot
- 12:13Speaker 3: that about the possibility of Teddy Bridgewater actually returning to
- 12:18Speaker 3: the New Orleans Saints. I'll give you my thoughts on
- 12:19Speaker 3: that next. You're on off the bench.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Off the bench. Uh.

- 14:52Speaker 4: I'm a.
- 14:56Speaker 6: What that was?
- 14:59Speaker 2: Welcome back? Ye here Friday attorney? That was Gordon Guy.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I knew I was gonna say I'm attorney, but I
- 15:05Speaker 2: couldn't remember. Okay, shut out, Gordon, what's up?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Man?
- 15:09Speaker 2: Get Gordon right?
- 15:10Speaker 5: Speaking of Will Helmer's part of the G team is
- 15:14Speaker 5: gonna come on next Monday.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Talk a little baseball.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Shout out to Will Helmers. Man I remember when they
- 15:21Speaker 3: had to start him at third base that one game. Actually,
- 15:24Speaker 3: you know what, that might have been my first baseball
- 15:26Speaker 3: game working for RELASHU because it was Manary's last year.
- 15:30Speaker 3: And I think that's right, Like I always remember, like
- 15:35Speaker 3: I started working on I moved from Talk to ESPN
- 15:38Speaker 3: Oars rounds last year. I started working over at LSU
- 15:42Speaker 3: Minaris last year. It always kind of lined up that way.
- 15:45Speaker 3: But yeah, you had to start at third base. He
- 15:47Speaker 3: had the rough out, and you know, people wanted to
- 15:49Speaker 3: wanted to crucify the dude, and like he's playing third base.
- 15:52Speaker 3: He was too good of a picture. And then I
- 15:55Speaker 3: mean he was a great pitcher for Relashue for a
- 15:57Speaker 3: number of years. Shout out Will Helmers. He'll be year.
- 16:02Speaker 3: He'll be here Monday.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Right He'll tell you that straight up too. He'll be
- 16:06Speaker 2: here Monday.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Yeah, he'll be here Monday.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Right now.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I want to talk a little New Orleans Saints because
- 16:15Speaker 3: I got Ross Jackson, who's going to join us at
- 16:17Speaker 3: nine am. Put on an article on Wednesday talking about
- 16:23Speaker 3: the New Orleans Saints potentially bringing back Teddy Bridgewater this
- 16:26Speaker 3: year in free agency. He mentioned, you know, the Saints
- 16:30Speaker 3: have never been shy about bringing back players from the past.
- 16:33Speaker 3: They reacquired mark Ingram in twenty twenty one, They brought
- 16:36Speaker 3: back Jimmy Graham in twenty twenty three. Number twenty twenty,
- 16:41Speaker 3: they brought back Malcolm Jingins. Like, there's a lot of
- 16:44Speaker 3: guys that had been on this team previously did they
- 16:48Speaker 3: have brought back? And you know we're else right, Bridgewater
- 16:50Speaker 3: makes sense as another rekindled flame, especially if the team
- 16:54Speaker 3: sees veteran quarterback Taysom he'll leave after his contract voids
- 16:57Speaker 3: on March tenth, or if he'll retires. I don't think
- 17:01Speaker 3: Taysom Hill is going to be back with this team,
- 17:02Speaker 3: whether he retires, whether he goes somewhere else in free agency.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I just I just don't see that happening. I don't
- 17:08Speaker 3: know how much sense it makes for the Saints. And
- 17:11Speaker 3: I hate saying that because I love Taysom Hill, but
- 17:13Speaker 3: I'm just I'm not quite sure how that would work.
- 17:16Speaker 3: So would you want Teddy Bridgewater back? I absolutely would.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Teddy Bridgewater was a great locker room guy. He was
- 17:23Speaker 3: loved by fans. The problem is Teddy hasn't played in
- 17:28Speaker 3: a number of years now.
- 17:30Speaker 2: He's been on rosters.
- 17:31Speaker 3: But the last time Teddy Bridgewater threw a pass he
- 17:39Speaker 3: threw fifteen passes a year ago from Tampa sixty two yards.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Before that, it was all the way back in twenty
- 17:48Speaker 3: twenty two, he attempted seventy nine passes for the Miami Dolphins.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Remember he kind of retired, and then he unretired, went
- 17:56Speaker 3: to Detroit to try to help him during that playoff run.
- 17:58Speaker 3: B Jared Golf's backup Detroit for two years, and then
- 18:01Speaker 3: last year again fifteen total passes on the year for
- 18:04Speaker 3: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And he's thirty three years old.
- 18:07Speaker 3: It'll be thirty four, so he still got some tread
- 18:08Speaker 3: left on those tires. And again, I would welcome Teddy
- 18:11Speaker 3: Bridgewater back with open arms because I think he is
- 18:15Speaker 3: valuable as a backup quarterback in this league.
- 18:18Speaker 2: He could help Tyler Shuck out.
- 18:19Speaker 3: He's been in this league for a number of years
- 18:21Speaker 3: with a number of different franchises in a number of
- 18:24Speaker 3: different roles. When he went to the Minnesota Vikings, he
- 18:27Speaker 3: was their starting quarterback until injuries caught up with him,
- 18:31Speaker 3: came to New Orleans, he had to fill in for
- 18:34Speaker 3: Drew Brees when Brees had that thumb injury, and Teddy
- 18:36Speaker 3: Bridgewater went five and oh as a starting quarterback here
- 18:39Speaker 3: in New Orleans. Nine touchdown, Stoneley two interceptions. So he
- 18:47Speaker 3: was really good here and I would welcome him back.
- 18:50Speaker 3: But that also begs the question should the Saints trade
- 18:54Speaker 3: Spencer Rattler?
- 18:57Speaker 2: I think so.
- 18:58Speaker 3: I think they should trade Spencer Rattler. And this is
- 19:01Speaker 3: not a shot at Spencer Ratler. I think Spencer Radler
- 19:03Speaker 3: is valuable on this team. I actually think he's so
- 19:05Speaker 3: valuable that you could get some trade value back for
- 19:08Speaker 3: a guy like Rattler. I'm not saying second third round pick,
- 19:11Speaker 3: but could you get a fourth a fifth for a
- 19:15Speaker 3: guy like Rattler. You could take advantage of a lot
- 19:18Speaker 3: of quarterback needy teams. I'll tell you that that could
- 19:20Speaker 3: be desperate. The Arizona Cardinals. You mean to tell me
- 19:24Speaker 3: Spencer Ratler couldn't go in there with Arizona with a
- 19:28Speaker 3: brand new coaching staff, and that franchise seems keen on
- 19:31Speaker 3: moving on from Kyler Murray. Spencer Radler could go in
- 19:33Speaker 3: there and be a bridge quarterback for him at the start,
- 19:36Speaker 3: and who knows, maybe he could develop into something there.
- 19:39Speaker 3: What about the Las Vegas Raiders? Could he go there
- 19:42Speaker 3: with Clint Kubiak who coached him a year ago in
- 19:45Speaker 3: New Orleans. If you don't want Fernando Mendos that I
- 19:48Speaker 3: have to start as a rookie, or you want somebody
- 19:51Speaker 3: to come in and mentor him, that's a really good
- 19:53Speaker 3: locker room guy. Spencer Ratler could be that guy for
- 19:55Speaker 3: you there. I think there is value in trading Spencer Ratler.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Now the pushback will be Rattler's too good of a backup,
- 20:05Speaker 3: you have to hold.
- 20:05Speaker 2: On to it.
- 20:07Speaker 3: The reality is, if any team has to rely on
- 20:10Speaker 3: their backup, you're already kind of screwed.
- 20:13Speaker 2: And again that's not a shot. It's Spencer Rattler.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Like when you look at his record, he has a
- 20:21Speaker 3: one in thirteen record as a starting quarterback for the
- 20:24Speaker 3: New Orleans Saints.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Now, not all of that is his fault.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I mean you look at what he did last year
- 20:29Speaker 3: over sixty seven percent completion, eight touchdowns, five interceptions, fifteen
- 20:33Speaker 3: hundred dollars.
- 20:34Speaker 2: So Spencer Ratlers are doing his part.
- 20:36Speaker 3: He's just like you're not losing because of Spencer Rattler,
- 20:41Speaker 3: but you also weren't winning with him either. He wasn't
- 20:44Speaker 3: elevating the players around him. He did a fine job.
- 20:47Speaker 3: He played his role. I thought he did a good
- 20:49Speaker 3: job leading that offense at times. But think about the
- 20:53Speaker 3: difference in that offense when Tyler Shack stepped in there.
- 20:56Speaker 3: It just felt different. He kind of elevated the players
- 20:58Speaker 3: around him. Look at Devn I mean, Devon Veley had
- 21:02Speaker 3: career games like I know. I made the joke on
- 21:04Speaker 3: this show saying, oh, Devon Veley rode to one hundred
- 21:06Speaker 3: yards when people always say road to one k. It
- 21:09Speaker 3: was road to one hundred. Devon Veley wants Tyler Schuck.
- 21:13Speaker 3: But game the starting quarterback really thrived. I mean that
- 21:15Speaker 3: was Shuck's third down go to guy. Him and Jawan
- 21:18Speaker 3: Johnson made play after play. There was a game Tyler
- 21:21Speaker 3: Shuck just ripping it down the seam on third down
- 21:24Speaker 3: for those first downs, throwing it up to Veyle, throwing
- 21:26Speaker 3: it up to Johnson, and Chris Olave had some of
- 21:30Speaker 3: the best games of his career with Tyler Shuck in
- 21:32Speaker 3: their quarterback. He just seemed like Shuck elevated the players
- 21:36Speaker 3: around him. It's not a shot at Spencer Rattler. There's
- 21:39Speaker 3: a lot of guys in the league that play their
- 21:41Speaker 3: role and they do it well and unfortunately they're not winning.
- 21:44Speaker 3: That's kind of where I'm at with Spencer Ratler. Ratler
- 21:48Speaker 3: goes one to thirteen. Tyler Shuck had the same team
- 21:51Speaker 3: Rattler did a year ago, and he went five and
- 21:52Speaker 3: four as the starting quarterback. If you do trade Tyler Shan,
- 22:00Speaker 3: I mean Spencer Ratler and you signed Teddy Bridgewater, that's
- 22:05Speaker 3: a good It's a step in the right direction. How
- 22:08Speaker 3: comfortable are you with Bridgewater at this point in his career?
- 22:13Speaker 3: I mentioned he threw fifteen passes a year ago. Then
- 22:15Speaker 3: he hadn't thrown a ball since twenty twenty two. How
- 22:19Speaker 3: comfortable are you with him being your primary backup? You
- 22:22Speaker 3: may have to actually bring in a third option. That's
- 22:25Speaker 3: where he gets a little dicey for you. You look
- 22:28Speaker 3: at some of the unrestricted free agents right now, and
- 22:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna be realistic with this.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Like Marcus Mariota thirty two years old, had to start.
- 22:36Speaker 3: A number of games for Washington last year due to
- 22:38Speaker 3: those Jade and Daniel's injuries. Mariotas still got it.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I mean he looked.
- 22:41Speaker 3: He looked good in a number of those games. Now,
- 22:44Speaker 3: Washington was terrible and they had no weapons on the outside,
- 22:47Speaker 3: they had no running game, so Mariota was kind of
- 22:49Speaker 3: on his own, but he held up well. Mariota's played
- 22:53Speaker 3: a lot of games in this league. He is set
- 22:55Speaker 3: to be an unrestricted free agent unless something changes with
- 22:58Speaker 3: franchise tags and stuff like that. But a guy like
- 23:01Speaker 3: Marriott is probably not getting franchise tag at this point
- 23:04Speaker 3: in his career. I mean, Zach Wilson's out there, and
- 23:08Speaker 3: I get it. Everyone likes to clown Zach Wilson for
- 23:10Speaker 3: his year with the Jets. One, nobody does well Jets two.
- 23:14Speaker 3: You're not bringing him into be a starting quarterback. Zach
- 23:16Speaker 3: Wilson still got some talent I would welcome. If I'm
- 23:21Speaker 3: cheering for any team, I would welcome Zach Wilson. And
- 23:24Speaker 3: as the backup quarterback, why not. He's still got talent.
- 23:28Speaker 3: He doesn't have to go in there and start sixteen
- 23:30Speaker 3: games for you a Lesha hope. Not Mitch Traubisky. He's
- 23:35Speaker 3: been in Buffalo for a number of years, but he's
- 23:37Speaker 3: a former first round pick. Started a bunch of games
- 23:39Speaker 3: in Chicago. Now Jimmy Garoppolo is a free agent. That's
- 23:45Speaker 3: that one's more wishful thinking than anything. I think the
- 23:47Speaker 3: Saint should be a tough sell for a guy like Garoppolo,
- 23:51Speaker 3: not because he doesn't like the city of New Orleans
- 23:53Speaker 3: and the Saints, but like, Jimmy Garoppolo is gonna have
- 23:56Speaker 3: teams out there that want him to be a starter,
- 23:57Speaker 3: like where it is, teams like Miami. You've already reached
- 24:00Speaker 3: out to him to like be that guy for this year.
- 24:02Speaker 3: So I don't know if Jimmy Garoppolo would turn down
- 24:05Speaker 3: a potential starting role to come to New Orleans and
- 24:07Speaker 3: be the backup and mentor Tyler Shuck. But he's a
- 24:09Speaker 3: name out there to watch who's currently a free agent.
- 24:13Speaker 3: You have some options out there. I'm okay with signing
- 24:16Speaker 3: Teddy Bridgewater. I'm okay with trading Spencer Rattler, but I
- 24:21Speaker 3: think you have a little bit more work to do
- 24:23Speaker 3: in the quarterback room if that does in fact happen,
- 24:26Speaker 3: all right, we'll step away. We'll take a quick time
- 24:28Speaker 3: out when we get back. Transition away from football. LSU
- 24:32Speaker 3: gymnastics coach at Jay Clark joins us next here on
- 24:34Speaker 3: off the bench, Off the bench.

- 26:00Speaker 3: Yeah, welcome back in Friday edition of OTB Taylor Sharpy
- 26:05Speaker 3: with us sitting in for the time being for Jacob
- 26:08Speaker 3: Messer and Matt Flynn. They will be back on Monday.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Right now, let's go out to the phone lines. Big
- 26:15Speaker 3: meat coming up. LSU Gymnastics coach at Jay Clark joins
- 26:19Speaker 3: us right now.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Coach Clark, good morning, How are you?
- 26:22Speaker 6: Good morning? How are you this morning?
- 26:24Speaker 2: Doing quite well? Coach?
- 26:25Speaker 3: You know your your your team's always one of the
- 26:28Speaker 3: top programs in the country.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Everybody knows that.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Like y'all the rank number two right now, your you're
- 26:33Speaker 3: six six and one overall in the season. And yes,
- 26:36Speaker 3: I mean you know it seems like it's reload instead
- 26:38Speaker 3: of rebuild for you guys every year, but specifically this team,
- 26:42Speaker 3: Like what has made your squad so tough to beat
- 26:44Speaker 3: this year?
- 26:46Speaker 6: Well, I mean I think we had a lot of
- 26:48Speaker 6: kids come back from last year and a lot of
- 26:50Speaker 6: kids whose roles expanded that we all that we already
- 26:52Speaker 6: knew would be there even last year. But when you
- 26:57Speaker 6: have a Leah Finnigan and Haley Bryant and Sierra Ballard
- 27:01Speaker 6: and those guys leading the way, there's not a lot
- 27:02Speaker 6: of there's only so many opportunities to compete. So we
- 27:05Speaker 6: knew we had some kids coming in that, you know,
- 27:08Speaker 6: returning this year, that with their role would expand and
- 27:10Speaker 6: they'd be able to do the job. I think more
- 27:12Speaker 6: than anything, though, we've got a group that that really
- 27:15Speaker 6: seems to be bought into the way we like to
- 27:17Speaker 6: do things, and and they they they cared genuinely for
- 27:22Speaker 6: each other, and they're doing it for the right reasons,
- 27:24Speaker 6: and that's that's always a key to any anybody's success.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Could you talk about all the all the veterans you
- 27:30Speaker 3: have back and certainly, but you know, when you anybody
- 27:33Speaker 3: that's watched this team, you see a gymnast like Nina
- 27:37Speaker 3: Baloo out there freshman, I mean, what maybe you know
- 27:40Speaker 3: her specifically, some of the younger gymnasts on the team,
- 27:42Speaker 3: what stood out uh to you about them?
- 27:45Speaker 6: Well, Nina in particular, Nina been coming to our camp
- 27:48Speaker 6: since she was about eight years old. I think she
- 27:50Speaker 6: had her mind made up she was coming to LSU
- 27:52Speaker 6: before we knew even who she was. She's uh, she's
- 27:56Speaker 6: been a mainstay in our summer life for a long time.
- 28:00Speaker 6: And you know, she just that kid is She's a
- 28:03Speaker 6: She's an alpha in every way, and she she brings
- 28:06Speaker 6: so much energy to everything that she does. Even as
- 28:10Speaker 6: a freshman, she has been one of the more vocal
- 28:13Speaker 6: leaders in the room and uh and willing to participate
- 28:17Speaker 6: and willing to put herself out there in terms of
- 28:19Speaker 6: giving her opinion about the way we ought to be
- 28:21Speaker 6: doing things. And and she's been an incredibly good impact
- 28:24Speaker 6: so far. And UH just couldn't couldn't be happier with
- 28:29Speaker 6: with the role that she has played so far. Over
- 28:31Speaker 6: the years, she will do a lot more in terms
- 28:34Speaker 6: of just sheer gymnastics than she's done so far. But
- 28:37Speaker 6: but she's already contributed in massive ways.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Coach, you're talking about gymnasts have contributed in massive ways.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Let's go ahead and name the Gymnasts of the Week
- 28:47Speaker 3: award after Caitlyn Chio. I mean, she wins there last week.
- 28:51Speaker 3: You know, she got this a number of times as
- 28:52Speaker 3: a freshman. She's only built on that as a sophomore.
- 28:56Speaker 3: That was her twelfth Gymnast of the Year of the
- 28:58Speaker 3: Week award. You know, early in her sophomore year she
- 29:04Speaker 3: had a record all around performance on Friday. It was
- 29:06Speaker 3: thirty perfect ten on the floor. I mean, how is
- 29:10Speaker 3: she built on that great freshman year? What have you
- 29:12Speaker 3: seen from her?
- 29:13Speaker 6: I think more than anything, she's just shown a lot
- 29:16Speaker 6: of growth in terms of maturity and the way she
- 29:18Speaker 6: carries herself, the way she communicates with her teammates. I
- 29:21Speaker 6: think last year it was sort of just sort of
- 29:25Speaker 6: organic the way it happened. She just came in and
- 29:27Speaker 6: did her job, didn't say a whole lot, and and
- 29:30Speaker 6: and at times when things didn't go well for her,
- 29:33Speaker 6: which wasn't often, you know, her body language would reflect that.
- 29:36Speaker 6: Now she's she's she's really changed the way that she
- 29:40Speaker 6: approaches things. She's done an amazing job of being a
- 29:45Speaker 6: better teammate and and just shown a lot of growth.
- 29:48Speaker 6: When things aren't going well for her, you don't know
- 29:49Speaker 6: it anymore. And that's and that's that's the time of
- 29:52Speaker 6: a good leader, because she's she's focused on what's going
- 29:55Speaker 6: on with everybody else around her. You know, you always
- 29:57Speaker 6: worry when somebody has a freshman year like that that,
- 30:00Speaker 6: you know, things can get sideways if they're trying to
- 30:02Speaker 6: duplicate or or repeat something that they did in the past.
- 30:06Speaker 6: And I think she's done a really good job of
- 30:09Speaker 6: managing that expectation that she has for herself and also
- 30:13Speaker 6: really turning the focus away from that and onto her teammates.
- 30:17Speaker 6: And I think that's been the key to her success
- 30:19Speaker 6: so far.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Oh, judym Nasik's go to Jay Clark joining us right now. Coach,
- 30:23Speaker 3: your team has been awesome the last two weeks. I mean,
- 30:25Speaker 3: you set your season high mark one ninety eight point
- 30:28Speaker 3: three two five against Auburn last week. You guys have
- 30:32Speaker 3: won eighteen straight inside the p MAC, haven't lost a
- 30:36Speaker 3: home meet since January sixteenth of twenty twenty three.
- 30:40Speaker 2: I did not realize it had been that long.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Like you, when you're at home, you know, people always
- 30:46Speaker 3: ask me what's the best environment you've ever seen in
- 30:48Speaker 3: the p MAC and coach for me. I don't know
- 30:51Speaker 3: if it was twenty fifteen or twenty sixteen, but you
- 30:53Speaker 3: guys were taking on Florida inside the p MAC. That's
- 30:56Speaker 3: the loudest I've ever seen that venue. I mean, it
- 30:58Speaker 3: was a top ten matchup at the time. You guys
- 31:00Speaker 3: pulled off a big win. What is it like knowing
- 31:03Speaker 3: like you have that kind of fan support at home,
- 31:05Speaker 3: It's got to be a big advantage.
- 31:07Speaker 6: Well, first of all, that meat was twenty fifteen. It
- 31:09Speaker 6: was the first time we had sold that building out
- 31:12Speaker 6: and we'd been on a pretty steep trajectory of growth
- 31:15Speaker 6: at that point, and you're right, that place was unbelievable
- 31:19Speaker 6: that night. And look, it's different, you know, That's what
- 31:22Speaker 6: everybody's saying. Now. I've been saying it since I got
- 31:24Speaker 6: here in twenty twelve, So Layne can't have that all
- 31:26Speaker 6: to himself, but it is different here and we're just
- 31:32Speaker 6: so blessed to have that kind of support. It's there's
- 31:34Speaker 6: nowhere else in the country that you can walk into
- 31:36Speaker 6: an arena and have that kind of just amazing, almost
- 31:42Speaker 6: vitriolic support for your team. And in our sport. It
- 31:47Speaker 6: happens in other sports. It happens in football and basketball
- 31:50Speaker 6: and others, but the arena, the peedback on Friday nights
- 31:55Speaker 6: in Baton Rouge is unlike anything else in our sport,
- 31:58Speaker 6: in gymnastics, and it's it's an incredible blessing. It's as
- 32:02Speaker 6: part of what draws kids to want to come here
- 32:05Speaker 6: and to experience this as they go into the tail
- 32:09Speaker 6: end of their careers because there is no PROS, there
- 32:13Speaker 6: is no NFL, there is no NBA, and so they
- 32:15Speaker 6: want to experience the bigness of what LSU has to offer.
- 32:18Speaker 6: And it's a tremendous advantage for us when our fans
- 32:21Speaker 6: are packed in there and as loud as they are.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm glad you mentioned that.
- 32:26Speaker 3: I saw a graphic over the weekend else you put
- 32:29Speaker 3: it out. It was between your meat against Auburn, the
- 32:32Speaker 3: women's basketball game against South Carolina, and opening weekend at
- 32:34Speaker 3: the Box. It was three events over the weekend, all
- 32:37Speaker 3: eleven thousand plus fans inside that venue. I mean, it
- 32:40Speaker 3: was something. It was just really incredible. Coach, Again, you
- 32:44Speaker 3: guys have been great the last few weeks, but you
- 32:47Speaker 3: have been at home Penn State and Auburn. Now you
- 32:50Speaker 3: go on the road into a hostile environment. How is
- 32:53Speaker 3: that different for you guys going into a meet because
- 32:57Speaker 3: obviously at home, I mean I just mentioned eighteen straight
- 33:00Speaker 3: inside the PMAG. But when you're in a hostile environment,
- 33:02Speaker 3: is there a little bit extra you got to get
- 33:04Speaker 3: your team ready to go. Or is it just hey,
- 33:06Speaker 3: it's business as usual, just a different atmosphere.
- 33:09Speaker 6: Well, in general, it's business as usual, but there are
- 33:12Speaker 6: adjustments that you have to make. I mean, everybody's equipment,
- 33:14Speaker 6: even though they meet the same specs and everything, it
- 33:16Speaker 6: feels a little different. Takes us a little bit to
- 33:19Speaker 6: adjust to that. I don't know what to expect in
- 33:21Speaker 6: terms of a crowd. I anticipate, since it's one versus
- 33:24Speaker 6: two tonight, that it'll be be a big crowd. But
- 33:27Speaker 6: you know, we learned we'd much rather compete in front
- 33:30Speaker 6: of a large crowd that's against us than nobody. So
- 33:32Speaker 6: you know when we go some places and it's it's
- 33:35Speaker 6: vapid in there because it's you know, there's nobody in there.
- 33:38Speaker 6: But you know, for us, it's really it's really not
- 33:41Speaker 6: about the other team that's on the floor with us.
- 33:43Speaker 6: It can't be. There is no defense. We can't tackle them,
- 33:46Speaker 6: they can't tackle us. So it's it's a it's a
- 33:49Speaker 6: it's just a different approach. We have to stay true
- 33:51Speaker 6: to who we are. We're still in a growth period.
- 33:53Speaker 6: We're still trying to become a finished product. And I
- 33:56Speaker 6: tell them every week. You know, we set a new
- 33:58Speaker 6: floor for ourselves every week. Hopefully, if we're doing things
- 34:01Speaker 6: the right way and we're moving forward and we're getting
- 34:05Speaker 6: closer to where we want to be in terms of
- 34:07Speaker 6: what our ultimate potential is, then every week we should
- 34:10Speaker 6: see improvement and we should set a new floor for
- 34:12Speaker 6: ourselves in different ways. And so, you know, we certainly
- 34:16Speaker 6: understand that this is a big meet here, and we
- 34:19Speaker 6: know where we are, and we know that Oklahoma's been
- 34:21Speaker 6: the gold standard. They won seven of the last eleven
- 34:24Speaker 6: national championships in our sport. But there's a nice, little
- 34:29Speaker 6: respectful rivalry between the two programs right now. We were
- 34:33Speaker 6: able to share the regular season title with them last
- 34:36Speaker 6: year and then beat them at the SEC Championship and
- 34:39Speaker 6: then unfortunately we came up short of making finals at
- 34:42Speaker 6: the end. But we know who we're competing against tonight,
- 34:45Speaker 6: and we just got to go in there confident and
- 34:46Speaker 6: really do everything we can to put pressure on them
- 34:49Speaker 6: and see see where things come out.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Courch you were.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Talking about the battles you guys have had with Oklahoma.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Obviously one versus two, you guys already faced them once
- 35:00Speaker 3: this year.
- 35:00Speaker 2: It was your first meet of the.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Year correct, And I mean it says, you know, one
- 35:06Speaker 3: point five for both teams, but OU wins in a
- 35:09Speaker 3: six score tiebreaker.
- 35:11Speaker 2: How does that work?
- 35:13Speaker 6: Well? In our sport, we put six up on every event.
- 35:15Speaker 6: You count five of them, you count the best five,
- 35:17Speaker 6: and so when you get into a tiebreaker situation. They
- 35:20Speaker 6: don't normally do it in a regular season meet, but
- 35:23Speaker 6: ESPN runs that according to championship rules because it's a
- 35:27Speaker 6: it's an ESPN event, and so they go to the
- 35:31Speaker 6: six score on every event. And our sixth score in
- 35:35Speaker 6: two spots was lower than theirs, and I think we
- 35:37Speaker 6: end up losing by a quarter of a tenth or
- 35:39Speaker 6: half a tenth based on that. But it goes in
- 35:42Speaker 6: the record book as a tie and they just break
- 35:44Speaker 6: the tiebreaker and they do the tiebreaker to decide the
- 35:47Speaker 6: champion of that meet. And that's the same way they
- 35:49Speaker 6: would do it in the postseason.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Well, coach, speaking of that tie the last time you
- 35:53Speaker 3: guys face the Oklahoma Sooners, what's it going to take
- 35:57Speaker 3: to get this team over the top tonight?
- 36:01Speaker 6: As I said, we just got to go in there
- 36:02Speaker 6: and be ourselves. You know it's there. It's tough to
- 36:05Speaker 6: beat them. I think the last time they lost here
- 36:07Speaker 6: was in twenty fourteen. You think we have a street
- 36:09Speaker 6: going into PMAC these guys and the team they lost
- 36:12Speaker 6: to was us, was in back in twenty fourteen when
- 36:15Speaker 6: Reagan Corville and Sarry Morrison. We're still on the team,
- 36:20Speaker 6: you know, but it's different times now, and they're they're
- 36:23Speaker 6: tough to beat at home. It's really for us, it's
- 36:25Speaker 6: just about going in there and staying true to the
- 36:27Speaker 6: identity that we're creating for ourselves and and go compete
- 36:30Speaker 6: hard and and you know see where see where we
- 36:33Speaker 6: end up. We're gonna see these guys again down the road.
- 36:35Speaker 6: We'll see him at the SEC Championship and if everything
- 36:38Speaker 6: goes well, we'll see him in the NCAA Championship. So
- 36:42Speaker 6: this this meet, while it's it's big and it's exciting
- 36:45Speaker 6: and fans love it and it'll be great for TV,
- 36:47Speaker 6: it's not going to define a whole heck of a
- 36:49Speaker 6: lot for us either way. So we just got to
- 36:51Speaker 6: put it in its proper place and go compete hard
- 36:53Speaker 6: and try to win it.
- 36:54Speaker 2: One versus two, LSU versus Oklahoma.
- 36:57Speaker 3: That is LSU Gymnastics coach j coach, Thanks for hopping
- 37:01Speaker 3: on with me and everybody back home is gonna be
- 37:03Speaker 3: pulling for you guys.

- 39:28Speaker 5: We just went to one in Mobile, Alabama a couple
- 39:30Speaker 5: of weeks ago when we were down there for the
- 39:32Speaker 5: Senior Ball. So again, find that location nearest you.
- 39:35Speaker 4: How do you do that? You go to Rouses dot.
- 39:36Speaker 7: Com at roussam get ready for the tailgating weekend. Baby,
- 39:40Speaker 7: do it local at local grocery store. Go check out
- 39:43Speaker 7: your nearest local Rouses.
- 39:52Speaker 3: Come on, this is this song exactly four minutes long?
- 40:04Speaker 3: It's a good question because that would be a missed
- 40:05Speaker 3: opportunity if not, the song has to be four minutes.
- 40:08Speaker 2: It says four minutes and five seconds. But I'm sure
- 40:11Speaker 2: it's just like the end of or outro whatever. I
- 40:15Speaker 2: was hope, but it wasn't like that praxing. We were talking,
- 40:20Speaker 2: uh treing shoes in the in the break Do you
- 40:25Speaker 2: have a pair of hate dudes? I don't anymore, but
- 40:29Speaker 2: you did?
- 40:29Speaker 4: I did?
- 40:30Speaker 3: Okay, last time I said I had hay dudes, people
- 40:34Speaker 3: said they were old man shoes.
- 40:36Speaker 4: No people wearing for like.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Just like my dad loves hay dudes.
- 40:42Speaker 4: Nothing wrong with.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Anything wrong with them, but they're definitely dead bad boys.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Here huh the navy blue. I just bought these. These
- 40:50Speaker 2: are like two weeks old. Those are fresh. Yeah, look
- 40:52Speaker 2: at these, look like your dad.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Now, look at these da shoes.
- 40:56Speaker 3: At these you had to get look at them. Look
- 40:58Speaker 3: at them pearly white, right, they looks great. The problem
- 41:02Speaker 3: with these is though they don't make half sizes. What
- 41:04Speaker 3: size do I wear? Of course it's a ten and
- 41:06Speaker 3: a half, so I gotta buy the eleven. It's just
- 41:09Speaker 3: a little floppy and they kind of they kind of
- 41:11Speaker 3: flop right off of me. But do their comfy? I mean,
- 41:13Speaker 3: it feels like I'm wearing slippers. And see She's like,
- 41:16Speaker 3: you know, they're duteo.
- 41:17Speaker 6: I'm not.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I'm not Chris Marley wearing loafers with no socks into
- 41:20Speaker 2: the office. Okay, and high waters. I at least I'm not.
- 41:25Speaker 2: I'm not wearing the loafers. Okay, We're just we wanted
- 41:28Speaker 2: to be. Chris is listening. He's gonna text me immediately
- 41:32Speaker 2: after hearing that the man had high water. I love
- 41:35Speaker 2: my guy.
- 41:38Speaker 3: No, look, I was tired. I uh had to work
- 41:40Speaker 3: the women's game last night. I walked into my back
- 41:43Speaker 3: door at eleven fifteen last night.
- 41:45Speaker 2: The back door. Yeah, we'll go into your house from
- 41:48Speaker 2: the back door. Well, so our back.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Door, Now, I could pull it up on Zilla if
- 41:53Speaker 3: I want to just price still there, don't do that.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Our back door.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Our back door is, uh, it's kind of like on
- 41:59Speaker 3: the back corner and then we have a long driveway.
- 42:02Speaker 3: So I pulled right up and then the door's right
- 42:04Speaker 3: there at the back corner. So yeah, I mean we
- 42:05Speaker 3: don't We don't ever use our front door. The only
- 42:07Speaker 3: time our front door's ever us is when Frankie's barking
- 42:09Speaker 3: at the Amazon guys dropping off packages. That's pretty much it. Yeah,
- 42:15Speaker 3: so I've walked in the back door at eleven fifteen.
- 42:18Speaker 2: We're a little tired.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Luckily I got this brand new shirt so we didn't
- 42:22Speaker 3: need to be ironed or anything like that.
- 42:23Speaker 2: And honestly, how long did you have one of these?
- 42:26Speaker 6: Well?
- 42:27Speaker 2: These are the sports don net shirts.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I do.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Matt had a few, actually, he was passing them out.
- 42:31Speaker 3: I guess it was Wednesday. A little bit seat through.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Hanging up in my closet.
- 42:37Speaker 3: I could see my hand on the other side. That's
- 42:40Speaker 3: why I had to wear an undershirt. I thought about
- 42:41Speaker 3: giving y'all show this morning. I was like, we could
- 42:44Speaker 3: be a little seed through on a Friday, a little scandalous.
- 42:46Speaker 3: But I was like, a, you know what, I don't
- 42:48Speaker 3: want people to get too excited. We're gonna we're gonna
- 42:51Speaker 3: chill out a little bit. We're gonna rein it in
- 42:52Speaker 3: a little bit on this Friday. Call a call a
- 42:57Speaker 3: flag football tournament tomorrow. Yeah, Elton Gonzales. The range is
- 43:03Speaker 3: gonna be from four to fourteen. Kind of a wide
- 43:07Speaker 3: range there. A lot of people got their COVID years
- 43:09Speaker 3: of eligibility still remaining. Like the guy at mont You've
- 43:12Speaker 3: all seen the guy at Montana. There's a guy who
- 43:15Speaker 3: plays football at Montana. I say, guy, he's probably an
- 43:18Speaker 3: old man now. He got his ninth year of eligibility
- 43:20Speaker 3: the other day.
- 43:21Speaker 4: I mean the dude from Miami, Miami. He was a
- 43:23Speaker 4: tight end, Like I don't know if he graduated.
- 43:25Speaker 2: He had he had a couple he had a couple
- 43:27Speaker 2: of injuries, like this.
- 43:28Speaker 8: Guy year still it was eight years probably.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Like, what in the van Wilder are we doing? This guy?
- 43:37Speaker 3: He like nine years? His name is uh Solomon, No crap,
- 43:44Speaker 3: tu lea to tupu. No way, I didn't nail that
- 43:49Speaker 3: last name.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Huh he uh. He was granted a rare ninth year
- 43:53Speaker 2: of NCAA eligibility. Oh yeah, Matt was saying his name
- 43:57Speaker 2: the other day and it was making me laugh really hard.
- 44:00Speaker 2: I'm not at Tempet's. It'm wanting done on that one.
- 44:02Speaker 2: He graduated What were you do you graduate high school?
- 44:04Speaker 4: Brexton, twenty twenty three.
- 44:06Speaker 2: O laundry. You were probably fourteen or fifteen or six
- 44:08Speaker 2: fifteen or sixteen? What in twenty twenty three? No, like
- 44:11Speaker 2: graduating class high school? Oh sixteen.
- 44:13Speaker 3: This guy graduated high school in twenty eighteen, and he
- 44:17Speaker 3: would be playing college football next year.
- 44:20Speaker 8: Now.
- 44:20Speaker 2: He had a number of injuries. He did have multiple injuries.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Uh.
- 44:25Speaker 2: It forced him to miss at least five full seasons
- 44:30Speaker 2: of competition.
- 44:31Speaker 4: That's a lot.
- 44:33Speaker 3: That's that's just bad luck at that point. And like
- 44:35Speaker 3: I feel for you now, what you'd do eat? Like, Bro,
- 44:40Speaker 3: you're gonna be collecting aarp here soon you're thirty years old. Yeah, like,
- 44:46Speaker 3: I'll be thirty in September. This guy's guess twenty six
- 44:50Speaker 3: because I graduated high school and fourteen. Yeah, he's played
- 44:52Speaker 3: twenty six, twenty seven somewhere in there, depending on where
- 44:55Speaker 3: the birthday falls. Like, my god, there's grad assistant coaches
- 44:59Speaker 3: on the staff older than younger than you by multiple years.
- 45:04Speaker 8: How far do you think it's TJ. Finley?
- 45:05Speaker 4: Is he a senior? Finally, he's on his seventh year.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Seventh year, Yeah, but only six schools because he went
- 45:13Speaker 3: to TWU Lane. He never actually played at Tulane and
- 45:15Speaker 3: then like he enrolled at TU Lane in the spring,
- 45:17Speaker 3: left after the spring.
- 45:18Speaker 4: When in the falls, has it been injured?
- 45:21Speaker 2: I don't no, not really.
- 45:23Speaker 4: I don't know how you getting that many year.
- 45:25Speaker 3: His first year here was the COVID year at LSU, right,
- 45:28Speaker 3: so that didn't count. I think he did have an injury.
- 45:32Speaker 3: One year, red shirted, another year played in less than
- 45:36Speaker 3: four games. It's probably the Auburn year when bow Knicks
- 45:38Speaker 3: was there, and so I mean it just it kind
- 45:41Speaker 3: of snowballed on it a little bit.
- 45:42Speaker 2: And uh, yeah, he's still in college. So was Max Johnson.
- 45:45Speaker 2: People forget about that, he really people talk about TJ.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Finley, Max Johnson's playing college, but I have no idea,
- 45:51Speaker 3: but he's there. They were in the same they were
- 45:53Speaker 3: in the same high school class.
- 45:55Speaker 8: I love the interview with Carson Beg. I guess leading
- 45:59Speaker 8: to the Nasauar champion ship. They said like they were
- 46:02Speaker 8: talking about classes in finals.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Yeah, graduating.
- 46:05Speaker 8: Yeah, you said Howard classes and he said, oh, I
- 46:07Speaker 8: don't say any classes.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Right, he teaches the classes, MAXI Johnson, Max Johnson greaton papers.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Has been tough for this semester. I'm not gonna lie
- 46:20Speaker 3: to you. Max Johnson at Georgia Southern, so back in
- 46:23Speaker 3: his home state. But all right, that's gonna wrap up
- 46:25Speaker 3: our number two coming up Busy Hour number three or
- 46:28Speaker 3: Roster Jackson nine o'clock, nine thirty Doug Thompson.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Then we're wrapping this week up here on off the bench,
- 46:33Speaker 2: Off the bench,
