- 0:02What if I told you I know the
- 0:05one way that we can grow the sport
- 0:08of CrossFit?
- 0:10I bet you can figure it out.
- 0:12Let's talk about it now.
- 0:25I love the chase and the hunt,
- 0:26and I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:28I always take what I want,
- 0:29and I always give it one hundred.
- 0:31Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:32Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:34I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:35Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:37Now wake up!
- 0:38It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:40Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:43friend to me.
- 0:45What is going on everybody?
- 0:46Welcome to lunchtime.
- 0:49It's time to have lunch with my friends.
- 0:51We've got Corey in the chat.
- 0:53We've got Jess.
- 0:54What is going on, guys?
- 0:57So good to hang out with you today.
- 1:00Corey says, time to test Scott's internet.
- 1:05Well, internet is fine,
- 1:08but my laptop is not good.
- 1:14Might be fried.
- 1:16I have an appointment to see somebody
- 1:18tonight to look at it,
- 1:20but for some reason it will not connect
- 1:22to the internet and stay connected.
- 1:24so um so yeah so that's my night's
- 1:29night is taking my laptop over to the
- 1:33pc doctor and see if we can get
- 1:36it up and running again um but right
- 1:40now i'm on an ipad at least i
- 1:42can see the comments this way i can
- 1:44stay um
- 1:47I can stay horizontal for Joseph.
- 1:50I can do all those things.
- 1:52But right now,
- 1:53just glad to be able to hang out
- 1:54with all of you all.
- 1:56And got Jake in the chat, got Jody,
- 1:59got Craig, Frida, Vicki.
- 2:02You're not late.
- 2:03We just got started.
- 2:06Jess says, oh, that's no good.
- 2:08Hey.
- 2:10At least it's not my internet and stuff
- 2:12going on in my house.
- 2:13Maybe it's just a quick fix.
- 2:16Um, of my laptop.
- 2:18Cause everything else seems to be working
- 2:20okay with my laptop.
- 2:21It's just,
- 2:22it won't connect to the internet.
- 2:24Um,
- 2:25so hopefully I did a full reset of
- 2:28my laptop overnight.
- 2:30Um, got wiped everything off of it.
- 2:33Started fresh from scratch with the
- 2:35factory settings.
- 2:36And, uh, yeah.
- 2:44Jake, Jake, Jake.
- 2:46No,
- 2:47I did not try to take it where
- 2:49Hunter Biden took his.
- 2:52So anyway.
- 2:58Vicky, I feel your pain.
- 3:00I've been fighting with audio issues all
- 3:01day.
- 3:03Is Mercury in retrograde?
- 3:05I would not even know.
- 3:07I wouldn't know.
- 3:12Joseph says, I'm still running AOL.
- 3:14I'm not running out.
- 3:15I've got fiber optic cable internet.
- 3:18The internet is fine.
- 3:20It is, my laptop is smoked,
- 3:23but I have my iPad today.
- 3:25So at least for you,
- 3:28I can be horizontal and still see the
- 3:30chat this way.
- 3:32So,
- 3:32but I hate being like this close to
- 3:34the screen,
- 3:35but it's the only way I have to
- 3:37use the touchscreen to get the comments
- 3:38over.
- 3:39So here we are.
- 3:43So what is up for everyone?
- 3:48It was announced yesterday that Hayley
- 3:52Adams is withdrawing from the final WFP
- 3:57stop in Copenhagen or the finals,
- 4:03which is wild because she has not
- 4:05participated in a single event after being
- 4:09assigned pro-athlete.
- 4:12these are some of the issues that i
- 4:13think are facing the wfp and i say
- 4:16they have a pr problem when you have
- 4:19a signed pro athlete um with the following
- 4:23that haley adams has and she doesn't
- 4:27attend a single tour stop it's it's not
- 4:33it's not a good look for your league
- 4:35at all um and so
- 4:39And I'm not, this is not,
- 4:41before you all come at me from the
- 4:44WFP side, this is not a smear campaign.
- 4:47This is just saying it's a PR issue
- 4:49that has to be dealt with.
- 4:56And in addition to Haley,
- 4:57we have Victor Hoffer,
- 4:59who is withdrawing due to an injury.
- 5:03And when he was signed...
- 5:08we were all saying we couldn't believe
- 5:10that he was one of the athletes picked.
- 5:12Because when has he been healthy to
- 5:17compete at any event in any of the
- 5:20CrossFit seasons or other seasons?
- 5:24So he's out, Haley's out.
- 5:27I think these are things that are facing
- 5:29the WFP that they never expected.
- 5:31You have Dallin Pepper with...
- 5:34Rabdo and now John Wood is coming out
- 5:37saying that there's just too many
- 5:38competitions in a season and it's pushing
- 5:41athletes to the limit.
- 5:43I don't necessarily agree with that.
- 5:46Been chatting with the ladies over the
- 5:48last twenty four hours on that.
- 5:50And we're going to get into that a
- 5:51lot more on Sunday night.
- 5:55Carolyn has some pretty strong thoughts
- 5:58on.
- 6:01Why the rabdo?
- 6:03What's happening to the athletes?
- 6:04Are they truly beat up?
- 6:05All of that stuff.
- 6:06We'll talk about that on Sunday night for
- 6:08sure.
- 6:17I hate that YouTube has switched off
- 6:19names.
- 6:23NLEMOO says,
- 6:25I think something deeper is going on with
- 6:27Haley.
- 6:28Not related to WFP,
- 6:29she didn't perform well at the games,
- 6:31and we haven't seen her compete anywhere
- 6:33else lately either.
- 6:38I'm not sure it's something deeper.
- 6:40I don't...
- 6:43I think that there were promises made at
- 6:46the beginning that really haven't come to
- 6:49fruition with the WFP.
- 6:52I think that truly what's happened is
- 6:54she's prioritized her season.
- 6:57She's looked at the events that are out
- 6:58there.
- 6:59She's looked at, um,
- 7:03she started to participate in the game
- 7:05season and maybe she thought that was just
- 7:08enough for her.
- 7:09And that's why she decided not to do
- 7:11anything else.
- 7:12I don't,
- 7:13I'm not sure if it's anything deeper than
- 7:14that.
- 7:15Um,
- 7:18by all accounts on everything you've seen,
- 7:21she's just happy now.
- 7:22And maybe competing in CrossFit has
- 7:26dropped down a peg or two on the
- 7:29priority list.
- 7:36Emma McQuaid hasn't done any either,
- 7:38by the way.
- 7:38Smaller name than Haley,
- 7:40but still a signed pro, isn't she?
- 7:43She is, but I don't think that
- 7:46I think that was announced earlier,
- 7:48and it's been due to injury.
- 7:51But she had announced she had a pretty
- 7:54bad injury going into this season,
- 7:57which surprised me why the WFP would then
- 7:59sign her if she had that injury.
- 8:05And they weren't sure she was going to
- 8:06make it through the season anyway.
- 8:09So Joseph has strong thoughts.
- 8:14He is out on the WFP.
- 8:17And he says the WFP is imploding.
- 8:21I just think it's a bad look.
- 8:22And they have to figure it out.
- 8:27I don't know.
- 8:29And it's a PR nightmare for them that
- 8:32they have to deal with all of this
- 8:34in addition to trying to run a
- 8:37competition.
- 8:40So.
- 8:44Well, Corey says, the WFP,
- 8:46nothing they do surprises him at this
- 8:48point.
- 8:48Well, I don't think they did anything.
- 8:51They're just announcing that athletes are
- 8:53withdrawing.
- 8:55That's not an action they've taken.
- 8:57It's just something happening to them.
- 9:01It's how do they deal with that moving
- 9:03forward.
- 9:06So I don't know.
- 9:11Freda says,
- 9:12next two to three months will be
- 9:13interesting.
- 9:14I agree.
- 9:18And what's interesting about this,
- 9:19and it's a nice segue,
- 9:20is I just watched the Katie Henninger
- 9:24interview with Coffee Pods and Wads this
- 9:25morning.
- 9:28When you listen to her,
- 9:31you can tell that their focus at Rogue
- 9:34is to treat the athletes the way she
- 9:37wanted to be treated when she was an
- 9:38athlete.
- 9:40And that's just the way they do things.
- 9:42That's the way that's part of their ethos.
- 9:45Right.
- 9:46And we heard a lot of that with
- 9:47WFP.
- 9:49But take a look at how the athletes
- 9:52are treated at Rogue and their enthusiasm
- 9:55to go to Rogue and how they feel
- 9:58about Rogue.
- 10:00When you hear WFP saying the same things.
- 10:04that they want to be for the athletes,
- 10:06that they want to treat the athletes well,
- 10:08they want to give athletes opportunities,
- 10:10you don't hear the athletes responding in
- 10:13the same positive way that they do with
- 10:16Rogue.
- 10:19And when you hear Katie talking about,
- 10:21like, what a handshake means to her,
- 10:24and when you...
- 10:25When you make a handshake with somebody
- 10:27and you tell them you're going to do
- 10:28something, then you do it.
- 10:30That's how she was raised.
- 10:32That's how she moves through life.
- 10:36That's how she just is.
- 10:38That's part of the fabric of her being.
- 10:42And I think that's the piece that WFP
- 10:47has missed.
- 10:49They did a handshake with people promising
- 10:52them X.
- 10:53And they gave them why.
- 10:57And when Rogue promised something,
- 11:00they delivered.
- 11:04But I find it interesting that, like,
- 11:06you know,
- 11:07Rogue kind of did all of this stuff
- 11:09first.
- 11:11Now, they show up.
- 11:12They take care of the athletes.
- 11:13They pay for their way.
- 11:15They give them a stipend to get there.
- 11:19They give them cool gifts when they get
- 11:21there.
- 11:24They make it a competition that highlights
- 11:29them.
- 11:31And it just was,
- 11:33just thinking about it in retrospect,
- 11:38what Rogue has pulled off I think is
- 11:41what WFP wanted to pull off,
- 11:44but they just never came close to doing
- 11:46it.
- 11:51Corey Leonard,
- 11:52I'm assuming they don't have a plan in
- 11:54place to deal with it because I'm willing
- 11:56they bet they thought Haley's situation
- 11:58would never happen.
- 12:00Well, they backfilled her position.
- 12:05Elena Caratalis got the backfill.
- 12:12So there's that.
- 12:14But I don't think they've done anything to
- 12:16talk about the PR aspect of it.
- 12:22Alito, Rogue grew a lot more organically.
- 12:25I feel they never announced what their
- 12:27goal was unless specifically asked.
- 12:29They also have one event.
- 12:35They have one event.
- 12:36You say that, but here's the difference,
- 12:40right?
- 12:42Rogue is there for everyone else.
- 12:46Rogue is a fabric of the community.
- 12:49Rogue doesn't have one event.
- 12:51They host one event that has their title
- 12:54on it.
- 12:55But they outfit the games.
- 12:58They outfit Strongman all over the world.
- 13:01When you listen to Katie talk about that
- 13:04they were packing up the games,
- 13:08and in the meantime,
- 13:09at the very same time,
- 13:10they were packing cargo ships or cargo
- 13:13crates to go on ships to send equipment
- 13:16over to
- 13:18Scotland for their event they are a part
- 13:22of every event and they're a part of
- 13:24the fabric and that's why they're more
- 13:26successful because they're more in touch
- 13:28with what's going on when Katie was asked
- 13:31by Peter if she watches other events she's
- 13:34like how would I not one I'm a
- 13:38fan of the sport two how do I
- 13:40learn if I don't have an open mind
- 13:42to what other people are doing
- 13:45Like all those things were jaw dropping
- 13:47because of the,
- 13:48the answers other people have given to
- 13:51those same questions.
- 13:53And so that's the difference.
- 13:56If Rogue wanted to pull off three events,
- 13:58they could pull off three events.
- 14:01Um, they just,
- 14:05they're just choosing not to.
- 14:10Um,
- 14:16Craig is saying,
- 14:16is Rogue doing premium viewing again this
- 14:19year?
- 14:19They are.
- 14:21It's actually being hosted by Zach
- 14:24Tellender.
- 14:28He's going to be hosting it this year.
- 14:30They are going to have the enhanced camera
- 14:32that you can move around from lane to
- 14:35lane.
- 14:37I get it every year.
- 14:39It is so worth it because you can
- 14:41move the camera.
- 14:41You can look for every
- 14:44athlete on the floor.
- 14:46It is one of the coolest innovations that
- 14:49has come out in the sport.
- 14:59Frida, yeah,
- 15:00and because it is invite-only,
- 15:02it means more focus on the athletes as
- 15:04well.
- 15:05Right,
- 15:05and they do limit it to twenty athletes
- 15:07on each side because they know that's what
- 15:10they can handle.
- 15:11It is...
- 15:13It's actually putting a business plan
- 15:15together and following it.
- 15:17That's why.
- 15:25Hector,
- 15:26the other difference is that Rogue knows
- 15:28their place and really don't want to take
- 15:30the game's place.
- 15:32Right.
- 15:32You know where they stand.
- 15:33You know what they're doing.
- 15:35And they are there to support the games
- 15:37as well.
- 15:45Corey just looked at their valuation,
- 15:47supposedly took in two hundred fifty
- 15:49million.
- 15:50If they wanted to host three events,
- 15:52they could host three events.
- 15:54I think, though,
- 15:55the way the effort they put into it,
- 15:57they know this is what they can do
- 15:59at one hundred percent.
- 16:00And they probably don't want to go more
- 16:02than that.
- 16:04They don't want to be the WFP.
- 16:05They don't want to compete on seasons.
- 16:08They want to do their thing.
- 16:13And the other thing they're doing, like,
- 16:16I'll admit, I am biased to Rogue.
- 16:19They are here in Columbus.
- 16:20We are proud of what they do.
- 16:22They are great for this city.
- 16:25And they're adding on to their facility
- 16:28because they have four locations in
- 16:31Columbus.
- 16:32They had five.
- 16:33They consolidated to one.
- 16:35They grew so much that they had four
- 16:37buildings again.
- 16:39And now they're adding on to consolidate
- 16:41back to one again.
- 16:43it is so it's such an amazing place
- 16:47um and we are so lucky to have
- 16:48them here um vicky i agree the video
- 16:59setup is awesome and amazing um craig uh
- 17:05he's purchased it every year as well yeah
- 17:09if you're not purchasing that for twenty
- 17:10five bucks
- 17:12Like, you're missing out.
- 17:13It's so good.
- 17:24Corey,
- 17:25I would one hundred percent work for
- 17:26Rogue.
- 17:27I've never heard a bad story about them.
- 17:29Well, I live here,
- 17:30so I have heard bad stories,
- 17:32but generally it is like they expect a
- 17:35lot.
- 17:37And if you're not willing to put in
- 17:39that work like they do,
- 17:41They are,
- 17:47that's not in their ethos to not work
- 17:51hard.
- 17:51If you're not going to go in there
- 17:52and work hard,
- 17:53you're going to hear about it.
- 17:59Don't forget, Scott Will said,
- 18:01he and the team will be getting a
- 18:03WFPHQ soon.
- 18:05They plan to do for that what Rogue
- 18:08has done for Ohio.
- 18:11interesting i would love to see that not
- 18:18gonna happen and uh someone may be
- 18:28obsessed i may have to purchase it just
- 18:30so i can watch colton the entire time
- 18:38yeah it it is it is a really
- 18:40cool
- 18:41When they added the movable camera last
- 18:43year to the stream and you could move
- 18:46the camera to whatever lane you wanted and
- 18:48watch whatever you wanted,
- 18:52they had me at hello on that one,
- 18:54man.
- 19:04Joseph Ramirez,
- 19:05they're going to build their HQ in
- 19:06Argentina.
- 19:10So I'm assuming that that's what all these
- 19:13trips around the world have been,
- 19:14to recruit and to find the location of
- 19:17their new HQ,
- 19:19whether it should be in Hawaii or Monaco
- 19:21or Spain or Germany,
- 19:24wherever they're going.
- 19:31Yeah, what is more likely,
- 19:33WFP finding an HQ or Frank having ten
- 19:37thousand affiliates at his beck and call?
- 19:41flip a coin so the other thing I
- 19:49want to talk about real quick is my
- 19:52Monday show is in peril I've been
- 19:56scheduled for a meeting at lunch time even
- 19:59though I blocked that off on my calendar
- 20:01hate that so I either am going to
- 20:04go at one or just cancel the show
- 20:07let me know what your thoughts in the
- 20:09chat
- 20:13So the other thing I want to talk
- 20:18about, Katie said,
- 20:20is the leaks and how she handles them
- 20:22and how she looks at them.
- 20:25What I find amazing is, like Peter said,
- 20:27I didn't even know you had other people
- 20:28test other than Josh and Chris.
- 20:32Well,
- 20:32our very own Carolyn Prevo has tested for
- 20:35Rogue in the past two years.
- 20:39When she tests for Rogue,
- 20:40she doesn't even tell us until after the
- 20:43fact.
- 20:44So she was a tester for Rogue in
- 20:46twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four
- 20:50testing workouts for Rogue.
- 20:53And she has come to Columbus and never
- 20:55even told me she was here and then
- 20:58back out.
- 20:59But they are so adamant about the leakage.
- 21:04And Hiller was even brought up in that
- 21:06conversation.
- 21:07that when he does find the leak,
- 21:08he figures,
- 21:10I need to tell the world so everybody
- 21:12has a fair shake.
- 21:13Katie said, I agree with that.
- 21:15If we find out that there's a leak,
- 21:17we will tell all the athletes at that
- 21:19time, whatever that leak is.
- 21:22And I love the way that she handled
- 21:24that and that she looks at that.
- 21:28And it just shows why they're so
- 21:29successful and why Rogue is,
- 21:34is looked at as a premier event by
- 21:36the athletes to go to.
- 21:38So I thought that was cool.
- 21:42Uh,
- 21:42the next thing I want to talk about,
- 21:44I've said on the show before,
- 21:46and I don't,
- 21:47and I'm saying it again today,
- 21:48just because of what's happened in the NBA
- 21:50in the last twenty four hours.
- 21:53If you don't know, um,
- 21:54a couple members in the NBA were arrested
- 21:57by the FBI over gambling in the sport.
- 22:03Um,
- 22:05What happened was that a player started a
- 22:11game and he left seven or nine minutes
- 22:14into the game.
- 22:16And at the same time,
- 22:19at the same time,
- 22:21the bets for him to get an under
- 22:23of his scoring in that game skyrocketed.
- 22:28And because of legalized gambling,
- 22:34The sites were able to see the spike
- 22:37and identified that there was something
- 22:40crazy going on the day it happened.
- 22:44And so now they are arresting them and
- 22:51bringing them in.
- 22:52The other thing that's happened is the one
- 22:54coach was tipping off people to who may
- 22:57start and who we may sit in games
- 23:00to help with the betting.
- 23:02And again,
- 23:03that was all detected by these legalized
- 23:06gambling sites the day it happens because
- 23:10of the spike it shows on their algorithm.
- 23:15But my question to you is,
- 23:17when you see growth in sports,
- 23:19a lot of time gambling is associated with
- 23:23that.
- 23:24When you give people a vested interest in
- 23:26the outcome of live sports,
- 23:29it grows that sport.
- 23:32And we sit around this world and every
- 23:36phone has betting apps that you can
- 23:38download immediately and you can bet on
- 23:44things.
- 23:45I think CrossFit is tailor-made for prop
- 23:48bets.
- 23:50I know that the Heat One app has
- 23:53dipped their toe in the water.
- 23:55But when you add money,
- 23:58you add a huge vested interest in the
- 24:01outcome of those events.
- 24:03And I think it helps grow the sport
- 24:06because then people have a diehard rooting
- 24:09interest in the outcome of what happens.
- 24:13And now I don't know if like a
- 24:15DraftKings or an ESPN bet or one of
- 24:18those apps would dive into CrossFit.
- 24:22And I think fantasy sports is another
- 24:24thing that gives vested interest.
- 24:27We play fantasy sports with this stuff.
- 24:29We play the Heat One app.
- 24:31But there's no money at the end of
- 24:34this generally or no leagues where the
- 24:38winner wins a prize because we don't have
- 24:42that legalized in a lot of different
- 24:44areas.
- 24:46But it is legalized for like the NFL,
- 24:48NBA, NHL.
- 24:50Major League Baseball,
- 24:52if we could get that to move toward
- 24:56CrossFit,
- 24:58it would give something for people to bet
- 25:00on.
- 25:01And I think that it would increase the
- 25:03viewership by far.
- 25:07And like was shown in the NBA case,
- 25:10you take away the corruption because they
- 25:13can detect when there is a spike in
- 25:17their algorithm to determine if
- 25:20People are trying to cheat and skirt the
- 25:25system.
- 25:26So I really do believe that gambling is
- 25:34a way that would grow the sport.
- 25:36It's thinking outside the box.
- 25:38It's not talked about a lot in the
- 25:43space.
- 25:44But I do believe that it is a
- 25:46way that you could grow the sport pretty
- 25:48quickly.
- 25:58Clock,
- 25:59has Tyler been seen with any Italians
- 26:00recently?
- 26:02I don't know, but he should be.
- 26:05I think that's the way to go.
- 26:11Did I hear that Tyler moved to PA?
- 26:13Lots of Italians in PA.
- 26:15There are.
- 26:15That's where I'm from.
- 26:17He's living in State College, I believe.
- 26:25What else is up here?
- 26:32Gambling in the NBA.
- 26:33I hope they address it on the FanDuel
- 26:35pregame show brought to you by Bet.
- 26:37Right before the game at DraftKings Arena.
- 26:42Yeah.
- 26:45That just shows you, though, Corey,
- 26:47how much money has been brought into the
- 26:50sport because of legalized gambling.
- 26:55And because of that,
- 26:56these apps and these companies are pouring
- 27:01over money to these events and these
- 27:05arenas and these networks to get their
- 27:07name out there because it is a highly
- 27:09competitive business.
- 27:11And it's going to be very,
- 27:17very interesting if it could be pulled
- 27:21off.
- 27:30So I saw that Lito was saying,
- 27:32I think it's Lito,
- 27:35Pedro has Luka Djokic on next week.
- 27:38I did see that today when I was
- 27:41surfing through the YouTubes.
- 27:45Hopefully it's a good interview.
- 27:47If anybody can pull that interview off,
- 27:48I think it's going to be Peter.
- 27:50And he always asks the tough questions.
- 27:56So we'll see.
- 27:57We'll see.
- 28:03Corey Leonard, oh, absolutely,
- 28:06I don't gamble,
- 28:07but I'm in favor of people betting on
- 28:09whatever the hell they want to.
- 28:11Yeah, I really am bad at it.
- 28:13So I put in twenty five dollars at
- 28:18the beginning of every NFL season.
- 28:20I sprinkle some bets throughout the year
- 28:23and I generally lose every one of them.
- 28:28I think I know the sport,
- 28:29but apparently I don't.
- 28:31Or it's just how wild and freaky it
- 28:33gets.
- 28:42I think this is a great point, Frida.
- 28:47I was watching a show last night where
- 28:49they were talking about how many athletes
- 28:52get DM'd because a person lost a bet.
- 28:56Like if CrossFit athletes think the stuff
- 28:59we say is damning and damaging to them,
- 29:03good God, if we added,
- 29:06if we added betting to this,
- 29:08the amount of people that lose and would
- 29:10DM these athletes, holy crap,
- 29:13they wouldn't be able to handle that at
- 29:14all.
- 29:23Um,
- 29:26But yeah, I mean,
- 29:26that's just the way the world is these
- 29:28days.
- 29:29Fantasy sports,
- 29:30people get upset that they started the guy
- 29:33and they didn't do very well.
- 29:37And they DM that athlete.
- 29:39I think as a professional athlete,
- 29:40you almost have to shut yourself off to
- 29:44social media and all of the feedback.
- 29:48Or just take it all with a grain
- 29:49of salt.
- 29:56So, Jody, so many pods, so little time.
- 30:04I live in the Savon, Hiller,
- 30:06Clydesdale bubble.
- 30:08It's a beautiful bubble.
- 30:10We're glad you're here.
- 30:18What is up, Judy Reed?
- 30:22So yeah,
- 30:23I think if you want to grow the
- 30:25sport fast,
- 30:26that is the way to do it.
- 30:30It's weird because CrossFit doesn't want
- 30:33to partner with anybody that would be
- 30:36against the methodology of CrossFit,
- 30:39which I completely understand.
- 30:41And I hope that doesn't leak over to
- 30:43something like gambling and the perception
- 30:46that people have had about it in the
- 30:48past.
- 30:51It is legalized now.
- 30:53It's out there for everyone.
- 30:55It's in most of the states.
- 30:58And why not move to a place where
- 31:00people could bet on it and bring more
- 31:04eyes to it?
- 31:07I think prop bets would be cool.
- 31:08Like someone's going for three hundred
- 31:10pounds on a clean.
- 31:12Will they hit it?
- 31:14And you can hit a prop bet.
- 31:15Yay or nay.
- 31:17It's all there.
- 31:19I mean,
- 31:20they do live betting on plays in football,
- 31:23on at-bats in baseball.
- 31:26Can you imagine, like,
- 31:28will this person do this?
- 31:35Vindicate.
- 31:35Gambling, grow the sport, yes.
- 31:37Corrupt the sport, also yes.
- 31:43I think what's happened in the last day
- 31:46and a half is,
- 31:47has shown that because of the legalized
- 31:50gambling and because the the legal betting
- 31:54places don't want to lose money they are
- 31:57quick to find the cheaters and and i
- 32:01think it's actually making it harder to
- 32:04make it corrupt than when it was
- 32:07unregulated and if you look at the if
- 32:12you take a minute at all to look
- 32:14at the fbi documents
- 32:16from the arrests yesterday,
- 32:19they knew the day everything happened that
- 32:23it was a corrupt bet because of all
- 32:27of the data they had in those legalized,
- 32:32regulated betting systems.
- 32:38So while there's corruption in everything,
- 32:44I think that because it is regulated and
- 32:46because it is,
- 32:49and both CrossFit and the betting houses
- 32:54would have the same vested interest.
- 32:56They would want to make it fair betting
- 33:00so that people wouldn't take money from
- 33:02them.
- 33:03And CrossFit would want to have a fair
- 33:06and equal opportunity in their event.
- 33:16Sean in Oregon, when money is involved,
- 33:18all kinds of shenanigans will happen from
- 33:20corrupt gambling to PEDs,
- 33:22whatever it takes to get the dollar dollar
- 33:25bills.
- 33:27You're right.
- 33:27I mean, again, there's corruption.
- 33:29There's PEDs now,
- 33:31and there's hardly a cent in the sport,
- 33:34right?
- 33:34Unless you win,
- 33:35there's hardly anything you can win.
- 33:38And to risk your reputation on PEDs for
- 33:41the little money that's there,
- 33:42yet people are doing it all the time.
- 33:49Yeah.
- 33:54Agreed.
- 33:55Money makes people crazy.
- 33:56They do.
- 33:57It does.
- 34:00It really does.
- 34:02But I think we already have some crazy
- 34:04people out there.
- 34:06Why not find something that can infuse
- 34:10cash back into this sport?
- 34:13And then maybe, maybe, just maybe,
- 34:17so much money that the methodology and the
- 34:21training and the education can take some
- 34:24of that money from that to further what
- 34:27they're doing, as opposed to the opposite.
- 34:37Corey Lunder, within a week,
- 34:38we've had a major jewel heist.
- 34:40A mafia involved poker ring and sports
- 34:43gambling corruption.
- 34:44We're living in the nineteen twenties.
- 34:48But you know what we learned from the
- 34:50nineteen twenties?
- 34:52Prohibition doesn't work.
- 34:55Prohibiting it or trying to eliminate it
- 34:57doesn't work either.
- 35:00So the best thing you can do is
- 35:01regulate it and have data to show when
- 35:04things are becoming corrupt.
- 35:07Immediately.
- 35:14Just saying.
- 35:18I mean,
- 35:18how scary if you're an NBA player and
- 35:20you now know that DraftKings and BetTree,
- 35:24six,
- 35:24five and ESPN can know immediately if you
- 35:28have tilted the scales on the day you
- 35:33do it.
- 35:34How likely are you now to risk your
- 35:37career and your millions of dollars to try
- 35:42to do that?
- 35:44I'm hoping that these FBI arrests are
- 35:47actually a deterrent for that,
- 35:49as opposed to the thought that this is
- 35:53going to continue and grow.
- 35:58So...
- 36:09We've been in a decade-long era of
- 36:11repression.
- 36:12It might be fading away right now.
- 36:14I'm predicting libertine period coming up
- 36:18like the roaring twenties or even the
- 36:20nineties.
- 36:23Okay.
- 36:35Joseph Ramirez, NFL,
- 36:37NHL and MLB are probably puckered up right
- 36:39now, too.
- 36:40Well,
- 36:40if you remember just a couple of years
- 36:41ago,
- 36:43there were like probably five to ten NFL
- 36:46players that were suspended for the season
- 36:49because they bet.
- 36:51And then we've seen none of that for
- 36:54a couple of years.
- 36:56So I think like we as Americans quickly
- 37:00forget what has happened and kind of
- 37:03forgive and move on.
- 37:05But there were NFL players, Calvin Ridley,
- 37:10he missed the entire season for betting.
- 37:12There was a couple of Indianapolis Colts,
- 37:15a couple of Detroit Lions that were
- 37:18suspended for an entire season for
- 37:20betting.
- 37:22And not necessarily betting on football,
- 37:24but betting on the grounds of the team
- 37:27facility, which they do not allow.
- 37:33So,
- 37:34I think they all have learned their lesson
- 37:36that there's too many data points on these
- 37:41apps now,
- 37:42and they are going to get caught.
- 37:53The same issues exist here in Europe as
- 37:54well, both players and referees.
- 37:57Yeah, we had the Tim Donegan thing,
- 38:00the referee in the NBA that fixed games
- 38:03and
- 38:04ended up in prison.
- 38:06So, yeah.
- 38:10But that was bigger when gambling wasn't
- 38:14regulated,
- 38:15and it was offshore betting or
- 38:18under-the-table betting.
- 38:26How heavy will Otani be watched after what
- 38:28happened with him?
- 38:30My understanding is they did a deep
- 38:32investigation, a deep dive, Joseph,
- 38:34and found out that he had nothing to
- 38:35do with any of that,
- 38:37that it was his interpreter, manager,
- 38:40whatever it was,
- 38:41that just flat out stole his money and
- 38:45bet with it.
- 38:51So with that, guys, don't forget Monday.
- 38:56I did see Lito say let's do a
- 38:58one o'clock show.
- 39:00But if you leave comments on YouTube,
- 39:03let's see.
- 39:05And maybe I'll do a one o'clock show
- 39:09on Monday instead of the noon.
- 39:12And then don't forget next Wednesday at
- 39:14noon lunch, Caroline Klutz,
- 39:19the woman who
- 39:21Kicked ass at crash from the Masters
- 39:24Division.
- 39:25Would have finished second in the Elite.
- 39:27We're going to get her perspective live on
- 39:29the show next Wednesday.
- 39:34And then we're going to bump Corey to
- 39:35either Tuesday or Thursday.
- 39:39So, Corey says, dude,
- 39:44just come on whenever you can.
- 39:45No worries.
- 39:47Yeah, I've learned if I stay consistent,
- 39:50We're much better off.
- 39:52But I have no control over this meeting.
- 39:54And it was actually,
- 39:56they tried to hold it yesterday.
- 39:58Key player didn't show up.
- 40:00And so they rescheduled it for Monday at
- 40:02noon.
- 40:04Right over my block time on the calendar.
- 40:09So with that,
- 40:12I will be here Sunday night with Carolyn
- 40:15and Jamie.
- 40:16And then back Monday at one p.m.
- 40:18it looks like.
- 40:20For lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 40:21And then don't forget Wednesday,
- 40:26Caroline Klutz.
- 40:27Yes.
- 40:29Looks like you are this close to three
- 40:31K subscribers.
- 40:33You know, it's wild.
- 40:33Yesterday I was twenty away.
- 40:36Throughout the day,
- 40:37I dropped two subscribers.
- 40:38I went to twenty two away and now
- 40:41I'm back to twenty away.
- 40:42So we're twenty subscribers away from
- 40:45three K.
- 40:47Hoping to get to three K by the
- 40:49end of the year.
- 40:51Tell your friends, like, subscribe,
- 40:53do all those things.
- 40:55It really,
- 40:55truly helps out in the algorithm.
- 40:57With that, guys,
- 40:59time for you to get back to work.
- 41:01I'm going to head back to work and
- 41:02we'll see everybody next time on Lunch
- 41:05with the Clydesdale.
