- 1:34Manhunt. But here now is The Primrosematter, Part five from Hollywood. It's
- 1:42time now for Johnny Dollar. This is calm Irvin state belief. Well,
- 1:49Lieutenant, they found you in a hurry. Sure, I was home in
- 1:52bed, where any decent person would be this hour of the night or morning
- 1:56or whatever it is. You'll get no sympathy from me. I haven't even
- 1:59been to bed. You doing, Dollar, living in a tree up there
- 2:01and using that forest service phone for your own private exchange. More or less,
- 2:06I've got another body for you, Lieutenant. That's a happy good morning.
- 2:08Who's this one? An next Chicago hood named Spade Killer. What did
- 2:13you do? No? He fell over a cliff in the manner of speaking.
- 2:16That's three of the gang dead now. The only one left is Jibernitzen
- 2:20himself. Have you found him yet? No, but I think I will
- 2:23in the next hour or so. Dollar. I can't hold my men out
- 2:25of there any longer. I gotta move in. Give me till noon,
- 2:28lieutenant. If I can take myself, it may save an innocent person's life.
- 2:31He's a three time killer already, I know. And you've been selling
- 2:35me that story for the last twelve hours. That's what's helped me back.
- 2:38But I've gotta have more detail, all right. A friend who's with me.
- 2:40A prospector named Jed Marsh will meet you here at the Forest Service phone
- 2:44in an hour. He'll be in a green station wagon. When did you
- 2:46get a hold of a green station wagon? We haven't yet. We're about
- 2:50to steal it. So on Lieutenant Tonight and every weekday Night, Bob Bailey
- 3:01in the transcribed Adventures of the Man with the Action Packed Expensacut America's Fabulous Freelance
- 3:06Insurance Investigators, Truly Johnny Dollar. From Special Investigator Johnny Dollar. Location Primrose
- 3:24Camp, Santa Rida National Forest, Arizona to the home office mid State's Industrial
- 3:30Insurance Company, Hartford, Connecticut, Assignment the Primrose Matter expense account final pay.
- 3:44The jibber Nitsen gang had held up an armored truck in Kansas City,
- 3:46killed two guards, and fled with one hundred thousand dollars payroll covered by insurance.
- 3:51I'd finally track them down in the Santa Rita Mountains of southern Arizona.
- 3:54Three of the gang were dead now, and only the jipper himself was still
- 3:58unaccounted for. But he was close around that I was sure of somewhere near
- 4:01the Primrose tourist camp where I was staying a lonely layout on a dead end
- 4:06mountain road run by old Pomp Bardell and his wife and their daughter Jenny,
- 4:10whom I still hadn't seen. It was nearly dawn when Jed, Marsh and
- 4:14I got back to the camp. There was no sign of life. We'd
- 4:16taken the keys to pop station wagon from the dead gangster's pocket. Jed got
- 4:20into the station wagon and waited until I was over at the cabin, then
- 4:24started the motor. I was counting on the sound of the motor to bring
- 4:27somebody out into the open, and the plan worked. Pardon me, but
- 4:32it wasn't The jui showed. It was Pomp Bardell? Hey, what are
- 4:36you doing? Where you go? He came running out of the living quarters
- 4:39behind the souvenir shop, tugging at his suspended He didn't notice me until I
- 4:44walked up behind him. What to do? Would you do enough? I'm
- 4:48an early riser. Anything wrong, mister Bardell? Wrong? Why? No?
- 4:54What do you think be wrong? I don't know, but I thought
- 4:58you seemed a little upset about something. Well, did you happen to notice
- 5:02who was driving my station wagon? Mister doner? I can't say I particularly
- 5:06noticed. I imagine it was your nephew, wasn't it. No, I
- 5:11didn't get out in time to see. Well, who else would it be?
- 5:14Your daughter? You told me, isn't Tucson. There's nobody else here?
- 5:17Is there except you and your wife? No, no, nobody else,
- 5:20sir. I just thought maybe I retton it was him, all right.
- 5:26He don't seem to be around. Is he in the habit of taking
- 5:29your car without telling you, mister Bardoner, No, of course not.
- 5:31He was just going after something. He would be back in the little world.
- 5:35Well, it seems funny him having the keys to it. He's kind
- 5:40of taken over your place here, hasn't he. Who do you mean?
- 5:42Well, taking your car the way just did. And yesterday evening when I
- 5:46wanted to rent a cabin for the night, you claimed they were all full,
- 5:48weren't going to let me have one until he stepped in, And okay,
- 5:51well he's my nephew. One of the families somehow, though, I
- 5:57can't quite picture you as a man who led any other member of his only
- 6:00run things, unless, of course, you happen to be in a position
- 6:02where you had no choice. What are you talking about? I think you
- 6:05know of course I got a choice. Why wouldn't I have? Not one
- 6:11though that you'd probably care to make if I've got the set up your tag
- 6:14right, You ain't no tourist dollar, and you ain't here looking for uranium.
- 6:19Who are you anyhow? I'm a special investigator for an insurance company,
- 6:24the company that ensured that one hundred thousand dollars payroller was stolen in Kansas City
- 6:27by Jipper Nitzen and his gang. What set got to do with anything good?
- 6:31Primrose? Quite a bit, mister Bardell, because this is where the
- 6:34gang hold up. The two of them were left after they shot their way
- 6:39through that roadblock down on the Nogalles Highway. You're crazy. I'd know it
- 6:44if there was any strangers around here, you did know it. One of
- 6:46the two is the man you claim was your nephew. No, no,
- 6:49wait a minute, Actually he was a gangster by the name of Spade Keller.
- 6:53He's dead, by the way, he's dead. Yeah, that's right.
- 6:57It wasn't either took your station wagon. It was a friend of yours.
- 6:59Jet marsh j What what's he aiming to do? Meet the police on
- 7:03the road down below, Tell him what the setup is? Here and stall
- 7:06them off if he can long enough for me to have a try at taking
- 7:10Nitson without giving him a chance to hurt your daughter. What do you mean
- 7:14by that? Last night? Your wife told me Jenny was in a row
- 7:15ill you said she was in Tucson. One thing, Sure, she wasn't
- 7:18around here anywhere, Neither was Jipper. I think he's been holding her as
- 7:23a hostage to keep you and your wife in line. That's why you had
- 7:27to let Spade Keller pass himself off as your nephew. That ain't true.
- 7:30You're out of your mind, am I? Jenny's in in Tucson? Like
- 7:33I told you? Your wife said she was here? Who she was upset?
- 7:36Sure? Sure she was because of the danger to her daughter, the
- 7:40same reason that's got you upset. Don't She'll have a lot better chance if
- 7:43you cooperate with me. He's get out of here. Leave us a low.
- 7:46It wouldn't change things if I did. The police are going to move
- 7:48in at noon with fifty men and start a search. Chip is a three
- 7:51time killer already. One more won't matter to him. My kid help,
- 7:55you'll, please don't ask me to. He'll use her as a hostage a
- 7:58shield and try to shoot his way. She won't have a chance. Your
- 8:01best hope is to tell me where he is, help me get to him
- 8:03without arousing a suspicion. I can't do it. I can't take the change.
- 8:07Yes, you can, Hira warning missus Mindell. He's a special investigator
- 8:13by her. He knows the whole thing. He says, yes and listening.
- 8:18I heard what he said, and he's right too, My Phila Ninsen
- 8:22said, if we will know what he said, if we read one word
- 8:26to him being here, to anybody to kill Jenny first and then us.
- 8:30And I heard what mister Dawlad just said too, and he's right. We
- 8:33gotta take the chance for Jenny's sake. It's all we can do now.
- 8:39I don't know. I just don't know. With the police coming in like
- 8:43the arts out of our hands. Now, She's right, mister Mandell,
- 8:46you can't do anything about the inevitable. It's a matter now of doing what's
- 8:50best and save us for your daughter. What else you suppose I've been thinking
- 8:54of for two days. It's still the only thing to think of. If
- 8:56I didn't agree with you, I wouldn't be here. I turned my information
- 9:00over to the police and let them go ahead and search the area. They
- 9:03get nts and all right, but not before he kill her. But I
- 9:07think I can prevent that. The chip it doesn't know me as far as
- 9:09he's concerned, I'm just another Eastern tourist wandering around the mountains here, and
- 9:13because of that, I think I can get a lot closer to him than
- 9:16the police can without putting him on guard. Provided you'll help. He's right,
- 9:20we gotta do what he says. He's hold up in an old tunnel
- 9:28about a quarter mile back up the canyon. There they took some silver out
- 9:33in the old days. Not many folks even know about it. And your
- 9:37daughter's there with him, yes, more, and he's been taking food to
- 9:39him twice today, making sure she's all right, and she has been.
- 9:43I guess he knowed that's the only hole he had old. Haven't been there
- 9:46yet this morning, have you. No. He don't expect us for around
- 9:50ten or maybe by that time. If things go all right, he'll have
- 9:52more to worry about them, whether he gets his breakfast or not. What
- 9:56are you raiming to do, mister JOHNA make an early morning prospecting trip up
- 9:58that canyon. I'll take a pic, Geiger counter, anything to help look
- 10:01apart not hear. I'll leave my gun with you, mister Bardell, and
- 10:05my watt. You're going up there without no gun. Sunday Prospectus from the
- 10:09east. Don't carry them. Wish me luck. I laughed. A little
- 10:16while later, with a complete kit and dressed to fit the parts, even
- 10:20including a couple of sandwiches and a canteen of water to show I was planning
- 10:24to spend a full day in the hills. At the end of an hour,
- 10:26I was working my way down the canyon, shipping rock samples here and
- 10:30there, testing with a Geiger counter, apparently without a care in the world.
- 10:33The brush covered entrance to the tunnel was only a few yards ahead of
- 10:35me, but I made a point of deliberately ignoring it. Finally, the
- 10:43mouth of the tunnel was only a few feet away. I pushed aside the
- 10:46brush as though to get at the canyon wall, then pretended to see the
- 10:50tunnel for the first time. I pushed aside some more brush, and I
- 10:54stepped inside. After a moment's hesitation, I fished out my flesh like I
- 11:00started walking back in from ants. I hadn't gone far before I got results.
- 11:07I went out like a light. You didn't have to hit him.
- 11:11He's just some prospector who stumbled in here accidentally. Relaxed kid is just knocked
- 11:16out. You didn't have to hit him like that. I can't afford to
- 11:18take chances going out of the entrance to make sure it was a lone.
- 11:22He comes till you call me. The blow had been sharp, but without
- 11:26much force. I was out only for a matter of seconds, but I
- 11:28went on playing possible. I waited now until he was out to be a
- 11:33shut Jenny. You're conscious, you know you get easy. I don't want
- 11:39him to hear his Who are you? What are you? Never mind,
- 11:41there's no time. Just don't worry. I'm here to get you out of
- 11:45this. But how he's a killer, a gangster, I know who he
- 11:48is. Look has he got that money here with him? But he stolen
- 11:52Kansas City? Yeah? I sent some canvas sacks back inside the tunnel farther.
- 11:56What difference does that make, Wney, That's what I was hired to
- 11:58recover. Hired. I don't understand. I'll tell you later now, if
- 12:05you'll keep your head and give me a little help. We've got a good
- 12:07chance of getting you. He's coming back, all right, listen, went
- 12:11over him four or five yards away from me with his back turn and keep
- 12:16him that way for just five seconds. I'll do the rest, got it?
- 12:18Yeah, I don't know if, I don't mind the if, just
- 12:20do it all right, don't let him know I'm conscious. Guys still all
- 12:31yeah? I think maybe he's dying. Then let him go on, get
- 12:37away from him, living on. It's in human to treat anybody that way.
- 12:41Oh, shut up, I got problems on my own. How much
- 12:45longer are you going to keep me here? I get a hunch if something
- 12:48is wrong. Things just don't feel right this morning. So I thought this
- 12:54guy is something that the way I asked you, how much longer? And
- 12:58I said, shut up? How'd you like to make me shut up?
- 13:05How do you mean I suppose you come here and find out? Well,
- 13:11no, it took you two days with you finally stating his soft and up.
- 13:16My hand closed over a rock almost as big as a baseball, weighing
- 13:20over half a pound, and I came slowly to my feet. Chipper whorld
- 13:24around, going for his gun. What's the devil? I aim for?
- 13:26His head. All right, Jenny, he can pick up his gun.
- 13:39How he's bleeding him? No, No, I haven't killed him, but
- 13:46I imagine the state will expense account at him twelve three hundred and nine dollars
- 13:56and forty five cents incidentals in Arizona and transportation back to Hartford expense account total
- 14:01nine hundred and fourteen dollars and fifteen cents. Remarks the state eventually did kill
- 14:07him. I mean yours truly, Johnny Dell. Now here's our star to
- 14:24tell you about next week's story. Every chase a phantom. Well, believe
- 14:28me, I have, and I will next week in the phantom chase matter
- 14:31Join us, won't you? Yours truly? Johnny Deller? Yours truly?
- 14:54Johnny dollar Is starring Bob Bailey. Is transcribed in Hollywood, written by Less
- 14:58Crutchfield. It is produce directed by Jack Johnstone. Heard and our cast were
- 15:03Marvin Millard, Junius Matthews, her Ballads, D. J. Thompson,
- 15:07Herb Butterfield, Tony Barrett and Barbara Eiler. Musical supervision by A. Marigo
- 15:11Marino. Be sure to join us on Monday Night, same time and station,
- 15:16or another exciting story of yours truly, Johnny Dollar. Roy Rowan speaking
- 16:11welcome back. You have to love how on task Johnny Dollar is. You
- 16:18know, he's lying there on the cave, an armed man who could easily
- 16:23kill him is only seconds from getting back, and he takes time to ask
- 16:27the hostage if she knows where the money is. Never let it be said,
- 16:33Johnny lose his sight of business. I also kind of wondered about,
- 16:38particularly in this part. I was iffy on it in part three, but
- 16:44in part five, when we really know what's going on for certain and there's
- 16:49no information to be garnered by beating around the bush, would have made sense
- 16:55to say, Okay, look sir, I know what's going on. The
- 17:00hood who was pretending to be your nephew died, rather than making the guy
- 17:03tell a couple three more embarrassing lies. But other than that, I thought
- 17:08this was a very good serial, and I appreciated Johnny's courage and his willingness
- 17:15to go into the cave and risk his life definitely outside the function of his
- 17:21job, but really just goes to say the top of person he is,
- 17:26and that really makes the show so worth listening to. Now it's time for
- 17:33this week's episode of Man Manhunt. Excuse me between last week's showing this week
- 17:38there were four lost episodes, and the title of today's episode is the case
- 17:45of the surgery slain from April first of nineteen forty four. Man the glue
- 17:55of the surgery lane. Let's do and no crime has been committed yet,
- 18:11No murder has been done. Yes, no man hunts as the gun yet
- 18:27and it's sad. A good Ministers emergency like in the corner. Doctor,
- 18:34bring it here quickly, he If the electric plug is still in the socket,
- 18:38hurry, please, I think something happened to patient. I'm placing the
- 18:41wire. Doctor, the plug is still in the sockett. It's not strong
- 18:45enough. You'll operate, cry pull it over the patient when you please.
- 18:51Hm. There won't be any need for an operation. Our patient has been
- 18:56sad to death. Man Hunt and the glue of the surgery place a con
- 19:23he says, who's corn I got tired of waiting for a phone call in
- 19:26my office, so I come in here deeply touch jail seven. Why isn't
- 19:32the velvet carpet laid out to the head of the homicide department. Oh,
- 19:36sorry about that, Jill, But there were a couple of jitterbugs until a
- 19:38while ago. Yeah, what about him? What do you see? They
- 19:41were cutting a rug? Okay, I'm sorry, what kind of a cl
- 19:47is taking down? Well, you know, George William's the guy we've been
- 19:49dieted down. Well. Our key witness against him is a fellow named Britt
- 19:53Mars. He's being operated on this morning, and you can't question him until
- 19:57after the operation. Waiting for a call from the hospital. Waiting for a
- 20:02call from the hospital, he says, No, I'm expecting a spirit message
- 20:04from an old ghost. I used to know so Nurris his testimony to predictably,
- 20:10Yeah, and he taught Williamson figure and get them twenty years. I'm
- 20:14dying to question that Norris. That may be my call now I've got it
- 20:15down. Hello, Yes, just a minute pause, Yeah, all yeah,
- 20:22Walton's swigging Alan hospital. Yeah, yeah, O, Dave, you're
- 20:32right down operating noble bell. Yeah, it's over all right the hard way.
- 20:37Bert Norris was murdered on the operating table. If I stabbed to death,
- 20:41I gotta get the hospital. Wait for me, bel I'm going to
- 20:44the hospital with what for? You're looking for a way to kill time?
- 20:45How bell, I'm gonna look for a murderer who picked this time to kill.
- 20:55What's the use pens on the knife? I've questioned everybody, And what
- 20:59do I find a well? For one thing? Though, if the operating
- 21:00lights went out because the switch outside the door was drown but I'll agree with
- 21:04you that anybody could at turn the twitch off. Yeah, and George Williams
- 21:07was here at the hospital this morning. Like I said before, he's the
- 21:11guy who had a reason to kill Norris. I'm going up and see him
- 21:15just a minute, if you don't mind, Okay, they'll going up and
- 21:18see Williams. I'm gonna stick around here for a while. Stick around here,
- 21:21he says, so sick who cares? Yeah? Okay, though,
- 21:26oh there's Sampton. Just to check my note. You will always assist doctor
- 21:30robertson this operation, Yes, I do. We generally have the same as
- 21:34soon as far as you know that he's a doctor Roberts or doctor Stone,
- 21:40no man named George Williams. Doctor. I'd rather last after robertson. All
- 21:45right, will where can I find him? His office across the hall?
- 21:48May I go now? Yes, yes, of course. So I'll be
- 21:51a nurse if you want. Yeah, is doctor Roberts office directly across the
- 21:53hall. Yes, okay, I guess I'm a good enough detective to find
- 21:59that all right this morning, I don't ye sor the police. I couldn't
- 22:08they ever find out that iron. Oh he's gonna laugh for me, George,
- 22:14and I've tried to. Yes, if you must know, I am
- 22:17moving my nerves. I hope you'll excuse my breaking in like this, doctor,
- 22:21I'll populater goodbye. That's all right, Stephen. I couldn't help overhearing
- 22:26my telephone conversation. That's the difference. I was about to call headquarters and
- 22:30contest anyhow. Oh, you killed Bertnard, that's about it. No,
- 22:36I didn't. But well, Robert isn't my name. It's Williams. George
- 22:40Williams is my brother. Oh, that keeps the whole thing in the family.
- 22:45Darius's testimony could have convicted your brother, and you were operating on him.
- 22:48That's kind of a sweet setup. Yes, I knew the police would
- 22:52say that, only you're overlooking this fact. Norris's testimony might also have cleared
- 22:59George, and I wanted that more than anything. That might have a pretty
- 23:03big word. I understand the light over the operating table went out when the
- 23:07switch outside the door was gone. Your brother was in the hospital, but
- 23:12he had gotten that close to the operating room without being seen. I don't
- 23:17know as telling name we could have. You think we had it arranged that
- 23:22he was to throw the switch and I was the sad Norris. I don't
- 23:25think anything, but it could have been done that way. You don't give
- 23:27me credit for very much intelligence, mister Stephens. When the investigation disclosed the
- 23:33fact that I was William's brother, wouldn't that be pretty obvious? Yes?
- 23:37If it would tell me something? Though, did your brother have thrown the
- 23:41switch outside the door and entered the room sad nurse and left before the emergency
- 23:45light was working? There was time enough for that, That's what you mean.
- 23:51That's all I've got to tell you, except that it didn't have to
- 23:52see my brother. It could have been anybody a mister X crazy. Yes,
- 23:56it could have sage more than seeing your brother and now seen the cool
- 24:02that's the hat school figure out that Norris is murderer. I hope you'll find
- 24:06your mysterday. Yes, me too. But until we find them, all
- 24:10we have now is a mystery. I'm saying, William, you had every
- 24:19reason in the world to kill Norris, and all the opportunity to. Why
- 24:22don't you get lost, Sergeant. You can't prove a thing except circumstances.
- 24:26Circumstances, he says. Guys have gone to the chair on circumstances evidence.
- 24:30A whole lot more have gone free. All right, I was in the
- 24:33hospital. Why shouldn't I been. I'm out on day. I can go
- 24:37where I like. Yeah, I want to take me downtown. All right,
- 24:41I'll go. You better have a reason for booking. I'll book you
- 24:44on suspicion, and I'll have you right where I want you. You're gonna
- 24:47have me right where I want you. I'll set up a yell that I'm
- 24:49being persecuted. That will take you out of plane, colsed into a uniform
- 24:52so fast you won't know what hit you. Okay, don't think you're scaring
- 24:56me. I'm not scaring Begging you to arrest me, begging me to arrest
- 25:02him, he says, I got a good imagine you had a good mind.
- 25:06You get out of here. You know I can't rupert take the conditions
- 25:15on the whisperg nor side. I understand the students doctor Robertson's in the operating
- 25:19room. Now, doctor Stone, your messages. They're waiting for him.
- 25:23How long has doctor Stone been at the hospital, nurse, I don't know,
- 25:27many years, I imagine. I'm relatively musier. Doctor Robertson and I
- 25:32came here together about six months ago. Where did he come from? Middle
- 25:36town upstate? He was doing general practition work to get experience. Actually got
- 25:40out of medical school. I was a minister my hometown. You came here
- 25:45with him? Why? Doesn't make much difference during this work student, there
- 25:49was a job somewhere for us to do, and doctor Robertson and I got
- 25:52on very well back home medical course, of course. So we're going to
- 25:57the operating room. Is that the room right through the swinging door? And
- 26:03that switch there in the wall? Who pulls the operating right? Yes,
- 26:06it is right. Let's go in and nurse in. As much as there's
- 26:11no social association between you and doctor roberts you better close the locket ask him,
- 26:17awfully, quit liceness of your caring air. Shall we go? Yes,
- 26:23I'll hold the door for you, Oh, doctor roberts Doctor, do
- 26:30you know what I'm trying to douse? Gentlemen? Yes, you know.
- 26:33All right, then, well you'll please take the positions we were in when
- 26:37the light went out during the operation on Britain Earth. I was standing right
- 26:40here at the head of the table. When I was on this side taking
- 26:42the pace full, I was about here on the way to the off.
- 26:47Does that check with everybody? I know it's the wire from the lamp goes
- 26:52into the wall pocket the massive switch outside off of the pa. Mm hmm,
- 26:57all right, now you please go through whatever routine you were doing when
- 27:02the light went out. See, doctor Stone had just told me the patient's
- 27:06post is normal. That's right in the doctor yes, And I asked Nurse
- 27:11Stanton to check the oxygen. All right, all right, I did that
- 27:17out then on my flash or what next, doctor, I don't know.
- 27:22I think I asked doctor Stone to find the emergency light in the corner against
- 27:26the wall and asked Nurse Stanton to see if the plug had come out of
- 27:30the socket. Is that correct? Then the plug had not come out of
- 27:33the socket. NuRD Santon, Well it has now I kicked it out.
- 27:37Now I'll just put it. Doctor Roberts, pick up the telephone. Doctor
- 27:45Roberts, will you please pick up the telephone. Let would be my wife.
- 27:48She always posed at this time. I'm sorry to Saton. Sorry,
- 27:56I have got to arrest you for the murder of Bert Norris william So only
- 28:07the two doctors and the nurse could have killed North. Why just tot Williams
- 28:10he could have done it, thrown the switch and found his way to the
- 28:12table in the dark door. I got it. No, it had to
- 28:15be one of the other three. But they were all in the operating room
- 28:18and the had thrown you. Oh, here's what happened. The nurse kicked
- 28:23the plug out of the light, just as I did, and then she
- 28:26sabb North. It took only a second nicle outside the door. I throw
- 28:30the twitch back in, Okay, but the plug was still out. Yeah,
- 28:33that's the first thing she did at Doctor robertson quest to Kee if the
- 28:37plug wasn't well, it wasn't. Of course, he put it back in.
- 28:41The light didn't go back on because she had thrown the switch. It's
- 28:44fine, But why did she do it? Well, she was in love
- 28:47with doctor Roberts. That's why he told me that. Now. See,
- 28:51she had threatened him that unless he divorced his wife and married her, she'd
- 28:55ruined his career. Well, even if he couldn't place the blame for narses
- 29:00murder on Robertson, the notoriety wouldn't have company motive. Well that's the payout,
- 29:06huh. If Norris was knocked up by him? What's the name again?
- 29:11Drew nurse? Nurse and she says not to you too, what's the
- 29:17name name? Welcome back? Well, this was an interesting setup, and
- 29:25I think that the solution definitely made sense. If it had been the surgeon
- 29:32who had committed the crime, I think it'd be more reasonable to expect that
- 29:37we would have a less obvious method of killing that was done because there would
- 29:45have been ways to commit the crime while the guy was out in a way
- 29:49that wouldn't make it look like the doctor was guilty. So it makes sense
- 29:56that that would be one of the intents. All right, Well, listener
- 30:00comments and feedback, and we start with an email from Joan Jones says,
- 30:06I just wanted to tell you I enjoyed today's story on Manhunt. I found
- 30:10it interesting and there was a little comedy in it too. I hope this
- 30:14is going to be become one of the new shows with more than a couple
- 30:18of episodes. Well, it's not going to be one of those that was
- 30:22extremely short, but there are only so many episodes. We have a grand
- 30:29total of fifteen episodes, so we have enough episodes for two more Johnny Dollar
- 30:37serials, and then once those are done, we will have two weeks where
- 30:44on Monday we'll have two episodes of Manhunt to round out the series before we
- 30:49get into Pursuit. But we have six episodes left. And Joan goes on
- 30:53to say it was too bad Frank Lovejoy's Here Comes mcbrian has so few episodes
- 31:00Anything with Frank Lovejoy in it I really enjoy, such as Not Beat,
- 31:03which I've listened to most of the episodes in the show. It is a
- 31:07really good program if you tend to air at anytime. Thanks so much,
- 31:11Joan, and we definitely intend to air it. And in some ways it's
- 31:15a good thing that Here Comes McBride didn't work out and become a show that
- 31:19lasted a year or two. I believe it at least did last the summer,
- 31:25but that it didn't last beyond that is good because then Frank Lovejoy was
- 31:30available to do Not Beat, which was a far better program, and it's
- 31:34one of those shows that has so many episodes in it. It's in the
- 31:40same class as Casey Crime Photographer and Sam Spade and The Falcon and Rocky Jordan,
- 31:48where we just have to find enough space for it. But it's one
- 31:52that I would look forward to doing, and I definitely enjoy Frank Lovejoy's taking
- 31:59that series. Gary comments, Hi, I'm nice April Fool's Day routine.
- 32:06You got me with that one. I didn't realize that what you were doing
- 32:09until you disclosed the spoof at the end of the podcast. Nice work,
- 32:15Thanks so much. Gary. Actually, this is two days after that I
- 32:21uploaded the podcast, and that's the first comment I heard back on it.
- 32:24At least that's when it's being recorded, so we'll see how many folks actually
- 32:30caught it. But I appreciate your comment. And then we have some comments
- 32:35from Facebook. Laurie says, I watched the Columbo series pilot Prescription Murder tonight
- 32:40and Virginia greg was in it. It is so cool to see her in
- 32:45person. She did her best work probably over radio, but she was just
- 32:51a true professional and everything she did. And then a comment from Travis,
- 32:55I'm an improviser studying the Second City in Chicago, and I started the podcast
- 33:00well at work to pick up on the lingo and style. Now without a
- 33:05doubt, hooked on Johnny Dollar. My posture literally tenses up during the intense
- 33:09moments, and I'm sure the people working next to me wonder what on earth
- 33:14I'm listening to keep up the great work. Well, thanks so much,
- 33:16Travis, and good luck on that training. I love improv and try to
- 33:28get to the local comedy, sports, family friendly improv here in Boise at
- 33:35least once a quarter. And it's just it's wonderful entertainment. All right.
- 33:42Well, that will actually do it for today. Join us back here tomorrow
- 33:46for police headquarters and we will resume on Monday with another Yours truly Johnny Dollar
- 33:52Cereal, and then we'll be back on Friday with another episode of Manhunt.
