- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Today is a very important day.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: It is the day that we all look to the heavens and think to ourselves, when do I gotta turn the goddarn heat on?
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, not yet.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: No.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: No!
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: No! Not even thinking about it.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Welcome! Well, at 8 o'clock tonight to the first day of fall!
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: Put on a Halloween sweatshirt today.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Winner! I have the Bride of Frankenstein on my sweatshirt.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, you are in.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: I'm in now.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I started yesterday with a sweatshirt, and then I thought, it was so great, let's do it again.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, sure, why not?
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: What do you love about fall?
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: Everything.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: And it being sweater weather.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Sweater.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Sure, everything.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: And just the bonfire.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: I go all out for fall and Halloween.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: It's just the absolute best.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: I start decorating pretty much the last week of August for my fall decor.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: And then come about the second week of September, I start decorating for Halloween.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: We do all the pumpkin patches, the apple cider, go do all the hay rides, like just everything.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Enjoy it as much as we can.
- 1:20SPEAKER_02: If we could have a little left, more fall, I would be thrilled.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Well, you got somebody to keep up with.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: I know, right?
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: I thought about decorating when am I gonna have time to do it?
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Because usually this is around the time that I would do it.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: But I think I'm gonna wait until I think next weekend.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: And that'll be the Halloween decor.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: You skip like the fall, just you know, here it is, rustic-y fall-y look.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: That look isn't for me.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: No, but you're more into the Halloween.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: It's funny, one of Lydia's friends, she had a play date on Sunday uh after her birthday party, and when I went to go pick her up, they were already putting up their decorations for Halloween.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, heck yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: I have a bunch of neighbors that have already done it.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: So my one neighbor, she does more of the fall thing, so hers is up.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: And then I have another neighbor.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: She's had the skeletons in her yard and the the um tombstones and everything for weeks.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: And she even has some some little sign that says like oops too early or something like that.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: It's really crazy.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: It's really, really cute.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Props to the guy on Water Street in West Elmira that has a skeleton pushing a lawnmower.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, I love it.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: You know the guy that's kitty corner to the prison that has a huge setup every year.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: And I've never been you were there one time at least.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, oh yeah.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: I every year I go that go to this place.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: And so I just drove by it.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: It was like a week and a half ago.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: I don't remember why I was down that street.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Probably going to the gym or something.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Well, I was down like his street.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: It might have been a Facebook marketplace exchange.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Who knows?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Anyway, so it was like down that side street, and then I came to the end right by the prison, and I looked to the left.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh my God, he's setting up already.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: And it kind of looks a little different this year.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: I don't know if anybody has been through it at all.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: Oh now, this is one of two things could have been happening.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: He had a lot of tarps set up.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: So I'm it did look like Tent City for a little bit.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: So I'm not sure if he's making a maze this year or or or even more like a haunted house.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Or was he having the tarps up to hide things until the grand reveal?
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure because I see it every day and the tarps are still up.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: So I'm kind of getting I it might be the grand reveal.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Because isn't it more of an outside little walkthrough like you just sort of visit his yard?
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was all like all open before, but I wasn't sure if he was mazing it up.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: But when I was there, well, when I was at the stop sign, he was outside.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: And I should have just stopped and asked him.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Did you put the one?
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: What's it gonna be?
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: But he was outside just you know, working away, yeah, getting it ready for us.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Dedication.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, so much dedication.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: And there's another place, another house, same road.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Uh what is that, Oakwood?
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Same road right there.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: If you come up, maybe I don't know, six, seven houses.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: As if you're going to Karen 7-Eleven?
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Like if you're coming down from the prison, going to Karen's 7-Eleven, or in my case, I go the other way.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: But uh, they've got a huge display up already.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: They they've got the 12-foot skeleton.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: It looks like a couple of different things.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: So they're they're getting ready on Oakwood.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: This is a good street for Halloween.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: I don't think there's going to be enough time to see everything.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: I already am predicting it already.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Just with everyone.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Well, considering we're going to get snow on Halloween this year, yes.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: I predicted it.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: No.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, between like we're starting next week at Montour Falls Harvest Festival.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: I feel like I have to cram in three things that day just to get all the fall activities that I want to get done done.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Because we're going to go apple picking right after the festival.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: And then come back to Montour because they're having fireworks over the falls.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: I know, that's a gorgeous event.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: And then right.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: And then I'm like, okay, wait a second, but when are we going to blow the glass pumpkins?
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: I guess we're going to do it the next day.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: That's a little easier to do because you're just going to the museum for that.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Totally.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: But I have to also work around a football schedule now.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Well, that's true.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, where am I going to fit it all in?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, Friday evening.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: I wonder if the museum stays open on a Friday night.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: That's actually not a bad idea.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Maybe if you you have to find out, see if you can do it.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Because really, do you want to go at like 10 in the morning on a Saturday?
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Not really.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, some people do, don't get me wrong.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: But I mean, in your case, it's like one day to be like, oh Friday after work isn't a bad idea, because then you can go do that and like go hit dinner somewhere.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: See if they have like the last appointment.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Like if they have a six o'clock, these guys are set.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Because that's usually home by like four thirty.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Glad to help you pull.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Oh, but this'll work.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Listen to me.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: It's probably book solid all the way through Christmas.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: But this'll work.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: I'll look.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: It's worth a shot.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Give it a try.
