- 0:00Forces at work in the world try to effectuate themselves and
- 0:04perpetuate their action. They seek for receptive vessels
- 0:09to manifest and carry out their line of action.
- 0:13As these waves of energy, these vibrations, move out into the
- 0:16world, they naturally come across elements and beings that
- 0:20are not subject to vibration within that range and thus do
- 0:25not react. They also come across those that
- 0:29are able to vibrate to the force that is moving and this sets up
- 0:33a sympathetic vibratory pattern or if passed along, a repeater
- 0:39or signal booster that enhances the impact of that vibration as
- 0:44it continues to move. If we look within ourselves, we
- 0:49can see what occurs. Someone comes and starts
- 0:53shouting in anger about something we may or may not have
- 0:56done that they are upset about. Or someone has their feelings
- 1:01hurt and a conversation gets out of hand.
- 1:04Soon there is a shouting match where even blows can be
- 1:07exchanged. We have responded to the
- 1:10vibration of anger with the sympathetic vibration of anger.
- 1:15Similarly, most people have been in situations where fear is
- 1:19being systematically promulgated, perhaps through the
- 1:22news media reporting or through armed confrontations.
- 1:28In the early 1970s, there were protests against the Vietnam War
- 1:32that took place in Washington, DC.
- 1:35The response of the government was to send highly armed and
- 1:38shielded police into the area to break up the crowds, arrest
- 1:42people, and put an end to the peaceful protests.
- 1:46The same thing took place in the late 1960s in other parts of the
- 1:50country. Many of the participants who
- 1:54were peaceful, law abiding and concerned citizens trying to let
- 1:58their government know about their concerns about the war
- 2:02experienced extreme instances of fear as the intimidation factor
- 2:07raised up the fear vibration within them.
- 2:11Various vital beings provoke responses in order to feed off
- 2:15of the energy released. Pandemic diseases tend to send
- 2:19out a wave of fear across broad swaths of the population.
- 2:24Similarly, an accident in a venue such as a stadium or club
- 2:29tends to spark a panic rush for the exits, and many people are
- 2:33injured in the ensuing crush. It is a quite common experience
- 2:39that is illustrated by these extreme examples, but which
- 2:43occurs daily in most lives. We can observe ourselves
- 2:47vibrating along with the energy that is coming at us, seen or
- 2:51unseen. We are, however, not meant to be
- 2:55puppets, playthings or victims to every force that moves in the
- 3:00world. We have certain capacities we
- 3:03can cultivate to reduce or even eliminate the corresponding
- 3:06sympathetic vibration within ourselves.
- 3:10This is the cultivation of equanimity which the Mother
- 3:13speaks about, the development of calm, peace and equality which
- 3:19Rio Robindo often references. As long as we are capable of
- 3:23receiving the vibration and allow ourselves to be captured
- 3:27by that vibration, we can recognize that we harbour that
- 3:31energy within ourselves. Otherwise we would be
- 3:36unshakeable and the vibration would simply pass us by.
- 3:41It is not by our human strength that we can overcome all these
- 3:44powerful forces. We need to be able to shift our
- 3:48focus and energy to a higher force that will vibrate within
- 3:53us at a level that neutralizes, rejects and in some cases even
- 3:58transforms the vibration as it reaches us.
- 4:03A disciple asks how is 1 to meet adverse forces, forces that are
- 4:09invisible and yet quite living and tangible?
- 4:13The mother writes quote. A great deal depends on the
- 4:17stage of development of your consciousness.
- 4:20At the beginning, if you have no special occult knowledge and
- 4:24power, the best you can do is to keep as quiet and peaceful as
- 4:29possible. If the attack takes the form of
- 4:32adverse suggestions, try quietly to push them away as you would
- 4:37some material object. The quieter you are, the
- 4:41stronger you become. The firm basis of all spiritual
- 4:46power is equanimity. You must not allow anything to
- 4:50disturb your poise. You can then resist every kind
- 4:54of attack. If, besides, you possess
- 4:58sufficient discernment and can see and catch the evil
- 5:02suggestions as they come to you, it becomes all the more easy for
- 5:07you to push them away. But sometimes they come
- 5:11unnoticed and then it is more difficult to fight them.
- 5:15When that happens, you must sit quiet and call down peace and a
- 5:20deep inner quietness. Hold yourself firm and call with
- 5:25confidence and faith. If your aspiration is pure and
- 5:29steady, you are sure to receive help.
- 5:34Attacks from adverse forces are inevitable.
- 5:37You have to take them as tests on your way and go courageously
- 5:41through the ordeal. The struggle may be hard, but
- 5:45when you come out of it, you have gained something, you have
- 5:49advanced a step. There's even a necessity for the
- 5:53existence of the hostile forces. They make your determination
- 5:57stronger, your aspiration clearer.
- 6:01It is true, however, that they exist because you gave them
- 6:05reason to exist. So long as there is something in
- 6:08you which answers to them, their intervention is perfectly
- 6:12legitimate. If nothing in you responded, if
- 6:17they had no hold upon any part of your nature, they would
- 6:20retire and leave you. In any case, they need not stop
- 6:25or hamper your spiritual progress.
- 6:29The only way to fail in your battle with the hostile forces
- 6:33is not to have a true confidence in the Divine help.
- 6:37Sincerity in the aspiration always brings down the required
- 6:42succour. A quiet call, a conviction that
- 6:46in this ascension towards the realization you are never
- 6:51walking all alone, and a faith that whenever help is needed, it
- 6:55is there. We'll lead you through easily
- 6:59and securely and quote reference Sri Aurobindo and the Mother
