- 1:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, very cool.
- 1:49SPEAKER_04: I uh I wouldn't even have uh thought of that.
- 1:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, six years.
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: Happy crazy.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: That is crazy.
- 1:58SPEAKER_03: That is crazy.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: Crazy.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: Six years doing doing this thing.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Um which, you know, is very cool.
- 2:06SPEAKER_04: Uh let's see.
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: What it look what I had a couple things to tell you.
- 2:11SPEAKER_04: Um did I tell you I was um No, I didn't tell you this, I don't think.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: So I got um just kind of nostalgic the other day, last week.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: And I um emailed a friend of mine who's uh still in the radio business, not locally, but down country a little bit.
- 2:33SPEAKER_10: And uh I said, Wait, you have friends outside of me?
- 2:37SPEAKER_10: A few?
- 2:38SPEAKER_10: That's not even right.
- 2:41SPEAKER_10: Uh I'm not I'm not listening to this story.
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: Anyway, I said I said uh do you know of anybody that's looking for voice, you know, voices?
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: Because I I miss doing production and stuff like that.
- 2:52SPEAKER_12: And he's like, Well, you know, you you can talk.
- 2:54SPEAKER_12: I do a pretty good porky pig.
- 2:57SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 2:59SPEAKER_10: Hi hole.
- 3:02SPEAKER_10: Um He'd be like, uh don't ever email me again.
- 3:07SPEAKER_04: Um anyway, he hooked me up, hooked me up with a guy and I uh it was a quick turnaround.
- 3:12SPEAKER_04: Guy sent me a script and I and I voiced it and sent it back, and hopefully it's gonna become a thing.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: Sweet.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: I'm not getting paid for it.
- 3:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but at least I can do it, you know, whenever something whenever I can.
- 3:24SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 3:24SPEAKER_04: You know, just just to keep my foot in the door, sort of.
- 3:27SPEAKER_04: Um so anyway, that happened.
- 3:30SPEAKER_04: Uh I gotta tell you what I wanted to tell you that was a cute story was I had uh a kindergarten class yesterday.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: I think it was yesterday.
- 3:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was yesterday, because today's today's Tuesday.
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: Correct.
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: So uh kindergarten class, you know, kind of came into my music room for for their music class, and the teacher said, uh Ms.
- 3:52SPEAKER_04: You know, we ha we have a new student.
- 3:55SPEAKER_04: I said, Oh, yeah.
- 3:58SPEAKER_04: Like a new student in April.
- 4:00SPEAKER_10: I was saying the same thing.
- 4:01SPEAKER_10: Why would you have a new student in April?
- 4:03SPEAKER_04: New student in April.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: Why would you do that to a kid?
- 4:05SPEAKER_04: Oh, hold on.
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: So this is uh this is Chloe.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: She comes to us from Ashland and I said, Oh.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: And she was very shy, and she like looked at the floor and was just, you know, you know, quiet and just didn't have any friends yet.
- 4:23SPEAKER_04: She didn't know what to think, right?
- 4:26SPEAKER_04: And and it was her first day, and so she comes and sits down, and I kind of everybody settles down.
- 4:31SPEAKER_04: I said, Chloe, I have uh I have friends in Ashland.
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: And she just kind of looked at me, you know.
- 4:37SPEAKER_04: I said, Chloe, do you know who my uh best friend is?
- 4:42SPEAKER_04: And she's just like my best friend, and of course like all the other kids are going, Me! Yeah, do you know who my best friend is?
- 4:51SPEAKER_04: And she's like, No.
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: And I said, Mr.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: Doug.
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: And she went, you probably don't remember her.
- 5:02SPEAKER_10: I do actually now that now that you mentioned it, I was like, because I had the k I had kin uh no, I had pre-K today.
- 5:08SPEAKER_10: But I I didn't remember I saw the pre I saw the kindergarten going to Mr.
- 5:12SPEAKER_10: Simon off's music class today from my room and from my perch in the art room.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 5:18SPEAKER_10: And uh I was like, oh, must be, you know, there's there there was some absence, so I didn't even think of it.
- 5:24SPEAKER_10: But now that you m okay, that makes that makes sense.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: So she she transferred to to Prescott, I guess.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: You know isolating here.
- 5:31SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 5:32SPEAKER_04: I you know, I don't know the circumstances, but I I do know that as soon as I said Mr.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: Doug, she kind of blushed and smiled.
- 5:39SPEAKER_04: I know who you're talking about.
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: And I moved and I moved on, you know.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: I said Mr.
- 5:43SPEAKER_04: Doug is my best friend.
- 5:47SPEAKER_09: Of course, some one of the other kids was like, Who's Mr.
- 5:49SPEAKER_09: Doug?
- 5:51SPEAKER_09: Of course.
- 5:54SPEAKER_09: So I thought that's funny.
- 5:55SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, that's I mean, I hopefully that helped her like I I think so because I mean she participated in everything we were doing.
- 6:01SPEAKER_04: Okay, good, you know, and and was dancing around and stuff.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: So it was good.
- 6:05SPEAKER_04: I think I think it was a good it was there was a good impression there.
- 6:07SPEAKER_04: Wonderful.
- 6:08SPEAKER_04: Um the other thing I went to um went to pick up um something.
- 6:14SPEAKER_04: Actually, no, I I went to just kind of kill time to KMH the other day because I had to pick up my daughter uh from Trek.
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: And so I was I was hanging out with with uh um Chris and down in uh KMH and he was with a customer and then he's like the customer leaves and he says, Hey, um uh do you uh want a couple of Bruce Springsteen books?
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: And I said, No.
- 6:39SPEAKER_04: Just automatically, no, I don't want to.
- 6:41SPEAKER_04: Well I do need Kinling.
- 6:42SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: And uh he said, Yeah, you know, some guy came in and he said, Yeah, you're a music store, you could do something with these.
- 6:50SPEAKER_04: And so he gave me these books.
- 6:51SPEAKER_04: I was like, Oh, wait a second, what kind of books are they?
- 6:54SPEAKER_04: And he took them out.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: And so are they song books?
- 6:57SPEAKER_04: No.
- 6:59SPEAKER_04: It's a biography.
- 7:01SPEAKER_04: Oh this is a biography and an autobiography.
- 7:03SPEAKER_04: I'm like, oh no, I'll take those.
- 7:04SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 7:05SPEAKER_04: Well, that's interesting.
- 7:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, that's good, right?
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so so free books.
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: Wow, cool.
- 7:10SPEAKER_04: Um, so it was very cool.
- 7:12SPEAKER_04: And I don't know when I'll get around to reading them, but I figure when I retire or I die tire, one or the other.
- 7:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:18SPEAKER_04: Um I'll I I've got a whole book.
- 7:20SPEAKER_04: You've got a stack.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: I do, I have a stack.
- 7:22SPEAKER_04: Uh speaking of books, I read this one book books in a week.
- 7:28SPEAKER_04: Uh, which is fast for me, and there's a reason I read it in a week.
- 7:32SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna give it to you.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: Um this is called Raised on Radio, 1976 to 1986.
- 7:39SPEAKER_04: Power Ballads, Cocaine, and Tayola.
- 7:43SPEAKER_04: The ALR Glory Years.
- 7:46SPEAKER_04: I love that title.
- 7:47SPEAKER_04: And it is it is uh there are this isn't this is my kind of book.
- 7:51SPEAKER_04: Let me tell you, let me tell you why.
- 7:53SPEAKER_04: There are uh 77 chapters.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: They're probably really short.
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: Very short.
- 7:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're very short chapters, and all it is is little bites from Oh, so it's like uh that nothing but a good time black.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: Yes, okay, that's exactly right.
- 8:09SPEAKER_04: It's such an easy read.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, you'll be able to do that.
- 8:11SPEAKER_04: And the funniest parts, I guarantee I guarantee, and it's but this is the AOR years.
- 8:16SPEAKER_04: So we're talking uh Journey, Foreigner, Arya Speedwagon, uh let's see, Brian Adams, Pat Benatar, Def Leopard, um Cheap Trick, all these bands that were like rock bands from 1976 to 1986, the kind of the growing of that.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 8:38SPEAKER_04: And they they talked about the good and the bad.
- 8:40SPEAKER_04: And the and you won't you know you'll understand when I say that the funniest parts of this book are little little bites from Steve Lucather.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: Oh, of course they are.
- 8:52SPEAKER_04: Dude's hysterical.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: Oh my word.
- 8:54SPEAKER_04: The stuff that comes out of his mouth, holy cow.
- 8:57SPEAKER_04: Uh let's see.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: Uh no, there was there was I'll have to tell you about it after after the podcast, but I'm gonna give that to you.
- 9:06SPEAKER_04: Sweet.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: Because I read that like in in a leak, literally a week, seven days.
- 9:10SPEAKER_04: Where'd you get this?
- 9:11SPEAKER_04: I got it at um um Bam down in uh down in Bangor, yeah.
- 9:16SPEAKER_04: Uh it was on that that that music trip that I took with the Oh right, right, right, yeah.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: I took those kids to you didn't even mention this, man.
- 9:22SPEAKER_04: Uh I took those kids to to BAM.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: Those were like four or four or five kids, and and I bought that.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: So but I started reading it last Monday and I finished it yesterday.
- 9:31SPEAKER_04: I mean, it because I was like, this is the kind of stuff I want to read about.
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: You know, yeah.
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: It was it was really cool.
- 9:37SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 9:37SPEAKER_04: So uh raised on radio.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: Who's it the author?
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: Uh Paul Rees.
- 9:41SPEAKER_04: Paul Rees.
- 9:42SPEAKER_04: I think he's from Britain, but uh British.
- 9:45SPEAKER_04: I don't know who did the Nothing But a Good Time book.
- 9:46SPEAKER_10: Do you know who did it?
- 9:47SPEAKER_10: I can't remember now.
- 9:48SPEAKER_10: I'd have to look at the cover.
- 9:50SPEAKER_03: Because I'm curious, I've never seen a book written like that before.
- 9:53SPEAKER_10: No, this is it looks exactly like how that one was done.
- 9:57SPEAKER_10: But a good time book.
- 10:02SPEAKER_10: Uh that song, Mr.
- 10:03SPEAKER_10: Robardo, that was the about the dumbest idea ever.
- 10:07SPEAKER_04: Is that on there?
- 10:09SPEAKER_04: I know that's what I mean.
- 10:11SPEAKER_04: I eat it up, dude.
- 10:12SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's it's it's really good.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: No, I was gonna say, nothing about a good time was written by Richard Beanstock and Tom Beaujour.
- 10:19SPEAKER_10: Oh, okay.
- 10:19SPEAKER_04: Okay, but yeah, I uh if it was written.
- 10:22SPEAKER_10: I think the I think they're on the documentary too, the one that was on uh Paramount.
- 10:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did watch that.
- 10:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did watch that.
- 10:28SPEAKER_04: But I like the way it was written.
- 10:29SPEAKER_10: Yeah, this is exactly how that's written, is just these like short like anecdotes and you know, yeah, and and I guarantee you, I mean, if I could read that in a week, you could read that in about three days.
- 10:41SPEAKER_10: I'll start immediately.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: Excuse me.
- 10:44SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 10:47SPEAKER_04: Wait, wait till after the podcast.
- 10:49SPEAKER_12: Oh, okay.
- 10:50SPEAKER_12: You didn't you didn't specify.
- 10:52SPEAKER_04: Um so yeah, and then we have gigs coming up.
- 10:55SPEAKER_10: This is gonna be a busy weekend for you you had a you know, you had the play on Saturday.
- 11:00SPEAKER_10: I did.
- 11:00SPEAKER_10: On Saturday.
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's right, and you came.
- 11:02SPEAKER_10: Yeah, and that was fun.
- 11:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:03SPEAKER_04: Um, so we did uh it was the um descendants, yes, Disney's Descendants, and it was a shorter musical because I mean it's a it's a small school and um and so uh John asked me to to play guitar.
- 11:19SPEAKER_04: I didn't, you know, he I showed up the first rehearsal, and uh it was he and Sarah were there playing piano, right?
- 11:26SPEAKER_04: Just like they were that night.
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 11:28SPEAKER_04: And uh he's like uh I don't and because I showed up on on a Monday, they started rehearsing at 2 30.
- 11:36SPEAKER_04: I couldn't get there till 3 15.
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 11:38SPEAKER_04: So I showed up and plugged all my stuff in, and um I'm looking on with Sarah, and he goes, I don't have any music for you.
- 11:48SPEAKER_04: I said, Okay, so am I just making stuff up or he says, No, I'll I'll print some stuff off off for you.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: You know, I'll copy it or whatever.
- 11:57SPEAKER_04: Well, it looks like you had a legit book.
- 11:58SPEAKER_04: No, he made it.
- 11:59SPEAKER_04: He made that book.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: He made that, yes.
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: That's impressive.
- 12:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I thought that was like a legit book.
- 12:03SPEAKER_04: No, he uh no, he actually the the spine thing or whatever, yeah, he put that all together.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: Um, and he but he only gave me the music that he wanted me to play in.
- 12:14SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 12:14SPEAKER_04: So half the time I'm lost.
- 12:16SPEAKER_10: Oh, that explains a lot.
- 12:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 12:18SPEAKER_10: Because I was sitting there, I was like looking, I was looking at like Sarah's music.
- 12:22SPEAKER_10: And mine.
- 12:22SPEAKER_10: And then I was looking at Jeremy's, and I'm like, Yeah, they're not even the same.
- 12:26SPEAKER_10: No, so I had to so they're not they're not even on the same page.
- 12:30SPEAKER_04: Literally.
- 12:31SPEAKER_04: So so what I had to do is at the beginning he gave me a a complete list of every song, and so I would go uh and mark the ones that I had.
- 12:42SPEAKER_04: Oh right, and so I'd play something, and then I look at Sarah and she's got something else coming up, so I look at my list, I'm like, oh, okay, three more songs and I'm playing.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: You know, right?
- 12:54SPEAKER_04: It was strange, but it was fun, you know.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: I mean we uh um and I think the kids had fun.
- 12:59SPEAKER_04: It was no they did it was that fun.
- 13:01SPEAKER_04: It was so cool that uh that when you came and you sat down and they were peeking through the curtain, and it's like duck, duck.
- 13:07unknown: Oh yeah.
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:09SPEAKER_04: I think that made their night actually.
- 13:12SPEAKER_10: I was looking forward to it and I wanted to be there.
- 13:14SPEAKER_10: So it was they did a really good job.
- 13:16SPEAKER_10: I thought it was very impressed, you know.
- 13:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 13:18SPEAKER_10: Because they're I mean, you know, like you said, it's a small school, so it was all middle school and high school kids.
- 13:22SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 13:23SPEAKER_10: And there was for God's sake, there was only one boy in the whole play.
- 13:26SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 13:26SPEAKER_10: You know, and he had a he had a very minor role, but but he actually wanted it that way.
- 13:31SPEAKER_10: I remember when they were doing auditions, they wanted him to do like a bigger part, yeah, but he just couldn't do it because of his schedule.
- 13:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:38SPEAKER_10: But he said, I'll I'll do something.
- 13:39SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 13:40SPEAKER_10: So he that's why for him.
- 13:42SPEAKER_04: Because there's not a lot of guys that that that do that.
- 13:44SPEAKER_04: We have the same problem at the at the high school that I work at.
- 13:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_04: You know, there's not a lot of guys that want to, especially musicals.
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think if it was a play, it might be different, but yeah, musicals they they don't necessarily.
- 13:57SPEAKER_04: It might be.
- 13:58SPEAKER_10: I think it's the dance.
- 13:58SPEAKER_10: I don't know, I don't necessarily think it's the singing, because I I mean, you know, there's a lot of guys that can sing.
- 14:02SPEAKER_10: Sure.
- 14:03SPEAKER_10: But I think it's the dancing part.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:05SPEAKER_04: That might be true.
- 14:06SPEAKER_10: That might be like, mmm, no.
- 14:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_10: You know.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:10SPEAKER_10: I I I get it.
- 14:12SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 14:12SPEAKER_10: But that's why I like that's why fan Phantom of the Opera is my favorite one.
- 14:16SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 14:16SPEAKER_10: Because there's the Phantom doesn't have to dance.
- 14:20SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 14:20SPEAKER_10: He just has to be scary.
- 14:22SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 14:22SPEAKER_10: You know, or mysterious.
- 14:24SPEAKER_10: Well, not scary, but well, he is scary.
- 14:25SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 14:26SPEAKER_10: But mysterious, you know, he's not, he's not taking part in the dance numbers.
- 14:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:29SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 14:30SPEAKER_04: Did I tell you that I figured out I think one of the reasons, one of the main reasons that I don't care for musicals?
- 14:36SPEAKER_10: Did I tell you this?
- 14:37SPEAKER_10: I know you don't like them, but you never said a reasonable per se.
- 14:41SPEAKER_04: Well, here I think I think I figured it out, or at least part of it.
- 14:44SPEAKER_04: And that play, that musical, The Descendants, is not a good example of it because I didn't mind that.
- 14:50SPEAKER_04: Um so my daughter the other day was watching the new um uh Wicked.
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: Um, the second movie?
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: The second one, yeah.
- 15:01SPEAKER_04: She was watching it on TV the other day.
- 15:03SPEAKER_04: And the lady was singing, and it was just annoying to me.
- 15:08SPEAKER_04: It was just really annoying.
- 15:09SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, why why can't I why don't I like and I'll tell you why.
- 15:13SPEAKER_04: There's no melody to remember.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: Like she's just singing.
- 15:18SPEAKER_04: It's like especially when she's scatting.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there's no melody to it.
- 15:27SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 15:28SPEAKER_04: You know, when she's doing she's singing this song, and of course, I'm I know I'm wrong, or I'm gonna be told I'm wrong, because all of these big fans of Wicked, they can sing me every song.
- 15:38SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 15:38SPEAKER_10: That's like that's like you know, gospel to them, yeah.
- 15:43SPEAKER_04: But there's no hook to me.
- 15:45SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 15:46SPEAKER_04: As maybe as a songwriter, or just somebody who likes a hook.
- 15:49SPEAKER_04: You like hooks, yeah.
- 15:50SPEAKER_04: And a in a in a chorus or I'm gonna be a good one.
- 15:52SPEAKER_10: Well, that's what you want.
- 15:53SPEAKER_10: I mean, you know, look at look at Greece.
- 15:54SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 15:55SPEAKER_10: It's got all kinds of hooks in it.
- 15:56SPEAKER_04: And maybe that's why I don't mind it.
- 15:58SPEAKER_04: Maybe that's why I like it.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: So uh, and I was telling this to Sarah uh when we were getting ready for the play, and then we started playing the songs, and I'm like, I'm rotten to the core.
- 16:10SPEAKER_04: That's a hook.
- 16:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:11SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 16:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:12SPEAKER_04: Or you know, we're better together.
- 16:15SPEAKER_04: Well, I think that's that's a melody.
- 16:17SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it's well, I think it's more of a modern musical.
- 16:19SPEAKER_10: It's not it's not a you know, it's not a yeah, you know, it doesn't take place, it's not in a time period or a fantasy.
- 16:26SPEAKER_10: Well it's kind of fantasy, but yeah, you know, but it's more it's more modern, it's like hip hop ish and what not Wizard of Oz.
- 16:36SPEAKER_10: Would you consider the Wizard of Oz a musical?
- 16:38SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 16:39SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 16:39SPEAKER_10: There's hooks.
- 16:40SPEAKER_10: There's hooks, yeah.
- 16:41SPEAKER_10: There's hooks all through that.
- 16:42SPEAKER_10: But I mean, music was way better than then.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: Well, that's probably true.
- 16:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm just saying.
- 16:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's probably true.
- 16:46SPEAKER_10: You know, Judy Garland.
- 16:47unknown: Come on.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 16:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:50SPEAKER_04: Uh so anyway, yeah, that was fun.
- 16:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, doing the musicals.
- 16:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it was really well done.
- 16:53SPEAKER_04: Um, and speaking of music, I did tell I did ask some of the kids today.
- 16:58SPEAKER_10: I was like, uh, what are you gonna do with all your free time?
- 17:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
- 17:03SPEAKER_10: I I said the same thing to John.
- 17:04SPEAKER_10: I said, I said, What are you gonna do with all your free time?
- 17:06SPEAKER_10: He's like, I'm gonna go home.
- 17:08SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 17:09SPEAKER_10: He was so excited, he's like, yesterday, got done school, I went home.
- 17:12SPEAKER_10: I was like, dude, nice.
- 17:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's he's a busy guy, especially during this this time of year.
- 17:19SPEAKER_04: Um anyway, uh, and I did I tell you that I I am probably not going to make that washburn gig.
- 17:26SPEAKER_04: The skinny on the game.
- 17:27SPEAKER_04: You did not say that.
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: The skinny I t well I told Sarah and I told Chris, and there's like I understand.
- 17:33SPEAKER_04: You know, because I took the Friday before off.
- 17:36SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 17:36SPEAKER_04: You know, you gotta go to Jude's graduation.
- 17:39SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 17:39SPEAKER_04: And I've just taken so many days off this this year, and so I just I'm not even gonna put in for it because I know I either I won't get it or I'll just feel guilty about it.
- 17:49SPEAKER_04: And so um I told Chris, and I think I told Sarah too, I said, You guys could play that without me.
- 17:55SPEAKER_04: And and uh Chris was like, Yeah, Joel's always said that you know, if I have to, I you know, I will.
- 18:00SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 18:00SPEAKER_04: So I mean you guys will have no problem to play that game.
- 18:02SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it just won't be as much fun.
- 18:04SPEAKER_04: Well, that's not true.
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: You guys will have fun.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: Um Well, I won't have as much fun.
- 18:09SPEAKER_04: Well, I believe that.
- 18:10SPEAKER_10: So uh That's what I really meant to say.
- 18:14SPEAKER_04: Um But yeah, speaking of gigs, so we have uh our annual is it annual?
- 18:20SPEAKER_04: Or do we do we do it twice a year?
- 18:22SPEAKER_04: We do it once a year.
- 18:23SPEAKER_10: Sometimes we do it twice a year.
- 18:25SPEAKER_10: Lately we'd only do it once a year.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:27SPEAKER_04: We do our school shows.
- 18:28SPEAKER_04: Uh the Star City Syndicate is going to Wisdom High School in uh St.
- 18:34SPEAKER_04: Agatha.
- 18:35SPEAKER_10: Well, actually wisdom school period.
- 18:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that's true.
- 18:37SPEAKER_10: Because they're all in the same building.
- 18:38SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 18:39SPEAKER_04: And are we playing for all of them?
- 18:41SPEAKER_10: Uh it's my understanding.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 18:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 18:43SPEAKER_10: Same with Matawaska.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: So we're playing Wisdom uh in the morning and then Matawasca in the afternoon.
- 18:49SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: And we're just we're just doing our thing, playing a playing a show and talking about how important music is in schools and so on and so forth.
- 18:57SPEAKER_04: And the only thing that I mean, I I love playing, especially for the kids, but I get a day off from work.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm saying, man.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 19:05SPEAKER_10: I mean, so tomorrow for me is well it's gonna be nice because both of those schools, um like a couple weeks ago they had the beginning band festival in Ashland.
- 19:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 19:18SPEAKER_10: They helped out with that.
- 19:20SPEAKER_10: And Charles was there.
- 19:21SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_10: And he brought a bunch of kids, British or fifth graders.
- 19:24SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 19:24SPEAKER_10: And the other guy, the new guy in Matawasco.
- 19:27SPEAKER_10: Chance, I think.
- 19:27SPEAKER_10: Chance isn't it?
- 19:28SPEAKER_10: Yeah, chance.
- 19:29SPEAKER_10: Uh, he brought a bunch of people, kids from down from Madawaska.
- 19:32SPEAKER_10: So I was like, oh right, so they're getting some, you know, they got some band programs up there now.
- 19:36SPEAKER_04: Good, good, good.
- 19:36SPEAKER_10: Because I know Fort Kent is just like hurting for yeah, yeah, they're hurting.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: So yeah, no, that'll be that'll be uh a lot of fun.
- 19:45SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 19:45SPEAKER_04: Uh playing playing for kids uh through the day.
- 19:48SPEAKER_10: Well, I'll play for kids any day of the week, especially on Sunday.
- 19:50SPEAKER_10: Right, exactly.
- 19:51SPEAKER_10: It's so much fun.
- 19:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:52SPEAKER_04: So and they don't really care what kind of music it is.
- 19:54SPEAKER_10: No, they just they just like music.
- 19:56SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 19:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:57SPEAKER_10: Um and of course it's Friday and they're not in class, so that's that's a plus.
- 20:01SPEAKER_10: Exactly.
- 20:01SPEAKER_10: Same with me.
- 20:02SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 20:02SPEAKER_10: We're all Friday.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: And then Saturday, we are going down to uh Holton to um well, I'm doing a guitar clinic and you're doing a drum clinic.
- 20:13SPEAKER_10: No, I'm doing a front man clinic.
- 20:15SPEAKER_10: Oh, that's right.
- 20:15SPEAKER_04: You're not doing Chris is doing Chris is doing the drum clinic.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: Um I got a I got a message from uh uh Kevin Mania to the Yeah, I did too.
- 20:23SPEAKER_04: Uh he's like, here's what I was thinking that you could uh you could teach or show the kids.
- 20:28SPEAKER_04: And uh one of them was uh I don't remember what it was, but he he I had to make a joke because uh I want to tell you exactly what he said here uh he said how to make a beginning lead like for soloing with patterns.
- 20:49SPEAKER_04: And then a couple of the things he said.
- 20:51SPEAKER_04: And I said, Um is someone gonna teach me how uh uh to do this?
- 20:59SPEAKER_04: Laugh out loud.
- 21:00SPEAKER_04: And then I said, seriously though, I'm trying to understand what you mean, just how to build a solo.
- 21:04SPEAKER_04: Uh and then I asked him a bunch of questions, and he said, uh, we're having two sessions.
- 21:09SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 21:10SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 21:10SPEAKER_04: So and I'm having just guitar players, which is great, which is kind of the way it should be.
- 21:15SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 21:15SPEAKER_04: Um, because last last time we did it, it was the full band, and the full band came down and played for us.
- 21:20SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 21:21SPEAKER_04: Or and if they didn't play for us, they they watched their guitar player, you know, get some tips or whatever.
- 21:27SPEAKER_04: Um, so I think it'll be fun.
- 21:29SPEAKER_04: You're gonna you're gonna do the front man thing.
- 21:31SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that's gonna suck.
- 21:33SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 21:33SPEAKER_10: Nah, I just I don't know what I'm doing.
- 21:35SPEAKER_10: Well but you know what works.
- 21:38SPEAKER_10: I do, yeah.
- 21:39SPEAKER_10: Sort of.
- 21:39SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 21:40SPEAKER_10: Uh yeah, you know, I just know what I do.
- 21:42SPEAKER_10: Well, I mean I mean, I can't I can't speak for them.
- 21:45SPEAKER_10: I mean, because these kids might actually have talent.
- 21:48SPEAKER_10: It's so I mean I don't you know, I don't I'm like Okay, first of all, you need some tattoos.
- 21:55SPEAKER_10: All right, and then you need to gain about two hundred pounds, right?
- 22:00SPEAKER_10: Shave your head.
- 22:01SPEAKER_10: All right?
- 22:02SPEAKER_10: Once you get that, then just get up there and act like an idiot.
- 22:06SPEAKER_10: And you're good.
- 22:08SPEAKER_10: Class dismissed.
- 22:10SPEAKER_04: Well, no, I mean I mean teach them to move around and use up the yeah, th that's what I was thinking.
- 22:17SPEAKER_10: I was just like, you know, let's let's let's talk about you know what you like best about being a friend, but be singing, you know.
- 22:26SPEAKER_10: What what what don't you like about it?
- 22:28SPEAKER_10: You know, let's let's talk about it.
- 22:30SPEAKER_04: Then we can talk about and the band members are your friends.
- 22:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:34SPEAKER_10: Right?
- 22:34SPEAKER_10: So like you know, you gotta be you gotta be a unit.
- 22:36SPEAKER_04: You gotta be a team.
- 22:37SPEAKER_04: So like when you're singing and there's a guitar solo, you're gonna go up to the guitar player and play with you know, hang out with a guitar player.
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:44SPEAKER_04: Kind of showcase that person.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: You know, so I mean it's one one you you will excel.
- 22:48SPEAKER_04: I'll figure something you'll excel.
- 22:50SPEAKER_10: You know, I mean I'm you know, I I I don't know.
- 22:53SPEAKER_10: I hope he's not expecting me to have like a outline.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: No, I'm not I don't have to.
- 22:57SPEAKER_04: Okay, good.
- 22:58SPEAKER_10: I don't, you know, I'm just gonna go.
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: I told him I said I'll I'll I'll teach him well, uh I'll teach him how to you know how to start a solo or how to figure out where to where to be uh when you're when you have a solo.
- 23:09SPEAKER_04: Okay, first get a guitar.
- 23:11SPEAKER_04: Uh I was thinking uh with how to build a solo, finding a couple of notes in a key that they could use to start learning how to play something improv.
- 23:18SPEAKER_04: Um like so they could jam.
- 23:20SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 23:21SPEAKER_04: I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's not a problem.
- 23:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:23SPEAKER_04: We can figure that out.
- 23:25SPEAKER_04: Um and I I said it also depends on you know what level they're at.
- 23:30SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 23:30SPEAKER_04: If they're just starting out, then some of it's gonna be hard to understand.
- 23:33SPEAKER_04: You know, but if they've been playing for a little while, then they may they may get it.
- 23:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: So we'll see.
- 23:38SPEAKER_04: I mean it'll it'll be fun.
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: But that's you know, we go until the early afternoon, I think, for that.
- 23:43SPEAKER_04: Um, and then you and I are playing a new place Saturday night.
- 23:48SPEAKER_04: Caribou.
- 23:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're playing the Sizzle and Slice and Caribou, so and which I'm hearing great things about.
- 23:54SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of people playing there.
- 23:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah, as I like saying there's a lot of Marionette's gonna be there.
- 23:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they have full band nights.
- 23:59SPEAKER_10: I think Wally's been there.
- 24:01SPEAKER_04: Or is going to be, or going to be, yeah, one or the other.
- 24:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, one or the other.
- 24:04SPEAKER_04: So um so yeah, I think it's uh I think it'll be it'll be cool.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: And I um I like that.
- 24:09SPEAKER_04: I like playing new places.
- 24:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:11SPEAKER_04: Because we try and win people over.
- 24:12SPEAKER_10: You know, I mean Well, it's only we're only uh m uh correct me if I'm wrong, but we're only playing for a couple hours, correct?
- 24:18SPEAKER_04: No, well, three hours.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: Oh, so it is three hours.
- 24:20SPEAKER_04: It is, but it's from five to eight.
- 24:22SPEAKER_10: Oh, right, right, right.
- 24:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so we get we'll get out of there by eight o'clock.
- 24:25SPEAKER_10: Oh, that'd be nice.
- 24:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's not too late.
- 24:27SPEAKER_10: So um But I mean, we you know, we gotta bring our A game.
- 24:30SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 24:31SPEAKER_10: You know, just do the good stuff.
- 24:33SPEAKER_10: So that'll take about twenty minutes.
- 24:35SPEAKER_10: Twenty minutes.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: So and then uh then actually we should just tell stories or resonate.
- 24:41SPEAKER_04: We should split it up though.
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: Ten minutes of good stuff, then the rest is fluff, and then we end with the good stuff.
- 24:46SPEAKER_10: I I think that's a I think that's a winning formula.
- 24:49SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 24:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, absolutely.
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that works for me.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: Um what what else was I gonna say?
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: Uh so yeah.
- 24:58SPEAKER_04: Oh, so um I gotta figure out where I'm gonna put my kid because uh one of the um I have all this stuff going on this weekend, and that's why I can't go on Eli's college trip.
- 25:11SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: So uh Teresa is tr driving Eli down to uh Vermont to go to look at Norwich University, which is a military school by the way.
- 25:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yep.
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: And then they're going to uh Boston uh to Wentworth.
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: Boston.
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're going to Wentworth to uh kind of tour that.
- 25:29SPEAKER_04: And I'm making Finn go with them because Oh yeah, Eli did say he was Finn was probably going.
- 25:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I'm making Finn go because you know Eli is gonna get caught up, you know, with you know, he's gonna be going off by himself probably.
- 25:44SPEAKER_04: Oh, doing yeah, doing you know, doing tour stuff.
- 25:46SPEAKER_04: Tour stuff.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:48SPEAKER_04: And I don't want her alone.
- 25:50SPEAKER_04: So she so uh Finn's gonna go with her and stay and stay with her, which is which is you know and they're also this is kind of cool, um Teresa's uh old roommate from college.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: Uh you never met Shannon, did you?
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: No, I don't know.
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: No, no.
- 26:07SPEAKER_04: Um she lives in Vermont.
- 26:08SPEAKER_04: She lives about 15 minutes away from the school.
- 26:11SPEAKER_04: Okay either the school or where they're staying at the hotel.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: I don't remember what it was.
- 26:14SPEAKER_04: But they're gonna go and and have dinner with her.
- 26:16SPEAKER_04: Oh that's kind of cool.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: That's good.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: And she hasn't seen her in I don't know, at least a decade.
- 26:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:22SPEAKER_04: At least a decade.
- 26:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:24SPEAKER_04: She I think she saw her at the the anniversary, the the reunion.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 26:28SPEAKER_04: Some 30th reunion, 20th reunion.
- 26:30SPEAKER_04: I don't know what it was.
- 26:31SPEAKER_04: 30th.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: It had to be 30th, I think.
- 26:33SPEAKER_04: Anyway.
- 26:34SPEAKER_04: So that'll be nice.
- 26:35SPEAKER_08: That's good.
- 26:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:37SPEAKER_04: Uh so I gotta figure out what I'm what I'm doing with uh Myra on Saturday.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: On Saturday.
- 26:44SPEAKER_04: So we shall see.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: Anyway, those are our plans for this coming weekend.
- 26:48SPEAKER_04: Uh musically Oh, and tomorrow tomorrow's a half day for me.
- 26:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, is it?
- 26:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:56SPEAKER_04: So we're we're and I'm speaking of that, I gotta I gotta message my music department because supposedly we're we have a profession uh professional day uh in service after at you know, we get out early.
- 27:06SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 27:06SPEAKER_04: And we have in service for the rest of the day.
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: And they're supposed to be preparing for the big move.
- 27:11SPEAKER_10: Oh, right, right.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: But what are we supposed to do?
- 27:15SPEAKER_10: Because when we bring boxes.
- 27:18SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, the music department, we don't even know where we're going to be.
- 27:22SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 27:23SPEAKER_04: I mean, I was told.
- 27:24SPEAKER_04: Are you talking about zipple?
- 27:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, no, no.
- 27:26SPEAKER_04: Uh did I tell you this?
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: Okay, so um this is going out in public, not that anybody listens.
- 27:32SPEAKER_04: Um, not that anybody in my district listens, but um they're trying to figure out where to put the music teachers and and the art teachers.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: Let me take a drink.
- 27:43SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry.
- 27:50SPEAKER_04: Brought to you by Sparkling Ice Lifesavers with strawberry flavor.
- 27:53SPEAKER_04: Strawberry.
- 27:54SPEAKER_10: Strawberry.
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: Um, so my my life is gonna change next year.
- 27:59SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: I don't know if I told you this or not.
- 28:01SPEAKER_10: Well, I know that they're closing the zippel school and they're moving everybody around.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 28:06SPEAKER_10: So apparently they're putting everybody over at the middle school and taking the middle school kids and putting them in the high school.
- 28:13SPEAKER_04: Only two grades, seventh and eighth.
- 28:15SPEAKER_10: Oh, only seventh and eighth.
- 28:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, seventh and eighth are going to the high school.
- 28:18SPEAKER_10: Okay, that makes more sense.
- 28:19SPEAKER_04: Um, and uh m the middle school will become second through sixth.
- 28:25SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 28:26SPEAKER_04: And Pine Street will be pre-K through first.
- 28:29SPEAKER_04: Pre-K kindergarten and first.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: And so I teach right now I teach pre-K.
- 28:34SPEAKER_08: Are they closing Mapleton?
- 28:35SPEAKER_04: No.
- 28:35SPEAKER_08: Okay, I didn't think so.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: Right now I teach pre-K through second.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 28:39SPEAKER_04: At um Pine Street and Mapleton elementary.
- 28:43SPEAKER_04: And I teach chorus at the middle school and at the high school.
- 28:47SPEAKER_04: So, what was told to me, and again, apparently this is not official, but all roads are leaning towards this.
- 28:56SPEAKER_04: Uh Jenna Simonoff will be at the middle school.
- 29:01SPEAKER_04: Second through sixth.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: She's going to teach second through sixth.
- 29:08SPEAKER_04: I am going to teach pre-K through first at Pine Street Monday and Tuesday.
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: And pre-K through fifth in Mapleton the rest of the week.
- 29:22SPEAKER_04: And then where we're going to put middle school course, I have no idea.
- 29:27SPEAKER_04: But then I have to be at the high school at the end of the day for high school course.
- 29:31SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 29:31SPEAKER_04: Because that's a fine art credit, and they need to be there.
- 29:34SPEAKER_04: They need to have that class all week.
- 29:36SPEAKER_04: So I'm always ending my day at the high school.
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 29:41SPEAKER_04: So where they're going to That's every day, right?
- 29:43SPEAKER_04: That's every day.
- 29:44SPEAKER_04: Well, right now it's not because I teach middle school course at the middle school.
- 29:48SPEAKER_10: Right, but it will be every day.
- 29:50SPEAKER_04: I'm assuming.
- 29:51SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 29:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:51SPEAKER_04: I'm assuming it well, we have chorus every day.
- 29:53SPEAKER_04: Jen Jenna fills in for me when I'm at the middle school.
- 29:56SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: So so we uh and the way it is looking right now is there's a possibility that they could have middle school chorus two days a week during six period.
- 30:07SPEAKER_04: So I would have to be at the middle high school uh for sixth and seventh period.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: Um and that way I would be teaching course all week long.
- 30:17SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 30:17SPEAKER_04: Um I don't know if that's gonna happen or not, but I I'm I'm kind of freaking out because I'm teaching s uh pre-K through fifth.
- 30:24SPEAKER_04: So third, fourth, and fifth, I've never taught.
- 30:26SPEAKER_10: I find it interesting.
- 30:27SPEAKER_10: They're doing they're starting this now and they're implementing it in the fall.
- 30:31SPEAKER_10: I don't understand it.
- 30:32SPEAKER_09: It it it makes no sense.
- 30:33SPEAKER_09: It makes no sense.
- 30:34SPEAKER_09: It's gonna be it's gonna be a a Charlie Fox truck.
- 30:37SPEAKER_09: It is.
- 30:37SPEAKER_09: It is.
- 30:38SPEAKER_09: And it's gonna be crazy.
- 30:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 30:39SPEAKER_09: Nobody's gonna be happy.
- 30:41SPEAKER_04: Why couldn't they say, we're gonna close Zipple next year?
- 30:44SPEAKER_04: So we're gonna do this move.
- 30:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you came up with the idea this year.
- 30:48SPEAKER_10: Next year, start implementing it what during the school year.
- 30:51SPEAKER_10: So by the time school ends next year, right?
- 30:54SPEAKER_10: You're ready to move.
- 30:54SPEAKER_04: Ready to go.
- 30:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: And if you have to build some things throughout the year, you can do that.
- 31:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:01SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: And and that way it doesn't have to all be done during the summer.
- 31:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that's the that's I think is a little unrealistic.
- 31:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:08SPEAKER_04: Uh well, I mean, there's there's a lot of things that need to be done, but then there's a lot of things that don't need to be done.
- 31:14SPEAKER_04: I mean, we're lucky in that our our buildings are pretty um you can you can adjust them pretty quickly.
- 31:23SPEAKER_10: Well, I'm yeah, I'm I have no doubt about that, but still, it just i I think ease of transfer would be better if you like, hey, we're gonna do this, let's work on it all next year.
- 31:35SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 31:36SPEAKER_10: By the time June of 2027 comes around, right?
- 31:40SPEAKER_10: We're ready to go in September.
- 31:42SPEAKER_04: And also your your teachers wouldn't be freaking out.
- 31:45SPEAKER_10: Yeah, exactly.
- 31:45SPEAKER_10: Because you know, that puts some stress on you guys, and everybody's not gonna be happy, and then by the time September comes around, everybody's gonna be like, Yeah.
- 31:54SPEAKER_04: Well, we shall see uh, you know, what actually happens.
- 31:58SPEAKER_04: I think, you know, and I think there are good intentions.
- 32:00SPEAKER_04: I'm not saying that, you know, but it's it does seem a little a little unbelievable.
- 32:04SPEAKER_04: Is it a cost-cutting thing?
- 32:06SPEAKER_04: Oh, there's a lot of things.
- 32:07SPEAKER_04: Yes, it is a cost-cutting thing.
- 32:09SPEAKER_04: Um no, it's a population thing.
- 32:11SPEAKER_04: It is, yeah.
- 32:12SPEAKER_04: Our population is in decline.
- 32:13SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 32:14SPEAKER_04: Steadily, and I mean it has been over the past you know, at least 10 15 years.
- 32:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:19SPEAKER_04: Um and it is a cost-cutting thing.
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: And um we're tr we're trying to we've been trying to go all day kindergarten.
- 32:27SPEAKER_07: All right.
- 32:27SPEAKER_04: And we're one of the only places that is not in the state that is all day kindergarten.
- 32:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, one of the only places.
- 32:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:33SPEAKER_04: Um and I think there's six others uh throughout the entire state that are that still split their kindergarten.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: Uh so we're trying to go all day kindergarten.
- 32:43SPEAKER_04: We have um CDS, which is child we're getting into the weeds here, but uh child development services, they provide special services to uh three and four year olds.
- 32:52SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 32:53SPEAKER_04: Uh well they're like a like a pre-K.
- 32:57SPEAKER_04: And it's for the state.
- 32:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:58SPEAKER_04: And that's going away in like in a year or two, and we have to take that on.
- 33:04SPEAKER_04: So that's why, you know, they're moving second grade out of Pine Street, and all those all those three and four year olds that need those special uh things will go to Pine Street.
- 33:15SPEAKER_04: Um so I mean it's there's a there's lots of reasons to do it.
- 33:18SPEAKER_04: One of the other reasons to do it is, and I think here's here's the crux of the issue.
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: We submit the state the state I'm getting into the wheeze, like I said, but the state uh schools submit for a new school, like funding from the state to build a new school every year.
- 33:37SPEAKER_04: And every year, the is it every year or every few years?
- 33:42SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 33:43SPEAKER_04: The state funds uh nine schools something like that.
- 33:50SPEAKER_04: And we have submitted all we've submitted year after year after year, and we've been twenty-fourth.
- 33:58SPEAKER_04: We've been this and this and this, and we got up to fourteenth.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: And so I think if they realize that we're in dire straits because we've made this adjustment, uh, that we will go higher on the list.
- 34:13SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 34:13SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 34:14SPEAKER_04: I think that's I think that is what's behind the quickness of it.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: Because they want to get higher on the list and they want to get a new school.
- 34:23SPEAKER_04: Like a pre-K through twelve school.
- 34:27SPEAKER_10: Just close them all down and build one gigantic school like Ashland has?
- 34:33SPEAKER_10: I I think so.
- 34:33SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 34:34SPEAKER_04: Uh uh you know, I'm not positive, but you know, that high school.
- 34:38SPEAKER_10: Well, there was that talk of combining like caribou for and press cow.
- 34:42SPEAKER_10: I think that that's a stupid idea.
- 34:43SPEAKER_10: That's crazy.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's just yeah, that's crazy.
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: Dumb.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: Um so well, they tried to do that in the valley and it didn't work, right?
- 34:52SPEAKER_04: No.
- 34:52SPEAKER_04: They didn't approve it.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: No.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:54SPEAKER_10: Everybody was like, nah.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: Yep, not gonna do that.
- 34:56SPEAKER_04: Nah, brah.
- 34:57SPEAKER_04: So um I don't think that'll work down here, but I think they are trying to get a new school uh from the state.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: So, and I think, you know, if we make all these moves now.
- 35:06SPEAKER_10: Well, press gowns should just do what they did in the first place and set fire to the old one.
- 35:10SPEAKER_04: The the old what?
- 35:12SPEAKER_04: The old high school.
- 35:13SPEAKER_04: Like way back, way back.
- 35:14SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 35:15SPEAKER_10: That's how you get the new school.
- 35:16SPEAKER_10: Or the one one now.
- 35:18SPEAKER_09: Well, it wasn't intentional, though, was it?
- 35:19SPEAKER_10: No, I don't think so.
- 35:22SPEAKER_10: People were like, Is Doug real?
- 35:24SPEAKER_10: For real?
- 35:25SPEAKER_10: Did they really do that?
- 35:27SPEAKER_10: Doug, look what you started.
- 35:29SPEAKER_04: No, we we're not saying that.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: We're not saying that at all.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: But the you're right though, that the fire did destroy the high school.
- 35:34SPEAKER_10: Yeah, so yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_04: Years and years.
- 35:36SPEAKER_10: Now now it's an old folks' home.
- 35:37SPEAKER_10: So that worked out for everybody, right?
- 35:40SPEAKER_10: So, you know, old people got a home, kids got a new school, bingo! Yeah.
- 35:48SPEAKER_10: So, yeah.
- 35:48SPEAKER_04: Uh all right, we kids don't burn stuff.
- 35:51SPEAKER_04: We should we should um we should talk about some music because that's what this book is.
- 35:58SPEAKER_10: What are we here for again?
- 35:59SPEAKER_04: Okay, I have a couple of things uh I want to talk about.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: One of them, well, let me get this out of the way first because I'm not a big fan of this, but I I wanted to I'm not a big fan of this band.
- 36:09SPEAKER_04: I mean, I I like this band, but uh uh, you know, they were never one of my favorites.
- 36:13SPEAKER_04: And uh the lead singer especially is not one of my favorites, but he's got a new solo album out.
- 36:19SPEAKER_04: And I wanted to play a new song.
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: So this is uh a new single from Stephen Pearcy of Rat.
- 36:26SPEAKER_10: Stephen Pearcy's got a solo album?
- 36:28SPEAKER_04: He's got a solo album coming out.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 36:30SPEAKER_04: Um it's called View to a Thrill.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: Nope, never mind.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: That's from 2018.
- 36:35SPEAKER_04: Uh The Dog Mob.
- 36:38SPEAKER_04: Uh let's see if it's a terrible D O G G.
- 36:44SPEAKER_04: Uh solo alongside his longtime bandmate Warren De Martini.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: I'm trying to see if there's a release date for his dog mob album.
- 36:53SPEAKER_04: Yes, the summer.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: This summer.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: It should come out.
- 36:56SPEAKER_10: Is that the name of the album or is that the name of the project?
- 36:58SPEAKER_10: Like it's not like Stephen Percy, it's the dog mob.
- 37:01SPEAKER_04: No, Ratstar Stephen Pearcy has released I Need You, the first single from his newly announced solo album, The Dog Mob.
- 37:06SPEAKER_04: So that's the name of the album.
- 37:07SPEAKER_04: That's the name of the album.
- 37:08SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 37:08SPEAKER_04: Yep, that's the name of the album.
- 37:10SPEAKER_04: Uh this is a song called I Need You.
- 37:12SPEAKER_04: So I figure we'll just listen to a little bit of it.
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: Uh, like I said, I'm not a huge Prepare to be disappointed.
- 37:20SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, if it's got Warren Di Martini.
- 37:22SPEAKER_10: It's probably gonna be pretty good, I hope anyway.
- 38:58SPEAKER_10: Well, you said this was coming out of summer, right?
- 39:00SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah, so they they still got time to fix it.
- 39:02SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 39:04SPEAKER_04: If they if they're going that direction.
- 39:06SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: I mean, I'm I'm not gonna say it's bad.
- 39:09SPEAKER_10: It's I'm not overly the song isn't terrible.
- 39:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:13SPEAKER_04: I like the guitar part.
- 39:14SPEAKER_04: Guitar the guitar sounds great.
- 39:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I wonder if it's Warren De Martini.
- 39:18SPEAKER_04: Uh, because I know they've been working together.
- 39:21SPEAKER_04: Um, okay.
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: It's right here.
- 39:24SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 39:24SPEAKER_04: Uh, song features Pearcy on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Blast Elias on drums, um, a guy named Thorne on bass.
- 39:35SPEAKER_04: Matt Thorne, sorry.
- 39:37SPEAKER_04: And Eric Ferrentinos on rhythm guitar, special guest league guitarist that will apparently be revealed at a later date.
- 39:47SPEAKER_04: So we don't know who the lead guitar player is.
- 39:49SPEAKER_04: I'm assuming it's Wardy.
- 39:50SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm assuming so, yeah.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: Maybe we shouldn't assume.
- 39:53SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 39:53SPEAKER_10: Anyway, what they say about assuming.
- 39:55SPEAKER_10: What do they say, Doug?
- 39:57SPEAKER_10: It makes a butt out of you and me.
- 39:59SPEAKER_10: That's not what they said.
- 40:00SPEAKER_10: I know, but I was cleaning up for the Blanchard children.
- 40:04SPEAKER_04: Um, I thought this was interesting how uh Rush is going to honor Neil Peart at their reunion shows.
- 40:09SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I saw this headline.
- 40:10SPEAKER_10: I didn't get a chance to read the article.
- 40:12SPEAKER_04: Okay, so uh it's called the 15 something tour.
- 40:15SPEAKER_04: Um, and they said we've been talking about doing certain songs that we feel really, really give us the vision of Neil, and we'll pick those songs in each set of the two sets.
- 40:26SPEAKER_04: Um he said, twice a night we will pick a song to play sort of for him.
- 40:31SPEAKER_04: Um we'll present a visual tribute us uh to behind us to Neil, whether it be his to his lyrics or just his playing or whatever.
- 40:40SPEAKER_04: Uh they'll take a moment, play these songs with him in mind so the whole audience and us can remember him.
- 40:45SPEAKER_04: Uh celebration of who Peart was as a person and as a drummer.
- 40:50SPEAKER_04: So that'll be kind of cool.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: That's good.
- 40:51SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 40:52SPEAKER_10: You know what they should do?
- 40:53SPEAKER_04: What's that?
- 40:53SPEAKER_10: Because they you know they traditionally gave Neil a drum solo.
- 40:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:57SPEAKER_10: They should play like a drum solo from a past tour.
- 41:01SPEAKER_04: Right, like on the screen.
- 41:02SPEAKER_10: Yeah, on the screen behind him, and just you know, like for that ten minutes or so, just you know, just watch Neil.
- 41:08SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 41:08SPEAKER_10: I think that'd be cool.
- 41:09SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 41:09SPEAKER_04: That would be cool.
- 41:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:11SPEAKER_04: Don't even put that pressure on Annika.
- 41:14SPEAKER_10: Nah, I wouldn't.
- 41:14SPEAKER_04: I mean, she doesn't need to.
- 41:16SPEAKER_04: I mean, if she wants to do something, she I mean she could.
- 41:18SPEAKER_04: I mean, she's more than capable.
- 41:19SPEAKER_04: But I'm sure she's already, um, in an interview, she said she sat down to the drum kit to play at the when they first met um to play Tom Sawyer, and she said, I don't I don't know if I want to do this song.
- 41:31SPEAKER_04: I would be too, man.
- 41:32SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 41:32SPEAKER_04: You kidding me?
- 41:33SPEAKER_04: I have no doubt that she can do it and probably do it really, really, really well.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah, no doubt.
- 41:39SPEAKER_04: But it's such a weighty song.
- 41:41SPEAKER_04: It is you know what I mean?
- 41:42SPEAKER_04: It's it's like a signature song.
- 41:44SPEAKER_04: It is such huge shoes.
- 41:47SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 41:48SPEAKER_04: So why not take that pressure off her for the for the drum solo?
- 41:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, just just show an old Neil one.
- 41:53SPEAKER_04: You know, like she wants to do a drum solo, yeah.
- 41:55SPEAKER_10: Absolutely.
- 41:56SPEAKER_10: But you know, if you want to, if you don't want to, just that that that would be a nice tribute.
- 42:00SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:00SPEAKER_10: I think so.
- 42:01SPEAKER_10: Everybody would love that.
- 42:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:02SPEAKER_04: So um I read this and I think this is so cool.
- 42:08SPEAKER_04: So WKRP.
- 42:10SPEAKER_04: Did you read this?
- 42:11SPEAKER_10: Cincinnati.
- 42:13SPEAKER_04: Uh well.
- 42:15SPEAKER_04: WKRP in Cincinnati was a T a CBS TV show uh created by Hugh Wilson that centered on the staff of a fictional radio station, ran from 78 to 82, but the real-life call letters have been in use via 101.9 WKRP LP in Raleigh, North Carolina since 2015.
- 42:33SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 42:33SPEAKER_04: In February, the rights to those call letters went up for sale and evidently found a buyer in Cincinnati.
- 42:40SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 42:41SPEAKER_04: So uh I cannot by contract tell you when.
- 42:43SPEAKER_04: I cannot tell you who, but I can tell you direct to the camera, WKRP, after 48 years, is coming to Cincinnati.
- 42:50SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 42:50SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 42:51SPEAKER_04: That's awesome.
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Uh, and it is going to say, he said, book it, it's done.
- 42:54SPEAKER_04: It is going to be a radio station.
- 42:57SPEAKER_04: Um he said McIntyre, who watched the show as a child, has always had his eye on the name.
- 43:03SPEAKER_04: He can recall watching the very first episode with his family, and at the end of the 30-minute episode, he said to the AP, I got up and proclaimed I'm going to be in radio.
- 43:11SPEAKER_04: And if I ever have the opportunity, I'm going to run a station called WKRP.
- 43:16SPEAKER_04: Uh he's he can't share any further details for legal reasons, but it will be radio.
- 43:21SPEAKER_04: That's all I can tell you at this time.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: So that's pretty cool.
- 43:24SPEAKER_04: That's awesome.
- 43:25SPEAKER_04: Did you ever watch that show?
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: Um I used to watch that all the time.
- 43:28SPEAKER_04: And I really only watched it because of Lonnie Anderson.
- 43:31SPEAKER_10: I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 43:32SPEAKER_09: Well, I see now I like Bailey.
- 43:34SPEAKER_10: You remember, yeah, yeah, Bailey.
- 43:35SPEAKER_10: I remember But I mean Lonnie Anderson.
- 43:38SPEAKER_10: I mean, come on.
- 43:39SPEAKER_04: Lonnie Anderson never did it for me.
- 43:41SPEAKER_04: She was quite a swimmer, you know.
- 43:42SPEAKER_04: So yeah.
- 43:43SPEAKER_04: Well, no, I get that.
- 43:44SPEAKER_04: I get that.

- 54:36SPEAKER_10: Oh.
- 54:38SPEAKER_10: I thought it was CRS.
- 54:39SPEAKER_10: Well, yeah, but I'm clear again.
- 54:41SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 54:41SPEAKER_04: Blanchard children.
- 54:42SPEAKER_04: Very Blanchard children.
- 54:43SPEAKER_04: Well, although I think some of the Blanchard children speak a lot worse than we do.
- 54:48SPEAKER_04: Probably.
- 54:49SPEAKER_10: I'm just I I don't wanna I don't want to contribute to the delinquency.
- 54:53SPEAKER_10: I completely understand.

- 55:05SPEAKER_01: Hey guys.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: Um, that was a really fun pick this week.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: Uh, but even just hearing the question, I immediately knew what song I would have gone with.
- 55:17SPEAKER_01: And it was it was uh David Bowie Space Oddities.
- 55:20SPEAKER_01: So I had to go with O'Brien this week.
- 55:22SPEAKER_01: That is the most perfect song for that question.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: Three weeks in a row.
- 55:25SPEAKER_01: I love that song.
- 55:26unknown: Yeah.
- 55:26SPEAKER_04: I think that was three three weeks in a row for O'Brien.

- 55:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I always I always send her a message.
- 55:44SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 55:45SPEAKER_04: Uh let's see.
- 55:46SPEAKER_04: I'm going to read the present uh mixtape question.
- 55:52SPEAKER_04: It's the late 1800s old West.
- 55:56SPEAKER_04: You're an outlaw with the largest bounty in history on your head, and find yourself surrounded by over 200 lawmen and army cavalry.
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: You're surely about to die.
- 56:09SPEAKER_04: Nothing left to do but bust out shooting and take as many of them as possible.
- 56:14SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 56:15SPEAKER_04: And I guess I guess the question is what song is playing while this happens.
- 56:18SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 56:19SPEAKER_04: So Cousin Larry.
- 56:21SPEAKER_04: Cousin Larry.
- 56:22SPEAKER_04: What does Cousin Larry say?
- 56:27SPEAKER_04: We should offer to have you ever mentioned uh Cousin Larry, maybe he could record his as well, just like Miss Judge does, you know?
- 56:34SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 56:35SPEAKER_10: I mean we could ask.
- 56:36SPEAKER_10: I mean he doesn't have to.
- 56:37SPEAKER_04: I just think it'd kind of be neat to ha to have you know his voice on the air.
- 56:42SPEAKER_04: I mean we have it on the on the show all the time, but you know what I mean.
- 56:45SPEAKER_10: Yeah, no, I get it.

- 56:48SPEAKER_10: Uh cousin, okay.
- 56:52SPEAKER_10: I don't care.
- 56:53SPEAKER_10: Mixtape.
- 56:54SPEAKER_10: Well, obvious songs I thought of were Blaze of Glory and Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi.
- 56:59SPEAKER_10: That's great.
- 56:59SPEAKER_10: Another direction would uh to go would be Dylan's knocking on Heaven's Door.
- 57:04SPEAKER_10: Another one, another good one would be Thin Lizzie's Cowboy song.
- 57:08SPEAKER_10: The song that keeps going through my head is Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my head by the time.
- 57:12SPEAKER_03: Because of Butch and Sundance, right?
- 57:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 57:15SPEAKER_10: It's not the song played during the final scene of the It's not the song.
- 57:20SPEAKER_10: It's not the song played during the final scene of the movie Butch Butch Cassidy and the Sundance game, but it is from the movie.
- 57:26SPEAKER_10: Every time I hear that song, that scene pops into my brain.
- 57:30SPEAKER_10: Honorable mention to all the old cowboy songs by Marty Robbins.
- 57:43SPEAKER_04: As soon as I read as soon as you read it last week, I thought of Butch S Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kit.
- 57:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 57:50SPEAKER_00: Nothing seems to fit those raindrops of falling on.
- 57:55SPEAKER_04: DJ Thomas.

- 58:10SPEAKER_02: Bert Baccherak wrote a lot of uh standards.
- 58:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 58:14SPEAKER_00: Rain drops are falling on my head.
- 58:17SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I honestly forgot about this song from the movie.
- 58:19SPEAKER_10: Really?
- 58:20SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 58:20SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 58:23SPEAKER_10: You know, I only watched it because I had watched a uh a documentary on the actual Butch Cassidy and Sunday as Kid, but and then I then I was like, man, I haven't seen that movie forever.
- 58:33SPEAKER_10: So I watched the movie and I was like, oh yeah, I've totally forgot about this.
- 58:36SPEAKER_04: You know what I think of when I think of this movie?
- 58:39SPEAKER_04: I think of Rosewood and Beverly Hills Cop.

- 58:46SPEAKER_09: You do that again, I'll shoot you myself.
- 58:54SPEAKER_10: Alright.
- 58:54SPEAKER_10: What was your what was your pick?

- 59:00SPEAKER_04: Oh, there you go.
- 59:01SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 59:02SPEAKER_10: I just that that's like my favorite western of all time.
- 59:07SPEAKER_04: So yeah, this is classic.
- 59:19SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 59:20SPEAKER_10: I mean this that that final the final shootout scene in the in the cemetery.
- 59:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 59:26SPEAKER_10: You know, the Mexican standoff with the good, the bad, and the ugly, you know, you're just like, the whole time you're like, you know.
- 59:34SPEAKER_10: And the way he and the way he films it, I mean, you're just like, Oh yeah.
- 59:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I mean, I mean it's it's really long, and if you're not really into it, yeah, I mean I love that.
- 59:42SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 59:43SPEAKER_10: But uh, if you're not into it, you don't you're watching it, you're like, well, he's just showing their face to them looking at each other, and then to the guns, then to the face, to the guns.
- 59:54SPEAKER_10: You know, you're just it just builds the anticipation.
- 59:56SPEAKER_04: That's the definition of a spaghetti western.
- 59:58SPEAKER_04: Oh, absolutely.

- 1:00:16SPEAKER_10: Those of those that dig and those that have guns.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_10: You dig.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_04: Well, there's a connection between your choice and my choice.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, really?
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_04: Not a big connection, but it's a Clen Eastwood?
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_04: But no, it's not not.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_04: Uh I went a different route.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_04: I said, because the the thing said, um, you're surely about to die.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_04: Nothing left to do but bust out shooting and take as many of them as possible.

- 1:01:13SPEAKER_04: This is just me shooting everybody.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_03: Oh, why not?
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_03: What?
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_03: Make me dead.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_09: And that whole that may be the only good song on this album, too.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_09: So actually, what else is on this album?
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_10: I think the album is a jack built.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_10: I think it's on the few.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I get it off the load and reload are basically the same album.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_10: Uh it's basically a double album.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_10: Oh.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_10: Is this reload?
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_10: This is reload.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_10: This is a reload, yeah.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_10: Yeah, see.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah, I totally get that.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_10: Oh no, the memory remains is good.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_10: Oh, that is a good song.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_10: I love that video.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_10: Um, I don't know why, but I love that video.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the memory remains.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_04: I'm forgiven too, I guess.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_04: But but yeah, fuel, you're right, is the best one on the film.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_04: But you see what I'm going for.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_04: Okay, so fuel from Metallica is my choice.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_04: Good, the bad, and the ugly from Enio Moroccone is Doug's choice.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_04: And raindrops keep falling on my head from BJ Thomas.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that's a that's quite the range this week.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_10: It is.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_10: Good luck, Judge.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_10: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_10: I wouldn't I wouldn't want to be you.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_09: Four weeks in a row.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_09: Four weeks in a row.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_10: That's what you're shooting for.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_10: That's that's why you pick Metallica.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_10: That is not why I picked Metallica.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_04: Because you know she loves metal.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but that's can you see?
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_04: I mean No, I don't.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_04: No, I totally get it.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_04: Bust out shooting everybody.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_04: I'm just busting your caps.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_04: I think I've used fuel a couple times, though.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_04: That song.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_04: I have.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_04: So maybe she won't go with me just for that purpose.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I never know.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_04: But uh great choices all around.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_04: Uh I did think of butchcasting the Sundance Kid the first time I I heard the questions.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_04: So I kudos to Larry for actually putting that one.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_10: Of course.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_10: He's always he's always like one step ahead of us.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_10: He is.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_04: So all right, we're gonna take a break.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_04: We're gonna climb down.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_04: No, we gotta do a future question, dude.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_04: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_10: Ah, dog on the ball! Yes, you are.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_10: Thank you.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_10: Alright, so what is the future question?
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_10: This will be interesting.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_10: Play the country song that best describes the totality of your senior year in high school.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_10: That's what I thought.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_04: Okay, so on that note, let me do this.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_04: Because remember I told you um that I did tell you really funny.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_04: I was reminiscing about something.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_04: Um along the lines of this question Um I came across a snippet of radio voice that I used to listen to, especially in high school, actually.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_04: It's it's kind of interesting that you you drew that question because Oh, that's what it was.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_10: The radio thing.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_10: Doing a radio.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_04: Right, okay.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_04: So I used to listen to uh when I was in high school, I used to listen of course you know, I was a uh you know, I was a metalhead sort of or hard rock guy in high school, Van Halen and all that stuff.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_04: But I was also a country guy.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_04: Um and in high school and after high school, I would always listen to the American Country Countdown.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_04: With Bob Kingsley.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_04: And I heard a snippet of his voice and it just took me back.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_04: You know how it's like nostalgia, right?
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_04: And so I was like, I wonder if there's a place that you can listen to the old American Country Countdown.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_02: Who has the number one song in the nation this week?
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_02: Remember his voice?
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_02: Kick things off right now, an encore of the one most popular song in the USA from last week's survey.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_02: Here's Alan Jackson and someday.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_04: So that's in 1991.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_04: But that's on YouTube.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_04: But uh iHeartRadio has Bob Kingsley's countdown classics.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_04: Kind of like what they do with uh Casey Casey.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_04: They have Casey Casey as well, yeah.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_04: You can listen to all that stuff.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_04: I think that's awesome.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_04: So anyway, uh I just thought it was kind of neat that uh that you drew that question.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_10: So I just you bring that out.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_10: I've I've mentioned this before, but cousin Larry was famous for every Saturday, he listened to the countdown and he wrote down Oh yeah.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_10: He kept he kept records of what what was popular.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_10: Well when I when I 'cause I remember, you know, go I you know, we'd stay at we'd go to visit them in the summertime.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_10: And that's Saturday.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_10: That's what he'd be doing.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_10: You'd be listening to the countdown writing down the I will tell you
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_04: So here's a little insider uh information about radio back in those days.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_04: So I worked I worked at several radio stations.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_10: They had a really big long wire with king cans on it.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_10: No, Roma.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_10: And we rode our dinosaurs to stick to the Right.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_04: Well well, so so when I worked at uh remember it was uh it was it was WBPW.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah but it was Power 96.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_04: And they had Rick D's on Sundays.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_04: One of my jobs was to to do Rick D.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_04: So but Rick D's came on vinyl.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_04: All the all the Rick D's countdowns, weekly top 40 countdown was on vinyl record back then.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_04: And then I then I got a a job at a country station, same thing with American Country Countdown.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_04: It was on vinyl record, and I had to cue it up, you know, and then they would uh between things it would be a commercial break.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_04: So you'd you'd have to take your commercial break and then cue it up again.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_04: You know, and and and play the play the rest.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_04: But that's that's how long ago this was.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_04: Rick D's and and American Country County and all that stuff was on vinyl record.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_04: Uh and then it it transferred while I was working there, it transferred to C D.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_04: And so we used to just play it on CDs or something.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_04: So it's you know, I've seen I've seen we still used to use the carts for the commercials.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_04: Actually, you did that too.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did that at the LP.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_04: College station, yeah.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_04: Um but now it's all it's all digital.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_04: All digital.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_04: It's so boring.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_10: Well, it was it was exciting because you know, if you wanted to play a commercial, you had a c you know, or PSA not only was it.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_10: You'd just slam the card into the into the machine.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_04: Not only was it exciting, but you could multitask.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_04: Like like I'd be answering the phone and playing a card and listening, half listening to the commercial when it ends, so you'd have to hit the next one.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_04: And but I'm talking on the phone, and oh, and then I gotta queue up a record while this commercial's on, and I'm on the phone, and I already queued up the record and then hit it again.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_04: Okay, I gotta go.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_04: Blah blah blah.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_04: I could multitask.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_04: Today I don't think I could do that.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_10: I know.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_10: No way.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_10: I'd be like, what is that?
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_10: I don't have the attention span.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_10: I'd be like, two minutes being going.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_10: Yeah, huh?
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_10: Dead air.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_10: Oh, hold on a second.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_10: Hold on a second, I gotta play a song.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_04: These people are stupid.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_04: But dude, I loved it.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_04: I thought it was you know it was such fun.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_04: Anyway, uh we're gonna take a break.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_04: We'll come back and we'll climb the wall of tunes and uh we'll go from there.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_04: Okay.

- 1:10:12SPEAKER_04: Alright, I'm gonna take off my headphones.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_04: Climb that one.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_10: This is from the chapter uh Night Ranger Breaks Big, Kansas and Rainbow Break Up.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_10: Jack Blades.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_10: Quote.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_10: Kelly wrote Sister Christian about his sister, whose name is Christy.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_10: She grew up in a small town in Oregon.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_10: Kelly Key.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_10: Quote.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_10: She was 16 and doing what was popular back then, which was driving up and down the streets cruising and looking for guys.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_10: Well, we we did that, but we were looking for guys.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_04: No, we weren't.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_10: They called it monor motoring.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_10: Motoring.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_10: It was like out of American graffiti.
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_10: That time in your life when you're not a kid, but you're not fully adult either.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_10: That's true.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_04: I wish I could find, and and before you leave, I'll try and find one of those quotes from Steve Luca that I thought was so funny.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_04: Oh, Steve's funny.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_04: It's just the way he words things.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_10: Well he's had he's done it all, man.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_10: I mean, that guy's been with everybody, played with everybody up.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_10: Stories he must have.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_10: Probably filled with volumes.
- 1:11:13SPEAKER_04: Uh alright.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_04: I gotta make sure that I have this in my iTunes.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_04: Because I do have.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_04: I do have an artist.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_04: I have a CD, I should say.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_04: So I guess let the guessing begin.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_04: Rock band?
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_12: Cool.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_12: Who is it?
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_12: I'm not gonna tell you.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_12: Who's Miss Judges?
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_10: Who's Miss Judges?
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_10: She has a band.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_12: I'll tell you who the band is.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_12: Tell me who's Miss Judges is.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_10: What kind of rock band?
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_07: It's rock band.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_10: Uh height of popularity.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_10: Um like hair metal.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_10: Hard rock.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_10: Hard ro hard rock.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_04: Well, they had the top 40 songs.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_04: But harder rock.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_04: Not like heavy metal, but harder rock.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_04: Well, the guitar player one of the guitar players had a famous uh fill-in gig for a while.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_04: Um the lead singer one of the lead singers has written a lot of songs for other people.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_04: Or with other people.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_04: Um of the lead singers.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_04: Um but no real prodigies, if you will.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_04: The guitar player is pretty impressive.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_10: So they've had multiple lead singers.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_10: Um they have lead singers in the same day.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_04: In the same in the same time, yeah.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_10: So that's like uh like a sister hazelish.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, but not that type of music.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_04: Right, right.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_10: Uh is it um Night Ranger?
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_04: It's so funny that you pick that and and then I picked this.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_04: I thought it was like that's queenky dink.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_04: So you're talking we're talking about Brad Gillis.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_04: Brad Gillis filled in after Ray Rhodes died.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_04: For Ozzy for about a year.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_04: Year or so.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_04: Something like that.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_04: That tour.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_04: Um and Night Ranger and uh Jack Blades from Night Ranger has written with everybody from Steven Tyler to you know uh guys from Journey.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, everybody.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_04: True story.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_04: Um this is one of their lesser-known albums, to be honest with you.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_04: This is uh from 2008, and it's called Hole in the Sun.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_04: I don't think I don't think there's any hit songs on this album.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_04: I've never even heard of the album.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_04: Uh that doesn't mean it's not good.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_04: Um this is so let's see, Hole in the Sun.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_04: Um well, I'll just play the first track because honestly, I don't think they had any um hit songs from it.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_04: That's Kelly Keggy on the drums and bubbles.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_04: Um so I'm gonna play I'll play another one.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_04: This one's called You're Gonna Hear From Me.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_04: And yes, there's a whole bunch of stuff about Night Ranger in that book.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_04: That was a whole chapter.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_04: Well, more than one.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_04: One of the uh one of the cool uh interesting stories is they put their first album out.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_04: They recorded the first album and released it.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_04: And they had sold, I don't know, not a lot, but thousands in the thousands, yeah.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_04: Um and at the time they were called Ranger.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:16:14unknown: What do you think you do?
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_04: And their manager or their record label president or whatever said, What do you think you do?
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_04: We gotta change the name because there's a country band called Ranger.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_04: And so at the last minute, like they had already shipped.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_04: I wanna say I shouldn't say they sold, they shipped like a hundred thousand copies.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_04: So, like out to record stores.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_04: So they could have called them back.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_04: But at the last second, we have to change our name.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_04: So what are we gonna do?
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_04: And apparently they had a song on the first album called Night Ranger.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_04: Ah, so let's just put the word night in front of it.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_04: So that's how they became Night Ranger.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_04: Cool.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_04: Um But yeah, it was a country band that was like, Hey, that's our name.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_00: So play one more.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_04: This here's a ballad here.
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_04: I like their ballads.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_04: Me too.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_06: This is called There is Life Got a fence, man.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_00: If we have a home, we got a chat.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_00: I can do it all.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_04: I've always liked Night Ranger.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_10: Well, the the great thing about Night Ranger is it doesn't matter the album, you're gonna find something you like.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_04: That's true.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_10: They know how I mean I've never heard this album, but everything you've played so far, I'm like, I can get into this.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_10: They know what they're doing.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they know what they're doing.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_04: Um, I told you that was gonna be the last one, but oh, let me play one more because um Brad Gillis for a while there, because Night Ranger took a break for a while.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_04: You know, because I mean Jack was in damn Yankees and you know they were all doing something.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_04: Brad Gillis, one of the things he was doing was writing music for ESPN.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you knew that or not.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_04: I didn't know that.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he wrote like like for sports things.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_04: He wrote guitar guitar-based music.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_04: This is what this started as.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_04: This is called Revelation 4am.
- 1:19:17SPEAKER_04: No, maybe I'm thinking of white knuckle ride.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_04: Hold on.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_04: Hold on, I don't think this is it.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_12: Let me see.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_10: This doesn't sound like a sports game.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm playing the rum song.
- 1:19:25SPEAKER_10: Unless it's like golf.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_04: This is the one.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_04: This is called White Knuckle Ride.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_04: This is real.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_10: Okay, this I can take.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_04: So this is he was doing this stuff kind of stuff for ESPN.
- 1:19:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_10: Nice.
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_10: I can see that.
- 1:19:40SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_10: This is like bumper music, you know what I mean?
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:19:44SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:19:46SPEAKER_04: But yeah, you know, always, always quality stuff from the Rangers.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_04: So that's from uh Hole in the Sun from uh 2008.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_04: So there you go.
- 1:19:55SPEAKER_04: That is our uh Wall of Tunes album of the week.
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_10: Nice, nice! I still say we should make a uh attach a playlist to our site somehow.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_10: Like a Spotify playlist of all of our Wall of Tunes artists.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_04: Well, interesting that you say that.
- 1:20:12SPEAKER_04: Um because I I I didn't really understand this, and I'm gonna read it to you anyway.
- 1:20:17SPEAKER_04: Um because I can't read?
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_04: No, um that too.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_04: Um so I want to look into this.
- 1:20:26SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:20:27SPEAKER_04: I got an email from BuzzRout.
- 1:20:29SPEAKER_04: New in Buzzroute, voicemail, fan mail, replies, transcripts, chapters, and more.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you've ever listened to our podcast um let's see, via Bluetooth in your car.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:20:47SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_04: It already puts our stuff in chapters and it already puts titles.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:52SPEAKER_04: Okay, you I've I saw that for the first time when I was taking the trip like last week.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_04: Or not last week, but uh a couple weeks ago.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_04: I was I was traveling and I was like, holy cow, we Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 1:21:01SPEAKER_04: We didn't put that in there.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, I was like, uh When did we do that?
- 1:21:04SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:21:05SPEAKER_04: That's Bud Sprout doing that.
- 1:21:06SPEAKER_04: So but it it says uh fan mail gets two big upgrades.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_04: You can now reply to fan mail and your listeners can send you voicemails through fan mail.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_10: That's pretty cool.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_04: So I uh but we gotta figure out how it works because I don't wanna I don't wanna uh to do it.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_04: Um and and well first we have to have fans.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_04: Right, true.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_10: And then they have to send us voicemails.
- 1:21:26SPEAKER_04: Um automatic transcripts are now included for free on Buzz Sprout's new plans.
- 1:21:31SPEAKER_04: Um they haven't charged us for it, so we're not we're not on a new plan, I don't think.
- 1:21:35SPEAKER_04: You can now add and adjust podcast chapters while reviewing your podcast transcript.
- 1:21:40SPEAKER_04: Um a faster way to add chapters.
- 1:21:44SPEAKER_04: See, I ha we've never done anything.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_04: They just they they just do it.
- 1:21:47SPEAKER_04: They just do it.
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:21:49SPEAKER_04: Um but there must be a way that we can um you know, I mean we play the songs, right?
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_04: Uh what does it say?
- 1:21:59SPEAKER_04: I I've never really paid attention.
- 1:22:01SPEAKER_04: When we're playing the song, does it does it say anything?
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_10: I don't remember.
- 1:22:05SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 1:22:06SPEAKER_04: I don't either.
- 1:22:07SPEAKER_04: Anyway.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_04: Um I just think it's kind of cool that that they they do that.
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_10: But it's something I've been I've been mulling over for a long time, is just I think it would be cool.
- 1:22:18SPEAKER_10: Like we we just pick like a couple of our favorite songs from each artist and put it on a playlist and people can you know, download it or whatever.
- 1:22:25SPEAKER_04: Maybe we should start our own playlist on Spotify.
- 1:22:27SPEAKER_10: Well that's what I'm saying.
- 1:22:28SPEAKER_10: I'm I I think we should just do it anyway.
- 1:22:30SPEAKER_10: I mean, regardless, you know, Brian and Doug's playlist, you know.
- 1:22:34SPEAKER_10: Yeah, sure, why not?
- 1:22:35SPEAKER_10: Walletunes playlist or something like that, you know.
- 1:22:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:22:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:22:37SPEAKER_10: I'm just I just think it would be fun.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:22:39SPEAKER_10: Do you have Spotify?
- 1:22:41SPEAKER_10: I could get Spotify.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_10: I don't have it.
- 1:22:43SPEAKER_10: I mean all I gotta do is just I hate Spotify.
- 1:22:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_10: Hey, hey Google, give me Spotify.
- 1:22:49SPEAKER_10: Oh, whoops, I'm just kidding.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_10: Just kidding, Google.
- 1:22:57SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, I I I I hate Spotify, but you know, it's it's a it's a well I mean i I think it's it's a necessary evil.
- 1:23:04SPEAKER_04: It's what people listen to.
- 1:23:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's a necessary evil.
- 1:23:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:23:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:23:10SPEAKER_10: Adjust or die, you know.
- 1:23:12SPEAKER_04: I took a I took a you know, a three m a three month trial.
- 1:23:16SPEAKER_04: Three months or three months tr a free trial for for Spotify.
- 1:23:20SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:23:21SPEAKER_04: Um and i I think it's I can't remember, it's it's nine bucks a month after that or something like that.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I'm gonna take the free trial and see what it what it is.
- 1:23:30SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:23:30SPEAKER_04: And then I'm gonna cancel it because I think it's coming up in April.
- 1:23:33SPEAKER_04: I think it's on my calendar to cancel Spotify.
- 1:23:35SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:23:36SPEAKER_04: Uh I may not cancel Spotify because I mean Does it take out the ads and commercials?
- 1:23:42SPEAKER_04: It takes out the ads and commercials, but it also like with the free version if a song plays and and you miss the beginning, you can't go back to the beginning.
- 1:23:52SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:23:53SPEAKER_04: Um you you only get so many skips.
- 1:23:55SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:23:56SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:23:57SPEAKER_04: Um with the paid version, I can go back to song to song to song to song to song.
- 1:24:03SPEAKER_04: It's it's it's literally, I mean, a playlist.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_04: You know, I can and I can there's so much more that you can access.
- 1:24:09SPEAKER_04: Uh and like everything is on Spotify.
- 1:24:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:12SPEAKER_04: You know.
- 1:24:13SPEAKER_04: So I hate to say that because I'm so anti-Spotify.
- 1:24:17SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:24:18SPEAKER_04: But it's nice sometimes.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_04: You know, I'm the same, man, yeah.
- 1:24:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:22SPEAKER_04: So it is.
- 1:24:23SPEAKER_04: So um I haven't decided whether I'm gonna cancel it or not.
- 1:24:27SPEAKER_04: My my wife will probably hear this and say, Yes, you are canceling.
- 1:24:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you are.
- 1:24:33SPEAKER_04: I'm keeping Spotify, the frig you are.
- 1:24:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:35SPEAKER_04: So I've got, you know, I've got Sirius XM, you know, that's that's a subscription.
- 1:24:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:40SPEAKER_04: You know, and and but I listen to them, that's the thing.
- 1:24:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:43SPEAKER_04: I listen to all of them.
- 1:24:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:24:44SPEAKER_04: So uh then she'll be like, well, get rid of your CDs and your records then if you listen.
- 1:24:49SPEAKER_04: She's not wrong.
- 1:24:50SPEAKER_04: It's music.
- 1:24:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:24:52SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 1:24:53SPEAKER_04: We're keeping it.
- 1:24:54SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 1:24:55SPEAKER_04: So that's it.
- 1:24:57SPEAKER_04: That's all.
- 1:24:58SPEAKER_04: Ain't no more.
- 1:24:59SPEAKER_04: Ain't no more.
