- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from the doubr Life Back Studios. No Mark Simone
- 0:04Speaker 1: show guest hosting from Mark Today, Ken Rosato and so
- 0:09Speaker 1: good to be with you. Happy independence say weekend that
- 0:13Speaker 1: Mark Simone enjoying a nice long weekend. I think Mark
- 0:16Speaker 1: Simone is actually with Taylor Swift right now telling her, no,
- 0:21Speaker 1: you know what you want? Is that dressed to be
- 0:22Speaker 1: off the shoulder a little. I think he's right now
- 0:24Speaker 1: helping her with the wedding. That's what I think. I
- 0:26Speaker 1: don't know that, but I'm just saying, well, I hear
- 0:30Speaker 1: the laughter. I love it. He runs the hottest entertainment
- 0:32Speaker 1: website on the interwebs, Showbiz four one one. Rumor has
- 0:36Speaker 1: it that he helped Travis pick out Taylor's engagement ring
- 0:39Speaker 1: the incomparable Roger Friedman. Ladies and gentlemen, Good morning Roger.
- 0:44Speaker 2: No, you know, I say I'm officiating actually tonight.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Aha, man, you could.
- 0:49Speaker 2: They're gonna wind up getting a Jewish wedding even if
- 0:51Speaker 2: they don't want one.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Hully.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You know I used to be a priest, right you
- 0:54Speaker 1: do know that?
- 0:55Speaker 3: Or no, I didn't know that. There you go.
- 0:57Speaker 1: So I've done a couple of celebri weddings. In the past.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Now I would have to do it like I could
- 1:01Speaker 1: do whatever. I'm sure I'm gonna get in trouble now
- 1:03Speaker 1: for announcing that publicly anyway. So Taylor Swift, So, what's
- 1:07Speaker 1: the deal? Isue already married? Dish the dirt? What's the deal?
- 1:11Speaker 2: I don't think she's I think that I think the
- 1:13Speaker 2: wedding is tonight. I think that this people don't know anything.
- 1:19Speaker 2: So this amount of speculation is in overdrive and people
- 1:23Speaker 2: are making stuff up. Nothing's ever going to be confirmed
- 1:26Speaker 2: or denied, so you can say anything you want. But
- 1:29Speaker 2: I think they had their rehearsal dinner last night and
- 1:31Speaker 2: they're having their wedding tonight at the garden.
- 1:34Speaker 3: It'll be about one.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Hundred and fifty degrees outside at the moment that they're
- 1:38Speaker 2: going in. It's maybe we'll have thunderstorms. It should be fun.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I just put up a picture from the NYPD news
- 1:47Speaker 2: twitter feed of Chief Bodette, who's the head of Manhattan
- 1:52Speaker 2: South Cops, standing outside of the garden right now with
- 1:56Speaker 2: the megaphone calling out Taylor Swift lyric.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I'm looking at it right now. I see it right
- 2:02Speaker 1: now on your site. That's great.
- 2:04Speaker 2: This is the craziest thing I've ever You know, the
- 2:08Speaker 2: police have paid very handsomely to take care of this wedding,
- 2:13Speaker 2: and of course Taylor Sworts and Travis Kelsey gave away
- 2:17Speaker 2: twenty six million dollars in donations to various charities and
- 2:21Speaker 2: funds yesterday, which was their way of saying, you know,
- 2:25Speaker 2: we know this looks terrible, the wedding looks terrible, but
- 2:28Speaker 2: we're very nice people.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And they don't look look for the When you think
- 2:32Speaker 1: of the amount of charity she's done over the years
- 2:34Speaker 1: and the amount of people who she gives just from
- 2:36Speaker 1: the idea that she gives joy to so many millions
- 2:39Speaker 1: of people. Life kind of sucks for a lot of people.
- 2:42Speaker 1: And if she could bring joy to a lot of people,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and this is what they like, there could be a
- 2:47Speaker 1: lot worse that they're doing than cheering us.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Harmless exactly, absolutely, it's absolutely harmless. And uh, they're going
- 2:55Speaker 2: to be people. They're not going to get close tonight,
- 2:58Speaker 2: but there's going to be a huge crowd. It's probably
- 3:00Speaker 2: behind the barriers waiting to see what's happening. And it's
- 3:04Speaker 2: sort of like it's they've turned it into like a
- 3:06Speaker 2: royal wedding.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, it's the closest we up to royalty
- 3:10Speaker 1: in America. This is this is our royalty.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well I thought the Kardashians were actually the Royalty.
- 3:16Speaker 3: But this is the whole, all of these things.
- 3:21Speaker 2: The Coles, the department store of royalty, the.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Coals department stopped. Cols is good. I love my coals.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Don't don't mock gold. Hey, listen, let's shift from enough.
- 3:31Speaker 1: People are saying enough with the tailor. Okay. So mel Brooks,
- 3:34Speaker 1: one of my favorite human beings ever on the planet,
- 3:37Speaker 1: just turned one hundred. God bless him. Happy birthday. I
- 3:40Speaker 1: hope he lives to be two hundred. That man. I
- 3:42Speaker 1: could watch every one of his movies a thousand times.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Oh well, we love mel Brooks.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I Over the years, I've had a lot of opportunities
- 3:51Speaker 2: to interview him and talk to him. And when he
- 3:56Speaker 2: was when he and his late writing partner Tom Me
- 4:00Speaker 2: and we're writing the Young Frankenstein musical. They they used
- 4:07Speaker 2: to go to a restaurant around sixtieth and Lexington that
- 4:14Speaker 2: was I was called Madame Romain de Leon and it
- 4:17Speaker 2: was this place that only made omelets. They were very expensive.
- 4:22Speaker 2: They had like you know, truffles in them and that
- 4:24Speaker 2: kind of thing, and eventually the place was padlocked because
- 4:27Speaker 2: the people were running it never paid their taxes and
- 4:31Speaker 2: there weren't that many people in the restaurant ever, but
- 4:33Speaker 2: I knew that they were up there, so I used
- 4:35Speaker 2: to go up there and have lunch when they were
- 4:37Speaker 2: in the back writing, and they were so much fun.
- 4:41Speaker 2: And I really liked the Young Frankenstein musical. But after
- 4:44Speaker 2: the Producers it was such a hit on Broadway. Nothing
- 4:48Speaker 2: could live up to it, you know, it was pointless.
- 4:53Speaker 2: But Mel is great, and of course the Producers was
- 4:59Speaker 2: a gigante a kid on Broadway. After being a cult
- 5:02Speaker 2: movie for years and all those other movies were just terrific.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Spaceballs it was one of my favorites. And now the
- 5:11Speaker 2: sequel will be out next spring. So Spaceball's two comes
- 5:16Speaker 2: out in April, I think of twenty twenty seven, and
- 5:19Speaker 2: hopefully Mel will be at the premiere. I'm sure he will,
- 5:23Speaker 2: and you know it's going to be a riot the
- 5:26Speaker 2: whole course.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I used to get into trouble.
- 5:30Speaker 2: On Christmas Day, we used to be my friends had
- 5:34Speaker 2: dinner and they say, bring a movie with you, so
- 5:37Speaker 2: I always brought Spaceballs for the kids who are there,
- 5:40Speaker 2: and then I get into trouble with the parents.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but my all time favorite still has happens
- 5:47Speaker 1: to me. And I know it's politically incorrect totally, but
- 5:50Speaker 1: Blazing Saddles.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yeah, Blazing.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I just there is not a scene that isn't a
- 5:56Speaker 1: classic scene in Blazing Saddles. You could quote every single
- 5:58Speaker 1: scene in the movie.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And it's more politically incorrect than almost any movie you've heard.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Said absolutely, and Mel came and showed it a few
- 6:09Speaker 2: just a few years ago. He came and showed it
- 6:12Speaker 2: and ent did the Q and A afterwards, and it was absolutely.
- 6:15Speaker 2: The whole thing was hilarious. So it held up beautifully
- 6:19Speaker 2: after whatever forty years or fifty years, and all of
- 6:23Speaker 2: his stuff pretty much holds up him. Of course, my
- 6:26Speaker 2: our favorite thing is Get Smart, of course, which you know.
- 6:30Speaker 3: He yeah.
- 6:33Speaker 2: And they came up with the Cone of Silence and
- 6:35Speaker 2: the shoe fountain.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Before we had cell phones. That came up with the
- 6:38Speaker 1: shoe phone.
- 6:39Speaker 3: It was great, that's right.
- 6:41Speaker 2: And the Cone of Silence I refer anytime you go
- 6:43Speaker 2: into a noisy New York restaurant, I say, get the
- 6:46Speaker 2: cone of silence.
- 6:48Speaker 1: For those who don't remember. Was this dome like an
- 6:50Speaker 1: upside down Martini glass that would come down from the ceiling,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and that way these secret agents could talk inside. You
- 6:56Speaker 1: could hear it echoing through the room, but supposedly.
- 6:59Speaker 2: They couldn't hear it right exactly, they would be if
- 7:02Speaker 2: couldn't hear anything. And finally that how the chief would say,
- 7:06Speaker 2: get rid of this thing so we can hear each other.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Only melbrook My and of course Melbrooks best friend on
- 7:11Speaker 1: the planet was Carl Reiner, who was a friend of
- 7:14Speaker 1: my grandfather's. I'm from you Rochelle and Carl Reiner used
- 7:18Speaker 1: to live on Bonnie Meadow Drive, but in uh or
- 7:21Speaker 1: Bonnie Meadow Crest. But I think in the Dick Van
- 7:23Speaker 1: Dyke Show they actually gave the address that he lived on,
- 7:27Speaker 1: only they called it Bonnie Meadow Drive instead, But it
- 7:29Speaker 1: was the actual address that melt that Carl Reiner lived at,
- 7:32Speaker 1: which was hysterical. My grandfather used to say, my grandfather
- 7:36Speaker 1: was a contractor. I used to do work there at
- 7:38Speaker 1: that address, and he used to say it on the
- 7:39Speaker 1: Dick Van Dykes Show, which was hysterical.
- 7:42Speaker 2: That's where Rob and Laura lived exactly.
- 7:45Speaker 1: But that was when you could do that.
- 7:47Speaker 2: People living in West Point, living in uh and being
- 7:51Speaker 2: and living in New York when when the show was on,
- 7:53Speaker 2: we thought they were real people.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Absolutely, Hey, listen, we're chatting up a storm on on
- 7:58Speaker 1: on him. He is just a god bless and may
- 8:00Speaker 1: he be another hundred. He's just wonderful, made so many
- 8:02Speaker 1: people happy. We got about a minute left. What is
- 8:06Speaker 1: coming up on the box office this weekend?
- 8:09Speaker 2: The box office is pretty quiet. Toy Story five has
- 8:12Speaker 2: been the big movie. We're waiting right now for The
- 8:17Speaker 2: Odyssey on July seventeenth. And this is going to be
- 8:21Speaker 2: like this is from the director of Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan,
- 8:24Speaker 2: and it's a three hour epic. I haven't seen it yet.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm going to the premiere a few days
- 8:32Speaker 2: before the opening. A few critics saw it the other
- 8:35Speaker 2: day because they're doing it long interviews and apparently it's fantastic.
- 8:40Speaker 2: It's going to be a big, a stunner. So and
- 8:43Speaker 2: this is you know, you know Homer, remember Homer, not
- 8:46Speaker 2: Homer Simpson.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Is the poet, Yes, and.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Putting this together with the you know, Helen of Troy
- 8:56Speaker 2: and the Trojan Horse and all of that it's going
- 8:58Speaker 2: to be it's going to be stunning. Uh. And it's
- 9:02Speaker 2: all live. There's no CGI, there's no computer graphics or
- 9:07Speaker 2: artificial intelligence. It's a it's a live movie. So it's
- 9:10Speaker 2: going to be it's going to be completely.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Wild, very cool.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Everyone's really looking everyone's looking forward to that.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Uh.
- 9:18Speaker 2: And there's lots of great stuff playing on Broadway and
- 9:21Speaker 2: hopefully Broadway.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I'll have a good summer and hopefully Broadway has good
- 9:24Speaker 1: air conditioning.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Well, Broadway, it's a good reason to go to a
- 9:29Speaker 2: museum or a Broadway show is to get out of the.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Heat, exactly to get out to do Roger. We're out
- 9:34Speaker 1: of time here, my friend. Don't forget everybody. It is
- 9:36Speaker 1: showbiz for one one. Check out everything and anything in entertainment.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I know. Roger has to get back to the wedding
- 9:43Speaker 1: right now. The tailor's waiting saying, where is Roger?
- 9:46Speaker 3: And I'm just working on the vows. I'm just working
- 9:49Speaker 3: on the vows right now.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Roger, Happy for my friend, Thank you for coming on
- 9:52Speaker 1: as own.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yes, happy for it to you.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Thank you, Roger. All right, I have a great day.
