Yeah. We've got a cool trip that we do every year. I start off the year by going

up to South Dakota. We go to West Central, South Dakota, and she dubs for a few days at a lodge.

I'm pretty excited to get up there this year and have some fun.

Speaking of dogs he's on his third season now with doves and and,

i remember the first year taking him out i mean there's a few factors that go

into that one they don't put off a lot of scent and two it's it's all temperature

based so obviously you got to make sure you're watching your dog

have small amounts of water available to him but the first like few hunts i

was like what in the world are we doing dude and then And ever since then,

he's got it clipped on pretty good.

I mean, you start shooting some of them that's tail into, you know,

taller grass or anything that way. Having a dog is a huge piece for a conservation

tool, not only for dove hunting, but also waterfowl. It absolutely is.

Reba's not quite the dog that Ace is, but man, I had her on some doves a couple

years ago and their feathers would fall out so much easier.

She would pick it up, walk for about 15 yards, drop it and like shake them feathers

out before she'd pick. She would get it to me, but she dropped it about two

or three times before she actually got it to my feet. Helps with cleaning.

I know last year the dogs got a lot of work in. They did. Yeah,

and there was one time I actually had a little bit of a scare on our second

evening that we were out.

I, he said not drink a ton of water, but enough that I, I was getting worried

and he bloated up just a little bit, nothing too crazy, but obviously made sure

I went and cooled him down.

That's something that's huge. If you are taking a dog out and especially whether

it be waterfowl hunting for teal or dog hunting, just make sure you're being

proactive and taking care of them. Have, have some additional resources there.

Something does go wrong and, and obviously, uh, and, and have that ready for you.

So speaking of, I mean, obviously with it being hot and teal season,

One thing I figured you probably need to watch out for too is just kind of what

the algae is doing in some bodies of water until, until that cold, that frost hits.

That's, you know, that's a major thing. If you've never heard of blue green algae, it is, it is.

It gets confused. I think a little bit. Some guys have brought it up to me and

it's like, no, it's duckweed. Like that's not, that's not like,

oh, I don't want to take it because that's algae. I'm like, that's just duckweed.

I'm like, that's, that's fine. There's a major difference between the two. Yeah.

But, and the other good thing too, I mean, now with your phones and whatnot

Team it or google ai it and all that stuff and get a little better idea of what's

going on but when in doubt just don't take them out you've got

plenty of time to to get your dogs out in the field and and it's definitely

not worth that risk so i know there's been places that i've hunted before that

so usually i can do pretty good for the first opening weekend and then by that

One's not terrible the other the other one's really bad he'll snap at every

while we're talking about cleaning doves i want to know what's your favorite way to eat dove,

favorite way so i've done obviously jalapeno poppers is a is a staple right

i feel like that's kind of what everybody's go to is,

get four jalapenos four jalapeno poppers out of a dove i do uh the other way

we did so similar to the little smokies where you take the barbecue sauce and

a little you know whatever seasonings you want and i'll throw them on a smoker

then you just toothpick them out and you have a a dove breast,

little smoky essentially and it was killer We did it a couple times with a friend.

We break it out during football season. Heck, yeah.

but we'll always save a few goose breasts a year to do some you know if we want

to do like mongolian beef and rice and or something just kind of kick the year off but we ended up,

Between the baby and the move and some friends being busy, we weren't able to

do that quite this year. So I need to get them out and do something with them.

We've still got some that we need to process yet, too. We were talking about doing goose brats.

When I was on the Mississippi this last year, I had a guy that had given me

some, and I'm like, yeah, we're going to make some of this.

I've done smoked summer sausage and everything else that way with it,

and pastrami, but the goose brats are a good one, for sure. One I haven't tried
