- 0:09you know what? It's the only one we
- 0:11have. Hey. Welcome to Lavender Mind. I'm your
- 0:14host, Katie Blanco.
- 0:15If you're new here, welcome to the show.
- 0:17And if you've been here before, welcome back.
- 0:20As always, it helps my show to grow.
- 0:22If awesome people like you share it with
- 0:24a friend, press that check above, or leave
- 0:27a review. I have been very busy lately
- 0:29moving my kiddos and
- 0:31doing some cleaning
- 0:33of houses
- 0:34so that they can move on to the
- 0:36next location for college. I've been cleaning a
- 0:38lot of windows, and one thing I've noticed
- 0:40is in South Louisiana, we have this black
- 0:43film that kinda builds on the windows. And
- 0:46when you clean them really well
- 0:48with your rag, you'll see that black on
- 0:51your on your rag, but then it's so
- 0:53nice when you look through the window because
- 0:55the light can really come through, and it
- 0:58really shines through and makes those windows look
- 1:00nice. And the point to this is I
- 1:03think that we all have access
- 1:06to shine up our windows
- 1:08and to have that really beautiful light that
- 1:11is able to shine through
- 1:14when we
- 1:15access our authentic self. And that's what I
- 1:18wanna talk about today. I think that we
- 1:20all have 2 dimensions to who we are.
- 1:23We have, like, our personal personality level, and
- 1:26then we all have this deeper level inside,
- 1:28the side, the inside that is always there,
- 1:31that we always have access to.
- 1:34It's that authentic self that
- 1:37is accessible,
- 1:38and I wanna talk to you about some
- 1:40ways to access
- 1:42that authentic self today.
- 1:45Our authentic self is that peace inside
- 1:48of us that is available, and it offers
- 1:51peace, a calm, and a joy. And sometimes
- 1:54we notice it when we're in nature, when
- 1:56we're really not doing anything. Maybe we're at
- 1:59the beach,
- 2:00and we just notice that calm
- 2:02sense of self that is there when we
- 2:05are just noticing
- 2:07and paying attention to just our senses and
- 2:10we're out of our thinking mind. We we
- 2:12do this naturally a lot of times in
- 2:15nature. Maybe you're in the mountains
- 2:18and you do the same thing. You just
- 2:20breathe in the air and your thinking mind
- 2:22is
- 2:23not really there anymore. We're not really
- 2:26in doing mode, but we're more in
- 2:28this being type of mode, and we are
- 2:31not using labels to perceive what's around us,
- 2:34but it's kind of this inner stillness
- 2:36that we have inside this peaceful feeling and
- 2:39this peaceful part of us, this
- 2:42authentic self, really, whatever you wanna call it.
- 2:44There are ways to develop that piece of
- 2:47us so that when we have interactions with
- 2:50others others or when our outer circumstances
- 2:53are not super amazing
- 2:55and we
- 2:57sometimes wanna crawl out of our skin, when
- 2:59we have access
- 3:00or we develop this
- 3:01authentic self a little bit more, it helps
- 3:03us to stay calm in the storms.
- 3:06A few practical ways that we can have
- 3:09access to this authentic self inside
- 3:12is to observe ourself, maybe objectively notice
- 3:17how you act and react, especially in challenging
- 3:20situations.
- 3:21Just like an orange, when it's squeezed, it's
- 3:23got orange juice inside, and this is to
- 3:26say that when things hit the fan,
- 3:28are you
- 3:29squeezing orange juice, or are you squeezing stress,
- 3:32or what's coming out of you when things
- 3:34don't go
- 3:36your way? Because our circumstances
- 3:38are not controllable, but the inside of us
- 3:40is. And so when we also are in
- 3:44more alignment with our values,
- 3:46then we have
- 3:48better access
- 3:49to this
- 3:50authentic self. When we think about what is
- 3:53important to us and
- 3:55we are in alignment with that and we
- 3:57keep our core values intact, that also helps
- 4:01for us to stay closer to this authentic
- 4:03self.
- 4:04Another way to access this is to
- 4:08have self acceptance
- 4:10and acceptance of others, loving our flaws and
- 4:12recognizing that we're a work in progress.
- 4:15And then there's also a non doing way
- 4:18to access this. There is that space that
- 4:20we speak about. There is a space
- 4:23when we get quiet and when we are
- 4:25in nature and we don't label and we
- 4:27just observe. That quiet space
- 4:29when we stop and we take in life
- 4:31with a pause and just quiet space,
- 4:34When all the noise
- 4:36goes away and we just look around a
- 4:37room or maybe you're in a subway and
- 4:39you just look around at everyone without judging
- 4:42and without labels,
- 4:44This also gives us access to that quiet
- 4:47space that's always available inside. And like I
- 4:49said earlier,
- 4:50the sounds of the ocean
- 4:52give us that type of space.
- 4:54It's available, and once you realize how to
- 4:56access it, you have it at any time.
- 4:59You can go within when you're feeling a
- 5:01little out of control. You can just take
- 5:03a minute to take a pause and not
- 5:06react or not say the words that are
- 5:09coming to your mind, but just to give
- 5:11that pause before you have that reaction.
- 5:15And when we do this, it allows for
- 5:18so much peace. It's like we're, like, a
- 5:20lampshade. This is analogy that I read or
- 5:23listened to from Eckhart Tolle, and he says
- 5:26that we become more like a lampshade with
- 5:30the light able to pass through us. The
- 5:33light is more available when we have access
- 5:35to our more authentic self. So
- 5:39I know that I wanna be more like
- 5:40a lampshade
- 5:41and allow that light to shine through. We
- 5:44still have our personality.
- 5:46It's just that the light is allowed to
- 5:48come through because
- 5:50we allow ourselves to go beyond our history,
- 5:53and we go beyond our life situations,
- 5:57and we access that authentic self that is
- 6:00deep inside. It's inside you. It's inside me,
- 6:03and it allows us to unpeel all that
- 6:07heavy stuff and allows us to feel a
- 6:09lightness
- 6:10and a joy and a freedom. This type
- 6:13of authentic self is available to you, and
- 6:16it allows us to unpeel those conditions that
- 6:19we're taught. It allows us to unpeel the
- 6:21fears that we pick up along the way
- 6:23as we grow up from childhood. And it's
- 6:26never too late too late to develop it.
- 6:28That illumination
- 6:29is possible, and we all have access to
- 6:32this authentic self. It's less affected
- 6:35by the outer circumstances
- 6:37in our lives. We live true to what
- 6:40is important to our heart and soul, and
- 6:42we live
- 6:43less worried about what the world thinks.
- 6:46Not to say that we don't live a
- 6:48normal everyday life, but we just live that
- 6:50life with a light that is able to
- 6:53shine through.
- 6:54Because we all have our personalities,
- 6:56but then we all have this deeper authentic
- 6:59self, this presence,
- 7:01this stillness, this essence,
- 7:03whatever you wanna call it, your soul. And
- 7:05when we show up with our authentic self,
- 7:09we're able to shine our light a lot
- 7:11brighter on a world that sometimes feels a
- 7:14little bit dim. So, again, some practical ways
- 7:18to
- 7:19access that are to observe yourself. Just notice
- 7:23your reactions.
- 7:24Take an inventory of them without judgment, but
- 7:27just notice how you react to certain things,
- 7:29and maybe next time have a bit of
- 7:31a redo. And another way is just to
- 7:34stay in alignment with your values.
- 7:36Sometimes our stress comes from when we are
- 7:39not doing things
- 7:41that align with the values that we have
- 7:43deep inside.
- 7:44And then a third way is just that
- 7:46self acceptance,
- 7:47not only of ourselves, but of others, just
- 7:50loving our flaws and
- 7:52knowing that we're all a work in progress.
- 7:55And then, again, that non doing way is
- 7:57just taking time to have that space,
- 8:00that quiet time
- 8:01that we can all access when we're in
- 8:04nature,
- 8:05that quiet time
- 8:06when we
- 8:08look around in nature or wherever we are,
- 8:11maybe it's your living room,
- 8:13looking around and just not labeling, not judging,
- 8:16but just
- 8:18being in the space quietly
- 8:20and having that calm sense that's deep inside.
- 8:23Today was kind of a deeper concept. I
- 8:25hope I made
- 8:26sense, and I hope that together we can
- 8:30all access
- 8:31this lampshade,
- 8:33this part of us that has the ability
- 8:36to have that light pass through us, that
- 8:39authentic self that we all have available. It
- 8:41just kinda gets
- 8:43hard to see just like the windows
- 8:45at my daughter's house. You know, we just
- 8:48have to find the ways to
- 8:50wipe off all the judgment and wipe off
- 8:53all the
- 8:54things that are not in alignment with our
- 8:57values
- 8:57and just notice
- 8:59without judging
- 9:00that
- 9:01we are a work in progress and that
- 9:04we all have
- 9:06this piece deep inside.
- 9:08We all have access to it.
- 9:10Sometimes we just have to slow down
- 9:12and just take time to notice that it's
- 9:15there.
- 9:16And sometimes
- 9:18it is also available
- 9:19when we're not doing things all the time,
- 9:22but we are just being,
- 9:24which is sometimes easier said than done because
- 9:27I know we all have those large to
- 9:30do lists, and there are so many things
- 9:33to be accomplished in a day. But sometimes,
- 9:36maybe when you're just walking to your car,
- 9:38just taking that minute to
- 9:40access that calm inside
- 9:43or just noticing the breeze
- 9:46when you are heading into the house,
- 9:49that quiet space that's available inside, that authentic
- 9:53self that you have inside so that you
- 9:56can share it with the world. I hope
- 9:58this helps. I hope together we can plant
- 10:00some seeds of resilience and joy. Have an
- 10:02amazing day.
