- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: did a great job reporting on this provided what information he could about Chris Rodriga's his injury, his absence from practice over the last several weeks.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to dive into that really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll just hit that high button, you know, so check out ginjag.com, pick up some new dooval gear.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: So Ryan O'Halloron again, again
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: Share it about Chris Rodriguez's injury.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about that.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about the rest of the kind of big injuries we're monitoring right now.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: But Chris Rodriguez, there was no information out there about it and Ryan O'Haller and shares that he had a left foot procedure after a minor injury that happened earlier on in offseason training.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: And he's supposed to be ready for the start of training camp and late July.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the update.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we have on Chris Rodriguez.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Left foot procedure.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: And he hasn't been practicing.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's supposed to be ready for camp in late July.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean?
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, with any injury, you can have setbacks different things take a little bit longer to heal than expected.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, though, all we can do is go off of the information that we have.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, we're not going to be seeing him at mandatory minicamp.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Not going to see him until at the very earliest, the start of training camp on the field, like actually working with the team and practicing, he is with the team, so it's not an issue of that.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's just not able to practice right now.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: In the jags, they are banking on Chris Rodriguez to be a back that they can rely on in tough yardage situations, a back that will bring more physicality to the room than they had last year.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: He breaks tackles at a high level.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: He's also a player who brings good patience, vision, and was just extremely efficient in Washington last year.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't get a ton of carries, but the carries he did have, he was very efficient,
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: You look at the numbers, he was towards the top of the league and facing the most amount of defenders in the box when he was on the field, which means opposing defense is we're ready for Chris Rodriguez or they thought they were ready.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: They were prepared from a number standpoint and it didn't matter because he was able to overcome the numbers with some really tough and efficient running.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Rodriguez is a player I think the Jack Wars believe is going to upgrade their interior run game between the tackles run game.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: They have bashed two and who can do a little between the tackles but can also get outside and use that 4-3 speed and some of that agility that he's been showing off this year.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, he's not more East Jones drew in terms of the toughness and the physicality as a short king, right?
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: But he is a tougher runner than you would expect for someone his size.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: He'll break some tackles, he'll finish runs, et cetera.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think that's a nice little duo, and then obviously Lee Quinn Allen is a versatile back.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: They've got some other guys competing, Jamari Taylor, the undrafted free agent who's been very impressive and was impressive in college too, Virginia.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: A guy I thought could have been a fifth round pick.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Probably fifth round more realistically, but you know, I wouldn't have batted an eye if a team took him in the fourth round.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: versatile skill set, good runner, tough runner, load of the ground, good pass catcher, good pass blocker.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he kind of had that complete type of game to him.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Just didn't run super fast.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: And then you have DJ Dallas and Amir Abdullah, two veterans who can compete on special teams as well.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I think they've got a good group, obviously you want to see Chris Rodriguez out there.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: If this injury lasts any longer than it's expected to,
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: What will that mean for Rodriguez and his availability is ability to get out on the field and make an impact?
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think the good thing here is he's not learning an entirely new system, right?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like he does have experience with Liam Cohen.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like this guy has never been around this group of coaches or been around Liam Cohen.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: But every rep that Basel Tutton and Lequan Allen and Jamari Taylor and company are getting that Chris Rodriguez isn't getting.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: missed opportunity for him, and obviously nothing within his control, but basal Tutan and Lee Quang Allen, these young guys, even Jamari Taylor, they're making, they're going to make the most of their opportunities.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: They are hungry.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: They want the football more.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think basal Tutan wants the football as much as he can get it this year.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, he was very focused on making sure he wasn't going to have ball security issues like he did in college and just
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: was swimming a little bit with all the nuances of this offense, but I think he's ready to have a really good season.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: So Chris Rodriguez once he is able to hit the ground running is going to have to do just that.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: And you talk about some of the other injuries.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Well, first off, Chris Rodriguez should he have to miss any time early on in the season, which that is not the expectation at all right now.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: I feel comfortable with the group the Jaguar's have.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: uh... with bachelorette and liquid allen and one of jemari Taylor dj Dallas or and the rubble i really do uh... beyond that at offensive tackle i think is the one area that you're really concerned and we've talked about this a little bit already with walker little bit like it if colvin lane and can't start the season walker little's got a couple tough assignments to get the season going no he's not facing miles garrot with the uh...
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: Cleveland Browns, but Jared versus a really good young player in his own ride, and then the following week against the Broncos, you have Nick Bonita, so you really would love to see Colvin Lannon out there, but you can't rush him back if he's not ready.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have said that you should expect to see Colvin Lannon, Jordan Lewis, Travis Hunter, and training camp.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: But that's kind of vague.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say it lends itself to doubting that
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: But I would say it's just vague.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: And so TBD on Wendell, they'll be really ready to go.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: But the one that I would be most concerned about right now just because we don't have a good timeline on it and I haven't had a lot of information about it is Colvin Lannon, because I would much rather see him healthy against Jared Vers against Nick Bonito than Walker Little at this point.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Beyond that with Travis Hunter, I feel much better, like, you're not supposed to speculate on what you personally think about when the players will be back, trying not to do that.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, they've said, is going to be a full go for training camp.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: He's out there on the practice field.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's not practicing.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't say he's practicing at all, a little bit though, like I mean, he's catching passes from quarterback.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's out there actually on the practice field, not just working off to the side.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: He gets in the huddle, then goes off and gets behind the line of scrimmage and watches everything that's happening and kind of mentally diagnosis everything and where he should be.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: So that was the one where I feel very confident that he will be.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Ready to go and obviously Chris Rodriguez.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: You got to take that at face value.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like he and Rodriguez will be ready to go for the start of training camp Colvin Lannon and Jordan Lewis not as confident, but we'll see With Jordan Lewis the good news is if you had to play a game without him which again I'm not saying the Jaguar is we'll have to play a game without him just if you had to You feel pretty good if you have Travis Hunter
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: probably survived, but you want Jordan Lewis out there.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this guy is a leader on the field.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's somebody who has the ability to force turnovers, to make big plays on the football.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen that consistently during his time here in Jacksonville.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: I definitely am excited to see when all these guys get back.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: If the Jaguars can start the season close to fully healthy, that would be a major win.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: For a team that does face a difficult start to the season again, beyond just a week one against the Browns where you'll be absolutely expected to win, especially with the departure of Miles Garrett, the Jaguars have a very difficult start to the season.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: At Broncos, verse Patriots, at Bingo's Eagles and Texans and London, that is a big time, six games stretched to start the season and then get to your by week.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: So if you can come out of that, not unscathed, but in a good position, you'll be well set up over the next several weeks to make a run towards winning the AFC South, towards making the playoffs, all that good stuff.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot of it's going to depend on health and we,
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: You want to see these guys get healthy?
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where we're at with the injury situation heading into mandatory mini camp practice number one.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Again shout out to Ryan O'Hallorin for the reporting on Chris Rodriguez and go check him out at Jacksonville.com.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: We're in the Florida Times Union and getting ready to go head out to practice.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: So really appreciate you all being here.
