- 1:08Speaker 3: This is like a superstore, this place, it's huge, oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 3: this is one of my favorites.
- 1:13Speaker 2: How are you so andrew one thing?
- 1:17Speaker 3: And let's get to you immediately because this Cowboys loss
- 1:20Speaker 3: obviously some crazy losses in my career for this football team.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Let's get right to your initial thoughts in this game.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 5: I mean it was a game in which they got
- 1:30Speaker 5: off to a fast start offensively, and then what happened
- 1:34Speaker 5: after that was you started to see a lot.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Of penalties, a lot of penalties. Eagles had fourteen penalties
- 1:38Speaker 2: for ninety six yards.
- 1:39Speaker 5: They weren't able to execute crazy and I think that
- 1:43Speaker 5: that's been something that's been a prevailing theme throughout the
- 1:45Speaker 5: season and it hasn't caught up to him until Sunday afternoon.
- 1:49Speaker 5: And that's something that aj Brown was trying to, you know,
- 1:53Speaker 5: alert them to, like trying to get away from some
- 1:56Speaker 5: of that so that it doesn't come back and haunt
- 1:57Speaker 5: them down the line.
- 1:59Speaker 3: It's crazy because they actually had fifteen penalties. One was
- 2:02Speaker 3: offset okay, the Cowboys. They had an offset in penalty.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Fourteen accepted penalties is embarrassing. For a team as good
- 2:09Speaker 3: as the Eagles. That can't happen, and they divided an
- 2:12Speaker 3: offensive defense. Fred Johnson had what free penalties? I think, Yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 3: they're even two on at least two on special teams.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Actually three And how about this one? Back to back
- 2:22Speaker 3: penalties from I don't oven in front of me.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I know A J.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Bront had the second one, and AJ talked about it.
- 2:28Speaker 3: He's like he knows he can't do that. It DeVante
- 2:31Speaker 3: had one as well. Yeah, that which is thank good.
- 2:34Speaker 3: That can't happen. It's just surprising to me. And this
- 2:39Speaker 3: is not the first game, Andrew. They've had penalty problems,
- 2:41Speaker 3: and I know Sirianni is going to take responsibility. And
- 2:44Speaker 3: it's true in coaching, if it's happening, you're allowing if
- 2:47Speaker 3: there's something you're.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Not doing right.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Nicks a fantastic coach, But this cannot happen when you're
- 2:53Speaker 3: up twenty one nothing and then and here's the other thing, Andrew.
- 2:56Speaker 2: So they're moving the ball in the.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Second half, four drives are stalled by penalt like people
- 3:00Speaker 3: were killing Patullo that there are plenty of times you
- 3:02Speaker 3: can get on Kepa Batullo.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Well you could say, I know the fans can't you know,
- 3:07Speaker 2: they latch a lot of coacher. They can't stand. Yeah,
- 3:09Speaker 2: you know how it is. You lived your whole life
- 3:11Speaker 2: in this area. Yeah, so go ahead, Andrew, You're thoughts
- 3:13Speaker 2: in all of this, So I think, yeah, I agree
- 3:15Speaker 2: one hundred percent of what you said.
- 3:16Speaker 5: I think a lot of the the vitrial sent in
- 3:19Speaker 5: the direction to Kevin Bittulo's largely overblown. Now, he is
- 3:22Speaker 5: a culprit, but I've always said this and I maintained
- 3:25Speaker 5: this at him. It is a collective as to why
- 3:27Speaker 5: there are shortcomings for this Eagles offense. But something that
- 3:31Speaker 5: I don't agree with, and I think it's sort of
- 3:33Speaker 5: a theme that I see out there after that game,
- 3:35Speaker 5: and that it was that the Eagles were conservative after
- 3:38Speaker 5: they got out of the twenty one point lead. Look
- 3:40Speaker 5: coming out of the half, they had the eight yard
- 3:43Speaker 5: completion of Grant Cockatara, then a really nice play to
- 3:46Speaker 5: Dallas gott It.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I believe it may have been play action if I'm
- 3:48Speaker 2: remembering it illegal, Yeah, crazy it was Matt Pryor was
- 3:53Speaker 2: covered up.
- 3:54Speaker 5: I think it was Devonte Smith. You look at the
- 3:56Speaker 5: play before Saquon bark We fumbled. It was a sixteen
- 3:59Speaker 5: yard completion into DeVante Smith. Fred Johnson gets caught for
- 4:03Speaker 5: hands to the fake got him up. Come on, Fred like,
- 4:06Speaker 5: well you're better. He's a bested betteran by the way.
- 4:08Speaker 5: So I look at that second half at him, and
- 4:10Speaker 5: they were pushing the ball down the field, they weren't
- 4:12Speaker 5: able to connect it or due to execution lapses. And
- 4:16Speaker 5: this has been something that you look at all the
- 4:18Speaker 5: games this season. They've had spurts where they play a
- 4:21Speaker 5: good half, but you more or less see them fall
- 4:25Speaker 5: victim to ech miscues. And I think that to me
- 4:29Speaker 5: has been the big takeaway coming off that game.
- 4:32Speaker 3: All right now, my one issue. And you're able to
- 4:34Speaker 3: see Greg co SEL's notes, we send them to you.
- 4:38Speaker 3: It's funny because we explain this on the and you'll
- 4:40Speaker 3: see this actually know it hit today the inside the
- 4:43Speaker 3: tape with Greg co Sell, folks, if you've not seen it.
- 4:46Speaker 3: And this is why coach of Kape matters because and
- 4:49Speaker 3: that's the same take that the coaches use. I thought
- 4:52Speaker 3: the offensive line played well well, not as well as
- 4:55Speaker 3: I thought because Greg's notes they had problems with pass
- 4:59Speaker 3: protection way worse DONNA expect it.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I done.
- 5:01Speaker 3: The run block was not good. Think this is just
- 5:05Speaker 3: one of these things you can't know, Andrew, you're training
- 5:07Speaker 3: to camp, Yeah, Okay, be honest. What were your thoughts
- 5:11Speaker 3: of this offensive line overall coming to the season.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I mean I had high expectations, just like I'm sure
- 5:17Speaker 2: most did.
- 5:18Speaker 5: And I go back to something that I said Adam
- 5:21Speaker 5: that I think really rings true, especially now. A lot
- 5:24Speaker 5: was made about the season that Sakwon Barkley had the
- 5:28Speaker 5: four hundred and eighty two touches if you're including the postseason,
- 5:30Speaker 5: but not enough was made about how that kind of
- 5:34Speaker 5: style of play would affect the offensive line, that kind
- 5:36Speaker 5: of attrition, and you saw that manifest early in the season,
- 5:40Speaker 5: whether it was Landon Dickerson, he had a multitude of injuries.
- 5:44Speaker 5: I think the back injury was the one that was
- 5:45Speaker 5: going into the first week. Jordan Mailatta has struggled, and
- 5:50Speaker 5: Cam Jergens had the offseason back surgery.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Tyler Stein's been fine.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Lane Johnson had a couple of injuries this season and
- 5:57Speaker 5: now he's out with the list. Frank, So, I mean,
- 6:00Speaker 5: it's not really a surprise when there's there's going to
- 6:03Speaker 5: be a drop off when you have a future Hall
- 6:05Speaker 5: of Fame right tackle on Lane Johnson who's the best
- 6:07Speaker 5: at what he does, and then you replace him with
- 6:09Speaker 5: Frett Johnson. It's not always going to be as seamless
- 6:11Speaker 5: as what someone on the outside maybe perceive it to be.
- 6:14Speaker 5: And so so I saw a lot of shortcomings from
- 6:17Speaker 5: the offensive line in the game. And normally I will
- 6:20Speaker 5: say this, in past protection they have been relatively so yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 5: but in this game, not only were they deficient and
- 6:26Speaker 5: run blocking, but also in pass protect.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I was surprised. Yeah, Hurts had a solid game.
- 6:30Speaker 3: I know Greg had a couple of criticisms, but he's
- 6:34Speaker 3: not looking at it from TV copy like us at home,
- 6:39Speaker 3: and I asked them off cameras. So, yeah, he did
- 6:40Speaker 3: play well, but you need to see these things better.
- 6:42Speaker 3: His job is coaches will tell you, Andrew when you
- 6:47Speaker 3: great tape. They have the numbers, but they have the
- 6:49Speaker 3: tape and past placement. Hurts the pass behind Brown, bro
- 6:55Speaker 3: made a good catch. He made a good yards after
- 6:56Speaker 3: a catches where you got nice exactly. This has been
- 6:59Speaker 3: a constant issue with people around the league have told me,
- 7:02Speaker 3: you've got to put the ball out there to go
- 7:04Speaker 3: for him to go get the football. He made an
- 7:06Speaker 3: unbelievable anticipation throw, which was in Greg's notes, and that's
- 7:11Speaker 3: actually a sign of growth. That means you're understanding, prestat
- 7:14Speaker 3: what you're looking at, and post step where the ball's
- 7:16Speaker 3: got to go. It's actually really good. Yeah, but he
- 7:18Speaker 3: had a solid game. But the offensive line, Andrew.
- 7:23Speaker 5: It's well, we should also say, while you're on that point,
- 7:26Speaker 5: you can't take that thirteen yard sack on third and
- 7:29Speaker 5: two and that pretty much.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Ended the game. He can't do that. Great point, Andrew,
- 7:35Speaker 2: you gotta throw the football away and you shouldn't be
- 7:38Speaker 2: dropping back that far back.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I mean, you can't better awareness, right, It's it's situational awareness.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Now here's what I did. Like I've been I don't yell,
- 7:48Speaker 3: but I've been imploring them. Could you get Hurts off
- 7:50Speaker 3: to a better start? Get him comfortable and accurate short
- 7:55Speaker 3: area passes.
- 7:57Speaker 2: As John D.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Flippall told me last week, I called coach Flip to
- 8:01Speaker 3: Brow whenever the Eagles in seventeen. I said, hey, how
- 8:02Speaker 3: do you help a quarterback get comfortable? This is a
- 8:06Speaker 3: great line, he said. I want the quarterback to see
- 8:09Speaker 3: my pass target, get the ball and catch it and
- 8:13Speaker 3: feel good that he completed the pass. That's what Kevin
- 8:16Speaker 3: Mattool of the things he struggled with. This is his
- 8:19Speaker 3: fifth year he knows what hurts. His shortcomings are. Yeah,
- 8:22Speaker 3: when your quarterback is struggling to see the field correctly
- 8:27Speaker 3: and not and to not go where the ball supposed
- 8:30Speaker 3: to go, and you want him to put the ball
- 8:33Speaker 3: where it's supposed to go. Get him accurate, get get
- 8:36Speaker 3: him comfortable. And he did that first two plays, twelve personnel,
- 8:40Speaker 3: boom boom. Hurts got off to a great start, they did.
- 8:43Speaker 3: And that's coaching, and he's got to do a better
- 8:45Speaker 3: job of that.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yeah, what you're allowing your quarterback to do is get
- 8:48Speaker 2: into a rhythm. And I think that's the line, and
- 8:50Speaker 2: I think too.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Often the Eagles have gotten away from that to start games,
- 8:54Speaker 5: and it often leads to a radic play in the
- 8:56Speaker 5: passing game. To me, Dallas Goddard would be the prime
- 9:01Speaker 5: example of someone who can be that safety valve. You
- 9:03Speaker 5: can do a lot of different things with them and
- 9:05Speaker 5: those short completions over the middle of flat ones who
- 9:07Speaker 5: should be able to really help jump start the offense.
- 9:10Speaker 5: And I thought that Kevin Patula to start the game
- 9:13Speaker 5: had a really really sound plan of attack.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Now there's a number of reasons.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Why things started, you know, fell by the wayside, penalties,
- 9:20Speaker 5: you know, the penalties, but there were but there I think,
- 9:23Speaker 5: if you're looking for a silver lining encouraging signs is
- 9:25Speaker 5: that there were plays to be made in the second half.
- 9:28Speaker 2: They just did not capitalize on them due to no
- 9:31Speaker 2: fault of their own.
- 9:32Speaker 3: That is the voice of Andrew check Op'm inside the
- 9:34Speaker 3: Birds on Adam Kaplan. You're listening to the Pro Football
- 9:36Speaker 3: Report live here at Chicky and Pete in Marlton, New Jersey.
- 9:42Speaker 3: It's my first time here. This place is huge. I'm
- 9:45Speaker 3: blown away by it. Peach Tirocky's outdone himself with this place.
- 9:48Speaker 3: It's beautiful, pretty awesome, it is.
- 9:50Speaker 2: So what do you have to do? By the way,
- 9:51Speaker 2: what do you have for dinner tonight? Here?
- 9:52Speaker 5: We have the lobster cheese steak, which is becoming a
- 9:55Speaker 5: staple of mine the last few weeks, and it's delicious.
- 9:58Speaker 3: If you haven't tried it, highly encourage it. As a vegetarian,
- 10:02Speaker 3: I order the tomato pie with no cheese. Their tomato
- 10:05Speaker 3: pie is fantastic. It is I highly highly recommend it.
- 10:08Speaker 2: All right, So offensively, I like your points about Goddard.
- 10:11Speaker 3: He has to at least two plays called back due
- 10:13Speaker 3: a penalty, which is ridiculous because him it hurts, you
- 10:16Speaker 3: know it. You and I were there, we were talking
- 10:18Speaker 3: about it. The chemistry they had was real. Godard Scott
- 10:21Speaker 3: with seven touchdowns, but he could be doing so much more.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that he warrants more volume. When you
- 10:28Speaker 5: see what he's able to do, he's been producing. I
- 10:30Speaker 5: think he in many ways. And I go back to
- 10:34Speaker 5: what I was just saying, being that safety valve. There's
- 10:36Speaker 5: a comfort level there, there's a trust there in Jalen
- 10:38Speaker 5: Hurts with Dallas Goddard, and I'm actually surprised. We look
- 10:42Speaker 5: at the touchdowns, but if you look at the receptions
- 10:44Speaker 5: and the targets, I think that he's.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Being even underutilized. I agree. So I'm curious to see
- 10:49Speaker 2: if they're able to take advantage.
- 10:51Speaker 5: And I don't want to get too far ahead, but
- 10:52Speaker 5: the Bears are awfully banged up at linebacker.
- 10:55Speaker 2: This could be a down game. Yep, good point, and
- 10:58Speaker 2: we'll get to the Bear. We'll get the match with
- 11:01Speaker 2: later in the second segment.
- 11:02Speaker 3: But so offensively, that's that's defensively, Andrew, it's really interesting.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Other than the drive that they scored late, their defense
- 11:09Speaker 3: is fantastic. I know that they Eagles could dominate the game.
- 11:13Speaker 2: They only give.
- 11:14Speaker 3: It one explosive run in the first half seven in
- 11:17Speaker 3: the second half. Yeah, now part of it is one
- 11:20Speaker 3: Jomo got hurt. Morojomi came back from that arm or race.
- 11:23Speaker 2: He came back. Yeah, he came back. Something that they
- 11:26Speaker 2: explosive runs by coaching is five yards and more.
- 11:28Speaker 3: That's an explosive run. So they got to tighten that up.
- 11:32Speaker 3: But overall, let's get your thoughts on.
- 11:33Speaker 5: The defense, you know, the Actually I just wrote about
- 11:37Speaker 5: this on Inside the Birds dot com, so on my
- 11:38Speaker 5: takeaways from Vic Vangio. This is where numbers can be deceiving, right,
- 11:42Speaker 5: because you look at four hundred and seventy three total
- 11:45Speaker 5: yards total net yards that they gave up, and you
- 11:47Speaker 5: may think, well, that's a faulty performance by the defense,
- 11:50Speaker 5: But without context, I think.
- 11:53Speaker 2: He did suck as king or contact is king.
- 11:56Speaker 5: So I feel like I look at inside the five
- 11:58Speaker 5: yard line, red blanket ship pick saw Dak Prescott Xavier
- 12:02Speaker 5: Gibson later in the game, fields a ball at the
- 12:04Speaker 5: two yard line, fumbles the football. The Cowboys get the
- 12:07Speaker 5: ball back at the eight yard line, and it looked
- 12:09Speaker 5: like they were going to go in for the go
- 12:11Speaker 5: ahead touchdown at that moment, and that didn't happen because
- 12:14Speaker 5: the Eagles held him out on four downs. And I
- 12:16Speaker 5: think that underscores that that bend but don't break. They
- 12:20Speaker 5: gave up twenty four points. I mean, I think that
- 12:23Speaker 5: should be able to help you win most games. And
- 12:27Speaker 5: you know, outside of some, you know some Javonte Williams
- 12:30Speaker 5: rons and I thought they did a good job stopping
- 12:33Speaker 5: the run. He had eighty seven yards on twenty carries.
- 12:36Speaker 5: And then sometimes you have to tip your cap to
- 12:38Speaker 5: the other player. George Pickens killed them.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Oh, it was phenomenon, has been phenomenal, but high pointing
- 12:43Speaker 2: the football, attacking the catch point, those are all things
- 12:46Speaker 2: that exceptional players do. And he gave even Cooper dejene
- 12:49Speaker 2: fits all right, a couple of things on the gene.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I think what happened was and I.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Understand that you know in base he plays corner, but
- 12:58Speaker 3: it's the sudden change that he's got to change his mind. Okay,
- 13:01Speaker 3: where am I lining up? Okay, I might be lining
- 13:04Speaker 3: up by corner. Of the rest of the game, he struggled,
- 13:07Speaker 3: He gave a free big plays and quite frankly, he
- 13:09Speaker 3: had another penalty. Yeah, clearly did that that hurt them.
- 13:13Speaker 3: There's no question about it.
- 13:14Speaker 5: That could have went either way, honestly, and there was
- 13:17Speaker 5: hand fighting on both sides. Initially I thought that I
- 13:19Speaker 5: thought he grabbed them, but it also like this, But
- 13:22Speaker 5: it also looked like CD pushed off as well.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Initially. Yes, so yeah, I mean they're gonna they're gonna
- 13:27Speaker 2: give that to the receiver every time if it's close.
- 13:30Speaker 3: They just what happened is okaylacking ship gets hurt major
- 13:34Speaker 3: he's he sets everything up in the back end.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Sidney Brown, look, he's just a backup. Okay, he's not
- 13:44Speaker 3: been what the Eagles thought. Tearing his ACL two years
- 13:46Speaker 3: ago and against the Giants, I believe I thought it
- 13:49Speaker 3: was a meniscus.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I don't know whatever it was. Whatever it was was
- 13:53Speaker 2: a major knee injury.
- 13:54Speaker 3: He's never been the same, not physically, mentally, makes a
- 13:58Speaker 3: lot of mistakes. You know about all the special teams penalt.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I know he's very good in special hit another special
- 14:02Speaker 3: team's penalty. By the way, He's a blow average coverage player.
- 14:06Speaker 3: He's just not very good in coverage. He never was
- 14:07Speaker 3: at Illinois. He was a Fox safety who was a
- 14:10Speaker 3: tone center. That doesn't work here. You got to be
- 14:12Speaker 3: able to cover in the National Football League. This is
- 14:14Speaker 3: nineteen eighties, nineteen ninety football. You got to be able
- 14:16Speaker 3: to cover. He's a problem. Before we have to take
- 14:19Speaker 3: this quick break, tell us about Andre sam Yeah, Andre
- 14:22Speaker 3: Sam is in his second year with the Eagles. He
- 14:24Speaker 3: was on the practice squad for the entire year of
- 14:25Speaker 3: last season. He's one of the few players who have
- 14:28Speaker 3: been on the practice squad all season long.
- 14:31Speaker 2: The Eagles roy like him. He went to a number
- 14:33Speaker 2: of different colleges McNee State. Marshall finished at LSU, where
- 14:38Speaker 2: I think he was their defensive player of the year
- 14:41Speaker 2: for LSU.
- 14:42Speaker 5: And he was a highly coveted rookie free agent last
- 14:45Speaker 5: summer or two summers ago. And he's a big hitter.
- 14:50Speaker 2: He's shown signed to promise and coverage.
- 14:53Speaker 5: And he actually was active for one game last season
- 14:55Speaker 5: against the Carolina Panthers, and he played largely on special teams.
- 14:59Speaker 5: But I mean, when they were parsing down their roster
- 15:02Speaker 5: there was I gave some considerable thoughts of putting Andre
- 15:06Speaker 5: Sam on as my final safety they want with Tristan McComb,
- 15:09Speaker 5: but it was that close where I thought he performed
- 15:11Speaker 5: well enough and made that made enough of.
- 15:13Speaker 2: A leap in year two, so we'll see. It's likely
- 15:16Speaker 2: he's gonna have to be elevated here. No, that he
- 15:19Speaker 2: might be.
- 15:19Speaker 3: He might be starting depending on blanket Ship. Now, Michael Carter, Right,
- 15:24Speaker 3: but here's the problem. If Kuth playing corner, which I
- 15:28Speaker 3: think is almost certain, you would really want Michael Carter's
- 15:32Speaker 3: to nickel.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, well tell me who else can? Well, it all
- 15:35Speaker 2: depends on what Vic Fangio deems to be the best
- 15:38Speaker 2: combination going into that game against that particular matchup. And
- 15:42Speaker 2: the Bears are deep at white versus he also is available. Yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 2: Michael said, it sounds like Reid blank Ship is gonna play.
- 15:48Speaker 2: He said he expects to read blank Ship to play
- 15:51Speaker 2: if he does. If he does, who starts next to
- 15:54Speaker 2: blanket Ship? Sidney Brown? Sidney Brown, which is what we thought.
- 15:58Speaker 3: He confirmed that today and today it's Carter, and it's
- 16:02Speaker 3: got to be Carter at nicol and Dejeene at corner
- 16:05Speaker 3: has to be. That's by far to me. What else
- 16:07Speaker 3: could put Jack Corydon Pennett no confidence? And we know
- 16:10Speaker 3: about Ringo. You got a penalty with six naps. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 3: it's kind of obvious.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Yeah, we should also mention that Dorry Jackson suffered ahead
- 16:16Speaker 5: injury in the game, and that's why this is even
- 16:19Speaker 5: a conversation, right, would be his second concussion this season.
- 16:23Speaker 3: This season, by the way, we'll get to the injury
- 16:25Speaker 3: updates next segment.

- 18:55Speaker 3: the birdst Andrew and right now it's time for this
- 18:59Speaker 3: week's injury review, brought to you by the.

- 19:10Speaker 2: That's two one five ato six three six eight nine
- 19:14Speaker 2: for the attorneys at Begley, Carlin and Mandy.
- 19:16Speaker 3: All Right, Andrew, Wow, Okay, let's get to the Eagles,
- 19:20Speaker 3: because there are a lot of Andrews for both teams.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Eagles, leading into the last week's gamer, are one of
- 19:26Speaker 2: the healthiest teams in the National Football League. Yeah, oops,
- 19:28Speaker 2: not anymore. Andrew.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Offensively, when know Lane Johnson's out with this front spring, Okay,
- 19:36Speaker 3: so their hope is somehow by the end of the
- 19:38Speaker 3: season he's ready to go. And we know that Bred
- 19:41Speaker 3: Johnson is his backup, right, so we know that. Let's
- 19:44Speaker 3: get to defense, Moro Joe. Also, Xavier Gibson got hurt
- 19:47Speaker 3: in the game. Oh yeah, here was it a shoulder?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah? Apparently he was in his slang. Okay, you saw, Okay,
- 19:52Speaker 2: I was. I mean, I wasn't there, but that's what
- 19:53Speaker 2: I heard. Let me ask you a question.
- 19:57Speaker 3: You've covered Britain Covey since this rookie season, how great
- 20:00Speaker 3: he was as a returner in twenty two.
- 20:02Speaker 2: What we know he's recovered. I know he's talked about
- 20:05Speaker 2: the neck issue. Yeah.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I talked to someone close to him. He said he's
- 20:09Speaker 3: perfectly healthy. Why do you think he I mean, who
- 20:12Speaker 3: else could other than Britain Covey. Let's talk If Gibson's out,
- 20:15Speaker 3: which seems logical, who else besides Covey, Johan Dotson.
- 20:21Speaker 2: He's fair catching, right, But it then.
- 20:24Speaker 5: Comes down to roster spots, right that you may need
- 20:27Speaker 5: to have multiple defensive backs elevated depending on the situation. True,
- 20:31Speaker 5: and that alters the way that you go about it,
- 20:34Speaker 5: And Johan Dotson's been sure handed, he's fair and drop its.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Call it a bunch of fair cons. Yeah, and I
- 20:40Speaker 2: think there's a comfort level there.
- 20:41Speaker 5: He doesn't have the juice or the shiftiness that Gibson
- 20:45Speaker 5: or even Covey to a degree has in short area.
- 20:48Speaker 5: But I think that's the way that they would lean.
- 20:50Speaker 5: You already have him on the roster, Johan Dotson. All right,
- 20:54Speaker 5: let's get to the defense. We talked about Morojoma with
- 20:57Speaker 5: a hand injury.
- 20:57Speaker 2: He came back.
- 20:58Speaker 3: We'll see if they list him on the injury report,
- 21:01Speaker 3: but which will come out later tonight, by the way,
- 21:03Speaker 3: because so they had a are not going to walk
- 21:05Speaker 3: through right now walk through five point fifteen? Yeah, wow,
- 21:08Speaker 3: that is that's an odd one, all right.
- 21:09Speaker 2: So defensively, so we mentioned of Joemo the hand injury.
- 21:14Speaker 2: The good thing is he came back, all right.
- 21:17Speaker 3: So the big one is Drew Macoba. Their hope is somehow,
- 21:21Speaker 3: some way he can come back for the playoffs. It's
- 21:25Speaker 3: a broken right angle that's a minimum of six to
- 21:27Speaker 3: eight weeks, so we know he's out at least the
- 21:29Speaker 3: regular season. Read blanket ship left thigh injury which will
- 21:34Speaker 3: either show up as thigh or hamstring. Oh, Joy Jackson,
- 21:38Speaker 3: you mentioned before it's we know it's at least a
- 21:40Speaker 3: head injury provo concussion. He because they never they never
- 21:44Speaker 3: said if he was thin. He just didn't come back.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Although one could presume it's a head injury. We just
- 21:48Speaker 3: know that, right, I always right, head until they confirm
- 21:51Speaker 3: it to the injury report. So all right, we just
- 21:53Speaker 3: outlined before the brain. They have a lot of combinations.
- 21:57Speaker 3: It depends on who's available. If blanket chips have been
- 22:00Speaker 3: it's black chipping a city brown obviously. Now cornerback to
- 22:07Speaker 3: me again, it's just so obvious. I know Coop struggled,
- 22:10Speaker 3: but now he gets to have the ones during the week.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Well here's the other part.
- 22:14Speaker 5: You're right, you're right, but they only have a walkthrough
- 22:16Speaker 5: today and a practice tomorrow.
- 22:18Speaker 3: And by the way, it's not a real practice. It's
- 22:20Speaker 3: it's a John g. Flipper told me, you don't you're
- 22:24Speaker 3: own a sure week. There are no real practices. They're
- 22:25Speaker 3: about an hour. It's more like a jock through because
- 22:29Speaker 3: you can't go have an intense practice when you're not
- 22:33Speaker 3: having a normal practice week.
- 22:34Speaker 2: That's it. Bring me through.
- 22:36Speaker 4: He goes.
- 22:37Speaker 3: You know, when you have a Thursday game, it's literally
- 22:40Speaker 3: a walkthrough, yep, because you just played on Sunday, so
- 22:44Speaker 3: you're playing one day later, but then a Thursday game.
- 22:47Speaker 3: But it's just not a normal week and you've got
- 22:49Speaker 3: to get bodies recharge. But mentally it's it's more classroom work.
- 22:54Speaker 3: So whatever they call practice is going to be short.
- 22:58Speaker 2: And the bottom line is mentally they got to get
- 23:01Speaker 2: them sells back. And I think it's actually a good
- 23:03Speaker 2: thing that's a short week. Basically what just happens. Yeah,
- 23:06Speaker 2: I agree, it's at home Black Friday. Their Eagles are
- 23:09Speaker 2: wearing their all black uniforms, so you know, it might
- 23:12Speaker 2: provide a little bit of a jolt to the crowd
- 23:14Speaker 2: and two eight and three teams, but you don't have
- 23:16Speaker 2: a chance to really dwell on what just happened. You
- 23:19Speaker 2: have to look forward. You can't really look back.
- 23:22Speaker 5: And so I think that you're going to see And
- 23:24Speaker 5: I'm curious tomorrow when I speak to some players in
- 23:27Speaker 5: the locker room what the temperature is and how they're.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Feeling about this game on Friday. But I can kind
- 23:33Speaker 2: of just tell you from being there every day.
- 23:35Speaker 5: The mindset is always looking to the opposition, regardless of
- 23:39Speaker 5: who it is, not making it bigger than what it
- 23:41Speaker 5: is and trying to go want to know every week,
- 23:42Speaker 5: Nick Sirianni has done a really good.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Job of keeping his team focused on this task at hand.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Andrew, you mentioned the temperature, and I hate to bring
- 23:50Speaker 3: it up because you know how says siem of weather,
- 23:52Speaker 3: it's gonna be windy. I can't believe this, like I
- 23:54Speaker 3: was hoping, because and I know both quarterbacks have strong
- 23:58Speaker 3: arms gus throughout the game twenty eight through thirty two
- 24:01Speaker 3: miles an hour oh forty.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Degrees that the cult doesn't.
- 24:05Speaker 3: You could you could throw in twenty degree whether as
- 24:08Speaker 3: long as it's not windy. And you know from being
- 24:11Speaker 3: in the link you never know what the crosswinds are like.
- 24:14Speaker 3: And the talking to two people are on the field.
- 24:17Speaker 3: For the Packer game, it was bad and you saw
- 24:21Speaker 3: well the live game was much worse. Karat Gob doesn't
- 24:24Speaker 3: have a strong arm, Hurts does. When you can't throw
- 24:27Speaker 3: with power in the wind, you're in trouble. And you
- 24:29Speaker 3: were at that game.
- 24:30Speaker 2: What were the conditions like for you? I mean as
- 24:32Speaker 2: you I know you walked that. I know you're in
- 24:33Speaker 2: the booth yeah, you're you're in the superbox or the
- 24:36Speaker 2: press box. But what did you think of the conditions
- 24:38Speaker 2: for that Detroit game? Well, I mean the wind kind
- 24:41Speaker 2: of ushered me across the parking lot. And I'm not
- 24:43Speaker 2: a small I'm not as small about this. What happened?
- 24:47Speaker 5: No, I mean, I'm just exaggerating, But it was very
- 24:49Speaker 5: It was very windy, okay, and the winds sort of
- 24:52Speaker 5: dissipated a little bit by kickoff.
- 24:54Speaker 2: But I even talked to a couple of different players
- 24:56Speaker 2: and they said the wind didn't really impact them. Now
- 24:58Speaker 2: I was talking good throwing, Yeah did, but I was
- 25:01Speaker 2: talking more to like a punt returner and how the
- 25:04Speaker 2: wind didn't really alter It's too bad, But from a
- 25:08Speaker 2: passing perspective, there were many times where you could even
- 25:11Speaker 2: see it. For Jared god because he doesn't have a
- 25:12Speaker 2: particularly strong arm, that it would it was, Yes, it
- 25:16Speaker 2: altered its trajectory. And uh, for Jalen there are throws
- 25:19Speaker 2: he throws with some zip, but there are throws that
- 25:21Speaker 2: he normally makes that were affected by thee A couple
- 25:24Speaker 2: correct elements. Let's get to the Bears. Roshawn Johnson is
- 25:27Speaker 2: on an IR.
- 25:27Speaker 3: He's their certain number three back Kyle mcnung guy, the
- 25:30Speaker 3: seventh round running back from Rutgers.
- 25:32Speaker 2: You were at that pro day, tell us about it.
- 25:35Speaker 5: In fact, there was three players on the Bears that
- 25:37Speaker 5: I was at the pro Jakwan Brisker, Reuben Hypelite, and
- 25:41Speaker 5: Kyle mcnunguy. So Kyle mcanunguy is a compact runner. In fact,
- 25:45Speaker 5: his brother Kevin back in I think it was the
- 25:48Speaker 5: Chip Kelly era. He went to Villanova, he was a
- 25:52Speaker 5: rookie free agent, and Kyle actually asked him about it.
- 25:54Speaker 5: He goes, yeah, I remember watching my brother play at
- 25:55Speaker 5: the Link. I was like thirteen years old.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Wow. But he's a compact runner. Kind of reminds me
- 25:59Speaker 2: a little bit of Doug Martin, the late Doug Martin,
- 26:01Speaker 2: and in the way that he runs with power, he
- 26:03Speaker 2: has some juice and he's more of an inside type
- 26:05Speaker 2: of runner, and he compliments DeAndre Swift. So it's kind
- 26:10Speaker 2: of like a slash and dash type of a situation
- 26:13Speaker 2: that they have there in their backfield. But I was
- 26:15Speaker 2: very impressed with Kyle, and I actually.
- 26:17Speaker 5: Had a fifth round grade on him because I mean,
- 26:19Speaker 5: he just had a tremendous pro day, caught the ball
- 26:21Speaker 5: really Well ran some good routes.
- 26:23Speaker 2: And we know that he can run, so I think
- 26:25Speaker 2: he starting to come on a little bit.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Other than that, they're perfectly healthy. Defensively, they're not all right.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Dio Dengbo wanted up starting Edges is out for the season.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Toward Achilles at linebacker. You mentioned before the break, Tremaine
- 26:36Speaker 3: Edmunds out their best linebacker, one of the high sped
- 26:38Speaker 3: inside backers of the National Football League, with a groin injury.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Just went on IRA last week.
- 26:43Speaker 4: T J Edwards.
- 26:45Speaker 3: He's missed six games this season with hamstring and now
- 26:47Speaker 3: the hand injury. They didn't put him on IR no,
- 26:50Speaker 3: but he's missed three games. They're on a short week.
- 26:54Speaker 3: See what the injury report says. And no Sewell, who's
- 26:56Speaker 3: been a top backup linebacker. He missed last week with
- 26:59Speaker 3: new elbow injury. In a short week.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Hippolet got hurt. He has a shoulder injury. He had
- 27:05Speaker 2: just a fantastic brod. I think he helped his stock
- 27:08Speaker 2: went the fourth round round.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so they went with Hippolyte and Jackson,
- 27:13Speaker 3: a linebacker they claimed off waivers. They're down to one
- 27:15Speaker 3: healthy linebacker behind those guys. On their fifty three man
- 27:19Speaker 3: Robb Jones, Right, Yeah, they're in trouble. This helps obviously
- 27:23Speaker 3: the Eagles. You mentioned a great point. Got her down
- 27:25Speaker 3: the scene and we'll see who's healthy. We'll learn later
- 27:29Speaker 3: tonight and then in the secondary.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Now this is interesting. Jalen Johnson, who Jeff and I
- 27:34Speaker 2: actually interviewed. I got eight years ago. Yeah, I got
- 27:37Speaker 2: you guys in touch with him? Yeah, thank you.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Doug Henderson was his agent. I think he might
- 27:41Speaker 3: still be. He's a groin injury. He had a kef
- 27:43Speaker 3: injury earlier. He's only played two games this season. A
- 27:46Speaker 3: phenomenal corner went healthy. He's had made he made you
- 27:49Speaker 3: shoulder problems in college. He started practicing week eleven. He's
- 27:53Speaker 3: been designated for returns when he's close. Carlo Gordon There,
- 27:57Speaker 3: Nicol who she sees Hey Gardner Johnson's filling in for
- 28:02Speaker 3: CJ's But Dona, this guy is such a good football player.
- 28:05Speaker 3: If he just keep his mouth shut, he might actually
- 28:08Speaker 3: find a home here. He's a really good football player.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Carlo Gordon started practicing week twelve. Last week he said
- 28:15Speaker 3: hamstring growing at calf injuries. Now, the great story is
- 28:20Speaker 3: this nay Sean Wright nobody wanted Dallas didn't want him,
- 28:24Speaker 3: the Vikings didn't want him.
- 28:26Speaker 2: One of the tallest corners of the National Football the Injuria,
- 28:28Speaker 2: six foot four. He's done a great job. I like
- 28:30Speaker 2: him at Oregon State. I followed his career because he
- 28:32Speaker 2: was actually on the Netflix special Last Chance You Call,
- 28:37Speaker 2: and I sort of followed his career going from there.
- 28:40Speaker 2: And this is just a tall corner.
- 28:43Speaker 5: He's physical and he liked the length there where he
- 28:46Speaker 5: can kind of narrow and throwing windows and battle on
- 28:49Speaker 5: those contest catches.
- 28:50Speaker 3: And one more thing, a guy who might be starting,
- 28:52Speaker 3: former Charger linebacker Amen Ogbon Bamiga.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Very well done. Okay.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I actually had my voice coach to teach me Ogban
- 29:02Speaker 3: then Bamiga. I don't want to say that five times.
- 29:05Speaker 3: He actually may have to start. So they don't know
- 29:07Speaker 3: yet who's gonna be starting at linebacker. But that is
- 29:10Speaker 3: this I'm out of breath with all these injuries, man.
- 29:12Speaker 3: That is this week's injury review, brought to you by

- 36:04Speaker 2: so long. I just because of our company, I got
- 36:08Speaker 2: to be home.
- 36:09Speaker 3: It's it's hard because then the funny thing, because the
- 36:11Speaker 3: podcast is going to John mcballan does the spot in there.
- 36:16Speaker 2: People do their It's much better being a home. I
- 36:19Speaker 2: do miss going you're see agents and the Carter.
- 36:22Speaker 3: There are a lot of guys I'd like to meet,
- 36:23Speaker 3: and you just go to Chicki's piece in the back
- 36:25Speaker 3: room there after the games on Sundays.
- 36:27Speaker 2: But hey, I'm glad to be here.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Chicky Beza marks in New Jersey. So keys of the game, Ander,
- 36:31Speaker 3: Let's get to the offense. What do they need to
- 36:34Speaker 3: do to score points and beat the Bears on offense?
- 36:37Speaker 5: Well, they have to run block a lot more proficiently
- 36:40Speaker 5: than they have been because this is another game on
- 36:43Speaker 5: paper that the Bears are susceptible to giving up yards
- 36:48Speaker 5: on the ground. And I think that you talk about
- 36:51Speaker 5: the weather conditions, the wind is going to be a
- 36:54Speaker 5: big factor. So it behooves the Eagles to find a
- 36:57Speaker 5: way to jump start the running game with Sawmarkley and
- 37:01Speaker 5: I mean that there is that that is the most
- 37:04Speaker 5: logical paths to victory in my estimation.
- 37:07Speaker 2: And then defensively, I would like to.
- 37:09Speaker 5: See the pass rush picked up where I left off
- 37:11Speaker 5: against the Lions game, because I know the Bears have
- 37:14Speaker 5: They've done a lot of work on their offensive line,
- 37:16Speaker 5: but the from the off the edges.
- 37:19Speaker 2: They were very silent against the calatay and and Vick
- 37:23Speaker 2: other than the unbelievable Nakobe Dean sak. Yeah, he said
- 37:27Speaker 2: he this is what I didn't understand him.
- 37:29Speaker 3: It could have been and I know sometimes you have
- 37:32Speaker 3: to protect yourself when you're losing two starters of the secondary.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Maybe that's why he blitz at all. Like I think
- 37:37Speaker 3: he had six, which is insane. That's look because it's funny.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Earlier in the season he was blitzing a lot. Now
- 37:42Speaker 3: it's this game he did. No When you look at
- 37:47Speaker 3: the Bears defense, other than Montes Sweat, I remember Dio
- 37:52Speaker 3: Dengbo lost. These lost the season with twenty kicks. They
- 37:54Speaker 3: don't have very good pass rush. Andrew Billings is one
- 37:56Speaker 3: of the d tackles. They're okay de tackle.
- 37:58Speaker 2: He's sort of a journeyman. He was with the It's exactly.
- 38:01Speaker 3: This is a very beautable front line backwards. If they're
- 38:05Speaker 3: all healthy, great, but they're not. You don't even know
- 38:07Speaker 3: what's gonna line up.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Yeah, this is the way I see it.
- 38:11Speaker 3: And again it's secondary. You don't know who's going to
- 38:13Speaker 3: be a corner. There's nothing I worry about. If I'm
- 38:17Speaker 3: Patulo and Sirianni and pars Fraziers involved a little bit
- 38:23Speaker 3: to me if you could protect and that's a big
- 38:26Speaker 3: deal that this is not They don't. Cowboys are much
- 38:28Speaker 3: better definitely defensive line. If the wind holds up Andrew,
- 38:32Speaker 3: there's gonna be places to be made. Also in the
- 38:34Speaker 3: pass game.
- 38:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so, especially from a defensive perspective, you
- 38:38Speaker 5: should be able to get you. Now, Caleb Williams has
- 38:40Speaker 5: a strong arm, but I think it depending on how
- 38:44Speaker 5: the wind affects the trajectory. If you're an Eagles defensive
- 38:47Speaker 5: back or even a linebacker, you might be able to
- 38:49Speaker 5: pounce on that. And I want to circle back to
- 38:51Speaker 5: something that I said about the pass rush. You have
- 38:54Speaker 5: a young quarterback in Caleb Williams.
- 38:55Speaker 2: You can capably throw the football, but he's not overly
- 38:58Speaker 2: consistent at this state. He's still young.
- 39:01Speaker 5: There's been glimpses of things that make he kind of,
- 39:04Speaker 5: you know, raise your eyebrows only on the ball sometimes,
- 39:06Speaker 5: but he holds onto the ball. And I think when
- 39:09Speaker 5: you think of these conditions and the circumstances it could
- 39:13Speaker 5: you know, conjure the opportunity to pick off pick off
- 39:15Speaker 5: a pass.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Or toot a couple of notes so offensively when the
- 39:18Speaker 3: Eagles happened, and it was great to see aj and
- 39:20Speaker 3: Brown get off that great start. And yes they had
- 39:23Speaker 3: penalties in the second half that that crushed their passing game.
- 39:26Speaker 2: But even if Jalen Johnson gets hurt, who knows how
- 39:30Speaker 2: healthy he'll be, that can't stop you.
- 39:33Speaker 3: I know he's really good when he's healthy, great technicians,
- 39:36Speaker 3: really good football player. And Tyred Stevenson on the other
- 39:39Speaker 3: side of Miami, right, who can be beat. I'll be
- 39:43Speaker 3: interest to see what they do because na Shawn Wrighty's
- 39:44Speaker 3: played really what six foot four and one.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Tenth of financial end.
- 39:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he's kind of one of those defensive
- 39:49Speaker 5: backs that gets overlooked and he's a steady player, and
- 39:53Speaker 5: I think when you look at his unique dimensions, he
- 39:56Speaker 5: doesn't leave a lot of room for error. If you're
- 39:58Speaker 5: a quarterback, right, he has the length of he can,
- 40:00Speaker 5: you know, really give you a hard time on those
- 40:02Speaker 5: contested throws. So yeah, I mean, if you're the Eagles,
- 40:06Speaker 5: I think you want to get that early shorts, intermediate
- 40:10Speaker 5: passing game going and loosen things up a little bit
- 40:12Speaker 5: and then try and pounce and take advantage and play
- 40:14Speaker 5: physical vulleyball style with Saquon Barkley.
- 40:19Speaker 3: One other thing that I want to see from this
- 40:21Speaker 3: offense is, and we don't mention this enough, not that
- 40:25Speaker 3: they're the greatest screen team in the world, but and
- 40:27Speaker 3: I know there have been these play breaks down and
- 40:30Speaker 3: hers just gets rid of it.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Could you bring the screen game and.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Our guy Shipley, we know he's explosive. Could you get
- 40:37Speaker 3: him involved in the screen game a little bit. It
- 40:39Speaker 3: doesn't have to be third down, There's nothing wrong with
- 40:42Speaker 3: letting him fill in a little bit. And let's talk
- 40:44Speaker 3: about our guy, Tank Bixby. Let's see him get Evovo right.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, I mean Will caught about fifty wheel routes
- 40:52Speaker 2: in training camp. He was being linebackers safeties.
- 40:56Speaker 5: We haven't seen that in the regular season, but he
- 40:59Speaker 5: is their most equipped running back in terms of pass catching.
- 41:03Speaker 2: And I think that when you look at the offense,
- 41:05Speaker 2: it is what it is.
- 41:06Speaker 5: But there are certain things that I believe you can
- 41:08Speaker 5: do from a personnel grouping standpoint and incorporate other players
- 41:12Speaker 5: in to kind of add some variants, and Will Shipley
- 41:14Speaker 5: would be one of them.
- 41:15Speaker 2: And you mentioned Tank Bigsby.
- 41:17Speaker 5: I talked to Tank Friday, okay, and he you know,
- 41:20Speaker 5: really I always enjoyed my conversations with him. But I
- 41:23Speaker 5: was talking to him about his decisiveness, decisiveness as.
- 41:26Speaker 2: A runner, where was that derived from? And he kind
- 41:29Speaker 2: of creates his own holes. And he said, sometimes I
- 41:32Speaker 2: watch film and I don't even know how I did
- 41:33Speaker 2: some of that stuff. So I think he's somebody that
- 41:36Speaker 2: you can give seven eight carries a game. That's the number.
- 41:39Speaker 3: It's funny you say that. I was talking to telling
- 41:41Speaker 3: today about that who works for another team, And I
- 41:43Speaker 3: asked us, do you remember you're scouting with your team,
- 41:45Speaker 3: scouting before he goes Yeah, he runs just like he
- 41:48Speaker 3: runs now, choppy, explosive to the outside.
- 41:51Speaker 2: He gets a little bit carried away of trying to
- 41:54Speaker 2: break everything outside.
- 41:55Speaker 3: He's gotten away with it so far. He's on a
- 41:57Speaker 3: limited carries. But that's I've heard him last year with Jacksonville.
- 42:00Speaker 3: But he's such a great contrast to.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Barkley. To Barkley, they got to get him the ballmore.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Because listen, I'm not saying they got to replace bark
- 42:09Speaker 3: Obviously you don't do that, it's ridiculous, but get it
- 42:12Speaker 3: more in folf because they got to get Andrew.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Moore on the run game.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:15Speaker 5: I mean on paper this this looks to be one
- 42:18Speaker 5: of those matchups where it favors the running game. And
- 42:20Speaker 5: we've said that now for a number of weeks and
- 42:22Speaker 5: we haven't really seen it manifest. I mean, say, Kwon Barkley,
- 42:25Speaker 5: I think he's on pace. You said it seven hard, brother.
- 42:29Speaker 3: I was doing the calculations like this can't be right,
- 42:31Speaker 3: and I did it three times, Like he's on pace
- 42:34Speaker 3: to almost a thousand yards lesson last er eight.
- 42:36Speaker 2: It's just wow.
- 42:37Speaker 3: And to my to my eye, he looks to be
- 42:41Speaker 3: the same guy. Greg said, he's, he's, he's he thinks
- 42:45Speaker 3: he's trying too hard for self. That well, that I
- 42:47Speaker 3: agree with, But I don't know. I don't think that
- 42:49Speaker 3: he lost his step. He runs hard when holes are there,
- 42:53Speaker 3: he's able to kind of accelerate through.
- 42:55Speaker 2: It, and you know there's areas of opportunity and pass protection.
- 42:59Speaker 2: But he's always been like that. But he doesn't look
- 43:01Speaker 2: like he's lost his step. I don't believe that.
- 43:03Speaker 5: I think sometime he presses a little bit and doesn't
- 43:06Speaker 5: necessarily take what's in front of him and tries to hit.
- 43:08Speaker 2: That home run. But yeah, I mean, I'm they got
- 43:11Speaker 2: to continue to lean on him.
- 43:12Speaker 3: All right, let's get to spetcher teams. There's a lot
- 43:14Speaker 3: going on here with the win. Jake ellahead that one
- 43:17Speaker 3: great win kick against Detroit was a great kick, but
- 43:21Speaker 3: he said a fifty six or fifty fifty six. I
- 43:24Speaker 3: thought all Breds was.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Fifty one right, and over also missed one. Yeah, Elliott's
- 43:30Speaker 2: missing kicks. This here not a lot.
- 43:32Speaker 3: He's way better than he was last season, but that's
- 43:34Speaker 3: a concern though. I'm not sure what happened there. And
- 43:37Speaker 3: then Braiden Man, if he's not a pro bawler, this
- 43:40Speaker 3: is throw us. But so far he's been phenomenal. He's
- 43:42Speaker 3: braid Man has been outstanding. He put three puns inside
- 43:45Speaker 3: the twenty. And this isn't just this game really.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Since he arrived in Philadelphia, he's provided a spark and
- 43:51Speaker 2: helped the team out in a big way in terms
- 43:54Speaker 2: of field position. He doesn't get enough credit, but I
- 43:57Speaker 2: think he should be an all pro. I think he
- 44:00Speaker 2: should be an all pro. Yep, I would agree with that.
- 44:04Speaker 3: And then really to me with a punt and kickoff returns,
- 44:07Speaker 3: So kickoff return wise, well.
- 44:11Speaker 2: That's where it's interesting because it was Shipley and Gibson
- 44:14Speaker 2: and Tank Bigsby didn't fare well in that area.
- 44:17Speaker 5: He's not he's not a natural kick returner. He was
- 44:19Speaker 5: kind of shoehorned into that role. So it becomes interesting
- 44:23Speaker 5: as to how they choose to navigate that, and you
- 44:27Speaker 5: start running out of ideas, running out of options pretty quickly. Shipley,
- 44:31Speaker 5: Britain Covey is a punp returner or J.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Dillon if they have a master. But yes, he's he's yeah,
- 44:36Speaker 2: he's a J. Dellen is not really I mean he's
- 44:38Speaker 2: done it, but he's not. That's not his forte.
- 44:40Speaker 3: But but no special teams. Coaches have told me that
- 44:42Speaker 3: the one thing you like them with the rules changes,
- 44:44Speaker 3: it's like inside zone. Well, you also want to power
- 44:47Speaker 3: guy with because it's more physical because the the coverage
- 44:49Speaker 3: team is way up there.
- 44:52Speaker 2: They like bigger guys. It's actually imperative that ship would
- 44:54Speaker 2: put that that mass on you. We're tell us about
- 44:56Speaker 2: he did this season. Yeah, so that it would probably
- 45:00Speaker 2: have to be doing you started. Darius Cooper has done
- 45:04Speaker 2: it in the preseason, and you know that might be
- 45:08Speaker 2: an option. He's already active. He's pins shoulder twice, so
- 45:11Speaker 2: we'll see.
- 45:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:12Speaker 5: Yeah, but he's at least in the mix. He's been
- 45:14Speaker 5: active every week. He's part of the short yard situation. Yeah,
- 45:18Speaker 5: so who knows that would be the other player that would.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Make some sense.
- 45:21Speaker 3: So there's a lot going on with this game because
- 45:24Speaker 3: of injury, and the injury report will be out later
- 45:26Speaker 3: tonight and when I'm very curious to see who they
- 45:27Speaker 3: have listened because Andrew. The one thing that always pains
- 45:31Speaker 3: me is this is a poppe pop up injury we
- 45:33Speaker 3: didn't know about.
- 45:34Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, man, you know if you played Fantasy right,
- 45:37Speaker 2: I don't you know? I didn't. I thought you'd never
- 45:39Speaker 2: played it. This is the second year in a row.
- 45:42Speaker 2: How he stopped. Yeah, I'm actually the only one week
- 45:43Speaker 2: I step had had any time to do it. That's
- 45:45Speaker 2: the thing with me. I just don't have any time. Yeah.
- 45:46Speaker 3: I used to love doing it, but time is everything.
- 45:50Speaker 3: Our time is is personal. But we are a Chicky
- 45:53Speaker 3: and Peach of Marlton.
- 45:54Speaker 2: New Jersey. By the way, this is the Pro Football Report.
- 45:56Speaker 3: Next week, we'll be back at Chicki's and Roosevelt Boulevard.
- 46:00Speaker 3: We're hoping that will shipley tonight.
- 46:02Speaker 2: But here's what happened. They have a walkthrough. They had
- 46:04Speaker 2: a walk through that just ended. So locking room's going
- 46:07Speaker 2: on right now.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and he would have been here, So we look

- 49:33Speaker 3: everybody there. We enjoy being here at Chicken Piece in Manton,
- 49:36Speaker 3: New Jersey. This place is a super restaurant. This is
- 49:41Speaker 3: one of the biggest sports bars I've ever been in,
- 49:42Speaker 3: to be honest with a real comed across the United States.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Don't forget there's an outside portion of this.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Which I'd love to be at when it's warmer. Yeah,
- 49:51Speaker 2: that'd be nice.
- 49:53Speaker 3: But Andrew, we're glad to be here, and it's a
- 49:57Speaker 3: short week. Three o'clock Friday, and I love Fangio, So let's.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Get to it.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Okay, Big Fangrids today, give us the Cliptes version of
- 50:08Speaker 3: what bit said.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Well, I mean, he mentioned Sidney Brown and what he's
- 50:12Speaker 2: done behind the scenes, staying in tune in the meetings
- 50:15Speaker 2: and more so from an intangible standpoint, and he said
- 50:19Speaker 2: he's looking forward to seeing what he can do confirm
- 50:22Speaker 2: that he's going to be the starter in place in
- 50:24Speaker 2: Macouba mentioned Cooper Dejene playing outside. He wasn't surprised that
- 50:28Speaker 2: he struggled a little bit. He said, look, they've got
- 50:30Speaker 2: two good players at wide receiver, two top notch receivers,
- 50:33Speaker 2: and that's kind of the way that it goes.
- 50:35Speaker 5: Said that he thought he had tight coverage around the
- 50:38Speaker 5: catch point, and he talked about what did he talk
- 50:44Speaker 5: about the penalty about subbing. I have to go back
- 50:47Speaker 5: and read my quote for that, but I saw on
- 50:49Speaker 5: my ex account and he talked about Michael Carter and
- 50:53Speaker 5: that he can play safety, he's been their fourth.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Safety for the past few weeks, and and cited what
- 50:58Speaker 2: he likes about him.
- 50:59Speaker 5: I think that's a that's going to have a big
- 51:01Speaker 5: role out of necessity, of course, but I think he's
- 51:03Speaker 5: gonna kind of carve out a role when everyone's even healthy,
- 51:06Speaker 5: because it seems to me that vic Bango is intrigued
- 51:09Speaker 5: with what he has there. Smart football player, has played
- 51:12Speaker 5: a lot of football, and it's that of Vonte Maddox
- 51:14Speaker 5: like versatility that he has that I think is going
- 51:16Speaker 5: to lend itself to carving out a more substantial role.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Let's not forget he he has a as at one
- 51:22Speaker 3: point one of the highest paid nickels in the National
- 51:24Speaker 3: Football League, Michael Carter.
- 51:25Speaker 2: So it's interesting. So when the trade happened, you know,
- 51:29Speaker 2: I called Jeff.
- 51:29Speaker 3: I said, hey, here, they're going to play him at
- 51:31Speaker 3: safety and just in the nickel, and he goes, really yeah,
- 51:33Speaker 3: They're thinking was based on the versatility, which you just
- 51:37Speaker 3: talked about. Not a cornerback, He's a nickel who they
- 51:42Speaker 3: thought could play safetycause he played in college at Duke
- 51:44Speaker 3: and although the Jets rarely played him at safety because
- 51:47Speaker 3: they move him immediately to nickel, he just thought he
- 51:49Speaker 3: could do it because he's done in the past and
- 51:52Speaker 3: talk about coming in handy with the all of a sudden,
- 51:55Speaker 3: you just never know what injury is going to happen,
- 51:57Speaker 3: and you better have that versatility. I'm gonna tell you
- 51:59Speaker 3: a quick story. So I don't know what year it
- 52:02Speaker 3: was now, I know Maddox was drafted in twenty eighteen.
- 52:05Speaker 2: But remember.
- 52:08Speaker 3: So Maddox was drafted to being a nickel, right, So
- 52:13Speaker 3: they had a slew of safety injuries and Jeff and
- 52:16Speaker 3: I we couldn't get the intel and what they were
- 52:19Speaker 3: going to do move to safety, so we guessed it
- 52:22Speaker 3: could have been four players. We both got it wrong.
- 52:23Speaker 3: We didn't think Maddox he never played before. See, this
- 52:26Speaker 3: is about practice. And I know because when you get
- 52:29Speaker 3: ten minutes to watch now fifteen, yeah about that. So
- 52:33Speaker 3: they it's not like they're not what don't want to
- 52:36Speaker 3: show you. Sometimes you just unless you ask someone inside
- 52:39Speaker 3: the building, you're not going to know. And we were
- 52:41Speaker 3: all like, and I think they might have played Tennessee
- 52:43Speaker 3: that first week if my memory save correctly, what year
- 52:46Speaker 3: was this, It's nineteen or twenty.
- 52:47Speaker 2: I don't remember. Oh, I was gonna say twenty eighteen.
- 52:50Speaker 2: I remember they had last drafted or that drafted. He
- 52:52Speaker 2: played some safety in that game. And that was the
- 52:55Speaker 2: Pickett defense I remember, yees, okay, I think it was.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Was it the Kenny what was the great res here
- 53:02Speaker 2: from Rutgers and britt was two thousand and eight? Someone
- 53:06Speaker 2: got him? Someone got it.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Might have been Corey Davis, Yeah, yeah, it was and
- 53:11Speaker 3: the pick Fence game. But I just remember we were like, wow,
- 53:14Speaker 3: they're moving.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Him to safety. We were a trading camp. We never
- 53:17Speaker 2: saw that.
- 53:18Speaker 3: So what happens sometimes is coaches will tell you we
- 53:22Speaker 3: got to do what we got to do. Like, we're
- 53:23Speaker 3: not worried about what the bands think or the media thinks. Look,
- 53:27Speaker 3: it's like when Fanju moved on to it to backer,
- 53:30Speaker 3: he never played it before. Really, He's like, I saw
- 53:33Speaker 3: some stuff on tape that showed he could probably do it,
- 53:36Speaker 3: but you know it would be this good traits, right exactly,
- 53:39Speaker 3: there's something and you have to have intelligence and Devonte
- 53:44Speaker 3: has that. You also have to have someone who's a
- 53:46Speaker 3: willing learner and is willing to do it because it's
- 53:49Speaker 3: going to be interesting. Getting over to Cookoo Regen at
- 53:51Speaker 3: some point. This is only year two. He could be
- 53:54Speaker 3: paid after year three. Jeff brought this up when Vic
- 53:58Speaker 3: surprised us, because you know, we've put it when he
- 54:01Speaker 3: was drafted, we said there the belief that the building
- 54:03Speaker 3: was He's only a corner and then he was behind
- 54:06Speaker 3: because of Hamster Country and Vic's pulment Nickel, and he
- 54:09Speaker 3: was so good he didn't move him back until he
- 54:13Speaker 3: set side and base. I don't know if Vic really
- 54:16Speaker 3: knows what his position is in the future. What are
- 54:18Speaker 3: your thoughts of him? Let's talk about this, Yeah, what
- 54:20Speaker 3: is his position? What do you think for Cooper past
- 54:24Speaker 3: the season? I view him as a nickel or safety.
- 54:26Speaker 5: I scattered him as a safety really yeah, with nickel versatility.
- 54:31Speaker 5: That's not to say he can't play on the outside
- 54:33Speaker 5: because he's a tremendous athlete, has good length, and he's competitive.
- 54:37Speaker 2: I think he can do it with more reps.
- 54:39Speaker 5: But I kind of just viewed him the way that
- 54:41Speaker 5: he plays and being able to tackle and blitz and
- 54:43Speaker 5: all these things.
- 54:44Speaker 2: I think to put him on the outside would be
- 54:46Speaker 2: a disservice if you're primarily having him on the boundary.
- 54:50Speaker 2: But I thought that there was other things that he
- 54:52Speaker 2: can do.
- 54:54Speaker 5: But to go back real quickly to the safety position
- 54:57Speaker 5: in general, I want to make this very to those
- 55:00Speaker 5: listening in Vick's defense, to be a safety or a
- 55:04Speaker 5: linebacker requires considerable responsibility.
- 55:07Speaker 2: You have to have a high IQ, you have to
- 55:09Speaker 2: be versatile, and you have to be able to process
- 55:11Speaker 2: things and get guys lined up. So read Blankenship is
- 55:16Speaker 2: going to be instrumental in this game if he's able
- 55:18Speaker 2: to go, which if you're listening to what Vic had
- 55:20Speaker 2: to say earlier, it seems like he's going to be.
- 55:23Speaker 3: Yeah, and that would be his because that changes everything.
- 55:25Speaker 3: If he's not available, it's a major problem. He literally
- 55:29Speaker 3: sets everything up. Yeah, like he's so smart. It's this
- 55:34Speaker 3: is what's so funny about Blankenship.
- 55:35Speaker 2: I think he was a five year starter MTS he
- 55:38Speaker 2: was Okay, I get he's not fast, so what that
- 55:41Speaker 2: doesn't make him draft a ball? How sad?
- 55:44Speaker 5: Hard is take been? You should see how many tackles
- 55:46Speaker 5: he had. He may have had five hundred tackles in college.
- 55:49Speaker 5: He's edical teams Andrew It's ridiculous. It's fat scouting. And
- 55:53Speaker 5: by the way, I'm gonna give you another our picture
- 55:55Speaker 5: on members.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Know this.
- 55:57Speaker 3: He was on a secondary list. He would you DFA.
- 56:00Speaker 3: They ran out of safety, so they went to another list.
- 56:02Speaker 3: He was a guy and you know, whoever liked him,
- 56:05Speaker 3: I don't even know how that area. Thank goodness for
- 56:07Speaker 3: their sake, but sometimes you get kind of lucky. And
- 56:10Speaker 3: this kid, he deserves a better. He got a one
- 56:13Speaker 3: year extension a couple of years ago as a token
- 56:15Speaker 3: of appreciation.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Not it wasn't a very good deal. He needs to
- 56:19Speaker 2: get paid. He's a very good football player, A very
- 56:21Speaker 2: good football player. I think he's a little undervalued in
- 56:25Speaker 2: the city even but they have some difficult decisions.
- 56:27Speaker 5: To make and We're not there yet, but Jayalen Philip,
- 56:29Speaker 5: three blanket Ship, Nikobe, Dean Jordan, Davis Jordan.
- 56:33Speaker 2: They don't have to, but they can.
- 56:34Speaker 5: They're gonna have to extend Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith. They're
- 56:38Speaker 5: gonna have to start considering.
- 56:41Speaker 3: I would I would be shocked if that happened based
- 56:43Speaker 3: on Jalen Phillips right now. Now, I know the last
- 56:46Speaker 3: ky wasn't good, but he is a built like Granted,
- 56:49Speaker 3: he's everything you want knock on wood, he stays healthy,
- 56:53Speaker 3: played for Finja before, super high character. He's like and
- 56:58Speaker 3: I was talking to Formagles president Joe Banner today about this,
- 57:04Speaker 3: the fact that Howie only give him a third rounder again,
- 57:06Speaker 3: he's the funny Vers deal and he's headed injury history with.
- 57:10Speaker 2: It's so hard to get edge rushers Andrew.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Yeah, all of a sudden, they went from having major
- 57:14Speaker 3: Edwin Hursh problems of depth to wow, they have too
- 57:17Speaker 3: much depth, Like how does that happen?
- 57:19Speaker 5: Well, it's a good problem to have because at one
- 57:21Speaker 5: point they had seven edge rushers on the roster and
- 57:24Speaker 5: then they were dwindled down to about three and we
- 57:26Speaker 5: were wondering how they were gonna line up so you I.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Think ideally, Dick Vangie likes to keep a limited pass
- 57:33Speaker 2: rush group. He mentioned before he once went through a
- 57:36Speaker 2: season with three with three edge rushers with the forty
- 57:40Speaker 2: nine ers. Yep, and I mean, I mean josh Usha
- 57:44Speaker 2: who's played By the way they've burned out, I could
- 57:45Speaker 2: tell you, I'm gonna give you a nugget here.
- 57:47Speaker 3: They thought internally back in twenty after that season, they
- 57:52Speaker 3: thought one of the problems that happened was in that
- 57:55Speaker 3: Super Bowl was that they were so gassed. Now, I
- 58:00Speaker 3: you'd have to ask Fanjo. I don't know what the
- 58:01Speaker 3: thinking was back then in Jim Harball, I just don't
- 58:05Speaker 3: know what their thinking was. I know Vift is brilliant obviously,
- 58:07Speaker 3: but they thought they thought that they.
- 58:10Speaker 2: Were a little bit tired. Now there's no reason you
- 58:13Speaker 2: can't use that excuse.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Now they're so deep at edge BGA. I know That's
- 58:19Speaker 3: why I was gonna You just don't know how many
- 58:20Speaker 3: they don't. Do they really need him to play at
- 58:22Speaker 3: this point? Maybe maybe not. It's great to have a
- 58:25Speaker 3: veteran presidence. He's been there, done, that's a winner, and
- 58:27Speaker 3: obviously he's insurance, but he could also could play inside
- 58:30Speaker 3: a nickel he played.
- 58:31Speaker 2: He had a couple of reps I know, so I
- 58:33Speaker 2: brought it up.
- 58:34Speaker 3: By the way, when they start doing that with Schwartze,
- 58:38Speaker 3: holy smokes. That took his career to another level. So
- 58:41Speaker 3: let's get to the Bears here. We haven't really talked
- 58:43Speaker 3: about enough.
- 58:44Speaker 2: What are your thoughts about the Bears? With one four
- 58:46Speaker 2: in a row and eight out of nine, what are
- 58:47Speaker 2: your thoughts of this football game?
- 58:48Speaker 5: Yeah, they have the potential of being an electric offense.
- 58:51Speaker 5: I'm a big fan of Caleb Williams.
- 58:53Speaker 2: I like the receiving corps with Dj Moore, who might
- 58:55Speaker 2: be one of the more underrated Wibers players in the NFL.
- 58:58Speaker 5: They have Romadonsay, have Luther Burden, the third out of Missouri.
- 59:02Speaker 5: He's an explosive player. They also have a lot many's
- 59:05Speaker 5: the keys there, but I think the given the matchup
- 59:08Speaker 5: and given where the Eagles are hurt this week and
- 59:10Speaker 5: deficient on.
- 59:11Speaker 2: The back end, this sets up to be a big
- 59:13Speaker 2: Colston Love one their tight end on in Michigan, and
- 59:15Speaker 2: they also.
- 59:16Speaker 5: Have Cole Kamet who was their starter. So they have
- 59:19Speaker 5: the two tight ends, so why that are available to
- 59:22Speaker 5: kind of work the.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Intermediary lot of talent. Brothers. Yeah, it's a heck of
- 59:26Speaker 2: a lot of talent. The kind of a game, yes,
- 59:28Speaker 2: I forgot. That's not even to account for DeAndre Swift
- 59:31Speaker 2: and Kyle Mnungai. So they have the thunder and lightning there.
- 59:34Speaker 2: I like their offense defensively, you can get you can
- 59:38Speaker 2: get them.
- 59:38Speaker 5: But it's not that simple because the Eagles offense are
- 59:40Speaker 5: sort of a disarray right now.
- 59:42Speaker 2: They don't really have a lot of consistency to hang
- 59:44Speaker 2: their hat on. But this has to be a game
- 59:47Speaker 2: where you get off to a fast start because the
- 59:49Speaker 2: Bears can put up points.
- 59:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so, Andrew, when I look at this game, the
- 59:55Speaker 3: Portsbay was seven. It's ridiculous to me, Andrew, I would
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: have the Eagles. My I put a personal line on
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: games I look at, it'll be three and a half,
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: same record.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Bears are hot a sack.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: They've shown they can win on the road. Ben Johnson
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: has done a phenomenal job his shod story. Sir Ben
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Johnson is a super tighte A. What that means is
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: it's got a temper, puts up with nothing. He coaches
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: his players hard and his coaches hard.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: So uh.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Some of the lines told me you won't. It won't
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: be long to see if it's going to work because
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: he won't put up with anything. Either he'll get quick
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: buying or no one will buy him. They've had a
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: tremendous buy in. Oh yeah, I mean he's look that
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: you got to give Ryan Paul's the GM from Boston College.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: There his respect, put together good roster. I think defensively,
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: I totally agree with you. They can get God like
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: they equals to get him. But I'm telling you right now,
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: Patulo and Siriannie have to get Hurts up to a
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: good start, get him in a rhythm, don't skip steps.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: That's what happened. That is to me to the blueprint,
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: get it out of his hands quickly and get him confident.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: And homecoming for former Eagles safety CJ. Gardner Johnson, he's
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: gonna have a lot of gus, that's right.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: And I would not be surprised if they find a
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: way to turn him loose as a blitzer and they
