- 1:28today is another great show, another great topic.
- 1:33And I think those are some interesting things
- 1:35that a lot of us don't realize is
- 1:36that these changes that we have in our
- 1:38lives, okay, they really help us become a
- 1:44better version of ourselves.
- 1:46Without any further ado, guys, let's kick this
- 1:48show off.
- 1:49Hello, everyone.
- 1:50Once again, welcome to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:52I am your host, John C.
- 1:55Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 1:59podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student, and
- 2:03a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:05And pretty soon, I will be a published
- 2:07author.
- 2:08This week, we are talking all about seeing
- 2:12clearly.
- 2:13We're exploring a powerful life skill that shapes
- 2:15relationships, leadership, and opportunity.
- 2:18The ability to speak clearly is something that
- 2:20a lot of people miss, but it's something
- 2:22that we have to understand, because if we
- 2:24don't understand it, well, then we're going to
- 2:27get caught in the loop, and we're going
- 2:29to be wondering why things don't work.
- 2:31Communication, guys, is more than words.
- 2:35It's how ideas move, how trust is built,
- 2:38and how leadership develops.
- 2:41People often believe influence comes from status or
- 2:46authority, but real influence, guys, comes from something
- 2:49much simpler, clear communication.
- 2:52When your voice is clear, people understand you.
- 2:56When your words are honest, people trust you.
- 2:59When your message is calm and confident, people
- 3:03listen to you.
- 3:04Many conflicts, misunderstandings, and lost opportunities in life
- 3:09come from poor communication.
- 3:12When we rush our words, hide behind vague
- 3:15language, or speak without clarity, we weaken our
- 3:19influence.
- 3:20But when we learn to speak with confidence
- 3:22and clarity, our communication becomes powerful.
- 3:29Today, I'm going to explore some powerful ideas
- 3:33about speaking clearly, and how strengthening your voice
- 3:37strengthens your leadership, your relationships, and, of course,
- 3:42your overall life.
- 3:43So, if you're ready, guys, let's begin.
- 3:45Speak clearly.
- 3:47Yes.
- 3:50Number one, confidence grows through honesty.
- 3:54When your words reflect truth instead of performance,
- 3:59people sense authenticity.
- 4:04That's a real important one for us to
- 4:09gather.
- 4:11Authentic voices naturally carry confidence.
- 4:15They do.
- 4:16Clear voices earn respect.
- 4:18People respect individuals who communicate directly and avoid
- 4:23unnecessary confusion.
- 4:26In case you guys are wondering, this is
- 4:29Wednesday.
- 4:29It is March 18, 2026.
- 4:33And yes, guys, this is series five, and
- 4:38it is show number 12.
- 4:40And today is show number 12, and episode
- 4:48number five, all right?
- 4:51So communicate directly, right?
- 4:54And avoid unnecessary confusion.
- 4:56I think that's the name of the game.
- 4:58Number three, honest words build credibility.
- 5:02Credibility forms when people know your words can
- 5:05be trusted.
- 5:06Number four, authentic communication builds trust.
- 5:11Trust grows when communication feels genuine rather than
- 5:14it's scripted.
- 5:16Number five, calm speech carries power.
- 5:22Strong communicators do not need to shout.
- 5:26Calm confidence often speaks louder.
- 5:30Clear expression strengthens influence.
- 5:33The clearer your message, the easier it is
- 5:36for others to understand and follow your ideas.
- 5:40Number seven, guys, honest voices inspire confidence.
- 5:46When leaders speak truthfully, people feel safe believing
- 5:50in their direction.
- 5:51Number eight, guys, calm conviction builds authority.
- 5:56Authority grows from clarity and conviction, not volume.
- 6:01Number nine, confidence grows through truth.
- 6:06Truth removes the stress of pretending and allows
- 6:10your voice to strengthen.
- 6:13Number 10, guys, authentic voices lead change.
- 6:19Real change begins when people communicate honestly about
- 6:24what matters in their lives.
- 6:27Number 11, clear communication strengthens leadership.
- 6:32Leaders who communicate clearly remove confusion and create
- 6:35direction.
- 6:37Number 12, courage supports expression.
- 6:40Sometimes the hardest part of communication is simply
- 6:43having the courage to speak honestly.
- 6:48Number 13, guys, calm confidence builds trust.
- 6:55People trust individuals who remain steady and composed
- 6:59while communicating.
- 7:02They're not trying to put a pitch on.
- 7:04They're not trying to impress somebody.
- 7:07They are just working to be authentic.
- 7:11And they're not working at it.
- 7:12They are authentic.
- 7:13So I think that's a very important thing
- 7:16to greatly understand.
- 7:19Number 14, honest speech inspires respect.
- 7:23Integrity in communication naturally earns respect.
- 7:29Yeah.
- 7:30Number 15, guys, clarity improves communication.
- 7:37Complicated language often hides weak thinking.
- 7:41You know, people that want to talk in
- 7:43jargon to lose you are not doing it
- 7:47because they're smart.
- 7:48They're doing it because they're not really clear,
- 7:51and they're hoping they're going to lose you
- 7:53and then make you go the way they
- 7:55tell you.
- 7:56Clear ideas are easier to express.
- 7:59When something is more complicated, it's not just
- 8:03harder for you to understand.
- 8:05It's also hard to execute.
- 8:08Number 16, guys, confidence strengthens your voice.
- 8:13The more you believe in your message, the
- 8:16stronger your voice becomes.
- 8:19Belief, right?
- 8:20Belief is the key for success.
- 8:23Number 17, authentic communication builds connection.
- 8:27People connect emotionally with messages that feel real
- 8:30and sincere.
- 8:32You know, you're always going to get people
- 8:33out there that are going to say, you
- 8:34know what, you did it this way, you
- 8:36did it that way.
- 8:37And you're going to be the leader.
- 8:39But they're going to try to take you
- 8:41down a peg, a two or three or
- 8:4310, because they think by putting you down
- 8:48is going to get you to stop.
- 8:53But the real problem isn't you.
- 8:55The problem is them being jealous of your
- 8:59leadership, of your success.
- 9:01Number 18, guys, calm speech builds credibility.
- 9:06Steady communication reflects control and maturity.
- 9:11You've been to seminars before, and you've probably
- 9:13even been in classrooms before.
- 9:15When a professor or a teacher talks with
- 9:20a certain quality being slow or just being
- 9:27very mindful to make sure you understand, that's
- 9:32mature communication.
- 9:34Those that come out there and try to
- 9:37talk and don't care if you get lost,
- 9:40they do what I call babbling.
- 9:44Number 19, guys, honest voices influence others.
- 9:49Honest voices, truth carries weight.
- 9:53People respond to voices they believe in.
- 9:57The catch, guys, is you can't always believe
- 10:00somebody immediately.
- 10:02No, it takes time for them to build
- 10:07credibility or trust with you.
- 10:12All right?
- 10:14That's something a lot of people have to
- 10:16understand.
- 10:21I think that's an important thing that most
- 10:23people miss.
- 10:24And the reason they miss it is because
- 10:26of the challenges going on, because of the
- 10:30fact that you can make that difference.
- 10:35But because of the outside environment or your
- 10:38internal environment and your current thoughts, you're not.
- 10:45And that doesn't mean you can't.
- 10:47It just means that because of the environment,
- 10:51internal, external, you're choosing to act a certain
- 10:53way.
- 10:54Number 20, guys, clear words strengthen leadership.
- 10:59Now, I said this once before, guys.
- 11:00Leadership is not born.
- 11:04It is made.
- 11:07You learn how to become a leader.
- 11:15You don't become a leader to impress people.
- 11:16You become a leader to make change for
- 11:21the greater good of all concerned.
- 11:24Leadership is not dictatorship.
- 11:26A lot of you might think that.
- 11:27That's not what leaders do.
- 11:29Leaders inspire others to want to follow.
- 11:34Clear words strengthen leadership.
- 11:37Great leaders simplify complex ideas so others can
- 11:42act on them, not to knock them off
- 11:46their peg, not to discourage them.
- 11:50No, that's not what leadership is about.
- 11:54It's not what leadership is about.
- 11:56Leadership is about taking your skills that you
- 12:00were born with or the ones that you've
- 12:02honed or made better and using them in
- 12:07action so other people can benefit from them.
- 12:11Maybe you're a great reader or speaker.
- 12:14Maybe you want to give time to some
- 12:17communities where you can sit and do a
- 12:18reading hour.
- 12:19There was a National Read Across America Day.
- 12:23Your skills to you are meaningful, but your
- 12:27skills to other people are priceless.
- 12:34Just don't take those skills and make it
- 12:39like you're the best in the world.
- 12:42You're good, okay?
- 12:43But don't let that go to your head.
- 12:46Even if you're very good, it's okay.
- 12:50Don't let it go to your head.
- 12:51Don't let it change your attitude of being
- 12:54this conceited person that nobody wants to work
- 12:58with or talk to.
- 13:01I think that's something that a lot of
- 13:02people wrestle with in life, and it's the
- 13:04concept that we as people believe something for
- 13:10the way we're doing it.
- 13:11But sometimes the way we're doing it is
- 13:14not the best way.
- 13:17So we always should be open to change.
- 13:20Number 21, guys, courage improves communication.
- 13:28Speaking honestly often requires stepping outside comfort zones.
- 13:33I've said this before, guys.
- 13:37Success happens when you're starting to become uncomfortable.
- 13:42I didn't say painful.
- 13:43I said uncomfortable, and I think that's something
- 13:46that a lot of people miss in their
- 13:48lives.
- 13:49They think they've got to be a pain.
- 13:51They think they've got to be working 100
- 13:54million hours a day.
- 13:56That's burnout.
- 13:58That's not working smart.
- 14:03That's sapping your energy.
- 14:07Number 22, guys, authentic speech builds impact.
- 14:18Authenticity multiplies the power of every message.
- 14:22If it is authentic.
- 14:23If it's not authentic, then it's going to
- 14:24be like, well, it's just like any other
- 14:26message.
- 14:26It doesn't have really any strong importance to
- 14:29it, and I think that's something that a
- 14:30lot of people here, I think a lot
- 14:32of people miss.
- 14:34Number three, guys, calm expression builds trust.
- 14:42People listen longer when communication feels grounded and
- 14:47thoughtful, and it's personalized.
- 14:52You got an extra bonus.
- 14:55Let's take sending emails for a moment or
- 14:58sending connections.
- 15:00Say, hey, you know, I thought your profile
- 15:04was great, and I want to connect with
- 15:05you.
- 15:06What the heck is that about?
- 15:09I notice that we have some connections in
- 15:13such and such area, and I also realize
- 15:17you're in this field, which I greatly enjoy
- 15:21doing, and I thought it would be great
- 15:22that we connected.
- 15:25No agenda, no pitch.
- 15:28A lot of people coming to LinkedIn, they
- 15:31connect, and then bam, gee, I'm an expert
- 15:35in such and such.
- 15:36I had a guy, I think it was
- 15:38just last week, and he sent me a
- 15:42connection request, and I accepted the connection request.
- 15:50Seemed pretty genuine.
- 15:52And then he became a typical salesman.
- 15:57At first, he was like, you know, very
- 15:59nice and very laid back.
- 16:00Then he's like, well, you know, I help
- 16:03people do this, this is okay.
- 16:07And so what are you looking to do
- 16:09that?
- 16:09I'm not, block.
- 16:15Sales has always been a numbers game, right?
- 16:19You get enough no's, you'll eventually get some
- 16:22yes's.
- 16:23But it's not a game where we try
- 16:27to intimidate people, because if we do that,
- 16:30even if we win the sale, I don't
- 16:32care.
- 16:33All right?
- 16:35Your reputation has just tanked.
- 16:39And if it has at that moment, trust
- 16:42me, it will very soon.
- 16:45So I wrote back to this guy on
- 16:47LinkedIn, explained to him that what you're doing
- 16:50is great reaching out.
- 16:52However, your tactic in your second follow-up
- 16:55is much too aggressive.
- 16:58He didn't listen to me.
- 17:02He just figured that somebody would probably listen
- 17:04to him.
- 17:05And I think that's the wrong philosophy, the
- 17:08way they come across.
- 17:09Or, you know, I looked at your resume,
- 17:12and I was very impressed, and that's where
- 17:13I want to connect with you.
- 17:14Why?
- 17:16What were you impressed about?
- 17:17So I'm like, I'm glad you read my
- 17:19resume.
- 17:20What areas in particular drew your interest?
- 17:27And then they fall off the table.
- 17:30They fall off the map like they've never
- 17:33even been there before.
- 17:36Honest voices, guys, strengthen influence.
- 17:39Honest voices.
- 17:41Those are not voices yelling at the top
- 17:43of their lungs.
- 17:44Those are not voices that are trying to
- 17:47be deceitful.
- 17:51No, they're voices that are here to share
- 17:54the truth.
- 17:56Integrity strengthens long-term influence, guys.
- 18:01It does.
- 18:03But many people don't stay in that mode
- 18:08long.
- 18:09Maybe they start with integrity, and then they
- 18:13get disappointed in a week or two that
- 18:15it's not happening, so they become this sly
- 18:18salesperson, deceitful, cunning, you know, the kind just
- 18:23looking for the sale.
- 18:26You've heard the phrase before, you can get
- 18:27more with honey than you can with vinegar.
- 18:34So when you're sweet to these people, don't
- 18:38do it with a false pretense.
- 18:40Actually be sweet.
- 18:41Be caring, okay?
- 18:45Don't try to be a chameleon and then
- 18:48go for their heart.
- 18:50See, that's what a lot of salespeople do.
- 18:53They reel them in.
- 18:54They talk to them.
- 18:56And then, bam, they hit them.
- 19:00They got them in that vulnerable state, right?
- 19:03And they figure this person is their greatest
- 19:05friend.
- 19:06And there are techniques to get people to
- 19:08bond with you.
- 19:09But if you do this stuff with bad
- 19:14intention, it's going to boomerang back and hurt
- 19:20you.
- 19:21It's going to hurt the other person first,
- 19:22but it's going to come back and kick
- 19:24you.
- 19:24And you know what?
- 19:25Because you really are doing a disservice to
- 19:29you and the other person.
- 19:30And it might take them some time before
- 19:32they wake up.
- 19:34But trust me, once they wake up, you
- 19:37are gone.
- 19:38You're out of here.
- 19:40Number 25, guys, clear communication supports leadership.
- 19:47Strong teams depend on transparent communication.
- 19:52That's things like accountability, right?
- 20:00That's things like ownership.
- 20:05That's things like not playing the blame game.
- 20:10Well, it wasn't me.
- 20:11Maybe it was you.
- 20:12It was this person.
- 20:13It's not about the blame game, guys.
- 20:17We're not in high school.
- 20:19Number 26, confidence strengthens expression.
- 20:23Confidence removes hesitation and strengthens delivery, almost effortlessly.
- 20:31When someone operates from an authentic core backbone,
- 20:38other people around them are like, huh, that
- 20:43person's pretty much something, right?
- 20:47I'll give you an example.
- 20:49I told you how I grew pretty big
- 20:51in a group.
- 20:52Now, I'm not sharing that to boast, but
- 20:54I'm sharing it for a reason.
- 20:57So I had a tactic to become one
- 21:00of the top leaders in a couple of
- 21:02these groups, not to sell to them, but
- 21:06to establish credibility.
- 21:09So this one group, there's a post on
- 21:11a Sunday you do, which is like I
- 21:14do it like a nostalgic memory post.
- 21:17Any day but Wednesday, well, only Wednesday is
- 21:21the only day you can post business stuff.
- 21:22So other days you could be, and I
- 21:24didn't want it too close, so I made
- 21:25it far apart.
- 21:28When you start getting people to interact and
- 21:33respond with you because of a true commonality,
- 21:38a history in a town, a funny story,
- 21:44right?
- 21:45When you do that or, hey, where was
- 21:49I in this picture?
- 21:50You get people that are going to communicate
- 21:53with you, that are going to collaborate with
- 21:55you.
- 21:55They know, number one, you're not trying to
- 21:58sell them.
- 21:58They know that you actually are probably a
- 22:01good person, but it takes time to build
- 22:04that.
- 22:05Now you could destroy it by posting all
- 22:07this other crap, and then you'll just go
- 22:08right down the hamper, right?
- 22:10So realize that by you building that credibility,
- 22:15other people are going to be like, oh,
- 22:17wait a minute.
- 22:18I remember that guy.
- 22:20So on my Wednesday, if I post a
- 22:21public service announcement about technology, oh, I remember
- 22:24that guy.
- 22:25He's the one that shared that story about
- 22:27that road, that it's an optical illusion, and
- 22:31people were basically on the road and taking
- 22:34their break off, and the car was rolling
- 22:39backward.
- 22:43It was an optical illusion, and many people
- 22:45were getting tickets.
- 22:46You get my point.
- 22:47When you put together stuff because of a
- 22:52commonality, and you're not trying to sidestep, maybe
- 22:58you want to build rapport for other things,
- 23:00that's fine, but you're not trying to do
- 23:05something to harm people.
- 23:06You're generally interested.
- 23:09And salespeople that are not genuinely interested might
- 23:12not show up clearly the first time, but
- 23:16trust me, you will recognize them, and you
- 23:19will say, there's the door.
- 23:22Number 27, guys, authentic voices earn respect.
- 23:27Earn respect.
- 23:28I didn't say they get paid to respect.
- 23:30I didn't say they're forced respect.
- 23:32They earn respect.
- 23:35I talked about media lots of times.
- 23:37I talked about paid media and owned media.
- 23:47Paid media is media you pay for the
- 23:49media to say something about you.
- 23:52Owned media is media you already have.
- 23:58Nonpaid media is media that will endorse you,
- 24:01not because you told them to, but because
- 24:04of your merit, because of your value.
- 24:07People respect individuals who communicate honestly, even when
- 24:13it's difficult, right?
- 24:17It's difficult.
- 24:20People respect that.
- 24:22Calm conviction, number 28, builds authority.
- 24:26Calm conviction builds authority.
- 24:29Authority grows when your words reflect clarity and
- 24:35purpose.
- 24:40When they reflect clarity and purpose, that's when
- 24:44it happens for you guys.
- 24:45That's when things change for you.
- 24:52That's when, number 29, guys, honest communication builds
- 25:02credibility.
- 25:03Credibility forms through consistent truth in communication.
- 25:09That's somebody who is telling the truth, not
- 25:12because they have to, but because they want
- 25:14to.
- 25:14And these kinds of people establish patterns.
- 25:23They hang in there for the long game.
- 25:26They're not there for just today or just
- 25:28tomorrow.
- 25:30They're there for the long game.
- 25:32In other words, they're not there for, let's
- 25:37say, the immediate gratification.
- 25:39They're there for the long-term gratification.
- 25:43All right, that's important.
- 25:44Number 30, guys, speak with confidence.
- 25:48Your voice carries value.
- 25:53Learn to speak clearly and use it wisely.
- 25:58For when you do, it's like learning to
- 26:03use that tool that's been in your toolbox
- 26:04for a long time, the proper way, the
- 26:10proper way.
- 26:15Speaking clearly, guys, is not just about the
- 26:19presentation skills you have.
- 26:22No, it's more than that.
- 26:25It's about your integrity, your courage, your clarity,
- 26:36and your confidence.
- 26:39So they all kind of go hand in
- 26:42hand.
- 26:44And they do take time to build.
- 26:46I'm not going to lie to you about
- 26:47that.
- 26:49But when you build the core correctly, it
- 26:52lasts.
- 26:52When you build a good foundation on a
- 26:54building, it lasts.
- 26:56When you build a good reputation, you've got
- 27:00an earmark for life.
- 27:02When you learn to speak clearly, you remove
- 27:06the doubt and the confusion that people would
- 27:09see.
- 27:10When you speak honestly, you build trust.
- 27:12When you speak confidently, you inspire action.
- 27:16Your voice, ladies and gentlemen, has the power
- 27:18to shape ideas, strengthen relationships, and create change.
- 27:23The world does not need more noise, okay?
- 27:26It needs more clear voices speaking with authentic
- 27:32purpose.
- 27:34So ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to tell
- 27:36you this, and it's really important.
- 27:39Please choose your words carefully.
- 27:43And even though I said to you the
- 27:45most important thing is what you don't say,
- 27:47the second most important thing is how you
- 27:48say it.
- 27:50The words are the least important thing, but
- 27:52what you don't say and how you say
- 27:54them matter.
- 27:55So the delivery matters.
- 27:58And allow your voice to reflect the clarity
- 28:01of your vision.
