- 0:26four three. Andrew Spring is here. Life is good and things are just
- 0:32humming along, aren't they. Good to talk to you, by the way,
- 0:35Yeah, things are. Things are really picking up around here. So
- 0:39it's really nice to see. The grass is green, plants are starting to
- 0:43sprout. We're getting some nice rain, and now it's beautiful and sunny,
- 0:46and we're busy, and you know, I was thinking about, you know,
- 0:52contrary to most people's beliefs that listen to this radio show, we don't
- 0:56like get together and like plan this thing out. I mean, no,
- 0:59no, magic just comes together on the spur of a moment. Yes,
- 1:03right, yes, yeah, So I was thinking this morning, you know,
- 1:07what to talk about, and you know we always talking about gutters and
- 1:11houses and roofing and how we can you know, help fix your home.
- 1:17I mean that that's you know, that's what we do. And something we
- 1:21had a staff meeting about yesterday was was a Bob Miltello give back. And
- 1:26I've talked about I believe Bob's done the show before. Sure, he sure
- 1:30did. Yeah, he was fans. We loved having Bob in. Yeah
- 1:33when he came by him, Yeah, so so Bob. For people that
- 1:37are new or listening to this, But Bob was like one of my first
- 1:42employees. So back in the day two thousand and nine, we had three
- 1:49employees and Bob was one of them. And he was one of my first
- 1:53sales reps and became one of my best friends and moved into the sales manager
- 2:00and led a team through really caring. He just he truly cared about our
- 2:08guys. He cared about everybody in the company, He cared about our customers.
- 2:14He was just one of the most caring, nicest people. And to
- 2:15be honest with you, at first when he when he when he came to
- 2:19me and said that he wanted to be sales manager, I was like,
- 2:21Ah, I don't know, I think you're too nice, Bob, you
- 2:24know, and not that it's not that a manager can't be nice, but
- 2:29like you know, you gotta be a little starts work. Yeah exactly,
- 2:31yeah, you know so. But anyway, Bob became a sales manager and
- 2:36like the staple of the company, someone that for oh boy, the better
- 2:42part of twelve years I talked to every day only honestly, almost seven days
- 2:46a week talked Abob. But twenty twenty one we lost Bob complications from cancer.
- 2:53I think there was complications from COVID, COVID whatever, doesn't matter,
- 2:58but Bob passed away and really have the big kind of hole in our company.
- 3:01I mean, we still have a big portrait of him hanging in our
- 3:05conference room. But so we we. Anyway, a couple of years ago,
- 3:08we decided to do something cool and do the Bob Miltel Will give Back
- 3:13project, because that's what he would have wanted to do. I cannot tell
- 3:17you, Sean, how many times this man came to me and said,
- 3:21I was at this homeowner's home. They need our gutters so bad, but
- 3:24they can't afford it. Is there any way I can take forgo my commission
- 3:30and you can take the payments for it out of my paycheck. I'm like,
- 3:37man, Bob, like, we can't really do that, Like I
- 3:42can't, but we can work something out. And because of him, like
- 3:46we did give some people some free gutters and work it out. But he
- 3:50was willing to pay for it himself. So this is the type of person
- 3:52he was. So we started the Bob Milttel Will give Back Project and in
- 3:57twenty twenty two we did our actually twenty twenty three, right at the end
- 4:00of the year, we did our first. We did our first roof for
- 4:03a wonderful lady and Lodi, who had a really old house needed some repairs,
- 4:11but the biggest problem was her roof. And you know her she was.
- 4:17She was nominated by her sister. Her sister let us know that she
- 4:23was just one of the nicest people, and she had had some issues with
- 4:29her her kids. One of her son had had a traumatic brain injury from
- 4:32an accident. And she's you know, she basically in her eighties and taking
- 4:35care of her her grown children and doing the best she can. And I
- 4:39remember the first time I went in her house and it broke my heart.
- 4:42She literally had a dozen or more buckets and cans at different places in her
- 4:46house because her roof was leaking that bad and she could not afford to fix
- 4:50her roof and winter was coming, and it's all she thought about. And
- 4:56we took that stress off of her shoulders when we went to her house and
- 4:59said, look, we're going to fix your roof, tearing everything off,
- 5:03starting from scratch, brand new. You're never gonna have to worry about this
- 5:06again. And I've never seen such relief come from somebody, because at the
- 5:13end of the day, this roof was going to cause her to lose her
- 5:17house. It was going to wreck her house. I mean, look,
- 5:21growing up people, I don't think anybody really goes, hey, I think
- 5:25I want to be a roofer. It's just not something you think about.
- 5:30But if you do think about it, you step back and you think,
- 5:33but what, There's not a lot when it comes to building that's more important.
- 5:38No matter a house, an apartment, a condo, a business,
- 5:43pullshit, whatever it may be, a barn, it has to have a
- 5:46good roof on it. And if it doesn't have a good roof on it,
- 5:49it will rot from the inside out. And that's what was happening to
- 5:54this lady's house. Was it was starting to wreck everything, and it would
- 6:00have her home would have been condemned. But we came in and we fixed
- 6:04our roof, and I may have really really had a full heart that day.
- 6:09I even threw in gutter shutter and I mean, yeah, I mean
- 6:13at the end of the day, it was probably about a forty thousand dollars
- 6:16project because it needed redecking, everything was rotten. It was just it was
- 6:23it was a lot. But at the end of the day, we were
- 6:30able to help this lady stay in her home instead of getting condemned and her
- 6:34having to move out, and it was just it's one of the best feelings.
- 6:36So I wanted to talk about it on here because in the next couple
- 6:40of weeks we're going to be putting some stuff out through social media, and
- 6:44we're not just we're not just going to isolate it to the Madison area,
- 6:48because as people know, we've really expanded and we've got an office in Milwaukee.
- 6:54Now, we're in Rochester, Minnesota. Now we're in the Green Bay
- 6:58Appleton area, and we're going to kind of expanded almost to the whole state.
- 7:01And you know, unfortunately we can really only do one roof, but
- 7:06we want to make sure that we pick the most deserving person because listen,
- 7:12everybody wants to buy a home. It's our biggest asset, it's our safe
- 7:15space, it's what we need to survive. But if you need a new
- 7:18roof, that is a very expensive project that a lot of people can't afford.
- 7:24So if we can help at least one deserving person a year, do
- 7:29it in Bob's name, that's what we're going to do, and we're going
- 7:32to continue to do it. So I just want people to watch for the
- 7:35next couple of weeks. You're going to start seeing some stuff come out.
- 7:38And if you know deserving people, you know, veterans, it doesn't matter,
- 7:44single home owners with kids, I don't care whoever. They are great
- 7:47people, deserving people that need a little help. That's who we want to
- 7:51find and that's who we want to help. Sean, you mentioned the Facebook
- 7:55and social media. Of course, Larsen Home Services you can find them there
- 7:58Larsen Home Services l A R s O N Home Services dot com. And
- 8:03it was interesting as you were talking about Bob, I went back on your
- 8:05Facebook page to look through some of the photos, and I know you've got
- 8:09a few of Bob up there, and there is one that you posted quite
- 8:13a few years ago, and I'm guessing this picture was taken quite a few
- 8:16years before this. It's you and Bob and you look like look like you
- 8:20might be twenty So talk about how long? No? I mean, yeah,
- 8:26you know, like I did. Look. You know what's funny is
- 8:30I was talking about this at home the other day and I found a picture
- 8:31of me and Bob. Yeah, and I showed it to my newly turned
- 8:37fourteen year old daughter. And that picture that I showed her was probably taken
- 8:41when she was she was a baby. Yeah, and I was a lot
- 8:48heavier. I looked really really young. And she goes, you know,
- 8:52Dad, you look a lot nicer than you do now. And I go,
- 8:54what is that supposed to me? She's like, well, you're just
- 8:58not always that nice like I am nice. I just have to I just
- 9:03have to, you know, lay down the law sometimes because you don't listen.
- 9:07I said that nice looking young guy would have made you listen to It's
- 9:13a lot nicer. But I was young. I was probably twenty eight,
- 9:16you know something like that in there. Twenty seven. So yeah, it
- 9:22brings back good memories we miss Bob. I hope Bob is listening to this.
- 9:26I know he was around that day that we did that roof and Lodi
- 9:31and you know his we let his wife know, we showed her the video.
- 9:37It's just a really awesome way to kind of keep his legacy going because
- 9:43he was really special here and I know people that I mean, he was
- 9:48on hospice Sean and I went to his house for I was at his house
- 9:52for a whole day hanging out with him while he's on hospice. And he
- 9:56had two customers from Madison come to his house. I mean he lived on
- 10:01by Lake Geneva. It was an hour away, but he had customers that
- 10:05he had sold gutters and or roofs to come to his house to see him
- 10:09while he was on hospice. Like, man, if that could if we
- 10:15could only all be that good. I mean, he sold these people probably,
- 10:16but he kept in such good touch with these people. They became friends.
- 10:22They came to see him while he was dying, like I can't even
- 10:24imagine. So that's just the type of person he was. So this is
- 10:30this is a little thing that we can do. And you know, like
- 10:33I said before, when when talking about doing a roof. The relief that
- 10:39was on that lady's face, I'll just never forget it. She was so
- 10:41relieved, because when you're talking about a roof, I mean, depending on
- 10:46the size of the home, you're talking ten, twenty, thirty, forty
- 10:48fifty, So I mean, boy, we've done hundred thousand dollars roofs.
- 10:52It's not chump change. It's not an easy fix. You know, other
- 10:56real important stuff in your homes and air conditioning, you know, sometimes you
- 11:01can you can limp that stuff along, you can get fixes, but a
- 11:05roof is tough. It's tough to limp a roof along. You can sometimes
- 11:09we can restore, sometimes we can do little fixes, but at the end
- 11:13of the day, with the roof is bad, it's bad, and it's
- 11:16thousands of dollars. So it's anyway. I just want people to think about
- 11:20it and think about people they know that might need might need some help.
- 11:24It's a great way to remember Bob. And of course we mentioned Facebook and
- 11:28social media. Follow along. Make sure you like, like, and follow
- 11:31Larsen Home Services on Facebook, the website Larsenhomeservices dot com. That's l A
- 11:37R. S O N. Home Services dot com. Another really cool thing
- 11:39too, about about the Facebook page for larsenom Services. You get to know
- 11:43the team and you start to realize real quick as Andrew was talking about Bob
- 11:48and and and their time working together at Larstome Services and how long Bob was
- 11:54there, and I start to realize there's a lot of folks at Larstome Services
- 11:58that have been there a very very long time and we talk about we talk
- 12:01about things like roofs, gutters, those type of things. You want people
- 12:03that are that are very well trained and know they're appreciated, that spend a

- 12:09about Larsen Home Services. Know that when you're getting that new roof, put
