On the 1st of May, 1984, 45 year old Anthony Littler stepped off the train at East Finchley Underground station after a night out with friends who shared his love of real ale. It should have been an ordinary walk home. Instead, minutes later, he lay dying on a dark footpath just meters from the station... attacked by two men lurking in the vegetation, armed with a rounders bat. What followed was a chillingly precise crime and an emergency call that made no sense.
A young, "well spoken" caller rang for an ambulance and told the operator a man was hurt outside the station... then hung up…
