- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, guys?
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, here come it up on the show today.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: Josh, do bow of the associated press.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: Excellent reporter, great NFL insight, always on all kinds of things, and really gets the schedule.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, really understands the schedule.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to that coming up, but first, you know, I've been thinking a lot about that for those of you who subscribed to one of the most successful subjects on Earth, Ethan Strauss's House of Strauss.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: You may have read one of my favorite articles from a few weeks ago.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: And what he wrote was that basically he said, like, please, team social accounts, stop trying to have a personality.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: and just treat me as a fan and give me this stuff I want about my team and that they've all become bogged down in memes and trends and being cutesy and forced personality and that the assignment
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: Um, which I understand, like if you're in charge of social media, you're boss wants to know when I saw romantic Jones do a thing about this through the day.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like your boss wants to know how many impressions that you get.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: But he's right.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: Strauss is right and reading that article, I was like, oh my God, it's not just me.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: Giving me license, not be ashamed of all my old man takes that I've actually held for like 15 years before I was an old man, before I was a father, maybe because of my father now, I've got more of these takes, but I was prematurely, I've carried prematurely old man takes for a long time.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like for example,
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: NBA floors.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Why are NBA, this is a television product.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: You've got 13, 15, maybe 18, thousand people in your arena.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Millions watching on television.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: We've prioritized TV a little bit more.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: Here when it comes to the floor, like a gray floor, a neon floor.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: I can't even all these different floors.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: I can't see the players.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: Why got good eyes?
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks to context.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: How about the floor?
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: And if I wanted to listen to music, while watching a basketball game, I would turn music onto my home.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: Over the players like the music.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it doesn't seem to get on playing any harder in the regular season.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: So how about we stop with the music and get the floor to be the color of wood?
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: Why is that applied today?
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's good to release day.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Of course,
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: and what is the point of schedule release day but to get your fans ready for this season or no, it's to go viral for being funny.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Get a sweet real on your resume.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: How have the chargers guys not just been hired by Hollywood yet?
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're doing good work.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: Why are they still there?
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: Haven't been stuck 51 weeks out of the year doing like football content.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: I really sincerely don't want to put it like somebody puts in the hard work and it's funny and it's creative and it's good and that like I genuinely cackled at the
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Charger substation, Bentley.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: I watched it three times.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: I call my wife like, you got to watch this.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's good.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: I get the craft But I watched a bunch of these back to back and like people like oh the Falcos one.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is the best one I'm like It was just like a bunch of little shorts.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't the opening was funny, but I wasn't gonna watch six minutes the bills when I had to skip through it.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't it's fine.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: They're all fun.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: They're fine The nighters one was different.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't watch them all
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: But the Niners one, like maybe you feel like football, not that they need my defense, but I read some of the comments of people who are like, well, you know, they want like the Chargers video.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: And they're all calling it, not they're all.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: A couple, see, the problem with AI is that people are so turned inside out by AI graphics right now that they think the AI generated stuff is real and get tricked.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: And it's only gonna get worse.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: People think the real stuff is AI.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's just AI.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, let's say I slap, let's say I slap.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, or maybe somebody made it.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: Do you, are you a graphic?
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: Are you an expert on this topic?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: So like, I watched a video and I thought, like, I felt nostalgic, I felt football.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: I felt the things that football makes me feel.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of the offseason makes me forget.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we're three and a half months away from the season and there are, to me, there are just things you forget in the offseason, about how it all feels.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that's, the night is one, maybe, feel it.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'm, maybe I'm susceptible in nostalgia.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: But it also brought it up to speed.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: I just, maybe because they had played by old play, by play calls in there, that got me biased for sure on that.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: But I think of the offices and just kind of forget,
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: how addicting the regular season is, the crowd specifically.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: There's a place for all of it.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate it watching the video remembering what football season feels like.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, well, man, he has a cloud.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get on to Josh Dupath.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, is that time of year where we talk about the NFL schedule and I don't think anybody that's a better than Josh do bow to decades covering the NFL and a decade covering the 49ers and knows everything that's just always whenever there's like, how does all provoting work you go to Josh when it's like, what was the last time that honors had a lefty.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: Put the football, you go to Josh.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, but when it comes to the intricacies of the schedule, I go to Josh, who has a great insights.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Don't let me sell him shorty that you have great insights that are not nuanced trivia questions.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think anybody understands the schedule and how the NFL does this thing better than you.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: The schedule is out, the full schedule is out.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: the nine hour schedule is out.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: What are your all put it up on the screen for people watching, but what are your overall kind of first impressions?
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: The first two things in John Lynch said that, thank you said back at the combine.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: I give him a task about the two international games that the NFL was gonna give him something on the back.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, throwing the wrong on the schedule and it seems like the bone that got thrown is not traveling much in the first half of the season.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they go.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Come back from Australia, you have three straight home games.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: They have one trip to Seattle in the five weeks after the Australia trip.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the, seems to be the bone they got for home is that they don't have to travel after Australia much for the first half of the year.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then the schedule from week 10 to 17 is brutal.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: That is it.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: In terms of,
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: travel and opponents, you know, even the easy games.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's, you know, giants at giants and easiest game, but that's in December in New York on a field that the Niners hate.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like the easiest thing, you know, Minnesota.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: I get three non-play off teams in that stretch, but at the house, it's not an easy game.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: Minnesota is in Mexico and I'm, you know, it's like the Vikings will be, but at least I think they're at least a
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: decent team for sure.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and that's with Mexico.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you have Seahawks and Rams in there.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: You have to travel to the cheese.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: You have.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's a, yeah, Thursday night game against the Chargers.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's a pretty brutal stretch.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, getting getting through those eight games.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and it's I've following a big game against the Raiders after the body, which will, you know, being emotional dramatic game.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: And by the end, I think that we kind of
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: Post, post Australia, so stand up to me.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: an emotional game for the players or for the fans for me for you come for the audience for a long time.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: The writer guy and every guy.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, uh, hopefully, hopefully, like, pop it.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: So because he, I did not think, uh, I did not think got his dude during the preseason game last year, when we were in Vegas and they have a bunch of raider highlights to play before the game in none of them are him.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, you know, I, I thought that was weak.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: But, um,
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, that apparently that fence has been mended, and hopefully hopefully Oh, they got a pre-season game this year, so maybe we'll have to see.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's not on this schedule that we're talking about today, but
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, you know, the other thing, even there's some the the rest of rentals even, right, there's no rest advantage if you count the Rams game to open the season in Melbourne as a Friday, which I think you convinced me, of course you should count it as a Friday, you said you're going to get home on Friday and the travels brutal.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: So you factor that in you there's no advantage there.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: not only do the Rams come off Thursday night football at home, albeit against the Chiefs, but the writers are coming back from New York.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the writers have been home.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: And the writers, and the toughest one actually is they put the Seattle game at home, Thanksgiving weekend.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: The writers are coming back from Mexico and Seattle's coming off the bat.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then I'll get home.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's a Sunday night game.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then again, get home weight.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's, you know, usually a boarded practice week a little bit with Thanksgiving.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: guys get a little time like that week.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, late in the season coming off a night game so that's another one that's probably a little tough but then they get that when they go to Kansas City they're coming off the Thursday game to choose to coming off a Monday night game.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: So they get that game we just need is a nice edge for them I guess if you
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right, there've been, there've been some years a couple years ago where the differential, and the year before, I think, right, 20 years.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they two years.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Where the differential was, the story, the differential's not the story this year.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: I think, as you said, four, what, five of the last seven games on the road, right?
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: I guess, sorry.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: My color coding here is gone wrong.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Four of the last six on the road.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: Do I have that right?
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: Or the last, so, well, okay, you got Minnesota as a work game, I am.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so should let's count as a good floor.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: So it's five to the last eight on the raid.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: Five to the last eight, Seattle or four to the last six.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or six to the last nine against Dallas, six to the last nine, that that that starts the end of the year six six were six games away from Levi's.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: And right, travel to Mexico.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: playing you know three or four play out team you know teams come up to play out really the only easy game is Arizona and maybe the Giants that's tough.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's a tough finish this season.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like you know this past year they had a pretty forgiving you know what was it after they had well they go they went Caroline a Cleveland by Dave Indy they had
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, until the week 17, you know, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: didn't get Kansas City early, whether and I'm a home.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: Although, maybe my home is back.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's the area.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: What's that on the homes is playing?
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: The chiefs are playing prime time week one and we too.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like it's not a question.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: I assumed back in, you know, January, February when the season ended that the chiefs were playing the cardinals and some of the got early on the season.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: It dolphins,
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: of their weaker games are on the season, they wouldn't want to waste their good games and then they opened against Debra and then their prime time again week two.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: And the story from home is going to be taking part in OTAs.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: So it seems like everyone thinks mom's going to be fine with one.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the weather, yeah, you do have to deal with the weather potentially can't say they have two weather rights at Giants in December and at Kansas City.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: That would be the two.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and they get, you know, the road Seattle game is in early October.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a break.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, the thing I said about
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: going to the giants that come over to play the Rams, who've been at home, the Niners go to Seattle, Seattle's coming back from Washington, and then I was replying at home the week before.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, a benefit there to the Niners, even though it's a road game for them.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: They've been in the time zone without the long travel.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then, and it's the weather.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: I was surprised that they have the Rams and C. Oxwaying Week 16, we gave team.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's a quick trip.
- 13:00[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I felt the matters might get the sea off at the end of the year once I saw the Rams or plan the sea rocks week 16 on Christmas, but they loaded up those sea rocks for MCM's late in the season.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, that was it.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, interesting.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: That is interesting.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, that's about as close the others you can play out.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: They don't play back back weeks, same bonus.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's about as close together as you can play.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, that, you know, if if the division races close with those teams, so obviously, you know, there's going to be great games, but it also could be throwing those games away a little bit if one of those games has got a question.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like intentional that both teams are going on the road in the NFC South, the week between they when they play each other, right?
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, yeah, yeah, so that feels like it's got to be intentional right and they get next for today It's it's a Friday game the first one's a Friday game.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the second one I just could be a Saturday Saturday Saturday game for the second one It's like a league would love for that to be a Sunday game right Is there a Sunday night football we keep those?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's one and then there's the three they're three Saturday game They added a third Saturday game this year.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I was like nine or six last year was the Saturday game for They were happy with that too.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: the night before happy with it.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: But that's true.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: They wouldn't necessarily don't have to put on some of that football.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Because they had, uh, that was Raven's Raven's killer.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: Part of it was, I think NBC had just had the Niners the week before.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: It was just the Bears and they didn't want to go Sunday night back to back.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: And it was potentially Rodgers's last game.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: It was first about so.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: So it could be either right there.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I guess in the Niners one, that Arizona game seems more likely to be a Sunday.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know where he, what is that January 3rd?
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: The season's like, yeah.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: Everything's pushed way this year.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I personally, Niners by week Halloween fine.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: I like that.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: But I get four out of five years.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: They've had a weekator week nine by, which is.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: That buys God to be later when you're going to play this many rogue games late in the year that's that that's that I don't think about they complain about the late by that.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: They've always liked the weekend week nine Rames by like that's what they've liked but this year doesn't we tend to feel about right Before the Mexico City game.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: I thought I thought they'd get it before Mexico.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I thought it would be week 10 My guess is there were questions with the three home games After Australia not a by week before Mexico
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I'm guessing they have, you know, hopefully I'll get an answer out of Mike North and the scheduling people tomorrow and they give their explanation, but um, I'm guessing there were questionnaires made with the three home games because it's, because typically they don't like playing, uh, home games early in the year, especially after new ones because of the heat there.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: Um, the fact they're playing three and I think what, uh, Miami and, uh, Miami and, uh,
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: Eric, the first right, Denver's at night, right?
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: Denver's son in a, no, is Denver son in a, no, no, or Denver, no, those are all right, those are all right.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they, yeah, so it's a three day game.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's a, it's a, they typically, you know, like number 125 and one of them is a 105.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, back, right, that's typically something they don't like.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: My guess is they were cross six.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think they did not want to travel after going to Australia.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: My guess is that's that, yeah, that was their ass.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's good inside.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: It is my be the typically don't like that.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: And the fact that they have it this year is unusual.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, and they avoided Christmas.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: Right, no game Christmas.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thanksgiving.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: You knew they were going to avoid pretty much playing in Mexico the week before or it's going to be tough to do a
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we knew where they're playing something at Mexico.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: So they obviously weren't going to play Wednesday or Thursday.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think they could have played the Friday, but that was unlikely.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: So, so thanks for giving me news off.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: Week 17, Thursday in the game is New Year's Eve.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't get that one either.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: So they've wanted it all the holidays.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the Christmas, right?
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: I thought they might get, I thought they might get Christmas.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, they weren't at that one.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: I thought they'd put the chiefs, I thought that might be a Christmas game, but then the chiefs got the Thanksgiving game inside.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, yeah, they're like that.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: I assume they prefer a Christmas at home.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: Christmas is Friday.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: They can spend it at home with a family, although leave.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: They can leave Saturday for the or the chiefs game.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: And, um,
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: Though they typically leave a little bit of a single either way, they can go either way, like I'll have to ask.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's not a, they only have two 10 AM games.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's not one of them.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, in fact, it's a 125 Pacific game.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they could be, they could be waiting the day on Friday too.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: So you still get most requests.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, at home, but yeah, they could do that.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: The only two 10 AM games, and I think the,
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: The numbers say those don't matter that much, that the West Coast teams do pretty well on the 10 A.M. games, which is rather not better than in the way they're games, right?
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: People talk about all the time, you know?
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: To be honest, I think I'm the back end.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: They like it's something like, they're not used to like, yeah.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: Now you travel with the team sometimes, like, getting back from a 10 A.M game that you get back or what, like, 70 really talking night, it's a normal night, as opposed to if you're playing the late game,
- 18:41[SPEAKER_00]: Much like, you know, for a lot, I think I'm the back end.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's so much easier than, and the front end, it seems honored, it seems to have adjusted so well to travel.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's why a lot of the things that people focus on, the rest of the disparity, the 10-AM games, all these things that were once actually a big deal.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: So it's basically become much less a big deal in recent years, and a part of it's teams are smarter about how they, and at least, you know, about travel, about sleep, about things like that, that I think,
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: Um, teams sort of figured out how to handle what better than in the past one.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, some of the roles and it felt changed a few roles and practicing during biweek has been a big part of playing off the biweek.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you can't practice during the biweek is less than that advantage.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, there are a few other things, but I think the most I think seems to have been better at, you look at all sports.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: The road records now are much better than they were.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's, I know it's really NBA, I think it's true, I think it's basically true and all sports that teams are, the home field advantage is much less than it used to be.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: Take it some more expensive.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a more expensive, I think, I replaced how it was like, it's just, you know, officiating and generating favoring home team, you know, I think that's.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that's a bit fixed by replaying things like that and that I think teams just travel much much more luxuriously and and they're smarter about travel and sleep and things like that.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, so it's not and I assume I'm guessing they'll go to Colorado Springs right before Mexico.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean just don't come home from Dallas.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you did you could come home Sunday night and fly to Colorado Springs Tuesday and practice Wednesday
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was going to give up to go straight, um, necessarily.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember what they did.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: What do they do?
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: What they did, uh, were they home, were they home before the next go game and was it 22?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: They say they were.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: They were home the week before against the chargers, so.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so they just stayed home like they went out.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: And that was the Monday game, actually in in 22.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: But they have a good practice.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's their Friday Saturday in Colorado Springs in the flu.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm guessing, yeah, I'm guessing we'll do that again.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_00]: No, they wanted to, yeah, they made the request to avoid playing Denver in Mexico because the altitude, so that when the background did, they only have two games, they even take out rest to spare, they had a bunch of games on a short week's last year, especially late in the year.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, they only have two games.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: All season on short rest because they only one Monday night game and then if the third set and then Yeah, definitely stands out like the lack of Primetime games, you know, yeah, I was got six then I was our third in the division in Primetime Games because the Rams have five and Seattle has six, which is the same number as Dallas in Kansas City.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: So They got five, right.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I just have one and I against Washington
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: the Rams.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah if you count the Rams.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: Right if you count the Rams and then they have Minnesota Chargers Eagles.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay if you count the Rams.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: Oh no.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: What time is that game going to be?
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: And 30 in the morning, Australia.
- 22:18[UNKNOWN]: Thanks.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when you look, you know, all the talk before the schedule came out was even the 38th out 30 night that whatever the number of miles and it's funny though when you look at the schedule the travel seems very favorable.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, obviously the Australia thing for everything out of whack, but like, you know, that's.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: You only have, you only have back-to-back games away from home twice all year.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Dallas, Minnesota, and then Charger's Kansas City, but the Charger's Kansas, you know, one of them's LA on a Thursday, and you have three extra days rest in between notes.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, so the travel is obviously the miles I'd up because you lose a home game to Mexico and you go to Australia, which is half across the world obviously.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: But when you look at the schedule,
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: off, it's only two games in the Easter time zone.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Is that right?
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: That way I'm in the Giants.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and then is it, I mean, Kansas City's close, right?
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: But Kansas City and Dallas are central.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: But that's it, right?
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: And Mexico City's central.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: And Mexico City's right.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: So three in the central, two in the East, and everything else is one, I'll throw out everything else in specific time zone.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if you're going to have the travel, the Australian travel, you want to do it a year when you're playing the FC West is obviously the right because you're good, you know, you get one of your road, you know, obviously you can't city this year, so you do a one road trip out of that, but.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: But the charger, you know, but getting the chargers is one of your.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: One of your road games is a big help, but yeah, and it's definitely weird going through it and it's like.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_00]: The travel does not seem as daunting.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: Once you get through, you know, and you got to tell you why they want the three home get, you know, their hope is go to Australia deal with that.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's a headache.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's a pain in the ass.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's bad.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: You come home.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_00]: You have three straight home games, including Miami Arizona and pop two, your probably you're two, two or three easiest games, right?
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: Miami Arizona home.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I paper.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: I would thank you.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: I probably the three weakest games you have would be Miami Arizona and the
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: The Raiders are there.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: though, throughout the records.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: Go out the records.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, no, I do think if you're, you know, we started by talking about the back of the schedule, I think what you're starting to get to is, can you start hot?
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know, can you hit that by at five and two?
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: Can you beat the Rams to start and, you know, the old John Groen thing, break the season into quadrants?
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: Well, if you go one out of the Rams and see you all
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: that's, you know, Denver at Atlanta home Washington.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're 61, but even if you was one of the five of the two, right, it's like, you'll be favorite in all those other games except May, I mean, you're at home, could be Denver, but I would take right now their favorite, you know, the favorite, yeah.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think San Francisco is probably favorite in all the Denver.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would think, though you, someone who usually put those out like the early lines of every game, I would guess that they would, you know, right, that they would be fit, you know, they're under our
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: 2.0.0, where's the rams and we don't do our get see at all.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: The others, it probably would be terrible if I'd pick them basically.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, you've a chance, well, then the rate is after the buy.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: So you have a chance at that point to be, you have 6 and 2.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_00]: Now you're looking to be 6 and 2 at that point probably.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: In a realistic world, if you're 6 and 2, and then it's like, okay, you basically have to go.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: What, four and five down the steps to make the playoffs, probably six and three down the stretch to compete for the division.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: I like Philly Week 17.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: They've run their offensive run out of town by that.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think Philly, yeah, I'd rather play Philly late in the season.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's especially home, whether it's not going there, I could see saying OK, you don't want to go there with the weather.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think there's a chance that that implodes.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_00]: back feeling late in the season is fine, um, yeah, maybe, maybe everything hits, maybe Sean Manion is a, uh, a hero jail until he urts his throw on over the middle and, but uh, uh, McCoy, McCoy Lemon is, I think he's going to be good.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: Right, but like, yeah, yeah, I, I would give this schedule from, you and I were texting about this other day, and I, and I said, or yesterday, I guess, and I said this last year, I thought last year's schedule was great on one hand, and on the other hand, from like, if you frame it as from a
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: this is different.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: We already knew that because of the, um, um, you know, uh, uh, because we're already near the opponents.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, having Miami, Arizona, weeks two and three is great just because forget about the matchup, um, competitive nest, all that kind of thing.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's also just like, you know, energy is high earlier in the air.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: So any, you could play anybody at home, week two, a week three, your home opener.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, you get to get a good home environment, it's going to be weird to only play the Rams, I guess you play, yeah, you play Seattle, the Rams and the Eagles at home at the end of the year.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: In the last month of the season, like that is an awesome home site.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's just not many of them.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, I think from like an entertainment standpoint, it's an a plus schedule.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: From like a can you do something with it standpoint, it feels like a sea except
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: I might bump it up to a B-minus just because I feel like those first, you know, nine weeks.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, first ten weeks, even, uh, first eleven weeks, you can really make some hair.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: You should be favored on most of those games.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: And so to your point earlier, if you get either at the Rams or at Seattle, they've got a chance to be in really good shape going into that stretch at the end of the year.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, they're a good team at the end of the year.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I do think Kyle Shannon team's kind of wear well, but you got to be healthy.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: And you have a thing with getting, you know, it makes an interesting question, just schedule wise on the, you know, I, my guess is my problem is starting on public, but the, the kiddo decision, you know, what you do with, with kiddo, whether he's ready week one or not ready week one, you know, even if you don't put him on pop, I could, I could see
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: him not going to Australia and I'm not being on pop, then yeah, we're going to be back.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not some of the Australia, maybe he's back week two or we three.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe back or even by Denver week four, yeah, if he can play it by week four, it's not worth he's good enough that you're better off not putting him on pop than having this for a one-game of kittles is worth a roster spot.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, especially early in the season when you should be you should be more healthy theoretically.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_00]: Um,
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, the microwave, you know, both that I think will likely be back, but it's like, you know, you definitely have can work your way, and I'd say that after that Rams game, you know, those next two games are definitely favorable.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: Um, that's a, you know, gets you off to a good start ideally.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_00]: Um, right, and then you can,
- 29:42[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully not have to overuse Christian McAfrey early in the, you know, maybe have a couple easy wins where it's like okay now it's like we can actually give it back up running back some time and maybe gain some confidence there and like some kind of some, you know, part of the role with that, um, they can carry over.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, and I do think if I were them, I think I'd rather have the easy the tougher half of the end of the year and the easier half of the in the front of the year.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_00]: If you had a brutal schedule coming back from Australia, you could really, if you lost in Australia, it could be like, oh my god, we could be one in three and chasing the rest of the year.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas now it's like, okay, worst case scenario, worst case scenario, you should be going to that Seattle game two and two.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a, that point you're fine.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_00]: You're totally, you're not, you're not chasing after anything.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you beat the C-ops during good to date.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_00]: Me, you know, it's all fine.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: If you've lost and you want is, right, if you lose and all Australian came back and had two tough games.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'm guessing that was their request.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: Was home games, not necessarily give us easy teams, but definitely the home games when they came back.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm trying to, in the Rams, whether the Rams don't, so the Rams come back, they get the Giants at home.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: But then after that, they go on Monday night and Monday.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: So the next year day, but after that, they go at Denver at Philly home Buffalo the next three weeks.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that's a much, a much more challenging.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, they're into the year after their buy week 11 speaking of the Rams.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my God.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's brutal.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thanksgiving Kansas City on Thursday at the Niners Dallas at Seattle on Friday, Christmas at Tampa, and it's the
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: Got easy, you know, there are what at San Francisco home Dallas home Giants at early on a Saturday Rams on a Christmas friend.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think have to go to Carolina and then go to the Rams weekend Like no one in the division has an easy finish of the year.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: No, so yeah, so I think yeah I think it's making the first half get to six and two idea, you know, and then
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: The schedule is tough enough, like we're all three teams.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_00]: Then it might not be a year worth 13 or 14 is winning this division.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: It might be a 12, 11 or 12.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_00]: And if you get to six and two, it's like, OK, now you're, you've got to start at it.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I will say this.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: Historically, they've not played the Rams and Seattle well at home.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: So getting at my home late in the year and isn't necessarily an out of that much.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: I get a losing record against both.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: They definitely have a better record against the Rams down there when they do at home and in that part.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: And they've won and Seattle, a bunch recently, and have lost the home game.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: So we gave Team Laster.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: So they won, you know, that last year they won a fair and lost at home.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think the last two years, they won a fair and lost at home.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the real loser and all of this is all of us with no money night double header.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: No radar game in prime time this year.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_00]: First half is 2010.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: No Raiders in prime time.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: The M. Shane, which is actually like I kind of want to watch this right or team, but if from a noses plan, but.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, no, but it is I was surprised they didn't get a prime like I Thursday night.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think part of the problem was is that Denver can't the city in the charger.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: all play the ram San Francisco and Seattle so that so it's like it's a Denver's got ram's as a prime time game Seattle's a prime time game Kansas City's got Seattle as a prime time game right yeah and the ram's as a prime time game so they each get two prime time game and then interiors have the Niners and they've won out of those but they all loaded up the prime time games against the NFC West
- 34:05[SPEAKER_00]: that there wasn't the throw in the bone and put a Thursday night Raiders Chargers game on Amazon and yeah and then but then and the rest of the schedule is not a whole lot like you know if I buff alone in England but you know I can't waste a buff alone in the prime time game on the Raiders.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_00]: The only one you would do really is the division or the Niners
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: figuring out, okay, at least there's like some bigger interest in that.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in the old NFL, you would have had the Browns game on Thursday, I would have bought with Brennan.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, the old NFL, that old Thursday package, right?
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: You would have had, yeah, you could have gotten something.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you might have gotten one of the twice right you might have gotten the chargers that you might have gotten one of the division Titans right yeah All the Titans on Thursday color that would have been a color rush.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, right in the old while or the 2018 Niners Niners Raider serves in a game the 34 to three Beating of group of group and FEMA at Levi's Mullins that was Nick Mullins debut Nick Mullins game.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so right you could have had that but yeah
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: But now they've elevated that Thursday backage.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, and they don't have the money double headers.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the money double headers, the readers would have been a likely one of them throw them on the late game, the SPM late game is the double header and right, the they're like the the 930 Eastern start time.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_00]: And on the stagger games and it's like, okay, I think they have that against Atlanta last year.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, right, throw one of those on and find, but yeah, the.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: The prime suspects were prime time games.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: The raiders didn't really exist.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: And so, there's always the flex schedule, although we rarely see it, we rarely see it flexed.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Josh, always appreciate it.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to talk to Mike North tomorrow.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I know while we're looking for whatever you write about it.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll let you know about it.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: We go.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: Bye.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: your camera went away a long time ago, but the audio's good.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you didn't know you're off camera this whole time?
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: No, I can see myself there.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I haven't seen you in 20 minutes, but you sound great.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know what it is.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe other people have seen you, but I've just got the doobal behind the behind the curtain here.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: So sorry about that.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think that.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, very good.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're good podcast.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Josh.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, talk to you later.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: Bye.
- 36:35[UNKNOWN]: Bye.
