- 0:38Speaker 3: ride as well. Our number one very NFL Draft Heavy
- 0:41Speaker 3: is Round one last night, Round two and three here
- 0:46Speaker 3: later this afternoon. Right now, though, I want to shift
- 0:49Speaker 3: focus from the NFL over to college football. Is Oho
- 0:52Speaker 3: s you just about set to wrap up their spring practice.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Will be joined by Jason Lejeern of Grit Iron Football Jays.
- 0:58Speaker 3: How you doing this morning, Teal?
- 1:00Speaker 4: What was going on?
- 1:01Speaker 3: Man? Not a whole lot? You know, you and I
- 1:02Speaker 3: we were talking back and forth the other day and
- 1:04Speaker 3: you told me about all these camps you guys were
- 1:06Speaker 3: having over a grid iron football time. Tell me about
- 1:09Speaker 3: the camps, man. You've got a number of these things
- 1:10Speaker 3: going on.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Oh yeah, we usually play on about two camps per month,
- 1:14Speaker 4: and anybody's really not familiar what we do. We host
- 1:18Speaker 4: a bowl game at the end of the years for
- 1:21Speaker 4: seniors after their senior seasons or or overwhip. They get
- 1:24Speaker 4: to go to LSU Louisiana Christian University and perform in
- 1:28Speaker 4: front of college coaches. And we've had a pretty good
- 1:30Speaker 4: success and saying it's been a while guys to play
- 1:33Speaker 4: at the next level. And we recruit a lot of
- 1:35Speaker 4: the guys for the bowl game from the camps, these
- 1:37Speaker 4: all season camps, and that's going pretty good. We've had
- 1:41Speaker 4: a kid at one of our camps earlier this off season.
- 1:44Speaker 4: He actually ran a four to nine at their camp.
- 1:48Speaker 3: That's pretty that's pretty fast.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Yeah, that's pretty fast. I mean, if you compare them
- 1:52Speaker 4: with everybody else in the NFL combine now probably put
- 1:55Speaker 4: them the four fastest, which is pretty crazy for high
- 1:58Speaker 4: school kid. But he I entered that camp with one
- 2:01Speaker 4: offer and one d one offer and now he's up
- 2:05Speaker 4: to sixteen after the video was posted at Settember one
- 2:09Speaker 4: in the forties. He's from Grant High School. AMoD zikes,
- 2:12Speaker 4: I think he's ranting now as a three star with bruits,
- 2:14Speaker 4: so he's definitely a guy who's on the ride. He
- 2:16Speaker 4: was at Elvis Sho's junior and day as well, so
- 2:19Speaker 4: he's actually on Elvis Shoes radar as well. So trying
- 2:21Speaker 4: to help a lot of kids the exposure and get
- 2:23Speaker 4: their name out there, and that was definitely a big
- 2:25Speaker 4: success story for us this offseason.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Absolutely. I mean that that's what you guys do over
- 2:31Speaker 3: there at Gridlind Football, which is why I always love
- 2:33Speaker 3: having you on Jason, moving from the high school ranks
- 2:36Speaker 3: over to the guys that are already on college campuses.
- 2:39Speaker 3: LSU spring football last a media availability was actually yesterday,
- 2:43Speaker 3: so that is the last we will get to see
- 2:45Speaker 3: of the Tigers here in the spring off twenty twenty six.
- 2:49Speaker 3: So you know, let me ask you this. I understand
- 2:50Speaker 3: you've been busy with camps and stuff, but the time
- 2:52Speaker 3: you were able to get out there, you know, it
- 2:54Speaker 3: seemed like earlier in the spring practice it was really
- 2:58Speaker 3: tilted toward the defense, the offensive struggle the times. I mean,
- 3:01Speaker 3: you know that first scrimmage you and I got to
- 3:03Speaker 3: go to out at Tiger Stadium where the media was
- 3:06Speaker 3: fully involved, like the offensive looked, I mean they looked
- 3:08Speaker 3: flat out that. Well, they've gotten better since then, Landon
- 3:12Speaker 3: Clark looks more comfortable. Who's on long streets taking a
- 3:14Speaker 3: big step forward as well. So like in your opinion, like, yes,
- 3:18Speaker 3: those guys are essentially battling for QB two, if you will.
- 3:22Speaker 3: How big of a deal is it that LSU doesn't
- 3:25Speaker 3: have Sam Levitt out there in the spring?
- 3:27Speaker 4: Well, I mean I asked Wayne Kiffin about that was
- 3:30Speaker 4: the first time really had really be available with him,
- 3:34Speaker 4: and he was talking about that. Really, I was asking
- 3:38Speaker 4: about chemistry, you know, with the team, and how important
- 3:41Speaker 4: is that to really install this early, and he said, really,
- 3:44Speaker 4: I mean spring is really more about fundamentals, if anything,
- 3:48Speaker 4: just trying to really start over because he's starting with
- 3:50Speaker 4: the whole brand new team basically, so you really really
- 3:53Speaker 4: putting in the fundamentals. So when you go to ball camp,
- 3:57Speaker 4: I mean that's really more about you know, the summertime,
- 4:00Speaker 4: that's really more about chemistry. And you talked about Trendad
- 4:04Speaker 4: Chambliss that he really didn't come over until the summer.
- 4:07Speaker 4: So I don't think it's such a big deal that
- 4:11Speaker 4: Sam Levitt has not been getting the snaps in spring
- 4:14Speaker 4: hasn't getten the reps. I think it's like Laane Kiffin said,
- 4:18Speaker 4: I think it benefits we both parties. I mean, Sam
- 4:22Speaker 4: gets a chance that he'll continue to heal and recover
- 4:24Speaker 4: from surgery, and he also ha the other two quarterbacks
- 4:27Speaker 4: see what they can do and get them a lot
- 4:29Speaker 4: of reps in Kiffin's scheme.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm actually with you, Jason from the start. My
- 4:35Speaker 3: opinion has always kind of been I don't think it's
- 4:37Speaker 3: a huge deal of Levitt's not out there. He's He's
- 4:39Speaker 3: a guy that's played a lot of college football, right,
- 4:42Speaker 3: he could take the mental reps. He can still throw
- 4:43Speaker 3: to receivers off to the side. I mean, he's just
- 4:45Speaker 3: not going to do any full contact drills, which I mean,
- 4:48Speaker 3: let's be honest, Clark and long Street aren't going full
- 4:50Speaker 3: contact either, So I don't think it's that big of
- 4:53Speaker 3: a deal. But as far as outside of the quarterback position,
- 4:56Speaker 3: like we've seen long Street and Land and Clark both
- 4:59Speaker 3: make some good plays, both make some mistakes, but like
- 5:02Speaker 3: top standouts for you, maybe guys you're hearing a lot
- 5:05Speaker 3: of buzz about guys you've seen in person, who are
- 5:07Speaker 3: some top standouts for you? For the Tigers here in
- 5:08Speaker 3: the spring.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Really, I look at the secondary, I mean I think
- 5:12Speaker 4: they really won won the spring for me. I mean
- 5:14Speaker 4: Tamarcus Cooley, you know, he was really good. He was
- 5:17Speaker 4: pretty solid last year, but really he's had himself an
- 5:20Speaker 4: outstanding spring and uh, every time we're out there, he's
- 5:24Speaker 4: making plays. He made every time you're out there, he's
- 5:26Speaker 4: making picks. And he made a pick in that scrimmage too.
- 5:30Speaker 4: But Todd Bennifield, TJ Woindewan's making plays. You know what
- 5:34Speaker 4: Dj Pickett can do. Man, this secondary has a chance
- 5:37Speaker 4: to be really special this year. And you know, try
- 5:39Speaker 4: and get back to l U Dbu and in the
- 5:41Speaker 4: Shawn Spears kind of playing that star role. Man, the
- 5:44Speaker 4: secondary is looking really solid. Dylan Jones at the running
- 5:48Speaker 4: back position. I mean he's a guy that really, you know,
- 5:50Speaker 4: just stood out, you know, just seeing him for the
- 5:52Speaker 4: first time. And he's taking a lot more reps with
- 5:55Speaker 4: the Ones and uh when he walk int as far
- 5:58Speaker 4: as a receiver, I thought he's had a really good
- 6:00Speaker 4: spring as well. So a lot of new faces, definitely
- 6:02Speaker 4: a lot to really get used to with a whole
- 6:04Speaker 4: new team, you know, a whole new regime when they're
- 6:07Speaker 4: laying kipping, but weal a lot of guys.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Really like, yeah, I'm glad you mentioned the secondary. Jay.
- 6:14Speaker 3: It's like, you know, I've only got to go out
- 6:16Speaker 3: there two or three times, just because normally we are
- 6:18Speaker 3: on air on this show when unless she's out there practicing.
- 6:21Speaker 3: But you know, from what I've been able to see
- 6:23Speaker 3: when I've been out there, Secondary kind of looks like
- 6:25Speaker 3: the best group on this team right now. And that's
- 6:27Speaker 3: why I was so excited when a guy like TDD
- 6:29Speaker 3: Benfield came in. My thought was, Okay, it may not
- 6:31Speaker 3: be the biggest need for you in safety, but it
- 6:33Speaker 3: allows the show and spears to go down in the star.
- 6:35Speaker 3: It just gives you so much versatility. An another veteran
- 6:38Speaker 3: body back there, love what I've seen from the secondary,
- 6:41Speaker 3: So okay, maybe outside of them that kind of leads
- 6:44Speaker 3: into the next thing, like a position group you're excited
- 6:48Speaker 3: to watch in twenty twenty six. Like we know, we
- 6:49Speaker 3: know secondary kind of seems like the most polished group
- 6:52Speaker 3: right now, but is there a group that intrigued you
- 6:54Speaker 3: going into the season.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I really like, really like the linebackers as well.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Maybe talking just kind of staying on that side of
- 7:01Speaker 4: the football too. I mean you heard coach Kiffin talk
- 7:05Speaker 4: about it. But the defense is gonna be a defensive
- 7:08Speaker 4: team and we starting off and you see it, right,
- 7:11Speaker 4: I mean you see the secondary of the linebackers. You
- 7:13Speaker 4: know when what Weeks is is fully read to go.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I know he's back with the team the last last
- 7:18Speaker 4: week at spring, but when he's fully out there at
- 7:21Speaker 4: one hundred percent, you know what kind of linebacker he is.
- 7:23Speaker 4: They get TJ.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Dotterery.
- 7:24Speaker 4: I thought he was all over the field making plays
- 7:26Speaker 4: two that's that scrimmage us all and you know, pair
- 7:29Speaker 4: him with von Keys. I like that group. And you
- 7:32Speaker 4: know the Titans too. I think the Titian's been pretty
- 7:35Speaker 4: sneaky as well because we know about trade as Green,
- 7:39Speaker 4: but Malcott Tomas making some plays too, so uh, I
- 7:42Speaker 4: mean as far as a good one to two points.
- 7:44Speaker 4: So that's definitely a position group. Obviously everybody knows about
- 7:47Speaker 4: trade as Green, but as as a whole with the
- 7:49Speaker 4: that position group, something that we not sleep on.
- 7:52Speaker 3: All Right, We've been pretty positive so far through this interview,
- 7:56Speaker 3: were we're gonna go a little bit more towards the
- 7:57Speaker 3: negative side. So if spring basically wrapped up up. Now,
- 8:01Speaker 3: what is your biggest concern for this team heading into
- 8:04Speaker 3: the vault.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Well, with just seeing them in the spring, I mean,
- 8:09Speaker 4: I feel like the offensive line, I mean, there's only
- 8:11Speaker 4: one way to go up. But just from what I
- 8:14Speaker 4: saw just from the scrimmage, I mean I still think
- 8:16Speaker 4: that's a work in progress, and but you feel like
- 8:20Speaker 4: you have some pieces though. I mean obviously with Jordan,
- 8:25Speaker 4: I left tack but yeah, Jordan step but yeah, I
- 8:29Speaker 4: mean there's just a lot of things you can really
- 8:31Speaker 4: try to see boat border onside a good spring, but
- 8:34Speaker 4: you just don't really know. I know, the defensive line
- 8:36Speaker 4: really gave offensive line a lot of fits from the
- 8:38Speaker 4: scrimmage I was at, and just really the overall depth, Taylor,
- 8:41Speaker 4: to be honest with you, on the defensive side, I
- 8:44Speaker 4: really love the starters the defensive A front two. I
- 8:47Speaker 4: think you just I like the starters there. I just
- 8:50Speaker 4: think depth is kind of the biggest thing really all
- 8:53Speaker 4: three levels. So it's really important I think for this
- 8:56Speaker 4: defense really to stay healthy. So I think it's just
- 8:58Speaker 4: trying to really continue to developed. The depth defensively is
- 9:02Speaker 4: my thing.
- 9:03Speaker 3: You know, this is always an underrated portion off Spring
- 9:08Speaker 3: practice because it's not the flashiest spot. But to me,
- 9:11Speaker 3: one of Brian Kelly's biggest achilles heels when he was
- 9:13Speaker 3: here was the special teams union and the punning game
- 9:17Speaker 3: in general. Like you know, when we've been out there
- 9:19Speaker 3: a couple of scrimmages, we've got to see the punt
- 9:21Speaker 3: union a little bit. I don't both guys kind of
- 9:23Speaker 3: struggled with consistency. Actually thought Hayden Craig was probably the
- 9:27Speaker 3: better of the two out there. Obviously the transfer coming in.
- 9:31Speaker 3: We've seen Scott stars that hit some long ones. We've
- 9:33Speaker 3: seen him miss some long ones. What's gonna be your
- 9:35Speaker 3: thought on special teams? Like I kind of thought that
- 9:37Speaker 3: was a big weakness under Brian Kelly.
- 9:39Speaker 4: I agree and just and really through the scrimmage, U
- 9:44Speaker 4: saw like that was a little bit of an issue.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I mean we talked about the inconsistency they are punting
- 9:49Speaker 4: but kicking. I mean we talked about the kicker transfer
- 9:52Speaker 4: from ropinsof Scott, I mean he missed. I think he
- 9:55Speaker 4: attempted like five kick and missed like three. So and
- 9:58Speaker 4: that's like no rush going at the special teams. So
- 10:02Speaker 4: I think special teams is definitely a concern leaving the
- 10:06Speaker 4: spring as well. I mean as far as that too,
- 10:09Speaker 4: we don't really get to see a whole lot of
- 10:11Speaker 4: that during practice because you're so focused. You only have
- 10:15Speaker 4: maybe twenty minutes the first couple of weeks to really
- 10:17Speaker 4: look at everything. But just seeing the scrimmage and seeing
- 10:21Speaker 4: how how that was orchestrated, I can see that those
- 10:25Speaker 4: special teams is a concern as we ahead the fall.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, Jason, as we approach the summer months,
- 10:32Speaker 3: you know it's gonna be list season, as we say,
- 10:34Speaker 3: you know, projection season. As we as we head into
- 10:36Speaker 3: SEC media days, a lot of talk about like let's
- 10:39Speaker 3: use win total as a playoffs are bust, Like in
- 10:42Speaker 3: your opinion, what record like what would be considered a
- 10:45Speaker 3: failure for Kiffing here in your one, I.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Would say in year one, obviously, anything less than eight wins.
- 10:55Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, that's that would be that that's
- 10:58Speaker 4: the bottom, right, that's the bottom right. I mean right
- 11:01Speaker 4: now you're kind of looking at them through spring, and
- 11:04Speaker 4: you know, you don't really incorporate Sam eleven because you
- 11:07Speaker 4: have ever we've seen Sam with with the team, Uh,
- 11:09Speaker 4: you probably think that this is you know, with so
- 11:12Speaker 4: many new offensive pieces and that's really gonna real. We're
- 11:15Speaker 4: going to tell the tail of this season, Taylor. I mean,
- 11:17Speaker 4: I think the defense is going to be as good
- 11:18Speaker 4: as can be across the across the country. This defense
- 11:22Speaker 4: is going to keep this team in games. The question
- 11:24Speaker 4: is with all these new pieces on offense, how does
- 11:28Speaker 4: this offense gel? I mean that that is gonna be
- 11:30Speaker 4: that's going to really determine the season for l Shoot,
- 11:33Speaker 4: how these all these new pieces gel will determine the season? So,
- 11:37Speaker 4: I mean, I think going in and you're looking at
- 11:39Speaker 4: a nine and I think nine and three team. I mean,
- 11:42Speaker 4: this is this is a also a very tough schedule
- 11:45Speaker 4: too off the bat first year, so you're looking at
- 11:49Speaker 4: the at the nine maybe ten wins range is what
- 11:52Speaker 4: I'm looking at.
- 11:54Speaker 3: R Jay, Before we get you out of here. What
- 11:56Speaker 3: you guys got going on? A great iron?
- 11:58Speaker 4: Yeah, we have a camp coming up to tomorrow. Actually,
- 12:01Speaker 4: so is that gonna be on my birthday? So of
- 12:03Speaker 4: course you were put on the camp.
- 12:04Speaker 3: But wait a minute, we've known each other for years.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Your birthday's tomorrow? Yeah, Wait, a happy early birthday. How
- 12:11Speaker 3: old are we?
- 12:13Speaker 4: Twenty nine? They got one more year left in the
- 12:15Speaker 4: twenties man.
- 12:15Speaker 3: You're also a year younger than me. Didn't know that.
- 12:18Speaker 3: I'll be thirty in September and not happy about it.
- 12:22Speaker 4: But we do have a camp coming up tomorrow at
- 12:25Speaker 4: Albany High School.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Uh.
- 12:26Speaker 4: It's basically for any players sixth grade through eleventh grade.
- 12:31Speaker 4: All the players will get film as far as their
- 12:34Speaker 4: reps forty shuttle broad jump, all the combine the campus
- 12:38Speaker 4: up light college camp. So it's a good way to
- 12:41Speaker 4: learn for young players to get time go through the process.
- 12:44Speaker 4: And also if you're a twenty twenty seven prospect, we're
- 12:47Speaker 4: looking for players for the GRIDIRN Bowl Game. This is
- 12:50Speaker 4: the best way to get evaluated for that camp. You
- 12:52Speaker 4: can register online at Gridiron Football Usa dot com or
- 12:55Speaker 4: you can just show up to the camp at Albany
- 12:58Speaker 4: High School. Registrations from eight non forty five. It's one

- 13:05Speaker 4: a pay online or you can walk up at the
- 13:06Speaker 4: camp at eight to nine forty five. The camp in
- 13:08Speaker 4: the one Marcus Randall Formrelshie quarterback I know, will be
- 13:12Speaker 4: one of the coaches that will be at the camp.
- 13:13Speaker 4: So your upcoming quarterback Miles well learned from one of
- 13:17Speaker 4: the best in Marcus.
- 13:18Speaker 5: But there it is.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Tomorrow eight to one is a camp so o looking
- 13:24Speaker 4: for to seeing a lot of people there, all right.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Jas lejard of grit On Football, Jays, happy early birthday

- 16:08Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in hour number two here on
- 16:10Speaker 3: a Friday edition of Off the Bench. Taylor showup here
- 16:13Speaker 3: with you, Jacobaster, Matt fled Landre all out. Today they
- 16:17Speaker 3: left me by my lonesome. You know, that's what I
- 16:19Speaker 3: got to take, three days off, a little bit of
- 16:21Speaker 3: me time, little little baby moon with me and the
- 16:23Speaker 3: wife's last vacation before the baby comes. And what did
- 16:26Speaker 3: they do? They have a remote yesterday, so I'm sitting
- 16:30Speaker 3: in studio and then today, well we got Jordan and Braxton.
- 16:34Speaker 3: We're hanging out. We're having a good time. But uh well,
- 16:36Speaker 3: guys leave me my first day back. It's a little
- 16:39Speaker 3: did they didn't spend the whole week with me, which
- 16:41Speaker 3: I get, I totally understand.
- 16:44Speaker 2: No, no, it's Friday, man, come on, man, Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 3: We book, We're good, Vibes are high. We're gonna fil
- 16:49Speaker 3: draft where we're good to go. Speaking of NFL Draft, look,
- 16:53Speaker 3: we've talked a lot of draft right Like, we broke
- 16:56Speaker 3: down in detail the Jordan Tyson pig at eight. Overall,
- 16:59Speaker 3: we talked about what the Saints we're gonna do with
- 17:01Speaker 3: two and three, as far as the second and third round,
- 17:04Speaker 3: corner edge guard. I think all of that is in
- 17:07Speaker 3: play for New Orleans here in day two. What I
- 17:10Speaker 3: want to do right now is go back and look
- 17:12Speaker 3: at the first round as a whole. Maybe some winners
- 17:15Speaker 3: and losers. Every year, somebody comes out looking like a
- 17:18Speaker 3: genius for a trade they made. Somebody comes out kind
- 17:21Speaker 3: of looking like a donkey. That's kind of where we're at.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Every year you see winners and losers of round one.
- 17:27Speaker 3: I got a lot, so I'm gonna let these two
- 17:29Speaker 3: guys go first. Jordan, give me a winner, all.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Right, winner?
- 17:33Speaker 9: Obviously, what I said earlier man Cowboys getting Caleb Downs.
- 17:35Speaker 9: Getting Caleb Downs to fall two at eleven, basically you
- 17:38Speaker 9: didn't have to make no moves. You got one of
- 17:39Speaker 9: the best players in the draft, a guy who I think,
- 17:42Speaker 9: in my eyes, is gonna be a perennial pro. Forget
- 17:45Speaker 9: Pro Bowl, All Pro. Thing's on change Dallas defense.
- 17:48Speaker 1: They need that.
- 17:49Speaker 9: Dallas definitely needs some defense, how especially in the secondary.
- 17:52Speaker 9: I'll say, Caleb Downs is my first winner of the night.
- 17:54Speaker 9: So Cowboys, I'm in total and that edge rush of
- 17:57Speaker 9: y'all got.
- 17:57Speaker 3: To whether it was winner or loser. I'm glad you
- 18:00Speaker 3: brought them up. I didn't include them. I didn't want
- 18:02Speaker 3: people to being one, oh you picked. I didn't want
- 18:05Speaker 3: to include. There's been a lot of people asking me, like, hey,
- 18:08Speaker 3: what do you think about the Cowboys trading up one
- 18:11Speaker 3: spot for a player that was probably going to be
- 18:13Speaker 3: there at twelve. First off, I don't think he was
- 18:15Speaker 3: going to be there at twelve. Miami loved Caleb Downs.
- 18:18Speaker 3: There were a lot of people that had had Caleb
- 18:20Speaker 3: Down to mock that. The Dolphins also, I followed the Cowboys,
- 18:23Speaker 3: you know, decently close a little bit. You know, they
- 18:26Speaker 3: loved a man sword Lane, and I think that was
- 18:27Speaker 3: going to be the pick if he was going to
- 18:29Speaker 3: be there at twelve. So if you're in the Cowboys position,
- 18:31Speaker 3: like look, I criticized Jerry Jones probably more than anyone
- 18:35Speaker 3: in this.
- 18:35Speaker 2: State, as you should, though he deserves it.
- 18:37Speaker 3: I don't necessarily hate moving up one spot because all
- 18:40Speaker 3: you did you gave up two fifth round picks both
- 18:42Speaker 3: this year you had two fifth rounders. You gave him
- 18:44Speaker 3: up to move up one spot.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Who cares.
- 18:46Speaker 3: But in the eyes of the Cowboys, let's say you
- 18:49Speaker 3: loved Mansword de Laane and Caleb Downs, you already missed
- 18:52Speaker 3: out on one because the Chiefs jumped up. They were aggressive,
- 18:54Speaker 3: they grabbed Aga and sword Lane. You missed out on that. Yeah,
- 18:58Speaker 3: you're sitting there thinking, Okay, there's a chain. The Dolphins
- 19:00Speaker 3: don't take Caleb Bownce. There's a chance that they do.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I can give up two fifth round picks, move up
- 19:05Speaker 3: one spot, take a player that I know is a
- 19:08Speaker 3: Day one starter. I don't actually hate it, Like normally
- 19:10Speaker 3: when I see a team move up one spot, I'm like,
- 19:12Speaker 3: come on, what do you do? Like for the Dolphins,
- 19:14Speaker 3: I don't know why they traded the pick. I wouldn't
- 19:16Speaker 3: have traded the pick. I would have stayed right where
- 19:18Speaker 3: I was and taken Caleb downs. They didn't, though, they
- 19:20Speaker 3: moved back. They don't even go safety at twelve overall.
- 19:23Speaker 3: But I don't like you know in the move. I'm
- 19:26Speaker 3: like Jerry, you're jumping up one spot. But again, he
- 19:29Speaker 3: gave up two fifth round picks. You got a guy
- 19:31Speaker 3: that you know is instantly going to make at least
- 19:33Speaker 3: some part of your defense better.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yes, I'm okay with.
- 19:36Speaker 9: Yes, I'm okay with I didn't follow that back with
- 19:39Speaker 9: Malachi Lawrence. Yeah, pretty good.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Malaca Lawrence got some juice to him. I mean Malaca Lawrence,
- 19:43Speaker 3: big physical guy off the edge. He can play the run,
- 19:45Speaker 3: he can play the pass. Yeah. I like that as
- 19:47Speaker 3: a win. I like Broxton first round winner.
- 19:50Speaker 10: Yeah, so I got the Chiefs. I like how they
- 19:53Speaker 10: traded up and got monster Land. They got there hopefully
- 19:57Speaker 10: no one corner, and then they see they got twenty
- 20:01Speaker 10: ninth bake.
- 20:01Speaker 6: They got Peter Woods.
- 20:02Speaker 10: I like that too, just because I know you have artists,
- 20:07Speaker 10: pretty stead defensive line. But Peter is a guy who
- 20:11Speaker 10: can really I guess put you in, like help you
- 20:14Speaker 10: with the run defense. He's a big body exactly, and
- 20:21Speaker 10: with them losing McDuffie and who else was it Watson?
- 20:24Speaker 10: I really think Monster can really help fulfill that spot
- 20:27Speaker 10: in the secondary.
- 20:29Speaker 3: So love that as well. And you had to jump
- 20:32Speaker 3: to six because there was a chance Washington takes them.
- 20:34Speaker 3: At seven, there's a chance to Saint Stigma and eight.
- 20:36Speaker 3: You're sitting there at nine. You had to jump to six.
- 20:39Speaker 3: You don't give up a ton draft capital to jump
- 20:42Speaker 3: up to six. You desperately needed a corner. You just
- 20:45Speaker 3: traded Trent McDuffie to the Rams, and you lost Jayalen
- 20:50Speaker 3: Watson his counterparty. You lost both of your starting corners
- 20:53Speaker 3: actually ironically both of them with the Los Angeles Rams.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Now you had to have a corner that was a
- 21:00Speaker 3: glary need for this team. You got the best corner
- 21:03Speaker 3: in the draft. Love that pick. My winner actually happened
- 21:07Speaker 3: before the draft even started. Okay, I think the Giants
- 21:11Speaker 3: trading Dexter Lawrence and getting two top ten picks. They
- 21:14Speaker 3: got the number ten pick from the Bengals. I think
- 21:18Speaker 3: that's a win. And yes they take Rvil reason. Some
- 21:22Speaker 3: people were looking at that as kind of a head scratcher, saying, hey,
- 21:25Speaker 3: you got Brian Burns. You got Cavon Thibadeau and you
- 21:28Speaker 3: have Abdul Carter. Why are you gonna take rvil Reese.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I understand that, like maybe the player fit wise need wise,
- 21:35Speaker 3: but you've got a versatile defensive player in the top
- 21:38Speaker 3: five and you were able to get that second pick.
- 21:40Speaker 3: With the tenth pick, they take Francis Mauinoa, who a
- 21:43Speaker 3: lot of people thought could be the best all around
- 21:46Speaker 3: offensive lineman in this draft because of his ability to
- 21:48Speaker 3: play guard and tackle. They need help on the O line.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Jackson Darer got hit a lot last year. They gotta
- 21:54Speaker 3: have some running room for Kim Skataboom. You gotta protect
- 21:57Speaker 3: the future of that franchise. I actually like that pick
- 22:00Speaker 3: rid of Dexter Lawrence. He wanted out of there. You
- 22:02Speaker 3: got a top ten pick four him.
- 22:05Speaker 2: I do love that.
- 22:06Speaker 3: On the flip side of that, and then also Brax
- 22:08Speaker 3: and I have the Chiefs written down and as my
- 22:10Speaker 3: as my second winner, I wrote down two winners. I
- 22:12Speaker 3: do have them written down for it. I'll go ahead
- 22:15Speaker 3: and kick us off with the losers because it kind
- 22:17Speaker 3: of ties in directly to the Giants. I know they
- 22:23Speaker 3: needed help on defense. I'm not trading the tenth overall
- 22:27Speaker 3: pick for Dexter Lawrence. If I'm the Cincinnati Bengals, I
- 22:29Speaker 3: did not like that. I love the move for the Giants,
- 22:33Speaker 3: which means I hate the move for the Bengals. Like
- 22:36Speaker 3: you needed edge more than interior anyways, Like Dexter Lawrence
- 22:39Speaker 3: is not an ed drusher, you still have trouble there.
- 22:41Speaker 3: You also need a ton like you need secondary help,
- 22:44Speaker 3: you need ed drusher help, you need offensive line help.
- 22:46Speaker 3: You had a top ten pick, boom, Now you have
- 22:48Speaker 3: no first round pick, and sure you pick up Dexter Lawrence.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Like good players still twenty eight years old, but like,
- 22:54Speaker 3: let's be honest, you go look statistically, he's coming off
- 22:56Speaker 3: the worst season of his NFL career. He had half
- 22:59Speaker 3: a sack, lowest than his NFL career, thirty one tackles combined,
- 23:05Speaker 3: lowest than his NFL career. He did have four tackles
- 23:08Speaker 3: for a loss. That's that's what he did. And he
- 23:10Speaker 3: played an all seventeen games, so it's not like he
- 23:11Speaker 3: was hurt in his production dip because he wasn't on
- 23:13Speaker 3: the field. Thirty one total tackles, half a sack, four
- 23:16Speaker 3: tackles for a lass. She traded a top ten pick
- 23:18Speaker 3: for that gap. I'm not saying Dexter Lawrence has lost
- 23:20Speaker 3: the step. He's only twenty eight years old. He makes
- 23:23Speaker 3: Cincinnati's defense better. There is no question about he does.
- 23:26Speaker 3: And maybe you're looking at ten.
- 23:27Speaker 2: And put him over the top, right, And maybe you're looking.
- 23:30Speaker 3: At ten you're like, okay, we also need a guy
- 23:33Speaker 3: like a man sword de Lane. We couldn't find anybody
- 23:35Speaker 3: that wanted to trade up with us. Let's go ahead
- 23:37Speaker 3: and trade for a guy that makes your defense better.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I can understand that it's just trading for an interior
- 23:42Speaker 3: defensive lineman. But don't think you had bigger needs elsewhere
- 23:45Speaker 3: for a guy coming off the worst season of his career.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I just tends a little rich for me. Give it up,
- 23:51Speaker 3: Give it up. If you're Cincinnati and you're sitting at
- 23:53Speaker 3: nineteen twenty, good with it, no problem. You have a
- 23:57Speaker 3: chance to get an elite player in the end the
- 23:59Speaker 3: top ten on a rookie contract, right on a rookie contract.
- 24:02Speaker 3: You didn't do it, Dexter Lawrence. Also, big contract attached.
- 24:05Speaker 2: That's what That's what I was confused about.
- 24:06Speaker 3: That I don't I don't love that pick or that
- 24:09Speaker 3: decision to trade that tenth pick for Dexter Lawrence. Either
- 24:12Speaker 3: you guys got any losers.
- 24:14Speaker 9: I would say my loser would have to be the
- 24:16Speaker 9: Steelers man, just the optics behind them calling Makai Lemon,
- 24:20Speaker 9: just for the Eagles to come and jump ahead of them.
- 24:22Speaker 9: I mean, yeah, I guess they could use tackle help.
- 24:24Speaker 9: But the Steelers, you don't have a quarterback. You have
- 24:27Speaker 9: Metcalf and.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Didn't get Pittman. So they got Pittman now too. Yeah
- 24:30Speaker 2: they got Pittman, all right.
- 24:31Speaker 9: But it's just like just the optic, the good you
- 24:33Speaker 9: got two good receivers with nobody like. I don't I
- 24:36Speaker 9: don't know what exactly is going on in Pittsburgh. It's
- 24:39Speaker 9: just it's confusing me because I have a friend as
- 24:42Speaker 9: a Steelers fan, and he was confused of him taking
- 24:43Speaker 9: a tackle. So I don't know what's going on in
- 24:46Speaker 9: Pittsburgh right now, especially because it's Aaron Rodgers playing football.
- 24:49Speaker 9: We're going on the round two or three, and you
- 24:51Speaker 9: don't have like yeah, so it's like are they taking
- 24:54Speaker 9: a quarterback today or like what's going on? We literally
- 24:57Speaker 9: have no idea, I guess, but we might be sitting
- 24:59Speaker 9: here Monday being like, yeah, Gary Nuttmeyers of Pittsburgh Steeler, I.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Mean you might actually be like, I mean that that
- 25:06Speaker 3: that's a legitimate possibility. I'll smier Carson back literally these
- 25:10Speaker 3: guys like, dude, we're.
- 25:11Speaker 9: Going to season with becon is too old? Even about
- 25:15Speaker 9: the old thing because I'm quarterbacks quarterbacks old.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Guess they played the quarterback position.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Okay, I'm tired of this.
- 25:22Speaker 3: I have gone on this spield. People probably tired of
- 25:24Speaker 3: hearing him. I have gone on this field about Tyler Shark.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Tyler Shark was drafted at twenty six years old. Correct, Yes,
- 25:29Speaker 3: if he is your starting quarterback for the next ten years,
- 25:33Speaker 3: you nailed the pick and he's thirty six years old.
- 25:34Speaker 3: And I don't care if a quarterback is old coming
- 25:37Speaker 3: down of the draft. They play well into their thirties.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Now, doesn't matter how Stafford right now thirty eight.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Yes, Stafford just won the MVP last year. You have
- 25:44Speaker 3: your starting quarterback potentially for the next six years and
- 25:47Speaker 3: the next ten years, and he's thirty six years old
- 25:49Speaker 3: at that point. At that point, it doesn't matter.
- 25:51Speaker 2: You had your franchise ten years at a NFL career.
- 25:53Speaker 2: That's exactly blessing.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Exactly a blessing any other position, receiver, running back, corner,
- 25:58Speaker 3: I get it. The show flight is not as long.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Quarterback be as old as you want be thirty years
- 26:03Speaker 3: old coming out of the draft. If you're gonna do,
- 26:04Speaker 3: I'm taking you, and you know what, You're gonna be
- 26:06Speaker 3: my quarterback for the next seven years and I'm gonna
- 26:07Speaker 3: win a lot of games.
- 26:08Speaker 10: I don't think he's a quarterback that can run the
- 26:11Speaker 10: show when he has people to give the ball to.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Back.
- 26:18Speaker 10: If he's a right system, he'll be fine. But if
- 26:21Speaker 10: he is, the more he has to run the show.
- 26:24Speaker 3: They they ain't got their staring quarterback. And this year's
- 26:27Speaker 3: drafting Pittsburgh, So.
- 26:28Speaker 9: We'll tell you know. McCarthy was the was the Cowboys
- 26:30Speaker 9: head coach. And you're a Cowboys fan. Can you feel
- 26:32Speaker 9: like McCarthy can elevate like a nut smile or like
- 26:35Speaker 9: a Carson Becacine that type of quarterback coach.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Or I like McCarthy and the guy who normally sits here,
- 26:42Speaker 3: Keen is today he could speak on Mike McCarthy a
- 26:44Speaker 3: lot better than me. I know how Matt feels about
- 26:46Speaker 3: Mike McCarthy. That told me he likes Mike McCarthy, so
- 26:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna take his word for it. I liked McCarthy.
- 26:52Speaker 3: I don't think McCarthy was a problem in Dallas, Like
- 26:55Speaker 3: maybe a problem, not the main problem. I didn't hate
- 26:58Speaker 3: the shake up, but he kind of took the fall
- 26:59Speaker 3: for a lot of things in Dallas. Like I'm I
- 27:02Speaker 3: like Mike McCarthy. I just I don't. I don't know
- 27:05Speaker 3: what Pittsburgh is gonna do. They're gonna have the bag
- 27:07Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers to come back again at this point. But
- 27:12Speaker 3: you know, you guys were mentioning the Jets. You guys
- 27:15Speaker 3: like what the Jets did?
- 27:16Speaker 2: No bras and likes. I don't, I don't, I do not.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Yeahon Taylor, if it.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Was another team, I would love it. But you got
- 27:27Speaker 3: Kenyon Sadik, you grab Omar Cooper Jr. You have three
- 27:31Speaker 3: first round picks in total. It was awesome you traded
- 27:34Speaker 3: back up to get that third first round pick. My
- 27:36Speaker 3: problem is, look at what you have, Like, yes, you
- 27:38Speaker 3: have Mason Taylor, but Kenyon Side can play on the
- 27:40Speaker 3: outside like he's he's a hybrid. Anyways, when I look
- 27:43Speaker 3: at the Jets, you now have Garrett Wilson, Omar Cooper, Junior,
- 27:48Speaker 3: Kenyon Sadik, Mason Taylor, Breise Hall awesome excellent playmakers and
- 27:53Speaker 3: Geno freaking Smith at quarterback with no one to get
- 27:55Speaker 3: them the ball. You drafted to win now, you don't
- 27:58Speaker 3: have the quarterback to win now. You traded future draft
- 28:02Speaker 3: capital up to get that third first round pick. Again,
- 28:06Speaker 3: that's that's like a team that is drafting to win now,
- 28:09Speaker 3: but you're not in win now. Moodie of the New
- 28:11Speaker 3: York Jets. I like the picks, I like the players.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I don't like that the Jets were the ones making
- 28:15Speaker 3: those picks because you're not ready to contend, and that's
- 28:17Speaker 3: what a contending team does.
- 28:19Speaker 9: I just think they're in a tank for arts, man
- 28:21Speaker 9: like I think they'll full Like you don't pick up
- 28:23Speaker 9: Gino Smith, who just blessed the Raiders with the number
- 28:26Speaker 9: one pick and thinking that is gonna flip a switch
- 28:28Speaker 9: in you're the Jets. It's not like you're going into
- 28:29Speaker 9: the steel like if Gino went to the Steelers, okay,
- 28:31Speaker 9: like maybe he might have a little bit of juice
- 28:33Speaker 9: in the tank, but just that putting on that Jets
- 28:35Speaker 9: jersey just brings your overall down about fifty percent.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Like you just already you dreamed. I mean, you think
- 28:39Speaker 2: they're gonna have draft a quarterback probably today?
- 28:42Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:42Speaker 2: Yeah, probably today? What tomorrow?
- 28:43Speaker 3: Also, I hate to just stay his negative Nancy. Apparently
- 28:47Speaker 3: I hated the draft. I got two more losers here.
- 28:49Speaker 3: I only really had two winners. I got two more losers.
- 28:52Speaker 3: First one is the Years and the Cardinals. Oh yeah,
- 28:53Speaker 3: talked about this a little bit in the first segment.
- 28:57Speaker 3: I think Jeremiah loves Awesome. I'm not as necessarily one
- 29:00Speaker 3: of those people that's like, you can't draft to running
- 29:02Speaker 3: back in the first round if it's your final piece,
- 29:05Speaker 3: And like, Okay, when the Lions did this with Jamiir Gibbs,
- 29:08Speaker 3: they already had a David Montgomery to take a little
- 29:10Speaker 3: bit of the pressure off of him. They had Jared Goff,
- 29:12Speaker 3: they had am and Aral Saint Brown, you had the
- 29:14Speaker 3: O line fix. You're like, I need one more weapon,
- 29:16Speaker 3: one more playmaker, a versatile guy like a Jamier Gibbs.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I'm good with it. And they've won a lot of
- 29:21Speaker 3: games with Jamier Gibbs. They've been real, real close to
- 29:24Speaker 3: make it a run there in Detroit. You are so
- 29:26Speaker 3: far away from contending if you're Arizona, you need help
- 29:30Speaker 3: all across the offensive line. Jacoby Brissett's your quarterback, which
- 29:34Speaker 3: means he's probably not your long term answer. I think
- 29:36Speaker 3: Marvin Harrison Junior is underachieved. I think you need help
- 29:39Speaker 3: outside your defensive line. Like, you don't really have a
- 29:42Speaker 3: premier pass rusher at this point, and you drafted a
- 29:45Speaker 3: running back third overall great player. He doesn't have an
- 29:49Speaker 3: offensive line to lean on. What's Jacoby Brissette going to do?
- 29:53Speaker 3: I mean, he was actually decent last year, but can
- 29:56Speaker 3: that continue? Your defense is a mess. You're gonna be
- 29:59Speaker 3: playing from behind him a lot of games, so that
- 30:02Speaker 3: you're in a negative game script. How much is Jeremiah
- 30:04Speaker 3: Love actually even going to get the ball again? Love
- 30:07Speaker 3: the player, hate the team that made the pick? Like that,
- 30:09Speaker 3: just that doesn't make any sense to me. I'm the
- 30:12Speaker 3: Arizona Cardinals. I'm either trading back or I'm I'm grabbing
- 30:15Speaker 3: ed rusher offensive line right there, and you can say, oh,
- 30:17Speaker 3: that's high. Look on r VL Reeves was there for
- 30:19Speaker 3: the taking. That's a guy you could have grabbed like
- 30:22Speaker 3: Caleb Downs was there. That's a guy that's gonna make
- 30:24Speaker 3: your defense better. I just Jeremiah Love, I think was
- 30:27Speaker 3: a pick two years from now for Arizon. Give him
- 30:31Speaker 3: year three. Maybe that's a team you can build around him.
- 30:34Speaker 3: I just I don't think running back is ever your
- 30:36Speaker 3: first piece. If you're drafting them in the first round,
- 30:38Speaker 3: it's your last piece five. If you're like, hey, a
- 30:41Speaker 3: Bjon Robinson, a Jamir Gibbs, a Saquon can really put
- 30:44Speaker 3: me over the top one offense and everything else is
- 30:46Speaker 3: in place, take it other than that, I just I
- 30:49Speaker 3: don't like it, especially a team like the Cardinals probably
- 30:51Speaker 3: playing from behind in a lot of games. Also, the
- 30:55Speaker 3: Tennessee Typs like that to me, that screamed panic pick
- 30:58Speaker 3: you grabbed Dwandel Robbin in the offseason. You actually have
- 31:01Speaker 3: some decent young receivers, Like, yeah, I'm all about getting
- 31:05Speaker 3: kim Ward some more weapons. But if I personally believe
- 31:09Speaker 3: the Titans pandaged because they were going to take Jeremiah Love,
- 31:11Speaker 3: didn't think the Cardinals were going to do it, I'm
- 31:13Speaker 3: either going Love. If not, I'm gonna show up that
- 31:16Speaker 3: defense a little bit more. I mean, I think you
- 31:17Speaker 3: did a good job in the secondary. Need a little
- 31:20Speaker 3: bit of help on defensive line. Maybe help out Jeffrey
- 31:22Speaker 3: Simmons try to free him up a little bit more.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I don't love what they did with carnal tate one.
- 31:27Speaker 3: I think that's too high. Also, I just gut feeling,
- 31:32Speaker 3: I don't think that was the pick that they wanted
- 31:34Speaker 3: to make. I think they panicked and they were like,
- 31:35Speaker 3: you know what, we'll just go value here. See we
- 31:37Speaker 3: can get something out of carnal Tatega and good player
- 31:40Speaker 3: don't like to fit there with Tennessee. All right, we're
- 31:43Speaker 3: gonna take a quick time out. We get back talk
- 31:45Speaker 3: a little bit more spring practice. Some things that I
- 31:48Speaker 3: think need to be a lot better for LSU football
- 31:50Speaker 3: coming up here in twenty twenty six. That's coming up
- 31:52Speaker 3: next here on off the bench.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Off the bench, all right, go to gcop net dot com.

- 32:56Speaker 2: I want to telling about so sound man and I'm.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Telling about Tigers turn talkers. This is Off the Bench.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Standing day.
- 33:07Speaker 3: You teeted Man how beat his bad for my go?
- 33:12Speaker 3: And we ain't been nothing that.
- 33:14Speaker 1: We used a poll at the dog as you mind,
- 33:19Speaker 1: Damy car.
- 33:19Speaker 6: You know I be homekeep me on the ring time.
- 33:26Speaker 10: That Venus hold I paid for it.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Welcome back in hour number two. Here on a Friday
- 33:32Speaker 3: edition of Off the Bench, Taylor Sharp is sitting in
- 33:34Speaker 3: for Jacob Eser and Matt Flinn, who will be back
- 33:37Speaker 3: both of them on Monday. Look, we have talked a
- 33:40Speaker 3: lot of NFL Draft. We've talked a little bit of
- 33:42Speaker 3: spring football. Real quick here, we got a few minutes
- 33:45Speaker 3: before we need to go to break ran long. In
- 33:47Speaker 3: that last segment of my apologies there, I want to
- 33:50Speaker 3: mention a little bit of spring practice. So yesterday on Thursday,
- 33:54Speaker 3: was the last day of media availability for spring practice.
- 33:58Speaker 3: So that's it. Not really gonna get to see anything
- 34:00Speaker 3: until fall camp rolls around. And I was unable to
- 34:03Speaker 3: make it out there because look a lot of times,
- 34:05Speaker 3: like during the week, I can go to the Saturday scrimmages.
- 34:07Speaker 3: During the week, it's it's hunting Matt like they're out
- 34:10Speaker 3: there because we're they let you in at like ninety five.
- 34:13Speaker 3: We don't get done un till ten. Oh, she really
- 34:15Speaker 3: doesn't like when you show up late. I'm not going
- 34:18Speaker 3: to do that. I'm not gonna be that guy. So,
- 34:20Speaker 3: you know, it's been limited what I could see during
- 34:23Speaker 3: the week. But they have a pretty detailed practice report,
- 34:25Speaker 3: the Final Spring Practice Report. You can read it on
- 34:28Speaker 3: Louisiana Sports dot Net. They've done a great job all
- 34:31Speaker 3: spring long keeping you updated and you know, over overall
- 34:35Speaker 3: takeaway like if if you want to go read the
- 34:37Speaker 3: detailed report of the one on ones the eleven on eleven,
- 34:40Speaker 3: you can certainly do that. My overall takeaway is, I
- 34:43Speaker 3: think when spring started, Land and Clark kind of seemed
- 34:47Speaker 3: like the more ready of the two quarterbacks, kind of
- 34:50Speaker 3: seemed like the more polished. And then you know, when
- 34:53Speaker 3: we all went out there during that first scrimmage in
- 34:56Speaker 3: Tiger Stadium, I thought Who's on Long Street had the
- 34:58Speaker 3: better day? However, I thought both really struggle. Really since
- 35:02Speaker 3: that point, going forward, you've seen more and more who
- 35:04Speaker 3: saw on Long Street running with the Ones. It was
- 35:07Speaker 3: almost exclusively Land to Clark for the first like week,
- 35:09Speaker 3: week and a half of sprint, Like the first two
- 35:12Speaker 3: days was kind of split reps. Then it was Clark
- 35:14Speaker 3: for like a week strip and after that you've seen
- 35:17Speaker 3: more and more who's on Long Street with the Ones. Now,
- 35:20Speaker 3: keep in mind this is the battle for QB two,
- 35:22Speaker 3: because make no mistake about it, Sam Levitt is going
- 35:25Speaker 3: to be your starting quarterback when you kick things off
- 35:27Speaker 3: against Clemson coming up here in the opener, like that's
- 35:30Speaker 3: that is going to happen. But Long Street maybe his
- 35:36Speaker 3: passed Land to Clark. I think there's a role for
- 35:37Speaker 3: Clark because I think he's such a good runner. I
- 35:40Speaker 3: mean on the inside run. Yesterday Matt reports that he
- 35:42Speaker 3: had a sixty yard touchdown run on inside run, like
- 35:44Speaker 3: and that's that's something that it's not out of the
- 35:48Speaker 3: ordinary for a guy like land of Clark. The scrimmages
- 35:50Speaker 3: we've been able to go to, he's he's busted some
- 35:52Speaker 3: runs there as well. And I understand you're gonna say, well,
- 35:55Speaker 3: hell Taylor, they can't touch him. Of course, he's busting
- 35:57Speaker 3: long runs. Yeah, but I mean, like before he's even touched,
- 35:59Speaker 3: he's nine ten yards down the field, So the guy
- 36:02Speaker 3: could run, make no mistake about it. But you know,
- 36:05Speaker 3: long Street a little bit more consistent here the past
- 36:08Speaker 3: few weeks. It'll be interesting to see, you know, if
- 36:12Speaker 3: by any chance Sam Levitt does go down in the season,
- 36:15Speaker 3: who goes in. Is it Clark who started a lot
- 36:17Speaker 3: more games at a little bit of a lower level
- 36:20Speaker 3: like Elon, or is it whusaw on long Street, the
- 36:22Speaker 3: former five star, even though he only played in four
- 36:25Speaker 3: games last year USC so a lot less experience, but
- 36:28Speaker 3: he has done it at a higher level of football.
- 36:30Speaker 3: So it'll be interesting to see, Like as an insurance
- 36:33Speaker 3: policy to Sam Levitt, who Lane Kiffin would actually turn
- 36:37Speaker 3: to That's something that to be watching, you know, kind
- 36:40Speaker 3: of as we get into fall camp and obviously as
- 36:43Speaker 3: the season goes along. But the big thing for me,
- 36:47Speaker 3: the special teams has got to be a lot better.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Jason jern On earlier, and look, in my opinion, that
- 36:51Speaker 3: was one of the big achilles heels of the Brian Kelly.
- 36:54Speaker 3: I don't think he ever figured out his special teams.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Like Damian Ramos was steady, he was consistent as your
- 37:00Speaker 3: field goal kicker. Outside of that, I think you've struggled
- 37:03Speaker 3: your returning game. I mean, you know, we were begging
- 37:06Speaker 3: for somebody to just go back there and fair catch.
- 37:08Speaker 3: It had not dropped the ball Kelly's last two years here.
- 37:11Speaker 3: I mean, that's how bad it got. Kelly's first two
- 37:14Speaker 3: years here. And then punter's been been very shaky. You've
- 37:18Speaker 3: kind of had a turn style of punters going through
- 37:20Speaker 3: this program. All of them have been shaky. Grant Chadwick
- 37:23Speaker 3: does return. You bring in Hayden Craig from Florida. They
- 37:27Speaker 3: were both punting. You know, we got to see a
- 37:29Speaker 3: little bit of the punts in both of the scrimmages.
- 37:32Speaker 3: And while I thought both of them were shaky, yell out.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Hayden Craig was probably a little bit better than Grant Chadwick.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I mean, and it's it's kind of splitting hairs. I
- 37:39Speaker 3: just I thought his good kicks were better. That's what
- 37:42Speaker 3: I should say both of them. Both them have their
- 37:44Speaker 3: struggles with consistence the other other Craig's good punts were
- 37:47Speaker 3: better than that of Grant Chadwick. Also, punt return needs
- 37:52Speaker 3: to be stable. Like on this practice report, special teams
- 37:56Speaker 3: is mentioned, and look, the punt returners that we've seen
- 37:58Speaker 3: back there has been kind of the same. Jason Brown,
- 38:00Speaker 3: Trey Wilson, Winston Watkins, and Dylan Jones, Jabari Mack. Those
- 38:04Speaker 3: five guys have been kind of rotting from what I've seen. Again,
- 38:07Speaker 3: it's been limited on my part. Jason Brown's maybe been
- 38:10Speaker 3: the most consistent. Like Matt and Hunt put in this
- 38:13Speaker 3: article of note, Wilson muffed another punt. He's done that
- 38:17Speaker 3: four of the five times in media availability. If you're
- 38:21Speaker 3: gonna fumble the punch, you can't be back there. Think
- 38:25Speaker 3: about two years ago, we were so excited when Aaron
- 38:28Speaker 3: Anderson and Savion Thomas joined this program because we were like,
- 38:31Speaker 3: hey can you get any sort of thing in the
- 38:33Speaker 3: return game. And you know, at the end of the year,
- 38:36Speaker 3: Aaron Anderson had a kickoff return against Oklahoma, Savion Thomas
- 38:39Speaker 3: had won in the bowl game against Baylor. Then you
- 38:42Speaker 3: paired that with bringing in a Barrying Brown his past year.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Now it wasn't necessarily bad, Like Baron Brown had the
- 38:48Speaker 3: kickoff return for a touchdown against Houston in the bowl game,
- 38:51Speaker 3: and you know there were two or three times Zavion
- 38:55Speaker 3: Thomas looked like he was close to breaking one. It
- 38:59Speaker 3: needs to be, however, this offense is gonna be good
- 39:02Speaker 3: enough to where it's not gonna have to rely on
- 39:05Speaker 3: punt returning. In my opinion, like I kind of think
- 39:08Speaker 3: it's just can you get a steady guy back there
- 39:11Speaker 3: that's going to catch the ball, that knows when to
- 39:13Speaker 3: call for a fair catch, knows when to try to
- 39:14Speaker 3: return it. That's all I ask for. Like last year,
- 39:18Speaker 3: you wanted so much more out of the return game
- 39:20Speaker 3: that it almost felt like they underachieved, even if they
- 39:23Speaker 3: didn't like raw numbers wise, because your offense was so
- 39:26Speaker 3: stagnant that you needed a defensive turnover, you needed a
- 39:29Speaker 3: big play in the return game to kind of flip
- 39:31Speaker 3: the field, get you and plus territory. Help out this
- 39:34Speaker 3: stagnant offense. With Lane Kiffin coming in, I don't really
- 39:37Speaker 3: see that being an issue because I think Kiffin's gonna
- 39:40Speaker 3: have a really good offense, not a hot take or anything.
- 39:43Speaker 3: He's had a good offense everywhere he's been. So can
- 39:46Speaker 3: you just get a little bit of stability back there
- 39:48Speaker 3: in the returning game. If you can do that, I
- 39:51Speaker 3: think this team's gonna put up a lot of points. Look,
- 39:52Speaker 3: whether it's Levit, whether it's Clark, whether it's long Street,
- 39:55Speaker 3: these guys are getting more and more comfortable in this
- 39:57Speaker 3: offense as spring went along, Like first GrimAge I went to,
- 40:00Speaker 3: I came back up in here Saturday and I was like, yeah,
- 40:02Speaker 3: it was ugly. The offense was terrible. Well, since that
- 40:04Speaker 3: point on, they they've gotten a little bit better. Each
- 40:07Speaker 3: time the reports have come out from spring practice. It's hey,
- 40:09Speaker 3: the offense looks a little bit better. They're yelling a
- 40:11Speaker 3: little bit. That's without your starting quarterback even in there.
- 40:14Speaker 3: All I ask on this pervent turn unit, don't fumble
- 40:17Speaker 3: the ball. That's it. If you make smart decisions, you're
- 40:21Speaker 3: sure handed, you're back there.
- 40:23Speaker 2: I'm good with it.
- 40:24Speaker 3: I just don't need anything disastrous, because again I think
- 40:26Speaker 3: this offense is going to put up a lot of points.
- 40:29Speaker 3: All right, we're going to take a quick time out.
- 40:30Speaker 3: We get back. We're wrapping up our number two. Then
- 40:33Speaker 3: in hour three we'll have Devin snow aka hold de Mayo.
- 40:36Speaker 3: He'll jump on with us. We'll look at LSU Tigers
- 40:38Speaker 3: remaining in the NFL draft, where when they can maybe
- 40:42Speaker 3: potentially hear their name called, what kind of pro prospects
- 40:44Speaker 3: they are. And then at nine thirty we'll get a
- 40:46Speaker 3: baseball preview in Mississippi State LSU out there in Starkville.
- 40:49Speaker 3: That's all coming up. You're on, off the bench, off
- 40:52Speaker 3: the bench, all right.
- 40:55Speaker 7: I want to tell you about our awesome new friends
- 40:58Speaker 7: over at Emerson Heating in Air MCN Heated and Air Company.
- 41:03Speaker 7: They have been out to my house twice. Now, want
- 41:05Speaker 7: to give me a little spring check up, make sure
- 41:08Speaker 7: my AC unit is rocking and rolling ready to go
- 41:11Speaker 7: for summer. And another and another time I had I
- 41:13Speaker 7: had a backed up drain line over there, and that
- 41:15Speaker 7: I called them on a Wednesday. They were out there
- 41:18Speaker 7: on a Thursday. My AC was running and humming and purring,
- 41:22Speaker 7: like it never has before on Thursday. So, uh, they
- 41:25Speaker 7: are the best. They are a company that truly like
- 41:28Speaker 7: their owners are involved in it. It's not this big company.
- 41:30Speaker 7: We used to work with a company that was so corporate.
- 41:33Speaker 7: I had to call an eight hundred number. Like the
- 41:35Speaker 7: people that came out there, they didn't know my name. Like,
- 41:38Speaker 7: these people are in the business. And guess what if
- 41:40Speaker 7: you call them right now, there's an OTB special right now,
- 41:43Speaker 7: make sure that AC is up and running before summer
- 41:45Speaker 7: eighty nine dollars special for that spring service. So give
- 41:49Speaker 7: them a call or go see them at ems air
- 41:51Speaker 7: dot net.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Slow motion fort slow motionment moving, slow motion.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Snow tigers, turn talkers.
- 42:03Speaker 3: This is Off the Bench, Like that seat work in
- 42:07Speaker 3: that back. I don't know how to have snow moship
- 42:10Speaker 3: snows all right, welcome back in final segment. Here an
- 42:14Speaker 3: hour two Friday edition of Off the Bench. Taylor Sharp
- 42:16Speaker 3: sitting in here with you. We've been draft heavy so
- 42:19Speaker 3: far here on this Friday. We've talked a little bit lsovootball,
- 42:23Speaker 3: but for the most part it's been an FL draft.
- 42:25Speaker 3: Look that's gonna continue a little bit into hour three.
- 42:28Speaker 3: We'll talk about the remaining LSU Tigers in the draft
- 42:31Speaker 3: who can maybe have their name called next spoiler alert,
- 42:33Speaker 3: it's probably a J. Halsey.
- 42:35Speaker 9: Uh.
- 42:35Speaker 3: We'll talk to Devin snow Hold the Mayo his normal
- 42:37Speaker 3: Friday segment at nine am. We'll get his thoughts on
- 42:40Speaker 3: the draft. Look, our guy said he was done with WrestleMania,
- 42:44Speaker 3: but uh, he's been tweeting a lot about it these
- 42:46Speaker 3: last few days. We'll get his thoughts. I know he's
- 42:48Speaker 3: gonna be out there at the Zurich. Well, we'll talk
- 42:50Speaker 3: about that as well. Matt moscona three to six af
- 42:53Speaker 3: R will actually be live from the Zurich. Tune into
- 42:55Speaker 3: here that and then haunt Palmer of course, out there
- 42:58Speaker 3: in Starkville for the baseball which we will break down
- 43:01Speaker 3: at nine thirty. Just a few more minutes here before break.
- 43:07Speaker 3: We got two guys back there that are just itching
- 43:10Speaker 3: to go. I mean I heard them this morning arguing
- 43:13Speaker 3: about this before the show we even started. We got Jordan,
- 43:16Speaker 3: We got Braxton. The dudes loved basketball. Braxton is such
- 43:19Speaker 3: a good athlete. He blew out his knee last night
- 43:21Speaker 3: in a pickup game. I mean, these guys are these
- 43:23Speaker 3: guys are all about ball, like they are the definition
- 43:26Speaker 3: of ball is life. Guys. We got some NBA playoff serieses,
- 43:31Speaker 3: some of them, in my opinion, a little bit surprising.
- 43:34Speaker 3: Maybe not even you know where the series stands, but
- 43:38Speaker 3: how the games have gone so far. Are the Denver
- 43:41Speaker 3: Nuggets cooked?
- 43:42Speaker 9: There are definitely cooking. They're in deep doodo. You don't
- 43:45Speaker 9: you don't respond like that. After Jaden McDaniels calls out
- 43:48Speaker 9: the whole team, basically says we're gonna go out them,
- 43:50Speaker 9: Jop's candefend Jamal Murray Candefan calls out the whole team
- 43:54Speaker 9: and then on back of that, he drops twenty one
- 43:56Speaker 9: to ten and they smoke you, guys.
- 43:58Speaker 3: They it was. It was like a thirty five point
- 44:00Speaker 3: lead at halftime.
- 44:01Speaker 9: Literally smoked them. So I think the Nuggets are definitely
- 44:04Speaker 9: in deep doodo. That's That's never a good sign. That's
- 44:06Speaker 9: never a good sign for a championship caliber team to
- 44:09Speaker 9: respond like that.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Keep in mind, like you got smoked last night about
- 44:12Speaker 3: the Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards scored seventeen points, six of
- 44:15Speaker 3: fifteen shooting. Literally, Anthony Edwards wasn't good last night and
- 44:18Speaker 3: he got just two for eight from three, and the
- 44:20Speaker 3: Timberwolves handled that game. Anthony Edwards isn't going to do
- 44:24Speaker 3: that night in a night out anthy Otheritord is gonna
- 44:26Speaker 3: give you twenty five thirty next game, and he's not
- 44:28Speaker 3: even healthy right now, and you're really gonna be in troump.
- 44:30Speaker 10: If you would have asked me who were the highest
- 44:31Speaker 10: scorer for the timb Wolves last night, if I didn't
- 44:33Speaker 10: watch the game, I would have said easy, Like I
- 44:36Speaker 10: could say j mc daniels, I could say and I
- 44:38Speaker 10: could say Julish Randall.
- 44:39Speaker 3: But obviously it's perennial All Star au de soon move. Obviously, Yeah,
- 44:44Speaker 3: I mean obviously everybody had that on their bingo card.
- 44:46Speaker 3: He was gonna lead them in scoring. H Look, Timberwolves
