- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to keeping it relevant.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Giving you the wrong information with the utmost confidence.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: So, on today's docket, John, give me that relative news feed.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: I'm John.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Relative.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Relevant relative.
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: That's Cody.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: It's all relative.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: Just don't, just don't.
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: This guy's all business all play.
- 0:24SPEAKER_02: Just went straight for like what's the news we got going on?
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: Didn't even introduce us or nothing.
- 0:30SPEAKER_02: So that's cool.
- 0:31unknown: Diving in deep.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: Anyways, Cody's here.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: He wasn't here last episode, two episodes ago.
- 0:37SPEAKER_02: I don't know at this point.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: Depends how we put these out.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: Depends.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we film, we film, we record all these at once.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: Hey, so are you guys familiar with the actor named um the guy that played Opie and and uh Sons of Anarchy?
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Ryan Ryan Durst?
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Uh I haven't seen Sons of Anarchy.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: He is played by Ryan Hurst.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: He was also remember the Titans.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: He was Mr.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Gary Burktier.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: And um he is the guard for Odysseus the Son and the Odyssey.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: He was recently cast as uh Kratos.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Oh, that guy.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I saw that.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: And and the God of War show being done by uh Amazon.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: He is no longer in it.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: He got injured on set, and it is now officially uh gonna be Dave Batista.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: Um so here's the thing, Cody.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: You had asked me why they had to recast.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't personally I don't see why they couldn't have just waited for it to heal up and then continue shooting.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: So do you know how long it takes for a torn bicep to heal?
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: Not a clue.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: One year minimum.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: That's why they couldn't do it.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: Fair enough.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: So it it takes about a year minimum for a torn bicep to heal.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: And that's just a heal.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: We're not even talking about it like being like functioning.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: That's just um and then after that, of course, physical therapy and whatnot, and you know, you're looking at about a year and some change.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: With this, and with the kid aging, and with them already started filming, budgeting, and production, and they've already been greenlit for season two.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they they had to that's why they had to recast.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: With that info, that makes a lot more sense.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Because at first I was just like, why don't you just let it heal?
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Did not realize that would take a year.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and that that was honestly that when I just heard he was injured, I was like, either it's something serious or they're being stupid.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: But no, when I heard it was a torn bicep, I was like, oh, shoot.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's but with that logic, those aren't mutually exclusive thoughts.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: What do you mean?
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: No, but it does make more sense.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: If it's gonna take that long to get back, especially with the kid part, that's where it becomes an issue with any live action thing that involves kids because they age a lot quicker than like we do as far as the way they look.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Well, I say we do as an adult, like you know, two years later, a kid's not gonna look remotely the way they did when you started shooting, so the timeline on that stuff is so fast.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because then you would have to recast a kid.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: Now, granted, they are recasting a kid for season two, but that's because years have gone down the line that's and that's different.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that makes more sense if you're gonna do a time jump.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: If you keep the same person, especially that's like, okay, we did a time jump.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: This makes more sense.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: The problem is, like, if you're not doing that, then it's like uh Stranger Things, for example.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, they were supposed to be what 12 that entire show, 12, 13, something.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: It was supposed to be like four years.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Because it's start starting at like 11 and 12, and then yeah.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but like they were all what, like mid-twenties by the time that show was delivered.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Like like early to mid-twenties, yeah, by the time by the time it ended.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Enough that one got married.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: So enough that uh one is now Gene Gray.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: So also that.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, that's why they did that.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Um just a lot of a lot of production issues.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: But it it's Dave Batista now.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: I think it's really cool for it to be Dave Batista, but you you sound like you have an issue with that.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: So like Dave Batista, obviously he's known for like Drax and all of his action roles.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Well, what, like, year and a half ago, two years ago, he came out in an interview, like, because he changed his physique and all that.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Real slim.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: He attributed slim to us, still big to the normal person.
- 5:01SPEAKER_02: If you know him from like wrestling, you're like, wow, he's little, but you see him stand next to somebody, he's still like a freaking mountain.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: But yeah.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: But like his whole issue with doing that was to I don't want to be keep getting tight casts of this action, action, action, and want to do more drama thrillers, and like widen his scope of acting, and then you go and audition for what you're trying to break from.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: On your words, not my words.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but he came out.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: I get where you're at.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: I think it would be a bigger issue if this was old God of War story, but with the like PS4, PS5 version, it is a lot more like I guess like in-depth story than like the original is.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Like, there's a lot more emotion to it.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Like, there's a lot more he has to do than just I'm going and beat people up.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: There is like deeper storytelling in the newer story than the old.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: It just feels like he's playing that character.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Like, I know it's it feels like he's playing that character.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: Well, I meant that as a He's just playing another character.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: A typecasting action hero.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Well, he was just in that movie with Jason Momoa, and that was like apparently a nonstop like action comedy.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: But he was still big there, so I don't know when he shot that.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Like he's jacked in that.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: He he shot that pretty recent.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: I don't know when they shot that.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: But that's what I was saying.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: Like, like, like because you and I know him from WWE.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: He's he's still a big jack dude, just not compared to WWE.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: The last time he was like WWE big was what's it called?
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: Knock at the cabin?
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: Or that M.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: Night Shamalon one?
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, knock on the door.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, something like that.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: That was the last time he was like WWE huge.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: Since then, though, like he he has he hasn't gone back to that since then.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: So I just think, like, especially especially next to Jason Momoa, you're like, these two guys look huge.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: It's just the fact that he's been vocal about getting away from typecasting him as an action star to do more serious roles, and yet it just seems like that was a fool's comment.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: I get it.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: I think this is in a weird spot, I think, because it is very much an action role, but it also has like deeper storytelling for him to get into that part.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: So it's almost in that weird gray area of like, it has what I want, of where like there's heavy moments, there's this, there's that, but also it is just an action thing.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: It's kind of both.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: I I think also, hold on, I'm messing with my mic one second.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: I think also, on top of that, I I think he was talking more about like man with the iron fist type of action movies, versus like something like God of War, where like, yeah, it's it's an action thing, but it like Cody says, it is more drama.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: See, I didn't get that from that.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: I understood it as he wanted to do more roles like his short stint in Blade Runner 2099, where he played that replicant that was hiding the I think it was the kid replicant.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: I don't know, I haven't seen it.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: I know he was a replicant.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Well, that one had no like he had a he had a fight with Ryan Gosling in that, but it was more just a dialogue between the two of them in like idealations.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: I mean, I guess even another thing we've both watched it.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, in a sense, it's kind of it was animated, but I mean he was in Avatar and his character's mostly in it for the action.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wouldn't give it a voice acting is in a weird spot.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Like he's not actually doing the action, but it almost feels like oh he's just another big dude.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Fair, fair.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: It's just, I don't know.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: It's just one of those things of like, why do the interview state the thing, and then I'm gonna circle back around to it.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe he wasn't getting enough work.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: It's a paycheck.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: I can't um can't argue.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: So there's that.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: Also in relevant news.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm gonna mash these two together.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: D-23 was very, very recent.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: Uh I they announced a few things.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: Of course, we knew about uh The Incredibles 3, they did more stuff on that.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: They officially once again announced Coco 2.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: They released the trailer for Frozen, but you have to look at like, did you guys see the Frozen 3 trailer?
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Uh I watched the like camera shaping film version of it.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: I've seen something, I don't remember what.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: I think I just looked at it and went, I don't care enough.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: What?
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: You don't you're not a frozen guy?
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: I liked the first one and I thought the second was fine, but I'm like, okay, why are we doing more of it?
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Money.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: I think I think you need to.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: But from a why would I care?
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: I think you just need to take this with a grain of s grain of salt and just be proud that he actually has seen the two previous movies.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: No, I'm I'm very proud.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: Cody, I'm very proud of you.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Good job.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: You know it's fair.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: You did great.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: Um I called it the second I saw so I didn't get to see the second one in theaters.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: I saw the second one with my family.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: And the second the second one ended, I looked at my wife and I said, the third one's gonna have an actual antagonist, and it's gonna be a sorcerer that also has either the same powers or opposite powers as Elsa.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: And she's gonna have to really push herself to the limit of everything she's learned since the first one to either take down or do something with this sorcerer.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: Uh now I didn't say sorceress, but I still was like, that's what's gonna happen.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: Trailer happens, and then killer killer butterfly, I guess, and then boom, some sorcerer shows up, and it was just like, let me show you like what power is.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, I called this.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: I called it since the ending of the second one.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: Because I was like, I was like, the first one, not really a bad guy.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: Like, sure, like uh Christoph.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: Like uh Hans.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, but like, what whatever.
- 11:13SPEAKER_02: The second one was literally the movie The Fifth Element, and it was like El.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: Literally what it was.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: And then I was like, so I was like, we this one has to be like, like, we have to have an actual like I bet they end up together.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: That's what that's what my wife said, I think.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: I that's okay.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: No, but like I but honestly, the way the way it was, I was like, I bet you they end up together.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: It's because the second movie's Elsa's Gay Awakening.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: You're not wrong.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Rewatch that movie.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: I didn't get that.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, 100%.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: My favorite line in the trailer is Olaf saying they were doing mouth-on-mouth stuff.
- 11:56SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Like, I know they're married, but like, ex excuse me?
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: I was like, clutch my pearls.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: What did he just say?
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: But, anyways, uh then the Bluey trailer came out.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: I finally saw that.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: I cannot wait for Bluey.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure if you guys are Bluey guys, but I am.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Uh Cody, we're gonna watch that in theaters together.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: But before that, we're gonna binge all the Bluey episodes.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: But they're like five minutes, so that's like fine.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: I just said to stay on that D23 stuff real quick.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, what's going on?
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: There's more that we're just gonna be able to do it.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: A little confused as to how we're getting a Coco 2 facts.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Why why wouldn't we?
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: The story There was nothing to continue.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: The story was wrapped.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Um Tell me where this one goes, please.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: Uh to the l Ooh.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: Well, they all uh Charneries, the the l the grid comes to the real world.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Oh they already showed that they do that.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no, no, but we can't see they can't see them.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: But it's like now we see them.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: Like the way he the way Coco went into the grid, uh the grid will now be.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: I'd watch that.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Miguel, not Coco.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what's gonna happen.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess Coco would be coming back.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: You know.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, yeah, I guess technically, yeah, yeah.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: You're right, yeah, Grandma.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: But uh that uh I don't know.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: That's the only thing I can think of.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: I say in uh this is old news, but in case people weren't keep it relevant in the realm of the Disney stuff.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: If people weren't aware, Disney does now have like ALS versions of a lot of their stuff on Disney Plus.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: Oh, is that is that officially a thing now?
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm thinking I think you mean ASL, not ALS.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sorry.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Wrong acronym.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: ASL.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I double-checked it before like I knew I was gonna mention it on here because I wanted to make sure it was actually out.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: They do have ASL versions.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it's of all their movies and stuff yet, but they do have some of them out there now, so like for the deaf community, they do have things to like represent that as well, and I just thought that was really cool.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: And if people didn't know, they need to know.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: No, that's really cool.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 14:14SPEAKER_02: I didn't know that for relevance.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: We're also getting Stitch 2.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I saw that.
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: I really hope his girlfriend's in it.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it showed her on D-23.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: I didn't see that part.
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: There was so much of D-23 that happened, dude.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: So Stitch comes onto the screen and it shows like Stitch 2, and then all of a sudden you see these pink little antennas pop up, and he looks over and like he's like, and like knocks him down.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: But that's Angel.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: It's Angel.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Is what it is.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: But uh doesn't she like break his heart or something like that?
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Don't all women break boys' hearts.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: Bro, dude.
- 14:55SPEAKER_02: Isn't that the truth, man?
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: Uh gosh darn.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: But yeah, the I'm trying to think what else came out of D-23.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: Um, well, there's something I want to talk about really quick.
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: We can end relevance news with this.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: So, as everyone knows, um Doomsday's coming out, Adventures Doomsday.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: Um they released a trailer at D23, which they ended up releasing online, and it it was the exclusive trailer from San Diego Comic-Con that was only supposed to be for San Diego Comic-Con.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: They let it leak, but they kept the leak, they didn't let it leak, but it leaked.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: Okay, of course it leaked.
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: They kept the leak out because of how much publicity and how much uh attention it was getting that they decided to make it the official second trailer instead of actually releasing a second trailer, which I love because the Hot Toys came out for Doomsday, where you could see um Doom, it was Doom, Cyclops, Gambit, and Magneto.
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: And they were each standing on a piece of a sentinel.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: And I was like, why are there and it says Doom Sentinels.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: And I was like, why are there what does that mean?
- 16:15SPEAKER_02: And then I saw the leak trailer where the sentinels were coming up, and I was like, holy freaking crap.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: And then then when they officially show the trailer, you see him rising the sentinels, and then if you go on sideshow.com under Hot Toys, it says coming soon, Dooms Sentinels.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: And I as much as I know about this movie, that again, if you guys want to know off camera, I can tell you.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Um pretty sure we talked about this.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: There's more stuff I know and found out.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: I need to stop.
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to stop, but whatever.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: I think it's really cool that they're gonna officially bring the Sentinels in, and but it's gonna be like, but like Doom's gonna control them.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: Uh so I I think that's I don't know.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm going gaga over that.
- 17:05SPEAKER_02: Like, it's crazy.
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: Also, people stop being like, we need to see X-Men versus Avengers movie.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Like, where's that at?
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: We clearly are gonna see the X-Men and Avengers fight in this movie because that's half the trailers.
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: So.
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: Um also has the coolest line for me in any Marvel trailer where Thor says, You will beg for a hell before I grant it, and then Doom just one-shot Thor's and says, Hell answers to me, for I am Doom.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Just dropped a microphone I don't need to see the movie, that alone.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: The only thing I need is more Channing Tatum is gambit, and I'm good.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: And we're getting it.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: I I just need my standalone movie.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: Uh oh, dude, that that would be a while.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: I'm waiting.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: Are you are you gonna see Doomsday at all?
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, probably not.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: Probably not.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: I'm s d I'm so out of the loop with Marvel and just don't care enough anymore to even attempt to watch it.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: Okay, well that's cool.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't care about Scooby-Doo, but whatever.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: So many Scooby-Doos.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: There's more Scooby-Doo's than Marvel.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: There is.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: And I just fell off the bandwagon and a putt named Scooby-Doo.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: After that, I was like, nah, I don't need to know about these witches.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: I don't need to know about uh why he's kissing it, don't care.
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: Anyways.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: That's all for now for Elliots news.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: Uh oh, um I'll talk about it next episode, but uh Cody and Alex could suck it.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: And that's that's all I'll say.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: I saw that one coming.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, I already admitted my wrong.
- 18:47SPEAKER_02: You did.
- 18:47SPEAKER_02: Cody did it, but we'll do that.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: We'll do that later.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: Because uh that's all for that's all for relevance.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, um Warner Brothers of Paramount.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Look that up because Yeah, from what you've said, that's just a whole messy thing at this point.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Apparently, so they were supposed to have a closed door meeting, and somebody wasn't so closed?
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: Somebody wasn't so closed, and they canceled the meeting because of what was released.
- 19:14SPEAKER_02: But one of the discussions is maybe selling Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and DC to a different company to help even everything out.
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: But the thing is, uh, on my end, it's like, what's the point of owning Warner Brothers if you can't have those three IPs?
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Uh you'll still get HBO and all that stuff.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: But like That's not under Warner, though, is it?
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: It is, yeah.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: HBO is.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: But like at that point, it's like, what do you have left on HBO then if you're getting rid of those?
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: You fare with DC and Harry Potter for sure.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: And Game of Thrones, because that also is.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but how much more left is there out of that?
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: They're making a whole nother show right now.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: But eventually it there's you're gonna tap it out.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: I mean, tap it out.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: That's what they said about it.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: That's what they said about Lord of the Rings, but fetch.
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: And yeah, Harry Potter, they're just doing it again.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: And how many Batmans do we have?
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: I never said anything on that.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: There's always stories being made in DC.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you gotta just keep making the same thing with Game of Thrones.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Well, I can tell you what company can't buy one of those.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: Disney.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: Because they like it would get contested so fast.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: I just don't think it makes sense.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: Like, like, if if I'm gonna buy Warner Brothers and they're like, hey, you need to sell off some of your assets in order to make this like legal, I'd be like, cool.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: Anything but those three IPs.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: You're not wrong.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but the thing about it, like what other big IPs are there?
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Outside of those three.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: Technically, Scooby-Doo would be under the Warner Brothers banner.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: But that's but that would fall under totality of purchase.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: They're trying to sell Looney Tunes as it is.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: You know, so you got Looney Tunes, like all the Animaniac and like stuff like that.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Uh Scooby-Doo.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Um really having to get rid of any of it, like, gets into a weird space.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: You can give someone the Sopranos.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: Like, have them do what they want with that.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: I guess the wire.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the wire.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Like Yeah, no, like there's other those are just the three biggest IPs.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: I would keep HBO and those three IPs, and then just have a bidding war for everyone else for every everything else.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: And whatever you don't sell, you don't sell, you get to keep.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: And whatever you do sell, you're gonna be selling for like millions.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: So like Yeah.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: Hey, you know what Paramount needs to sell?
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: Uh oh, Aang.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: Avatar.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Avatar all.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I wanna see.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: I still haven't seen it yet.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: My family saw it without me.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: I'm a little bitter about that.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: Dang.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: So.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: Well that's that's it for um for relevant news news.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Alright.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: We're going to get into this week's episode or topic, Alex.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but it was your idea, so I think you should introduce it.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, we've talked previously about like video game adaptations or book adaptations, mostly when we were discussing like our least favorite movies.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: We had some adaptations come up.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: Figured we'd kind of talk about just adaptations as a whole.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Good, bad ones we enjoyed, kind of whatever.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: Just whatever you want to talk about.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: If you want to talk about one you enjoyed, that might be underrated.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: If you want to mention one that you think is terrible, one that might be good.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: I know one that gets into a weird space on how you count it in that would be like Jurassic Park.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: Because it's a loved franchise, but I've also been seen online, if you're going as far as adaptations, it's not a good adaptation of the books.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: Uh no, it's not.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: No.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: So it's in that weird space of like, is it good?
- 22:59SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't know how to classify that one.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: I can start off by talking about that.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, like what so like is so like that's the thing.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: Is Jurassic Park a good movie?
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: One of the best top 10, top twenty movies.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: But is it a good adaptation?
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: Is it a good adaptation for the story of Jurassic Park?
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: Absolutely not.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: It's in that weird space of like, if you're writing adaptations, like, how do you rate that one?
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Because like it's such a highly rated movie, but with adaptations, it's not considered good.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: And that's the same thing with Jaws, too, because I finally read the Jaws book and Did not know that was an adaptation.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: How did you not know that?
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: I thought Jaws was just an original idea.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: No, dude, the book is scary, dude.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: But um, but like this thing, like like for me, the Jaws movie was a really good adaptation because it left stuff out of the book that like during the book you're just like, why the flip is this even in here?
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: So it cut out the stuff it needed to cut out.
- 24:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but like but even the pre like because like the premise is the same, but like who the characters are are different in the movie than they are in the book.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: Like, they're still Rich, uh a sailor, and a cop, but like their personalities and personas in the book I think are more dickish than they are in the movies.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: So there's there's that where, like, for Jurassic Park, like, characters lived that shouldn't have lived, characters died that shouldn't have died.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: There's a whole scene in the Jurassic Park movie with the T-Rex and the Raft.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: But because of technology at the time, they couldn't do that.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: But in the latest movie with Scarlet Johansson, they had that scene in the movie.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: So it's like, it's like, does that count?
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: I don't know, like, if you're looking at like a list of the best or the worst adaptations, like, how do you put Jurassic Park on that?
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: Because it again it's not a bad movie by any means, but as far as an adaptation, it's not considered a good adaptation.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: So is it just in that weird gray area of like, it's a great movie, but kind of ignore the fact that it was an adaptation?
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: I think we put it as a bad adaptation.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: Like with the caveat, it's a good movie.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Like you can have terrible adaptations, but the movies be good.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: Because like maybe the book wasn't good.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's fair.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Like I agree with that.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: I just figured that's one that, like, to start this, it's like, well, it's in a weird spot with how you might look at it.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: And like the ones that immediately come to head are like off the top of my head that are like good adaptations and good movies are like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: Actually, no, Harry Potter would fall into Jurassic Park.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Because they leave a lot of key information out.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but like they keep a No, they keep the key information in.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: It's the side stories with the character development they leave out.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: Not for movie six.
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: Uh six is the half-blood prince.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they leave a lot of things.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: I don't know anything.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: I don't know anything about that book.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: They leave a lot of information out on the half-blood prints.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: Because, like, that doesn't show anything that Snape does in that entire book that leads up to why he did what he did.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: But we but we get that in the last movie, though, when they kill Snape.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: Do they?
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: Or is it very convoluted in kind of questioning that Harry Potter, like, may have been Snape's kid in that memory that's not.
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no.
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: We know, okay, so I know about that, but like, no, there's no way um Harry is Snape's kid.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: I know, but it definitely, like, the movie kind of hints at that.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: The movie hinted at that like that being a fun theory, but I I think the movie also right away dismisses that theory because they keep saying that he looks just like James, but he has his mother's eyes.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but w why that's just a whole that was just a side story of like, because in the book that it talks about how Snape and Lily were best friends.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: I know that, but it's and like the book six explain shows you some of the things that Snape was doing with Malfoy to give Malfoy that like guidance because of Voldemort.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: So they left all that out.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: And it makes more sense.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: I don't think that's pinnacle in the story, though.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: It does, because the whole thing was about how Malfoy was supposed to kill Dumbledore on the orders of Voldemort.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: That was all outlined in the book.
- 27:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, but we find out in the in the last movie when they take his tier that that was part of the.
- 27:41SPEAKER_02: But we're not talking about the movie at all.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: I know, I know, but what I'm saying is that they might not have had that in the in the in the m sixth movie, but watching the series, you do get that in the last movie.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: But the adaptation of book six to book movie is not good because of that.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: But that's the thing, though.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: So that's my thing about adaptations to like a series, is that do at what point do we stop like the s is there an actual fourth wall between the book and the movie?
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: Or the or the or the product of the movie?
- 28:14SPEAKER_02: Because by the time we get to like movie four and book four of Harry Potter, there has been so many changes in the characters and in the and in the st in this not the core story, but the story alone, where it's like, by the time we got to book four, it was like these are two completely different storytellings than it is.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: So like, can you, by the time we get to the sixth book, especially since the seventh book was split into two movies, by the time we get to the sixth book, is it fair to say this was a bad adaptation to the sixth movie and the sixth book, or is it like at that point we're past adaptations?
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: This is just telling the story of Harry Potter.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Like you get what I'm saying?
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: I get what you're saying, but I don't agree that it's a good adaptation at that point.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: But that's we follow your logic.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Is it an adaptation at that point?
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: Or is it just its own story being told?
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: So almost like is it kind of a Game of Thrones thing where it was going with the books and then eventually it had to veer off.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, or like a Ring of Powers thing.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 29:22unknown: Yeah.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: Ring of Powers is already kind of weird because it's like it's sort of based on the Cimmerillion, but then it's like sort of not because they can't get the rights to it.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: Well, like the Cimmerillion alone was just Token's brainstormed ideas.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: It's not even like quote unquote canon or something like that.
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: It's just him pitching to himself ideas for Lord of the Rings.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: And the Hobbit.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: And like they don't even have ac like they only have access to like a little bit of it.
- 29:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: So even when people with an example like that, when people are like, oh, this was a bad adaptation, it's like it was just ideas.
- 29:56SPEAKER_02: There is no adaptation.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't I don't agree with the Rings of Power arguments.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: Like to me, it's just its own thing.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: I don't yeah, I don't think Rings of Power is an adaptation.
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: It's just somebody it's it's somebody's more of an inspiration.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: Inspired by.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: But as far as Harry Potter goes, like by the time we get to movie six, like, at that point, is it an adaptation?
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: I think it was meant to be, and I think it wasn't executed right.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: It's fair.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: I've seen like maybe half of the movies and didn't read the book, so I can't really comment on the Harry Potter side.
- 30:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: Now uh to on the flip side of that, like, I think Lord of the Rings is a good adaptation because of how thick those books are.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: And like how much goes on in those books.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: From my understanding, he also spends a lot of time just explaining, like, landscaping, so it's like, yeah, well, you don't need to have that much time taken up.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: That's just you see it.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like it those are some it's a lot of conversations and thick books to get through.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: I don't feel the same way about The Hobbit.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: I think that's a bad one.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: No, The Hobbit was terrible.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:09SPEAKER_02: Terrible terrible movie and terrible the first movie was a good adaptation, I think.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, Up to the Trolls?
- 31:17SPEAKER_02: Up to the T-No, even just I think just the whole thing as a whole.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's the first movie's Up to the Trolls, right?
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, they don't end at the Trolls, they end after he gets the ring from Schmeagel.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: No, I think I think the first the second one?
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: What like bad adaptation, bad movie.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: Because because they did just start pulling from they started I I in my interpretation, they didn't pull from the material at all.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: They pulled from the pop culture-ness of the Lord of the Rings IP.
- 31:49SPEAKER_02: Like, example, why the flip was Legolas there?
- 31:54SPEAKER_02: Like, I understand why Legolas was there because it's freaking Legolas, and uh we love Legolas.
- 32:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: Like, we everybody loves Legolas.
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: I get it, he was the coolest son of a gun out there.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: But like, if we're talking Yeah, if we're talking about adaptations, though, why is he?
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: Like, the more I'm racking my brain right now, I don't think Legolas was in the book.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: No, he's not in the Hobbit at all.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: He's only in Lord of the Rings.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Like, uh his dad is in the Hobbit, though, because he is the king of the elves at that point.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's the king, yeah, and that sector.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: And Legolas is the wood, it's the wood elves.
- 32:28SPEAKER_02: And like, yeah, Legolas is a prince, but like, why?
- 32:33SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: They needed Orlando Bloom.
- 32:36SPEAKER_02: Well, everyone needs Orlando Bloom.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's that's again.
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: We need Orlando Bloom.
- 32:42SPEAKER_02: Orlando Bloom, if you happen to be, if you happen to be listening, you're one of our five listeners, um, hit us up, man.
- 32:51SPEAKER_02: Would love to have you on the show.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: Now, I think book adaptations and comic book adaptations are way better done than the video game genre, though.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: Uh, hold on.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: I got one for you, though.
- 33:02SPEAKER_02: What about a comic book adaptation of a of a book?
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: A comic book?
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: So they just turned a book into like a light novel?
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: They just turned a book.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: No, it's not a graphic novel, it's a comic.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: Like it's an actual comic book.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: Okay, say the name, because I don't know what one you're looking at.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: Shadow of the Empire.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: Star Wars Shadow of the Empire was a was a book first.
- 33:28SPEAKER_02: And then it became a comic book, which I appreciated because I'm stupid, not Shadow of the Empire.
- 33:36SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: That was a book that turned into a video game.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: Uh, which amazing.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm gonna say that video games.
- 33:43SPEAKER_02: The Tron, not Tron, Thron, Air of the Empire series.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: All three books, Air of the Empire, Force Commander, and uh I forgot what the last one's called.
- 33:58SPEAKER_02: All three of those turn into comic books.
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: And then you're able to the dialogue is exactly the same, but you actually get to physically see what the book is describing in comic book form.
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: That's a I it feels like that might be the easiest thing to like adapt from one format to another, I guess, in a sense, because like a comic book is just most of what you would be describing in a book, you're just drawing in a comic.
- 34:30SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 34:30SPEAKER_01: So like switching it from a book to a comic is just putting pictures to the story you're telling.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: So it's not like I don't know, that seems like that might be the easiest thing to translate from one to another.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: Would that count as an adaptation though, or are you just adding pictures to a book?
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: I think it's more that.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I'd call that an adaptation.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: That's more just you just added like stuff to it.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: But I don't really know.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: It depends, I guess that one might be more up to everybody's interpretation if you count that as an adaptation or not.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: But I don't really know on that one.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that one's a weird one.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: I don't know, like, I don't want to call it an adaptation.
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: Because it doesn't quite be like a different way.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: I feel like Yeah, but I feel like it fits the mold of what an adaptation definition is.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Well, because it's a different format.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: And that's why I'm like, yeah, but Yeah, it's it's sort of a different format, because like it isn't the exact same, but it's still in book form.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: It's just a picture book instead of only dialogue book.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: I'm curious to hear your brother's uh take on that specific.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, his brother's gonna have a real fun take with one adaptation.
- 35:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, well okay.
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: Well, just just on the topic of like of like book to comic book.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: Is that an adaptation?
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: Is that an adaptation?
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: I think it fits the definition of an adaptation.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: But me personally, I would not count it as one.
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: If it if I do count it as one, I would count it as like you played it safe.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: That I would agree with.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: But um Cody's brother, well, he everyone knows his name, Justin.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because he used to be our photographer.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:18SPEAKER_02: Justin, let me know what you think about that.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: Um Justin should let us know what he thinks about Aragon.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: Oh boy, you're talking.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: She needs to let us know about the rant is hilarious to listen to.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: Have either of you read the books for Aragon?
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: I haven't read the book, so I can't comment on it.
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: I want to read the book just be I didn't watch the movie because everyone was like the movie sucks, but it turns out it only sucked because of anyone who read the book.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: And then your brother's like, hey, I know you're reading books now, you need to read Aragon, but I don't know about reading a middle school level book.
- 36:53SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't know if I want to waste my time with that.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: To be fair though, it's like it's a pretty thick middle school book.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: I don't know who a lot of people I think read it in like middle school, but Aragon was like a pretty thick book three, unless it's just like it's bigger font.
- 37:09SPEAKER_01: It's like middle school.
- 37:10SPEAKER_02: How many books are there?
- 37:11SPEAKER_02: Like five or six?
- 37:12SPEAKER_02: Four.
- 37:12SPEAKER_02: There's four.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think blue, I know blue, red, green for sure.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: And there's like a gold or yellow one, I'm pretty sure.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: I don't fully know.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: That's more of a Justin question.
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: But it doesn't sound like either none of us can really dive into Aragon.
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: I think, hey, I think Aragon was a great adaptation.
- 37:32SPEAKER_02: And anybody that thinks otherwise clearly, clearly doesn't know what they're talking about.
- 37:39SPEAKER_02: That's a spicy take.
- 37:41SPEAKER_02: And and I'll I'll take that to the bank.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: Just a quick one, if we're doing kind of shout outs on people we know that didn't like certain things.
- 37:51SPEAKER_01: I'll shout my mom out.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: She's mentioned that one of the worst book-to-movie adaptations she's ever seen, and this is any version of it, is Flowers in the Attic.
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: I haven't read it.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: I haven't seen any of the movies, but every time I talk to her, she mentions that is by far her least favorite, like book to movie, and they've attempted it multiple times.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: I have no idea what that is at all.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: I know enough to be dangerous, but uh that's it.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: Especially if we're doing quick ones, like, well, that's another quick one, we'll get it kind of out there.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: But Cody and I had the conversation off uh offline to where where do you count Street Fighter?
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: I don't know Jean-Claude Van Damme version.
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: That's that's a that's an adaptation.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: I'm like the pref is what Alex is talking about.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: On the way to see Legend of the White Dragon, when we watched it, I was going through two different lists, one considered the best adaptations, one considered the worst, and they both had Street Fighter.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: I can't have a judgment on it because I don't know much about the Street Fighter lore or story, and I've only seen bits and parts of that movie.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: So for me, I put it in the good category.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: If it was World of Combat, I could talk about that, but Street Fighter, I don't I don't know.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: I put it in the good category because it came out in the 80s.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: It's very campy 80s.
- 39:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: And like, to me, that's what they were going for.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: So that adaptation felt like it hit the mark.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: Now, this new one that's coming out in what, two weeks, three weeks?
- 39:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, dude, is it that soon?
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: It's pretty soon.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 39:36SPEAKER_02: Dude, I'm gonna I don't know why, but every time I see that trailer, I just want to eat like hot dogs and watch that movie.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: That's what?
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: I don't know why.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: Feels like that should be when you watch Sonic.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: No, dude, I don't know.
- 39:49SPEAKER_02: The last time I saw that trailer, I was sitting with a friend, I was doing an otter, and we see it was during Masters of the Universe, they showed that trailer, so I was already like hyped.
- 39:59SPEAKER_02: And uh they showed the trailer and it was like the new one, and it gets done, and I just go, dude, I just want to eat like six hot dogs and like watch that movie.
- 40:07SPEAKER_02: So it's fire.
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: I don't know why.
- 40:09SPEAKER_02: It's a weird feel.
- 40:10SPEAKER_02: I don't know why.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: It just feels right.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: Street Fighter doesn't come out until October.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: So we're more than a couple weeks in.
- 40:17SPEAKER_02: I got time.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, okay.
- 40:18SPEAKER_02: Order my hot order my hot dogs right now.
- 40:20SPEAKER_00: But like that feel for that adaptation of Street Fighter feels more like it's gonna have funny moments in it, but it's more of a serious take.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: I could see that.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: So, but the older one was campy.
- 40:33SPEAKER_00: So, like, I get both adaptations.
- 40:35SPEAKER_02: Is Street Fighter, though, like like the like the arcade game, is it funny or is it and campy or is it more serious?
- 40:43SPEAKER_00: I feel like it's meant to be more campy because like look at the characters you can pick as like I haven't played it enough to know if there's really even much of a story.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: Because I mean, obviously, if you go like original arcade Mortal Kombat, is there really a story there other than you're just fighting through it?
- 41:03SPEAKER_02: No, there's a there's a story, just nobody reads the story because it's like when it says like press yeah, when it says like press start, it'll like it'll have like the whole screen's full of like the story of what you're doing.
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: Everyone just skips past that loose because it's okay.
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: Well I imagine.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: I don't know if Street Fighter had any.
- 41:26SPEAKER_02: I just play the game.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: It's a messed up tournament or a corrupt tournament held by General Bison to do things.
- 41:32SPEAKER_00: General bison, bad guy, fight General Bison.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: Basically.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: Pretty much, but without like I I do get one of that with different list on the internet having it both good and bad.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: And that one seems more subjective, I guess.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: Like really it's a personal choice, I guess, because it doesn't sound like it's necessarily awful, but it might not be great.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: Might just be kind of in the middle and for some reason both counted it.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: Now, like, we all agree that like the worst has gotta be that Super Mario Brothers with uh John Ledguizamo.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: And I cannot think of the other guy.
- 42:09SPEAKER_02: Um, Mark Hopkins.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: Yes, Tom Mark what's his name?
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 42:13SPEAKER_02: Hopkins.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: And Dennis Conn.
- 42:16SPEAKER_02: Is it Tom Hopkins?
- 42:16SPEAKER_02: Look it up for me, Cody, real quick.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: Because Dennis Cons.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: I think it's Dennis Conn's in that.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: No, Dennis Hopper.
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: Dennis Hopper's the bad guy in that one.
- 42:23SPEAKER_00: He's the one.
- 42:24SPEAKER_02: Bob Hopkins, Bob Hopkins.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: Bob Hopkins, yeah.
- 42:26SPEAKER_02: Who plays it?
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: Like, that one's terrible.
- 42:28SPEAKER_00: It's gotta be the worst one.
- 42:30SPEAKER_02: Um is it a bad adaptation?
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: But just I know it's a bad movie.
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: I feel like it's a bad adaptation after seeing the animated versions.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: Bob Hopkins.
- 42:43SPEAKER_00: Hopkins is hot.
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but like here's the thing.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: Like, they hit the mark on everything, they're plumbers, they end up in this world.
- 42:51SPEAKER_02: Koopa Kid's taking over, they have to save Daisy, not Peach.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was Daisy in that one.
- 42:57SPEAKER_02: Yoshi's in it, and they have Goombas.
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but Yoshi's not a dinosaur.
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he is.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: No, he's a mutated human with a dinosaur head.
- 43:05SPEAKER_02: No?
- 43:06SPEAKER_02: You're thinking of uh the Goombas.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: I'm pretty sure Yoshi's a bit.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: Dude, okay, hold on, I'll get my head.
- 43:13SPEAKER_02: Oh no, no, no, no.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, he was just a baby raptor.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he was like a baby dinosaur, yeah.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 43:19SPEAKER_02: He had a long tongue.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: Most of the one that'd be pretty bad, but I don't know if that's just because it's a bad move.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: Well, that's the thing.
- 43:25SPEAKER_02: I they had the bomb.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: I think it's a bad move.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: They had power-ups.
- 43:31SPEAKER_02: It wasn't.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but the super jump was boots.
- 43:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but they had it.
- 43:35SPEAKER_02: I mean That's the thing, like, if you're going if you're going to base off of a check mark.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: I'm playing Devil's Advocate, by the way.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: No, it's a bad, it's a bad adaptation.
- 43:43SPEAKER_02: It's a bad movie.
- 43:45SPEAKER_02: But but like but like that's to say that like if you're going off check marks I wonder, I was sitting here like, why are we fighting off?
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: No, no, it's a bad adaptation.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: Like, but they hit all the check marks, but that doesn't mean it was not a good thing.
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 43:58SPEAKER_00: Then what about like Let me think of some like real bad, in my opinion.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: Silent Hill, Resident Evil.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: So Resident Evil seems to go on the Militovich version of it.
- 44:10SPEAKER_01: That one seems to be more like with the Jurassic Park thing, because like it's not faithful to the games at all.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: But people really enjoy those movies.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: It's weird.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: Because they've made what, like, eight of them?
- 44:24SPEAKER_01: So not counting Welcome to Rack New City, because that one didn't have Mila Jovovich in it.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: Still a Resident Evil movie, though.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it was considered like outside of that part of the branch.
- 44:38SPEAKER_02: When it comes to adaptations, like I don't count.
- 44:41SPEAKER_02: If we're talking about like just just like the movies or whatever, then sure, I could be like, yeah, welcome to Raccoon Cities outside of the Mila.
- 44:49SPEAKER_02: But if we're just talking adaptations, it's like, well, no, Raccoon City is still an adaptation.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: That one they typically look at as a separate adaptation.
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: Most people say it's closer to the source material by far, but it's not well done.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: I um I don't think the the original Resident Evil movies, I don't think those are good adaptations.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: See, that's why I figured it's probably more in that Jurassic Park realm of it's a bad adaptation, but people love it.
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: If I were to say it, it's a bad they're terrible adaptations, and they are movies.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: They're okay movies.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: That's what I would say.
- 45:32SPEAKER_00: Now, what about like TV shows that have been adapted from other media?
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: Like Invincible or The Boys, uh Lantern's Lantern.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: Well, that one's Peacemaker.
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: What two episodes in?
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: Peacemaker, Creature Commandos.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: I don't know if Peacemaker ever had a solo comic.
- 45:51SPEAKER_00: I thought it was always with things.
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 45:55SPEAKER_01: I mean, I guess it depends which one.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, the first thing you mentioned, I know people typically have really enjoyed.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: I but like, to me, Invincible, yes, good adaptation, good show.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: The boys.
- 46:10SPEAKER_00: I don't think it's a good adaptation.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: No.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: So what I know from about the boys, they do not follow the source material at all.
- 46:17SPEAKER_00: No, so like season season one does, and season two, I would say, is when it started falling.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: So does that one fall into like that Jurassic Park realm?
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: Bad adaptation, good but media content.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: I don't think I don't like the show.
- 46:34unknown: Okay.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, I think a lot of people enjoy it.
- 46:37SPEAKER_00: I think it's a good show.
- 46:38SPEAKER_00: Let me rephrase that.
- 46:39SPEAKER_00: If we're saying if that's a the show itself, I think, is the same thing you tried to get me on on the Harry Potter, I think it's a completely different thing.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: Because they changed it so much that it may get to a conclusion that's somewhat close, but they changed so much in between it that like it's not an adaptation.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: I I haven't seen it yet.
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: I shall take your word for it, but what you're saying does seem to match what other people that like the show a lot, but also like the comic are like it's nothing like it.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: Oh god.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's just completely separate.
- 47:12SPEAKER_02: I think that should be our rating scale when whenever we see an adaptation.
- 47:16SPEAKER_02: Does is it a Jurassic Park?
- 47:18SPEAKER_02: Or is it a um Super Mario Bros.
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: Ooh, that's a good one.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: Well, no, we need something that's like Mortal Kombat Annihilation.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: We need something.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: Well, no, we because Jurassic Park is like it's a bad adaptation, but a great movie.
- 47:31SPEAKER_02: We need something that's a good adaptation.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was saying, like, I guess I brought up Super Mario Bros.
- 47:36SPEAKER_01: is like bad movie, bad adaptation.
- 47:39SPEAKER_02: So yeah, so is it a Jurassic Park?
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: Is it Super Mario Bros.
- 47:43SPEAKER_02: What's a good adaptation and a good source?
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: A good adaptation and a good movie slash TV show?
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: I guess the first Harry Potter.
- 47:55SPEAKER_01: I guess it depends what you're looking at.
- 47:58SPEAKER_01: I know I've got to be a little bit more.
- 47:59SPEAKER_02: That's almost like the most subjective question I've probably asked on the show, too.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, one right now that a lot of people are agreeing is a pretty good adaptation is the live-action adaptation of One Piece.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: I haven't watched Hey Alex.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: Alex and I both watch anime.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: Don't even ask us about One Piece.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: It's too long.
- 48:19SPEAKER_01: We both gave up on even attempting that show.
- 48:21SPEAKER_02: I did ask him a couple episodes ago.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: I've armed like audience-wise, yeah.
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: Too much.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: Even for the anime people, unless you've already started, just wait.
- 48:31SPEAKER_01: Especially because they're getting ready to make another anime of it, but they're cutting down a lot of filler.
- 48:37SPEAKER_02: Actually, you know what's actually a really good movie and also a pretty good adaptation?
- 48:44SPEAKER_02: Is uh Aliens vs.
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: Predator.
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: No, the first one, like the 2004 one.
- 48:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is.
- 48:51SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 48:52SPEAKER_00: I'll pass on that one.
- 48:54SPEAKER_02: What you don't what what is it a bad adaptation or a bad movie, too?
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: A bad movie.
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: The first one?
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: Get out of here.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: That's a bad movie.
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: What's bad about that movie?
- 49:03SPEAKER_00: I do not like that movie.
- 49:04SPEAKER_02: We got the aliens versus predators.
- 49:07SPEAKER_02: What I just don't like it.
- 49:09SPEAKER_02: What more did you need?
- 49:10SPEAKER_00: I don't like it.
- 49:11SPEAKER_02: What don't you like about it?
- 49:12SPEAKER_00: I don't like how.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: One, you send three predators down there to fight the aliens.
- 49:17SPEAKER_02: Makes sense, it's their heritage, but two of them die within the first five minutes.
- 49:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, makes sense.
- 49:20SPEAKER_02: They're teenagers.
- 49:21SPEAKER_00: With no fight, basically.
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: Shut up.
- 49:26SPEAKER_02: The drones were just born that morning.
- 49:28SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no.
- 49:29SPEAKER_02: Don't do that to Keltic.
- 49:30SPEAKER_02: No, don't do that to Keltic, okay?
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: The first predator, yeah, died because he was snuck up on and was ready to get a prey, and the xenomorph was like, this is an easy catch.
- 49:40SPEAKER_02: He took it.
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: Celtic fought for his life and lost.
- 49:44SPEAKER_02: He lost fair and square.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: Because he got reckless and didn't put two to two together that the acid was going to go through the cage or the net, got reckless.
- 49:57SPEAKER_02: It took his time to get his kill, and then the xenomorph popped up and got him.
- 50:01SPEAKER_02: That was a fair fight between Celtic and Grid.
- 50:04SPEAKER_02: Okay?
- 50:07SPEAKER_02: He lost fair and square.
- 50:09SPEAKER_02: Okay?
- 50:10SPEAKER_02: Scar was great.
- 50:12SPEAKER_02: He did.
- 50:12SPEAKER_02: He was a freaking amazing.
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: They were teenagers.
- 50:15SPEAKER_02: Of course they were going to be a little reckless and a little prideful.
- 50:20SPEAKER_02: Why not?
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: Well, what was but like but like you had a really bad point as to why you didn't like the movie, though.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: They do die quick.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: The whole movie's based on the biggest.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: It was like a freaking 30, like an hour-long fight, dude.
- 50:34SPEAKER_02: It was like quick, man.
- 50:36SPEAKER_00: It was no way an hour-long fight.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: It was like it was like maybe like 15, 20 minutes.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: Probably 10, actually, but realistically, yeah.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: Most of them were together as long as they could see it.
- 50:48SPEAKER_02: It felt like a long fight.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: The whole thing was alien versus predator.
- 50:52SPEAKER_00: One, humans shouldn't have been involved in it.
- 50:55SPEAKER_02: No, because if you take from the source of material, humans are involved in it.
- 50:58SPEAKER_02: But you didn't have to.
- 50:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you did.
- 51:00SPEAKER_02: No, you didn't.
- 51:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because of the movie Alien versus Predator did not have to be able to do it.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: Why were the humans there?
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: Why were the humans there?
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: To research the hidden pyramid and Antarctica.
- 51:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and why did the pyramid all of a sudden show up?
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: Uh, they activated something.
- 51:14SPEAKER_02: No, no, no.
- 51:15SPEAKER_02: The pyramid activated itself because every hundred years the Yaucha show up expecting a sacrifice from the humans.
- 51:21SPEAKER_02: They read about that in the hieroglyphics since like the frickin' dawn of man.
- 51:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but you can adapt it and not even put the humans in it.
- 51:29SPEAKER_02: Why, but like what story do you have there then?
- 51:31SPEAKER_02: Just Yaucha vs.
- 51:32SPEAKER_02: Xenomorphs?
- 51:34SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 51:34SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 51:35SPEAKER_02: No, because then you run No, because that's bullcrap.
- 51:37SPEAKER_02: Because that's the crap people were upset about.
- 51:39SPEAKER_02: That wouldn't make a good movie either.
- 51:40SPEAKER_02: Why not?
- 51:41SPEAKER_02: The same reason why they didn't do that for Batman versus Superman.
- 51:45SPEAKER_00: Which is also a bad movie.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: Shut up.
- 51:46SPEAKER_02: That was a great hold on, hold on.
- 51:50SPEAKER_01: John working himself up again.
- 51:51SPEAKER_02: That was a Okay, hold on.
- 51:52SPEAKER_02: He's making me sit up and move my microphone around.
- 51:55SPEAKER_02: Because everyone was like, oh, a movie called Batman vs.
- 51:58SPEAKER_02: Superman.
- 51:58SPEAKER_02: They should have been fighting the whole time.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: No, that's not that.
- 52:01SPEAKER_02: Did you really want to see Batman and Superman fight for two hours?
- 52:05SPEAKER_02: No.
- 52:05SPEAKER_02: People got bored after the ten minutes they fought.
- 52:08SPEAKER_00: So you're telling me that if you were bad because of something different than the Why the writing was incredible.
- 52:14SPEAKER_02: That was a great movie.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: The fighting was great, but you don't have to cram in Doomsday out of nowhere to be a mutated corpse of General Zod.
- 52:23SPEAKER_02: But that's what he is.
- 52:24SPEAKER_02: He's a mutated corpse of General Zod.
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: Take it back.
- 52:26SPEAKER_00: You know that's not true.
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 52:28SPEAKER_02: Well, what which adaptation are we talking about?
- 52:32SPEAKER_00: Which source of the Superman?
- 52:33SPEAKER_02: Which source?
- 52:34SPEAKER_02: Which source would be Death of Superman.
- 52:36SPEAKER_02: Okay, so?
- 52:37SPEAKER_02: It's not.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: So it's a bad adaptation.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: I don't think it's a bad adaptation.
- 52:41SPEAKER_02: No! It's a great.
- 52:42SPEAKER_02: And then great.
- 52:43SPEAKER_02: Everything was great about that.
- 52:45SPEAKER_00: In what version?
- 52:46SPEAKER_02: Hold on.
- 52:46SPEAKER_02: Hold on, Tom.
- 52:47SPEAKER_02: Hold on.
- 52:48SPEAKER_02: Hold on.
- 52:48SPEAKER_02: Hold on.
- 52:49SPEAKER_02: Hold on.
- 52:50SPEAKER_02: Aliens vs.
- 52:51SPEAKER_02: Predator.
- 52:51SPEAKER_02: We're talking about that real quick.
- 52:53SPEAKER_02: There's no way you would have liked more than what we got in Aliens vs.
- 52:58SPEAKER_02: Predator for them fighting.
- 52:59SPEAKER_02: You would have been bored of it so quick.
- 53:00SPEAKER_00: I would have much rather if they wouldn't have taken the Sorcerer Field and said, alright, they have to fight Xenomorphs to get this rite of passage in an X amount of years.
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: That's what we're going with.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: Let's take the human element out of it, set it off world to where it doesn't matter, to where it literally is like a queen, six eggs, and they have to figure it out with three adolescent youths.
- 53:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but you need a sacrifice there to incubate the xenomorphs.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: Just make it anything can be the sacrifice.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: Make an animal go up to the egg and it's done.
- 53:35SPEAKER_02: Or, I don't know, I'm just gonna throw this out there.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: Uh, humans?
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: The humans are the worst part about it, though.
- 53:42SPEAKER_02: Just ignore them.
- 53:43SPEAKER_02: Just ignore them.
- 53:44SPEAKER_02: The human the humans were the worst part of Jurassic Park.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 53:55SPEAKER_00: Maybe which part is the one where he has a scared pooper and he can't make it to the bathroom.
- 54:02SPEAKER_00: He gets down.
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: And he looks definitely just gets eaten.
- 54:05SPEAKER_02: That's not exactly what happened, but no, that was the worst.
- 54:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, no, no, no.
- 54:08SPEAKER_02: The best part of all those scenes were the dinosaurs.
- 54:10SPEAKER_02: Not the humans.
- 54:11SPEAKER_02: The dinosaurs.
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: We just wanted dinosaurs.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: The best part was Jeff Goldblum.
- 54:14SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, yes.
- 54:17SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 54:18SPEAKER_00: I win.
- 54:19SPEAKER_02: Jeff Goblins was Jeff Goldblum's.
- 54:21SPEAKER_02: He's a human.
- 54:22SPEAKER_02: He's the only good human.
- 54:23SPEAKER_02: No, freaking Don't give me that crap.
- 54:25SPEAKER_02: No, fine.
- 54:26SPEAKER_02: So you would have much rather have them be like in a random.
- 54:29SPEAKER_02: So basically the plot of predators, but instead of humans, it was just a dog and xenomorphs.
- 54:37SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 54:39SPEAKER_02: Shut up, Cody.
- 54:41SPEAKER_02: Oh, and really quick, before I because I know this is gonna happen.
- 54:44SPEAKER_02: Go break the fourth wall here.
- 54:46SPEAKER_02: Hey, Justin, also shut up.
- 54:48SPEAKER_02: Because you're gonna he's gonna say something that's gonna really grind my gears on purpose, because he's gonna be bored and be like, I swear he's gonna text me and be like, Elliot vs.
- 54:57SPEAKER_02: Predator sucks.
- 54:58SPEAKER_02: I don't think he knows what a yaucha is.
- 55:00SPEAKER_02: So shut up, Justin.
- 55:01SPEAKER_02: And shut up, Cody.
- 55:03SPEAKER_02: So, no, because here's the thing about Batman versus Superman.
- 55:07SPEAKER_02: They weren't they weren't If we're switching back, to be fair.
- 55:12SPEAKER_01: Alex is right.
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: The only time Doomsday was the mutated corpse of Zod was that movie.
- 55:19SPEAKER_01: It's never been that otherwise.
- 55:22SPEAKER_01: I just looked it up.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: Did you really?
- 55:24SPEAKER_02: It is original to that movie.
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: And it was great.
- 55:27SPEAKER_02: I'm not saying it's good or bad, I'm just saying as far as I know that like the only person.
- 55:35SPEAKER_02: So no, I think it's stupid, to be honest.
- 55:37SPEAKER_02: But like, if that's but okay, is that the only problem with Batman versus Superman?
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: No, there's not enough one problem, but it has nothing to do with adaptation.
- 55:48SPEAKER_01: It has everything to do with the same issue DC had at that time with all their movies.
- 55:53SPEAKER_01: It's physically too dark, I can't see anything.
- 55:57SPEAKER_02: Now, to be fair, that the DC EU, that was only their second movie.
- 56:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but all their movies had that problem.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: I like I didn't most of them a lot of it.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: It's just it needed the brightness needed to be turned up just a hair.
- 56:12SPEAKER_02: You're a DC guy.
- 56:14SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 56:14SPEAKER_02: Did you like the adaptation of Batman vs.
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: Superman?
- 56:17SPEAKER_02: Actually, hold on, hold on, really quick.
- 56:18SPEAKER_02: You're a liar.
- 56:19SPEAKER_02: The source material was actually from uh The Dark Knight, yeah.
- 56:25SPEAKER_00: They come find them.
- 56:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: Because you can't get to the death of Superman without the thing they did.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: Okay, but most of it was my whole point.
- 56:34SPEAKER_02: Most of it was pulled from the Dark Knight, though.
- 56:36SPEAKER_00: But, okay, in the Dark Knight, it's m they are friends and everything this, and it's a fall from a friendship.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 56:45SPEAKER_00: None of that was done.
- 56:46SPEAKER_00: It's immediately angst.
- 56:49SPEAKER_00: You put Bruce Wayne in a situation where he would have a Lex Luther complex of this guy's an alien.
- 56:56SPEAKER_00: Don't know if I trust it.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: Don't like it.
- 56:58SPEAKER_00: He's foreign.
- 56:59SPEAKER_00: Made it that complex to where none of that was established at all in the Dark Knight.
- 57:04SPEAKER_00: They were friends in the Dark Knight.
- 57:06SPEAKER_00: All three of them were.
- 57:08SPEAKER_00: They didn't have the co collaboration and friendship to go from we're best friends, and then there's something that happens, and then it gradually goes into a rift to separate all three to then culminate in the final fight of Batman and Superman.
- 57:24SPEAKER_00: And they killed the wrong frickin' person.
- 57:29SPEAKER_00: The person that should have died in that fucking movie should have been Batman.
- 57:32SPEAKER_00: And it should have been fake.
- 57:33SPEAKER_00: Because that's the whole thing about Dark Knight.
- 57:37SPEAKER_00: He gets exposed because of all that.
- 57:39SPEAKER_00: He's no longer, quote unquote, needed as that he.
- 57:42SPEAKER_02: But they already did that in the Dark Knight Rises.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: Separate franchise at that point.
- 57:47SPEAKER_02: I know, but at the same time, but like but like it would have been redundant if they did it again on a completely separate franchise.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: Then bad starting point.
- 57:56SPEAKER_01: That's a whole separate argument.
- 57:58SPEAKER_02: So, anyways, sorry, Cody, after I rudely interrupted you.
- 58:03SPEAKER_02: Um Batman versus because you're the DC guy.
- 58:06SPEAKER_01: I do enjoy DC more than Marvel.
- 58:08SPEAKER_02: He does enjoy his DCs.
- 58:09SPEAKER_02: Um Batman vs.
- 58:11SPEAKER_02: Superman.
- 58:11SPEAKER_02: What's good adaptation?
- 58:13SPEAKER_02: Bad adaptation?
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: Good movie?
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: Bad movie?
- 58:16SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna say it's a good movie.
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: I've tried to watch it and I can't get through it.
- 58:22SPEAKER_01: It the pacing on it's just too slow.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: So like movie-wise, I'm gonna say, I mean, it's not it's not terrible, but it's not good either.
- 58:33SPEAKER_01: Adaptation, I'm not as familiar with those stories, so like I can't say it looking it up, it technically takes from three different stories, the two big ones you've talked about, but it also has a thing uh hinting at death in the family.
- 58:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Alex.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, get him.
- 58:49SPEAKER_02: No, get him, Cody.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: Because you only see the suit.
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, get him out.
- 58:54SPEAKER_01: As far like it's just another thing to be like, why did this need to be in here if that's not part of this story?
- 59:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, get him.
- 59:04SPEAKER_00: The only thing I can think of was during that scene, I think they were trying to show, like, why Bruce Wayne has been so angsty and like changed from like the typical Batman to what he is now.
- 59:21SPEAKER_00: That's the only thing I could think of why they would have done that.
- 59:24SPEAKER_01: That also gets back into the issue of bad starting point, because we never saw that version of Bruce beforehand.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: No.
- 59:31SPEAKER_01: I think the whole thing should have been done argument.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: But we're arguing adaptations, and I think it's a terrible adaptation.
- 59:38SPEAKER_00: Also terrible movie.
- 59:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:42SPEAKER_00: I think John's looking for the words of Alex was right.
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: Uh no, no, no, no.
- 59:48SPEAKER_02: I'm a maybe.
- 59:50SPEAKER_02: Hey, can I can I edit this episode?
- 59:54SPEAKER_02: Have you the one that edits this one?
- 59:55SPEAKER_02: I've seen it as a Hidden versus Predator.
- 59:59SPEAKER_02: And then nothing.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_02: AI is so cool these days.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_02: Hey, remember the time you were like, I don't think Odyssey's gonna make a billion dollars?
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_02: Anyways, I'll take that.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_02: So.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_00: Do you got anything else?
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_02: I got nothing else.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we were talking about adaptations.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_02: Let's turn into something else.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_02: Cody, what hold on, Cody, what's your favorite adaptation?
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_01: Favorite?
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_01: That we might have to talk about that another time off camera, because I'm gonna have to think about that for a while.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of bad ones I can get.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_02: What's your least favorite?
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_01: My least favorite I talked about in my least favorite movies, it was the Vampire's Assistant, and it's not even close.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_01: Oh shoot.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_01: If you're going another one that I know is terrible I haven't seen, though, is Dragon Ball Evolution is god-awful.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_01: If you're a Dragon Ball fan, don't even attempt it.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_02: I won't.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: What's yours?
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_02: My least favorite?
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_01: No, your favorite.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_02: My favorite adaptation?
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_01: Or least give us both.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_02: My least favorite adaptation.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_02: I have I have um uh recency bias, unfortunately, right now.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_02: So I have to say, like, my least favorite is like Mortal Kombat 2 that came out this year.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_02: And then probably my favorite, uh, this is this is gonna be a hot take, but the Halo TV show that came out, like, yeah, right.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know, right?
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_02: Comments.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_02: Comments can get out of here.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_02: I know, no, I know.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_02: I'll fight, I'll fight every one of them.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_02: Hey, here's the thing it's an adaptation, not a set for set or play-by-bate of the video game.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_02: There's no so I understand, like, oh, I was on that bandwagon too.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, Master Chief took off his helmet.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_02: What the F's up with that?
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_02: He probably didn't wear his helmet.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_02: We know he didn't wear his helmet on free time, the way Halo 2 started, and he probably wasn't in his armor when he was in his barracks.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_00: So I don't like the fact that Master Chief slept and peed in the only way it happened.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_02: That's the only way it happened, yeah.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_02: I I I the only problem I had with it was the fact that he had sex with that covenant chick, and I was like, I don't think that actually would have happened.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_02: But uh other than that, like, it's a great adaptation of Halo because that's what it is.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_02: An adaptation.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_02: So, anyways, uh I again I only have recency bias.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_02: I like Cody, I need to sit down and think about it.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_01: Alex, what are your favorite and least favorite adaptations?
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_00: Uh I got two favorites.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_00: Uh one recent and then one that'll always be number one.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_00: Uh the recent uh Reacher on Amazon Prime.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_00: I love that show.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_00: And I think they're great adaptations of like the books.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_00: And then Batman the Animated series.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_00: It'll always go down as the greatest adaptation.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_00: That's probably fair.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_00: Always.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_00: I will always say that.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_00: So it's the least.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_00: Least Mortal Kombat 2 Annihilation.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_01: Like that we have two Mortal Kombat 2s.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_01: Mortal Kombat 2 Annihilation.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_02: Both Mortal Kombat 2s.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_01: Actually, I know worst adaptation for both of us, because it was on one of my wor least favorite movies.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_01: No, facts.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_01: The last airbender.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_01: That's oof.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: That one's also bad.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_02: I still haven't seen that.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: There's there's a lot of bad adaptations in every form of media.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_02: Always, yes.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_02: And there's a lot of good ones.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and like anything.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_01: The bad always stands out more than the good because you remember the bad stuff.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, by far.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_00: John, do you got anything else?
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_00: I got nothing else.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_00: Cody?
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_00: This is Alex, keeping it relevant.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_00: Yes, and you will die.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_02: See ya everyone.
